Backhoe Bonus Drabble
Tumblr media
This is a random summer scene that doesn't fit into any of my Backhoe chapters. I'll have a series of these that I'll probably add on as a separate work in the Backhoe series after the whole fic is finished, but have a tumblr drabble for now. This takes place during the time jump between chapters 19 and 20. I don't think it's majorly spoilery, and I don't think you need to read the fic to get it. If you like to read a fic pure with no surprises whatsoever, maybe read the fic first.
Chapters 1-20 are here, chapters 21 and 22 are mostly ready and will post this week and next, probably going to be like 25 chapters total please stop laughing at me I'm trying to end this damn thing. (initial chapter count was like 5) (go ahead and laugh) (but also feel free to encourage me, I think I'm finally out of my writer's block, yay!)
Late July:
Ever since Bucky became manager for his crew, he’s tried to make sure they don’t have unexpected afternoons off. On the one hand, sure, there’s nothing better than finishing a job early and peacing the fuck off to head home. On the other, well, you don’t get paid for hours you don’t work. So, he tries to make it so everyone’s getting paid, is all.
But sometimes, the timing just doesn’t work out like that. Right now, it’s 1 pm on a Friday, and they’ve wrapped up this gig, and it don’t make sense to start on the next job till Monday morning, so everyone heads home. Bucky promises some long days next week to make up for it on that paycheck. So it’s backslaps and a few dirty jokes while they all pack up, and then Bucky’s in his truck driving the winding roads back home.
Steve’s gonna be there, he thinks, with a grin he’s glad no one can see. Steve’s just come back last night from helping out with some action out in San Francisco. Greenpeace paid him to fly out there and do trainings on art shit and paint some big-ass banners.
Bucky’d like to burst with pride when he saw those damn banners hanging from a god damn skyscraper, protesting globalization. Steve was on strict orders from Greenpeace and one J.B. Barnes not to get arrested himself; he just painted the banners. Bucky had shown the pictures to Peter, cause Peter was the only guy at work he’s out with on both the politics stuff and on the gay stuff. Peter’s genuine “Holy shit, man” was worth all the teasing that followed about how fucking lovesick Bucky is about his sexy little anarchist boyfriend.
But also, he had missed Steve, fuck it all but he did, and dammit the guy was only gone five days. It doesn’t bode well for when Steve goes back to college next month, but Bucky’s never been one to worry about a debt before it comes due. That just means suffering twice.
Bucky listens to the truck for any errant noises as he drives. He'd thought he heard a knock this morning, but apparently whatever it was has worked itself out for now. He switches on the stereo.
Bucky tries one of the playlists Steve loves listening to, featuring Against Me! and a bunch of other political punk bands. Bucky doesn’t hate it, he doesn’t, but fuck, it’s a pretty summer’s day and the sunlight’s filtering through the leaves and everything green is just so happy to be alive and growing in the mountains right now. That music is so damn strident, sometimes a man just wants to enjoy some peace in this world and forget about all the problems. After half a song, Bucky switches to some bluegrass. He and Steve don’t have to like the same music, he figures.
Becca Jane, never shy with her opinion, has declared that Steve’s music of choice sounded "like you stuck a bull in a barrel with an electric guitar and shoved it down a flight of stairs." About three days into listening to the punk music coming out of Steve’s studio in the laundry room, she’d come home from her MCAT prep course and handed Steve a pair of brand-new bluetooth headphones and an ultimatum.
So the Barnes kids like country music and their houseguest, who happens to be Bucky's boyfriend, likes punk. Steve switched to headphones and there really haven’t been any other major conflicts with him living there. It’s kind of a miracle, Bucky thinks, as he turns onto Brushy Fork Holler Road. Jean’s out in her front yard gardening, and he raises two fingers up off the wheel to say hi, slowing in case she’s got something to say, but she just waves and looks back down to her precious rose bushes. Sometimes Bucky thinks she spends more time fussing over her flowers than Bucky does raising five kids, but to each their own. Looks pretty, anyway.
Then it's just another minute until he hears the crunch of gravel under his truck tires and he's looking at the house he's lived in his whole life.
The house is quiet when he climbs out of the truck in the driveway. No one’s expecting him, so that ain’t a surprise. The girls are probably down at the swimming hole or playing video games at Maria and Monica’s. He kicks off his boots on the front porch and goes prowling through the house. He grins when he hears Steve singing from the laundry room.
Steve’s singing is—well, the thing is, if Steve was good at everything, that just wouldn’t be fair, now would it? Steve’s a great strategist on this pipeline shit; he’s been such a help to Bucky on his quest to stop the fucking thing. He has a great head for the lawyer stuff and the activist strategy side of it. He’s learning how to cook and getting real good at it. He’s obviously a gifted artist, as everyone knows, and he’s fucking nice as hell too. The girls love him, and they are a tough audience.
And, well, he has other skills Bucky ain’t shouting to the world about, that’s private, but Bucky sure ain’t got nothing to complain about. When it comes to the bedroom, Steve’s a god damn prodigy, Bucky thinks with a shiver of pleasure down his spine. Steven Brooklyn Grant God Damn Rogers.
So it just makes sense that Steve would have a few faults, and that's the most charitable thing Bucky can say about Steve’s singing. Steve couldn’t carry a tune in a bucket—hell, he couldn’t carry a tune in a semi-truck full of buckets. He’d flip that semi right over, highway’d be backed up and on fire from here to Timbuktu.
Which is why Bucky’s at the door of the laundry room before he can piece together what song Steve’s torturing to within an inch of its life. It’s the fucking Dixie Chicks. Or just the Chicks now, whatever. Steve is obediently wearing the headphones Becca told him to wear at the risk of death if she had to hear “that atonal screeching you call music one more fucking time" and so he has no idea how loud he’s “singing”—honestly, it ain’t anything Bucky’d categorize as singing, but there are words and they are carrying through the door.
I wanna walk and not runI wanna skip and not fallI wanna look at the horizon and not see a building standing tallI wanna be the only one for miles and milesExcept for maybe you and your simple smile
Bucky feels a slow sly smile stretch across his face and pulls the door open. Steve’s singing a country music love song. Steve's facing away from him, wearing just a pair of boxer briefs and a loose black t-shirt. Bucky sees Steve's pants are in the sink; he must have gotten paint on them and taken them off to soak.
Steve's got one hand wide to the side like he's balancing on a tightrope and the other is painting some kind of white accent on a flower. He makes it look so easy, light movements bringing life wherever Steve touches.
Cowboy taaaaake me awaaaaayyy
Steve caterwauls to his flowers, and Bucky can't take the suspense anymore. He waits until the paintbrush is a safe distance from the canvas, then slips his arms around Steve's slender waist and lowers his lips to Steve's neck. Steve jumps with a little shout and whirls around, dropping his paintbrush. He jerks his earbuds out.
"You're early!" Steve gasps. He's blushing something fierce.
"Who's this cowboy you're singing about running away with, and should I be jealous?" Bucky whispers into Steve's smooth, pretty neck. He gives a small kiss. "Don't tell me I gotta fight a cowboy for your honor. I ain't much with a six-shooter, and I am kindly scared of horses."
"You're scared of horses?" Steve asks incredulously, always looking for something to direct the conversation away from his own feelings.
"Maybe they're scared of me? Me and horses never had much opportunity to get to know each other, makes more sense to be scared of horses than chickens," Bucky says, and offers a few more kisses to Steve's neck.
"Horses are majestic and chickens are evil,” Steve says darkly, and sighs, leaning into Bucky’s lips on his neck. “Hmm. Well, my cowboy is very handsome, you should definitely be jealous."
"Maybe I'll steal him away. I got lots of beans. Cowboys cain't resist a good bean."
"Well, my cowboy is good-looking but a bit slim in the brains department, so he might like you, actually."
Bucky huffs a laugh into Steve's neck, and drops a few more kisses, running his mouth softly up and down Steve's neck. Steve suddenly busts out a loud laugh, which is not the reaction Bucky was going for. He'd been expecting more of Steve's little sighs.
"What?" Bucky says in frustration, when Steve's still laughing.
"Buh—" Steve can't hardly breathe for laughing.
"Spit out whatever fool insult you've done come up with, then," Bucky says, a smile quirking up despite himself. Steve looks so fucking pleased, the jerk.
"Buckaroo!" Steve manages to burst out with a wicked grin.
"Oh, hell no," Bucky says. "Nope. Absolutely not. I ain't a fucking cowboy." Steve's still laughing at him.
"That right, Buckarooooo?" he taunts.
"I'm a hillbilly. It's different," Bucky says with a mock threat in his voice.
"Okay, okay, so what do you have that my imaginary cowboy doesn't?" Steve smirks at him. Everything is a challenge with this guy.
"Hmm, it's more of a show-don't-tell kinda thing," Bucky murmurs, moving back into Steve's space. "See, cowboys are all talk."
"So what are hillbillies?" Steve says, suddenly breathy, Bucky notes with satisfaction.
"Action, Stevie, we're about action."
It ain't but a second till Bucky's pulled out that sweet little sigh he wanted from Steve, and a whole symphony of pretty sounds after that.

Good Ol’ Ruins
i gave up on the name, i couldn’t think of anything better asdflknj aaaaand here we go asdlfkjn-
finally! a sort of first chapter to Scintillam! of course, this one will be focusing on Leona and Artemis going about a little adventure, as they are our heroines :V nothing tooooo crazy in this one? just smth to get y’all acquainted with them and their little world :V
it’s not too terribly long, but... i mean, nothing i write ever is feel free to let me know if there’s any grammatical errors and such, i don’t rlly read over my stuff much, bc if i do, i might never post it h- anyway, here u go-
It was a dreary, silent day in the Old Lands. Gray clouds hung lazily over the sky, rays of sunlight slipping through them few and far between. The ground was ashen gray with the stains of old calamities, no plant-life, from the smallest blade of grass to the tallest tree, was in sight, for few things could thrive in such an environment. Old ruins dotted the landscape, providing shelter and sanctuary for any creature that called these lands their home. Few dared to pass through, fewer still even considered exploration.
Deep in one particularly maze-like ruin, there were two of the latter category.
The gentle clinks and clangs of chainmail and plate armor in motion rang throughout the silent corpse of the once great structure. The woman in the armor was helmetless for the moment, as it was difficult enough to see in the dusk of the corridors without restricting her vision. Behind her was a large, white wolf, almost unable to squeeze through some of the smaller hallways due to its size.
As the intrepid duo stepped cautiously through the old stone and... metal? Corridors, they came upon another room, one of many. Several doorways leading to several more hallways, just like every other room. Finding their way out would be a daunting task indeed. Unlike most other rooms, however, this one was not empty. Scattered here and there were... strange... things. Seemingly metal constructs of various shapes and size. The knight started to root around in the chest cavity of one as her lupine companion sniffed around, investigating the rest of the room.
"... I still don't know how these are gonna help..." Leona mused, her voice echoing against the stony architecture. "I know Caecus said it'd help his research, but I thought his research was on dragons, not... ancient golems." She let out a sigh as she continued to search inside the hollow shell. "... I mean, I guess they could have been built by the dragons... we don't really know what they did when they were still around, huh Artemis?" She turned to her companion, who was still sniffing the floor. "... I don't know why I'm talking to you like you'll respond. You're smart, but you can't talk..."
Artemis let out a big sneeze, seemingly have snorted up too much dirt, prompting a giggle from the other.
"You're a big dork, and I love you."
The wolf just huffed.
After a moment, she pulled out a cracked, cyan orb from the rusting bronze mechanism. She whistled for her traveling buddy, and she came over, allowing her to set the orb in the bag on her side, alongside other orbs of various colors and conditions. The two continued to search the other old golems, though the first was seemingly the only one with a central orb intact enough to bring back. With that, they left through the rightmost corridor, and continued on their way.
A few more empty rooms later, and the greatwolf stopped in her tracks halfway down a corridor, ears flicking. Leona looked over her shoulder at her, raising a brow. "... what do you hear, Arte?" She let out a big huff, and started to crouch down, prompting the other to as well. They both stayed silent, listening, and eventually she caught on to the sound too. It was... singing. Not creepy singing, though any singing was creeping singing in a place like this, but more like... joyful singing. It was unintelligible, but the tone was there. A very... weirdly happy one. The two started to creep forward towards the source, the knight on point while the wolf followed behind. As they went through the corridors, one had a rare source of light, an eerie green tint on the blueish stonework, pulsing gently from a doorway. She snuffed her own torch, and crept forward. The room was similar to the ones prior, a perfectly square room, with very little decoration. Though, this one was filled to the walls with random bits of metal and glass and junk. In the center sat a tall... creature, cloaked in a dingy robe, singing to itself as it sort through everything in the room. Green-flamed torches were stuck haphazardly to the walls. She stepped forward, and almost immediately stepped on a bit of glass on the ground, mostly bits from broken orbs. The creature stopped singing, and slowly turned around.
It was sat down on the floor, legs crossed, wearing some dingy pants and its concealing robe, only the cover of the cloak keeping its disturbingly gaunt frame at least partially hidden. Its face was concealed, covered by a larger than average deer skull, most likely from a greatdeer, though long graying hair flowed from underneath its makeshift mask. On the antlers were many, many trinkets and charms, which clattered with every movement, and many more were on its body, hidden under its cloak. It tilted its head at Leona, and gave a few guttural... sounds. It didn't... seem hostile. Slowly, she stood up, glancing around at the room. It seemed to be alone. After a moment of silence, it scooped up some of its junk, and held it out, one long, bony finger pointing at her bag. She raised a brow at it. "... you... want to trade...?"
It didn't really seem to react to her statement, other than tilting its head. It didn't seem to entirely understand her.
After a moment, she noticed a small pile of orbs in the corner, a couple of them seeming to be intact and even glowing. Oh, Caecus will definitely want those. She raised a hand, and pointed at the items in question. "Can I... have those...?"
It glanced at her finger, before looking to where she was pointing. It glanced between the two points of interest a few times, before setting down its handful of bits of metal glass, and grabbed a handful of orbs in its near skeletal hands, holding them out gently. "... you... w-want... shiny...?" It asked, its tone halting and slow, but inhumanly deep and guttural.
She slowly nodded, glancing at the spheres in its hands. They were all... blue. That gave her an idea. She held up a hand, and briefly stepped out of the room. She opened up Artemis' bag, the wolf herself still very much on edge, and grabbed a green orb from the bag. It was one of several, and it was the most intact, but not completely like the ones the creature was offering. She stepped back into the room, and held out the green orb, the monster trader flinching in surprise.
After a solid few seconds of nothing, it set two of the intact blue orbs on the ground, and gently pushed them towards her, before hesitantly taking her orb in return. It stared at the object in its hands, before holding it close to its chest. "... I-I hath... shiny-shiny..." It said, before it started to sing in what was assumed to be its native language again.
She hesitantly began to step out of the room, the creature paying her no further mind, and stuck the new orbs in her partner’s bag with the others. "... I think that was a good trade." She mumbled.
With that, the two turned around, and set about trying to find their way out of the ruins, seemingly satisfied with their haul. They hoped Caecus would be satisfied with their haul, though they really didn't know what any of the things they were carrying were for. Nobody did, really. But the mystery was half the charm of these little adventures.

Birds of a Feather
Chapter one
Pairings: Canon!Levi x F!reader
Content warnings: violence, swearing
Word count: 4K
Summary: You were the most notorious criminal in the Underground City. With your organisation of highly skilled professionals, only one man could take you down. He also happened to be Humanity’s Strongest… and your ex.
A/N: asdfghjkl hello there. so, this has been on my brain for a while now, so i started this as just a drabble. what i thought would stay as just a drabble turned into this 22k+ multi chapter fic because i have zero self restraint or self respect. i’m currently finishing chapter 5 as this is being posted, but i want to keep chapters posted around once every two weeks so i can keep up with the workload. maybe once a week if i start feeling spicy. yeah plot twist this is actually the second time i’ve drafted this up. the first time i managed to get everything done and in order and then manages to delete the entire post with my huge disgusting thumbs. Genuinely felt like crying for a good half an hour.
This is also my first Levi fic! yay! lmk if it sucks and idk i’ll cry or something. nah, in all seriousness please send me criticism cuz i really want to improve and critiques are the best way.

“How down, Raven?”
“Six feet.”
Within the dank confines of a stinking alleyway, two green capes marked with the Military Police insignia crept ever closer to the taller, run-down building upon which you and your little squad of Shadows were now perched. No sunlight illuminated your position. Not that you’d ever seen the sun, or know what it even looked like, but you based your guesses upon the pathetic rays shining through the grates littering the ceiling of the Underground City.
The language you used with your Shadows, coded words translated to:
‘How do you want them to be dealt with?’
‘Death.’
It was something developed by your late guardian and mentor, Viper. See, you all had aliases in The Nest, your criminal organisation. The leader was often referred to as The Raven, however your mentor preferred to use his own nickname, stemming from his own reputation.
Then come the aliases for your Shadows. Prongs was your second, a tall, stern looking man with the black mask of a stag settled across his features.
Then came Wolf, and you swore the first time you’d set eyes on him, you thought a titan had wandered into the city. He was enormous, all 6ft 6ins of him carved in hard muscle. Slicked back silver hair and a beard that to rival a bear. Similar to Prongs, a mask sat upon his face, resembling that of a snarling wolf.
Following him was Verdant, Scales and Diablo. Your power trio. Though their special talents lay in different professions, get these three together and they were borderline unstoppable. A white mask decorated with three broad maple leaves obscured Verdant’s pretty features, Scales sported a bronze half mask etched with a snake-like diamond pattern, whilst Diablo, your trained escort, had opted for something that accentuated her own gorgeous features, a mask of black leather arcing high onto her brow on the left side, whilst the right arced low by her jaw. Though you were already spoken for, you couldn’t deny the beauty of Diablo. She did wonders when prying information between the legs of a moaning MP.
To your left crouched the twins, Una and Leaf. Una was gifted her name by none other than you yourself, after seeing her accuracy with a rifle. A single shot was all it took, from any distance. She wore no mask, something you’d allowed simply because she’d complained about the sight obstruction when lining up a shot. You’d agreed, but only under the condition that she wore a low hood. Her fiercely protective brother Leaf had chewed you out for that, but you knew he meant well. Leaf was good at what he did, excellent, in fact. Which was part of the reason you kept him on as a Shadow. The larger part was that you were damn fond of him. Of all of them, in fact. You loved every single one of your Shadows. Every single damned member of The Nest, you adored. You were their leader, afterall.
A masked helmet of black leather, similar material to Diablo’s, perched snug upon your own features. The hooked beak and obsidian feathers of a raven decorated the necessity, covering your face and hair, though leaving your lower features visible. It was a rite of passage, for you especially, and it signalled the start of your leadership.
“Una, set up. Verdant, Prongs, roundabout. Wolf…” your eyes slid to the giant man on your right, a dark smile slicing across your mouth. “Heel.”
The boulder of a man visibly sagged, clearly disappointed at your orders whilst the others sprang into action. Prongs and Verdant leapt across the rooftops in separate directions whilst Una removed her rifle from her back, parting her heavy cloak to reveal rounds and rounds of bullets strapped across her body. Leaf nestled closer into her side, whilst the other four took a step back. It was obvious you’d all been at this for a very long time, despite the twins not looking a day older than sixteen. In fact, most of your squad was younger than you, save for Wolf and Prongs, who had served their respective roles twice previously.
Sitting back on your heels, you watched your team get to work, the warmth of pride blossoming in your chest. Whilst you knew Prongs and Wolf were already incredibly skilled, the rest had flourished under your leadership. It had been ten years since you’d witnessed MPs put a bullet through your mentor’s skull. Ten long years since you’d taken up leadership and expanded the reaches of The Nest. Honestly, you were pretty proud of yourself, and none more so than when you watched your Shadows do what they do best.
Taking care of unwanted visitors.
Una took aim, resting the butt of her rifle in the crook of her shoulder, staring down the makeshift scope. She would be ready to take care of the two soldiers if either Prongs or Verdant failed to eliminate their targets.
Speaking of which…
That kernel of pride ignited as your (E/C) eyes followed Verdant’s careful, calculating form dropping from the rooftops above the alleyway, in sync with Prong’s own movements. The two assassins swooped with the grace of a stooping hawk, the silver glint of metal caught your eye as they both brandished their blades, before sinking the steel into the necks of the two soldiers. You didn’t need to be closer to see they were both dead. Expert precision. Deadly accuracy. That was why these people were your hand-picked Shadows. And why you were the most formidable gang leader in the Underground City. Your little criminal organisation had expanded into something to rival the killcount of Kenny the Ripper. You couldn’t help but chuckle at the thought.
Una lowered her weapon, strapping it back in the buckles between her shoulder blades.
“Finished.” she simply stated, turning back to drop down between the shattered tiles and splintered ceiling beams that marked your entrance and exit to this lookout point.
“Rendezvous back at The Nest,” you ordered flatly, before dropping forward and into the alleyway below.
“Anything?” you ask, a brow raised behind your raven mask as you saunter over. Prongs held up two sets of blades from one of the crimson bodies now gathering dirt and grime. Useless to you as they were, but somebody would definitely find an interest in them. Verdant seemed to be struggling with the straps of whatever gear these mosquitoes used to fly around. You’d never been able to figure out how to use it, but that shit made good money when in doubt. However, your usual buyers had disappeared off the face of the city, and you’d noticed a decline in gear sales since then. Gritting your teeth, you shook your head to Verdant, laying a hand on her shoulder.
“Don’t. It’s not worth it. The thug trio haven’t been back in years. I doubt they’d return to us now,” you explain softly, prompting the girl to stop her struggles and huff defeatedly. You’re heart ached softly at the thought of him, but you pushed the feeling down.
“Here,” she muttered, handing you another rifle. It seemed to be a newer model, something of an upgrade for Una.
“You did good, Ver. I’m proud of you,” that seemed to immediately lighten the girl’s mood, her eyes shining behind her mask as her mouth widened into a toothy grin.
“Thanks Raven!” she beamed, before scampering off back to The Nest, almost forgetting to take the gun back from your outstretched hand in her haste to make it back and tell everyone she’d received a compliment from you. It wasn’t an everyday occurrence. Rather it only happened once in a blue moon…
A huffed chuckle had your head turning and eyes narrowing to your second in command.
“Can I help you?” you ask, your tone dripping with the poisonous threat of hell if he chose his next words poorly. But Prongs continued to smile ever so slightly, shaking his head.
“Not at all, Raven. It’s just, in the last few years, since you drafted her into the Shadows, she’s really come into her own,” Prongs explained simply, shrugging as she stooped to kick over the now drained corpse, hoping to find anything useful. You bristle ever so slightly. That was something you hated. Compliments. How the fuck were you supposed to respond? You tried to think back to when Viper tried to teach you simple social skills.
“Uh, yeah. She has,” you respond, keeping your features as neutral as you could as you turned away, beginning to trudge back to The Nest.
“I’m serious, Rave. You’ve done incredible things for us. You know Viper would be proud of you. I am too. But…” Prongs trailed off, clearing having something to say but not knowing how to say it.
“Go on. But what?” you pressed, wanting to hear what your second in command had to say.
“Well, don’t you think it’s a bit much? Rave, it’s been years. Eyes have started looking in our direction since those three vanished. You don’t think we should be lying low for a bit? Calming suspicions instead of rousing them?” Prongs offered gently. You knew, deep down, he was right. But some notable gang disappearing hasn’t stopped you before, and it sure as hell wouldn’t stop you now.
“I’ll talk to Scar about it,” even just the mention of your advisor, and wife’s name gave your stomach butterflies. Scarlett Obsidine, your other, and better, half. After the disappearance of a certain dark haired man, Scar was the woman who comforted you, and though you missed him dearly, your heart managed to haphazardly piece itself back together and love all over again.
“Rave, listen—“
“Let’s go,” Prongs closed his mouth, the tone of your voice stating clearly that this matter wasn’t up for discussion. Especially not with him.
⎈⎈⎈⎈⎈⎈⎈⎈
“You know he’s right,” you couldn’t help but sigh when your wife’s soft tones calmed your irritated mood. Soft hands gently kneaded at the tense muscles in your shoulders, forcing them to relax as a tired moan escaped your lips. Leaning back, you peer into her shining sapphire eyes, locks of brunette framing your face as she took the sides of your cheeks in her hands and leaned down, softly pecking your lips with her own. You couldn’t help humming a smile against her mouth, reaching up to deepen the kiss, but she pulled away before you could.
“Scaaaaar…” you pout, looking up at her mischievous smirk as she winked playfully.
“(Y/N)...” Scarlett sighed, swinging her legs over your body to sink into your lap, one thumb now caressing one of the most prominent features on your face. A nasty, jagged scar ran down from the the top of your forehead, over your right eye and finishing just past your jaw bone. One (E/C) iris lighter than the other as a result of the old wound. Soft lips chase away the shadows of your past as Scarlett replaced her thumb with her mouth.
“(Y/N), I don’t want to find you dead in some alleyway because you picked a fight you couldn’t win,” a finger poked your chest as she huffed above you, feigning irritation. You roll your eyes, (E/C) landing on your gear now strung across the table. That raven helmet almost calling to you as you shook your head. Disagreeing with your wife was never a good idea, but you were feeling particularly bold this evening.
“Look. So many jobs have opened up recently. We have so many opportunities to make this life more comfortable. More jobs means more money, more money means we can afford the gate toll and actually see the world above ground. And I can finally buy you an actual ring.”. Technically, you two weren’t married. Who the fuck would be stupid enough to perform marriage ceremonies in the underground City? But, it was easier than saying you were devoted to each other in every single way.
Lightly smacking your chest, Scarlett raised herself from your lap with a hefty sigh. “One of these days (Y/N), you’re going to be captured or killed,” she said quietly, unable to meet your eyes. “And then what the hell will I do…?” Scarlett had now completely turned away from you, shoulders hunched. Running a hand down your face, you pick your sore body up from the chair, reaching her in a matter of strides.
“I can’t give this up, Scar. You know that. You knew that when you chose to be with me. You knew The Nest was always going to be my priority,” you held out your arm, hand hovering over her back, not sure whether to comfort her or let her go. The admission almost had her in tears, you could tell by the way her shoulders shook ever so gently.
“You still miss him don’t you?” It was her vulnerable, defeated tone that alerted you to the slight change of topic.
You fell silent, not really knowing how to respond. Yes, of course you missed him. You loved him more than anything. But those days are over, you knew that. You’d cried enough those following nights after his disappearance.
He was probably dead anyway.
“Of course I do,” you wouldn’t lie to her. That wasn’t fair. But you knew the truth was just as painful for her.
“Will I ever be enough? Will I ever be enough to replace him?” the sound of her voice had your heart in pieces. You loved Scarlett. You really did. But your heart wouldn’t let you love her wholly. Part of yourself will always be dedicated to that grumpy kid you’d fallen for all those years ago.
“Scar… I—”
“I know,” she whispered, stepping forward away from your outstretched grasp. “I know,” you watched as the woman you loved, and who loved you, stepped from your shared quarters, hovering in the doorway. “I’m sorry I asked,” she closed the door as she left, leaving you a frustrated, conflicted mess.
⎈⎈⎈⎈⎈⎈⎈⎈
“Understood, I’ll bring them in right away. Thank you Niles,” The Commander of the MPs stood opposite Erwin, arms folded. An expression of irritation plastered on his sunken features. Erwin simply sighed, realising Niles was wanting to stay for this seemingly impromptu meeting. With a nod of his head, a cadet rushed off to find the two soldiers mentioned in their little conversation. Being Commander of the Scouts often had its perks, like having cadets around to run errands for him.
Niles cleared his throat, taking a seat on the green leather sofa within Erwin’s office. “You sure he’d help us? I mean, it wasn’t too long ago he actually decided killing you was probably a bad idea.”—he raised a thin brow, peering at Erwin with barely concealed suspicion—“I’m pretty sure the Underground City would be the last place he’d want to return.” a knock at the door cut their conversation short, both turning their heads as Erwin called;
“Enter.”
Hange was the first to make her presence known, poking her head in as she opened the door. A smile adorned the slightly dishevelled section commander, her hair sticking up in all directions. Clearly she had been in the middle of something when Erwin requested her presence.
“You asked to see us, Erwin?” her eyes sparkling with curiosity behind her glasses as she stepped through the door.
“Tch, just make it quick, I have shit to do,” the monotone voice of Levi behind her made Erwin pinch the bridge of his nose. How many times has he told him not to talk to him like that?
“Yes, come in and make yourselves comfortable.” Hange immediately took up a seat next to Niles on the sofa, Levi preferring to stand against the now closed door, arms folded. Erwin’s sharp eyes shifted to Niles, an indication for the MP Commander to speak.
“Well, no point in beating around the bush. We’ve received an anonymous tip about some criminal gang that’s been plaguing my soldiers in the Underground City.” Levi visibly stiffened at the mention of his old home. His jaw tensed in anticipation. There would be only one reason he would be called into such a discussion, and the answer was a firm no.
Without his permission, his mind flashed back to a (H/C) girl, her face etched with that ever mischievous smirk. He quelled the thoughts as quickly as he could. He needed his wits with him, and allowing his mind to wander back to what he’d left behind wouldn’t help anything. Besides, the likelihood of you being alive was close to none.
“Section Commander, I don’t suppose you would have heard of the group but Captain Levi here surely would have done. The Nest.” Niles continued, now eyeing Levi to gage his reaction. And for a man whose emotions were usually on a tight leash, this seemed to be what cracked his impenetrable walls. His eyes flew wide open, frantically searching between Niles and Erwin. They couldn’t be serious. The Nest? That was where Farlan and Isobel used to—
Shit, he really needed to keep his thoughts at bay. But what he did know was that The Nest was an impenetrable fortress of criminal activity. Trying to mess with them was suicide.
“Judging by your reaction, I’m going to assume you are familiar with them, Levi,” Erwin’s surprisingly calm tone eased the growing tension in the room. Taking a subtle breath to calm himself, Levi’s eyes narrowed to his commander.
“Yeah. I know of it. Why?” it was a rhetorical question, he already knew why, but he wanted to hear it from Erwin himself. Hange looked incredibly confused, looking between the men in the office, trying to glean something, anything, about what the hell was going on.
“The Nest? Why are they so bad?” she asked, not afraid to show how completely oblivious she is to anything that doesn’t concern titans or science. Erwin gestured to Levi.
“Levi? Care to explain? You probably know more than myself and Niles combined,” though his voice seemed kind, there was a slight edge to his deep tones. One that didn’t go unnoticed by Levi.
A heavy silence filled the room as the Captain wracked his brain for all the information he could think of regarding the organisation. It seemed like hours before he finally spoke.
“Well, you got one thing right. The Nest is a criminal organisation. A nasty one at that. Merciless bastards. Whether you’re a soldier or a citizen, they don’t give a shit. They’ll leave you a broken, bloodied mess in the street. I don’t know much about their leader. Only that he took over from the previous one around ten-ish years ago. Since then, they’ve expanded their shitty little gang and taken over an entire section of the city,” he explained, poison lacing his tone. It wasn’t that he was above the whole gang thing, oh no. It was more the state Farlan would be in before he left to meet whoever the fuck led that group of demons. He’d never seen his friend so anxious. So afraid.
“You never met him? Their leader?” Erwin inquired, lacing his hands together on the desk in front of him. Levi scoffed, rolling his eyes.
“If I had, I would tell you. But I know he’s smart. And not the good kind of smart. The kind of smart where he would always be ten steps ahead of you. He has a small group of trusted criminals surrounding him at all times, called his Shadows. They’ll be the ones to look out for,” Despite his voice sounding bored, Levi’s heart was racing. They couldn’t seriously be thinking of facing The Nest, could they? But something in the expressions of both Niles and Erwin told him he was wrong. Dead wrong.
“They’ve been picking off my soldiers. Always in the same places as well. I was going to leave it, just tell them to avoid certain areas until this tip. Their next job. We know what it is,” Niles interjected, looking down to the floor, his own mind a whirlwind.
“And you want to intercept them. The same way you did with me, right?” Levi finished through gritted teeth. This was absurd. There was no way they could pick them all off. Unless… that wasn’t the goal. Levi’s grey eyes widened slightly, realising what they wanted to do. Yep, this was total suicide. Hange clapped her hands together almost excitedly, as if she was also able to read Erwin’s mind.
“You want to capture him! The leader! Ah! This all makes so much sense now, I was starting to wonder why I was here,” the scientist mused almost to herself, before jumping to her feet. “This is the perfect opportunity to test some of the concept traps I have in mind. Obviously for titans they’d need to be much, MUCH bigger. And of course a few modifications would have to be made so they could adapt to size and body type but oooooooh this is so exciting! I’ll start right away!'' Without allowing anybody to get a word in edgeways, Hange dashed back to her lab to begin her preparations.
“Thank you Erwin, the Military Police will remember this,” Niles said, before he too was rising from his seat. Throwing Levi an unsure glance, he made his way towards the door, only to be shoved into the hallway by Levi, who promptly closed the door behind him.
“Don’t.” he simply said, turning back to Erwin who was peering at him, his expression puzzled. Levi rolled his eyes again, clearly having to clarify what he meant. “Don’t pursue them. It’s suicide,” The Commander’s expression relaxed slightly in understanding.
“We don’t have a choice, Levi. Not only are hundreds of MPs being slaughtered down there, but relationships between the Scouts and the MPs are strenuous at best. It would be in our best interests to—“
“Bullshit.”
Erwin sighed again, having to hold his tongue. Snapping at Levi now for his language would only rile up the man more.
“Levi, we already have a plan in motion. There are soldiers down there now meeting whoever gave us that anonymous tip to further discuss the job The Nest has taken. It’ll be fine, but you’re going to have to trust me.” Erwin’s eyes bore into Levi’s own, the man once again asking his Captain to trust him in a risky call he’s made. Levi’s done it so many times before, why was it so difficult now?
It took yet another pregnant silence before Levi eventually yielded.
“Fine, but don’t be surprised when we’re once again forced to retreat with our tails between our legs.” it was a savage comment, but one that Erwin didn’t take to heart as he watched the raven haired man leave. Yes, this was a risk, but all his risks so far had worked out fairly well. There was no reason why this one would fail. No reason at all.
Levi leant against the door to Erwin’s office, looking down the hallway before letting loose a long breath. Not only would he have to go toe to toe with The Raven, but he also had to face so much of his past he’d wanted to forget. Fuck, this was a terrible idea. Why did Erwin always have to gamble? It was exhausting for everyone else involved.
Folding his arms, the shorter man strode back to his own office, lost in thought the entire way. Would he see you again? Were you even alive? Did you know just how much he had missed you. Just how much he’d wanted to see you again. To hold you again.
Did you know he’d looked for you? How his heart shattered over and over again each time he found no trace of you. He’d never accepted you were gone. Always holding onto that thorn of hope that maybe, just maybe, you’d survived.
Collapsing in his chair behind his desk, Levi unlocked the bottom draw and gently pulled it out. He delicately picked out a small, ebony bird feather you’d crafted into a quill pen. Even though neither of you knew how to write, you knew back then how much he had wanted to learn despite never voicing it directly. All those nights spent copying out basic letters from discarded newspapers and wanted posters. You always had this way of reading his mind.
The smallest fond smile crept across his usually bored face. God he missed you. It had been years and he still missed you like he only lost you yesterday.

Sneak Peek to Chapter 10 of It All Started with a Jacket
(I made ten chapters of this s**t. How the hell are you people still reading it?)
"Hey, friends," Luz greeted, joining Gus and Willow at their table.
"S'up," Willow nodded.
"Hi, Luz! Question: Me being a male cheerleader: Yay or nay?"
"I think it's absolutely a 'yay,' but we can talk about that later," Luz said as she sat down, "For right now: Earmuffs."
"Aw, what?" Gus whined, "C'mon!"
"No complaining. Earmuffs."
"But I'm younger than you two by two years. I can totally handle grownup talk."
"Earmuffs!"
Gus groaned, reluctantly covering his ears, closing his eyes, and humming to himself to further block out any noise.
"So," Willow turned to her friend, "What 'grownup' stuff you want to talk about?"
"Actually," Luz sighed, "I want to get your advice on something. Mostly because you're the only person I can talk to about it with things being slightly less uncomfortable."
"Shoot."
"You see...I have a question involving Amity."
"I don't give a shit that you're dating." Willow said plainly.
"You see--Wha-wh-wha-wha-What? What? I'm sorry, what? Just...Fucking what?!" Luz exclaimed, completely caught off guard.
"Hey, don't get me wrong," Willow continued, "I would much rather see you date almost anybody else in this school. But if--for whatever reason--Amity is the person you really want to be with, I won't say anything about it. The heart wants what the heart wants. Who am I to judge?"
"...We're not dating."
Willow blinked.
"You're not?"
"No."
"...You're not?!"
"NO!" Luz shouted much louder than intended, "Why would you even think that we were?"
"Uh, how about the way you two were acting with each other yesterday?" the plant witch pointed out, "You know, with the way that you two were giving each other googly eyes and having this playful banter?"
"First off, I don't know what you're talking about when you say 'googly eyes.' Second, what do you mean by playful banter? Our banter's the same it's always been."
"Except for the fact that you two usually trade cuss words every five seconds through your usual 'banter.'"

Fandom inspiration 2019
I follow a lot of creators in the SPN fandom on my blog and on twitter, everything from Meta to Fics to Art and other crafts and sometimes a bunch of things wrapped up into one.
These are things that I came across in the past year that inspired me or just stuck in my head over the months! If something you created isn’t on here, it doesn’t mean I didn’t love it (I honestly may just not have seen it). I literally love everything this Fandom creates. Everything I list is just stuff the aligns with other things in life that spark my imagination. But literally, everything that I see I love. A lot of this is from this current season of SPN, so it's covering the last few months and not all of 2019, BUT, I’m still putting 2019.
--
I’m first going to start off with @soleeryx. Their art is a recent addition to my dash and twitter. But they have beautiful Destiel artwork and such a unique and amazing art style that makes you want to keep looking through everything.
Then there’s the ever lovely @winchester-reload! Her art inspires me every time I see it, and it even kick-started my writing muse back in the spring. The realism but also fantasy of her style makes you want to be in whatever world they live in. I just got the calendar, and for once I’m going to remember to actually turn it to the new month lol.
Newly reblogged art I love came from @kimalydraws! (NSFW! ish)
There’s also @thefriendlypigeon, who, like, pls. I love their artwork so much. Also, I’m going to put @purgatory-jar on here as well because like DANG Y’ALL DANG. There’s also this picture by @ablavalba which never has left my mind since I saw it.
Speaking of NSFW, there’s a NSFW account I stumbled across that is some pretty good inspiration, and that’s @justanothertart. It’s not a SPN fandom blog, but it’s pretty fun to scroll through.
In terms of fanfic, what I’m able to make time to read, I have a few fics I really gravitated to! I also recently found @profoundnet which is a fun Discord server and has so many channels for creatives in the fandom!
In terms of writing in general, I recently followed @heywriters and @justawritingaid, loving these accounts immensely.
One fic I’m really enjoying is ‘la hantise’ by @wanderingcas. I’m currently two chapters behind because real life got busy, but I eagerly await catching up. Plus, it’s set in Maine. I LOVE Maine and try to set as many things as I can there without being too overwhelming.
Another writer I recently followed (thanks to profoundnet!) is @saltnhalo. Their stories are wonderful to read, and every time I see a small drabble cross my dash I’m like YES. PLEASE. YES.
There’s also @ltleflrt who I first started following because of the @winchester-reload picture I wrote my first smut fic on. The picture was commissioned by ltleflrt and then I read some of their fic and I’m like oh NO i LOVE IT! Currently on my to-finish list (because this is right up my alley) is ‘Hunter’s Caress’.
This came across my dash today, “Evangelist”, and it’s on my To Read list but I’m already going to put it in my inspiration list because college AUs are addicting to read, and I do love @dochollidayed‘s writing! They are just also a fun person to follow in general.
Basically, I just love @nickelkeep to no end, and they are a great writer and on the Profoundnet Discord, they do ‘Storytime’ which is like, an amazing fanfic journey on Mondays. It’s just fun to read their stuff, and they also just put out a master list today!
Here’s just another fic to list before I just completely get too long with this lol but there’s ‘Rocks for Jocks’ by @castielslostwings. ANOTHER COLLEGE AUUUUUUUU YAY!
I have a lot of things I want to read, and one of my goals for 2020 is to honestly sit down and read things and write recommended posts for things. Right now you can go to my “to read” tag because I reblogged a lot of these fics as well as masterlists (especially today with everyone’s ‘end of year’ masterlists).
Here are some more Fandom people who I have on my dash who write funny Fandom posts, great meta and post-episode discussions, and are also just fun to interact with (who weren’t tagged above) i HIGHLY recommend checking out their blogs and their work! : @7faerielights @cuddlemonsterdean (<-- THEY ARE SUCH A WONDERFUL BETA READER I’M ETERNALLY GRATEFUL FOR THEM) @bluestar86 @tinkdw @heliodean @johnlockshire @amirosebooks @spaceshipkat @mittensmorgul @misha-moose-dean-burger-lover @super-sootica @naruhearts @bluefirecas @fierydeans @fingergunsbidean @inacatastrophicmind   @dotthings @dothwrites @bibelphegor @notfunnydean @goldenboydean @thecoffeebrain-blog @woefulcas @aphony-cree @stormborndean @beefcakemish @hum-bee @jensensitive @jensenackhles @amyoatmeal @crxstalcas @blueskysammy @li-izumi @drsilverfish @spn-bitchh @canonspngifs @unisaursarethebest @netling
And my GOD there are just so many I realized -- I DEF missed people on that tagged list so if I did I’m veRY sorry. I literally love everyone on my dash and everyone that I interact with even if I’m not following you.
Again I want to stress that if your work isn’t on here, that doesn’t mean I didn’t like it, because I truly, sincerely, love everything everyone creates. It’s something from your mind that gets put on paper or in some other tangible form. That’s amazing. You’re creating something from scratch!
Just don’t wind up like Chuck! lol. Happy New Year to everyone! <3333

bring on the sunshine
Read Chapter 1 | Read Chapter 2 | Read full story on ao3
A short christmas drabble is up!!!!
Read the rest on AO3!! Please leave kudos and comments if you wanna!
Summary: With the help of their five-year-old “matchmaker” Taehyung, Yoongi and Jimin stumble into each other’s lives. Cue the awkward, messy pining and dating adventures with a noisy kid in their way.
The Min household doesn’t do much for Christmas.
The only decoration in sight is a cut-out of a Christmas tree that Taehyung had coloured in pink back when he was...two? It’s pasted haphazardly on the closed front door of their apartment, signs of wear and tear evident in the way the sides of the tree are curling inwards.
Besides that, there are no Christmas lights, no Christmas tree, no Christmas stockings. Taehyung’s present is there waiting for him at the feet of his bed. The heater is turned up high and the curtains are drawn. When the father-and-son wake up, nothing is out of the ordinary other than the fact that Taehyung gets marshmallows in his hot chocolate and gets to choose what movie he wants to watch that day.
It’s not that Yoongi has some animosity towards Christmas or anything. He’s not avoiding it due to some past childhood trauma. It’s just simply that his family never had the tradition of celebrating this festivity, and thus it’s never occurred to him that Christmas should be a special day, especially not when he’s not religious.
Taehyung’s happy to receive his present (a build-your-own-telescope set) and it’s just what he wanted. He’s happy to spend the entire day sprawled on his father’s lap as they watch Ponyo for the tenth thousand time. He’s happy watching the way his strawberry marshmallows dissolve into his cup of hot chocolate and how the steam smells instantly of pink goodness.
Yoongi’s happy to have a day of absolutely nothing to do. He’s happy that it’s nice and toasty in his apartment and that they’re not facing the harsh winter out there. He’s happy that Taehyung’s satisfied with his gift.
In the Min household, they’re content with the simple things. Christmas is just another day.
But not for Jimin.
Jimin loves Christmas.
Christmas is absolutely not just another day . It is the day of the year, probably the most important holiday in his opinion.
Imagine his utter shock when he enters the apartment breezily, red Santa hat perched daintily on his head, patterned Christmas socks pulled up to his thighs and presents tucked under his armpits, only to find Yoongi and Taehyung just....there.
“Merry Christmas!” dies on Jimin’s lips as he glances around the apartment. Where are the lights? The tree? That movie they’re watching isn’t even a Christmas classic!
“Mr Park!” Taehyung yells heartily as he gives Jimin his usual run-and-tackle embrace.
“Hello, Tae,” Jimin smiles a little blankly, bopping Taehyung’s nose half-heartedly after dropping the presents and scooping him into his arms.
Yoongi saunters over to Jimin, pressing a lazy kiss to his boyfriend’s cheek. “Morning, sunshine.” He taps the end of Jimin’s hat. The bell jingles melodiously. “This is cute. You’re cute.”
“Did you forget?” Jimin whispers, pulling a scandalised expression.
“Forget what?” Yoongi replies, shooting a quizzical glance back as he scratches the back of his head.
“Christmas!” Jimin widens his eyes exasperatedly, voice a little more raised this time.
“Oh.” Yoongi shrugs. “No, I didn’t. I know today’s Christmas but..so what?”
“So what ?” Jimin’s mouth falls open. He’s looking at Yoongi like he doesn’t recognise him anymore. Yoongi’s a little frightened.
“Daddy got me a present!” Taehyung offers sweetly. “And we pasted my Christmas tree on the door last night!”
“That’s nice,” Jimin immediately relaxes his face as he kisses the top of Taehyung’s head. “And I did see the tree you coloured. It’s beautiful.”
Taehyung giggles.
“We don’t really celebrate Christmas…” Yoongi reasons, biting his lip unsurely.
“What?” Jimin’s eyes snap up to Yoongi’s.
Yoongi shrugs once more. “I don’t know...it was just never a big deal to us, I guess?”
“B-but…” Jimin looks a little lost. He puts Taehyung down gently and shuffles to the window, drawing open the curtains. Sunlight floods into the apartment. “How can you be missing out on this?”
Taehyung practically flings himself onto the window, nose and cheeks pressed against the cold surface as his eyes turn round in delight. “Wow!” he breathes. “It’s snow! So much snow!"
Jimin ruffles Taehyung’s hair endearingly. “It’s the magic of Christmas, Tae-ah.”
“It is?” Taehyung grins with awe at Jimin. “I didn’t know Christmas was magical.”
Jimin frowns slightly. “No. This won’t do.” He folds his arms. Clicks his tongue. Nods. “Okay boys, dress up. We’re going out.”
“In this weather?” Yoongi sputters. “It’s so c-c-cold!” Just thinking about it makes Yoongi shiver.
“Poor kid over here has never experienced the magic of Christmas, I can’t just leave it be.”
“But—” Yoongi tries pouting.
“Not working on me,” Jimin shakes his head resolutely. “Also, grumpy people don’t get presents.”
He picks up a larger package from the floor. “Taehyungieeeee,” he sing-songs. “You’ve been a good kid right?”
“Uh-huh!” Taehyung nods frantically, practically salivating at the sight of the massive box. “I’ve been very very good. I promise! ”
“I know you have,” Jimin smiles. “Merry Christmas! Here you go!”
“Thank you!” Taehyung squeals, tearing apart the wrapping paper in a flash.
Upon seeing the gift, Taehyung exclaims, “Oh! My! Gosh!” His hands fly up to his cheeks. “How did you know I wanted a dragon pet?”
“Christmas magic, remember?” Jimin winks, beaming at the way Taehyung lit up.
Taehyung hugs the huge stuffed toy close to his heart. “I love it I love it I love it I love it! I’m going to name it Magic and I’m going to love it and never let it go.”
“I’m glad you like it,” Jimin smiles genuinely.
After a beat, Taehyung quips, “Does Daddy get a present?” Of course, he wouldn’t forget his daddy.
“I don’t know, Taehyung. Has daddy been a good boy?” Jimin asks in a teasing tone. “He doesn’t seem very excited to go out with Mr Park right now, though.”
“It’s cold,” Yoongi mutters sadly.
Just then, arms wrap around Yoongi tightly. “Don’t worry, I’ll be here to keep you warm,” Jimin tucks his chin on Yoongi’s shoulder and kisses the nape of his neck softly. He pulls away, keeping Yoongi at arm’s length. “It’ll be fun, I promise!”
Maybe it’s the way Jimin’s eyes are twinkling. Maybe it’s the way that subtle kiss made Yoongi blush. Maybe it’s Christmas magic. Whatever it is, it’s working. Yoongi’s resolve crumbles.
“Fine,” he rolls his eyes good-naturedly, a smile rising to his lips.
“Yay!” Jimin and Taehyung cheer simultaneously.
He could never say no to Jimin anyway.
Barely an hour later, Yoongi regrets everything.
His heart is beating wildly and wet snow is falling into his jacket and he’s tired.
“Time out!” Yoongi waves his arms in surrender as he clutches onto his chest, catching his breath.
Jimin and Taehyung emerge from their snow fort, hooting triumphantly as they dance around celebratorily.
“The enemy has been defeated! Christmas forces have prevailed! It is truly the magic of Christmas!” Jimin announces into the air.
“Enemy feeted ! Christmas forces prewailed ! Truly the magic of Christmas!” Taehyung echoes clumsily after Jimin, chuckling at Yoongi’s red face and red nose.
“Yes, sure, gang up against the old man. That’s the spirit of Christmas!” Yoongi says bitingly, eyes rolled skyward with sarcasm. “I knew Christmas was a bad idea.”
“Oh come on, you Grinch,” Jimin nudges Yoongi with an adorable grin gracing his features. An expression Yoongi cannot resist. “It’s just fun and games.”
“I’m going to die of frostbite,” Yoongi pants dramatically.
“Don’t be silly,” Jimin giggles as he lovingly brushes off the snow from Yoongi’s garments. “Look at Taehyung. Aren’t you glad he’s having so much fun?”
Yoongi glances over Jimin’s shoulder, only to find Taehyung spreading his hands and arms across the canvas of white snow, animatedly attempting to make his very first snow angel. He looks so happy, even with his cheeks all rosy from the cold.
“Maybe I should have done this earlier,” Yoongi muses, eyes still fixated on his beautiful son.
“It’s not too late,” Jimin corrects. Something warm presses against Yoongi’s cheeks. “Better?”
“Why are your hands so warm?” Yoongi can’t help but sigh, leaning unconsciously towards the touch.
“Because I’m your sunshine,” Jimin jokes.
“You truly are,” Yoongi breathes, eyes fluttering closed as he soaks in this moment.
They stay like that for a little while more, bodies subtly pressed against each other as Yoongi pulls Jimin close, Jimin’s mittened hands reaching up to cup Yoongi’s face. It’s perfect.
“My lips are cold.”
“Are they now?” Jimin cocks an eyebrow surreptitiously, a knowing glint in his eyes.
“You said you would keep me warm, right?” Yoongi opens up his eyes and puffs out his cheeks.
“Taehyung’s here, we can’t,” Jimin hits Yoongi’s chest playfully.
Yoongi licks his lips. “He’s not looking, hurry.”
“Fine,” Jimin relents, cheeks tinted with the prettiest pink. “Since you’ve been good today.”
They meet halfway, smiling through the kiss. It tastes of Jimin’s cocoa-butter lip gloss and marshmallows. Even with Yoongi’s cracked lips and the squishy feeling of snow in his socks and many layers of clothes between them, it feels wonderful.
Flashes of white catch Yoongi’s eyes and he breaks apart before Jimin’s satisfied, resulting in the smaller boy chasing after his lips.
“Wait, look.” Yoongi prompts, using two fingers to nudge Jimin’s chin upwards. “It’s snowing.”
Jimin’s eyes brighten up as he gasps. “It really is! Taehyung! It’s snowing!”
“Wow!” Taehyung exclaims, raising his arms in the air as he sits up. He hasn’t seen anything like that before, eyes gleaming in curiosity as he observes the way the snow descends down, glittering under the sunlight like fairy dust. Like magic.
“Wow!” he exclaims again, a little dazed as he stands up to spin around and around and around, his carefree laughter bouncing off everywhere.
“It tasth likth sthrawberthy!” Taehyung blabbers with his tongue stuck out.
“Does it now?” Jimin laughs.
“It must be Christmas magic.” Yoongi thinks out loud, his arm reaching out to pull Jimin close by the waist as he beams at his lover.
Jimin gazes back up, the look on his face brighter than all the Christmas lights on the streets combined. “It must be a Christmas miracle.”

1. How did you come up with your username and what does it mean?
My A03 username, and main blog and twitter and facebook and freaking discord and literally every single thing is Darke_Eco_Freak either with hyphens, spaces or underscores and basically I was an edgy 11 year old who loved Jak II and the concept of the evil version of the protag Jak. Only I wanted to be extra Edge™ so I added an extra E to dark.
2. Which fanfic of yours has the most feedback? (bookmarks/subscriptions/hits/kudos)
Hits: Sex Pollen isn’t a real Thing (it was one of the first smuts I wrote and it’s kinda bad now whoops)
Kudos: Sex Pollen again
Comments: T(w)o Me, Fo(u)r Us, or as I call it 2/4
Subs: 2/4
3. What is your AO3 profile icon, and why did you choose it?
It’s been Virus from this piece of art for some months now. Why? Because Kat made it and I love it a lot so you know
4. Do you have any regular/favourite commenters?
Um damn, I haven’t gotten regular comments in a few months except from my friends whom I spam with my many many fics. I’m actually in another fandom I made another archive account for because reasons but yeah. My friends are my fave
5. Is there a fanfic that you keep going back to read again and again?
I haven’t actually read fic in a while, there’s one or two Daredevil ones I think about but I don’t go back and re-read, my attention span’s been pretty shit for a while.
6. How many stories are you subscribed to? How many do you have bookmarked?
I’m not subbed to anyone but I have bookmarked 6 fics
7. Which AU do you find yourself writing the most?
None really. My latest fandom isn’t really open for AU’s, well written Au’s at least and yes I’m forever salty over that. Hmm, if there’s one I like to toy with though it’s Evil AU’s, you know the villain turns bad AU? Love em
8. How many people are subscribed and bookmarked to you in total? (you can view this on the stats page)
Subs: 465
Bookmarked: 2133
I don’t really care though because A) I’ve been in a lot of fandoms since 2014 and I know most ppl are here for the porn as per comments on said porn.
9. Is there something you’d like to write about but are afraid of people judging you for it? (Feeling brave? If so, share it!)
Idgaf. I’ve written necro, cannibalism, torture porn, self-insert stuff. Honestly I dump most of what my other fandom wouldn’t accept on this one. Plus Fyodor is a very easy character to manipulate for me so it’s always fun.
10. Is there anything you would like to be better at? Writing certain scenes or genres, replying to comments, updating better, etc.
I’d like to be better about my chaptered fics, not abandoning them and things like that. Also, action scenes, I want to get better at those.
11. Do you write rarepairs or popular ships more often?
I multiship myself to hell. For this fandom I write whatever catches my eye because I don’t know the characters all that well? The running meme of me not watching the show is still a thing. In my other fandom, I’m one of the few writers around and I write every single ship I can think of cause I can.
12. How many stories have you posted on AO3 to this day (finished and unfinished)?
One my darke account: 73, on my other account; 10 but I post a lot to tumblr and don’t really cross post all that much.
13. How many stories do you have saved in/with your writing program?
I can’t tell you that because I just keep huge word docs around but for the year I’ve written about 600 k so that’s cool.
14. Do you write down story ideas, or just keep them in your head?
I just write off the top of my head most of the time, I’ll talk out a plot with a friend sometimes but otherwise it’s just whatever I feel as the day goes.
15. Have you ever co-authored a story?
I have, two, soon to be three.
16. How did you discover AO3?
I think I saw someone on ff.net mention it and I started looking at the site.
17. Do you consider yourself to be a popular or famous author in your fandom(s) on AO3?
Fuck no lol. I’m here writing the rarest of pairs and writing oc/characters, not to mention in first person sometimes and those tags alone mean ppl won’t read. Eh, I’m just posting to archive to bolster the number of fics a character has tbh. (this is for BSD fandom but I’ve never been a popular/famous author in any fandom)
18. Do you have a nickname or fandom name for your readers?
Umm, half the time I’m not sure I have ppl beyond friends who read my fics so yeah.
19. Was there an author who inspired or encouraged you to write?
I’d say Lakshmi Persad, a local author. Mostly because I hated having to do that book in lit class and wanted to do better than her.
20. What writing advice would you give to a beginning author?
If you want it, make it. I’m serious, don’t count on anyone to make the content you want to see, do it yourself and people might follow suit, if not, at least you made it. Hella.
21. Do you plot out your stories, or do you just figure it out as you go?
I finish stories and still have no idea if I figured them out or not.
22. Have you ever gotten a bad comment on a story? If so, what did you do?
I’ve gotten a few, mostly I ignore them. But there was this one fic, it wasn’t for anyone but me and I shouldn’t have posted it at all but I did and someone told me that the characterization was completely wrong for the character I was writing and I ended up leaving the fic alone for months and months. I got back to it eventually but I’m not sure if I’ll ever finish that fic tbh.
23. Is there a certain type of scene that you have a hard time writing? (action, smut, etc..)
Action gives me joint pain. I just how do you make it flow?
24. What story(s) are you working on now?
I want it All
Deathless Sleep
Missing Pages
Five times he fell
Divine(d) Visions
2/4
Many lil drabbles and sexy times.
25. Do you plan your next project(s) before you finish your current ongoing story(s)?
I can’t plan to save my life
26. Do you have a daily writing goal set for yourself?
It used to be 300 a day now it’s 2k because apparently I hate myself. Most of the time I meet it, between the two fandoms I write for daily so yay.
27. Do you think you’ve improved as a writer since you first started?
Absolutely.
28. What is your favorite story that you’ve written?
Step back Through Time and Remember my Touch, definitely those two. One’s the original fic and the other is the sequel. Best things I wrote all year
29. What is your least favorite story that you’ve written?
Maybe Gone, that’s a really old one but god the cringe.
30. Where do you see yourself (as a writer) in 5 years?
Hopefully I figured out those damn action scenes.
31. What is the easiest thing about writing?
I think bringing the characters to life in my own head is the easiest thing.
32. What is the hardest thing about writing?
Not letting lack of feedback get to me cause I’m not writing popular shit, I don’t expect it but god damn it gets discouraging as fuck to see something I worked hard on just kinda flop and drown.
33. Why do you write?
I can’t do anything else and crave validation like the attention whore I am.
I’m tagging @chuuyasuggestions @kyusakusuggestions um idk who has archive shit. If you follow me and you see it, you have to do it okay?

The Crepe Creation
(Part 2 of a series of drabbles on Cophine getting high together)
Link to Part 1
Delphine was lying down on the bed in a starfish position. She raised her hands to her face and rubbed her eyes.
“It’s so daaaark! Why is it so daaark?”
“Whaa--?”
Cosima looked up at her girlfriend from the crepe batter she was mixing. They had already finished half of the Purple Haze king joint and she was suddenly hit with a brilliant wave of the munchies. Brilliant because Delphine told her she wanted nutella crepes and of course, the dreadlocked scientist decided to ‘elevate’ it. She was guilty of watching and laughing at a few Gordon Ramsay and Masterchef youtube clips, convinced that whatever she is making is going to blow the french woman’s mind. Well, if Delphine was aware enough to actually realize what she was doing.
“Baaabe, whaaat’s wroong?”
Cosima put down the whisk and batter, walked over to the bed, and hovered over her girlfriend.
“Je suis aveugle! I can’t seeee!”
Delphine kept rubbing her eyes as responded, worry and panic evident in her voice. This cleared out the haze over Cosima a little bit. Alarmed, the smaller woman reached out, took Delphine’s hands and stilled them.
“What?! Let me check your eyes.”
Cosima used her forefinger and thumb to push open Delphine’s right eyelid. The french woman’s light brown eyes lit up, pupils adjusting to the sudden flow of light into it, seeing her lover’s face.
“Oh. Hello, ma cherie... I think... I forgot they were closed.”
Delphine blushed, embarrassed. Cosima looked at her in disbelief, then laughed so hard that she fell on the bed, beside her lover. The french woman processed what she said and laughed hard with Cosima, clutching at her stomach.
“Waaaiit… You’re going to put Nutella on one siiiide…. and peanuut butter on the otheerr?!”
“Mhmmmm…”
“And theenn… You’ll put the laayerss of that on top eaach other?”
“Mhmmmm, I wiiill.”
“Merde…”
Cosima paused from spreading nutella on the second layer of her creation and raised an eyebrow at her girlfriend.
Delphine was sitting at the table, with her knees folded and feet up on the chair. She looked like an excited child, waiting for sweet pastries.
“Can we put ice cream on top of it, too? Aaannd chocolate syruuup?”
Cosima chuckled, shaking her head. She was definitely the functioning one. She was used to moving around and doing everyday things, even studying, while or after smoking pot.
“Yes, yes, love. We will.”
“Yay!”
Delphine clapped her closed fists, smiled and put her thumb between her teeth, biting it.
“Didn’t we already watch this before?”
Delphine looked to her girlfriend, confused.
“What? No. This is a new episode.”
Cosima furrowed her brow, equally confused.
“This! This, uh… Ce petit garcon, little boy. He already did that run where all those colorful girls follow him.”
“What? Oh…”
Cosima laughed, the opening sequence of Steven Universe playing on her laptop. They cuddled on the couch and shared a spoon, taking a scoop each of the crepe creation Cosima made.
“Oh, honey, that’s the opening song. It plays in every episode.”
“Ohhh…”
Delphine held her mouth in an ‘o’ before pursing her lips.
“I think I like this Purple Haze. It makes me stupid but it’s fun.”
Cosima burst out laughing once again, then leaned over to give her girlfriend a peck on the lips.
“Yeah… Yeah, it makes you ten times more adorable, too.”
Author’s Note:   So this is a drabble/continuation of the first chapter. I hope you enjoy. I think it also works alone, so no need to read the first.
The experiences of Delphine in Cosima in this fic is inspired from my experiences with my current girlfriend. Heh. She's definitely Cosima and I'm Delphine. Anyway, I hope you enjoy!

Fanfic Writer Appreciation <3
It’s Fanfiction Writer Appreciation Day~!
I’m not usually one for text posts but this is a special occasion so I’m going to spill my guts here and essentially write a love letter to all the fantastic writers out there. (fair warning this might get a tad very long)
Having read fanfiction since my early teenage years, the medium has always and will always have a special place in my heart. Truthfully, it was something I took for granted back then and I never really thought about the ‘face behind the writing’. But the last three years marked fanfic consumption like I’ve never seen before and it struck me one day there was someone out there, somewhere in the world, writing these amazing works and that blew my mind, even though it was something so obvious.
The time you put into weaving stories that pull readers in and sharing them without asking for more than a kudo or a comment. From the bottom of my heart, thank you. Please continue to share your amazing talent so I can fawn over you and know that you are appreciated and endlessly loved.
Over the course of the day (and beyond!), please drop your favourite authors a kudo or comment to show your love and support.
Whether we’ve talked or not, whatever fandom your from, you’re all precious and I hope you know that <3
(shoutouts under the cut)
Some of us have talked and some I lurk and fawn over in excitement (but would like to work up the courage to talk to someday!), but here are some writers that never fail to make my day and inspire me <3 (to those I’ve never spoken to... I really hope this doesn’t come across awkwardly ^^;;)
@chubbyhippo Vii~ What would I do without you. My dearest friend, we’ve been on this fanfic journey together almost from the very beginning. Your writing is so beautiful and eloquent, every word carefully chosen (or run through a thesaurus ;)) to deliver an emotion-filled piece every time. Thank you for dragging me into writing and I hope to see your WIPs in the near future!
@chom-raaa My first fandom friend! You have such an amazing way of conveying emotion and my heart is always swimming with feels after reading one of your fics <3 I hope you’ll continue to write more and thank you for never failing to bring a smile to my face when you comment!
@kurapls Back in the day when I read every soukoku fic that came out as they came out, To Ruination was one of the ones I found myself eagerly waiting for an update and giggling/sobbing under the covers over the amazing writing every chapter. Your world building and character development is truly mind-blowing and I have such respect for your ability to create such rich and magical worlds. Thank you for, well, everything!
@likeshining Star, star, star. I’ve spilled my love to you already but there’s never enough so here’s some more. I envy your ability to throw me right into the middle of a universe or scene and immediately have me engrossed in the story. Thank you for the amazing dead Chuuyas and angst and for talking with me about the randomest things <3
@catsbythegreat You have such a way with words that I honestly cannot explain. Your writing is filled with such unspoken emotion that I often find myself sitting there contemplating what I’ve just read. Thank you for your amazing contribution to the fandom!
@blackandorange To this day FLAR still pops into my head randomly and whispers feels to me. The raw emotion spills out from every word and it’s amazing. I can’t wait to read the prequel and sequel and experience the roller coaster that is sure to come along with it! Thank you so much~
@shizuos I’m not sure what to say because you are one of the writers I look up to so much. I found you through your skk drabbles and let me tell you that are all golden and I didn’t know something so short could make me feel so many things before finding your works. Thank you for your amazing writing and I hope we’ll see more soukoku from you? owo I’m not ready to dive into Iwaoi hell (or back into Shizaya hell) just yet but know that when I am, april 23th and tongue tied are the first things on my list to read!
@firecrotchette So uh... I read ‘all was golden in the sky’ early this morning and... I’m ready to binge Fair Ankles and The Yielding Air in one go as soon as I find the time. This universe is stunning and the I’m so excited to read an amazing Gods and Goddesses AU for BSD. The dynamic and emotions between Akutagawa and Atsushi were so vivid and real I can’t wait to really dive into that world! Thank you for such an amazing piece of writing!
@rimacchii found you through A Eulogy of Tragedies and slowly died/am dying from it and then discover you also write for BSD! I can’t wait to sink myself in your BSD fic, I’ve been resisting for fear of my sanity if the burn is like that of eulogy ovo;; but I fear I may succumb to the temptation soon. Thank you so much for the amazing writing!
AnonLearnsToWrite has the most amazing ideas and executes them so beautifully. And seredemia sunk me right into Gureshin hell with no hope of return. Thank you both so much. And also thank you to all the writers of sarumi, gureshin, soukoku, and other fandoms I’ve read but have unfortunately forgotten ;w;  If you’ve made it this far, yay! I basically just word-vomitted everything that came to mind and the extent of my vocabulary (of lack thereof) is astounding me (how many times did I use ‘amazing’...?) Please check these authors out if you get the chance and spread the love and appreciation! <3
*crawls back into my shell in embarrassment* =w=

AO3 Best Practices: How do I choose whether this is a story, a chapter, a series, or a collection?
Jenrose has two great pieces of meta/guides for AO3 use. One is a primer for posting Google Docs fic to AO3 and how to avoid the pitfalls thereof. The other is about the differences between chapters, stories, series, and collections, and why you should choose carefully which you use for different fics. I am not affiliated with the Archive in any formal way, and never have been, even as a volunteer, but I do use the archive A LOT both for posting my own stories and reading other peoples', so take my opinion for what it's worth.  Here's my take on stories/series et al on AO3: To decide how to categorize your writing on AO3, you should take into account both what feels good for you as a writer, and what works for your readers, as well. You want people to be able to find what they're looking for easily (so they won't throw their hands up in disgust), you want everything related to be together, you want them to be encouraged to comment/kudos. And some people (like me) who are fandom veterans and download copies of every fic they like for personal archival purposes (I've seen too many beloved fics disappear), and it takes very little effort for us to be happy, too. A story/work is the basic unit. It has a beginning, middle, and an end. It may be long or short, and it may or may not contain internal subdivisions (chapters). You should be able to read it on its own with no problems, and nothing other than a few sentences explaining the previous works if it's part of a series. It can be a work in progress, but other than that, it should be complete in itself.  This is what most people think of when they think of a story. A story/work should not be a dumping ground for short unrelated pieces.
If someone likes one of them and then gets excited that "oh, wow, there's 30k words of this story!" they are going to be VERY disappointed when they find out otherwise.
If someone is looking for one particular trope (say, wing!fic, or curtain!fic, or "Howard Stark's A+ Parenting," or any particular trope) and you tag the story as that because one piece has it, they will read the first section, maybe the second section, and probably give up in disgust because what they've read has nothing to do with whatever they're looking for. By putting short unrelated pieces together, you prevent people from finding (and hence READING) the stories of yours that they actually want to read.  Lots of people simply are not willing to wade through all of the different tidbits to find the one tidbit that they want.
It clogs up the tags, especially if you put pieces of different fandoms in the same "story." Say you have a work/story with three Harry Potter ficlets, two Naruto ficlets, and one Rivers of London ficlet. You tag it with all of those fandoms; it appears in the works list for all of those fandoms. Then you add two more Harry Potter ficlets and a Once Upon a Time ficlet. Every time you do that, it goes to the top of the tag for every fandom it is tagged in. This is especially annoying for the small fandoms, where they don't get much new fic, and they get excited because yay, new fic! only to be disappointed that it is not, in fact, a new fic in their small fandom. They will probably be very annoyed with you and less likely to read your fic in the future because it feels like you are using bait-and-switch tactics. (Yes, I have heard more than one person in more than one small fandom complain about this.)
You will get fewer readers. Most people choose to read a story based on the summary. They may use tags to find stories they might like, but a large part of the decision on whether or not to read this particular story is the summary. If you have a lot of unrelated short pieces together, you can't really write a summary that has stuff about them all, and hence you are DRAMATICALLY reducing the number of people who will read any of it.
Sometimes people are looking for a long fic, and will click on a tag (fandom, character, pairing, other tag) of stories they'd like to read and sort by length. Your collection of unrelated ficbits now looks like a long story of the type they want to read! Except it's false advertising, because it's not 50k words of what they want, it's 783 words of what they want with 49k words of other stuff they don't care about. Chances are, they will be very annoyed, and more annoyed if they don't figure out what the deal is right away.
You will get fewer kudos. If each ficlet is its own thing, and someone reads two of them and likes them, they can kudos both of them. If they are part of the same story/work, they can only make ONE kudos for everything altogether.
If someone does read all of it, and likes one ficlet but not any of the rest, and they make a habit of downloading their favorite fics to read while commuting or for personal archival purposes, they won't be able to do so.
There are two exceptions to this.  One is for drabbles (true drabbles that are exactly 100 words) and other ultra-short things.  Even if you put 50 drabbles together, that's still only 500 words total, and the very smallness mitigates against many of the problems.
The second exception to this is if you have a series of longfics, and also some really short scenes and gapfillers and outtakes and whatnot.  Then you can put them in one story with a summary that tells what it is--"short stories and outtakes from my [whatever] series"--and people won't mind.  Everything is there in one place, easy to find (if they like that series) or avoid (if they don't).  Everything is clearly labelled and easy to find.  It's not clogging up the tags.  Even so, if there's something that stands on its own as a story within the series, I would recommend making it its own work, rather than just a chapter in a jumble of scenes.
It is better to have a single work marked as a WIP than to have each chapter of your story posted as a separate work.  A chapter is a short piece that does not stand on its own but must be read in order with the other parts of the story.
Someone looking for a complete work will be very disappointed.  They thought they were getting a complete story, and all they're getting is one chapter in a WIP.  There are some people who don't read WIPs, only complete fic.  If each chapter is a separate work, they can't tell if it's complete or not ... so they won't read it.
The default at AO3 is to view a fic chapter-by-chapter, but you can also set it to view an entire work all at once.  If you post each chapter as its own work, nobody can do this.  Those readers who prefer to read a whole work in one page will be annoyed or disappointed.
Those who download fics to read offline or for archival purposes will find it much more difficult.  Instead of downloading one story, they'll have to download a lot and figure out how to get them in the right order on their device.
It's false advertising.  People know what a story is, and they know what a chapter is, and if you give them what is basically a chapter and tell them it is a whole work they will be annoyed.  Annoying your readers is counterproductive.
You clog up the tags.  This is especially annoying if you're posting frequently in a medium/small fandom.  Someone clicks on that fandom and they get a whole slew of "works" that are, in fact, just different chapters of ONE story.  It drowns out other stories and thus annoys other authors and any potential reader who wants to find more than just your fic.
So what do you do if you have more than one story (complete works that stand on their own) that goes together?  How do you handle that?  On AO3, you make them into series or collections. A series is a group of related works/stories in the same plot arc set in a particular order, be it chronological or otherwise. When you put things in a series, you are telling your reader a couple of things. First, that all of these stories belong together quite closely (more closely than a collection) and that they should be read in a particular order. A collection is a group of works or stories that you believe belong together for whatever reason.  Maybe it's "all the fic I've written about Bitty cooking."  Or maybe it's "all the fics I've written in any fandom with kidfic."  Or maybe it's "all of my favorites."  Or maybe it's "all of my tumblr meta ficlets." Note: I don't think there's much point in creating collections or series with all of your works in a particular fandom in them; it's super-easy for a reader to find them without you doing anything. They click on your username, and get taken to your dashboard with a list of the fandoms you've written in right up there top center. Clicking on the one they want will take them to all of the works you have written in that fandom. On the other hand, it's not like there's any problem with it, or any inconvenience it causes your readers, so it's purely a matter of personal preference. comments Comment? http://ift.tt/2rE8M9e

(Hardenshipping/SMA) A Pokespe Weird Creatures/Monsters AU Idea
A headcanon discussed with my friend :D
*yay first post! *just jotting stuff down *SMA just means that this is pokespe Maxie/Archie, whilst SAM is pokespe Archie/Maxie *spoilers for the entire pokespe RSE arc are all over the place; please proceed with caution *alternate spe ending involved
——————————
So basically Archie is this sea monster creature with anemone/Nihilego-like white tentacles, but he keeps a human form and can hide the tentacles with his willpower. Being a sea creature also means that his sea/water related instincts, like navigating in the ocean and swimming, are stronger than others. Oh, and tentacles. They look and at most times are innocent (you can play with them *ahem*) but can also be very destructive.
Maxie is this Great Demon that can only be injured or killed by sacred Arceus things like holy water, blessed weapons, that kind of stuff. The basic requirement nowadays is to just avoid churches (sacred-ish places) and historic museums (where all the "sacred" things are stored now). If injured or killed by other methods, he'll just regenerate within minutes of time. He has a demon tail, wings, and horns that could release flames containing his own memories (i.e. memory lighter; plugging these spe settings in there right now). He can also manipulate flames to create mirages that affects sight (sorry Blaise).
The two of them start off as normal kids but realize that they're not human somewhere around their teens. Archie doesn't have anyone to trust in as he was growing up so he develops a calm and manipulative nature in order to protect himself. He tries to live off like a normal human. He does. On a side note, Archie has always had an interest in marine biology and ocean/water science related topics; it doesn't have anything to do with him being a sea monster but being one does help him a little as the affinity to water does exist. He forms Team Aqua sometime later in his adulthood. Everyone in Aqua thinks he's just a normal human that's kinda scary and strict. The grunts and the three admins are all human. Well, there might be a really minor grunt or two that's not.
Maxie hides his identity from the public too. Like Sea Monster! Archie's tentacles, demons can hide their horns, wings, and tail using will-power. Unlike Archie, he already finds some company during his teens, though, foes at first but friends after a fight or two later because he's the Great Demon and not just a regular demon so monster people are attracted by his aura or something.
(The Great Maxie used Great Demon Charm! The opponent monster has been captivated by his greatness! Would you like to nickname your new monster person? *no that's not what really happened*)
He gets to lead a bunch of people that secretly hide their monster-ness. As more and more monster people join along Maxie, he meets smaller demons Courtney, Tabitha and Blaise; this was probably when he was in his mid-twenties. Smaller demons can also use the memory and mirage flames (plugging these spe settings in again), but it takes a little more will-power and they regenerate slower. Somewhere around that time Maxie founded Team Magma, because now there's too many monster people around and they have to find a way to not look too suspicious, so why not just say we're this big secret organization thing that wants to expand land! (Maxie wants to do this anyway, being the land dork he is, and somehow convinces everyone that expanding the land and getting Groudon on their side will help.) They manage to design their uniform into demon-horned hoodies because it makes using will-power to hide their own demon horns easier. (I dunno, monster mechanics. Actually helps other monsters maintain a more human form too. Might be magic-cast hoodies.) ↑Spe has a lot of weird stuff (like the memory lighter and Guile's sword and armor), let's just add magical hoodies into the list too! It just works. I guess.
Then time passes, the RS chapter happens, Archie meets Maxie, and supposedly they develop an interesting relationship (*ahem*). And then stuff goes wrong, and the Sird Showdown happens. Archie unleashes his sea monster destructiveness on Maxie, revealing himself as not human thinking that this'll be over with anyways since it's him or Maxie, but to Archie's surprise Maxie doesn't budge at all when Archie proceeds to finish him. (The only thing Maxie tells Archie is to keep his Magma clothes.) Sird's like “this is interesting you are so much more evil than I thought!” and starts to do that voodoo thing shown in the Emerald chapter, when all of a sudden a Great (naked) Demon Maxie with horns and wings and his tail appears before Archie and behind Sird and goes "Guile Hideout sounds like a pretty badass name" (or, depending on when he revived, the line will vary - c'mon he's the Great Maxie he needs to show off), which shocks the other two people. (Whether it's the naked part or the "dear Arceus Maxie's not human" part...*and this is why you keep people's clothes*) Sird runs because it's just not wise to mess with what is apparently a demon even if you are a super cool and manipulative and evil villainess. Archie still has no clue what just happened. Maxie feels great because no more Orb Syndrome (you know, the haunting condition that plagues Spencer the old guy and Archie, mentioned in the Emerald chapter) after regeneration, and explains what he really is to Archie. (While getting dressed.) Archie is now kind of Guile and kind of not Guile; he hasn't gotten rid of the Orb Syndrome yet so he still has to be in that armor in order to sustain himself. Maxie reassures him that everything will be fine.
By the way everybody else recovers because Celebi is amazing to all the "good" people; the Three Fires are already reorganizing Team Magma. They still believe in Maxie because MAGMA IS FAMILY *no* (spe Magma feels like that though) Aqua on the other hand is thinking about disbanding. Archie has done some unthinkable stuff in RS after all, like betraying and dumping your admin into the sea *blame the spe author*
Meanwhile Maxie and armored Archie finds some discreet place to stay over the night (Great Demon Maxie used Flame Mirage! No one notices them). The two of them discuss futures and decides that they'll have to apologize to their team first about their plans to make the world a better place failing and destroying the world accidentally. Archie has to do a LOT of apologizing because of what he's done in the RS chapter. And then they'll figure out how to rid Archie of his Orb Syndrome. They also manage to blurt about their lives hiding the fact that they're not human and sympathize with each other.
And then they go through it all, Emerald chapter still happens because Archie needs Jirachi to recover. But instead of Guile Archie wrecking everything and summoning a demonic Kyogre, Sird does all the bad things secretly and frames Archie (FOR EVIL! *I'm sorry Sird fans*). Archie and Maxie and the entire Magma team's monster identities also gets revealed in the process - it was done to make them look really bad - and everyone is mind blown and falls for it for a moment. But Magma and Aqua have been doing good things contributing to the world lately; they decided to reform. So the kids believe that they mean no harm and ask them to be one their side; Sird has stirred some problems in the Battle Frontier secretly and now it’s affecting everyone. Archie and Maxie, along with the others, sort out whatever mess Sird was making to prove a point. Everything works out in the end and Archie recovers, (the protags get their wish too), the world is not destroyed, happy endings for everyone!
↑That's most of it.
Thoughts: This was such a long drabble… I’m sorry if you got here and had to read that much > < I hope you liked it. I really disliked the spe RSE ending with the whole “make Maxie and Archie super evil for no reason and then let them die” plot. The whole build up to it was just horrible - they weren’t like this in the original games - and my friend thought so too, so the two of us kinda made up an alternate ending where stuff does work out while adding some special touches to it. The main goal was to not let Maxie die when they fought for the armor and the sword. Archie would’ve been so much less crazier if Maxie haven’t died, even without the hardenshipping/weird creature settings. (cue Archie’s flashback in Emerald chapter) Having both of them alive also wrecks Sird’s plan in a sense that they failed to achieve "the full evil” that Sird wanted them to have. We need more happy endings with villains in pokespe ahhhhh this is why headcanons exist right? Gotta fix ‘em up!! I’ll probably come up with more cute things pertinent to this AU (this counts as an alternate universe, right?) sometime in the future; thanks again for reading all this! ;O

Autor Honesty Hour
tagged by @thepurplewriter333 and @wilderwestqueen.
Thank you for nothing, you fantastic people :D
THE STORIES
1. Which is the fic you’re most proud of?
Once Mine (what a surprise). But it is true - not so much for the chapters that are posted (although I believe they make a pretty good introduction on their own) but for where this story is heading. It’s my longest fic, and the one I have and will be writing for longer than anything else in my life.
2. Which is your least favorite?
Pff. Probably that silly drunk!Hiccup drabble I wrote for @tarched's event in the summer. Believe it or not, but that thing does have a second chapter. I just didn’t think it was worth translating.
3. If you were to recommend one to read to your mom?
Probably something that doesn’t resolve around Hiccstrid being all fluffy?
4. Which one would you consider re-writing?
The first three or four chapters of Once Mine. I believe the story is good, but those chapters are not, mostly when it comes to the language (or languages as I’m translating the fic from Polisg to English).
I don’t think I care for any of my other stories enough to come back to them, when I can just go on with the new stuff.
5. Biggest regret in a fic?
Not writing at least a few chapters of Once Mine in advance before first posting it.
I mean it. The problem concerns all of the multichaptered fics, but OM is the best example of that. Like, when I first posted it, I got pretty nice reviews, and the readers seemed to be genuinely interested. But then I had to focus on the university, or wasn’t inspired enough (add the pain of translating and it all gets 100% worse), which lead to really long, unnecessary long gaps between the updates. I’m pretty sure it made some of the readers lose interest, and honestly, I can’t even blame them.
Also, maybe if I had waited a little longer, I would’ve been more aware of all the mistakes I’d done, and fixed them on time, and thus it wouldn’t be bothering my now.
6. Biggest success with a fic?
She’s not my Soulmate.
My very first multichaptered hiccstrid story, and also the one I wrote almost in one go, so I could afford the regular updates. None of my stories has ever got so many views/favourites/followed/reviews/notes in such a short time.
And it was despite it being a Modern AU.
7. Your fic with the most notes?
You turned away.
The only rtte story I manage to post shortly after the new season, hiccstrid, an alternative ending fo Blindsided. I wrote many better stories, but I apparently those details were more important ;)
8. Your fic with the least notes?
When I posted the first chapter of You looked a Mess, a four-chapter long hiccunzel story, it got no notes at all. Literally. For half a year.
9. What do you think makes a good fic? Tips?
When you’ve got an idea, write it down. Don’t let yourself be stopped by thinking “Oh, but I’ve got so many other works to finish!”. It doesn’t matter. That’s one.
Then, if it’s a longer fic, then it’s always good to know where you’re heading - try to plan it, either on paper, a word document, or in your head - whatever works best for you. That’s two
Last but not least - don’t be afraid to throw away fragments you don’t like. Deleting your writing is often more difficult than writing itself - t’s scary to just erase 800 words you’ve just written in pain, but it may turn out that after you do it, you’ll write twice as much with less struggling. And that it will be better.
10. When’s the next update on your works?
Once Mine, which I hope to update tomorrow (yay!). I suppose It’s hard to stop worrying, my Jlaire fic is the next in line.
11. Number of followers before you started writing and after?
I. Have. No. Idea.
THE WRITER
1. Which character do you love writing for?
Side characters in general. I don’t know why, but writing them always seem so much easier and more fun? I love writing the Twins and Snotlout in Once Mine. And I enjoyed writing Toby much more than Jim and Claire in It’s hard to stop worrying. If I ever get to write a thing for other fandoms, you can bet I will write for side characters there as well.
Blinky is gonna appear in the upcoming chapters of IHTSW and I’m already freaking out about it
2. Which character do you dislike writing for?
I’m not sure I’d use the word “dislike” but writing Astrid can be a pain in the neck. Not because I don’t like her - I love her, but it is difficult to keep her in character, for me at least.
3. What’s your favorite AU to write for?
Does crossover count as an AU?
4. What’s your least favorite AU to write for?
I don’t know? I mean, I didn’t write that many AU stories in the first place.
5. What do you hope never gets requested?
Alright, this may come out as a controversy, but... a gay pairing.
With all the respect to you guys, but it is not my thing. I couldn’t write about it, and wouldn’t write about it - but it would be pretty difficult to turn someone’s request down like this.
6. What do you wish was requested more?
Crossovers. I entered this fandom as a crossover video editor, and it hurts me to see the idea of crossovers is dying.
7. Thoughts on writing Smut/POC/Curvy/MxM/FxF?
No smut coming from me. First, it’s inappropriate, second, I don’t know one damn thing about it.
As POC, I come from a very white society, so the problem (or better said, theme) isn’t something I could relate to, or could describe well.
8. Which account is your biggest inspiration in writing?
@cried2dream is the reason why I started to write in the first place.
@wilderwestqueen is totally responsible for the way I perceive and write hiccstrid (especially modern)
@frostandfairytales / @ktmbinspired is the one who makes me believe that our writing matter, and that we can go beyond the boundaries of canon
9. How long have you been a fic writer for?
Excluding my endeavours to write an original novel somewhere around 2012-2014, it’s been a bit more than two years. I posted the first chapter of OM in October 2015, and it kind of went from there.
10. Any upcoming secret works?
There are a few. Some Hiccstrid, some Jlaire... We’ll see. Fingers crossed I’l live long enough to write and publish them.
I tag @cried2dream and @frostandfairytales. Can’t wait for your response! :)
