“Do you have the—”
“Right here.”
Watching the two of you in action was fascinating.
Levi tossed you a canister from over his shoulder. The metal container flipped through the air, nearly smacking Eren directly in the face. He ducked just in time. The canister landed perfectly into your outstretched hand. You didn’t even look up from the crate of supplies you were tending to. Eren sputtered.
“Hey, watch it! You almost hit me!”
“Don’t be in the way.” You spoke the command in unison. Neither you nor Levi missed a beat. Eren caught a mutual eye roll as you and Levi continued to organize the new cargo shipment.
You secured a thick wooden lid onto your crate and made a tick on your clipboard. You maneuvered out of the way just in time for Levi to heave over an equally massive wooden box. He stacked it on top of yours.
“Tell me that’s all of it,” Levi grumbled, placing a familiar touch on your shoulder as he peered over your amassment of papers. You flipped the pages with a solemn shake of your head.
“Between what we brought back from the expedition and the disaster that was this last shipment, I’d say we’re done with barely half.”
“Fucking hell…”
Immediately after expeditions, your leftover supplies would be checked and consolidated into storage to prepare for the next outing and regular patrols. That had always been an undertaking and typically took the whole night. But when you were away, a new shipment of supplies had come early. A disorganized mess of various crates and trunks, Commander Erwin nearly hit the roof before he stormed over to the supplier’s office to complain.
The company had apparently shifted management, and the new owner thought he could cut corners. At least, that’s what you guessed.
Levi slowly turned to Eren as you made a few frustrated scribbles in your notes. The crease in his brow deepened, and a vein above his eye twitched.
“What are you doing just standing around, Jaeger?” Levi stepped forward, gesturing to the chaos of stacked and scattered materials across the room. “You think these big-ass boxes will grow legs and walk to storage by themselves?”
“Section Commander Zacharius sent us in here to help. He’s finishing up outside.” A bead of sweat formed on Eren’s temple. Levi stared wordlessly, scowling. “Sir!”
“You can help Jean,” you said, glancing up from your attempt at an organization sheet. You gestured over to where Jean knelt by a mountain of wooden crates. Heavy pouches and metal parts poured out of the sprawling containers. “He’ll need all the help he can get separating the flour sacks from the deconstructed ODM gear.”
Jean met Eren’s eye, exhausted and annoyed at the prospect of working with Eren on top of his menial task. Mikasa carried three boxes stacked on top of each other somewhere in the background.
The entire regiment worked into the night. Empty crates were slapped with proper labels, refilled with the correct material, and sent to storage. The rate at which you and Levi put together a plan was astounding, and you quickly ordered your exhausted soldiers around in teams to get the job done.
Jean and Eren worked to separate the flour sacks from the gear, moving gingerly to avoid crushing anything. Some bags were broken. Eren blew white particles off of a grip and onto Jean’s slacks. Jean scowled but was too tired to complain. The two of them took to sorting out the pieces of gear quietly, Jean placing the parts in their respective bins as Eren sifted through the mess of metal and wires. He was left with a small box of screws at the end of his work.
“Um, do we have a box for screws?”
“Screws?” Jean repeated, glancing over the closed crates. “No?”
Eren shrugged and put them in his pocket.
You and Levi continued to work seamlessly together, racing throughout the room and ensuring everything was sorted. You passed your clipboard back and forth as you elapsed each other. Eren could hardly see the handoff. He chased after you after he closed the last crate of flour.
“Section Commander!” you turned with a stack of random materials in your arms. The soldiers from your squads gathered around you, deliberating with each other over the orientation of the storage. “Jean and I finished. Where else can I be of assistance?” You handed your supplies to one of your team leaders, giving instructions before returning to Eren.
“Captain Levi has the list,” you said, moving another set of boxes down to the floor. Your team took to opening them. You looked down and groaned at the sight, running a hand over your face. Inside, the supplier had packaged together explosives and yeast. “What a mess.”
Eren ran off to find Levi, who stood in the courtyard supervising the organization of horse feed. Levi gave two firm slaps to a neat assembly of boxes as he addressed a group of six. The compilation had been mislabeled as “bread grains.”
“You’ll take these to the stables. You hear me? The stables. If I see a lick of this shit in the kitchen, you’ll eat horse food for the rest of your life.” Eren approached him cautiously, offering him a salute.
“Sir! How can I be of assistance?” Levi huffed, blowing a tuff of his bangs away from his forehead.
“I just gave the list back. Go ask the Section Commander.”
“Uh…” Eren croaked, having just spoken to you. “Well, I just spoke to—”
“Eren!” Armin appeared in the doorway out to the courtyard with a wave. The torchlight made his blond hair shine even more golden. “We need your help with the swords!”
“There you go,” Levi snorted, gesturing down the hall where Armin disappeared. He bumped Eren’s shoulder as he passed.
Luckily, things were beginning to wrap up by the time Eren nearly dropped from exhaustion. After the swords came lentils mixed with the smoke-gun pellets and then the tangled ODM wires. You and Levi were powering on at the same pace you had been for the night— perhaps even more rigorously— but Eren could see the burnout on your faces. A rule of thumb whispered among the cadets dictated that the two of you appeared visibly grumpier with tiredness, not that anyone would dare tell you that.
Levi maneuvered around you, snatching something you offered wordlessly in your hand. He sent off the last of the cargo boxes with a small team of drained recruits, and as he turned to you, he didn’t have to say a thing before you tossed the clipboard to him. He caught it like a frisbee.
“That’ll do it,” you announced. Your voice echoed off the stone walls of the now-empty room. “Thank you, everyone, for your hard work. I’m sure you’re very tired. Dismissed!”
Eren breathed a sigh of relief as you marched out of the room. He quickly took his leave, filing out with the rest of his friends as they trudged back to the barracks in exhaustion. No one said a word as they crossed through the courtyard, too drained from the expedition and the organization disaster to say anything.
Eren stuck his hand in his pocket, stopping short when he felt the small box of screws he had put in there earlier. Armin shot him a worried look as he started back toward the packaging room, too fatigued to ask where he was going. Eren said nothing, jogging back so he could return as quickly as possible.
You and Levi sat on the stone floor, back to back, as he read over the materials list. Your head tilted back to rest on his shoulder. He did the same, his short hairs brushing against your cheek. Two cups of tea sat on the floor next to you. That must be where you went when you dismissed everyone.
“The twenty units of ODM wire—”
“Southwestern storage with the grips,” you yawned. You closed your eyes, letting yourself slouch back into Levi. He said nothing as you nuzzled into the shoulder of his jacket.
“Updated uniforms and linens—”
“Forth floor. They need to be organized, but they can be distributed soon.”
“Great. Like we haven’t had enough of that tonight.”
Eren stood frozen in the entryway. He clutched the box of screws in his hand, stepping off to the side to avoid being seen. Something inside told him that he shouldn’t be there, that the scene in front of him was too intimate for his prying eyes. He watched on anyways, wondering if he should just wait until tomorrow.
You finished your tea, placing it on the ground with a disappointed hum. You reached for Levi’s and took it in the pads of your fingers. Levi brushed his cheek against your hair and tilted his face to look at you. He didn’t get very far with your head in the way.
“Excuse you,” he frowned. “You have your own.”
“Finished mine,” you muttered, half asleep. Levi shook his head before returning to read the rest of the list. He flipped a page.
At that display, Eren decided that he could definitely wait until the next day. Stealthily, he returned to the little, lit hallway to take his leave.
That was until the little box of screws clattered to the floor. The sound reverberated off the stone, causing both you and Levi to turn to the noise. You sat up straight with eyes snapped open with alertness. Eren cringed, picking up the box, and with no choice, he revealed himself.
“The hell are you doing up?” Levi snapped with a deep scowl. “You were just dismissed. Or do you want more work?” Eren almost flinched.
“I forgot about this.” He held up the forgotten cargo, giving it a rattle. You yawned again, a strangled noise of affirmation escaping you.
“Oh, thank you, Jaeger. You can leave that with me.” Eren scampered across the room to your outstretched hand. It dropped with the weight of the tiny container. With a simple thanks, you once again sent him on his way.
***
“Do you think the Section Commanders are, you know, together?” Eren asked in a hushed tone at the dinner table the next day. Armin’s forehead wrinkled in thought.
“Which ones?”
“Yours and Captain Levi.” Eren played absentmindedly with the leftover stew on his plate. The entire table seemed to stiffen. A few nervous eyes glanced around the mess hall for any leadership within the radius to overhear. Eren hardly noticed the way the former members of the 104th seemed to lean forward.
“I think they’re all together,” Reiner finally spoke, eyes darting around the room again.
“What? You mean like all at once?” Bertholdt laughed nervously, swiveling his head as he spoke. He rubbed at the back of his neck with his large palm.
“Yeah!” Reiner exclaimed in a hushed tone. The table leaned closer. He gestured emphatically with his hands. “I mean, you’re in this line of work. Everyone’s ripped and sexy—”
Connie let out a roaring cackle.
“You did not just refer to Captain Levi as ripped and sexy!”
Reiner sputtered as cheeky grins and bouts of laughter spread across the group. Reiner clutched the edge of the table as his pale skin turned a bright shade of red.
“You know that’s not what I meant!” he stammered, just about standing up to slam his hand on the table, causing various utensils to clatter. The noise was not too out of the ordinary for the cafeteria. “That’s not what I meant! I meant my squad leader!” Connie propped an elbow on the table, counting his fingers to accent his words.
“Section Commander Levi: ripped and sexy. Section Commander Miche: ripped and sexy. Section Commander Hange—” Reiner slapped Connie’s hand from across the table, causing Connie to just about go into hysterics. He collapsed into Sasha’s shoulder. Bertholdt tugged the back of Reiner’s shirt, urging him to sit back down.
“That is the opposite of what I meant!”
“You said everyone, Reiner!” Connie had nearly burst into tears. He heaved between labored breaths. “What— what if they…! What if they made— Hahaha! A calendar?! What if they made one of those sexy calendars?!” His deranged delirium was contagious, the taboo notion enough to make Mikasa cover her face with a shake of her head. She continued small bites of her food.
“Shirtless Levi calendar just for you, Reiner.” He stood at a loss as Jean reached up to knock against his bicep. Reiner sat down in defeat, hands rubbing over his face as Bertholdt gave him a heavy-handed pat.
“What made you ask, Eren?” Christa’s gentle voice somehow made it down to the other side of the table. He craned to be able to see her before looking off, wondering if he should say anything. He didn’t think for long, if at all.
“I walked in on them last night—” An eruption of astonished gasps and cries cut him off—a jumbled chorus of sounds molded over each other.
“Whoa, whoa, whoa, wait a minute!”
Sasha’s voice carried over everyone else’s.
“Levi and Reiner?!” She exclaimed. Reiner somehow grew redder.
“Of course not!”
“No, he means our captain and Levi, right Eren?” Armin clarified, and Eren nodded.
“When you say walked in on them—” Jean glanced around the room, eyes widening with emphasis. “Did you mean walked in on?”
“No, no,” Eren stuttered, running a hand through his scalp as he thought of describing what he saw. “I’d say they were more cuddling.”
“Cuddling,” Reiner repeated with a single downward nod. He crossed his arms over his chest as he squared his shoulders back. “You walked in on the squad leaders… cuddling.”
“Well, they weren’t really cuddling. They were sitting back-to-back against each other more… nuzzling. And sharing a cup of tea.” Eren trailed off, face contorted in a pained expression as he continued to play with his hair. Armin nudged him under the table, barely picking up his head to offer him the contrite look painted on his expression.
“Eren…”
“I think it’s kinda romantic!” Christa brushed a few hairs behind her ear. “Two soldiers fighting for their lives with no one to lean on but each other! I could see them together. Maybe Captain Levi would loosen up a bit if he was dating.” Ymir grumbled something incoherent.
“I think we’ve all been in a room where Captain Levi’s shared a cup of tea with all the leadership.” Reiner glanced around the table, unimpressed. “Is that supposed to be a euphemism or something?”
“It was the same cup!”
“Things sure are lively over here.” Everyone froze. “What are we talking about?”
You placed a warm hand on his shoulder. Eren’s eyes followed the length of your sleeve to your smiling face. You glanced over the group, slightly taken aback at the sudden silence. Levi came up to Eren’s left with crossed arms.
“We heard from everyone coming the other way that you couldn’t shut up, and now you decide to be quiet?” Connie met Reiner’s eye from across the table.
“The calendar,” he mouthed, and Reiner resisted the urge to throw a spoon at him.
“We were just talking about Sasha’s dating life!” Eren exclaimed, much to Sasha’s horror. You beamed.
“Oh, how fun!” Levi rolled his eyes, maneuvering around you.
“I’m grabbing food. You want the usual?” He leaned in slightly, a gentle touch on your back. The table watched with bated breath. You smiled and nodded.
“Yes, please!” With your confirmation, he left. You turned back to the table, your hand still on the back of Eren’s chair. “Dating! That’s so exciting! You have to tell me!” The group exchanged looks. Normally, they would tell you. That is if there was anything to tell.
“Are you dating, Section Commander?” Sasha quirked an eyebrow, hoping to turn the heat onto someone else.
“Oh, uh—” You stuttered, thrown off at the sudden question. You could feel the heat of their intense stares. —“No, not really.” You let out a nervous laugh. Surely you were missing something. You missed the silent eye contact Eren made with Armin.
“Not really?” Eren repeated, twisting his mug in his hands as he stared at his water. Reiner studied him, wondering that perhaps Eren had been onto something after all. Mikasa kicked Eren under the table. He flinched, composing himself just before Levi returned with your food.
“You guys are sure acting strange tonight.” Bertholdt refused to look you in the eye. You let out another nervous chuckle before taking your plate from Levi with thanks.
“They ran out of the rolls, but I got you the—”
“The baguette?” Your face lit up at the sight of the tiny baguette on the corner of your plate. You faced Levi with a grin. “Have I ever told you that you were the best?”
“Sure, sure.” He didn’t acknowledge the rest of the 104th as he stormed toward the exit. You offered them a wave goodbye.
“Sorry, we can’t stick around. I’ll see you all later! Good luck, Sasha!” With one last wave, you hurried after Levi and left together.
As soon as you were well down the hallway, the table erupted in debate.
Thank you to all who liked, reblogged, followed, and supported. Your support means so much and is greatly appreciated.
Notes: Ah, I love writing young Eren as the stupid little baby he is 🙏 Heavily channeling Bluey “do you have a wife?”

Over-fucking-ruled
~ levi ackerman x reader ~ tags/cw: explicit language, canonverse, established relationships, levi being a tiny bit controlling (but its for the best) ~ wc: 550
The rain started pouring around midday and didn't let up as the sun started to set, and as darkness rolled in from the east so did more storm clouds. Too far from the walls and too exhausted to find any form of civilisation, Levi had decided to call it and set up camp under a small outcropping deep within the forest. He had sent a group out for surveillance and with nothing to report, the captain ordered everyone to unpack and settle in. The collective sigh of relief that whooshed from the group could have knocked down an oak tree and as everyone started to shuck off wet boots and overcoats, the chill of the night crept in. There was a small fire, enough to cook rations and dry some articles of clothing but not enough to warm everyone. So they huddled, squished together around the flames teeth chattering and hands shaking as they shovelled stew into their mouths.
"I think we might have to double up" you mutter to your captain while counting the number of heads and available sleeping bags. "I guess we could string the tents up but even then, we won't have enough to keep everyone warm"
The soaked linen had been slung over low-hanging branches earlier in the evening in the hope to dry them a bit before it came time for lights out, but with the rain and wind they were just as wet. You purse your lips in deliberation, mind running over logistics and numbers to figure out if you could squeeze three women into a single-person sleeping bag.
“Levi, should I-“ you start to explain your predicament but you're cut off.
“Yes, just wash the mud off your arms”
“I-that’s not what I-what?” you blink at your captain.
Levi doesn’t look up from his sword he is cleaning as he responds. “You weren’t gonna ask to share with me?”
You shake your head and squat in an attempt to collect the bowls and cups you had both used for dinner.
 “I was gonna ask about if I should ask Petra or…why are you looking at me like that?”
A grin lifts the corner of his mouth. “Do I smell that bad?”
"No, I just don't want-"
"Don't want to what? Be caught sleeping with your captain?"
The double entendre catches you off guard.
"Yes, exactly that" your cheeks start to heat at the blatant flirting. It's not as if you weren't used to that or the idea of sharing a sleeping space with Levi, but to do it so close to other people that anybody could find out. The idea had you both terrified and excited.
You shake your head, wiping your mind free of the thought of you and Levi tangled up together. "I'm just going to share with the girls"
"No you're not," he states as he places his now clean sword to the side and reaches for the dishes in your hands. "I'm ordering you to share with me and as your Captain, you have to listen to me"
“I object to this" you complain as he pulls the plates from your hands.
“Good for you. But over-fucking-ruled"

PILLOW TALK WITH LEVI ACKERMAN BOOKS :
I Kuchel
II Kenny
III Hange
IV Erwin
V Farlan & Isabel
VI Mikasa
VII Eren
Right when your head hit the pillow, you looked at Levi through your locks sprinkled all over you, and asked a question that was burning your lips for the longest time.
"Levi ?"
"Hm"
"Tell me more about Kuchel"
Even if the only source of light present in the room was only a veil of moonlight, you still caught the small sparkle in Levi's eyes. It only lasted for a second before disappearing as fast as it had appeared.
He didn't look at you and kept inspecting the ceiling, his hands knitted together ontop of his chest.
"I don't remember much about her to be honest"
You listened carefully to the words your husband just uttered while hugging your pillow tightly, a habit you always did to comfort yourself.
Neither one of you ever brought this subject to the table. Levi would sometimes mention his mother when relevant to a conversation, which was once in a blue moon truly. He would never go further than saying her name or a quick fact about her, he would never open up to share much about that time. Tonight, strangely enough, your curiosity begged for a little more.
You thought Levi wanted to keep his mother's memories to himself, wanting to seal them away from everyone, including you. This made you feel like you were being denied access to an important part of his life that helped shape his being. Tonight, you understood that this was untrue.
He didn't want to keep his mother a secret from you, he just didn't have enough to tell you about her.
"Was she...kind ?" You asked, tugging at the delicate silk covering your pillow, a bit hesitant to look him in the eyes, since you felt this was a touchy subject.
"I guess she was, i don't recall her being disgraceful or violent towards me. Even when she was at her lowest, she always looked after me."
"I think i would have appreciated her a lot" You whispered to the pillow.
Levi hummed in response. He was never one to talk much, not in all that time spent at the military and not even after you two confessed your feelings to each other and decided to settle down together. Getting him to talk about his feelings was like extracting diamonds out of a mine. Difficult but very rewarding.
"Why do you ask about her now ?"
The question caught you off guard.
You wanted to know what kind of person he grew up next to, when exactly did he raise this wall so high that even you, his wife, could not break through it sometimes.
It wasn't that Levi wasn't open with you, you're probably the only person he opens up to the most and the only person he allows to peek into his vulnerability.
You asking about his mother was completely genuine, you thought that getting him to talk about his mother would somehow get you closer to him and vice versa. You loved Levi so much you always searched for ways to get more entangled with him, be it through his past, the present or both of your futures. You thought digging out this piece that belonged to his past would make him truly yours, as silly as this might sound.
You tried to paint a face, tried to imagine what his mother would have looked like. What Kuchel would have looked like. You imagined her sharing the same thin eyebrows as her only son, the same delicate features adorning her face. You guessed he inherited his dark hair from her, imagining her brushing her long black locks.
For some reason, you imagined her doing that alone, in the corner of a gloomy bedroom is some abandoned brothel. Your heart scrunched at the thought. Levi being brought to life in such an environment made you sad, resentful, even.
He deserved better.
What did his father look like ? Did he get his short stature from him ? His uncle Kenny was tall, so maybe Kuchel was too. Was his father nothing more than a “client” to his mother ? Is that all he was ? A fleeting person that appeared out of nowhere and left behind him the most valuable human being inside the walls ?
For a second, you felt hatred and disgust for his progenitor. You hugged your pillow even harder, refraining to share that feeling with Levi.
Your mind even wondered to the night (or day) Levi was conceived in before you forced your mind to go back to more proper thoughts.
This man, so strong and respectable, had an inexplicably hard life. Sometimes you were in pure admiration of how he got himself out of the gutter. This man could have gone so wrong but somehow decided not to.
You wondered If Kuchel was still alive, how your life would have been different. Would you and Levi go visit her at her home, somewhere peaceful, maybe in the countryside ? Would she make you tea knowing how much her son loves it ? She'd have a special way of brewing it, just the way Levi likes it, the only way Levi likes it. She'd give you the secret to preparing the beverage because she'd want you to make your husband happy and because she apprciates you too.
For a moment, you could almost smell the scent of Kuchel's tea, feel the kitchen's air being filled with the sound of the tea brewing, you could smell the perfume in her hair as she turned around to fill your cup, of her dress's fabric…
You felt the weight of the mattress shift next to you, almost tearing you out of your reverie. Levi just got closer, his scent suddenly more present, you couldn't help taking it all in. Man, you loved him so much.
All those years spent together as comrades, high ranked commanders and then finally, spouses, had made you unbearably attached to the man, but more on a spiritual level. You two survived every catastrophe that was thrown your way during your service in the military, before and even after everything collapsed, this had to be a miracle.
He held you closer to him, and you took in the scent of his fabric.
"I just want to know more about you" You said softly
"I think it's better to leave the past where it is" He said before pausing.
He seemed to pounder for a moment, as if trying to find the right way to end the conversation and never have you ask about her again.
"My mother was a good woman. I loved her dearly"
You tightened your hold on him, those words moved you in ways you wouldn't be able to describe.
"I love you Levi" you said before starting to doze off slowly, peaceful with Levi's modest confession.
Asleep, you didn't feel Levi's fingers brushing your locks aside to whisper to your temple.
"Kuchel would have loved you too".

“Do you love me?”
“Yes.”
“Do you really love me?”
“Yes.”
"Do you really really love me?”
They stop what they’re doing and turn to look at you. An audible sigh is heard.
“If I come over there and kiss you until your lips fall off will you shut up?”

silver foxes
the men who are twice your age and half the headache. The ones who show up to your doorstep, flowers in hand and gifts in the other before taking you out on a date. That’s only after he told you to go crazy with his credit card to buy the perfect dress and heels for the occasion. The kind of a man that opens your door, drapes his coat around you and even puts it on the ground so you don’t dare splash your feet with that puddle. He’s the man that teaches you never to settle or compromise on your standards…to always expect princess treatment and nothing less of being regarded as his queen. The man that has your bills paid on time on every month before you even have time to look at them and tells you put your money up because hey, he’s got your hair and nails covered too. Five star dinners, always dressed in designers and smells like Tom Ford cologne. He’s also the man that brings you home after a night out and undresses you right there in the doorway because you looked far too sexy in that tight red dress..accenting every curve on that beautiful body. He’s the man that starts out with slow, sloppy kisses that trails from your lips, neck and down to your belly button but disrespectfully devours your pussy through the seat of those panties he can’t even be vexed to pull off. Only tugging them to the side long enough to spit onto those folds. Honestly, he doesn’t see himself as your sugar daddy or anything but he can’t help but get a taste of that sweetness. Especially when it’s trickling down his chin; staining his stubble and slightly wrinkled cheeks. Right before he decides to hoist your legs midair and bounce you up and down on his cock. You’re thinking to yourself how he possibly harbors so much strength for a man who’s past middle aged but he’s fucking you so good, like someone in his prime youth that you don’t ever question his skills. You claw his back, scream his name and even come twice as he’s twisting you to his leisure. In a full nelson with your panties tucked between your teeth; that dick curving inside of you..a hand on the back of your head and pushed face down into the pillow of the couch as he gives you backshots. Who tells you ‘I know, baby..I know.” When you’re whimpering with his thumb between your lips.,The man that goes rounds with you until you’re both spent and he’s splattering your tight little cunt full of his warm seed. Who tells the Plan B and breakfast in the morning is on him but first, he’ll go run you a warm bath and get you ready for bed.
the type of man that once you start fucking with him..you’ll never go back to the ones your age.

A/N: I’m back, happy Levi month everyone! I wrote this over the last month to cope with the fact AOT was ending and also life stuff. This is incredibly self indulgent, also I would love to tell more stories and scenarios in this AU, so this probably won’t be the last one-shot I write for actor!Levi and MUA!Reader hehehe. Disclaimer that I don't work in film or TV or makeup, sorry if there are any inaccuracies. Also please forgive me for the uncreative title, lol. Hope you enjoy the fic!

Levi’s last day on set is bittersweet.
For the final time, you lean against the wall and count down the seconds on your watch. The trailer door swings open to reveal the man of the hour. On par for the course, Levi arrives fifteen minutes on the dot before his scheduled arrival time. He’s holding his usual steaming flask of tea in one hand, with a nondescript rucksack (save for a Badtz-Maru keychain gifted to him from the Sanrio collaboration) slung over his shoulder.
“Hey,” you greet him, pushing off from the wall, moving towards him like a moth to flame. He sets down his things in the sitting area and meets you halfway, letting you pull him into your arms. After years of working alongside each other, you’ve both grown accustomed to greeting each other like this in private, especially after the stress the two of you had put yourselves under during the Season 3 shoots.
“How are you feeling? It’s your last day.” You ask him as the two of you part. To your dismay, you’re already missing the warmth of his embrace.
“I’m fine. I’m not going to get all sappy about it.” His face is placid.
“That’s what Hange said when they filmed their death scene, and we saw how that ended,” you say lightheartedly. Hange had sworn to remain jovial and upbeat throughout their last day, but after seeing the several other actors cry at their phenomenal acting, they had promptly broken down. “And I bet you anything that Eren’s going to say that when he and Mikasa do the cabin scene next week, and we all know he’ll be the first to start crying and the last to stop.”
Levi rolls his eyes before he enters the wardrobe area, but you know he’s not serious. “If you think I’m going to break down in tears like Hange and the kids did, you’re dead wrong,” he continues, out of sight.
You smile. “Sure. It’s alright, you know, if you do end up crying. It’s an end of an era, we’re all going to get emotional.”
A few moments later, Levi emerges in costume, sans the bandages. He sits down in front of the mirror at the vanity table. “Yes, but I’m satisfied with what I’ve done here, and I have no regrets,” he muses out loud, continuing on from before. “And it’s not like I’m done with the show. There’s the wrap party, then the press tour and all that. So don’t expect me to get all worked up today. I’m not saying goodbye to Attack on Titan just yet.” His voice softens towards the end.
But it is goodbye for us, you wish to say. And I don’t want it to be. You haven’t been contracted for any of their press events. After you finish with Attack on Titan, you’ll have a handful of weeks before your upcoming contract for a new show begins. It’s a wonderful opportunity; the show is airing on a major streaming service and requires you to push your SFX skills to the limit. Sasha had been cast in one of the main roles and both Onyankopon and Nifa will make appearances too, so you’ll see some familiar faces on this new project. But selfishly, you aren’t ready to let go and move forward. Selfishly, you aren’t ready to part ways with Levi.
Sure, the two of you will make an effort to talk every now and then. You know him far better than to assume he’ll stop talking to you the moment Attack on Titan is finished; despite him being standoffish at first, it’s clear Levi cares deeply about everybody he’s ever worked with, cast or crew alike. But the chances of your demanding schedules ever lining up again are close to zero, and sooner or later, your frequent messages will fizzle out into a conversation lost to the ages. You’ll drift, until the two of you are strangers once more. It’s inevitable; you’ve seen it happen before with your actor friends from old projects. No doubt it’ll happen again.
You consider addressing the elephant in the room, wondering if it lingers on his mind, too. But instead, you hum in agreement and pass him a headband to hold his hair out of the way. He puts it on, clearly content to not bring it up just yet.
Levi chews on the inside of his cheek as you sort out your equipment on the vanity table. Your eyes are immediately drawn to his lips, which are a little more chapped than usual. It’s clear there is something else that’s bothering him, but you decide to let it go for now. Sometimes Levi just needs to sit with his thoughts for a moment. You’ve learned that being pushed just makes him close himself off even more. A life in the limelight can be unforgiving. Kuchel Ackerman had been the brightest star of her generation, but behind the scenes, her personal life was far from glamorous. It doesn’t surprise you that her son keeps his heart and feelings well-guarded.
As he sits and stews, you apply chapstick and some basic ‘barely-there’ makeup on his face, before creating the illusion of a hard-fought battle by adding a light layer of grime to his face. You’ll add more after the scar and bandages. As you work, Levi takes out a folder from his bag, which is embellished with a small cat sticker that Hange had stuck on years ago. From it, he takes his copy of the script, nary a crease in the sheets. Brow furrowed, he reads it over and over, mouthing his lines with the fervour of a prayer.
Now, that is odd.
“There is something on your mind, isn’t there?” You’ve also read the script for today’s scene. The director had decided to save Levi’s most poignant scene—where his character salutes the ghosts of his fallen comrades—for the very end of his shoot. (Levi’s epilogue scene had been shot a week prior.) This would be his most challenging scene yet, for it would be the first time he and his character will ever cry on screen. “You can tell me if you want. Anything you need to help you focus. There’s still time.” You give him a quick squeeze on his shoulder.
Stormy eyes glance up at his reflection, than up at yours. He puts down the script and sighs, voice subdued. “I just want to do the Captain’s ending justice, and I don’t think I can.”
“I think you can,” you murmur. You gesture for him to close his eyes, and pick up your finest brush. Willing your hand and heart into steadiness, you bring the brush up to his forehead, where the largest scar begins. You’ll never get used to how infuriatingly gorgeous he is. “No. I know you can. There is no doubting just how much you care about portraying him correctly.”
He swallows. “Well, I’ve never cried on camera before.” He stops, giving you a moment to work.
With the utmost care, you begin to draw the main line of the largest scar, the one that passes through his eye and lips. As the brush passes over his eyelid, it twitches ever so slightly, his long lashes tickling your hand. Smiling, you brush away a stray lash that had fallen onto his cheek. As you extend the line down his cheek, you try to reassure him. Levi’s usually so steadfast, but it makes sense that something like this would grow heavy on his mind.
“You’ve been practicing it with your coach, though, right? I mean, I’ve had to cover up your swollen eyes a number of times this season.”
“Yeah. Thanks for that, by the way.”
“Don’t mention it.”
The brush reaches his lips. He opens his eyes, looking up at you through lowered lashes. Your heart aflutter, you staunchly ignore any and all thoughts of kissing him. Doing so has become more and more difficult with every passing day. Especially when every now and then, you think you see him glancing down at your lips whenever you lean in close to examine a detail of your work.
It’s more than likely that you’re imagining it, though.
Finally, the brush reaches his chin, finishing the outline of the first scar. You lean back to admire your work. After many instances of painstakingly painting on the scars and agonising over continuity, you don’t have to look at your old reference pictures to know the exact shape and curve of them, down to the millimetre. But you do so anyway, and smile in satisfaction when you compare today’s line to the pictures from the first time you drew them on him for practice. A perfect match.
“I know you’ve been working hard at it,” you continue assuring him, putting down the reference photos. “You’ve definitely come a long way.”
“Yeah, but I’m shit at it, actually. All those times we joked about how Eren would take forever to conjure a single tear every time he needed to cry, and now here I am in the exact same position. He’s going to rub this in my face should he ever find out.” He chews the inside of his cheek again, looking down. “Damn it. Don’t know what’s wrong with me today. I’m not… I don’t get nervous. I don’t show up to work feeling unprepared. That isn’t me. But today, it is.”
It’s unsettling, to see him so unsure of himself. His nerves are understandable, as he came into the show with more of a stuntman background and little actual acting experience. But anybody who’s worked alongside him could easily tell you just how dedicated he is to improving his craft, and that nobody else could play the Captain with the same quiet subtleties that Levi brings to the screen.
You hope your smile is somewhat reassuring to him. “And that’s okay. You know, crying on command really isn’t easy. I’ve worked with countless actors and many also find it difficult.” In your experience, most actors need a while to work themselves up to cry. The most obvious exception is Armin, who has the unnerving ability to turn it on and off like a light switch. “For you, all you need to do is make one tear out of one eye. You’ve managed to do that before, right?”
He nods, but the firm clench of his jaw and the crease between his brows don’t fade.
“So, it’s nothing that you haven’t practiced. And on the off chance that you can’t do it today, that’s perfectly fine. I have eyedrops in my bag.”
“Yeah, but…” He shakes his head in frustration. “This is going to sound dumb, but it… I don’t know, that feels like cheating. I know you’re thinking I’m being an idiot, and I probably am. I know eyedrops are common practice. It’s just… This is my character’s last moment before the epilogue, and I want it to be real. I don’t want to take the easy way out.”
“No, it’s not stupid. There’s no shame in needing to use eyedrops if you end up not being able to cry today, but it’s really admirable that you want to do it as authentically as possible. I think that since this is your final scene, and so many people are returning this morning, it’ll be easier than usual to muster up those tears.” Reaching for a set of different brushes and paint, you instruct him, “here’s what we’re going to do. I need you to just listen whilst I do the rest of your scars. I don’t want you to get trapped in your head about this, okay? Overthinking will just make it harder to get into character. Isn’t that what you said to Mikasa all those years back? It worked wonders for her. I often forget that this show was her first ever gig, with how good she’s become.”
He scoffs. “Really? You’re using my own words against me?”
“Well, what use is your own advice if you can’t follow it yourself?”
After a moment of hesitation, Levi sighs in defeat and closes his eyes again. “Shit, you’re relentless. Fine, then. I’ll trust you.”
You get to work, drawing the outlines of the second scar parallel to the first, then the smaller ones on his other cheek. As you add in the details, such as the texture of the stitches, you remind Levi of another story that he himself told you. He’d never worked with horses before being cast in this show, and yet was one of the quickest learners. Unsurprisingly so, since he’s incredibly kinaesthetically intelligent. To this day, the cast insists he looks the most at ease atop a horse, only second to Erwin, who actually used to ride in his childhood. You remind him that every single time, his hard work has more than paid off.
Somewhere down the line, you go off topic. Levi makes no move to stop you. In fact, he seems content just to listen to you talk about anything, everything. As the wounds take shape on his face, you reminisce on anecdotes from set, on the time the two of you spent together. With fondness, you recall your first meeting. Back then, you were an lowly assistant on the SFX team, transforming an unassuming man into the wounded soldier who, in his dying moments, listened to the Captain’s vow to eradicate the titans and bring meaning to his sacrifice. You talk about how the two of you grew closer during the filming of the second season, when Levi had a lot more free time to talk. How difficult the third season had been to film due to both of you being spread thin by additional responsibilities.
You skim over that time Levi mentioned you in an interview when asked about a favourite memory on set, and how warm it made you feel. You don’t talk about how you’d genuinely teared up after watching the final cut of the scene where Hange discovers a half-dead Levi by the riverbank, despite knowing that his ‘injuries’ were nothing more than your own handiwork.
And, with your heart clenching painfully, you certainly don’t dare to bring up the almost-kiss at last year’s cast and crew Halloween party.
———
“Cut! Perfect! Aaand that’s a wrap for Levi!”
The set erupts into thunderous applause. You clap heartily alongside the rest of the cast and crew. A deafening symphony of whoops and cheers fills the air, and if not for the growing lump in your throat, you’d join in too.
A standing ovation. Levi deserves it and more. Just as you expected, every angle the director wanted to capture had needed one take each, not a single one more. No eyedrops needed.
From your position, you can see Levi still sitting by the rock. Strangely, he makes no move to get up. Curious as to why, you peer past some crew members that had moved in the way, but you’re greeted with a sight that pulls at your heartstrings. Your eyes sting with new tears.
Curled up by the rock, Levi has his face buried in his hands, his shoulders heaving with quiet sobs.
Something in your chest aches. You knew that he would get emotional at the end—there was no way he wouldn’t, especially considering that his character cried too—but you didn’t expect him to feel so overwhelmed.
On instinct, your feet propel you towards him, but you’re promptly cut off by a few other crew members moving around. Through your rapidly blurring vision, you can only watch as several of the returning cast members rush forward from the smoke. Hange reaches him first, and pulls him into a bone-crushing hug. Erwin is second, kneeling next to the duo and rubbing Levi’s back comfortingly.
Sniffling, you quickly wipe away your tears, remembering suddenly that you still have something to do. Unnoticed, you slip away from set.
There is a tradition amongst the cast that whenever a character dies, the actor receives a bouquet of flowers from the cast and crew. (A size limit had to be enforced after a very emotional Gabi had presented Sasha with a bouquet so large it couldn’t fit through the trailer door.) For this final season, the tradition has expanded to gifting the actor a bouquet when they wrap, for the characters that survive all the way to the very end.
The door to Connie’s trailer is unlocked when you arrive, just as he said it would be. Inside, you find a vase full of vibrantly coloured flowers on the kitchenette counter in the exact spot where you’d left it earlier this morning. Several weeks ago, the cast and crew had all nominated you to put in the order for the bouquet and present it to Levi on his final day, and Connie had offered to help you hide it from Levi until it was time. Careful to not drip water all over the floor, you pick up the flowers and jog back to set.
The fog machines are being carried out by the time you return. You immediately scan the set for Levi, but it seems he has been completely buried under a massive group hug with the veterans cast, no doubt Hange’s doing. You can’t help but smile at the sight. Most of the crew members appear to be taking a break before clean-up, as it is the end of the day. The air is filled with chatter, but a hush descends upon the crowd as you approach.
The actors peel away from the hug one by one. A smiling Petra helps Levi get to his feet. The bandages on his face are halfway unravelled. With one hand, he yanks them off, leaving both of his eyes to gaze at you unobstructed, ablaze with an intense emotion you can’t quite place. With his other hand, he quickly wipes away the half-dried tears on his cheeks.
“On behalf of the cast and crew,” you say hoarsely, “I give you these.” You step forward and present him the bouquet. “It’s been an honour. Thank you for everything, Levi.”
His fingers gently graze yours as he takes the flowers from you. Tenderly, he holds them close to his chest.
“I was wondering where you went just now,” he says. Of course he’d noticed. “Should’ve known you’d be the one to give me this…” His voice wavers towards the end. He scoffs and wipes at his eyes. “And to think I was done blubbering like a baby. Damn it. You were right.”
He pulls you into a hug without a second thought.
———
Somehow, you’ve been roped into taking photos for everyone. Levi unwraps the bandages around his hand before he begins. He first takes a photo with the director and producer, who both thanking him dearly. They part with a handshake. Almost immediately after, the cast members of the Alliance, along with Eren and Zeke, all swarm forward for a big group photo. They’d all come to watch in support, even if several of them weren’t scheduled to come in today. Connie confesses that he’d helped hide the bouquet by letting you into his trailer. Levi makes a light-hearted remark that he should’ve figured that out too, considering Connie also helped hide Hange’s bouquet—which Levi himself had been responsible for ordering and retrieving.
The veteran actors come forward next. Fitting them all into the camera frame was a challenge, but you manage to do it after one of your makeup assistants finds you a stool. Somehow, Erwin manages to persuade Levi into doing the Scout salute with the rest of them. (“I just did it in the scene, though… Fine, I’ll indulge in your corniness for today, you dorks.”) When he presses his fist to his chest one last time, the veterans erupt into cheers.
Hange and Erwin both stay back for a little longer. The trio pose for more photos, all grinning widely, though you decide to put a stop to the mini-photoshoot when Hange attempts to pick Levi up bridal-style and almost drops him.
(“When I said ‘put me down’, I didn’t mean for you to drop me with no fucking warning!”
“I didn’t mean to drop you. Besides, I caught you, didn’t I? You’re fine, see?”)
After that fiasco, Levi asks to take one with the original Special Ops Squad, as it had been years since they’d managed to meet up.
Zeke comes back for another photo, slipping one arm around Levi’s shoulders. As you meet the taller man’s eyes over the top of his phone, he winks mischievously, holding two fingers up in bunny ears above Levi’s unsuspecting head. Say nothing, he mouths to you. With a herculean effort, you suppress your laugh. Zeke has made it his personal mission to photobomb every main cast member from the finale. After months of shooting, Levi is the last one standing, and it’s incredibly entertaining how hard Zeke tries to finish his mission, even now.
“Hand down, Zeke.”
“Damn it, how did you know?”
“You’re about as subtle as Reiner is when he pretends he hasn’t broken a prop.”
Zeke laughs. “Nothing gets past you, Levi, does it?”
As the two continue to playfully bicker, more jokes than actual verbal barbs, you open the photo you’d managed to take split seconds before Levi called Zeke out. “Mission accomplished,” you say, and a delighted Zeke reaches over Levi’s head to high-five you. Looking mildly betrayed, Levi whips his head back around to face you.
You grin sheepishly as you pass Zeke’s phone back to him, the photo on display. “Sorry. I had to help him.”
“Why are you two like this?” Levi says, shaking his head, barely holding back a smile. He and Zeke part after a hug and a promise to get drinks soon.
Levi’s promptly joined by Falco and Gabi, and after their photo is taken, he ruffles their hair affectionately, which makes Gabi yelp. He really has stepped into the ‘cast dad’ role, a development that you find endlessly endearing. Soon after, their parents arrive to take them home— the kids have quite an early start tomorrow to film their scenes with Annie and Kiyomi on the boat.
Jean and Connie take the chance to snatch a couple of selfies with him, before the latter asks if he could join them to film a TikTok for the show’s official account. To Levi’s utmost relief, it isn’t a dance challenge. Connie instead asks him a few questions about how he feels about the show ending, and what the show means to him—he’s putting together a montage of every cast member’s responses.
On the sidelines, just out of view, you watch Levi give his answers. An ember of warmth kindles in your chest.
Soon after, Levi’s approached by the stunt team, headed by an old friend of Levi’s from his stuntman days. She’d made a cameo in the third season as Kenny’s lieutenant. You happily take a group photo for them.
After you hand Caven’s phone back to her, Hange taps you on the shoulder, having finished catching up with the other cast members. You smile as they hug you tight, swaying on the spot; today is the first time you’ve seen them since they filmed their death scene a few months back.
“It’s so good to see you!” They say, linking arms with yours. “Sorry it took so long to come and find you.”
“Don’t worry! It’s lovely having you back. How are you finding your return?”
“It’s great! I’ve really been missing this, even though it hasn’t been that long.” They pout.
“Oh, we’ve all missed you too, Hange,” you say, smiling. “Have you been up to much since you left?”
“Well, I visited my dad for a bit, then I sent in an audition tape for this thriller movie that my agent thinks I’ll be a good pick for. I also got a few other offers, but I’m a little on the fence. I’ll consider those if I don’t get that thriller role, but who knows when I’ll hear back from them?”
“I bet you’ll get it. Thrillers are right up your alley.”
“You flatter me, dear,” They grin. “Anyways, I am here to say that you are the only one left who has not taken a picture with Levi. And that needs to change. The two of you need something to remember this day by!” You realise they’ve been guiding you towards the rock, where Levi, Mikasa, Armin and Eren are deep in conversation. The younger actors are laughing boisterously at something Levi had said, heads tilted back, sporting wide grins. Levi’s still cradling his bouquet carefully, a soft smile as he speaks, looking up at his younger cast mates with endearment. Your heart warms at the sight.
The quartet look up as you approach. The younger actors wave goodbye, disappearing into the crowd. Hange quickly ushers you and Levi together, their phone already out of their pocket. “Alrighty, here we go!” They cheer. “Oi, look lively now, Levi. It’s the last photo!”
“Was about time we did this,” you whisper to him as you come close. At first, you settle into your usual stance whenever you take a photo with a cast member, but Levi is not just any cast member. Not to you. Gnawing on your lip, you grapple with yourself for a fleeting moment. Your professional side barely puts up a resistance, and so you lean in to whisper a question. Briefly, you wonder what it would feel like to kiss the delicate shell of his ear. You banish the traitorous thought, best as you can.
“Hey, can I put my arm around you for this?” As close as you and Levi have grown over the years, the two of you save your brief hugs for behind the scenes, in private. Physical affection is rare with him otherwise—whilst the cast tend to be very touchy with one another, Levi is usually seen on the sides, watching them with a quiet fondness in his eyes. That hug from earlier—it had to be a fluke, right?
And yet, he sighs, and bridges the small gap between you. His free arm moves behind you, a warm, firm hand comes to rest at your back. “You don’t have to ask, you know,” he murmurs in return. “I hugged you earlier, didn't I? Quit worrying. Go ahead.”
Warmth blooming inside you, you lean sideways towards him on impulse. You slide your own arm behind him, and Levi leans into your touch. “Just so you know,” he continues, “it was an honour working with you too.”
Hange starts to count down from three. A wave of emotion hits you, almost sweeps you off your feet. This is it. Your last day of working with him.
Still so much left unsaid.
Straining to keep your composure, you offer a wide, bright smile for the camera.
———
The next few hours are spent tidying and cleaning up. Most of the actors have gone home, but Levi stays behind to help out the crew, as he always does without fail. With how emotionally taxing the day had been, it’s a wonder he didn’t go back to his trailer immediately to crash. As if you couldn’t admire him any more.
Your eyelids are heavy by the time you finish up and arrive at Levi’s trailer. When you enter, he is slumped in a chair in front of the vanity mirror, already changed out of his costume.
Neither of you say a single word as you carefully wipe away the scars and the grime. Your traitorous hands linger for a split second too long whenever they brush against his smooth skin. In his stormy eyes are that same intense look he’d given you when you first appeared with the bouquet.
You wonder what it means.
Sooner or later, one of you will have to break this fragile silence. Levi decides to take the matter into his own hands, catching you off guard. “I guess this is it.”
The sting in your eyes returns with a fierce vengeance. You turn away for a moment, rapidly blinking your oncoming tears away. An invisible vice clamps down, mercilessly clenching your chest.
You choke on your words, but you get them out somehow. “I’ll miss you.” Not the three words you’ve been yearning to say for the last year, but it will have to do. “I’m going to miss you. So much. It’s been…” You wrack your brain, but there is no singular adjective you know of that could truly describe the past few years working on this show with him. “You know what I mean. Right?”
“I know what you mean.” Levi stands, turning to face you properly. The troubled crease between his brows return. “Look, I… I have to tell you something. Hear me out?”
Your heart thunders in your chest. You nod. “Yeah. Of course.”
His Adam’s apple bobs as he swallows. “Remember this morning? I said I was satisfied with my work here. That I have no regrets.”
Barely able to breathe, you can only manage to nod.
“But that isn’t true. Not really. There is one thing I regret,” he says, slowly, cautiously.
Voice barely a whisper, you ask. “What is it?”
“That we never talked about what almost happened at Halloween last year.”
The world comes to a halt.
Dimmed lights. Bass reverberates through your bones. The aftertaste of a Bloody Mary lingers on your tongue. Levi is just centimetres away, his chest almost flush with yours. His eyes valiantly fight to stay focused on the intricate titan-shifter makeup on your cheeks, before he gives in and his line of sight drops to your lips. Unconsciously, he leans in slightly, seemingly gravitating towards you.
Devastating. That is the first word that comes to your mind. It is high time you realise that he will be the end of you; he could ask anything of you and you’d do it. Your heart beats for him.
Caught in his orbit, your face tilts towards his.
A drunken crew member barges past, jostling your shoulder. You yelp, stumbling to the side, before Levi’s hands—warm, steady, safe—catch you. The spell broken, he lets go the moment you are upright, averting his eyes from yours. Levi takes a step backwards—a small one, because there is barely any space in the corner of the room the two of you are tucked into. But to you, he suddenly feels so distant, that he might as well be on the other side of the universe.
“I need some air,” he says, stoic mask falling back into place. Before you can ask him what’s wrong, Levi turns on his heel and disappears into the crowd, taking all the warmth of the room with him.
No. This is dangerous territory. Since that night, the two of you had constructed an unspoken agreement to pretend nothing had ever happened. Levi had never made any impression that it was anything other than a drunken lapse in professionalism. For a while, you wondered if he even remembered that moment, or if it had all been in your head, a result of you projecting your own desires onto him.
Regardless, he had never brought it up. You’d been content to do the same. It was—and still is—impossible to fathom that Levi would ever want you.
“Tell me,” he says hoarsely, “that I wasn’t imagining things that night, and every day since. Tell me I’m not imagining that you’ve been looking at me like…”
Your breath hitches in your throat. “Like what?”
“Like that!” He snaps. His hands tremble in a way you’ve never seen before as he gestures towards you, voice tinged with desperation. “Like how you’re looking at me right now. I-I don’t know how I didn’t see it sooner. Because if I had… maybe I would’ve…”
The staggering realisation of what he’s trying to say sinks in.
Choking back a sob of relief, you reach out for his hands, and he offers them to you with no resistance. A light blush sweeps across his face as he stares at your interlocking fingers with something akin to wonder.
Breathlessly, you dare to ask. “Do you mean it? That if you had known how I felt, you… you would’ve kissed me?”
“Yes. I would’ve. I wanted to, more than anything.” With that, Levi finally looks up from your joined hands. The burning look he’s been giving you all throughout today—you recognise it, now, plain and simple.
His earlier words ring in your mind. I don’t know how I didn’t see it sooner.
“Oh, Levi,” you whisper.
He continues on. “And if I had known how you felt, I wouldn’t have upped and left you like that. I was being a shitty coward, for running away and pretending it never happened, and never giving you an explanation when you deserved one. I was scared, I think, of ruining what we already had. You didn’t imagine anything on my part, it happened, and you didn’t do anything wrong that night… I’m sorry.”
Smiling, you squeeze his hands; warm, steady, safe. “You aren’t imagining things on my end either. I’m in love with you, and have been for a while now.” You don’t need him to say those precious words back for now—Levi’s endearingly clumsy attempt at confessing means more to you than he’ll ever know. “And I forgive you for running out on me that night. We both thought it didn’t mean anything to the other person. For so long, I thought that even if you did, things would never work out, that today would be goodbye, because I have a new contract on the other side of the country, and you’ll be going back to stunt work, a-and…” Your voice trembles, so you force yourself to stop, and breathe.
“It will work. I swear it, I’m not saying goodbye to you. I don’t care what’s coming next, we can make it work.” He seems to muster his resolve, tugging you closer. “No more dancing around this like idiots. We have enough lost time to make up for.”
Smiling so widely your cheeks ache, you playfully poke his cheek. “Well, you can always begin with the kiss you owe me, yeah?”
“You smart-arse.” Levi chuckles, before gently cupping the back of your head with his hand. In a swift movement, he leans in and captures your lips with his.
It’s nothing short of divine.
Levi kisses you with years worth of yearning behind it. His other hand moves to cradle your face, thumb brushing against the curve of your cheek, wiping away a stray tear of happiness.
Eyes fluttering shut, you deepen the kiss. Tongues move in tandem, and it isn’t long before hands begin to roam, exploring the terrains of each other’s bodies with an almost innocent curiosity. Heat simmers underneath your skin, a carnal flame yearning to be stoked, to devour.
For now, though, you’ll have to temper it.
Coming up for air, you close your eyes, resting your forehead against his. As much as you desperately want him, you don’t want your first time having sex with Levi to be in a trailer on set, with multiple crew members still milling around outside and packing up for the day. You tell him as such, and he murmurs his agreement after kissing you once more.
“Glad we’re on the same page about that, so…” Realising what you’re about to say next, you choke back a grin at your own cheesiness. “You wanna go back to your place or mine?”
Levi rests his forehead on your shoulder and chokes back a laugh. “Fuck, that’s such a cliché line.”
You roll your eyes good-naturedly. “Yeah, yeah, laugh all you want, but the question still stands.”
He looks up at you, mirth dancing in his eyes. “Yours, then.”
The time spent packing up and driving back to your home crawls by agonisingly slowly. The moment the two of you cross the threshold onto your home, he’s closing the gap between the two of you, kissing you breathless, thoughtless, until only your longing for him remains. So much so that you almost forget to stop and get a condom out from your drawer—in fact, Levi has to remind you.
The rare few times you had allowed yourself to think about it, you’d pictured Levi as a tender lover, gentle despite his coarseness. He is all this and more. At his fingertips, you come alive. As he makes love to you, laughs and sweet nothings fill the air between the deep kisses you share. You should’ve expected just how generous he can be in bed, but it still takes you by surprise, the way he worships your body with a deep-rooted reverence, determined to pleasure you over and over. In turn, you reciprocate eagerly, honoured that Levi trusts you to take care of him in return, that he is so readily vulnerable with you.
Once the two of you are finally, utterly spent, Levi nudges you awake before you can fully slip into a deep doze, cosy and comfortable in his embrace. “Hey. Gotta clean ourselves up, sleepyhead.”
You chuckle drowsily, and miraculously muster up the strength to crawl out of his arms, out of the warm sheets. “The bathroom is just down the hall,” you yawn, trudging towards a cupboard not the other side of your room. “You can shower first whilst I change the sheets and find you a towel and some spare clothes, ‘kay?”
“Or,” Levi says, voice hoarse with the same kind of contented exhaustion that makes you yearn to curl up beneath the sheets in his arms, “you could come with me.” He pulls you back in, peppering gentle kisses along your neck and shoulder, which tickle slightly.
Euphoric, you close your eyes and laugh. “Okay.”
Showering together is an incredibly sweet, domestic affair. Long after you’ve rinsed off all the lather, you’re both hesitant to leave the warmth of the running water, content to cling onto each other and relish in the feeling of skin against skin.
After the two of you dry off and change the sheets, you climb into bed. Half awake and basking in each other’s presence, you pull him close, nestling your head on his chest. When was the last time you had felt so cherished, so happy?
Sleep claims you swiftly, but not before Levi kisses the top of your head and tells you what you already know:
“I’m in love with you, too.”
———
Several weeks later
The wrap party is well underway by the time you and Levi arrive.
The lights are dim, and the music reverberates through your bones. Levi’s hand finds a home in the curve of your waist as he guides you through the crowd of drunken cast and crew members. His touch anchors you, and you find yourself smiling giddily.
After helping yourself to a cocktail, the hours fly by. Apparently, the entire cast plus half of the crew (including all of the makeup assistants under your command) had been rooting for you and Levi to get together. Tonight when you finally revealed you were in a relationship with him to your juniors, you were subjected to an intense barrage of questions. This, however, paled in comparison to Hange’s reaction when Levi held your hand in front of their very eyes—they’d launched an interrogation so brutal you wonder why they didn’t enter law enforcement instead.
Soon after escaping Hange’s interrogation, you two both get another drink. “Everybody seems far too invested in this development than they should be,” you sigh, still frazzled. “How long do you reckon they’ve been shipping us?”
A look of exasperation flits across Levi’s face. “I don’t know, and I hate that I even know what ‘shipping’ means in this context. Also, I saw Zeke give Erwin money when Hange was drilling us. Fuckers had some kind of bet running on us. Don’t even wanna know how long that had gone on for.”
You tip your head back and laugh. “Colour me unsurprised. That sounds very on-brand for Zeke and Erwin. You know, I think I saw Armin and Connie do the same. Guess Armin’s not as angelic as he looks.”
“That’s been known, sweetheart. The kid’s a menace in disguise.” He kisses your cheek. “Just like you, actually, now that I think about it.”
Playfully, you swat him away. “Hey, who are you calling a menace?”
Eventually, the two of you find yourselves catching some air outside, needing a moment to sober up and recalibrate after a whirlwind of social interaction. Levi’s hand returns to your waist and tugs you closer to him, seeking out your warmth. Melting into his touch, you do you best to commit the feeling of his embrace to memory. Soon, you’ll move away for a few months for your next contract, but you no longer fear it. Levi had sworn to you that this would work out, and there is nobody’s word you trust more than his.
Your love for each other has endured for years in the past. A handful more months is nothing.
Levi shifts slightly to get a better look at you, and cups your cheek. Meeting his gaze, your heart stops; his eyes are a breathtaking silver in the moonlight. Easily the most expressive feature he has, you could get lost in them for hours.
Caught in his orbit, your face tilts towards his.
This time, Levi meets you halfway.

Sometimes a saviour is a soldier afraid of peace
Tumblr media
Levi Ackerman x Fem!Reader
4.4k words. Also on ao3.
Tumblr media
He looks at her in quiet admiration.
He doesn’t deserve her. But again, he doesn’t really deserve anything. He already has gotten too much: spoiled by the sweet possibility of life when all his comrades have fallen, their bodies twisted, mangled by titans and enemies alike.
Levi hardly cries, but he wants to cry in that moment. She turns on the stove for him, and rummages through his cabinets. She finds two cups and a sob is trapped inside his throat.
He doesn’t fucking understand why she stays, why she puts up with his sorry ass but, damn it. Damn it if he at least doesn’t try.
The war is over, but the demons still haunt Levi. Luckily for him, the last member of his Squad seems focused on remaining by his side as they both face this new enemy: peace.
This was !!! My first fic written in English, actually. Also my first (and only time so far) writing for aot. Levi is such an angsty angel, and this story wouldn’t leave my head, so I had to end up writing it, ofc. This has been in the drafts for... months. Too many months already. And tbh I'm not a fan of how it came out. But. Posting it in case someone else can enjoy Levi finally getting some love and comfort, sjsjs.
Content: Use of 3rd person pronouns. No use of y/n. Mostly Levi's pov. Reader was part of his Squad. Post!Rumbling Levi. Written with the manga ending in mind. A lot of fluff, rude Levi even if he doesn't mean it (but reader knows he means no harm). Healing. Spooning (Levi as the little spoon btw. He deserves it).
Warnings: depressive thoughts, self confidence issues. Mentions of past violence (but nothing gruesome, it's all in passing). SFW. No beta reader we die like everybody in Aot here.
Tumblr media
They always meet. Every single day, she leaves her little flat to find him near the fountain in the Marleyan park, eager to push his wheelchair and pass some time with him.
Levi doesn’t understand. When Onyankopon, or Falco, or Gabi let her take the wheelchair, he just ponders. He could understand why they would accompany him: because he is old? because they feel pity of him?… But her?
Nonetheless, every single afternoon, she comes to him. He doesn’t recall when this custom began. It’s like slowly, but surely, she started digging a place into his routine. She was part of his remaining squad, and he really didn’t see any point to her bubbling-self still being by his side.
Still, he appreciates her visits. She exchanges pleasantries with Gabi, already smiling. Why is she smiling?
“Hi, Captain,” she says. Should he feel mocked? He isn’t a captain anymore and the title feels too much, even if it’s comforting in some way. Levi doesn’t reply. He just nods, silently acknowledging her presence. “Is it okay if we go to the stalls for a while, Captain?” She inquires, as if it was the first time they did it, and not a weekly occurrence. His jaw tenses. He doesn’t understand, still. She surely pities him. She has to.
He agrees to her proposal, though.
“Sure,” he replies, barely any emotion on his face.
She smiles at him. For a moment, they look at each other. She sees that familiar scarred face, a grey eye gazing into her soul. He sees the older face of her remaining squad member, some wrinkles next to her eyes, her figure dressed in green. For some reason, he liked that colour on her.
He doesn’t share that with her, though.
“Let’s get going,” she adds, a little chuckle in her voice — he can hear it — as she starts pushing the wheelchair. They check out the little shops that are already so familiar. Sometimes she signals a piece of jewellery or clothes. She asks for his opinion, or points at a silly artwork, in hopes of making him laugh.
When the cold starts to set in, she stops them in front of a coffee shop.
“Wait here a second, Captain,” she tells him.
“Where would I go, anyway?” He wants to say, snarky, but he doesn’t really bother in opening his mouth. He stays silent still, perking his head up to see what’s she’s doing.
“Oi. coffee?” He complains.
She directs her gaze to him and chuckles, paying the vendor.
“I know you like tea but it’s time to broaden your horizons,” she explains. She comes up to him again, and hands him one of the cups. He sighs, but accepts the drink still.
“What is it this time?”
“Just chocolate. Hot chocolate,” she answers, already sipping hers.  She lets out a content sigh when the warmth of it starts to fill her belly.
“I don’t like chocolate,” Levi mutters under his breath. He is lying and she knows it.
“Tsk. That’s not true. Everybody likes chocolate.”
“… Fine,” he sips his drink and, admittedly, enjoys it. She hands him her drink so she can push the wheelchair again, and he takes it, guarding both cups on his lap, a familiar action for the two of them now.
“Where do we go?” She asks.
Levi shrugs. “As if I had a choice.”
She looks at him still, and when he can see her, barely from his peripheral vision, he sees a softer face. She’s waiting for his reply. He looks at her, looks at her lips. She isn’t smiling anymore. Levi sighs, suddenly feeling guilty.
He doesn’t understand still why she does this for him.
“Captain?” She says, just above a whisper, since there are people around them and they both just want to have a calm evening, without the risk of being recognised.
Levi nods before he even opens his mouth.
“The bridge.”
“Good,” she agrees as he sips from his drink again, guided by her. He does feel warmer. Levi inspects the people around him in silence, letting himself be carried, taken to a nicer place. “Hange would have like this,” he thinks. He looks down to suddenly realise he is clenching his fist, hard. “If you could even call it a hand…”
“We’re here, Captain,” she announces, letting his wheelchair rest next to a bench, overlooking the water. She takes a seat next to him, and Levi hands her the drink. He wonders if she noticed how tense he’s been feeling today.
“Be quick with that, brat, or it will get cold,” he warns, as if to pre-emptively shut down any words from her. He’s not sure he could handle it.
She just nods.
“It’s still warm,” she mentions after a moment.
The sunset is taking its place on the sky, a beautiful palette of oranges and pinks against a very flat horizon. A reminder of what was once lost.
“Good,” he says.
Levi looks at her. She is still looking forward, features illuminated by the falling sun, breeze caressing her face. There is something in his heart that aches, but he doesn’t want to think about that. He doesn’t dare to. Levi is old, too old, and too broken. And she only pities him.
He coughs to catch her attention, though.
“Hmh, yeah?” She immediately says.
“I heard the Scouts were going back to Paradis tomorrow,” he begins, the question lingering in the air. The small group was leaving first time in the morning.
“Yep.”
Levi blinks, expecting her to say more, but she doesn’t. He doesn’t want to ask. It feels… too much. He feels too exposed doing that, lower lip trembling.
“Are you going?” He finally dares to ask.
She turns back to him again, and looks at him with the sweetest gaze. Levi doesn’t miss how she looks at his lips first.
“I’m not.”
“Why?”
“I don’t have anything there,” she replies, matter-of-factly. Levi wants to hit his head against something, still uncertain about what that means. Does that mean that she has something here? Someone?
She must notice his doubts, so she lowers her gaze. “I mean. You know I lost my family during my first years as a Scout. And knowing that we tried to stop Eren… All the military forces in the island won’t be very happy to see me. Or any of us. I’ve done my part. I do not want more fighting.”
“… Right”. That still doesn’t answer his question, but it is enough to satisfy his curiosity without seeming to eager. He sips his drink again: it’s getting colder.
“You didn’t want to go, Captain?” There it was again, that fucking title that felt like a joke. He chuckles, not looking at her anymore but rather at the sunset.
“Why do you still call me like that?” He spits back.
“Captain?”
“Yeah,” His tone is unintentionally rude, but he can’t help it, not even around her.
“Well… It’s a sign of respect, don’t you think?”
Levi chuckles, amused.
“I never took you for a polite person.” He doesn’t want to look at her still. She hasn’t added anything, said anything else. What is she thinking of?
She looks at him. There’s a warmth in her belly which has nothing to do with the chocolate anymore. She knows: Her Captain has been way more vulnerable and open since the Rumbling. The little gestures that he could so easily hide before are now an open book. Or at least she feels that way, since she was always one to look at him.
It was so easy to just… stare at him. Admire him in every sense of the word, even now. When they were both soldiers they would fight alongside each other, against innumerable dangers. He was barely visible in the spectrum: always so fast, always so precise. A ray of dark hair and strong limbs, destroying everything to provide peace, to provide protection.
There was no point in denying how she felt about him… Except, maybe, to him.
“I don’t think I would like going back to Paradis,” she finally adds, finishing her drink. He seems to reflect on that idea for a moment, before nodding. He wants to ask why but he doesn’t dare to. “I’m just… comfortable here,” she finishes with a sigh. “This is okay.”
“That’s good,” he says, barely a spark of enthusiasm in his voice, but enough for her to notice.
She looks up at him again. And he feels tiny and scared suddenly, because she looks at him with wonder and care. Levi doesn’t mean to, but he ends up letting his drink fall from his hands, whether due to his nervousness or the state of his hand after the war.
“Shit,” he spits, upset.
“Sh, it’s alright, Captain.” In a second she is picking up the cup, handing him a handkerchief to dry his hands. She walks a few steps to throw both cups into a trashcan and is again, by his side. Such a quick interaction so as to ease his shame, he could notice it. “Are you alright?”
Levi still doesn’t know. He doesn’t know why she still treats him with such respect, why she seems to care so much for him. But he wants to find out, somehow. He barely nods, but she notices it.
“Good,” she says, while taking the handkerchief back. She is about to put it into her bag again when she feels a hand grabbing hers.
Levi.
He doesn’t even say anything. He doesn’t know how. She seems to understand, though, squeezing his hand, softly. Levi quickly lets her hand go, his cheeks going red. She gets behind the wheelchair again, as the sun is about to disappear, and Levi can hear her chuckling.
“Let’s get you home, Captain.”
He stays quiet, unsure if he could even say something useful.
There’s so much he doesn’t know how to say. How to do.
While she is pushing his chair he notices it again. A slight tremor in her right hand. “My wrist seems to ache lately… Must be from holding the blades for so many years,” she had explained in passing a couple weeks ago. He realises that it’s probably taking a strain on her to push him every fucking day.
“Oi,” he says.
“Yeah?”
“Stop pushing me. I can handle it,” he explains, tone serious.
“Oh, no,” her hand is trembling still. “It’s fine, it’s no bother for me, Captain.”
“… It’s an order,” he commands after a moment. She stops in her tracks and he can hear a gentle laugh coming from behind him.
“It had been a while since that, huh.” Confidently, she places one of her hands on his shoulder, gently tapping it. Levi smiles. Barely curving his lips, but he does. He is about to be brave, hold her hand on his shoulder when she removes it from him. “Shit,” he thinks. “Too slow… Too slow? Slow for what? Tsk.”
Despite his missing fingers, he can still push his wheelchair quite properly. It also helps that he can see his street far ahead. She walks comfortably besides him, a silence and gentle ghost as his most devoted companion.
Yeah. There’s definitely something aching in his chest. He had been noticing the past days, feeling getting more painful as they both approach his place. And it has nothing to do with his faulty joints or damaged body or excessive age.
When they reach his door, she asks for his key. Levi gives it to her, his hand lingering for a second too long, reflecting on the brief touch of hands as she grabs it to unlock the door.
He is tired.
And he feels incredibly silly when he realises he doesn’t want her to leave.
“There we go, Captain. I help you in?” she suggests with a bright smile, opening the door.
“… Yes.”
She steps inside and pushes the chair into his living room, almost getting it next to his couch.
“That’s enough” he decides, in a semblance of independency he still wants to maintain.
She nods. “Okay… I guess… I’ll get going, Captain.”
Levi lifts up his gaze. He wants to ask… He wants to know… He savours her image for a moment, her tired expression and the way her dress now looks clumsy and wrinkled but he doesn’t care. Before, before everything had ended up like this he would remind every single cadet to iron their uniforms, all the outfits presentable, so as to look like respectable soldiers and honourable bodies if the occasion arose. Now she can have the privilege of looking messy. Of not worrying about death so often.
“No,” he mutters.
“Huh?” she inquires, taking a step forward.
“Shit,” Levi thinks. “I… I want tea,” he makes up a quick lie.
“Oh, sure. Yes, Captain.” She leaves her bag on the couch and goes into the kitchen, getting a kettle full of water.
He stands up. His body still holds that ability, though his legs get tired rather quickly. He can still walk, so he does until he reaches the kitchen. She is still deciding on the teas when she sees him.
“Oh, no, Captain, please, just don’t…”
He interrupts her, grabs her waist carelessly and pushes her towards the couch, barely moving her.
“Let me handle it myself.”
“Levi…” She whispers, their faces inches apart.
“Go. Sit,” he mumbles, biting his lips and sending his eyes lower, so as to avoid her face.
“Are you sure?” She inquires a moment after, still close to him. He notices she has a hand on his waist as well, a protective aid making sure he stays on two feet.
“Yes,” he says, more commanding this time. He grabs that hand of hers and pushes her away gently now.
She nods, understandingly.
“I’ll be in the living room,” she adds.
Levi nods at her, making sure she finally gets that ass of hers in the couch. He is now faced with his kitchen. Most of the cups and teas, everything has been moved lower, so as to accommodate to his wheelchair. Slowly, he kneels, searching for a specific flavour for her. When he finally finds the peppermint and rose one, he mentally cheers. He stands up again, slowly, as if to show confidence, making sure from his peripheral view that she isn’t coming to his aid.
She isn’t. He catches her averting her eyes, though. A confirmation that she has been staring.
He decides to stare as well. Supporting himself on his weakened legs, he waits for the kettle to boil, while looking at her. It’s as if she could notice that, because her head doesn’t move, still fixated on an indescriptible point in his living room.
“Oi, what you looking at?” He says, a bit more light-hearted.
A smile forms on her lips before she even turns her head towards him. She doesn’t answer. Just keeps smiling at him.
“Fuck,” he thinks when he realises he has also slightly curved his lips.
Quickly he turns towards the stove, the kettle already boiling. Levi carefully fills the cups with water, letting the leaves rest. He lifts his gaze up to her for a second but it is already enough for her to notice.
“Need help with the cups?” Her, always so worried, so in tune with his needs. No need for words.
“Of fucking course.”
Still, the only answer he gives her is a polite nod. She stands up, approaching him.
“I’ll handle it, Captain. Just take a seat.”
He lets out a sigh, taking himself to the couch and plopping himself there.
“It’s hard,” Levi thinks as he sees her come back to the living room, two cups in her hands. He accepts the drink, his gaze not leaving her features. “I… I can’t.”
He knows he can’t accept kindness: he doesn’t know how to. Still, he tenses his jaw and forces himself to sip the tea as she takes a seat next to him.
“Peppermint, huh?” She hums mostly to herself.
 “… Yeah,” comes out of his mouth, unsure, less braver than expected. Is he insecure? Has he made a mistake?
“Good choice” She declares and he breathes again, realising that he had been holding his breath. “Bet you already knew that, right?” She adds, cocking her head.
Levi looks at her again. He has been avoiding her eyes but he hadn’t been trained as a soldier to back down in times of peace.
“I did,” he says, his tone firm, a very weak attempt at showing confidence still. “It’s the one you would always ask for when we would have meetings with the Scouts.”
“It’s good tea.” Her tone seems softer now.
Levi hums, too deep inside his mind to notice it.
She wonders. Wonders if he has ever realized that the only reason she would wander through the headquarters late at night was just to be found and reprimanded by him, the way she would be easily entertained by Levi’s stern face. Wondered if Hange had ever told him about the time she had fallen asleep in their office and woke up, mumbling his name, much to Hange’s delight, though they had promised to keep it a secret.
He looks down at his legs, at his carpeted floor.
He wonders if she had ever noticed the way he would mindlessly lick his lips after looking at her, the boring uniform suddenly a beautiful outfit, making her stand out. Wonders if it was too late to tell her that, yes, after Hange and her had found him, and stitched him up, that he had heard every single word she had uttered near his heart, softly pressing her timid hands on his chest. There hadn’t been time then to discuss anything or even think if it had meant anything else than old scouts being protective of each other, but now…
They finish their teas in silence. It isn’t uncomfortable, rather the opposite, despite the fact that Levi has started nervously tapping his feet against the floor. It is dark outside already, the light from the lamps flowing into Levi’s house, a dog barking a few blocks away.
She stands up, makes sure to wash her cup in the sink and put it away before returning to him.
“Captain?” She mutters. No need for more words.
Levi hands her the cup with slow movements, as if trying to prolong that insignificant action for as long as possible. And when she is already about to head into the kitchen, little plate and teacup in her hand, he decides to be brave. No more lying to himself, no more being a coward. Too many people have died, have bleed, have sacrificed the little they had for a selected group of survivors to be able to live. To enjoy the remaining Earth. For the little ones that survived to be able to find some meaning. Something worth all the pain.
Basking in the fear serves no one. In fact, makes all the death meaningless.
So, Levi looks up at her and grabs her hand, even if he is scared still. Trembling fingers dancing on hers until they secure her hand softly in his. He feels warm even if he doesn’t know what to say, how to convey what he feels. Such a shadow of the man he was. So stupid now.
Levi just wants her to say.
She gasps at the contact but quickly composes herself. A shy smile showing up on her face. They stay like that for a moment, neither daring to break the silence.
“Levi?” She asks after a moment, moving closer to his face, as if asking for permission.
He can only look at her lips in reply.
She shortens the distance between them and kisses him on his lips. It isn’t a big kiss, too flashy or provocative: just a tender contact between two broken people. As soon as he has processed what was going on, she has already moved forward, pressing a kiss on the tip of his nose.
And then, even higher, another kiss on his forehead, her lips remaining close to his face. Levi can’t say anything. Barely reacting. But when she looks at his eyes, she is greeted by the sweet glimmer of tears in them.
Levi. Happy, at last.
And as if reading his mind, she utters: “Do you want me to stay, Levi?”
“Yes. Yes, I do.”
She complies. In the quiet, late hours of the night, Levi wakes up, his body feeling too rested already. It was a habit hard to break, he wouldn’t sleep much anyway. He sighs still, feeling her body pressing against his, holding him from behind. She has one hand on his shoulder, the other keeping him safe and secured, hugging his waist close. He dares to smile and grab that hand across his belly with both of his hands, so as to make sure that it is real: he is being held. There is someone else with him. Levi isn’t alone. Someone is taking care of him. Someone he’s been devoted to for so many years.
He wants to nuzzle up closer, hide in her chest or neck and feel more.
But he doesn’t dare to. He can’t allow himself to do that yet.
So he stays awake in silence, hearing the soothing and steady rhythm of her heartbeat.
Levi still doesn’t understand, though.
He doesn’t want to think of why she has chosen him, how he got this privilege so late in his life, when all hope seems to be lost and the thought of a partner didn’t cross his mind at all. He also doesn’t know what to do with this gift, this blessing. Why? How? He is such a crippled shadow of what he used to be. Slow, so consumed by roughness and violence and so useless now.
He has always had something to fight for: his life, his friends, his Squad, Erwin, Hange. Yet since the Rumbling he has just… fallen behind. He is just existing and it seems like his body has finally caught up to his age: no longer agile and strong, but a weakened man, finally leaving the survival mode that has characterised every single aspect of his life. He doesn’t have any goals or dreams now. Everything had been slowly trampled down like the titans destroying all land and all life.
He shivers, remembering that day and holds her hand tighter.
Once he had completed the promise made to Erwin, his last order, he had nothing more. No more commands. No more slaying titans.
Just existing.
He doesn’t want that. He has been a fighter, a rebel, a monster his whole life. He only knew of endurance and compliance with the spirit of life, of resistance. He doesn’t know of anything else: the calmness, the quietness, the routine walks and just reading books and sitting on his porch… That is not him. That isn’t life. Being able to choose things for himself, devour life gently and enjoy it instead of painfully trying to keep it close, to grip it between calloused fingers… Peace isn’t familiar.
He has nothing to devote himself to, nothing to prove or fight for.
“Yeah,” he thinks. “Everything is… meaningless… Or it was.”
He closes his eyes, relinquishing himself in the warm body against his.
Some things… Some things have meaning still.
Her.
The way she would scrunch her nose when laughing or buy him drinks or attempt to make him laugh or wear that damn stupid wrinkled dress and — “Fuck. I know her so much by now…”
She had been a Scout too. She had fought and devoted her heart and did everything a Scout had to do. She had fulfilled her duty in the same way he did. She has survived and she doesn’t regret a single thing. Not even this life.
She is at peace.
He wants to sob.
He doesn’t understand peace. Sure, it was his goal, what he always dreamed of, but, damn it. Levi had never thought he would actually get to see something resembling it. Unlike her. She understood what it was: she has accepted peace with open arms and a smile that — fuck, somehow— has been shining on her face throughout the years. Despite so much pain and death…  She still allows herself to fucking live in peace. She forgave herself for the death, for the pain and crimes and let go.
He isn’t sure if he can do the same.
Peace is foreign, strange even. An oddity. And he isn’t stupid, he knows that time would run up someday and that things would turn against them for a second time.
But, still, the promise of the rest of his life in peace lingers.
He could have it.
He fucking could.
Levi reflects on those thoughts for a moment, silent still.
He thinks he can get to an agreement. Maybe, when she wakes up in the morning, he can try to spill his soul to her a little. Try to understand how she handles this life, how she can get up in the mornings after killing so much, and just have tea with him.
But for now, in the quietness of the night, as the old warrior he was, he does the only thing he knows: he promises to dedicate his heart once more.
He finally has a reason, a purpose, something worth protecting again.
Levi lifts his hand, crossing it on his chest the way all Scouts would do. But he doesn’t press it on his heart, but rather, moves it to hold her hand, the one resting on his shoulder. He squeezes it gently, suddenly feeling too overwhelmed by her. By the silent love she had been proclaiming to him all these years and that he couldn’t reciprocate before.
Yes. Now it is the time.
Levi would dedicate his heart once more.
To her and only her.

I just know after your first night with Levi you’re both addicted and can’t stop. Going at it for weeks, maybe months before you settle down and are comfortable just being in each others presence (if that ever happens its too damn good!) shit after that first night you stay over and once it’s morning and time to go because you have to work he pulls you back in for a quick one! And you’re a little late but blame unexpected traffic 🤭. You’re like teenagers who can’t keep their hands off each other but also the intimacy and the connection you feel with one another is something youve never experienced with any previous partner and thats what makes it so addicting. You’re both also more comfortable trying new things 🤭. It feels so good to finally be truly intimate and trust your partner 100%.

Note: Wow, thanks for the love, guys! Here's part two, hope you enjoy.
‐--------------------
He's experienced a lot in his short life. But interactions of the romantic kind aren't something he's familiar with. Despite his his feelings for you and innocent exchanges of affection here and there, he really isn't sure where to start. Levi breathes in deeply and exhales, trying to collect his thoughts.You wanted to be intimate with him. You wanted him to be your first. He could only thank the heavens for the opportunity to show you how much you mean to him, to show you the very least of what you deserve. To be loved, cherished, and worshipped.
Levi pulls you close to him on the bed, his arms wrapped around you as he leans closer, and your lips are practically brushing against each other. "I'd do anything for you, you know that, right?"
Your hand still resting against his cheek, you scan his face for any signs of reluctantly. Both of you lean into one another, and finally your lips meet for the first time.
Levi can feel your warm hand on his chest, making his body tingle every time it brushes against his skin. His breath grows increasingly heavier, and his heart rate starts to rise as his hand slowly moves down your arm and makes its way to your hips.
You tug his shirt over his head before he does the same to yours and returns to your embrace. The kiss is messy and irrepressible. Both of you are absolutely desperate for the taste of one another after pining so long.
The kiss never wavers as he pushes you down onto the bed and crawls on top of you. He's enjoying the feeling of your body beneath him. Your little moans and mewls encouraged him to go further, as he started slowly moving his hands down your body, his breath growing heavier with every move.
Levi's body aches for you as you touch and trace your fingers over his muscles. He continues to kiss you as your hands explore his body, the body that has kept you safe for all these years, the body you have stolen glances at given any opportunity, the body that you ache for. His grip on your hip gets firmer as he enjoys your every movement, every touch, and every kiss you bestow upon him.
Both of your bodies are in an incredible state of arousal. You attempt to speak up to tell him how you've felt all this time. Even in this intimate moment, you can't quite find the words, even after having just been so bold. You feel a bit embarrassed about your lack of experience, but you're determined to push through, determined to share this moment with him. There's nobody in this world who makes you feel safer.
Levi's eyes shift to yours as he pauses shortly to speak. Seeing that you're struggling.
"You don't have to tell me with words, I know exactly how you feel. I'm nervous, too. I've never done this before either."  He tells you shyly, you smile and nod. "I trust you, Levi." He smiles."Just tell me if anything hurts or you want me to stop, okay?."
He caresses the side of your face. Enjoying every moment of intimacy. Your bodies are already communicating past what you can or can't coherently say. He trails his hand over your breast, gently taking your nipple between his fingers as he begins to suck on the other. You moan at the new and different sensations on each of your nipples. "Levi..." You're moan breathlessly.
"You're beautiful," he says, his voice low. "Let me make you feel good." He says as his mouth returns to your erect nipple. You nod, feeling a sense of excitement and anticipation building within you. You had wanted this for so long. Fucked yourself silly on your fingers night after night at the thought of him. Never able to fully satisfy your desires.
Levi's fingers reach down to your drenched underwear, he rubs his fingers over the fabric and smirks at the thought of making you this aroused, before he moves the garment to one side, feeling your wet slit, he groans as he moves one of his fingers over your clit, caressing the swollen nub gently, eliciting another moan from your lips. As Levi touches you, you feel a surge of pleasure run through your body. You throw your head back, letting out a louder moan as he continues. He looks into your eyes, "Is this okay? Does it feel good?" He asks, your pleasure being his only priority in this moment. You nod, "Yes" you breathe, "It feels good." You mewl as he toys with your clit applying more pressure, before he slowly inserts a finger into your tight heat, you gasp. They're longer than your own, your pussy sucks his finger in, twitching around his digit at the newfound feeling and depth. He moans in suprise at the wet and warm sensation around his finger as he returns to sucking one of your nipples, hunger and desire burning within him as he slowly moves his finger inside of you, when he adds another finger you bite your lip, adjusting to the feeling of a second digit. He moves them rhythmically as he uses his thumb to rub your clit. He had no idea that a womens body would twitch and move around him like this, he gets excited at the thought of how you're going to feel around his cock, trying to ressist the urge to almost dry hump the air as he focuses on only your pleasure for now. He knows the first time can be painful for women. He doesn't want to hurt you, so he's determined to make the process as enjoyable as possible. It doesn't take long for you to feel a familiar knot in your stomach, something you had been able to achieve alone but never this quickly or intense. "Levi, I'm-" you moan as you push your hips up into his fingers as he picks up the pace, he removes his mouth from your nipple and comes up to kiss along your jaw and encourage you "Cum for me, y/n." You squeak delightfully as you come around his fingers, your body shaking from the intensity of the orgasm as he guides you through. He keeps going until you grab his wrist, needing a second from the overstimulation. Levi watches in amazement as you cum around his fingers. He can feel every twitch and spasm, a sense of pride washes over him at having brought you such pleasure. But he wants to see so, so much more of that cute little fucked out face you've just made.
Leaning down to kiss you deeply once more, he smiles. "You did great, such a good girl." He says reassuringly as he removes your drenched underwear and looks over your body. Living in the underground, it isn't the first time he has seen a woman in the nude. However, gazing over the form of someone you love in such an intimate moment is something that he can't describe, something so much more erotic. Your body is so perfect that it's almost like it could've been sculpted by the gods. As you recover from your orgasm and begin to touch him, he can't resist looking at your flushed face, his equally as red giving a slight moan as he reacts to your touch. You trail your hands down to the waistband of his underwear, "Can I?" You ask him, looking into his eyes seductively, he nods. He lets out a shaky breath as you trace your fingers along the trail of hair from his navel to the waistband of his underwear, where it becomes thicker. Anticipation builds within him at the thought of being with you in this way. With need, he guides your hand to his cock, eager to feel your touch there. His breathing is already ragged, his heart pounding in his chest as he anticipates what is to come. He hisses feeling your hand against him through the fabric, before you free his cock from the confinement of his underwear. Your eyes widen as you run your fingers over his length. You internally contemplated how this thing was supposed fit inside you. Levi must have sensed your concern "It'll be fine." He reassures you, struggling to concentrate at the mercy of your touch. As much as he wanted to feel your hands or even mouth around him, he knew he'd never last if things went in that direction. There would be another time, having come this far, of that he was certain.
He enjoys the sensation of you stroking him for a few moments, though, before he tries to read your expression, "Do you want to continue?" He asks nervously. You smile, meeting his gaze and nodding. "Yes." You say seductively. He pulls you in for another kiss as he positions himself at your entrance, slowly rubbing his cock against your dripping wet slit, covering himself in your essence. You both moan into the kiss, the whole situation is so erotic that your mind can only comprehend the sensation of his movements against you, all you want is him to take you. He takes one of your hands and squeezes it tightly as he begins to enter you, the tip of his cock glistening with precum as he moves.
Levi thrusts slowly into you, inch by inch, groaning with pleasure as he feels your virgin pussy clamping down around him. You whimper under him, your nails digging into his shoulders with your free hand as you try to adjust to the alien but welcome feeling of having him inside you. It hurts but it isn't unbearable. Your other hand entwined with his as you both experience this moment together.
Levi tries to be gentle, knowing that it's your first time, but he can't help the intensity of his desire and fights the urge to start thrusting inside you, your tightness and warmth enveloping him completely. Surely, he was in heaven. Nothing on this earth had ever been kind or good to him until there was you. The fact that this was unravelling now between the both of you was unreal.
You look into his eyes, your own completely glazed over with lust. "It's okay, you can move. I'm alright." You say breathlessly.
He moves slowly at first, using your expressions as his guide. His thrusts grow deeper and more forceful with each moment. He captures your lips again passionately, needing to be as close to you as physically possible.
You moan loudly, feeling a sense of pleasure spreading through you as Levi takes you to new heights of ecstasy. You arch your back under him, wrapping your legs around his waist as you try to take him even deeper.
Levi responds, thrusting harder and harder into you with each passing moment. You feel like you're going to explode with pleasure, and you can't help but cry out his name repeatedly as he fills you up with his cock.
The sound of your skin slapping together fills the room as he moves inside you, the intensity between you both, only growing with each passing moment. Your pleasure builds with each of his thrusts, and soon you're both rambling sweet nothings to one another, your bodies writhing together blissfully.
He's delirious with the wet embrace of your pussy sucking him in, the feeling of your walls constricting around his cock almost too much. He knows that you're close to cumming again, he can feel your pussy quivering around him. He moans loudly with you, your tight hole squeezing him as you scream his name. His lips crash down on your own. With one final thrust, he feels his cock pulsing inside of you as he reaches his own orgasm, he lets out a loud groan into the kiss, spilling his seed inside you. Neither of you in the right frame of mind to consider any of the consequences right now. You feel a sense of warmth spreading through you as he finishes. Both of you have a tight grip on one another as you ride out your high. He collapses on top of you, panting heavily as he tries to catch his breath. The room is filled with nothing but the sounds of heavy breathing, the smell of sex and sweat permeates the air.
"I love you, y/n." He says breathlessly in your ear. You trail your fingers over the back of his head, feeling the contrast of longer hairs and his undercut. "I love you too, Levi."

think of me fondly (levi x reader)
Rating: Explicit Pairing: Levi Ackerman/Gender-neutral!Reader Summary: Levi's having trouble adjusting to his missing fingers for a certain task. You offer him a hand. (Literally.)
Also posted on AO3: https://archiveofourown.org/works/51864445
Levi’s apartment is completely dark when you let yourself in. You can’t hear anything from his bedroom and no light is peeking out from under the door, but Levi doesn’t nap often, so you knock gently before opening the door and stepping in. “Levi?”
Levi, eyes squeezed tightly shut and hand moving quickly under his blankets, doesn’t notice your quiet voice or entry.
Holy shit.
A mouthwatering flush has spread down his neck to his bare chest, and some of his dark hair sticks to his forehead with sweat. Though you look away after a few frozen seconds, the image is seared into your brain. Warmth coils low in your belly.
What do you do? If you shut the door and knock louder, you won’t be able to pretend you hadn’t seen anything once you make eye contact with him. You’re a terrible actor. But that would be better than him seeing you standing there like a pervert, face averted but blushing furiously.
With the arousal slowing your thought process, you decide too late. Levi’s eyes flicker open, and in your periphery, his whole body freezes.
An uncomfortable silence hangs in the air for a few heartbeats.
Your tongue feels abnormally clumsy as you rush to apologize. “Levi, I’m so sorry, I was careless and didn’t wait before opening the door and I can just go, I’ve been intruding so often—”
“Oi.”
You peek up from under your lashes at him. He’s glaring at his hands.
“Don’t you dare disappear on me. I can’t—I knew you were coming, but I lost track of time. Can’t get off with these shitty injuries.”
“Oh.” That hadn’t occurred to you. Though you’re plenty open with each other, the two of you don’t talk about sex or romance; he doesn’t seem like the type to be interested in anyone, so you’ve always avoided the topic in fear of heartbreak.
You mean to tease him to restore your usual dynamic as friends, but what comes out of your mouth instead is mortifying. “Would you want any help with that?”
What the absolute fuck was that?
He gapes at you. “Are you fucking with me?”
“No,” you grimace. You definitely don’t want to make your feelings known, but he’s in an incredibly vulnerable position, and you prioritize his feelings over your own pride, so: “I’m being serious. I like you a lot.”
Levi’s quiet for a moment, then smiles faintly. “Come here, then.”
Giddy disbelief bubbles up in you, and you can’t dispel the huge grin on your face as you hop onto the bed. Maintaining eye contact, you slowly reach up to cradle his jaw and lean in. Your eyes flutter shut, and your lips meet so gently it makes your heart ache.
“Does this mean you like me too?” you murmur.
Levi nods solemnly.
In response, you kiss him again. You tentatively run the tip of your tongue against his bottom lip, and he releases a quiet, breathy moan. It emboldens you to lick in further, past his soft lips to touch his tongue. The two of you sigh simultaneously, and you shift closer to him. His body heat is delicious, as is his mouth. You can’t get enough. Desperation smolders in your chest, and Levi must feel similarly, because he caresses your hip, then grasps it to pull you closer. Your hand lands on his chest to balance yourself, so you can feel his heart slam against his ribcage. It fills you with a gooey warmth, and you smile against his lips.
At the feeling of your smile, Levi whines and thrusts his hips up minutely. You rest your weight against Levi, sliding your hand down his perfect chest and flat stomach before hovering your fingers over his cock.
Levi tilts his head back and pants, eyes heavy-lidded. “Touch me,” he pleads.
You shove down the covers and look down both your bodies to watch your fingers gently wrap around his shaft. He gasps and arches up.
You squeeze, and he groans. You drag a finger through his slit, gathering up pre-come, and watch him as you slip your finger into your mouth to taste. Levi makes a small noise at the back of his throat and impatiently tugs at your wrist.
Obligingly, you lick your palm and move your hand back down. You spread the pre-come that’s been steadily leaking from his slit to lubricate a firm stroke from base to tip, and he moans lowly at the contact. You begin to pick up your pace, relishing the silky feel of him. An unbearable heat is gathering in your core as you pant into each other’s mouths.
It feels like only a minute has passed when he tenses up and pushes you back.
“Wait,” he says, voice strained. “I’m already close.”
You press your thighs together. “God, that's hot,” you breathe. “Can I…?” You move down the bed. From here you notice Levi’s chest rise and fall more rapidly. His pupils are blown as you hold his cock to your lips, the steel blue of his irises barely visible.
“God, yes.”
You circle your fingers around the base of his cock and lave at the head, admiring how it glistens in the dim light coming from the window.
“Fuck,” Levi moans.
You take him into your mouth until he touches your throat, bob your head once, twice, and—
“Shit! Wait!”
You look up at him and suck, not slowing down.
“Oi!” Levi tugs at your hair desperately. “I’m going to—”
Before he can finish his sentence, he releases a guttural groan and curls into himself. His cock pulses against your tongue and bitter warmth spills into your mouth. Levi shakes and gasps as he comes apart, gripping your hair. You watch the pleasure contort those beautiful features before his face smooths out and he falls back onto the bed, breathing heavily.
Once he catches his breath and looks down at you, you swallow. He flops his head back and groans, hiding his red face in his arm. Then, something seems to occur to him, and he sits up to glare at you.
“Don’t make fun of me for how fast that was. It’s been a while.”
“It was hot!” you protest.
“I didn’t think you’d want me to come in your mouth. Disgusting,” he says.
It certainly doesn’t look like he’s disgusted. In fact, he looks rather pleased.
You lie down next to him, replacing the covers, and kiss his cheek. It turns a lovely pink at the affection. Levi turns his back to you and shuffles backward and, following his cue, you turn onto your side as well and wrap an arm around him. You press your face into the junction between his neck and shoulder and inhale. Contentment settles in your bones.
“That actually was kind of embarrassing for you. Also, you couldn’t have used your other hand or something?”
“You think I haven’t tried? Just shut up and cuddle me, asshole.”

Levi x Reader x Hanji Love Triangle Headcanons
Tumblr media
Tags: No Reader Pronouns, Gender Neutral Hanji
𓆃 A dynamic that can only be compared to being caught sneaking food in the kitchen by another person sneaking food in the kitchen. Or perhaps two animals caught in a stalemate, just starting at each other?
𓆃 Hanji has the advantage in terms of initiative. Whether they were interested in you off the bat, their excitable nature will surely have them hanging all over you.
𓆃 Hanji is an easy friend to make. While there are some who avoid their eccentric tendencies or dislike their high-energy persona, any positive interactions will surely cement the foundation for a very strong relationship.
𓆃 Anyone who wants a friendship with Hanji can usually get it! Hell, Hanji isn't afraid of asking for a date outright and would be over the moon being asked out on one.
𓆃 In fact, "Are you free this Friday? Let's go out!" isn't at all out of Hanji's vocabulary.
𓆃 Levi, on the other hand, is less easily won over. A "cat" to Hanji's "dog" energy, Levi typically requires time to take on relationships of any form in his life and is less willing to enthusiastically show outward affection.
𓆃 And while Levi certainly has the guts to use the same direct lines that Hanji would willingly spew, he prefers to ease into things without he pressure of putting labels on things early on.
𓆃 For him, there's no real need to even say the word "date" or "go out" when he can just show up at your door with tea and snacks.
𓆃 As much as he likes to think he differs from Hanji, they share quite a few similarities in that sense. Levi bypasses social norms in his own way, and while he might not be as loud about it as Hanji, he's also not afraid to hide out in your apartment with or without your permission.
𓆃 He'll also take a few books while he's at it.
𓆃 And whether you notice their mutual interest in you or not, no one notices faster than them and they don't know what to do about it.
𓆃 Hanji is actually the emotionally intelligent crux of it all, because while they're interested in you, one other prevalent thing on their mind is how difficult it is for Levi to make meaningful relationships, especially romantic ones.
𓆃 It's not enough to make Hanji disregard you altogether, but it does make them mindful of how they treat you when Levi is around and offers the slightest twinge of guilt as they're lying in bed at night.
𓆃 Levi is a bit emotionally unavailable. He's by far not the worst in the Survey Corps. and does have strong emotional intelligence, but the battle for him is the fear that comes with getting close to people. Especially a relationship as intimate as a romantic relationship.
𓆃 Which is almost a contradiction considering how he seeks out your company. He wants you, but he's not sure about the future.
𓆃 And so they're stuck, both wanting you but not pursuing you for two different reasons— just watching how the other moves.
𓆃 The triangle might end if you make a move, or when one of them finally decides to...
Thank you to all who liked, reblogged, followed, and supported. Your support means so much and is greatly appreciated.

Okay? Okay.
~ levi ackerman x reader ~ tags/cw: angst, blood/gore, levi always checks over your odm gear before missions ~ wc: 760 ~ "I wanna make sure you're safe, okay?"
Levi kneels before you as he tightens the straps of your harness. Deft fingers pass over the leather, slipping below the straps, testing the tension and strength of the new buckles. It isn't as if you are incapable of strapping yourself in; you have done this over a thousand times, but there is a new mechanism within the buckles that only a few people knew how to work correctly, Levi being one of them, and he was not about to risk your life over a new piece of metal.
"Levi, I think I can finish it," you offer as his hands slide toward your hips. "Just show me, and I can do it."
He shakes his head and lifts his gaze to yours. "I want to make sure they're secure." Silver eyes bore into yours, something soft and vulnerable hidden within the cold steel. You run your fingers over his cheek, curling them behind his ear.
Levi leans into your touch, eyes slipping closed for a moment before he kisses your palm. "I wanna make sure you're safe, okay?"
His voice is so soft and small. He sounds so fragile, so human. "Okay?" he tries again, fingers tightening leather again. His cheek is still cradled in your palm, and you don't think he will move it until you answer him.
"Okay, Levi"
Levi watches as the leather snaps. Watches as you are sent hurtling toward a tree, watches as you flail in desperation before accepting defeat against gravity as you brace for impact. Levi hears you scream his name before the sound of cracking bones as you hit the thick trunk. Levi sees the blood, then your body tumbling to the ground, limp and unmoving. He's flying before he can think, your name a cry on his lips as he propels himself towards you. Trees and leaves a blur as his vision hones in on you, the entire being focused on your body, scanning for any signs of life. His feet hit the ground so hard his knees scream in pain, but he pays them no mind as he sprints towards you. There's no movement from your body, no breathing or groans of pain. You're just lying there, still and quiet, as if you were a part of the forest, as if you had always been ageless and living among the foliage but weren't living. Levi finally reaches your body, calling out to you as he turns you over, but you aren't there. There is no life behind your eyes as he calls out to others. No, this wasn't supposed to happen. This was meant to be a simple exercise; you would come back home, have dinner, and then go to bed, and everything would be okay.
"Sweetheart, you're okay; please wake up." Levi reaches out and pulls you into his lap. "Come on, you need to wake up now."
His hand strokes down your face, blood starting to drip from your nose as he pushes your hair back from your face. "Please, love, wake up," Levi whispers, ducking his head. "I can't do this without you, please."
Levi doesn't hear as Hange approaches him, their hand on his shoulder startling him.
"Levi, they're gone," Hange whispers, kneeling beside him. "You need to let us take them, okay."
Levi shakes his head, holding you tighter as Hange tries to loosen Levi's grip. "No, they're okay, and I'm not leaving them. I can't."
"Levi, please. Let go."
"No! Just give me some time, and they'll be okay. We'll be okay, and everything will be normal. Okay?"
"Okay."
Hange nods and pulls back as Levi starts to sob. The forest is silent save for the broken cries of a man who has lost everything.
Levi startles awake. His eyes fly open as his heart pounds against his rib cage. He is in his bed, the sheets warm from the morning sun, fire dwindling to embers across the room. He reaches out, afraid to look, and finds nothing there in fear his dream is reality, but he is met with warm sheets and then the sound of clutter in the kitchenette, and his mind and heart instantly calm. Levi takes a deep breath in, the familiar scent of your perfume fills his senses, and he is calm; he is ready to face you and tell you about his nightmare.
"Sweetheart, I know you don't like hearing about them, but I had the worst dream, and I need to-"
Levi's voice fades as he sees Hange standing in the doorway, holding two cups of tea.
"I'm sorry, Levi."

Levi Ackermann was the short king of your life and single-handedly existed as your worst crush that you had experienced in a decade. Crushes were harmless, but not when they’re cohabitating with you. He never gave you the satisfaction of a proper conversation, let alone provide you with any opportunity to chat about anything more intimate. Your feelings only grew stronger the more he denied you any opportunity to interact with him. You remember him once looking at you in utter horror when you tried to tuck a strand of his hair behind his ear.
Thus, cohabitating with him was literally your worst nightmare.
Being unable to handle this unresolved tension, you had elected to stay a few nights at your brothers while Levi figured out some stuff regarding your shared apartment. Choosing him as a roommate was a big mistake. Not telling your brother the true reason as to why you were not staying at your own apartment was an even bigger one.
You had not been informed about Levi spending the night at your brother’s, so you were completely caught off-guard when you found Levi Ackermann in the kitchen, completely shirtless while casually brewing his tea. You had come out in your towel after showering, so you immediately froze in place, begging in your mind that he hadn’t seen you yet.
“I want that report done and sent to the client today,” he said in an irritated tone into his phone. “If there is another fuck-up, consider yourself fired.”
Even while riled up, he was calm and cold. That—added onto his rough, morning voice—made you feel like you had literally walked into heaven.
“Shit,” Levi suddenly said, glancing over towards you, finally noticing your presence. “Sorry, I didn’t see you there.”
He found himself startled by your statuary presence and ogling eyes. You did not know who was more shocked—you seeing him shirtless or him seeing you in a towel standing in front of him. Your mind immediately started crawling into places that you couldn’t admit to without sacrificing your dignity.
“_____?” Levi called out your name, concerned with your lack of a response.
You were completely zoned out. You had not expected to see him shirtless around the house.
Levi Ackermann was a modest man, so much so that he rarely used his words, usually simply humming, nodding, or gesturing. You simply stood there, taking in the masterpiece that was standing before you. You stared blankly at his veiny arms—which were always shown off when he rolled up his sleeves—his unbelievably small torso supporting his beautiful, broad back, and his chest that looked like it was crafted perfectly from stonework. You had previously imagined what was underneath his clothing, but this was beyond what you had expected. As your eyes traveled further down, you were ripped out of your fantasizing when you heard him sharply call out your name.
He snapped you out of your thoughts as he grabbed his shirt and put it on, weaving the buttons of the soft fabric into the slots on the other side of the shirt to button it up, woefully interrupting the pleasant sight that essentially had you drooling. You were tempted to ask him to button it up a bit slower to let your fantasizing continue.
“Do you want some tea?” he asked.
It took you a second to respond.
“Y-Yes,” you said, slightly stuttering due to your amped up nerves. You felt your hands get cold and clammy from anxiety and frustrated thoughts ran through your head over why you were even feeling anxious. You’ve played it cool for months, but all of that composure and masking was nowhere to be found.
Your entire body felt cold, as if your blood stopped flowing. It wasn’t until you began walking and felt yourself holding the towel wrapped around you that you noticed that your shivering had nothing to do with anxiety or nervousness. You were dripping in water from head to toe, having just come out of the shower.
It was even worse when you remembered that you were completely wrapped in a towel with no clothes on underneath.
He placed the cup towards your end of the table, his indifferent eyes traveling up to yours. He didn’t seem to mind the fact that you were standing half-naked in front of him. He hummed and sat by the table, reading the newspaper and sipping at that bitter tea.
You couldn’t help but feel a little disappointed at his lack of a reaction. You had seen him and immediately began fantasizing, but it seemed like he couldn’t be bothered to care. Whether you were clothed or not had no effect on him.
Defeated, you lifted the mug and marched back towards your room.
“I’m going to get changed,” you mumbled as you shot a forced, half-hearted smile at him. “And I guess good morning to you too, Levi.”
~~~~~
When you finally came back out after lazily throwing on a loose t-shirt and shorts, you noticed that Levi was no longer in the kitchen and that the shower was running. You pulled at your shirt, having thrown it on without completely drying yourself. Your hair was still slightly wet since you completely forgot to dry it after that unexpected run-in with Levi.
By the time he came back out, you were already in the kitchen, having started the stove so that you could make yourself some scrambled eggs for breakfast. You opened the drawer to find a whisk to beat up the eggs and frowned upon seeing none. The dishes had been piling up from the past two days in the sink, untouched, and you were finally running out of utensils to use.
As if reading your mind, you heard him sigh as he turned on the faucet. You shot him a glare as he started doing the dishes. You had run to your brother’s to avoid being in the same space as him, but even that wasn’t enough to get rid of him. You had hoped he would shower and then leave, doing whatever it is that he needed to do, but that clearly was not his intention.
Your facial features softened and you watched as his short, wet hair stuck to his forehead with tiny trinkets of water falling off him into the sink, with his face completely relaxed. He stood so close to you that you could smell him. It was a mix of earthy scents, like wood, bourbon, and aftershave. Your gaze traveled to his beautiful arms, with his rolled-up sleeves revealing the protruded veins as he lathered the dish soap over the plates.
You silently wished to yourself that you were one of those plates that were being held and caressed by him.
You never thought there would come the day in which you were envious of a plate.
“Your eggs are burning,” Levi said in a low tone.
You hummed senselessly.
Seeing that you weren’t moving, Levi clicked his tongue and quickly jerked you to the side, hovering over your side as he turned the stove off.
“Tch, where is your attention at, _____?” he asked you as he frowned, looking straight into your eyes.
“I-I…” you began stuttering nervously, looking away, unable to ignore the feeling of his hand on your waist, which was still damp due to him doing the dishes. Your cheeks began to heat up due to close proximity. You couldn’t take your mind off of his hand that felt like it was stuck to your waist. You felt yourself wanting to push yourself closer against him, as your unspoken affection for each other gradually transitioned into unresolved sexual tension.
“Just be careful.”
It took you a little bit to remember that he was talking about the eggs.
You felt your heart pound harder and harder as he finally moved to step away to resume lathering the dishes that you continued to wish was your body, instead.
Fuck it.
With that thought, you grabbed at his arm, turning him around, before crashing his lips against yours. You couldn’t help but feel the sweetness of the kiss. Your hands made your way around the collar of his shirt, pulling him towards you while you pushed yourself against him. Your body weight started shifting over him as he held your waist.
When you finally pulled away, you felt your blood run cold as you realized that he hadn’t moved a muscle. He didn’t move away from you but he didn’t move towards you either. You began to immediately pull away as you realized that you had overstepped, and acted based on unreciprocated feelings.
However, before you could fully detach from him, he placed one of his hands on the small of your back as he connected his lips with yours again. You quickly returned the kiss as it gradually deepened and you felt yourself actively pressing yourself up against him, trying to touch every inch of him.
Losing himself in your embrace, he caressed you by the hem of your t-shirt. His thumbs stroked your pelvic bone, with your clothing lifting from the friction. His fingers barely brushed at your skin, making you shiver in anticipation for him to embrace you further.
A low moan escaped your lips as you parted. Heavy breaths had filled the space between you. Everything else had come to a still, with only quiet breathing and the faint beating of your hearts surrounding you.
He placed his forehead against yours as he shut his eyes to take in this moment. You had both come out of the shower relatively recently, so he couldn’t tell if his elevated body heat was due to the residual heat from the shower or if it was because you were pressed up against him.
Before long, you had pulled him back into a deep kiss, pushing against him with such force that he had to use his other hand to hold himself up against the counter. You continued twisting against him until he was fully backed up against the counter as your hands traveled from the collar of his shirt and down his torso, with your touch pausing as your hands grazed over his chest down to his abs, with your fingers grabbing at the bottom of his shirt as your hands approached his hips.
His grip on you grew tighter and you felt yourself continue to heat up as he placed his hands on your back, following your movements, having his hands travel down your back before slightly pushing his hips forward towards you.
He removed his lips from yours as he began planting deep and rough kisses down your neck, causing unstable, quiet moans to escape from your lips and unsteady breathing from his in between the kisses. All of the pent up energy that the both of you had harbored for weeks currently translated into the ways your bodies were moving against each other.
Needless to say, those burnt eggs were never attended to, with your attention focused on only the sight, smell, and touch of Levi Ackermann up against you.
You oftentimes imagine what he would be like in the real world. When he isn’t barricading himself in his room, eyes glued to a computer screen doing his studies or blank wall, thoughts he only whispers to himself. What would he look like at a table with friends, chatting and laughing and joking? Does he smile at people when they walk down he street? What does he wear when he goes out with friends? Are you his friend?
Does he think of you?
A tap at your temple and you turn your head. His eyes pool into your very soul, emotion hidden at such depths and yet you can see it bubbling at the surface. The smallest twinkle in the corner of his eye.
“Go to sleep.”
“I’m just thinking.”
Your voice could not be more opposite of one another. Sunrises with dewy grass and a swirling, dark storm in the afternoon after work that make you look out of your car window with worry.
“You think too much.”
And you smile at that, laugh even, as you pull the covers closer to your neck to shield the inevitable heat that sparks beneath your skin as he stares at you like that. He lifts a hand and covers your face with a pillow, turning his head when you giggle.
As your laugher dies down, you wonder what he looks like at the grocery store with his mother, carrying a basket or pushing a cart down the isles as he plucks condiments or intently listens to her as she rambles on and on about what dish she’ll make for dinner.
His back is turned to you- he never sleeps when he comes over, only drifting for an hour or two before he wakes up at the crack of dawn to leave. The ache never dulls for you as he caresses your face, the only allowance of affection he grants you, urging you to go back to sleep.
“Rest all day.” He tells you, leering down at you with an indistinguishable glint in his eyes. You’re pouting, he leans down to give you a kiss on the forehead before he pulls away to put on his hoodie and lace up his shoes.
You trail after him, wearing a large thrifted shirt and sleep lathering your under eyes.
“See ya.”
“Text me when you’re home and have a good rest.” His arms wrap around yours, pulling the puttied version of you into his arms. Your unkept, slept in hair tickles his chin and he angles himself down to press a kiss to the crown of your head.
He lets you go, and you shut the door behind him, trailing back to bed and adoringly gazing at the ruffled sheets on his (and your cat’s) side of the bed. There’s a deep ache in your gut, and yet you feel lighter than ever.
As you curl into bed, you pull out your phone and send him a text. Part of you feels needy, embarrassed, a school girl, but you don’t stop yourself.
Sweet dreams! Drive safe ⸜(。˃ ᵕ ˂ )⸝♡
There’s no text back until later in the middle of the day. He thumbs down your message. A simple picture of him curled up in his bed, eyes closed with a silly grin on his face. Your heart pitter pats, and yet the back of your mind reminds you that this is supposed to be nothing. To quell that feeling, to stomp on it and squish it before you fall too deep and get yourself hurt.
But you find yourself texting him with your bottom lip drawn between your teeth, still store from where he sucked and nipped and played.
Will you come over next weekend?
We'll see.
what kinda nicknames/pet names do u think the aot men would give their girls 🤭
eeek!! so I’ve been waiting on this question 🥹 so in all my fics, I have a nickname for (y/n) from all of them.
eren • he calls (y/n) princess, it’s his favorite. Mainly because he loves treating you like one. Spoiling you rotten and giving you the world. His second one is mama, especially when he’s all sleepy and laying up under you, he loves mumbling it in your ear.
armin • his is sweetheart. Honestly, it depends on the mood he’s in. It could be condescending or really sweet. But either way, you get butterflies every time he says it. Also..angel. He loves to say it when kissing your forehead and telling you how much he loves/how proud of you he is. (side note: baker armin will 1000% call you cupcake)
jean • my love. It’s simple but so sweet when he says it. He’ll hold your hand and kiss your temple, mumbling it in your ear. Has that as your contact name with a ring beside it because he truly adores you! Or my baby love..especially in his whiny little tone.
connie • he calls you ma or lil mama, hands down! (I always hear him with an accent) you can’t help but to get all flustered when he says it because he’ll do it so smoothly and sweetly.
reiner • sugar and darling are his favorites! especially with that thick country accent, it sounds so cute. Also throwing in poundcake (for personal reasons teehee).
erwin • dear or honey. Even with some variations (honeybun, honeybear, etc.) Always his go to’s and honestly, calling you by your name doesn’t even feel right to him. He’d have to extremely upset to do so but he’s so in love with you, that rarely happens.
levi • brat. but it’s affectionate so it’s all good! He doesn’t do well with pet names and being all cutesy but he’s trying his best.
Who is most likely to give their S/O petnames, and what?
Connie, hands-down, makes the most use of it. He'll drop "babe" left, right and center. "Babe, pass me that bag," "aw, babe, you're so cute", "hey, what does Jean mean, babe?" He's over the top with it and says it within earshot of everyone. Rarely ever uses your name honestly.
Historia drops it accidentally and without much thought. She fluctuates a lot between what she uses but "sweetie" and "honey" often take the cake. "Can you grab that for me, sweetie?" "Honey, no!"
Mikasa rarely, rarely does in casual conversation. But she'll occasionally quip with "you're my love, of course I'm going to protect you". She's all about more ''abstract'' sentiments like "my world".
Jean, like Historia, also often goes with "sweetie". Though he alternates often with "babe" and other sentiments. He usually says it in private conversation but does often replace your name with "my boyfriend/girlfriend/partner" in conversation with other people. Also is prone to calling you "my pretty/handsome girl/boyfriend" or "baby girl/baby boy" to your face.
Zeke really doesn't do petnames. Though occasionally he drops it in conversation with other people. "(Name), my partner, ...."
Pieck is all about petnames! She alternates alot between what she uses. She'll use anything and everything, even ''toast''.
Porco also uses petnames somewhat. Unlike Connie's flamboyant use of "babe", he drops it more casually. Might call you "baby girl/baby boy" if you ask him or respond well to it.
Hange is also pretty 'up there' with the "babe" term. Though they fluctuate a bit with "light of my life", "sweetness", "gorgeous / handsome", especially if they want something or are up to something mischevious.
Ymir often goes with "sweetheart" and "princess". Usually it's done in a teasing manner to get a rise out of you but she can mean it sentimentally too.
Levi calls you "brat".
Erwin actually refers to you as "my girl/my boy"! He often says it when he's endeared, comforting you, or in private.
Sasha often chooses random nicknames! ...Like "hot potato" or "cinnamon roll". Though she does go for sentimental ones, especially when she's wanting something or feeling especially affectionate, like "sweetheart, baby", etc.
Armin probably accidentally dropped "sweetheart" once and then hastily corrected himself, redfaced. Keeps accidentally dropping it and gets so flustered over it, no matter how long you two have been together.
Reiner actually probably cycles through a bunch until you find one that you both like. Uses it fairly regularly and is downright flattered if you do the same.
Annie's is definitely more abstract and circumstantial. If you earned her ire before or did something "over the top" like always hugging her, she probably calls you "koala".
