Female Sparkling-tailed Hummingbird by Adam Rainoff
Via Flickr:
In the vibrant ecosystem of Villa Verde, nestled at the doorstep of Celaque National Park in Gracias, Lempira, Honduras, I captured the delicate essence of the female Sparkling-tailed Hummingbird, Tilmatura dupontii. The natural light of the setting played magnificently with her cinnamon and bronze feathers as she hovered with precision near a cluster of purple flowers. This image is a testament to the serenity and resilience of nature, showcasing the bird in a moment of stillness amid the dynamic backdrop of her habitat. From a photographer's lens, the challenge was to balance the subtlety of the bird's swift movements with the stillness of the environment, achieving a sharp focus that breathes life into her figure against a softly blurred background. The technique involved in this shot was a combination of patience, the right lighting, and a keen eye for the perfect moment when all elements converge. For my fellow photographers, it's these moments we live for: the dance of light and shadow, color and form, that tell a deeper story of our world. ©2022 Adam Rainoff

October 2023: Around The House
A couple of green tomatoes from the volunteer plant growing in our front bed:
I had to prune back these tomato plants in the backyard garden as they had gotten out of hand:
Now the swiss chard can get some light & I can actually find fruit on the pole beans. Not pictured is the box full of green tomatoes I collected from the pruned off bits:

Sunday backyard garden harvest:
The Garden balsam has taken off & jumped out of its bed. This stand started as three plants:
