Sargon was a weapon. And like a weapon, he had been forged by searing flames and unbearable heat; his hardships made him a more formidable warrior. This also meant, like a weapon, he knew he was only useful if he could fight and defend. Weapons that broke were smelted back into molten metal, or were placed on display and forgot about in some nobleman’s house, gathering dust as it had gathered kills during its prime.
            Sargon was a broken weapon.
A new AU that I’ve been torturing @kaihoney and @gryffintheparrotcat with. It’s called “More than a weapon” AU! Read more for context:
Spoilers underneath!
GRAPHIC DEPICTION OF INJURY
“Sargon would be lying if he’d said he knew what attack Vahram had thrown at him caused it, but whatever had happened, it left his arm a mangled mess, barely even recognizable as human.
Ghassan had stressed how Artaban and Neith did everything they could, but the Wak Wak tree wasn’t healing it completely. Apparently, there is only so much the Wak Wak tree could heal. By the time they had realized the tree wasn’t healing that particular injury, necrosis had begun to take hold, and it left them with no choice but to amputate the arm. Despite not being able to heal the initial injury, that damn tree was able to heal the worst of the amputation itself. However, like the stab wound through his shoulder, it didn’t heal fully and Sargon could feel the uncomfortable pull of stitches when he moved his arm back down.”
A little snippet from the fic I’m writing for this AU! I’m hoping I caught the primal horror and awful realization on Sargon’s face. I was speaking with the other squirrels and had agreed that Sargon primarily uses his right hand (fighting doesn’t count since he dual wields).
I have more planned for this AU. It’s full of hurt/comfort, whump, etc. My poor boy is really in for it

Hello! I hope your having a lovely day. I was wondering if you could expand on what type of weapons they use in more detail so for example I know that they use swords but what type of swords I made the assumption that because the game is very Kurdish inspired that they probably use a shamshir, so what other kinds of swords. Thank you for taking the time to read this and sorry if the question was worded weirdly.
That's correct, X famously favors the shamshir as their main weapon!!
However, the most common sword that the army uses is a double-edged straight short sword called the akinakes (see picture).
Shamshirs are more often used for mounted soldiers since the curved design is especially effective on horseback. X, as an inner magic user, can simulate the speed and force of a soldier on horseback so they use their shamshir on foot as well, but most Arsurian soldiers use the akinakes on foot. That is if they use swords at all.
Overall, the army (as well as groups like the city guards and the Imperial Guards) favors spears and bows over swords. Spears give superior reach and are the better choice for frontline soldiers, and they can be used equally well on horseback, which makes them cost-effective. They are easier to produce in bulk compared to swords as well.
If you look beyond the average soldier in Arsur, there's more variety in weapon choices. Especially talented warriors like A and D can choose to specialize in other weapons, such as daggers and a khopesh for A and a mace for D. Heval, as another example, prefers to dual-wield short battle axes.
D and A are trained in handling the basic weapons as well, since they were both trained in the army. D has mastered spear wielding while A is an expert sword wielder, and they are both skilled with a bow.
X has skill in many different weapons, though they handle them much more intuitively since they've had no formal army training like A and D. They definitely prefer to stick to their shamshir, though.
You can find more weapon references on the Pinterest!

Two Danish tell tale compasses, inscribed on the left with Capt. Marinus Nielous Haabet af Horsens. Dated probably in the late 18th century- early 19th century. The right one is inscribed with - Nicolaes Pinnich Altona 1766 (this makes it a Hamburg compass, i.e. a North German compass).
