“There won’t be much prey stirring after your little performance. […] There’s no need to talk to me as if I’m mouse-brained. I know the forest better than you! […] You should pay attention. That is, if you want to learn the skills that a leader will need.”
Leaf is a black-and-white tom with amber eyes.

Chicken Pot Pie! :D
this is an actual recipe, but I have not tested it so have no idea if its good.
Ingredients
1 tbsp. olive oil
1 1/2 lb. bone-in, skin-on chicken thighs
Kosher salt and freshly ground black pepper
1/2 yellow onion, chopped
2 carrots, chopped
2 stalks celery, chopped
1 tsp. fresh thyme
1/4 c. all-purpose flour
2 c. chicken stock
1/4 c. dry white wine
1 c. frozen peas
1/4 c. fresh flat-leaf parsley
1 (14-ounce) package all-butter puff pastry
1 large egg, beaten
Directions
Step 1Preheat oven to 425°F. Heat a large cast-iron skillet over medium-high heat. Add oil. Season chicken with salt and pepper. Cook, skin sides down, until golden brown and crisp, 6 to 8 minutes. Flip chicken and transfer skillet to the oven. Cook, until the internal temperature of the thickest thigh registers 165°F on an instant-read thermometer, 12 to 14 minutes. Transfer to a cutting board. Discard skins and bones, and chop chicken.
Step 2Place skillet over medium-high heat. Add onion, carrots, celery, and thyme. Season with salt and pepper. Cook, stirring occasionally, just until crisp-tender, 3 to 4 minutes. Add flour and cook, stirring, 30 seconds. Slowly stir in stock and wine. Bring to a boil. Reduce to a simmer and cook, stirring occasionally, until thickened, 4 to 6 minutes. Remove from heat. Stir in chicken, peas, and parsley.
Step 3Cut puff pastry into a circle 1 inch larger than the outside rim of a cast-iron pie plate. (You may need to roll the dough on a lightly floured work surface to get it to size.) Place pie plate on a rimmed baking sheet. Transfer filling to pie plate and top with puff pastry; crimp edges. Brush puff pastry with egg. Bake, until golden brown, puffed, and cooked through, 20 to 25 minutes.

in your anthro au, does bramble actually make it to canada? is the plotline of the lake territory scrapped for something else?
rambled quite a bit here!
no, they dont make it to canada. they abandoned that idea after feather was killed. instead her funeral and burial is held in california by her dying wish and her family drives/flies over. graystripe and mosspelt took feather's car, but mosspelt flies back home via plane. graystripe is staying wirh storm indefinitely and eventually meets millie.
with storm's blessing, bramble, tawny, crow, and squirrel take the van back home. tawny is dropped off on the way, but crow insists on tagging along to thunder because he's not ready to be alone yet. his family is pretty small and he's not sure his parents will be able to help much, as much as they may try.
dodging the draft can get you into trouble, but there are many that got off scot free and bramble was one pf those lucky fellows (especially with firestar's involvement. he made sure bramble wouldn't have it held against him in return for keeping squirrel safe and bringing her home). firestar was furious at both bramble and squirrel but he's not cruel and unsympathetic, especially considering they just lost a very close friend (and that gray isnt coming back for a while).
this is where crow and leaf meet, crow is kinda bunking with bramble at his place and even had plans to move in for good. his parents were pretty combative but couldnt do much since he was a few states away!!! they dont know where the fuck thunder-whatever is. but eventually he gets a call about his father's rapidly declining health and immediately abandons his plans to stay. he asks leaf to come with him but leaf still isn't finished with med school (she doesn't know she's pregnant yet) and they part ways. crow makes it home to help ashfoot care for deadfoot in his final few months and fills in after his father dies. it's something he didnt plan to continue but its notnlike he HATES doing the work. eventually meets+marries nightcloud a 1-4 yrs later
leaf meanwhile continues med school. being unmarried with kids is still a social taboo, especially at such a young age (im imagining she and squirrel are around 18-19 by now, 17 during the road trip). squirrel and bramble, however, had been in a relationship with one another for a while after coming back home. sure, it got a bit messy when ashfur came back from vietnam and got a bit too close to squirrel for comfort, but they sorta resolved it and eventually bramble/squirrel got engaged. leaf confided in squirrel for her help with the pregnancy and squirrel immediately offered to take the children in as her own if leaf needed. it was a huge jump but leaf took the offer. bramble was let in on the plan the closer leaf got to her due date. he thought it was a very impulsive decision and they fought a bit about making the decision without him but he was enthusiastic about being a father regardless.
the others in town had their suspicions but dont ask dont tell.
theres some other parts i havent fully ironed out yet like where hawkfrost and mothwint come in.
as for the actual lake territories, they coexist with the forest territories by just being in different states LOL windclan and thunderclan's territory was pretty consistent in terms of The Basics so theyre mostly in the same general area (tc is east coast forests, wc is southwest-midwest prairies. theres a lot of cowboys, farmers, and ranchers in "windclan" as a result). shadowclan i can see being in the southern swamps, especially florida or louisiana, and riverclan is kinda interspersed alont the mississippi and ohio rivers. maybe a few along the east coast, too, as the lake territory equivalent. skyclan is probably in the rockies or the redwood forests out west. maybeeee old skyclan is in the appalachias???? idk LOL since the cats are so far apaer now the conflicts are a little less wide scale and more personal if rhat makes any sense at all. of course this whole au is a huge work in progress so some of what i say here may change!
the clans are rural/small/poor towns in my head. tight knit communities that have to rely on each other. kittypets are urban/suburbanites as a contrast and keep the 'kittypets r fucjing spoiled' theme going . you inow the city slicker junk LOL
bloodclan is probably a gang in new york. at least scourge's bloodclan. the other iterations are probably in other huge metropolitan cities. idk what warriorclan is, and the tribe is a whole can of worms im trying to be very careful with so im not gonna talk about them as a whole quite yet other than imply they exist

I'll start over lol, legacy naming can be fine if done well but i don't think it has. Hollytuft + Sibs appeared to us as adults so we don't get to know about them. Cinderheart was cute until we had the whole "shes actually cinderpelt lmao" moment. The two Mouses and Leafs just had no excuse to be there. And if I was Ivypool and my kid died I would NOT want some random cat immediately naming their daughter after her. Isn't that kind of traumatizing? I got rid of all legacy namings that occur -
in cats younger than Holly in my AVOS/TBC allegiances and in my rewriting exercise I'm making Sparkpaw just be really obsessed with being Firestar's kin so her eventual naming of Flamekit makes a bit more sense. At least I can excuse 4 Robinwings to the Erin's forgetting they all existing(not a valid excuse tho imo), having two Frecklewishes is just insane. Was literally nothing else an option? Frecklesong, Freckletuft, Frecklemint? I've also noticed stuff from the beginning like having a semi - prominent Ashfur in Into The Wild's ShadowClan then immediately having Ashkit/(fur) in Fire and Ice's ThunderClan. At the very least, literary-wise, it feels like too much repeating too quickly. I'm not against two Bobs existing at the same time but still…I've actually put down a good fic because they named literally everyone in TC after a dead cat and I got annoyed lol. Names were like, Ferndust Bluestorm Frostheart etc
TV Tropes has a trope relevant to this: One-Steve Limit. While it's very common for people to share names in the real world, in fiction it's avoided to make things easier on your readers/viewers and prevent repetitiveness. The point of not sharing names is for each character to stand out on their own; often when there are multiples of one name (for example, Heather in "Heathers"), there's a reason to it, usually to mock the hivemind-nature of the characters or establish a theme of putting people in boxes they can't escape from (such as in Steven Universe where every gem of one type shares the same name and remains stuck in one role for their entire existence).
In the case of Warriors, I feel that "rule" rings truest. To be entirely fair to the writers, they have hundreds of characters to name, most of them never even showing up in the books beyond being mentioned in the allegiances. A prefix or suffix is going to appear multiple times - that's just unavoidable, especially if you have rules in place for what names are allowed that limits your options. I can't blame them for that issue coming up a few times accidentally.
What I can blame them for is deliberately using names that have important characters attached to them barely a generation later. In a setting where you have to keep track of every name, even as a reader, it's going to cause nothing but trouble if Greystripe dies and in the next book there's a Greykit in the very same Clan. It creates a constant stream of Grey-, which can accidentally confuse readers, or at the very least trip them up for a few seconds - something you DO NOT want in a story, especially one aimed at kids, where things need to be clear and concise.

used a random number generator on my masterlist of characters and drew the ones I rolled!
descriptions and minor spoilers below the cut!
Thrushpelt (WC) - a minor character who appears in Tallstar's Revenge and gives Heatherstar a life for courage and instinct. He is described as a "sleek tom". He is also listed as a significant medicine cat in Secrets of the Clans. He was a warrior prior to becoming a medicine cat.
Slash (Rogue) - a major antagonist in the Dawn of the Clans arc. Slash was the leader of an antagonistic rogue group and is responsible for kidnapping Star Flower and attempting to take over the fledgling clans. He disappears by the end of Path of Stars. Slash is described as a "brown tabby tom with slashes of white fur on his front legs and yellow-green eyes"
Gorseclaw (SkC/TC) - the son of Cloudstar and Birdflight who appears in Cloudstar's Journey and other Skyclan focused novellas/super editions. Gorseclaw was born in Skyclan and then raised i Thunderclan after Skyclan was banished. He is described as a "broad shouldered, dark brown tabby tom with amber eyes". I personally do not like him being likened to Tigerstar and instead have made him a light tom with white highlights and blue eyes so that he is a mix between his parents.
Dewy Leaf (Ancients) - a minor character in Dawn of the Clans who is a queen in the early Tribe. Most of her interactions on page are in regard to her mate, Moon Shadow, leaving the mountains without her. She is, understandably, upset that he is leaving her to find a new home while she is pregnant with their kits. She is described as a "tortoiseshell she-cat".
Dawnflower (RC) - a minor character who appears in the timeline between Leopardstar's Honor and Omen of the Stars. She is described as a "very pale gray she-cat" and is the daughter of Mosspelt and Frogleap. Based on her on-page appearances, she is a proud and outspoken molly who is very protective of her kits. She passes away during the drought at the beginning of Omen of the Stars.
Mudpuddle (WC) - a minor character and deputy of Windclan in Code of the Clans under Stonestar. His only on-page time is him reassuring his leader that all of Windclan is safe after a large branch falls on the clans during a gathering. He is described as a "brown and white tom".

i never understood why sandstorm ended up being mapleshade's target when leafpool was more of a parallel to her. crowfeather was willing to run away from the clans for her (he still sucks tho lol), her kittens got to live (and stay in their birth clans whilst being 'gifted by starclan'), and she got to keep not only her place in TC but her rank as a medcat as well. i think about a narrative where maple was jealous of leaf for having what she never did and more...what if all of the 'punished by starclan' bs was actually from maple pretending to be starclan guide? a "they made me suffer so you should too" situation if you will...
idk i just love indulging in mapleshade being a 'blinded by anger and endlessly hungry for revenge' villain
I honestly can't get behind either, I hate that they ditched her schtick so quickly. She goes after Applekin, that's her thing!!! Have her go after Feathertail or Stormfur or literally anyone that makes sense PLEASE have Misty lose a life taking her down i'm on my hands and knees why is she suddenly the queen of cat hell. Her endless hunger for revenge is best when we know the target and the motivations, writing team please you could have chosen any other cat to kill off Spottedleaf for the world's most uninteresting finale of this ""love triangle""

Could you please infodump some of your mothpool headcanons to us?
they’re so. they’re so i love them (my bad this turned into a mothpool story ramble instead of headcanons)
- leafpaw sees mothpaw once and her lesbian eyes widen like she just saw god
- mothpaw is super anxious and leafpaw makes her feel unjudged and like an equal
- yes i made moth a paw still, i’ll have it so moth was changed to a med app shortly before her warrior ceremony, explaining why she’s an app and hawkfrost is a warrior
-mudfur names her mothwing (after the fake sign hawkfrost planted) before he dies
- anyway back to the gays
-they’re both lesbians, mothwing is a trans girl :) for me bc im trans and i like making characters trans and also for biological kits purposes
- in the lake territories, leafpool has a crisis when she realizes she loves mothwing. they have a little abandoned cave slightly past the territories they’d meet in i think
- mothwing confesses first, not caring for the code (in ripples, meds can have mates just not kits unless they have a replacement while they step down to care for their family) (half-clan relationships are still forbidden until bristlefrost’s law is made, allowing cats to switch clans to be with their mate)
- leafpool gives in and they are mates!!!
- they almost run away. go back to save thunderclan :( just like leafcrow in canon
- shortly after, leafpool realizes she’s pregnant!! luckily, squirrelflight confesses that she is too. they concoct a plan…. leafpool will give her kits to squirrel to raise, and no one can ask where they came from bc of the queen’s rights law in the warrior code
- (leafpool can’t raise her kits herself bc she’s the sole medicine cat, her clan would be left without a healer)
- they openly tell everyone squirrel is expecting to take attention off of leafpool, brambleclaw immediately assumes they’re his — squirrelflight doesn’t refute him. she only sees him as a brother, but if she denied it the only other cat as a possible father would be ashfur, or a rogue. neither of those options are good for others to assume in her opinion
- as canon, squirrel and leaf go off, and luckily they give birth at the same time. squirrelflight gives birth to hollykit and breezekit, and leafpool gives birth to lionkit (name change maybe), jaykit, and dovekit. they do this at the moonpool, and the wailing attracts crowfeather. he and squirrelflight get emotional, muah muah, cutesy, agree to separate, crowfeather takes breezekit for his friend nightcloud to raise with the kits she was currently giving birth to. that’s the reason crow was out, to get her a nice stick.
- they go back to tc after a patrol helps em carry the 4 kits, later on dovekit dies, squirrelflight is devastated :( so is leafpool :(
and brambleclaw ig
- holly, jay and lion are raised as siblings
- after the reveal, i kinda don’t want leafpool to die as i’ve said before so i think she’ll go to riverclan to be with mothwing, but she’ll be there as a warrior
- theyre so sweet :( leafpool picks flowers and puts them in mothwing’s mane
- leafpool headbutts, a trait she shares with squirrelflight
- mothwing curls around her every night to keep her warm. in greenleaf, leafpool often has to kick her away bc the heat is STIFLING
- leafpool brings the thunderclan herb pouch craft to riverclan, which afterwards becomes quite popular
- leafpool takes her swimming lessons from mothwing, and doesn’t do half bad! she ends up enjoying it
- similarly, she enjoys fishing and how calm it is
- whenever she can find willow she weaves it into necklaces and crowns for mothwing. they are all over the medicine den
- mothwing loves her wife so much she uses her healer privileges to get her the best piece of prey
- leafpool acts as mothwing’s guard, which just means leafpool is required to accompany mothwing on most patrols. leafpool is delighted by this.
- they bask on rocks together!!!! leafpool is entranced by the way mothwing glows
- “i don’t know her god, but i’m no stranger to devotion”
- maybe they’ll even have more kits… who knows?

Mothpool was a big squeezey toy for me back in the day. I find Mothwing intresting ya know.
Human au. In the orginal territories. When Mothwing was younger Leopard sent her to Thunderclan to train with Leafpaw because they are simalar in age. Leopard wanted to send her somewhere after a incident with Hawkpaw. Mudfur didn't want to ostracize her more from the other Riverclan kids but he knew she wasn't getting the starclan thing and hoped training with another apprentice would help her understand Starclan.
Mothpaw and Leafpaw where civil but didn't really connect until Mothpaw opens up to her. They spend late nights studing and when one in slacking in thier chores the other would help.
It was good until Mothpaw had to go back. Leafpaw misses her friend and with Squrriel still gone she feels very lonely. They orginize a meet up, Cinderpelt has a younger warrior Sorreltail escorte her across the border. As they are crossing Reedpaw falls off a boat hits his head and goes into the water.
Mothpaw freezes up but Leafpaw manages to save his life.
Leafpaw then sees the way Hawkpaw treats Mothpaw.
Mothpaw is distance turning her visit Leopardstar takes her and Sorreltail back to the border. Leopardstar warns Leaf that she can't visit Riverclan anymore because they don't take to kindly to having TC warriors in RC camp.

Brought to you by the sweet @writernopal -- thank you!! <3
From Invisible Girl:
Loft:
“Dear God,” Antonio said loftily, hands rummaging through his empty pockets. The words were so strange coming out of his mouth that Velia stared.
Lurch:
“Velia,” Paris ordered, holding out his hand, and Velia lurched forward, bewildered. “Give me a knife.” Wordlessly she knelt and pulled the pocket knife out of her boot. Somehow between New York and San Francisco and back, she’d become Paris’ surgeon assistant. As she handed it over, she couldn’t help but scan him for injuries. Other than looking a mess, he seemed fine.
Leave:
“I know,” Antonio said, stealing the hardboiled egg slices off Velia’s plate and the bitter greens from Paris’, even though he had to reach across the table. “I’m going to start with better wages for the trolley workers in the city.” Lewis nearly dropped his sandwich. “You’re serious.” He didn’t seem to notice the tomato juice dripping through his fingers. Antonio held his gaze. “Then the entire West Railways. Paid medical leave, higher salaries, more humane hours.”
From the marinating Cemetery Sisters WIP:
Learn:
Miguel sighed into the phone. “I would’ve stayed at the community college longer if I could have, you know that.” Sienna tapped the space button absently. Mallory had been so excited to go, to get away, to learn new things, to become her own person. Sienna, in classic second child fashion, had thought Mallory was already a fine person the way she was.
Lean:
Azrail was early, ducking through the gate and dodging a falling leaf as excited as he. He had a red faded sweatshirt on, and when he sat down by the flowers, he blended in, as though they were welcoming him in to stay. “What does fall smell like to you?” Sienna asked, ripping up trumpet vine. Azrail leaned back on his heels and tilted his head like a dog. “Crisp,” he said. “Clean.”
I'll tag @kaiusvnoir @sparrow-orion-writes @eccaiia @eli-writes-sometimes @kjscottwrites @tc-doherty and @toribookworm22 to find the words bite, tooth, jaw, and mouth 🍂

Ya'll put me back on my bullshit on the day I'm supposed to be studying. So things I've changed in Dark Mirror Au:
Focuses mostly on the dark mirror universe itself, instead of them interacting with their canon selves.
Fire's sibs are being split up, the ones formerly known as Eaglekit and Wildkit stay with mama Nutmeg (Hope). Firekit is taken along with his near twin Flamekit and his sister Fawnkit (Princess). They don't have an official mom bc I couldn't find one that wouldn't bring up future problems.
Fire & Flame get a much closer relationship. Fawn eventually leaves
Fire does not get his villain arc (honestly it's more of a vengeance arc) until after the dog pack fiasco. As such, Bluestar does not die until after that..
Ya'll thought Starclan was involved in these cats' lives before? Let's turn that up by 200
Fire might not be Squilf n Leaf's bio dad, still iffy there
Fire works with instead of against the Hope Colony...at first.
Fire & Bramble's relationship is a lot more complicated
Might have Leafpaw rebuild Skyclan while she's gone bc why not. Also she can meet Sol there.
Medic Dovewing
Hollyleaf, gaslight, gatekeep, girlboss -> girlfail
Some form of an alliance with Riverclan, either between Fire & Misty themselves or an arranged union with Hawk & Squilf, likely the latter because the drama is spicy there.
Squilf is a lot more respected in TC (not that she wasn't before, but she's less likely to have her decisions questioned by anyone who is not her parents). Leaf is still the golden child though.
Lionblaze leaves the clans and joins Leaf
Tawnypelt stays in Shadowclan and might end up becoming leader.
Primrosetail and Talonswipe <3
The Three are stolen as kits; gotta lotta prophecy cat theft going on in this au
The Dark Forest battle might end up being replaced with kind of a Civil War, though the Dark Forest has its part to play.
Daisy becomes a warrior, yes this is highly controversial
Jayfeather gets more narrative purpose; mansplain, manipulate, manwhore...what if I make him Dove's dad?
Part that are still fairly iffy:
Crowfeather, what does he do post-journey
Stormfur & Feathertail stay in ThC and don't go on the journey, but I can't just have them just existing, taking up space.
Ivypool...babe...what to do with you...
Windclan, they're just...there.

So something I want to know for what you and TC96, how do you guys make your own backgrounds?
Well for me I solely use Ibispaint X. TC uses CSP and I think Photoshop sometimes, so she has access to a lot of professional, downloadable brushes, whereas I make due with the brushes Ibis has accessible....because it's free XD
For the forest and landscape bgs I use leaf and grass brushes, for trees there's a particular detail brush for tree bark that I downloaded the QR code for. But uhh...yeah for bgs the brushes really do all the work lol, that and I look at images of forests for reference.

Idk if it was ever just me but, if in when worlds collide it wasn't revealed that Newt was the one who took Sal's eye, worked for Dregg, vaporized Mikey and all of that stuff, I kind of feel like he fit more of an anti-hero that later gets redemption. (Kind of have a whole rewrite for Newt and what I'd do with him in the story). Again I don't know if it was ever just me.
Personally, I disagree. I really like Newtralizer as a villain and he has show no real signs of any possible redemption. The man is insane, is completely lost and cannot be saved.
If anything, I feel Tiger Claw and Fishface fit the anti hero category more than Newtralizer. The introduction of TC’s sister Alopex could’ve been his beginning of his redemption and him and Alopex becoming a family again, along with the canon fact that TC basically realized his wrongs after that Undead Shredder fiasco and surrendered in the end.
And Fishface showed there’s more to him than just being bad. He explains he’s only doing all of this because he owes Shredder for bailing him out of jail. I also liked his dynamic with Raph (I actually explore this dynamic more in a oneshot of mine you can check out HERE) and Fishface showed potential of being able to turn over a new leaf and maybe become an antihero of some sort since he ended up saving the Turtles and warned them of the resurrection of Shredder.
With some more time (aka eps) and good writing, I think they both could’ve been redeemed.
