It was a beautiful morning the day you got married to Yelena, in an off-shore white chapel surrounded by seagulls and sea waves. It was beautiful and enthralling to finally hold the woman of your dreams and walk with her on the path of life, exchanging vows of eternal love. Your life was just as hectic as hers or even more so. You had long been a spy, trained from your youth to serve your country so naturally, you had met Yelena, the short blonde woman full of ambition and sarcasm at an open field while she was trying to outwit you. In the end, you won, and together you made a perfect team.
Yelena pulled you away from the spy life and into the magnificent world of a freelance vigilante. After this, you both started working together, doing the good old shooting, maiming, and battling together and soon your feelings for one another came to light. With a sealed kiss one night on a forgotten beach, you became one and thus inseparable.
Notoriously, the pair of you had become quite well known amongst the circles of assassins and vigilantes across Europe and all of the world. There wasn’t a single authoritative place where your pictures weren’t up with big red signs saying ‘Dangerous, proceed with caution.’ There was a hefty bounty for whoever could get information on you but you were both much smarter than that.
Sometimes you liked showing up just to lead people into a merry chase and forcing them to waste their resources like this. Yelena and you did share the same sense of humor. And tricking people was always funny and just. Wasn’t really your fault if people were gullible like that.
Now it has been five months since your honeymoon ended and you were both on different missions across Europe. Not something that you did often but you did always choose places that were close enough to one another. Often you took hits from the dark internet, assassinating rapists and pedophiles.
As for this particular mission, you were in the northern part of Croatia while Yelena was in the mountainside of Italy. Your mission was supposed to be easy. Take one piece of antique jewelry that carries hidden instructions for a new chemical solution. It should have been easy, it should have been a break-in and take kind of thing but nothing seemed to be working for you that day. From the moment when you woke up, on the wrong train you took to the weirdest old factory you had ever come across.
Once inside, you make your moves slowly, descending from the outer metal ladder down to the basement, that’s where your intel showed you where the piece of jewelry was. Long forgotten and well hidden. But what you didn’t expect was the gas that started fuelling the room the minute your combat boots hit the concrete ground.
Quickly you pulled up your mask, trying to secure your face and not inhale anything but the gas was new secret technology. One millisecond, one inhale and you were out. You passed out with your hand on the necklace without even realizing what happened.
A couple of hours later you woke up, securely tied to a chair, and a pair of powerful metal handcuffs on your wrists. Two people dressed in black tactical gear were staring at you, each carrying many weapons and knives. The room was small and there were blinds on the window next to you. Looks like an interrogation room of sorts.
“Welcome to Interpol.” The sound of a man followed by a door closing behind jolted you awake and you tilt your head to look at him.
“That doesn’t look very welcoming.” You crack out a joke shaking the heavy handcuffs and trying to move your cuffed legs.
“Is the best I can do under these circumstances.”
“What kind of circumstances, officer? If you are an officer.”
“For you, I can be.”
“Very well.”
“The ones where you are a very dangerous criminal that I refuse to allow to escape.”
“I can assure you I would never do that.”
“If only I could trust you.”
You chuckle and wink at him, sitting back in your chair.
“Am I allowed a lawyer?”
“One will be provided as the law states.”
“Cool, hope they are good.”
“For your sake, I would hope so too. “
You stifle back into your chair, and very soon the person you had been waiting for arrives, introduces herself to you, and settles down.  After the lawyer has arrived you remain silent as per her instructions and the officer tries to reach some sort of deal for you. What they are more interested in is where Yelena is and where you keep all the money. Pretty typical stuff but nothing scares you. You have all done this before, on both sides of the law.
Next up is traveling you from Croatia all the way to Luxemburg, to the Court of Justice. There were heavy chains on your arms and your legs, the lawyer sitting next to you, and five soldiers armed to the brink with heavy weapons securing you.
But it came as no surprise to you when you heard the familiar sound of car tires stopping. Followed by one loud thump and the beginning of the overturning of the army truck. The truck stopped as the soldiers got prepared for the impact and the intrusion. Secure in your position and with a slight smirk on the curls of your lips you sit there in anticipation knowing what will come next. She truly couldn’t stay away from you for a long time.
Yelena’s favorite toy.  A bazooka, one shot, and a hole were now evident at the back doors of the truck. The soldiers immediately get in position sealing you with their bodies but you stay still as you watch one after the other fall to the ground. Followed by the lawyer, two can play the game. Yelena had used the same exact gas that they had caught you with. You knew very well she had made sure how it would be. Yelena hated being outwitted by anyone.
You watch her as she secures the bazooka on her back and struts towards it with the confidence of a woman who just messed up the whole world. In her gloved hands, she is holding the necklace you were after, shaking it gloating for you.
“Sorry for being so late, I had another tiny job to do first.” You roll your eyes and sigh.
“A little help if your majesty wouldn’t mind.” You tell her pointing at the chains with your eyes and she chuckles putting the necklace in the pockets of her gear.
“A little demanding aren’t we?” She tilted her head. ”Maybe I like seeing you all tied up. Ever thought of that?”
“Maybe that’s precisely what I have been thinking and I wish the current situation was much different.”
“Alright, very very cool.” She nods positively as she comes closer to you and with a laser knife starts cutting off the chains.
“Be careful, it might sting a little.”
“I know you’d never hurt me on purpose.”
“Aw, sentimental, aren’t we?”
“Just a little bit.”
With a thud, the chains drop to the ground and Yelena helps you off your seat. She quickly checks in to ensure there are no bugs or other secret weapons on you and then leads you to her motorcycle.
The truth is you both were prepared for something like this, you had bought a cabin in an obscure Lithuanian small town a couple of months back where you had a large sum of the money you both had acquired during your vigilante work. You knew where she was taking you and you knew the trip would be relatively long. She secures the helmet on your head kissing your lips as she does so, the seal of a promise made long ago. She turns around and revs up the engine. It would be a long day and an even longer night.
By the time you arrived in Lithuania, it was well past midnight and you were both tired and hungry. But you had each other and that’s all you cared about. Sleepily Yelena tapped at your shoulder while you were parking the motorcycle. The cabin was small and had only necessities but you could never need anything more than each other. You give her a sheepish kiss on her cheek and then go to the kitchen searching for some food.
Then Yelena is taking a shower while you are cooking spaghetti on the pot and the night seems still, domestic, like a normal life for a change. It doesn’t take you too long to settle in this domestic bliss, cooking, cleaning, and sleeping together. Watching tv shows and complaining about the smallest things. There is plenty of money around and even though you have everything under surveillance, it doesn’t take too much for the thrill of adventure to overwhelm you both once again.
After all what was life if not one big game?

The mcu’s gotten so big that hey should just break it up into lots of smaller sub-genres and hard-core lean into what makes each of these sub-genres different from each other. It would improve the quality of the shows, it’d be easier for people only interested in certain characters and storylines to stay invested, and decrease “superhero fatigue” (which I don’t think actually exists but is actually “huge movies with the same tones and messages and are often mediocre fatigue”).
Would it take more time and more effort to do Avengers style team-up movies? Sure. Does it mean that some people’s favs would be left out of the big team-ups? Sadly yes. But you can still have small team ups.
Basically do what they did with The Defenders and the other Netflix shows but instead of just doing it with the street-level heroes do it with all of them. The mystical, the cosmic, the Avengers, and the street-level/spies. Make it so they can all exist on their own and use the cross-overs and team-ups sparingly.
This would have the added benefit of less studio involvement just out of sheer necessity. Have a team of people in charge of keeping the lore and timeline straight just so characters can jump genres when need be but with all of these things being so separate then plot holes and timeline inconsistencies wouldn’t matter as much
they would also need to have lower budgets and we’d have to live with some lower quality cgi if we want the special effects teams to be treated humanely. Which I guess would leave us with them having to get more creative with practical effects as well. Oh darn (she said sarcastically).
To me, what made the mcu so successful while other cinematic universes failed was that they nailed down the individual stories and made those super solid before even thinking about the big team up movies. Now they’re making the same mistakes that other cinematic universes made and are putting the universe before the individual stories. They drifted away from this, which was fine up until Endgame when they basically had to do a soft reboot but instead of actually starting over they treated each new storyline and character as though we were already familiar with them. But they forgot that phase 1 took years. Now we went through phases 4 and 5 with twice as much material in each phase in the same time frame it took to do phase 1. They’re not patient anymore. They don’t care about the stories or the characters anymore. (I can still feel the care that the creatives have for the stories which is why I still love the mcu but the execs just won’t stop biggering and biggering. Give me more low stake stories!)
No, this doesn’t solve all of the mcu’s issues but I still think it could do a lot of good
(basically what I mean is structure the mcu more like comic books i guess)

A first | Kate Bishop
Tumblr media
Pairing: Kate Bishop x Reader
Request: Could you write a hurt/ comfort angsty fic where the reader is scared to let their gaurd down and feel what they feel towards their bestfriend kate. They have never been in a relationship before and they are scared of saying and/or doing something wrong that'll hurt kate.
Warnings: hurt/comfort
masterlist | requests: closed | taglist | words: 863
Ever since you realised the extent of your feelings towards your best friend Kate, you have been keeping a bit more distance with her. You still spend a lot of time with her since she's your best friend and roommate, but you started leaving more room on the couch between you too and not hugging her on your every arrival. Trying to make yourself to get over this crush on her, it was never going to happen.
Besides not wanting to hurt Kate or change what you have with her now, you had also never before been in a real relationship. What would happen in the slight possibility that Kate would feel the same way? You don't know how to be a good girlfriend, what if you say or do something that will hurt her? You would never forgive yourself.
What you had not calculated was that fact that you were hurting Kate by acting distant. You only realised that when she confronted you. After another day of you coming home and not greeting her with a hug she asked you to take a seat on the couch. "Y/n, will you please tell me what's going on?"
“What do you mean?” You say as you sit down like she asked. Kate sits down at the opposite end of the couch. “This for instance, you won’t even sit next to me anymore. You don’t want to hang out, have movie nights. You’re never hugging me anymore. If I did something wrong, just please let me know so I can try to fix it.” She said in one breath as the tears start forming in her eyes.
Your heart drops at the sight of her, the way you made her feel. “I’m so sorry.” You start of saying as you move closer to Kate, wrapping your arms around her. “I never meant to hurt you. I was creating distance for the exact reason of not wanting to hurt you. I’m sorry I didn’t realise I was hurting you this way.”
Kate holds on to your comfort a little while longer until her mind has caught up with what she just heard you say. “You were creating distance? Why?” She asks as she moves out of your hug. You had to tell now, the whole story. You take a deep breath before you start.
“I was creating distance because I didn’t want to ruin what we have now.” You take a second to think of how to word your thoughts. “Kate I like you, as in I like-like you. Just telling you could jeopardize our friendship and this, you as my best friend, means the world to me. And for the small chance that it wouldn’t, I don’t have enough experience with relationships to make sure that I’d be good enough for you.”
At your last sentence Kate grabs your hand, “Y/n, you’d always be good enough. A relationship is between two people, two people that work on their relationship together. Most times bettering each other while in it.” Kate takes a moment to look you in the eyes to check if her words are coming over clear. “And with that said, I like-like you too. Like a lot.”
Your eyes shoot up at hers. Did she really say that or did your mind deceive you? Kate saying, “I really said it.” Snaps you out of your thoughts that you apparently spoke out loud. You blush at the realization. Kate grabs your other hand as well, “Y/n, experience or not, I want to give us a shot. Because I think we’d be pretty great together. Would you like too as well?” You nod your head and smile, “I do.”
Kate smiles too. “There is actually something I’ve wanted to do for a long time.” Kate says as places a strand of your hair behind your ear, leaving the palm of her hand to rest on your cheek. You lean into her touch as you watch her eyes. “Can I kiss you?” She asks. The butterflies fill your stomach at the thought of kissing Kate. “Yes, I’ve wanted to kiss you for a long time too.”
At those words gently pulls your face closer and meets your lips with her own. At first you share a short and sweet kiss. Both smiling into it, your foreheads leaning against each other as you pull away slightly looking into each other’s eyes. The butterflies were still going crazy, and your heart felt warm. You leaned in to kiss her again. Relaxing into the kiss as Kate kisses you back. You felt so safe with her.
You’ve been kissing for a bit when you pull away to hug her close. She wraps her arms around you and places a soft kiss on your head. “Movie night?” She asks hopeful. Weekly movie nights had been your thing since you moved in together. A tradition you might have tried to hide from in the last couple of weeks, so Kate asking you if you wanted to have one still made her kind of nervous, even after your confession. “I’ll get the pizza.” You say with a big smile plastered on your face.

Can you do Kate and Natasha “Close your eyes. Everything’s okay. I’ve got you.”
A/N: Thank you so much for the request! I love writing me some Kate and Natasha feels 🥰💖 Hopefully I did them justice in this one 💗 It's been a while, lol
I hope you enjoy!
Word Count: 1.3k+
“Close your eyes. Everything’s okay. I’ve got you,” Natasha whispered to Kate, holding her in her arms as Kate sunk into her.
It had been a rough day for Kate. She had done nothing but screw up all day long, and she had felt like everything was turned against her. Lucky had somehow gotten out of her room, and she had lost him somewhere in the compound. It had freaked her out until Carol brought him back to her.
After the Lucky episode, Kate had decided to finally have lunch and it turned out that Peter had eaten the last of the dirty rice in the kitchen. Which had left her in a less than happy mood.
And then to top off everything, she twisted her ankle during practice that day and she had to call things quits.
So at the end of the day, she had finally dragged herself to Natasha and Yelena’s house, craving affection from the one person that could make it all better. Natasha had thankfully been the one to answer the door— Yelena had been and still was in the shower at the moment— and as soon as Kate stepped in and let all of the words come tumbling out, Natasha had offered to cuddle with her.
Which brought them to where they were now as they lounged on the couch and Kate laid on top of the older woman.
Listening to Natasha’s words, Kate obeyed finally, shutting her eyes as she took in the scent of one of her favorite people in the world. Natasha was always there for her.
She always loved Natasha’s embraces. It made her feel like she was being wholly enveloped by the older woman despite the fact that Kate herself was taller and larger than her. Something about the way that Natasha held her and how Kate’s head was pressed into Natasha’s collarbone and throat with Natasha’s legs encasing the sides of Kate’s body gave the feeling of complete safety.
“It’s just been rough, Tasha,” Kate mumbled against her, and Natasha shook her head, kissing the top of Kate’s as she pressed her nose to her hair.
“I know, angel… Just don’t think about it. I’ve got you, sweetheart,” Natasha told her, her soft reassurances slipping from her tongue as naturally as ever.
Kate could not help but feel the stress slipping from her bones and dissipating from her soul as she reveled in the feeling of Natasha’s arms around her. Natasha stroked her hair, her hands soft as her fingers softly threaded through the strands and met the scalp underneath. Kate could not help the smooth, slightly dopey hum underneath her breath as she enjoyed the sensations.
“You’ve always got me, Tasha,” Kate softly confessed, Natasha’s gentle breaths through her nose falling against her head.
“You’re the best,” Kate murmured, and Natasha hummed noncommittally.
“You’re sweet,” Natasha simply replied, her voice uncertain despite the warmth within it. Kate knew that Natasha did not agree with her. However, Kate knew she did not have the energy to fight her on it right now.
However, Natasha could bet she would say something about it later when she was recharged some.
It was as she heard Fanny’s nails clicking around on the floor some distance away that Kate thought of Lucky again, remembering how scared she had been when he had disappeared like he had.
“I guess somebody must have gone into my room to find me or something… That had to be how Lucky got out,” Kate stated, the worries resurfacing a little in her mind, and Natasha made some noise in the back of her throat, the vibration of it tickling a little against Kate’s head.
   “He’s safe now, though.”
“Yeah… I just don’t want to see anything happen to him, though. Out of everything that happened to me today, that’s the part that bothered me the most,” Kate admitted, her voice gentle as she spoke into Natasha’s hoodie.
Natasha let out a gentle breath, and Kate could feel her shift ever so slightly underneath Kate as she tightened her hold on her.
“Don’t worry. Whoever let him out will get an earful,” Natasha promised, and Kate could hear the barely disguised protectiveness and irritation in Natasha’s voice as she thought of whoever had caused Kate pain. Kate could not help the sparks of something warm in her chest at Natasha’s watchfulness over her.
Natasha always brought the safest feeling to Kate, and she somehow had a way of reassuring her that everything would end up alright.
Interrupting the intense feeling of comfort that she was feeling, she suddenly heard the smallest noise not too far off. It sounded like a floorboard creaking.
Quickly following this, to Kate’s complete surprise, she suddenly felt a heavy weight on her lower back and behind area. Kate let out a grunt as it made impact, and Natasha let out a soft groan before chuckling warmly herself. Kate opened her eyes, looking behind her as she took in what had hit her.
To her shock, it was Yelena perched on top of her. She was leaned back against the back of the couch as she unceremoniously sat on top of Kate, squishing her to the couch cushions as she unashamedly got comfortable without a single thought for Kate’s potential discomfort.
Kate was slightly concerned about Yelena having heard her conversation with Natasha. She was not entirely sure how Yelena would react, but she trusted her.
However, Yelena did not even look in Kate’s direction. She instead simply turned on the television, watching it as Fanny rounded the edge of the couch to join her owner.
Kate’s eyes widened as Fanny caught sight of her and her tongue lolled with the promise of what she was about to do. Kate instantly started pulling back as Fanny excitedly put her paws up on the edge of the couch cushions just beside Natasha and started toward Kate’s face, fully aiming to lick her.
Kate let out a slight squeal, giggling as she reached out and tried to block the dog from getting to her.
Natasha laughed as Kate tried to escape Fanny’s tongue as she excitedly lapped and tried to get her to give her pets. Even Yelena was chuckling as she took in the sight, and after a moment, she finally shook her head and spoke up.
“Down, Fanny. Come over here and sit,” Yelena told her, and Fanny reluctantly left Kate alone as she approached Yelena. Yelena leaned over a little from her high vantage point perched on Kate’s back, and she petted the dog’s head.
“Good girl. Besides, you don’t want Kate Bishop germs in your mouth, do you?” Yelena joked, making a playful jab at Kate despite the fact that it was not directly pointed at her. Kate just groaned softly, not impressed but not gracing it with a response as she snuggled into Natasha’s arms.
Natasha sweetly wiped Kate’s face with her sleeve, cleaning her of the dog slobber before letting her slightly calloused yet soft hand stroke Kate’s cheek with its coolness.
“Listen, she’s been over there wallowing in her feelings, and while you’re a good girl for trying to make her feel better, she doesn’t need you licking her right now. Not when she almost lost Lucky. You know, your best friend that always licks his butt,” Yelena told the dog with a small chuckle, her voice gentle as she spoke.
Although Fanny could not understand a word, it was clear that the words were not uttered for the benefit of the dog.
Kate could not help but feel herself warm and a bubble of pure happiness settle over her. She could feel Natasha’s soft hum as her head shifted and she looked at Yelena, sharing some sort of unspoken communication. She then dipped her head down, her cheek brushing Kate’s head as she rested against her.
Kate just shifted slightly, getting comfortable with Yelena’s weight on her as she nestled further into Natasha’s arms and watched the television that Yelena had sweetly changed to one of Kate’s favorite recorded movies.
In that moment, she could not help but forget all about her frustrations from earlier.
Kate had never felt more at-home in her life.

Headcanon that MCU Kate Bishop got the idea for boomerang arrows from growing up watching Last Airbender and her favorite character being Sokka.
Also headcanon that she always gravitated towards non-super powered characters that are surrounded by super powered characters and keep up through sheer luck, skill, and concentrated power of will, even before she was saved by Clint during the Battle of New York. (what? I’m not projecting, you’re projecting)
