You know what fantasy trope I don’t think gets enough love? The reluctant healer.

Stark and Jool from Farscape, for example. Pushed into the role, both scrounging to make a half decent replacement for Zhaan, wise, kind, nurturing, strong and faithful; the picture of a what a healer should be, and falling short.

Adan from Dragon Age: Inquisition. A very minor character but SUCH a good one.

Just… Normal people for whom nurturing doesn’t come naturally, forced into a role filled to the fucking brim with responsibility because they’re the only idiot around here with anything close to a healer’s skill set. Failing over and over while their patients compare them to someone they know they’ll never hold a candle to. And getting up every day to do it all again. Because they care.

He closed his eyes, breathed in as deep as his broken ribs allowed, and tried to counter the sticky lingering guilt with the justification of his Guards' untreated injuries and exhausted spirits.

It didn't really work. It never really worked.

She smirked, brushing her thumb against your lips, “My, my..how pretty you look with my color.” You fluster, face going bright as you shrunk back under her peering gaze. 

“Don’t look away from me now, my dear.” She chided, tilting your head back to make you face her. She peppered kisses onto your face as she murmured sweet nothings to you, that progressively got more flirtatious as she continued, with even some kisses trailing down to your neck if you let her. Soon enough, your face was smeared in lipstick stains, not that you complained of course. Or more rather, your brain was too much of a flustered puddle to complain at that point. 

The Archivist only smirked as she looked at your bright, love-struck face, as she held your face in her hands. Stroking her thumb against your cheek, smudging the spot of lipstick in the process, she pressed a sensual kiss onto your lips. Your heart was pounding out of your chest, her breath mingling with yours once she pulled back, now being pinned down to the couch as her eye seemed to gleam in the darkness of her secluded shadow looming over you. She trailed her finger against your chin as she spoke, “Let’s see what other things your capable of tonight, dear.~” Before you could even get a reply in, her lips were pressed against yours again. 

With a certain…’look’ in her eye, and the smudges of kisses all over you, you could tell that tonight was going to be a long night.
