All I'm saying is that as someone whose first console was a Mattel Intellivision, the sorts of control schemes that mobile developers would have us believe are reasonable ways of playing an action game on your phone are starting to feel eerily familiar.

also, if you like my post, please reblog it. Tumblr hates links but i had to put them so you adhd bitches actually download them <3 i know because i am also adhd bitches
BASIC STUFF:
AdGuard AdBlocker / uBlock Origin : adguard is a basic adblock and with origin you can also block any other element you want. for example i got rid of the shop menu on tumblr
Tumblr media
Privacy Badger : this add on will block trackers. if an element contains a tracker it will give you the option to use it or not
Shinigami Eyes: this will highlight transphobic and trans friendly users and sites using different colors by using a moderated database. perfect to avoid terfs on any social media. i will explain how to use this and other add-ons on android as well under the read more cut
THINGS YOU TUMBLINAS WANT:
Xkit: the best tumblr related add on. with many customizable options, xkit not only enhances your experience from a visual standpoint, but provides some much needed accessibility tools
Tumblr media Tumblr media
bonus: if you are into tf2 and wanna be a cool cat, you can also get the old version to add cool reblog icons
Tumblr media
AO3 enhancer: some basic enhancements including reading time and the ability to block authors and tags
YOUTUBE
Return of the YouTube Dislike : pretty self explanatory
Youtube non-stop: gets rid of the annoying "Video paused. Continue watching?" popup when you have a video in the background
SponsorBlock: gives you options to skip either automatically or manually sponsors, videoclip non music sectors and discloses other type of sponsorships/paid partnerships
Enhancer for YouTube: adds some useful options such as custom play speed, let's you play videos in a window and most important of all, it allows you to make the youtube interface as ugly as your heart desires. I can't show a full image of what it looks like because i've been told its eye strainy and i want this post to be accessible but look at this <3
Tumblr media
PocketTube: allows you to organize your subscriptions into groups
YouTube Comment Search: what it says
FINDING STUFF
WayBack Machine: you probably know about this site and definitely should get the add on. this allows you to save pages and access older versions with the click of a button. while you can search wayback using web archives, please get this one as well as it allows you to easily save pages and contribute to the archive.
Web Archives: it allows you to search through multiple archives and search engines including WayBack Machine, Google, Yandex and more.
Search by Image: allows you to reverse image search using multiple search engines (in my experience yandex tends to yield the best results)
Image Search Options: similar to the last one
this next section is pretty niche but... STEAM AND STEAM TRADING
SteamDB: adds some interesting and useful statistics
Augmented Steam: useful info specially for browsing and buying games
TF2 Trade Helper: an absolute godsend, lets you add items in bundles, keeps track of your keys and metal and your recent trades, displays links to the backpack tf page next to users profiles and more. look it tells me how much moneys i have and adds metal to trades without clicking one by one oh may god
Tumblr media
IN CONCLUSION: oooooh you want to change to firefox so badly, you want to delete chrome and all the chrome clones that are actually just spyware and use firefox
HOW TO USE MOZILLA ADD-ONS ON YOUR PHONE
if you already use firefox on android, you'll know there are certain add-ons compatible with the app, some of them even being made just for the mobile version such as Video Background Play FIx. while most of them are pretty useful, some more specific ones aren't available on this version of the browser, but there's a way of getting some of them to work
you need to download the firefox nightly app, which is basically the same as the regular firefox browser but with the ability of activating developer mode. you can find how to do that here. once you've enabled it, you need to create a collection with all the add ons you want. i wouldn't recommend adding extensions if the creators haven't talked about phone compatibility, but XKit and Shinigami Eyes should work
also, don't tell the government this secret skater move, but you can try using both the regular firefox browser and nightly so you can have youtube videos in a floating box while you browse social media.
Tumblr media
see? i can block this terf while Rick Rolling the people following this tutorial. isn't that tubular?

Chop Shop is strictly 18+ for language, themes, and potential explicit content.
🔗 - Game Intro | Bug Report | Ko-Fi
Episode Three is now available! (+ 86,000) - PLAY HERE
Get your first taste of the underground car scene.
Meet some other players in the game.
Be made an offer.
5 achievements up for grabs!
And more!
AN: thank you so much for the patience - i've been dying to put this update out. lots of new characters and lots of variation!! there are 3 major paths to choose between in this ep, i recommend trying them all out! and thank you to my betas for keeping me sane lmao
This update comes with a patch and UI refresh (Version 1.1.2) Notes are under the cut. If preferred, you can access them in game in the start menu.
STORY
EPISODE 01:
MC should now be able to smoke! Buying cigarettes at the shop was not triggering correctly. If playing with an old save, you DO NOT have to restart as code at the beginning of EP 03 has resolved the error. Player will need to restart if they wish to read smoking related scenes in previous episodes.
Updated MC Name selection. Player can now choose from a list of names instead of having to input one to proceed.
Player can now give Taha their chocolate bar if it's in their inventory.
When asking Maz about their scars, the second choice 'You want to ask about it but you're going to keep your mouth shut.' should now take you to the correct response.
Extended and updated 'End Game' scenes.
EPISODE 02:
If MC is faint after exiting the car, but also drunk, they should now get the fainting scene, followed by Dilani helping the MC in the bathroom.
UI + TECHNICAL
SETTINGS:
Autoname Save is now defaulted to ON. This is to add ease and flow to gameplay, especially for mobile, tablet, and app users, instead of calling for an inputted saved name. If player wants to input save names, toggle Autoname Saves to OFF.
Autoname Save previously only used the forename of the MC but now includes the surname as well.
Removed the Fullscreen toggle as it is only intended for desktop use. Player can still toggle fullscreen function via the UI bar on the desktop interface.
Added a choice indicator toggle. (This probably won't come into effect until EP 04 or 05)
Changed serif font from Vollkron to EB Garamond.
OTHER:
Changing the MC's pronouns via the Dashboard has been updated. Additionally, after confirmation will take player back to the Dashboard and not close the dialog boxes entirely.
Hovering over 'Personality', 'Motives', and 'Skills' titles in the Dashboard will now display an information box with a definition. Mobile and tablet users will need to tap on the title.
'Resume Game' now only appears on the main menu when there is an autosave in the saves log.
Choices styling changes.
General UI and button style changes.
Fixed errors with the text message styling.
Added styling for reading text off of a page in game.
Darkened blue in light theme 'Skyline' to reduce eye strain.
CREATE A SAVE
Introducing Create a Save! This feature allows players to quickly manufacture a save file and start at a later point in the game.
Set your identity, appearance, history, and statistics; including personality, motives, and skills. Continue to set key decisions made in previous episodes.
Randomise options available for creating a PC and key decisions.
OTHER
Fixed gaps and spacing issues.
Minor phrasing and sentence structure changes.
Grammar and typo fixes.
whew -- that's a lot of patch notes! apologies for so much that needed to be fixed.
this update shouldn't break/ mess with saves but as a disclaimer i will say, if you spot anything funky, broken, or you don't think things are triggering correctly, try starting a new save. the new create a save feature is incredibly code heavy, and it's been tested relentlessly, but i wouldn't be surprised if something crops up.
if starting a new save doesn't resolve your issue - please submit to bug report or just send me an ask/message.
some things have been meaning to get fixed for Some Time - thank you to everyone that is using the bug report form!
apologies if there are typos and/or bugs - this was a long one to edit and my lovely betas did an OUTSTANDING job reading so much for ep 3 - thank you so much again!!! this time i am going to give it a bit more time before i put together a patch so i can grab more error responses haha.
create a save has also added a wee chunk to the word count, somewhere around 6k, but i'm not including it in the episode 03 word count as it's purely code. so, if you think the total wc is off, that's why!
if you've read this far, happy reading and thank you so much for the continued support!! :) - becky <3

Live Emotion Game Introduction 1 - Live Performances
Out first proper look at Utapri's upcoming mobile game, Live Emotion is here!
The game is now confirmed as a rhythm game, and a short preview of the beatmaps has been showcased in a brand new clip.
As described on the official twitter account: In Live Emotion, you can play rhythm games and enjoy concerts. The idols will show off their brilliant performances in songs with live music videos, and in these music videos you will be able to change their outfits to costumes you have obtained during gameplay.
Further analysis below:
This matches up with the original preview image for Live Emotion, in which we can see the memebers of Starish realised in 3D looking out into an audience of fans and getting ready to perform. 3D dance visuals during songs has been a common element used in many rhythm games since Shining Live's release.
Tumblr media
Dance: In the new clip, we can see Starish wearing outfits from the promotional art for the game (likely the initial 'UR cards' or equivalent) and performing their new group song from the Live Emotion Theme Song CD, 'Kirameki Emotion.' As with other similar games, there is possibly an option with less camera movement to negate potential motion sickness from long play sessions. The models used for Starish look the same/similar to those used in the recent 3D concerts (Song Parade, All Star Stage Music Universe, etc).
Beatmap Style: As seen in this clip, there are only 2 rhythm icons, (one on the left and one on the right) compared to Shining Live's 6. It is likely that this is an easy level of the song, and higher difficulties (hard, expert etc) will have more challenge with faster beatmaps, more touch types (swipe, tap, hold etc) and potentially more rhythm icons. The same tap noises from Shining Live are used.
User Interface: The score gauge in the top left (including ranks C, B, A, and S), and energy meter, and pause button in the top right are similar to Shining Live's layout.
Special Time Gauge: At the bottom of the screen is a 'Special Time Gauge' that raises with every rhythm icon hit (possible only perfects). Unknown what exactly this affects.
If you notice anything else, let me know! Otherwise it looks like we can look forward to mroe clips like this soon!

I don't wanna clog anyone else's mentions with this but like I've seen multiple posts going around about how to evade YouTube's attempts to prevent adblockers and I know this isn't applicable to every situation (only works on Android phones) I recommend Newpipe. It's basically a third party YouTube client that as far as I understand works in a way that you as a user don't ever need to interface with YouTube itself. So you keep your data, there are no ads, and you can even make your own playlists and subscription feeds without logging in.
It also natively supports tabbing out while leaving videos playing (great for listening to music via YouTube while doing something else) and watching videos in a popup (something that AFAIK used to be a feature of the YouTube mobile app but was made into a premium feature).
The only downside is that watching through Newpipe doesn't register your views, which means that watching videos through Newpipe won't increase the channels' view count and thus cost them ad revenue, which does suck but since ad revenue is already tiny on YouTube I've reconciled this by finding other ways to support the YouTubers I enjoy. (Buying their games and art, supporting them on Patreon, or even throwing them a small tip on Ko-Fi, whatever.) Anyway, just wanted to share this, it's been an absolute godsend for me.

A lot of people ask why there isn't anyone installing tumblr themes anymore, besides mobile users here's my hurdles on trying to find tumblr themes that should shed light to hopefully inspire theme creators and those who want themes back. I don't mean this post to be discouraging...just something I found.
Most theme hunting blogs (such as theme hunters,code-hunters,etc.) have slow uploads or are dead outright. When I was theming way back when, these blogs had more active uploads, but now theyre kinda slow. You could count this with there not being many themes in general anymore, however I scroll through the tumblr theme tags and there's still a lot of themes that simply haven't been reblogged by these blogs. They stick in the tags where it may be harder for some to find them.
There's a lack of "cute" or "creative" themes. While there are some people that make really cool theme designs still, most themes tend to have the same minimalist layouts with similar looks. Long gone are the days where themes could look like this:
Tumblr media Tumblr media
While I get the want to make things eligible or responsive, it's still possible to match cute looks with eligible and/or responsive designs.
3. Lack of customization options
One of my favorite theme creators from way back when was Tuktut, Tuktut's themes have fairly standard designs, but they have so many customization options that it didn't matter. For example the sunny theme where Tuktut showcases 11 different photos on how you can customize it, with the potential for much more. Most themes have one or two looks minimum and that's it these days. It's overall blander for customization, looks, and takes away the wants or needs of the blogs.
4. Many dead blogs
There's an uncertainty with tumblr themes because many blogs that did/do create themes tend to jump ship to other blogs or die completely. How would a user know long term that the theme they installed will work long term or get help when the need it when the blog that created the theme dies?
5. Most unique and creative themes are inspired by the looks of other UIs rather than their own creative thing
Most themes that are creative I come across are inspired by UIs (User Interfaces) of other things, such as Windows XP, Macs, Google chrome, etc. Rather than their own creative spin on these ideas or something more unique. While those designs are great, it lessens the creativity of the theme landscape when there's 5 different themes based on Windows 95 but zero based on something more unique like an imaginary OS, imaginary video game, fictional creatures, etc.
6. Strong lack of fandom themes
Back then, there was a lot of fandom themes tied to people's favorite tv series and games. Especially during the SuperWhoLock days. However, now there are no longer themes dedicated to people's favorite blorbo, their blorbo's favorite snack or inspired by fan art of their blorbo eating blorbo's favorite snack while the blorbo browses the internet. If you see a blorbo in a theme it is set dressing at best. It brings less of a personal feel to themes.
These are just my opinions, and these don't apply to every modern theme or creator, but I feel like themes were a lot more interesting back in 2015 then they are today. I hope that my 6 points can provide some inspiration to creators rather than discouragement. I want to see more themes, not less.

BL Streaming - Which Service is Worth Your Money?
I’m bored and I have a little extra time this morning so it’s time for ABL to play with the spreadsheet of doom.
Occasionally I get the question:
If I were to subscribe to only one platform for BL which should I pick?
This post is dated May 2023.
Tumblr media
First things first. I am going to be (somewhat) objective about this and not judge on quality of content. Because if KinnPorsche is all you love in life, obvs you need iQIYI, but if you are a HIStory franchise stan, than it’s all about Viki. Those are your life choices, I’m just here to play numbers games, okay?
Secondly, some shows air on multiple platforms, particularly Viki & Gaga, but sometimes it’s Gaga & YouTube, occasionally it’s even iQIYI + others. This has only started happening in the last few years. Bed Friend was on 3 different platforms (GaGa, iQIYI, YT) - even though it was originally announced for Viki! I honestly don’t know how to track this, so I tend to log the spreadsheet with my preferred watching platform for that language, this will throw the numbers off for those platforms.
Since I join everything my platform preference choice is based on:
the quality of the subs/captions
the quality of the user experience
My subs experience tends to be:
YT = best for Thai
Viki = best for Korean and sometimes Japanese, okay for Thai
Gaga = best for Chinese and sometimes Japanese but very weak Thai subs
My user interface preference is:
YT, Viki, Gaga in that order then everyone else with iQIYI at the bottom. This is because I watch on mobile devices.
Tumblr media
ASplay, WeTV, former Line, Amarin TV, Netflix and the other smaller suppliers (and apps) will all be grouped together for this assessment. Since they have so few offerings, by default I would not recommend subbing those platforms unless you are a hard stan of all BL with disposable income.
Super bad BLs that I watched back in the day on grey sites or YT (pre 2020 crack down) because there were no other options and I am a completest are still listed as grey. I would never suggest anyone watch these shows anyway, so I don’t care if they have now shown up on legitimate sites. If they are somewhere, it’s likely Gaga. Which means Gaga’s percentage of the market share is probably UNDER reported by my numbers.
Movies and cinema-only releases that never got international distribution fall into the “grey” category. If I got it off an indie subber, since that too is technically illegal, it falls into the grey category as well.
Final note: This is from a USA based IP, I don’t use a VPN, so platforms assessments are from that perspective.
Spring 2023, current state of the spreadsheet. AKA
Our BL Data Set
Total # of BLs = 564
# of BLs ongoing (so finished runtime is best guess) = 18
Just Answer the Damn Question
Round Number of Actual BLs - % of market share
YouTube = 218 - 38.6%
Gaga = 148 - 26.2%
Viki = 77 - 13.7%
Grey = 53 - 9.4%
BLs I’ve never been able to find on any platform (including grey): 36 - 6.4%
iQIYI = 14 - 2.5%
Other platforms = 12 - 2.2%
Margin of error: +- 1% (look I’m just not driven to be that accurate here)
Subscription Platforms Breakdown  - % of market share
Eliminating YouTube, Grey, and missing BLs. Viki is included because I do not know which of theirs are behind the paywall and which are not.
Total subscribe-only BLs: 257
Gaga = 59%
Viki = 30%
iQIYI = 6%
Sml sites/apps = 5%
(rounded)
Okay but how about actual runtime?
Gaga = 360 hrs - 44%
Viki = 311 hrs - 38%
iQIYI = 98 hrs - 12%
Sml sites = 50 hrs - 6%
Anyway you cut it... on pure BL standards...
GAGAOOLALA WINS
Other consideration? In most places Gaga is ALSO the cheapest per month option.
Final Thoughts
Tumblr media
YouTube (America’s Alphabet)
YT has the most pieces of content and longest overall runtime because of all the Thai stuff. ALSO bootlegs show up there, especially the early Chinese and Japanese stuff. They will often get taken down and you have to hunt for it again. YT takedowns come in waves, every 6 months or so.
However, GMMTV, some Star Hunter, some Studio Wabi Sabi, all the Vietnamese & Pinoy stuff (until now), and a few choice bits of Strongberry are YT content.
YT’s app is the best UX of a poor set (for me), but the web based YT at Premium level doesn’t work with Firefox. I use YT for work A LOT, so the fee for Premium ($13.99) and lack of ads + downloads (travel) is worth it for me, but I think it probubly isn’t if you’re on a budget.
Tumblr media
GaGaOOLaLa (Taiwan’s Portico Media)
Of the pay to play platforms, GaGa dominates with the most BLs by all metrics. If you’re intersted in darker BL, GL and other queer content, very high heat, the history of the genre, or Japanese stuff - most of that is on GaGa. Also all of Strongberry and some of the newer queerer series (like My Ride).
At $6.99 a month it’s ALSO one of the cheapest options.
Gaga is based out of Taiwan, the only Asian country with marriage equality (as of 2022) AND it specializes in exclusively queer content so they need our support. If you can afford them, you should support them. GaGa is the only platform that will always have more BL, guaranteed (so long as Taiwan is autonomous). Ironically, you can follow their YT channel for previews and teasers to their latest series, short content, and acquisitions.
Their app isn’t great, but their web-based interface is fine. That said: there’s no categories (way to organize), and the way they roll out new episodes is unintuitive. Their mobile app ALWAYS pauses not mater what you actually want it to do and the lack of the quick skip ahead is frustrating.
Tumblr media
Viki (Japan’s Rakutan)
Viki specializes in longer series, mostly Thai, Taiwanese, and a few of the Chinese bromances. It also now has a lot of KBLs. But in general only more recent stuff (2018 is as far back as they go).
At $4.99-$11.99 depending, it’s low to average cost. I’m not sure which one (if any) you actually need for BL. Most of my favorite new shows tend to air on Viki, and I like Rakutan as a parent company, so I don’t mind supporting them.
They happen to have 5 of my top ten BLs, which is A LOT (since I hand out 10/10 so rarely). So for me they host the objective best BL content.
They have the second best app (after YT, it’s kinda a combo of YT + Netflix) but the lack of a speed-up option is frustrating for many. Also the desktop version is super buggy. But they DO have categories you can name and control, which I love.
Tumblr media
Other Platforms
iQIYI - is Mainland China based (hello Baidu, you ugly fucker), so the platform getting/pimping BL for an international audience only is… how do I put this?… oh yeah: shitty. I will often rename it Icky, for this reason. It clearly wants to break the market, but… do we want it in the market at all? How long will they host BLs? When will they be shut down and censored? I would say it’s only worth it if you really also like Chinese dramas. And even so, Viki also has A LOT of those. Unfortunately for us, Wabi Sabi seems to have cut a distribution deal with Icky. And, of course, there is the KinnPorsche situation (so ironic that Icky hosts the highest heat). The interface is a nightmare. They have the WORST app, even when you pay, it serves ads, some of which alpha crash the platform.
Netflix - here in the states it almost never has new BL content. Sometimes some old stuff. They tested the waters with SOTUS and Love Sick. I have a feeling they aren’t particularly intersted in this market. So if BL is what you watch, don’t bother. At last check they still had Gameboys and Your Name Engraved Herein and Wish You.
WeTV - acts like LineTV used to, has Manner of Death and We Best Love and a few of the more obscure Thai pulps. But probably not worth it for anyone but a completest.
Tumblr media
Grey - Unknown or No Distributor
Indie subbers: there’s some BLs that you can watch by supporting indie subbers who supply private links to their personal versions. This is not legal, but it is a slightly nicer way to get stuff you can’t find anywhere else. I’ve done this for some Thai and Japanese stuff.
I find the leads for these sources here on Tumblr. If someone is giffing and talking about a show and I don’t know how they are getting hold of it, I simply ask.
DramaCool (USA) & Dailymotion (France) & Bilibili (China) and others - AKA the grey space. You SHOULD feel guilty using these sites, you’re stealing, but it’s where many of us go for BL we can’t find anywhere else (in defiance of what few morals we have left). These are BLs that originally sold to very odd platforms or never got international distribution. Unfortunately, some of my favorites are in this category like Great Men Academy or Seven Days. It’s a nightmare. The ads are terrible and the virus/bug risk is high. They get taken down all the time. Or the leads are faked. I use an old computer to access and suggest you take all necessary precautions yourself.
P’ABL SOAP BOX TIME
Look I work tangential to the entertainment industry, so if you thought I wasn’t going to learn you a little on this subject, you got another think coming.
HERE’S THE THING:
You watch a show on one of the grey platforms, ESPECIALLY if it actually has distribution on Gaga or Viki - you better review that shit. You spread the word and advocate for that content here, on MDL, on social media, with fan art, I don’t care. You steal it, you find a way to pay back in your time and/or creativity.
I get it if you’re poor, but don’t be a goddamn scab. Find a way to reward content creators with non-monetary support. If you had the time to watch the thing you stole, you have time to pay it forward in some substantial way. Do this even if you didn’t steal it but got it for free. Do this if you read fanfic. Do this with articles, blogs, books. Do this with podcasts.
It isn’t hard to be a decent human and support creators. Don’t you dare just TAKE. If you’re that kind of person stop reading this blog immediately. I don’t want anything to do with you and you don’t deserve my words or my spreadsheet of Doom.

Hi! I’m a student currently learning computer science in college and would love it if you had any advice for a cool personal project to do? Thanks!
Personal Project Ideas
Tumblr media
Hiya!! 💕
It's so cool that you're a computer science student, and with that, you have plenty of options for personal projects that can help with learning more from what they teach you at college. I don't have any experience being a university student however 😅
Someone asked me a very similar question before because I shared my projects list and they asked how I come up with project ideas - maybe this can inspire you too, here's the link to the post [LINK]
However, I'll be happy to share some ideas with you right now. Just a heads up: you can alter the projects to your own specific interests or goals in mind. Though it's a personal project meaning not an assignment from school, you can always personalise it to yourself as well! Also, I don't know the level you are, e.g. beginner or you're pretty confident in programming, if the project sounds hard, try to simplify it down - no need to go overboard!!
Tumblr media
But here is the list I came up with (some are from my own list):
Personal Finance Tracker
A web app that tracks personal finances by integrating with bank APIs. You can use Python with Flask for the backend and React for the frontend. I think this would be great for learning how to work with APIs and how to build web applications 🏦
Online Food Ordering System
A web app that allows users to order food from a restaurant's menu. You can use PHP with Laravel for the backend and Vue.js for the frontend. This helps you learn how to work with databases (a key skill I believe) and how to build interactive user interfaces 🙌🏾
Movie Recommendation System
I see a lot of developers make this on Twitter and YouTube. It's a machine-learning project that recommends movies to users based on their past viewing habits. You can use Python with Pandas, Scikit-learn, and TensorFlow for the machine learning algorithms. Obviously, this helps you learn about how to build machine-learning models, and how to use libraries for data manipulation and analysis 📊
Image Recognition App
This is more geared towards app development if you're interested! It's an Android app that uses image recognition to identify objects in a photo. You can use Java or Kotlin for the Android development and TensorFlow for machine learning algorithms. Learning how to work with image recognition and how to build mobile applications - which is super cool 👀
Social Media Platform
(I really want to attempt this one soon) A web app that allows users to post, share, and interact with each other's content. Come up with a cool name for it! You can use Ruby on Rails for the backend and React for the frontend. This project would be great for learning how to build full-stack web applications (a plus cause that's a trend that companies are looking for in developers) and how to work with user authentication and authorization (another plus)! 🎭
Text-Based Adventure Game
If you're interested in game developments, you could make a simple game where users make choices and navigate through a story by typing text commands. You can use Python for the game logic and a library like Pygame for the graphics. This project would be great for learning how to build games and how to work with input/output. 🎮
Weather App
Pretty simple project - I did this for my apprenticeship and coding night classes! It's a web app that displays weather information for a user's location. You can use Node.js with Express for the backend and React for the frontend. Working with APIs again, how to handle asynchronous programming, and how to build responsive user interfaces! 🌈
Online Quiz Game
A web app that allows users to take quizzes and compete with other players. You could personalise it to a module you're studying right now - making a whole quiz application for it will definitely help you study! You can use PHP with Laravel for the backend and Vue.js for the frontend. You get to work with databases, build real-time applications, and maybe work with user authentication. 🧮
Chatbot
(My favourite, I'm currently planning for this one!) A chatbot that can answer user questions and provide information. You can use Python with Flask for the backend and a natural language processing library like NLTK for the chatbot logic. If you want to mauke it more beginner friendly, you could use HTML, CSS and JavaScript and have hard-coded answers set, maybe use a bunch of APIs for the answers etc! This project would be great because you get to learn how to build chatbots, and how to work with natural language processing - if you go that far! 🤖
Tumblr media
Another place I get inspiration for more web frontend dev projects is on Behance and Pinterest - on Pinterest search for like "Web design" or "[Specific project] web design e.g. shopping web design" and I get inspiration from a bunch of pins I put together! Maybe try that out!
I hope this helps and good luck with your project!

Pokemon HOME will receive its Pokemon SV connectivity update on May24.
You’ll be able to receive a Sprigatito, Fuecoco, and Quaxly with Hidden Abilities as Mystery Gifts in the mobile version of Pokémon HOME.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
Meanwhile, when bringing a Pokémon from the Switch version of Pokémon HOME into a linked game you will be able to change the moves it knows from among a list of moves it has learned up to that point. They're limited to Gen8 moves tho.
You'll be able to put in Pokémon back from SV into SwSh, Legends, or BDSP if they existed in that game.
You'll also be able to exchange Home Points into League Points.
New mobile Pokémon HOME user interface where you can see if the Pokemon is allowed into a certain version. (Like, say if you have a Furfrou, it wouldn't be allowed in any of them.)
Achievements for Paldea will be added:

Note
Is mice tea mobile friendly?
If you buy the game from itch.io, we have a whole Android version with a mobile-specific user interface to make using it on a touch-screen easier.

Pixiv for Beginners
(Note: I wrote this for finding Jack Jeanne art but most of it is usable for finding Japanese fan art in general, including for other otome series)
Pixiv is a website primarily for Japanese speakers for both fan art and fanfic, both of which generally fit under the umbrella of "doujinshi" (同人誌). This word sometimes has connotations of being nsfw (r18) but there’s a lot of content that is cute fluff and all-ages (全年齢).
While most of the content on the site is in Japanese, the site interface has an English version that makes it pretty easy to sign up and use. You can find the English site here: https://www.pixiv.net/en/
Mobile users can also find an app version: iOS | Android
Make an account like you would with any other site. Pretty standard.
Once you’re registered and logged in, you can start searching. For Jack Jeanne art, good tags to start with are ジャックジャンヌ and JACKJEANNE (all caps). You can choose to limit results to all ages, r18 only, or both.
The ‘top’ tab gives you some of the best entries in the tag. Illustrations are likely the most useful category for non-Japanese speakers. Manga is, well, manga (machine translating these would require some sort of OCR program) and novels is the category it uses for fanfiction. The text is readable by browser machine translators and is compatible with automatic JP-EN dictionary lookup apps like Yomichan. Unfortunately, the pixiv search and tag features are not on the level of depth of something like AO3 but you can search for ship tags or specific character names.
You can like and follow both creators and works both publicly (short click/tap) or privately (click/tap and hold).
The most popular JJ ships are between the main LIs + Kisa in the following order: Neji, Fumi, Mitsuki, Sou, Kai, Suzu (see previous post of JP ship names). But all of the characters have decent followings so you can usually find things, even for the side characters. I’ll attach the full list of character names in Japanese under the read line since this post is already pretty long. You can search for any of these on pixiv or even just Google and will likely find something. Here is a character list with images (JP).
Generally, you can find character name lists by searching the name of the game in Japanese (Wikipedia or VNDB can help you out) + キャラ一覧.
JJ character names in Japanese sorted by class:

Just out of curiosity
Has anyone else seen this notice?
I mean probably no one uses this feature but still
For those who are in the know or want to be in the know I guess Twitter’s Application Programming Interface (API) has always been free and now it’s becoming locked behind a paywall.
If a company from Japan is shutting down the support for their two big mobile games (I’m assuming this notice was brought up in Obey Me! as well), I question how much Elon is trying to make off of this to recuperate his losses.
So doing some digging at the most barebones level it will be $100/month. I also saw an article that Microsoft is opting out of it as well (not sure about Sony). Basically you won’t be able to have a Twitter linked to your XBox account and can’t share videos and screenshots to Twitter. But $100/month? Surely these companies can pay for this!
I say $100/month for low level capacity. This is just a very broad estimate, but let’s say one API subscription can handle about 10-20 accounts at a time. Let’s say Xbox currently has 100 million active users an estimate.
That is half a billion dollars a month Microsoft would have to pay Musk so they can use have Twitter as a social media option on their platform.
