Chris & Cosey's melodic side and one of Andy Weatherall's favourites. This is an extract rom Danny Rampling reminiscing about Weatherall in The Wire, Danny Rampling is talking about the first time he saw Andrew Weatherall DJ, which was probably so time in 1987

"I was just blown away by the music, all the different sounds that Andrew was playing, really eclectic. The one that really stood out was Chris & Cosey’s “October (Love Song)” [1983]. I’d never heard that track before. It was a real moment. This whole thing had been going on all night and Andrew, for breakfast, served up this. That was the same morning, I asked Andrew to come to play Shoom. A lot happened that morning, but [that] Chris & Cosey [track]: you can really hear the influences – apart from Throbbing Gristle, whom Andrew loved – you can really hear those influences throughout the production history of Andrew’s music. I treasure that song. It’s a wonderful electronic/industrial song. It still sounds good in the present. He gave me a copy of it. I’ve still got it at home. That is the record for me that epitomises Andrew and which will remind me of Andrew eternally.

Did he play it at Shoom when he came?

Yes, he did, yeah. It was an Andrew favourite. And then I started playing it at Shoom. I gave him the credit, that this is an Andrew record, which it was."

I'm back in Hull this week visiting friends and family and the bus service here is an absolute joke. I've been in interchange since 10:40 waiting for the 14, due at 10:50. There's an empty bus just parked in the bay I need, no sign of driver. Departure board changes to 11:05. A 14 pulls into a neighbouring bay, the driver tells me this bus isn't in service and is actually the 11:20 service which has been cancelled.

Finally, a driver arrives and gets in the parked bus, after waiting 35 minutes for a bus that's supposedly every 10 minutes. I get ready to board. The cunt switches it to not in service and fucks off. Another 14 pulls in the bay shortly after. "Hooray!" I think. "I can visit my dad!". Only the driver gets off the bus, leaving it parked in the bay. In the end, I rang my dad to come pick me up.

My god I miss Manchester's comprehensive public transport.

Dancing Ghosts is from Elemental 7 which was originally released on VHS by Cabaret Voltaire's Doublevision video label in September 1983. Up to this point Doublevision had released the self-titled debut video for Cararet Voltaire, their follow-up film Johnny Yesno, and a compilation of two live performances by Chris & Cosey's former group Throbbing Gristle

Doublevision released the soundtrack to Elemental 7, also under the Creative Technology Institute (CTI) name, the following year. The standout track is Dancing Ghosts, which features John Lacey who had been a member of COUM Transmissions (in Throbbing Gristle mythology he's the fella who introduced GPO to CFT), and it's a firm fan favourite
