What is one thing that your character dislikes about themselves? ("Nothing" is also a valid answer.)
What does your character see as the greatest injustice?

On a scale from 1-10, how intelligent is your character? (1 being incredibly stupid with almost no knowledge of the world, and 10 literally being Light Yagami. If you don't get it, that's on you lol; but it's basically having over 200 IQ.)
Does your character specialize or have remarkable talent in anything? If so, what is it?
In a group setting, what role would your character have? Leader, co-leader, follower, or outsider?
What event in your story altered your character the most?
In the end, what is your character grateful for?
Why did you choose to use this character to answer these questions? (I would love to see your answers!)
Happy writing~

There’s this thing about being continually punished for being angry as a child, and it’s that you inevitably feel absolutely helpless when you’re angry. Your anger can’t accomplish anything, it doesn’t protect you, it doesn’t state your feelings, it doesn’t enforce your boundaries, even though it’s supposed to do those things. You’ve been wounded, you are right to rise up and protect yourself with rage.
Instead, your anger provokes retaliation, revenge, additional danger for your survival, and it leads you to a state where you not only can’t get angry, but feel like that’s all that anger does - invokes more abuse. When you try to get rightfully angry in your adult life, at some obviously shitty injustice, you instead find yourself despairing over every scenario of how this could come back to hurt you, how the other person might use some kind of power to get revenge, to get you removed, to put you in more trouble than you could possibly deal with. It becomes terrifying to stand up for yourself, even a little, because in your head, every word you state in your defense, will be perceived as a provocation for torture.
The second problem you might end up with, that even when you do manage to get angry, to be sure it’s a completely justified and safe thing to do, you’ll have no idea what amount of anger is appropriate for what situation. Once your anger is triggered, it might become impossible to stop it, even if you don’t take any actions, the rage might boil inside you for days, weeks, because someone triggered the mountain of anger you store in your body, and it’s tearing thru you like a volcano. It can be extremely difficult to find a way to react normally, to judge what amount of anger is necessary to prove your point and get the injustice undone, without overdoing it or taking anger out on someone who can’t do anything about it.
I’m struggling to understand that my anger can accomplish anything at all - after all, it was not taken seriously, and forced down for the most of my life, to the point where I was shocked to hear that some people found my cold anger scary. I would shut myself down for weeks on time because I didn’t want to miss-step and act out my rage on anyone, and apparently this was enough to get some people scared. Because it is not normal for a human being to be that angry, and that cold, for so long. People are used to bursts of anger, and then communication, making up, forgiveness. It doesn’t work with me. I can’t stop being angry until I dissociate and completely forget the original issue. I can only go back to communicating once the injustice was erased out of my mind. And this means, it never gets resolved, it can’t even be mentioned without me experiencing extreme rage once again.
Let your kids be angry, dammit. Child’s anger is not threatening, it’s not a danger to you. The natural response is there for a reason. Child anger is not disrespect or stepping out of their place, it’s because they’re human, they’re struggling! They feel wounded. And if there’s some understanding that needs to take place, it should take place after they’ve calmed down. You as an adult should know that much, even adults don’t listen to reason while overcame with emotions. No child needs their anger forced back into their throat with threats or abuse.

Episode 3 moved the plot along quite nicely but I'm far more intrigued in how it moved several character arcs forward. There was a throughline between Evangeline, Annie and Leah's stories in this episode of indigenous cultures being systematically eroded.
Evangeline's mother died before she could share her Inupiaq name, Leah is being separated from her birth culture by her stepmother, and Annie was likely killed for protesting the mine, a corporation that's ruining their lands.
This theme is further explored by Danvers going pretty soft while dealing with people like Hank, Wheeler, etc. So far, we've seen the justice system continue to fail these marginalized communities.
The problem being Danvers sees it as a measured and calm response while not understanding or empathizing with the generational-strong anger that these people have built up from injustice.
In a flashback, we see Evangeline take a moral stance, and let Annie finish the birthing process instead of enforcing law and order with a sweeping generality to it.
The episode forced us to examine how each of them sees the law, and what it means to them and how they engage with that.
Tumblr media
We also get some more time with Peter, and his conflict over work vs. his home life. Very purposefully, this is maybe the first time in three episodes we get to see him spend quality time with his child.
Tumblr media
As far as surreal horror goes, we get two really strong moments with "Lund" speaking to Evangeline and the orange coming back.
Solid episode, I think if the next 3 stay this strong - It'll land very well.
Tumblr media
Final Note: As far as the supernatural elements go, they're keeping the ambiguity alive with the poisoned water angle / Evangeline's family having a history of mental illness BUT there's almost no way you could reasonably explain away multiple characters experiencing the 'she's awake' moment
My theory at this point is that some of what we're seeing is hallucinatory in nature and some is bona fide magical realism / supernatural horror (kind of like the last bit in Carcosa in Season 1 where Rust finally reacts to the weird vortex he's seeing because it might be implicitly something not from drugs)

Let's Talk About Echo & Crosshair
This is going to be long winded so I will put my thoughts under the cut <3
Echo and Crosshair have a lot of similarities and I think a lot of that has to do with their experiences with trauma. They have reacted differently to that trauma but still, those similarities are there.
Let's start with the lightest of this discussion: their wit and personalities. Crosshair has a dry delivery, borderline or outwardly mean at times, and he tends to never beat around the bush. He's forward and stubborn and he will call you out if he thinks you're wrong (immediately his treatment of Rex comes to mind). Echo is similar in this dryness. He rolls his eyes a lot and he strikes me as the person to call out his loved ones when they're being absolutely obtuse. He speaks his mind and doesn't hide when he's upset. They are both on the blunter side of things but the way people react to Echo's bluntness versus Crosshair's definitely varies. I think this is because Crosshair can be cruel while Echo tends to hold his tongue and go for a, still forward, but more diplomatic way.
I also think they both lead with emotion. Crosshair we see be angry a lot more than any other emotion (but that doesn't mean he doesn't have other emotions). We see Echo have a lot of fire within him - usually pointed towards an injustice. He's willing to stand up for his family, testify for Riyo, and fight with Rex to save their brothers from the empire. We see Crosshair do this too when he fights so hard for Mayday. He sees a person who is so deserving of saving that he puts his all into doing just that. They are both willing to let their emotions guide them, it just manifests a little differently. Crosshair's is more passion and surges of protectiveness and loyalty while Echo's is more sustained and dialed in. They both have this loyalty towards their loved ones and their brothers but Echo's is more doing the right thing to keep people safe and Crosshair's is more: whatever it takes to get the best end result is the path I will take. Same idea different approach.
This plays into a trait that both of them have: a strong sense of loyalty. Loyalty is extremely important to both of them but Echo tends to let this loyalty drive him towards the greater good, a willingness and need to protect everyone not just those closest to him. Crosshair, on the other hand, lets this guide him to do just about anything to stay true to it. He'd willingly kill and die for those he is loyal to. Again we see their paths line up in a way that is just so similar and yet their reactions and how they use it is very different.
Now, for the biggest part of this: their trauma. We are well acquainted with Echo's trauma. He was left behind, captured, tortured, and mind controlled before his rescue. He suffered immense pain and has massive guilt over what he did when he did not have control. We see him struggle with PTSD, anger, and probably a lot of survivors guilt. His story is one soaked in tragedy but ultimately it is about overcoming odds and staying true to who you are even as the world caves in around you. We can see this struggle with Crosshair too. He was left behind which led to his continual torture and mind control. He was forced to do horrible things and endure a lot of pain and suffering along the way. But then we see him continue down a path with the empire and instead of overcoming and staying true to himself he latches onto the empire and starts to build his life around that instead. (We definitely got a lot of development in this area with episode 12 with seeing him save Mayday and shoot Nolan.) What I want to focus on here is why their responses to this are so different.
Echo, upon being rescued, had a massive support system to help him. He had Rex, this new squad, and an environment that was familiar to him despite how much he himself had changed. He had to adjust and adapt to this new reality of his but he still had so much of what he was used to that he was able to take that pain and start to cope with it. I definitely think he's got a lot left to work through but my point is that he was able to start the process in a healthier way. There was a stability built into it and it allowed him to grow and mature and hold onto his kind heart.
Crosshair on the other hand... He finally starts to wake up from the mind control. The brain washing wears off. And he's alone. There is zero support system for him to feel safe enough to be vulnerable. His family is gone. There is no one around who loves or supports him. He has done horrible things and hunted down the only people in the galaxy that care about him. And instead of coming out of the ordeal with a greater sense of self and an ability to overcome the anger and resentment inside of him it leaves him hollow and burrowing into himself to keep himself safe. He has no support system to help him emotionally so it festers and ends up hurting him even more.
They have such different reactions to coming out of the other side because they came to in much different circumstances. But in the end they would understand each other better than almost anyone else. They’ve been through very similar things and have made it to the other side. (and I think if anyone would understand Crosshair's anger it would be Echo, even if he doesn't agree with Crosshair's choices.)
I think it would be fantastic when Crosshair is reunited with his family that we see a moment where the two of them get to acknowledge that they have something even greater in common now. Even if it's silent or short. These two could draw so much healing from each other.
If you have things to add please please please feel free! I’m so interested to see what everyone else sees.

Does Boreas truly love his family or does he simply see it as a responsibility to take care of them simply because that’s what you’re supposed to do when you have family? How does he react when he loses them in the canon timeline?
well, when Zephyr fell and went dark he was messed up by it so badly he never really got out of it even after he takes up raising and caring for batflies. he's so used to feeling anger all the time and hardly anything else that he doesn't know how to deal with the feelings Zephyr's passing makes him go through. he essentially becomes paralyzed in the grief, which is actually the main thing that destroys Mission Self-preservation
that's what this meme basically addresses-
Tumblr media
if he socialized better, wasn't caught only in his tiny little circle and refused any relationship from others like Orion, he could've addressed that crippling emotional agony that comes with passing of a loved one. time won't heal you well without medicine
Boreas is the first one Euros tells about his second Rot
Tumblr media
another tragedy he won't be able to cope with. Euros' last broadcast is singing into the frequencies, for anyone still alive and capable to listen to him for the last time. B and some more others come together and answer his calls, sing to him until his power fails and Euros goes dark
Tumblr media
if he didn't love the boy, the man who doesn't like to sing much wouldn't come to mourn with a ballad at the funeral
his anger at Notos' blindness is inspired by my parents whenever my disability becomes the topic of a conversation. they are so so angry i've been hurt this way. nobody should have to be disabled, we are supposed to be okay. so Boreas loves Notos unbelievably much and his anger at the injustice done to her is an evidence of it. he doesn't get to call it before it collapses like with Euros because the communications are down and something tells him that it wouldn't really want to see him in its final moments upright either way. after Zephyr's collapse he became even more prickly including to his loved ones since he can't deal with it and that ended with Notos replying in kind. it's his fault that the two drifted away, but he still loves that kid
i dunno where i've seen it but in some film i think there was a scene of an addict dad and his kid, POV the kid. the dad shouted and cursed and blamed the kid for his state and for his grief, probably shattered an alcohol bottle too, then he realized what he just did while the kid cowered in the corner. he was *horrified*. he came to the kid and hugged them softly, crying and apologizing, begging for forgiveness. the child was just scared, wide eyed in confusion. that's what Boreas and Notos' relationship ends up carrying in spirit nearing the end of them all
they still love each other, but the other is doing such horrible dangerous decisions and acting even worse that it's impossible to stand and it hurts So damn much to space away from it. to shoot a fiery glare towards him when on the good days he can be the epitome of safety. so it's complicated but the love Is there, making it hurt that much more
Haboob is the only one who sorts of falls into that "its just my responsibility to take care of you" field. i kind of think of Boreas like a lion. he will stay and protect his kids, play with them, but offspring of others will be killed (ofc he doesn't go That far with fellow Iterators). after Notos, the Anemoi were supposed to be a finished group. that's it. there's only four gods to be named after. so Haboob to him is like a kid he was forced to adopt, by people he absolutely loathes. while Euros learned how to love her, Boreas just learned how to take on the responsibility. being horrible to her was easier than anyone else, but surprisingly to him it still stung when Haboob had enough and essentially slammed the door in his face by leaving the Anemoi chat and blocking his frequency. didn't help that Notos followed soon after too, cuz at this point it loved Haboob more than whatever was Boreas becoming
he took note of the sting n at some point figured out that he did actually love the kid. spent too long with her chatting with Euros and Notos in the back of his mind to not accept her into the family properly. in the off string post-MA au them addressing their relationship is one of the more important plot points

FULL MOON IN GEMINI (13) 9TH HOUSE DECEMBER 27TH, 2023 | 6:57 AM | PREDICTIVE VEDIC ASTROLOGY
Tumblr media
FULL MOON IN GEMINI (13) 9TH HOUSE DECEMBER 27TH, 2023 | PREDICTIONS
DATE: DECEMBER 27TH, 2023 | VEDIC ASTRO | PLACIDUS | 6:57
FULL VIDEO REPORT AVAILABLE ON YOUTUBE & PATREON...
AS A GEMINI NATIVE, THIS FULL MOON HAS CERTAINTLY GIVEN ME A HEADACHE. FULL MOON SIGNIFY A TIME WHERE NOT ONLY IS THE ENERGY MAXIMIZED BUT SO MUCH SO, IT FORCES ONE TO RELEASE AND LET GO OF ANYTHING THAT ADDS TO THE OVERLOAD. THINK OF A COMPUTER, NEW MOONS ARE A TIME WHEN YOU ARE DOWNLOADING NEW SOFTWARE OR PLUG INS FOR OPTIMUM USAGE. HOWEVER, FULL MOONS IS WHEN YOU MAY NEED TO RELEASE SOME OUTDATED SOFTWARE OR PLUG-INS THAT ARE TAKING TOO MUCH SPACE OR ISN’T NEEDED AND THREATENS THE EFFICIENCY OF YOUR SYSTEM. LIKE OVEREATING , FULL MOONS CAN BE A PAINFUL TIME IF YOU CHOSE TO CONTINUE ADDING MORE TO AN ALREADY FULL BELLY WITHOUT GIVING YOUR BODY TIME TO DIGEST AND RELEASE, IF YOU CATCH MY DRIFT.
WITH MUCH CONSIDERATION TO THIS BEING THE LAST FULL MOON ON 2023, AND IN THE SIGN OF SOCIAL GEMINI, THIS IS THE LAST CALL TO RELEASE ALL SURFACE LEVEL FORMS OF COMMUNICATION FOR ONE. WHAT THIS MEANS IS, FOR SOME YOU MAY START TO LOSE INTEREST, IF NOT COMPLETELY, BY PEOPLE, PLACES, THINGS AND SOCIAL MEDIA OUTLETS THAT ONLY OFFER THE BARE MINIMUM. SURFACE LEVEL INFORMATION AND COMMUNICATION IS JUST NOT ACCEPTABLE ANYMORE. MEDIOCRACY IS JUST NOT TOLERABLE ANYMORE. SMALL TALK, SHORT RESPONSES LACKING DEPTH WILL CERTAINTLY BE CHALLENGED AT THE TIME. THE FULL MOON WILL ENCOURAGE THOSE IN ENERGETIC ALIGNMENT TO SEEK HIGHER KNOWLEDGE IN TRUTH REGARDING SPIRITUALITY, RELIGION, EDUCATION, LAWS, LEGALITIES, TABOOS, THE OCCULT, FOREIGN AFFAIRS, AND ANCESTRY. YOU MAY START TO BE DRAWN TO CONTRIBUTE  OR LEARN ABOUT INFORMATION THAT IS HAPPENING AROUND THE WORLD. EXAMPLE, JUST THE OTHER DAY I CAME ACROSS A TIKTOK PAGE AND I WAS MADE AWARE ABOUT THE INJUSTICES THAT HAVE BEEN ONGOING IN THE CONGO. I TOOK AN ANCESTRY DNA TEST SOME YEARS AGO AND FOUND OUT I AM A DESCENDANT OF THE CONGO! WHEN I SAW THE VIDEO, I FELT ANGER AND SADNESS WHICH THEN PROMPTED ME TO LEARN MORE ABOUT WHAT HAS BEEN HIDDEN AND NOT COVERED ON THE NEWS. I HAVE COMPLETELY STOPPED WATCHING YOUTUBE IN THE SAME MANNER AS BEFORE, CHOSING TO DO MY OWN IN-DEPTH RESEARCH THAT I AM FULLY CAPABLE OF CARRYING OUT. YOU MAY NOTICE THAT YOU ARE MORE INCLINED TO READ OR WRITE DURING THIS TIME AS WELL, LEADING INTO THE NEW YEAR. THIS FULL MOON IS ASSISTING WITH BEING ABLE TO DIFFERITIATE BETWEEN WHAT REALLY MATTERS, FAKE NEWS VS. REAL NEWS.  DETERMINING WHAT MATTERS AND WHAT DOESN’T  WILL ALWAYS PLAY OUT DIFFERENTLY FOR EVERYONE WITH CONSIDERATION TO OUR NATAL, PROGRESSIVE AND SOLAR RETURN ASTROLOGY CHARTS. WE ARE ALL PRESENTED WITH THE SAME ENERGY BUT WILL CERTAINTLY REACT TO  IT DIFFERENTLY. FOR ME, I AM NO LONGER INTERESTED IN SMALL TALK OR SWEET NOTHINGS- I SEE THE BIGGER PICTURE NOW. WHEREAS, FOR OTHERS THEY WILL EXPAND UPON INFORMATION, TALK , NEWS AND PEOPLE WHO HAVE A LOT TO SAY BUT NOTHING TO OFFER. THIS IS ALL ABOUT MENTAL EXPANSION AND TO SOME DEGREE, PREPARING YOU FOR MATURITY. PERSONALLY, I USED TO GET CARRIED AWAY BY SOCIAL MEDIA, THE LIKES AND THE ATTENTION BUT NOW, NONE OF THAT MATTERS IF I AM NOT EARNING MONETARY GAIN ESPECIALLY CONSIDERING I AM OPERATING A BUSINESS. I USED TO ALLOW MYSELF TO GET DISTRACTED WITH CELEBRITY NEWS, GOSSIP AND OR DRAMA AND NOW, NONE OF THAT MATTERS IN COMPARISON TO COUNTRIES AT WAR, THE DECLINE OF THE ECONOMY, AND QUITE FRANKLY A DECLINE IN MY FINANCES. NOT ONLY DO I FIND MYSELF “DISTRACTED” BY BOOKS WITH THE INTENT TO CHALLENGE AND EXPAND MY MENTAL BUT ALSO, UTILIZING ANY SPIRTIUAL GIFTS I HAVE THAT CAN CONTRIBUTE TO THE BIGGER PICTURE. THE QUOTE “ DON’T WATCH ME, WATCH TV” COMES TO MIND.
THIS FULL MOON IS INFLUENCING ME TO STOP WATCHING AND DO MORE ACTION, TEACHING, WRITING, STUDYING, RESEARCHING AND TRAVELING EVEN IF ON THE COMPUTER TO OTHERS COUNTRIES AND REALITITES. FOR OTHERS NOT ALIGNED, THIS WILL SIMPLY BE A TIME WHERE THEY OVEREAT, OVER CONSUME ON GOSSIP, DRAMA, AND STAY SMALL MINDED. THIS IS NOT TO SHADE OR JUDGE ANYONE BUT THIS IS THE FACTS! SOME WILL CONTINUE TO BE APART OF THE PROBLEM WHILE CRITIZING OTHERS, MEANWHILE, THERE WILL BE THOSE WHO TRY TO FIND SOLUTIONS TO THE PROBLEMS. THERE WILL ALWAYS BE BALANCE EVERYTHING. THERE WILL ALWAYS BE HIGHER AND LOWER VIBRATIONS OF THE SAME ENERGY PRESENTED. ANOTHER THING TO NOTE, GEMINI IS KNOWN TO BE TWO FACED. THIS FULL MOON CAN ALSO BRING FORTH SOME HIGHER PERSPECTIVES ON FAMILY DYNAMICS AND CONNECTIONS AS WELL. KEEP IN MIND, WE CONSIDER FRIENDS AS FAMILY AND IN TRUE GEMINI FASHION, WE MAY EVEN CALL AN AQUAINTANCE “ A BRO, OR SIS” JOKINGLY. EXPAND YOUR MIND, THE MOON DOES NOT ONLY MEAN YOUR IMMEDIATE OR ANCESTRAL FAMILY CONNECTIONS. I CONSIDER MY DOGS, MY CHILDREN- FAMILY. PERSONALLY, I FINALLY CUT THE CORD WITH MY FAMILY BECAUSE I RECEIVED THE LAST PIECE OF INFORMATION, I NEEDED TO JUSTIFY MY DESCION. THE SMALL TALK AND SURFACE LEVEL GESTURES THAT I TOLERATED AND ALLOWED TO BLIND ME FROM THE PICTURE, JUST COULDN’T BE IGNORED ANYMORE. THE MOON NURUTURES, IT FEEDS- AND THESE CONNECTIONS, PEOPLE, PLACES, THINGS AND SOCIAL MEDIA OUTLETS, DO NOT PROVIDE NOURISHMENT BUT INSTEAD JUNK FOOD. MORAL OF THE FULL MOON IN GEMINI, IS FINALLY RELEASING ALL THE JUNK.
I WENT THE GROCERY STORE YESTERDAY AND THERE WAS THIS WOMAN BUYING HER DOG THOSE LITTLE CEASAR PACKETS AND I KEPT THINKING HOW THAT WAS THE WORST THING TO FEED YOUR DOG BECAUSE IT’S JUNK. THIS FULL MOON MAY INFLUENCE THOSE IN ENERGETIC ALIGNMENT TO FINALLY GET RID OF FAST FOOD, JUNK FOOD, SUGARY DRINKS, AND GETTING MORE ACTIVE IN THE GYM. WHY? BECAUSE THE BIGGER PICTURE IS KNOWING HEALTH IS WEALTH. AGAIN, THIS WILL NOT RESONATE FOR SOME PEOPLE AS THEY WILL CHOSE TO EXPAND ON ALL THINGS THAT CATER TO THE MOMENT AND PROVIDE INSTANT GRATIFICATION. TO ME, THIS IS A VERY POWERFUL FULL MOON BECAUSE BEING IN GEMINI, RULED BY MERCURY, COMPLETELY DOMINATES THIS REALM AND OTHERS. COMMUNICATION, INTELLIGENCE , IDEAS AND INTELLECT IS ALL THERE IS AND WILL ALWAYS BE. IT’S NEVER ENDING, LIKE THIS INTERPREATION! THE FULL MOON IN GEMINI, AT 13 DEGREES IS WITHIN THE 2ND DECAN RULED BY VENUS. THIS MEANS THERE IS CREATIVE AND ARTISTIC ABILITIES PRESENT IF ONLY EXPANDED UPON. THE DANGER LIES IN LAZINESS THAT THE 2ND DECAN OF VENUS CAN PRESENT AS WELL. IT’S EASIER TO BE SMALL MINDED, PLAY IT SMALL AND TO DO THE BARE MIMIMUM IN WHICH MOST WILL CONTINUE TO DO. AS FOR OTHERS, THIS IS PRIMETIME TO CAPITALIZE OFF LEARNING MORE, TEACHING, CREATING, AND ULTIMATELY CHALLENGING YOURSELF MENTALLY TO GROW. YOU ARE WHAT YOU ATTRACT, AND KNOWLEDGE HAS ALWAYS BEEN POWER! MOST WILL CONTINUE TO GIVE UP AND WEAKEN THEIR POWER TO CARE ABOUT GOSSIP, CELEBRITY NEWS, SMALL TALK AND SURFACE LEVEL UNDERSTANDINGS WHEREAS, OTHERS WILL BE GAINING MORE OR ESTABLISHING POWER AT THIS TIME.
GEMINI ENERGY IS ABOUT THE DETAILS, AND THE 9TH HOUSE IS WHERE ALL THOSE DETAILS ADD UP. EXAMPLE, I AM A WRITER. THE MORE I READ BOOKS, THE BETTER MY WRITING AND MY ARTICULATION OF SPEECH GETS. READING IS THE GEMINI ENERGY, AND GETTING BETTER IN OTHER AREAS LIKE SPEAKING AND WRITING IS 9TH HOUSE ENERGY. READING SOCIAL MEDIA COMMENTS DOESN’T ASSIST ME IN ANYWAY EXCEPT DISTRACT ME AND INFLUENCES SLANG AND CURSING THAT DOESN’T HELP ME GET ANYWHERE. IN CONCLUSION, THIS FULL MOON IN GEMINI AT 13 DEGREES IN THE 9TH HOUSE IS ALL ABOUT PRACTICE MAKING PERFECT AND REACHING FOR HIGHER HEIGHTS. THIS FULL MOON IN GEMINI IS ABOUT “ KNOWING BETTER AND DOING BETTER”.
THANK YOU FOR READING! TIPS ARE WELCOMED.

Daredevil by Ann Nocenti
Tumblr media
I was planning on a short review but the more I read, the more details and elements kept popping up and I knew I would be wrong to not point them out. So here it is, a fully detailed review.
Take Your Time
Tumblr media
Nocenti took over the title after Frank Miller (and if memory serves me right, several guest writers). It was not going to be easy, especially after the massive Born Again arc, in which after having his life completely shattered by Kingpin (and Miller), Matt returns to Hell's Kitchen to live happily ever after with Karen and opens a legal clinic/addiction hotline. He can't legally practice law, she is definitely not qualified for any psychological help, what could go wrong? Oh well, he's also still Daredevil and Karen still hates it, so there is that. Nocenti had a pretty tough task to rebuild everything and at the same time deliver good stories.
At this point, I notice when a new writer on a title is struggling for the first few months, while they try to establish their own take and find their footing. Once that's out of the way, everything goes smoothly (for most, anyway).
Nocenti's run gets a little chaotic in the beginning, while she starts to set the rules and draw the neighborhood around Daredevil and Karen. And if you expected her to go easy on the characters, you can rest easy knowing that she's put DD through hell. Literally.
Building Hell's Kitchen
Tumblr media
Right away she involves some neighborhood kids and gives them all slow-burn arcs. In fact, she includes children in a lot of stories, and they provide a reflection of the dark and complex adult world. They react, they mirror the grown-ups and the things happening around them affect them in an unpredictable way. The arc of the kid who slowly, in the span of several issues, discovered his darker side and ended up being killed by a mob member, is something you barely notice happening at first. And then he keeps coming back, making a small but ultimately wrong choice, which eventually brings him to his demise. All that adds a sense of responsibility and urgency to Daredevil. Something he may have always experienced but didn't necessarily watch happen. Not to imply that no one has suffered from his misguided actions before (RIP, Heather). And not to say that he was responsible for the kid's choices, but said kid came to Matt repeatedly and Matt missed all the signs. If you want to direct the issue back to the kid's parents, I have to point out that most of them were ill-attended. The other kid story is Bullet's son Lance. He doesn't have much to do with DD but he's a reflection of how an impressionable child due to lack of attention can develop a full-on phobia. That's not something that I've seen in superhero comics that often. This darkness is fully developed by Nocenty and if you look closely, has its roots in Miller's stories.
The Origins of Evil
Tumblr media
There is a series of one/two-issue arcs with guest stars and seriously messed up villains. And I don't use messed up lightly, I didn't necessarily expect this much darkness from the 80s (which is funny, since I've seen it before). In each story, there's a social issue mixed into the arc and exaggerated to the extreme. Nocenti doesn't just throw a bunch of villains at the hero. Even her minor [evil] characters usually have a rich backstory, which she isn't afraid to share. They can be victims of injustice, bad parenting, or circumstances. And then she gives them a voice and in some cases, it starts to sound reasonable before you actually see where they went off the rails (Not sure if Neya can be called a villain though).
The Main Event(s)
Tumblr media
But all these additional stories more or less revive around two main arcs - Typhoid Mary and Mephisto. Mary's arc is very impressive, and not just because it gives tons and tons of drama. Okay, mostly because of that. The worst way for a hero to lose everything is when they get hurt by someone they trusted. But also, Matt walked into this nonsense all on his own (with a little help from heightened senses, sure, we buy that). I've seen Mary before but never really got familiar with her backstory, aside from encountering her in the latest X-men runs when she married Kingpin. But here it's introduction time and literally the best possible way to know all there is to know about Mary. Her two personalities are interesting in her relationships with other characters (she mostly interacts with DD/Matt and Kingpin but only as Typhoid). But arguably the most definitive element is her parts trying to coexist or rather push each other out. Typhoid is a wild, unpredictable, manipulative, and murderous woman, while Mary is a wallflower, sort of like early Karen. They despise each other, obviously. One's qualities are incompatible with the other's. Typhoid manages to almost kill Matt, but ironically, Mary accidentally delivers the final blow. At this point, Matt's mental stability is shaken to the point from which he can't return on his own, so in true DD fashion, he skips town, reviving the Lone Stranger arc from Miller's run. It doesn't help that before he leaves, beaten and humiliated (rightfully, I might say), there's Inferno going on in New York, as in a literal Limbo opening. It takes an encounter with Mephisto and Inhumans to force him to find himself again and go back to New York. But overall, both stories are some of the greatest examples of how to properly torture a character.
Tumblr media
I liked Ann Nocenti's take, it was brutal and harsh with the world showing its ugliest colors. She doesn't shy away from a righteous message and she delivers it in a way that resonates. Nocenti also doesn't reduce her female characters to mindless damsels in need of saving. She even outlines it in the arc of Number Nine. In fact, she didn't paint one or the other as the ideal, both Nine and Brandy learned something from each other.
The Big Picture
Tumblr media
In my short review of Born Again on Instagram, I mentioned scaling, specifically Miller inviting the Avengers to deal with one of the villains Daredevil couldn't necessarily handle. Nocenti does a similar thing but again, brings it a step further - she lets Human Torch walk a day in Daredevil's shoes. While at first, he believes it's easier than his job in the Fantastic Four, since they deal with Galactus and other massive dangers on a daily basis. But quickly, he finds out that things aren't that simple. What Daredevil deals with, the famous "street level" is different from saving the world, but that doesn't mean it's easier. Saving one neighborhood with limited resources is something he can't handle. This is bringing value to a character that could easily be considered second-tier. Something that's both necessary and impressive.

But if I get into this, I might end up rehashing everything that happened in the run. That is if I haven't done it already. I want to sum it up, and of course, it wouldn't be even acceptable without pointing out John Romita Jr's art, he was the main artist for the majority of the run and stood out too. It was dynamic and added the perfect amount of emotion to every character and the interiors that surround them.
All in All

See, when I read the first few issues by Ann Nocenti, I was sure I wasn't going to like it. I thought I was missing something so many people saw. But I kept reading and when it ended, I saw exactly what was there and what made it so unique. It's a perfect follow-up to Born Again, in every sense, and it manages to destroy the seemingly indestructible life the characters created for themselves. The best stories are all like that.

Okay I’m not saying Tyler is the best option for Wednesday, and I definitely think you have great points regarding your Enid is the best for Wednesday post, but I think Tyler’s motivations are oddly parallel to the sense of justice you set up with Wednesday. Hear me out on this one because it might be a little bit complicated.
I think the Hyde and Thornhill have made it so Tyler doesn’t have any say in the violence he’s committed, but I do think the Hyde corrupts people possibly by feeding off what anger they have and magnifying it. It’s like the bad parts everyone has but magnified and ultimately corrupted. Also, Thornhill seemingly tried to seduce and groom him before deciding to imprison him in that cave, and I think when she showed him those files she used it as a way to target Nevermore the institution (and therefore everyone associated with it).
I think Hunter mentioned that his actions in season two might be motivated by the fact that he now hates outcasts because of what Nevermore did to his mother. That banning Hydes made it so one of the most vulnerable as well as dangerous groups of outcasts did not get the education they needed to stay safe. He was also mentally abused by Thornhill before getting his Hyde unlocked, and we’ve seen regular people get convinced into all sorts of stuff by abusers. Though it rationally doesn’t make sense, I could see Thornhill convincing him that what he did to Xavier was because his Dad convinced him to hate outcasts, which wouldn’t have happened if his mother didn’t get put away/died, which wouldn’t have happened if Nevermore “did more”, but that it doesn’t matter anyway because everyone at Nevermore deserves pain because they are complicit. I don’t think post-Hyde Tyler really has any say in what he does, but that pre-Hyde Tyler was groomed into thinking this somehow made sense. Then that little seed of hate Thornhill planted allowed for the Hyde to corrupt him faster, or at least made it so he felt he could only trust her pre-Hyde. So it’s violence in response to a perceived injustice, similar to what Wednesday does. The thing is, I think it’s partly a fault of Wednesday’s character in this rendition. Her belief that she is judge, jury, and executioner and needs no one else keeps her in an echo chamber where she doesn’t question her own violent tendencies and ends up hurting people she loves. They are comparable right now, which is why they get along in S1, but it’s because the Hyde also feeds into her worst instincts.
I agree with most of what you’re saying. I think Thornhill definitely told him that it was reasonable for him to lash out the way he did, especially after knowing what his mother was and what could have happened to her. However, my point was more that the fact that he assaulted Xavier in the first place proves to me that he had already justified it in his mind. And maybe at some point he regretted it or he was starting to change, but he honestly only seemed apologetic about it when there was the possibility of Wednesday being upset with him, so I doubt that was the case.
I do agree, I definitely think that Thornhill made him and his thinking and pre-conceived notions worse, and I think that he was groomed into hating outcasts more than he already did.
I also agree that the way him and Wednesday react to things is paralleled in some way, but their reasons for the way they act are not, and that’s the key point. Wednesday reacts to general injustice about outcasts and innocents being hurt. Tyler reacts to PERSONAL injustices. Kinda like the hero v villain dilemma, where the hero would sacrifice everything for the general population and for the greater good/general justice, while the villain would sacrifice the greater good and general justice if it meant correcting a personal injustice against them.

i've noticed that there are people who are quick to say, "aaron bushnell wasn't mentally ill!! he wasn't struggling!! look, he appeared to be completely fine!" in response to the people saying that he must've taken that act due to mental health struggles. and i understand the need to want to clarify that, because they are coming from a place that he did that from severe emotional distraught, not from a radical act of simply refusing to be complicit in genocide
however, none of us know for sure if he genuinely was mentally ill or not. trying to search and debunk to see if he was is a bit... i don't know. none of us were inside him or his brain.
and to be frank, why can't two things be true at once? why are people obsessed with opposing polarizing stances? (rhetorical question, because i know why)
he could've been suffering from depression, anxiety, or other forms of mental illnesses that he didn't talk about. to be quite honest, i don't know a single person living right now who isn't suffering & dealing with a mental illness in some way, shape, or form, not only from watching a genocide happen on their smart-phones, but also from the difficulties of trying to live under these systems. they intentionally have systems created that make us have mental or physical illnesses/symptoms, whilst simultaneously blaming it completely on us or our circumstances.
so yeah, he could've been so fed up emotionally and chose to take his life as a result. AND. he also did it for the radical love and rebellion for palestinians
i think what's frustrating me is that even if he was mentally ill, how he reacted was very valid. there's only so much that a human can fathom or take when it comes to these extreme forms of violence, and we all react in differing ways
and there also aren't enough conversations being had about how a lot of 'mental illnesses' develop as a result of the environment. what you're consuming. what you have no choice to be face to face with. so who wouldn't develop depression after seeing people getting massacred for months on end? who wouldn't go a little mad, a little insane, after seeing these countries, especially the one that you're serving for, provide direct funding and weapons to the mass amount of lives that you're seeing is being lost? and what is so bad about that? what is so bad about recognizing that a human could very well go 'insane' from witnessing severe amounts of injustice?
the point shouldn't be primarily focused on the fact of proving if he was mentally well or unwell. but i could easily argue that i doubt he was mentally well after seeing what's going on within this world. none of us are mentally well as a result of it. and sure, that may have pushed him to the brink of choosing to do self-immolation. but that doesn't somehow cancel or remove the fact that he also did it as a protest against genocide.

Some thoughts on A League of Nobleman! Spoilers for the series below the cut!
First off, this show is amazing and I highly recommend it to anyone looking for a show with tight pacing, GORGEOUS cinematography, amazing characters, and a great plot. There really isn’t much romance but it definitely feels implied.
I’m assuming you already know the basic of the plot so I’m just going to dive into my thoughts on the characters. One of my favorite things was the parallel between Lan Jue, Shulin, and Zhang Ping. 20 years ago a tragic incident affected these three men and they way they all reacted was amazing.
First lets talk about Lan Jue and Shulin (Gu Qing Zhang). Both were roughly around the same age when the tragedy occurred, both wanted revenge, but the way this shaped them was completely different. Lan Jue wanted justice, whereas Shulin wanted vengeance. And the way this differs is while Lan Jue was definitely into manipulating and stepping into gray areas he had a core of justice that he would NOT compromise. It literally almost broke his mind when he even considered going completely dark. Shulin on the other hand, went completely black and white. The world broke him and he was going to break the world in return. He wanted to destroy everything in the capital including innocent people. I do think there was a part of him that regretted it, when ZP was stabbed, when LJ “betrayed” him, when he wanted to save the baby but he was just too into the dark to see the light anymore. On a side note, the acting by Wang Duo here was amazing! You really felt for this character and even when you didn’t know he was the “villain” you knew he was up to something.
Now for Zhang Ping! He starts of very naive with a black and white view of the world. In his mind, there’s right and there’s wrong period inspired by his favorite book series Strange Tales, that you should always tell the truth. His parallel with Shulin takes on a different approach since ZP is unaware of how this tragedy effected him for most of the show. However, these two were raised together, by the same amazing woman, and the way they turned out so different reminds me of this quote I once read, “The same boiling water that softens the potato, hardens the egg.” And in that quote you can see how the world turned Shulin so hard that he refused to bend and ended up breaking, whereas ZP also saw the injustice in the world and his response was “I’m going to fix it.” A line I really loved is in the finale when Shulin was like I’m going to burn down this cruel world, ZP said “this world may be cruel but people like my mother live in it.” showing how he thought there was always light and the way to help the world was to make it shine brighter not try to get rid of the dark.
The conclusion reached in the end was great. I know some people were disappointed that the Empress’ crimes were never made public but that would’ve caused chaos in the world and that’s not what any of them wanted (other than Shulin.). I also love that in the end ZP understood that truth matters yes but you have to be careful on when you use the truth and sometimes a partial truth is better. I loved how ZP dismantled Shulin’s coup with the truth even if it wasn’t the whole truth. He kept pointing out the birth certificate is a fake, which it was, even though he had the real one that said the same thing.
I also want to talk about Mowen and the Emperor for a moment. I really loved Mowen’s character who was a blend of LJ’s justice and ZP’s truth. He really believed in LJ and was willing to bend rules and laws to help him achieve justice. But he also believed in doing the right thing such as volunteering for the war even though as someone pointed out being a police officer is different from being a solider. The Emperor is the same, he also believed in doing the right thing. When ZP questioned does it matter if the rumors are true, he replied “if I’m the Emperor I must lead the people for the good of the country. If I’m just a common man, I must still do the same.” Oh and Chen Chou, who’s kindness, hope, and compassion really helped ZP when he needed it the most. Out of all of them, CC was the only one who could’ve walked away at ANY time as he was not directly involved in the tragedy or the government but his love and loyalty would not let him.
Also, while there aren’t any main female characters the two we do get are amazing. The Empress is full of greed and corruption, she will not hesitate to kill her son even though she hates her fake son to keep her power and prestige. In the end she had no regrets because she got what she wanted.
ZP’s mother, was also great in the completely opposite way. Her strength was in her compassion and kindness. She raised those two boys with honor and kindness and when she saw that Shulin could be more she didn’t hesitate to reach out to try to get it for him even though that’s what started the whole tragic chain of events.
Basically, I really enjoyed the show! The complaints I have are few (I would’ve liked to know more about LJ’s wife and kid other than a couple of throwaway lines, more time with Mowen/LJ/ZP, and really just one more episode to wrap things up.)

What are all. ofthe reckless oc's trigger points? What makes them angry, sad or makes them go off?
Wade Travis:
He is hard to anger and trigger. He tries to be understanding and condescending person.
Trigger Points: Mockery of his paranormal beliefs, memories of his family
Reactions: Wade becomes frustrated and defensive when his interests in the paranormal are belittled or ridiculed. He tries to protect himself, but he is still passive about it.
Sylvester Collins:
Easy to get angry and have many triggers point. When angered, he might resort to verbal insults and even inflict harm, but solely directed at rival families and groups. After being angry, he can get very upset.
Trigger Points: Being underestimated or treated as weak, unwarranted attention or unwanted advances from others, confronting his vulnerabilities, disclosing his sexual orientation, encountering mockery or manipulation.
Reactions: In response to these triggers, Sylvester often feels a surge of frustration and anger. He may become defensive or attempt to assert his strength and authority to counter the underestimation. Unwanted attention or advances might lead to an intense discomfort, causing him react with irritation. Confronting vulnerabilities might result in a defensive stance or attempts to deflect the conversation. When encountering mockery, Sylvester might engage in a sharp retort to defend himself. Manipulative situations can lead to him growing cautious, trying to maintain control over the narrative and protect his own interests.
Ronald William King:
It's not easy to upset him so easily because he is a calm person by nature, but only if it's not someone he know. He might display passive aggression towards them, but he never insults anyone.
Trigger Points: Excessive intrusiveness, violation of rules and laws, dishonesty, violations of personal boundaries.
Reactions: When faced with trigger points like excessive intrusiveness, rule-breaking, dishonesty, and violations of personal boundaries, Ronald's reaction tends to be a of irritability. He's likely to confront the situation head-on, using his analytical skills and legal knowledge to address the issues and restore a sense of order and fairness. If necessary, he may resort to sharp words to protect his values and boundaries.
Asami Yano:
Seems so reserved… Seems to be a trap.
Trigger Points: Disloyalty, insubordination, challenges to her authority, personal attacks.
Reactions: Asami's anger surfaces when her leadership is undermined or questioned. She may display a stern demeanor, use calculated responses, or enforce her authority to maintain control. She will never show her true emotions, but her punishments will be the harshest.
Berta Vanzetti:
Berta is undoubtedly the quickest to succumb to anger and aggression among the characters. Her response is always swift and to the point. Notably, she's accustomed to settling matters using physical force.
Trigger Points: Threats to her, disrespect for her authority, betrayal, disregard for her opinions.
Reactions: Berta's reactions can range from confrontational and assertive behavior to taking immediate action to protect her loved ones or seek justice. She might not hesitate to use her physical strength or confrontational attitude to address the situation head-on.
Annette King:
If triggered, she will get upset and be sad rather than angry.
Trigger Points: Injustice, discrimination, harm to innocent people, failure to uphold the law, accusing her of childish and naive behavior, insulting her interests.
Reactions: Annette's trigger points would likely upset her. In response to situations involving injustice, discrimination, harm to innocent people, failure to uphold the law, accusing her of childish and naive behavior, or insulting her interests, she might feel a mix of anger, frustration, and disappointment. She may express her upset through vocal objections, shedding light on the issues at hand, and striving to make her stance known. Annette's emotional response would likely fuel her determination to stand up for what she believes in and work towards positive change.
Sophie Scarlett:
She has a rather restrained reaction. She never shows her feelings.
Trigger Points: Deception, endangerment of others, manipulation, revealing her secrets, displease from her colleagues and superiors
Reactions: Sophie's anger emerges when her undercover work is jeopardized or when those she cares about are at risk. She may become assertive, use her training to assess the situation, or seek solutions to protect her mission. If she is angry, then her anger is very restrained. After the anger is gone, she may become sad.
Daniel Harris:
It's such an unpleasant feeling… So why is he smiling? This character is the hardest to pull so easy of all.
Trigger Points: His background, accusation of unprofessionalism.
Reactions: He usually has a defensive reaction like a smile or some kind of mockery of himself, although he understands how uncomfortable he is at the moment. He is not aggressive at all.
Probably something like that. Over time, everything can change if the project is unfrozen.

Submission by Anon:
Scott conspired with Gerard Argent behind everyone’s back, told Gerard that Matt was the Kanima’s master (thus selling Matt and Jackson out to Gerard), and then tried – but failed – to murder Gerard using Derek’s body against his will. And Derek was never allowed to hold Scott accountable by Jeff Davis; just like Isaac was never allowed to react when Scott acted like a jealous asshole and repeatedly hit him because Isaac liked Allison, his ex girlfriend. Not to mention that Scott had zero problem working with Deucalion (who murdered Boyd, Erica and a shit tons of other people for power) to kill Josh and Tracy, just because it benefitted him. So Scott acting all morally superior and victim blaming Stiles for killing Donovan – a murderous wendigo who assaulted and actively tried to eat Stiles alive – in self defense is hypocrisy 101 and only proves Scott’s double standards. Not to mention that Stiles was the victim of Donovan’s brutal assault and of Theo’s blackmail: he’s not obligated to share his own traumas with Scott like Scott wanted and demanded. So Stiles choosing not to tell Scott about Donovan is both understandable and worthy of empathy.
Just because Scott is a “true alpha”  it doesn’t mean that his friends have to obey him or let him condemn them for something they didn’t even do and that was not their fault. Scott chose to think Stiles was a cold blooded monster and serial killer based on his own prejudice and on Theo’s words alone; Scott fell for Theo’s cheap lies since the very beginning and let Theo fool him; Theo played Scott like a kazoo; Scott flat out lied to Kira’s face about her fox spirit. That’s Scott’s fault, not Stiles’ nor anyone else’s. Scott’s own actions and words proved Stiles and Theo right in the end, that’s why he had to beg his friends to give him another chance (even though Jeff Davis didn’t make Scott work all that hard to get them back to be honest. He just made them accept Scott back because Scott needs them.)
Teen Wolf is an ensemble show. Stiles, Lydia, Allison, Derek and Kira are all lead and main characters in the series – Season 3B is entirely focused on Stiles and Void Stiles with Dylan O'Brien at its front and center, and it’s the highest rated and most critically acclaimed season of Teen Wolf. Their feelings and traumas are just as important as Scott’s. But some people (aka rabid Scott stans & apologists) keep acting like they aren’t and as if Scott’s butthurt is the only thing that matters for some reason – stooping as low as to blame other characters (mostly Stiles and Derek, the characters Scott/Posey stans have an obsessive hate boner for) for Scott’s own canon failures and shitty behaviour

In response to the above submission sent to me: You could’ve just messaged me. This submission feels as if you’re (… for lack of a better word) attacking me for already being on your side with the fact that due to the writing Scott is painted as if he’s got the highest moral point. I have at no point ever said that Scott was completely infallible because of his “True Alpha” status. I have however said that a lot of his trauma gets dismissed often and I think it’s something that should be spoken about. Scott can be both True Alpha and have Trauma that needs to be discussed.
If you’d like to speak about Scott and the bad writing of the show and how that way trauma, justice/injustice and morality is handled in the show, I am open to the discussion. You will not however act as if I have implied or stated that Scott was allowed to do whatever the fuck he wanted because he was a true Alpha. I have openly stated that his actions about the shit Theo told him and then his reaction to Stiles after the Donavon situation was a dick move and complete bullshit.
And Dear writer, I’ll call you D, if you don’t mind; if you’re going to submit something to someone without speaking to them prior, you might want to make sure your email isn’t attached to your ‘anonymous" submission because I now have your email address and know you like BTS. Please be safe on the internet. So to the person who submitted this, Please contact me to discuss this show. Otherwise, Don’t submit things without logging out first. If you’d like me to delete this submission, please contact me. Thank you.

&. PERSONALITY
Zodiac Sign: Aries
MBTI: ESFP  - ESFPs live in the moment, enjoying what life has to offer. They are especially tuned into their senses and take pleasure in the sights, sounds, smells, and textures around them. ESFPs like to keep busy, filling their lives with hobbies, sports, activities, and friends. Because they'd rather live spontaneously than plan ahead, they can become overextended when there are too many exciting things to do. An ESFP hates nothing more than missing out on the fun.Although they are characteristically fun-loving, ESFPs are also typically practical and down-to-earth. They are grounded in reality and are usually keenly aware of the facts and details in their environment, especially as they pertain to people. They are observant of others and their needs, and responsive in offering assistance. ESFPs enjoy helping other people, especially in practical, tangible ways.
Likes: fighting for justice, being underestimated (so they can prove them wrong later on), rain, having fun, rock/goth/metal/punk music (they know some of those genres don’t really work together, but Rah believes music has no affiliation and just needs to be heard), ignoring rules, freedom of choice, literally just fun and drinking, like give them a good time and they’ll be your bestie, debating
Dislikes: being ridiculed, injustice, large bodies of water they can’t really examine well (so seas, oceans etc) they much prefer swimming pools, all type of insects, the elite, the typical 9-5 work and their obedient zombies
Bad Habits: no filter, swears a lot
Secret Talent: great digital/traditional artist, lock picking, pretty convincing
Five Positive Traits: outspoken, venturesome, open-minded, passionate, fun-loving,
Five Negative Traits: unpredictable, provocative, gloomy, frivolous, impulsive
&. FAMILY INFORMATION
Parent Names: Marcello (taxi driver) & Gabriella (teacher), Viktoria (legal guardian since Rah turned 16, aunt)
Parent Relationship: They never understood why Rah acted the way they did, so they don’t have a good relationship and it’s all messed up from there, but Rah has a great relationship with their aunt from the Hamptons.
Sibling Names: one older brother, one older sister
Sibling Relationship: their relationship is good for the most part, they envy Rah for being so outspoken and being so willing to go for what they want and they never had the courage to do that themselves. Both are married and already have kids.
Children: none
Pets: A black cat named Salem
&. HOW THEY EMBODY THEIR TROPE.
Farah has no filter whatsoever, they love to be the center of attention or get others to react a certain way. They are all about being nonconformist, edgy, “not like the others”. While others might believe this to be a caricature of who they actually are, Rah really embodies the trope, enjoying everything out of the ordinary. They use their assertiveness to demand change on multiple topics such as politics, removing stereotypes and breaking barriers. Always true to themself, Rah considers their conservative background and how their parents tried to hide their child’s stubbornness to conform as one of the reasons they don’t do well with authorities. Their parents play no part in Rah’s life anymore and they began living with their aunt after turning sixteen. They want to define gender and rules for themselves without anyone interfering. On top of that, Rah doesn’t mind getting into trouble or even just being the odd one out if that means justice will be served. While certainly different in terms of  hobbies and behavior, they possess a good heart, that’s eager to prove themself in and around Ogden. For the most part misunderstood, all it takes for someone to take that brave step forward to actually get to know them and they’ll have found a friend and troublemaker for life.
&. ADDITIONAL TROPES
the cynic - determinator - dark messiah - perky goth
&. CHARACTER INSPIRATIONS.
Katniss Everdeen (THG), Daenerys Targaryen (GOT), V (V for Vendetta), Lucy Westenra (Bram Stoker’s Dracula), Robin Hood (Robin Hood)
&. RELATIONSHIP TO GREER.
Strained, but not terrible. They used to hang out together from time to time. Rah posed as an unusual friend for some time, occasionally hanging around Greer in secret. All began after Greer saw one of their portraits while Rah stayed with their aunt in Hampton beach. While they were drawing away, Greer approached them and they got along over the summer, meeting every now and then after realizing they liked the same band and Greer would sometimes ask for self-portraits of herself or other paintings (she then paid for). After talking some more, Rah eventually decided to follow Greer to Ogden, no matter what. In Ogden, however, their relationship just wasn’t the same anymore, but Rah didn’t mind considering they both had different goals and backgrounds to begin with.
&. SHORT BIOGRAPHY.
Even in their childhood Rah was fascinated with all things different and occult. From fantasy to more serious topics, they began to read about the world and other worlds, finding similarities everywhere they looked. As they began to drift into different sub-genres, trying to express themselves, Rah ended up fighting for several pressing issues, rebelling against the norm for a better future. It shaped their character immensely, turning them into a confident, courageous and non-conforming person with grey morals except when it came to social issues, justice and environmental issues. Their parents sent them to the Hamptons where they got to know Greer. They followed Greer to Ogden where their relationship just stopped, but they don’t mind.

“…To be relatively conscious is to be in a state of rage almost all of the time — and in one's work. And part of the rage is this: It isn't only what is happening to you. But it's what's happening all around you and all of the time in the face of the most extraordinary and criminal indifference, indifference of most [white] people in this country, and their ignorance.” – James Baldwin
There has been this sentiment and quote that has been on repeat in every fiber of my being for the last several years which has only been increasing with every single month that passes by. I’ve struggled to put these thoughts and feelings into words – especially in the context of what is happening in the Middle East. I recognize that what is happening in the Middle East is probably one of the /most/ polarizing issues my generation has ever experienced, and that it comes with 75+ years of history and complicated layers.
This isn’t something I will argue about over the internet, so I will just state the indisputable facts: over 27,000 innocent civilians have died with over half being women and children; hospitals, mosques, and schools have been bombed indiscriminately; 1.5 million people have been displaced from their homes; every single hour there are 42 bombs dropped and 12 buildings destroyed; and well over 94 journalists have been killed since October 7th, 2023 (Al Jazeera, Feb. 2024). This post isn’t necessarily about Israel and Palestine, but rather a reflection of the world’s response when faced with injustices and crimes against humanity.
Growing up, I have always held such a deep level of empathy that I didn’t know how to express, or even know /why/ I felt it so strongly in the depths of my heart. I’ve also felt such a strong sense of justice, and wanting to change the world for the better and help people in need however I could. I couldn’t understand why I shed so many tears for people I didn’t even know despite me living a very blessed and privileged life. It seems to feel like such a blessing and a curse to wear my heart on my sleeve. I wish I could voice my thoughts as clearly as I can write them, but I hope that others read this with an open heart and mind. And many will scroll past this, without a second thought. Or many will “react” to this post, but return to their normal lives – a life without a deeper level of empathy or critical thinking. I hope you continue reading though.
In various times of my life, I’ve struggled with balancing self-preservation and the weight of feeling like I have a moral responsibility to keep up with the world and fight for justice. Many people have told me, “just focus on the good things” or “focus on what you can control”. I agree with that – to a point. I didn’t know how to express my feelings of disagreement or even really put into words /why/ I felt that way. After a lot of personal reflection, and listening to other people’s stories as well as their own reflections, I feel like I can finally write that out in hopes that it sparks something in other people.
America has this deep sense of hyper-individualism. We tend to stick with what we know, within our established social circles, and turn ourselves away from crimes against humanity because it’s not directly affecting us. “It’s always been this way” or “there’s nothing you can do” is typically the first response. Look, I get it. It is /so/ exhausting to be conscious. It’s easy to stay in our little bubble, or wrap ourselves up in a burrito blanket and hide from the world because we can. For those of us who can do that, we need to acknowledge our privilege and sit in that discomfort – the discomfort of knowing that millions of people across the world are sick, injured, starving, forced to perform slave labor, or homeless while we have a warm meal in our belly and bed to rest in. I get the feeling of helplessness and thinking, I’m just one person…what can I even do?
We, as humans, are not obligated to do anything for anyone. There’s nothing that I can do to change anyone’s mind if they are set in their ways. There are too many people who refuse to do something for the collective good and be held accountable for being a part of the collective. However, do you find yourself asking why things like genocide, human trafficking, bigotry, violence, and extreme poverty exist? Do you find yourself complaining about our healthcare systems that care more about profit than the wellbeing of others, or complaining about the rate of inflation skyrocketing, or complaining that your taxes never seem to go towards improving your communities through social support services and infrastructure?
Did you know that the United Nations has recognized that the USA has shocking levels of poverty and conditions that could be considered on the same level as a third-world country now (UN Poverty Report, 2018)? These things are happening because we, as the collective, have stood there and allowed them to happen. And if you are not directly impacted by these things, then it won’t be long until it does, and it is incredibly unfortunate and disappointing that people won’t care until it negatively impacts their lives.
If all we ever do moving forward is focusing on the small amounts of good, and “just doing what we can”, then nothing will ever change and things will only get worse. By only doing that, this is why things are the way that they are today. This is also sometimes referred to as “toxic positivity” and “spiritual bypassing” in some spiritual circles. I’m not saying that we should get stuck in an endless loop of hopelessness by focusing only on the negatives and things completely out of our control. However, we do have more power together, as a collective, to enact radical changes that can improve the lives of us and for generations to come.
Side note: Did you know that according to the Center for Systemic Peace the USA was downgraded from a democracy to an anocracy in 2020? An anocracy is defined as a regime that is part democracy and part dictatorship. One could definitely argue it’s also an oligarchy where our politicians are merely puppets for our corporate overlords. That’s a discussion for another day though.
But Ky, I’m just one person, what can I /actually/ do and how can I even make a difference?  Start with educating yourself and diversifying your media and resources (ground.news is a great place to start) – get out of whatever echo chamber you’re in. Spread information and credible resources to others. Be willing to talk about uncomfortable topics with other people, even if your voice shakes. Stay up to date with any protests or actions (like boycotting) in your area or globally that are currently happening. Take care of yourself and take breaks when needed. Contribute and build mutual aid in your community. Join an activist group (I’ve joined 2) that can agree that in the long-run its us vs. the 1% and we need to collaborate with other groups on this. We only need 3.5% of the population that are organized and consistent in their activism to bring change (Chenoweth & Stephan, 2012).
For others who may need more tangible evidence that this is something that can actually be achieved, I ask you to look into the revolution of Puerto Rico in 2019. For 10 straight days, the people of PR banded together to protest and call for the resignation of their President for the corruption that has run rampant for several years. The Colectiva Feminista en Construcción was the first activist group to spark the protest and gathered many other activist groups to stand together as one at the White House equivalent capitol in PR every single day. All of these groups united as one and agreed that the goal was the President’s resignation. 1 million Puerto Ricans even shut down a major highway together. The President ultimately resigned. However, they were not consistent once this resignation happened to keep advocating for a better society, and they ended up in a worse position than before. The people of PR are now working again together to enact more long-term positive changes.
I will not be arguing about this in my comments on who or what is right or wrong. I will not be engaging with people who are committed to misunderstanding me or they are committed to staying within their own bubble. I will not be responding to people trying to assert their political ideologies or opinions onto a certain situation because this is about being a human and reviving your sense of humanity. If this “triggers” you, or hits a nerve, or you immediately want to engage negatively – stop and reflect on why you feel this way. I’m asking to challenge you and your privilege of looking away. Please stop looking away before it’s too late.
I know that I’ve always been “too weird” or “too much” for other people, and now, I just don't care anymore about trying to be perceived as “normal”. It feels like I’ve been screaming to the people I know and love for years that have locked themselves away in a glass box with their backs turned against the world. Screaming for them to care, to do something, to do /anything/. I don’t care if this post gets zero traction. I need to say this for my own peace of mind while I continue to do the work of waking people up, and doing whatever I can to make my community, and the world, a better place. Someone very wise and very dear to me has told me many times that “we are many, we are one” – community is resistance.

ARE YOU OFFENDED?
Tumblr media
I like to find or make funny memes and post them in the Porn Addiction Counseling – Reboot Facebook group about once a week. Like a lot of others, I find that humor is a great way to cope with topics and experiences that can be difficult and painful at times. So our weekly memes are something that brothers in the group often look forward to.
A couple of weeks ago I made a meme that I thought was pretty funny. It was a picture of Mr. Clean, that bald white mascot for a cleaning company, wringing water out a sponge. The caption on the image said, “Your wife’s panties after hearing you decided to quit pornography and join Porn Reboot.”
It was pretty hilarious if I do say so myself, and lots of guys in the group thought it was great, too. We spent so many years more interested in porn than sex with our wives or partners. Lots of us struggled with porn-induced erectile dysfunction, too. No wonder our spouse is excited when we’re finally ready to quit porn. And any man with the same experience can relate.
But some brothers had some choice words in response.
“Bad. Just bad.”
“What little interest I had in joining your program is gone now.”
“Completely unprofessional.”
“Do you wanna be taken seriously?”
“You charge folks for porn reboot coaching and you post this crap?”
“Apologize to the group and take it down right now.”
I was astounded at how many people were offended by a simple joke. I didn’t think it would cause that much of a problem. But it also got me thinking about what being offended by things means at a deeper level.
It reminds me of when I was a confused Catholic guy in my 20s. During my freshman year of college, I remember watching drunk girls come home with a guy and judging them. Night after night I sat with my friends calling these women all sorts of names, but then went back to my dorm room and angrily jerked off at the same girls I judged.
I judged women I couldn’t be with. I judged comedians who made vulgar jokes on late-night television about different actresses and celebrities. And then I would masturbate while thinking of whatever woman made me angry earlier.
Over time I realized that I wasn’t actually angry at these women or those jokes.
I was really just angry at myself.
I was upset at my lack of sexual control and how quickly I betrayed my perceived values. Those things that I thought made me angry really just aroused shame, guilt, and jealousy. It wasn’t the world that had the problem, it was me. I was the one with a messed-up view of the world, looking at everything through the lens of my porn-addled brain.
Lots of the men in the Porn Reboot program grew up in households held together by Catholicism or Christianity. We weren’t taught that sexual jokes are okay. And then our closet porn addiction stunted our ability to relate with women, but we believed our lack of sexual experience was their problem.
I spent so much time placing blame on others that I never bothered to consider the common denominator every time I was offended: me. I was the one finding fault in everything when really I was the one at fault.
I imagine the brothers who lashed out at the simple, silly meme I posted are dealing with something similar. Many of us share similar experiences and they’re probably dealing with underlying self-loathing, shame, and guilt. They haven’t yet employed the tools we use in the Porn Reboot program to determine the source of these feelings.
Instead, they lash out at perceived offenses or injustices. They allow external circumstances to dictate their internal condition. And I know from experience because I did the same thing. Thankfully, I learned to respond to situations and circumstances, not react. It isn’t an overnight process but it’s possible.
If you’re struggling with finding offense in everything around you, then your reboot will help. Porn Reboot is about so much more than pornography. Sure, porn addiction is what gets you in the door but you’ll find more than that waiting for you once you commit to the process. Freeing yourself from the need to feel offended is one of the most important things you can do. Join us today and find out for yourself just how incredible that freedom can be.

What Are the Signs That I Might Need Anger Management?
Tumblr media
Anger is a natural emotion, but when you let your anger spill over in hurtful ways, it’s not healthy nor productive. Dealing with your angry emotions is key to better relationships and peace in your own life.
Speaking with a psychotherapist can help you learn more about your anger and teach you better ways to express your anger. Getting professional help with anger management in Ottawa can help you respond more effectively and calmly when you do get angry.
1. What are the four stages of anger?
For most people, anger comes in different intensities. The first stage is annoyance. You might be annoyed because someone crossed a boundary or acted inappropriately. You can also experience anger when you’re impatient or hungry.  Next comes frustration, this is when the annoyance becomes more bothersome and causes your stress levels to rise. The third stage is hostility. At this stage, you don’t tolerate frustrating events. The fourth stage of anger is rage. You’re completely out of control and blow up at the slightest annoyance.  You may experience your body physically reacting when you get angry.
2. What level of anger is normal?
Each person experiences anger differently, not only due to the circumstances and the situation, but also due to their own anger threshold. The person who normally doesn’t get angry in traffic jams may have a different reaction if they are in an accident or if they feel they are being treated unfairly. Getting angry over an injustice may be warranted, when getting angry over your co-worker taking the last donut could be detrimental. Anger isn’t a bad emotion; it’s how we react that gets us into trouble in our personal relationships or in other situations.
3. What happens when you get angry too much and too often?
Constantly getting angry and exploding in rage, can cause health problems, such as high blood pressure, insomnia, and heart attack from the stress. If you aren’t dealing with anger in appropriate ways, it will damage your relationships. Explosive, bottled or repressed anger can lead to depression, or you may vent your anger at innocent victims, such as your partner, kids or pets or even strangers.
4. What are some proven ways to manage anger?
Anger is a signal that something is wrong. It’s a normal emotion when you can process it and handle it in a healthy manner. If you are feeling out of control, it is probably a sign that you need anger management in Ottawa. When you start to feel angry, it is OK to step back from the situation, take a few minutes, and work on managing your emotions.
Step back and count to 10     before responding.
Use your words to embrace the     conflict with another person. Constructive criticism can often lead to     positive results.
Talk to a psychotherapist,     psychologist, social worker, or spiritual leader to help you deal with     your emotions.
5. What are the recognized levels of anger management?
Understanding the cycle of anger can help you understand your reaction to handle the situation more effectively. The anger cycle includes: trigger, escalation, crisis, recovery, and depression. Recognizing where you are in the cycle can help you take a step back before exploding and hurting others. Understanding what triggers your anger is an important step to managing your anger.
6. How can therapy and counselling help with anger management?
A therapist or counsellor is a valuable resource to help you manage your emotions and control your responses. Your therapist can help you develop coping skills that you can use in the moment to regulate your temper. You may also work with a therapist in Ottawa to help you change your unhealthy thought patterns that may fuel your anger. Talk therapy can help you with anger management.
7. What is the best treatment for anger?
There is no cure for anger itself. When anger reaches the point that you are out of control, anger management can help you become less reactive to the situation. Therapy can help you improve your communication skills, emotional regulation, and focus on problem-solving instead of getting angry. Working with a therapist can help you meet your goals quicker than trying to manage your anger on your own.
8. Why is anger considered a secondary emotion?
Secondary emotions are those that are fueled by other emotions. Anger is often a reaction to fear or emotional pain. It’s easier to respond with anger than to deal with the primary emotion. When you feel angry, you feel more in control. Fear, grief, and loss make us feel more vulnerable. Anger management can help you deal with the primary emotion so you can better deal with your anger.
9.Counselling in Ottawa Can Help with Anger Management
