another super insulting part of the watcher situation i haven't rly seen ppl addressing much
ryan deadass saying smth like "nobody else on youtube has made tv quality content"
like... i really feel like it's important to highlight that bc not only do they obviously have no respect for their audience, but that statement shows they have no respect for their peers in the industry, either.
not to mention it is a shining example of bleeding arrogance to such a high degree, you will straight up fucking lie bc you're truly convinced you're that special when you're anything but.
there's been NUMEROUS online creators who were recognized by entertainment industry workers BECAUSE they made tv quality content & even full stop blockbuster quality content.
bo burnham started on youtube & is now one of the most wellknown & loved standup comedians of our generation, with numerous netflix specials & even a movie he wrote & directed under his belt.
the try guys, fellow ex-buzzfeed employees, had their own tv specials on food network (based off their youtube shows, btw) & a documentary made about them as well
rosanna pansino has also been on numerous food network shows both as a host & a judge
quinta brunsun, another fellow ex-buzzfeed employee, went on to create her own whole ass sitcom that has been highly praised
matpat cameo'd in the fnaf movie because of his theories & multiple other fnaf creators had small cameos through the employee of the month board easter egg
markiplier made multiple high-quality shows on youtube & is now working on a highly anticipated movie (he was also planned to cameo in the fnaf movie but couldn't due to conflicting schedules with his own movie)
hot ones got their own tv gameshow due to their popularity & they are still one of the most wellknown, beloved & respected internet shows
many short films made on youtube went on to premiere at film festivals & even in theaters
the hit horror film "talk to me" was created by youtubers rackaracka
webseries of actual fucking tv shows have also existed for literal decades
the list goes on.
to seriously think that overproduced bullshit is all you need to make "tv quality content" is not only tone-deaf, but shows they do not even know what they're talking about. many tv shows & huge blockbuster movies are made with absolutely microscopic budgets & small teams, & they still get praised & awarded for the passion, dedication, & creativity that shined brightly under those restrictions.
the blair witch project is probably the most wellknown & highly praised example of this, but it is far from the Only example
it is a whole other slap in the face, again ESPECIALLY when puppet history is one of their most popular shows, to spit in the face of internet history. to see the success of their predecessors, even ppl they fucking worked with at buzzfeed, & deny them of all their success & efforts to get where they ended up.
no, y'all are not the first people to make "tv quality content" on the internet. FAR from it. because your crap isn't even genuine "tv quality".
but you are the first ones to ever disrespect not only your audience, but your own fucking industry & your peers on this level.
& you are the first & i sorely hope the only fuckwads dumb enough to pull a stunt this fucking stupid, out of touch & utterly tone deaf.

I love that there's an entire sub genre of pjo fans that read the books that are just clowning on the new viewers.
Like, the TikTok slideshows that are "Stuff I can't wait to be in the show."
And it's, oh Annabeth is the lightning thief, Annabeth kills Grover, Percy gets with Luke, Percy discoverers that Gabe was Poseidon the entire time, Percy figures out he has an evil twin named Bercy, Bercy kills Luke, and Sally becomes queen of Olympus.

DJANGO JUST DROPPED ON AMERICAN NETFLIX
hey Americans, remember how I was in a Western period drama that came out in Europe in February? Well it's been licensed to US Netflix for the month of October, so if you've been waiting to see it now's your chance!
I play a trans girl called Jess who's hanging out in the Wild West, straight chillin'. I had a blast filming it; it was my first big TV job that I got juuusssst after I came out so I'm still a baby in it lol, but it means a lot to me

They really had this scrappy 12-year-old stare down a 6 ft 5” WWE Hall of Famer, who could probably bench press him through a wall one-handed, and I think that’s a perfect representation of Percy and Ares

so not only the "the deadline's passed so the quest has failed" change served for letting us see percy going from wanting to have nothing to do with the gods to giving the bolt to zeus himself, but we also saw poseidon literally surrending to zeus and saving his son for the second time this season because he cares, he cares so much about him, while in the book he says he's sorry he was born. don't talk to me.

I hope y'all saw the way Leah carried this episode. She is the people's Annabeth Chase. Also someone said percabeth mirrored Poseidon and Medusa in this episode. And they do because once again there's a girl who is extremely loyal to Athena being punished for the actions of a guy. The fact that Annabeth is Athena's daughter adds layers to it because it shows she really doesn't give a damn even when it's her blood. Which is messed up considering how Annabeth defended her. Like I was nervous when Annabeth told Percy to try talking to his dad because that definitely would have pissed her mom off but apparently it didn't matter.

Imagine this with me for a sec, I'm here to break your heart with this silly little headcanon:
Baylan and Shin made their outfits.
When Shin was young and living with her family, she learned to sew because it was something commonly taught to all people within her community (like driving or riding a bike in ours). This means she grew up with the craft and is familiar with how to both sew by hand and with a machine. She knows how to darn, mend, and honestly I wouldn't be surprised if she knew a thing or two about embroidery, crochet, or knitting.
(oh my golly, imagine Sabine finding out Shin can crochet)
Anyways, fast forward to the first few years she and Baylan spent together on the run. Shin is officially an apprentice and they work together to survive, take contracts, teach, and learn. They do everything together, and because of their profession, they feel like they need ✨outfits✨ to appear more reputable to potential clients.
Now, if you look at the stitching on Shin's tunic compared to Baylan's, it's a lot neater. The color of fabric is uniform and overall, it's looks like it's held up fairly well to the abuse it's been through. Baylan's is... a little less neat, but still durable and it serves it's function.
Here's where I'm going with this:
Shin, in this scenario, is a relatively experienced seamster, or at least more experienced than most. This means that she probably had to teach Baylan a thing or two when it came to creating their outfits respectively, hence why the craftsmanship in Shin's appears a tad better than in Baylan's.
Now just imagine Baylan's pride towards trying to learn this new skill from his apprentice and inevitably succeeding after many failed attempts. He knows his handiworks isn't the best in the world, but he did it and it was his own apprentice that taught him how. It made his apprentice smile and that's really all that mattered in the end. It was probably a defining series of moments/activity in their relationship and it probably brought them closer as a Master and his Apprentice, or more like, a Father and his Daughter.
That's all 🙃
