so I started a new wip🙈 (the cheating fic is still a priority tho!) this idea was inspired by the oth episode with Brooke's bachelorette party and a convo with @hoodie-buck about it 🙈🤣 it's gonna be ridiculous and a different first meeting, and I hope I'll write it the way it's in my head rn haha (also, there's gonna be switching povs lol)

(...) she takes a look at herself in the mirror, smudged make-up, wrinkled clothes, bags under her eyes, the white ‘bride-to-be’ sash dirty and stained, and a bit too bright to look at in the bathroom light right now. She splashes water on her face a few more times, as she tries to wake herself enough to figure out what she remembers last. 

Buck rented the room, they all had a few drinks here, and then went downstairs to the bar. It was supposed to be just a lowkey, small party. Everyone prepared a place to visit and something to do, but Maddie can only remember as far as leaving the hotel to visit some club Josh had planned. The rest is a blur.

And then it hits her. She’s seen almost everyone who was at her bachelorette party somewhere in the suite. Everyone except her man-of-honor. Instantly more alert, she walks around the room again, thinking maybe somehow she didn’t notice him before. But no, he’s nowhere to be found. Shit. She reaches into her pocket, intending to call him, and realizes her phone is missing, too. That’s a mystery for later, though. Now what the hell happened last night, and where is her brother?

Tbh I don't really have much prose-wise for craft stuff at the moment, I'm pretty sure everything craft-related on my docket is still in very loose outline form? Like ALL my uses of "needle" are ethically-dubious-lab-related, for SURE.

Buuuuut I can give you this very professional outline excerpt from a crack AU where Kon gets turned into a small and adorable puppy and things get ridiculous and cute and low-key emotional from there, if you want a little bit of crafting, lol.

pep talk turned into a pep rally by sarcasticfluentry (E, 20K) is an OT5 orgy x 2 with one being Louis-centric and one being Zayn-centric. It was written in 2014, so it’s a tiny bit dated as far as characterizations are concerned, but this author always writes well and their smut is always really hot.

I’d Do Niall by alongthewatchtower (E, 8K) I know this fic isn’t for everyone and I also know it’s pure filth. But I love everything about it. Dirty talk, Harry in panties, overwhelmed Harry, Niall trying it and not knocking it, Dom Louis vibes…all the good stuff. LOL!

You'll Breathe Me In (You Won't Release) by LoadedGunn (E, 95K) Also known as The Driving Instructor fic. This has some of the best pacing I’ve read in a fic, some really well written BDSM smut, and characters I just really enjoy. I know it’s not for everyone. Read the tags.

Are You Gonna Be My Girl? by LoadedGunn (E, 8K) Oh man….I love this one. Harry in lingerie, role play, feminization, dirty talk. It’s got it all. It’s even a Christmas fic!

You Are The Blood by sarcasticfluentry (E, 176K) If you’re a Harry Potter fan, you’ve probably read this one. But if you haven’t, what are you waiting for? I don’t even like HP and I LOVED this fic. It’s a thrilling story and it’s full of ridiculously hot smut.

like how your hands feel me up and down by ballsdeepinjesus (E, 8K) First of all, this starts with Harry in a Snow White costume which, frankly, is all you need to grab my attention. Second of all, it’s super sexy and well paced and Harry’s in makeup and lingerie and….whew. You need to read it.

down on your knees, you don't look so tall by writtensoul (E, 3K) Harry is kind of a dick in this one, but it was written in 2013 at the height of the Frat Boy Harry narrative, so keep that in mind. It's otherwise really hot.

Go With It by embro (E, 4K) i mean, how can you go wrong with: "You thought I was someone else and started making out with me in a club and you're really hot so I just kinda went with it and now we're heading back to your place and I don't know how to break it to you"

babydoll blues by devilinmybrain / @thedevilinmybrain (E, 112K) At last, the full-fledged, dirty, sugar baby fic we needed. Harry's character is so layered and so beautifully drawn, I just fell in love with him. Louis is sexy and powerful and also tender and sweet, just how I imagine the actual Louis to be. This author wrote one of my favorite fics of 2021, so I was really excited to dive into this one. They really know how to set a scene and draw you in to their characters. Scorching smut scenes, excellent use of side characters, and some angst that fully made me cry. Definitely worth a read!

precious little thing by mercutionotromeo / @hazlouquitefinished (E, 21K) I’ve read this one so many times…it’s got it all. This time the phone sex operator is Louis, and subby Harry is just beginning to realize his daddy kink.

1. Infidelity AU part 3. I scrapped and wrote this 2 times already and I’m never satisfied so it is in a limbo.

2. Dark CEO!Max and dancer!Charles part 2. Sooo many of you asked for this, for real, and I started it and have an idea of how it will go, but I’m yet to finish it sadly.

3. The last prompt I’ll be able to do from my breeding kink lists, I still have 4 in total, but at the moment I’m not able to push more of those out. It’s “I love when you come in me.”

4. Summer camp AU, Max and Charles are working in a typical US summer camp, and after Max invites Charles skinny dipping in secret kinda out of spite, their relationship goes from hard pinning to hard sneaking around and fucking after. This is veeery sweet and extremely hot as well, but mostly cute and fluffy.

5. Max is a cleaning lady of Charles who is rich. Bare with me, this is gold. In every reader insert everyone is a bloody influencer, or driver, or actress and rich and what not, well guess what, no one’s does cleaning lady stories, but we could and I will, and it’s very hot and sweet. Max is actually a student who cleans people apartments as a little extra, and it just looked more suited to him than being a stripper. 🤷‍♀️🤷‍♀️🤷‍♀️ Max is hot ok and Charles has eyes but no time on his hands so what better idea than start sleeping with the person who goes to his home twice a week to clean? They do fall in love too, yes.

6. I have a doc with the lines “you want to fuck me so bad it makes you look stupid.” And it would be combined with some old sick prompts lol

Hii! I haven’t really been active here for some time sooo how are you? How have you been? :)

HIIII!!! honestly I haven't been very active here either, I just hop in every so often. I should go back to the time when this was my #1 social media cause that was a lot easier to digest than twitter LOL

I've been okay generally, I feel like I'm in a bit of a transitory period in my life where I'm trying new things and attempting to get myself to chase dreams that feel very far away. I just recently got on my Summer break from school, so I'm grateful for that! I was planning on taking another summer course, but I dropped it last second because it's technically not a requirement

I posted a random scene that I've been wanting to post on AO3 because I wrote it a while ago, it's basically an AU where Nagito is a fem musician and the whole premise is that she's popular (and so is the rest of the DR cast and some others, like just generally a fame AU cause I dig the idea so much) but it hasn't gotten many interactions since it primarily involves a rare-pair. (I've been so into Taylor Swift's music and her rise to stardom, it's been a recent fixation for me so I completely blame that on that AU/snippet of a fic.)

I have SOOOO many fanfics sitting in my documents of this rare pair, like 99% of them have fem nagito, and it mainly stemmed as an "inside joke" between my partner and I but now it's like second language to us and it's this weird thing where this version of fem nagito feels more like an OC if anything, cause the more deviations you take from canon the more creative liberty you impose on them and all that. I always feel a little bit like I'm lying when I post that content, because I love writing canon Nagito and writing him as accurately as I can muster because I'd like to think I do a good job, but then I remind myself that fanfic is entirely optional and I may as well post things that feel completely unique to me and even "out of character" because what's the harm in it? most sensible people will just click off if they don't like it.

Like, I posted this fic titled "3 years different*" on AO3 which was ANOTHER rarepair AU fem-nagito thing (Like, a different AU to the musician AU one) which, again, stemmed between my partner and I and I didn't expect anyone to read it and enjoy it but I got a pretty nice comment on the second chapter that warmed my heart and made me feel like posting was slightly worth it.

and I just love the rare-pair and I love my version of fem nagito that has shifted and grown - and while it's SO much fun to kinda have a little fandom AU between my partner and i, it gets sooo lonely being the only 2 people who are a fan of this hyper specific fandom-amalgamation we created??? like I'm only touching on it lightly here but THE LORE we made runs ridiculously deep, I've considered what a video-essay on it would look like trying to cover EVERYTHING and it would be A MESSS but it's so fun

in my personal life I've just been filling my time with animal crossing, I don't know if you're anything like this but I swing between all of my previous fixations when I don't find a new one and I just ping-pong between getting really sucked into one thing to another. like, a few months ago I was OBSESSEDDD with the sims 2. before that I think it was stardew valley. Now I'm back on animal crossing. I finally have a Switch so I've been decorating my island from SCRATCH for the first time ever, it's fun but I also find myself running out of ideas so quickly so I end up running around my island aimlessly wondering what I should do. I love building on animal crossing with long-form youtube content in the back.

I also want to start doing fan edits again!! I used to be really into it in 2020 (I Wonder why with the state of the world then), but I'm trying really hard to dabble more because playing around in After Effects and making transitions is genuinely a lot of fun. I hope i get into it more consistently

I'm also looking forward to a concert that I'm going to with my partner soon! I've never been to a concert so it'll be my first! I'm excited to dress up and hopefully know the words to the band !!

omg regarding your posts YEAH i really dont get stancy, especially in s4. we already know this doesnt work, it was a disaster. and tbh!! i think a lot of people place all the blame on steve when nancy is just as responsible, if not more, for what happened to their relationship. but if you say that anywhre then people just flag you as being sexist or misogynistic when like. uhm no. the amount of times ive seen people try to talk about it and other people play that card as ridiculous. criticizing steve is fine, hell they ENJOY it, but you critique nancy and her actions - even the duffers refuse to do it and act like her cheating was justified and thats NEVER been addressed?? - then youre the problem. so sick of the part of this fandom thats like this... (also sorry this got kinda off topic but i just. hate stancy with every part of my being and im not even joking 😭)

Yes like stancy is a huge mess! And I have no idea why the duffers did that with stancy in season 4. And yeah I think a lot of people purely blame steve and don’t want to admit that Nancy was also just wrong in this whole situation. Or people will just get defensive when people (especially steve Stans) say that Nancy was also at fault for their relationship. And it’s like canon makes it explicitly clear that both of them just don’t work together. And you can go round and round arguing about who’s at fault but it’s both of them who messed up and they weren’t right for one another. Two people/characters can be good people/characters but just not be right for one another (romantic or platonically).

Ohhh lord I hate when others use the misogyny card or the sexist when others are just talking about actions that a character did. It has nothing to do with being sexist (unless that’s what some people are doing but I hate how everything is just immediately claimed as sexist when that’s not entirely the whole thing problem at all). No literally sooo many people enjoy criticizing Steve and yet they hate it when people criticize Nancy to the point where it just feels like double standards. And it’s like you’ve committed a sin by just criticizing her - it’s like this whole ‘girlboss’ thing got taken so fucking extreme and that’s the big problem. It’s just ahhh - it’s just gotten so crazy and I just hate the part of the fandom that immediately jumps to sexism and misogyny and other words lol. It’s gotten so exhausting.

Literally I hate how Nancy’s cheating is just never addressed or people don’t see it as cheating. Because she knew that she wanted to be with Jonathan while she was with Steve so that’s emotional cheating and leading on of Steve. And then that whole getting together with Jonathan in season 2 while moments before just mentioning how Steve is her boyfriend/acknowledging Steve’s existence as her romantic partner. And it’s just gah idk it’s sooo weird how some people just won’t admit it. Also yeah I also hate how the duffers just glossed over that.

It’s all good that it got off topic - I also got off topic. And yeahhh I also hate stancy but I also love diving into how just messed up it all is. Like the messiness just fascinates me but also stancy pisses me of so much.

Honestly it's not a trope, but I always avoid writing physical intimacy of any kind & I wish I was better at it haha

Apart from that, I've never written a proper AU (as in, one set in a completely different universe.) I enjoy reading those, and I do love brainstorming for them (especially with a friend) but for some reason I have never felt the urge to write one. Maybe someday!

I also really want to write a fic centred on Sarah Sisko. I wrote for her as part of a Ben-centric fic once (not yet posted) & I got so obsessed with her that now I have to write something completely about her!

Today I got to work. The first hour was teaching my extracurricular class. Then I went directly to my homeroom class, taught their lesson, then sat with my wigglers for the next teacher's lesson because otherwise they run around in the back of the room screaming. (IMHO our school expects two year olds to sit for lessons for way too long. It's 45-50 min total. But I've suggested at least breaking up the lessons before and am always told no by the leaders. I do let the wigglers check out and go read a book or do a puzzle when they really can't sit, because I just think it's ridiculous that two year olds should have so little freedom... but Japan... anyway)

After that I had to frantically get ready for our craft and activity time. Usually I do that during my co-teacher's lesson, but this year there are too many wiggly kids, and my third co-teacher tries to help but because we have so many kid she also has too much she needs to do during that time... After that, we get ready for lunch. Got a lot of kids this year who refuse to eat anything but rice. More than usual. So lunch is pretty much us standing to observe and sneaking quick bites of our own lunches when we can between helping kids eat and encouraging them to eat a teeny tiny bite of literally anything besides rice.

Then they play. We have to take them to the bathroom, clean the tables and chairs, clean the floor, pack away the lunches, change the diapers, log information about lunch and daily activities in their individual notebooks, help the kids pack their bags, and refill their water bottles, while watching them play. Then we do a gross motor activity, then we read a storybook, and then the kids go to nap time.

It's four hours of constantly moving, talking, standing, squatting. Never sitting, lol. Now we do our best to convince the kids sleep is a good idea. I stay through part of my "break" finishing those notebooks. Then I go do my cleaning duty. Then I go to the computer and fill out the required report on our day. Then I have to do 20 assessments, go through all the photos we've taken so far to make scrapbooks of 24 photos for all 20 kids, organize all their crafts and worksheets into the scrapbook, review and upload our class time videos for the parents, plan events, go shopping for materials, make the materials for the next craft, write the newsletter for the parents, and create my lesson plan for next month. I have an hour to do this. I am not being paid for this hour. (Also it's often not even a full hour, but 30 min here, 15 min there.) It is so fucking impossible lol. And the assessment and stuff, it's worse because it's redundant as well as ridiculous. We JUST assessed the same sort of stuff in the kids' progress reports less than a month ago, and now we have to do it all over again with very slight variation for every single kid, AND this assessment will be used to evaluate the kids' readiness for next level, which is just silly because the majority of those who haven't reached certain benchmarks yet will have reached them by the end of the year... utterly silly.

So during this hour I do as much of that as I can, which today meant I did the reports, did some lesson planning, and managed to finish ONE assessment. I have sooo much left to do. When when when. Where is the time for it. I'm not paid a salary. I'm hourly. They literally expect me to do it on my unpaid breaks and whatnot. And it's not even stuff that can be accomplished in an hour - especially when everyone else also needs to accomplish the same things, we're all off duty at the same time, and first come first serve at the computers haha.

Now that hours up, so I go to wake the kids, all 1-3 yos, from their nap. One of the kids throws a tantrum, so my co-teacher takes him outside. They're gone for fifteen minutes, which is precious time right now because there is, again, so much to do. Wake all the kids, get them in their shoes, sitting at the table, drinking their water. Clean up their futons. Take their temperatures. Document stuff in their notebooks agaaaain. Hand out allergy snacks. Hand out home snacks. Hand out school snacks. Check everything off on a plethora of checklists. As they finish, wipe their hands and faces, make them drink more water, help them clean up, check their diapers, change their diapers, watch them play, send them home with their parents or to extracurriculars, clean up the crumbs, clean up the tables and chairs, clean the floor, vacuum, clean up the garbage, watch the kids play.

Because the co-teacher is gone for 15 minutes, I'm the only one, the ONLY one, taking care of all the kids who are eating. I have a kid who will stuff his mouth so full of food that he'll start to choke, so I have to diligently give him one bite at a time until he's finished, in between cleaning. There are two other teachers in charge of diapers and the notebooks (who for some reason just didn't do the notebooks today?? I'm not really sure what happened there). It's supposed to be two and two, so there's no one to help me. I have to do all the cleaning, wiping, diaper-checking, and breaking down by myself. By the time my co-teacher comes back, she's off duty. So I have to deal with tantrum kid too, whose current mood is "say no to everything." He screams while I desperately try to put away all the tables so there's room for kids to walk, and sweep the floor so they don't have to walk on squashed grapes and cake. Between doing all the overseeing and cleaning myself, I was on my feet doing physical stuff for 55 minutes. Usually we're cleaned up in 40 minutes. Ah, there's that 15 minutes. (Not my co-teacher's fault though - the kid needed to be taken care of. It's just that we're expected to do SO MUCH in a single hour.) Also it's really freaking hot, and yeah we use AC, but there's a lot of bodies in the room and when I checked the thermostat, some alien person had set it to 25. I was like nope nope 23, 23 it is. Suddenly the room was a lot more bearable (9_9)

So now I can FINALLY sit down with the kids who are playing. It is literally four minutes till clock out time. I find a kid who threw a fit about changing his diaper, who I'd managed, while cleaning up, to cajole into doing it by himself. He had put his diaper on backwards. I tried to fix it, he tried to run away, he fell and started to cry. This is that kid with the hypersensitive parents I've mentioned before. Guess when his mom decides to arrive? Yup, just that moment.

She acts fine, I fix his diaper, he stops crying and goes off happily. When I go to clock out, I see mom changing his entire outfit. The parents have told us that if their kid sweats, we need to change his clothes. We already change kids' clothes if they get wet or are sweaty. Today we didn't go outside because it's too hot. Their kid didn't get particularly sweaty staying inside. His shirt wasn't wet at all. But the mom changed all his clothes. I am bracing myself to hear about it tomorrow.

But I keep thinking. When the hell was I going to think to change this not sweaty kid's clothes?? At what point during the day did I have a moment to do anything except frantically run around doing as much as I possibly can? I have not sat down all day except to work through my break. I've eaten nothing but a little bit of rice myself because lunch time was so busy. I'm exhausted, hungry, and hot. Someone give me a break to change my sweaty clothes, lol!

I want to do everything possible to keep the kids happy and healthy but I absolutely have no idea when I or my coteachers had a moment to think about anything not 100% essential. I'm just fried.

I felt a little... not vindicated, but seen, I guess, the other week after some leaders came for yearly observations, and their feedback was that our class is doing great, but I'm doing too much. They really encouraged my coteachers to help me more. And while I am most DEFINITELY doing waaaay too much, it's also too much to expect more of co-teachers, because the veteran teacher is also doing a lot more than she should be, and the rookie has only been here a month. She's trying but she hasn't developed the skill for behavior management yet, and she doesn't know how to anticipate what I'm doing. Plus I know she is EXHAUSTED everyday. Last Friday she was so anemic that she had to go lie down and I stayed late to cover her shift. I don't blame her one bit. This is too busy and fast-paced a school for a first-timer learning the ropes. I'm glad it wasn't my first school. She is working really hard and doing so well, and my other co-teacher is amazing. It's none of our fault we just have TOO MUCH WORK, not enough time, and not enough staff.

I'm just counting the days until Obon break, ugh.

oh and their elegant teacher....just imagining how elegant he would find tamaki and the gang. so many fun parallels or contrasts to play with all the kids and the main caste but even the side characters..and all of them are rich and theres no way to know which side or how which group would escalate a ridiculous situation or be the straitman to the situation.

Like, for starters, I love that Scott's first call is always Stiles. The fact that his immediate reaction to "f*ck I messed up" is always "Stiles help" is just so wholesome and also so funny and high-key so necessary sometimes.

THAT SAID.

Absolutely CACKLING at all of Stiles's judgement of Scott and his horrible plan (which, like, in Scott's defense, what was he SUPPOSED to do? They barely know Liam, and explaining the whole "hey you're a werewolf now" thing right then and there and hoping that wouldn't incredibly backfire (though, clearly it backfired regardless lol) probably wouldn't have been much better), especially considering that, as Scott so beautifully points out later, Stiles's plan is also horrible. XD

But seriously, that whole freaking sequence.

Like, the way that Scott is just avoiding telling Stiles exactly what happened (which is ridiculous, because you have to tell him regardless or you're not gonna get anywhere, bud XD), and then the FACE Stiles makes when he sees Liam in the bathtub is just pure gold. And then the way he keeps looking at Scott with this almost parental "what am I gonna do with you?" look as Scott is just going "I'm sorry, I panicked, just help me fix it please". XD

"As a reminder, this is why I always come up with the plans. Your plans suck." "I know. Which is why I called you. So what do we do?"

And then...what was the plan, exactly??

To...scare him even more? To make him feel like you're threatening him? To let him get away?

Because...mission accomplished. XD (Though, as an aside, Liam did such a good job with that manipulation with the crying to escape, so...full pointers, and he is gonna make a great addition to the pack. <3)

Like, the "plan" literally just gets MORE chaotic and just gets EVEN WORSE and I CANNOT with these two. XD XD

They, to paraphrase Stiles, said some very confusing things that only got more confusing because of those confusing things that were already said, without ever really explaining anything, and at this point, Liam probably just thinks he REALLY pissed off the wrong upperclassmen, when really, Scott and Stiles are just complete dumb*sses who have no idea how to handle this new problem they've been presented with and I just... (Though, as an aside, we gotta appreciate that Liam doesn’t pull a Jackson and tell the cops that the boys kidnapped him lol.)

And THEN! When Liam escapes, they're, like, sooo flabbergasted ("Liam what the hell is your problem?") that he's trying to run away as if he should just trust them for some reason.

And then the way they, like, stumble out into the hallway and Stiles just, like, screams to get him (I've seen that gif before sooo many times and seeing it in context is even better) and then just TACKLE him, like...WHAT?!

And then all three of them go tumbling down the stairs, and Stiles is all proud, because he thinks he has him, but then he sees he's just grabbing Scott, and Liam is gone, and Scott is glaring at him, and they just scramble to sit up and stare at the open door and I just...

"Your plan sucked, too."

And the way Stiles just gives him that little “touche" nod because YAH NO SH*T SHERLOCK!!

Things really do tend to go a lot better and a lot smoother when these two have each other, but also....they sometimes play off of each other's chaotic energy a LITTLE too much, and this is the result.

hi! this is mpreg anon from a few months back lol. i just wanted to say i finally got to reading the fic and im sooo!!!!! sobbing and crying, a puddle of love on the floor! you were right. i Know now why you talked about it often.

i really love holly's stankyle. theres something about them that feels very.. desperate? like they know they belong together and sometimes not even physical touch can satiate that need/want?? idk! but agh! i love them sm. holly is also really good at capturing the overall weirdness of south park and thats why she can come up with aus/ideas that are weird or silly and make them work. i also really appreciate that she went for kinks/tropes that not many people give style.

I think you are so so right about them being desperate... it is key for stanky that regardless of how close they get physically, it's like it'll never be enough? Like they are soulmates in every sense of the word, and can never actually satiate their pull... SIGH!!!! IT'S TRUE!!! And holly's ability to nail absurdity is absolutely one of her strongest suits, and something that definitely contributed to how iconic she is. South Park is an absurd show, and holly meets it with such absurdity that Stan and Kyle can stay perfectly in character, because so many of her plots are something that could legitimately BE a South Park episode involving the characters when they're older. Like, Craig and Clyde fucking in the Marsh shed and Craig telling Sheila Kyle needs a psych eval? A+, can and will happen at some point. It's so ridiculous yet somehow believable, and the mpreg fic is literally the BEST example of it. It's a concept that's frankly a huge turnoff for a lot of people (understandably), but she puts it in such a light that she makes it appealing for a ton of people. It's one of those fics that i would recommend even to the most vehement mpreg hater, because there IS something about it that differentiates it from typical fics like that.

AND DESCRIBING IT AS A DREAM COME TRUE IS SO CORRECT? Everything you said in that third paragraph specifically was so fucking real. The fic starts off as such an absolute disaster situation, and despite the multiple disasters along the way, you can absolutely tell that it was like fate in a way? Holly does an incredible job of balancing the understandable stress with the joy and all the happy moments, as well as acknowledging the fact that in the end, Elway seriously did enrich both of their lives. I LOVE THAT YOU POINTED OUT HOW YOU WERE WORRIED ABOUT THE BABY COMING BETWEEN THEM... because it's true!!! It's such a real concern, but she is so good about wrapping it up; the scenes after Kyle gets Elway feel like a dream sequence in how floaty and happy everyone is, and while reading it I was like (as someone who does not want kids), huh. Maybe I need to have a baby? LOLL but seriously you are so right. It IS endless and now they have even more love to go around because of Elway... whatever. WHATEVER!! I'm not even crying. I'm NORMAL!!!!

I totally get your feelings about creek!! I ended up feeling kind of similarly. I'm happy you started expanding your horizons!!! There's nothing wrong with sticking with exclusively creek fic, obv, but there are some real gems out there if you're able to push some of the icks to the side. And maybe you'll even figure out a new ship you like? I remember that I was afraid to read Other People's Tupperware at first because Tweek is literally dead, and Craig hooks up with Kenny? But then I decided to read it (and felt neutral about it!) and it was valuable to me. And then when I read it a few years later, I really loved it. It got me thinking that first time!!! I'M HAPPY I COULD HELP GIVE YOU THAT PUSH!!!

For the most part, he seems as he has for the past four days: loose and roguish, confident and relaxed. But there is some incongruous discipline in his gait—weapons always gripped or easily in reach, hair tied back for a peripheral view. He is a plucked harpstring vibrating with sound, loud and mercurial, always returning back to tension.

4. What's your favorite line of dialogue?

a tough one! but I think I have to go with Lily's analysis of Xenophon's Memorabilia from the academic flashback scene; I'd read so much Greek philosophy to prep for that flashback and for the story in general, it was really fun to incorporate. this one quote is one of my favs, despite it likely being the least accurate from an academic standpoint:

“Er—well,” she begins, “Xenophon’s Memorabilia establishes a relationship between the eyes—the gaze, that is—and human desire…and pleasure, I guess. Not so much that looking at someone is in itself morally condemnable; as Aristotle stated, pleasure derived from sight is not a charge of self-indulgence. What Xenophon outlines is the Greek perception that the eyes are an opening to one’s truest self, to the soul. That love and desire can be communicated more honestly through the gaze than through physical action.”

What inspired you to write the fic this way?

I'd been reading a lot as I was writing pws, and I wanted to produce something written with intention, where almost every sentence could draw meaning and symbolism. not that I actually achieved that, but it was fun to try, lol. also, I really love the idea of exploring Lily's feelings of ostracism and alienation through something like evolution and survival instincts. it felt like an easy connection to make.

3. What's your favorite line of narration?

not to be narcissistic on main but sooo many lines in pws stand out to me. I do think it's some of my best writing, for sure. the lines before each line break were where I really wanted to drill down a sort of punchy, pithy sum-up, and those tended to be my favs. at present I'm tied between:

Though, even if the theory behind it isn’t taught at Hogwarts, it’s not like the concept isn’t there. Kill or be killed. Eat or be eaten. Develop eyes on the back of your head, all-around vision, to wait for the predator stalking through the tall grass—

—Unless, of course, you become it.

4. What's your favorite line of dialogue?

ok, honestly, it's a bit of a weird one. but I love this line

“Sorry. Sorry, that was…that was really weird. I’m drunk. You’re drunk. Sorry.”

that James says to Lily at the party after telling her what he likes about her. I dunno! Naturalism in dialogue doesn't come easily to me—and a lot of the time, I'm not even really seeking it. I think there's something to be said for giving characters the ability to articulate themselves a little better than what would be true-to-life, if only for a story-advancement purposes. but I love how James fumbles here after this big, grand, impactful speech, like the air's been taken from his sails a little bit. I love how many times he says sorry. I like how he sort of needlessly voices "I'm drunk. You're drunk." like an explanation or something.
