would u help me out for a second. im in the mood to write for the first time, and i think your style is beautiful. sitting down n actually trying though, im stuck as fuck! i’m realizing that in your dialogue/scenes you’ve got a lot of Little Things. little tiny elements that are subtle & just enough. how are you deciding that lily is building a house of cards at the moment or sirius is sitting in a tree or whatever during a given scene? how do you come up with those ideas for dialogue that are so silly & real & sneakily tender? do you know where it’s going when you begin? any advice for just… starting something?

ps: i appreciate you. you make it look easy & that’s very very cool

This is a lovely question!! Sorry it took me so long to get to it, I didn’t want to get it wrong. Also I’ve included some examples to try and explain what I mean in practise, but it also comes off rather like plugging. tragically this is unavoidable. Anyway, all that being said I have no idea how to advise you about dialogue and coming up with it, I think just listening to people talk helps. Don’t forget contractions, and when in doubt always trust the reader to keep up, real people don’t say perfect or even grammatically correct sentences a lot of the time. We also cut each other off all the time, especially when we’re trying to be funny. Like, here’s an example from warm front:

“He’s not even two. He probably would have thought it was, like, having a lie down or something.”

Harry was laughing now, “A lie down?”

“Yeah, a spontaneous, truck-induced–“

“–Permanent–“ “

–Permanent, lie-down. I’m almost jealous now actually.”

Another thing, but people say um and like or can't speak or cut themselves off, especially when they’re nervous. James when Lily says she loves him for the first time: ‘“Wow,” He breathed, “I’m– wow.” He put both hands on her cheeks and kissed her crazy, abruptly, dumbly. Her head spun.’ He can’t even speak! Dumb boy.

I think natural dialogue sometimes just requires you to read it aloud, which is very embarrassing but ultimately quite useful in trying to figure out whether something sounds normal or not. Use casual words, and try not to go dictionary hunting: if you cant think of the word chances are your character can’t either

In terms of concepts I have no idea, but I do have a few tips. I write all my short one-shots in one document (its called ‘just bad’ lmao) so its easy to start something, write a few lines, and then if it doesnt work just start a new concept, but still have all the old stuff handy. if you feel like you’ve written yourself into a corner its probably because you took a wrong turn earlier, so its just a matter of going back up and figuring out where you turned onto the dead end, or where a line could be funnier and/or sadder and/or more meaningful. Sometimes the bare bones of a decent line is there but you have to work it a little.

In this harry/ginny thing where harry is apologising for all the attention and ginny brushes him off she says:

“It’s nothing,” her voice, all force, “Anyway, it’s more funny than annoying.”

The response went through a few drafts, all variations on the same thing:

(1) “You’re funnier.” [too short, doesn’t make sense, and not really that funny. unholy trinity]

(2) “You make it funny.” Harry said, looking at her for real, “It’s not– you make it like that.” [this could work! I have no idea why I cut this, I think I forgot abt it lmao]

(3) “You’re the funniest person I know, Harry said, sincerely, and Ginny felt her heartbeat all through her, “You make it funny.” [jumping from ‘its more funny than annoying’ to getting this sincere out of nowhere is a little much, even for harry who is famously whipped]

I ended up going with this:

“It’s nothing,” her voice, all force, “Anyway, it’s more funny than annoying.”

“You’re funny.” Harry said, looking at her for real, flustered, “I mean– you make it funny. That’s all you.”

It follows the flow of the conversation and I think the way he says it, ‘you’re funny’ like its obvious, and then being like oh fuck and over-explaining it stumbling a little “I mean– you make it funny. That’s all you.”. You know when you like someone and you say something that gives you away before you can stop yourself? I wanted it to sound like that. Just gotta keep in mind how people behave, we are so stupid a lot of the time, we give ourselves away.

The thing about short stuff i find is implying a lot of history without actually describing a lot of it. I normally do this by having memories come up as almost shards, one second of feeling. You know when you’re in a conversation with someone and they mention someone or a past event, and it rises to the top of your brain, but only for a second? i find sometimes when you’re reading stuff people will try and replay entire memories or events mid-conversation, which is not something you do when you think. You don’t need to replay it beat by beat, you were there! This sounds vague as hell so I’ll try and show you what I mean:

From good crimes: “Petunia is engaged.” Lily’s voice, raw and wrong, “To Vernon. Eliza Hunt told me at the supermarket.” Sudden flashes of Petunia, the only time he’d ever met her, sat in the back of Lily’s twenty-first, pinched and whispering. “Whose Eliza Hunt?” This seems as good a thing to say as any.

pretty on the nose (the phrase ‘sudden flashes’ is pretty so i'll allow it from past me). But see how you don’t need to know how Petunia didnt talk to anyone, how she left early, how she was the odd one out: you don’t need to read all that, you already know because she was sat in the back and because pinched is such a mean verb, spiteful and sharp, you can already imagine how the evening went without me saying so

From my proposal take, after Sirius finds out they’re engaged: Sirius’ grip on his shoulder tightened for one second, still grinning, and James knew what he meant. “I know.” He said, because only Sirius had been there for all of it, when they were fifteen, drunk on Firewhiskey for the first time and James had said I think I’ve fucked it, I think I’ve fucked it but I like her for real.

you don’t need a description of the whole night, what party they were at, who they were with, what they were talking about: the important bit is that Sirius was the first person he told, and that they’re both remembering that at the same moment because they’re soulmates lmao. You know when something big happens for a friend and you feel so full of pride & love that you feel like you’ll burst into confetti?? this needed to feel like that, and you only need a flash for it

I feel like I’ve sort of strayed off from what you asked me, which is really advice on how to start something. I normally start with a line, usually of dialogue, and then try and build from there because dialogue is my thing. You might have a different thing! Some people write from concepts or locations, or an image. i might start with one or a few lines of dialogue, write them down, and then try to build from there. For example for the proposal thing I started from james just saying “Marry me”, which I find more romantic than ‘will you marry me’, purely because it sounds like he simply couldn’t stop himself from saying it, like it rushed out. Another example, this thing started from just “don’t be mad at me” “okay” James agreed instantly, because he is such a sucker for her.

When I write I don’t normally know where I’m going! I normally set out to write something I think is vaguely funny and evokes An Emotion, and then I just play around with stuff until I get there. when I write certain stuff and I have scenes in mind, stuff I want to happen, but I find that if I try to plot it to tightly its not exciting to work on, because sometimes you write a good line by accident, that you hadn’t thought of when you sat down, and you surprise yourself. That is a really nice feeling! i want to maximise that feeling.

'What I mostly try to remember is that writing something down, anything down, is useful. Sometimes you write for a whole night and dont get anything useable, but its like clearing pipes. Sometimes you have to flush through shit to get to the good bits. All the rough stuff, the things you don’t like or didn’t work, you wrote to get you to the stuff that did work. All of the bad shit got you here! It wasn’t a waste, you were working to find the good thing

If I had any tips its just the usual stuff, read! It is annoying how much that helps. Also, and I know this may make you shudder, but reading poetry is useful just because in no other literary or media form is language so important. In comics you have pictures, in novels you have plot and character, in film you all that and cinematography, but in poetry you live and die by how good the words are. If you want recs here’s my poem roundup tag, that I do sometimes, or if you want something just now read this by Anne Carson, which uses words like ‘smashing’, ‘boatwash’, and ‘green’ in the best way possible. Also it has these lines: “Recently having learned to recognize the type of tree called sycamore, / I see them in any forest— / the ones that look harrowed, / in shreds, but / go also / straight up into life,”

I mean, think of a sharper image than that?? It’s not possible. Just try remember to stay true to your characters and that in real life, the little stuff is the big stuff. Little things the people around you do normally show they care more than big speeches, and if you want to show love that’s how to make it feel lived in. You want to build a world! the little stuff is usually the world. Take some from your own or dream the ones you wish you had.

Summary: you had be kidnapped on your way back to the compound from spending the day out with some of your friends, Tony start stressin. But not one god of mischief.

"Loki have you seen y/n, she was suppose to be back by now." Tony asked walking into the living room where Loki was reading.

"I think I remember her saying she was going to spend the day out with 'some nonsuperheros' today." He stated turning the page.

"And she just left unattended? Shes suppose to at least check in or take someone with her." He sighed.

"She asked if I wanted to join her." He turned another page.

"And you didnt go?" Tony started to sound annoyed.

"Oh gods no, last place I wanna be is with a group of gossiping girls... Or the mall. Tony, she is a very well trained assassin. She is more than capable of taking care of her self." He saod closing the book and facing Tony. "Besides everyone else gets to come and go as they please why not her?"

"I'll just call Parker, I'm sure he wont mind dropping in on her." He walked out, Loki roled his eyes and went back to his book. Loki looked down to his phone that started ringing.

"Look, thats her now." He answered picking up on the third ring. "Hello my love."

"We have your precious love." The male voice said over the phone.

"Oh, thats a shity piece of news." Loki responded.

"Whys that god of lies and mischief? Dont know what to do wothout your darling fiancé? Its about to get worst for you and your precious Avenger friends if you dont meet my demands." Loki could just imagine the shit eatting grin on this creeps face. By this time he had put the phone on speaker so that Tony could here what was going on.

"No, no. I'm not very worried about her. You on the other hand, she can get quite rough in hand to hand. Take up for her self, you know the whole spill. But I will warn you now, if one single hairnis out of place on that head of hers I will remove your head from your shoulders... With my bare hands." His voice held a darker tone to it, more threatening, more sinister. Tony was going crazy, trying to pull up locations to were the vehicle was heading and what it looked like. He was glad that he had made you take one of the Stark phones now no matter how much you had fought him on it.

"Ahhh, so now your the one thats threatening someone? See that-" The other end of the line suddenly went quiet except for the few grunts and sounds of fist hitting skin, Loki turned rasing an eyebrow at Tony as if saying I told you so.

"Loki?" Your voice came over the phone. Tony sighed in relief.

"Yes my pet?" Loki answered you. Tony flopped down on the couch trying to catch his breath.

"I just wanted one day." You sighed, he heard you opening the back door to the vehicle you were in.

"I know, love." He responded walking to yours and his shared room so that he could get you a bath ready.

"One day to not be a superhero, one day to just be a normal girl spending a normal day out with normal friends."

"Y/n, you know better than anyone thats to good to be true. We dont get to live the happily ever after like most people do." His voice soothing over the phone.

"It wouldn't hurt to be normal though with a normal life. For Christ sakes, I just took out three men, I am a deadly weapon, I even have a boyfriend that shoots green magic from his hands." You chuckled.

"Ouch, darling, you wound me." He laughed. "I do alot more than just shoot green magic from my hands. Im amazing with my daggars, I am the god of mischief and lies. And not to mention my style is absolutly amazing."

"Loki, you know what I mean." You answered hanging up as you entered the compound. You looked into the living room where Tony was still sitting, he gave you a thumbs up before shooing you away.

"These kids, all these kids are going to be the death of me." He sighed to no one rubbing the bridge of his nose.

You walked into your room kicking off your shows and following the sound of running water. "And I do stuff like this. Tell me pet, would a midguardian boy do this for you?"

Loki was sitting in the tube with candles around and just enough bubbles, you couldnt help but stare at the sight in front of you before twking off the remainder of your clothes.

"Yeah they would but indont think they would look half as amazing as you do." You said slipping intonthe warn water and letting him massage your shoulders.

"We're not normal by any means y/n. Thats something that you will have to learn to accept like it or not. But think about it this way, if you had gotten lucky enough to be normal we would have never met, you wouldn't be living in this amazing place, you wouldn't have friends like Nat or Clint, but most impotantly you wouldn't be saving people. Midgurad needs you as well as the others, its not school book normal but it is our normal. Living with two geniuses, one that turns green, two gods, super soldiers, assassins, an archer. I wouldnt have it any other way honestly." He said pulling you closer to him.

"I thought you hated it here." You laughed turning back to face him. You met his emerald green eyes that seemed to look into your soul.

"You made me learn to love it here, just don't tell the others." He laughed leaning in and kissing you.

whats ur writing schedule/process like! not in a “write faster” way, but i think once you mentioned writing in script form? and i like the way you wrote ur most recent fic! just curious bc ur works are just really good :)

this is a great question!!

if its not slippery slopes, ill usually get an idea for something and periodically jot down notes when they come to me until I feel like i have enough information to start writing (or if im just motivated), that's what i did for my horror challenge rewrite. and for stuff that's like... rewrites of an episode that aren't as character-focused as slippery slopes, i usually read the episode transcripts and try to replicate that total drama style with my own writing

for shorter oneshots, i usually just get a vague idea and run with it until i find a good ending spot, then i go back and clean it up a bit so the structure works

slippery slopes is an... interesting cycle. chapters are getting long enough that i cant just write them in one sitting any more (i think ch5 was the last chapter i did that for) and instead ill agonize over the beginning (always the hardest part to write for me) but once i get going with that i usually finish the chapter within a few days. then i reread the previous chapter to make sure it flows ok (and there aren't any contradictions) and then ill give myself a break where i dont do anything total drama related before coming back to edit and post. though before I do all that I type up notes and rough dialogue bits

and then once i post it it's like... a weight off my chest? like ive been purged or something?? idk its a weird sensation but im just like i Physically Cannot Write Anything For This Right Now and i don't start on the next chapter until that goes away. and then i either start the beginning and do nothing for a week before going back and finishing the chapter or i go into a manic state and write nonstop for a few days. right now i haven't reached a point where im ready to begin writing chapter 10 but i have a lot of notes for it.

(also as soon as i finish posting a chapter i try not to go on my laptop for like 12 hours so i don't obsessively refresh my email for comments. i love reading comments so much holy shit. please comment guys it makes fic authors feel so happy we will love you for it)

as for scripts: i am working on being a writer professionally, but specifically a playwright. writing in a script format comes more naturally to me than writing prose. funnily enough, i started posting fanfic just to practice my prose (and fix stuff in cobra kai that i didnt like) but things sort of... ended up here? idk man but im enjoying it.

right, so because writing in a script format is easier when im really struggling with a section in a fic ill usually scrap whatever i had and write it like a script, then translate that into prose. i was very excited to write the family videos for chapter 9 of slippery slopes, but i was Having Issues, so i redid it as a script and then rewrote that as prose. ill put the script version under the cut if you're interested in that.

but thank you so much for the question!! i do think my writing process is a bit unconventional but hey i think things are turning out well! if you have any more questions feel free to send them in!!

World building is the best tbh. I’m forever world building and now I have several worlds to play in and my neurodivergent brain cannot stay still enough to focus on one lmao. Troye Sivan, which is about not knowing what to make content about when it feels like you’ve already told the world everything. it featured the prechorus and hook

personally, i also conceptually enjoy srs bsns which is a really upbeat song about how they don’t care if people don’t take them seriously because they know in their heart that what they’re doing is good

hyperfocus - 2nd EP, a pretty substantial departure from their usual style, but also happens to quietly be Corpse’s favourite, and is actually y/n’s most polarising, because it has both the Grammy award winning HEARTBURN and the o brother where art thou which was written partially as a joke to capture a fond moment of them and 5SOS dicking around together in a hotel. written while on tour wit 5SOS, im writing the reader as having ADHD (because I have ADHD and i can do what i want), and the backstory is that they’d changed the medication/dosage they were taking, and as it’s their first full tour, they were under a lot of stress and were in a weird place mentally and emotionally, and hyperfocus is the result of that. i’m going through some stuff has HUGE agoraphobic vibes.

HEARTBURN has the same vibes as Florence + The Machines’ Howl. It’s about being a demon without saying that or directly implying that unless you know demons real well. This is when the pressure for them to confirm their identity got real bad, and it was their way of working through those emotions.

In the time between hyperfocus and working on it, Y/N releases several singles, including a cover of Tell Him by The Exciters to be featured in To All The Boys I’ve Loved Before. They also take time to sort out their health, do a little bit more YT stuff, and travel internationally to do festivals.

working on it - is kind of a middle ground between their original stuff, and hyperfocus, like pop-punk meets horror-pop meets whatever you’d classify halsey as. the first three songs were mostly written before the fic starts, so before they’re getting back to YT, but the last three, nightmare scenario, designed to hurt (touch me), and not scared were all written after they’d started hanging out with sykkuno and corpse.

in-universe, imposter syndrome was originally something else, along the same lines of tired that they’re hiding that they’re a demon, but after meeting corpse nd sykkuno and having people who know, and lowkey being influenced by corpse’s music, the song changes directions, and YO OKAY YO::

i’ll be home for christmas

pairing: bucky barnes x reader

summary: Bucky made a promise to his girl, and Steve helps him keep it.

warnings: Some h*ckin’ words.

a/n: So like. I just slapped this together when the idea came to me last night. Let me know what you think!

Bucky Barnes was tired.

And not the tired that came from being on your feet all day, no. He was the kind of tired that was bone deep. It sunk down underneath his skin and took root in all the small crevices of his body. It lingered in the lines on his palms and the soft skin behind his knees.

He let out a groan befitting his true age as he got up off the bed, moving to his dresser. A picture frame sat on the dark wood, an old engagement ring sitting next to it. His eyes rested on your face for an extra minute or two as he took in a deep breath.

It was a picture of you from 1942. You were wearing that pretty green dress that brought out your eyes, your hair perfectly curled. From a first glance, the photo looked so serious, but he could see the twitch of a poorly contained smile at the corner of your lips. It was a photo your mother had taken with your family’s color camera.

A luxury, in those days.

Your family had been one of the ones a little better off after the stock market crashed. You weren’t thrown into the same kind of poverty that he was.

Your family was old money and old money didn’t crash and burn because it didn’t believe in the banks. Your father kept your family’s fortune in a safe in your house.

When the banks had failed, you guys had stayed afloat.

Not that your family hadn’t helped out others. You’d been so kind. Your father had given him a winter coat when he’d seen that his was several sizes too small and worn thin.

Bucky had been eighteen and still wearing the coat he got when he was twelve.

Your father had also been his boss when he worked at the docks, and had subsequently been the reason that his family had survived those harsh years. They hadn’t been able to survive on his pa’s savings forever, especially not after his ma lost her job when she broke her hand.

But that was so long ago.

“We’re doing some pretty big things today, darlin,’” he said as he pulled on his jacket. “Stevie’s going back in time to take the Infinity Stones back. He’s gotta take them to the exact moment in time they were taken or it’ll create alternative timelines or something like that. It was a lot of words that even I couldn’t understand, and you know how much of a nerd I am.” He took a deep breath, running his fingers through his hair. “I miss you, baby,” he whispered as he pressed two fingers to his lips before gently touching the glass of the photo frame, right where your lips were. “I love you always.”

“BARNES!”

Bucky looked up to see his supervisor, Davies, calling him over. He wiped his hands on his jeans as he headed over, calling out, “Yes, sir?”

“We’ve got a new shipment coming in late tonight. Is there anyway you could come in?” Davies asked, at least having the decency to appear a little apologetic. “I’ll throw in a coupla extra bucks for ya, kid.”

He sighed, glancing down at his shoes. They were his one good pair and they were starting to wear through. There was no denying that he was going to need a new pair in the upcoming months, and that’s not to mention how fast Becca was growing.

She’d need a new dress within just a few weeks, he was sure of it.

And Christmas was coming up. Fuck.

As much as Becca insisted that she didn’t need a Christmas present, that she understood how rough things were, he still needed to do something for her. He needed to preserve that little bit of normalcy, that idea that Christmas was special.

Maybe a new pair of stockings. Or some mittens. Something small and simple that he might be able to afford.

“Yeah. Yeah, I can do that,” he said.

“Thanks, kiddo,” Davies said with a grin. “You’re the best damn guy we got working here. Keep it up. Maybe there’s a promotion in your future.”

God, he hoped so. With how bleak everything had been, his family could really use the knowledge of knowing that he had a secure job and secure pay, even if it wasn’t a lot.

The chatter of the men around him died down a little with the sound of heels clacking on the wet docks, and he turned to see you walking towards the main office, a bag in your hand. You wandered the edge of the docks, eyes on the water that crashed up against the concrete walls.

You didn’t seem to notice the way the men were staring at you, or if you did, you hid it well. You burrowed down into your thick winter coat, the mink fur lining the color keeping your ears warm. Your hair was styled in a sleek French twist, a style his ma used to do a lot for Sundays at church.

You were beautiful.

But Bucky watched almost in slow motion as your heel slipped on the ice that covered the docks, your eyes going wide as you fell into the icy water with a crash.

The other men were frozen in place, not sure what to do. They were torn between wanting to help and not wanting to risk the icy depths.

His heart pounding, Bucky ran for where you’d disappeared, tearing off his threadbare coat along the way. The men shouting at him sounded like buzzing in his ears as he dove in.

Eyes stinging from the salt water, he felt his heart jump as he saw you struggling to swim to the surface, bogged down by heavy skirts and your coat. He grabbed you by the waist, holding you close to his chest, before pushing up to the surface.

Blinking away the water in his eyes, he was greeted with men surrounding the area that he’d jumped from.

You were sputtering in his arms, coughing up water and clutching onto him for dear life.

“I’ve got you,” he said, his legs working in overtime as he worked to keep both of you afloat. “It’s okay. I’ve got you.”

“SOMEONE GIVE ‘IM A HAND!”

Bucky passed you off to one of the men, waiting for you to be pulled up onto the docks before he allowed several hands to pull him up. He collapsed on the cold concrete, staring up at the sky as he tried to catch his breath. He pushed himself up, grabbing his coat from where it’d fallen. “You’re gonna catch your death,” he said as he threw it over you, trying to shield you as best as he could from the wind coming off the water.

“FLOWER! FLOWER!”

He looked up to see the big boss man, the one who owned the docks, running towards them. His eyes widened as he realized that you looked remarkably like him.

“D-Daddy,” you stammered, coughing up more water.

“Oh, Jesus, Mary, and Joseph,” her father said as he fell to his knees in front of you. He held your face in his hands as he checked you over for any sort of injuries. “Are you alright?”

“Yes, I’m fine,” you insisted, holding onto him. “Thanks to him.” You nodded over to Bucky, and it was then that your father finally seemed to notice him.

He swallowed as the man’s eyes fixed on him. “You saved my daughter?” He asked.

Bucky slowly nodded. “It was nothing, sir,” he insisted.

“It wasn’t nothing,” he insisted, helping you up. He held out a hand to Bucky, who gave him a look of bewilderment.

It wasn’t often that rich men held out their hand to poor boys like him.

“She needed help, and I wasn’t going to leave her in there,” he said with a shrug as he shoved his hands into his pockets. He tried to play off just how cold he was, his wet clothes sticking to his skin and starting to turn to ice. If he looked closely at his fingers, he could see them starting to turn blue.

Her father seemed to notice his predicament and took off his coat, pulling it around his shoulders. “Come on into the office. We’ll get you two nice and warmed up,” he said.

Bucky didn’t know what else to do, so he just nodded and followed him.

“Thank you.”

He looked over in surprise to see you looking up at him with pretty eyes, a flush in your cheeks that he suspected had nothing to do with the cold. “It was nothing,” he repeated, glancing down at his feet.

Steve would have a field day about how he’d done something stupid enough to warrant a scolding from his ma, something that the blond was usually on the end of.

“You saved my life,” you whispered, holding his coat tightly around you. “I’ll never be able to thank you enough.”

The others were waiting for him down by the time travel thing. He could never be bothered to ask the actual name. He knew that the others had used Pym Particles to go back, but the actual contraption didn’t seem to have a name other than ‘time machine’ and it seemed like such a lame name for something so fucking cool.

Steve was getting ready to go, chatting with Sam idly as they stood there. Banner was messing with the controls.

He’d seen photos of the Hulk before, but the weird mix of both Banner and the green rage monster was… unsettling, to say the least.

Steve sighed as he walked over to Bucky, eyeing him slowly. “You know, Buck, I’ve been thinking.”

“That’s never a good thing,” he teased, a sly smile creeping up on his lips.

He laughed, shaking his head in slight amusement. “I want you to come with me on this. Help me out.” He wrapped an arm around him. “You didn’t get to do the whole time travel thing with us, and we have more than enough Pym Particles.”

Bucky looked at him, trying to get a read on his eyes. Finally, he let out a chuckle. “Okay. Sure. I’ll go with you to help with the Stones.”

And within two minutes, he had one of those fancy contraptions on his wrist and a quantum suit had materialized around his clothes.

Returning the Stones was easy. And time travel was exhilarating, to say the least. In all of his wildest dreams, he’d never imagined anything like it.

Steve took an extra long moment when they returned the Tesseract to the seventies, stealing a moment to observe Peggy in her natural element.

She was a force to be reckoned with, but she always had been.

Bucky knew what Steve wanted to do. They’d talked about it the night before.

His best friend wanted to go back to the forties to get his life with the Brit, with his first love.

And he got it. He really did. He understood the longing to go back, to steal back the life that was taken from him.

But Peggy had a life ahead of her. One that Steve wasn’t a part of. She had a husband and children and grandchildren.

“We got one last stop,” the blond said as he turned away from the window he’d been observing her in her office through. His eyes lingered on the photos of her family on her desk as he typed new coordinates, and with a flash, they were gone.

“Where are we?” Bucky asked as he glanced around.

But even as he asked, he knew.

Brooklyn. 1940-something.

A thin blanket of snow covered the ground, but there was already more coming down. It coated his lashes and his long hair in a white dust.

“The war ended in September,” Steve said, leading him down the alleyway. “Figured it’d be best to drop you off where there wasn’t a war going on.”

“Drop me off?” He took in every sight, smell, and sound like it was a drug. He’d missed this place so much. As much time as he spent in the twenty-first century, it never felt like home. He always felt like he was on his toes, like he couldn’t relax.

Steve stopped in front of a familiar townhouse, a sly smile on his lips that was barely visible in the dim light of the streetlamp. “If I remember correctly, you made someone a promise. And I intend to help you keep it.”

“Stevie–”

He shook his head, his eyes fixing him in place. “Listen, jerk. I’m not going back to Peggy. I did some thinking, and it’s not right,” he said. “She’s got her own life, her own love. Maybe mine is out there. But yours…” He looked up towards the window that Bucky knew peered into the kitchen, a soft light illuminating the flowers lining the sill inside that you were nicknamed after. “I know you’ve read her file. You know she never married, never moved on. That’s the love of your life, and you have the chance to be with her.”

“But what about you? And Sam?” He asked, his voice cracking with emotion. His eyes burned as he tried to hold the tears back.

Steve smiled warmly as he slung an arm around his shoulders. “Sam and I are gonna be just fine. He’s gonna need someone to listen while he rants about how the shield is more trouble than it’s worth more often than not and how people expect Captain America to be Mr. Apple Pie,” he said.

Bucky nodded, rubbing the heels of his palms against his eyes. “Tell him I said bye, okay? And that I’ll miss him.” As much as he didn’t like to admit it, the man had grown on him. He considered him one of his best friends. They gave each other shit, but he knew he’d take a bullet for him. “And he’s an ass.”

The other man let out a chuckle, nodding as he pulled him into a tight hug. “I’ll miss you, jerk.”

“Yeah, I’ll miss you, too, I guess,” he said, squeezing him for an extra moment. Everything he’d been through in the past seventy years felt like it was all coming to a head in this moment. “I love you, punk.”

“I love you, too.” Steve pulled back, pulling a letter out of his suit pocket. “Give this to Peggy. She’ll know what to do.”

With a nod and one last hug, Bucky turned to go up the steps of your townhouse, his hands sweating as he knocked on the door.

January 4th, 1945

My dearest Sunflower,

I’m still alive. I know you’re ready to kick my ass for not writing to you in a few weeks, but we’ve been unable to find a post office.

Steve is good. The other guys are good. We’re doing alright for ourselves.

We’re somewhere in Austria right now. I can’t tell you exactly where, and they might redact it anyway.

It’s cold as hell here. Even colder than the water I jumped into to save you that day we first met. Remember that? I thought you were the prettiest gal I’d ever seen. Still do.

To be honest, darling, I don’t think even your father’s coat could keep me warm here. We have to keep fires going at all times One of the men got frostbite in his fingers because he didn’t wear his gloves.

I’m sorry I wasn’t there for Christmas. I know that you looked mighty pretty in whatever dress you wore though. I bet it looked real good with that ring on your finger. Becca said in her letters that you never take it off. I just want you to know how often I think about that. It gives me a little happiness, knowing that you’re going to be my wife when all of this is over. I keep your picture right over my heart. The one your ma took a few months before I got drafted.

A lot of the other men aren’t so lucky. They don’t have a gal to go home to. Definitely not one was pretty as you. When your letters arrive, I let them read them as long as they promise not to mess it up. They really liked that hair ribbon and the photo of you and Becca you sent me.

I think it gives them hope, knowing that there’s still love in this world to give and to receive.

For Christmas, there weren’t many gifts. Steve did give me an extra few pairs of socks. I gave him an extra blanket I found lying around.

I know you’re going to say otherwise, but I can’t stop feeling like I failed your pa. The one thing he asked of me when he left was that I look after you and your ma and I promised him I would. I told him I wouldn’t come over here and risk my ass.

I ran into him a few weeks ago. He was going around with some of the other higher officers, talking to the troops.

Needless to say, he was surprised to see me.

He looked so mad when he pulled me into his makeshift office, I thought I’d die right there. You know how much his opinion means to me. I’d never had a good father figure until I met him. My pa was never like him. Never treated my ma or my sister with the respect and love your father has. I never knew fathers could be kind until I met him.

So I told him everything. I told him about getting drafted, how I’d tried to get out of it. I hadn’t even told Steve that. Only you.

Thanks for not telling him I was over here. I know it was awful of me to ask such a thing of you, but he swears he’s not upset with you and he understands.

He cried when I told him I’d been drafted, that I’d done my best to stay home and keep you and your ma safe. I cried, too. I’m not ashamed to admit it.

He was a little upset with me for not going home when I had the chance, but I told him I had to stay with Steve and make sure he stays safe.

But I promise you, I’ll be home for Christmas. I don’t know if it’ll be this Christmas or the next or the next, but I’ll make it home to you, okay? I pinky promise.

I have to go. Steve’s just got word that Zola is on the move.

You took a long swig of wine as you read the letter for the eighth time tonight. No matter how much of the bottle you drank, it didn’t numb the pain.

He never came home.

You’d held onto that letter, rereading it so many times that the paper had gone soft. Some of the words were blurred from tear stains.

It was the last letter you ever received from him.

Knock. Knock. Knock.

You looked up in surprise, glancing over at the clock. “Who the hell is knocking on my door at midnight?” You asked yourself as you pulled on your robe to cover your nightgown.

Which, it wasn’t like you were sleeping.

After spending Christmas Eve cooking with your ma, Winifred, and Becca, you were exhausted. But you were all determined to get it done so you could spend Christmas Day relaxing.

A pang twisted your heart as you glanced down, your ring catching in the light.

Even after two years, you didn’t have the heart to take it off.

Knock. Knock. Knock.

You huffed, tying your robe tightly. “I’m coming, I’m coming.” Flicking on the front hallway light, you didn’t bother to look through the peephole at whoever the hell was at your door. Wiping away a few lingering tears, you flung open the door, ready to chew the person out, but the words caught in your throat.

James Buchanan Barnes was standing on your doorstep. Even though he looked a few years older, with his long hair and thick beard, there was no doubt in your mind that it was him.

“J-Jamie?” You stammered, tears pricking your eyes. “Is it really you?”

“It’s really me, sunflower,” he said, shuffling his feet.

The smile he gave you was so boyish and charming, so Jamie, that you fell to your knees. Sobs wracked your body as you tried to catch your breath. “I-I thought you were dead! They told me you were!”

“I promised you I’d be home for Christmas.” Bucky fell to his knees with you, gathering you up in his arms. “It’s me, baby. It’s me. I’m here. I’m home. And I’m never leaving you again.”

Sniffling, you grabbed his face in your hands, pushing his hair back. “Your hair,” you laughed, toying with the silky strands. “Your hair is so long.” Your fingers moved to cup his jaw, a giggle breaking through the sobs. “And your beard!”

He let out a chuckle, resting his forehead against yours. His hand found your left, running over the stones on the ring that he’d given you with a promise to come home years ago when he’d been shipped off. “I have so much to tell you, my love. But I’m home.”

The feeling he could never find in the twenty-first century was back. The weariness in his bones disappeared as he held you against his chest, smoothing down your hair as he rocked you back and forth. The feeling of being home at last bloomed in his chest.

You rested your head on his shoulder, blinking away tears as you stared out at the snowy sky, holding him tight. You didn’t care that you were half inside and half out, or that the neighbors could see you.

But you were startled to see Steve Rogers leaning against the streetlamp, his arms crossed over his chest. He looked like he’d been put through the ringer just like Bucky.

And he looked so much bigger. You’d seen the newsreels of him, but nothing compared to seeing him standing just a few feet away.

“Thank you,” you mouthed to him.

He gave you a nod, a teary smile on his face, before fiddling with something on his wrist and disappearing into thin air.

Grabbing Bucky’s face in your hands, you pressed sweet kisses all over his hair and his face. “You’re never allowed to scare me like that ever again,” you said, leaning back to look in his eyes. Even though they were sparkling with delight, there was a hauntedness to them that you had no doubt had something to do with the metal arm that was currently holding you. But you were sure that would be explained later. Right now, you were just grateful to have him home. “You hear me? I’ll… I’ll put you on house arrest if I have to!”

He grinned, basking in your kisses like they were summer sunshine. “Trust me, darlin,’ I’m not going anywhere.” He pressed a bruising kiss to your lips, his flesh hand holding the back of your head.

It felt just as good as all the kisses you’d gotten from him before, maybe even better.

“I gotta ask you something,” he said as he leaned back just enough to brush his nose against yours.

“You can ask me anything, Jame, long as you stay here with me,” you murmured, kissing him once, twice, three more times before letting him speak again.

An impish grin tugged at his lips. “Where the hell are your decorations? I come home and I don’t even get some mistletoe to kiss you under?”

Rolling your eyes, you leaned your forehead against his. You relaxed as you felt his steady, strong heartbeat under your palm. For the first time since he’d been deployed over to Europe, you felt complete. “I don’t need mistletoe to kiss you under, Sarge.”

Off the top of my mind, I might remember someone else some time soon:

Sonia Delaunay. My girl LIVED and BREATHED art. She was the type to literally, and I mean wholly, surround herself with art to the point of living inside art. She sewed, made costumes for the theater, she made puppets, dolls, quilts, even furniture. She was an incredible, outstanding painter. She is at the centre of Orphism more so than Robert, her husband, who was more of a cubism guy. Now, from what I gather, a lot of what people say about Sonia in other countries is coupled with her husband, as if you can't talk about her without mentioning him. To a degree, that's correct because the two had a really secure partnership. They were both creators, and they pushed each other. It was incredibly inspiring tbh. But Sonia has her own merit, and in Portugal she is actually way more relevant than Robert bc of the influence she had on our modernist circle.

Lee Krasner. If only people sort of forgot she was Pollock's wife. Her method of creating is fascinating to me cause this girl just destroyed her past work completely, but instead of throwing it in the trash, she reused it to create new works. Art historians in the post modernist era weren't too kind to her, but she's being avenged. She's methodical and clearly puts so much thought into her composition her creative process is fascinating.

Julia Margaret Cameron. This woman is one of my favourite artists in the world. Cameron began taking photographs at 42 years old after she moved to the isle of Wight in England. She was gifted a camera by her daughter who just wanted her mother to be a bit less bored, and Cameron went on to create over 3000 astonishing photographs that are at the core of the pictorialist movement. She was also INCREDIBLY well acquainted of her society. I mean, literally every famous victorian person you can think of, she met them. The majority of famous photographs you can think of? She took them. She was very honest about her work too. Its really endearing because Cameron was so concerned about her own honesty in capturing beauty she didn't give a fuck about the actual mechanics, which resulted in a lot of photographers at the time labelling her "an amateur". She also refused to photograph high society folk that weren't her friends, and mostly photographed her maids. It must be said that Alfred Lord Tennyson absolutely DESPISED every single illustration made for his Idylls of the King, so much artists knew they were in for hell if they were commissioned the book's illustrations. Cameron was the only person Tennyson personally asked to illustrated, and he absolutely adored her work.

Hannah Hoch. I love Dada so it couldn't miss. Hannah Hoch was married to uhhhhh... Huesekbeck I think? I keep forgetting. Either way, she was part of the Berlin Dada group, and they gave her hell for being a woman. Yes, it's nothing short of that: they didn't want her to belong because she was a woman. Especially her husband, who she supported throughout his life and then he died and she was like "lmao maybe you should have made good art, my bitch". Hannah Hoch mostly makes collages, and it's incredible. Its a very poignant work about being a woman in post-Weimar Germany and the societal issues Germany faced after World War I.

Claude Cahun. There's a post I made about her going around so I wont prolong myself but essentially, though she used female pronouns throughout her life, she identified herself as androgynous and created an INCREDIBLE set of photographs. She was a surrealist who became the inspiration for Davie Bowie and Andre Breton lauded this woman breathless. She was also arrested for taking part in the resistance against the Nazis and lived her whole life with another woman who was her partner. Her work focuses tremendously on issues of gender and our perception of our own bodies.

Camille Claudel. Infamously, she is known as Rodin's lover. Camille's story is a very tragic one. She was a tremendously talented sculptor who accumulated patrons throughout her life, and though she had an a rough affair with Rodin (and he was a bit of a dick), he did praise her work and tried very hard to preserve her artwork. The issue was Camille's family, who scorned her and shamed her for being an artist and her life choices, and destroyed a lot of her art after sticking her in a mental institution where she died at like, 70. But Camille's work is... Well, it's beautiful. Its the kind of work you can see that conflict between being a woman in her society while desperate to liberate herself. Though she incorporates Rodin's language, she has her own mark, her own hand, and her own language.

Janet Sobel. She is actually the first person to coin, use and employ the technique of dripping. You know, the one Pollock gets all the praise for? Essentially, Janet Sobel was a grandmother by the time she picked up a paintbrush. She was also a ukranian emigrant with little to no english, and she engaged in art at her son's insistence. When her son Sol Sobel brought his mom's artwork to the major New York circles (she lived in New Jersey), she immediately caught the eye of Peggy Guggenheim, who put together a collective exhibition about female abstract expressionist painters. That exhibition was in 1946. Pollock was there, he msde a remark wbout Sobel's work, and in 1947 you have the first Pollock dripping painting. Do with that information what you will (and also, check for photos of how Sobel painted, it's so adorable and it just explains SO MUCH MORE THE CONCEPT OF ACTION PAINTING THAN POLLOCK). Eventualyl, Sobel stopped painting and disappeared, and there are several factors as to why we forgot her: Pollock was the CIA's bad boy, so yeah; she spoke little english (she befriended Marc Chagall and Mark Rothko bc they both spoke russian and they claimed that being with Sobel felt like being back home) and she developed an allergy to oil painting.

Maria Helena Vieira da Silva. We're moving to the french circle here, and yes she is portuguese but she belongs to the french post modernist circle. She's an abstract painter who draws a lot from cityscapes, and I think it's worth taking a look at her work.

Niki de Saint Phalle. Now Niki is incredible. She's mostly known for her Nanas, which are immense outdoors sculptures of women with thick bodies, defying the notion of slenderness imposed by fashion magazines that prevailed in the 50s. She also engages with her own trauma of sexual abuse and explores the notion of sexuality a lot, as well as women's bodies outside the realm of sexuality. At a given point, she collaborated with Jean Tingely a lot so she made a series of kinetic sculptures too.

Martha Rosler. I know you said painting and sculpture and I've already talked about collage lmao but Martha Rosler belongs to the first wave of feminist art and those mostly concern video art, though Rosler is very well known for her collages Bringing the War Home in which she literally brings the Vietnam war home. It's worth looking at her work.

Ana Mendieta. Another tragic story. Ana Mendieta was incredibly worried about the notion of the female body as perceived outside the realm of something sexual and nature. She works a lot with perishable material, works of art that are organic, that is, that will disappear with time. One of her most well known methods is leaving an imprint of her own body on natural surfaces, like a beach, or a field of grass, and then photographing it. Ironically, that was exactly how she died: she fell off I believe it was a 10th floor and onto the hood if a car. There is still speculation about it and everything points towards there having been a fight between her and her partner at the time, Carl Andre, who neighbours believe pushed her out the window. Carl Andre never saw justice and Ana Mendieta died at like 25 years old and at the prime of her career.

Kara Walker. She's a pretty young artist who's creating artworks as we speak and she confronts the notion of blackness with US history so blatantly it becomes monumental. She also makes large scale works to defy this message. If you ask me, she's one of the best artists living today.

Hilma af Klimt. She was a Swedish abstractionist and surrealist who was really focused on the occult, and made monumental paintings that engaged with things like the human psyche.

Lizzie Siddal. Now, Lizzie is better known as the Pre-Raphaelite muse, immortalised in Millais' famous Ophelia, but she was an artist of her own. And not just any artist. John Ruskin tutored her and praised her. In fact, he considered her biggest flaw being her love affair with Rossetti lmao she is very naive and honest about her work, and I would also recommend taking a look at her poetry.

Eleonor Fortescue-Brickdale. I know very little about her, but she was a post pre-raphaelite illustrator who, and this is just me, follows the trend of Julia Margaret Cameron. Her paintings are beautiful and seriously, look at both their work and try to see the similarities hah

Helen Frankenthaler and Joan Mitchell, two abstract expressionists who developed their own mode of painting and who border the Colour Field Painting (think Rothko).

Tamara de Lempicka. She's the glamour gal. She makes paintings about the glamorous life of high society and is very interesting because she depicts female nudes in a very intimate way. If I am not mistaken, Tamara de Lempicka had relationships with women, so that tells you a lot. She's very cubist in technique, more so than style.

Faith Ringgold. Oh my God, Faith Ringgold is fantastic. She is a black american woman who paints about the experience of being a black woman, but not just paint. She's best known for her Tar Beaches series, which as quilts she stitches while telling the story of a little girl who dreams about a world while spending time on her tar beach, which is the rooftops of the buildings in Harlem. Please do check her work, she is fantastic.

I'll leave well known names out because they are easy to search like Frida Kahlo, Artemisa Gentilleschi, Josefa d'Obidos, Sofonisba Anguissola (these three are located in the late renaissance period, so there's a lot of portraits, religious themes and still life), Mary Cassat, Berthe Morisot (both impressionists who focus on private female themes), Rosa Bonheur (naturalist who makes landscapes mostly), Evelyn de Morgan (post pre-raphaelite). Also check Zinaida Serebriakova, Georgia O'Keeffe, Lavinia Fontana, Louise Bourgeois, Angelika Kauffmann, Elisabetta Sirani, Romaine Brooks, Sophie Tauber-Arp, Varvara Stepanova, Paula Rego, Bridget Riley, Leonora Carrington, Vigée le Brun, Yayoi Kusama, Francesca Woodman. Etc. These are like .. top of my head with a quick google search to make sure I wrote the names right haha

Blackout - A Destiny Story

“Eyes up Guardian!”

Chase flashed and hovered over his guardians bunk, attempting to wake up a half asleep Kenton. Or Ken, as he was called by his friends, a titan exo named CHAO-5 and awoken warlock named Draeko. However like Ken, he gave them nicknames because they felt they worked better in combat. Respectively, Chao and Drake.

“Wake up!”

Ken tossed a pillow at his ghost, but Chase was able to avoid the fluffy projectile. Defeated, Chase sighed and went to get Chao and Drake to have them try.

“Won’t get up eh?”, said Chao oiling his upper section of his arm. Last time he went into the crucible, he fell and hit it, ever since it’s locked up in missions. He found oiling it has helped but has refused to ask for a new arm. Usually these three stay in their ships but they were all tired and decided to crash in the bunks room at the tower. They were out running a strike on Io and it took them a while to get back to earth.

“No, I’ve been trying for 10 minutes, he’s determined.”, Chase blinked.

“Or Hungover”, lamented Chao.

“Sigh... he was drinking again?”

“Yes, I know we got some great loot last night but he needs to lay off.”, Chao replied.”

At this, Drake walked into the breakfast room, he grabbed a bagel and looked puzzled at it. “Curious, it appears to be a donut without a dough or glaze? What’s the point of eating an inferior version?”

“Good point, why would you eat it?”, Chao agreed.

“Because we wanted to eat healthily pre-traveler era.”, said Ken stumbling out.

“Look who’s up, sleeping beauty!”, Chase chided. “You need to stop drinking alcoholic beverages after every mission!”

“Shut up Alexa”

“That’s.. not my name... I don’t understand?”

“Never mind, I’m getting a waffle.”, Ken said trodding off toward the iron.

“So, what are we doing today?”, Drake said sitting down, uncomfortably on the bench attached to the table. Drake, as an awoken had been away from earths people for a while and was still adjusting to things.

“Well, i still have yet to do that quest Ada gave me, Servo, what’s my average LL?”

“You’re sitting around 597, she recommended 610”, Servo answered.

“But, we’re all at 590-600. If we all go we might be able to do it. I got the same task.”, interrupted Ken drowning his waffle in maple syrup.

Drake contemplated this, munching on his discount donut. He had the highest Light Level out of the three and though he still had to do the quest as well, he was worried at how tough it could be. Eventually he got up, stuffed the rest of the bagel in his mouth then started toward the elevator to the armory. Not that Ken or Chao noticed, they were too busy arguing about which exotic of theirs was better, Ace of Spades or Sleeper Simulant.

Drake pressed the button and the elevator door closed and whirred as it ascended. Eventually the elevator stopped and arrived at the armory, Drake stepped out and noticed someone moving crates of weapons around.

“Good morning.”, called the warlock.

“Ah, good morning, you’re here early. Pardon the dust just organizing some boxes of rifles!”

It was Shaxx, overseer of the crucible, awoken can get pretty tall, but even standing several feet apart, Drake seemed tiny compared to the boisterous titan.

“Just checking out my weapons.”, Drake explained.

“Going on another mission?”, Shaxx said putting down a crate.

“Depends, I want to check my gear to make sure I can carry my team if I need to.”, Drake replied. “My Well of Radiance can only do so much, I want to see what my new weapons have in the way of perks. Eve?”

“Yes?”, the ghost said blinking into existence.

“Can you check what the stats on these weapons are?”

“Certainly.”, the ghost replied.

“You have the primary Assault rifle, Breakneck, the Shotgun, Retold Tale and the Sniper Rifle,Whisper of the Worm. All in the 590-605 range.”, Eve counted.

“As for my Gear, I have some good stuff, it seems and the Sunbracers for gloves.”

“Seems like I should get ready and tell them.”, said Drake returning his ghost.

“All right, ready to go?, said Chao getting in his ship. Drake and Ken replied with a thumbs up from their cockpits and the sound of their engines filled the hangar.

After a while the three of them are on there way to the EDZ and start up a conversation about their favorite weapons. The three may be very different in origin and history but the one thing they have in common is their love of rare weapons and other personal items. Ken asks what Drake’s is “being a warlock”.

“What’s that supposed to mean Cowboy?”, says Drake alluding to the hunters choice of subclass Gunslinger.

“Nothin’ but we both agree that we have very different styles when it comes to fighting.”, the hunter replied with a smirk.

“I probably would go with Prometheus Lens, it goes well with my solar subclass and it’s great for add clearing.”

“Yeah”, interjected Ken, “It used to be even better, but it was such a problem the Vanguard had to tell Banshee to mod them so people couldn’t take advantage of it!”

“Oh yeah, Banshee had a lot of work to do that week!”

“What about you, Chao?, what’s your favorite exotic?”, asked Ken slowly moving his hand toward the throttle.

“That’s a tough one, I think if I had to pick one it would we my...”

“Yeah whatever, RACE YOU TO THE EDZ!!!”, Ken yelled into his com, shut it off then pulled on the throttle sending his ship into a nosedive.

“YOU SON OF A!”-

“That little...”

The three ships raced toward the landing zone north of Trostland and the warlock, titan and hunter appeared on the surface transmatting from thin air.

“I totally beat all of you!”

No you didn’t, I clearly won that!”

“WOULD YOU TWO STOP ARGUING!”, Drake shouted.

“Let’s just get to the location on the map.”

“Fine”

“Okay”

“Well, here’s the spot.”

“A cave...at the edge of the EDZ...what’s the point here cause I’m sure missing it?”, Ken said shouldering his rocket launcher.

“What’s that in the center?”

“I think that’s what we’re here for, hey Ada?”

“HOW DID YOU GET ACCESS TO...oh it’s you 3..sorry, reflex. Ahem, that is a forge, your job now that you have that frame, is to forge the Machine Gun.”

“You need to collect charges and put them into the forge before time runs out, otherwise the forge won’t complete.”

“Sounds simple enough, just chuck some balls at the thing in the center and BAM! free loot!”, said an excited Ken racing toward the forge.

“WAIT!”, Ada shouted.

It was too late, the forge turned on and Cabal came charging through the caves for the 3 of them.

“YOU IDIOT!��, shouted the angry Awoken, “She was about to mention the danger!”

“You guys we’re taking too long we’ll be fi-

SMACK!, a gladiator Cabal smashed the frail hunter into an adjacent cave wall.

“Ugh what did he do now?”, lamented Chase reviving his dead guardian.

“He poked a hornets nest, he rushed in without a plan what do you think he did?!”

“-ne, what happened? Did we win?

“NO, you rushed in without a plan and died to a Space Turtle. Stop doing that!”

“You guys worry too much, I’m fine as long as I have Chase!”

“AND WHAT IF IM NOT?!”, yelled Chase at his guardian shotgunning a Cabal.

“What?”

“What if I’m not able to revive you? What if im not there to? What then?!”

“I’ll be fine.”, Ken replied reloading his Handcannon.

“I always think of a way out of things-

“No...your friends do...I do.”, Chase said sulking away.

“I’ll be fine without him...”

“Good thing you have that Well of Radiance D! This is getting rough!”

“Im also 5 levels above you!”, the warlock responded taking a shot at the centurion.

“Hey, is...where’s Chase going?”, asked Drake.

“Huh?”

“Chase! Wait!”

“Leave me alone...”, Chase called turning away.

“What’s wrong?”, Chao pryed shooting a psion.

“What’s wrong is my guardian is an incompetent buffoon who insists on getting himself killed and never thanking the person that revives him over and-“

“Guardian down!”, said Servo announcing his Titan’s death.

“Anyway, he clearly doesn’t need me, so I’m just gonna watch you two.”, Chase declared, if he had arms, they would be crossed.

“Jeez, that hurt, hey, my super’s almost ready!”, said Chao.

“I’ve got a while before mines ready, what about yours Ken?”, Drake asked over comms.

Ken was busy lining up shots with his hand cannon as its bullets made contact with the hard skulls of Cabal. Then he was struck with a blast from a Cabal gun and fell to the ground losing his grip on his revolver.

“Ken!”, said Chao rushing over to help.

Chao slammed the Centurion with a shoulder charge and rushed over to put up his barrier.

“Servo! Can you help him?”

“I just revived you, it’ll be a while before I can.”, replied his ghost.

“and Drake just got revived by Eve...”

The titan looked at the angry ghost in the corner of the cave.

“What?...No, NO! N-O, NO!”

“Come on Chase he’s your guardian!”

“Not until he apologizes, oh wait he can’t..HE’S DEAD!”

“Sigh...we need him for this man! You’re the only one who can do it!”

Chase looked at the cloak being stomped on by Cabal. Then his guardians cloak moved just enough to reveal his handcannon. He could see the engravings of crashing waves making up the texture of the grip on the weapon. He stopped and looked around then finally replied with, “You cover me while I bring him back.”

Soon the hunter was back, he looked at his ghost and started to apologize.

“Listen, I’m sorry for acting like an idiot... Sometimes I just get distracted or pissed off, but...thank you for bringing me back..”

“Alright, I’m sorry too... I know you can’t help it it’s in your nature to rush into things, always has been-

“Always will be, but I’ll try to not get myself killed as much from now on okay?”

“Thank you”

“Now let’s kick some Cabal a**!”

The three were on the final part of the forge and were having trouble killing the Warden, putting as many shells and rounds into it as they could but to no avail.

“I think this is why Ada told us to be at 610!”, Chao said putting up his barrier.

“Hey! Let’s pool our supers together and take this guy down, we got this!”, Ken replied.

“Sounds good to me, any objections?...no...okay!”

The Warlock summoned his Dawnblade engulfed in solar light hot as Sol itself as the Titan rushed over and put up his Ward of Dawn. The blade slammed into the cave floor, creating a spiraling Well of light as the purple tint of the Titans shield encased the two blocking shots from the Centurion. Finally the Hunter slid in front of the bubble and called his Golden Gun. After firing 6 shots from the Revolver encased in light empowered by the Well, the Warden was almost down. The three took out their power weapons and blasted what was left of the armor off the Cabal as it fell to the cavern floor.

FLASHBACK TO 2015

Y/n’s POV

After I graduated, I ended up moving to California to pursue my voice acting career. But as it turns out, it's much harder than it seems. Not a lot of opportunities pops up right away for an inexperienced voice actress. So I ended up working in a rocker clothing store down the street from my apartment. It actually pays really well and my coworkers are nice as well as my boss.

Today is one of those rare days where it's really fucking slow. There has been no more than five customers all day. That is until four new customers walked in. Three boys and one girl, (looking really no older than me) all laughing and making jokes while walking around, checking out the items. I didn't mind them being kind of loud, it was a nice refresher from the constant heavy metal they play on the radio here. I love rock and roll as much as a coke head loves drugs, but when you listen to the music constantly every day it's nice to take a break.

The female, somewhat shorter than all the boys with long dark purple hair and having a rocking attitude, came up to me. “I love your style! Do you get a discount on all the dope stuff here?” Her voice was a little rough, like she just got over a cold, but still sounded like silk when she spoke. “Dude, rad hair! Is blue your favorite color too?” The tallest boy with long dreadlocks and somewhat smudged eyeliner, wearing a lot of spikes and leather all around his body. He commented on my dark blue hair I just dyed a few days ago. It was nice refresher from my usual h/c.

All four of them looked at my style in awe with wide eyes. “We’re in a band, how would you like to come see how we sound? I'm Tyler, I play the drums.” Tyler points to the tall boy with dreads. “That's Jason. He's lead guitar.” Dreads, who I now know as Jason, walks up to me and shakes my hand. “And then this is Maxwell, the bass guitarist. But we all like to call him Blade.” My curiosity peeked up. “Why do you guys call him Blade?” Blade comes up to me and shows me his switchblade, perfectly sharpened and shiny. It looks like you could cut yourself just by looking at it for too long. “I carry this with me at all times. Never know what kind of crazy people are doing now-a-days.” He explains to me. Finally, the girl speaks up to me. “I'm Claudia. I'm the girl who does all the screamo in the band because I can't sing for shit.” She says with a cute smile on her face. None of them look any older than me, but I guess no one can really be sure.

“I'd love to check you guys out. What's the name of your band?” Tyler perks up, “It's called Toxic Nightmare! We made it when we were all in high school. We've been struggling to really get our music out there, and we have a pretty decent big fan-base, but we always wanna do better. So it would mean a lot to us if you gave us your opinion?” I nodded with a smile. “I'm down! My shift ends in about 20 minutes, would you guys be willing to wait until then and I can tell you guys then?” They all nodded in agreement. Little did I know, that would be the day when my life got way better.

BACK TO PRESENT 2018

That same day, we all went to their rehearsal area so I could hear them play. Although I did like the way Claudia sounded since she put so much passion and emotions into her screaming, I thought it could use some actual singing. Sadly none of them knew anyone who knew how to sing, so Claudia had the idea to have me try and sing. Turns out, my singing voice with her screaming sounds really awesome. Next thing I knew, I was officially part of Toxic Nightmare as the new lead singer. All of us have grown insanely close. I really consider Tyler, Jason, Blade, and Claudia as my family.

Since i've joined TN, we've really blown up in terms of getting our music out there in the world. It feels like so long since I've met them, as if I've been with them my entire life. My mom and step dad enjoy my music, which is insane considering they're devoted Christians. Jacob, now that he's older says him and his friends listen to our music as well.

I hear my phone ringing, my mother's specific ringtone I put for her a year ago. Her favorite song she dedicated to me when I was 7.

"Helloooo?" I hear movement, and then my mother's voice through the microphone. "Y/n!! How are you, my daughter? What time is your flight?" I smile to myself, thinking how I can't wait to spend the holidays with my family. Well, the ones that care about me anyway. My biological fathers side of the family disowned me after they found out what I do for a living now. And most of my mom's side of the family doesn't really talk to me as much anymore. "I'll be there by tomorrow at 8:00 in the morning." I fill her in on all that's happened this week. We have a new tour coming up in 2019, all around America. We also made sure that our last stop in the tour is in New Jersey, so my brother can come to our concert since itd be close to his birthday. "Oh! Y/n, Debra and Avi are going to spend the holidays with us! Daniel is coming here as well. Have you talked to him at all?"

I shake my head, somewhat forgetting she can't see me. "In all honesty, mom, no. I've tried to contact him a lot, but his number changed and I really don't want to go asking Avi and Debbie his number. I feel like that's kinda creepy." She takes a bite out of her food before answering. "Well at least you'll see him soon, you can catch up with him then," I hear yelling and movement in the background. "Okay hun, your brother and his girlfriend is here, I'll talk to you soon! Much love to the others."

She hangs up the phone and I sit there for a few more minutes. Dan's gonna be there. I'll get to see him after all these years. The last time I saw him was so long ago, I think about three years on the fourth of July. We talked for a bit, his girlfriend at the time took a dislike to me the minute she saw me, so I didn't have much time to talk to him. I know he's finally living the dream he's always had, and I'm more than proud of what he's doing. I listen to music during the times when I have a breather, which is pretty rare since I'm part of TN. Now that I think really hard about Dan, I remember how much I liked him when I was younger. All those years ago having this huge crush on his lanky, dorky self. Before my mind can go any farther, I force myself to go finish packing everything I need to go for the next two weeks. I hope and pray everything goes well, Im excited to see Avi and Debbie, and Dana, and Dan.. focus, y/n. You'll have time to daydream on the plane.

DAN

"I appreciate you picking my up from the airport, Mrs y/l/n. I thought it'd be a nice surprise to my parents for the holidays." She shakes her hand at me with a smile on her face. "I don't mind, son. You know I consider you part of the family. I have to pick up y/n at the airport tomorrow morning too." My head shoots up at the mention of her name. "Y/n's coming?" She raises an eyebrow and gives a small smirk. "Well yes. She took some time off to come here. Her last time off before her big tour coming up. She's been working so hard, I'm glad she's taking a break. Especially with us." I nod my head, slowly zoning out and daydreaming about seeing her again.

Before I know it, we're home. I thank Mrs y l n once again and give her hug before making my way back to my house, which is still across the street.

TOMORROW MORNING

I wake up at 7, which is insanely early for me. Mrs y l n should be leaving to pick y n up soon. I can't stress how proud I am of her. Toxic Nightmare is one of my favorite bands. I even showed Arin and Brian some of there songs. Y n's voice is like heaven, and her band mates are all super talented. Everytime I have a chance I listen to their songs, watch their music videos, I've even seen some interviews they've done. (Only real true fans know that her and I were really close back in the day.) Hi! (Im not able to access your FAQ so i hope this is an acceptable question) I feel SUPER awkward writing kissing scenes, they always feel super forced or cheesy, I'm not sure what im doing wrong, hopefully you can help me out with this!

Hi, darling! Thank you for your question :) We actually have yet to answer anything like this, so don’t worry!

As a long-time romance writer, let me assure you that most everyone feels this insecurity – even those of us who have more real-life romantic experience. We battle ourselves with over-sharing, clinical description, mood, timing, and getting the image of the kiss into the mind of the reader. With years of horrible kiss scenes under my belt, I’ve accumulated some tips for you…

How to Write a Kiss Scene

So before I get into it, let me make a clarification for what I’m talking about here. There’s two kinds of kisses in fiction: kisses and kisses. If you’re writing a brief paragraph of a kiss, something to tie up a chapter or a character interaction, you probably won’t need all of these tips, although some will still apply. This post is more relevant for kiss scenes, which are more romantic and drawn out. Whether your characters are giving their first confessions of love, reuniting after a long parting, or giving a prelude to passion, these are my thoughts on how to portray a warm and lovely kiss scene.

1. Do Your Research

Whether or not you’ve been kissing your share in real life, there’s an art to fictional kisses. It’s less about realism and more about the feelings inspired in the reader – and this affects how kiss scenes are filmed and written. The style you want may relate to genre, too; sitcom kiss scenes (think Ross and Rachel) are a bit different from drama kiss scenes (think Jack and Rose).

When you’re watching/reading examples, pay attention to a few key details. Watch how the writer leads up to the kiss – the dialogue, the physical interactions, the way the characters look at and think of each other before the inevitable kiss. If you’re watching a filmed kiss, take note of the actors’ unique physical habits. What do they do with their hands, their posture, their facial expression? What emotion do they give off in the moment – love, lust, anxiety, glee, desperation? And which of these appeals to you and your characters? This will give you ideas for physical descriptors, as well as an idea of what mood to set.

2. Focus on Sensory Detail

In my experience, the worst kind of kiss scene is one which is described too clinically or distantly. For some writers, the nervous habit is to write a kiss scene as a stenographer would take down a testimony: this is what happened, this is where we were when it happened, and this is what I was thinking when it happened. It’s too stiff, and it relies too much on Telling instead of Showing.

Instead, describe the scene as though you were in it, doing it, with your eyes closed. Let us know what the POV character notices, when they notice it, and how it feels. Start with a detail about the kiss itself – the warmth, the taste, the easiness of it – then move on to other parts of the body, and other sensory details. What are their hands feeling? If they’re on the other person, what do their clothes or hair or skin feel like? What are they hearing? What colors are dancing behind their eyelids? Let us experience it, and let us experience it in romantic language – staying away from words and metaphors that sound rough, dull, or cliche. A few things to avoid:

Weird tongue shit – tongues fighting for dominance, going into throats, probing and asking for entrance, etc. This is not what tongues do, and even if it were, reading this kind of language is a huge buzz kill. There’s a reason TV actors tend not to kiss with tongue; it’s not half as pleasant for the viewer as it is for the participant.

The “starter pack” romance descriptors – including but not limited to: “they deepened the kiss,” “they pulled (him/her/them) closer,” “(his/her/their) lips met (his/hers/theirs),” “the world faded around them,” or god forbid, anything about a girl’s chest heaving with her deep breaths.

Overwhelming detail – because as important as it is to be romantic and sensory, you can definitely have too much of a good thing. For one thing, and this is a good general rule in writing: do not describe colors. No one cares how blue a character’s eyes look, or if they’re in a black or white lace teddy (in fact, stay away from the word “teddy” if you can), or if the hair “cascading over their shoulders and pooling at their midriff” is strawberry blonde or raven black. Only describe colors that change in the moment – flushed cheeks, reddened lips, or that early purple of a developing hickey. Anything else and you’re wasting page space.

The setting around them – at all, if possible. Too many writers get nervous in the middle of a kiss and “zoom out” to give us a view of the room they’re in, but this isn’t necessary at all. If your characters are making out, they don’t care about the hue of the sheets they’re about to fall into or the pattern of the rug twisting under their feet. And if they don’t care, why should we? We’re just here for the action, and we want it fed to us in an IV, immediately.

3. Make Your Kiss Scene Original

When writing something lovely and language-driven, you must resist the urge to use your first idea. Avoid the obvious information, which read like stage directions, and instead give us what their hands are doing, what their legs are doing, where they’re feeling warmth – the little noises they’re making, the lightness in their heads, the things they want to do but aren’t doing… yet.

Romance scenes are a great opportunity for originality, because everything has a clear direction. So when you’re brainstorming, try going to the less sexual things first, and sexualizing them. Romanticize them. Tell us how their hair feels – feathery and soft or thick and curly or tangled and rough or braided or twisted. Tell us how their clothes stretch around them when they take big breaths, how their heels peek out of their shoes when they stretch up into the kiss. Tell us how the inside of the other person’s shirt feels against their fingertips. I mean, god, romance writing is so beautiful for this reason – because you can catch things in your net that swim past you in the real moment. Don’t overwhelm the reader, but give them more than, “They wrapped their arms around each other and kissed.” Because it is more.

4. Craft New, Unusual Situations

Instead of the same formula, where two people meet eyes, kiss, wrap their arms around each other, and eventually break away, try some new positions: hand-holding, standing between the other person’s feet, one person sitting on a table, both in an awkward state of half-dressed, tasting like toothpaste or something not bad but not quite sexual. Don’t be afraid to get comedic with it – maybe there’s some ticklish facial hair or a shirt that won’t unbutton, or one character’s really itchy but also super entranced and bouncing between awkwardly trying to scratch their knee and groaning because damn, this person can kiss. Humor and romance are not mutually exclusive. In fact, they work pretty well together.

I think a lot of romance-lovers would agree, also, that awkwardness is majorly underrated in love stories. Tripping, or lulls in conversation, or stuttering, or having shit-all to say after the kiss when you just want to be smooth and sexy – these imperfections are endearing and memorable, and they’ll put a smile on your reader’s face more than hot-and-heavy ever will.

5. Don’t Neglect the Moments After

As important as the instant of the kiss is, the period afterward is double. It can be difficult to transition from a purely physical moment back into the conscious world, full of thoughts and dialogue and the reaction to the heated kiss that just happened. It can be overwhelming to attempt to maintain the tension once the kiss has happened – to follow up with a realistic and not-cheesy and not-disappointing response to everything. Some writers panic and rush the ending, but trust me, you don’t want to waste this important moment in the scene!

So take the pressure off and, instead, take this ending for what it is. Your characters aren’t going to sit there and think up a storm; they don’t need to say much, either. Either end the scene with a quirky one-liner, or a farewell, or something sweet – but give it an ending. If the kiss is going to continue, give us a line at the end letting us know that they’re leaning back in. Don’t bow out too early, but don’t overstay your welcome, either. Just give us something more than a kiss and an awkward walkaway.

This is a basic idea of what’s important to me in a kiss scene, as a reader and writer of romance. Meghan Markle's future sister-in-law has revealed her most recent arrest came after a row that left future husband Thomas Markle Jr, 51, with a black eye.

Darlene Blount, 37, of Grants Pass, Oregon, recounted the chain of events that led to her being handcuffed and said the fight began as the pair made their way home from a local bar at 5.30pm last Thursday.

The cause, Blount said, was her decision to go out with some of her girlfriends, adding that Markle Jr 'gets pretty jealous' if she goes to a bar without him.

Blount says she demanded to get out of the car but accidentally clipped Markle Jr in the eye with the corner of her purse as she made her exit.

She spent the evening at her mother's home nearby, where she had 'a few drinks' before returning home just after midnight.

When she got there, it was to find the window fitter, 51, 'wasted' and sporting a black eye, and standing in a 'destroyed' house.

Blount exclusively told DailyMail.com: 'He said he'd already called the cops on me. I was just like "whatever, I didn't do nothing to you".

'I thought he was joking at first and then the cops showed up and arrested me.'

Markle Jr added: 'We got into a pretty heavy argument and she screamed at me to let her out of the car but as I was starting to pull over, she swung around to reach her purse in the back seat and caught me in my right eye with her elbow.

'I thought she intentionally hit me, which wasn't the case. When we got home the argument continued, so I then phoned police and she left the house.

'I made a report saying she punched me in my eye while driving which almost caused me to wreck.'

The 37-year-old mother-of-one was booked into Josephine County Jail on assault charges and spent the next two nights sleeping on a concrete floor before being bailed out Saturday by her fiancé.

Blount and Markle Jr are currently being kept apart by a police-imposed no contact order, with Blount staying at her father's home until Monday when she hopes the restriction will be lifted.

Once reunited, the two plan to have alcohol and couples counseling but say they are worried about how the royal family will react to their latest brush with the law.

Blount told DailyMail.com: 'Yeah, I am worried [about what they will think] but it is what it is and there's nothing I can do to change it.

'People will message me on Facebook now and things like that - rude things. I just block them because I don't even know who these people are.'

Markle Jr added: 'It's hard to say how Meghan might feel about this - she doesn't live in the real world with real life situations like everyone else.

'I don't think she plans on reuniting with anyone in our family.'

He continued: 'I think Meg might be having a hard time getting used to her new role as a Duchess but the only thing I think she's doing wrong is ignoring her father and not visiting him, like the rest of the family.'

The latest arrest comes less than eight months after Blount was cuffed for another drunken fight with Markle Jr on New Year's Eve.

On that occasion, the 37-year-old spent two nights in jail after calling the cops and claiming the 51-year-old was 'being really f***ing weird' and beating himself up.

Another source of stress: Samantha Markle, who is estranged from both her sister and her brother, has been named as a possible participant in Big Brother in the UK

Audio of the police call from New Year's Eve revealed that she accused him of being 'mentally abusive' and told the operator that she was afraid for his safety.

She also said he had been drinking when he became jealous, thinking she was trying to 'f*** some dude' she knew when out at a local bar.

The then 36-year-old claimed to be 'scared' of Thomas because he is 'a big guy', suggesting to the operator that he could be mentally ill.

When police arrived, Blount was arrested instead but the charges were later dropped.

Markle Jr has also spent time in Josephine County Jail and was arrested in January 2016 for drunkenly holding a gun to Blount's head during yet another argument.

Like his fiancée, he was bailed out two days later and the charges were ultimately dropped.

Blount says she is still waiting to find out if the district attorney will prosecute the assault charge pending after her latest arrest but says she and her fiancé will stay together regardless.

She told DailyMail.com: 'Yeah, we are still getting married – we're going to have to work on things but yeah.

'We were thinking [of doing it] this year but we might put it off a little bit until all this c**p goes away. Tom helps me a lot and he's a father to my son.'

Markle Jr added: 'We have always stayed together through rough times. We have a lot of work to do - counseling for couples, alcohol counseling - but we do plan to be together.'

WHEW I survived, it was 9-1. I get paranoid for nothing! So now Jay and Ali decide to be ugly and put us in One World, which has it's ups and downs. One one hand, I CAN FINALLY TALK TO ABBEY about the game, but on the other hand, Ricky is a snake and even though we have AGREED to put Hawaii behind us, I don't think I can trust him for one second. Okay so here's the sitch: this one world/pair challenge twist is like pretty tame considering I thought I would get voted out for missing the announcement lmao but like it still makes things very interesting. Rafael, honey, you're playing this game way too hard you're on some Monopoly shit when we're still just trying to play hopscotch - he's gonna get his ass voted out sooner or later with all this overplaying and I can't let that happen before Ruthie/Ahsley because after the idol stunt I can tell those two are here to really play the game and can make shit happen, especially with these jumpy newbies. Ricky (my love) keeps saying not to worry or think too far ahead, but I have all the scenarios (insert Jozea gif) running through my head of how things are gonna go. But basically right now I just need to avoid the pair challenge tribal because that shit sounds rough.... OR I could use Rafael's overplaying against him in that tribal OR use the Ruthie/Ashley idol panic situation to get them voted out.... like I said: scenarios!!!! Toph is really nice, and I want to go left with him. However, at the same time, everyone else on the Dying Alliance (Amanda G, Bryce, Will, and Mo) is going left too. That means the tribal council may be decided by randomization. I do not want that. I would rather guarantee my safety. However, Toph has invited me to an alliance with Amanda Lynn. I can't pass up this chance to start creating bonds before merge. It is certainly a prisoner's dilemma I face.

I'm very happy the vote was unanimously for Aundra and that no one tried to pull anything last minute. I believe this vote made our tribe stronger and I feel like everyone trusts one another a little bit more now. Even more so with this new One World twist. I'm just hoping to avoid tribal for a little bit longer. I'm not too excited about going back.

This One World twist is pretty nice but now everyone talks in the tribe chat and I feel like I have nothing to add and I'm not funny. I messaged everyone but I've really only talked to Will and Mo. Mo is sweet, he's my partner. We both agreed that we would go left so both of us could avoid tribal. I hope he stays true because I'm going left regardless. The more I think about it, the more upset I get. I don't remember exactly what I said in my last confessional regarding Ricky but, it's bothering me. Basically, he told me we could put Hawaii behind us, since it's been a YEAR and we both just want to be over it. And when Abbey told me he said the same thing to her, I really believed him. Ali and I have been talking about our partners. Mine is Mo and his is Ricky. He is really uneasy about Ricky and believes that Ricky will go right and Ali will have to go to tribal. He says he's probably going to go right just in case Ricky goes right. Better both of them go to tribal than just Ali. Also, Amanda told Toph and I that she has played with Ricky before, and that it didn't end well. I'm glad Ali is going right because I'd like to get Ricky out as soon as possible. Amanda was vague about what she told us but I'm hoping she opens up about it more so we know what exactly happened and we know what to avoid with Ricky. As regards to my partner, I trust him. Mo seems a little too timid to turn on me and go right. We're both going to go left, as far as I know. I'm going with my gut but I keep having seconds thoughts thinking that Mo is some evil mastermind. I don't know. I'm hoping for the best. I am hoping that, if anyone avoids tribal this round, it's Toph, Amanda, and I. They both seem to trust their partners (I feel like Toph trusts too easily though...) and I'm hoping for a smooth tribal avoidal for the three Merge Hopefuls.

See the thing is, if I go right that guarantees at least that my partner goes to tribal council. And since he's acting like he really doesn't care that much (about the challenge or the game in general) I feel entirely fine doing that lol, I somehow already have ammunition against him if we both end up at tribal and I can easily flip the vote against him if I feel like I'm in danger. As long as it isn't me, right?

I trust my partner enough to go left, but I haven't sent my official message yet. My tribe mates have been discussing going right in order to push the other tribe's members to tribal especially since those on the other tribe might go right so if we went right then we could use this as a chance to vote out someone from Espirito should everything work out ideally. I'm not positive about which direction I'm going to go quite yet though. I'll decide closer to the deadline.

While sitting on the toilet, I came up with a strategy that I think might work in the favor of the Salao tribe, assuming that they haven't voted yet because it is a bit late for me to be coming up with a strategy like this.

My thought process is that we don't exactly want to avoid tribal, we just want to avoid voting out our own. And the way we would do that is by having the majority at tribal council. If all but one of the Salao tribe goes left, then some of us go to tribal and some of us don't, all depending on how Espirito votes. I am assuming some of the other tribe will vote right, which will send some of our tribe to tribal. And that is not exactly a bad thing as long as we have more people at tribal, and we will if we all vote left, except one person.

If we choose one person on Espirito we would like to vote off, then only the person whose partner that is would go right. Example, if we wanted Mo gone, I would go right and everyone else would go left. If I ended up at tribal because Mo went right, then that's fine. We would still have the majority to vote Mo out. The only problem with this plan is if not enough Espirito tribe members vote right, then we would go to a random tribal and have to fight for our lives. But still, a nine person tribal could result in Salao having a majority and voting out someone from Espirito. I pitched my plan to Toph but he hasn't responded. I just need someone to reassure my plan before I pitch it to the whole tribe. :0

I have to say that this challenge is very nerve wracking cause it's so much of a crapshoot because you can't be 100% sure how the other tribe is going to go which leaves a lot up in the air. Even though we are working out a strategy, we can't guarantee its success because we can't be certain of the other tribe's actions

Anyways, I was right in choosing right. That other tribe is a bunch of snakes is what it is. Toph asked me about certain people like Gwen on which way their partner went, and then those people go right after I tell Toph their partner went left. I'm glad that snake is going to tribal. He will be voted out. Ray doesn't want to be here so he is not our concern. Toph will go for his attempt at taking a shot at our tribe. Point blank. Michael, Ali T, and Gwen are snakes and if they make merge they are gone.

Well, our plan didn't work. However I'm glad I went left because it's better for my social game in interactions with the Espirito tribe. Last night, Amanda G accidentally called the One World chat and a lot of people had gotten on. It went well, and I feel like everyone bonded who was there. Then, people started leaving and it was only me, Amanda G, Emily, Toph, and Bryce in the chat. We got to talking and played some games like mafia and town of salem. We really bonded overnight. So we started an alliance called Amanda and the Mafia because Amanda does not have a computer to play mafia so we were all playing but she wasn't. Now I feel bad for sending Toph to tribal when we've become allies. The team's plan is to flip the vote onto Ray instead of Toph. I've already planted some seeds in Ruthie and Toph has been talking to Ricky and Ashley. If they don't flip the vote, Amanda G, Bryce, and I plan on "exposing" Toph by saying he has an idol and plans on playing it for himself. That way our tribe votes off Ray. However, something interesting came up in this talk. Bryce was the one who voted for Ashley at the first tribal. That means that him, Amanda G, and Zoe voted Ashley while me and Mo voted off Ricky. That means that Will had to have been the fifth vote for Zoe. Also, Ricky told Toph that he hates me because I voted him at the first tribal. Who could have told him that? The only people who knew were Zoe, Mo, Amanda G, and Will. Zoe was gone by this point and Mo wouldn't have said anything to Ricky so it comes down to Amanda G and Will. Most likely, Will told Ricky and set the plan in motion to vote out Zoe. Not only that, he also exposed me to Ricky for Ricky to target me. Will is a snake. A scheming, lying snake. This alliance will be beneficial to say the least. I hope this alliance does well. I like everyone there and want to go far with them.

Okay so Amanda accidentally calling the one world chat turned out to be i.conic. We talked for a while with a bunch of people but as it got later it was just Me, Amanda G, Emily, Toph, And Raf. They decided that they wanted to make an alliance out of the people in the call and I thought they were joking but then a chat was made so I knew it was real. I was hesitant about it at first because Raf is kind of uncontrollable and outs info easy but I learned to trust everyone. We figured out that Will must have voted Zoe instead of Ashley like he said, although I am still unsure if it was Will or Amanda G with the wonkie vote. Either way I really lose this new group and hope Toph can stay for this tribal and that someone on our tribe flips to help him and gets Ray instead. Emily is my fave Gemini so go that!

So last night, there was a group made which consists of me, Toph, Emily, Bryce, and Rafael. It was made when I accidentally called the One World Beach and I'm really proud that I did that because if I didn't, we wouldn't have found out that Will was a snake.

I'm very worried about tribal tonight. I really don't want Toph to go. Now that I'm in an alliance with Toph, Rafael, Bryce, and Amanda G, I really don't want to lose him and be the only Salao in this alliance. Rafael and Toph have a plan to fake Toph having an idol and I'm WORRIED about it. This plan is more than likely not going to work, get Toph voted out, AND put a target on Rafael's back for helping Toph, a member of the other tribe. People will be able to see right through the plan if they're smart enough. It's very unlikely that Toph would tell Rafael that he found an idol if Toph yelled at Rafael just last night for sending him to tribal. Both Toph and Rafael are being a little risky and I'm scared. Ricky, Ashley, and Ruthie literally have Toph's fate in their hands. And none of them are coming online. I'm shook. We need their help. Where are they??? Our whole alliance, the NFPs, are going crazy searching for idols. Toph believes Nayeli has the idol and that it was in spot 126. Rafael, Amanda G, and Bryce are searching like crazy as well. This is hard. Amanda Lynn also approached me with an alliance of her, Ali T, and Francie, and I'm so into it. I love those three. I've been wanting to work with Ali and Francie for a while and I'm happy Amanda is proposing we all align tonight. ALSO: IN THE MIDDLE OF CALL, AMANDA G HAS REVEALED TO US THAT SHE HAS AN IDOL!!! i found the idol and it was my first time looking and i hadnt looked before bc i didn't think i would find it but i did and toph literally went around to everyone telling them what numbers to look for like sis get out my pms we've only talked like twice. i told him i hadnt found anything bc at that time i had already searched but the hosts hadn't notified me that i had gotten but i wouldn't have told him i had it anyway.

what i think is real cute tho is that he exposes me in the chat and tells people i have AND THEN sis deletes the messages and tries to pm me and say hi and how he's scared he'll get voted out like bitch you think you sly i literally the messages and then you deleted them so cute real cute I didn't tell the icons alliance i had the idol bc i wasn't planning on using it on any of them lol so i just said i didnt tell them i had it but since toph exposed me i kinda had no choice

i told them and i played it off as i wanted to keep under wraps for a time we really needed and that i would use it on them if they ever needed it and so far it seems to have worked they seem okay with it but idk we'll see

anyway toph is who want out next, dude exposed me which literally isn't smart bc he could have just told me he knew i had the idol and kinda made a deal with me but exposing me just made him someone i want to target and aside from that he literally messaged everyone telling them where to look for the idol and gwen and michael didnt like that so they're down to get him out as am i and we just need 2 more people(amanda and ali) to be down. also the icons alliance is the majority since we're five so if that goes right we can make merge.

I am so excited. Toph is playing his idol and he's staying. Ashley is going home. I'm making sure everyone thinks I'm alone and out of the loop. I'm currently talking to Will. I am telling him no one in my tribe is talking to me because I didn't put myself out there enough and yadayadayada. I do have a few allies, so I'm good. But I want Will to think I'm alone come tribe swap. He may want to take me under his wing and I can use that to my advantage. I'm just so excited to see Toph play his idol and everyone be Shooketh™.

Amanda is still a queen, I wish we could have saved the idol for later but I guess this is what we have to do to keep toph. Toph needs to lay low hopefully. Will apparently is a snake but I still trust him FDKJDSHKFJDSJK. Ashley should be going home which will be hopefully good for us. Also I need to try to make sure I'm in with my alliance more and that I'm not the 5th wheel.

I tried to help Toph get the idol to keep him safe at tribal but was unsuccessful. The ideal would be for an Espirito member to get voted out at tribal somehow though that's pretty unlikely yet I would honestly rather Ray be voted off than Toph because he's been more inactive and I feel like Toph would be a better ally. I've talked to him a lot and I trust him whereas I know almost nothing about Ray so I would rather him go.

I lowkey have this fear that if Ray stays (which it looks like he will) he's gonna try and call me a snake or turn people on me but... he's also an asshole and people already seem to be in agreement with me over that. I do feel bad for Toph, but it's gotta be someone and right now that's the best option. Me, Ricky, and Abbey are still a solid swing position on our tribe and I'm good with enough people on our tribe and the other tribe that like... I think I'd be fine in a swap. But for now it's just a slow, chill game and we'll have to wait it out
