Levi with Twin Daughters Headcanons
Tumblr media
➼ absolutely SPOILS them. like if it's a modern!au, he'll be at the store with them because you had to work and he offered to take them grocery shopping so you wouldn't have to worry about a sitter, and he figured that since it's just groceries, they wouldn't be too whiney about not getting a toy. although he says no at first because they already have a shitton of toys at home, as soon as they collectively say "daddy please", he gives in, and whatever caught their eye is coming home with him
➼ they'll learn very quickly how to tug at levi's heartstrings. if they ask you for something and you say no and won't budge, you can be fairly certain that they're going to run to levi and ask for the exactly same thing and 80% of the time, they can rope him into saying yes
➼ when you catch them giving him a tough time and give them the talk, he'll give you an exasperated look afterwards, waving off your own look of skepticism when he denies spoiling them. if you mention them being whiney just to get his attention or get him to do something, he'll immediately point out that they got that trait from you
➼ around the age of 5-10 is the worst for him. that's the age in which they are MASTER manipulators of him. they know how to tug at his heart strings, are able to pick up what things he'll say yes to when you'll say no and although he's constantly telling them to quit pestering you when you say no, he already internally knows that it's only a matter of time before they turn around and try to get him to say yes
➼ they're constantly competing for his attention. if one brings home a good grade from school and shows him, the other has to one-up them and show off her grade too. although levi makes it quite blatant that he'll love them regardless of their individual accomplishments, they look up to him quite a bit and will always want to bring something home to impress him.

Aot characters when you accidentally swear "fu*k you"
sammary: You swear accidentally in front of them.
warning: slightly mature contents
characters: eren, armin, levi, reiner, zeke, porco, erwin
Eren
You were so tired after the mission and just wanted to relax. But then one of your teammate just came to tell you like there is another mission in urgent. You are so so exhausted and accidentally swore like "omg f*ck that!" And Eren who was next to you heard it and looking at you in his eyes wide open. You just awkwardly smile him back and felt so embarassed when he gave you back a small dirty smirk.
Armin
You were hurriedly eating during your short breaktime. Suddenly the bell rang and you had to go back but your food wasn't finished yet so you told yourself like 'I really hate it! F*ck you whoever rang the bell!" And then you realized Armin was sitting beside you, and he is now starring at you. You starred him back and asked him "What??" and he replied "Ahh-- nothing... nothing at all" but you could scene that he really wanna laugh. Your face turned red and you just ran away. "I will remember that (y/n)!" he yelled and you could hear from outside. You can't help but smile and blushed.
Levi
You were cleaning the windows because levi told you to and you couldn't deny him so you just have to put up with it. "F*ck you! I joined scout not the cleaning service or anything like that" you said as you knew no one would be in the room. "Who do you mean?" you heard a similar voice. Your heart sank. IT IS LEVI STANDING BEHIND YOU! You slowly turned around your head and gave him a grumpy smile as you said "Levi heichou???" And he just stand there still and looked at you like you almost felt that your soul left. "W-why are you here?" you asked as you just want to dig a hile and disappear right away. After a while he answered "That's none of your business brat" as he went to sit on sofa and you just continued to work but later when you looked at him again you caught him already looking at you. So you smiled at him and do the work back and again you saw levi still looking at you. You smiled back him again. Then he started to speak. "You know what-- Let's do as you say, cadet?" he said as he suspiciously smiled. "I just said f*ck--" you said as you realized "omg no!"
Reiner
You were carrying lots of books in your hand and struggling to balance it and Reiner bumped into you. "Oh my gosh! F*ck you dude!" you said as you didn't realized it was Reiner. You bent down to collected them and he helped you out. You looked up him and you were so embarassed. "Reiner?" you gasped. He slightly smirked at you and told you "I didn't know you would swear" You were so embarassed. "I- I didn't mean to" you replied as you quickly got up. He pinned you to the wall. "Do as you say then" he whispered as he touched your skin playfully. You are so blushing and then the rest is as you could imagine. ;))
Zeke
Someone threw you with a baseball from behind. You thought it was your friend so you swore her "F*ck you! Don't do that!" without looking back. "But I will always get revange" you giggled and threw the ball back to that person. And you were so amazed as it was Zeke when you turned back! "What are you doing here, Yeager-sama??" you asked him in shock. He just smirked at you and came closer to you. "You know what happened if you insult an honored marleyan?" he said as he garbbed your waist. "But you are lucky that I like you. Among all the warrior candidate, you just caught my attention and I want you" he mumbled as he kissed your neck. You just lost all your words and couldn't believe what just happened.
Porco
You were not in a good mood after the failed mission. You are so mad at yourself and then Porco knocked at your door. "Not now Porco! I'm not in the good mood!" you shouted at him but still he brusted in. "Oh my god! Didn't I tell you not to mess with me this time?! Leave me alone! F*ck you! F*ck everyone!" you yelled and suddenly you couldn't help but you found yourself crying. Tears flows from your eyes helplessley. Surprisingly Porco hugged you. "I never thought you would swear like that" he giggled. "But it is the best to let all your feeling out. I'm always here for you" You were so surprised that he could suddenly be so warm. You just felt safe with him. You cried on his shoulder until you felt better.
Erwin
Hange told you to deliver some papers to Erwin's office. You went in and he seemed so busy so you just decided to put it on the other table not distrubing him and then when you stepped forward you almost slipped because of the water spilled there. "Oh f*ck it!" you whispered. Erwin glanced at you from other side. "What did you just say?" he asked. You laughed awkwardly. "I didn't say anything. Did I?" He smiled in not innocent way. "I heard you swear. I don't think it is appropriate to swear in front of your upper, does it?" he said. You looked at him and shook your head. "Good" he stood up. "What should I do to you about that?" he asked as he came closer to you.

The Butterfly Effect [Levi x Reader]: Chapter 1
Hey y’all, here’s the first chapter of my story I’m currently writing.
“Hey miss, another round!”
“Two more over here as well.”
“Be with you in just a second,” you tossed casually over your shoulder as you filled yet another martini glass to the brim. The warmth of the bodies crowding the bar and softness of the dimmed light enveloped your body as you worked, while loud music and chatter floated around you and up to the ceiling as you continued pouring and mixing tirelessly. This night felt as if it would never end.
Make no mistake, you loved working nights at the local pub – you were one hell of a bartender – but there were some nights where your shift seemed to drag on and on.
After what seemed like an eternity, you enviously watched the final remaining couples saunter out into the gusty October night; their flushed faces boasting hues of satisfying liquor and cuisine. You sighed and averted your gaze from their silhouettes huddled together as the front door slammed shut behind them and glared at your distorted face in the glass you were currently polishing, suddenly feeling an unwanted emptiness creep into your heart.
“Leave that to me Kat. You need to go home and get your rest,” Natalie appeared behind you, nearly causing you to drop the glass in your hands. Your co-worker and close friend snickered at your clumsiness and snatched the glass and towel from your hands, all but pushing you out the door.
“Thanks Nat, I’m exhausted,” you smiled gratefully at her and proceeded to the kitchen to say goodnight to the chef; as was good restaurant etiquette. “Have a good night Joseph!” you waved at him and threw the back door open, finally free.
“Be careful! Drive safe!” he called after you, his voice faintly travelling through the already closing door behind you.
“Always am,” you muttered to no one in particular as you made your way to the car. The cold, harsh northern climate made you regret leaving your cozy bar, the wind tearing through your jeans and thin shirt.
‘Almost there’, you thought to yourself as your feet dragged on through the final stretch to your car in the far lot. Had you not have had your head downcast and hood shielding your face from the wind, you might have noticed the figure slouched against the fence to your right.
“Fuck,” you cursed as your boot caught something and you stumbled forwards, nearly steadying your footing in time before falling completely. “What the hell?” you exclaimed quietly as you turned to investigate what had caused you to trip, only to find a man sitting slumped, unconscious against the parking lot fence. “Hey, buddy,” you lightly nudged the end of his tall boot with the toe of your own. “Come on, I don’t have time for this. Do you want me to call you a cab?” you said coldly, having been fed up with dealing with drunks for one night. “Seriously, wake up. You’re gonna freeze out here.” You informed, eyeing his thin clothes and . . . cape? Examining his attire more thoroughly, you realized just how strangely this man was dressed. Still not receiving a response, you decided to pat him down to check and see if he had a wallet or phone, or at least something that could help identify him. You gasped aloud when you felt a hand dart out and grasp your wrist with a surprising amount of force.
“What do you think you’re doing?” a deep, monotone voice questioned.
“I’m just trying to help. Do you have someone you can call?” you asked. The figure in front of you offered no response but the grip on your wrist did not loosen. You were suddenly very aware of the fact that you were in an unlit parking lot alone with a complete stranger. “Look, it’s two in the morning and I don’t know what you’re doing passed out in a parking lot, but can you at least tell me where you live or the name of someone – ”
“Who the hell are you?”
“My name’s Katarina. I don’t see why that matters. Now, if you could just –”
“I don’t need your help,” he said flatly, cutting you off again. You pinched the bridge of your nose in frustration and exhaled deeply, lifting your eyes back up to his face. You were shocked to discover that he was staring intently back at you, confusion clouding his piercing grey eyes.
“Okay fine,” you huffed. “At least let me give you the extra coat in my car. You’re going to catch a cold in whatever the hell you’re wearing. What kind of outfit is that? Halloween isn’t for another 17 days – was there some sort of convention or something? Because it’s not bad cosplay, I’ll give you that,” you joked, trying to lighten the mood. Your efforts were futile however, and a pang of worry hit you when you saw that he had no idea what you were talking about.
“I could ask you the same thing,” he said, eyeing your own revealing clothing. You shivered, feeling the heat of his intense gaze sweeping over you.
“Do you have a phone to call a cab?” you pressed, ignoring his comment. He simply raked his hand through his raven fringe and averted his eyes, avoiding your stern gaze. Genuinely concerned for his safety, you tentatively asked “Do you know what I’m talking about?” Again, no response. “Do you know what a phone is?” Nothing. “Do you know what a cab is?” Silence. “Are you suffering from amnesia?”
“Something like that,” he whispered and released his death grip on your wrist, “Just leave me alone,” he spat, turning his head to once more look back into your eyes. Although he was very guarded and standoffish, you could sense his underlying fear and uneasiness and were genuinely concerned for him. You pondered over what you should do. You couldn’t very well just leave him here, could you? He didn’t seem like he had bad intentions.
‘I’m such a fucking idiot. Always the martyr’, you inwardly kicked yourself for what you were about to say.
“Can you stand on your own? I can take you back to my place – just for the night so you don’t die out here in the cold,” you offered your hand to him, but he slapped it away and slowly pulled himself off the gravel, leaning heavily on the fence for support. He just stood for a minute unmoving, and looked you up and down as if weighing his options carefully.
“I don’t need the help of some girl, let alone one dressed like that. You should be careful of who you just invite back to your home,” he said in a judging tone.
“Yeah, sure,” you waved his rude comment away, “I’ll pretend I didn’t hear that because you obviously are in need of help and are either too stupid or too stubborn to ask for it.” You began to make your way to your car, half hoping he’d follow, and half hoping he’d walk in the other direction. After a few agonizing seconds you heard the crunch of gravel under his boots as he followed behind you. You reached your car and unlocked the front doors, grateful to get out of the cold. Another few seconds passed before you realized the man was standing outside the passenger door with a baffled expression on his face; he was staring at your car as if he’d never seen one in his life.
“For fuck’s sake; what the hell am I getting myself into?” you cursed under your breath and reached awkwardly across the console of the car to pull the handle and swing open the passenger door. The man climbed into the seat, looking more confused than ever. He regarded the dash of the car along with all the different buttons and knobs with scrunched eyebrows and a frown.
“You better put your seatbelt on,” you told him while gesturing towards his seat. When he just stared blankly at you, you let out a frustrated huff and reached over once more to grab his seatbelt and click it into place. The man just stared straight ahead with a menacing scowl plastered on his face to mask the slight blush you could barely make out in the dark car, obviously embarrassed that he needed help with something such as a seatbelt – or so you thought.
“So you got a name?” you asked while you busied yourself with adjusting the heater and putting the car into gear. You figured he at least owed you that. When the vehicle lurched into motion, his hands darted out to grip the dash of the car, uncertainty and fear etched into his pale features. You simply sighed and continued driving; you were almost used to his silence and strange behaviour by now.
“Levi.”
“Nice to meet you Levi,” you smiled warmly at him.
“Tch,” he examined you with cold eyes and turned his head away from you to peer out the window.
The rest of the half hour car ride continued in this fashion. The silence wasn’t all that bad though; you almost appreciated it after the rowdiness of the pub. A little ways into the trip, Levi seemed to finally relax slightly into his seat which put you at ease.
“This is me,” you pointed to the small apartment complex that grew taller in the windshield as you pulled closer into your parking space. The jingle of your keys echoed loudly in the empty stairwell as you climbed towards your destination. Reaching your apartment door, you jammed the key into the door and kicked it open, longing to get off your aching feet after a long shift. You turned around to see Levi standing hesitantly in the doorway. “What do you think?” you asked, sweeping your arms in a grand gesture around your small, underwhelming studio apartment.
“It’s a shit mess,” he stated curtly, eyes sweeping around carefully with a judging expression. There was something else behind those eyes . . . surprise? Confusion? Astonishment?

All Characters, the Nicknames MC has For Them, and the Events That Follow: A Wholly Unnecessary Thread
Tumblr media
Warnings: None, unless you count demon boys being butthurt about being called out
Enjoy my stupidity!
Lucifer👿🖤🥀☕🍷
Luci
Pridey Pants
Gordon Ramsey of Life
Mom
Loosen-up Luci
Jesus's emo brother
*cough* Daddy *cough*
The results of these nicknames....they were not pretty. MC calls him Luci? He doesn't LOVE it. Does that small scary smile that MC knows (or should know) not to push.
Pridey pants...ohhh boy. MC says it at dinner....is absolutely terrified when he doesnt do anything. After dinner, follows MC into the hallway to dole out *ahem* punishment
Beel is the only one to understand the Gordon Ramsey one. Starts booming laughter
Mom. Oho. This is the second worst. Happened when MC asked Luci to pass them a steak knife. Ended up with the knife being thrown into the table, inches from MC's hand.
Ah. The worst one. Jesus's emo brother. He doesnt even know where to begin. The brothers AND Diavolo have to SPRINT away to keep from cackling like crazed lunatics. Simeon is the only one who openly laughs. Kitchen duty for 2 months. Absolutely worth it. Would do it again without hesitation.
Mammon💛💵💰💳
Mammory Gland
Finding Nemo Seagull (Mine! Mine!)
Crow
Tan Elsa
Greedo
General Greedous
"Ehhhhh? What's a mammary gland?"
*muffled Satan laughter*
Mc has to explain the crow one, because apparently it isnt common knowledge that crows love shiny things?
Tan Elsa. Levi was crying when this one slipped out of MC's mouth. All Mammon could do was be offended. After much, MUCH coaxing, reluctantly agreed to dance to "Let it Go" in a dress.
Levi💜🐍🎮🕹
Has a thing for degradation, so you can really only insult him with anime stuff
Levi Heichou (if you get this, we can be friends)
Leviathan the lonely
Snake man
Mermaid Boy
Snekky snek
Levia-hand
He could ignore all of them.....except for
LEVIA-HAND
I mean come on!
"MC did you really have to go there? That was really-"
"Below the belt?"
"UGH MCCCCC"
*distant suggestive Asmo noises*
Satan💚💢📚
Angry bean
Grumpy kitty
Nerd
Angry librarian
Blond, angsty James Charles
Fashion disaster
There isn't a single one of these that DOESNT make Satan want to break something.
Who is James Charles? Fashion disaster?! "I happen to dress very nicely, thank you very much"
"How am I a librarian? I just read, it's very different, honestly MC"
Refuses to even acknowledge "grumpy kitty"
Asmodeus😘💋❤💅
Asmo-dick-us
Ass-mo
Momo
Polly Pocket
The kinky one
*jokingly* slutttttt
He, surprisingly, doesn't mind any of them. He thinks it's really cute that MC has nicknames for him. He always encourages you to call him them more often, and even makes a bunch of them for MC. His favorite one is Momo, because:
"Its just so cuuuuuuute!"
Beel🥺🍔💪🏻
Sexy Vacuum man
The last Weasley
Snack Buddy
Hungry Bean
Un-beel-eavable
These all make the boy SO HAPPY
MC cares enough to make nicknames for him?
*happy Beel noises*
Wait. MC thinks he's sexy?😳
What's a Weasley?
He has a snack buddy?☺☺☺
Belphie🙁💭💤🛏
Sloth man
Sleepyhead
That bastard with a choking kink
Killer grip
The emo twin
Black Sheep
"I woke up like this" master
He wants to be mad. He really does. But there's a problem: he can't argue with ANY of them. Kinda makes him smile just a LITTLE
Is glad MC has forgiven him enough to actually JOKE about the choking incident.
Spends a lot of time trying to get someone to explain what "emo" means. Levi knows what it means, and refuses to tell him because he thinks its funnily accurate
Dia👑💮🔥
Double D Dia
Big Tiddy Divvy
King of the Boobs
Díablo
Milk man
Firehead
The rich, gay uncle
There isnt a single minute he doesn't find these hysterical. He thinks it's a charming human world custom, to give someone a nickname. He also thinks it shows how comfortable with him MC is.
His favorite is easily DD Dia. Mc noticed his body? *smirk* interesting
Why are so many of them boob related? MC does realize he is a male, right?
The rich, gay uncle. Diavolo has no words. Absolutely shook.
Lucifer overheard some of these...was appalled MC was harassing the PRINCE with their ridiculous nicknames.
He was about to go off on a terrified MC, when Diavolo stepped in laughing and told Lucifer....
"Calm down, Mom."
Mc nearly choked on their own suppressed laughter
Barbatos had to quickly usher them away so MC could openly laugh and therefore breathe
Barbatos 🧐👀🐀🕓
Barbie
Simply one hell of a butler
Sebas-chan
Time warp man
Chuck E Cheese
The cake maker
Understands every single reference, is actually surprisingly cool with it, as long as MC doesn't embarrass him with it.
Diavolo catches wind of what MC is calling Barbaties, eventually starts adopting the nicknames
The only one Barbatos doesn't like is "Chuck E Cheese", because he hates rats so so much. How dare they compare him to one of those disgusting creatures?
Simeon🌙🤍🌹🌈
Boomer
Dad joke central
Beautiful man
Sinful shoulders
Angel Dad
Sin-ammon Roll
Simeon can't decide between being flattered or appalled. He's not THAT old. Nor is he a father! Well, maybe more of a father figure in regards to Luke, but still! He doesn't tell THAT many dad jokes.. right?
Blushes intensely at Beautiful man and Sinammon roll. Wonders if MC really means that or is just teasing him.
Eventually he makes the stupid decision to ask Asmo....wrong move. Asmo ends up laying out all of Simeon's desires towards MC, the week following he can't even look MC in the face. MC has no clue what happened and starts to think it was their fault.
They confront Simeon about it after a while, and Simeon full on breaks and confesses to MC
Asmo takes full credit for this happening
Solomon😑🖤💫🧙🏻‍♂️
Shady Lady
The sus one
Kinky dude
Draco malfoy
Doesn't mind MC having insulting nicknames for him....he has them too. Starts swapping them with MC to see who can make the other laugh harder.
Sometimes, the brothers will sit in and listen while they exchange them, and they'll keep score and vote on who wins
Eventually, Diavolo and Simeon get involved
Barbatos caters these events
Luke😇👶🏼🌸🧁
Baby angel
Son
Woof
Puppy
Little doggo
The poor boy has no idea which one he hates more. Gets so flustered whenever MC calls him one of these that his whole face turns red
Simeon tells him its adorable every time without fail
This makes Luke even worse. All MC has to do is call Luke one of the names and its fair game for Luke hunting
The only one he actually...kind of...likes is Son. He likes the idea of MC as a parent figure.
Which leads him to realize: what if MC and Simeon got together! Then MC WOULD be his parent
Gets Solomon and Barbatos to help bring MC and Simeon together
They end up bombarding the two with an obnoxious Valentine's day-esque cake
Did it work?

Chapter 2
Chapter 3
Chapter 4
Chapter 5
Chapter 6
Chapter 8
Warnings: MINORS DO NOT INTERACT (im watching you, if you see this, begone!), MILD SPOILERS, also this is a sequel, the first work is here. (I promise it's good, the formatting of the origi post is just a little plain cause I hadn't figured out what I liked yet). There's some... stuff in this, idk, its nothing much but check the description or ao3 tags if you're not sure of how you feel about dads who are Assholes, lots of angst because yours truly is a masochist :)
Description:
Levi returns from the war with a broken body only to have his heart broken as well when he finds (Y/N) has gone away from her father's farm never to return or so much as remember his name- or so her father says. (Y/N), recently returned from a medical emergency in a neighboring village, is informed of her lover's death, and the ensuing grief is almost too much to bear.
Months later, (Y/N) finds herself trapped in her father's house, and Levi finds a very interesting ad in the personals column of the newspaper. Letter-writing shenanigans ensue, and Gabi and Falco get ideas.
Ao3 link here
Chapter 1
The moment the conflict ended and Levi was mended enough to travel, he belligerently insisted to be taken to see (Y/N) until the brats collectively decided to convince Armin to allow the trip back across the sea. However, Armin— who was now the head brat— had been vehemently against the idea of Levi returning back to Paradis even at the request of his comrades, especially since the Jaegerists had left their mark on the public enough to poison them against the rest of the Corps, but after Levi’s bitching and that of the two most unlikely allies he had made for his cause, the newly-minted Commander of the Survey Corps was left no choice but to give in lest he be plagued by malcontent to the point of near-mutiny by one incapacitated old man and two loud, annoying children.
“It’s for true love, Armi— I mean, Danchou!” Falco had insisted, his eyes shining as he pleaded.
“Besides,” added Gabi, ever practical, “Levi-heichou has little to no chance of ever finding someone to like him again if he misses this chance. He’s mean and grumpy, and this girl already likes him even so! How is he gonna find that elsewhere?”
Levi didn’t know whether to be offended by their disparaging description of him, or to be relieved that they had each neglected to mention the pitiful state of his body. He knew what he looked like right now; his face was a mess of stitches and scarring, his body was mangled, and there was a chance that he would never walk again. He was damaged goods now, and he could count himself lucky if (Y/N) wasn’t horrified just by looking at him.
She would never be, said a still, small voice in the back of his mind. She loves you— you do her an injustice by even thinking such a thing.
Still, the thought was there, grating at him like a piece of sand stuck in the crack of his ass— and so it was with a mix of joy and trepidation that he accepted Armin’s permission to return to Paradis under strict orders to remain discreet.
“It seemed like a much shorter ride the first time around,” grumbled Gabi as the flying boat glided above the sea that stretched between Paradis and the mainland. “Now it’s taking forever .”
Levi couldn’t help but grin. Armin had attached Gabi and Falco as conditions to Levi’s permission to return to Paradis, allegedly to have someone “keep an eye on him,” but the truth was that the Survey Corps was woefully short on manpower, and putting Gabi and Falco’s talents to use was far too tempting for them to remain as a factor on the mainland. They might have been soldiers for Marley, but they were still children by anyone’s standards; they had no place in the post-war cleanup that the 104th would be taking care of— and besides, Levi was still confined to his chair and would need a bit of help getting around for a while yet. It was likely that Armin saw this trip as shooting two birds with one stone; the first being ensuring Levi’s well-being on the island, and the second being finding a place where Gabi and Falco could come into their identities as people outside of the life of a soldier. Levi was an expert in dealing with child soldiers, and the brats would find purpose in caring for him until he was well. So, problem solved… and Levi happened to actually like the ankle-biters in spite of himself.
“That’ll be the adrenaline, kid,” Levi explained, wishing like hell he could cross his legs without discomfort. “Your brain and body had a hell of a lot more to focus on then than it does now. Just pipe down and be patient— your squirming makes me fucking nauseous.”
“You’re not supposed to swear in front of children,” Gabi huffed, folding her arms, and Levi tch-ed .
“I’ve been swearing in front of children since I was a child,” he replied, “And don’t act like you haven't said worse yourself on the battlefield.”
Gabi was about to protest when Falco piped up.
“He’s got you there,” said Falco, grinning. “You have a mouth that would put a sailor’s to shame.”
That, of course, prompted a heated (if childish) debate, and time seemed to fly by as Levi allowed himself to sit back and spectate. Distantly, he wondered if (Y/N) would mind too terribly if he decided to adopt those two brats. He knew she’d wanted kids of her— of their — own at some point, but he couldn’t imagine any opposition from her on the adoption front either.
You have to get her to agree to still marry you first, his brain supplied altogether unhelpfully. Who knows how she feels about you now.
As Levi closed his eyes against the rising frustration in his gut, the flying boat began its descent, and from there, the journey transitioned to a carriage-ride. Onyankapon waved him and the kids off before turning around to make the trip back to the mainland, and the doors of the carriage were pulled shut, closing Levi in with Gabi and Falco on the opposite side of him.
“So this lady,” said Gabi, staring at him with those big, beady eyes, “Is she really all that special to you?”
Levi thought back to his bright-eyes, his beautiful, sweet, spunky lover, and the memory itself was enough to make him long for his right eye back so that he could see clearly her beauty even just once more. He thought back to her hands— so soft and gentle— wandering the expanse of his chest, roaming over the globes of his ass, tracing lazy little circles on the bags under his eyes, and wished for his two fingers back with which to hold hers. He thought of lager and laughter and lightning bugs, and his chest constricted so violently that he wasn’t sure he wasn’t having a heart attack.
“Yeah,” he said, his voice thick. “She’s one of a kind, my bright-eyes.”
“Bright-eyes?” asked Falco, tilting his head. “Is that some kind of pet name?”
Levi shifted in his seat, suddenly flustered. Damn kids were too nosy for their own good.
“I guess so. I just started calling her that when we first met, and it stuck. It fits, after all.”
If you get to meet her, you’ll see, he wanted to say, fighting back the urge to— to— to something , he wasn’t sure. She’s the best, brightest thing in this world. She was worth the rumbling to me, and would be to you too if you knew her.
But that was crazy-talk— he closed his eyes and tried to think of what he would say to her when they met again instead of the what-ifs and what-fors. He would tell her that he missed her, he thought… or maybe that he loves her, that he came back for her. Something grand and romantic and not as tired and broken as he felt. (Y/N) deserved so much more than that; she deserved only the finest things in life.
After what felt like forever, the carriage finally rolled to a halt, and Gabi and Falco helped him back into his chair. It was an ordeal, this being injured business— and frankly, Levi was more than a little embarrassed by it— but Gabi and Falco were nothing if not patient with him as he navigated his injuries. They helped him settle in, and once the world stopped spinning with the effort of it all, Levi realized that they had, in fact, appeared to have stopped at the correct destination:
(Y/N)’s home town.
“Here,” he said, handing Falco and Gabi a few coins each. “Buy something to eat in the village— I won’t be long, so don’t stray too far.”
Gabi cheered, but Falco paused.
“You don’t want help?” the boy asked, giving Levi a God-awful pitying look, and Levi waved his concern away with his good hand.
“There are some things a man needs to do on his own,” Levi told him grimly, “And this is one of those things. Like I said, I won’t be long, so don’t worry about me and just enjoy what the village has to offer.”
Reluctantly, Falco nodded, and Levi pushed his wheels in the direction of the other side of the village, where (Y/N)’s father’s farmhouse would await him.
Shoulders square, chin high, Levi told himself as he propelled himself forward. Look like the soldier she wanted to marry.
Love was a funny thing. Levi could and did throw himself against any enemy and hardly bat an eye. The blood of many— including that of his comrades— had stained his hands many times over. These things, these horrors had become small, mundane occurrences that he handled with practiced ease, and yet the thought of facing (Y/N)— of facing her father — had his heart racing and his gut tying itself in knots. More than once, he nearly wheeled himself right back around and fled in the face of such a challenge, but for (Y/N)’s sake, he steeled himself. Because she was worth it— because she was worth the stares of the villagers, worth whatever her father might say or do, worth any price Levi had to pay— he would do what needed to be done. She was the love of his life, and Levi would do anything to make it back to her.
It took a while— using his arms to maneuver everywhere was still going to take some getting used to— but Levi eventually arrived at the farmhouse door, sweating bullets and wishing for his heart to stop that incessantly loud thumping. He rapped three times on the door and waited somewhat impatiently for an answer, and when he finally got one, it wasn’t exactly what he had been expecting.
The man he assumed to be (Y/N)’s father— a portly old man with thick spectacles and a disposition not unlike that of a pissed-off wolf-rat— opened the door with an agitated snort, and Levi could smell brandy on his breath even from where he sat.
“Good morning,” Levi said, though it was well into the afternoon. “I’m looking for (Y/N)— this was the address she gave me for when I— well, for— ”
Levi cut himself off, then started again.
“I’m Lance Corporal Levi Ackerman, and (Y/N) has promised me her hand in marriage. I’d like to see her, if I could. If she’s well, I mean.”
Oh, boy, this was fantastic. Levi Ackerman— humanity’s strongest soldier and biggest buffoon.
“I’m afraid you’re too late,” said the man, folding his arms. “My (Y/N) got tired of waiting around here for you. She said she was washing her hands of you and took clear off into the sunset to go pursue that medical rot she's always on about.”
Levi's chest constricted once more, though he tried desperately not to let it show.
"That can't be," he said aloud, though he didn’t quite mean to. "I know your daughter, sir, and she— we’re in love.”
“Girls are fickle,” her father said, handing him a small coin purse. “One month they love you, the next they’re gone away to school or to work, never to think of you again. I’m sure you’ll find another bird around here to chase. Try the Whilloby family over the hill— I hear their daughter is exceedingly fine.”
With that, the man closed the door in Levi’s face, crushing his hopes and dreams with a mighty slam .
Levi opened the bag, and found the plain gold band he’d given to (Y/N) before he left in it.
She’s gone, he thought to himself as shock washed over him. She’s well and truly gone.
In the moments that followed after, Levi wished he could boast of numbness. What bliss it would be to feel nothing in comparison to the torment that heaved in his chest! He could not weep, for he could not breathe, and because he could not breathe, he could not see nor think. He blindly wheeled away, unwilling to stay a moment longer at the site of his greatest defeat, the ultimate humiliation and heartbreak, but he found himself lost in the scattered crowd, wondering for the first time since Kenny Ackerman took him in what it might be like to have someone left in the world that truly loved him.
“Levi-heichou!” he heard Falco’s voice call from some ways away. “Heichou, are you okay? Can you hear me? Levi!”
Levi didn’t want to hear anything. He never wanted to hear, see, taste, or touch anything ever again. His love was gone— his life was gone. He wanted very much to simply cease everything, to shatter the world the way he had been shattered, body and soul.
“Oi, old man!” said Gabi, pinching his arm savagely to get a reaction. “What’s the matter with you?”
Levi couldn’t speak— his jaw was clenched too tightly, his teeth grinding against one another. There was a wet warmth running down his cheek, and he realized that though his face hadn’t moved, he had begun to cry.
“We need a place to stay for the night,” he finally managed to say, though his voice did not sound like it belonged to him. “Take me to the nearest inn and pay for a room on the ground floor. We’ll be gone by dawn tomorrow.”
“Gone?” asked Falco, his eyes widening. “Why? Isn’t your bright-eyes here?”
“My bright-eyes?” he asked, feeling hollow. “I have no bright-eyes. She’s gone.”
Gabi inhaled sharply, and Falco took a step back.
“Is she— did she— ”
Levi shook his head. “Not gone forever. Just gone from me.”
Levi Ackerman had endured many hardships. He had looked Death in its grisly, horrific face, and had tasted the bitter bile of defeat. He had known well the gall of a life of repeated ignorance and failure. He had known hunger, fear, and abandonment, and he had conquered all despite the odds. This, he knew, he could conquer too… but something about the pain of this heartbreak made him want to succumb to it.
“Come on,” he told the kids, though he felt like dying, “Daylight’s burning.”
***
A few weeks later, (Y/N) rode into town, oblivious to what had happened prior to her return from the fever camps just outside a neighboring village.
There was a buzz about the town, she noted, but no one was buzzing to her about it, which could only mean that whatever had happened to cause such a stir had happened either to or because of her. She began to hope as she had scarcely dared to hope since the day Levi left for Marleyan shores; her heart began to beat hard against her ribcage, and she urged her horse onward with her heels. If Levi had come for her— if he had kept his promise— oh, the day had finally come when she could be free! No more would there be farm chores, no more would there be oppression from her father— there would only be love and happiness and a life lived fully.
(Y/N) had waited so long for this day!
When she came up to her childhood home, she dismounted without even remembering to tether her mount and pounded the door with her fist.
“Dad!” she called, excitement coursing through her veins. “Dad, I’m home!”
Before her fist connected with the door another time, it opened to reveal her father standing there with his usual dour expression.
“Daughter,” he greeted her, but nothing short of a disaster could spoil her mood.
“Has he come?” (Y/N) asked, her heartbeat roaring in her ears. “Has Levi come for me?”
Her father looked away, and the first small seeds of panic were sown.
“He did come, didn’t he?” she prompted, and her body began to tremble. “Was he well? Did you tell him where I had gone and when I would return?”
Her father grunted.
“He came, alright,” her father said, finally meeting her eyes. “Came back in a coffin.”
(Y/N)’s blood ran cold.
“What do you mean?” she asked, suddenly nauseous. “That’s— that’s impossible, he—"
“I'm sorry, child,,” her father replied, deadpan. “I told you that a soldier's lot was to die when ordered to."
(Y/N) shook her head. She refused to believe such a thing. If it were true, then why hadn't news reached her before then? The whole island should be ablaze with the rumors by now!
“He was different,” she said, but her voice gave away beneath the weight of her emotions. “He— He wanted to marry me, he promised he'd come back—”
“A promise he never had a choice whether or not he could keep.”
(Y/N)’s head was spinning, and her vision went blurry with tears.
“I’m sorry,” her father repeated, grabbing her arm. “Come inside and have a meal. I’m sure you’re tired from your journey.”
“I’m not hungry,” she replied, but numbly let her father pull her inside. What use was protest? What use was anything? These past months of hell, she had endured for Levi’s sake. Without him, what more was left? What had been the purpose of her suffering?
Was he truly gone? Forever?
She couldn’t tell what was real and what wasn’t anymore. A part of her wished that she would jolt awake to find herself sleeping on the ground in a medic’s tent so that she could cry the bitter tears of loneliness while knowing that it was all just a bad dream that would be gone come the morning; another, larger part of her knew that this was no dream, no nightmare.
Only reality could be this cruel.

"Oh Memory, torture me no more,
The present's all o'ercast;
My hopes of future bliss are o'er,
In mercy veil the past.
Why bring those images to view
I henceforth must resign ?
Ah ! why those happy hours renew,
That never can be mine?
Past pleasure doubles present pain,
To sorrow adds regret,
Regret and hope are both in vain,
I ask but to — forget."

Hey, if u read fanfiction, what's ur top 5 favorite Levihan fics?
this list doesn’t have any kind of an order, because i can’t really choose what fic is my absolute fave hahaha
1. Bandages by ConfusedMuse - ah, it’s simply great! awkward, grump and caring levi, hurt and oblivious hange, need i say more? very endearing, and i strongly recommend it to anyone, who has never read it. it’ll be a delight, i promise.
2. A Dangerous Game by just_quintessentially_me is honestly the best action fic you’ll ever find. it has everything - violance, romance, betrayals and friendship. if you haven’t read, what are you even doing? go and read it, it’ll break your heart (in the best way possible). btw while i’m at it? chapter 8 of this fic is perfect, i have never felt so tense while reading the fic, the suspence is tangible, i love it!
3. The Man Who Could Fly - Or Very Nearly by just_quintessentially_me - ok, this one, again oblivious hange, grumpy levi, who has no choice but to save her ass from clutches of death, but it’s so cute! the banter! levi’s anger towards the guy, who almost killed hange! (poor todd hahaha).
4. Once Upon A Heichou by MyDoki - so this one is about younger levi and hange? levi is some kind of a thug and hange is a teenager, who works as a pharmacist? and she basically forces levi to live with her to get him off the streets? it’s about hange, trying to make a surprise cake for levi’s birthday, and it’s really endearing, and i love their friendship here, it’s really cute and very levihan-like? idk, i just love this work so much!
5. A Little Help Goes A Long Way by revolutionrose - this fic is really special for me, because it was the first levihan fic i’ve ever read! it’s sooooo cute and it really made me fall in love with this couple, and this love, as you can probably see, stilll hasn’t faded away lmao. but! really, if by any chance, you haven’t read it, please do it. for your own sake. the fluff is through the roof! and the humor! i laughed so much, while i first read it! and i’m still laughing, whenever i reread it. good, good stuff, i really do recommend.

Levi and Moblit talking about Hanji
My day is complete. (Some lines taken from yoshidaeri’s translation of one of the Shelter from the Rain short stories.)
A relationship of so many years gives birth to a special bond. - Moblit thinking about Levi and Hanji’s friendship.
Moblit:: “I consider it my job to observe and watch over her.” Levi: “Ah. It’s a job only you can do.”
Levi: “Our friendship of many years ties us together. But you are the one always at Hanji’s side, Moblit.”
Levi: “Well… ‘continue looking out for Hanji’ is what I’m basically saying.”
L: “I’m in the same barracks anyway. Then Hanji will owe me a favor in the future.” M: “…Are you sure she’ll notice you?” L: “I’ll make sure she notices even if I have to kick her ass.”
