If you're still looking for Empires prompts (I adore your seablings, btw) can we maybe get some pensive Copper King, maybe looking out over the dunes, with a dramatic sky of some kind... I dunno man, I just miss the Copper King and would love to see some art of him. <3
Keep making amazing art!
okay first of all thank you i appreciate this very much i lobe drawing the seablings sm <3
second of all a thing that's very funny to me is that the first two requests i got in my askbox (this included) were both specifically abt empires season 1 pixlriffs hsksksks
I'm guessing there's a drought of copper king content (actually no I'm lying bc i KNOW there's a drought since i spent so long desperately searching through the related tags to find some sort of inspo for a pixl design lol)
anyway here you go
Tumblr media
i did unfortunately forget any and all progress pictures so this is all i have sorryyy 😔😔😔
also the sky is ummmm, interesting to say the least, i got a bit too ambitious at the start and then for some reason the (highly expensive, mind you) watercolor paper i was using decided to act NOTHING at all like watercolor paper so yeh,,, dramatic-ness –100, flatness +50
i am weirdly pleased with the coloring of this tho,,, mainly bc I'm reminded of this old children's storybook i had when i was younger that had art that was similarly painted,,, i should go look for that book
ANYWAY !!! WORRY NOT DEAR ANON !!! i have, after all, gotten ANOTHER request for our dear copper king and i shall try again in hopes for some better results next time :DDD
here i tried taking a normal photo too, i think the addition of my yellow desk lamp light, weirdly enough, adds plenty of vibes to it
Tumblr media
you can kinda see the parts where the paper has started shedding bc of the amount of water i used which is CRAAAAZY considering this was like a really nice brand of paper and quite heavy too !!! i am a tad miffed
a tooootally unrelated question tho: does anyone have any tips and tricks on painting the sky/clouds ????? asking for a friend lol

Mom says I can spend $4.00 on the book order. I really want The Dune Storybook that costs $3.95! But...if I buy 3 books I get a free Heathcliff poster. So I guess I'll buy 3 $1.25 books I'll never read instead. This was the major life decision made every month of every third grader in the 80's!

I stole this from another blog, but of the ROs that would look back, what's their reaction to seeing that their Eurydice was there the whole time?
MY TIME HAS COME! (on a personal note i watched dune and drank like a liter of glacier freeze gatorade while writing this on my phone, so apologies for all the incoherence. hans zimmer took my brain with his soundtrack and left behind Mush)
sola
She knows. She knows.
The moment she turns, you’re gone. She’d lost you once, and she pressed the words of never again, never again into your skin, an oath, a promise, a vow. Her word to keep you safe. Her word to love you to the end of the world and beyond.
You’re intertwined with her heartbeats, the breath within her chest. The savior, they called her. The saint. The one to bring them from the brink of perdition to salvation. The warrior who did not know fear in the face of death.
And it was true, she did not fear her demise. She feared losing you.
And now you’re gone.
Sola is inhuman in her rage.
aleksandr
It’s almost as if his eyes have fogged over. His vision is blurring, and the image of you, the you he would raze cities for, the you he would do anything for is vanishing before his eyes.
He won’t let you go. He can’t let you go.
"No." His voice is quiet. "Bring them back."
"You knew the rules."
"It wasn't a request."
malis
They're only three steps away.
There's an old wives tale that they once read while still in the Tower. A mage who had made a deal with Death himself to bring her wife back.
And in the end, not only had the mage failed, both of their souls were both scattered to the four winds. Gone, only to be immortalized within pages of a storybook as a warning. To keep a level head.
The memory comes unbidden to them, but Malis thinks they can understand the mage's feelings now. The desperation love brings is enough to topple nations, and bring the strongest of people to their knees.
Had they told you? Had they ever put aside their pride to tell you?
Three seconds too late, three steps too far.
nicai
It's instantaneous.
You're there, almost like he can reach out to bring you into his arms again. Nicai is already moving, reaching out to touch you.
Then you're gone. You fade away, ink being dropped into water, and he's drowning, suffocating in place. The grief overtakes him like a blow. He's alone, and he knows it's his fault.
He feels like the world has slowed down, the ground crumbling away beneath his feet and he's gone, gone, gone.
It's a long while before he speaks.
"Take me with them."

(please don’t reblog!)
I was looking through Dune the other day & I don’t know if it’s That Deep & the author really wanted every implication but like. when Piter is interacting with the Baron, he’s the painting of the jester taunting the dogs (they are that to each other but Piter is better at it). But when he’s interacting with lower ranking folks in the Harkonnen operation, he’s an awful lot more like, pick your favorite stock photo of smiling, collaborating coworkers in suits?? It’s the thought experiment about how an evil character surely isn’t guaranteed to be equally evil to everyone. It’s the objectively interesting question of why they choose their exceptions where they do (which doesn’t require thinking the fucked up things they do are ok, ofc).
When Feyd is sitting in on a strategy meeting, Piter goes out of his way to include 15 yr old Feyd, at one point asking a question he and the baron already know the answer to just so Feyd can hear the baron answer it. One of the things Piter and the baron get to arguing about is their different approaches to mentoring Feyd, with both of them actively invested in using the time to do that. Then, later, when Piter is arranging for Jessica and Paul to be dropped off in the desert to be eaten by sandworms (you know, normal political enemy stuff), the narrative clarifies that he turns to a deaf guard when he talks so the guard can lip read. And none of this is deeply generous or anything like that. When that deaf guard is later found dead, Piter treats it as business as usual, an expected outcome. He tells the baron that he’d enjoy watching the castle on Giedi Prime be overrun by imperial troops. He isn’t someone who looks out for underlings in a heartfelt way or actually cares about what happens to them.
The interesting thing to me here is like. It’s well established that Piter’s sitting on a lot of murder hobo energy, & it’s canon that uninstalling ethics was an intentional goal of his specific mentat training. Like all bets are off that a character like that would act ‘normal’ around *anyone.* The interesting thing to me is that when he, a deeply evil character, abuses his position of power to casually treat the people around him like shit, he punches up instead of down. He’s the opposite of the character who brown-noses the boss and hides all their crazy and then goes and bullies the janitor and tries to make them feel like a little bug.
He has, and uses, the emotional intelligence to make intricate and intentional categories like, ‘hmm 15 yr old boy, tailor the meeting like this and like this and like this’ or ‘hmm, deaf guard, remember to look at him while talking,’ etc. & keep things running as smoothly as possible. But when it comes to his evil boss, the face of the system that calls it business as usual to train and employ ‘twisted’ mentats, he’s like. “hey. hey. hey. one corn chip. i’d sell your soul to satan for one corn chip. you can’t even fire me. i’m smarter than you and i bet you’re sad about it. hey. loser. hey.”
When Piter tortured Yueh’s wife Wanna and used it to manipulate Yueh, that was exactly the start of the domino chain that caused Piter’s death. When the empire creates a ‘twisted’ mentat, the product gives the janitor a thumbs up and unloads all of his crazy on the highest ranking person in the room. Sometimes Dune has this storybook quality of consequences coming right back like a boomerang to the person who deserves them, rather than spreading out diffusely and hurting unrelated people, like can happen so often in real life.

For many travels now, I’ve shown you how diverse the Southwest can be. You’ve visited lava flows and sandstone bluffs, petroglyphs and ancient ruins, abandoned mines and meteor craters. You’ve seen that the desert is far more than sand dunes and prickly cacti as the storybooks would have us believe. In reality, the desert is incredible, varied, and vibrant.
Today, however, we visit that storybook desert.
This is the Sonoran Desert.

The Other Five Shelves
All the Novels on My Bookcase
I used to read, like, ten books a day (okay, not really, but I read a fxck ton). I would come home from the library with a tote bag full of chapter books that I’d read all the way through before that little due date came up. And I’d try almost anything, as long as it was fiction!
These days, I’m much pickier. And I certainly don’t have as much time as I once did.
There was a time I thought I’d have a huge library of my very own chapter books, as thick as they could be!
Tumblr media
I have four fxckin’ shelves of solid fiction that I will probably stick with ‘til the end of my days. The other is full of photo albums my grandmother made each year for me.
I dunno. As I got older, what I enjoyed in stories changed drastically. Not that it’s a bad thing, it just makes it harder for me to find stuff that I’ll actually like.
The genres I stick to the most are Science Fiction and Mystery. And the Classics have intrigued me, too! Everything else seems to have become repetitive or boring to me. But, hey, if there’s a really good book out there, don’t hesitate to recommend it to me! I will certainly give it a try.
Anyway, lemme show you each shelf.

Sorry that these shelves are not as organized as my manga ones, they come in all different shapes and sizes. I’m hoping to organize these soon.
Since these are the few novels I actually have, I’ve read most of them over and over. They have been properly loved! If you have any questions or remarks on any of these books, I will be happy to hear them! I’d love to talk about plots and characters with someone. Suggestions are more than welcome, as well!
I do have one more shelf left to show you guys, so I’ll post about it soon. For now, let’s get back to the manga part!

"The Moon, Sky, And Stars" - An Analogical fic
---------------------------------------------------
The night was cool and crisp as Virgil slipped outside, closing the door quietly behind him. The shadows wrapped around him like a cloak, warm and familiar. As soon as he was clear of the house and darting lightly across the dewey lawn, Virgil heaved a massive sigh of relief. He always felt safest here, away from the house and the pressure of being who fate predestined him to be. And this night was perfect. It was very late, so the sky had darkened to a deep inky black, but if you looked close enough for long enough, you could see the hints of deep blue. There were virtually no clouds, so the incandescent white and golden stars were shining for all the world to see. The air was clean and refreshing, and the grass was lush against Virgil’s bare feet as he ran towards the lake, the surface of which was smooth as a mirror.
Reaching the shore, Virgil plopped to the ground, stretching out and gazing upwards. As he did, he felt all of his earthly worries melt away, vanquished by the softly glowing stars and the comfort of this moment. As time gently slid by, Virgil became aware of the moon. Tonight was scheduled to be a full moon, so when the silvery orb graced Virgil’s eyesight, he nearly gasped. It was gorgeous, white and luminous. What Virgil wasn’t expecting to hear in that moment however, was Logan’s voice, puncturing the utter silence surrounding him. “Oh…. Virgil is that you?” Shooting upright, the anxious side turned around wildly to spot Logan approaching, carefully making his way down the embankment. “Yes it’s me. I can say I definitely expect to see you here. I didn’t think science geeks liked looking at the stars.”
“Well, I highly enjoy looking at the night sky. It is quite pretty and invokes so many deep thoughts about life. I often come here at this time. It is actually surprising that we haven’t run into each other before this.” Logan sat down next to Virgil, looking at him inquisitively. “Why do you come here?” He asked. “Well… I guess it’s just really comforting to come here and just relax. The sky is beautiful and… I come here almost every day if I can. It… helps me.” Virgil said all of this in a rush, not stopping to question why he was saying so many things he wouldn’t even consider speaking during the daytime. A fleeting look of surprise crossed Logan’s face, vanishing nearly as quickly as it had appeared. “I understand Virgil. It’s ok. I know you probably don’t want to talk, but may I stay and watch the stars with you?” Virgil looked at Logan with raw emotion, the anxious side not even bothering to hide it. Getting the feeling that words wouldn’t come even if he wanted them too, Virgil just nodded and turned back to the sky.
Logan stretched out beside Virgil, and before he knew it Virgil was unconsciously turning into Logan, allowing himself to be drawn into the protective arms of the logical side. Looking to Logan, the pair exchanged soft smiles and gazed back towards the sky. This moment had a magical quality, like it had been stolen from a myth or a child’s storybook. Everything was cast in silver, and illuminated in the gentle light of the moon and the stars.
Time became liquid, passing very slowly or perhaps extremely quickly. Neither could tell and neither particularly cared. All they wanted to do was treasure this moment to reflect back upon when the inescapable time came when this had to end.
All of a sudden however, Logan heard a near whisper coming from Virgil. Turning to the younger side, Logan asked him what he said. “I said… do you ever just wonder?” Logan frowned in confusion, not understanding what Virgil meant. “What do you mean? Wonder about what.”
Virgil exhaled softly before opening his mouth to answer. “Just wonder. Think about whatever might be out there. Us humans, we’re trapped on Earth. We’ll never know half of the universe's secrets, or the wonder and beauty it might hold. We can only glimpse the arcane, and only theorize and invent ideas about what might actually exist. There’s so much nobody will ever know, so much knowledge left to be discovered! Ancient myths and legends, they show something, just a glimpse! Artifacts and remains of ancient civilizations hint at mystery and long lost secrets. I want to know, to see the anomalies that are out there. But I never can. I can only be tantalized by possibilities.” As Virgil spoke, his rose and fell, seeming to illustrate what he was saying. His cheeks flushed red from passion, and a longing filled his face.
Logan sat quietly for a few seconds after Virgil fell silent. It wasn’t until the other side settled back down that Logan started talking. “I do get what you’re saying, I do! But the world we have is also so perfect and gorgeous on its own. We have everything! If people just paused a moment in their daily lives, they could see it. The high piercing peaks of the mountains, and the wondrous blue depths and diversity of the ocean. The miles of sand dunes, soft and stinging. The deep rainforests and jungles, green and thriving. And then, us. Humans, We’ve created so much beauty. In the form of buildings, monuments, cities. The world around us is so worth seeing. People just have to stop long enough to realize it.” Logan came to, coming to the conclusion he had gone on a bit of a rant. Looking at Virgil a bit abashed, he coughed mildly, and turned back to the sky.
“Logan…” Virgil spoke up again. “You’re right. Everything you said is right. Thank you… for opening my eyes.” Logan sat there, shocked and shaken. “I could say the same thing to you, Virgil. You have a way with words… Thank you for saying what you did.” Now it was Virgil’s turn to be surprised, but not for long. Because a phenomena was taking place in the sky that would seize both boy’s attention. Becoming aware of what was happening, both turned to the sky and their mouths fell open.
A meteor shower was streaking across the sky, shining with amber, scarlet, and golden light. Curled up together, Logan turned to each other, both illuminated in the light. Not allowing himself to hesitate, Logan leaned just that last inch closer and pressed his lips to Virgil’s. In that second, stars exploded and fireworks boomed. Lightning cracked and thunder boomed. Wind howled and rain poured down. Fire leapt to life within Virgil and Logan as the air around them glistened with beautiful light. Finally breaking apart, the two hugged each other closer and turned to watch the gorgeous fire and earth show above them.

caeldori interview. — ♡
forgot that i intended to toss this up to give some more insight into how i characterize caeldori, since the fates script is a pile of hot garbagé sometimes. ahoy!
what has led you to where you are today?
newly unburdened from the chains of war and eager to shed the weight of lives and innocence lost, the skylark takes to the skies, drinking in the promise of clouds and endless blue. the brilliance of freedom plays at her wingtips, and she envisions herself a pinpoint in the sky no bigger than a distant star, soaring over hill and dale, over windblown desert dunes and the sparkling ocean by moonlight. wherever the currents take her, she’ll accept, for giving herself over to fate is a beautiful thing — to hold onto that euphoric lightness of being and know that her life is not wholly in h
is it accurate to say ‘ hands ’ for something like this? the stoppage in the flow brings her pause, and she twirls the quill once, twice, between agitated fingers: long and elegant against the parchment crinkling steadily further under her elbow.
well, it’s just a sketch, anyway, she thinks with a sigh. she’ll probably end up crumpling this up in the end and adding it to the filling wastebasket of similar pages.
a new place… somewhere beyond the sea. she looks out of the window, and the sight is nothing breathtaking — just a narrow, loosely stone-paved street where the same hoshidan vendor each day arranges his stock on the corner, his calls no longer grating like they used to be and now just part of the background noise. a home that wasn’t quite a home but which she guessed was the closest she was going to get. an obstruction of tiled rooftops blocks any real view of the sky or the horizon. but somewhere past that, expectation awaited her. garreg mach. even the name sounded foreign and exciting.
growing wings and taking off was never quite as the storybooks made it out to be, though.
she turns back to the half-finished sheet. maybe she’s getting too tied up in the details, when really at this stage, it’s the rough ideas that matter most.
leaving behind the needs, the scrutiny, the envy of others and herself
even though she’s by herself; she never feels lonely. more accurate to say she doesn’t need other birds to be happy!
wherever the winds take her. she’s not here for a purpose, or a goal. not for anyone else or even her own ambitions. totally free!
totally free… her left arm bends against the oaken surface, and she slumps her chin in its palm with an audible sigh. it must be nice, to be a bird.
what do you believe are your greatest strengths? your greatest weaknesses?
❝ right, caeldori. this isn’t going to get anywhere if you keep daydreaming. ❞ she’d told herself that she was going to see this through, and she simply never did anything by half measures! this skylark… well, the most important thing about creating a story about a character is to consider their merits and shortcomings. the quill flips between her fingers again, lips faintly pursed as she takes to the page once more, refusing to be daunted by the project ahead of her.
Strengths:
sure of herself and doesn’t let the opinions of others get to her. true to herself
confident in who she is, doesn’t compromise herself for anyone else’s sake
magnetic, charismatic, and beautiful feathers to boot! she always knows the right thing to say, and always at the right time
agreeable! not too forceful or stubborn or set in her ways
modest about herself and her achievements, but always trying to live life to the fullest. doesn’t shirk the things she loves or her dreams
there, perfect. that sounds like the kind of bird she would want to be, or be friends with, if she were a bird. she would have so much to learn from her.
—wait! no, she can’t make her perfect. that ruins the whole purpose of this! right? if others think she’s good at everything, then they might be jealous of her, or even hate her. but maybe that just means she’s a snob about it, or something about her personality isn’t right. if the skylark were truly perfect, then no one would have a reason to dislike her.
… then, how does she come up with weaknesses? she’s fully aware that those are important, too. ( aren’t they? )
but isn’t perfection, by definition, the absence of imperfection? maybe if she tries to think of the kinds of weaknesses that perfect people might have… such as her father. something small, maybe, that’s easy to overlook. a bad cook? no, her father’s always made splendid meals to rival even the greatest chefs. works too hard? that can’t be a flaw.
( to have left me behind?                                                   — ... he did everything he could. )
… perfection does cast a pretty big shadow.
for several long moments, she stares at the parchment, feeling as though something heavy and incomplete were draining from her chest out through her fingertips where they touch the parchment, the backs of her thighs where they meet the chair, her feet; like ink. and she can almost see it — small rivulets, thin and black — flowing out of her.
Weaknesses:
come back to this later
if a story were to be written about your life, what role would you play?
it’s difficult to gather her thoughts back up again, but she can’t let herself be discouraged so easily. even so, her lips are suddenly dry despite vain efforts to moisten them, and the remaining blank expanse of parchment feels like an untraversable terrain, perilous and inhospitable. she sets down her quill for a moment, reaches up to idly remove her headband and brush back stray locks that have fallen loose. fingertips trace the gently swooping edge of porcelain wing ornaments that decorate the hairpiece on both sides.
every year, she wonders if it’s childish to keep wearing it. she’s had it since she was little — it’s impossible to remember what age, now — and maybe it’s time to put it down.
but each time she pulls it off and prepares herself to say goodbye to it, relegate it to some dusty corner of a keepsake drawer, she feels in the way her fingers curl around it the same little teeth on the band’s underside that had dug against her skin as a girl when her mother’s hand had closed around hers and pushed it towards her.
one drop of watery scarlet in a painting with little else in it.
as the main character of the story, the skylark is the protagonist
she doesn’t need anyone, but her natural charm and beauty attracts all kinds of friends. real friends, who aren’t secretly jealous, friends her age
along the way, she meets someone courageous and knightly, who’s perfect for her! he falls in love with her for who she really is and would do anything for her and they
          and they...
the monotonous calls of the street vendor come in through the window again, and suddenly the afternoon is just the afternoon. the view from her window is just a wall of faded rooftops.
parchment crumples between her palms, and she makes a perfect shot into the wastebasket before pushing herself to her feet.
she had to get going; this isn’t a productive use of her time, and she doesn’t want anyone thinking she’s shirking her duties. gloves, boots come on in practiced and efficient motions. she has her stable care regimen to attend to soon, and then she has to make dinner before father comes home so he doesn’t have to worry about it. after that, she’ll put in some hours with her naginata before the light completely fades, and after that she...

MONTHLY MEDIA: March 2020
So like most of you, this month has seen more time spent at home consuming things. Now, more than ever, I think it’s good to share what we’re doing and seeing and hearing. Here’s how March went.
……….FILM……….
Tumblr media
The Invisible Man (2020) Stressfully fantastic. I was relieved when it was more of a thriller/suspense sorta film (as opposed to straight horror) and hoboy does it deliver on making everything tense. Well-acted and relevant. Also very stressful.
The Muppet Movie (1979) First time seeing this and it holds up. I would say I recognized maybe 5 of the celebrities that were featured, but could easily tell when someone was supposed to be a familiar face. Man fame is a weird thing. Anyway, the songs and origin story were lovely and I really think what works about the muppets are their blend of absurdity and sincerity. Sure they snark each other sometimes, but their general motivation is to put some good in the world and I think that’s a great addition to our media diet.
Tumblr media
Jenny Slate: Stage Fright (2019) This is the first of Jenny Slate’s specials that I’ve seen and it was a lot of fun! The interweaving of home videos, interviews with family, and her stand-up added an extra layer to everything. Oh also very funny!
Black Christmas (2019) We missed this in theatres and were anxiously waiting for the blu-ray release and...I think that built up too much anticipation. I’m all for what the movie was trying to say, but how it said it was muddled. It also managed to be fairly boring for 2/3 of the runtime. Bummer.
……….TELEVISION……….
Tumblr media
Love is Blind (Episode 1.01 to 1.02) We’ve barely started this and I wasn’t sure about it during the first ep, but knowing the series quickly moves past the blind dating is reassuring. Very keen to see how this all plays out.
McMillion$ (Episode 1.01 to 1.03) I know there’s a far more popular (and tiger-centric) docuseries in the zeitgeist right now, but I’m really enjoying this. They limit the insane FBI agent after the first episode, and it’s the right call. It’s true crime that we can all relate to via the McDonald’s element, and for that alone I think it’s worth checking out.
Locke & Key (Episode 1.01 to 1.10) Wonderfully whimsical. The last two episodes have some questionable writing that really only stands out because the previous 8 were so strong, but I suppose part of that is likely due to setting up a second season? I dunno. It did make me interested in returning to the series (as the first volume didn’t click with me) so that’s saying something.
What We Do in the Shadows (Episode 1.08 to 1.10) Consistently strong season of television! It’s refreshing to watch something where each episode works on it’s own, while still offering lots of through-lines across episodes. Also that finale gave us lots to get excited for with the next season! Very very good series.
The Bachelor (Episode 24.10 to 24.12) What a dud. This season ended the way it started and that really makes one question why they watched it at all? It certainly wasn’t for the beautiful friendships formed between contestants. It wasn’t for the deep and meaningful conversations while the lead tried to find true love. It wasn’t even for the genuine drama about silly things. It all just felt overproduced and undercooked. Such a bummer.
……….READING……….
Tumblr media
Witches Abroad by Terry Pratchett (Complete) I love a good Discworld novel (this being number 12!) It’s like comfort food in these complex times. The Witches are always fun and I really picture the Sanderson Sisters from Hocus Pocus and that adds another layer to things. If you’re looking for light, humours fantasy chock full of tropes, check out this series.
The Incal by Alejandro Jodorowsky and Jean Giraud (Complete) After having read this just once and barely remembering it, I decided to come back to it. I still find it a little wordy, but the overall plot is so operatic and psychedelic that I’m glad I gave it a reread. It feels 70s future in a way that I can’t describe, and I can totally see why Jodorowsky wanted to direct DUNE. This is political and weird and has everything he couldn’t make happen with that movie. Anyway, it’s worth picking up.
Tumblr media
The Sleeper and the Spindle by Neil Gaiman and Chris Riddell (Complete) A wonderfully illustrated short story. Enough of Sleeping Beauty and Snow White has been changed and merged to make it a fresh interpretation and Gaiman finds a good balance of creepy and all-ages appropriate.
……….AUDIO……….
Tumblr media
Twin Temple (Bring You Their Signature Sound.... Satanic Doo-Wop) by Twin Temple (2018) A lot of folks have been posting their fave listening online while we all quarantine and it’s introduced me to so much (including this)! The title says it all and “Satanic Doo-Wop” perfectly encapsulates their sound.
OOZEFM (Spotify Account) I’ve started a dedicated Spotify account for Booburgh’s radio station, OOZEFM. Curated playlists abound and I hope you enjoy!
……….GAMING……….
Tumblr media
Neverland: A Storybook Campaign Setting (Andrews McMeel Publishing) My RPG setting! The ongoing campaign is continuing along well as the group spends more time in the mountains while waiting to find a fallen star. They’ve also come across a few pirates, so that’s also fun. I also ran a  one-shot with the Mof1 Podcast that you can listen to here (well, the first half)!
A Red & Pleasant Land (Lamentations of the Flame Princess) The group continues to explore the dual towers and after killing an egg man, rescuing a spider, and fireballing a bunch of the King’s court, they’ve been presented with a choice: door #1 or door #2.
Tumblr media
Celeste (Matt Thorson and Noel Berry) Such a beautiful game. The controls and concept are so perfect and each new stage offers something fresh. I wish those stages were broken up into smaller chapters, as I’d be more likely to revisit if I didn’t have to commit to the whole thing at once, but I’m splitting hairs at this point. Absolutely check this out.
Wilmot’s Warehouse (Finji) Wonderfully relaxing and exactly as the trailer describes: for people who love to organize things. The stress of getting deliveries/getting items to customers is balanced by stretches of free time where you can rearrange and organize your supplies at your leisure. I’m about 60% of the way through and find not much has evolved. I don’t know if I’ll finish it but I’ve really enjoyed the time spent with it so far.
And that’s it! As always, share any recommendos and stay safe out there.
Happy Tuesday!

Your picture is like a picture book, cute and very nice. Sasori is a person who lives lonely and has died sadly, but I am very happy that he depicted in your picture does not seem lonely. Is there anything you are careful about or try to paint or paint lines? Please answer. My English is written with a translation app, so I think it is unnatural. I'm sorry if it was difficult to understand.
Hah, that’s alright! I will attempt to understand this translation the best I can for you.
I believe you are asking if there’s anything I’m particularly choosy about when it comes to my interpretation of Sasori. First, it is essential to note that “My” Sasori, usually known to be sock puppet Sasori, is not necessarily how I truly interpret the character as a whole. In some ways, it can be seen as cute due to the product of my chosen art style- and in other ways, it is simply a laid-back, more “storybook” take on the character for my own enjoyment. It is not a depiction I would take very seriously, hahah. Most of the time, it’s all in good fun. So I’m not particularly careful about what I choose to do, when it comes to the world of sock puppets or humorous comics.
My true interpretations for Sasori are, in contrast to the aesthetic of Sockori, grim and melancholic. A lost desert child drawn astray from familial loss and the destruction of empathy, true, though growing into the desert monster that snatches up traveling traders from the dunes without a trace. My fancy metaphorical saying for, Sasori isn’t stitches, glitter and google eyes in my book. He is certainly professional in the ways of a serial killer- cold, calculating and devious- and I continue to regard him as such, as I believe it’s very important to remember, especially if we’re used to all the cutesy drawings, hahah. I have taken interest in his atomical ways and the whole scientific process of human to human puppet (as simply inexplainable as it can get sometimes) for a long while. All in all, the system of picking apart Sasori as an antagonist feels like criminology more then other days, sometimes, hahah. Both in crimes, investigation, and psychology.
However, this is not to say that interpretations of Sasori as softer or more personal are unreliable. I believe his personal trains of thought and melancholic ideations are especially important when it comes to understanding and piecing together his overall character. His strict ideas of “eternal beauty” and undaunted will to distance himself from his past suffering (the attempt at a puppet body) is how we are all first introduced to Sasori, after all. It is his relations between anatomy and puppetry, nihilistic idealizations over human desires, and remote interpretations of his village that drive him to turn against human reason in the first place— we wouldn’t be where we are in analysis currently if a more deeper, familiar look into his psyche was unavailable. Personally, I would love to read much more of Sasori’s biography, narrative or autobiography, if such pieces were ever available. I think an private insight on events and processes could reveal so much more, if not already, particularly from his perspective. Though I highly doubt seemingly ‘too good to be true’ content will be made anytime soon, unfortunately, if not by the fandom’s own hands. Let the creepy puppet man vent and be emotional, damnit!
Anyways- In my more serious depictions, I’m not sure if I’m particularly careful, but I am certainly picky, as I want to get him just right, as with all dwellers of character development. Hah, this whole segment is really making me want to write fanfiction for Sasori again. So thank you for sparking some long lost inspiration- and this lovely question! ♥️ Apologies if what you were looking for was not answered due to translation!!! Feel free to send another if need be.
For more of my ideologies, they can be seen in my written headcanons for Sasori by searching the tag ”#sasori headcanons” in this blog. And, if you don’t feel like reading, you can also see my aesthetic blog for Sasori, @sassori! It could also give you a good idea of how I envision him as well.
