Eddie was worried.
Steve was supposed to be home two hours ago, sure he'd been late before when he was on the closing shift but never this late and he always called. Eddie couldn't wait any longer, he grabbed his keys and practically ran down the stairwell to his van.
Eddie pulled up to the bookstore Steve had started working at since Robin had left for college. The lights were still on, Eddie didn't know if that was a good thing or not. He walked by Steve's car and through the unlocked front door.
"Steve? Sweetheart you here?"
Eddie got no reply, he was about to have a full blown panic attack when he saw him. Tucked behind the register, head in a textbook was Steve, asleep and alive. Eddie hoped one day a missing phone call wouldn't make him jump to something horrible but today wasn't that day.
"Here there, baby, it's time to go home," Eddie said gently shaking Steve's shoulder.
"E-Eddie? What are you doing here, what time is it?" Steve groggily replied.
"It's almost 9, Stevie, c'mon let's get you home." Eddie gathered up Steve's books into his backpack picking it up and helping a sleepy Steve to his van.
Steve fell back asleep on the drive home and Eddie didn't have the heart to wake him once they got home. It was a struggle but eventually Eddie managed to carry Steve back up to the apartment, he was glad they only lived on the second floor.
He placed Steve on the couch and went to reheat Steve's dinner. He hears shuffling behind him before feeling Steve wrap his arms around his back and snuggle into him.
"Have I told you lately that I love you?"
"Everyday sweetheart, I love you too, let's get some food in ya and then we can shower and go to bed alright?"
Steve nodded taking the plate and leaning on Eddie again once they got back to the couch.
"You're running yourself into the ground, baby, it's worrying me a bit, what if you fall asleep driving?"
"It's just a little longer, Eds, I've got these last two finals and then I'll have my diploma and be able to work at the school."
Steve had been working hard to be qualified to be a school guidance counsellor while also working to pay rent, bills and for school since his parents had cut him off because of his "unsavoury" company, Eddie still felt bad.
"I know, angel, and I'm so proud of you, just wish you weren't so tired so much."
"At least I sleep well with you, Eds."
"Being cute ain't gonna make me any less worried, Stevie."
"I know but it'll all be worth it soon."
"You're gonna be a great counsellor, sweetheart, now c'mon I know for a fact you have no class or work tomorrow, I'm making sure you sleep in and get breakfast in bed in the morning."
"The threat of your burnt toast is enough to keep me asleep."
"It adds flavour, baby."
"Whatever you say, Eds. Thank you for looking after me."
"Always, Stevie."
The next day Steve slept in last noon and enjoyed burnt toast with runny eggs with the biggest smile on his face because he knew Eddie would always look after him when he couldn't.

Stolas x fem!Stella’s sister || fluff & angst
Tumblr media
Requested by a wattpad supporter!
╚═ * +:。.。. · : · . ✧ ★ ✧ . · : · . 。.。:+ * ═╝
Talons clicking against the short stairs, your black-tipped tail feathers dusted the steps. Your hand lightly held onto the golden handrail as the warm colors beamed from beyond the stained glass doors. The ivory and leaves rustled quietly as the wind blew gently.
Stella had called you about a month or two ago inviting you over for a weekend. She talked of a grand party, extravagant dinner, spectacular treatment, and good ol' sisterly quality time. "I wanted you to see the parties I host with your own eyes! Stolas actually agreed to this one, so you just know the turnout will be great! I'm so sorry for not inviting you sooner, it's such a hassle to get him to agree to anything I want. Oh, Y/N, I promise you won't regret it!" You wouldn't regret it, but you weren't exactly the most excited to see someone.
Faint yelling can be heard from the inside, it sounded to be coming from a very unhappy woman. The irritated yelling became louder as a dark silhouette appeared in the glass. The doors flew open. "Oh my dear sister, I've been awaiting your arrival!" A pair of arms wearing black gloves wrapped around you in a warm embrace, the tips of sharp claws putting faint pressure on your shoulders. "Hello Stella! It's a pleasure as always!" You hug her back, happy to see your sister once again.
She smiled, a genuine one, something rare from her. After she married Stolas of the Goetia family, Stella had grown more and more bitter over the years. She was always a bit snappy, but it only increased as the years went by in her loveless marriage to Stolas. Prince Stolas. That owl-like demon prince with red eyes that you knew him all too well.
You knew those glowing crimson eyes from your childhood, the memories you cherished with someone you could confide in; someone you knew, an old friend, or maybe even the one that got away. The one you were meant to marry before your parents pulled the rug from under you and sent you spinning. It's all on the past now, you told yourself despite the wound still being sore all these years later. No matter how much you convinced yourself the wound healed, you knew seeing him now would rip it open once again.
Your sister released you and ushered you inside, closing the door behind you. "It's been too long! I have a whole itinerary planned for us, I want to spend as much time together as possible- I've even got Stolas to sleep on the couch so we could lay together! Ahh, just like when we were chicks." You smiled and feigned a laugh, pretending it was humorous she demoted her husband to the couch like a dog when it really just saddened you to see him treated so poorly. She put a hand on your shoulder, looking at you from under her long eyelashes, " I'm really glad you're here, sis. I've missed you." You smiled and grabbed her forearm gently, "I've missed you too."
Despite her anger and violent outbursts, Stella was always kind to you. She always stuck up for you when your brother picked on you, when mom was too hard on you, and she always let you play with her dolls. Maybe it was because you were twins, but Stella never let you get stepped on.
"Mum, is Aunt Y/N here yet?" A monotone voice echoed from above the stairs. "Octavia dearest!" You exclaim, arms out and ready to hug your niece. The stoic expression on her face changed to a child-like smile as she hurried down the staircase to hug you. "My, is this a new hat? I think you'd look amazing in a pink one!" She tucked a strand of hair back, "oh yeah, my dad said it suited me... do you like it?" "Like it? I love it!" You loved seeing Octavia. You wanted to shower her with love every time you saw her. You knew she came from a broken family and you wanted her to feel loved, to feel wanted, and even if she already felt that way, you wanted her to know she was loved.
You let go and smiled, "I'll let you get back to your music now. I know how much you like those bands." She smiled and brushed her hair back again, "Okay Auntie, I'll see you later!" You waved as she went back, Stella coming close to you once again. "She's 17 now, in her edgy-emo phase." She commented. "I remember when you had that same phase." You laughed in embarrassment. "Oh please, remember when I dyed a streak in my feathers? Mum was furious!" You two laughed at the memories. Despite having a rough childhood, you did have the good memories. Good memories...
Stella took a sip from her wine glass once again. Stumbling over her words, laughing with you and slinging her arm over you. "...and I told him, I said "You wouldn't know cyanide from absinthe if it weren't for me!" She cackles with her loud laughter. You laughed as well, but it was insincere. Stolas was a common butt of the joke with your sister, and as awful as you felt to laugh with her about him, you enjoyed seeing her happy. The hours flew by since you arrived. The laughing and storytelling took your attention more than the clock ever could. You almost forget about her husband if it weren't for her jokes and stories about him. "You know, he's been seeing someone behind my back..." your blood went cold. "Oh?" you ask, not knowing if you wanted to hear more or less. "Yeah, cheating prick." Definitely less. "With an IMP no less! Can you believe that?" No. You honestly couldn't. No wonder she hates him, he cheated on her. "I could care less about an affair, it's not like we loved each other anyway, but an imp? If word got out, it would ruin our entire image!" "I can't even imagine how you feel, Stella..." you place a hand on her shoulder, but feel anger knowing she doesn't care about him, only her status. "It's a problem, but he wouldn't dare to divorce me. He knows better." You nod, listening to her rant about him and his affair. It was never this apparent how loveless this marriage truly was.
You were only interrupted by a door shutting a voice that followed. "Stella, where in Hell have you put my-" your eyes meet. Two small, white pupils appear in his eyes, something that happens when he's surprised. You stare at each other for a moment before he continues. "Never mind, I'll find it myself. Pleasure to see you as always, Y/N." He finished and leaves the room. Stella laughs and makes a comment, but you're too distracted to even listen to her.
You sit on the couch, watching the tv quietly. You put Stella to sleep since she got a little too wine-drunk. The lights are off. Stolas is asleep in the guest room with your things. You sigh too yourself and watch the soap opera, reading it's subtitles. "Gabriella, I've told you, it's too late!" The tv reads. "But Alejandro, I love you!" "As do I Gabriella, but I must go." The female's love interest leaves as she sobs, and the episode fades to black before the next one starts. "I really hope they get together." You jump and twist your head around to see Stolas with a robe on, leaning on the couch. "How long have you been here?!" You exclaim. "Long enough to know Alejandro doesn't want to leave. Mind if I have a seat?" You nod as he steps over and sits down.
It's quiet. It's awkward. The tv illuminates the two of you as the two characters quarrel over their love life. It's tense. "So... how have you been?" He struggles to start a conversation. "Oh, here and there." You reply dryly. You want to talk more, you want to engage in a conversation like you used to, but he's married to your sister. He's a cheater. "I heard you like imps." You state in an attempt to distance yourself from him, to push him away. It seemed to work as he tenses, leaning back slightly. "Oh... She told you." "Yeah." You watch the show, not paying any attention. Not looking at him, but you know his expression. It's pained, tired, upset. He's tired, upset, pained. "It's complicated. Maybe it was childhood love that drew me to him, but it's so... difficult." He sighs out. Your eyebrows furrow. You two were childhood friends, why didn't he go to you? You were jealous, upset, you wanted to cry, but you wouldn't let yourself. "Gotta be strong," you told yourself. "I'm sorry to hear."
It's quiet once again. You're upset, he's upset, but both for different reasons. The tv makes it bearable. You don't look at him, not until there's a faint sniffle. "Are you crying?" You ask, voice sounding more judgmental than you wanted. "I know, I know, it's ridiculous. But, but I feel so-" "lonely." You finish it for him. He looks at you, "...yes." He replies faintly. "I'm so lonely here. I have a wife and daughter but I'm not happy. He doesn't love me, he's too busy with his business and work family, I don't think anyone loves me." You know he's choking back a sob. You aren't afraid to look at him now, his crimson eyes wet with tears. "I know it's useless to cry, but sometimes it helps." You take his hand, squeezing slightly. "It's not stupid to cry, Stolas." His eyes, his face, he looks so pathetic. You look into each other's eyes before pulling him into a hug. He stiffens, then loosens up and let's out a quiet sob on your shoulder. He shakes as he cries, and you wonder how long he's been holding this back. How long he's needed someone to listen to him, how many years. You stroke his back, comforting him in whatever way you can.
Time passed, and his sobs lighten. He says the occasional "I'm sorry" to which you always reply "it's alright. Let it out." He doesn't let go. He sniffles and deeply inhales periodically, usually a quieter sob follows. "Why are you being so nice to me?" He chokes out. Why are you being so nice? "I..." you can't think of a lie, only the truth, and you can't stop your mouth before it speaks on its own. "I care about you. I don't want you to be in pain and I want to take it all away." He pulls himself off your shoulder and looks at you, a faint smile on his damp face. "Do you remember when I read you stories as our fathers talked?" You weakly smile back. "Of course I do." You lean back, "We played and talked, and I told you I was scared of being a princess, and you said-" "I'll be your prince and protect you as your knight." Your eyes widen in pleasant surprise. "You remember..." he smiles back, "how could I not?" You look at him, tears pricking the corners of your eyes. He teaches towards you and pulls you gently into his chest. "Oh, it's alright Y/N, it's a happy memory!" He's trying to hard to cheer you up, you can tell. You can practically hear him smiling as he speaks. "No it isn't!" you exclaim into his chest, confusing him. "It's not nice when I still love you and you don't love me!" The tears trail down your face and cheeks, slowly wetting his chest. "Now who said that?" He asks. "You did! Because you love that Imp! He's strong, and he's accomplished, and I couldn't even marry you!" He strokes your head. "Y/N, that was a very complicated situation. You didn't fail even if you think you did, I promise," He pauses, "and I still love you too, I just didn't want to upset you or Stella!"
Your mind comes to a halt. "He loves me..?" You think. You look up at him with wide eyes, his expression is soft and comforting. His hand strokes your cheek, wiping your tears away. "I love you, Y/N." "I love you too, Stolas." The two of you smile at each other. His forehead rests on yours, the two of you laughing faintly with each other. "I'll be your knight, my love, and we're going to be happy together with our own life, I promise." He holds up a pinkie, like a child about to make the most serious kind of promise ever. You link your pinkies and shake, "it's a promise," you say. "A pinkie promise." He jokes. The two of you giggle together.
He hugs you once more, a soft, comforting hug. You know you're safe in his arms, it won't be last time you feel safe with him, and it certainly won't be the last hug.

HIII I was the one who requested the Lute fic and I absolutely loved it!!! I was wondering if I could request again, this time could it be a Carmilla x Reader, where she ( and her daughters ) gets redeemed and when they get to heaven they find reader who is Carmilla’s spouse ( GN! Or Male reader please ) and they realize that reader doesn’t recognize them because those who go to heaven don’t remember those who went to hell, just a lot of angst hehe
( again if you aren’t comfy doing this it’s alr ^^ !! Thank you !! )
I've never written her before I hope I did her good?♡
Also! I do only write GN! or female reader(can't write male readers I'm sorry♡)
Also what's her daughters names? I looked ut up and I'm getting like a mix of answers so their names aren't stated csuse of it
But♡ hope you dont mind how angsty I made it with? A twist♡♡
Carmilla x reader: Heaven *cruel* rule.
Carmilla didn't see herself as a angel. She's a demon for fucks sake yet- the ones more deserving to be redeemed were her daughters. But they only entertained it if she would.
So like any good mother? She joined them. Not wanting her daughters to be left behind. Wanting to ensure their safety. She trusted Charlie enough but her trust doesn't include.. the odd bunch she allowed to be helpers to the sinners on the path to be "winners"
She truly thought the dream was just that. A dream. Nothing more then just a childish wish Charlie had but here she was in heaven. Her girls in the rightful place- smiling she glanced down at her gold ring.
Maybe she'll see you- her love once again? In the only rightful place you should be in.
Heaven
She smiled at the thought.
Carmilla fidgeted something felt.. off today as she walked around heaven. Her daughters are not long behind her, holding her dress in nerves. Humming seemed they also felt the same. "My daughters~ don't worry were safe now, ok?" Her new bright wings fidgeting still uncomfortable at the new feeling looking up she froze - seeing the angel - her love - the spouse she had in the living world before she was stripped away from them in death. A bright smile came onto her face seeing you- healthy- happy.
-
Turns out Heaven? Does have rules
Alot
Humming going through a book of rules Carmilla was so close to just giving *up* trying to find another angel was JUST as difficult with all the rules added to it. How there's a wait list but.
No one under Carmine other then her and her daughters were anywhere was there stated of another person. Frowning closing the book. Sighing, she stood up, stopping to smile at one of her daughter
"Did.. you find them, mother?" Smiling sadly, she walked to her, holding her hands out, pulling her into her arms. Her wings automatically curling around her daughter as a cocoon as if? To protect her
"Not yet, my daughter.. but I will"
-
"Mama- is that-" her eldest asked, whispering out watching her parent. The one she and her sister sobbed for years seeing them not with in the afterlife. But seeing you in heaven? She couldn't help but be glad you were in such a safe place.
As if sensing someone looking, you turned seeing the three newcomers moving to walk up to them to the strangers
"There you are my lo-"
"hi~ I'm glad you made it in heaven~ what's your names? I'm sure there's helper angels for new angels~" you cut off Carmilla accidentally pulling out a almost scroll looking thing "sorry I'm well aware in hell some technology is more advanced and all but~ in heaven some things like this? The council loves the old feel~" humming
Blinking, she tilted her head now. Confused? Why weren't you throwing yourself in her arms? Not calling her your love? Your wife? Bile reached the back of her throat and now an unnerving feeling. That something? Is very, very wrong here
"Do you not know me?"
That made you stop looking up at her, slowly tilting your head in thought, "..no I'm sorry, I don't believe we ever met~" before she or her daughters could ask more a voice called out- making a huge smile appear on your face the same one you used to give her- her blood ran cold.
A beautiful woman stepped out of a house holding what looked like a child. Blinking, she watched as she walked to you, kissing you gently happily humming. She finally realized. The lack of a ring on your finger- well you did have a gold band. But not your band. Not the one you wore during your marriage. Not the one that matches hers.
"I'm sorry, my friends~ My wife needs me for a moment~" Do you need any more help?" After handing her the letter with the angels name to help her and her daughters - gently wrapping her arms around them, pulling them close, sensing how upset they were rightfully so.
"..m-may I ask what the little ones' name is?" Voice breaking, making you smile, grinning looking over at her "her names Carmilla~ I don't know why, but.. the name felt very important~" Purring out kissing the child's head gently making her close her eyes nodding
Turning she guided her daughters away from her lover- her now ex lover. Not stopping until they all reached their new home. Pulling them close sobbing along with them "did they abandon us?" In her tearfully state she didn't know who asked bur she was quick to shut that idea down kissing her daughters heads
"No, no- they'd never - not in a million centuries... heaven.. heaven makes angels forget demons. It's a cruel thing.. that I forgot about - im- I'm so sorry. " Holding them closer, sobbing loudly with them until they passed out from exhaustion looking out the window tearfully sorrowful. Like the day she lost you- she lost you permanently.
She couldn't WOULDN'T tell you. It'd be wrong. Even though she wishes to kiss you. Have you in her arms once more. She wouldn't do that to you. Or your wife. Especially with your child. Its none of your faults for the law of heaven and hell. But - she couldn't help but think. If she wasn't such a horrid woman in the living. Didn't get her daughters involved? Would she have gone to Heaven with you?
Would that child be hers?
It was a cruel, sick thought she quickly took away. Looking down disgusted with herself. She sighed
"I hope your.. happy my love" she whsipering rubbing the band on her finger. She needed time. Then she'll finally take it off. Closing her eyes she sighed.
Love is.. painful.

Camping Trip
Tumblr media
It was the following Summer after…That happened…The catalyst that screwed up the entire town and everyone part of it. The Woodsboro Murders. You were out of town that weekend because your parents made you go with them; absolutely forbidding you from attending Stu's party while a killer was on the loose…You were glad but also a small part of you felt guilty. Like maybe if you were there; you could have saved your friends.
Randy said he was shot in the chest by someone but he said his memory was a blur. He thought it was Billy, almost swore it was but all evidence said it wasn't and he ended up saying he wasn't sure after evidence said Billy was innocent…All Randy knows is that Billy and Stu claimed Neil was behind it all but he saw Billy with a knife coming towards him right when EMTs and police rushed in. Billy swore he was just heavily wounded, holding the knife for his own safety and just checking on Randy to see if he was alive. Dropping it and wobbling on his feet; begging police to save his girlfriend Sidney. Randy said he remembered Billy wailing when police told him Sidney was dead…Almost too dramatically. Whatever he meant by that? And Dewey didn't remember anything after Neil in a costume stabbed him in the back…Just that Gale Weathers was shot in the head on the porch next to him and they must have assumed Dewey was dead.
But Neil Prescott, Sidney Prescott, Tatum Riley, Gale Weathers and Kenny the Cameraman were tragically murdered that night. You weren't there and two of the survivors had foggy memories and the other two, Billy and Stu, swore it was Neil getting revenge over his wife's death. Killing his own daughter as a murder suicide before trying to kill her boyfriend for his Dad sleeping with Maureen Prescott and all of Sidney's friends in some insane rampage.
You have to admit, it was so odd and made no sense but who were you to argue with two friends that lost both their girlfriends and were nearly stabbed to death? You weren't there but the imprint it left on everyone in Woodsboro was beyond present.
It was early August. You all graduated a few months ago and now everyone was off to college. Randy was going to study film at Windsor College in Ohio. Billy and Stu were going to the East Coast…And you…Had no idea where you were going; if you were even going at all. All you knew was your already slashed friend group was falling apart and you couldn't stomach it.
"Hey…YN?"
You blinked, looking over to see Randy in the passenger seat while Stu sneaked some liquor from his parents house and you sat in the backseat.
"You still here? You look like you're a million miles away."
You gave a slight smile. "Yeah, I'm fine."
"...You sure?" He tentatively asked.
You forced a smile and nodded. "Yeah, I'm cool. Really…Just-" You stretched with a groan. "Ready to go have fun in the woods I guess."
Randy smirked slightly. "Yeah because we just survived Halloween last year; let's go try to survive Friday the 13th next."
You sighed and leaned your head back on the seat. "Yeah…I still can't believe it happened. It's a shame Billy couldn't come with us."
"Not really…" Randy muttered.
You sat up in your seat, looking over at him. "Uh…Why?"
Randy looked towards Stu's front door to make sure you both were alone before looking at you and whispering. "I just…I know what Stu and Billy said but I swear, YN…Billy shot me and was coming over with the knife to finish the job." You went to chuckle, unsure what to say but Randy hissed out. "I'm serious!" Your smile dropped as he continued. "I mean, yes things are blurry for me after being shot and Dewey remembers fuck all nothing but…Something just isn't right! I know Billy is guilty."
You leaned over, risking touching Randy's hand and his gaze softened. Tatum swore you both would end up together telling you 'You could do so much better than a film geek who's foreplay is listing off the top nude scenes in cinema history.'...You disagreed but you were too chicken to just come right out and ask him especially after you knew how much he liked Sidney and now she was gone. The second he told you he got accepted into Windsor this early Summer; you backed off the idea completely.
"Then why not come out-"
Randy hissed out. "Yeah, and have Billy murder me next? I just come up mysterious offing myself off a bridge with a stab wound in my chest police are gonna ignore and say was self inflicted? I don't think so!"
"Randy, I know how you felt about Sidney but…It's been a year. We have to just accept that Neil did it and move on."
Randy gave you an exasperated sigh. "I know it seems like I'm not coping but you don't find it odd that both Stu and Billy were stabbed multiple times in the side? I mean, what type of plot armor is that? And why would Neil kill himself and his daughter at a party with other innocent teens if his motive really was him going crazy with grief?"
You opened your mouth then closed it…Not really sure of the answer yourself.
"I suspected Stu because he was such a lapdog to Billy. Still is…But I can't shake the feeling Billy Loomis is lying and Stu is covering for him. I mean, the dramatic way he was sobbing and screaming-"
"He just lost his girlfriend, Randy."
"Yeah but this was excessive it just…What motive sounds better? Teen boy riddled with angst, angry at his girlfriend not sleeping with him but her Mom slept with his Dad and probably was why his Mom split a few years ago and he's damaged from it beyond repair… Or an old man still upset at his wife's murder that could have just killed him and his daughter anytime at home suddenly going missing and just so happens to reappear to kill a bunch of teens for no reason at a party?"
You frowned. "...Billy's a good guy under it all, Randy. Why would he kill his friends and girlfriend?"
Randy shrugged. "How do we know Stu wasn't in on it?"
You scrunched your face. "What?"
"YN, Casey was Stu's ex and Tatum was Stu's girlfriend and it was at Stu's house and any kills related to Billy would make sense since they're best friends-"
"Randy." You sighed out, patting his hand. "Neil had evidence on the phone records…I don't understand it either but we gotta just accept it and move on."
Randy huffed but glanced at you patting his hand, his glare softening. "Yeah well, if you ask me I think it's a criminal getting away with murder."
"What is?" Stu chimed in, opening the door quickly.
Randy faltered before muttering. "Uh…O.J. Simpson case 2 years ago."
Stu chuckled. "Yeah that was crazy, had me hooked! Came home and watched it every single day." He glanced at your hand on Randy's and smirked. "Whatchya kids doing?…Getting cozy?"
You and Randy jerked your hands away as Randy faintly blushed, turning in his seat and mumbled. "Stu, did you get everything?"
"Yep. Got some fireball and mad dog."
Randy raised a brow. " I expected some fancy chardonnay or scotch."
Stu grinned. "Nah, these are my sister Leslie's…She's knocked up, what she don't know won't hurt her." He started the car.
"Yeah till all her liquor is missing after the baby arrives." You mused.
Stu backed up and smiled. "Nah man, she loves me. I'm the best lil bro ever."
You scoff with a smirk. "I highly fucking doubt that."
"Tskk. Girl, you're lucky it's our going away bash." Stu tsked out with a mock glare before he snickered. You frowned a little as you all drove.
It was near dark when you all finally settled in.
A small set of woods next to a creek with a small bonfire Stu started. He just had to carry a large log and groan loudly while dropping it, flexing his biceps on purpose while grinning at you…It wasn't that you weren't attracted to Stu you just knew how he was. He was hard to say no to but you also knew how much he tried cheating on Tatum. He's a damn dog and you didn't take him too seriously with his flirting.
Randy gave him an annoyed look. "Hey Arnold, how about you get small pieces that actually burn?"
Stu rolled his eyes but took the mad dog bottle with him. "Whatever. I guess the man's gotta do all the work while you girls sit at the fire…Be right back…Don't do any fooling around without me-" Stu winked before walking in the dark.
You and Randy both rolled your eyes as you bashfully chuckled. "G-God he's dumb sometimes."
Randy took a swig of the fireball and chuckled nervously. "No totally is…Like, a moron…"
You both sat at the small fire in silence as you hugged your legs. Randy noticed you shiver. "You cold? Here…Don't say I'm not chivalrous." He put his jacket over you as you smiled softly at him and thanked him.
You both sat in silence a moment longer, listening to the fire crackle before you told him. "So…Windsor."
"Yeah, it's far but it's got the best curriculum and all that…It's really far....Away from Woodsboro bullshit...Gonna be weird being so far away."
You frowned and stared at the fire before mumbling. "I'll miss you, ya know…"
Randy looked taken aback, quietly asking you. "...You will?"
You chug the fireball with a grunt and cough a bit before handing it back to him. "Of course I will. No more movie nights, no more cruising late at night, no more spending time together goofing off…I'm gonna miss your annoying ass, Randy."
"Yeah, you're way more annoying than me." Randy blushed a bit and smiled down at his feet. "Well…God, YN. I'm gonna miss you too, ya know. I just was scared it'd be too embarrassing to say it first…I really…Ya know…I like-"
You looked at him and smiled. "Do you like me?"
"Of course I like you, YN."
"I mean…REALLY like me?"
Randy got flustered, looking down and stumbling over his words. "I mean y-yeah but y-you know…It's not…I do really like you you're pretty and…Not that t-that's the only thing but-"
You felt the fireball whiskey you've all been sharing taking effect. Honestly, your throat burned from it and you weren't as cold. And…You might never see Randy again. You liked him even if he wasn't as conventional attractive as Billy or as smooth as Stu; you liked him. Maybe you were just being a hopeless romantic horny teen or or maybe you were just panicking over him leaving or maybe it was genuine but all you knew was that…If you didn't act now, it would never happen. Even if Randy went to the opposite end of the country and met a bunch of college girls and forgot about you…It was still something your tipsy mind felt inclined to do.
I smiled at him while he rambled. "Randy?"
He hummed in his throat with that bashful look on his face you were starting to enjoy.
"...Stop talking and kiss me." You softly told him with a smile.
"O-Oh?....Oohh." He smiled a goofy grin with a red face, his fair skin no match for the way you were flustering him. Honestly, your cheeks felt warm too and you weren't sure if that's the alcohol or your nerves talking.
You both slowly leaned forward and kissed. It was feather light and chaste before you both smiled and did it again a bit longer this time and before you knew it…He scooted closer to you and ran his hands up and down your shoulder through his jacket while your lips moved together. You hummed into the kiss as you just…God, what were you doing? You gently pulled him down by his shirt collar as he moaned softly against your mouth. Before your lips moved together a few minutes and…You soon groaned lightly as you felt his tongue tentatively run across your lips before you met his tongue as well…Both of you making out in the woods next to a bonfire…It wasn't unheard of or anything. You both were 19 and you both clearly had feelings for each other or at least attraction …You felt like you should stop and think but you couldn't. Your body was warm and tingly, Randy was moaning and moving his lips so slow and tentative across your mouth, his tongue was shyly exploring you…You can tell he didn't kiss like this often but you didn't care either. If anything? It made you want to keep going. To let this be a fun first of many things before he left.
You experimentally rubbed your tongue in firm circles against his and he groaned softly. His tongue is getting more erratic. Not rough but less controlled as his hands started trailing up your leg. You bit his lip slightly and he sounded out your name. Just hearing that made you heat up…God, it's like you couldn't control yourself! You weren't drunk but the tiny bit of liquid courage and hormonal lust and the romanticism of being in the woods next to a crackling fire and knowing he was leaving for god knows how long. You gripped his hair and kissed him more passionately with a louder moan against his mouth. Both of you made out as he ran his hand up to your thigh and you just…Instinctively opened your thighs. God you just had to wear something that showed this much skin. His hand eagerly yet nervously up and down your thigh gripping and rubbing while trailing to your hips as you massaged your tongue with his.
Then he did something that made you whine in your throat. Roughly massaging your hips and biting your lip. He quickly stopped pulling away with concern. "Shit…Oh shit, did I hurt you? I'm sorry-" He breathlessly huffed out.
You furiously shook your head and dragged him back to your mouth. "No, do it again-" Both of your tongues meeting once more as your thigh hitches around his hip to pull him closer. This was getting out of control. This was so sudden and crazy and you were almost scared what this would do to your friendship but then you remembered all 3 of them Billy, Stu and Randy leave in a week or less and those cares go out the window. Hell, you might leave Woodsboro and they might never come back and you might never seen them again.
You trusted Randy, you felt safe with Randy, you felt…Damn turned on with how his thumb was subconsciously caressing your pelvic bone.
"Randy." You pant out as he just kept kissing you rougher than before. Like you turned him on as much as he turned you on. Like he was glued at the hip to you and couldn't possibly escape. You lightly pushed him up to talk. His eyes searched to make sure you were enjoying this as he sweetly stopped the second you asked…Oh…Oh you knew. He was it. If it was happening, it was happening right fucking now and you just had to act on it before you chickened out. "Randy…I want to."
Randy raised a brow blinking repeatedly as if he hadn't heard you right as he stammered. "W-What? Want??..."
" Randy…Sex." Your face warmed as you smiled at him. "You don't have to."
He hesitated. "I know I'm being a dork but why?"
You sheepishly smirked and stumbled out. "W-Well...Listen, we both like each other. We both feel good right now and Stu hasn't came back in minutes doing god knows what and hopefully he gives us privacy. And…I might not see you for a long while."
Randy couldn't get any redder but his eyes hooded a bit while he swallowed. "Are…Are you sure?"
"Yeah. Hurry before he does come back. There's no one I trust like you and this is perfect right now." You admitted with a shy smile.
You saw Randy look at you fondly. The look in itself made you feel butterflies as he went back to kissing you. Getting more adventurous as his one hand squeezed your thigh and the other played with your chest through your shirt. You grunted and quickly started getting rid of any fabric on your lower body as Randy's hands shook undoing his belt and zipper. Both of you excited and nervous and just eager to do something like this.
"Are you positive? Are you drunk or-"
You cupped his face. "I'm not any more tipsy than you are. Don't hesitate on my part...Do you want this?"
He eagerly nodded with a groan as he nervously positioned himself near your entrance. You were wet enough for him to slide in if he pushed. He kept his tip there and groaned out. "I'm asking...Because I never thought in a million years a girl like you would do this with me."
"Randy, put it in." You encouraged him with a bite of your lip. You hummed in your throat as you felt him push in. He wasn't long or too girthy. In fact, he felt slightly bigger than if a few fingers were in you…But for how nervous you both were and how quick this had to be? It was the perfect size. He hesitantly moved in you and groaned while you huffed a bit. You nodded your head when he looked at you and he did it again. And again. His hips slowly found a rhythm as he seemed to curve into your g spot every so often. You softly whined as you reached up to kiss him. Feeling heat all over and those feel good tingling sensation shoot from your g spot deep into your core with those certain strokes.
"Up a bit. Angle your hips upward." You instructed with a smile and bite of your lip.
"Like this?" Randy's eyes were hooded as his mouth parted. He angled his hips to roll up and you moaned a bit.
"Just like that…Just like that, Randy…Oh." You softly moaned as you felt yourself get more turned on with each stroke. "Faster…" You became painfully aware after a few moments that Stu could come back and you both could be interrupted. "Yes, Randy…Yes." You softly sighed out as he picked up the pace and you moaned a bit. Feeling your hips move with him. His dick rubbing against a very nice spot thanks to him listening to you.
"Oh YN…Oh shit, YN…You feel so good." Randy whimpered out a bit as you could tell he was getting close.
You kissed him and in between kisses. "Not yet…Please I'm close not yet-" You whined as you tried focusing on the pleasure of it all. Being with Randy like this, the memory of it going to seal into your brain forever at how close your feeling to him and how good he was making you feel even for a first time and even if you didn't cum.
Another few moments went by and you swore you were on the edge as Randy looked like he was really trying to hold out for you…All before you heard a whistle.
You both froze, stopped moving completely. Stu's annoying voice ringing out. "No fucking way! God damn, I leave for 10 minutes and you're both fucking in the woods?! YN…Damn girl, I didn't know you got down like that and with Ray?" Stu laughed out while sticking out his tongue.
Randy pulled out so quick it was almost painful as he covered himself and you tried shoving your legs together as Stu walked closer.
Randy was so red faced with a glare as he breathlessly snapped. "You were probably fucking watching us and just waiting to ruin it, perv!"
Stu chuckled but kept walking closer. "Maybe…It was kind of hot…Well, YN was…" You quickly tried to get your clothes over your wet and throbbing between your legs with how close you were to cumming before Stu squatted down and whispered to you. "Hey, babygirl. Shhh…Calm down…You enjoyed that, didn't you?" He smiled at you.
You felt mortified. You were started to wonder if Stu was a fucking sadist with how much joy he got in spoiling these sort of things. He couldn't wait 2 more minutes, if that?!
Stu touched your knee and Randy protectively shoved it away. "Hey man, what the fuck are you doing?!"
"Relax!" Stu drew out. "Relax baby…You look like you had fun…Do you feel good?" Stu gently pushed your chin up with his hand and you felt your head spinning.
Stu smiled down at you and your eyes couldn't help seeing the bulge in his jeans. A big ass fucking bulge. Your mouth dried and you screamed at yourself this was wrong to Randy and this was fucked up and this was all going too far but Stu gently pushed your chin up to look at him. "You're beautiful, baby…Had me so damn hard watching you.... Did Randy make your pussy feel good, honey?" He cooed softly.
You couldn't even answer that! The way Stu was looking at you and his voice dripping those words…His frame and his tent in his pants. This was nuts…Oh god this was nuts but fuck you were losing what little resolve you had.
Randy shoved him as Stu fell back on his ass with a grin. "Hey! Enough!" Randy snapped out.
Stu smirked at you as he leaned back. His bulge looked even bigger as you saw his muscles in his arms and that flirty grin on his face. He stuck out his long thick tongue jokingly like he did and your clit jolted on its own. You couldn't deny his appeal or charming words while he was looking at you.
"Is it enough, Ray?...I don't think it is." He crawled towards you and your chest heaved up and down with every eager breath. "I think…She is very, very unsatisfied. I think she needs a little more…Don't you baby?" He crawled over to you and before Randy could react. He kissed you.
Stu was so passionate and eager compared to Randy. His tongue demanded to go in your mouth as he gripped your head and ran firm but slow movements along your teeth and tongue all before sucking on your tongue a bit. He released you, teeth grazing your lower lip with a chuckle as you were in a daze looking at him.
Randy went to fight or flight, you weren't sure which before Stu held up a hand. "Now hold on here, man! Why don't we all have fun? It's just us three in the woods. We're all going to separate college's. You didn't shoot your load…She's hot and bothered...I'm horny myself…Why not?"
Stu gazed at you lustfully and you felt down right out submissive and shy in the best way with him. It was like night and day between him and Randy but you were so turned on and tipsy and Stu was making good points.
You knew it wasn't a good idea…But fuck it.
"...Okay."
Randy's eyes widened at you. "Okay!?" He seemed hurt.
"Only if you're okay with it, Randy!" You quickly saved, looking up at him. "Stu's right, we're all going to college soon at least you both are. And so far away and we're all kind of turned on and it's…It's whatever you want."
Randy seemed completely torn and you couldn't blame him. You were too.
Stu sighed. "Come on, man! Look, it's a one time thing and even though most girls can't get enough of me once I lay down the pipe-" He rolled his eyes. "I'm sure she'll probably meet you on break every semester to tickle your gerkin, alright? I ain't stealing her or nothin and it'll be fun…Actually never had a threesome before."
Randy still seemed conflicted till Stu just put his hand in between your legs. You yelped in surprise before he started rubbing the softest circles right above your clit on the hood. It made it feel good but ache for more at the same time as you just couldn't contain the tiny moan that came out as he whispered in your ear. "That's a good girl…You like that, don't you?"
He looked at Randy while he still played with you. His thick long fingers sliding down both lips on either side; up and down. Getting the blood flow circulating as you just naturally opened your legs with a soft groan. Your pussy on full display to Randy as he gulped and stared.
"See? You really wanna leave her like this? She's so damn willing and ready, man. Don't you wanna take turns getting dirty in the woods with such a dirty little girl we got here?" He teased you as he kissed your neck and his fingers rubbed over your clit. You moaned louder with your head falling back as Stu's fingers rubbed rougher than you liked but with how turned on you were it just felt good.
Before you knew it, Stu put both hands on your thighs and slowly pushed them open. "Easy, baby, Easy, easy…Let me show you a good time, babe." He whispered to you as you saw Randy watch with a bite of his lip.
You nodded as you let Stu separate your thighs and being the sadist he was. He just stared at your pussy for as long as it made you self conscious…All before taking his fingers and barely touching your clit with the back of them. Tilting his head and smirking as you squirmed a bit.
"Someone's a little eager slut tonight."
"Stu just!-...Do something!" You groaned out in annoyance. This was already surreal and he was making you have second thoughts teasing like this.
"Alright, alright…She's a bossy slut too." He mocked while unzipping himself. Your eyes bulged at how big he was. He was 6'4 and lean so it shouldn't be a shock but compared to Randy? It made you a bit nervous. He smiled at you. "Don't worry, sweetheart. I'll make it fit…You'll be so sloppy wet for me. It'll slide right in that hot little pussy like butter, babygirl."
You felt heat in your core at how he looked at you and talked to you. Jesus Christ.
He laughed. "Damn, Randy! She's bone dry-" Stu spit right on your pussy. "You suck, man."
You went to roll your eyes and argue he was full of shit and Randy had you wet. Not dripping but wet…But everything died in your throat when you felt a hot wet tongue swipe that spit over your inner lips. You couldn't help gasping loudly. Stu just did what he wanted, when he wanted, how he wanted with such vulgar passion. He didn't hesitate anything as he just dove right into eating you out.
You cried out louder than you intended as his tongue started lapping slowly but firm over your aching clit. Rolling that long hot tongue over and over. The whimpers and moans just spilled out of you as Stu eagerly licked your pussy. His tongue was just as flexible as it was long as he made all kinds of wet noises with his mouth as he licked and sucked at your clit. Sucking while doing fast licking motions had your hips bucking a bit.
You were in your own world right now. You didn't know anything but how Stu was making you feel with how eager he was.
You spared a glance at Randy to see him roughly palming himself through his pants with a bite of his lip. Just that sight turned you on beyond repair. All of this did! In fact, you were shocked how quickly you came. It took half the amount of time it did for you normally as you cried out and grabbed Stu's head. Your hips bouncing against him involuntarily before just laying there spasming. You tried squirming away as Stu smirked against your folds, continuing his assault on your sensitive clit even after the orgasm.
"Stu! S-Shit, noooo-oooohh." You moaned out even if that 'no' didn't have as much force as it should have.
"Hey, she's done." Randy told Stu with a glare. Clearly both jealous and bitter yet turned on at the same time.
Stu rolled his eyes and pulled away, purposely wiping your wetness off his chin in front of you. "Finnnee…I got her soaked anyways. Think she's ready to take all this-" He sat up and held the base of his dick. It was at least 7 to 8 inches long and thicker than you thought. You couldn't tell if it was as thick as Randy or slightly more but it was a sight for sure.
Randy looked at you. "YN, you don't have to do this-"
"Man, shut up!" Stu barked out before scoffing. "If she didn't want it, she'd say it…Ain't that right, YN? Come on, Sweetcheeks. I kinda want you to beg for it anyways-" Stu leveled his cockhead at your wet entrance and you quivered a bit. "Go on. Beg."
You were tongue tied before he slid it up between your folds. The wet shlicking noises just as loud as the fire crackling as his tip met your clit and he just rubbed his length up and down between your wet lips.
"Beg for it." He demanded again.
"I-I want it." You forced out with a swallow.
"You can beg better than that, girl. Tell me what a filthy slut you are."
Randy glared at Stu but you were so horny and him talking to you like that was something you didn't know you needed but now you did!
"I'm a slut for it…I want it." You mumbled as Randy's eyes widened.
Stu stared down at you. His gaze dark and his eyes transfixed on you as he tapped his cock in his hand against your clit. "What are you a slut for?"
"For…Wanting you to fuck me in the woods in front of Randy." It sounded so wrong but it just came out.
Stu smirked. "Are you my slut?"
That you faltered on and he barely stuck it in. That tiny little burn no matter how wet you were both annoyed you and made you crazy. It was mildly uncomfortable but made you ache for it.
"Are you…My…Slut?" He demanded.
"God damn it, Stu! Fine! I'm your filthy slut, okay?!" You hissed out eagerly looking down.
Stu giggled a bit and stuck his tongue out. "Man, I just asked for slut but now you're a filthy one? Yeah, you are. You're a filthy girl. A dirty, filthy, slutty girl and you're all mine…And now Ray gets to watch how I fuck my girls pussy."
He slid in faster than he needed to and you openly him. "Stop!"
Stu rolled his eyes but didn't slam back in again. "Yeah, I know I got a lot of manhood to take…Don't worry, you'll get used to it." He barely moved his hips upward and between the stretch and the motion you didn't know whether to cry or moan.
Stu whistled at Randy. "Hey, you just gonna let her be in pain here? Come on, boy wonder. Rub her clit."
You didn't want it to stop but your body was having a hard time getting used to the stretch. You bit your lip and cringed and before you knew it, Randy was on his knees and his hand was between your legs. You sighed as he rubbed tiny firm circles on your clit.
Stu whispered huskily. "Atta girl…Easy easy…Her pussy just took another inch of me on its own. Keep rubbing her, Ray."
Randy retorted as he spread some of your wetness over your clit and moved it around the hardened bud. "I'm shocked you know what a clit is. Figured you hit it like a caveman and split before the girl can even put her panties back on."
Stu grabbed your ankles in his hands and started moving in you. "Man, screw you. You're the fucking virgin…Was…How do you know what a clit is?"
"Anatomy books and uh…Look, the video store gets boring and we got porno's to stock." Randy rubbed those circles on your clit with his long but soft fingers. "How you feeling YN?"
You moaned softly with each trust. "Good. Faster." You closed your eyes and tried to just focus on how thick Stu was, how he filled you up and seemed to touch every nerve, how Randy's fingers felt.
Stu smirked. "You heard her, man. Faster." And before you knew it, Stu let go of your ankles and shoved your knees back instead, putting his full weight on your thighs as he started pumping in and out of you. He wasn't hard but it was a steady, fast and steady rhythm that made your leg shake.
"FUCK!" You cried out, moaning louder as Randy picked up the pace and bit his lip while he watched you.
Stu jerked your shirt and ordered Randy. "Help out a little, man! Undo her bra and play with her tits. I wanna see them bounce a bit. God knows you never felt those before. Probably gonna tweak the nipple like a radio knob." Stu chuckled in between huffs as he thrusted in you.
Randy blushed and shoved your bra up to show your breast. "Bite me." Randy retorted while one hand circled your nipple and the other circled your clit at the same rhythm.
"Jesus Christ, man. Pinch it, pull it, rub it harder. She needs to cum. She's desperate for it."
Randy hesitated before gently pulling one of your nipples while rubbing your clit faster and you felt your head roll back with a moan.
"Yeah man, keep playing with those. She loves it." Stu talked like you weren't a person. Like you were a toy and somehow that turned you on more.
Then, he hit a spot that had you jolt and a wave of hot pleasure course through you. It was past your g spot and near your cervix you couldn't tell if it was behind or below or what but you just knew it was an area you couldn't reach with fingers but the way he positioned you had him hitting that A spot. It should hurt but instead it almost felt like a mini orgasm course through you but not quite. It was...Fucking amazing!
Stu and Randy saw your reaction and gave you a curious look. Stu slowly rolled his hips so he pressed against that spot again and your back arched. Stu got a wicked grin on his face as he started pumping into you there in those deep long strokes. "I think I found a sweet spot, huh Sweetcheeks?"
You moaned high pitched as you felt that heat pooling in you. Randy kept playing with your clit and nipples with a strained turned on expression.
Stu giggled. "I know Randy's probably a cuck on the low but damn girl you're selfish. You aren't gonna offer him a hand or anything?"
The idea of getting Randy off turned you on and honestly felt right with how he was pleasuring you. Everything was ecstasy right now as you tried to hastily undo his pants while Stu kept bouncing your body while thrusting in you. Randy quickly helped you, all of you breathing heavily and moaning or grunting. You grasped Randy and started pumping him quickly. You were so close and so fucking turned on you couldn't imagine going slow. He didn't seem to mind, moaning deeply as he kept massaging your clit and Stu held you down; pounding against that deep spot that felt addictive.
This lasted another few moments before Stu started grunting and going a bit faster. And that's all it took. Him pounding that wonderful spot and your g spot every other thrust while holding you down, Randy rubbing your clit and roughly palming your breast, you jerking Randy off and hearing him moan and whimper. You came undone almost screaming. Stu clamped his hand over your mouth and pounded. "That's right, baby. Cum on my cock! Take this shit, babygirl...Good girl. That's a good girl, cum for me."
Your eyes rolled into the back of your head as he made you ride it out. Your kegel muscles sucking and squeezing on him involuntarily as he dragged himself out of you and quickly started jerking his cock off. It was just seconds before Stu groaned and hot spurts of his cum splashed onto your stomach. He let go of your mouth as Randy stopped moving on your clit. Closing his eyes and whining as you pumped him still.
"Shit…Shit-" Stu laughed out breathlessly. "That was a close call, man…God damn, YN…" He groaned out before looking at Randy with a smile.
Randy hadn't came yet, huffing and trying as you jerked him off.
Stu being the talker he was told you. "Give the man some release. Let him cum on your tits, babe. It's gonna be the only pair he'll ever get."
You nodded, almost smiling at the idea as you saw how desperate Randy was. "It's okay, Randy. Go ahead. I want you to cum...Cum for me, Randy."
Stu chimed in. "See? She gave you the A okay, my guy-"
"Stu, I'd cum faster if you would shut up." Randy grumbled with furrowed eyebrows.
Stu snickered to himself.
You decided to help Randy a bit. Moving your hand up and down his thigh through his jeans while encouraging him. "That's it Randy...That's it, cum for me...You're doing good." It took just a few moments before Randy's body stiffened and a low groan escaped him and he came on you.
You didn't even care. You were exhausted and on cloud nine as you all just stayed there a moment before Stu bent down and licked his own cum off your belly. You just sighed and tried to calm down a bit. Praying he didn't lick between your legs again because a part of you was too sensitive and another part knew you wouldn't be able to say no.
Stu wiped his mouth. "I'll clean mine but I am not cleaning Ray's. That's gay."
You couldn't help chuckling as Randy rolled his eyes and offered you a napkin. He almost went to clean you off but saw your breast and faltered a bit. Sheepishly handing it to you to clean off yourself while he looked away a bit. The realization of post nut clarity hitting him and maybe you? But Stu seemed unashamed as hell.
Stu finally zipped himself up. "So, are we doing this again?"
You cringed. "Stu I don't know this was like a one time thing so...Maybe later? All I know is we are NEVER letting this get out."
"Aw, where's the fun in that?"
Randy coughed and looked away as he mumbled at Stu. "Seriously man, what happens in the woods stays in the woods."
Stu rolled his eyes with a smirk. "You prudes. It was fun! Not my fault Randy was a cuck and YN is a bit of a kinkier girl than what she wants to say-" He got up. "Okay, Imma take a leak. You guys better not do anything without me…AGAIN."
You and Randy both sat there awkwardly smiling and trying to form the words for what happened and what this meant going forward.
Meanwhile, Stu quickly rushed a ways away from the bonfire with a wicked grin on his face. Pulling out his flip phone he just got that had really become smaller than the cellular he and Billy used last year.
He giggled as he typed up Billy's number. Randy just was desperate for female attention especially after they murdered Sid, Stu liked you but he also just liked sex and anyone giving him attention if he was being honest but Billy? He genuinely had a crush on you for years but you never realized it. Stu knew Billy would probably kick his ass but it was worth it.
"Hey Billy boy…Guess what I juusstt diiid…And with who."

Well, that was one hell of an episode.
I'll start with what we're all thinking: it's disappointing that the sweet moments that Rick and Morty shared in "A Rick in King Mortur's Mort" weren't real. "Little junebug" and the hug in particular were so loving. Admittedly, Rick seemed out of character, but I loved seeing his grandfatherly side.
However, I don't think it's entirely a bad thing. "Rick" changed way too quickly, and Morty forgave him too quickly. It let Rick off the hook when Morty deserves to tell Rick how much he hurt him. Rick needs to face what he's done, not make up with a quick hug and nice words.
And I mean--Rick could have programmed that robot to be cruel. He could've programmed him to mentally beat the family down so they wouldn't bother the real Rick. Or he could've programmed to be the same as he is. Why not? But he programmed that robot to be gentle and loving: the grandfather that Morty deserves. The one that Rick would've been in another lifetime.
I love how the robot also pointed out that anything that he did, Rick technically did himself. Rick programmed the robot to act that way.
"Rick and Morty is about how nothing matters!" Bullshit. The robot wasn't just a replacement Rick. Yes, Rick built him because he was being a petty asshole, but he could've made that robot an abusive piece of shit to be an even pettier asshole. Instead, the robot showed us Rick at his best.
Tumblr media
I was glad that the episode clarified that Rick made the robot at the beginning of the previous episode so that we didn't have to wonder how long we'd been watching a Rick stand-in.
Rick still did everything else this season. He willingly went to therapy, spent time with his family, helped Jerry when he didn't need to (and side-eyed the family for making fun of him), told Morty that he loves him, threw himself on top of Morty to protect him, showed him physical gentleness, told him that his life matters, tried to be a better father to his daughters, and abandoned his revenge quest in "Solaricks" when Morty called him "Grandpa." He's still changing.
And this is the same man that's making himself crazy as he tries to hunt down Prime Rick. He abandoned that for a moment for the Smiths.
Even in this episode, Rick was tame compared to his past behavior. He's still crabby and somewhat distant, but he's far from the monster that he was in "The Rickchurian Mortydate" (and again, another brilliant callback to season three.)
Tumblr media
Still, my heart breaks for Morty. All he wants is for Rick to love him. Rick does love him, but not in the way that he needs. His parents aren't exactly great, either--the Smiths might do more together as a family, but wake me up when Morty has another episode with Beth or Jerry. We've got, what, one of each? And his episode with Jerry was all the way back in season one.
Morty's repressed rage isn't going anywhere, either. I was shocked when he tried to kill the president. He's been racking up a body count since "Look Who's Purging Now" in season two, and I wonder how much worse he's going to get.
Not that I blame him after all the trauma he's experienced. The world had written him off as a nobody long before Rick showed up. Once, he was lonely and neglected. Now, Rick gives him plenty of attention and even affection, but he's also been selfish, abusive and just batshit crazy at times. When is it going to end?
I'm glad that this episode revived the tension between Rick and Morty--it's not a good thing, but it shows that Rick hasn't magically become a saint. It also shows that Morty's continuing to stand up for himself. And let's face it: we've got four more seasons to go. Their issues can't end here.
Maybe they'll split up for good. Maybe Morty will try to kill him. Maybe Morty will snap and carve a path of destruction throughout the galaxy. Maybe Morty's love will save him.
Tumblr media
On a lighter note, I LOVED it when Rick said that the president and his inventions would give him "neurotypical cooties." I thought the writers had forgotten that Rick is autistic before season six. Nope, they haven't--and the series is blatant about representation.
No "Haha we code Rick as autistic! We won't state that in the show though lol!" No accidental portrayal, like Sheldon Cooper, that's offensive to the autistic community. Rick is autistic, and the show's going to rub your face in it. Cry about it, dudebros who say that Rick is neurotypical (and yes, they say that. I've seen it!)
The cliffhanger also made me ecstatic. It's everything that I wanted from a cliffhanger. Season five had a decent one, but it wasn't about Rick's character or backstory. It was just the usual "Damn, how are they going to get out of this?"
I can't wait to see Rick chase Prime in season seven. I'm also hoping that the show will become more serialized as it goes on. I've been saying for a while that making it increasingly successive and going full serialization in season ten would be gutsy and thrilling to watch.
Overall, this was a great season that seems to be building up to something even greater. The new writers clearly love and respect the show. They brought up concepts that I thought the show would never touch again, like Morty liking science (has that ever come up before? He has a bunch of science stuff in his room, but the show didn't touch on it.) All the callbacks were great and never seemed like nostalgia bait. They were loving tributes to the series.
And the new writers seem to like us, lol. They were clearly trying to please our "side" of the fandom.
Rick paused his revenge quest for his family, but he didn't end it. He'll do almost anything to kill Prime. Anything to eliminate the suffering that he can't drown with abuse and alcohol. Anything to make the pain go away for the last time.

HAVING DINNER AT LANGDONS' - tate langdon x fem!reader (part 1)
CW: //
SUMMARY: you just moved to los angeles so the langdons invited you and your family to have dinner at their house since they were your new neighbors. during the dinner you caught tate's attention.
part 2 here
Tumblr media Tumblr media
"welcome in this awesome neighborhood!" constance opened the door and let you and your family come in. "make yourselves at home".
you went in and saw a few more people sitting at the table.
"oh that's my husband hugo and my two beautiful kids - adelaide and tate" mrs langdon said.
"hi!" the girl said smiling. you assumed she was adelaide.
"hey" the blond guy in front of her greeted. he must have been tate.
you took a sit while constance was talking to your parents - they were chatting and laughing, meanwhile you were already getting bored but when you lifted your head, you noticed that the blond guy was actually getting bored too.
tate noticed you as well and smiled at you, then you smiled back but lowered your head immediately as you heard your parents' steps getting closer to the dining table.
"my husband says that dinner is already ready!" constance announced.
your parents took a sit and impatiently waited to eat.
"hello darling, what's your name?" she asked looking and smiling at you.
"I'm y/n" you said and faked a smile.
"would you like to talk a bit about yourself so that we can break the ice and introduce ourselves too?" constance suggested and looked around looking for the others' endorsements.
you nodded and spoke - "uhm... I'm a student and I deal with languages so I can travel and interact with people from other countries"
"sounds so cool" hugo said. you felt all the eyes on you for a second but especially two eyes in particular - tate's ones.
you laid your eyes on tate to check him and you caught him staring at you like you just said the most interesting thing on the earth.
you let yourself smirk since you actually found him attractive. you couldn't tell if he noticed your smirk but he definitely smirked back after you.
"do you have a boyfriend?" adelaide asked you. she caught you off guard as you weren't looking in her direction.
"no, I don't" you said embarrassed and immediately looked at tate in front of you. his eyes looked brighter and he was shamelessly smirking, he was not even trying to hide it.
then he looked down and played a bit with his fork, but still keeping that smirk on his face.
you smiled at that scene and made adelaide suspicious. "my brother can't get his eyes off you" she sighed.
you looked at adelaide and smiled in embarrassment and you lowered your head. then you just started eating.
"what about you, tate - do you have a girlfriend?" your mom asked him and everybody shut up.
"uhm... no, I don't" he said looking straight at you. he embarrassed you so much because you were literally the only person tate laid his eyes on that night.
"I really like this house" you said to break the silence since everyone was eating.
"I'm glad you like it, do you want to check upstairs?" constance said.
she didn't let you respond and she kept talking - "tate, would you like to show her the house?"
you widened your eyes and instantly looked at tate. he nodded and stood up, making you feel forced to stand up as well.
as you walked away, tate followed you and looked at you from head to toe. he literally ate you up with his eyes.
once you got to the stairs you let tate go ahead so he could show you around the house.
"do you like living here?" he said.
"not much but I think I'll get used to it" you replied.
"this is a very long hall and... at the end... here we are - this is my room. I have lots of things so I don't mind if you have a look inside" he politely said and smiled at you.
tate was very enchanted by you since you stepped inside and you couldn't stop thinking about it. his eyes on you felt like an addiction for you since the beggining of the night.
you smiled back and got into tate's room. it was pretty dark but also wonderful. it was decorated and had a piece of tate's personality everywhere - from his music taste to his hobbies.
"I like it... I wish I had a room like yours" you said and let out a soft laugh.
"I bet your room looks better than mine" he said.
"mmh it has a lot of big boxes and bags everywhere since we just moved".
"got it. well, you may decorate it in the future" he got closer to you.
"I've seen you before and... I think you're very pretty" he said making you blush.
you didn't say anything and just kept your stare on the floor.
"so you don't have a boyfriend, do you?" he wrapped his arm around your waist and with the other hand he lifted your head by putting two fingers under your chin.
you raised your head and crossed tate's eyes. you immediately felt a weird sensation - your legs started shaking and your cheeks got warmer.
his eyes were darker than you thought and his lips looked so damn kissable in that moment.
tate couldn't resist and pressed his soft lips on yours, it wasn't rough or violent at all - it was sweet and kinda hungry. you immediately wrapped your arms around his neck so you could reach his height to kiss him easily.
in a few seconds you guys immediately stopped as you heard someone calling you out - constance was looking for you.
you looked at each other like you just committed a mistake that felt very good. tate sighed and brough you downstairs.
"why do you have lipstick on your lips?" adelaide asked looking at tate. he looked confused for a minute but then he remebered whose lipstick was that.
he smirked trying not to be seen by the others and looked at you. his stare was so intense that you almost thought that he was trying to communicate with you with his mind.

(🔴) ... DIVE STUDIOS X ENHYPEN [ JAY JAKE AND SUA ] !
💬nia notes: since this was incredibly long , i only added the parts where sua would speak or someone would speak to or about her.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
"boys and girls welcome to the daebak show , today i'm 3 incredibly talented and incredibly good looking people , they're from a group that you've probably heard of , that you're probably a fan of , and im a fan of them as well , ladies and gentlemen please give a big warm welcome to jay and jake of enhypen."
the trio clapped doing there group intro. "well guys welcome to the show , im glad to finally meet you guys , in person." eric said. "the last time we met was over the phone , on like a zoom call."
"sua this isn't my first time meeting you." she smiled. "but this is my first time with you on the show." she nodded , laughing. "yeah , we saw each other in busan , at the restaurant , with my sister." she said.
"so jay is from the states , and jake is from australia , but sua you're from new zealand , where you born there or did you move as well?" eric questioned. "i was born in new zealand , and then i moved to korea when i auditioned for enhypen." she said. "and does your family live here or are they still in new zealand?" "my mom's mom still lives here , and so does my sister , but the rest of family is in new new zealand."
"sua , what was the biggest surprise for you on tour?" eric asked. "uh , i think seeing all the fans from different countries, it was crazy." she said. "it's like , thousands of people are coming to see us preform , like people actually paid a lot of money to see us sing and dance , it was wild."
"growing up , did you guys always wanted to be musicians , like what inspired really inspired you to become who you are today?"
"sua weren't you gonna be a neurosurgeon?" jay asked , eric turned to you confused. "excuse me." she laughed. "how-how did you get here , how do you transition from that to this , were you like in college for it?"
"actually no , when i was a child i was studying really hard and that was the plan , but it went left and i started doing opera." that just made him even more confused. "her timeline is just the most bizarre thing." jake said. "it's not that crazy." she said. "so how'd you get to this point , im so intrested."
"my sister actually auditioned for i-land , and she wanted me to do it , and i did , thinking like there are thousands of people there's no way im gonna make it." she said. "but you did?" she nodded happily. "and now im here." she chuckled.
"are your parents supportive of what you do and encouraging of you being kpop stars?"
"my mom is , my dad he's more so on the realistic side." she said. "what do you mean , if you don't mind explaining." "well , as you said to jake , this industry is really cut throat , and he knew coming into this , i had no idea what i was getting myself into , and it was a chance that i might not make it , and still now everything change like that." she started. "and he's just like he's not belittling of it , but i think he'd rather i'd be studying to be a doctor." she explained. "ah , okay."
"do you guys remember your first audition song?" she thought about it. "i think it was here by alessia cara , it was the easiest song i could mesmerize quickly."
"have you had a moment , where it was like , uh , i think i want to give up? have you had those moments yet?" "i don't think it's like i can't do this anymore." she said. "but i often use to question myself , like is this the right decision? am i doing the right thing , i think that's how it is for me."
"what were you first impressions of each other?" "well everyone saw sua the first day we started filming the show." jake said. "oh really?" eric said. "yeah , and it wasn't shocking or anything because we knew it would be a few girls there , but it's just we've never seen her before even when training." jake said. "sua why is that?"
"that's because i avoided everyone as much as can." they all laughed. "like not even in a bad way , but in a , im gonna embarrass myself in front of these people , and i refuse to let that happen way." she said. "how'd you manage to do that?" she shrugged. "i guess no one was really looking for me , i was only there for four months , before the show started." she explained.
"well when you first talked to them , what was your impression?" she looked at jake. "can we talk about this?" he asked. "i mean i guess , we have before i think." she said. "what , what is it?" eric was intrested. "well me and jake didn't have a good impression of each other." she said. "really?" he said. "why not , you guys seem pretty close?"
"we are now." jake said. "yeah , now of course we are , but when we first met , it wasn't that good." she spoke. "why?"
"she's starting to realize it , when she's nervous or like in a situation that she isn't familiar with , she can sometimes come off as cold and i guess , i was a bit immature and i took it as like she doesn't want to be friends , so it's immature now that i think about it but it's way different now." jake explained. "yeah , i see now looking back , i didn't have this like look of don't bother me , but trust me i didn't really mind and i just don't think he saw that." eric nodded. "what a mature way of thinking?"
"and what did you two think of each other?" he pointed to sua and jay. "when i first talked to jay , i thought he was so cool." she admitted. "the way he carried himself , i just though wah , so cool." she said. "what about you jay?" he looked at her. "she was definitely quiet when i saw her , so i thought ah she must be nervous , but when i talked to her , i quickly realized she talks just as much as i do." she rolled her eyes. "i could never out talk you."
"okay , i heard you guys have a bunch of rules for your dorm , 7 rules for the enhypen dorm." he showed them the picture from en-house content. "ah those." she chuckled.
"are these all still in effect." "yeah they still are."
"sua still breaks the shower rule." she rolled her eyes. "it must be true , you rolled your eyes." she laughed. "not shower , i try and get up before everyone does , it's just that hair and make up does take forever." she said. "her skin care takes like 10 minutes alone." she nodded. "it really does , and my hair is thick so it takes a while to dry , make-up i do in my room so it's really just my hair."
"you all seem close , but if you had to chose one member to travel with , who would go with?" eric questioned. "sunoo." she said. "sunoo is just so fun to be around , he would make the best out of it." she explained. "i really want to go on vacation with him one day."
"what about shopping? would you also choose ni-ki." she shook her head yeah. "he also gives good advice when it comes to things like that , like if it's something that he knows won't be flattering he's like noona , put that back please im trying to help you , saves so much time because besides sunghoon these guys would lie to me just to get out of the store."
"what are you guys afraid of?" "spiders." she said. "oh im terrified of spiders , i will cry." "there was a spider in her and she slept in the living room for 2 days." jake brought up the embarrassing spider story. "2 days , why didn't anyone get it?"
"we tried , we couldn't find it , heeseung finally found it and got rid of it , but she wouldn't even go in to get clothes without someone." she blushed. "not my best moment."
they were talking about the I-land ghost. "where you scared sua , of the ghost." she shook her head. "a little , i think i was more so scared of the stories the other members would tell , because i haven't had any experiences with it and i was scared it would one say pop up on me."
"uh sua you actually have solo music , that you write and produce yourself." she nodded. "i do , i have three." she said. "that is so cool , when did you start producing?"
"i think in 2020 , i wanted to get into it because i thought it was cool , so i asked for help and then i released raise your glass as like a tester and people loved it , so then i went to release idoll and then recently it was love you twice." she explained. "that's so cool." she nodded. "i even got to preform idoll at our concert and jay taught me the chords on the guitar so i got to play." she said.
they played a quick game of rapid questions before they moved on to the album exchange.
"you three are the first to ever get this album , because it's not even out yet." he handed them the album. "thank you so much." she bowed , taking the album.
after going through the albums , unfortunately it was time to go. "is there anything else you want to say?"
"sua?" "uh , thank you for saving us , it was so fun , and engenes i can't wait to see you guys on tour , love you."

Once the hour was up, Princess Lovisa as well as Ahsoka met her parents downstairs, along with her sister, and the two Jedi, as the royal guards loaded the luggage onto the two carriages.
"I know that you don't see this as fair, Lovey, but know that it is because we love you, and wish no harm on the both of you." The king said, his hands on Lovisa's shoulders, as he looked at his two daughters. "And when it is safe, you will return, but only until then."
"Well, let's hope these Jedi are actually good at their job, then." Lovisa rolled her eyes.
"I will miss you both." Padme pouted, as she hugged their mother.
"We will miss you both infinitely more." She said.
"What if, who ever is after us, they come after the both of you, what if you are harmed, and we are not there?" Lovisa asked.
"We will be protected, it will be okay, my lovey." Her father promised, hugging his little girl, tightly, and she hugged him back, resting her head against his shoulder.
And then they switched.
Her mother fluffed out her hair, fixing her tiara as she looked at her.
"You are so beautiful." She commented, swiping her daughters cheek.
"I get it from you." Lovisa blushed.
"Be a good girl, I know you can be." Jobal said, a sternness in her tone.
"I won't make any promises." She joked.
"Go on, time is ticking." Jobal raised the hood of her cloak, pulling it over her head.
"Bye, I'll miss you." Lovisa squeaked, giving both her parents a kiss goodbye, after her sister.
Anakin was waiting by the open door of the carriage, his hand was out as he helped Padme in.
"Why thank you..."
"Anakin, Anakin Skywalker, pleasure to meet you, Princess." He smiled at her.
"Pleasure's all mine." Padme replied, climbing in, and taking a seat.
He then went to help Lovisa, but she took a step back.
"After you, Jedi." She nodded her head, for him to get in.
"I don't think so, I was warned about you, I'd prefer if you weren't sat near any exits." He told her.
"Well, if you insist." She rolled her eyes, lifting her dress and bunching it up into her hands, as she grabbed a hold of the bar on the outside, lifting herself up and in, ignoring Anakin's help.
"Anakin, maybe you should learn some manners along this." She could hear Obi-Wan hiss. "You just left the Princess to get in herself?"
"I tried." He argued. “But she refused my help, master!”
Lovisa covered her mouth, as she chuckled to herself.
"I'm glad you find yourself amusing, I guess somebody has to." Padme told her.
"I very much do." She replied, looking at her sister. "It's a pleasure to find myself so funny."
"Har har." Padme rolled her eyes. "He's sweet, charming, and rather handsome, don’t you think so?"
"You don't know that, and no, I most definitely do not."
Their conversation was cut off, as the two Jedi climbed in, sitting opposite the two princesses.
Then the door was closed.
Lovisa moved the curtain from the window, as she stared outside, mentally saying goodbye to the Palace, her home, as the horses pulled them away.
"You, know, Lovey, it was actually Anakin that would have saved your life, if you were actually in your room, last night." Padme started.
"What do you mean by that?" She entertained her sister.
"He was the one who went after whoever it was, and gave up a good chase, too, so you didn't save your own life, you would have been fine."
"Well." She looked at the boy. "Good job, very good on catching him." She held out two thumbs up, "Oh wait.... you didn't."
"Princess, if I may..." Obi-Wan spoke up.
"If you must." She answered.
"Anakin was close, we just didn't expect whoever it was, to jump out from the top window, unfortunately, it was too dark for us to get a good lead on where he went."
"A window, and they survived?"
"We assume so." Anakin had visibly stiffened up, he found himself to already not be too much of a fan of the younger princess.
"My, that is impressive." Lovisa fanned her face, a small smile on her lips.
"They wanted to kill us."
"You don't know that for sure." She pointed out, as Padme looked at her in disappointment.
The carriage then fell into silence.
After a while, Lovisa moved the curtain once again, looking outside.
"I am quite surprised." The older man spoke, again, gaining the attention of the two teenagers. "That you two haven't bothered to catch up."
"Obi-Wan..." Anakin muttered.
"Catch up on what?" Lovisa asked.
"Oh, my mistake, Princess, I knew it had been a while since the last time you had come to visit the Jedi Temple with your father, I hadn't realised it was that long ago."
"What do you mean?" She quizzed.
Though he was right, as a young girl, Lovisa would go everywhere, with her father, as he fulfilled his duties, that included visiting the Jedi, but she hadn't been since she was Eleven, that was about eight years ago.
She looked at the boy opposite her, and that's when she realised.
"Little Ani?" She gasped.
She hadn't realised the small boy she had known all those years ago, when he first started as a Padawan, had a full name, or that he had grown up.
"Oh, you do remember." Obi-Wan smiled, and Anakin fought the urge to whack his master, he knew exactly what he was doing.
"I'm not so little, anymore." He defended himself.
"I can see that, though, you are still a Padawan, as I recall, you were supposed to surpass expectations, and become one of the greats in the force, but..."
"Lovisa, do not be so rude." Padme hissed.
"And yet, you will forever be a princess, but my time will come, when I am older, and I suppose wiser." Anakin told her.
The humour from Lovisa's face had vanished.
"I guess you will be waiting a very long time, then." She replied, bitterly.
"She's sensitive." Padme told the boy, patting the girls leg.
Lovisa looked out the curtain again, when she realised where they were.
She threw the carriage door open.
"Princess!" Obi-Wan shouted, as she dived out.
"I'm on it!" Anakin shouted, as he also dived out, but when he looked around, as he stood in the middle of the village, he couldn't spot the missing princess anywhere.
Obi-Wan quickly closed the door, to at least protect the other princess.
"God damn it!" Anakin cursed to himself, as he moved through the crowds of people, keeping his eye out for the girl.
He analysed the area, before spotting a dark hood, he could see how the person was trying to duck their head, he could also see the outline of something on top of their head.
He pushed through the bustling people, forcing his way through as he got nearer to her.
He had finally reached her, down an dark alleyway, the princess was attempting to climb over stacks of boxes and bins, and over a wall.
He quickly grabbed her, pulling her down and holding her against the wall.
"Why would you do that?" He demanded, as he attempted to catch his breath, staring down at her, as she lifted the hood from her view.
"This is my home, and I refuse to leave it." She said.
"You have no other choice, M'lady, your life is at risk, if you stay here, and it's my duty to prevent that."
"I wish not to go, so I shan't" She held her chin high, as she remained looking into his blue eyes.
"I'm afraid your words are nowhere near as important, as the kings, and he would have my head, if you were to be put in harms way, on my watch."
"You can't make me go back." She folded her arms across her chest.
"I'm sorry about this, Princess." He sighed.
But before she had a chance to ask why, Anakin bent down and threw the girl over his shoulder, securing the back of her legs with only his arm, after making sure that she was still decent and her cloak was covering her.
"Put me down!" She shouted, as she hit his back.
"No can do." He told her, walking out of the alleyway and back towards the carriages.
"Help! Help me!" She shouted, but due to who Anakin was, the people of Naboo instead moved out of the way for him, making a clear path as he carried the princess.
"Oh good, she didn't get far." Ahsoka smiled in relief, as she greeted the pair, standing outside her own carriage, along with Sabé.
"Shut up, Snips." Lovisa complained, as Anakin placed her back on the ground, keeping a firm hand around her arm.
"Here, Kuna thought that you might want these, later on, it helped him out a few times." Ahsoka dangled a pair of handcuffs in front of the boy, who's eyes had lit up, as he snatched them.
"Thank you." He nodded, as he held the Princess's wrist, clipping the padded metal around it, then linked the other one to his own. "There, now where you go, I will have to follow."
"You both will pay for this." She fumed, as she attempted to tug at the metal chain, linking them together.
"Ah, you’re back, very good, shall we continue the journey?" Obi-Wan popped his head out of the carriage, leaving it open for the two to join, as Ahsoka saluted to her friend, going back to her own.

Do u think when stevetony first get together there’s a fight for who gets which side of the bed? Because I think so 🤔
dear anon, i am SO glad you asked this. you have no idea what monster you've created with this question.
my short answer: yes.
my long answer:
stony ficlet: the left side of the bed
steve noticed it from the moment he started spending the night in tony's room, when their supposedly casual sex slowly started turning into more — tony always went for the left side of the bed, much to steve's dismay. as a result, he'd have restless nights full of tosses and turns, every single time. if only he could sleep on that same side...
the thing is, steve didn't have a preference just for the sake of it. between sharing a tiny bed with his mom as a child and being in a literal war, he could fall asleep anywhere. hell, tony's bed is too soft for him anyway, and sometimes the floor seemed more inviting.
so, this wasn't about him being fastidious. this was about safety: steve always had to be the closest person to the door, so he could be the first one in the line of fire, so he could protect the other person. and it just so happens that, the way the room is set up, the side near the exit was the left one.
he didn't want to bring it up and make it into a thing, so one day, a few weeks into their new and fragile relationship, he simply settled in that spot while tony was in the bathroom. he figured it was a minor enough gesture; surely he didn't need to ask?
to say it pissed tony off was an understatement.
he didn't even give a reason why this was so important to him — and steve had witnessed him sleeping diagonally on his workbench, and in a chair while slouched on the table during meetings, and even standing against a goddamn doorframe once.
"if i remember correctly, and i always do, you were leaning on the right side of it", steve had said. "but i dunno, maybe it was more comfortable than this perfectly fine right side of your bed?"
tony only got more upset.
"i dunno," he parroted, "was the ice more comfortable than this perfectly fine right side of the bed?"
it was a low blow, but steve didn't take the bait. he found no other option but to admit to tony the truth about his hang-up, which somehow escalated the situation further.
"for fuck's sake steve, you don't need to be a fucking human shield! you're off duty, and i'm no damsel in distress."
it's not that steve thought iron man needed his safeguarding. but that's how his brain was wired. he needed to protect — he'd already let down so many people in his life. he hadn't been able to get his mom medical help, he hadn't stopped bucky from falling, and he already had witnessed tony fly to his near-death once, as part of a team steve was the leader of. guarding became his default mode. but tony was so stubborn and he simply didn't get it.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
steve just sighed, but tony must have sensed his discomfort, because the fight seemed to leave his body.
then, with a soft and tentative voice, tony admitted to steve that he preferred that side because it had always been how he slept, since childhood. he always left the other part of the bed empty, and his mother would often sit there as she tucked him in, with a kiss on his forehead and a caress on his cheek.
"that's an example of the gentle side of her parenting that howard wasn't allowed to see because he'd disapprove of coddling me," tony had said. "her affection happened mostly behind the closed doors of my room, and we weren't caught once, because he never came to say goodnight."
steve felt his heart ache as he wordlessly rolled to the other side of the bed, making space for tony in his designated spot, and opening his arms for a hug.
he should have realized that tony was just like him, and that the reasons behind his neuroses were often tied to the same worries and trepidations that also drove steve mad.
it's not going to be easy to sleep like this, he had thought as he was holding his boyfriend close to his chest, but it's okay. it's for tony.
however, the following evening, when he entered the bedroom and saw that tony had moved everything around so that the right side of the bed was facing the door, he laughed with relief.
"i find solutions for everything, don't i," tony joked. "not like it wasn't the obvious thing to do, anyways."
but steve was aware that by doing what he did, he had totally messed up his carefully designed layout; even steve could admit that the room looked a bit silly now. somehow, tony genuinely seemed unbothered by it, and was just pleased that this way, nobody had to compromise on the quality of their sleep.
steve fell a little bit in love, just then.

I'LL BE YOUR FIRST LOVE : chapter 1
Tumblr media
[GENERAL]: single!dad!chan x fem!reader, strangers to lovers, smut (warning in each chapter) . fluff, Chan is readers first love
[ WARNINGS IN THIS CHAPTER]: mentions of death, mentions of car accident, hospital, reader has depression, nightmare (let me know if I forgot something)
[ AUTHOR'S NOTE]: Hiiiii, it took me a bit longer to write this new chapter cuz i was super busy. Im rlly excited to post this. Thank u guys for the activity on my last post, luv u all!!
!english is not my first language so I apologize if there are any mistakes!
You were currently sitting at some cheap airport café, staring on a plain white wall. You took a sip of your americano as you were examining the cracks on the wall in front of you – it reminded you of your heart now. Back then, when the airport was built, the walls were all new and without any cracks -just like your heart when you were young-. But after so many years the walls started to crack because of how much they went trough -just like your heart now-.
---‐----------------------‐---------------------------------------♡----------‐-----‐-------------------------------------------------
You took another sip of your ice americano and the cold liquid going down your throat woke you up from your 10 minutes-long zoning out session. You were overthinking again. You didn't know if this was a good idea because you wanted to forget about past three weeks and start a new life, but at the same time you were scared that all the good memories with your parents will stay in France, left behind.
You took your purse and went to the plane. You didn't even have a backpack because you didn't take any makeup or skin care with you on the plane - you were sick of everything, you didn't even have the energy to take care of yourself. But it wasn't like you cared anyways, you were glad that you were still alive.
You sat down into your seat and slept through the whole flight.
Flashback
"Mom?...Dad?...", you shouted from the front door as it seemed like nobody was home. You took off your shoes and went further in the apartment but nobody was there. You still lived with your parents because they were like best friends to you. You didn't have any other friends besides your mom and dad, you felt safe and comfortable with them.
"Mom? I'm home...", you shouted once again but still no response. It was weird because it was already 9PM - you just came back from your dance practice - and they still weren't home when they usually come back home from work around 6PM.
You went to the living room, with an uneasy feeling, you grabbed the remote and turned on the TV. You liked to do that when you were home alone because you didn't like silence so that there was always same noise in the background. You went to the kitchen to make yourself something to eat while listening to the TV.
"Welcome back after a short break. You can therefore see the collision of a car with a bus from the live broadcast. A few minutes ago, an ambulance came to the place where the accident happened too, but the older couple didnt survive the brutal crash by the bus. Based on the shopping bags in the trunk of the car, we think that the couple was going back from the store only few blocks away from here when the bus hit them from the side and the cap flipped on its roof. The driver brake his ligaments and his wife didn't survive serious head injuries...".
It caught your attention and you went back to the living room. You looked at the TV and that was the moment your heart broke into million ting pieces no one will ever be able to stick together again - or at least you thought.
' No... It can't be... It's not...‘, you thought in your head. The car that was flipped on its roof was your dads car. You quickly ran out without any shoes or hoodie on to go check your dads garage. There was no car, that means your parents went somewhere. You couldn’t believe it was them so you ran to the place where the accident happened only a couple of minutes ago.
You saw your dads car flipped on its roof in the middle of the road. There were plenty of people around watching and recording the whole situation, but you were still searching for the two specific people until... You saw them lying on the side of the road as two policemen were just covering then with white sheets.
You still couldn’t believe. They were gone... for good. You didn't have anyone now. The people you loved the most are really not here anymore?.....
You ran to the two motionless bodies on the side of the road and ineeded down beside them as you broke down into tears. You took your moms hand while praying that this is all just a stupid nightmare and you will wake up soon. But that never happened. As one of the policemen was trying to tale you away from there you took your moms ring off of her finger and put it into your pocket - it was her engagement ring your dad gave her.
You sat down in the grass and watched the whole situation from afar still tasting the salty tears on your lips. You didn't actually feel that you were crying, you didn't feel anything at all - you felt numb, you felt like everything died inside of you. THAT is the only thing you felt.
"Ma'am... Wake up...", you suddenly heard from afar. You looked around trying to find the lady who called you.
End of flashback
You woke up breathing heavily, tears streaming down your face like waterfalls. You had another nightmare. You wiped your tears trying to calm down. You see them everytime you try to sleep - that's the reason why you didn't sleep at all for the past three weeks, you're tired. Really tired - of your life.
You got off of the plane and waited for your suitcase to arrive. Few minutes later you were already sitting in a taxi on your way to your new apartment. You paid the driver for the ride and got out of the car. You took your suitcase and looked at the huge modern-looking building in front of you - your new life.

Chapter 3
For the morning and most of the afternoon Jon and Trinity kept the couple apart trying to get unfurnished out of both of them. The only way they were going to be able to help the way they agreed to was to do so. The mystery behind Nadine's attitude towards Zilla plagued them and from the outside looking in, the married couple knew not trying to figure it out would be detrimental to the young couple's relationship. While Jon and Zilla played the game in his man cave, Trinity and Moriah were sitting on the floor in her vanity room going through her wigs.
"Have you talked to your mom since Zilla said what he said?"
Moriah shook her head as she brushed through a hot pink wig. "Nope, I'm sure she's not happy. She was already mad that I hadn't called her in three months but I just couldn't."
"Couldn't what?" Trinity asked picking up a wig to brush.
She shrugged haphazardly. "I couldn't deal with her. On top of the stress of starting my job, Zilla's training and maintaining our relationship, I couldn't deal with the smart shit she says and the jabs she throws. The only reason I even called her was because Zilla said something."
"How does it make you feel when she says something about your relationship or Zilla?"
"It pisses me off, it always has. I hate it."
Trinity nodded.
"Did it stop during the eight years he was gone?"
She scoffed, "No, it just wasn't as frequent. I was mad at him but that didn't mean that she could say the shit she was saying, you know? When I was a freshman in college was when it started to taper off a little."
"Cause you were away at college?"
"Nope. Cause I started dating this guy," Moriah explained softly, "But once she found out that he was a pre-med and that he came from money, it picked back up. About how he was such a better choice and could do this and that for me."
Trinity raised her brows and shook her head. "Did that hurt your relationship with him?"
"Eventually. We were together two years too long."
"What happened?"
"We went to Georgia for Christmas break because I missed my dad, I talked my mom into going and that was a bad idea." She chuckled. "The whole time she was telling my dad how great Thomas was and all that other crap. And I remember seeing my dad looking at him with this hard face, when I looked at Thomas I realized why."
"What happened?"
"It was because he had this big ass grin on his face like he was enjoying being talked to at the expense of someone else. At some point, him and my dad were able to talk and it made my dad like him even less. Christmas morning he kept alluding to asking me to marry him, my dad flat out said no."
"He clearly wasn't a good person but I'm sorry that was your mom's fault. She made him feel like that was okay."
"You're right but he was also really arrogant, he just hid it well majority of our relationship."
"So what happened? Did he propose anyway?" Trinity asked switching out wigs.
"After my dad said no, my mom stepped in to say her peace and my dad asked me what I wanted to do. Told them that I wasn't ready to get married, I was barely 20."
"You weren't ready or you didn't wanna marry that specific person?" She asked with a brow raised making Moriah laugh.
"Both," she said quickly, "And my parents knew that, my mother was pissed. Then he made this big scene saying how I was stupid for even thinking about Zilla, he called him something else, and for thinking that I would have a good life with a felon. My mother of course agreed, telling me not to ruin my life."
"The nerve. He showed his true colors then."
"Yeah so my dad kicked him out right then, after he left my dad and mom argued. About what, I'm not really sure. I went to my room to call Ma and tell her Merry Christmas."
"That's sweet that you and her talked while he was gone." Trinity cooed passing a satin wig bag to her. "It sounds like your parents were on two different levels. Were they always like that?"
Moriah carefully placed the wig into the bag then at back on her hands. "Yes and no. From what I remember when they were married, they were happy but my dad bit his tongue a lot for her except when it came to me."
"Yeah? How long were they married?"
"Uuuh they got married like three years before I was born and got divorced a little bit after my eleventh birthday so fourteen years. A long time."
"Damn, why did they divorce?"
She shrugged. "All I know is my dad left his job at the time for his dream job and we were gonna have to move to Georgia and then I went from crying cause I was gonna have to leave Texas and Zilla to crying cause my dad was gonna have to leave me."
"Were they acting any different beforehand?"
"My mom was. She was so mean especially to my dad. That was when she started to vocalize to Ma that she didn't like Zilla or us being friends. Before it was just in the house, she'd tell my dad and me and occasionally say it while she knew he was in the house."
Trinity frowned, "She was taking her divorce out on yall?"
"I don't think so, I don't know really honestly."
"So let's talk about something that you do know," Trinity suggested with a small smile, "You gotta set boundaries with your mom, Rye."
She sighed sadly. "I try but she doesn't care. She tells me to stop being dramatic or stop being a baby."
"If she can't respect your boundaries then you need to have consequences. She's your mom but she doesn't get to disrespect you or your relationship." Trinity explained, maintaining eye contact. "You love him, don't you?"
"Of course."
"You wanna stay together?"
Moriah nodded.
"Then you need to do what you need to do. If you don't, you're gonna let her ruin your relationship."
"Yeah … I know. I gotta figure something out."
Down in Jon's mancave, the men were playing Tekken 7 having conversation here and there outside of the trash talking. Between the married couple, Trinity had a much better way with words and getting information slyly while her husband lacks that certain skill.
"You been talkin to your woman?" Jon asked keeping his eyes on the screen, pressing buttons.
Zilla glanced at him a few times out the corner of his eyes, making sure not to let his character to beat. "Huh?"
"Have you been talkin to Rye?"
"Uuh I live with her, I talk to her every day."
Jon sucked his teeth. "I mean about yo feelings, Uce. You letting her know if you good or if you're not good?"
Humming, Zilla focused back on the game. That was the same question his mom asked him damn near every day. He wouldn't say it out loud but he was tired of that question.
"She know I'm good."
"That mean no," Jon laughed, "That's ya woman, man. You don't have to hide shit from her. Especially when she already know when you not good."
He shook his head. "Nah, she don't. I'm good."
"Sayin that don't make it true," Jon reminded him putting his focus back into the game for a moment to make sure he didn't lose the round, "Tell me this. After you zone out and you get ya bearings back, is she watching you or staring?"
"I mean yeah but her ass always starin a hole in my face."
"Okay, does she have the usual look in her eyes or is it different?"
"Ion know," he shrugged, "Different."
"Okay so she know, I'm telling you. Yall known each other long enough that she know when you not okay and you know when she not okay. What's the point of having her if you can't talk to her?"
"I can talk to her, I just don't want to. Therapy was enough talkin, ion wanna talk about it no more." He responded honestly.
Jon paused the game to turn to his cousin. "I know you don't want to but it's good to talk about it. That shit gon start coming out in other ways that won't be good for you or your relationship."
Zilla sat back on the sofa, inhaling and exhaling deeply. "Ion wanna make her sad with my sad shit. Especially when she gotta deal with her weird ass mama."
"Do you care if she tells you her sad shit?"
"No," he answered quickly.
"So why you think she care of you tell her your sad shit?"
He shrugged. "Don't know. Shit hard."
"I know but it's worth it. Start small then grow, you'll feel better. I'm telling you."
"I hear you."
"Yall got a six hour drive back, use some of that time to start."

The phone call with his ex-wife still fresh on his mind Hassan decided to reach out to someone he knew would understand his feelings and thoughts. He would always love Nadine but her actions would always have a wedge between them. He sat in his den with the football game on mute and the phone call on speaker.
"Did our children call you to be a referee?"
Hassan laughed loudly, "Nope, that is a job meant solely for you. Neither of them ever like my referee style. How are you, Leata?"
"I'm pretty good. How about you?"
"I uuuh," he thought rubbing through his beard, "I'm alright. Didi called me yesterday."
Leata laughed, "I'm sure that was fun. What is it about my son this time?"
"It was them both apparently," he chuckled, "Rye hasn't called her in three months and as a thank you Zilla told her about them getting busy on the sofa."
Unable to help herself, Leata laughed loudly into the phone.
"I'm sorry, I'm sorry. I know he shouldn't have but I'll be dammed if she didn't bring it in herself."
He laughed, "My thoughts exactly. But apparently that conversation gave her the urge to check on our babygirl. Although it's obvious that he's taken very good care of her."
She snorted. "That's obvious. She's going to visit them?"
"Ha! You know she's not going right now. She's wanting me to go."
"Awwee and you're gonna do it for your dear Didi," Leata joked.
"Negative," he answered jokingly, "I told her I would but I was already planning on going down there. I was calling to see when you were gonna visit."
"I'm not sure, I didn't wanna crowd them. Plus I was kind of hoping they'd come back for Thanksgiving or Christmas."
He hummed thinking, "Well Thanksgiving is next month so maybe they will. I can't wait that long or Didi will be up my ass. I'll probably go in the next couple weeks."
"She won't," she laughed, "She's too busy up Rye and Zilla's ass but okay. If they don't come for Thanksgiving, I'll probably go down there. If you wanna come down."
"That's no problem. Make sure you invite our favorite person."
Leata whistled. "Favorite is generous but of course. Moriah would never hear the end of it."
"Right. We'll talk soon. Call if you or our kids needs anything."
"Same to you, Hassan. Make sure you check on your Didi."
While Hassan and Leata spoke, Nadine was making a phone call of her own. She had spent most of the day before into the night doing searching until she found what she was looking for. The conversation with Zilla burned her up on the inside, he had beat her at her own game momentarily.
A deep baritone voice flowed through the line. "Hello."
"Well, well, Dr. Gardner. How are you?"
"I'm not doctor yet but I'm well. Who is this?"
"Nadine Parker. It's been a little while, Thomas. How's medical school?"
"Oh yes ma'am. It's been pretty good. How have you been? How's Moriah?"
Nadine smiled hearing his question. "I'm good. Moriah is fine, she moved out to Florida. She's working at Lakeland General now in the emergency department."
"Is she really?" He asked excitedly. "I'm in pediatrics there."
Nadine feigned surprise. "You do? Such a small world."
"I'll have to go down and see her. Is she single?"
Nadine groaned softly, "Unfortunately, she's not but I'm sure seeing you would make her come to her senses."
"Who is she's dating? Is he competition?"
She scoffed and laughed. "God, no. The jail bird could never compete with a doctor, son."
"Future doctor," he chuckled, "But noted. Do you when she works next?"
"Tomorrow, 7am to 7pm."
"Great, I'll be there tomorrow. Is she really with that felon?" He asked with a hint of laughter.
"Unfortunately she is. He's the one who moved her to Florida to wrestle of all things," she spat. "But it works out because you're there and you can show her the mistake she's made."
Thomas snorted, "Wrestling? I definitely have nothing to worry about, they drop like flies anyway. Thank you for calling me."
"Oh no, thank you, Thomas. You're saving my baby. Save my number and keep me updated."
"Yes ma'am. Have a good day."
"You too, son."
Happy with herself, Nadine did a little dance as she typed out a message to her daughter. The sun was going to start shining for her soon, all she had to do was be patient. Though she would have to suffer for a little bit longer, it would all be worth it to be rid of the man in her daughter's life.
Moriah's phone went off as they were leaving Jon and Trinity's neighborhood. The rest of their time visiting was spent with all four of them together, talking and playing. Their lives aren't bad in Orlando at all but it felt good to be with family for a few days as that's what they were used to.
"What's wrong?" Zilla asked seeing the frown on her face.
She shook her head. "Nothing, my mom texted me but it's weird."
"Weird how, Fat?"
"Ima read it to you," she responded still confused, "I love you guys. You both are gonna have an amazing day tomorrow. Call me after work, sweetheart."
It was Zilla's turn to frown. "That don't sound like Ms. Nadine. She either high, in distress or plottin."
"Exactly and knowing my mama, she's plotting." Moriah sat quietly thinking then groaned. "You don't think she's gonna pop up, do you? I'm not prepared for that."
He shrugged, "Ion know but if she does she can have the bedroom and we'll take the sofa."
Moriah pushed his shoulder, laughing. "Whatever you're about to say or thinking, just don't."
He laughed. "I wasn't gon say shit but I'm glad you and me on the same page. She better stay in the room if she don't wanna see Zilla and Fat gettin busy."
"Isayah Fatu! If she's in town, you're not getting any."
"Bullshit," he laughed, "If that makes you feel good to say but I know the truth, Fat."
"And what is the truth?"
Zilla looked at her from the road, a wide smile on her face. "Don't act like you don't know. Them nights that you stayed at home instead of with me, what happened most of the time?"
"Don't know what you're talking about, Fatu," she answered trying to keep her laugh in.
"You don't remember texting and calling me to come over after she went to sleep?"
"Nope, I didn't do that."
He laughed, "Oh you didn't? So you ain't call me poutin when I would tell you no? And I guess it wasn't you that sent me them videos either?"
She shook her head starting to laugh. "Nope, nope and nope. Wasn't me."
"You sure? I still got the videos," he grabbed for his phone and she snatched it laughing.
"Don't do that. I did not have sex with you in her house."
"You ain't sex with me in her house? Oh right cause I fucked you in her house. Got it."
Moriah covered her face laughing. "Fuckin hate you. You didn't have to say that. Filthy ass mouth."
"And you love it too. Don't you?" He asked in a lower tone.
She stared at the side of face. "I'm not doing this with you."
He put a hand on her bare thigh as he drove, squeezing. "Tell me you love it, Fat. Come on."
Looking between his hand and his face, Moriah scrunched her face playfully. "Fine, yes, I love it."
He hummed, "You love what?"
"Zay, no."
"Ima leave you alone when you tell me what I wanna hear."
She huffed softly, squirming in her seat. "I love your filthy ass mouth," she mumbled.
Smacking her thigh, he moved his hand back to the steering wheel, a smirk on his face. "That's my girl."
"You are a demon. Just 100% pure demon."
"Yeah and you like that shit too," he laughed.
The couple rode quietly for the next couple hours with Moriah going in and out of sleep. As he drove, Zilla thought about the conversation he had with Jon and tried to work out how to start the conversation.
"You have like a date or anything yet?"
"For my debut?" He paused got her answer. "Not yet. I got a meeting with Shawn tomorrow I think it is too talk about all that."
"Let me know so I can make sure I'm off and so I can make sure your family is there cause you'll forget."
He chuckled a bit. "Appreciate you."
"Are you excited?"
"Yeah but it's kinda fucking me up though."
Moriah listened quietly, giving her all of her attention.
"I'm excited but kinda sad too. My pops ain't ever missed nothin so I still expect him to be there," he explained keeping his eyes on the road, "And when I don't see him in the crowd or wherever I am, that shit gets me."
"Baby," she pouted as she reached over to rub the back of his neck, "He's not there physically but he's always there. You remember those pictures from your first match? The photographer was complaining and worried cause he thought you were gonna hate the pictures."
"Was he? Why? The pictures was dope." He asked glancing quickly at her.
"Yeah, because no matter what angle or where he moved that bright light was in every single picture." She laughed a little. "And when he was talking to me and your mom about it, your mom looked at the pictures, looked at him and was like it's just his dad, don't worry. So nonchalantly and she laughed with me saying how he was determined to be in your pictures."
Hearing that made him feel somewhat better, he remembered looking at the pictures thinking that same thing about the light but kept it to himself. Knowing that they thought the same thing let him know that he wasn't just trying to make that true.
"Damn," he smiled, "That's crazy. Sound like em though."
"It does. I know that you're still gonna scan the crowd for him, just know that he'll be there and he'll let you know. Hopefully it won't be a bright ass light all the time," she joked, "But either way, he's gonna show up for his baby boy."
He grabbed her hand, bringing it to his lips to kiss it then locked their fingers. "Thank you, Fat. I needed to hear that."
"Don't thank me for that, it's what I'm here for. I'm good for more than just cooking for you and getting busy, you know."
He laughed heartily, "Noted, baby. Ima remember that."
Tumblr media
After dropping Moriah at the hospital the next morning, Zilla went to the Performance Center instead of going home for a couple hours. Hardly anyone was there that time of morning which meant less people for him to talk to and more time to get a workout in. While he was walking on the treadmill, he felt a hand on his back and stopped the machine immediately. He snatched his headphones off then turned around with a dial on his face.
"My bad, man. I ain't mean no harm. Just wanted to come speak, that's all." The man explained. "Trick. Good to meet you."
Zilla nodded wiping his face with his towel. "Shit, you good. Nice to meet you too. Zilla."
Trick smiled a little, "You already know I know who you are. Ain't no need in acting like that, man."
He shrugged modestly. "I appreciate that but I'm just me, just Zilla."
"Whether you Zilla or just Zilla, we know you are and you better know that shit too. Especially around here."
Zilla squinted at his words. "What that mean?"
"Some of these people around here vicious is all I'm sayin."
"Mmm, I hear you."
"Listen I know we just met and you have no reason to believe me but I'm bein sincere," Trick told him sincerely, "Me and Melo dealt with it, shit a lotta good people went through it. Just tryna look out for you. From one man to another."
Zilla nodded, he was unsure about Trick and his words. They sounded sincere enough but in this world he could never be too sure.
"I gotta get to a meeting so ima move around."
Not waiting for a response, Zilla went to the locker room to change before his meeting and thirty minutes later he was sitting across from Shawn Michaels.
"I won't keep you long, I know you have stuff to do around here but we need to talk debut for a second. I like to involve talent in their storyline and for them to be comfortable with what they're doing," he explained clasping his hands, "When you're comfortable the work is times better. Understand?"
"Yes sir, I got you."
"Alright so that being said we were thinking the last week of November. Gives us all enough time to work things out. Does that sound good to you or do you need more time?"
"Nah, that's good. I can do that."
"We think you'd work great as heel unless you think face is something you wanna try," Shawn paused, "Booker thinks highly of you as heel though."
Zilla shook his head, "Heel. I like being heel. It's fun for me bein like that."
Shawn nodded, writing a few things down. "Alright, heel it is. I'm gonna get with Hunter and Paul to come up with a little something for you but we also want you to come up with something too to bring to us. All of our resources are open to you, talk to your cousins I'm sure they'll help you out. I can put you in touch with some other guys that wouldn't mind helping you either."
He nodded thinking it over. "Alright, I'll let you know if I need em."
"You have a week before you meet with myself, Paul and Hunter. So don't wait too long."
Tumblr media
"What's wrong, baby? They said it was an emergency. Are you hurt?"
As soon as the charge nurse told Moriah it was an important phone call from Zilla, her heart was in her throat. The few feet to the phone felt like miles because her mind had automatically went to the worst.
"Nothin wrong, I'm not hurt, Fat. Breathe, baby." He assured calmly.
"Toni said you said it was an emergency. What is it?" She asked still stressing.
He chuckled, "Its a emergency but not a bad one. I promise."
"Zay," she sighed trying to calm herself and her nerves "Don't scare me like that."
"My bad, baby. She just wasn't tryna give you the phone and I needed to talk to my baby. It's important."
She exhaled on a chuckle. "Start talking and hurry up, fool."
"Zilla got his debut date, baby!"
Moriah squealed alerting few of the doctors and nurses around her including Toni. She whispered an apology.
"When? When? I'm gonna take off for it right now."
"Tuesday after Thanksgiving! They gon keep me heel too."
Moriah teared up a little but quickly wiped her tears away. "I'll be there in the front row with my sign. I'm happy for you, Zay."
"That make me feel good. Thank you, Fat."
"You're welcome. I'm taking you out to celebrate my first day off. Somewhere special." She said softly.
He chuckled. "Word? I'm lookin forward to it."
"Good but I gotta go. I'll see you when you get here and do not block the door again."
"You need curbside service though," he laughed, "Don't work too hard. Zilla love you."
"Moriah loves you more, Zilla."
After she hung up, Toni came to stand to her left with a knowing smile on her face. Toni had been extremely welcoming to her and friendly since her first day. She was older than Moriah but it didn't bother them.
"From the squealing and the smile on your face, am I to assume that there was nothing wrong?" She asked in a hushed tone.
Moriah giggled. "Maybe."
"Uhuh so what did Mr. Man want? Did he interrupt my ED to say he was thinking about you?" She joked.
"Noo," Moriah sung out, "He got some good news and wants to share it with his baby."
"What was it?"
Moriah smirked playfully. "I would tell you but don't wanna interrupt your ED even more."
"You're on my list, DeBreaux."
Moriah laughed going towards the room, she heard her name being called.
After her shift, Moriah gathered her things then went to the nurses station to talk to Toni. She was wasting time since Zilla was running a few minutes behind. She didn't mind as she knew he spent a little more time at the PC to talk to Booker.
"What are you getting into tonight?"
"Nothing at all since I gotta be back here in the morning. Pick dinner up, eat, and fall asleep to whatever movie we pick out." Moriah laughed.
Toni rolled her eyes playfully. "You are such a old woman. Why don't you and Mr. Man go out?"
She shook her head. "Cause I know he's tired from training plus he's grumpy when he's tired."
"He grumpy or you're grumpy?"
"Who's side are you on?" She asked jokingly. "We are gonna go out when I'm off though. Gonna take my man on a date."
"Ooooh a date, huh? Should I get the pregnancy tests ready?"
"Absolutely not ma'am. No babies, not right now. But what you can do is go ahead and approve my day off."
"It's not even November yet, Moriah," she laughed, "Hell, we ain't even hit October yet."
Moriah pouted at her. "It'll be October in a few days but pleeeease. I wanna make sure I'm off and I'm there. Oooh I got an idea."
Toni folded her arms, laughing at her younger coworker. "What's your plan?"
"You should take off too and come with me."
"To a wrestling show? No ma'am plus I'm not gonna be in town." Toni laughed at her pout. "Dr. Miller coming in hot."
Before Moriah could say anything, Dr. Miller was standing right next to her prompting her to take a step over. She smiled politely.
"You heading out, Moriah?"
She looked at her bag and purse,  making Toni laugh softly, then back at the doctor. "Yup, I am."
He laughed a little. "I didn't notice your bag and stuff, I'm about to head out too. Been a long day."
Moriah nodded slowly and looked to Toni for help, who just shook her head laughing.
"Right so I was thinking um," he trailed off trying to find his words and nerves again.
While Toni and Moriah waited for him to spit it out, Zilla walked into the ED. He had been calling his girlfriend with no answer so came in to check on her. His face scrunched when he laid eyes on her and saw the doctor standing close to her. Waiting for a few nurses and patients to pass in front of him, he approached his girlfriend from behind and slid his hand around her neck to her throat, gently leaning her head back. He kissed her lips a few times before letting her go, allowing his hand to rest on her waist.
"You okay?" She asked looking at him.
He nodded, sizing Dr. Miller up. "I'm straight. You ain't answer so I came to make sure you was aight."
Toni covered her laugh watching the scene unfold in front of her. Moriah checked her phone seeing the missed calls.
"Oh I'm sorry, babe. I was talking to Toni and then Dr. Miller came up. Which let me not be rude … babe, this is the charge nurse, Toni and this is Dr. Miller," she said sweetly, "Yall this is my boyfriend, Zilla."
Toni stuck her hand out to Zilla still laughing, "Finally I get to meet Mr. Man who interrupted my ED."
"My bad, Toni," he laughed, "Ima do it again though."
Toni laughed. "For your sake it better not be a real emergency cause I'm not giving her the phone again. Dr. Miller, don't be rude. Speak."
Dr. Miller looked between all three, actively tryna avoid the scowl on Zilla's face. "Not ride, just didn't wanna interrupt. Nice to meet you. Zilla is it?"
Zilla tilted his head a little. "That's what I said, uce."
Moriah glared at Toni, who kept laughing. "Okay so yall have a good night. Let's go, babe."
"Wait, wait," Toni called out reaching across the station to grab Moriah's arm as she tried to go, "Don't you remember that Dr. Miller was about to tell you what he was thinking. Go head, Dr. Miller. Tell Moriah."
He scratched the back of his neck, "Oh I uh I was just gonna see if Moriah wanted to get a drink with me to relax after work. As uh as … as co-workers."
Moriah mouthed to Toni that she was gonna hurt her as Toni continued to laugh while Zilla held Dr. Miller's stare, silently daring him to look away.
"She good, uce. I got all the relaxation she need. Come on, Fat."
Moriah waved to them before leaving. When they got to their car, Zilla helped her in before going to the driver side. She watched him as he drove, a slight frown on her face that made him laugh.
"You always watchin me, man? What you want?"
She pushed his arm, "You know what. Why you do that?"
"Do what? Come check on you?" He laughed. "I was being a good boyfriend."
"By scaring that poor man. He was so nervous, Zay."
"Good, he should be. He was too close to you. Talkin bout gettin a drink, fuck outta here." He fussed as he sped through traffic. "Thought you was gon go for that? Naaah, not my Fat."
A smile slowly made its way onto her face, she poked at his face. He swatted her hand away.
"Chill with that."
She kept going. "Is my Zilla jealous? Is that what I hear?"
"Ain't nobody jealous."
"Mmmm … you felt some type of way. You've never seen anybody flirt with me? Not since you been out." She teased.
He looked over at her for a moment not saying anything.
"Its okay, I kinda liked seeing you like that. Plus Dr. Miller is a lot. I've been turning him down for the last month."
"Let me know if he bother you again."
Moriah giggled. "Yes sir."
"Aight now, you enjoyin it a little too much, Fat." He chuckled.
She shrugged playfully. "After dinner are we calling your mom or did you already call?"
"I wasn't gon call her without you. She'd be mad if I did that anyway, whenever I talk to her she stay askin if I checked on you and if you got what you need."
"Yup cause I'm her favorite, not you."
"If it wasn't for me, yall wouldn't even know each other," he exclaimed playfully.
"Oooh the jealously bug just bit you up today, huh?"
"Since you got jokes, you gon be at work tomorrow with bites."
She stopped laughing. "Wait, that's my funny. Don't do that."
"Ooooh it ain't funny no more, Fat?" He laughed.
"Noooo. Last time you did that, I had bites everywhere when I met your grandma. And my mama thought you was beating me up."
"Shit, I was just not in the way she was thinking. But that was your fault cause you thought you was funny. I'm funnier though, Fat."
She folded her arms, pouting. "What if I say sorry?"
"Too late for that, babygirl. Just prepare yourself."

Thomas got off the elevator a quarter pass seven, making a beeline for the emergency department. One of the patients he was helping with needed assistance so he wasn't able to leave in time. Making it to the nurses station, he went to Toni.
"What do you need, Thomas?" She asked not looking up from her paperwork.
He looked around as he spoke. "Nurse DeBreaux, is she here?"
"No, she's not," she answered now looking at him, "Why are you looking for her? There are plenty of nurses in Pediatrics where you are assigned."
"I needed to ask her a question about a patient that was in the ED," he lied quickly, "It's not an emergency. When does she work again?"
"I can call her for you, Thomas."
"No, just tell me when she works. I'll come back."
Toni hummed. "Tomorrow at 7am."
"Thank you, Toni. I owe you."
"Uhuh, don't get yourself into any trouble now."
He flashed her a quick smile before leaving. Toni sat with the interaction for a moment, replaying it in her head. Something felt weird to her but she brushed it off.

Love Makes a Family (Ona Batlle x Reader)
Summary: Reader's dad passes away and Ona goes back to Spain for the funeral
I wrote it quickly and didn't really proof it. Some days I just can't do the little things and that's okay.
Tumblr media
“Hi, love. How are you?” Ona asked, her voice cheerful as she sipped her morning coffee.
“My dad died,” you choked out. You were surprised you were able to say it out loud. “I need you.”
Ona took the first flight out of Manchester and landed in Barcelona before the end of the day. You and Ona had come up in La Masía together. Ona spent every weekend at home with your family. She called your dad "papa."
No one in the family knew that your friendship had transformed into love except your dad. You’d wanted to wait a bit before telling anyone else. Your dad had been sick for a while and you'd known the end was coming. Ona texted you when she was close to your parent's, your mom's, house and you went down to the front door of the building to wait for her.
She hastily got out of the car, letting her bag drop on the doorstep so she could pull you into her. Your throat tightened and the tears immediately started falling again. You clung to her, barely registering the tight grip she had on you to hold you upright.
"It's alright, my love. Let it out." The two of you held each other there for another minute before you heard your brother calling for you.
Stepping back, you took in Ona's face. Her eyes were red and her face splotchy. Lifting your hands to her cheeks, you kissed her softly. "How are you doing?"
"I'll be fine." She brought your hand to her lips. "We'll be fine. I want to see mama now."
"She's in her bedroom. She won't come out." Ona put a hand on your back as you walked up the stairs to the second floor apartment.
"Oni, I didn't know you were coming," your brother said when you walked in with Ona. He walked over to hug her. You could hear them whispering to each other quietly. Their relationship had always been a comfort to you. You brother didn't like many people but he loved Ona.
You let her go to see your mom alone. She hadn't said much to you since the doctor's had come out to say he was gone. Each time you'd gone in to check on her, she had been sitting on the edge of the bed, staring blankly out the bedroom window.
The sob you heard escape the bedroom surprised you. It was the first time she had cried out loud. You exchanged a look with your brother. Of course it would be Ona's shoulder your mother would finally cry on. Hearing it brought a fresh round of tears for both of you.
If you weren't so filled with emptiness, you might've felt love for the woman fill your body.
She came out nearly an hour later, her shirt slightly darker on the shoulder where tears had soaked in. She came to you in the kitchen, standing next to you and letting your arms touch. You'd always been comfortable touching each other in front of your family but Ona was feeling the need to not overstep anything right now. Various family members had come while she'd been in the bedroom and were standing around the kitchen and living room.
"What do you want to eat?" she asked quietly. "I'll go get anything you want."
You smiled at her. "A couple of the girls are bringing food over. But I'm not hungry." Resting your chin on her shoulder, you wrapped an arm around her waist. "Did she say anything?"
"Only that she was glad we were all here. I think it's just starting to sink in."
"How are you doing?"
"I'm here with you guys. That's what I need right now. I'll be okay."
"Mi prima." Turning, you saw Leila come in with Patri and Aitana in tow. Each carried a bag of food that they set on the counter before pulling you both into a group hug. You were happy Leila could come for Ona because they had always been very close. Ona could lean on Leila if she needed someone besides you or your brother.
Patri took your face in her hands and kissed your cheek. "Hola, bebe. How are you holding up?"
"I'm okay. Worried about my mom, though. She hasn’t come out of her room since we got home."
"I'll take her something to eat," Aitana offered. She fixed a plate and left the kitchen.
"When was the last time either of you ate?" Leila asked. She stood with her arm around Ona's shoulders, looking between the two of you. Ona looked at you.
"I, I don't remember," you admitted.
"I had a coffee this morning."
"Alright, food for both of you, too. Let's go." She squeezed Ona's shoulder before letting her go to get two plates. She handed one to each of you and gestured towards the food Aitana had taken out of the bags. "Come on, you have to eat. I'll get your brother, too." She nodded at Patri to take over and left to find him.
Ona nudged you forward. You really did not feel like eating anything. The thought of food was making you sick. "I don't want anything."
"I don't either," she admitted. "But maybe we should eat a little bit. I can't tell if I'm feeling sick from the thought of eating or because I haven't eaten in so long." She was always so in sync with you. You should've known she'd be feeling the same way. As if she read your thoughts, she said, "It's okay, babe."
"Babe?" Patri muttered. "Interesting development." You saw Ona shove her and felt the first genuine smile forming on your face.
"Not the time or place, Guijarro." Ona stepped up to the counter next to you and you felt her take a sharp intake of breath. "He, um," she started after a few seconds, "he taught me how to make this. We made it together all the time."
She tried to wipe the tears away quickly but you saw her. Tossing your plate on the counter, you wrapped both arms around her shoulders, holding her shaking body to yours. Patri came up and wrapped an arm around each of you, resting her forehead against yours.
Over the next couple days, small things would set off a fresh stream of tears. A phrase used. A food. A scent. A memory. A song. Your papa was a man who loved everyone and everyone who stopped by had a story to tell about him.
You and Ona and your brother leaned on each other when you needed to. Ona did eventually coax your mom out of her bedroom. Being with the family and the friends who stopped in seemed to help her settle. She still wasn't talking much but at least she had a small smile on her face.
The morning of the funeral, you dressed quietly with Ona. She closed the zipper of your dress and left a small kiss on your shoulder. You helped her pin her hair back. Before leaving your room, you gave her a kiss on the cheek and squeezed her hand.
"I know you'd be here regardless of my asking, but thank you for being here. I don't know if I'd have gotten through this week without you. We needed you."
"And I needed all of you."
Everything for the funeral ran smoothly. As smoothly as a funeral could go, at least. It wasn’t until you began organizing everyone to walk behind the casket out to the burial site that your uncle stepped up, blocking your way. Or Ona's way specifically.
"Ona, you have to go to the back. We want the family to be up here in the front."
Your hand tightened on hers. "She is family," you answered.
"Y/N, it's okay," Ona whispered. "I'll let your cousins come up here. I'll come behind them."
"It's not okay. He was your dad, too."
"What's going on?" you brother asked, stepping up next to your uncle. The entire funeral had stopped for this conversation.
"I need Ona to go to the back and let the family come through first."
Upon hearing this, your brother immediately turned around to stand next to Ona and put an arm around her shoulders. "She's exactly where she should be. Now can we please proceed?"
"Look, kids, I'm sorry, but sometimes you have to do things a proper way."
"She's not going anywhere." Ona's hand tightened on yours. You looked at her and could see her eyes had filled with tears again. "Tio, just let us be," you begged, wrapping an arm around Ona's shoulder and pulling her close to your side. Your mom appeared beside you, rubbing a hand on your arm.
"¿Está todo bien?"
"No, mama. Tio wants Ona to go to the back, behind the family." You'd never seen your mom get angry so fast. Her entire face changed from that of complete devastation and exhaustion to horrified and mad in a split second.
Moving in front of you and Ona, she stood facing your uncle. "My children will all walk right behind their father. That's it."
"But Ona is - "
"Ona is ours. Blood doesn't make a family. Love does. We love her like she's ours. They'll all walk with me." Her voice left no room for discussion.
"As you wish." He stepped aside, letting the four of you pass. You'd always gotten along with your uncle but you knew this moment was going to take you a while to get over.
Ona clung to your tightly for the remainder of the day. You knew that discussion had hurt her, despite how possessive your mom and brother had been over her. While she was already feeling raw from papa's death, someone had come in and tried to take the rest of the family from her. Words would never be enough to repair the damage that had caused.
In the evening, as the entire family filled your mom's apartment, you and Ona sat quietly on the couch. Your arm was around her, your fingers gently running up and down her arm. Her head rested on your shoulder and your cheek rested on her head. Her hand covered yours over her knee.
"Love makes a family," you whispered. Your mom's words had been swirling in your head all evening. You couldn't get them out.
"Hmm?" she asked, not lifting her head.
"Love makes a family," you repeated. You nudged her so she'd look up at you. "Papa told me something a couple weeks before he died. He said to take care of mom. Obviously. And he told me not to wait too long to make you officially part of this family." You cupped her cheek. "We don't break promises to papa."
"No, we don't." She smiled, leaning into you to rest her forehead against yours. "I love you," she whispered.
"You're ours, Ona. No matter what anyone says. We're family. Always."

what the FUCK do you mean you wrote two of the best prototype fics AND drew some of the best art. illegal
seriously though i am in love with your characterisation, especially of all three mercer siblings. frankly your version of dr mercer is the best ive seen in the entire fandom lmao
Thank you! I'm really glad you're enjoying that terrible bastard of a man. Dr. Mercer enjoyers unite. We love this evil skinny twink
Thoughts about Mercer sibling characterization + themes of the game (under a cut because it's VERY LONG):
The thing I try to stress when writing Doc Mercer (hereto referred to as "Xander") is that yes, he is a narcissistic, vain, arrogant bastard of a man, generally irredeemable, with extremely loose and/or nonexistent morals and a terrible personality.
However, [PROTOTYPE] is a game where most of the characters are some level of fucking awful and monstrous, but their motivations are still explored, and sometimes even still justified. I mean, Alex eats people. Randall was on his way to nuke Manhattan. Blackwatch regularly laughs at being able to murder innocent civilians. A powerful moment in some of the WOI's is Blackwatch gleefully discussing killing people, while the visuals show a camp on a rooftop where the survivors have written a big "NOT INFECTED" in a bid to not be murdered by Blackwatch.
Still, there's nuance there. Alex may grow a conscience and save New York, but he's still, you know, a walking viral apocalypse that both eats people and enjoys it/thinks it feels "right." Blackwatch murders all the people they want, but at the end of the day, they ARE the line that stands between humanity and viral apocalypse. And Randall might even be justified in nuking Manhattan if it means taking Alex out, because - you know - walking viral apocalypse (and for all Randall knows, ZEUS only killed Elizabeth to establish his dominance as hive queen supreme). I don't see why Doc Mercer should be exempt from that nuance, but he so very often is.
So that as my starting point, what do we know about Doc Mercer? Well, mostly from the PRIMA guide, we have his backstory. This backstory is so hilariously awful that I legitimately don't think I'd believe you if you told me he wasn't supposed to be sympathetic.
Xander's mom is thrown in jail right after he's born, no other family is willing/able to take him in, so he's thrust into the foster care system (no father is EVER mentioned, ever)
To make matters worse, Dana's bio mentions that she moved "to New York" to follow her brother, implying that they aren't NY-born, which further implies that they're from NEW FUCKING JERSEY LOL (it's only like, an hour's bus away from Columbia U, where Xander went to college)
Xander is kicked around foster care system like a hot potato until mom is released from jail. Seems like she either got pregnant right at the end of her stint, or right as she got out; he's 10 when she regains custody of him, but 9 when Dana is born.
Dana's bio says "[Xander] was the only parent figure Dana ever knew." It also said their mother had "drinking problems." Xander raised Dana to the degree that she literally doesn't even see her mom as a parent.
"For [Xander], foster care was better." Yikes. That's definitely an implication of abuse (if the parentification weren't enough). What kind of abuse? Well, they're often bundled together, but we can make a Strong Case for extreme violence at minimum, given the following:
What was mom in jail for? A 9-year sentence implies a second-degree crime, which, uh... take your pick: aggravated assault, aggravated arson, theft of an item more than 75k$, armed burglary or burglary that results in injury or threats of injury, unlawful possession of a firearm, sexual assault. Yikes
Bio outright describes it as living in "abject poverty," so with the fact that he was LITERALLY the only parent Dana knew (a role he was forced into starting at the age of TEN), as soon as he was legally able, he probably had to take on a job in addition to school and childrearing.
Given the "abject poverty" angle, I find it doubtful that he was able to leave home until he graduated, especially given that a commute from Jersey to Columbia U could be as short as an hour. Since he graduated from his PhD at the age of 24, that means he was Dana's parent until she was fifteen. 3/4 of her life by the time of the game.
Needs to be stressed: this man changed her diapers, warmed up her formula, cooked meals for her, helped her with homework, taught her sex-ed and what puberty was, helped her get her first job, taught her how to apply for college. He is, for all intents and purposes, Dana's father. (Put a pin in that!)
Like... holy shit! This is a sympathetic character! I don't know how anyone would be able to read that in isolation and not feel bad for this guy. I mean, this is a person who has literally ALL the trauma. Like, he's in the 99th percentile of worst childhoods in America. This boy has collected PTSDs like they are pokemon.
The PRIMA guide literally says that, at the end of all that, he "trusted no one, had no friends, cared less and less what others thought of him," and was an "impatient, dark, tortured person" with a history of burning bridges. "Forever paranoid," "morally ambiguous," and "teetering on the border of sociopathy" are also used to describe him, and - yeah, of course! I mean, did you SEE his backstory? Holy shit.
And what really fascinates me about this is that, even under those circumstances? He was probably the best parent he could have been to Dana. She literally sees him as one, stuck around NYC for five years because he was just that important to her, and trusts and cares for him so deeply that she's willing to risk her life for him/willing to forgive Alex ranting about how eating people "feels right."
Some people argue that he was using Dana as a pawn, or manipulating her, etc. etc., and I really dislike this take (though, of course, everyone's entitled to their own HCs etc., especially because a lot of the PRIMA stuff was clearly rewritten by the time of the game's release). First, I think that a working college girl with a fiery personality like Dana would not have stuck around for FIVE YEARS if she didn't feel like Xander deserved it - and given that he was also ghosting her for those five years, any manipulation he had her under would have worn off. Like, it's REALLY HARD to gatekeep gaslight girlboss someone if you're no-contact with them. Also, are you trying to tell me that an eleven-year-old boy was looking at a literal 2 year old going "yes... I will raise her to trust me absolutely... as a tool for me to use in the future... and then completely ignore her calls for 5 years!" C'mon.
But the second, and more important, reason I don't agree with that take is that I feel like it strips Dana of agency and reduces her to this almost damsel-like role. Nah, man, even if Xander was not her brother/dad, she would have risked her life to help him out. Why? Because she's a fucking anarcho-socialist journalism student, that's why!
Her PRIMA bio is really interesting in that regard; I feel like the game didn't show off well enough just how awesome Dana actually is. She's studying journalism at NYU. You may have heard that her job is "writing tabloids," but that's such a simplification/misunderstanding of the text! We actually have the titles of the publications she writes for, and they are: "Everything You Know Is Wrong", "Bathsheba", and "The Military/Industrial Complex Report." Even just from that small glimpse (and the fact that she calls Blackwatch "goose-stepping motherfuckers"), I think it's evident that she's got some deeply anti-government, anti-military, anti-fascist beliefs.
Furthermore, Dana is like... kind of a terrible person. Here's a great excerpt from her bio that I feel like isn't talked about enough (emphasis mine):
"She owes money all over town, and somehow manages to sweet talk friends into lending her more. She's a hustler, good at manipulating people. Like her brother, she's narcissistic and evasive. When she doesn't like someone she'll go out of her way to make sure they know it - particularly if they push the point. She's disrespectful, foul-mouthed, and not afraid of a fight. This all serves her well when she's neck-deep in a story, but in real life, her kind of behavior only makes her one thing: enemies. In short, she's her brother's sister."
Guys, I am not normal about that last sentence. It's phrased the same way as "she's her mother's daughter" or "she's her father's son." Like. Oh my god, Xander is basically her dad.
But back on topic: Dana is characterized as a BADASS BITCH who doesn't take shit from ANYBODY and is ALREADY anti-government. She literally calls the Blackwatch shit "the story of the century." She would have taken that case on even if it weren't her brother presenting it to her, no manipulation necessary.
AND she knew the risks. I've seen it argued that Xander's to blame for "tricking" her into investigating something that put her life in danger, but I think that's unfair to him. First, I think Blackwatch would've investigated and/or disappeared Dana either way, given how trigger-happy they are. Second, she knew the risks - that's why she was using her friend's penthouse apartment as a safehouse. She was prepared to risk her life for this story; BW just moved faster than she anticipated and ambushed her at her apartment.
(And, also, like, just as an aside, we don't know if she had permission to be in her friend's place, and given her PRIMA bio, she probably didn't, like she just full-on broke into her friend's really nice apartment LOL probably even chose the friend with the nicest digs LOL)
This also serves as such an interesting glimpse into not only her and her brother's relationship, but her brother's characterization. We already know that Xander possesses good social skills to some degree, given that he has a girlfriend who was willing to risk her life for him (she went back to the lab to get something for him, which is how she got caught - let's ignore for now the ethics of dating his subordinate); he also climbed the ranks at his job, rising to Associate Director (McMullen's direct subordinate) sometime within only five years.
Dana's bio, however, confirms it. Every description of her personality becomes associated with Xander with the phrase "she's her brother's sister." Xander is a hustler; he's manipulative and gets people to do what he wants. Xander is evasive, disrespectful, and lets people feel it when he doesn't like them. Xander makes enemies. BUT.
Even in the midst of all that - his paranoia, the fact that he's having a freak-out because his coworkers are being "silenced," and that he ghosted Dana for five years in an effort to leave the past behind him... who does he trust to have his back? Dana. I need you guys to understand. He doesn't go to Dana because she's an easy tool for him to manipulate. He goes to Dana because he's scared for his life and she is the only person he trusts. I think there's a reason Alex latches onto her when he learns she exists, and part of it is definitely because the scaffold he's built on, the original Dr. Mercer, viewed Dana as unconditionally trustworthy. The feeling is mutual.
And just in case you needed some sort of in-game proof? He has at LEAST two photos of Dana on his foyer wall. Legit. Go back and rewatch that cutscene when Alex walks into Xander's apartment. He has 2-3 photos of Karen... and 2-3 photos of Dana. He's been ghosting Dana, but he keeps photos of her on his wall, where he sees them every day, right next to where he works. One of the Dana photos is also the only photo that Xander is not in. I just... he loves his sister. He's just too mentally ill to be normal about it and keep in contact.
So, we have here pretty much Xander's ONLY redeeming quality: cares about his sister! That's it. That's all he's got. Let's talk about some other irredeemable stuff.
So far, I've talked a lot about the PRIMA guide, but now I'm going to talk about what's in the actual game, because it's quite interesting, and I don't think all of it made it into the fandom zeitgeist. It's too bad, because this one major fact really adds a shitton of nuance to this character:
Xander was out of the loop.
Xander did not know anything about Hope, Idaho. Xander did not know that Blackwatch existed. Xander didn't even fucking know that his human test subjects were deliberately infected. Within day one, Alex knows more about the conspiracy surrounding Blacklight than Xander ever did. And we know exactly how much he knew about the virus because he mailed Dana a laptop containing everything he was able to find, and it pretty much got as far as "MOTHER is named Elizabeth Greene" and "Hope, Idaho existed...?" We have a WOI where Randall expresses concern over even giving Xander access to MOTHER, and a WOI where Xander is pissed the hell off when he finds out that their human subjects were not naturally infected. He didn't know!
That suddenly casts his role in Blacklight's production in a much less nefarious light. Look at this job from Xander's point of view: You're a 24 year old who completed an 8-year college run (undergrad and PhD) in six years, WHILE raising a teenage girl and probably while working, too. At graduation, you get offered this insanely cushy job, with a threat that you'll be blacklisted from the industry if you refuse (this literally happened to Dr. Ragland, according to his PRIMA bio). It's a top-secret government job. The government's not great, but you have loose morals, and it can't possibly be worse than Albert Einstein building the atom bomb. So. Whatever.
(On top of that, they're already lying to you abour what the project's purpose is. Xander states he "didn't know" what he was working on until he "figured it out," and there's a WOI where one employee raves that the virus could be used to cure every disease on earth. It seems there was a general vibe that they were probably working bio-weapons, but no one knew FOR SURE, and a contributor to Xander's meltdown is the fact that his research results just... vanish. He doesn't know what they're being used for.)
Plus, holy shit, the pay. Xander is making, like, seven figures by the time he's 29. He lives in an apartment on the Upper East Side (where Gossip Girl takes place lol). The average price for a one-bedroom there is, like, 4000$ a month. This man spent 24 years in brutal poverty; the money matters to him.
On top of that, the stuff they're doing at GENTEK? Of course, it's stomach-turning, but it wouldn't clock as inherently unethical. Xander's fury at learning that MOTHER was a test subject, and not naturally infected (as he's been led to believe), implies that they were NOT infecting people at GENTEK. The bodies we see in WOI, their test subjects, were already infected by the time they got there, supplied to GENTEK with a cover story, that the virus was one they'd found naturally, and that these people - whose brains were fried by the virus - were just unlucky victims of random happenstance. Furthermore, making viruses more dangerous is legitimate virology. It's called "gain-of-function" experimentation, and while it is controversial (for obvious reasons), it's still something you would potentially be doing at an above-board lab.
That means that, prior to Penn Station, the worst Xander can be accused of is being a bootlicker, class traitor, who knowingly worked on WMDs for the US government. And yeah, that is monstrously evil, and Albert Einstein is a monster by that metric, but it's a level of evil that's matched or surpassed by almost every other character in the game. Dana and Ragland are the two exceptions, maybe Karen too, depending on whether you think her low hierarchical position absolves her of any sin. McMullen and everyone at Blackwatch are all more culpable than Xander. They're the ones giving him orders - he's the low man on the totem pole!
And his reaction upon realizing how deep the rabbit hole goes? It's not asking to join up with the evil side. It's not going out to do a terrorism (even if that's how it ends up). It's blowing the whistle. His first instinct is to go to his sister, the anti-government, anti-military journalism student. And as he spirals into panic and anxiety, it's to escape the city, while warning someone - probably Dana - to "get out of there". Even McMullen says, when Alex confronts him, "you were always so smart. You were ready to give up all our secrets. [...] We were trying to figure it out -- you just wanted to bring it all down." The class traitor was about to redeem himself. His motivations might still be selfish - to punish the people who lied to him, to save his own ass - but he's not a cartoon villain.
It's only after he's cornered, staring down guns, realizing that all his efforts were futile, possibly even realizing that Dana is next, that he smashes the vial. AND EVEN THEN... I think we're supposed to understand why he did it. Not sympathize, necessarily, but... look at his life. Abandonment, abuse, parentification. Skipping meals to make sure Dana can eat. Running on a sleep deficit because homework has to be done after helping Dana with hers after coming home from work after going to school. His wealth and girlfriend are hollow victories when he can't trust people enough to make friends. He loves his sister, enough to keep her photos on his foyer wall, but can't bear engaging with her as an adult on equal footing. He thought he'd finally caught a break, only for it to turn out to be a death trap from the start. Yes, choosing to smash the vial was an irredeemable action, a selfish, vindictive, and evil choice; however, I don't think he could have chosen differently. Dr. Mercer was not necessarily intended to be a sympathetic character (although he was), but he was certainly, bare-minimum, intended to be a tragic one.
It seems like the game went through several rewrites, and those rewrites confuse a pretty major plot beat: does the virus Xander releases at Penn Station burn itself out, or does it go on to become the main virus on the streets of Manhattan? This question, and where you personally fall on it, is really important. And that's because... if the virus burns itself out in Penn Station (which apparently the writer confirmed on Twitter, but there's evidence in the game to suggest the opposite), then that means Xander has one of the lowest body counts in the game.
Yeah, you heard me. Let's say the virus burns itself out in Penn Station. How many people would that even be? A few thousand? In 2009, Penn Station served about 300,000 people per day. That is really busy, but obviously, not all of those people - or even a majority of those people - are going to be in the station at any given time. It's probably a number around four digits. Um, how many people does Alex kill over the course of the game, again? Obviously, the in-game kill counts can't exactly be trusted, because you can rack up millions depending on how much you fuck around, but it's generally agreed that he's in the tens of thousands, between all the military bases he destroys, civilians he eats, and soldiers he cuts through. Randall has been confirmed to have ordered the glassing of both Hope, Idaho, AND Two Bluff, Arizona, with an attempt on Manhattan. (Cross also mentions a Kentucky in one of the cut lines, implying there's more cities and casualties than we even know about.) There are 1.6 million people living in Manhattan in 2009, so Randall was about to kill, like, a thousand times more people than Xander.
It also means he never put Dana in danger. If it's a virus that burns out on its own, he - the person whose work was "years ahead of his nearest competitor" - would know that it wouldn't reach her. And it would make sense if it burns out, too, because it's a bio-weapon. Not a great bio-weapon if it causes a a whole-ass apocalypse! And I also don't think it's fair to blame Xander for Alex letting Elizabeth Greene out of her cage, because by that point, 1) Xander is dead, 2) Dana sent Alex there, 3) Alex is a fully sapient and independent being who is not under Xander's orders because Xander is dead. I mention this because I've literally run into people who believe that the virus burned itself out at Penn Station, BUT ALSO that Xander releasing the vial directly put Dana in danger of infection AND that Elly's rampage is somehow his fault. You can't have it both ways!
That's actually why I don't believe that the virus burned itself out. Narratively and thematically, it's much better if Xander did release his virus knowing that it might cause a full-on apocalypse. That does make it so that he risked his sister's life (although you can argue that he figured she was as good as dead, anyways, given that they'd tracked him down - I don't, since I think he was too busy panicking and being sleep-deprived to be thinking about that), and it DOES make the entire ensuing tragedy his fault. And the reason that this is important is because of Xander's role as a "father" to Alex.
Here's something else that's important to note, which I often see overlooked: Alex places the blame on the shoulders of Randall, not Xander. "You bastard," he says after he's eaten Randall. "You could have stopped all this - you let it happen." Meanwhile, here's what he actually says about Xander: "what Mercer did is beyond forgiveness," and at the end of the game, "Alex Mercer. This city suffered for his mistakes, for what he did at Penn Station. And whoever he was - that's a part of me." We aren't supposed to think he's unilaterally evil without nuance. Pretty much everyone, Alex included, has done things "beyond forgiveness" in this game. We're instead supposed to ponder what it means to be derived from his stock.
What is Alex's characterization? To be frank, Alex is a dumbass baby. I know that this is not necessarily popular, but I genuinely believe that it's intentional. There are literally cut lines from the very first mission that REALLY drive home that this poor guy has NO IDEA what's going on. Begging people to stop shooting at him, thinking to himself "where's a place with a lot of people?" (honey, you're in NYC), and generally going "what was that? how did this happen? what's going on? what? huh? what?"
There's also needing Ragland to suggest to him the novel idea of breaking both spines on the leader hunters, and following Phone Voice into a death trap, and then still listening to Phone Voice a second time, not to mention how awkwardly he shrugs his way out of Karen Parker's hug, or how he's constantly pushing himself all the way into Dana's personal space/startling her/disappearing while no one's watching. There's a point where his brilliant plan for getting McMullen to land is to disable some infection detectors... while standing ankle-deep in biomass... looking up at McMullen. He's just, ah, ehm... not the sharpest tool in the shed. If you replay the game with that in mind, it... yeah. I mean. His first instinct upon being attacked by helicopters is to go up onto the roof of a building, where he is surprised by... more helicopters. Who left this child unattended? Where are your guardians.
I know I'm exaggerating - Alex does show remarkable flexibility and adaptability and on-the-fly problem-solving sometimes - but when the PRIMA bios and McMullen repeatedly stress that Xander is clever, manipulative, a schemer, a hustler, "so smart," it really highlights how... straightforward Alex is in comparison. You cannot tell me that Alex, as he's presented in-game, is "a lateral thinker - plans within plans."
And the interesting thing is, this actually seems like a fairly late-stage change! The original PRIMA guide blurb for "The Prototype" seems to suggest that he is actually an amnesiatic Dr. Mercer, not a wholly separate entity. It goes on and on about how "The Prototype" is cool, calm, dry and witty, always in control of his body, etc. etc., but that really doesn't match the in-game characterization at all (he's consistently characterized as awkward, unsure of himself), meaning that I think this is more proof that a characterization as "fucking idiot dumbass baby" was intentional.
Sampling of cut voice lines:
"Ghost Twelve, Ghost Twelve... oh, shit, that's my callsign..."
"Aw, I hate D-Codes..."
"They think I'm dead. Perfect. I can't wait to see the look on McMullen's face."
"I need to get somewhere with a lot of people... somewhere where they can't just keep firing at me."
"Where is there a lot of fucking people? Where?" (girliepop you live in NEW YORK)
"Just remember! This was your idea!"
like. cmon, man.
That being said, Alex is not innocent. He starts the game without a conscience, easily and effortlessly killing people, instinctively eating them, too. He's quite literally built upon two existing minds - the people-eating virus, and the sociopathic misanthrope. I think this is why he defaults to shoving people and has no option to put them down gently - he's filled with Xander's rage, his hatred, and his casual cruelty. One of his earliest lines is this: "revenge was the only clear thought in my head. The only one I could call mine." LITTLE DOES HE KNOW. He continues. "I wanted to find out what happened to me. The reason. Someone to blame. Someone I could punish."
And now we get into a major theme of the game, my thesis: [PROTOTYPE] is about family. It's about nature vs. nurture, it's about the cycle of abuse, and it's about how the people who raise us, shape us. Xander is the "father" of this story; he's consistently placed in that role relative to Dana, and Alex directly inherits his genetics, his appearance, his name, and even his initial personality from him. And as for the mother... there is literally a character in the game named MOTHER.
Alex is, in a very literal way, the child of Xander and Elizabeth Green. He was born out of a fusion of their DNA - the virus infecting Xander's body. Elizabeth also literally says "I am your MOTHER" in their first meeting. And as if that weren't enough, Elizabeth's relationship to Alex directly mirrors Xander's relationship with his own mother: the first thing Elizabeth does is abandon Alex, and when she returns, it's only to threaten Dana's safety and torment him. Xander himself becomes a mirror to his own absent father, disappearing before he ever got to know his son. This is the cycle of abuse, the tragedy that occurs when someone who was abused becomes trapped by it, and has no ability to operate outside its confines, perpetuating the pain that was inflicted upon them.
However... something's different. Alex is not left alone to suffer like Xander does. He has Dana - a parental figure who loves him unconditionally, whom he loves unconditionally in turn. And she is the impetus for his ability to change, the one who most directly molds his burgeoning consciousness. His interactions with Dana are brief, but even in those brief interaction, she teaches him empathy ("my god, [Elizabeth]'s just a girl. What kind of fucking monsters are these people?"), kindness/mercy ("whoa, whoa, whoa. [Ragland]'s a good guy"), and trust ("look, no matter what, you're still my brother"). Let's go back to our pin. Xander is Dana's "father" also... and he was the best one she could have had, given the circumstances. Dana represents breaking the cycle. Dana represents Xander's single redeeming quality.
In other words... the key difference between Alex and Xander is that Alex has an adult figure in Dana that he can trust and rely upon, something Xander never had... because Xander was that for Dana. Xander broke the cycle. That's the one good thing he managed to do.
Now, we know that lots of rewrites happened, that final boss stuff got shifted around, and things got moved into a sequel hook, like Dana's fate or PARIAH's whole deal. However, I think we can almost piece together what it might have been if we follow this thematic line of thinking. Because here's something quite interesting: PARIAH... is in foster care. A child who kills everything he touches, abandoned and trapped, a monster, whose only use is as an agent of evolution, a direct parallel for Xander at his worst - this tortured man who "found solace only in his work", for whom foster care was better, who teetered on sociopathy and didn't care. Randall represents the government, the system, that put him there - the first ones to ever screw Xander over. So if we assume that the final boss was originally PARIAH, and Alex still needs to eat his way through Elizabeth and Randall to get to him, then an incredibly interesting thing happens when we view that sequence of events from this thematic perspective.
Alex would triumph over MOTHER, the government, and Xander's worst. The crystallization of the fleeting love within Xander's heart - the one redeeming facet of Xander's personality - would overcome his abusive mother, the cold-hearted system that forsook him, and even his own worst traits, the monster he was molded into. Quite literally, love would win. And I think this would have even tied in to curing Dana - that this would become a major facet of Alex's motivation - that he'd need PARIAH in order to cure her, or something like that. Dana - kindness, empathy, and love, breaking the cycle of abuse - becomes the impetus for Alex to change, to become a better person, to grow a conscience, to trust others. I think that's the central theme of this game.
Xander's shadow looms large over the entirety of [PROTOTYPE]'s story. There are more themes than just family, but it's the one I wanted to highlight, because I think it's the one most central, most core to the game's emotional experience. At every turn, you can feel the ghost of Xander - not just because Alex is literally wearing his corpse.
I'll restate here the relevant parts of Alex's closing monologue:
"I looked for the truth. Found it. Didn't like it. Wish to hell I could forget it. Alex Mercer. This city suffered for his mistakes, for what he did at Penn Station. And whoever he was - that's part of me."
Xander is Alex's father - the person from whom he inherited his base nature. But Alex is able to grow beyond that - to trust others, to love others.
"What have I become? Something less than human. But also something more."
Xander was so tormented by his past, by his abandonment, neglect, and abuse, that he was unable to face his sister. Terrified of the pain of abandonment, he chose to abandon her rather than risk being rejected when she became an adult. And yet, he loved his sister. That's the nuance of this character, the legacy he leaves. One of cruelty, but also one of kindness. Both are inherited by Alex - it's fair to say that everything Alex is has been shaped by Xander, his father. The bad... but also the good. And it is because of that miniscule, faltering, fleeting "good" that Xander was able to procure, that Alex is able to rise above what Xander became.
TL;DR: It would be appropriate, both narratively and thematically, to call Xander "daddy".

Coming out is single handedly the hardest thing you would ever have to do. You knew that it would be hard, that most people probably wouldn't accept who and what you were. The feeling of fear is the soul reason why it has taken you so long to finally admit the truth. Your parents were absolutely disgusted by you, they told you that. And if you were honest you were expecting that reaction from them, that's why you told them at parents weekend. You were safe at Nevermore, the worst they could do is leave.
But what you weren't expecting was for your twin sister Melissa to react in such a manner. She told you just how disappointed and disgusted she was to be your sister. That really hurt. She was literally the other half of you and now she was rejecting you too. Your parents, sure you'd expected it but your Isa? No you never in your wildest dreams imagined she'd react like this. So when she left with your parents your heart shattered. The tears streaming down your face as you replayed her words over and over again.
"It's disgusting, unnatural, you aren't any sister of mine let alone my twin. I want nothing to do with you ever again and I hope you burn in hell for your sins"  the venom in her words really cutting you deep every time you went over her words. How could she say such hateful things? You were her other half quite literally, identical twins. Yet here she was abandoning you too. As of today you had no family and that fact made you want to disappear. Maybe then everyone would be happier.
For days you locked yourself in your dorm room, crying out all the pain you felt. It was an uncontrollable pain one that felt like it would never go away. Your worst fear had come true. Being alone. Truly you were alone now, no family, not any friends and hell you had no support system. That is why you had gotten away with hiding for so long. After all did anyone actually care to check on you? No. They didn't, which is why you had lost everyone, because you deserved to be alone.
You had no idea just how worried the principal of Nevermore is about you. The poor women was going mad with worry. She had began checking all of your usual hang out spots, the food hall and your attendance records. None of which, gave her any information. Which is why after a few days and a few reports of hearing sobs coming from your dorm, she made her way to check.
Wanting to respect your privacy, yet not quite being able to make herself leave without seeing you, she knocked on your dorm. When there was no sign of any movement from inside the room, she reached into her pockets and unlocked the door. The sight that met her was absolutely heartbreaking.
You lay curled up in bed, all photo frames had been smashed, the room trashed and you curled up into the fetal position sobbing. Your shoulder were shaking violently yet the sound had long since stopped coming. This was so out of character for you and she had to help somehow. She made her way to sit on the edge of your bed, calling for you hoping to break through your state.
You shook and fought to wipe your falling tears, "p-pr-inciple- w-eems?"you whispered brokenly, your voice hoarse from all the crying. When you peaked out from your blankets she saw just how red raw your eyes were. How long had you been in this state?  "Oh my darling, I'm here can you tell me what's upsetting you little one?" Her tone was light and motherly and all you could do is throw yourself into her body. Instantly, she wrapped her arms around you and started to rock you gently.
You managed to stutter out an incoherent explanation of what had happened. Surprisingly, she  understood everything you said and responded by stroking your back and whispering words of reassurance and comfort. Reminding you that although the situation sucks, and it was really unfair your family couldn't see just how amazing you were.
She shared her stories of her own coming out and how that had been similar to your experience, the point to make you feel less alone and remind you that it's okay for you to be who you are and not feel guilty. There was nothing wrong with you, we love who we love and that's okay. For the first time in days, you finally felt at peace, snuggled into the older women's arms. Her calming actions and words never ceased. You told her stories of Isa and how much you loved your twin sister, how much it hurt you that she had left you too. She listened eagerly and reassured you that maybe Isa was struggling with her own issues, after all you had escaped to Nevermore while Isa hadn't. It was rare for one twin to be an outcast while another was a Normie which is why you often felt like an outsider in your own family.
Larissa made sure to remind you she was always here for you and Nevermore will always be your home. You don't have to hide here, be who you are freely and remember her door is always open to you. Day or night, if you need her she wanted you to come and find her. You nodded in response to her kind words and snuggled further into her.

I never knew until now how much I needed Magni and Modi and their children content, but thank you.
Since we've seen the reactions of their children to their parents dying, could we now see the parents' reactions to the children dying instead of them? Perhaps the children sacrificing themselves so the parents can live?
I'm glad you're enjoying my content. 💚 Hopefully I can continue to met your guys' expectations.

| Magni |
Tumblr media
• As stated in previous posts, you became Magni's world when you were born. He would do anything to protect you, even kill his own kin if necessary.
• So for you to die instead of him? World's will likely burn.
• He wants blood, he wants revenge, he wants to find a way to bring you back.
• Magni simply cannot lose you, not his little girl/boy (regardless of your age), he will not just let you go so easily.
• The necklace he gifted you when you were born, and had worn up until your death, is now wrapped securely around his wrist.
• When he sleeps at night, his dreams are plagued with the memories of your childhood, and he weeps everytime he wakes.
• You weren't even supposed to be there, Baldur had expressly told you to stay out of it.
• But you had begged your father with doe eyes, and he never could say no to you.
• A fact he had come to regret after your death.
• He should have known better, the stranger had survived a fight with Baldur, he should have known allowing you to join was far too dangerous.
• But like a fool he allowed you to join...
• And for that he had to watch as your head was split in two by the strangers axe.
• A fatal blow that was intended for him...
• He vows to do the same to the stranger with his own axe, no matter what it takes.
• Though try as he might he would not succeed in this quest, as it was not his fate to defeat the tattooed man.
• He dies honorably, and his last thoughts are of you, and how much more you had deserved in life.
| Modi |
Tumblr media
• He had taunted them, intending on starting a fight, so they would put him out of his misery.
• But before the kid could harm him, you practically came out of thin air, allowing the blade to sink into your heart instead of your fathers neck.
• "No!" He had cried out in heartache, clutching your smaller body as you fell, tears spilling from his eyes as he looked into your lifeless orbs.
• He never wanted this.
• First his brother, and now you, his own child. And yet he's left to suffer alone, and alive.
• The tattooed man had dragged his son away, and left Modi to wallow in his grief.
• Whispering your name over and over again, he begged you to wake up, and not leave him like this.
• He regretted ever engaging with that man and his son, he regretted trying to coax them into killing him, but most of all he regretted failing to protect you.
• Modi sat there for nearly a day, cradling you in his arms, murmuring his apologies to you, and recalling his fondest memories.
• And in the end Modi would make a drastic choice.
• He would take the dagger he had gifted you from your belt, and he would reunite with you in Hel.
• Knowing you didn't die in battle, but instead were murdered. He knew you'd be there, waiting.
• His body would be found some time later, with you still clutched in his arms like a babe. Your dagger still lodged into his neck.
| Baldur |
Tumblr media
• Baldur might not have been the sweetest father out there, but he loved you none the less.
• You had seen the spell break when the mistletoe arrow tip was sunk into his hand.
• And before Kratos had a chance to even try harming him, you had stepped forward and put yourself between them.
• Sadly your sword was little a match for his axe, which broke your blade, and sunk into the side of your neck.
• "No!" Baldur cried out, having only just snapped out of his dazed state at the spell breaking. "What have you done!?" He hissed at Kratos.
• Rushing forward to catch you before you fell, his body crumbling to the ground as he felt you for the first time in his arms.
• "That was my daughter/son!" He yelled as tears filled his eyes, his hate filled gaze snapping to you when you made a choked noise.
• You tried desperately to speak, but no words could form as you died in your father's arms.
• Freya tried to intervene, to offer help. But he wouldn't allow her to touch you, rushing to his feet he essentially ran off with you in his arms, wanting to be far away from everyone.
• He never realized just how much you meant to him until he had to bare witness to your death.
• He took your body back to Asgard where you would have a proper send off, but before that would even come to pass.
• He would make his way back to Midgard, and fight with the tattooed man once more.
• But without the protection spell, he was unable to win, dying in the same exact fashion as you had.
• His body was brought to Asgard, and you were burned on a pyre beside your father.
