Question: if you were one of the Supergirl writers and had been tasked with explaining how or why Lena didn’t know Kara was Supergirl (given how generally obvious it would be when Lena— the world’s smartest woman— has interacted with both Kara and SG) would you have written something fundamentally different than what the show decided to go with?
i couldn’t sleep this morning, suddenly remembered this ask, and decided i desperately needed to answer it.
so my absolute favorite explanation for this was in "The Love of Forgetting" by KL Morgan. i know it would've been extremely difficult to execute on film, but i would've really liked if the explanation had been that kara used cloaking tech or the "image inducer" and that it slightly changed her face. i thought this was SO smart in the fanfic, and one of the few explanations i could actually buy; that lena doesn't recognize kara because they LITERALLY don't look the same. just both blonde, fit, and beautiful, but not the same faces. it would've been amazing if they'd just used her stunt double, but then you wouldn't have your star actress in the dramatic scenes, so. i get it.
the only other explanation i liked was for superman. i'd think i'd seen a post on here about it, but it was the idea that no one THOUGHT superman had an alter ego. no one imagined that he would pretend to be human in his downtime and hold down a job and have friends. no one was looking for superman in the real world, so no one saw the similarities between he and clark kent. that might get us to lena not recognizing kara, but my god... the evidence was abundant and insurmountable on the show which leads us to fanfic's most popular explanation...
denial. i think this one treads water a bit because we know lena's had a highly traumatic, dysfunctional upbringing. they even show us that her one other friend CANONICALLY GIVEN, andrea, lied to her and betrayed her. she just doesn't want to see it. we also see her, quite regularly, show a form of disappointment with this highly idealized concept of supergirl. she moved to national city for her. does quite a lot to get her attention and impress her. and then still believes that supergirl doesn't trust her, that she can't move past her last name. "never meet your heroes." i think maybe denial might stop her from thinking her only friend in national city and second in her life (maybe third if you cound sam) would be SO duplicitous for four years, even if lena did see all the signs (the most egregious of which to me was Supergirl SAYING HER NAME WAS KARA!) it's just extremely difficult for me to believe that a smart woman like cat grant would figure it out but not lena, so it really leaves the only explanation is emotional for lena, which sort of tracks (but not really.)
we know the show dragged it out for years because it was the most important (and only) emotional element to the show, which to me is a critique of how little they managed to build for kara than anything reasonable about lena being unable to see it. lena "finding out" was always going to be a seasonal arc, but they kept pushing it off while failing to make us care about anything else in the plot. then it's this massive amount of time that's passed but a genius hasn't guessed, but EVERYONE ON THE SHOW INCLUDING CHILDREN, have guessed kara is supergirl. it was never going to make sense. what i would've fundamentally done differently is known how to write a la ali adler in season 1 and given us real conflict, stakes, character development, etc. for kara that didn't weight her conflict with lena SO heavily that it had to be drawn out until the show was literally ending.

Kara Danvers
52% Lena Luthor (Supercorp.) By now, if you know, you know... *I apparently had A LOT of thoughts about the rest of Kara's ships so read under the cut at your own risk*
16% Diana Prince (an inferior ship claimed Superwonder long ago so I don't know what their ship name is.) This works for me in Dark Knights of Steel or primarily in a world where Kara is as old or older than she was on the Supergirl series. They compliment each other very well. Diana is more graceful, whereas Kara is more nerdy. Diana is more knowledgeable about art and history whereas Kara is better with math and science. They both have frustrations with the way humans are on Earth compared to the homes they came from but still believe in them and believe in protecting them. They both have pains associated with them leaving their homes and are fiercely loyal to their new homes and loved ones. They both believe in hope, help and compassion. They're two people who could be immortal and find solace with one another as time goes on. They're also both beautiful and could crush a sequoia between their thighs. If you're not sold on Kara/Diana, please give them a shot and read this...it's so lovely.
12% Sam Arias (Superreign.) For starters, let me address what I believe to be a misconception among Supergirl fans. When Lena stayed with Sam during 3x05 and was seen wearing a National City University sweatshirt, I believe that sweatshirt was Sam's and not Kara's. Lena went to MIT and even though Kara visited Lena at Sam's place, it made more sense to me that Sam provided Lena with one of her sweatshirts than Kara bringing one of Kara's sweatshirts from her own apartment for Lena. Thus the natural conclusion would be that Sam ALSO went to National City University. Do I think this lore implication brought about the sweater was an unintentional byproduct of the production crew having to be conservative with their budget (or maybe just lazy)? Perhaps, but it's what I believe nonetheless. Thus, we could've had Kara and Sam as college classmates, possibly even college girlfriends. I like that idea, especially since Kara and Sam would both go on to have a relationship with Lena, respectively, which would make for that messy, "queer women in a friend group all dating each other/a lot of the same women" rep that was missing from the show. I don't care for it when DC emphasizes Kryptonians having to be with other strong beings as if that hasn't been an issue for Clark and Lois in their many decades together...but if they're gonna do it, why not do it with a "friends to lovers to enemies but only when your evil alter ego takes control of your body?" The CW really rushed the development of their friendship (the way they rushed a lot of things) but the chemistry was there and I think it could've been enhanced later on with them bonding over them both being from Krypton. I think the Reign storyline could've been better and more impactful had Kara dated Sam and was actively trying to save her in a way that the Kara-Rhea-M*n El storyline fell flat. I also really like the two of them together in AU's where Lena is with Alex, it just fits. But most importantly and to put it very simply: they're both very pretty, super strong women that should've boned and maybe leveled a mountain in the process. If you want to give them a chance, admittedly I have some bias in recommending this but I think this is an excellent Kara/Sam fic (warning: contents are spicy), and this short follow up is just neat.
10% Andrea (Superrojas.) Andrea was the perfect amount of snide and bossy towards Kara yet thirsty for her and Supergirl. Kara was the right amount of wanting to believe the best in Andrea even when she challenged and irritated her while also looking at her like she wanted to do unspeakable things to Andrea in her office. It's what I imagine Superc*ts felt about Cat Grant except Andrea was actually hot and they had actual, spicy chemistry. 2% Imra Adreen (Supersaturn.) Listen...I hate the Legion of Superheroes. A few of its members are cool, but I've never liked the Legion as a whole. If DC is going to keep insisting on pairing Kara with one of its members in various media, I'd rather they give Kara a Legionnaire girlfriend. My hatred for M*n El I've made abundantly clear over the years so I'm not going to delve into that again right now. As for Brainy, I have absolutely nothing against the character. However, twice now I've had to watch Kara abandon Clark and the present to go live in the future with a boy she just met and in both instances, it never sat well with me and the episode/movie was terrible overall. More importantly, if we're going to be doing the whole "Kara's cousin falls in love with a family member of a big Superman villain who's nothing like them" trope, Supercorp is far and away the superior option. I love Brainy on the Supergirl show but he and Kara only ever gave off bro vibes on that and he's so much better with Nia than any Brainiac ever was with Kara that I never want to see him paired with anyone else. Back to why I like Imra though. In the comics universe, she's a cool character that I feel isn't used well or enough. I don't think a relationship with Kara would solve all of Imra's underutilization issues but it wouldn't hurt either. I don't have a problem with Kara going to the future; it's her staying there that bothers me. It wouldn't be an endgame but Imra would be one of the better matches for a first relationship for Kara. On the show, she's a cool character, she's very pretty and like most pretty women on the show, she looked at Kara like she wanted to be eaten up by her had good chemistry with Kara. The idea of Kara allowing a telepathic character into her mind during an intimate moment also appeals to me (while some DC media puts an unnecessary, weird amount of emphasis on Kryptonians having to be careful with their sex lives, a telepath being able to reassure Kara's anxieties and tell her "it's okay, you can let go" is a spicy good moment I'd like to read more of. Bonus: M*n El getting Mako-ed in a Korrasami situation (he dates two women who end up dating each other) would've been less than a quarter of what he deserved (no disrespect to Mako.)
2% Kate Kane (Kanvers I believe it's called.) Look...I've never been a fan of Ruby Rose. However, Kara was so freaking gay every time she interacted with Kate. Similar to how Lena should've gotten to bang the hot bartender Peggy in Ireland Newfoundland, Kara should've hooked up with the lesbian superhero she was totally flirting with, whether it was a one night stand during Elseworlds or them seeking a moment of relief among all the grief that was Crisis. If they'd let Kara be bisexual, then maybe she wouldn't have gone the last four seasons of the show without so much as a single kiss. Regardless, I just mentally picture Wallis Day instead of the other actress and it's a fun little ship.
2% Nia Nal (Superdreamer.) This one isn't necessarily about the show, though I do I think they could've been cute on the show IF Nia hadn't started out as Kara's protégé. Mentor-mentee relationships are so not my jam. However, a pairing between two variants of them where they weren't mentor-mentee could've been cool. Their comic book versions both having zipper jackets as part of their outfits also once struck me as an idea for a spicy fic that I'll never write.
2% Sara Lance (Supercanary.) The Danvers/Lance hook up that should've been. 1% Jimmy Olsen (Karolsen.) I do vastly prefer Kara with women but they still deserved better. They weren't my OTP in the first season but they were cute and I had hoped that with more time and development, they would get better the way Barry & Iris did on The Flash. (Important to note: I NEVER shipped Snowbarry (ew), I always liked Iris, I just don't think they had worked out what to do with her and her chemistry with Barry in that first season...it improved so much as time went on.) Unfortunately for Karolsen, that never happened and the show was so much worse for it.
1% Siobahn Smythe (Superbanshee.) Fun for some frenemies with benefits in Season 1 or "they were roommates" in the comics. Honorable mention: Lucy Lane. "Hell, I want to date her" was a biconic moment for Kara but I really liked Kara's other ships more and I prefer Lucy with Alex.
Send me ANY character and I'll tell you who I ship them with!

A Christmas Miracle-Chapter 1
Fandom: Supergirl
Characters: Lena Luthor, Kara Danvers, Ruby Arias, Santa Claus, Streaky the cat
Summary: After her last two breakups, Lena doesn't think there is love out there for her. However, will Ruby's wish to Santa make Lena a believer in miracles?
Lena stood in line scrolling throw her email on her phone. She sighed because she had finished all of her work emails and was bored out of her mind. She looked down next to her and saw her six-year-old niece Ruby still jumping up and down full of energy. They have been waiting in line for over an hour to see Santa. She was honestly surprised that she had this level of enthusiasm. When she was her age, she would have thrown a fit. However, Ruby had been the perfect example of patience and positivity. It caused Lena to smile. She wished that she had that level of positivity. With Lex trying to kill her constantly or trying to take over her company, she honestly was surprised she hadn’t gone insane. If it wasn’t for Ruby, Ruby's mom Sam, and Lena’s stepmother Lillian, she probably would have.
Lena was jolted out of her thoughts when she heard Ruby scream, “It’s our turn, Auntie Lena!”
Lena looked up to see Ruby sprinting to Santa’s lap. Lena chuckled and quickly followed.
Santa pulled Ruby up on his lap and asked, “What is your name, dear child?”
Ruby beamed and said, “My name is Ruby!”
Santa smiled and said, “It is nice to meet you, Ruby. What kind of gifts are you looking forward to for Christmas.”
Ruby shook her head and said, “I don’t need you to bring me presents this year Santa.”
Santa frowned and asked, “You don’t?”
Ruby shook her head and said, “I need your help with something very important.”
Lena was startled. She never thought that she would see the day that Ruby would forgo presents. She was quite curious about what she considered more important than a Christmas gift.
Santa looked at her quizzically, “Okay, what problem are you having?”
Ruby turned to Lena, pointed, and said, “I need a miracle. My Auntie Lena needs help.”
Lena looked baffled and said, “Ruby, I don’t need any help.”
Ruby turned to Santa with a worried look on her face and said, “She is lying. She thinks that love doesn’t exist. I need to make her believe again.”
Lena chuckled nervously and said, “Ruby that isn’t true. I believe that love exists. I love you, your mommy, and your grandma Lillian very much.”
Ruby rolled her eyes at her. She turned back to Santa and said, “She’s nervous because she knows that is not what I mean. She doesn’t believe in finding true love anymore. Auntie Lena is awesome and deserves the best true love in the entire world.”
Lena started rubbing the back of her neck and laughing nervously.
“Ruby, I have taught you that you don’t need to be in a relationship to have a successful life.”
Ruby pouted at her and said, “You are sad all the time now since Andrea left. When I sleep over at your apartment, I hear you cry in your room at night wishing she would come back.” She turned to Santa and said, “Please don’t bring her back into her life. My mom said that she is a bad word, but it does rhyme with witch.”
Santa tried to stifle a chuckle. Lena looked at both of them mortified. She always thought she hid her emotions well around Ruby, but clearly she was wrong. Her last two relationships nearly destroyed her. When she was in college, she had dated Jack for 4 years. She thought that her relationship with him was going well until he bailed. Stated that being around her was a hazard. By that point, Lex had tried to kill her three times. The third time Jack took a bullet that was meant for her that put him in the hospital for three months. She was devastated that he broke up with her, but at least she understood it. Being with her was a hazard, and while she was willing to be his ride or die, she understood him not feeling the same way.
Lena stayed single after that for two years until she met Andrea. She was a force of nature that swept her off her feet. She constantly surprised her with trips, flowers, chocolates, and love notes. She felt so loved and spoiled. Lena wanted to spend the rest of her life with her and often was scared that it was too good to be true. And it was. A couple of months ago, a hysterical woman broke into her building demanding to see her claiming Lena stole her wife and destroyed their family. Lena thought the lady was nuts until she had her private investigator do some digging and found out that Andrea not only was married but had five kids. She was devastated. What made matters worse was that Andrea’s wife sold her story to a popular tabloid. Now Lena not only gets blamed for Lex’s shenanigans but she is considered a homewrecker too. As much as she hated Andrea, she still wanted her back and that made her feel terrible. She wished that she could get over her. She barely left the house other than to go to work because it was one of the few things that kept her distracted. That and baking. Her house has been overflowing with baked treats like bread, muffins, and cakes since she left Andrea. Today was Lena’s first outing somewhere other than work in over three months. She only came because Sam agreed to go to a conference she had been avoiding hosted by Morgan Edge in Metropolis. She said the major thing Lena would have to do was to take Ruby to see Santa. Lena thought it would be a quick trip in and out. Now, Lena was regretting that decision.
Lena forced a smile and said, “I know that I was sad, but I am doing much now.”
Ruby pouted at her and said, “No you're not. Sit on Santa’s lap and tell him what you want in a true love.”
Lena sighed. She was starting to become frustrated and she didn’t want to draw attention to herself.
“Ruby, dear. I don’t need anyone for Christmas. I am fine. I promise you.”
“No you’re not!” shouted Ruby while becoming teary-eyed.
Lena was on the brink of tears. She knew that Ruby meant well, but this was all too much.”
“Ruby, if I sit on Santa’s lap and tell him my Christmas wish for a partner, will you drop this and never speak of this again.”
“Yes!” Ruby beamed.
Ruby hurried up and got off of Santa’s lap so Lena could sit down. Lena rolled her eyes and gradually went to sit on Santa’s lap.
“How does this work exactly?” muttered Lena.

A New Beginning: A Supergirl 6x20 Re-Write
Chapter Four: The Morning After
Like usual, Kara was the first one up. Since becoming Editor and Chief for Cat, she was constantly editing, re-formatting and tweaking articles so they could fit in the upcoming issue. Not wanting to wake Lena, she forewent making her cup of coffee, and got right to work.
Lucky for her, she had a genius, scientist girlfriend who was ridiculously good at picking up on what she needed.
“Morning, gorgeous.” Lena walks in with her bedhead that magically looked great, and her flannel PJs. “Your usual?”
“Please.” Kara grinned, quickly glancing up with a smile. “Wanted to squeeze in some light work before Esme, Alex and Kelly come over.”
“It still feels surreal that they chose me to be her Godmother.” She finished pouring the coffee, and began to work on their breakfast.
“I think you’re the perfect choice. And thinking back on how far your friendship with Alex has come…there’s no one better to protect her than you.” Kara grinned.
“You’re literally bulletproof.” Lena chuckled.
“Not the point…” Kara couldn’t help but laugh. “Alex went from not trusting you because of your last name, to putting all of her cards on the table; asking you to be the guardian of her daughter should something happen to her and Kelly.”
“It was a bit of a shock to hear that from the both of them.” Two plates in hand, she heads to the table. “But it was a good shock. And since getting to know Alex, that was one thing I always wanted, was her trust; to let her know she could count on me.”
“And you’ve proved yourself time and time again, Lena. Now, you have the family you've always wanted.” Kara assures as she takes a bite. “Mhmmm, my compliments to the chef,”
“Now you’re just fluffing my ego.” Lena retorted with her signature eyebrow raise.
“Ding Dong!” Alex pokes her head through the door. “Hope we’re not interrupting?”
“Not at all, come in.” Kara closes her laptop. “There she is!”
“Aunt Kara!” Esme runs directly to her, and climbs up on her lap. “I saw your interview with that Cat lady. We all, did.”
“Yeah? And what did you think?” She asked with an heir of curiosity.
“I thought it was so cool, and very brave. I think you’re going to help even more people now.” Esme proudly declares.
“Now I can officially start my day.” Kara gives Esme a warm chuckle accompanied with a hug. “You want to help me with my article? I sure could use some insight from the smartest person on Earth.” She smirked with a wink.
“Took you long enough to ask.” Esme smiled; for her age, her sarcasm was on par with Alex and Lena’s.
“Follow me.” Laptop in one hand, Esme’s hand in her other, she heads over to the couch and they get started.
“Those two are really attached at the hip, aren’t they?” Lena chuckled, chatting with Alex and Kelly in the kitchen.
“You should’ve seen Esme the night the interview aired. The second Kara appeared, she leaped off the couch to sit right in front of the tv.” Kelly grinned.
“She even shushed us.” Alex adds. “But in all honesty, I was so happy watching Kara finally finding herself. She’s been struggling with finding balance, and that night, she found it. And I’m even happier that Esme has someone to look up to, like Kara, to show her she doesn’t have to be separate things at different times. She can be whoever she wants.”
“Speaking of that interview, when I was watching it…Andrea was with me.” Lena revealed hesitantly.
“Talk about a plot twist.” Alex sets her mug of coffee down, ready to receive the story.
“How’d she take it?” Kelly tacks on.
“Surprisingly well. She also agreed glasses were a bad disguise. But she also looked back on all of the times she has mistreated Kara, and I think she may actually be turning over a new leaf.” Lena gives a shrug that could be read as both doubtful and hopeful.
“That’s good at least. I know Kara tried really hard to get Andrea on her side. Hopefully their reconciliation goes okay.” Alex agreed.
“Hey, Sorry to interrupt. Cat just called. I have to go in to give her what I have. Please, hang out as long as you three are able to stay.” With a swoosh of her coat, she also grabbed her bag. “And I will see you later for date night.” Kara had no problem with giving Lena a big smooch in front of Alex, Kelly and Esme.
Lena, rendered speechless, simply blushes.
“Bye guys!” Kara waves shutting the door
“I knew there was something.” Alex smirked. “I could tell there was some sort of magnetic pull the day we got Kara back.
“When did you two become…” Kelly began to ask.
“Official? At the wedding. But an interruption kinda ruined the moment. So, last night I started to tell her how I felt, and Kara being Kara…she knew. And she felt the same way.”
“Does that mean you and Aunt Kara are girlfriends now?” Esme asked. “Because it’s about time. The way she talks about you, it’s like a real life Disney movie.”
“And as you can see, Esme is your biggest supporter.” Kelly let’s out a belly laugh.
Lena’s blush didn’t go away. Not only was is that “in love glow”, there was something else she wasn’t saying.
“Lena, I know that look. What are you hiding?” Alex analyzed her body language.
Ta-Da! Chapter 4 has arrived! Tell me what you think.

Writing asks: 8, 21, 31, 39
Ooh thank you for these!
8. How slow is a slow burn?
-sooo I am not of the old school mentality that a slow burn has to be so slow you want to throw your phone out the window (mostly bc that sometimes leads to such contrived, ooc plots that I just can’t read it) or where they only get together at the very end of a long multi-chapter arc (mostly bc I love writing characters being together and figuring their shit out nearly as much as I love writing getting them to the point where they can admit that’s something they might want). I tend to think a slow burn qualifies as slow if we can feel the progression from a genuine resistance (whether in a trope-y enemies to lovers way or in a more complicated situational dynamic like boss-employee where shit has to get worked out first) to that final moment of caving. If a work can make me deeply feel the temporal drag and the longing and the pining that all take time to resolve then I’m down to go along with a slow burn tag
21. Can you accurately predict how long your fics are going to be? If you can, what’s your secret?
-hah! If I have a word count in front of me, I can plan a fic to fit it and generally land right about where it should be thanks to writing for a living where I know what x number of words looks and feels like. BUT if I’m just spitballing ideas and start throwing words at the page, if it’s gonna be more than 3-5k words, I have no idea until I’m halfway or more in exactly how many chapters it’ll take me to get to an ending I feel good about
31. What was the most difficult fic for you to write (but in the end you made it)?
-Hmm this is a great question! The one that comes to mind is the one fic I’ve put on hiatus, so that doesn’t qualify. But of finished fics, it might be a little Grace and Frankie one shot, Absolution. It’s one I haven’t reread since posting it so I have no idea how it holds up, and it was one of the first fics I wrote after years of writing and reading nothing but the supergirl universe. It’s written from Grace’s perspective and deals heavily with her relationship to Catholicism and how that inflects a lot of the ways she thinks—about her body, the kinds of permission she gives herself, her relationships, her desires, her pleasures (both denied and guiltily indulged). It tapped into a lot of the ways Grace resonates for and with me, so it was one that I think I felt more vulnerable than usual posting
39. Wildest AU scenario you have written?
-Ooh I’ve done SO many in the supergirl fandom haha but wildest would probably be the 19th C. spiritualism AU, Queen of All Mediums, featuring Cat Grant as a medium and Kara as her fake ghost

Haha, yeah, seems like it😅🙈 Again, sorry!🙈 (Btw, I told LW this a bunch of times, but not sure if I told ever you, so if I ever DO get annoying on sth, feel free to just tell me to shut up😂🙈)
Yuup, she sucks big time... Now she even started erasing my messages to you😖😫😰😭
12k People??😶😶 What the heck, that's like just two streets...Okay, I'm exxagerating, but wow, that's really not a lot😅😅🙈 Well then it really is a miracle🙈🙈😅
Ah yes, understandably, tho the stressful exam seasons are really not fun for anyone ever😅
Ohh, if it made me able to writw like Stephen King, I wouldn't even think twice before running off to get possessed😉😁🤣
Eh, wait, what? Who's "they"? 😅🙈
HAHAHAHAHA okay, cake hole🤣 Hmm, yum, cake😋
Dunno, probably?😂 just thought it was funny you started listing curses too cause it made me think of that which then made me read your curses to the rhythm of drums😂😂🙈🤷🏻‍♀️
👍🏻😂
...They made him make Nia breakfast and try to be the perfect bf?🤨 Okay, yeah, that just screams of that meme with the "Can I copy your homework? Sure, just change it a bit"😅🤦🏻‍♀️ And well, glad about him not be in Kara's LI but disregarding his intellect seems pretty ridiculous considering it's a mjaor part of his character😅🤦🏻‍♀️🤦🏻‍♀️🙈
Hm, true, or that, tho that'd be even worse cause what the heck, the show is literally titled after Kara🤦🏻‍♀️🤦🏻‍♀️😅
She should have just gotten to be Kara Zor-el, too, NOT just Kara Danvers, Supergirl, Superman 2.0😅🙈😖
I love the idea🤣🤣 Ohh, the others as teacher too? Sounds great!😍 Tho, Lex as headmaster? Oh god, the poor kids😅🙈 Well, Sam could also be the Economics teacher?🤔 William maybe Creative writing (Oh, or Nia could be this)?🤔🤔  The idea really sounds like fun tho!😁  I'm still laughing at bad pick-up lines🤣🤣🙈 Btw, I just realized Mon could totally quote Shakespeare's "the brightness of her eyes would shame those stars" to Kara without it being too weird in this AU🤣🤣 Oh, oh, or either could compare the two of them to the stylistic device "antithesis"🤣  Oh, oh, or or compare their feelings to Schroedinger's cat🤣🤣 (Sorry, my brain is really running off on its own the moment I think of this AU and pick-up lines😅😅)
Oh god, Cat and Max fighting over Supergirl and Valor is very amusing but also kinda horrifying 😅 But awww, that's a good solution on Kara and Mon's part🤣🤣😂😂😁
Still, sorry!🙈🙈
PS: Yeah... I suppose my answer to your question might soon change to "not breathing anymore"😅😉😂🙈
PS2: Yess, exactly that look!😍😍 It just fit him perfectly 🤷🏻‍♀️😂🙈 Well, he's definitely good-looking,  that we can agree on😂🤷🏻‍♀️ Lucky both dir having found the "perfect partner at game night" who's also aesthetically pleasing in each other😉😁
You too!😊
XXX
And vice versa!
Seriously, the TUMBLR should chill the hell out :/
...two str... where the fuck do you live? And I lied a little, becasue my town yes, has 12k citizens, but I live 1.5 km away form it, where we have 10 houses and like 35 people living here xD But I have forest 50 meters away, no crowds, animals, no shops and peace and quiet (minus fucking birds screaming HELLO at freaking 5am every morning) xD
Yeah, exams suck, no arguments here.
...go away. APAGE
Priests. You know teh old dudes who are wearing dresses, pink color and laces, usually have no families and say how real men should behave.
Cakes are awesomeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee and now i want some.
...God, what am I now? A rap songs writer? D:
Yes, they fucking did and I was soooooooo ANNOYED. Like, create some original love story for your characters, without stealing the shit, ok? The same went for William who baked cake and cookies for Kara... like.... ugh, fuck you writers.
I lost whole respect for him when he used the Lena's advice for "putting feelings into boxes". Jesus Christ, they loved to lick her ass and made her corrupt every character with her bullshit
Ohh, it was not changed to Luthorgirl in the end??? *sarcasm*
Her story should have been her journey for allowing herself to be both, balancing her two identities, not throing away her heritage and become humanity's ass kisser while throwing away her alien side. The way they handled her getting back her mom and dad and then just be like BYEEEEEEE, was a blasphemy and no can change my mind.
Yes, Lex as a headmaster becasue we need dramas and villains and we can always kick him out :P the same goes for Lobotomizer. Lol, Kara woul die from laughter after hearing it.
I KNOW! It could be hilarious. Imagine Max suspiciously asking Mon-El where he was, because there was some eartquake and he couldn't have contacted him and Mon-El being a little frustrated and saying he was there, checking if someone needed help and in reality yes, he was there with Kara and being the main cause of the earthqueke, because YA KNOW, superaliens sex xDDDDD
Dooooooooooooooooooon't beeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee, that's life on tumblr xD
PS HUE HUE HUE
PS 2 I'm just happy they found each other and both are happy and hot, becasue this is what they deserve <3
Likewise! And I'm going to be a puddle of tears, because Rafa Nadal is playing the final on Roland Garros and no matter how it will end I will cry no matter what xD
Have a nice Sunday!

Headcanons to all my baby danvers fics!
- Being an adopted alien, like Kara. Except your power allow you to control fire, vibrations, and shockwaves. Also flying and enhanced senses, strength and speed. Shapeshifting, but the downside to that is that it can be quite painful.
- Kara likes to roughhouse with you because she can. She likes that you can keep up with her. However, you guys have to do it outside. Eliza was furious the first time you did it because you both destroyed the living room.
- Growing up, Alex got insecure a lot because she had two superpowered younger sisters. But she got over it because you both are basically puppies. She would beat up anyone who messed with you guys.
- There was one time Alex found you staring at an electric can opener because you didn’t know how to use it. You almost gave up and were going to simply bite through the can when Alex showed you how to use it. After that, you went to her for help on everything.
- While you didn’t wear glasses like Kare because you didn’t have X-ray vision, you did wear discrete noise cancelling earbuds because your hearing would often got overwhelming. More so than Kara’s. But after a while, you got the hang of it and didn’t have to wear them anymore.
- Listening to your sisters heart beats. You don’t know why, but that is what often calmed you down.
-When your sisters left for national city, you were right behind them. You didn’t want to be without them and they didn’t want to be without you. You moved into Kara’s apartment because she wanted to have you close. Cuddles were an almost nightly thing before you both went to bed.
- Working at Catco with Kara as well. You had dabbled in photography as kid and Cat Grant hired you on the spot after looking at your portfolio. Which left you surprised.
- When Alex’s plan ended up going down, you saved it with Kara. The two of you ended up getting an ear full but the both of you agreed that it was something you wanted to continue.
- Originally, you were against telling Winn, but Kara gave you puppy eyes and you broke. You snorted when he thought she was a lesbian. Kara looked at you and you both simply walked over the edge of the roof. You felt bad for almost giving Winn a heart attack.
- You weren’t Kryptonian so your suit didn’t have the House of El symbol. Your suit was black with blue accents (much like alex’s suit.) Your cape was black on top but the underside was blue as well.
- Cat Grant named you Supernova. It was well known that you had no relation to the Kryptonians, but you were always partnered with Supergirl so Cat wanted you guys to have some kind of link to your names. It was fitting because you would set your hands on fire when you fought. Sprinkle in the small quakes and vibrations, it was a perfect name.
- When you found out Alex worked at the DEO, you were hurt. more so than Kara. You and Alex would always tell each other everything. But, after a while, you understood. She was working at a top secret organization. She couldn’t exactly tell you that.
- When Alex came out to you as a lesbian, you came out to her as one as well. The both of you sat in awkward silence for a monet before you started laughing. You pulled her into a hug then went off to tell Kara.
- Kara was confused at first but totally supportive.
- When you met Maggie, you smiled and thought she was good for your sister. She started calling Kara “Little Danvers” and you “Baby Danvers” Mush you yours and Kara’s dismay.
- You weren’t as invincible as Kara. While bullets didn’t hurt you, missiles and alien weapons could cause severe injuries.
- When you were hurt, it was full stop for your sisters. They dropped everything to make sure you got better. If it was really bad, they’d panic and J’onn would have to force them out of the room, even though he himself was worried.
- The Superfriends were also super protective of you. At the alien dive bar one night, you were at the counter waiting for the drinks when a guy came up to you and started flirting with you. He placed a hand on your thigh and you looked over at your friends silently panicking. You wanted to throw him across the bar but you knew you’d get into trouble.
- Alex slammed him against the bar with his arm pinned behind his back and James dragged him and threw him outside. Maggie threatened to have him arrested while Kara and Winn made sure you were alright.
- When you met Lena ( I love supercorp, but I love the B!DxLena ship a lot.) The whole world stopped. Massive gay panic ensued.
- Kara and Alex would tease you non stop about your crush on her.
-They invited her to game night and eventually you worked up the courage to ask her out. She was very shocked to say the least.
-After a long week, you and your sisters would have a sisters night. You would sprawl across their laps and Alex would run her hands through your hair. Kara using your stomach as a place to sit her potstickers on. You’d sigh contently and fall asleep to Wizard of Oz.

“I’m so sorry, Lena,” A harsh cough followed the words and Lena felt her eyes begin to fill with water. She was kneeling in the broken streets of National City at Kara’s sighed, mindless of the destruction around them as the injured woman before her absorbed all of her attention.
“Hold on, Kara, just a few more minutes.” Lena found Kara’s bloody, shaking hand and grasped it with her own. Kara gave her a watery smile.
“We could’ve had so much time if I hadn’t been so scared.” There’s a strong current of regret in her tone and Lena feels as if she can’t breathe as she pulls Kara’s hand to her lips and presses a kiss against dirty knuckles.
“We’ll have time now, darling. All the time in the world.”
“I thought we promised not to lie to each other anymore.”
A long, uncomfortable pause followed. Kara’s breath grows more shallow by the second, but her eyes remain the same. The deep blue of her iris shines with that same adoration that Lena had always seen in them, and always felt unworthy of. Kara lifted the hand that Lena wasn’t holding on to desperately, ignoring the way her limbs trembled, to carefully cup Lena’s cheek.
This is the end. They both know it.
“No, Kara, please,” Lena can hear the desperation in her voice but ignored it just as resolutely as she ignored the tears falling from her eyes. Tears that Kara barely had the strength to gently brush away. “I can’t lose you again.”
“You never lost me, Lena, not for a single second.” The conviction in Kara’s voice is broken by the blood that slips past her lips as a cough tears through her throat. She collapses back against the broken asphalt after the fit subsides, landing on uneven ground with a pained groan. “I’ve always been yours, even when I wasn’t.”
The noise around them barely registers in Lena’s mind. The battle had been over for a few minutes at least, but Lena had paid no attention to the chaos around them. Kara, just as she had done since the day they met, commanded all of Lena’s attention. It isn’t until Kara coughs again that Lena realizes that she hadn’t been unconsciously blocking out anything going around them.
Kara’s cough echoes of the wreckage of a ruined city around them. If Lena had the strength to pull her gaze away from Kara’s slowly dimming eyes, she would have seen the veritable host of people around them falling to their knees as the consequences of this final battle hit home. They won, yes, but none of them thought that the cost would be so high.
Lena is dimly aware of another person settling on the other side of Kara, taking her hand and nearly gasping out Kara’s name in a choked cry. Even with the addition of Alex with them, Lena doesn’t tear her eyes away from Kara.
“I know, darling,” Lena grips Kara’s trembling hand tighter, wrapping both of her own around it and pressing a kiss to Kara’s knuckles again. “I think I always have. I should have said something sooner.”
“Better late than never,” Kara cracked a smile and just for a second, Lena could believe that she wasn’t watching the love of her life die right before her eyes. “Promise me something?”
“Anything.”
“Don’t blame yourself, for any of it.”
“Kara-”
“Promise me, Lena. None of this is your fault, or mine. It happened, and it sucks.” Kara smiled again as Lena released a rueful chuckle. “But you can’t let this stop you. Promise me that you won’t give up.”
“I promise Kara,” Lena leans over and seals her promise with a trembling kiss pressed to Kara’s forehead.
“Good.” Kara’s strength left her completely, her head fell to the ground and if not for Lena’s grip on her hand, the same would have been true of it as well. “Remember, I am always yours. Even when I’m not.”
Kara turns her head then, to Alex who sits on her left. Words are spoken by both of them but Lena doesn’t hear them. She can’t hear anything over the high pitched sound ringing in her ears and Kara’s last words playing on a loop in her mind.
They should have had so much more time. They should have had years to be together, truly together. Years without lies and secrets pulling them apart. Years of light and laughter and love, so much love that it would be bursting out of them. The kind of love that couldn’t be contained. They should have had it all but now they only had minutes.
They only have minutes and Kara doesn’t know how Lena feels. A sudden panic seizes Lena as she realizes that minutes are quickly receding into seconds and Kaa still doesn’t know.
“Kara,” even to her own ears, Lena’s voice sounds so far away. “Kara, I love you.”
There’s no ignoring the tears now, they fall from Lena’s eyes unbidden. But Kara is smiling at Lena, that special, bright smile that always made Lena feel like she was the one who could fly.
Kara’s smile remains as her eyes fall closed and her body goes limp. Kara’s smile remains as she exhales, whispering Lena’s name with her last breath.
Supergirl dies a hero, mourned and celebrated by many.
Kara Danvers dies to the sound of her sister crying beside her.
Kara Zor-El dies smiling in the embrace of the woman she loves most.
Lena woke up feeling as if that last image of Kara’s smile had been burned into her retinas. The dream, memory, ends in the same place it always does, the moment before the realization of what she had just witnessed sinks in. Lena wakes with soul crushing despair settling deep in her chest so that her breath in a new day is little more than a broken sob. It takes a few minutes for Lena to gather herself enough to climb out of bed and reach for her phone. The move is calculated. Lena knows that if she had reached for her phone first, she wouldn’t have gotten out of bed.
Every other day, Lena had been able to push herself through it. She could almost pretend that everything was normal, until she caught herself trying to call Kara and invite her to lunch. Even after two weeks, Lena’s first instinct was still to call Kara. The hope that maybe the dream had been a nightmare rather than a memory and Kara would answer when she called had been all that kept Lena going for the past 14 days.
The day of Kara’s funeral had pulled that hope to a crashing halt.
There had been a service for Supergirl the day before. It felt like all of National City had been there, human and alien alike. All the heroes that Kara had worked with over the years were there, a few of them people that Lena had only met briefly before the wave of dark matter destroyed all of their worlds. The Flash had a few words to say. Cat Grant had barely held her tears in. Superman openly cried as he said goodbye to his last blood relative. Lena had watched it all with a blank expression, Alex’s hand in hers.
Lena had made her way to Midvale on her own and was one of the last to arrive at Kara’s childhood home. Eliza had greeted her with a hug and a far too knowing look. Lena had slept in Kara’s bed and refused to cry until she was sure that no one would hear her.
Now, Lena pulled on the dark outfit she had selected the night before and made her way downstairs. Alex and Eliza met her at the bottom of the stairs and led her to where Clark and Lois were standing with J’onn. Eliza pulled Lena into another hug while Lois looked as if she was the only one in the room who could understand Lena’s pain. Everyone was treating Lena like she was Kara’s widow and Lena wasn’t sure she would ever recover from that.
She had Kara had never been together. They hadn’t gone on dates or celebrated anniversaries. They’d never even kissed and yet Lena still felt like a piece of her heart had been broken beyond repair. She wasn’t Kara’s widow but she was Kara’s someday and that was somehow worse.
How could Lena mourn what she’d never had in the first place?
Kara’s funeral had been short. She wouldn’t have wanted all of her friends and family to spend hours crying over her. Kara had been a ray of sunshine, a becon of joy. Although tears were shed, everyone wanted to follow Kara’s wishes so it soon turned to a memorial rather than a funeral. As everyone had been distracted by Alex’s story of the first time Kara saved her, Lena didn’t think anyone would notice when she stepped onto the back patio. She nearly jumped in surprise when a masculine voice called her name.
“Sorry,” Clark said as he stepped up beside her. Lena hummed her acceptance of the apology but didn’t say a word.
They stood together in silence for a few minutes. If it had been any other time, Lena might have made a joke about a Super and a Luthor but it didn’t feel right with her Super missing. Eventually, Lena can see Clark’s shoulders sag and knows that the silence is about to be broken.
“She was always so much stronger than me.” Clark speaks in a low, haunted voice. “I’ll never be able to thank her for righting my worst wrong.”
There’s a heavy set to his shoulders and a distant glint in his eyes that makes Lena feel foolish for forgetting where all this conflict had started. Lex had killed Kara, but it was Clark that turned Lex into a staunch believer in the superiority of man. It was Clark who faced Lex time and time again. CLark who wasnt strong enough to deal the blow that would have ended all of this conflict. It was Clark’s weakness that had pushed Kara into that position, and Clark’s cowardice that cost Kara her life.
The urge to hate Clark for his inaction is strong, so strong it makes Lena’s stomach clench and her hands tremble. It would be all too easy to blame Clark for losing Kara, but Lena knows that it wouldn’t be fair to him. There’s plenty of blame to go around but Clark doesn’t truthfully deserve any of it. Lex does. For targeting Kara and dealing the fatal blow, but most of them blame falls on Lena herself. For her own war against Supergirl, for the experiments that gave Lex his powers, for not being strong enough to defeat him on her own.
Kara would still be with them if not for Lena’s failures.
“But there is something I can do for her, if you’re willing to help me.”
It takes a moment for Lena to realize that Clark’s statement had been a request. She looks at him, blinking in askance.
“Follow me,” Clark, in a move that Lena would never have expected to come from him, gently took Lena’s hand into his own and guided her down the porch steps towards the beach. Agreeing to Clark’s request that she wait there for a moment, Lena tries to settle her nerves. When Clark returns, Lena knows that there is nothing she could have done to prepare herself.
Clark touches down gently a few feet away from Lena and in the space between them hovers a sleek, grey pod. The black surface on the outside fades to clear and suddenly Lena can see Kara.
She looks peaceful in death, Lena thinks, like she finally dropped all the weight she had been carrying for so long.
“On Krypton, when a woman died,” Clark swallows roughly. “It was tradition for the oldest female member of the House to speak Rao’s blessing over them.”
Clark meets Lena’s gaze evenly.
“I know that would be Eliza here, or Alura if she had come, but I also know that Kara would have wanted it to be you.”
“Clark,” Lena hesitated, “Kal, I don’t know.”
“I know what you mean to her. Meant.” Even though they had been doing so all day, hearing Kara referred to in the past tense hurt deeply and Lena felt the tears welling for what must have been the thousandth time.
“Okay,” Lena agreed with a shaky nod. Clark handed her a small piece of paper from his pocket and then turned his gaze to the pod containing Kara’s still form.”
“Whenever you’re ready.”
Lena was sure that she would never be ready to say goodbye to Kara but there was no sense in waiting. Voice thick with tears and barely above a whisper, Lena began to read.
“You have been the sun of our lives. Our prayers will be the sun that lights your way on the journey home. We will remember you in every dawn and await the night we join you in the sky. Rao’s will be done.”
They stood there for a moment with only the sound of the waves crashing against the beach breaking the still air. Then, with a heavy breath like he was steeling himself for the hardest moment of his life, Clark lifted the casket into the air with him. A moment later, Kara returned to the stars that had brought her home.
Clark returned to the Danver’s household while Lena remained on the beach by herself. There was a fleeting feeling of Lena wishing she had something to hold on to, a memento of Kara’s. The feeling faded only to be replaced with a much stronger wish to simply have Kara there with her. The feeling was strong that for a moment, Lena felt the soft, familiar warmth of Kara’s hand in her own, their fingers resting together easily. As time stretched on, Lena let herself be lost in the phantom feeling of what could have been, until the sound of a car door closing shattered the dream and brought Lena crashing back to reality.
A reality where Kara was gone.
Suddenly, the beach felt just as stifling as the house had been.
Realizing that her moment with the ghost of Kara’s memory was over, Lena turned to make her way back to the house.
Only Kara’s closest friends remained at the house. Clark, Lois, and Lucy were sitting together on the couch, the two normally argumentative sisters silent in their grief. Barry and Iris were curled together in a chair, Barry staring blankly ahead as Iris watched him in concern. Caitlin and Cisco sat together on the floor in front of Barry and Iris, their shoulders pressed together. Ava sat in the other chair with Sara leaning against her legs, her fingers idly wrapping a strand of Sara’s hair around and around. The other Legends must have gone back to the Waverider. Alex and Eliza sat together on the loveseat and made room between them for Lena.
It was odd, Lena decided as she took the seat provided for her, to be surrounded by so many heroic figures and not feel even the smallest amount of hope. The Kara shaped whole in the arrangement could not be ignored. No one said a word as Lena sat down and the silence was no less disturbing the longer it went on.
“It doesn’t seem right,” Cisco broke the silence with a sad voice. “The most powerful person we know.”
“The bravest and most caring, too,” Barry added just as softly. “She didn’t even ask for help.”
“You were all busy,” Alex shrugged slightly but Lena could see the tension in her jaw. “You all had your own villains to face and lives to live. She wouldn’t have disrupted that.”
“She wouldn’t put all of you in danger like that.” Lena’s voice was hoarse from disuse. Not counting her blessing of Kara at the beach, that was the longest sentence Lena had said in two weeks.
“I did, with the Dominators and Crisis,” Barry’s expression shone with guilt. “She answered every time.”
“She was like Oliver,” Sara said, leaning further into Ava as she spoke. “More of a hero than any of us will ever be.”
“All these powers, even time travel, and we still can’t save everyone.” Iris sighed and dropped her head onto Barry’s shoulder. Barry pressed a kiss against his wife’s forehead.
“We would if we could.” Barry said. “I’d go back in a second if we didn’t have to worry about another Flashpoint. An event like this is too big to go back and change.”
“Flashpoint?” Lena asked curiously. Alex looked at her with the smallest bit of surprise and a hint of question in her eyes.
“One of the first times I travelled back in time on purpose, to save my mom. I ended up changing everything,” Barry explained.
With everyone reluctant to leave, it took little prodding to get Barry to continue elaborating. A conversation about the difficulty of preserving the timeline arose between the members of team Flash and the two remaining Legends in the room. Lena listened with half an ear but her mind was stuck on the comment that had started this conversation.
It didn’t feel right without Kara in the room, not only in the sense that Lena personally felt as though she was missing an essential part of her being, but in the sense that something about all of this was fundamentally wrong. The only thing about Kara’s conflict with Lex was that Lex was gone. It doesn’t make sense for him to have taken Kara out with him, especially not without Kryptonite. Lena remembered the final blow in sharp detail. The beam that had exhausted Kara was golden, not green.
A comment about the natural order of time caught Lena’s attention and she pondered the implications of it. The natural order of time ensured that everyone was at the correct time and place, whenever that happened to be in the linear timeline of their own lives. Barry and the Legends are able to move through time as long as they don’t disrupt the natural time. There were few rules for time travel, but the most important was that one could not be in the exact same place and time as they had been before. A person cannot physically be in one specific time and place more than once.
But, there were ways to send other things through time. The Legends used a ship, and Barry had once sent a message back in time to himself, warning of things to come. The beginnings of an idea began to form in Lena’s mind. Physical time travel was limited, but that didn’t mean that other forms had the same limitations. Unfortunately, Lena was kept from following that rabbit any further down the hole by the group finally breaking apart for the night. Lena forced the questions and ideas from her mind until she returned to National City.

Congratulations for your 400🎉🎉 I would love to hear about your Jason and Kara headcanon❤️
Some Jaykara headcannons, in a completely random order.
Every couple has one member who can cook, and one who can't. Jason is the cook, and Kara will burn water. Call it an impatience thing, call it scatterbrain, call it whatever you want- Jason is the cook of the pair.
Jason has scary dog privilege, but not how people would assume. While he looks scary and intimidating outside of uniform, he’s dating/married to literal Supergirl. When she is stood beside or behind him in uniform, she becomes the scary dog. And no one would even dare try anything to him if he’s open, when she’s around.
Kara likes to leave little notes around the house for Jason to find when she has to be gone on long missions with Alex. He thinks it’s cute and secretly keeps all of them in a box under their bed. She doesn’t know this. And it will stay that way.
Jason has memorizes Kara’s nightly routine and has unintentionally fixed his whole bodily schedule to fit hers. He knows when she’s home before she even walks in the door, has food ready for them both, a bath running, and her favorite music playing so she can relax since her work is much more taxing than his vigilante work. Being a super is exhausting. She has noticed this about him. She will never stop telling Alex about it.
When Kara is having a bad day, Jason will go to Selina to ask her to bring over her hoard of cats and when Kara gets home she is immediately cuddle piled by cats and Jason. She does not move for the remainder of that night.
Kara will sometimes force Jason to stay in bed longer on his days off to cuddle since they have little to no time to ever spend alone together. She knows he can get out. She also knows he will not try.
Kara’s favourite thing about Jason is how, despite how much he claims he doesn’t do this, he will do anything to help kids he sees out on the streets. Something that’s brought them the blessing that is Boo-Gracie.
Alex and Jason keep track of who Kara agrees with during arguments. They use it as a sort of ‘who does she love more this week’ bragging contest. Maggie thinks it’s stupid. She also is the tally holder and judge.
People think Jason is the shotgun dad when it comes to his kids dating. Truth is though, neither he nor Kara are the ‘shotgun’ parent since they know if anyone hurts their kids heart, they’ll have to deal with aunts, uncles, and siblings first. That is if their kids don’t hurt their soon to be ex s/o first.
Jason is the shotgun uncle though.

Gloria, Jet-lags and Imps [6x11]
Tumblr media
Let’s jump right in:
Kinda love how Kara lamp-shaded addressed the fact she didn't tell the gang about her adventures in the PZ. She’s not wrong, tho.
...what do I want to say about Mxy using what's basically a well-known gay-anthem to tell his tale? I mean, it didn’t lead anywhere. The original song is about freeing oneself, liberation, stepping out of a (gone bad) relationship and moving on, stronger for it - empowerment. The only connection I could make, is that originally it was Nyxly’s aim to just do that (freeing herself and her kind from an oppressor), but in the way Mxy performed it, that part of the parallel was long over before he even reached the chorus. It’s also a popular Karaoke song, tho, so... he chose it because it’s catchy? I’ll try not to overthink it for now. At least, the Superfriend’s reactions were fun.
Nia exiting the elevator, "And what's this Old Stone?" I love it when ppl enter a room / situation and pick up on words that they couldn't have possibly heard. I think cinema sins ding such... Are we to assume, she dreamed Mxy's rendition of ‘I will survive’? Or is the elevator not sound-proof at all? (If it’s the latter, Nia later apparently telling Brainy “in private” between scenes / during the elevator ride about her Nyxly adventures, was a silly thing to do.)
So, "Jared" created the ring Old Stone to rule them all, it got shattered into the Paragons totems? Nyxly needs the totems and to get them she needs a crystal which also belonged to "Jared" - who happens to be Mxy's ancestor, which is why she needs Mxy / his blood, too.
I have one important and incredibly relevant question here, tho...
With the introduced imps and their names... Why’s dude named Jared of all things?!
Really, did I mishear that? If so, I’ll leave it as is and never edit, bc that would be hilarious in its own right 😋
...
Not sure what to make about Supergirl paraphrasing a Dirty Dancing quote.  "Nobody puts Mxy into a power crystal on my watch."  ...is he Baby now? (Seriously, though: Which of the writers thought that was a fitting quote to use in that particular context?)
...now, is the exposition section of the episode over yet?
Tumblr media
Sensitive Brainy sensed something was up with Nia. He can relate... Nia doubting Kara would understand, too, is ridiculous. But I get it... insecurities and all. But, I mean, just 5 minutes later Kara announces she wants to save Nyxly despite her wrongdoings. And yet Nia still remains convinced, Kara wouldn’t forgive her own personal mini-me... After having witnessed Kara forgiving Lena for a whole season of the writers being stupid messing up to the nth degree. But I digress, Lena’s Lena.
...how old is Nia meant to be again? Just asking out of completely unrelated curiosity.
Tumblr media
F*ck. They really went with NewFoundland...
Imma assume it was an executive choice after realizing they couldn’t find enough actors and actresses with a convincing Irish accent... maybe. Again, no offense to Newfoundland! Just... we got the insinuations of Ireland, not Newfoundland... And truthfully, when I think of magic, Ireland is an easy association. Whereas I only due to this whole debacle learned Newfoundland has Irish ancestry. So, okay, the show forced me to learn something new... I give ‘em that.
An easy journey, she said.
Lena's been off-screen for two whole episodes, Kara announcing at the beginning of ‘Dreamweaver’ [6x09] Lena being “back east” (at least insinuating Lena’s left the west-coast already), which span over at least one full day (feat. a scene at night), and ‘I still rise’ [6x10] at least another a whole day (the whole Nia’s mom back for a day deal). And, now, after at least 48 hours she barely just arrived.
Lemme check how long a regular plane would need to fly from California to NFL......... ... .. .. So... approx. 10 hours with at least one layover.
Yeah, using a private jet made it easier, but apparently also much, much slower...
Or, Lena randomly went some other places / did some sight-seeing in NFL before she decided to finally visit her mother’s hometown...  [Either that or the timelines don’t match up and Lena’s scenes are flashbacks of sorts.]
Tumblr media
Optimistic and relaxed Lena is a sight to behold. I rewound 3 times, just to enjoy it for as long as possible. We all knew it was going to be short-lived...
Let’s check off a few more items...
OMG, Kara hiding behind Alex at the mere sight of the PZ-projector broke my heart!  😢
"Elisabeth Walsh" is the new 'the one you shall not name'. ...poor Lena. 😭
Oh, so Mxy wants to be Patrick Swayze instead of Baby... gotcha.
...is this going anywhere?
KITTY!!! Okay, this must be the best opponent in the history of CWSG.
Despite the horrible CGI, SG using her heat-vision to project a laser-beam to distract the cat had me in (happy-) tears! 🤣
Tumblr media
Gotta love the civilians of National City quickly returning to business as usual once the giant cat is gone. Even the police officers looked rather chill...
Nyxly did look fabulous this episode ^^
Andrea being Lena's rock is both great and annoying. I can't fault Andrea. It's just, that we still have to see an on-screen interaction between Lena and Kara and that bugs the heck out of me. I can’t help it. I’m sorry, Andrea.
Nia: "...is my fault." Kara: "Nu, is MY fault!" J'onn: "Stop fighting, kids!" Space-dad has spoken.
Mxy used an LuthorCorp copy machine... and of cos it's faulty. It's not an L-Corp product.
Kara forgiving Nia came as a surprise to her... Oooookay. I mean, the show has been writing Kara a bit inconsistently the past two seasons... so, yeah, maybe being unsure which of her traits apply this week was not such a far stretch...
Tumblr media
Maybe it's the hair, but I wished, Florence was played by Alex Kingston.
So, not-Alex-Kingston shows Lena herself with a funny wig and tells her how her mother was still watching her...
If it wasn't for Katie's acting skills (I love her.) I would have already hit my head against the wall repeatedly. Something about these scenes had me constantly cringe and I made it through 5.5 seasons of this show already... Can’t quite put my finger on it, but it was highly distracting from the story that explained Lena’s mom was special even to another witch, where there was domestic abuse, and an accidental murder. Y’know, important stuff, deep-cutting stuff!
At least, poor widddle Lena got some closure there. Elisabeth was a good cookie. And filled with magic. And Lena’s gotta have that ‘spark’, too...
....so... Lena’s gonna stay in NFL for how much longer, to train becoming a witch?  Please, just hand her a how-to manual and send her back home, to figure it out on her own, please... (Yes, that would be horrible decision-making, but I need her back with the team!)
On to the finish line:
So... Mxy IS Nyxly's brother? Wait, that doesn’t sound right... then Nyxly would have the same blood... Did I miss something? Can someone explain, please? Or is he her ex, and that’s where his rendition of “I will survive” makes sense?
Hnn... I can't help, but think Kara's speech for Nyxly was 85% based on her experiences with Lena in s05.
Awww... he said "stronger together"... Mxy... I hope, you'll be okay!
Lena believes in magic now. And I absolutely love how Lena wants to science magic XD
...but apparently magic isn’t science that hasn’t been explained yet, but parallel... powers? concepts? ether strings?
Nyxly has a loyal henchman now. Which was a bit heavy-handed. Took way too much of screen-time, so it better leads to something interesting.
And Kara is on a warpath now. Wooooot! Girl’s got enough.
...what else?
Did I miss a third Patrick Swayze hint / quote / mention?  I learned, these things come in threes... Y’know, basic writing rules...
I guess, for once the episode title was meant to be taken literally, Mxy popping up between characters, to try and help. (I need in-show footage, of Mxy sneaking up on ppl, without his powers, on all fours / crouched, just to get the desired effect.) I mean, I’ve never really watched Malcom, but wasn’t he like what Mxy usually is? A bit of a trouble-maker, prankster, chaos-ensuing wherever he goes? ...well, in that case, the episode title didn’t hold up, as Mxy’s scenes were not fun or really goofy. Yes, there was some superficial humor, but just to serve Mxy dealing with not being able to use his powers, which in turn was only barely scratched at (although it turned out to be his final character development crisis, appreciating not having powers and - in turn - facing consequences for once). Again, a whole lot going on in the episode, so a lot of that may have ended up on the cutting-room floor.
...where’s Kelly? Secretly adopting a kid, maybe?
...Kara’s still a reporter, right? I mean, whenever it serves the immediate plot, yes? ...Not even a throw-away line, that she has to pop up at CatCo for appearances sake? Since Andrea is already upset with her AND looking into her friends’ identities? At least, Kara should take a peek to make sure Andrea hasn’t uncovered anything yet... No?
Well, that’s all I’ve got for now. Kue out.

Kara Danvers x Reader #7

Notes:
Sorry for taking ten years to get to this request! I hope that this is what you were looking for, and that you enjoy reading. I didn’t really do any spelling checks so sorry for spelling mistakes :)
I also haven’t written fluff in awhile, so sorry if this is bad.
———
The sun peaks through a crack in the curtains and bathes half the room in warm light that consumes both you and Kara.
Her legs are tangled with yours, her arm is swung across your stomach, and her head is laid on your chest— and really...not even the low temperature of the air conditioning (you set it low last night in preparation for this moment) keeps you from the overbearing heat of it all.
Kara’s like a furnace. A beautiful drooling furnace...but the thing is, is that; you don’t even actually care. As a matter of fact, you don’t think you can sleep without the heat anymore...which is just—
You’re whipped.
Very whipped, because when your wife moves her head up to snuggle into your neck and pulls you into her more tightly all you can think about is that if time paused in this moment, and you were stuck here forever, you’d be okay with it. It’s Kara after all.
Your wife. Kara; your wife. You’re both finally married. On your honeymoon. Because that’s what happens after two people marry each other.
Kara’s your wife.
———
It takes about half an hour for Kara to rise from her sleep too, but you’re already half asleep again so it’s too late, at least that’s what you grumble out to her.
“You let me sleep in,” Kara huffs. You open a single eye to watch her pout but end up smiling at her bed hair instead. “We have to leave. We can’t spend our honeymoon in bed.”
Not true. You could both very well spend your honeymoon in bed.
“We can do what we want,” you protest, grabbing Kara’s wrist to keep her in bed when she tries to scoot off.
She gives you an amused look. “If I had known this was how we were going to spend our honeymoon we could have just stayed home and saved the money.”
“Yes,” you agree, pulling Kara back down on the bed and immediately wrapping your body around hers when she’s settled. “But then we would have to make our own bed.”
You feel Kara’s release of breath on top of your head and smirk in silent victory. “Ten minutes,” Kara warns.
“Whatever you say.”
——
You promised Kara that you’d do whatever she wanted after the extra ten minutes of this morning turned into an hour...but you’re starting to regret it now.
You weren’t expecting Kara to pick sports, and while you’re not terrible at physical activity, you can’t really compete with Supergirl.
Especially when she starts cheating.
“Kara,” you growl out angrily, dropping your tennis racket on the ground. She looks at you guilty, like a kid found with their hand in the cookie jar. “Stop it or else i’m done playing with you.”
——
She doesn’t stop. She just tries to cheat with more subtlety...which, to be fair, is kind of humorous to watch, but it also leaves you exasperated. The dork clearly knows what she’s doing.
——
“I won!” Kara proclaims with a wide grin, ignoring your scowl. She didn’t need to cheat, she could have very well won without the speed, and without the strength. Her stamina is practically never ending, she could have won without cheating.
But she didn’t. She cheated her way to victory and now she’s bouncing around like she did something.
Admittedly it’s got you a bit pouty and bitter, that’s why you deem it right to get payback in the only way you can.
——
“Baby,” Kara whines, tugging on your shirt like an angsty child. “Please, it’s our honeymoon. All I did was cheat in a tennis game.”
You spare a glance over your shoulder at her, biting your lip to hold in your smile. It’s been a full hour since the tennis game, and at this point you’re keeping up the bitter silence for laughs more than actual bitterness.
Kara’s cute when she’s desperate. This whole thing is turning you into a sadist.
“I love you,” Kara says, waiting for you to say it back. To speak. When you say/do nothing in return other than quirk an eyebrow at her she gives you a look that’s pure betrayal and astonishment.
You make a noise of protest when Kara tugs you to a stop and clasps your face in between her hands. The two of you are in the middle of a sidewalk but she doesn’t seem to care.
“I love you,” Kara repeats with furrowed eyebrows. She clearly thought that this would be the one tactic to get you to speak again. It’s a good attempt, when she looks at you like that you almost do want to speak up and say it back.
Instead you settle for placing a soft kiss on her lips, and another one on the inside of her wrist.
“You’ll kiss me but you won’t talk to me?” Kara asks, but she’s grinning at you with a hint of mischief so you know she’s not genuinely upset.
The mischief is a bit unsettling though.
“I’ll get you to say something, just you wait,” Kara promises, pulling you into another kiss. And yeah..this is okay. Kara can cheat at tennis all she wants.
——
You don’t expect her first real attempt to be the one that gets you speaking to her, but Kara seems to like playing unfair today.
She laid off on trying to get you to talk the entire day. The two of you have been getting creative with making up new ways to communicate and have been having fun with it, so much so that you forget about the challenge.
She just caught you off guard in the end.
All she does is pretend to get into a sneezing fit and you’re immediately at her side, concerned. “Baby are you...wait why are you smiling?” You ask, “do you not realize that you can’t get…oh.”
“Oh,” Kara repeats, her face just complete and utter smugness.
You blink at her in complete silence, questioning all of her life choices until this moment. This is just pathetic.
“I missed your voice,” Kara admits, leading you into an alleyway so you don’t stop the flow of traffic on the sidewalk.
It’s dark out so alleyways like this would be giving you the creeps if it weren’t for Kara standing in front of you. Kara Zor-el, standing in front of you looking victorious.
“Congratulations, you snake,” you mutter, tucking a strand of blonde hair behind Kara’s ear.
Kara only smirks. “Do I get a prize?”
You nod, because there is one thing you wanted to do ever since this morning. Even before the fateful tennis match, while the two of you were in bed, and again later on while Kara was stuffing her face with pastries, and now too, because Kara looks beautiful in her victory— even while her win means your loss.
First, you kiss her, fully and sweetly and full of love. You kiss her in the shadows of the alleyway with cars honking not too far away, and the bustle of people walking down the sidewalk a little ways off.
You kiss her and Kara kisses back, because she always does.
Then you pull away, looking at her dazed face and feeling your own sort of victory in reflection of it. “If I ask you to marry me, is that considered a prize?”
“Is this you asking?”
“Yeah,” You confirm, “Kara Zor-el, Kara Danvers, Supergirl, my favorite person...will you marry me?”
Kara pretends to think about it for a moment, then shrugs, “why not?” She concedes, running a thumb over your pout. Her eyes are bright though, and full of her amusement.
“You’re an awful wife. When your wife proposes to you you’re supposed to say yes.”
“I did,” Kara jokes, “i’m just considering the cost of a second wedding.”
“We won’t have one, you said yes so we’re automatically married again.”
“Is that how it works?” Kara wonders, looking doubtful enough that you kiss her again, long and hard, until she has to pull back for air. Kissing her is your ultimate technique to get her to relent, and it works. “Yeah,” Kara agrees breathlessly, “whatever you say.”
You laugh, rolling your eyes. “I’m glad we’re in agreement. Do you also think you can fly us to Paris tomorrow?”
Kara nods, and just keeps nodding until her brain catches up to what you said and she pouts. “You have to book the hotel.”
“Of course, whatever you say,” you repeat.
Kara narrows her eyes at you, watching as you kiss her nose and begin to make your way out of the alleyway.
She follows.
“Can we get a dog?” She asks once she’s beside you. You glance over at the dog her eyes are focused on. Kara always asks the same question whenever she sees a dog that even looks semi-cute (this one kinda reminds you of Cat Grant though...just the way it walks...).
“You can do whatever you want.”
Kara huffs out a breath, shaking her head. “No I can’t. If I get a dog it’s your dog too.”
You pause, thinking... “Then if you promise not to cheat in tennis you can have a dog.”
Kara lets out a loud groan that has several people looking over. She clearly thought that now that you were talking it was a thing of the past.
She has another thing coming if she thinks you’re going to let go of the tennis thing anytime soon. It’s far too amusing watching Kara get whiney whenever it’s mentioned.
“If you let that drop, I'll let us sleep in tomorrow,” Kara bargains, waggling her eyebrows.
And let what drop? All you can think about is a few extra hours snuggled into your kryptonian.

Spotting Leopards
Another Supergirl / Black Lightning ficlet just for fun.
The trailhead parking lot is mostly empty at this early hour. A few cars are scattered around. Kelly, Alex, and her friend Anissa are the only people.
Alex’s and Anissa’s moms are friends, Alex had told Kelly. The Pierces are from Freeland, Georgia, but Alex and Anissa had met a few times over the years when they accompanied their moms to various conferences. Ever the introvert, Alex hadn’t been fond of spending time with unfamiliar children, but Anissa’s extroverted friendliness and their otherwise similar personalities and interests made them fast friends.
Anissa and her girlfriend are on vacation in National City. With Anissa and Alex both accustomed to early morning runs, they had decided on an early morning scenic hike to give them time to catch up and enjoy the sights.
Alex looks around. Kelly follows suit, noting the trail map poster, public restroom, and various signs that warn of wildlife, including mountain lions.
“I thought you were here with your girlfriend,” Alex says.
Anissa tilts her head in the direction of the trailhead. “Grace went on ahead. She’ll meet us somewhere on the trail.”
Alex frowns and reaches for her phone. “Oh, are we late?”
“Nah,” Anissa says. “She just wanted to get a head start.”
As they walk, Alex and Anissa catch up, and Kelly and Anissa get to know each other. Whenever necessary, they speak in code and metaphors, so any random person they come across on the trail doesn’t learn of secret powers and identities. Anissa tells Kelly about Perenna and how helpful she’s been with Jen.
“I’d love to meet he–” Kelly lets out a small scream of surprise as a leopard drops down from the canopy in front of them. Alex immediately rounds on the leopard, the Hand of the Soldier morphed into a gun.
“Don’t shoot!” Anissa steps between the leopard and Alex. She looks Alex up and down, taking in the form-fitting pants and sweater, before returning her gaze to the gun. “Where did you even keep that?”
Alex stares. “A leopard just dropped out of the trees, a leopard, not a jaguar, which would be the right hemisphere, and even then their current range doesn’t exist this far north – there are, like, maybe two near the southern border of Arizona – and you are asking about my gun?”
Anissa’s nose wrinkles in confusion. “How do you know all this?”
Kelly’s confusion is more incredulous. “How are you thinking about all that right now, and not just ‘Oh my God! Danger!’?”
The leopard growls, almost sounding disappointed.
“Okay, before we all keep confusing each other” – Anissa points behind herself to the leopard – “this is my girlfriend.”
Alex blinks. She lowers her hand, letting the gun morph back into its original form. “A shapeshifter?”
Now that the threat of a weapon is gone, the leopard shifts into a human form, presumably Grace. “Hi. Yeah, sorry about that. There’s been a lot of sitting in traffic since we got here, and the leopard got antsy. I had to let it run for a bit.”
Alex seems totally at ease now, but Kelly’s brain and body are still catching up. Her heart hasn’t stopped racing thanks to the leopard appearing out of no where – the trailhead signs definitely didn’t warn about that – and her brain is still trying to make sense of Grace’s shapeshifting. In spite of all that, her therapist training automatically notes the way Grace talks about the leopard as an entity separate from herself.
Alex looks up into the trees where Grace had jumped from. She grins. “That’s so cool. I’ve seen videos of leopards running up into trees and jumping out of them. So fast. And with prey in their mouths, like over a hundred pounds worth of prey. So cool.”
“She can even do it in this fine human form,” Anissa says, looking appreciatively at Grace’s body before giving her a playful nudge with her shoulder.
Grace smiles shyly and nudges her back.
“Do–” Alex hesitates. “Do you–”
“Do I...?” Grace prompts.
Alex grimaces. “This might be a weird question.”
“Arguably this whole situation is already weird. Go for it,” Grace says with a shrug, though Kelly detects an air of discomfort.
“Do you know what subspecies you are?” Alex asks. “Or are you your own subspecies? ‘Cause, I mean, there are a few, and some of them are the rarest cats on Earth.”
“Oh, no idea.” Grace looks to Anissa, who gives her an encouraging smile. “For most of my life, I wasn’t exactly fond of my powers, so my main thought about the leopard was usually, ‘I really hope I don’t turn into it today.’”
So Kelly had been right about the discomfort.
“Sorry,” Alex says.
“No, it’s okay,” Grace reassures her. “It’s nice that you think it’s cool.”
To give Grace a break, Kelly tells Alex, “I didn’t know you knew so much about leopards.”
“Kara and I watch nature documentaries sometimes,” Alex explains. “She was kind of obsessed with learning more about this planet when she came to Ear– umm, our family.”
Kelly wonders if Alex is just being careful because of Grace or if Anissa also doesn’t know. As much as Alex trusts Anissa, Kelly knows Alex generally treats Kara’s secret identity as hers alone to share.
“Incoming jogger,” Grace warns.
“You can hear them coming,” Alex observes.
Grace nods. “And smell them.”
“Okay, that one’s new.”
The group continues along the trail. They chat about the clinic Anissa volunteers at and Kelly’s research into effective methods of treating trauma.
A minute later, a jogger passes by them.

Brainy getting Kara a cat that looks like Streaky after she gets out of the Phantom Zone
- Cute! Of course! x
Adjusting to life back in National City had been far harder than Kara had anticipated.
Never was that more apparent than when she found herself alone.
Not that she’d been alone very much. Since her family had come to her rescue, Kara hadn’t really been permitted that much time to herself. Alex had been bringing over care packages that she and Kelly had put together almost three times daily, and that was only during the hours Kara was home. At work, it appeared it was Nia’s turn to play the role of overbearing minder. She’d been sticking to Kara’s side for just about every second of the workday. Kara thought it was kind of sweet, all things considered, it was just… Nia was about as subtle about it as a brick through the window - or Brainy when he’d turned up in CatCo’s elevator last year.
Speaking of Brainy, he was just about the only friend Kara hadn’t been seeing on a daily basis. Even Lena was making her rounds, trying to find any excuse to get Kara out of the apartment or – failing that – inviting herself over unprompted.
Kara appreciated everyone’s attention, she really did, but as she sat there on her couch, curled up in her comfiest cardigan and sweats combo on the first day off she’d had all week… she couldn’t help but feel some semblance of relief.
As much as she loved her family, she hated hurting them, and when her mask finally came crumbling down after days of keeping it plastered to her face, Kara knew that was exactly what she would have inadvertently caused.
Alex may have let her cry in her arms for a solid thirty minutes after she’d stumbled into J’onn’s Tower-turned-ship, and even seen her at her worst on the days that followed when she’d slept over for those first few terrifying nights… but Kara couldn’t bear to let her sister hold onto that weight for longer than it felt necessary. She was Supergirl, the hero National City looked up to, that even her friends looked up to, and she hated causing any of them the same kind of heartache that they’d felt in her absence.
So, yes, maybe the stillness of her apartment was kind of stifling. Maybe every shadow that jutted across her walls reminded her of the Phantoms that had loomed overhead in that awful alien dimension, but at least when she was alone, jumping at something so fiercely she scorched a wall, or grabbing a pillow so hard it exploded into feathers in her hands could be hidden from any prying eyes.
She would get through this eventually. She just needed time to sort out her head, to focus on the positives, to…
Kara was thrown from her thoughts somewhat abruptly when she heard three quick knocks at her apartment door.
She frowned, lowering the TV’s volume as she heaved herself from the blanket and pillow nest she’d made at the couch corner. She padded over to the door curiously, relaxing into her heightened sense of hearing just enough to pick up on two distinct heartbeats on the other side. Although, one was… far less human in nature than she had expected, which certainly raised a big question.
When she opened the door to find Brainy holding a cat out to her much in the same way someone might offer flowers, she got her answer.
The cat, at least, seemed perfectly content to hang from Brainy’s outstretched hands, its back legs kicked up towards her, large amber eyes wide and unblinking.
It opened its mouth to yawn, as though it had grown used – if not bored – to this kind of behaviour.
“Hey Brainy,” Kara said, her eyes about as wide as the cat’s. “Um, what’s going on?”
“I brought you a gift!” Brainy announced, lifting the cat higher as though to emphasise his point. The cat, to its credit, didn’t appear to find this perplexing at all.
That made one person, at least.
Kara blinked in stunned silence, rubbing at the side of her head. “You got me a cat?” she asked, posing the question in a half joking manner. When Brainy’s eager smile only widened, realisation finally set in. Kara’s mouth fell open. “Wait. You got me a cat?”
“Indeed,” Brainy said enthusiastically, striding past Kara into the room, cat in tow.
Kara could only stare at the space he’d left behind. She shook her head, quickly turning towards him. “Why…?”
Brainy brought the cat closer to his chest, almost contemplatively, though he continued to hold it at that same awkward angle.
The cat licked its nose in disgruntled acceptance.
“Well, since you asked,” Brainy began, “I have been studying… both the medical and psychological benefits of having pets recently. Cats offer companionship, but did you also know that their purrs have curative properties, and petting them has been proven to work against stress and anxiety?” Brainy’s expression turned serious suddenly and he swivelled towards her, thrusting the cat out at her with not even a word of warning. “With that in mind, I present to you, Streaky 2.0!”
Kara reached for the cat instinctively, hastily taking it beneath the shoulders before transferring it into her own arms. Old habit kicked in almost immediately, and she found herself pulling the cat towards her shoulder with all the gentleness she’d put into practice holding this particular cat’s namesake. The cat sagged into her arms in seconds, kicking up a fuss as its whiskers tickled curiously beneath her chin.
“Streaky two point-” Kara began, only to be interrupted when the cat began to purr in soft breathy beats against her chest. Its damp nose probed her neck, tracking her scent. “Oh… oh.” Animals had always seemed to take a liking to Kara, that was true, but this was strange even for her.
Kara squinted at Brainy suspiciously. “This is a real cat, right?”
Brainy scoffed. “Why, do you think I would build one?” His eyebrows drew together suddenly, a deadly serious expression. “I did consider it. A cat as indestructible as Supergirl would be an incredible feat of science. But, no. This is a regular cat. I retrieved him from a shelter.” He leaned in, nearly conspiratorially. “Would you like to see the adoption paperwork?”
Kara snorted. “Y’know, I think I’ll take your word for it.” Her smile sobered as the cat continued to purr up a storm in her arms, closing his eyes into a half squint in total feline bliss. “You really got him for me?”
“Of course.” Brainy softened suddenly, folding his arms. He bit his lip, as though searching for the right words. After a moment’s consideration, he smiled awkwardly. “You were… in pain. Struggling with life back from the Phantom Zone. Additionally,” he gestured bluntly around the room, “you currently live alone.”
Kara laughed bleakly. “Thanks for the reminder.”
“What I mean to say,” Brainy hastened, “is that cats make people happy, and Streaky made you very happy. You felt more grounded learning to care for him, however, I believe this time it is time for your companion to take care of you.” When Brainy smiled again, it was far more relaxed. “I spent many days at the shelter making note of every cat’s characteristics, vocal patterns, requirements of other’s attention, and this cat surpassed all of my expectations.” He nodded succinctly. “He is loyal, I am certain of that.”
Kara grinned. “Well, he certainly let you carry him around like a crazy person.”
“Nia tells me cats are resilient creatures,” Brainy said with a shrug, “this one especially so. I think he will make an excellent fit.”
Kara’s smile widened further. “Brainy… this is incredibly sweet. I don’t know what to-” Her eyes widened. “Oh, I don’t have any supplies.”
“Fear not!” Brainy said, finger raised. “I have come prepared with the basics, although I am sure you would prefer to personalise your pet’s belongings in the long term.”
Kara rolled her eyes. Of course Brainy would have come bearing all the necessities for pet care. He was never one to do anything inefficiently. She pressed her lips into the cat’s warm fur, just between his ears. He was a little softer than her old Streaky, although she liked those small differences. It made this cat symbolise more to her than just the nostalgia she knew Brainy was hoping to achieve, but also the sense of a new beginning.
In truth, Kara hadn’t been considering getting a pet any time soon, not when she had so little time even for herself. As Supergirl, it felt wrong, somehow, to have another living thing rely on her as its sole care giver.
But, Brainy was right. Cats had always been her soft spot, and this one already felt like it was healing something deep inside of her, stitching an old wound that wasn’t even visible on the surface. Maybe having a pet around wasn’t such a bad idea, after all, especially when this cat was as perfect as Brainy had insinuated.
Besides, it got awfully lonely here at night…
Kara glanced up at Brainy suddenly. “Wait, is this why you haven’t been around the last few days? You were out scouting for the perfect cat?”
Brainy grimaced. “Busted.”
Kara laughed, she couldn’t help it. Brainy might have changed a lot over the last few months, but he was still as candid as he’d ever been, maybe now even more-so without all the secrets he’d had weighing him down.
She knew, deep down, that a part of her had changed, too. And maybe, maybe it was time she let down some of her walls, enough that she could let her family see her for every change the Phantom Zone had brought on – good or bad.
And, Brainy? Well, he seemed like the perfect start. After all, there was so much more she wanted to learn about him, too.
So, with Streaky 2.0 still snuggled contently in her arms, Kara smiled, taking Brainy’s arm with her free hand. “I think you’re right. I do want to personalise my pet supplies." She brightened. "Hey, maybe we can go to the pet store tomorrow!”
“But, I was just there,” Brainy pointed out.
Kara rolled her eyes. “Yes, but you put in the study-time. You know this cat better than I do, right now. I’m gonna need your expertise to find the best stuff to truly pamper him. Besides,” Kara squeezed his arm, “I want to spend some time with my friend.”
When Brainy’s eyes sparked and he grinned his affirmation, Kara was so, so grateful to see it.
“Very well, then,” Brainy agreed. “Tomorrow it is!”

A New Beginning: A Supergirl 6x20 Re-Write
Chapter Seven: The Arrival
And just like that, and one light speed shift later, both J’onn and Lena were in Argo City. Lena had her so many stories of Krypton, and the stories about visiting Argo when she found out her mother was alive. Nervous was an understatement. She was not only going to ask Zor-El, but Alura; the woman she helped make Harun-El for.
Zor-El knew the kind of person Lena was, simply by how Lena rescued Kara and how attentive she was to his daughter when she returned. Alura however, that was when Lena and Kara weren’t on good terms and weren’t speaking; though she wouldn’t have forgotten when Lena had helped Kara. Hopefully, convincing her would be somewhat easy.
“I’ve been told so many stories about this place by Kara, it almost felt like it was a fairytale. The way she described the details; it didn’t seem real. Now…those descriptions are modest.” Lena was bewildered at the sight before her.
The world of Pandora from Avatar had nothing on Argo City.
“Now, actually being here…the nerves have been turned up to 11.” Lena continues, the fidgeting she was doing on the ride to Argo City even more evident now.
“Lena, the nerves are warranted. But you have shown growth since your last interaction with Alura, and not only have you proven to us you’ve changed on numerous occasions, but more importantly to Kara. Alura will see that And she will appreciate the honesty.” J’onn assures her with a warm, comforting tone. “Here, just to help fit in with the attire.”
Draping the Midnight Blue cloak over her Charcoal Grey suit, Lena followed J’onn in the direction of Kara’s parents.
“Do you think I should ask them individually as a pair? And if I did do them individually, I feel like Zor-El would be slightly easier considering I do have a more recent interaction with him.” Lena, always analytical, even when it comes to missions of romance, wanted to make sure she had the right outcome in mind for every decision she made.
This decision however, was multifaceted and complex, like her favorite scones from Dublin.
“I know you want me to give you a concrete answer, but this time I’m afraid I don’t have one this time. You just have to trust your instincts, Lena. When it comes to Kara and her happiness, you always know the right thing to do.” J’onn assures her.
“I thought I recognized that voice.” With a warm, regal chuckle, Zor-El greets J’onn. “And Miss Luthor, what a lovely surprise. To what do I owe the pleasure?”
Lena exchanges a knowing look with J’onn, and then returns her attention back to Zor-El. “I think it’s best I tell you and Alura why I’m here.”
“Of course.” Zor-El nods, gesturing the way, following with Lena. “By the way, how is Kara doing?”
“She’s actually doing really well. Ever since she decided to stop hiding her true self, not only has she been able to help more people, but she got a promotion: Cat Grant made Kara her Editor In Chief.” Lena was beaming from ear to ear.
“Really? That’s wonderful.” Zor-El felt the same sense of pride Lena did as he heard the great news. “What else has happened since I was there last?”
“Alex and Kelly adopted the sweetest, and most ridiculously smart little girl, Esme. They also got married, and I have to say it was a long time coming. They deserve nothing but the world. And a complete surprise to me…they made me Esme’s Godmother.”
“Well, that sounds like quite the honor.” While listening, Zor-El was taking mental notes of Lena’s tone of voice and inflections.
“It took a while for it to sink in, considering the past I had with Alex. I knew she doubted me at the start, and I had to prove myself time and time again, but I was really serious about everything in Kara’s life. That meant, improving the relationships with the ones Kara loved the most.”
“You really have taken great measures to be the best version of yourself for my daughter, and her family.” Zor-El was blown away by the words he was hearing.
“She has. And I can personally attest to Lena not only caring about Kar, but she makes sure we’re cared for as well.” J’onn being J’onn, he was unironically being Lena’s hype man.
“That’s excellent, that makes me so happy to hear.” Zor-El, with Lena and J’onn at his side, had finally reached his and Alura’s home. “Alura, we have some visitors.”
From the den, as if a Renaissance painting had come to life, strides in Alura who, to Lena’s last memory, was looking even more regal and poised than when she last met her. “J’onn. Good to see you.” She greets him with a smile, the twist to an unreadable yet stoic expression directed at Lena. “Miss Luthor, I’m surprised to see you here. To what do I owe this surprise?”
“If we can return to the den, I feel like the both of you should sit for what I’m about to tell you.” Lena gestured.
“Zor-El, Alura. After you.” J’onn bows his head out of respect for them to go first. Lagging back he whispers to Lena. “Remember, honesty and sentiment from the heart. You’ve got this.” He gives her his famous fatherly squeeze on the shoulder.
Chapter Seven is here! Hope you all enjoy it!

Watching Supergirl, S1E16 “Falling”:
Kara and Alex seem to be back on cheery terms rather quickly...
Hard to feel very sorry for Siobhan here. Using Cat’s elevator may be brazen, but using your work computer to send information to a competitor (and then not locking your computer when walking away from it) is both brazen and stupid.
Out-of-character Kara seems to be acting the way Maxwell Lord acts all the time.  She’s practically quoting him directly when she talks about “enabling all of you in your victimhood.”  Although I suppose Maxwell Lord is not as inclined toward form-fitting black uniforms and lip gloss.  Is the show trying to say that Maxwell Lord and Supergirl are two sides of the same coin, and is that why it also keeps trying to build a relationship between him and Alex?  If so, it still has a lot of work to do.
OK, flicking peanuts to smash liquor bottles in public is a pretty entertaining form of petty destruction.
These effects are really impressive.
