Watching the new Spider-Man movie trailer with the reveal of Alfred Molina reprising his roll as Doc Ock made me flash right back to my childhood. I was so in love with Spider-Man 2 and watched it every chance I got because Doc Ock was just SO DAMN COOL TO ME. I’m not even a Marvel fan (I was raised on DC Comics) but I’ve never felt more excited and enthused seeing Alfred again. So I'd just remembered something from my childhood involving the first Inuyasha movie, it was a scene where Kagome is holding Inuyasha in her arms with her hand cradling his head in a protective manner. And I've come to realize that the reason she does this is because she subconsciously links the hand on the head thing with safety.

And the reason why she associates it with safety?

It's because Inuyasha does it to her.

Whenever she's saved from danger or being protected from something Inuyasha is almost guaranteed to cradle her head in a protective manner. It's a sign of safety, a sign that she no longer has to be afraid because Inuyasha is there.

So Kagome doing this very thing for him in the movie and remembering these little things makes the scene that much more heartwarming and much more romantic. Because it's their thing to try and reassure the other that they're safe and sound and fuck if it doesn't make me incredibly soft.
