I'm sorry this is a bit late, I was really busy the whole day! Also i feel like this isn't too angsty or this isn't as heartbreaking as i wanted it to be haha probably because I'm too tired right now, it's 3:00 am where I live but i really wanted to write it since this concept has been with me since i first started writing and i feel like i can nail it since me and this guy broke up just this last Saturday lol. But idk i don't think i gave this one a justice but please let me know!!

Also i tweeked some of the details of the whole album release as well as the album/song meaning/interpretation itself.

Btw! I'm planning on writing a second part and hopefully a third part which will have a spin off so tell me if you want me to write it!

You're proud. You're so proud of him, so fucking proud of your best friend - your boyfriend. You don't remember the last time you felt like this - you're anxious, excited, scarred - everything and you felt like you might pass out with every tick of the seconds of the clock.

You look like a crazy person. Sitting at the end of the edge of the couch, your foot tapping rapidly along with your ranging mind. Your natural nails now looks awful from how much you've bitten it for God knows how long. Your hair disheveled together with your now wrinkled clothes.

Harry on the other hand looks calm - too calm for your liking and you wanna scream at him for still looking so good even though you know he's also just as tense as you, maybe even more, but you can't. Not on one of the most special occasions in his life.

Tonight is the release date of his second solo album "Fine Line". You couldn't fathom how much sleepless nights he went through just to produce this - along with the crew and you couldn't be any less prideful. Harry has been so hands on, from the tunes, to the lyrics, to the instrumentals, to the photo shoot for the album cover, and even in the promo of the album.

You know everything he went through just to make it to his success right now. All the hardships, the pain, the tears, the laughter, the love - you've been there every step of the way. You never left him like how he left her.

And on that note, you felt like it's unfair if you get to hear the album first. Yes, you're there throughout the making but you never heard all of it. Harry insisted that you listen to the album after he's done recording it and as much as you'd love to, you politely declined and protested to just hear it along with the rest of the world, to which he agreed to.

There's just this thrill you're looking for, the thrill of having something you've wanted for a long time. The desire. The hunger. The yearn of hearing it for the first time after waiting for endless nights.

It's like being away from Harry and waiting in your room, longing for his touch, his kiss, his voice, and his presence and when he comes back - all of those explodes within you and it leaves you with the magical feeling that you couldn't feel anywhere else.

The process has been painful for you. He recorded in a different country and you had to do long distance again. At first it was fine but as the weeks passed, it got harder and harder for the both of you - being away from each other - so H insisted that you flew across the world to join him.

You didn't hesitate to say yes but even then, Harry always stays at the studio for days and comes home only for him to leave again but you understand. It's his work and you knew what you signed up for when you became his girlfriend and you vowed to yourself to fight and do everything you can for this relationship.

He was great though, took you on dates when he can and tried to spend as much time as he can with you because he knows that after the release of his album, the interviews will surely be nonstop and he'll be away again to plan for his promotional tour. You'd wake up with cute notes more often than not, flowers were also delivered almost everyday to where you two are staying.

But you felt it. You felt that he was slowly slipping away. You know it deep inside but you pretended not to notice. Too afraid of being kicked out of this world you created for the two of you. But perhaps he never really slipped away because maybe he was never truly yours in the first place.

Harry is so excited for you to hear his second baby so when the alarm clock went off, he quickly refreshed the website and played the first song. Golden.

You love the vibe. It's only the first song but you know that it'll be added to your personal playlist to jam with. He was looking at you the whole time, gauging your reaction but stayed quiet. The living room's filled with his voice and the lively instrumentals until the outro.

Maybe you're wrong. Maybe he wasn't slipping away and maybe he was truly yours before - and until now. Maybe it was just your mind playing tricks on you. Maybe, just maybe. A fifty - fifty chance for everything you don't know but you didn't let it eat you.

Next, the Watermelon Sugar. It is the song you knew will be a single and will have a music video. Just because you haven't heard the album before doesn't mean it stops Harry from sharing details here and there to you.

Your thoughts ran wild with thought of what the music video could be. The song is everything and you couldn't stop humming along with it and based on your reactions, he knew that he made the right choice of picking it as a single.

He's still yours. He loves you and he never slipped through your fingertips. You're most likely forcing yourself to believe it and so far it's working but you know you have to talk to Harry about the two of you sooner or later because it's not healthy for your health at all - the uncertainty that's currently laying in your persona.

The next two songs - Adore You and Lights Up - are the one's you've already heard before since those are the two that have a music video that came out before his album. Adore You is your favorite song. You're maybe being biased but the song just gives you great energy and you absolutely adored the concept of the video, as well as Harry's looks.

But the Lights Up hits different. You were there when they shoot it but you were sick so you didn't get go watch how they did it and you remembered watching the video for the first time and getting really really bothered by it that Harry had to take you to the nearest ice cream shop to calm you down. Your boyfriend looked so hot in it.

You're enjoying the album so far and you're almost too sure that nothing is wrong - or so you thought. It's silly but for some reason you felt like your relationship lies on this album.

Cherry came next, before, you thought it's gonna be upbeat like the Watermelon Sugar and Kiwi but oh boy, it's the opposite. It's not only the tune. It's the song itself that made you wanna walk out of the room.

You love songs like this, the type of songs that cuts deep within your soul. The type of song that can make you cry instantly but this is different.

You know the song is about her and if it the lyrics wasn't enough to slap you in the face, the voicemail at the end surely did. But this one hits different. Maybe it's because it shows you that Harry is not entirely yours in your relationship and that something inside him longs wants to have her again and it hurts. It crushes you but you're staying strong because like before, it's not certain - a maybe, there's still a chance and you're clinging into that like your life depends on it.

You couldn't look up. You know Harry is watching you. He tried to hide the outro, he almost clicked the button for the next track but you held your hand as a sign to stop. He couldn't hide it from you. The outro is still ringing in your ears like it's coming to get you. You can't. You just simply can't. Her voice with his giggles made you wonder what's running through his mind when he decided to put the voicemail.

You tried to hold your emotions and waited for the next song to start but it didn't get any better. Falling made your tears fall, finally. And when your boyfriend asked you if you're okay, the only response you told him was that, "you were so good with this it's making me really emotional", and he bought it.

He bought your lie. You don't know if you shall be happy or not. Happy because you wouldn't need to explain yourself further or sad because Harry believed it instantly without even asking if you're really okay for the second time.

The chorus hits different. You're baffled at how much emotion he put in that particular song. It felt so wrong but you couldn't do anything about it. You're sad. You're hurt. You don't know what will happen next. So you did what you do best - pretend that everything is alright.

Your mind was absent through the next two songs - To Be So Lonely and She. You still can't get over from the previous songs and it guilt you that you couldn't appreciate these songs as much as it shall be appreciated. All you know is that if Harry made it, it's fucking incredible.

He did mention to you in a low voice that To Be So Lonely is one of his favorites and oh you fucking wonder why but you didn't say it out loud, you kept quiet and pretended that you're analyzing every second of the song. And when he told you that She could be added to your love-making playlist, you only nodded.

The thought of it being added to your love-making playlist sickens you to the core specially now that you're almost too certain that this one is also about her, though you didn't reprimanded.

You tried to compose yourself along with the next song Sunflower, Vol. 6. You faked being happy just for the sake of this day. Yes, it is a happy and loving song but you couldn't enjoy it without overanalyzing the lyrics and the same goes to the next song Canyon Moon.

Who is the "Sunflower" Harry is referring to? You or her? Who will he be coming home to? Will he come running into your arms or will he seek warm in her presence? You hate to question it and you hate feeling this way but you're far too deep and you just wanted to get this night over.

Treat People with Kindness reminded you of your childhood cartoon theme songs and it eased you out. It also made you smile for the first time since Cherry and you could tell that Harry's relieved. It was the first time you looked up from the carpet and you almost thought that the next song is your saving grace. It's the final song anyway.

And it is. The only problem is that the song is you right now. Fine Line. The chorus kept repeating and it made you question your relationship. Is your relationship a fine line? Will the two of you be alright?

Thank God it's the last song because you couldn't wait to ask Harry something that really bothered you tonight. You need to know for your sake and for the sake of this relationship.

You'll be lying if you said you only shed a tear on the last song. No, you sobbed and Harry tried to console you and asked what's wrong and its now or never.

Harry beat you to speaking first though, he asked you why did you cried and you only told him, "I'm so proud of you and I couldn't stop my tears from flowing and I love you so much.", which is not a lie but not the whole truth either.

He only nodded and kissed your forehead as a way of saying his thanks. You're certain that he can feel that you're tired so he chooses to stay quiet and you know that he's already planning for a day off for the both of you tomorrow so you can properly tell him your thoughts on his album.

You we're about to ask him. Ask him if he still loves her but the tune of his phone ringing made you stop. He silently asked you if it's alright to answer it and you agreed.

The next few minutes was his friends and families calling and congratulating him. You don't wanna be bitter or be a mood disruptor but you just really want to think and be alone right now, after all, you deserved it. You signed Harry that you will go upstairs to take a rest and he whispered "I love you" but you only nodded and started walking to the stairs.

He didn't notice that you didn't say it back. He was too caught up with the people on his screen. His cheerful voice rang throughout the ground floor as he talks to the other person on the other line.

You don't wanna think about it as you lay down on your shared bed but you couldn't stop thinking about how much of a possibility for her to call him to congratulate him for the success of his second album. You couldn't stop thinking of how they might talk about their relationship. You couldn't stop thinking if Harry will ask her to come back if she did call. You couldn't stop thinking.

You took your phone from your beside table to open Twitter. Harry and his album is trending and praises after praises we're posted in different languages but most of those are about them. Harry and her.

You're numb.

It is now clear to you that the whole album is about her. You never asked or wished to have a song written about you but you also never expected him to dedicate the album solely to her, his ex from two years ago. You get it, you really do. The best songs came from the writers' personal experiences but to basically tell the world that he still wants her breaks you into pieces.

There gotta be at least one line about you. You, the one he is with now and not her. You, the one who's loving him now, not her. You, the one who didn't leave him unlike her. It's you and not her.

But no matter how much you repeat it in your mind, you know it's not you. You love Harry and you tried. Tried supporting him through the day much like all the other days but it's so hard when the universe already shot you with the truth.

You're still proud of him, it will never change but you need something. You have to have something to hold on to because right now you're only grasping to this very little hope that might save your relationship. You're proud but hurt and you hate yourself for not being there. None of it is about you. It's about her. Her and him. Her and Harry. Never you and Harry.

He never even warned you that the album is about her, it seems like he wanted to surprise you but you know he's not cruel but maybe you're just trying to defend him from yourself.

Or maybe he didn't thought you'd think this way. After all he doesn't put meanings behind his songs so you couldn't really get any answer from having him explain to you every song.

Your own interpretation's more than enough though. He still wants her. Maybe he did became yours even just for a second but his love for her is eternal and so he slipped away. You couldn't pretend anymore - not now when you're alone and you can show your emotions, so you sobbed.

You cried for you and Harry. You cried for what you thought was something so beautiful and unbreakable. You cried for what would've been a great night for the both of you and last but not the least, you cried for your uncertain tomorrow.

Tomorrow when you wake up, you don't know if Harry still wants you, you don't know if you can fix this, you don't know if you can still be with him.

Now, you realized it. Tomorrow there might be nothing, no world where only the two of you exists because tomorrow might be the end. The thought of that made you cried harder than you already are. It's so unfair. You love him so much but it doesn't seem enough and no matter how many excuses you naïvely say to yourself, you know it couldn't change the fact that it's her and him - it has always been her and him.

You're too tired and just wanted to sleep, hopefully get a clearer view out of all of this when you wake up.

I just finished listening to the last track after a long time and omg ..pure perfection. What do you think he means with "there's things that we'll never know?" I always wondered about that. The song is hard to pin point for me because it feels like he sings about a lover, an ex, a partner and a soulmate all at the same time. The back and fourth chant between 'We will be a fine line' and 'we will be alright' at the end sounds as if he's not sure himself 😭 can you do a song analysis plz?

Okay. Firstly, hi! I’m literally always here for some Fine Line appreciation, so I’ll happily do an analysis! In a crazy twist of events, both Falling and Adore You beat it on my most listened to songs on Spotify this year, BUT, I think that’s because it’s so deeply emotional, I can’t listen to it endlessly (like I can with Falling when I’m having a breakdown at 2am). So yes, agreed, it’s PURE BLOODY PERFECTION.

I’ll admit I do also find this song and its meaning incredibly hard to pinpoint. It feels sooooooo damn vunerable but at the same time, it makes me want to go full English teacher mode because what the fuck does any of it mean? For that reason, I think it’s one of the most intimate and closest looks that Harry gives us at his love life. Because, it’s almost like we don’t have to understand it. It’s not for us. It’s for his person, you know? It’s like he shared a song with us that was only ever meant to be heard by that one person. So, I’m going to try my best with this lyric analysis but please forgive me because honestly, I don’t think I’ll even be scratching the surface of Harry’s intentions with Fine Line.

Put a price on emotion

I'm looking for something to buy

This opening is confusing. I interpret these as Harry saying he would literally pay anything for the happiness that this person provides him with, buuuut of course emotions are priceless and the price he has to pay for their ups is all of the downs too.

You've got my devotion

But man, I can hate you sometimes

IMO, these are the clearest lines in the entire song. This is him saying, you’ve got me, you’re never going to lose me because I love you TOO DAMN MUCH but MAN you do piss me off! If you’ve ever read about twin flame connections, that’s the vibe these lines give me… This person isn’t just a lover but his missing half.

I don't want to fight you

And I don't wanna sleep in the dirt

We'll get the drinks in

So I'll get to thinking of her

I read ‘the dirt’ here as any version of life without this person. As though it doesn’t really matter how much they’re fighting, how awful the world is around them, it could never be worse than being without one another. ‘We’ll get the drinks in’ says to me, this fight isn’t over, and I’m still upset about this mysterious ‘her’ but, I know I need you.

We'll be a fine line x6

Ahhhh… the fine line between what? Love and hate, needing one another and wanting to be apart? The repetition is what really does it for me here. Harry repeating this line 6 times seems to suggest that they’ve face a lot of hardship, and he knows there’s more to come, but that there’s no way they could do it without one another.

Test of my patience

This just builds on the chorus and the last verse. This whole relationship is a test of his patience. It’s not a test he’s going to fail, but damn it’s not easy either!

There's things that we'll never know

This is the line you asked about specifically and I totally get why! Harry is so cryptic. For me, this is Harry referencing the early days of this relationship, which I get the sense was when they were both young and naïve. The things they’ll never know is how and why it’s ended up so complicated, or why so much is expected of them. Also, this describes the moment I think I went through at some point in my early twenties, when you surpass a certain level of intelligence and recognise that you only know a minimal fraction of how the world works. Harry and his person will never know why they found one another, what brought them together and to this point, they just know that it’s right.

You sunshine, you temptress

My hand's at risk, I fold

I love this line, because it’s like he’s confirming that despite allllllll of the hatred that this person can instill in him, they’re still the source of his light. They’re the gold from Golden, the Sun of Sunflower Vol 6. He’s discarding his cards, ‘folding’, because trying to fight his feelings is useless, trying to walk away from this person will never work.

Crisp trepidation

Just, so much nervousness. So much apprehension. It’s been a long time and this person still lights a fire in him.

Spreading you open

Said it before and I’ll say it again. The most beautiful line he’s ever written. The only way I can describe why this line resonates so much with me is because it’s like… this relationship he’s talking about, despite all the shit it’s going through and how he can ‘hate’ them sometimes?? It’s still not toxic. No one’s doing any unhealthy idolising. This person may be his sun, they may be the most beautiful thing in his life but he’s also spread them so far open that he’s seen them at their absolute worst… and he still loves them?? Like he’s so aware that they exist both as a part of his life and as a whole nuanced person. (For me this line ALONE crushes the rads claims that Harry is a narcissist because narcissists aren’t capable of the empathy that it implies)

We’ll be a fine line x12 We'll be alright x2 fine line x 2 We'll be alright x 3

I think the jumping back and forth between alright and fine line suggests that Harry is aware their fight isn’t over. Whatever it is that they’re battling, it’s still here, they’re not done yet. But, I have to say I don’t get the sense he isn’t sure. I get the sense that Harry is saying ‘We’ve got through this before, we can do it again. I know it’s going to be fucking hard, but I know we can. And we’ll be alright, we always are.’ When he ends the song, he ends it KNOWING they’ll be alright.

All in all, I think that this song is meant to be about a soulmate, a once in a lifetime connection type of relationship. Someone who knows you better than you know yourself. The reason he hates them sometimes, is they make him realise all of the things he hates about himself. But they’ll always be his Sun, his light, no matter how thin the ‘fine line’ between love and hate grows.

It’s just gorgeous.

Fine Line Album Review

Golden

Great, great choice of opener. I agree with Harry, it def sounds like a song I want to drive down the highway to :) I love the layered vocals and the summery background vocals. Love the vocals panning back and forth in your ears during the bridge. Love the slide guitar that comes towards the end, and that his voice goes up an octave. This song leaves me feeling excited and ready for an adventure.

Watermelon Sugar

This song is and always will be a BOP. I love the horns in this song, they add a lot to the song. This is a really funky song, I esp love his vocals on the “I just wanna taste it, I just wanna taste it, watermelon sugar high” parts. Camille said in an interview once that this was her favorite book so this is a subtle little hint from Harry. I do wish he’d changed up the chorus a little, but other than that, all good.

Adore You

I love love love the thick bass that runs like a river through this song. So sexy. This song is also such a bop. This song has some really tasteful guitar licks and an amazing chorus - super melodic and those harmonies after “like it's the only thing I'll ever do’ are so beautiful. I don’t see myself getting tired of this song.

Lights Up

I still love this. I love that the opening acoustic guitar gets louder and louder as it kicks off. The drums at 0:18 (and again at 1:44) are two of the sexiest moments on the record, no doubt. I love the dreamy feel this song has, the groove sits so well in the pocket. Same with his lighter, more uplifting voice. Love the scream before the “step into the light” lyric, and the choir effect is super cool. This song is like laying in the dark with colorful floaty lights everywhere.

Cherry

I love this song very much a lot. I love the quiet, folky plucked opening guitar, and it’s so cute that the song starts with Camille’s “coucou”. This song is the perfect example of the pettiness Harry has referred to. The lyrics “don't you call him what you used to call me” and “does he take you walking around his parent's gallery” are such petty lyrics, haha. Love that throughout the song you hear the “coucou” parts here and there in the background - nice little detail. The crescendo towards the end is beautiful, even though I do wish the drums were a little louder by the end, but wow. And I actually really love the voicemail. It makes the song feel so much more personal. We’re hearing something that initially wasn’t for us, but he chose to share it in this song and it fits so well.

Falling

LISTEN. This is currently my favorite song on the album. This was the first song I went back to after I’d finished the record for the first time. This tune sounds like a breaking heart.. and THAT you can’t teach. Can we talk about the riff he adds on the third “falling” in the choruses? STUNNING. I love how emotionally invested he is in each song on this record, it’s so cleverly done across the whole board, his voice connects the lyrics to the sentiment and tone perfectly. *chef’s kiss*

“What if I'm someone you won't talk about?” “what if I’m someone I don’t want around?” - those lyrics go straight to my heart, every single time. There’s no irrelevant shit with this song. And the last “I’m falling” he sings where his voice breaks because of the passion he’s singing it with, made me tear up when I first heard it. Truly a ‘wow’ moment on this record. I LOVE it. *grabs another tissue*

To Be So Lonely

Love the dulcimer in this song, and the double cello bass. I love the more arrogant and flippant tone this song has. It’s a little more tongue-in-cheek, after some self-reflection and realization perhaps...? And it’s so petty that he sings “don’t call me baby again” after learning that that’s what Camille used to call him in Cherry, haha. At 1:12 he lights up a match and then blows it out. He’s so good at adding these little things that make the whole sonic landscape really interesting. Nice nice nice.

She

Again, I love the thick and prominent bass you hear in this. Def hear his Pink Floyd admiration here. Again he changes up his vocals and we hear his voice in an octave we haven’t heard much of - really cool. This song is over 6 minutes long, and I like that he's challenging our attention span with these longer songs. You get so used to the standard format of 3 and a half minute song, but by adding that guitar solo I’m reminded of the rock songs of the 60′s and 70′s where they made these longer songs all the time. I think I’ll appreciate this even more live than I do on the record actually.

Sunflower, Vol 6

Very fresh-sounding, interesting and trippy. I feel like I’m on a tropical island with this one. I love how much he experiments with new sounds - fun that they brought in a sitar here. And again he’s using his vocals in a really cool way, adding layers, echo, and reverb. Love the “I couldn't want you anymore, kiss in the kitchen like it's a dancefloor” lyric. And the added lil thing of taking deep breaths before starting several of the lyrics. No one is making songs like this now?? Saw someone describe this as “This song is the cute part of a romance movie where they’re just vibing and doing cute shit together” and I agree.

Canyon Moon

I feel like harvesting some corn, haha. I’m getting summery vibes during the cold Norwegian winter and thank you for that, Harry. The campfire handclaps are really fun and jovial. This song feels very Simon & Garfunkel-ish imo and again, there’s so much is going on sonically. The whistling in the background is cute. This song makes me feel like we’re a young couple in the 70’s traveling around the world.

Treat People With Kindness

This song is giving me major Queen/musical but also commercial vibes?? I do appreciate the sentiment behind this song - it brings a dose of positivity and it’s warm-hearted. We do need this message in 2019 for sure. The “here we go”, “one more time”, “just a little more kindness” and “all together now” are really fucking cute but this is my least favorite on the album. Sorry.

Fine Line

What a fucking way to close off the album, wow. Very Bon Iver-y with the layered vocals and the reverb. This feels very emotional, very raw, very intimate.

I like that throughout the album we heard a few different variations of ‘sun’ references when it comes to Camille. Addressing her as “golden”, “sunflower”, and here again with “you sunshine you temptress”. I love how he holds some of the notes and leaves them lingering a little, and it’s really beautiful to hear how easily he goes up into a falsetto from his head voice. After feeling like I’m standing in the rain, the skies finally open towards the end and we’re greeted with sunshine. The trumpets and drums that kick in adds to a more optimistic and joyous ending.

And ending the song and the album with “we’ll be alright” - what a beautiful message to leave us with <3 This song is gorgeous and it’s gonna be incredible live.

Final thoughts

All in all, I’m super happy and impressed with his sophomore album. My faves are Falling, Adore You, Lights Up, Golden, Cherry, and Fine Line. I love that he’s paving his own way and not following any trends. He’s also experimenting so much with new sounds on this album and using a lot of different vocal techniques. which keeps things really interesting for us listeners. The one “complaint” I have, is that he tends to get a bit repetitive with his lyrics, esp on his choruses. But ugh, I really love this album, it’ll be on heavy rotation forever and I can’t believe he’s making music like this at 25 tbh. He’s amazing and I’m reallyyy proud. 🥺

fine line: the album (a commentary / best songs list)

disclaimer: I love every single song on this album. I will never not love them. I just happen to love some songs more than others.

Harry Styles is a mans. a mans who I adore. a mans I cherish. even more so since he released this beautiful masterpiece of an album that I still listen to at least 3 times a day. this is me finally externalizing my love for this album and its individual pieces of heaven i.e. songs.

1. Golden

an underrated queen. she’s beauty, she’s grace, she’s miss united states. nothing gets me up and bopping like this song and harry was nothing but CORRECT when he made this the intro to the album. a ride from beginning to end, albeit more a road trip down the coast than a roller-coaster.

favourite lyric: “You’re so golden. I’m out of my head and i know that you're scared because hearts get broken.”

2. To Be So Lonely

I can't explain it. it's just the vibe of the song. it's so up my alley and slightly different to his other songs, I really can't help but love it. that guitar or whatever it is throughout? the strumming? the violin (or cello?) before the bridge?? take all my money. if you think about it, it gradually gets a bit more dark as the song goes, which is so cool. and also yeah, I relate way too hard to this.

3. Adore You

do I even need to explain this one.

4. Sunflower, Vol. 6

i actually feel like skipping through a meadow or a field of sunflowers, wearing a flower crown and and a yellow dress and strappy sandals and just being in the sunshine. it is everything good in the world poured into a 3:46 song.

favourite quote: "your flowers just died, plant new seeds in the melody."

5. Cherry

I know this is actually kind of a sad song but man how CUTE is this. I hope his ex listened to it and got only good vibes because you can tell that he really loved and appreciated this relationship. and yeah he's bummed that she's moved on but you can sort of hear the resignation? either way, cherry makes me want to be on a boat on a windy day with a milkshake in my hand.

favourite quote: "i just miss your accent and your friends. did you know I still talk to them?"

6. She

someone said 'woman walked so she could run' and I couldn't agree more. there's not even a specific setting this could be listened in but it's worth listening to anyway. and that guitar solo? whew chile.

7. Falling

I know I know, it's lower on this list than most but hear me out! usually my favourite song on any album is the sad one and falling used to be my favourite. I still love this song too death, but I don't know if I overplayed it or it just doesn't hit the same now that I'm not in my feelings about a boy. doesn't matter anyway because this song is a masterpiece the whole way through, I have little to no complaints.

8. Fine Line

this is just a vibe. it's a pick-me-up without being too peppy, which is great when you just want to feel a bit better without using a lot of energy. and the VOCALS. falsetto all the way through, that's what I'm TALKING ABOUT.

9. Watermelon Sugar

I love this song. I bop to this song. the only reason this song is so low is because I love the others a bit more, which doesn't diminish the love I have for this song. and I just KNOW the music video is going to give us what we deserve, and I don't mind being fed.

10. Canyon Moon

this song is so cute. the way he sings moon has watered my plants. imagining domestic life with Harry is just *chefs kiss*. the HARMONIES. the FLAVOUR.

11. Lights Up

I live and breathe this song. this song sounds like if I was at a house party and I was high off of something so everything is moving in slow motion and everyone's on the dance floor swaying and there's like, strobe lights or something. or maybe I've been influenced by the music video, idk.

favourite quote: "all the lights couldn't put out the dark running through my heart"

12. Treat People With Kindness

again, just because she's last don't mean I don't love her. this is a song for when I'm ridiculously happy and want sunshine and rainbow stickers on all my possessions and I'm suddenly seized with the need to dress like it's the 80s. I love love love the message and I still want a tpwk hoodie but ya girl is broke. the only reason I put her last is because I'm rarely ever that happy so I'm rarely in the mood to shake my booty to this. once again, I still really love her and I think she deserves more attention and love from the stans in general, she's THAT song.

CALM by 5SOS - almost-review

i never know how to rank / rate songs so i am just here to scream and share the vibes

overall??? i really enjoyed myself. i’ve listened to them on and off over the years (”good girls” smacks and i refuse to argue about this), but properly got on board with youngblood. and then this happened. and i am So Stoked to be here.

red desert: this is such a good album opener??? chills?? i danced around my room listening to it on repeat? like this album kicks ass but how do you get to the rest of it when this is the first song on the album? it feels like a roadtrip that you never want to end - incredibly cinematic. maybe it’s their famous ensemble vocals, or the cool western-y beat, but like.... sign me up, y’all

no shame: this was my favorite single. it was “teeth” and then it was this. the aesthetic is flawless, the bass line gives me chills. i put it on several playlists. also i’m such a sucker for songs criticizing fame/the industry, and this one was so fun and very tongue-in-cheek. (also “digging my grave to get a reaction”? bruh.) each time i re-listen, i get something new out of it.

old me: sentimental. tender. put this on the same score as “little league” by conan gray (a lot of good music has come out recently.) it’s a love song to the self above all things, and i love that for them. and it’s not narcissistic / not self-defeating; it’s earnest. instrumentally, it is a little simpler than some of the other pieces (until the drums kick up some), but y’know what? it genuinely works for this song. no disapproval here.

easier: i wasn’t huge on this at first. however, it makes a lot of sense in the overall sound of this album, and i find it growing on me. it fits the themes of the album and we love cohesive albums without total repeats. plus how can you say no to luke’s falsettos? exactly, you can’t. carry on with reading this.

teeth: this song is about a guy and his hot werewolf girlfriend who’s having trouble handling her transformations. i will not be taking criticism at this time. okay - also much like no shame, the energy of this song is incredible for me. it’s kinda sexy, don’t judge me. i appreciate this song as one of the more gritty pieces. i understand why some people aren’t loving it, but this kind of energy is my jam.

wildflower: THE! OPENING!! everyone say THANK YOU CALUM HOOD, his vocals make me go :’) i love the genius commentary about this song, about how it’s a great positive, euphoric stadium song without being cheesy. this is also going on the roadtrip playlist. “sunflower vol. 6″′s more hype sibling. using the phrase “a fatal love song” makes me think that they’re afraid of how happy they are. (which hurts.)

best years: :-) BUMP THIS SONG AT A WEDDING. i love that this song is luke’s favorite. (i like that michael is on it too.) any song that uses the term “darling” instantly wrecks me, it’s so sincere. i am getting teary-eyed right now as i write this. in comparison to some of the others, this song is so certain of the love it expresses, no matter how unsure things have been or will continue to be. it is youth and maturity, hand-in-hand.

not in the same way: this seriously feels like a coming-of-age movie soundtrack piece. this could’ve been in someone great on netflix? (netflix hit me up i will write a movie for you.) the phrase “hurricane insert name” feels so personal? this song has big personal ouches for me personally. it’s so unsteady and so heartbroken over a relationship that you can’t make sense out of. :-(

lover of mine: i want someone to sing this to me as we fall asleep. this might be one of the best love songs they’ve ever done. “when i take a look at my life and all of my crimes, you’re the only thing i think i got right.” like?? holy shit. love a good love song about second chances. i want to give luke hemmings a hug after this.

thin white lies: putting this song right after “lover of mine” feels like a crime. (it is, i’m in pain.) the pleading for clarity after being hurt hits different. (it’s a theme in songs that i am quite fond of, because it’s so human to just want to know why.) you can practically read the letter this person wrote to evoke these words. also like, you can tell pretty quick, but using this title is a fine line away from “lines.” implying a dangerous addiction.... woof.

lonely heart: this has a similar guitar pattern to lover of mine? maybe another song? and i want to know if it’s On Purpose. i think so because it’s def a similar one - but it’s more declarative! lover of mine is in the quiet of your room and lonely heart is standing on a rooftop, pleading with the stars to let the lover stay. (also shoutout to the union vocals in this mmmm good) (this album has a lot of those and it.... is good.)

high: the breath on the first “highly” sent chills down my spine. he keep doing that and i’m in love. this song weirdly makes me want to cry? no actually i do know - ending this album about having to move on from someone who won’t remember you is, again, a crime. a lovely crime, because it’s a damn good work. i almost want it earlier in the album?? but like. again. i do get it. i must reiterate that.

i’m gonna go listen to it for the rest of the day bye

golden: this is @emotionally-imbruised. ken is such a fun, happy, upbeat person. chatting with her and hanging out with her irl always lifts my spirits. she just has this unmistakable positive energy, so when i think of a friend who embodies this song, its definitely her

watermelon sugar: im gonna cheat a bit here and say that this is @yousunshine-youtemptress and @shesaidbirights. im just so inexplicably fond of han and sushi. they’re both wonderful and i love talking with them because they’ve both got a lot of spunk just like this song :-)

adore you: definitely @harrysorbit. why, you may ask? because i fucking adore gina! we only started talking relatively recently but she’s quickly become one of my really good friends here on tumblr dot com. i just love her so much and i truly think that she deserves the world.

lights up: this is the lovely @harrysroleindunkirk. this song is funky as hell but it also makes me feel oddly calm for some reason, like im just vibing if that makes sense? and that’s exactly how justine makes me feel too. she’s a master at hyping people up but she can also be super serious when the time calls for it, and i love that about her.

cherry: this is 100% @mushyharry. don’t ask me why because im not even completely sure myself. skye is just so dainty and feminine and even though cherry is a sad song, the melody gives me that same vibe. also, cherry is one of my fav songs on the album, and skye is one of my fav mutuals, so you do the math!

falling: i feel like this is @btapants. celine and i don’t talk super often but idk whenever i see her on my dash i feel like she gives off these super calm vibes. i know falling is a bit of a sad song but that’s not why i associate it with her lol, i think that it’s a really big cathartic moment on the album and i’ve found that celine is always 100% honest on her blog so i see the similarities.

to be so lonely: this is definitely @all-things-fic, and not just because she loves the song as much as i do. liz is very level-headed (at least, in my opinion) but when you get to know her, she’s also got this funny and quirky side which makes me basically view her as an embodiment of the melody :’)

she: this is adriana @doyouknowhoyouare without a doubt. she fucking adores this song and i see why, i just feel like whenever i listen to it i think of her now! the song is sultry (and adriana is usually playing the wh*re in my dms so.....) and also the instrumental at the end reminds me of her because it absolutely goes off

sunflower, vol. 6: this is my angel @trulymadlysydney. this song is such a sweet, innocent proclamation of love, and i feel like it fits sydney perfectly. she’s always so so kind and sometimes she just randomly messages me to check up on me which makes me 🥺 i feel like we understand each other very well (thanks astrology) and because of that, i always feel really safe/comfortable talking to her. she’s basically this song personified

canyon moon: this is @canyonmoonqueer! this song is folky and fun and quirky, just like chelsea. she and i don’t talk super often but i admire how comfortable she is in her own skin and how she’s so unapologetically herself. she’s one of those people that just gives off kooky yet cozy vibes, so i feel like the song fits her v well

treat people with kindness: this is @imethiminthemorning. every single conversation i’ve had with bee has been the most wonderful thing, im not even kidding. she is one of the kindest and most supportive people you’ll meet on this hellsite. im just so fond of her and her attitude and how much of a sweetheart she is!

fine line: this is my friend tanvi @gucciwoodnymph. i really love her to death and i feel like she embodies this song completely. she gives off a very calm vibe but once you get to know her she’s so funny and animated and i feel like that’s very similar to how this song reaches its crescendo, if that makes sense. idk i just love her a whole lot.

FINE LINE

After some long and stressful days, I finally took the time to light some candles, put on some headphones and listen through Fine Line. I know I’m super-late with this but here are some thoughts…

#01 Golden

His voice sounds really rich. The song sounds very hopeful and vulnerable.

#02 Watermelon Sugar

Very intimate, I think it refers to experiences that are very specific to him and another person. The song makes me feel like I just picked strawberries and I’m feeding them to the love of my life straight from my whicker basket.

#03 Adore You

Genuinely a great love song! The lyrics are very intense at points but the song feels extremely breezy.

“You don’t have to say you love me, you don’t have to say nothing.“

#04 Lights Up

In my opinion the whole song is about his struggle with fame and authenticity, coming into his own.

“Could but wouldn’t stay“ to me sounds like a nod to the people accusing him of wanting to quit the band and hating his bandmates. “I’m not ever going back“ I think is about him becoming more comfortable with expressing himself and seeing our support.

#05 Cherry

Very obviously a breakup song… Sounds absolutely beautiful. I love the way he sings in the beginning, so conversational. I’m obviously very biased, but I hate the voice note at the end, it doesn’t seem like a part of the song, very “tacked on.“

#06 Falling

Also very breakup-y… His voice emotes so well in this song! It tugged right on my heart strings. I think this comparison before has been made before but:

“I’m in my bed and you’re not here“ ↔︎ “Nothing wakes you up like waking up alone“

#07 To Be So Lonely

I heard the beginning notes of this one and my immediate thought was this is where Joni Mitchell comes in! Very reminiscent of his Rolling Stone playlist in general… He’s just a jealous guy and all that. Sounds very raw and simple but complex at the same time.

“Don’t blame me for falling, I was just a little boy.“

#08 She

Such a fantastic, beautiful ballad… made me feel so comfortable and comforted right away. As someone who’s been in love with a girl before, it was very relatable. The WLW ballad I hoped it would be.

“She sleeps in his bed while he plays pretend.“

#09 Sunflower Vol. 6

The song I was most excited for prior to listening. And it did not disappoint! It’s so immersive and beautiful. Very chill and domestic, but so fun! I just kept thinking I love this man!!

“Kiss in the kitchen like it’s a dance floor.“ “I’m still tongue tied…“

#10 Canyon Moon

Immediately gives off a feel-good vibe. Makes me want to put on a sundress and dance barefoot in a meadow with grass tickling between my toes. Very I’ve been in love with you for forever.

“I’ll be gone too long from you […] Two weeks and I’ll be home.“

#11 Treat People With Kindness

The Gospel Truth? Feels like the opening to a musical about the journey of the kindest man on earth making his way through life. I absolutely can’t wait to see him perform this! So fun!

“If we’re here long enough they’ll sing a song for us and we’ll belong.“

#12 Fine Line

Sounds so ethereal! The lyrics scream of a committed relationship and are so reflective and mature.

“You sunshine, you temptress.[…] Spreading you open is the only way of knowing you.“

Fine Line - Ranking as of Right Now

Okay, so I’m not really great at the whole ranking thing because I can never chose a favorite song and then there’s like not really choosing a least favorite song either. But here are my thoughts and “ranks” after a few listens. My “reviews” are not super detailed... I might work on one over the weekend if y’all want, but these are simply my day 1 “reviews”

1. To Be So Lonely

On my first initial listen on my way to work this morning, this was the first song that really caught my attention and stuck with me. The chorus especially. Also, love the arrangement and the sound of the song in general.

2. She

Honestly, I’m ranking this as my “#2″ simply for the guitar portion at the end of the song. It’s so fucking sick and reminds me a lot of why I’m So Afraid is one of my favorite Fleetwood Mac songs. I’m telling you a sucker for guitar riffs/solos. Now, when it comes to the song as a whole, so good. I love the vibe of it.

3. Adore You

Out of the three songs the were released prior to the album, this quickly became my favorite. It’s catchy, it’s the type of song that you find yourself just dancing around to wherever you are. And the whole hype of Eroda could have something to do with it as well.

4. Falling

LITTERALLY WAS HAVING FEELS WHILE DRIVING TO WORK. As the song went on I was just “What? What? Why? Poor Thing?”. His vocals on this song are everything! I really hope Harry performs this song while he, himself, plays the piano, but I feel like we won’t get the since he has band, but you never know. It also kinda reminds me of something I would have listened to back in the day.. like the sound of it, if that makes any sense.

5. Cherry

I’ll admit I wasn’t sure how I would feel about this song because of everything that was speculated about it prior. However, I really, really, enjoy this song. Sonically, I feel like it kinda has a mix of Sweet Creature with a hint of Woman towards the end. Maybe it’s just me... but when I listen to it for the second time, those two songs came to mind.

Like I said before, I feel indifferent about the whole voice note thing... I think the song works both with it and would work without it, but I get why it was added in. The effect on it, a little weird at first. It took me off guard on the first initial listen, but it’s fine to me now.

6. Watermelon Sugar

This song is just catchy and I loved it since we first heard within the first few minutes of SNL, Ha! It’s just a fun song to sing, dance, and jam out to in my car. Plus, the trumpet/horns fit it perfectly!

7. Canyon Moon

THE COUNTRY VIBE I’VE BEEN WANTING FROM HARRY! I’m not a huge country music fan, mostly 90′s country, along with the Country Legends, and few newer artists, but I do enjoy country music. It’s not super country, but it definitely gives me that vibe. It’s also like a country-esque vibe with the sounds of the 70′s. Plus, I love the way he sings Canyon Moon.

8. Fine Line

As I’m writing this out, I feel like it should actually belong higher up on the list... anyway, it’s the PERFECT song to end the album with. I love how it starts out slow and then builds up to the ending. Between the lyrics, the change in tempo throughout the song, it really sums up the sound and vibe of the album as a whole, which makes perfect sense on why he chose this has the title track.

Usually, I’m not a fan of repeating choruses as its the same line over and over and over, but it works so well in this song and quite frankly is needed. I don’t think it would give off the same meaning if the chorus was written differently. Every time I’ve listened through the album and this song ends, I get the feeling of, okay, now what am I supposed to do with myself now? Like I’m just supposed to go on about my day, now?

Also, had this song came out when One Tree Hill was on, this would have been a song they would have used at the end of an episode, I just know it.

9. Lights Up

When I first listened to this song, it was while I was watching the video and we all know what the was, so the first initial listen I was so confused as to what was going on that I didn’t really listen to the song that much. Lol. However, I do really like this song and I hate ranking it at #9, but the only reason I’m giving it that ranking is because I enjoy other songs on the album a little bit more.

10. Golden

This song is simply ranked at number ten because when I was listening to it in my car this morning, I thought my volume was down because of the beginning, so I turned it up even more and then all of sudden the song really gets going and it scared the shit out of me. HAHAHA. But know, I enjoy this song a lot. The sound, the vibe, the lyrics, his voice, really like it, just- I don’t know.

11. Sunflower Vol. 6

Um, simply putting this at #11 because on my first initial listen, I wasn’t really that in to it. It’s a grower and I am enjoying it more than before as I listen to the album more.

12. Treat People With Kindness.

Okay, I know what you’re thinking. Since this is #12 it must be my least favorite right? Not really. I really like and enjoy this song and the sound of it. However, on the first initial listen I had no fucking clue what was going on with the beginning I was hella confused. The real reason why it’s listed as number twelve is due to the fact that on my second listen of this song, all I could picture was Harry singing this song with the kids of the Brady Bunch. I don’t know why, but I get that vibe and I can’t help, but laugh when I hear the song because of that.

Overall, I honestly don’t believe there’s a bad song on here. I know everyone has their own opinions and musical tastes, but even the songs I didn’t necessarily enjoy the first go around, I’ve ended up feeling different about them with each listen. I know we’ve only had it less than a day, but I feel like I can say I prefer this album over HS1 (Still love and cherish her) But, I understand completely in what Harry means about feeling more free/open to do what he wanted with this album and not holding back anything.

I can’t wait to hear this live and see what he’s got in store for this era!

MY FIRST IMPRESSIONS ON FINE LINE TRACK BY TRACK IDK WHY I THOUGHT IT COULD BE FUN PLEASE SHARE YOURS TOO OR MESSAGE ME WHAT YOU THINK OK

1. GOLDEN

i feel like it is a very easy and light song, quite repetitive? but i think it’s the vibe he wanted. side A songs seem very summery and idk optimistic? am i making any sense lol i love his voice so so much aaaaa TAKE ME BACK TO THE LIGHT ..much too think about. but uh... brown my skin just right? what?

oh and i thought this was the shroom song where he bit his tongue etc but there are many contenders right kfjdsllfd

2. WATERMELON SUGAR

before it came out i was absolute sure it would be a bitter breakup song, so i was caught off guard dfhkdghd it’s my own fault though. very very fun and catchy and upbeat. his lyrics are sooooo visual in this album !!!! i love it !!!!! i want your belly still kills me... this song live is another level. AMAZING.

3. ADORE YOU

YES. BASS. it’s hard to decide what i love the most in this song, the vocals and background vocals or the lyrics!! i mean, lyrics are a bit of my thing but ye.. i interpreted it as harry asking someone like can i fall for you? maybe because that is 100% me. i can only give all of me in a relationship and i think it’s the best part of it, being vulnerable and open to feel all the feelings without overthinking. sorry i love it.

4. LIGHTS UP

OH MY GOD. i cannot explain how much i fell in love with this song. like obsessed. between hs1 and the 3 singles, it’s my favorite harry song EVER but we’ll see... that’s everything i needed to hear and it is so inspiring and beautiful to see him explore and experiment and love life and accept himself. i could go on and on. the music video is perfect i have no words. ahhh

5. CHERRY

i knew i was going to love this one when he said it was about being petty when things don’t go our way... oof. i do relate a lot to even the images he created, it hits hard. but it also is heartbreaking. it’s so sad. and there’s so much emotion and storytelling i feel like i’m going through it with him and it kinda hurts. beautiful beautiful beautiful. i don’t know shit about production or melodies but the instrumental part is perfect, it’s so involving. it’s one of my favorites and i cryyyy

6. FALLING

i could tell side B was going to be sad. and also my favorite. he talked about the chorus and jesus, that’s me. always, but specifically right now. so maybe that’s why i instantly started crying as i heard the first note. again with the visual lyrics !!! it just puts you in this mindset. idk it hits hard and i need more time to deal with it. right now i can only cry. ALSO THE FUCKING VOCALS. the whole album is another level but this song specially? breathtaking.

7. TO BE SO LONELY

again i knew i would connect with this song. but it makes me sad that it seems like the relationship made him doubt himself so much, i feel that in falling as well. i mean.. relatable, but it breaks my heart. this is where i remembered it was a break up album ahsgdjhfs it feels a little more upbeat? it could be just me. it reminds me of some indie band but i can’t figure out which one but i love love love it. what i get is like he wasn’t in denial anymore at this point, he was accepting things weren’t going well and he just wanted to allow himself to feel sad and lonely. thoughts???

8. SHE

i don’t know what i was expecting, but it surprised me from the begining. and it confused me so much. so much. i read some people saying ‘she’ could be a part of harry, but i still can’t wrap my head around it, i don’t understand this songggg what is going onnnn but then i saw him saying mitch came up with the melody while on mushrooms, so maybe that’s why it is so unclear and intriguing and interesting !! a woman who’s just in his head and she sleeps in his bed??? what

also.. the chorus reminds me so much of zayn... why can’t they get their shit together.... imagine the harmonies....

but yeah please tell me what you think of this one. all the theories. help me.

9. SUNFLOWER, VOL. 6

ohhhhhhhh. i was really excited about this one because i love love sunflowers and all the flowers and i love metaphors with flowers. AND IT DELIVERED. one of my favorites for sure. this side seems a little happier, right? more about being a fool for women and loving it we STAN. the gasping does something to me.. feels like a weed song if you ask me asjhdsjfsj in love with every detail

10. CANYON MOON

60s 70s 80s i get all of it!!!! timeless love song!!! it makes want to be in love so that’s a bit sad dsfjhgshjdfs and old lover’s hippie music ahhhhh idk it feels like a simpler song? i don’t know what else to read into but cute cute

11. TREAT PEOPLE WITH KINDNESS

i think i hate it... but to be fair i was already judging it by the title. if i ignore the chorus it is not so bad. but then again it has potential but it’s just... not my thing. i’m sure it will grow on me, the vocals and the structure of the song is really good but i’m not about that dkjgdfkghdkj ‘just a little bit of kindness’ .........

12. FINE LINE

don’t think i understand this one either, but it feels like there’s so much going on, maybe i won’t ever be able to pinpoint what he means hmm ‘there’s things that we’ll never know’.... such a deep song, it really is a roller coaster. when he is repeating the same lines and the tempo changes ??? amazing. and then he says the best thing to ever hear ‘we’ll be alright’ and it destroyed me in the best way possible. it is the last line of the album and i think that says a lot. i know i will cry a lot to this song fjhkhgdfk

that was a lot. felt too many things. i need a bit of time. my heart hurts and i love this man.

Everyday, as you’re getting ready to leave for work or hit the town with your friends or look for that perfect new job, you take stock of the general vibe of the day so you know how to approach it. You stick your head out the window to check the weather, notice how quick the second hand on your clock is moving, and try to read the dispositions of those you meet on the street. Every day has it’s own energy and when you walk out the door in the morning (or the afternoon, no judgements!) as a good little witch, it’s best to have your magickal arsenal backing you up!

Monday’s Witch is tranquil and white Tuesday’s Witch wields fire and might Wednesday’s Witch is wacky but wise Thursday’s Witch keeps their eye on the prize Friday’s Witch mixes coconut and lime Saturday’s Witch can bend space and time but the Witch who works on Sunna’s day will always bring bright blessings their way

The word “correspondences” doesn’t sound hella interesting or witchy, so don’t think of this as a post about magickal daily correspondences, think of this as your witchy weather report for the days of the week! Much like a daily horoscope (like the ones from Broadly, which I LOVE and check religiously), these daily bits of astrological magick will tell you the kind of spells to focus on, colours to wear and use, witchy tools to wield, or just in general how to be the best witch you can be that day. When you combine this daily witchery with things like moon phases, current astrolgoical phases, and the season you’re in with your own witchy intuition you have a fully fledged magical almanac.

One of my favourite things about daily magick is that it helps break up ruts and monotonous magical slumps. It gets you thinking magickally every day and gives you small things to focus on. Over time this builds into a great daily practice. You don’t have to be an expert, you don’t have to write your own horoscope or even be fully versed in astrology. I’m not! Every day and once a month I read a hororscope from Broadly, I get weekly and monthly astrology reports from Georgia Nicols in my inbox, and I love the Hoodwitch’s weekly witch tips. When we move into astrological seasons I trust other astrologers to give me the highlights, and the same with the astrological signs of the moon. I use that info from those brilliant people, with my own witchy knowledge of daily magick to give myself daily witchy forecasts so I have a head start on the day. I use a magickal day planner to keep it all in and make it look pretty and colourful so I can start the day off right. (OK SO YEAH I’M AN OFFICE SUPPLY NERD, OK??) This week I’ll be posting about the energy of the day every morning so you can start your day off right and maybe do a little magick.

Saturday

Saturday was named after the roman god Saturn, who was a god agriculture, limitations and the passage of time. Saturday is a day to wrap up loose ends, to take it easy, to magical clean and cleanse your space and to look inward.

In addition to our infinitely patient god of earth and space, Saturday is Hekate’s day. Hekate was the all-powerful goddess of magick and witches. She is the patron deity of witches everywhere and is associated with the stages of life, the magick of all of the elements and even darker elements such as death and crossroads. Hekate is a goddess is gets stuff done, and Saturdays reflect this as a day to clear up everything that needs clearing up and even physical cleaning and getting your home in order.

Many of the plants and incenses associated Saturday are almost cliché witch herbs. Morning Glory, which is hallucinogenic and all consuming, Mugwort which aids in divination and magick (and just SOUNDS witchy!), Mullein which is used to talk with the dead and pomegranate, the food of the underworld. Myrrh is sweet and brings in a witch’s connection to the moon; patchouli creates a deep connection to the earth, and rosemary and hearty and stable.

The stones to use on Saturdays all seem to have very spacey and also somehow earthy energies. Black stones repel negativity, offer protection, are used in scrying and divination, are earthy and stabilizing, and are very cleansing. Jet, as an amber, is also a status symbol for witches and is worn by many high priestesses to denote rank. Lapis lazuli, galaxyite, and amethyst all work with your third eye and connect you to higher realms.

Tarot: The Hermit shows an image of Saturn himself, father time. If it shows up in a Saturday reading, it’s time to look inward, slow down, and accesses your growth or progress. You can also use this as a representation or link to the god. The two of swords frightens people, but it’s about balance and about creating a choice. It signifies that now is the time to make a choice, any choice. Even the wrong choice pushes you forward. It’s a good card for those pushing themselves to get things done on Saturday. The Knight of Swords is a card of no fear! This is a card to give you strength when dealing with some of the darker magic that is done on Saturdays. You’ve made a choice and now is the time to dive in!

Dress for magickal success: Saturday is the day to break out all of the gothic items from the 80s you know you’re holding on to. Classically witchy looks like all black, dark purples, stars and galaxy prints and powerful feeling clothing items are for Saturdays. If you’re staying home and tending the garden of your life, earthy comfortable fabrics like cotton in subdued colours let people know you don’t need anything flashy to be powerful.

It’s no mystery where Sunday got its name, and indeed it’s a day of bright, warm, illuminating and endlessly happy energy. Today’s a day to focus on everything you’ve accomplished in your life and spend it basking in the warmth of that feeling.

Sunna was the Norse goddess of the sun and drove the solar chariot across the sky that brought us the daylight. In ancient Rome and Greece, this exact action was accomplished by Helios and Apollo, respectively. Indeed, many people equate sun energy with more “masculine” energy. The Celtic’s revered the goddess Brighid as the keeper of fire – internal fire of emotion, the healing and cleansing fire, and fire of the hearth and home. (Sorry, gods!) All of these deities are described in similar ways, brightly shining, golden, infinitely happy and compassionate about their people. This is why Sunday is such a great day to spend with families.

Smells and plants associated with Sunday are warm and spicy like cinnamon, but combined with a more clearing scent like orange and frankincense. Cedar and Rosemary bring the outside in, and call in the smells and feelings of warm weather and plants that thrive in the sun. In its mundane life, St John’s Wort is used as an anti-depressant and calms anxiety, which makes it a great herb to accompany Sunday’s cheerful energy.

Though your fiery, red Mars stones and crystals from tuesday will help you get some things done today, consider some more gentle yellows instead. Reach for citrine and amber to bring sunshine, joy, and relaxation on a nice warm sunday. If you’re spending the day with your love, put a piece of sunstone in your bra or near your heart to add sexy and funny sun energy to your date.

The Ace of Wands is the beginning of a fiery new journey. Everything is ahead of you now! Sunday is a time to start fresh, with new passion and creativity. The Chariot card could be travel or transportation – taking a Sunday drive with someone you love, maybe – but this is another card about balance and compromise. We all wish we could be the Sunday versions of ourselves forever, but eventually Monday will come and we’ll pull back into the calm, cool night. Don’t feel like you’re being pulled in two directions, recognize this time for what it is and make the most of it, and be ready to work with the energy of the other days of the week.

Dress for magickal success: Sunday’s energy is happy, but calm. Wear bright colours and simple patterns, or include suns, stars, and sparkles for a more brilliant sunny shine. Don’t bog yourself down with too much jewellery and wear comfortable shoes – this is a day to get out and celebrate your life. Wear something that makes you feel warm and comfortable inside and out, but that lets you move around and change direction spontaneously.
