But now we must know, what are your headcanons for the first generation of Gods siblings? Personally? Zeus isn’t allowed to swim with Poseidon cause they always fight and Zeus goes toaster in bathtub mode where he’s the toaster.
I haven't considered Zeus doing the "toaster in bathtub" thing. Thank you Anon, I will put this into my HC list :3333
Now on with the first-generation Olympians (it's gonna be a long ride, so strap on!)
Hestia, Demeter, Hera, Hades, and Poseidon were swallowed when they were young kids/nearing adolescence, not newborn babies. I want Kronos and Rhea's family to have some years happiness together before the prophecy ruin them all.
Out of the Big Six, Demeter and Hades look the most alike to Kronos (unrelated note: Persephone looks the most alike to Kronos out of the 2nd gen)
Demeter is Kronos' favorite child because she shares his power over agriculture. Kronos has even planned her future to be his successor as goddess of the harvest.
Poseidon has the fear of dark, closed places due to his trauma of being locked in Kronos' stomach. During his first centuries ruling the ocean, he cannot stay in his kingdom at night because the realm gets extremely dark and it paranoid him. Poseidon can't go to the deep trenches either.
To cope with his fear, Poseidon's bedroom is filled with bioluminescent algae and jellyfish.
After escaping Kronos' stomach, Hera was sent to take refuge at Oceanus and Tethys' place. Around this time, she became besties with Amphitrite (I see Amphi as a daughter of Nereus but she is close with the other sea deities too)
Thetis and Hera's friendship is underrated. Hera, Thetis, and Amphitrite have occasional girl's nights where they ditch their spouses to spend time together.
As besties Hera and Amphitrite share the same taste in men *looking at Zeus and Poseidon*
Hera and Amphitrite were not happy when Zeus married off Thetis. Oh boy, there were a lot of screaming and fighting for Thetis' behave.
It was very surprising when Thetis later made her husband Peleus immortal (there is a version of that lol)
Zeus and Poseidon created the electric eel and other aquatic animals that produce electricity. The purpose? Ask them.
When Hebe was training to become the cupbearer of the gods, Zeus watched over her and gave her tips from time to time. He used to be the cupbearer of Kronos, too.
I am seriously contemplating on whether Poseidon have a thing for Odysseus or not. Like in "I want to fuck you up both ways".
Hades doesn't outright ban the others from coming to the Underworld. The reason he doesn't like them visiting often is because some will ask (read: screaming and crying at) him to resurrect their favorite mortals.
Hades adopted Cerberus some times after Typhon (Cerberus' bio father) was defeated and the doggo had nowhere to go. From then on Cerberus was living in luxury in the Underworld with the only job is to guard the door.
Hades has a messed up sense of humor after centuries of dealing with the dead, and Persephone got infected as well. If you ask Hades "Can you give me a hand?" he will give you an actual hand.
Hades x Persephone x Minthe OT3 is real.
Hades isn't some gloomy dark man. Yeah, he wears black a lot but also with gleaming gems and fine jewelries (you know, god of precious minerals and all).
You don't believe me? Here's the testimony:
Tumblr media
(tfw your husband rocks his dress prettier than you :DDD)
The three kings didn't draw lots to determine who will rule which realm. During the Titanomachy, they grew fond over their future kingdom and showed hints of belonging to them.
Poseidon's first hint of becoming King of the Sea is that he makes lots of sea puns. Like, a lot.
They also don't have total rule over their kingdoms. Their authority is above all but still under the Primordials of their respective realms (Zeus is under Nyx, Poseidon under Pontus, Hades under Tartarus). Every time they make major changes in their kingdom, they have to consult the Primordials first.
Demeter isn't officially crowned ruler of the Mortal Realm but they all know she is in charge of the whole place.
Even though the Big Six preside over lots of domains, they don't always tend to each one themselves but have lesser deities like dryads, naiads, nepheles, etc. to assist them while they act like the head directors.
The marriages of the three kings and queens are more about political power than love. It's not that they don't have some feelings for each other though.
When they were young and Zeus is courting Hera, he once put on a peacock tail to woo her.
Demeter is married to Leto and they raised Persephone, Artemis, and Apollo together. I don't take objection.
All of the second-generation Olympians were taken care of by Hestia at least one time.
Do not mistake Hestia's dislike of violence for her incapability of inflicting violence. She can cause more damage than your mental health is prepare for.
Hestia doesn't yell or hit others, but disappointing her is the biggest crime.
Demeter makes the best vegetable dishes, roasts, soups, anything. Kids love veggies because of her. She can make you love broccoli with one meal.
Headacanon but also true myth: Demeter adopted and raised lots of kids on her own. Many of them later became her companions or spread the agricultural knowledge they learned from her to humanity. They all love mama Demeter.
Hera treats her daughters better than her sons, but it's because she is learning from her mistakes in bringing up Ares and Hephaestus. She isn't the best but she is trying everyday.
Zeus doesn't hate Ares, but what he reflects. Ares is a raw reminder of a darker side of Zeus that he'd rather pretend doesn't exist.
I've made this joke before but it's still relevant: The only thing more complicated than advance mathematics is Zeus and Hera's relationship with Ares.
Zeus' favorite children are Athena and Apollo, obviously. His least favorite (as in he doesn't care enough compared to others) are Ares and Persephone.
Iris and Chloris/Flora are not straight because of Hera, but they know they won't have any chances with her.
Zeus' first lover is Aëtos, an earth-born man who was his childhood friend when he lives in Crete.
In the modern world, the lock screen of Hera's phone has the picture of her family being happy together. And her home screen is the pic of Zeus in a Pikachu onesie.

The monastic life first emerged as a definite institution in Egypt at the start of the fourth century, and from there it rapidly spread across Christendom. It is no coincidence that monasticism should have developed immediately after Constantine's conversion, at the very time when the persecutions ceased and Christianity became fashionable. The monks with their austerities were martyrs in an age when martyrdom of blood no longer existed; they formed the counterbalance to an established Christendom. Men in Byzantine society were in danger of forgetting that Byzantium was an icon and symbol, not the reality; they ran the risk of identifying the kingdom of God with an earthly kingdom. The monks by their withdrawal from society into the desert fulfilled a prophetic and eschatological ministry in the life of the Church. They reminded Christians that the kingdom of God is not of this world.
Monasticism has taken three chief forms, all of which had appeared in Egypt by the year 350, and all of which are still to be found in the Orthodox Church today. There are first the hermits, men leading the solitary life in huts or caves, and even in tombs, among the branches of trees, or on the tops of pillars. The great model of the eremitic life is the father of monasticism himself, Saint Antony of Egypt (251-356). Secondly there is the community life, where monks dwell together under a common rule and in a regularly constituted monastery. Here the great pioneer was Saint Pachomius of Egypt (286-346), author of a rule later used by Saint Benedict in the west. Basil the Great, whose ascetic writings have exercised a formative influence on eastern monasticism, was a strong advocate of the community life. Giving a social emphasis to monasticism, he urged that religious houses should care for the sick and poor, maintaining hospitals and orphanages, and working directly for the benefit of society at large. But in general eastern monasticism has been far less concerned than western with active work; in Orthodoxy a monk's primary task is the life of prayer, and it is through this that he serves others. It is not so much what a monk does that matters, as what he is. Finally there is a form of the monastic life intermediate between the first two, the semi-eremitic life, a 'middle way' where instead of a single highly organized community there is a loosely knit group of small settlements, each settlement containing perhaps between two and six brethren living together under the guidance of an elder. The great centres of the semi-eremitic life in Egypt were Nitria and Scetis, which by the end of the fourth century had produced many outstanding monks - Ammon the founder of Nitria, Macarius of Egypt and Macarius of Alexandria, Evagrius of Pontus, and Arsenius the Great.

Mosaic of Delos depicting the god Dionysos
The mosaics of Delos are a significant body of ancient Greek mosaic art. Most of the surviving mosaics from Delos, Greece, an island in the Cyclades, date to the last half of the 2nd century BC and early 1st century BC, during the Hellenistic period and beginning of the Roman period of Greece. Hellenistic mosaics were no longer produced after roughly 69 BC, due to warfare with the Kingdom of Pontus and the subsequently abrupt decline of the island's population and position as a major trading center. Among Hellenistic Greek archaeological sites, Delos contains one of the highest concentrations of surviving mosaic artworks. Approximately half of all surviving tessellated Greek mosaics from the Hellenistic period come from Delos. Text from Wikpedia

“On the day of Pentecost all the believers were meeting together in one place. Suddenly, there was a sound from heaven like the roaring of a mighty windstorm, and it filled the house where they were sitting. Then, what looked like flames or tongues of fire appeared and settled on each of them. And everyone present was filled with the Holy Spirit and began speaking in other languages, as the Holy Spirit gave them this ability.
At that time there were devout Jews from every nation living in Jerusalem. When they heard the loud noise, everyone came running, and they were bewildered to hear their own languages being spoken by the believers. They were completely amazed. “How can this be?” they exclaimed. “These people are all from Galilee, and yet we hear them speaking in our own native languages! Here we are—Parthians, Medes, Elamites, people from Mesopotamia, Judea, Cappadocia, Pontus, the province of Asia, Phrygia, Pamphylia, Egypt, and the areas of Libya around Cyrene, visitors from Rome (both Jews and converts to Judaism), Cretans, and Arabs. And we all hear these people speaking in our own languages about the wonderful things God has done!”
They stood there amazed and perplexed. “What can this mean?” they asked each other. But others in the crowd ridiculed them, saying, “They’re just drunk, that’s all!” Then Peter stepped forward with the eleven other apostles and shouted to the crowd, “Listen carefully, all of you, fellow Jews and residents of Jerusalem! Make no mistake about this. These people are not drunk, as some of you are assuming. Nine o’clock in the morning is much too early for that.
No, what you see was predicted long ago by the prophet Joel: ‘In the last days,’ God says, ‘I will pour out my Spirit upon all people. Your sons and daughters will prophesy. Your young men will see visions, and your old men will dream dreams. In those days I will pour out my Spirit even on my servants—men and women alike— and they will prophesy. And I will cause wonders in the heavens above and signs on the earth below— blood and fire and clouds of smoke. The sun will become dark, and the moon will turn blood red before that great and glorious day of the Lord arrives. But everyone who calls on the name of the Lord will be saved.’” —Acts 2:1‭-‬21 (NLT)
“Pentecost” By George Koopmans (Today Devotional):
“There is an old saying that “Actions speak louder than words.” One of the students in the chaplaincy ministry at our college “oozes” the fruit of the Spirit. His kindness, gentleness, joy, and patience are clearly evident. As people see this, they are attracted to him, and opportunities to share his faith are multiplied. Another student frequently pours out her heart to the Lord in prayer as she pleads for the advancement of God’s kingdom.
The Spirit of God gave Jesus’ apostles the ability to speak in many languages on that day of Pentecost written about in Acts 2, and the same Spirit enables us to speak and to act in winsome ways today. Through the power of the Spirit, God’s kingdom is advancing, and he has called and equipped each of us to be his witnesses in whatever circumstances we may find ourselves.
Today we celebrate the gift of the Holy Spirit. But our celebration of Pentecost is not so much meant to be talked about as it is to be lived—in word and deed. By the power of the Spirit working through us, our words and fruit-filled actions are the tools God uses to build his kingdom.
Heavenly Father, thank you for the gift of the Spirit poured out on Jesus’ followers on that Pentecost day so long ago. Help us to live by the power of the Spirit today and every day. In Jesus’ name, Amen.”

9th May >> Mass Readings (Except USA)
Thursday before Ascension Sunday
And
The Ascension of the Lord - Mass of the Day.

Thursday before Ascension Sunday
(Liturgical Colour: White. Year: B(II))
First Reading Acts of the Apostles 18:1-8 Paul lodged with them and worked, and held debates in the synagogues.
Paul left Athens and went to Corinth, where he met a Jew called Aquila whose family came from Pontus. He and his wife Priscilla had recently left Italy because an edict of Claudius had expelled all the Jews from Rome. Paul went to visit them, and when he found they were tentmakers, of the same trade as himself, he lodged with them, and they worked together. Every sabbath he used to hold debates in the synagogues, trying to convert Jews as well as Greeks. After Silas and Timothy had arrived from Macedonia, Paul devoted all his time to preaching, declaring to the Jews that Jesus was the Christ. When they turned against him and started to insult him, he took his cloak and shook it out in front of them, saying, ‘Your blood be on your own heads; from now on I can go to the pagans with a clear conscience.’ Then he left the synagogue and moved to the house next door that belonged to a worshipper of God called Justus. Crispus, president of the synagogue, and his whole household, all became believers in the Lord. A great many Corinthians who had heard him became believers and were baptised.
The Word of the Lord
R/ Thanks be to God.
Responsorial Psalm Psalm 97(98):1-4
R/ The Lord has shown his salvation to the nations. or R/ Alleluia!
Sing a new song to the Lord for he has worked wonders. His right hand and his holy arm have brought salvation.
R/ The Lord has shown his salvation to the nations. or R/ Alleluia!
The Lord has made known his salvation; has shown his justice to the nations. He has remembered his truth and love for the house of Israel.
R/ The Lord has shown his salvation to the nations. or R/ Alleluia!
All the ends of the earth have seen the salvation of our God. Shout to the Lord, all the earth, ring out your joy.
R/ The Lord has shown his salvation to the nations. or R/ Alleluia!
Gospel Acclamation Romans 6:9
Alleluia, alleluia! Christ, having been raised from the dead, will never die again. Death has no power over him any more. Alleluia!
Or: cf. John 14:18
Alleluia, alleluia! I will not leave you orphans, says the Lord; I go, but I will come back to you, and your hearts will be full of joy. Alleluia!
Gospel John 16:16-20 You will be sorrowful, but your sorrow will turn to joy.
Jesus said to his disciples:
‘In a short time you will no longer see me, and then a short time later you will see me again.’
Then some of his disciples said to one another, ‘What does he mean, “In a short time you will no longer see me, and then a short time later you will see me again” and, “I am going to the Father”? What is this “short time”? We do not know what he means.’ Jesus knew that they wanted to question him, so he said, ‘You are asking one another what I meant by saying: In a short time you will no longer see me, and then a short time later you will see me again.
‘I tell you most solemnly, you will be weeping and wailing while the world will rejoice; you will be sorrowful, but your sorrow will turn to joy.’
The Gospel of the Lord
R/ Praise to you, Lord Jesus Christ.

The Ascension of the Lord
(Liturgical Colour: White. Year: B(II))
(These readings are for the day of the feast itself)
First Reading Acts of the Apostles 1:1-11 Jesus was lifted up while they looked on.
In my earlier work, Theophilus, I dealt with everything Jesus had done and taught from the beginning until the day he gave his instructions to the apostles he had chosen through the Holy Spirit, and was taken up to heaven. He had shown himself alive to them after his Passion by many demonstrations: for forty days he had continued to appear to them and tell them about the kingdom of God. When he had been at table with them, he had told them not to leave Jerusalem, but to wait there for what the Father had promised. ‘It is’ he had said ‘what you have heard me speak about: John baptised with water but you, not many days from now, will be baptised with the Holy Spirit.’
Now having met together, they asked him, ‘Lord, has the time come? Are you going to restore the kingdom to Israel?’ He replied, ‘It is not for you to know times or dates that the Father has decided by his own authority, but you will receive power when the Holy Spirit comes on you, and then you will be my witnesses not only in Jerusalem but throughout Judaea and Samaria, and indeed to the ends of the earth.’
As he said this he was lifted up while they looked on, and a cloud took him from their sight. They were still staring into the sky when suddenly two men in white were standing near them and they said, ‘Why are you men from Galilee standing here looking into the sky? Jesus who has been taken up from you into heaven, this same Jesus will come back in the same way as you have seen him go there.’
The Word of the Lord
R/ Thanks be to God.
Responsorial Psalm Psalm 46(47):2-3,6-9
R/ God goes up with shouts of joy; the Lord goes up with trumpet blast. or R/ Alleluia!
All peoples, clap your hands, cry to God with shouts of joy! For the Lord, the Most High, we must fear, great king over all the earth.
R/ God goes up with shouts of joy; the Lord goes up with trumpet blast. or R/ Alleluia!
God goes up with shouts of joy; the Lord goes up with trumpet blast. Sing praise for God, sing praise, sing praise to our king, sing praise.
R/ God goes up with shouts of joy; the Lord goes up with trumpet blast. or R/ Alleluia!
God is king of all the earth, sing praise with all your skill. God is king over the nations; God reigns on his holy throne.
R/ God goes up with shouts of joy; the Lord goes up with trumpet blast. or R/ Alleluia!
Second Reading Ephesians 4:1-13 We are all to come to unity, fully mature in the knowledge of the Son of God.
I, the prisoner in the Lord, implore you to lead a life worthy of your vocation. Bear with one another charitably, in complete selflessness, gentleness and patience. Do all you can to preserve the unity of the Spirit by the peace that binds you together. There is one Body, one Spirit, just as you were all called into one and the same hope when you were called. There is one Lord, one faith, one baptism, and one God who is Father of all, over all, through all and within all. Each one of us, however, has been given his own share of grace, given as Christ allotted it. It was said that he would:
When he ascended to the height, he captured prisoners, he gave gifts to men.
When it says, ‘he ascended’, what can it mean if not that he descended right down to the lower regions of the earth? The one who rose higher than all the heavens to fill all things is none other than the one who descended. And to some, his gift was that they should be apostles; to some, prophets; to some, evangelists; to some, pastors and teachers; so that the saints together make a unity in the work of service, building up the body of Christ. In this way we are all to come to unity in our faith and in our knowledge of the Son of God, until we become the perfect Man, fully mature with the fullness of Christ himself.
The Word of the Lord
R/ Thanks be to God.
Gospel Acclamation Matthew 28:19,20
Alleluia, alleluia! Go, make disciples of all the nations. I am with you always; yes, to the end of time. Alleluia!
Gospel Mark 16:15-20 Go out to the whole world; proclaim the Good News.
Jesus showed himself to the Eleven and said to them: ‘Go out to the whole world; proclaim the Good News to all creation. He who believes and is baptised will be saved; he who does not believe will be condemned. These are the signs that will be associated with believers: in my name they will cast out devils; they will have the gift of tongues; they will pick up snakes in their hands, and be unharmed should they drink deadly poison; they will lay their hands on the sick, who will recover.’
And so the Lord Jesus, after he had spoken to them, was taken up into heaven: there at the right hand of God he took his place, while they, going out, preached everywhere, the Lord working with them and confirming the word by the signs that accompanied it.
The Gospel of the Lord
R/ Praise to you, Lord Jesus Christ.

A castle, a reward for services rendered
Tumblr media
Läckö Castle (Läckö slott in Swedish) is a Baroque mansion known for having been from 1615 the residence of Marshal Jacob Pontusson De la Gardie, a descendant of the French diplomat Pontus De la Gardie, who served Denmark and Sweden in the 16th century.
The construction of the castle on the shores of Lake Vänern began in 1298, when the Bishop of Skara Brynolf Algotsson laid the foundations of a fortified castle, although at that time it was probably no more than a promontory surrounded by rather simple buildings. Its importance lay in the fact that it was strategically located in the middle of his diocese.
When the Lutheran Reformation came to Sweden, the castle was seized from the Church and in 1527 it became a possession of the Crown under Gustav I Eriksson, the architect of Sweden's independence in 1523. It would later be known as Gustav Vasa, incorporating the family name, in reference to his coat of arms.
Jacob Pontusson's son, Magnus Gabriel, was only 30 years old when he took over his father's title and estates in the mid-17th century. He began an extensive extension of Läckö Castle, and the present building is essentially the result of his renovation.
During his lifetime, Magnus Gabriel Pontusson De la Gardie became the governor of the kingdom, accumulating the highest civil and military offices and leading Sweden into a warmongering policy that impoverished the country.
In the 18th century, Läckö Castle eventually reverted back to the Crown and was granted to Count Carl Gustaf Tessin in 1752, a diplomat and ambassador and also protector of the scientist Carl von Linné.
In 1810, the Crown again awarded the castle, this time to General Carl Johan Adlercreutz, who had led several war campaigns against Russia since the end of the 18th century and was the leader of a coup d'état in which he attempted to crown himself king. However, another candidate took the crown under the name of Karl XIII in 1809. Läckö was perhaps the consolation prize.
Today, Läckö slott is part of the Swedish national heritage and the castle courtyard hosts opera performances during the summer.

Do you have any headcanons of Nyx's kids for a starving mutual? 🙏🙏🙏
goshh i don't really think that much about them except for Styx and Thanatos T-T
looking through my tag though,, i actually haven't written my hc's for Styx, just briefly in Pallas' section of my younger titans hc post :o
anyways. i know u were probably hoping for something like Hypnos and the gang,, but my brain is numb so i hope this suffices:
STYX
i know that the usual tradition is that Styx is a daughter of Oceanus and Tethys, but personally, i think it makes more sense for her to be a daughter of Nyx and Erebus because she's a river running through the underworld which, as we all know, is the home for pretty much all of Nyx's family.
also, Oceanus already has like 3000+ kids so it's not a big deal hahhahaha
anyhow, i think Styx is mostly a very serious goddess. it's not like she's grumpy or anything, but she's a realist.
she knows how to laugh, and she can take a joke-- whether she's on the dishing end or receiving end.
but most of the time, she's very sensible and proper. i think this makes sense because she's the one who oaths are sworn upon. her name is invoked only in the most sacred of times,, so there should be an aura of regality and seriousness about her.
i like the idea that pretty much all of Nyx's kids are tough, and pretty good in a fight-- most of Nyx's children represent the tougher aspects of life (strife, pain, death, etc.), and even though Styx herself isn't primarily a fighter, i think her being a warrior-type reinforces the idea that she's unrelenting; as an oath should be.
now, i don't think any of the other rivers are given any spouses, but Styx is mostly said to be the wife of Pallas (son of the titan Crius, and Gaia's daughter Eurybia by Pontus), and i don't have any issues with that pairing.
i feel that Pallas has a very similar personality to Styx, so they get along really well.
as a pairing, i think they'd be one of the older couples in the second gen. titan group, and kind of like the "parents", the Oceanus & Tethys, of the younger titans.
in some accounts, Styx and Zeus have an intimate relationship, but my version of Styx i think is wayy too sensible for Zeus. i think that by the time Zeus was ready to take on the throne, she'd have already been married to Pallas for sometime. and since she's the oathkeeper, it doesn't make sense that she'd cheat.
nevertheless, i do think that Styx would have been pretty keen to support Zeus against Kronos, and that's why Zeus had a lot of respect for her and rewarded her kindly (as he did for all the titans who helped) by giving her such an important role in his kingdom.. though i also feel he may have done that to win points with Nyx (he's a king- everything's political).
one last note- relating to my comparison of Styx and Pallas with Tethys and Oceanus, i really love the idea of Styx being one of the goddesses to have been part of the whole Prometheus-Zeus falling-out.
specifically, i think that after Prometheus got chained to the mountain, Styx was the one who was with Hesione (Prometheus' wife) and Deucalion, and that she opened her home to Hesione..
being a daughter of Nyx, i think Styx and Pallas live in the Underworld, and since the Underworld is part of Hades' domain and not Zeus', i think it's important that Hesione would stay in a place far from Zeus, and in a safe place. but i don't want to go on a tangent and start talking about Hesione so ill leave it there😊
THANATOS
ok, i've actually talked about Thanatos loads: hc #1, hc #2 but he's kind of awesome so i'll talk a little more :-)))
i've said time and time again that Thanatos is THE funny guy around the Underworld. i just can't imagine anybody else. he's a riot to be around.
this is important to me because, while i do think of him as some sort of "leader" of the death gods, he is also closely linked with peaceful death. so i think that he would not want to come across as scary and terrifying, but just another guy.
also, i think that him being so jovial emphasises the idea that no one really understands the gift of life as he who takes it away. i mean, he's an immortal, but he witnesses mortal life every day and he knows how fleeting time is.
Hesiod calls Thanatos cold-hearted and hateful, and i do like the idea that the other gods tend to seem him that way,, but those who know him, like Hades and Hermes, have a bit of a different idea of him.
of course, like death, Thanatos is indifferent- he never really cares what others say about him or to him.. he's sort of immovable in that way. you wouldn't be able to anger him very easily.
but he can get angry.. i like the idea of him sort of disliking most of the Olympians. in particular, i think he doesn't like Zeus very much because Zeus is always putting people up in the constellations or letting some heroes get special treatment and becoming gods, etc. and i think Thanatos feels like maybe it should be a little more impartial. of course, Thanatos also believes in order, and as such, i don't think he'd ever betray Zeus.
something not very relevant to this, but a little more relevant to my point about Thanatos being really fun is that i think he calls Hades "the H-Man", or "boss man", or just something really silly ((he says it with utmost respect though!!!))
i think he'd only call Hades "King" about really serious things, but mostly he's really chill, and Hades kinda digs it. it makes him feel cool.
i loveee the idea of Persephone being in the Underworld for the first time and hearing Thanatos call Hades "H-Man" and having no idea whom Thanatos is referring to because Hades is such a stern guy and there's no way he'd let someone call him that lmfaoo
anyways so yeah :-) nothing really new,, but ahaha i hope u enjoyed :)

#DailyDevotion Jesus Is King Who Rules From Everlasting
Tumblr media
#DailyDevotion Jesus Is King Who Rules From Everlasting Psalm 93 The LORD is King! He is clothed with majesty. The Lord dresses in power, fastening His belt. The world also was made to stand firm and can't be moved. It is written in Deut. 32, “5And He was King in Jeshurun when their leaders were gathered and the tribes of Israel were united.” Jeshurun is a symbolic name for Israel which is upright which it never fulfilled. Moses recalls the covenant between the LORD and Israel at Mt. Sinai where the LORD became Israel's King. Now, the LORD is King. That is Jesus is the LORD who is King. That is what the Holy Spirit inspired Pontus Pilate to put above Jesus' head when He was crucified. Of course, Jesus didn't remain dead. He rose from the dead and ascended into heaven at the right hand of God. In Hebrews 1:8 it is written of Jesus, “But to the Son He says: Your throne, O God, is forever and ever, and You rule Your kingdom with a scepter of righteousness.” In Acts 2 Peter says, “34David didn't go up to heaven, but he says: 'The Lord says to my Lord, “Sit at My right 35until I make Your enemies Your footstool.” 36“Then all the people of Israel should know it's true that God made Him Lord and Christ — this Jesus Whom you crucified.” So the Psalm here says, the LORD is King and He is clothed with majesty. Jesus is this LORD. He dresses in power fastening His belt. All power, honor, glory and might belong to our ascended LORD. It is Jesus who preserves the world by His power and might. 2Long ago Your throne was made to stand firm — You are from everlasting. Jesus' throne was made to stand firm before creation. His throne is from everlasting. He humbled Himself to come down from His throne to become man to save humanity from their sins and from death. Now He has brought His humanity with Him to the right hand of the Father and is seated again upon His throne forever. In baptism, our humanity is joined with His and we too, even now, are seated with Him in the heavenly places. (Eph. 2) From this throne Jesus rules with an iron rod and will judge the nations who oppose His reign. 3O LORD, the rivers make a noise; the rivers make their roaring noise; the rivers make a crashing noise 4but more than the noise of vast waters and mightier than the waves of the sea is the might of the LORD above! You should really watch a video on Youtube of a large shipping ship in a storm at sea. These ships are huge but on the ocean they are no more that a toy ship in your bathtub as they are thrown about. Yet this very same LORD walked upon the stormy sea. He commanded the wind and the waves to be still. As mighty as the seas are they are a mere toy to the majesty and power of our LORD Jesus Christ. The stormy seas are often used as a symbol for the politics of the world. Jesus' power and might guide the nations to their conclusion of providing for His Church, the gathering of His people from every language, nation, tribe and people and judging the nations who try to rebel against Him. They do not win. The might of Jesus is above all. 5The truths You wrote are absolutely trustworthy. In Your temple, O LORD, holiness is beautiful forever. The Word of the LORD which He gave to His prophets and apostles are absolutely trustworthy. All of His promises come to pass. We are the temple of the LORD in whom His holiness is beautiful forever. So He is constantly purifying us in this life to make us holy. Heavenly Father, Your power, honor, glory and might is demonstrated and seen in Your Son, Jesus Christ. May we put our trust in Him forever. In Jesus' name we pray. Amen. Read the full article

Today we also celebrate our Venerable Father Nikon the Preacher of Repentance. Saint Nikon Metanoeite was born at Pontus Polemoniacus at the beginning of the tenth century. He was the son of a wealthy landowner, and he was given the name Nicetas in Baptism. Since he had no desire to take over the management of his family’s wealth and estates, Nicetas entered the monastery of Chrysopetro, where he shone forth in prayer and asceticism. When he received the monastic tonsure, he was given the new name Nikon. Saint Nikon had a remarkable gift for preaching. His words produced such spiritual fruit in those who heard him that he was asked to travel through the eastern regions to preach. He visited Armenia, Crete, Euboea, Aegina, and the Peloponnesus. “Repent, for the Kingdom of Heaven is at hand.” Wherever he went, he would begin his sermons with “Repent,” hence he was called “Nikon Metanoeite,” or “Preacher of Repentance.” At first, people paid little heed to his message. Then gradually he won their hearts through his preaching, his miracles, and his gentle, loving nature. He stressed the necessity for everyone to repent, warning that those who utter a few sighs and groans and think that they have achieved true repentance have deluded themselves. Saint Nikon told the people that true sorrow for one’s sins is cultivated by prayer, self-denial, almsgiving, ascetical efforts, and by confession to one’s spiritual Father. After sowing the seeds of piety, Saint Nikon began to see them bear fruit. People started to change their lives, but he urged them to strengthen their souls in virtue and good works so that they would not be overwhelmed by the cares of this world. Eventually, Saint Nikon settled in a cave outside Sparta. Soon he moved into the city, because so many people were coming to hear him. In the center of Sparta, he built a church dedicated to Christ the Savior. In time a monastery grew up around the church. May he intercede for us always + Source: https://www.oca.org/saints/lives/2022/11/26/103800-venerable-nikon-metanoeite-the-preacher-of-repentance (at Sparta, Greece) https://www.instagram.com/p/Clae6YtDSqI/?igshid=NGJjMDIxMWI=

This fluffy headed wild flower is the Hemp Agrimony (Eupatorium cannabinum). This plant is native to most of Eurasia and it is a generous food source for pollinators in August. The plant has been used in traditional herbal medicine as an anti inflammatory.
In addition, there’s a curious story about the origin of the Latin name... the genus name pays homage to the ancient king Mithridates VI of Pontus, otherwise known as Eupator Dionysius (132BC - 63BC). King Eupator Dionysius was a poison collector and expert in herbal medicine who was paranoid about being poisoned. To make himself immune to poisons, the king “micro-dosed” with a variety of different poisons daily. When his kingdom fell to the Romans, the king tried to take his own life with poison - which unfortunately didn’t work! The story says that the king asked his loyal guard to finish the deed.
This story is an ironic example of “seemed like a good idea at the time”.

Character Intro: Gaia (Kingdom of Ichor)
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
Nicknames- Mother Earth, Mother of All, The Great Goddess by the people in Olympius
Mother of Trouble by Zeus
Age- mid to late 60's (immortal)
Location- Meteora, Olympius
Personality- Gaia is an overwhelming force. She's very sensitive to the planet and all the living things that inhabit it. She's extremely proud and powerful as a deity, but she can also be manipulative. She has worked a great deal to manage her explosive anger. Even though she's the personification of the earth itself, Gaia (as far as a century ago) has presented herself in a humanoid form.
Because she's the literal earth itself, Gaia (in her humanoid form) is extremely environmentally conscious, frowning upon and raging against all forms of pollution. She's very much a vegan.
Her natural scent is usually that of fresh dirt, but it can also vary from wet leaves to sweet treep sap.
As a primordial deity, Gaia's powers & abilities exceed that of all the Gods and Titans in the pantheon. She's a formidable warrior in battle. Aside from Apate (goddess of fraud & deception), she's Zeus' greatest threat. Her abilities include being able to communicate with all the plants & animals, aerokinesis, all forms of chlorokinesis, atmokinesis, biokinesis, ferrokinesis (manipulating all metals), various forms of geokinesis (far more powerful than Hades & Demeter; has a finely tuned seismic sense as well, terraportation, vitakinesis (healing), photokinesis, granting immortality to others, and shapeshifting into/communicating with any living creature, including her sacred animals (like a serpent, swine, bull, and bee, etc...).
She's not in contact with most people from the "old days", though she sometimes keeps in touch with the hecatonchires, Geras (god of old age), & the three blacksmithing cyclopes- enjoying Brontes' sense of humor. Gaia definitely has deep rooted conflicted feelings about her son Kronos (Titan god of the harvest, time, & fate) being imprisoned in Tartarus. She's also not in contact with her other sons, Oceanus (Titan god of the sea) and Krios (Titan god of stars & constellations). She also has a daughter, Eurybia (goddess of the sea's mastery) that she's also not in communication with. Gaia has met her grandsons Zeus (god of the sky, thunder, & lightning), Hades (god of the dead), and Poseidon (god of the sea & earthquake) exactly three times. She remembers being "entirely underwhelmed by the lot of them." She doesn't have much of a relationship with her many, many great-grandchildren. A former lover of hers was the faded sea god Pontus, where her daughter Eurybia and son Thaumas (god of sea wonders) was born from. A collection of children from Gaia alone is The Ourea (esteemed mountain gods) who she doesn't really have a relationship with.
A "nice" thing she thinks she's done was when she gifted Hera (goddess of women & marriage); her granddaughter-in-law with THE wedding gift- the Garden of the Hesperides. A tree nearly 10 stories tall sprouts golden apples- the "apples of immortality."
Gaia's favorite colors are green, blue, and brown.
She loves snacking on raw sugarcane!
There's a sandwich at The Bread Box that's inspired by her aptly called "The Green Goddess"- it's a toasted multigrain baguette with shredded lettuce, cabbage, and edamame with sweet green peppers, slices of sundried tomatoes, fresh basil, arugula, and melted mozzarella cheese with a vegan olive oil mayo & a garlic aioli.
Even though she prefers walking barefoot, Gaia's prefered footwear are sandals and espradrille flats.
While in her humanoid form, she lives in a sprawling estate in Meteora, surrounded by a lush green meadow with shimmering waterfalls. Neighboring dryads, centaurs, harpies, satyrs, and oreads stop by often. She has almost every animal known to man as a pet, including some griffins, pegasi, & hippogriffs. She even has a dragon- a girl named Gwyndern that has bright teal and pale yellow scales!
Gaia has winding tattoos of leaves covered vines all over her arms, legs, and back.
Her go-to drink is a blackberry sage black tea, but she also enjoys coconut water, pineapple juice, infused waters, iced green tea, orange juice, and aloe vera juice.
Her favorite desserts from Hollyhock’s Bakery include carrot cake, hummingbird cake, & peanut butter-chocolate chip oatmeal cookies.
Some of her favorite meals are the brown rice medley (which includes grilled tempeh, kimchi, & peanut sauce), baked falafel sandwiches (with extra vegan olive oil mayo), sesame soba noodles (added with cucumbers, sauteed mushrooms, shaved cabbage & carrots), stuffed roasted bell peppers (with quinoa, zucchini, & tofu sausage), and veggie black bean enchiladas.
Gaia has several businesses throughout the country including her own chain of zoos, specialized schools as it pertains to certain fields, like zoology and botany, and she owns the largest fertility clinic- which has been visited by a few goddesses who wanted to have a child strictly on their own. Gaia even has her own line of honey (Bee Happy Honey), a line of botanical vodka, as well as a line of vegan food products (Earthly Harvest) that's sold in grocery stores and supermarkets nationwide.
Aside from Pan (god of the wild, satyrs, shepherds, & rustic music) and maybe Hestia (goddess of the hearth), Gaia doesn't really concern herself with money or material possessions. All the money that is made through her several businesses, she gives away. Whether it's by donating through various charities, overpaying her many employees, or randomly giving strangers several stacks of money.
Gaia has been an official mentor several times- mentoring Méli (goddess of bees & honey), Tithonus (god of insects), as well as the seasonal goddesses- Thallo (goddess of spring & new growth), Auxo (goddess of summer, vegetation, & plants), and Carpo (goddess of autumn & fruits). She's also in talks of being the official mentor to Physis (goddess of nature).
In her down time, which is often, Gaia loves hosting recycling drives. She also runs an anger management group weekly. She LOVES being outdoors doing all sorts of activities, whether it's something as simple as walking on the earth's soft soil barefoot, or hiking, archery, fruit picking, gardening, mountain climbing, surfing, kayaking, or paragliding.
She hates the way she's portrayed in The Dynasty of the Vain and Powerful. Gaia once bought up every single copy of the complete series on DVD from every store in New Olympus & started a massive bonfire, engulfing every single copy. She invited all her neighbors and it turned into this grand campfire party, where they all roasted vegan marshmallows. Though she did note that the show's special effects were "exceptional."
Gaia has had her fair share of lovers with a current one being a recent retiree, a mortal man named Pyrros who shepherds a small farm.
As a show of their appreciation, all of Gaia's employees pooled their money together and got her a gift- a gorgeous bee shaped brooch that included a white freshwater pearl and encrusted with yellow and black diamonds. She keeps it in frame hung up on her wall.
"The biggest bitch isn't mother nature. It's me! Ha!"

Project Earthbridge and P Thorne Sommarn presents: 2011
The first single in Project Earthbridge’s native Swedish tongue, and is about that unforgettable summer which sometimes left a lifelong impression.
Tumblr media
Regardless of whether this summer was experienced during the teenage years, or later in life, we believe that many people can identify with the desire to return to that time in their lives, and the gratitude for having had the privilege to experience it, as expressed in the following lines:
Våra hjärtan brann (Our hearts burned)
En magisk sommar (A magical summer)
Bortom älven som rann (Beyond the river that flowed)
Ut i det förgångna (Into the past)
Våra hjärtan brann (Our hearts burned)
Genom sorg och tvivel (Through sorrow and doubt)
Lyckan vi fann (The happiness we found)
Bär oss genom livet (Carries us through life)
youtube
Project Earthbridge consists of the Swedish duo Jimmy Granstrom (music and/or lyrics) and Thomas Karlsson (music/production) as well as invited collaborator(s), which will vary between songs.
Project Earthbridge's songs have been played on the radio in 12 countries on five continents. The singles "Alicia" and "Made Of Stars" were selected for rotation on P4 Sörmland, which is a major Swedish radio station equivalent to a regional BBC radio station in the United Kingdom. The latest release "United We Stand As One" features P Thorne (Pontus Thörne Gruvell) on vocals, with 16-year old Eli Tronic (Elias Lunde) as the main producer. The song is primarily about the war in Ukraine, and how the world came together to support the invaded nation. It was released on December 5 2023, and has already been played on the radio in Australia, France, Italy, Mexico, Peru, Uganda, Costa Rica, Sweden, Arizona and on KSWV Radio Shockwave in San Diego, California as of May 11 2024.

19th May >> Mass Readings (Except USA)
Pentecost Sunday
(Liturgical Colour: Red. Year: B(II))
First Reading Acts of the Apostles 2:1-11 They were all filled with the Holy Spirit and began to speak.
When Pentecost day came round, they had all met in one room, when suddenly they heard what sounded like a powerful wind from heaven, the noise of which filled the entire house in which they were sitting; and something appeared to them that seemed like tongues of fire; these separated and came to rest on the head of each of them. They were all filled with the Holy Spirit, and began to speak foreign languages as the Spirit gave them the gift of speech. Now there were devout men living in Jerusalem from every nation under heaven, and at this sound they all assembled, each one bewildered to hear these men speaking his own language. They were amazed and astonished. ‘Surely’ they said ‘all these men speaking are Galileans? How does it happen that each of us hears them in his own native language? Parthians, Medes and Elamites; people from Mesopotamia, Judaea and Cappadocia, Pontus and Asia, Phrygia and Pamphylia, Egypt and the parts of Libya round Cyrene; as well as visitors from Rome – Jews and proselytes alike – Cretans and Arabs; we hear them preaching in our own language about the marvels of God.’
The Word of the Lord
R/ Thanks be to God.
Responsorial Psalm Psalm 103(104):1,24,29-31,34
R/ Send forth your spirit, O Lord, and renew the face of the earth. or R/ Alleluia!
Bless the Lord, my soul! Lord God, how great you are, How many are your works, O Lord! The earth is full of your riches.
R/ Send forth your spirit, O Lord, and renew the face of the earth. or R/ Alleluia!
You take back your spirit, they die, returning to the dust from which they came. You send forth your spirit, they are created; and you renew the face of the earth.
R/ Send forth your spirit, O Lord, and renew the face of the earth. or R/ Alleluia!
May the glory of the Lord last for ever! May the Lord rejoice in his works! May my thoughts be pleasing to him. I find my joy in the Lord.
R/ Send forth your spirit, O Lord, and renew the face of the earth. or R/ Alleluia!
Second Reading Galatians 5:16-25 If you are led by the Spirit, no law can touch you.
If you are guided by the Spirit you will be in no danger of yielding to self-indulgence, since self-indulgence is the opposite of the Spirit, the Spirit is totally against such a thing, and it is precisely because the two are so opposed that you do not always carry out your good intentions. If you are led by the Spirit, no law can touch you. When self-indulgence is at work the results are obvious: fornication, gross indecency and sexual irresponsibility; idolatry and sorcery; feuds and wrangling, jealousy, bad temper and quarrels; disagreements, factions, envy; drunkenness, orgies and similar things. I warn you now, as I warned you before: those who behave like this will not inherit the kingdom of God. What the Spirit brings is very different: love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, trustfulness, gentleness and self-control. There can be no law against things like that, of course. You cannot belong to Christ Jesus unless you crucify all self-indulgent passions and desires. Since the Spirit is our life, let us be directed by the Spirit.
The Word of the Lord
R/ Thanks be to God.
Sequence Veni, sancte Spiritus
Holy Spirit, Lord of Light, From the clear celestial height Thy pure beaming radiance give.
Come, thou Father of the poor, Come with treasures which endure Come, thou light of all that live!
Thou, of all consolers best, Thou, the soul’s delightful guest, Dost refreshing peace bestow
Thou in toil art comfort sweet Pleasant coolness in the heat Solace in the midst of woe.
Light immortal, light divine, Visit thou these hearts of thine, And our inmost being fill:
If thou take thy grace away, Nothing pure in man will stay All his good is turned to ill.
Heal our wounds, our strength renew On our dryness pour thy dew Wash the stains of guilt away:
Bend the stubborn heart and will Melt the frozen, warm the chill Guide the steps that go astray.
Thou, on us who evermore Thee confess and thee adore, With thy sevenfold gifts descend:
Give us comfort when we die Give us life with thee on high Give us joys that never end.
Gospel Acclamation
Alleluia, alleluia! Come, Holy Spirit, fill the hearts of your faithful and kindle in them the fire of your love. Alleluia!
Gospel John 15:26-27,16:12-15 The Spirit of truth will lead you to the complete truth.
Jesus said to his disciples:
‘When the Advocate comes, whom I shall send to you from the Father, the Spirit of truth who issues from the Father, he will be my witness. And you too will be witnesses, because you have been with me from the outset.
‘I still have many things to say to you but they would be too much for you now. But when the Spirit of truth comes he will lead you to the complete truth, since he will not be speaking as from himself but will say only what he has learnt; and he will tell you of the things to come. He will glorify me, since all he tells you will be taken from what is mine. Everything the Father has is mine; that is why I said: All he tells you will be taken from what is mine.’
The Gospel of the Lord
R/ Praise to you, Lord Jesus Christ.
