HP FESTS: Dramione Month (Part 3)

Dramione Month 2023:

Reluctant Bonds by Biirdiee_Rose - E, one-shot - “It’s–it’s embarrassing.” She says, mumbling. “You’re pregnant with my child, I’m eventually going to see you give birth, I think I can handle it.” Logic, he’s appealing to her logic once more. He was right, this didn’t need to be embarrassing. She had hormones, she was experiencing them at the biggest extremes currently. It’s not like she could help it. “I–I’m experiencing–” She pauses, trying to think of any sort of way to make it sound less perverted. Sexual desire? Lust? “Oh, sod it all. Malfoy, I’m horny.” It’s as he’s blinking at her in shock that Hermione realizes his hand is still cupping her face. Oh, well that’s awkward. ___ Pregnancy hormones are driving Hermione absolutely crazy, and thanks to their forced marriage bond, Malfoy knows somethings wrong. Hijinks ensue.

When the day came where Hermione could finally reach out and touch her for the first time, tawny eyes held her in a steadfast stare that warned her against sudden movements. Draco assured her of her gentility, but Hermione knew better. She was like Crookshanks. She read people. You either passed, or you didn’t.

He’d been holding it in anticipation of her question, and now he felt like the hourglass had turned and the sands were rushing him along towards a yet unknown end. “Of course I do.” Hermione nodded as if she’d expected that answer, but the loosening of tension in her jaw revealed her relief. She turned back to Theo. “I need you to be our bonder. Place your wand against our hands.”

Whispers in the Library by belladeexx - E, one-shot - Hermione and Draco are meant to be studying for their upcoming NEWTs. However, Hermione thinks she'd like to study a different subject altogether. or Hermione and Draco fuck in the library and discover they have an onlooker.

Undisclosed Desires by cherrylotte - M, one-shot - She thought about the tiny scrap of hope she still held onto, the one that said Ron would at some point decide to commit to her, that he would finally call her his girlfriend and say yes, Hermione, we're exclusive, I love you. She thought about it once more and then she let it go, watching that tiny scrap of paper shrivel and combust and ultimately disappear. “Malfoy,” she breathed. “Why don’t we get out of here?” (In which Hermione makes a decision.)

One Favour for Another by MarinaJune - M, one-shot - “I’ve been single for a long time now, and even though I haven’t been lonely, I admit to a certain degree of…curiosity.” The smile on her face widened as he licked his lips in an uncharacteristically open tell. “I make you curious?” “Mhm.” She hummed in a cavalier manner that completely belied her entire proposal. Hermione knew what she was doing was tantamount to blackmail. She was banking on Malfoy giving in to the tension that hung over them almost every time they shared a room. The man was so tightly wound that she felt this the fastest way to force his hand.

The Wizard from A.U.R.O.R. by Wanderingfair - E, one-shot - “I have observed you, you know.” He looked down and then back to her. “Obsessively, almost. See right there, your breath hitches when I get close.” He took a step toward her and her body betrayed her by following his exact prediction. “And if I touch you here,” he brought a hand to her cheek, “your heart speeds up.” She could hardly breathe. OR The one where Hermione asks a simple favour as she and Draco confront their unresolved feelings for each other immediately before an important mission.

Matching Souls, Luna-style by MarinaJune - G, one-shot - “It’s an old spell that’s been in my family for generations. I say the incantation, take your sacrifice, and then we see what we see.” Bells rang in her head. “What kind of sacrifice?” Luna’s serene smile was at complete odds with the next words out of her mouth. “An offering of blood.” “Luna Lovegood! Is this blood magic?” Hermione hissed, infuriated that her friend would even consider dragging her into this. Blood magic was strictly forbidden at Hogwarts.

The Case of the Missing Book by art_emissss - T, one-shot - "How many times did I tell you to not use this hellish ladder?" Exasperation laced his voice, fueling her own ire. "Aren't you a bloody witch?" Or: what happens in the library doesn't always stay in the library.

Won't You Stay? by arielle_reads - M, one-shot - Cursed scars were problematic in the sense that they were always there to remind you of the trauma that put them there in the first place. It's something that Draco and Hermione are both well aware of and something they both can't escape, no matter how hard they want to.

Convincing Granger (No Books Required) by MarinaJune - E, one-shot - After a mischievous grin and peck on her cheek, Draco slid from his chair and under the table. Hermione cleared her throat in an attempt to maintain composure, all while feeling like she was about to scream with anticipation. Her palms slapped loudly onto the wooden surface when she felt both of Malfoy’s hands slide up her calves and push her knees apart. “You’re going to have to be quieter than that, Granger.” His voice was muffled but still clearly audible.

Subtle Discords by Biirdiee_Rose - E, one-shot - “There is a natural remedy to pain.” Malfoy says, and she tries to keep her eyes trained on his face, not on the lovely sculpt of his alabaster body. “Yes, there is.” Hermione agrees, interested in what he’s about to suggest to her. He takes another step closer, tentative, a question of permission without words. “Perhaps I can give you a demonstration.” - Hermione just wants to wallow in the misery of her period alone in the bathtub, at least until Draco Malfoy offers an alternative.

warmth by riddikulus_puff - E, one-shot - The flowery scented bubbles, the aroma of lavender and rosemary firmly were the only scents that were clear as day for Hermione, rose up from the large Prefect bath as Hermione slid herself into the warmth, sighing loudly out as it wrapped its delicious homeliness around her body. It was like a hug from her mother, father, or even one of her favourite cousins. This was the best kind of feeling ever, she desperately needed this feeling as a constant safety blanket around her body. Hermione could forever live in this fucking bath, conjure up food and drink and she loved swimming, so she had practically everything right here that she ever needed.

In Absence of Towels and Rules by MarinaJune - M, one-shot - “I can’t just ignore you in here, Malfoy,” Hermione insisted. She had duties, rules to uphold. She was simply following through on the trust the teachers had placed in her. She was absolutely not interested in studying the suds running down his chest, or the slashes from Harry’s sectumsempra. “Why don’t you join me, then? I’m still covered in soap.” He chuckled at her gasp, and she tried not to miss his warmth as he stepped back towards the water. Keeping an eye on her, he tossed aside his towel–no, she did not look down–and descended slowly like some kind of water nymph hoping to lure Hermione to her death. He then turned his back to her and waited. There was no way she could join him. It wasn’t proper.

Draco wallows in the sudden passing of his wife Hermione Granger. By charming her favorite books, he's able to live vicariously watching their memories while succumbing to his grief. It will be up to him, the persistence of his friends, and the legacy of Hermione's love whether or not Draco chooses to continue living in the past, or to shut the doors of the library for good. Told through a combination of flashbacks and present-day scenes.

I've been working on this for months, I can't believe I'm finally posting about it...

Adding fics to AO3 collections as a reader

Depending on what other sites you read on, you might think of a Collection as a kind of bookshelf for stories you like. And it can be that, but that's not the only thing collections were intended for.

According to the FAQ, "A collection is a group of works and/or bookmarks compiled together under one theme." They can be used for a fandom fest or challenge. They can be used by an author to organize their works. And they can also be used by readers to organize the stories they've read.

The important thing to keep in mind when adding something to a collection is: are you adding the fic or are you adding a bookmark of the fic?

If you, as a reader, try to add an author's fic to your collection, that author will get an email asking them if they want to let you do that. A lot of authors will say no. This is because the owner of the collection can hide all of the works in a collection, making them invisible to anyone else on the Archive. This feature exists to support fandom exchanges, challenges, and fests where all of the works get revealed on the same day.

If you, as a reader, want to create a collection then I recommend bookmarking the fic and checking off the box in the bookmark form that says "Add to collection." This will add just your bookmark to your collection, not the fic itself. You will not need the author's permission, and nothing you do will affect the fic itself or hide it from the rest of the Archive.

Collections of bookmarks can be a great way to organize your favourite fics, and you can add a bookmark to more than one collection at a time. You have a fic that is about your favourite character AND it's fluff AND it's canon compliant? You can add it to a Character Collection, a Fluff Collection, and a Canon Compliant collection and then no matter which of those moods you're in, you'll still have it right there waiting for you to read it.

You need to create your collection first, and it will take a couple hours for the collection to appear for you to add bookmarks to it, but once you've got your collections set up, you can just keep adding bookmarks to them pretty much forever.

tl;dr collect bookmarks, not fics and organize your bookmarks in a whole new way

addendum: if you are an author and you have allowed your work to be added to a collection, you can remove it at any time

Tolkien Fandom Event Calendar

Recently I’ve received some asks about events/weeks in the Tolkien fandom, so I thought I’d compile a list of those that I know about. This is not exhaustive, and dates are subject to change by the organizers of these events!

Other blogs you can check out are @tolkieneventsblog and @tolkienfandomevents, though I’m not sure how active those are. The @silmarillionwritersguild Discord also has a channel dedicated to signal boosts for all sorts of Tolkien-related & general fandom happenings, which is another excellent way to keep up with fandom goings-on.

🎃 this or that: bts at a harvest festival 🎃

i come from a farming state where the harvest fests always took place out in the middle of nowhere, under the hot, hot sun. think pumpkin decorating, costume contests, petting zoos, and more! 👻my games get wordy, but i hope you enjoyyy!

challenge Seokjin to a round of bobbing for apples (he claims his large mouth is superior but you don't go down without a fight!!!) OR agree to keep track of how many apples Jungkook can get (but lose count while resisting the urge to pat his butt. it's right there!!!) 🍂 hold Hoseok's hand while walking through the corn maze (it's marketed for children but he's still afraid.) OR build a scarecrow with Yoongi (he even brought some of his old flannels to use!) 🍂 dress in couple's costumes with Jimin (the Barbie/Ken to his Ken!) OR let Namjoon paint your face at one of the activity booths (he did a cat nose & whiskers, and you can tell he wants you to paint him next.) 🍂 wander with Taehyung while he helps a lost child locate their parent (you come up with fun songs along the way.) OR hold onto the goat snacks for Jungkook while he feeds them from his palm (this way, your hand stays slobber-free!) 🍂 decorate pumpkins with Hoseok (he's hoarding all the glitter paints!) OR mummify Namjoon with several rolls of gauze (everyone is amused by how many you end up using just for his thighs, alone!) 🍂 cheer Taehyung on while he plays classic carnival games & performs feats of strength (with his sleeves rolled up, ohh la-la!) OR make flower crowns with Jimin (you hope he will want to exchange them, and you match the flowers that you pick out to his outfit.) 🍂 go apple & berry picking with Yoongi (all the while planning what to bake with your bounty) OR ride the "haunted" hay ride with Seokjin once the sun sets (he thinks it's funny to try to startle you, but he also keeps an arm draped over your shoulder.)

I was wondering if anybody had opinions about what makes a good request for a fic exchange. What do you find helpful or unhelpful in the likes, wants, suggestions, or prompts part of the request? What level of specificity or broadness do you like and why?

I like tons of specificity as long as there are multiple prompts or your single prompt happens to inspire me.

I think mentioning tropes you like that have specific plot implications (e.g. fake dating or sex pollen) is vastly more helpful than those stupid "cerulean, atmosphere, mountains" type random word inspiration things.

I like it when people just say "Don't make them trans" or whatever instead of pussyfooting around their dislikes. The whiny idiots who must write you their headcanon will be insulted no matter what. Other people will only be offended if you phrase things idiotically.

Do not include dumbass comments like "I like dead dove" or "no extreme kinks".

Do you want me to write you necrophilia? Coprophilia? If I cannot tell from your signup, you haven't been specific enough about what "extreme" means.

If you have contradictory(ish) tastes, explain them. This comes up most with people who like dubcon but not noncon or who want lots of angst and drama but a happy ending with no lasting disability or trauma. It's not hard to explain this: you just have to be explicit.

As for why, I personally do fests to get ideas from the other people. If I were going to write "just anything", I'd already be doing it. I want to tailor something to you. That's the point of the challenge.

The sounds, the smells, the taste of him on her, how she tasted on him, the feel of their bodies pressed together… And here was Draco Malfoy ruining it all, performing wandless magic with the touch of his hand on hers and her name on his lips, casting a Bombarda on her mental wards, fucking everything up. Or An unlikely friendship, a car ride, a half-baked plan, and a last-minute decision that will change everything.

certain songs (aka, indie band patrick): David, owner of the recently re-opened Perennial gallery in New York gets dragged by Stevie to a show where the indie band the Creek Waders are performing. He crosses paths with the frontman and guitarist, Patrick, and finds himself intrigued. Mutual pining, David being an idiot, discussions about queer art, Stevie ex machina, etc etc.

gather up the avenues: David and Patrick dated while in New York but broke up, now neither of them can stand to be in the city because of all the memories. Patrick drives back home to Canada, but ends up stopping in a small town with a ridiculous sign, while David flees to the place with the stupid name his dad bought him for his birthday when he was a kid. I think you can see where this is going.

come on, get higher, loosen my lips: five times alex and henry talk on the phone and one time they wake up together (workshopping this description lol). Actually hoping to finish and publish this in 2023 but we'll see how it goes.

I have a lot of other projects I'd like to finish but I'm not going to list them all here. We'll see how this year goes. I also love an event (clearly) so plan to participate in some of those as they come up (hopefully for both SC and RWRB).

So, what is the Law of Attraction?

In physics, if a positive charge and a negative charge interact, their forces will act in the same direction and as a result, opposite charges attract each other.

In our gift exchange, though, it's everything about opposites attracting each other. Opposite personalities, colours, genres, themes, anything! You'll randomly be assigned an 'opposites attract' theme (eg light and dark) and get to explore experimental or crazy ideas!
