Hello Mr. Gaiman, 

I am working on a research paper about your short story “Snow, Glass, Apples”. For the class, we have to compare a traditional tale (in this case the Grimm’s Snow White) and a variation of that tale (“Snow, Glass Apples”). Obviously, the original tale has the Queen as a much more sinister and narcissistic character. She does many things that are stereotypically evil and witchy. In your rendition, she is not only a better human being but her witchy practices are more closely aligned with historically accurate witches. What inspired you to take a less stigmatized approach to the Queen? 

Because the whole story depends on upending the story and making Snow White the villain and the Queen the heroine. If that didn't work there wouldn't be a story.

Hot take but Apple should have worn her glasses. I know that she’s embarrassed by it but it would have been more empowering that the perfect princess who everyone loves and deems beautiful wears her glasses constantly and it’s not seen as a big deal

Headcanon that the reason why Atsushi’s eyes are purple and yellow is because the yellow part of his eyes is his ability. He was born with bad eyesight and couldn’t see shit so the tiger manifested itself in Atsushi’s eyes to fix his eyesight but now he’s also colorblind.

And then for Atsushi’s first month and a half of working at the agency every time Dazai makes direct skin to skin contact with Atsushi his vision gets 10x worse. And Atsushi’s too scared to point it out at first but eventually he’s like “hey guys every time Dazai touches me I can’t see and also I start seeing new colors what’s wrong with me”

Eventually they all figure it out and get Atsushi a pair of glasses so that he can turn off his ability every once and awhile, Atsushi also ends up learning how to drive because Kunikida and Yosano can’t just be the agency’s chauffeurs and even though he can only drive if he turns off his ability and puts on his glasses it’s still really funny to say that a colorblind teenager can drive better than 90 percent of the agency.

#further more the reason Kyoka drives in dead apple is because Atsushi broke his glasses #also every time Atsushi sees something he doesn’t want to the yellow in his eyes disappears #I didn’t include this part of the headcanon in the main post but also #the yellow half of his eyes are naturally red when his ability is deactivated #because people with albinism have red or purple eyes depending on how much blue tint there is in their eyes #so he has both #bsd #idk #atsushi nakajima #bsd atsushi #nakajima atsushi #bungou stray dogs #on the floor wallowing in pain as we speak #bungo stray dogs #bsd headcanons
