Symphomia: Where is he now?

Lucero Symphomia, a former child star who took a sudden leave 4 years ago, is rumored to have reappeared in the famous magician’s school of NRC!

The now 19-year-old shook the opera world when he left his small town of Monolith Village to perform at one of Twisted Wonderland’s largest opera houses at just 12. His performance, which was just his debut, granted him multiple awards and a large fan base of hopeful fans. His existence proved to them that childhood fantasies can easily become reality.

Like a phantom, however, he disappeared as quickly as he arrived. During a country-wide tour, the young countertenor failed to arrive at a meet-and-greet (much to the disappointment of his fans). Almost without notice, his performances were cancelled, and his family announced an emergency that called the star back home. Rumors on popular chat sites spoke of the young man being attacked by a sudden stranger on his way to the event. Even a supposed nurse on one of the sites says to have been at the hospital Symphomia was at. Skeptic users, however, dismissed them. That was the last time the world had ever seen the actor’s face.

That is, until now.

In a photo provided to us from an anonymous source, the image depicts what appears to be an older Lucero in the NRC’s uniform. Looking closer, his face also is hidden by a mask.

So are the rumors of an attack on the star true? Look at the image and determine for yourself…

N - Name three things you wish you saw more or in your main fandom (or a fandom of choice).

Bellow mostly applies to Touhou Project:

More character analysis based on how they appear in the games. It doesn't happen often but I think talk centered round how Touhou characters express themselves through spell cards can add a lot of depth that doesn't come through in fanworks.

More fanworks that draw from their historical inspiration (this limits to a small cast of characters but I feel like Historical Touhou is very rare...I also understand why this doesn't happen much mostly due to high barrier of entry and in general requiring more work.)

Also a huge fan and will always welcome Touhou designs that pull from the artist's nationality. It's a fun twist and I'm always impressed when they incorporate design elements from the original outfit into the clothes.

A - Ships that you currently like a lot. (They don’t have to be OTPs because not everyone has OTPs.) Friendships, pairings, threesomes, etc. are allowed.

Sakuro and Cleru during my Summon Knight: Swordcraft Story playthrough made me laugh a lot. Sakuro is a very, very silly Craftlord. They have a very similar dynamic to Steven and Brendan's relationship from Pokemon Ruby/Sapphire/Emerald (though I feel like Emerlad is probably the better fit to their dynamic).

O - Choose a song at random. Which ship or character does it remind you of?

Alright, I had to have Youtube randomly shuffle my Summer Recap but it pulled up Fifty Fifty's Cupid and it just reminds me of Devil Survivor as a whole for the sole reason I read all eight volumes while listening to this song on loop at 1.25x speed. It's really funny of all the songs I put on loop throughout the summer, it happened to pick one I actually have some association with a fandom....

L - Say something genuinely nice about a character who isn’t one of your faves. (Characters you’re neutral about are fair game, as are characters you merely dislike. Characters that you absolutely loathe with the fire of ten thousand suns are exempt, as there is no point in giving yourself an aneurysm over a character that you hate.)

Major spoilers for Swordcraft Story: I really like Ureksa a lot as a character, he's portrayed in a pretty sympathetic manner and I think how he patches things up with Cleru/Pratty is really refreshing. While I don't love the suicide bait and switch, it really does feel clear to me even if he made some pretty bad decisions, I do think he's a kind person at heart. He's a very prickly person, but I think it makes sense from his design (a lot of spear specialists tend to not be very direct, which makes sense for their fighting style, the game specifically sets up spear users to fight at a range).

Now that I think about it, Matsuoka Rin (Free!), is also someone I warmed to eventually because I liked seeing him be a mentor to Aiichirou and Momotaro. I think that's part of his character design though...

As an aside, it is possible to send me this prompt multiple times since there's very few characters I actively hate and I always have something tucked away in the back of my mind. Most of the time is me wanting to comment their role in the story, but I think that can be read as me recognizing their purpose....

I - Has Tumblr caused you to stop liking any fandoms, if so, which and why?

Not tumblr, but on Twitter, I do think it's really easy to lose interest in fandom because it's very easy to fall into negative spirals. There is a general shift in fandom overall that made me feel the need to keep my interests separate with side blogs and I tend to be more active through a very closed off account on Twitter.

Maybe one day I'll be courageous and blog about my interests from my one main blog, but that's still an option off the table for now.

C - A ship you have never liked and probably never will.

Toyosatomimi no Miko/Soga no Tojiko the popular fandom portrayal just gets on my nerves and I find it really annoying when sometimes posts still appear because the ship name is not mentioned anywhere in the tweet. I do have a specific portrayal but I'm hesitant to say if's romantic, but i do think their dynamic is interesting, I just can't bring myself to think of it as romantic.

This might be more closer to me complaining I wish I had post block on Twitter/Tumblr Mobile.

E - Have you added anything cracky/hilarious to your fandom? If so, what?

I think a long time ago I made a joke about how the fanon portrayal of Shinichi drinking coffee is a subtle way for him to drive away people bugging him. (Caffiene is a natural insecticide, hence the word play). Truth be told I'm not 100% sure now if that was the inspiration for this post I made...

I think maybe you can still find it in the KaiShin discord, but I felt like there's a lot of innuendo to be had knowing Toichi and Yuusaku having a back and forth with just a question mark and exclamation point. (The symbol that combines both the question mark and exclamation point is called an interrobang and it looks like this: ‽)

I don't think either of them spawned too much in the fandom, but I realize my sort of humor needs like a short essay just to explain the context and this is probably why I don't really share my more cracky/insane interpretations....

Q - A fandom you’ve abandoned and why.

I think the only true fandom I've completely abandoned is Harry Potter? Aside from the obvious reasons, I've learned I still do really love the concept of magic, but I would rather have it manifest itself in different ways. I love fantasy and magic, but I think I end up preferring it to be a back drop or the setting rather than the primary focus. I guess it's more closer to, I like it more as an aesthetic, but dislike it when it becomes the center focus.

Even more controversial fandoms I never can quite fully bring myself to fully abandon (the one that mainly comes to mind is Hetalia). A lot of other fandoms that are less contentious I tend to just cast aside for a while but after a few years I end up picking it back up again for one reason or another.

T - Do you have any hard and fast headcanons that you will die defending? 

Listen, I know it's basically confirmed now that Futo killed Tojiko as of Strange Creators of Outer World, I still refuse to believe Futo actually did it. The closest thing I'll compromise on is Futo's definition of killing Tojiko is "she was not present to stop the murder." That's about it.

I'm basically a Futo apologist and I'm sorry you had to find out this way.

Welcome Pack for Futo PI viewers.

Welcome. If you're enjoying Futo PI, you may have learnt about the fact this is a sequel to a 2009-2010 tokusatsu series entitled Kamen Rider W, specifically an adaptation of a manga that started serialisation in 2017, written by that show's head writer Sanjo Riku. I won't tell you you have to go back and watch W, which was the latest in a still ongoing series of toy commercials, and was primarily intended for kids, while Futo PI was always aimed at an older audience and to draw in non-toku fans. I will say anime watchers at least get told this is also a superhero show from the beginning, unlike the manga, as that first scene was an adaptation of the very first scene of W.

As I said, you are under no obligation to watch W to follow Futo PI, but if you're curious about seeing where the main characters have come from, please read on and I'll tell you where to look.

At a basic premise, Kamen Rider W and Futo PI have the same conceit of the 2-in-1 detective, Shotaro and Phillip, defending Futo from the users of the Memories as Kamen Rider W. The big threat is different of course, but the general premise is the same.

While you will see the main cast (and Akiko's father) resemble their live action counterparts quite closely, other characters are more varied. Detectives Jinno and Makura, Santa-chan and Watcherman are all recognisable easily, while Queen and Elizabeth, and Lily look less like their TV selves, I'm guessing due to image rights. Tokime and Bando are original to the manga, so never had actors.

Also, before I go into an explanation of what to watch to get the complete W experience, I will note that the OP, "Private Eye", is by Big Gadgets and features Kamiki Aya and TAKUYA, who were responsible for the W OP, "W-B-X ~W-Boiled Extreme~", while the ED "Tsumi to Bachi to ANGURA" is by Matsuoka Mitsuru and Kikkawa Koji, who each starred in 2 W movies and provided music, Kikkawa performed "Nobody's Perfect", the theme for his character, Narumi Sokichi, as well as being half the duo performing "HEARTBREAKER", while Matsuoka performed "W", for the movie, and then "cod-E -E no Ango-" which could be seen as the theme for his own character, Daido Katsumi. Flashbacks have featured both characters in the manga as I understand, but I don't know if in either case that's in the material getting adapted to anime, since each arc is probably going to be 2 or 3 episodes.

Kamen Rider W Watch List

This should be only the most important parts.

Kamen Rider W Episode 1-14. After the Begins Night intro, these episodes introduce to Futo, W and the Gaia Memories, through the eyes of Akiko as she comes to Futo seeking her father.

Kamen Rider W Begins Night. The W portion of Movie Taisen 2010, where the Begins Night comes back to haunt Shotaro, adding further context to it for the audience, and resolving a plot hook that's been hanging between Shotaro and Akiko since the series started. You can skip the crossover portion, but there are some scenes at the very end I would watch.

Kame Rider W Episode 15-34. The new year brings sweeping changes to Futo, with the last member of the main cast joining soon after.

Kamen Rider W Hyper Battle DVD. You can skip this, it's a humourous DVD they do every year, sometimes with new forms, this one is mostly notable for featuring a character that got a surprising amount of use post-W.

Kamen Rider W Episode 35-44. The series moves into the last act, with a last shift to the status quo, as the 10 year plan of the villains approaches fruition.

Kamen Rider W Forever: A to Z/The Gaia Memories of Fate. W's summer movie, following directly on from the end of episode 44, and focuses on revelations on that episode and how they affect Phillip. The release was accompanied by humourous net movies, as well as a prose prequel: The Beginning of N/Blood and Dreams, which may have been contradicted by later releases.

Kamen Rider W Episode 45-49. The last act and epilogue to W.

Kamen Rider Skull: Message for W. W's portion of Movie Taisen CORE, it provides an origin for the titular character. As before, you can skip the crossover portion, but there are some scenes at the end to still watch.

Kamen Rider W Returns: Kamen Rider Accel. A direct to DVD film focusing on the titular character after the events of the series.

Kamen Rider W Returns: Kamen Rider Eternal. A prequel to the summer movie providing backstory for the titular character.

Novel Kamen Rider W: The One Who Continues After Z. (I don't believe this has been translated yet although I would imagine it is on some group's to-d list). While set during the series, I would advise leaving it until finishing the series.

Futo PI. The manga has had over 100 chapters and is at least 12 volumes so far, the anime is expected to be 12 episodes for now, and will cover maybe half of that.

Aside from these W focused excursions, members of the cast have returned in other series, though those are always more focused on the parent series.

Shotaro and Phillip made a guest appearance in 2012's Movie Taisen MEGAMAX.

Terui and Akiko sort-of cameod in 2013's Sengoku Movie Daikessen.

Shotaro was one of several prominent returning characters in 2014's Kamen Rider Taisen

Terui returned for a significant appearance in 2016's Drive Saga: Kamen Rider Chaser, also written by Sanjo. Notably this revealed a major development after Futo PI's events, which didn't come out for another year and a half.

Terui returned, along with several other past riders, for a guest appearance in NEXT TIME: Kamen Rider Geiz in 2020.

Terui was one of several past characters to enjoy a major role in 2022's Kamen Rider Revice: The Mystery, being the lead in the B-plot alongside a Revice character.

Akiko also returned in 2022, alongside several other female characters, for Jeanne & Aguilera with Girls Remix.

He eventually met up with Aaliyah Jones, Summer Chan, Mannish Baby, and Gwen Royce as fellow students. They eventually joined the drama club together and took on Summer-Chan's father and eventually defeated him (Mannish Baby would give his life during the struggle). And later down the line graduated from college and formed their own acting troupe. > I wanted to give him catalyst but at the same time he kinda fits with a bow. And putting him in Mondstadt seems so right. It's freedom in that nation, you can find him swimming at the Cider Lake.

- Makoto Tachibana - Vision: Geo Weapon: Claymore Affiliation: Mondstadt, Dawn Winery

> My man Makoto already screams like a Geo character. Tall, handsome, muscular? Claymore. Making him work with Diluc at Dawn Winery also sounds nice. Who wants a barista/waiter Makoto?

- Nagisa Hazuki - Vision: Anemo Weapon: Polearm Affiliation: Mondstadt

> This boy here, is so carefree and fun to be around. Imagining him with Anemo sounds very right. We can see him running around with kids, maybe fooling around with Venti. He might even do tricks with his polearm to entertain the people.

- Rei Ryugazaki - Vision: Electro/Hydro Weapon: Sword Affiliation: Knights of Favonius, Mondstadt

> Tbh, idk if Rei would be blessed with Electro or Hydro. But a part of my thinks that he might be an Electro user. Rei is definitely part of the Alchemist faction of the KoF as one of Albedo's assistants. He likes beauty, thus I can definitely see him fight with a sword passionately.

- Shizuru Isurugi - Vision: Hydro Weapon: Claymore Affiliation: Liyue

> He talks about fish and compare things with seafood. I see him coming from Liyue and probably be the son of one of the greatest fishermen there.

- Romio Hayahune - Vision: Cryo Weapon: Bow Affiliation: Liyue

> I don't really know much nor take notice of him, but my impression of him is that he might be blessed with Cryo vision. He did mention Tokyo is his second home, thus why I think he fits by coming from Liyue, a nation of contracts and business.

- Gou Matsuoka - Vision: Cryo Weapon: Catalyst/Sword Affiliation: Inazuma (former), Mondstadt

> The Matsuoka family moves around a lot during Gou's and Rin's childhood. And she definitely has Cryo vision to mess around with the Iwatobi guys. Like freezing the lake to avoid Haru from swimming during the winter, creating ice paths to let kids play on the ice and other things.

- Ayumu Kunikida - Vision: Geo Weapon: Catalyst Affiliation: Mondstadt

> She looks like Geo Sucrose. She'll be with Timaeus instead of the KoF. She'll throw rocks at the baddies from a far, unintentionally playing pranks on the hilichurls. She'll be Sucrose's best friend too. They'd create the weirdest and questionable things ever.

~ SAMEZUKA GANG ~

- Rin Matsuoka - Vision: Pyro Weapon: Claymore Affiliation: Inazuma // Fontaine

> He has pyro vision 100%! Passionate with his dreams to the point he might accidentally burn something. Probably evaporate the water at times. Gou will be the one who would help him maintain the water level. She'd freeze liquid while he melts them.

- Sousuke Yamazaki - Vision: Geo Weapon: Claymore Affiliation: Inazuma // Liyue

> Rock hard muscle man carries a claymore like his buddy. Geo vision user indeed. He can also be a healer and DPS like Noelle! He'd be Rin's best partner in the team aside from Haru and Gou. Since Rin and Sousuke were from Inazuma, I can see them returning and being part of the resistance with Sangonomiya. They'd fight for freedom together (and making sure that Rin doesn't explode like a volcano)

- Aiichirou Nitori - Vision: Dendro Weapon: Sword Affiliation: Sangonomiya Troupe, Inazuma

> Idk why, but Nitori looks like he would have Dendro vision. I see him as a person who likes nature and would be more of a healer and support. He'd be with the medical team of the resistance. And making sure Momo behaves.

- Momotarou Mikoshiba - Vision: Electro Weapon: Polearm Affiliation: Sangonomiya Troupe, Inazuma

> Boy is so explosive he may have had created Overload with his brother or Rin. He's exciting but also has limits. At least he listens to the general and the higher ups, making him one of the best fighter in the resistance.

~ HIDAKA U ~

- Seijuurou Mikoshiba ~ Vision: Pyro Weapon: Claymore Affiliation: Sangonomiya Troupe, Inazuma

> Mikoshiba Chaos number 1. Do I need to say more? Chaos with his siblings? Why not. Not only that, he's one of the best captains in the resistance, leading his team with full victory, training them to be the best of the best. He received recognition from both Gorou and Kokomi. Was probably one of the Tenryou Commission officers but betrayed them once the Vision Hunt Decree happened.

- Asahi Shiina - Vision: Pyro Weapon: Polearm Affiliation: Liyue

> Probably the son of one of the commissioners in Liyue. And most likely one of the best adventurers of Liyue. Also a promoted officer of the Millelith. Like Seijuurou, he's a good leader. He may be reckless, but his chaotic and lively attitude brings positivity in the team work.

- Kisumi Shigino - Vision: Anemo Weapon: Sword Affiliation: Fontaine // Liyue

> This guy is so carefree but when it comes to business or leading his adventure team, he's serious. As a reference that his uncle works with a company that's gotta do with housings, his family probably is a part of a commissioner thingy and has contacts with the Liyue Qixing. He's like Tohma in a way, kinda like the middle man or a fixer. We need him to deal with complicated things.

~ SHIMOGAMI U ~

- Tsubasa Hoshikawa - Vision: Electro Weapon: Polearm Affiliation: Doushin, Inazuma

> He's a minor character but he shows good leadership by how he talks to his teammates. I imagine him being one of the generals of the Tenryou Commission

- Ikuya Kirishima - Vision: Cryo Weapon: Bow Affiliation: Tenryou Commission, Inazuma

> I was so close to imagining him using a claymore as a reference of Razor. I headcanon cryo characters to be someone perfectionist in a way, thus why I think Ikuya might be a Cryo vision bearer.

- Hiyori Toono - Vision: Geo Weapon: Sword Affiliation: Kanjou Commission, Inazuma

> Kanjou commission clearly shows how much they wanted to manipulate traveler upon them reaching Inazuma. And that's what and how I view Hiyori as. He's cheeky, good with words. He might be like Tohma, a fixer, at the same time manipulating people with taxes and whatever Kanjou Commission does. He might even block outlanders with his Geo vision.

~ OTHERS ~

- Natsuya Kirishima - Vision: Pyro Weapon: Claymore Affiliation: Tenryou Commission (former), The Crux (current)

> My man Natsuya travels a lot. He's like Kazuha, the wandering ronin. I can definitely see him as Beidou's second in command in the ship. He's also a good leader, a caring and kind individual. His pyro vision provides warmth in the cold nights in the sea. If this guy even dare, he would even dive into the sea to swim.

- Nao Serizawa - Vision: Dendro Weapon: Catalyst/Bow/Sword Affiliation: Bubu Pharmacy, Liyue

> I can see him working as Baizhu's disciple. I don't know why I see him having dendro vision, but he just screams dendro. He's majoring as sports medic of some sorts, thus I see him working with Bubu Pharmacy along with Qiqi. He would expect Natsuya and other characters to visit him to ask for medicines.

- Isuzu Mikoshiba - Vision: Anemo Weapon: Sword Affiliation: Sangonomiya Troupe, Inazuma

> Mikoshiba Chaos number 2. With anemo, she can apply swirl to overload from her brothers' visions. Following Seijuurou's footsteps, she strives to become a good leader and role model. Kokomi would even ask her to be her assistant. Big bro Mikoshiba is proud of little sister Mikoshiba.

- Kaede Kinjou - Vision: Electro [Hydro; Delusion] Weapon: Claymore Affiliation: Fatui, Snehznaya

> idl this guy. I definitely see him with the fatui. His few targets would be Ikuya, Rin, Haruka, Sousuke and Asahi. I can see him fooling around with them with so many ruthless tactics he has under his sleeves. Not to mention how aggressive he can be. Scaramouche weaker version.

- Albert Volandel - Vision: Cryo/Hydro Weapon: Polearm Affiliation: Fontaine

> I view him fighting as gracefully as Rei, maybe even more. But as for his vision, I'm unsure if he would be blessed with cryo or hydro.

Hello, everyone! I am Maeno Tomoaki, the voice actor for Zhongli in Genshin Impact.

★ What are your impressions about Genshin Impact?

When I first saw the game, I thought this would definitely be an interesting one. I’ve downloaded the game, and I play it while on the move. I’ve also downloaded the PS4 version. It’s good because I can enjoy using both controllers and the mobile touch-screen.

I think the game did not pull any punches. I feel its development has progressed so far already. It’s an open world that you can freely explore, and there are so many things to do. Along with continuing the story, there are also so many fun detours you can take. I think it’s a game you can enjoy endlessly.

★ What are you impressions about Zhongli?

He looks smart and is a character with very strong abilities. It’s very fun and I feel happy voicing such a cool man. I heard during recording that they wanted me to voice this character even since his design phase. I’m very thankful.

When Zhongli finally appeared in the game, a lot of users also said “I thought this character is very Maeno-like and it turns out to really be Maeno!”. I see these kinds of comments and I feel very grateful. I’m looking forward to this character’s development.

Zhongli is very knowledgeable. He not only has extensive knowledge, he has a mild-mannered personality. He is a character with a lot of points that you can look up to and follow. I think there will be more chances from here on out to get to know Zhongli more. I think he’s a character you like even more the more you get to know him.

★ Has your impressions on Zhongli changed since voicing him?

At first I thought he was a completely perfect person. But then there’s his skills at paying with mora... it’s very... (laugh). It’s not bad, we see a cutesy side to him. I think that gap is very cute.

When I voiced him, I was directed that in some scenes he's a little different from his image. He’s knowledgeable and possesses great power, but then he also has this little part that’s not-so-perfect. He’s a cute character.

So the more I voice him, I see more of his humanity, and am able to relate to him somehow. As a character he’s very different from me, but our hearts are pretty close. I think he’s a very mysterious character. 

★ Do you have any similarities with Zhongli?

(laughs) I think we have almost no similarities. How do I say it? He’s a very self-disciplined character. But I’m very bad at controlling myself. Sometimes I think I shouldn’t drink on a certain day, but then I still end up drinking somehow. I want to follow Zhongli’s example with his self-discipline. 

I often get told that I’m quite serious, but I also have not-so-serious parts. I think that is quite similar to Zhongli. 

★ Aside from Zhongli, do you have any characters you are interested in?

Other characters? It’s definitely Tartaglia for me. The character that Ryouhei-kun voices. I’ve seen a lot of reactions that say they want to use Tartaglia and also want to use Zhongli. And also these two appear together a lot. They have a connection. Once again, Ryouhei-kun is this interesting and nice character. I hope everyone can love Tartaglia, and also Zhongli, in the game.

Ah, yes, there’s Xiao, an upcoming character who seems to have a deep connection with Zhongli. Since there are a lot of developments coming for Xiao, there might be a lot of chances to voice together with Yoshitsugu to show the relationship between these two characters.

★ If you can travel inside the world of Genshin, what would you like to do?

There are a lot of things I want to do! Using the glider that you receive early on in the story, I want to go around the world. Isn’t it nice? You can jump from a high place and soar. I really want to try that.

Also, in an open world game, I really enjoy cooking. In Genshin, there is a cooking system as well. So I just go around picking up things from the ground like mushroom and fruits, and then cook where I can. I want to do that.

If you have food, you can also recover [your HP] so I really recommend it!

★ Zhongli’s birthday is on December 31st!

It’s almost Zhongli’s birthday. It’s still a little early but...

Happy Birthday, Zhongli! How old are you now? Six thousand... mn? How old? Ah! Well, no matter how old you are, a birthday is still special! So I hope you can give yourself a reward.
