#don’t read further in my tags if you haven’t read the manga
Text
i think the reason i love mitsumi and shimas relationship so much is that the manga has made it clear that they matter to each other no matter if their dynamic is romantic or not. like obviously i am expecting (and rooting) for them to get together, but i’ve never seen a piece of media actually put a platonic relationship on such a high level, even prioritizing it over a potential romantic one

Cherry Magic Anime Ep 1 Stray Thoughts
Yes, you read that correctly. While GMMTV is doing a Thai version of Cherry Magic, Japanese studio Satelight (Fairy Tale, Log Horizon, and more) produced an anime version that just began airing on Crunchyroll. What a time to be alive. My primary hope is for this version to go further than the live action or the movie did. The manga is ongoing, and I’d like to see the parts that haven’t been adapted.
I like how quickly this is breezing through the early stuff. Adachi already knows about his powers and is continuing to be glum. He’s explicitly interested in girls, and I like the character design that has his hair constantly covering his left eye.
Wow, we got through the convenience store, train crowd, and then reached the elevator scene in 2:40.
For those who care, Kurosawa does not yet have yaoi hands.
The intro is decent. It at least lets us know the whole gang is here.
Adachi thinking he’s hallucinating his powers is a good shorthand as he’s figuring out if Kurosawa is for real.
Oh, fuck yes, anime Kurosawa is much hornier in his head.
Wow, we’re also getting to Adachi staying over in the first episode.
The fact that Adachi and Kurosawa like the same manga is actually a really significant detail. I can’t maintain regular friendships, let along romances, if I don’t have much media in common with someone.
Yeah, I’m enjoying how much more explicit Kurosawa’s fantasies are in this version. Here they translate him as saying he bought the pajamas to fantasize about Adachi wearing them.
Oh, Kurosawa, you remain one of my favorite simps.
I’m not like Adachi. I would show up every morning before work if someone else was going to cook a full meal for me.
Oooh, the boss’s coupon for a meal date must have been in the manga since the Thai version captured this too.
An expired coupon on an expensive meat dinner? Pain.
Oh, Adachi, how you struggle with someone having affection for you compels me every time.
I really like introducing Tsuge in the tag.
It’s really fascinating how each adaptation so far has approached the timeline of events. I kinda like holding off on the supporting case for a full episode and just focusing on Adachi being a loner who doesn’t know how to deal with Kurosawa being so attracted to him while making no overt moves about it. It’s really cool because it doesn’t just feel like the live action. We got through events that were in the first two or three episodes of the live action here, but also didn’t touch other beats yet. I like it. This is such a cool set of comparisons we get to make right now.

Top Ten (Or So): Bakugou Fanfics
I’m a multipshipper–especially, for some reason, when it comes to Bakugou from My Hero Academia. I just love to see him put in such an awkward and completely-out-of-his-comfort-zone situation like Romance.
So without further ado, here are fanfiction recommendations arranged by Bakugou couple:
(Edit: I added a reading break, because this was a very long post to scroll through on my mobile.)
Bakugou/Iida: Breakneck Speed by chiropterology. This is the fic that made me make this list. Because I never, ever would have considered BakuIida as a ship if I hadn’t read this fic. I thought it would be cool to help others discover the delight of a previously unconsidered ship, and decided to make this list. The story is unfinished, and looks like it never will be finished (the author hasn’t been active at all in more than two years), but for me it was worth it for how hilarious and awesome it was.
Bakugou/Momo: My favourite fic with these two isn’t romantic at all, but still has great interactions between the two of them. I’m not gonna write the whole fic name because it’s extremely long, but it’s You know that thing where an orchestra swaps instruments…? by Sif.
There’s not that many great fics that are romantic out there for this pairing, and the one I like best I actually put in the Poly section below (“Love like a common cold”). But Leaf Water by smol_bird is a sweet little one-shot for these two, and I liked it quite a lot.
Bakugou/Ochako: I used to be into this ship a lot, but not so much anymore. It makes it difficult to recommend fics properly, because I don’t reread them anymore. That said, there is one Kacchako fic I still read whenever it updates, and that’s Seeing Double by knifekirby. This is one of the best (*the* best?) fantasy AU I’ve read (but mixed with the original MHA world! And yes, at one point you get two Bakugous at once). The world building is fantastic, barbarian Bakugou is epic, and the dragons are so awesome. It’s unfinished, but updates keep coming after long breaks, so there’s lots of hope.
A runner up could be A Different Perspective by House_of_Pixels. I quite like mind-sharing and soul-bond type fics, and this is a really cool one of that genre.
Bakugou/Deku: I have the opposite problem as with Ochako here. I’m a big bakudeku shipper, and I’ve read so many and have so many favourites depending on my mood that it’s hard to pick only a couple to recommend. But still, if I had to pick one, I think I’d go with (may the bridges i have burned) light my way back home by Chrome. It’s slow burn (my favourite), and the romance is subtle and difficult. Quite beautiful, in my opinion. It’s unfinished, and I had thought it was going to remain so forever, but it recently updated after a long, long break this year, so there’s hope!
For a one-shot (and thus finished) fic, try Do Not Disturb by surveycorpsjean. I’m a manga reader, and there have been so many developments between Bakugou and Midoriya recently, but the fics haven’t caught up. This story takes place after Ch. 322, and Katsuki is SO in character–caring for Izuku in the way he does in recent manga chapters, while still retaining all his amazing strength and gruffness.
And finally, a runner up: for a long and finished fic that I don’t think is getting nearly enough love, try zero-sum game by roadtripwithlucifer. It’s dark and angsty and adult and there’s lots of sex (one of the tags is “Sex as a Coping Mechanism”), but it’s fantastically written, and man do you get all the feels with this one.
Bakugou/Todoroki: I tend not to seek out todobaku, but will enjoy it if it’s in the bookmarks or works of an author I really like. So I’m not aware of the full breadth of options for this pairing, but there are a few I’ve found that I really enjoy. cruel to be kind by shaekspeares would be the first one I’d recommend. It’s a very long, slow-burn one-shot, and the first section is devoted to Bakugou struggling with PTSD (something I personally really like reading fics about) and has almost no Todoroki at all (an indication of its slow-burn, and a point in its favour for me).
Another would be and even the cake is in tiers by supercrunch, which I also mention in the poly section below. It has multiple endings, one of which is todobaku, and it’s one of the funniest fics on this list.
And finally, as a runner up, I have to recommend A Real Fucking Problem by Ellessey. It has, um… a LOT of masturbation, lol. I read fanfiction more for the romance than the sex (not through lack of horniness, but lack of interest in written word to deal with horniness). But this fic has such good characterization for Bakugou, and is so, so funny, that I don’t even mind the mammoth amounts of sexual content.
Bakugou/Froppy: All the Same Broken Parts by Seeress. There’s not many fics for this ship–it’s quite a rarepair. But I happened on this one, and I'm very glad. It’s so sad (though happy in the end), but I found it quite lovely and excellently written.
Bakugou/Camie: The Freaky Friday sitch! by orphan_account. Like with Momo, my favourite fic with these two isn’t romantic, but it’s hilarious, and these two are a fantastic duo. Bodyswapped Camie in Bakugou’s body is just *chef’s kiss*.
For a runner up that is romantic, you could try our friendship goes beyond your average kind of bond (but not because we’re gay) by wonhaebunny. I could actually see it happening something like this in canon, plus there’s a lovely bit of Bakugou & Kirishima friendship on the side.
Bakugou/Kaminari: My favourite BakuKami is actually in a bakudeku fic, Permanent Ink by Maxime. Fortunately, the little bit of BakuKami in that fic was so delightful, that they wrote another pure BakuKami fic, Tango for Two, Electric Boogaloo.
Bakugou/Shinsou: letting it linger by Ramabear. Nosy classmates, early-morning Shinsou staring, demi-sexual Bakugou (my favourite kind of Bakugou). It’s super cute and I really enjoyed it.
Polyamorous: Love like a common cold by supercrunch. My two favourite Bakugou ships, BakuDeku and BakuMomo, with a side splash of Todoroki. It’s a fantastic and very funny bodyswapping fic that you should definitely try out. The same author also wrote and even the cake is in tiers, which has an ending with todobakudeku, and is hilarious.
Gen: I’m always on the lookout for good Gen Bakugou fics, but I find it surprisingly hard to find ones I like. Here’s a couple I really loved:
A Little Demonstration by AnonymousTwit. Bakugou’s epic fights are one of my favourite parts of his character, and this gets at that glorious feeling exactly. It’s like the Joint Training Arc, but *more epic*.
Social Media: 101 by WindsChild8178. If you’re ok with Mistuki being abusive and a whole lot of angst and PTSD for Bakugou, then you really should try this fic. WindsChild is a fantastic writer, and this is one of the few fics that I remember vividly no matter how far between updates. It’s unfinished, but WindsChild puts a lot of work into each chapter, so it tends to be a long time between updates. I still have lots of hope it will be finished.
Note on Bakugou/Jirou: I love this ship, it’s probably in my top 3 Bakugou ships, but I haven’t yet found any fics that really, really stand out–enough to put them on this list, at least. Feel free to recommend one!
Note on Bakugou/Kirishima: My shipping is a mystery even to me, and it always has been. Why do I not like KiriBaku when I like almost every other Bakugou ship under the sun? I have no frickin clue. I have no rational reasons against it–it’s cute and sweet and there’s more canon moments with them than almost anyone else besides Deku. I do not blame anyone for liking this couple, I just happen not to myself, so I have no recs. If you really like kiribaku, feel free to reply with some recs of your own. :)

[REPOST] Just Stitching? - What You Missed On That Hisoka x Machi Scene [A Dialogue Analysis]
Had to repost 'cuz Tumblr decided not to post it in the tags -_-
-
I'm too deep into Hisoka x Machi. I already made many posts about them in a single month. How do I cope?
Warnings: if you haven’t read chapter 357 of Hunter x Hunter, then it’s gonna be spoiler so don’t go any further if that’s the case; bad grammar; unedited; typos.
Tumblr media
Remember reading these panels in the Hunter x Hunter manga? Those times when Machi offered to stitch Hisoka up, both when he was still dead and after his revival through post-mortem nen.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Hunter x Hunter - Chapter 357 (Official Translations)
In the official translations, they translated Machi's lines as such.
But then, I read the Japanese raws, which are posted below:
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Hunter x Hunter - Chapter 357
I noticed some things between these two scenes where Machi was talking to Hisoka about doing the stitches to him when he's dead versus after he's revived. Unfortunately, these things were lost in English translation. So today, I will share these findings to you.
1) Machi stitching him for a purpose (or more?).
In the first picture above, she said this to him:
Tumblr media
"I'll make your face pretty, as well, for you." (Also has the implication of doing it for some future purpose)
So, in this sentence, she told him she will make his face pretty, but look at the ending of the conugated verb, する, which means to do.
-といて. This is the contracted form of -ておいて, a conjugation of -ておく. -ておくforms are usually used when the action done, being done, or will be done in advance or instance is for future purpose(s). There are other usage for this verb form but they don't fit the context here, at least to my perspective.
(For more information: Link 1, Link 2, Link 3)
So in this scenario, when she said she'll make his face pretty, it's pretty much for the future purpose of funeral or when his corpse is presented to others, or whatever it is that she's thinking of when she says this. So yes, she's gonna do the stitching for a future purpose or two. Or Three.....
But then, after Hisoka was revived, this is what she said to him regarding the stitching:
Tumblr media
"I'll do the stitching for you."
In this part, there's no more of the -ておく stuff, so it means that the stitchings will not be done in advance or at the moment for some future purpose. Just flat out gonna do it.
So in the first picture, she intended to do the stitching for him for a future purpose (e.g. funeral, presentation to others before burial), but after his resurrection, she's saying she's gonna do stitchings on him, flat out. No future purpose or anything whatsoever. No strings attached. It's like doing this as nothing more than a service, at least that's how it looks like to me.
It's such a great contrast. Maybe it's because it's so obvious that she omitted the -ておく form. Perhaps, it's just it's useless to stitch him for future purpose or convenience for her now that he's alive and seem to be well. Why did she have this in the pre-revival Hisoka scene and not the post-revival Hisoka scene? Just think about it and keep it in mind for now.
2) Stitching For You: Pre-post Mortem Nen vs. Post-post Mortem Nen
So in the first scenario, Machi's word ends in -てやる.
Tumblr media
In Japanese, -てやる is used when:
doing something for someone or a favor, but it's either someone you're very close (like super close) with like best friends, someone that's inferior in rank (e.g. a yakuza member whose rank is inferior), or someone younger, mostly children.
doing something or a favor for an animal (or plants)
doing something harsh to someone (e.g. 殺してやる 'to kill' (and the act is directed to the person you're going to do this to); gotta have strong will, determination, and/or anger in doing that act
(For more information: Link 1, Link 2, Link 3)
Right, here obviously Machi is being very casual to Hisoka, who is lying there dead. Her guard is pretty much down and he's treating him as if they're very close (unless she's talking down to him like a subordinate, which is super unlikely in this scene).
But look at here, when Machi tells him this phrase when Hisoka was revived and all alive now. Look at the ending of the verb:
Tumblr media
-たげる, a contraction of -てあげる.
We use -てあげる when you do something or an action for someone, but unlike -てやる, this is more neutral and much more respectful than -てやる. You use this for a classmate, a co-worker in the same department, your friend (not super close ones tho) - basically as long as they are not a superior (e.g. boss in work, teacher, parents). You can also use this instead of -てやる for people of inferior rank if you want to avoid looking or being rude, especially in office settings.
(For more info: Link 1, Link 2 (google the rest REHHHHHH)
Machi's speech here took a turn. When Hisoka was dead, she was talking to him very casually (note: -てやる) and when she's talking to him after his post-post mortem nen revival sh*t, she's talking less casual; it's more neutral. Informal, casual enough, yet it conveys distance between the two, if you know what I mean.
If you consider this two findings, you can come into the conclusion that she does care about him and doesn't show it in front of him. Notice the changes. When he was still dead, she was totally casual and her guard is completely down. On the other hand, when he's in front of her, alive, and listening in this chapter, her tone is that of one putting a distance between them while at the same time retaining the informal tone. Not gonna blame her since he can take advantage of her easily if she doesn't put that distance. Plus, the man has betrayed the Troupe and just fought Chrollo. So they can't be as close or cool with each other as they were back in chapter 55 of the manga or Yorknew City arc.
You might have another conclusion, different from mine and others. So, feel free to let me know in the comments or reblogs >///<
So, yeah. Hisoka and Machi scenes in Chapter 357 are a sweet treat. Just like chapter 55, this chapter is literally for Hisomachi shippers. Too bad, a lot of this stuff gets lost in the English translations.
I do hope you enjoyed this post. Again, let me know your thoughts and opinions, if you have any. I would like to know your input as well.
Thank you for reading. Until then.

WHAT TO EXPECT. My interpretation of Death The Kid has OCD, but I myself don’t, so expect me to get some details wrong- don’t be afraid to tell me if I do!! I also haven’t been back in this fandom for years, so the writing of these characters will be rusty, so please be patient!! I’ve read the manga and also have seen the anime, so I’m chill with writing in both timelines.
SELECTIVITY. Somewhat selective about who I interact with. Mutuals centric(?). Bigotry will not be tolerated here. Crossover and OC friendly!! I will do threads with personal blogs.
TRIGGERS. I refuse to roleplay anything with nail gore, trypophobia, or sexual topics. Suicide and self harm are iffy- if you want to include that stuff in one of our threads, please tag it as tw suicide or tw sh. Spoilers and triggering things will be tagged to the best of my ability, and if I do something in one of our rps that's triggering to you, please let me know!! I can fix the response up!
RELATIONSHIPS. Pre-established relationships are iffy to me. Please ask me beforehand if you wanna do a preestablished relationship plot. Nothing romantic though. Shipping is low priority on this blog!! I don't mind shipping our muses, just dm me first!! Do not force ships onto me.
THREADS. Please don't remind me to respond to a thread, especially if it's been only a few days or a week. It makes me stressed. Most of the time, I like to wing my plots. But if you wanna plot, go ahead and dm me!! I'll do the same to you if l'm confused on something, or wanna take the plot a bit further!! If an rp isn't going well for you, please let me know so we can do something better!! I try my best to match writing length.
INTERACTIONS. Only mutuals can have my Discord. If you no longer wish to interact with me, please hardblock me. I will do the same to you- please don't take it personally. Don’t expect icons for a hot second.
ACTIVITY. Don’t expect me to be too active, please. School is up and creativity is finicky.
REBLOG KARMA. If you're going to rb an ask meme/starter/other from me, please send an ask for that meme or thing before doing so or reblog from the source.
ABOUT THE MOD. Hi!! I'm Moss, he/ moth pronouns- I'm a minor. I use tone tags whenever I talk ooc! I don't have too much rp experience, but I have been writing for. A shit ton of years!!! I'm looking forward to writing with all of you! All of these manga panels I reply with have been colored by yours truly, and if any one of you steals it I am going to hunt you down for sport.

@reallybadatbeingpeople Since you asked, I’ll throw my hat into the ring and answer a few questions!
It’s time for… *drum roll please*
Getting to know me better I guess!
3 ships: Wrightworth (phoenix wright and miles edgeworth, I mean how can you not), Reynauld/Dismas from Darkest Dungeon (still haven’t decided if I think of it more romantically or platonically but come on, there’s something so poetic about the two of them), and Greyfax/Celestine from WH40k (debate rages on whether it’s intended based on the text but give the lesbians the win here ok?)
1st ship: The USS Enterprise was the first nuclear powered aircraft carrier, and one of many namesakes for star trek’s most famous ship. (In seriousness, I don’t consume a ton of ship content, so I don’t really have a strong memory of a first per say.
Last song: It was one of two, I’m not sure, but either Miss the rage breakcore by jorj1357 or MIKICHAN by Gutterboysouz. I’ve also been listening to the Dwarf Fortress soundtrack from the new steam release near constantly and I really recommend you check both that game and the soundtrack out.
Last movie: Avatar. (The blue people one, not the air bender one) Wasn’t before but kinda looking forward to the new one now—I forgot how much it felt like James Cameron cared about the project and despite its famed lack of cultural impact I feel like it shows in the movie.
Currently reading: It’s been awhile since I picked it up, but I’m reading through Dune and also through the Chainsaw Man manga. (Just been really busy)
Currently watching: A friend just dragged me into Attack on Titan earlier today and I enjoyed the first two episodes so I guess that’s what I’m watching right now
Currently consuming: Some kinda shitty tacos. Just needed some dinner quick and it’s what was available. Ah well, it’s still food and I’m glad for that (if we didn’t mean food here, I’ve been building the new Leagues of Votann—essentially space dwarf—models they released for Warhammer 40k and having a blast with that).
Currently craving: Some rest, I’m so tired but the end of the year is coming up just a little bit further just a little bit further just a—
Anyways that was kinda fun! Idk who to tag since I’m kind of bad at people but hey mutuals if you want to fill this out anyway it would be cool.

Uh oh Katsuki is in danger
I can’t believe it’s come to this. Every word in this post is going to bring me extreme agony.
I haven’t wanted to say anything about this for a while because I was a) scared of being right and b) extremely terrified of being right. I want a certain subsection of my meta posts to just fade into obscurity and have no one remember them. I want them to be wrong. I didn’t want to have to come back to this.
Fuck it. We’re here. It’s the endgame now.
Hi, let’s talk about how Katsuki is gonna have a bad time.
Tumblr media
Horikoshi delivered unto us a terrifying message at Jump Festa 2022. @hanashimas has a good translation up.
I have desperately wanted to see the Japanese version of it, because holy shit is it cheeky. This asshole. This absolute bastard.
Towards the beginning, he states this:
MHA is at a state where it will reach its goal in a about year….if things go smoothly.
If things don’t go smoothly, then Yamashita [Daiki]-kun will probably be reading the same letter again next year at JumpFes.
I’ve been sluggishly drawing for more than 7 years now, but now that we’re in the Final Act, I plan to vent everything that I’ve been sluggishly saving up until now in it.
The way I read this is, everything he hints about in this letter is related to the endgame. It is the final arc. Any hints here are hints about how it all ends. This is it, buckaroos.
I’ve held off on my opinions about it because I wanted to see the setup of the endgame first. But I did have...feelings when I read the whole message. Those came through in my reblog tags.
Tumblr media
I didn’t elaborate further also because I hoped to do so in a post someday (now). At the time I just was too busy and tired anyways. But you’ve asked, and so shall I deliver.
Here’s the line that sent the internet into a tailspin:
I’ve said this to Okamoto [Nobuhiko]-kun in LINE, but Katsuki will be having his greatest scene in the manga in future developments. I hope people who like Katsuki and hate Katsuki will look forward to it.
It’s cute. You’re all very cute. I’m sure Horikoshi giggled maniacally at your freak-out. I know I did.
But as a Katsuki fan, this is the part that had me screeching:
And then, we have Deku and Shigaraki.
Even though his consciousness is becoming more and more ambiguous, he’s [Shigaraki’s] a mass of destructive instincts and frustrations. He’s the greatest obstacle in Deku’s goal of “saving”.
Saving and Destroying are both born out of ego. Whose ego will win in the end? Is it even a matter of winning or losing? How will things go? What shall I do? What am I supposed to do??
Well, everything’s somehow gonna come off alright I guess!
Do your best, Deku! Destroy it all, Shigaraki! Die, All for One!!
“What? This part? Katsuki isn’t even mentioned! This is explicitly a section about Izuku and Tomura. Why on earth would you lose your mind over this vague bullshit?” - Unenlightened You, 2022
Because it’s in code, you sweet summer children.
The whole damn thing is very, very intentionally using conspicuously specific words to avoid setting off the alarms. Except they actually set off all the alarms. And that’s probably on purpose, because Horikoshi loves telling us exactly what to expect and lets our imaginations do the work to fill in the blanks and fool ourselves. He does this all the damn time.
How do I know? BECAUSE I CAN READ THE DAMN CODE!
It’s true, I’m not always right (gasp) about the ultimate meaning, but I can damn well tell when the code is there pointing in the generally correct direction.
Tumblr media
And now I’ve gathered the signs and assembled the ruins and drawn the circles and pulled out the translation notes and done the calculations and I’m ready to motherfuckin’ do this.
So here’s the tea.
THEORY: Katsuki Bakugou is gonna be possessed
Table of Contents I. The meta warning signs II. “Wait, didn’t you say Izuku was gonna be possessed?” and other sordid tales III. Maybe Izuku is actually a reliable narrator IV. Katsuki’s greatest fear V. The history of One For All VI. Izuku’s unspoken feelings VII. Izuku vs. Tomura but not like that VIII. Decoding Horikoshi’s prophecy IX. tl;dr À̴̡͍͑͘A̵̢̼̟͘͝A̴̢̪͎͒͑̚A̴̟͓̺͛̓͘À̵̪͔͍͊͝A̴̠͖̟̒̓̚Ä̸̡̙͔́͐͠A̴͔̫̼̿͠À̵̠̠͙͒͆Ä̸̢͔̪́̔͐A̴̙͎̪͋̐̒A̵̡̞̓̓̀A̸̘͖͊͆͊A̸̢̟̝̓̐͠A̴͍̺̟͑͝͠A̸̦͍̠͑̈́Ä̵͓͚͓́́͛A̵̺͓̿̔͘͜A̴͕͔͖̽̽͘A̴͕͖͉͆͊̓A̸̝̻͉̐͒A̵̺̞̾̐͜͠A̸͓͖̺͛̐͘A̸͎̝̻̒̈́͝A̵͇̪͎̾̿A̴̪͙͖̓͒A̸̫͖͖͐͌̕A̵̙͕̙̓͘͝A̵̻̙̼͊̈́͠A̴̞̘̟͊̾̕A̸̢̪͔̓̀͒A̵͎̞̪͊͛̀Á̸̢͇̺̚͝A̴̼͕͍̓̓͝Á̸̝̠̫̿͒A̸͎̫͙͑͒Ä̴̡̘̪́͐̿
Here’s what I’m gonna do for you. First, I’m gonna tell you what’s definitely not gonna happen (section I). Second, I’m gonna point out all the allowances I’ve made in my other predictive metas (section II). Third, I’m gonna walk you through all the foreshadowing and unresolved plot points leading to this theory (sections III-VI). Fourth, I’m gonna put all the pieces together for you (section VII). Fifth, I’m gonna decode Horikoshi’s Jump Festa message (section VIII).
And last: I must scream.
I. The meta warning signs
Do you know why the MHA movies exist? Sure, yes, capitalism, money, cool movies, shiny animation, yada yada. But that’s not what I mean. Do you know why the concepts of these movies exist?
These movies exist to show us what if scenarios.
Argue until you’re blue in the face about their canonicity. I could not possibly care less if they count as canon. The point is that they are showing us really awesome things that could have been in the manga proper but for whatever reason won’t be. The movies have been crossing possibilities off the list of things that could happen in the ending.
Two Heroes exists to give us an All Might and Izuku OFA team-up
Heroes Rising exists to give us an Izuku and Katsuki OFA team-up
World Heroes’ Mission exists to give us solo spectacle battles each for Shouto (Flashfire Fist), Katsuki (the thumbs-down victory pose), and Izuku (United States of Don’t Make Me Say It Smash)
These things happened in the movies PRECISELY BECAUSE they would not happen in the manga. We are not getting these things in the manga. All Might lost OFA’s dregs at Kamino Ward. Shouto is not going to use Flashfire Fist. Izuku is not going to do that unmentionable punching atrocity again if he knows what’s good for him. Etcetera, etcetera, etcetera.
Do you understand what I’m saying here? Did y’all see my little endgame bingo card? That little square on the last row labeled “BakuDeku out-of-sync or disagree”?
Katsuki is not getting a cool solo battle where he wins. He’s not getting an All Might or Endeavor victory pose. He’s not getting a fight where he uses One For All even temporarily. He’s not getting a beautifully-synced team battle with Izuku against a common foe.
So...what the fuck is he getting?
I’ve said this to Okamoto [Nobuhiko]-kun in LINE, but Katsuki will be having his greatest scene in the manga in future developments. I hope people who like Katsuki and hate Katsuki will look forward to it.
NOW you have my permission to lose your shit.
II. “Wait, didn’t you say Izuku was gonna be possessed?” and other sordid tales
Look, we’ve all said some things. Some we don’t regret.
I’ve gone deep into my theory several times on how I think Izuku could end up possessed by AFO or even someone else. Technically, I’m not saying that won’t happen still.
I’m just saying I’ve covered my bases.
I wrote this little prediction post a while back about how the MHA ending could end up a bookend of the beginning arc with the sludge villain. I broke the first arc down into a formula I believed could make its comeback in the final arc. That formula went a little something like this:
Villain possesses Person A
Hero saves Person A
Villain possesses Person B
Person A tries to save Person B and fails
Person A’s actions inspire a hero to save both Person A and Person B
And then I spent many words explaining ad nauseum how I knew which characters would be slotted into the formula, just not which spots they’d end up filling:
[...We] know the final battle is going to involve at least these players:
Izuku Midoriya
Katsuki Bakugou
Tomura Shigaraki or All For One
[...]
Will Shigaraki and AFO both be involved in the final battle? It’s possible. Shigaraki is currently possessed by AFO, and we don’t know if that’s going to be resolved before the final battle.
[...]
Will other characters be present? No idea. The possibilities here are endless.
So I’ve broken the events of chapter 1 down into a formula, and I ran it with many different characters. Although I can’t be sure who will play which roles, this is how I currently expect it to play out[...]
The point is, I knew there was a possibility I chose wrong. I knew it was possible Katsuki could end up possessed instead of Izuku, but I went with Izuku for the sake of exploring the formula. I wanted to follow that possibility to its logical conclusion because it interested me.
But I did consider multiple combinations. I did consider that the formula could be played almost exactly the same as it had been in the first chapter. I did consider the possibility that Katsuki would be the one possessed instead of Izuku.
I just kept it to myself because I...sometimes write fanfiction and wanted to use that scenario for something else.
So if you’re interested, read that post again and swap Izuku’s and Katsuki’s roles. See how well that works out. Now panic a little.
Then come back and read through this list of points I’ve lightly explored in other metas that are totally relevant now (click the link if you’d like to read the meta posts, but you’ll find the links repeat at various points in this post later on).
Katsuki is a major piece of the story-line about victims learning to accept help
Katsuki’s name means “self-victory,” so he probably needs to “defeat himself” in some way
Katsuki’s character arc ends with him saving the ultimate victim
The only fight that can end Katsuki’s character arc is Deku vs Kacchan, Part 3
Katsuki and Izuku gotta hold hands in DvK3
Katsuki saves Izuku’s heart by relating to him and opening up
The narrative rewards Izuku for imitating Katsuki
Katsuki has spoken his truth, but Izuku has not (and that’s kind of a death flag)
We’ve seen Katsuki’s “Save to Win,” but we haven’t seen Izuku’s “Win to Save“
Quirks and personalities are tied together, potentially by the concept of “heart”
The Second and Katsuki are connected, possibly by reincarnation
AFO may have the ability to control a person’s actions against their will
AFO may have killed the First, Second, and Third users by controlling them and forcing them to kill each other
Katsuki doesn’t want to be the reason for Izuku’s downfall
Katsuki is a point of weakness for Izuku
Izuku is Katsuki’s inspiration to save people, and Katsuki doesn’t want what happened to All Might to happen to Izuku
AFO is keenly interested in Izuku’s rage state and knows Katsuki works as his weak-point
Tomura is a beautiful butterfly, and Katsuki has the bug-catching net
Katsuki parallels Tomura
Katsuki also parallels Star and that’s terrifying
No seriously, he parallels Star, whom strategically sacrificed herself to cripple the enemy and save her team
If Katsuki somehow gets AFO, it would totally complete this parallel
AFO’s plan is to overwhelm OFA with hatred, but what if the person he possesses uses their emotions to possess him back?
Izuku is walking into the final arc with a smidge of hubris
I’ve connected way too many dots.
III. Maybe Izuku is actually a reliable narrator
All right, let’s see that foreshadowing!
How does everything that came before the final arc lead to this conclusion? Let me count the ways.
Tumblr media
We’ve already seen the above page paralleled when class 1-A went to save Izuku at Kamino, but it could absolutely come back again. This is essentially Deku vs Kacchan, Part 0. We all know the Rule of Threes. I wonder if there will be a kid for Izuku to protect from Katsuki’s wrath in the final arc version. Tenko Shimura, perhaps?
Tumblr media
Ah, the moment I would say the narrator Izuku has gotten his closest to lying to us. When you consider how Katsuki turns down Tomura’s offer to go villainous in Kamino, it really does make Izuku’s narration above seem rather harsh.
But, uh, the story isn’t actually over yet. We can’t say for sure Katsuki doesn’t end on the “path towards bad,” now can we?
Tumblr media
Katsuki has been set up as an example of the “heroes and villains are two sides of the same coin” plot point. There are a lot of parallels between Izuku and AFO, which you could take to mean what you want. To me, it feels like AFO and Izuku are two sides of the same coin: pure good and pure evil. They espouse the same values but from their own camps. They are endpoints on the scale.
Katsuki isn’t on that same scale. His scale is shared with Tomura.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Because they are both compact essence of pure, destructive instinct. Katsuki just represents the heroic side of that instinct as the legacy he inherits from All Might.
We even have Tenko screaming Katsuki’s catchphrase at his origin.
Tumblr media
The Kamino Ward arc sets these two up as parallels pretty explicitly.
Tumblr media
And now, the fact that Katsuki is going to face Tomura without Izuku but with Best Jeanist around is a giant tell that we’re coming back to this point again. Tomura tossed his coin and landed on villain, but there’s more to it than that. His scale is not on pure good versus pure evil but freedom/instinct versus restraint/rationality. His beef is with society. And he thinks Katsuki should have the same problems with society he does.
Katsuki’s coin is gonna get flipped again. And if it lands hero-side-face-up, AFO is there sitting inside Tomura’s body ready to intervene just like last time.
Tumblr media
We’re gonna finally find out what this threat was all about.
IV. Katsuki’s greatest fear
Take a look at all the imagery of Katsuki fighting off the sludge villain’s puppetry in chapter 1/episodes 1 and 2. It’s all over this prediction meta. There’s an entire section dedicated to possession imagery in the whole series in this one.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
And look at his face when he vents his guilt about how his own kidnapping resulted in All Might’s retirement.
Tumblr media
Just so you know, he’s not over it.
Tumblr media
I’ll say it again:
I don’t think it’s a stretch for me to say one of [Katsuki’s] worst fears is being a victim, particularly as a means of getting to someone he cares about such as All Might (just look at his trauma over what happened with the sludge villain in middle school). After all, Katsuki believes All Might’s downfall could have been avoided if only he had been strong enough to not be victimized by AFO and the League of Villains.
So it’s not that Katsuki wants to protect Izuku; Katsuki doesn’t want to be the reason for Izuku’s downfall.
Katsuki did not get his revenge against Shigaraki at Jakuu. He was blatantly denied revenge, in fact.
So he’s going into this final arc with a history of being possessed, a massive and exploitable complex about being victimized, the propensity to blame himself for his part in the downfall of his loved ones, and a problematic vengeance fantasy he’s using to mask his vulnerability.
That’s what we call “tempting fate,” my friends.
V. The history of One For All
That cheeky bastard Horikoshi actually went and left the One For All origin story a mystery until the final arc.
That spells disaster. That means it will be relevant to the ending. And we all know somehow it’s all gonna come back to Katsuki. Because of this asshole.
Tumblr media
And that asshole is the only one whose quirk we don’t yet know.
I’ve given my general thoughts on the possible OFA history and the Second’s possible connection to Katsuki, and I would be remiss if I didn’t reiterate that there’s a possibility AFO can control people against their will and force them to fight their friends. If true, that could come back in a big way for the final arc quite easily.
And then @siflshonen dared to point out to me the resemblance between the Second’s facial scar and this page of nightmare fuel in chapter 286:
Tumblr media
That was the moment I threw up my hands and started writing this damn meta anthology post.
Oh, and let’s not forget that time I compared Yoichi and the Second to Tomura and Katsuki:
Tumblr media
History repeats itself or some shit.
VI. Izuku’s unspoken feelings
There’s one more important piece to this puzzle, and that’s how Izuku plays into everything that will happen.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Given this theory, the above panels are actually painful to read. “The gifted will break this world.” Izuku, please smack this upstart prick.
But the utility of this arc may have been to also serve some purpose in the final battle. There is an interesting focus on Katsuki that we could easily dismiss, even though he’s not involved in the fight.
Tumblr media
And there’s also the question of Izuku’s emotional instability...
Tumblr media
...which AFO learned he could use Katsuki to exploit during the Jakuu battle.
Tumblr media
But...
There’s something else important we learned during that arc as well.
Tumblr media
We learned that just as Izuku sees Katsuki as his Image of Victory, Katsuki very well likely sees Izuku as his Image of Self-Sacrifice.
Tumblr media
Katsuki can probably be used as a point of weakness against Izuku, but what about the other direction? Perhaps Izuku can use himself as a point of strength for Katsuki’s sake.
Izuku still hasn’t told Katsuki he’s Izuku’s Image of Victory.
Tumblr media
It must be said, and we’re going into the final arc now. Where do you think would be a good place in the story for this to come out?
VII. Izuku vs. Tomura but not like that
So here’s the concept:
Much like in my Izuku possession theory, let’s say Katsuki is the one who gets pulled into the Tomura-AFO singularity. He might even do it on purpose as an attempt to sabotage AFO and rescue Tenko, all in a manner similar to how Star(s) & Stripe(s) went out. In the process, he could be swallowed by the vortex of hatred inside Shigaraki and lose his sense of self to it. Izuku definitely goes after him, but how’s he gonna pull Katsuki out? What will the battle really be about here?
It’s going to be about two forces pulling Katsuki in opposite directions (either figuratively or literally).
On the one hand, he’ll have Tomura Shigaraki pulling him in the direction of destructive instincts. Katsuki will be encouraged to let go of his rational brain and just give into the instinct to destroy (or really, explode) that comes with his Explosion quirk. His weakness will be his desire for revenge that merges with the hatred Tomura embodies. He won’t be able to escape so long as he holds onto that dark wish.
On the other hand, he’ll have Izuku pulling him back to the side of heroism and saving, back to rationality, back to his true sense of self. Izuku is the best person to do it because he knows Katsuki best; he emulates Katsuki with everything he does. He’ll tell Katsuki about his Image of Victory and “talk like Katsuki because he wants to win” in order to restore Katsuki’s identity. And Katsuki’s going to finally have to take Izuku’s hand and accept help to get out of there. But, if Tomura wins the tug-o-war, Katsuki will likely pull Izuku into the void with him because Izuku ain’t letting go no matter what. If this doesn’t work, Katsuki will be Izuku’s downfall.
Tumblr media
It’s the classic shoulder-angel versus shoulder-devil scenario. Izuku is our narrator, but Tomura jumps in as the narrator for “My Villain Academia,” and isn’t that convenient? Could it be the narrators are both in the process of trying to reach Katsuki to turn him to their side? Until he chooses, Katsuki is a coin flipped in the air. Which version of his “self” will claim “victory” in the end?
Stare harder at that manga cover!!!
VIII. Decoding Horikoshi’s prophecy
So, I promised I would translate the hidden message in Horikoshi’s Jump Festa words. Here we go now.
I’ve said this to Okamoto [Nobuhiko]-kun in LINE, but Katsuki will be having his greatest scene in the manga in future developments. I hope people who like Katsuki and hate Katsuki will look forward to it.
Katsuki’s gonna do a big thing. In light of where you suspect this is going based on this giant brainrot, you might be able to glean how this scenario could be enjoyed by those readers who both like and dislike Katsuki. There’s going to be a full reckoning of his character down to the core of his identity. And he’s gonna probably do some noble shit in the process.
And then, we have Deku and Shigaraki.
These two will definitely face each other in some way, straightforward fight or not.
Even though his consciousness is becoming more and more ambiguous, he’s [Shigaraki’s] a mass of destructive instincts and frustrations.
Shigaraki is becoming more and more defined by his urge to destroy, his instincts, the personality essence that comes with his Decay quirk. Weird that Horikoshi uses some extremely Katsuki-coded language (“destructive,” “instincts,” “frustrations”) to describe this scenario. Very meta of him to talk about Shigaraki’s consciousness becoming so ambiguous. Wonder if someone else’s consciousness is influencing that ambiguity, and I don’t just mean AFO’s.
[Shigaraki]’s the greatest obstacle in Deku’s goal of “saving”.
That’s a weird way of putting it, Horikoshi. If we were looking at a straightforward fight between Shigaraki and Deku, I’d expect you to word this as “Deku’s greatest obstacle is Shigaraki.” But no, you specifically say Shigaraki is an obstacle to Deku’s goal of saving. So Deku needs to save someone? Who could that be?
Saving and Destroying are both born out of ego. Whose ego will win in the end?
Way to imply that these egos are Izuku (Saving) and Shigaraki (Destroying) without actually naming the characters. Makes it easy for us to just assume you mean Izuku and Shigaraki. But what if you don’t, Horikoshi? What if that’s just what you want us to believe? Because I see that “win” word choice, and that’s more Katsuki-coded language, you precious madman. Could it be that these are Katsuki’s dueling egos? “Whose ego will win in the end?” Perhaps I should read this as: will Izuku’s influence or Shigaraki’s influence over Katsuki have the stronger pull? Who will Katsuki be when he comes out of this?
Is it even a matter of winning or losing? How will things go? What shall I do? What am I supposed to do??
More Katsuki-coded language! Winning or losing? “Is it even a matter of winning or losing?” Ohhhh way to hint that this isn’t a straightforward fistfight at all. I see you, Horikoshi. I see you.
Well, everything’s somehow gonna come off alright I guess!
It fuckin’ better.
Do your best, Deku! Destroy it all, Shigaraki! Die, All for One!!
HORIKOSHI, I STILL SEE YOU.
“Do your best, Deku!” Do his best at what? Fighting? Saving? Something else? That’s definitely a reference to the newer meaning behind the Deku nickname.
“Destroy it all, Shigaraki!” Give into those instincts, Handsy! P.S. What all is it he’s supposed to destroy exactly? His enemies? Society? The world? AFO? The AFO quirk? The OFA quirk? Oh hey, “all” is in the names of both AFO and OFA, huh...
“Die, All For One!!” THAT’S KATSUKI’S CATCHPHRASE, YOU MONSTER. I FUCKING SEE YOU AND YOU’RE NOT SMOOTH.
VIII. tl;dr À̴̡͍͑͘A̵̢̼̟͘͝A̴̢̪͎͒͑̚A̴̟͓̺͛̓͘À̵̪͔͍͊͝A̴̠͖̟̒̓̚Ä̸̡̙͔́͐͠A̴͔̫̼̿͠À̵̠̠͙͒͆Ä̸̢͔̪́̔͐A̴̙͎̪͋̐̒A̵̡̞̓̓̀A̸̘͖͊͆͊A̸̢̟̝̓̐͠A̴͍̺̟͑͝͠A̸̦͍̠͑̈́Ä̵͓͚͓́́͛A̵̺͓̿̔͘͜A̴͕͔͖̽̽͘A̴͕͖͉͆͊̓A̸̝̻͉̐͒A̵̺̞̾̐͜͠A̸͓͖̺͛̐͘A̸͎̝̻̒̈́͝A̵͇̪͎̾̿A̴̪͙͖̓͒A̸̫͖͖͐͌̕A̵̙͕̙̓͘͝A̵̻̙̼͊̈́͠A̴̞̘̟͊̾̕A̸̢̪͔̓̀͒A̵͎̞̪͊͛̀
Katsuki’s character arc of learning to save people necessitates that he saves an unsavable victim at the end. Since he’s going to face Tomura without Izuku’s help, Katsuki is probably going to be the one who saves Tenko Shimura.
However, MHA defines heroism as both victory and self-sacrifice. For Katsuki to truly demonstrate his mastery of saving, this rescue will have to involve a drastic sacrifice on his part. He may find some way of swapping himself in for Tomura or just dive in after him in order to save Tenko from AFO’s possession.
Izuku is the main character. He’s gotta come in and save someone. But he’s also gotta come in and win a big fight to demonstrate his mastery of victory. If Tenko can’t fill either role of victim or enemy, then Katsuki’s gonna have to play both parts.
AFO has the potential to force others to move against their wills. He has the potential to force friends to fight each other.
In all likelihood, we’re gonna have Katsuki stuck in the middle of Izuku and Tomura’s fight, but it will be one where the Tomura-AFO singularity tries to force Katsuki to lose himself to destructive instincts while Izuku vies to revive Katsuki’s sense of self and break him out. Or, there’s the possibility that Katsuki intends to self-destruct in order to take the Tomura-AFO singularity down with him while Izuku tries to convince him not to.
Hey, they’re fighting at UA! That’s where Ground Beta is! Deku vs. Kacchan, Part 3 where it ends with holding hands, anyone?
And now, I commence the screaming.

character(s): Getou Suguru (jjk)
;| nsfw undercut |;
Tumblr media
Getou’s mouth tasted no sweeter than the moments he had his lips around your fingers.
The only thing that would rid him of that horrific taste curses contained. Day in and day out. Searching for something to cure his aliment of such a cursed life steeped in sorrow. Until he found just what he needed. In his sister of all people.
Footsteps announce his arrival before the two women tending to you do. You stop reading the second he comes into the room. Lavished to the teeth in things only those from money could technically afford. You don’t rushto look up from the book in your lap as Getou dismisses the servants that were at your side. He argued previously that they weren’t servants but those who served his cause. You would laugh but let your little brother do as he must.
Finally when he stands in front of you long enough, you fold the book and look up at the not so little brother before you, “...you look tired Suguru.”
Those words not even an invitation. But he doesn’t care. Alone in your shared room he drops to his knees and lays his head in your lap. Replacing the book all together with his mass of black hair draped over your legs. With a gentle tug you release the rest of his wonderfully silken hair from it’s messy bun. Letting your fingers dance along the fringes of his face until combing your fingertips through his locks.
“You could have asked the servants to draw you a bath.” You remind him softly when he sighs in your presence.
“...they are not servants, those who just seek to help our cause.” Getou muttered into your thigh. His face turning to press his cheek to the warmth of your inner leg. Eye naturally closed as he relaxed into the half embrace. His arms came up to your sides as he curled them around your waist and slumped into your touch, “...You smell nice.”
“Just for you.” It was true. At all times you tried to anchor your younger brother with a sweet familiar scent. You didn’t inherit his same curse technique but as he described it over the years the least you could do was offer him an oasis in the soft smell of your skin.
Getou hummed, eyes still closed, “If only every human was like you.”
“Every human cannot be like me. Unless they were to come from me.”
He leaned into your thigh, “I strive for a world with more of you in it...if people were more like you then-”
“Shhh.” You hushed him with a gentle touch, “That’s enough. You’re tired Suguru.”
That wasn’t false. Getou nodded as he lifted his face from the crook of your legs, “...I wish to give this world nothing more than someone like you...my beautiful sister.”
Charismatic with his words. It was so easy to see why so many people would listen to your brother. Words adorn with nothing but truth, you cup his face as you lean down. Placing your lips against his in a tended exchange.
Leaning up into you Getou’s arms tightened around your waist. Wanting the kiss to deepen in the very moment. Clinging to the taste of your lips as fleeting as it was. For as long as the rancidness of a curse lingered on his tongue. Your taste left him too soon.
Broken for a breath you look at your brother’s expression and hum something with a smile. Replacing your lips with your fingers. Drawing them along Getou’s bottom lip until he opened right away.
“That’s a good boy,” You mutter softly, feeling Getou swirl his tongue around you two fingers. Sucking at them with a hint of desperation. It isn’t until you feel the low moan from him that you draw your fingers from his lips. A dribble of spit following suit.
Turning his attention to your inner thigh, Getou began pressing kisses all along your inner thigh as his words came slowly between the kisses, “...please...let me fill you. Let us make a better world together...you understand. You’ve always understood.”
Once again you hush his exhausted words. Ones you’ve heard a million times since the village was destroyed by his hands. Words you wish to live but haven’t found the right time. And as Getou’s kisses creep up your legs once more. You find it less of a thought to continue the strive for a safer word but instead only consumed by the selfish want of your brother.
Your legs fall apart. Baring the nothing you wore under your robe. Getou’s kisses did not stop at the sight of your uncovered slit. Instead he leaned forward and drew his tongue along your inner most thigh as he caught a scent of your sweet musk mixed with your everyday softness. He relished it. Finding his mouth watering. Only to bite back and look up at you for a moment.
“Go ahead...I’ve always love my little brother’s work.” You smile, touching his cheek as you guide him back between your legs.
That’s all Getou needs to hear. Your praise and your intention to everything he’s done. Within seconds his tongue finds what it’s sought out. Deviling into your folds he moans with gratitude for your taste to wash away everything bitter in the world. The sweet muskiness engulfing his senses as Getou washes his tongue over your clit.
Unmistakably greedy. He devours you in seconds. Mouth open wide as he sucks and slurps up your slit. More than accommodating when you hike one leg up on his shoulder. Hands continuing to run through his hair as Getou showers your most intimate parts in all his attention. Drawing closer and closer with a stomach tightening knot only made worse when his tongue slips inside you.
“Mmm that’s right....forget the taste of a curse. I’m right here, I’m all you need.” Your sweet musing are interrupted by moans. Falling past your lips as Getou looks up at you. His tongue writing against your entrance as his finger has found your clit. Leaving you nothing but a love drunken look down at him. Stroking his face until your fingers tangle in his hair. Tightening your grip as the wave of pleasure becomes a little too much to hold off.
A firm grip on your thighs to hold you in place. Your little brother rides out your orgasm with the slick of your cunt being licked up frantically. Getou refusing to waste one drop of your wonderful taste. Even as it’s smeared on his lips and infused in his nose. He doesn’t stop until the grip on his hair is loosened and he looks up at you. Chest heaving and smile on your lips. You touch down his face and draw your fingers over your juices on his cheeks. Wiping them clean before presenting them to his lips. Getou eagerly opening his mouth to lick them clean.
“Come here,” You tap on your thigh, “You’re not too big to sit on my lap are you?”
A very redundant question. Even as adults he wouldn’t turn you down. Getou had to perch on the side of your chair but was more than happy to do so when your hands slipped past his robes.
“Sister...” Getou mumbled when he felt your touch against his cock. Leaving him little chance to hide the twitch in his already hard member as you took him in your grasp.
“Shh...you wanted to make a world filled with us right?” You ask, looking up at him as you slowly pump his cock, “So why not do just that? Give me all your cum Suguru, and we can have all the babies in the world.”
He groaned. Lewd words making him grip the edge of the chair as your hand squeezed him. He could feel every nerve in his body on fire. Pleasure from your hand, the taste of you on his lips and the sweet scent he only knew as his big sister. Left Getou a mess as he looked down fuzzy with pleasure at your hand.
With the way your fingers moved over his swollen tip. Smearing his precum as you went like it was second nature to do so you. No one knew his body like you did. Getou would not argue that. The way you made him feel. It was the reason you were the only surviving member left. He needed you as badly as he wanted you.
“S-Shit-” Teeth clenched Getou huffed in one ragged breath. Urging you to perhaps stop if you wanted to go further. But that fell on deaf ears.
Your fingers curling around his cock tighter. You quicken your pace only a moment before you felt the throb to his cock. A smile crossing your lips as there wasn’t even a warning before his cum spilled all over your hand. Getou’s low rumbling moans filling the space between the two of you as he rode out his orgasm with each slow stroke of his cock.
Even as the last dribble of cum oozed out of him. Getou was left taking a deep breath. Suddenly feeling as tired as you said he looked. With a half lidded look he watched you with his cum soiling you hand. For a second he didn’t realize what you were doing before you took his cum and smeared it on your cunt.
Feeling his cum slimy and sticky on your cunt. You make sure he’s watching as you dip your fingers inside and with it, Getou’s cum, “Lets make a world safe for us. Lets fill this world with nothing but sweet love Suguru.”

ORISHA'S 1K EVENT :: CLOSED
Tumblr media
it's too hot.
it feels as though the room's humidity has wiggled into your flesh and decided to breathe it's next cycle down your bones. beads of sweat choose home at the base of your neck but you don't care to wipe it away.
you're afraid that one mishap would wisp geto elsewhere and with the way his eyes bore into your own, it's bound to happen.
"you haven't talked to me in the longest." you purse your lips as his expression morphs into confusion because of your words. his confusion is genuine. with that in heed, a ball of flammable material sits in your throat. by your sides, your hands twitch and form into fists because now, there's a god-awful itch.
"it didn't seem like you wanted to." there's enough truth; he's been closed off lately, sharp-edged and washed anew.
you want to ask but you want him to pour out every truth on the tiled ground beneath you. geto's always been so easy with words, in conveying his thoughts (something you've wholeheartedly admired) but he's changed.
geto suguru has wilted into a person you don't know, cultivated into a hidden bud. and his eyes no longer tinge with familiarity.
but whether the sound of echoing cicadas outside was loud or low, it didn’t matter. you just needed to carry your words to him, to imprint them into (what you still hoped to be) that unwavering soul of his. who knew if you would be given another chance?
though before you can, he’s talking, muttering a few words with the voice that had always caused the butterflies in your stomach to go in a frenzy. your wrist burns, the bracelet he’d given to you clamped onto your skin.
and at first, his words don’t register, seeing that it’s more than likely your body knows what you should or shouldn’t hear.
"do you have a cigarette?" his divergence pulls a scowl from your lip.
when you don’t answer, he leans closer and you don't have the gall to move back. you can’t talk either because every function is aimed at keeping your only thought saddled close in mind.
but it's his closeness that sets you off.
"no, i don't. you're asking the wrong person."
he snorts, deep and low. it sounds like the old him. "you sure? ieiri doesn't buy an extra pack for you?"
you sigh, pulling out a small, rectangular box.
"we're not supposed to smoke in here."
"yaga won't mind." he would definitely mind but you don’t offer a rebuttal.
"here." you always have a lighter in your back pocket.
the air mends with the smell of bitter smoke and your laughter. geto always had a tendency to only crack jokes when night towered, something about the throes of his prior missions finally letting him go.
"[........], forgive me." your smile falters, the bubble of temporary joy wanes then disappears.
"forgive you for what?" a warm palm envelopes your cheek. unconsciously, you press further into it, gazing into his eyes. even though it's dark, you know that they're the color of dark verbena.
"just forgive me." the meaning of his words hang in the air; i can't tell you.
"geto–" before you can finish, he's pressing his forehead against yours and you can feel his breath on your lips.
but you're leaning in and he's pulling away.
"thank you for the cigarette. i'll see you tomorrow." he turns with a wave. you blink, brain stuck in a stupor, eyes set on his retreating figure.
"geto!" you start but falter, the two syllables leaving your lips with regret that rattled your bones.
later, when you hear word of geto's crimes, you don't react the way you would have envisioned. instead, you reminisce, shuffling through moments with a small smile.
perhaps you'd already seen it, the litany of madness beneath his words, his actions, his touch. the colors of it were in no way erasable, already following him since that instance or birth, tucked beneath his liver; tied to his fate. and perhaps you’d already forgiven him.
he turns back, long hair swishing in tune with movement. "mhm?"
I love you.
I love you.
I love you.
"have a nice night, geto."
he smiles. it's genuine. "you too."

How did sexism play a role in affecting tpn?
※ I'm not tagging this as spoiler since I think it might be of interest for anime onlys as well, however some manga events and characters are mentioned here. It's not any major plot point, but pay special attention or avoid reading this if you don't want to stumble across any spoiler at all.
I don't think Anon follows my blog (otherwise the question would have most likely come a long time ago, since sexism in the second season of the anime is an issue I have mentioned several times already), so I think it's fine to link back to all the posts I could find that addressed the matter. Here's some posts that underline in what ways the anime has been sexist:
First of all you'll want to read this post: as I hope to have made clear, it is not only about what she's wearing, it's never about what a girl is wearing.
Secondly here is an early reaction to episode 5 that hopefully clears up what's wrong with Emma's character in the second season
Further readings that address to the matter, approximately in chronological order from when I first read them:

(ノ◕ヮ◕)ノ*.✧
(ノ◕ヮ◕)ノ*.✧
(ノ◕ヮ◕)ノ*.✧ (I think this post summarizes pretty well what makes Emma so amazing and revolutionary both as a female protagonist and as a shonen jump protagonist and cutting all of this from her character is, in my opinion, automatically sexist)

(ノ◕ヮ◕)ノ*.✧
(ノ◕ヮ◕)ノ*.✧ (this one is in Turkish but can be easily understood with the support of an online translator)
(ノ◕ヮ◕)ノ*.✧
Probably more were made when episosode 6 came out, but I haven't been following the anime as much since episosode 5 so I can't know. Maybe if I'll find any new post on the matter I'll update this ask.
Anyway, to sum up the main points:
• Emma wears a skirt for no reason, enforcing female clothing categories
• Emma is the only girl showed hunting; additionally, her hunting skills are significantly decreased compared to her manga abilities
• Emma isn't the one to kill the wild demon, and the moment was given to her male counterpart to shine
• The fact that Emma was shown being interested in the shelter garden, while in the manga it was so beautiful to have gender roles subverted with her going out haunting and her male counterpart cooking
• The fact that as soon as Emma loses the support of her (occasionally implied love interest) other male counterpart she becomes weak and depressed and useless
• The fact that she thinks she was wrong and naïve not believing in her male friends' words and following her ideals instead (which is so dumb like... Yeah Emma it surely would have been better to leave them all to die)
• The fact that in the demon town she's the only one not carrying a bow to defend herself (?????)
• How she was clearly dumbed up (though this happened to pretty much all the GF children)
• How Emma has lost all her leader qualities she showed in the manga
• Look the simple fact that. I can't think of a significative thing she's done since the start of the second season. She didn't provide for everyone's food. She didn't make any plan to go save Phil. She's just been crying over herself as the next shonen female side character (can she even be considered the protagonist at this point??)
• One of the most striking things is how anime Emma compared to manga Emma has lost all of her independence and individuality. She has no plan, no idea on how to go on, and is quite literally waiting for some (guy) to come and save her. The way Norman was introduced in the anime as a savior was so upsetting.
• Honestly I consider having cut out so many arcs that showed how strong, resilient, brave, determined she is to be sexist on its own
• The only thing that's left of her character is being kind which is... Honestly extremely problematic. One thing is to show a complex and multilayered character who, among many other qualities and strong points, is also kind and emphatic; another thing is enduring the stereotype that kindness and empathy are the only characteristics girls can have.
• Emma is kind, but not stupid; she doesn't like to kill demons, but she won't hesitate to do so in case they create an immediate danger for her family. Her helping the demon at the temple doesn't make any sense.
And this is only about Emma. It's clearly sexist:
• Don's line in episode 4 that literally translates to “don't cry Rossi, boys don't cry” that is,,,, not only unspeakably gross, but also unbelievably ooc from Don who always supports his family and has cried like five times in the manga, always without an ounce of shame.
• Cutting the scene of Gilda being badass in chapters 59 and 96, that featured her repeatedly threatening a grown-up man
• Not including an arc with amazing female characters with breathtaking fights. In Goldy Pond all the girls are always displayed as being equal to guys in their fighting skills; the best (or at least very talented) snipers are considered to be girls, while the medics are two guys (I like to stress this point because it would have been very easy to introduce a sweet kind nurse girl in that role).
• Honestly cutting Gillian deserves to be mentioned on its own. Such a great complex female character. Her role in Goldy Pond was outstanding, and her scenes in chapters 110, 130, 145 and 172 give so much deepness to her character. Moreover, showing how she doesn't sympathize with demons makes her a nice counterpart to Emma, building a solid cast of diverse female characters with different inclinations and natures. Not to mention how we won't have Gillian chosing to support Emma no matter her opinions, which was such an heartwarming example of girls supporting each other. Honestly I can't not consider sexist to exclude such a well written female character.
• Cutting Anna being praised without shame or envy by her male friends to have become the best of them all in the medicine field (a field women have a particularly hard time being employed in), and her male friends aknoweledging how hard she worked to get her competence.
This is only on top of my mind but there's definitely more. Additionally, we still have to see whether they're intentioned to include Ayshe (a great woc who is mysterious, reserved and an impressive fighter, typical qualities assigned to males) and Legravalima (a badass villain who is greedy and at the top of the demon society, again a typically male role). The changes of Isabella's storyline most likely mean they're also going to change (or fully skip) chapter 170, which was such an empowering moment for the mamas and made such a nice metaphor of women overthrowing an oppressive system to find freedom.
Honestly, I could have ignored some of these things had they been lone cases, but all of this together? Again, I'm not saying that CloverWorks is entirely bad, but the second season of the tpn anime surely cannot be praised for its female representation.

Magic Kaito vs. Magic Kaito 1412
I’m not sure if I ever finished all twelve episodes, but I first watched at least a handful of the original Magic Kaito specials about a decade ago, and I remember really enjoying them. Superhero stories are among my favorites, and while both Magic Kaito and its sister series Detective Conan overlap with the genre in various ways—after all, Conan’s glasses were literally inspired by Clark Kent—Kaito’s flashy costume alone pushes his adventures more in that direction. So, maybe it’s no wonder that, back in the day, I kind of considered Magic Kaito my preferred series of the two.
Recently, I’ve got a reignited interest in the DCMK world (evidently). And it’s not a bad time to have a reignited interest, because English-language accessibility for this universe is much better now than it was ten years ago. Conan’s getting new movie dubs, and Kaito’s newer, expanded TV series, Magic Kaito 1412, is freely available on Crunchyroll. Obviously, I had to give it a shot.
I wasn’t impressed. Far from it. I chalked up my old fondness to nostalgia goggles. Kid the Phantom Thief is simply more enjoyable in Detective Conan than in his own thing, I figured.
But a few weeks ago, those old specials went up on Crunchyroll Germany. And it took me a while, but I finally decided to figure out the truth, once and for all. Have my tastes totally changed, or has Magic Kaito anime not always been Like That?
I was impressed. I watched all of one episode, and I enjoyed it so much more than 1412.
Which surprised me! Just examining the first episodes of both series, they’re honestly practically identical. They cover the same story beats almost exactly. Kaito’s introduction is even consistently him being disgusting to Aoko—behavior that, nauseatingly, convinced me that Mineta of the My Hero Academia series would actually be adored if he were conventionally attractive.
But as it turns out, that’s relevant to why the original Magic Kaito strikes me as far more palatable. Kaito’s actions towards Aoko are still indefensible in the old special, but he doesn’t repeat them on his teacher, and there are repercussions. Unlike in 1412, Kaito doesn’t get away with his harassment because his teacher finds him charming; in fact, Aoko even later notes that he “should be thankful [he] [wasn’t] expelled,” implying that he was indeed punished harshly for what he did. While Aoko assures Kaito’s mother that he didn’t get in trouble in 1412, in the original special, it’s clear that being cute isn’t enough to give him a free pass for disrupting class and being gross.
Further, in a more general sense, the tone of both series is of course goofy overall, but the characters in the old Magic Kaito feel much more like human beings than the cartoonish caricatures portrayed in 1412. A scene especially missing from the new show is a quiet one where Kaito and Aoko walk together after school. With the sun hanging low in the sky and a sparkling river flowing beside them, Kaito expresses his disappointment in how his magic trick didn’t exactly end as planned. “I guess I need to work on my finale,” he bemoans, but Aoko is more concerned with why he feels the need to pull these ridiculous stunts in the first place.
She quickly gets her answer. One of the exuberant little kids who had run by them earlier falls over and cries, and Kaito doesn’t hesitate to cheer him up with magic. And Aoko watches. She sees the way the little boy’s face lights up. She sees how he runs off again with renewed energy. And she smiles. She doesn’t say it, but the audience gets the message.
Oh. That’s why Kaito’s a magician. That’s why Aoko walks by his side.
I won’t claim to fully comprehend Kaito’s character. I haven’t read the manga, it’s been years since I’ve seen more than the first episode of these old specials, I’ve only watched about 20% of 1412, and for as much as I’ve been posting about Detective Conan lately, I’m (maybe humorously) about the farthest thing from current and would only be able to tell you about Kid’s first appearance in that show. But when Kaito returns to his empty home in the original series, and when he announces that he’s there to nobody at all, and when he welcomes himself back, all with a smile and a cheerfulness to his tone, I deeply feel his loneliness. I feel the weight of his lost father. I feel that, even if some of his tricks are inappropriate and inexcusable, he does them because he wants to make people laugh. He doesn’t want anyone to feel as sad and alone as he’s felt.
Maybe I missed it, but I didn’t get any of that from Magic Kaito 1412.
And they’re small things, they really are. But they make a world of difference. Even Jii, who really only becomes more than just a mysterious figure in the episode’s closing minutes, feels more like a tangible person in the special. He loudly gasps for breath after performing the magical, fantastical feats of his old friend, and it’s such a tiny, minuscule detail, but when watching, I feel it so strongly. I literally understand the strain of Toichi’s loss on Jii, too.
Beyond narrative decisions—and there are others that I much prefer in the old series, such as how Kaito links his failed magic trick to his father’s “poker face” philosophy, and how Kaito uses a successful variation of his earlier trick to escape the police as Kid the Phantom Thief—I also just simply prefer the original art style. Magic Kaito 1412 is slick and shiny and modern, but in being so, it strikes me as much more generic than the older-styled 2010 special. Shot compositions also feel more powerful in the first anime; just consider how differently the two series handle what is arguably the emotional height of the entire episode:
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
[Image descriptions: A series of four comparison images examining how the 2010 Magic Kaito series and the 2014 Magic Kaito 1412 portray the same sequence of events. In both, Kaito asks Jii, “Dad was murdered?! Was my dad... a thief? Was he Kid the Phantom Thief?” Kaito then says, “I see...” End image descriptions.]
While the dialogue is essentially unchanged, the old show’s use of close-ups expresses the tension of the scene spectacularly. You can see the terror in Kaito’s eyes. You can see how the thought of his father being a thief is so distressing that merely asking the question is painful and heartwrenching. You can see the sweat on Kaito’s face. You can see in great detail how much he struggles to grapple with this new truth.
Magic Kaito 1412 is significantly more distanced. And there’s power in that decision, too. The revelation is overwhelming. It’s hard to take. Kaito may want to get away from it, but he can’t.
However, I resonate more with how the original series handles the moment. Seeing how everything affects Kaito way up close speaks much more to me—and there are still some fantastic long shots, too:
Tumblr media Tumblr media
[Image descriptions: Two screenshots from the original Magic Kaito series. Both are distanced long shots. In the first image, Kaito and Jii kneel on the ground. Kaito’s hands are on Jii’s shoulders. In the second image, Kaito stands, facing away from Jii, while Jii remains on the ground in shame. They wear identical outfits in both images, and their capes blow in the wind. End image descriptions.]
Gotta love those capes.
Overall, my feelings on Magic Kaito as a whole could probably be best described as somewhat mixed. And I’m kind of new here, and I don’t even know when it’s appropriate to use the #dcmk tag, so I of course don’t have the slightest clue about how popular or unpopular my opinion that the 2010 Magic Kaito series ranks above 2014′s Magic Kaito 1412 is.
But skipping down memory lane and revisiting the old show was pleasantly surprising. Maybe my affection for Magic Kaito will never reach the highs it once had all those years ago, but it was almost comforting to find that my tastes haven’t changed all that much—rather, it’s Magic Kaito itself that’s changed.

Alright boys, girls, and nonbinary folks of the world. It’s 5:36am (1/30 when I first started) as I decide to give up on my attempt to continue to focus on learning statistics, avoid studying for my two upcoming midterms, and put off my two actual essays for two different classes.
Instead we’re going into a dive about ✨ KazuFuuma ✨ . Is this me telling you you gotta ship it? No of course not, you’re entitled to your own ships! You don’t really gotta care about it as a ship. But I do want people to recognize it’s THERE canonically, and how disregarding it is extremely unfair to Kazuki as a character particularly. Also, I’m working on the assumption anyone clicking this at least knows the bare bones about what KazuFuuma (ex. You know they are a ship of Kazuki/Fuuma from Dolce, you know they are childhood friends, you know who Dolce is, you know about Honeyworks, etc.) I’ll be making references to specific things, but I won’t always go into heavy detail. Might just hope you know it or take my word for what it is, and go into analyzing it. Some I’ll put direct references to find, but some I’ll trust you can find it yourself. If you somehow read this MAMMOTH and want reference to a specific thing mentioned, hmu I can help you find it!!
Also I hate tumblr formatting sm if you legit wanna read this 7 page essay but hate tumblr format lmk I'll add it as a google doc link instead too. anYWHO
Before actually getting into the meat of things lemme preface some stuff.
Again it’s like almost 6am so this will be disorganized and very train of thought (and likely long due to the fact when I fly by the seat of my pants I’m known to get unnecessarily extensive). It’s definitely gonna be in large part why it’s important to recognize as a romantic relationship foundation and what about it shapes Kazuki’s character in particular. Maybe a bit of how it’s been built up and its general focus and implications. Dunno yet. We’ll see LMAOO
I say f*ck. Not a lot, just a handful of times. This ain’t something scholarly this is for my own enjoyment so if you don’t like that might not wanna read. And it’s not like spitefully I just curse a lot if you haven’t...read my tags before lol
Again this is through the lens of a Kazuki stan. Of COURSE I’m going to have some level of bias, but if anything that bias may help more than hurt because that means I become FIXATED and think a lot about Kazuki. Which plays into establishing just how important it is that Kazufuuma’s relationship is recognized, especially in a romantic light at this point. Lmfao.
I’ll have a few more prefaces about the actual content below but to keep this from getting too long if you wanna read come below the cut owo
I have extremely limited knowledge of Japanese just taking a few classes in highschool (so like 3 yrs ago) and live in America. This means a lot of my knowledge is gathered through the english translations of the super duper incredible and lovely people in the Honeyworks fandom who provide translations (delaix and takanenene esp have provided so much for me being able to understand Dolce) and my own limited Japanese paired with Google Translate for things that remain untranslated.
This only will be drawing on information I have come in contact with and have access to and making assumptions based on that, most (if not all) of which is in the public domain. So things like the Dolce Manga Volumes released via Animate, exclusive 4komas, and Light Novels are out of my area for the most part (apart from again snippets of translations thanks to this fandom’s godlike and generous translators).
I will not be drawing on anything from the first Dolce album with the exception of Nade Nade. From a meta standpoint, I consider those songs as songs made as performance media as opposed to character explorations. Nade Nade is the exception because (1) it was released a whole year before the album and (2) you can tell it’s explicitly an exploration of Fuuma and Kazuki’s interpersonal relationship even if it’s in a slightly more performance based context than the songs that came out with the Dolce LNs. Easiest parallel I can make to show this is if you held Non-Fantasy, Yume Fanfare, and Samishigariya up against each other, you could tell the difference in intended audience and intended purpose the same way the Dolce 1st album, Nade Nade, and the songs of the LNs do respectively. Even if there is some basis to ground Kazufuuma, for the purposes of this essay I’ll be acting under the assumption the 1st album falls under the Non-Fantasy equivalent category.
THAT WAS A LOT OF PREFACING CONSIDERING LIKE 2 PPL WILL PROBABLY READ IT I just have a tendency to anytime I do anything analytical lay down ground acknowledgements for myself to work on just...cuz it makes me feel less guilty for any accidental misinformation even if I’m writing towards my future self to read lolll IM SORRY WITHOUT FURTHER TO DO HERE’S THE BRAIN DUMP
First let’s go ahead and establish why it needs to be recognized as an important relationship. Again, I’m a Kazuki stan. He’s my favorite character not only of Dolce but also of the entire Honeyworks series, and as much as I love him for reasons outside the ship, whether you like it or not Kazufuuma is an essential aspect of his character and narrative. Of course there’s the fact that him and Fuuma are childhood friends, so that’s going to in part define their characters and interactions with each other and those around them. They’re both going to be relevant to one another and important to one another’s stories to an even greater extent than the rest of the members of Dolce. But on Kazuki’s side at least, it’s an EXTREME amount. A running plotpoint in Dolce Diary is the sheer amount of dedication Kazuki has to Fuuma and how much his thoughts and decisions are influenced by Fuuma, whether it be how he feels happiest spending time with Fuuma, how he decided to get his piercing to represent he wanted to protect Fuuma, how he doesn’t want to dislike food so he can eat what Fuuma dislikes, etc. Not to mention running jokes about his borderline overprotectiveness and downright possessiveness of Fuuma, how proud he is when Fuuma gets praised, or that one 4koma that literally explicitly states he can read Fuuma’s mind when he thinks motherfucking ‘dirty thoughts’ about his childhood friend (Fuuma). I still don’t know what the fuck to make of that last bit. Genuinely. Or the fact it’s a fucking running joke. As in it’s not a one off. It’s been brought up multiple times. Kazuki what the fuck.
That’s not to say that he doesn’t have character outside of Fuuma or he doesn’t interact with people other than Fuuma. He’s great friends with Sara, Girisha, and Kippei and is shown time and time again to have fun interactions with all of them, generally acting as the best support friend for every member of the group, not Fuuma alone. For instance how he helps Kippei with his self confidence issues or stays over at Sara’s to protect him from a cockroach (which he fails at lol). Nor is that to say all his interactions involving Fuuma focus solely on his devotion to Fuuma, especially in instances where the manga focuses on Dolce as a group dynamic (though even in that setting there are times where jokes about his devotion are thrown in). He’s kind, he’s stupid, he’s friendly, he’s an amazing character in his own right, and I love him for all those reasons. But that doesn’t change the fact a major part of his character and his character interactions are rooted in Fuuma, and arguably some of his most interesting, eccentric, and notable behaviors and traits revolve around Fuuma (again the mind reading for example).
Hell let’s take it one step further. If you look at the character bios of the Dolce members, you get everyone’s motives for being an idol and interests. Of them, Kazuki is the only one to have another character mentioned directly, not to mention that supporting Fuuma is explicitly stated to be his primary motive as to why he became an idol. Not even Fuuma’s sister is mentioned, though two arguments can be made for this. The first would be that Fuuma’s backstory about wanting to fulfill his dream for himself and his sister was decided later to explain Fuuma’s choice to crossdress though it can be argued it was intentionally done to leave it as a reveal at a later date, to which I would argue I don’t think this backstory was a choice in post. While Fuuma’s dedicated Dolce Diary extra exploring that backstory was released a little less than a year after Dolce was revealed, the preview to set up Fuuma’s backstory was actually the first thing released after the character bios on the Dolce Official Twitter page if you exclude a drawing of Dolce from Yamako. The second argument could be that information about his sister was intentionally withheld to set up the reveal when Fuuma’s extra released to explore it. However, going by that logic (which I do agree with), that would also mean that Fuuma’s inclusion and importance in Kazuki’s character bio also set up his dedicated extra, which I don’t think would be incorrect to assume considering what his actual extra turned out being.
Which brings me to the thing that makes it inexplicable to write off the romantic implications behind Kazufuuma: Kazuki’s dedicated Dolce Diary extra, Suki. I shipped Kazufuuma before even knowing of Suki, sure. But the fact that Suki even exists is a shock to me and drove into me the fact that Kazufuuma wasn’t just my own projection. Again, it’s not a surprise that Fuuma shapes Kazuki’s life. They’re childhood friends, of course they’re going to be important to each other. But this extra explicitly brought Kazuki’s feelings towards Fuuma under a direct spotlight. At first I was thinking oh, this extra was just to acknowledge the fact that Kazuki and Fuuma’s relationship can have romantic implications, but the end of it the conclusion that we got was that it didn’t matter what type of “like” he felt for Fuuma. Originally, I thought it wasn’t anything more than saying there are all types of like, and it doesn’t always need to be explicitly defined, but I appreciated the fact they were aware that they were writing Kazuki in a way that conveyed romantic implications.
Then I thought about it because, again, I love Kazuki of course I’m going to think about his character extra, and realized...that’s not how these character extras have worked. There are only three character extras out as far as I know and have read: Fuuma, Kippei, and Kazuki. If we look at Fuuma and Kippei’s, each extra had a conclusion, sure, but they didn’t have a resolution. Rather, they were simply setting up explicitly what each character’s primary character arc and conflict were. Fuuma’s extra brought attention to the fact that he’s particularly a crossdressing idol by exploring the motives behind it. His choice to be a crossdressing idol is constantly under fire both by himself and the world around him. He’s not immune to those who consider his crossdressing strange, and a part of his story is both finding people who accept his decision to crossdress and to succeed for himself as a crossdressing idol. It’s an essential part of how we understand and define him as a character and it’s a central part of how he interacts with the world around him. For Kippei, it lays the severity of his insecurity under the spotlight and his journey and motives for improving himself. Again, this isn’t something isolated and resolved in the extra; his extreme insecurity and negativity is constantly affecting how he interacts with practically everyone from his fellow Dolce members to his fans despite the fact in all honesty? He’s fucking insanely talented in his own right, his own brother mentioning how smart he is and how he has amazing reflexes. For Kippei, his negativity is an essential part of how we understand and define him and central to how he interacts with the world as much as Fuuma’s decision to crossdress is to him.
Which brings us back to Kazuki, of course. In his dedicated extra, in the chapter that’s supposed to explore and establish and bring attention to an essential part of his character, the aspect of himself under investigation is how he feels about Fuuma. It’s not just how he behaves around Fuuma, it’s explicitly an exploration of his feelings, on top of the fact it’s explicitly an exploration about whether or not he likes Fuuma r o m a n t i c a l l y. Literally the conflict is spurred on by someone outright asking “Do you like him?” and having to clarify “I mean romantically.” What they decided to focus on for Kazuki’s character and emphasize and establish is that Kazuki’s like towards Fuuma toes the line between friendship and romance. His ambiguous feelings towards Fuuma (if we leave them inconclusive as Suki did) are just like Fuuma’s crossdressing and Kippei’s insecurity in the sense the weight of whatever those feelings may be are seen in how he interacts with the world around him and influences his behaviors. It would be another story if they introduced the potential and shut it down all within the extra, because then his central conflict would to me be less directly open to romantic potential and more simply about how his arc was meant to explore the dynamic of the behavior of an extremely dedicated best friend. The fact that he may be romantically attracted to Fuuma or may be only platonically dedicated to Fuuma is instead something that looms over Kazuki in the same way Fuuma’s decision to crossdress constantly looms over him. It’s what Dolce wanted to point to and say this is Kazuki’s central character conflict and central arc: exploring what type of feelings he has towards Fuuma.
Sure, it can be argued that there’s only three Dolce Diary character extras, there’s not enough to be sure about that being the purpose of the extras unless we get the other two’s extras. First, at this point I honestly don’t know if or when they’re going to release an extra revolving around Sara and Girisha just because not only has it been over a year and a half since the latest Dolce Diary Character Extra (Kazuki’s) was released despite the gap between the first and latest Dolce Diary Character Extra (Fuuma’s and Kazuki’s) were within a year of release but also because the Dolce 4komas and comics they’ve been posting to Twitter have decreased (last one being over half a year ago) potentially due to them deciding to focus on releasing Dolce manga content through the purchasable volumes instead. (This is not particularly related to the Kazufuuma argument, just wanted to put out there my two cents on what Sara and Girisha’s extra/focal arc would be. Based on a large part of the Dolce Diary in conjuncture with Can’t an Idol Fall in Love, I’d argue Sara’s would be his journey to regain his passion for performing, and if it’s not that I’d say it’d be coming out of his self-imposed isolation and opening up to people again. As for Girisha, I have less of a concrete idea but I’m assuming it’d be something pertaining to how people often misconceive him whether it be in tandem with his determination, his optimism and sociability, or his stupidity/ability to ignore those misconceptions and work past them. But Girisha is treated like the comedic relief 90% of the time so I’m not entirely sure, but his primary conflict is definitely rooted in misconceptions of him being his roadblock imo. #MoreGirishaContentPlz) That being said, I personally feel like the three are already enough evidence, especially considering it would be honestly even more cruel for Kazuki’s character-centric extra to be focusing on something that wasn’t essential to his character and character arc, anyway. And though it’s not explicitly stated that these chapters are extras exploring a central character, you can kind of tell based on how they are (to my knowledge) the only Dolce Diary updates with cover/title cards each which include their focal character front and center. So working off that fact, the Kazuki-centric chapter established that a pillar to his narrative was his feelings towards Fuuma and that those feelings are still open to romantic potential.
But if you follow me, this is why up until Can’t an Idol Fall in Love With Another Idol’s release, I was terrified of them writing that off. I would have been ok if it was just an arc that was given attention then continued to actively work in the background, as all the character arcs have been over all of Dolce’s content. The fact that they might be giving Fuuma a love interest and giving Fuuma a love arc while Kazuki’s feelings were still up in the air and were still the primary highlighted narrative for him would have been fucking scuffed. To me, it would be like… why would they make him so Fuuma-centric to the point that even his dedicated chapter was not just focused on Fuuma but focused on the ambiguity and potential of him having romantic feelings for Fuuma, yet reduce him to being Fuuma's designated right-hand man. Don’t get me wrong, friendships are just as important as romantic relationships. But again, rather than conclude Kazuki’s answer in Suki to be that his feelings were of friendship, they left it open ended and allow audience members to be actively aware that Kazuki’s feelings towards Fuuma still had potential to be romantically coded. It would just be so weird to quickly close off that narrative by giving Fuuma a love interest as opposed to letting Kazuki conclude it himself. It would be fucking beyond frustrating for me, at least Eventually, I kept trying to drive my hopes that they would explore Kazuki’s narrative at all down to the ground because it was a Fuuma-centric novel; maybe if anything they’d explore those feelings in his own novel after the fact. But then they kept having little drops here and there of Kazuki being even the slightest bit relevant and I’d go back to questioning “Are??? They??? Is this on purpose??? Do they know what they’re doing or are they just doing this because Kazuki’s just so important to Fuuma as his best friend that he’s there as his right-hand I genuinely can’t tell???” And um. Welp.
Safe to say Can’t An Idol Fall in Love sold me on the fact that they know what they’re doing LOL. And to anyone who thinks that Kazuki’s feelings can still be read as ambiguous in CAIFILWAI as opposed to explicitly romantic - whether it be due to a fear they may pull the “I like him as a friend” card or due to the disbelief that they have an explicit mlm main character in the Honeyworks series - I’d like to cover any bases that may make you think this way. If you think it’s just Kazuki acting like a protective friend, why do you think he calls Yui a rival? If you’ve only seen the MV and think it’s ambiguous or can be taken as the "likfe" for friend, then does that mean you think Yui’s feelings toward Fuuma are also ambiguous or as a friend? With the way Yui responds, she is trying to rival Kazuki’s feelings towards Fuuma. She and Kazuki recognize whatever feeling it is that they hold towards Fuuma, both of their feelings are the same type. I don’t think most people would argue that Yui’s confession about Fuuma was one of pure respect and friendship. Plus, if anything I’d argue of the three characters in the MV, Fuuma is the one whose feelings are left the most ambiguous despite him being the central character. It’s heavily implied that he may be forming feelings for Yui, but nowhere is it established either in the song or in the MV, especially if you compare it to Kazuki and Yui’s declarations or if you compare it to Sara’s feelings for Uru in Can’t An Idol Fall in Love. Fuuma’s romantic narrative here is trying to figure out how he feels for Yui, while for Kazuki and Yui they’ve established a rivalry because they both have mutually established they like Fuuma romantically.
If the MV isn’t enough for you and Suki isn’t enough for you for...some reason…??? You can check out the snippets of the light novel which the wonderful takanenene translated: one which revisits the conflict set up in Suki and one that covers the confession scene in the MV in more detail. If the fact that the conflict set up in Suki (aka the lurking feeling of not knowing if all he felt for Fuuma was only platonic or more than platonic) was specifically reestablished in the LN for anyone who didn’t keep up with Dolce Diary didn’t tip you off that it was something important, his behavior in the confession scene as depicted by the LN definitely should have. He’s possessive about his spot by Fuuma’s side. He doesn’t want that spot to be taken by anyone else. Even if he knows that they can help Fuuma, he wants it to be him. And this line: “Kazuki then trails off his words, quietly saying ‘That’s why…’ and then gave Yui a slightly painful smile, his cheeks turning red,” before he declares Yui a rival and states he likes Fuuma. If you can tell me you read that line and are still on the fence about Kazuki’s “like” towards Fuuma being romantic, please message me and I will see how I can get through to you. Like it wasn’t even just a romantically coded confession. It’s just a romantic confession. That “like” is romantic. And I’m so proud that he’s not only come to understand for himself how he feels, but that he’s confident enough to ask the person he sees as a romantic rival to speak in private and not only clarify her feelings for Fuuma but before she can even do that firmly establishes that he loves Fuuma with conviction. Kazuki my boy I’m so proud of you. *sniffs*
And that’s it for establishing Kazufuuma as at least canonically one-sidedly canon and why there’s not only no reason to deny it but also why denying it is a fucking disrespectful move towards Kazuki. He’s a character, sure, but that doesn’t change the fact you shouldn’t write off his struggle to come to be convicted enough to say it out loud. This has been something weighing on him at least a year, if not more (all I know is it started when both he and Fuuma were in some year in middle school). And as a character in a piece of media, I’ve been saying this the entire time, but brushing it off as non-romantic is literally chucking a fucking pillar of his character’s story into the gutter. And to those who may be saying Kazuki’s confession came out of nowhere and is pandering reread this entire fucking essay again I dare you to do it and tell me to my face it’s pandering. Again. Writing off the buildup as pandering is disrespectful to him, disrespectful to his character and narrative, and disrespectful to the wonderful people who have been creating Dolce so diligently and have crafted this narrative for us. Saying his “supposed feelings” and “ambiguous confession” is pandering is like saying Fuuma’s crossdressing is pandering which. If you say either of those I will find you and I will shank you in the fucking gut. Even if you’re not fully into Dolce, recognize these characters are actually very well developed and executed amazingly, as per every Honeyworks character that has come to exist. I don’t blame you if you weren’t aware of the weight of Kazufuuma, but now that you read this I hope you are. That’s mainly what I needed to get out there, but as follows will be me more exploring how Kazufuuma has been built up and generally waving my hand off at where it may be going. If you want you can dip, thanks for reading up to here because I know I repeated a lot because it’s just. So important to drill into your head and has been something I’ve been hung up about constantly. LOL
As for where exactly they’re taking it from this point on, I honestly don’t know. In all honesty, I didn’t even expect them to take it the direction they did. But honestly, I think the direction they went with it is really interesting and better than I could have imagined, in my opinion at least. Honeyworks never ceases to amaze me with their storytelling and narrative choices, and I don’t think there’s any that stand out to me as being severely questionable that they haven’t reapproached at some point down the line. And, again, I think they’re treating this with a lot of care and deserved respect. So I’m just gonna be gushing about how smart they set it up and how smart they’ve been executing it and maybe my own hopes on the direction it could go.
Whether they make Kazufuuma reciprocated I have no real clue or bearings, but to me my gut reaction is they will. Of course, I’m biased, but again if you trace things all the way back to 2018 and step through Dolce’s content and growth from there, I’d say even if they didn’t know if they could execute it like this and see it to fruition, I’d argue that Kazufuuma has been at least heavily implied since the beginning as a relationship they wanted to explore from both sides of the relationship. Obviously I brought up Kazuki’s character bio already, but if you look at the *goes to count* 5th Dolce Diary update already has a joke jabbing at the fact that Kazuki is technically Fuuma’s type (and the way Kippei and Kazuki excitedly react is so cute). The fifth update. And as stated before there are tons of Kazufuuma moments in Dolce Diary, whether it’s played for comedic effect or played straight (and this is post Suki but oh my god I’ve said it before I’ll say it again get yourself someone who looks at you the way Kazuki looks at Fuuma oh my jesus). But song-wise, I mentioned the one Dolce album song I would bring up is Nade Nade and this is where it comes!
Not only is Nade Nade specifically focused on Kazuki and Fuuma’s relationship as opposed to the whole of Dolce despite being the first song, it included the setup/preview of the Fuuma-centric extra prior to the full release of the Fuuma-centric extra itself and was released early as fuck. Literally between the 6th and 7th update to Dolce Diary. Sure, it could be to isolate them as a duo for marketing purposes (they’re very often the two promoted idols together if the whole of the group aren’t included), but the way it’s established as a perspective song as opposed to a general idol duet is what fascinates me. Anyone who didn’t know about Dolce prior and only followed Honeyworks for music would be first introduced to these characters through this song alone, and maybe this is where my Kazufuuma bias comes from but I was one of those people LOL. I thought it was just a cute one-off relationship that they had set up for the purpose of a song and that it was an implied friends-to-lovers story that would never get a conclusion. Also I mistakenly thought Fuuma was a girl oop-. In the full context of Dolce, this song in part helped establish Fuuma and Kazuki more solidly as a unique duo out of all of Dolce, but it also specifically explored through Fuuma’s eyes just how much Fuuma recognizes and appreciates the unwavering support Kazuki gives him to follow his dreams as he wishes. For Fuuma, he loves Kazuki too, though whether it holds any romantic potential in the same way Kazuki loves him has never been explored to nearly the same extent. But Fuuma appreciates how Kazuki’s remained by his side and does everything he can to support him, so Nade Nade explores how his way of expressing his love and thankfulness to Kazuki is by never saying that he needs Kazuki by his side. He’s glad Kazuki’s always been there for him, and his reciprocation takes on the form of being ready to unwaveringly support Kazuki and not ask for more than he already has, even if it meant Kazuki would be leaving his side, despite the fact that he really does wish they could remain together forever just as Kazuki does. The one point he lets himself say something vaguely close to always wanting to stay together, he gets a surprised expression out of Kazuki and says an ambiguous “suki dayo.” Of course, this it much less romantically coded than what we get from Kazuki in Suki and CAIFILWAI, but there is an interesting emphasis put on it nonetheless. Keep in mind, this is all established through the song, which released long before not only Fuuma’s character-centric extra released but also Kazuki’s character-centric extra released, so there is at least a substantial setup for Fuuma’s feelings towards Kazuki’s being strong as well and possibly grow to be reciprocated one day.
I think for me the most fascinating part about Nade Nade is how they tied it back around to Can’t An Idol Fall In Love with Another Idol. Again, without remembering Nade Nade, I still thought CAIFILWAI was brilliantly explored and executed, even if some people would have preferred no love triangle. But honestly, revisiting Nade Nade makes me trust even more the direction they’re taking with this. Whether or not they make Kazufuuma canon mutually (which. Even if they for some inexplicable reason didn’t I’m going down with this ship.), I’m sure they’re putting a lot of thought into the story, because the last bit of Nade Nade directly parallels the misunderstanding that arose from Fuuma mishearing the Kazuki and Yui. Fuuma is resolved to support Kazuki in any area he’s given the chance, and that explicitly includes if Kazuki had some girl he liked, which is what he assumes is going on. The fact that they tied this back around in the form of a misunderstanding was really really smart and Honeyworks is always so good at parallels and references back to their older songs, but for some reason I didn’t expect this. I don’t know how to say why, but the fact that the song that started it all, kicked off both Dolce and Kazufuuma, was directly referenced both visually in the MV with a cameo at the start and narratively despite the central dynamic being predominantly explored in this story in particular was that of Fuuma and another potential love interest and involves said potential love interest for some reason makes me think that (sorry Yui) this is all planned out for Kazufuuma in the grand scheme of things. That being said, I don’t know if me thinking it was planned all along is just me with shipper goggles, but the idea it’s come full circle nearly 3 years later is not shipper goggles and a very very well done parallel in my opinion, whether this trajectory was their plan for Kazufuuma from the beginning or not. Just wanted to gush about that some more.
There’s more I could go into especially if I went into specific details about interactions or specific implications established in Honeyworks' Dolce content about different characters that would be fascinating to explore in relation to and under the lens of Kazufuuma, but I think this is uh...plenty long enough. Plus, I doubt you'll stop seeing Kazufuuma posts from me so those ideas will probably just be miniposts or somethin.
Back to the overarching point of this segment, idk what they’ll do with this story in the end, but do I think Kazufuuma will canon? I’m used to looking at ships that aren’t explicitly apparent with a sliver of skepticism, but all things considered (as I stated before) yeah. I don’t see reason why they wouldn’t now that they’ve explicitly identified there is a romantic dimension to it ¯\_(ツ)_/¯ Like to me, the setup isn’t something that would be written off as unrequited? And this doesn’t have to play into why I don’t think it will canon, my personal opinion on the Fuuyui relationship (again albeit through the lens of a hard Kazufuuma shipper lmao) has it’s own merits and is really cute, I find it cute in the way I found Koyuhina cute. I personally never really shipped Koyuhina, and especially since they slipped Kotarou into Ima Suki Ni Naru I was more curious about who this kid was and how he played into things I didn’t really see Koyuhina as something that would come to fruition. Similarly, there’s more importance in the overall sense on Kazuki than there is Yui (considering he’s one of the 5 original and focal members of this generation of idols, this would be natural), as well as the fact there’s just way more foundation and exploration in Fuuma and Kazuki’s relationship than there is Fuuma and Yui. As for how much of a balance there is inside the LN itself, the fact that they seem to have spent a substantial amount relaying the foundation of Fuuma and Kazuki’s relationship and re-exploring it (at least in Kazuki’s perspective) at all on top of how much content there is covering their relationship prior to the LN ever since Dolce’s origin just feels like that relationship holds more weight. Pretty much Kazufuuma feels more established as a priority in general. The way I personally hope Fuuyui plays out is whether they wind up holding mutual feelings or not or whether Fuuma doesn’t feel that way towards Yui is they get a relationship akin to Kotarou and Arisa. Albeit, Kotarou and Arisa never viewed each other in a romantic light, but they had mutual respect and solidarity. That’s the type of friendship I hope comes out of Fuyui. And considering there hasn’t been a break-up in any Honeyworks’ canon relationships (nor do I expect there to be… they’re all perfect for each other LMAO) it would actually be interesting if Fuuyui get together but don’t endgame and Kazufuuma is established as the inseparable endgame after some realization or another, though I don’t expect them to go that route nor do I know if that’d be the best way to go about it anyway. Also final point, Honeyworks seems to have a thing for childhood friends trope anyway soooooo owo All in all, don’t know where they’re taking it, just excited to see where it goes.
TL;DR of this *counts* 7 page essay, stan Kazufuuma. Not gonna proof this. Maybe I’ll edit and repost but yall are getting a confusing clusterfuck of ramblings over 2-3 hr periods of me writing across 3 different days at around 5am each day. Uh. If you got this far like and subscribe and-- jk plz reply to this mammoth anywhere you see fit or tell me if you have stuffs to add or counter or whatnot I like hearing people talk about Kazufuuma ;w; I am Kazuki and Kazufuuma brainrot can you tell after reading this? No? Lemme just remind you I’m K--

Hello I wanted to ask you about how would you feel Hawks would be in a relationship and how he acts in general in your opinion. I heard things about people making a fan non Hawks more than the canon. So I wanted your opinion since I made a Oc to ship with him and also want to see your take on how he would act in a relationship itself and what to expect. I really want to do my best to stick to the original thing so if I could have some pointers that really would help. Also keep up your work!
Hello! and thank you for your message! Firstly, if you really really want to stick to canon Hawks, forget everything you know about him right now and take time to read the manga, if you haven’t already. If you’re mostly familiar with him just from things other fans have created, you’re missing a lot of context. There’s nothing like getting to experience him as his creator intended him to be experienced!
Everything I believe about how Hawks would handle romantic relationships are assumptions I’ve made from what I know about him, based on canon material. At the end of the day, there is no “canon” way he would deal with such a relationship, as his role in the manga is to help further the plot of a war arc and we never get those kind of glimpses into his life. You certainly can make him feel more authentically himself by familiarizing yourself with him in the manga, however!
Generally speaking, my fanfic Nighthawk is my best assumption of how he would handle a romantic relationship. Considering his complicated lack of close bonds in his history, and the dangerous life he lives, he would likely keep a lover a well guarded secret, in my opinion. If anyone managed to get that close to him, it would likely be especially special to him, considering he has no canon family ties as of now. His worst nightmare would be the media, or even worse- a villain- were to catch wind and uproot your life. An SO that close would be family to him, which is worth protecting.
He would probably have difficulty opening up, so his SO would have to be low maintenance and patient with him, as he has more baggage than he’s willing to admit. He seems to feel like he always must be the hero- the strong one that others can rely on, and I think he neglects himself sometimes as a result. Emotionally, at least.
Also, imo, don’t use his real name “Keigo Takami” lightly when making material about him that you want to feel canon. It’s a name he forfeited in his childhood, and considering it’s ties to his serial killer father, he likely wouldn’t want the person he loves the most to refer to him using it. He would likely prefer simply “Hawks”, as it’s a name he’s forged for himself. I could see him hiding his real name even from his SO. Not because he doesn’t trust them with it, but because he would likely be afraid their image of him would be tainted if they found out who he came from- even if that isn’t true!
Idk I could go on forever ! haha! Generally speaking, do lots of research using canon as a source. Look through meta that heavily source the manga, so you know the author is well versed. you can read some of my favorite meta about him in my reference tag!
This isn’t really an extensive essay about his character, but I hope these little bits are good starting points for you! At the end of the day, Hawks is a comfort character for many people, and as long as you enjoy him and what you create about him, you’re doing it right.

I just wanted to post this as well as put this in my rules too for any new or future followers!
1. I have not finished P5, I am stuck on Okamuras Palace so far after Haru got her persona. I have not played Royal or Strikers yet! I am, however, very aware of Persona 3 and 4 story so I don't mind spoilers from them.
2. I know all that goes on in Kingdom Hearts except KH3 and Melody of Memory. I have both games just haven't gotten to finish yet. I am currently stuck on The Carribean world in KH3. As for KH Chi, I know like bits and pieces but really watched the movie attachment to like 2.8.
3. I've just stopped watching Seven Deadly Sins up to halfway of season 3. It just kind of lost my interest at that point. I also have not read the Manga nor do I plan to anytime soon.
4. I have read the entire Demon Slayer manga so I am aware of spoilers for that. I WILL tag my post of them just in case because I do have friends who have not reached the newest season nor read it yet.
5. I have finished all of She-Ra so there will be spoilers on here too. Though I highly suggest you give it a watch, it's good.
6. I know all of Danganronpa game wise, however I am going to finish watching DR3 anime considering I have found a site that has it and I'm pretty late to watch it.
7. I've only watched all of Noragami anime, I have not caught up or got to read the Manga yet. As for Madoka Magica I am only aware of the anime and not Magica Record.
8. The way I write Vanille, I choose to mostly focused on FFXIII, I haven't gotten further to play XIII-2 or Lightning Returns.
9. I am nearly done catching up with MHA, currently on season 4! So I'll be careful of spoilers around until then.
10. When I write Rika, there will be mentions of ab*se, violence, blood/g*re and possible other disturbances due to the dark themes of Higurashi. I won't write in threads with those in mind if you reach out to me and request to not include any or all of that.

Anime/Manga: Kimetsu no Yaiba Pairing: Genya/fem!Reader Additional characters: mentions of Sanemi and the rest of the Shinazugawa family Warning: Is Genya being adorably shy and flustered considered as one? Additional tags: Modern day AU, adult!Genya and Reader (you’re both 20-somethings *wink* *wonk*) A/N: No beta as always. Also – wow, this took too damn long hahaha pls don’t hurt me –
Summary:
After months of being into the relationship you think you could only experience in your dreams, your silly, adorably shy boyfriend finally asks for a kiss.
i. linger
Tumblr media
“can i please have her?”
- crawl (alt. my heroine)/angels and airwaves
“You have to move it like this, see?” Genya says as he separates locks of your hair into three portions, nimble fingers quick and precise as he weaves your hair into a pattern. “Over and under, then this one goes here. The rest is just a repeat. Over and under, you slip this one here, over and under…”
He makes the mistake of looking at you where you sit close to him and sees the look of gentle adoration on your face. The familiar sensation of heat creeping up his cheeks makes itself known as Genya fumbles, messing up with braiding your hair. You chuckle at the adorable display and cups his face with your hands, carefully tilting his head up to meet your gaze when he looks away.
The two of you have been dating for several months now and yet your giant of a boyfriend still maintained the endearing shyness he displays towards women, more so to you. Anything you deem cute is one of your many weaknesses, and your poor heart has been blessed with such a loveable man who goes by the name of Shinazugawa Genya.
All those times serenading him with a single song whenever he passed you by months ago has definitely paid off, your huge crush for him being granted a step forward when he (finally) asked for your name and number. You never consider yourself to be a bold type of woman, but the very first time you’ve laid your eyes on Genya, your heart and mind seem to make a consensus and set themselves into grabbing his attention by doing what you’re terribly good at.
And so you sang to him, silently pleading to any higher power who might listen for Genya to make the first move (as if you haven’t done it already, always singing the same song to him whenever you spot his adorable mohawk in the crowd and attempting to charm him with your winning smiles). You know you’re diving head first into your attempts at getting his attention, but who are you to blame? You’ve never had a proper crush before him, and you’re the hopeless romantic type who wants for her very first boyfriend to also be her last.
God, you’re so cheesy. And you have a strong feeling that you’ve gotten worse when Genya finally asks you to be his girl.
Genya’s girl. Damn, that sounds so nice. And you’re damn well sure that you won’t be choosing anyone else. You’ve never been more certain that it’s him you’ll only want in your life every single day.
You grin, knowing that you’re sporting a blush on your face much like his.
“Genya. You’re teaching me how to braid my hair. Don’t stop now,” you tease him, inching your face closer to his and rubbing your noses together in an eskimo kiss. The action seems to deepen the blush on your boyfriend’s face, the lovely colour creeping up his ears and neck.
He ducks his head, closes whatever distance is left between the two of you (practically none), and buries his face in the crook of your neck while he wraps his arms around your waist and you know that he is steadying himself. It’s taken you a solid two months before he can even initiate physical affection and instead of getting annoyed, you love him all the more for it. So shy and respectful. Damn this man and his natural shyness. You’re positive that he will be the death of you, but it is a death you’d gladly embrace.
“Then s-stop being so cute,” he whines against your skin, and you can practically feel his bashfulness as he hesitantly places a soft kiss on your pulse point.
Alright, point taken. He really is going to be the death of you. For someone who only limits himself to kissing your cheeks or your hands, Genya moving up to your neck was a rather bold move for you. You’d be a hypocrite if you deny how much you like it, though, as butterflies not just danced but partied in your stomach.
Thoughts of teasing him flee you when Genya’s lips move further up your lower jaw, your eyes widening in surprise while your heart practically pounds against your ribcage. He slowly pulls away, a hint of a smile making the corners of his lips twitch minutely at the sight of your flustered face.
“Alright, I take that back,” he tells you as he stands up, leaving you seated on the couch by yourself. He places a hand to your head to gently pat your hair as you look up at him, confused and still blushing.
Emotions still reeling pleasantly from your boyfriend’s boldness, you tilt your head to the side and stutter a bewildered, “W-What…?”
“Ah…” Genya lifts a hand to gingerly scratch at his cheek with a finger, diverting his gaze from you as the small smile on his face blows up into a huge but still shy grin. “Stay cute, [Name]. Nah, scratch that. You’re always cute, even now.”
With that, Genya makes a hasty retreat to your flat’s kitchen, his muffled and adorably meek chuckles at the stunned look you’ve given him making you fall even harder in love for him.
______
Your silly boyfriend has been acting weird these past few days, and you have to be honest to yourself and admit that it worries you.
If you remember it correctly, Genya’s strange behaviour began when he has spent one afternoon with Mitsuri-san and her husband, Obanai-san. One of Genya’s younger sisters – Sumi, you think – is a fan of the city’s resident herpetologist, and the second eldest Shinazugawa child have told you of his planned trip to the Iguro household to get some advice on what small reptile should Sumi take care of first.
When he comes back home to your shared flat, you immediately notice how Genya shyly looks away when he spots you picking irritably at your suddenly chapped lips (damn the winter season for creeping real close). He usually stops and gently chides you for doing so and would then offer you one of your numerous flavoured chapsticks to soothe your lips.
He hears you let out a light yelp when you picked at the skin a little too hard, a small drop of blood welling where it cracked. You remember how Genya’s face contorts with worry, one of his hands immediately cupping your cheek and softly dabbing the blood off with his thumb.
You remember how he stares too hard at your lips, his eyes glazing with an emotion you can’t read, and how he seem to snap out of his daze and hide his suddenly flushed face from you.
This strange obsession of staring at your lips whenever he thinks you’re not looking persists for days, and days have turned to weeks until you pull yourself out of your own obliviousness. Of course, it can only mean one thing.
Genya, your silly boyfriend, wants to finally kiss you!
Maybe he’s witnessed how Mitsuri-san and Obanai-san interact as a married couple during his visit. After all, Mitsuri-san doesn’t hold back with showering her beloved husband her undivided affection. Maybe… Maybe Genya is an unsuspecting witness of kisses shared between the two?
You can only imagine how embarrassed Genya must’ve felt at that moment, and yet…
You’d be full-blown lying to yourself if you deny that you have been thinking about kissing him, too. But you know how shy, reserved, and easily flustered your poor darling is and you find yourself curbing your desire to just pull him down to your level and give him a quick smooch. You have spent quite a lot of time imagining how soft his lips must be against yours, and how he’d kiss you – will Genya lightly press his lips to yours, or will he be peppering your lips with butterfly kisses? Perhaps he’s particular with languorous kisses, his lips sometimes finding their way to your cheeks, forehead, lower jaw, and the tip of your nose? Or maybe he’ll turn out to be the type who’d softly nibble on your lower lip with those pearly whites and cute canines?
You are quick to rule out French kisses in your list. You’re quite sure that asking Genya for one would lead to his untimely death.
(You’re always so sweet, mindful, and respectful of his bashfulness – you have no idea how much Genya adores you for your patience with him.)
And so you wait for him to make his move, knowing that your patience will be rewarded sooner than later.
______
It’s raining tonight, and Genya comes home to find you snoozing on the couch, his favourite purple, cable knit jumper practically swallowing your petite frame.
He makes his way around your shared flat, mindful of making any noise that might wake you up. He changes into something comfortable, phones Sanemi and their mom to ask how their day have been, and quietly walks back to the couch to sit beside you.
Genya watches you sleep, his heart beating a mile a minute as he admires how softer your features seem in your sleep. Gently, he removes the distance between the two of you and scoops you in his arms, carefully repositions you on his lap, and lets your head rest on his shoulder.
A soft smile appears on Genya’s face as his gaze remains firmly fixed on your face. He can feel the gentle rise and fall of your chest, as well as your solid, comforting weight against him. He towers over you and yet it never escapes him how your soft curves slot perfectly in the hard and muscled planes of his body.
His gaze find its way back to your face, and Genya doesn’t mind the red painting his cheeks because you cannot tease him in your slumber. Gently tilting your head up, he places a soft kiss on your forehead, then to your eyelids and the tip of your nose. He stops, however, when you shift a little then slowly open your eyes.
“Hi,” he greets you voice soft and face red. He melts a little inside when you smile sleepily up at him, clutching his shirt with one hand and burying your nose on his chest to breathe in his scent. You have always been open to him with things like this, telling him that his scent always calms you and eases your worries.
“Hi, love,” you greet him back. You pull yourself away a little and shoots him a coy grin. “I thought I fell asleep on the couch…”
Genya catches the teasing tone in your soft tone drowsed by the remnants of sleep, sending him into yet another blushing fit while he played along.
“You look comfortable, but not enough, see,” he tells you with an endearingly meek chuckle.
“Mm… you’re right,” you mumble, snuggling back on his broad chest. “This is much comfier.”
You feel your boyfriend’s lips on the top of your head, his contented hum rumbling in his chest and into your frame pressed against him. You spend the next minutes in restful silence, one of Genya’s big hands rubbing circles on your back in a soothing manner while his other arm is draped casually over your thighs. His presence and gentle touches are more than enough to send you back to your peaceful slumber, but it seems that your boyfriend has something else on his mind.
               “[Name]?”
Fighting off sleep is an easy task when you hear hesitation in his voice. You tilt your head up to look at Genya and sees that his gaze is anywhere but yours. His face is redder than usual, too, coming up to the tips of his ears then travelling down to his neck and even further below his shirt’s collar.
               “Gen…?”
The hand on your thighs travelled to the hem of his sweater you are currently clad in, fiddling nervously on the soft fabric while he musters the courage to look directly at your face. His smile is pinched with worry, so you place a hand on top of his busy one in an attempt to calm him down.
“We, uh… w-we’ve been a couple for months now…” he begins, face so red you would mistake him for a mohawked tomato. You can practically feel the heat of his embarrassment, see how his eyes dart from your [colour] orbs down to your lips and you are given the whole gist of what topic he’s trying to broach – something you have also been thinking a lot about yourself. You let him finish talking, however. No use in getting him more nervous than he already is, don’t you think?
You hum your acknowledgement, smiling encouragingly up at him while putting on an inquisitive front that screams what are you trying to tell me?
Genya swallows down his anxiousness, reciprocating your smile with a pleading, shy one.
“I just… I want to…” He averts his gaze for a few seconds before it’s back at you with a full-blown focus. Genya moves his hand from the hem of his sweater up to hold your hip, his eyes shining with bashful determination.
               “May I kiss you?”
The question comes surprisingly smoothly past his lips and it is your face’s turn to explode into a blushing mess. You grin up at him with sudden self-consciousness, biting your lower lip and letting a small giggle burst out of you. What an endearingly shy gentleman your boyfriend is. Who do you thank again for being blessed with such a fine lover as he is?
“You really shouldn’t ask, Genya,” you tell him, trying not to sound too excited at the prospect of finally unlocking this achievement of knowing how his lips would feel against yours – and out of his own volition. “Although… now I’m even more in love with you for doing so.”
You laugh when he closes his eyes in profound embarrassment, hand squeezing your hip in a bid to chip away at your amusement.
“W-Why do you say cheesy stuff like that, [Name]?” he groans with half-hearted heat, ducking his head to bury his nose in your hair. You stifle your laughter and gently pry his face off of your hair.
“Do you want me to say cheesy stuff to someone else, then?” you tease him. Heavens, Genya will indeed be the death of you – he’s just too cute!
“No!” He sounds so alarmed – you can’t take too much cuteness from him in just a single day. “Don’t try it, or else I’ll…”
“You’ll what?” you playfully taunt him. “Kiss me? ‘Cause as far as I’m concerned, Genya, your lips haven’t even touched mine yet!”
“You’re killing me. You’re killing me and you’re having the time of your life while doing it.”
“And you’re killing me, too, making your girlfriend wait and all that…”
Genya presses his forehead to yours, the tips of your noses touching. “I’m mentally prepping myself,” he tells you in a slightly serious tone. “I’ve been thinking of kissing you – wanting to kiss you – for weeks now, and–“
“Then do it,” you tell him. “And I’m telling you, you need not ask.”
Your words of affirmation seem to do the trick. Emboldened by your words, Genya crosses whatever distance is left between your lips and kisses you.
It’s a simple peck, really, and he pulls away as fast as he presses down – but you’re torn between saying that it’s enough and it isn’t. You’ve only been given a second to enjoy the surprising softness of his lips but you don’t want to tell him that you’re disappointed–
Genya surprises you by diving back down, pressing his lips against yours and actually lingering for more than a few seconds before pulling away and giving you butterfly kisses. You are quick to reciprocate, chasing after his lips when he pulls away, your hands moving up to tangle your fingers through his hair. You let out a soft noise of astonishment when you feel his tongue dart out to swipe shyly at your lower lip, causing Genya to pull his burning face away with a worried look.
“I’m sorry! I didn’t know what came over me! Did… D-Did I overstep…?” he asks you hesitantly, but you can clearly see on his face that he doesn’t want to stop kissing you yet.
Smiling brightly, you shake your head no and pull his face down to your level. “Of course, you didn’t. I was just surprised, that’s all.”
The fretful look on his face dissolves into relief. “Oh. Oh, good.” And with that, he’s back to shyly blessing your lips with butterfly kisses in between his words. “You know, I’m kicking myself everyday about this… and… now I’m wondering why I…” he presses a little too long, enough to leave the two of you breathless. “…waited this long. I could…” another kiss. “…do this every day. Just… kiss you to prove how I fall in love with you every… single… day we spend together…”
He pulls himself away, but just enough so he can stare at you oh so lovingly, you can feel yourself turn to putty in his soft kisses and beautiful smiles. Genya ducks his head to meet you halfway, your eyes automatically falling shut as sparks fly once more when your lips connect with his. It’s just pure magic, this moment you’re sharing with him, and if this is what drowning in love feels like then you would gladly sink deeper into his arms and lips and smiles and love and just drown in him–
The two of you smile at each other through your kisses, unafraid of this moment coming to an end. With both of you being hell-bent into choosing each other, then you can always recreate the feelings you are sharing with this first kiss.
“But seriously,” Genya wonders in mock innocence, looking as if he is trying to get back at you for teasing him. “Why did I wait so long to kiss you? Maybe–“
“Oh, I wonder why, too,” you cut him off innocently – far too innocuous for your boyfriend’s liking. “And here I was, thinking that you’re preparing for a French kiss or something.”
Genya tilts his head to the side in confusion. “French… kiss?”
You grin up at him, wriggling your eyebrows suggestively. “You know… a really deep kiss, with tongues involved… and maybe a lot of touching.”
Genya remains unresponsive for the rest of the night, face pale and constantly muttering “oh, gods, I can kiss you like that?” even as the two of you are telling each other good night. You can only hope that you haven’t brought your poor boyfriend to a near catatonic state with that smartass quip of yours.
