gonna go just a little crazy
#marzi speaks#in poly sci rn n my neck hurts from this notes hunch i’m in but i cannot help it#but we were asking questions abt representation in congress#n one dude goes ‘why doesn’t congress do anyrhing about border issues’#but he says it in such an aggressive ‘there are invaders coming to ruin the economy’ way#and our professor who is good at neutral language answered his question abt as well as he could#(‘while i can’t speak for them the lack of action in any direction is likely due to polarization and gridlock’)#but whatever right i’m used to people who are loudly opinionated#eventually he gets to my question#on the slides there was a graph showing the representation of LGB congress members#i wanted to know if there were any trans members#my professor started to answer with ‘i don’t know! there hasn’t been a lot of research into this demographic and i’ll have to look into it’#when the SAME DUDE butts in like ‘there’s one and he has stolen luggage and done this and that and ALSO is married to a lesbian navy general#(he phrased that last one like it was as grave a crime as theft)#i got so fucking blindsided like dude. i was asking a statistical question why are you so aggressively asserting that this moc sucks#calm down. jesus#anyways the girl in front of me quietly turned to me like ‘i looked it up he’s on the HoR’ and the relief in my face was likely evident#bc hey. a normal fucking answer to a non-opinionated question#anyways no clue what that guy looks like bc big lecture theatre but. dude. cmon#he also later referred to me as she and sure whatever he was going off of voice#but i do not want That Guy to refer to me as she. my mouth felt like ash#blegh. eugh.#anyways. now i have to watch out for sudden loaded language outta nowhere#yippee !!!!#so funny tho bc everyone was trying so hard to be like ‘here are the facts’ or ‘here’s my opinion’ in a civil way#and then there’s this guy who’s like ‘This Is My Opinion (AKA The Truth) Why Are Government Not Listen To Truth’#like bro !!!! chill tf out ur scary

I was thinking about that one (bad, stupid) post about there being “no indication that Ed wasn’t white.” Which is ridiculous, of course, but also it is very important that Ed, in fact, isn’t white. It’s neither incidental that he’s an indigenous man but nor is it treated as Representation. We do not get Ed explicitly discussing his indigenous-ness (or proving it to the audience). Like the other queer/disabled/PoC characters, it is simply a part of who he is.
Tumblr media
But it’s not ignored. They cast a Māori woman to play his mother and a white man to play his father. They show Ed having deeply toxic relationships with angry white men. They treat of the optics of a white man buying an indigenous man from the English, of a white man resenting an indigenous man for his success and power, and of how Ed signs the act of Grace with an X as a protest against coercion. It’s IMPORTANT that Ed is not white, but it is not the only important thing about Ed.
And it’s important to his relationship with Stede and with the crew. Casting a white actor to play Ed would have created a relationship between two white captains with a supporting cast of PoC, which in itself would shift the dynamics within the show and how we read it. I recently saw a few folks note that Stede’s first interaction with Izzy would point to an enemies to lovers narrative in a different show. And this would, again, shift the dynamic of the show and its project massively by centering a romance between two white men.
(Another of the many reasons I’m deeply uncomfortable with Stizzy—it centralizes the white guys and sidelines the MoC lead. This issue also feeds into the racism of some of the weirder Izzy takes we’ve seen, because if you decide Izzy is the true protagonist then that certainly makes Ed the antagonist.)
OFMD does such a good job at representation because it treats all its characters like people. It doesn’t ignore things like racism and homophobia but neither is it a story about Overcoming Racism and Homophobia. Unlike a lot of mainstream attempts at representation, it treats not-white, not-cis, not-straight characters as human beings.

Yeah,no,Zutaras don't care about representation for anyone other than themselves.Because if they did,why do they
Call Aang white because they don't like him while knowing full well he's tibetan and come up with every insult in the book for him because he's a femme boy
Say Mai is a pick me and toxic because of her autistic-coding and trauma responses and dosen't 'deserve' Zuko even though he canonically finds the former attractive and has the latter too
Accuse Zukka shippers of being fujoshis who 'just hate women' for wanting Sokka to be bi and Zuko his boyfriend when most Zukka shippers are queer minors who only started the fandom because Atla got put on Netflix so that's how they found out it then instead of when it came out
And completely disregard Ty Lee as an even potentional love interest for Zuko by calling her 'too much of a bimbo' and 'stereotypically girly' for him when she was written with deconstructing that archetype in mind by giving her real emotions and what it puts girls through by misogynists who want to police how we present even if it's a healing/coping mechanism like in her case?
If moc queer or not love Kataang, they get called dudebros with no basis. If autistic women instead of just 'quirky nerds' love Maiko, they get strawmaned as 'creepy alt girls who're trying too hard'.If gay and trans people love Zukka, they get the classic 'these FILTHY GAYS are RUINING our HETEROSEXUAL SPACE' take. And if autistic queer girls who're femme in ways that aren't palpable to allistics and cishets love Ty Luko,we get told we aren't even worth considering romantic options because we're too 'stupid' and can't 'really have deep connections' that aren't being someone's annoying friend. You wanted Zutara to be canon because you're a woc like Katara and had a crush on Zuko?Cool,i feel the same way about Ty Luko and so do certain Maiko and Zukka shippers with their ships but none of run around cyberbullying school children and causing unnecessary infighting over it!So be quiet, not everything is about you and at this point we've proven we're too good to be near you so leave and don't forget to let door hit you on the way out♡

More IC ideas curtsey of my rewrite
Mor should have been Illyrian and Azriel should have been Keir's son. This solves 70% of the problems surrounding the IC, trust me
First of all, we are desperately in need of a female Illyrian perspective and not just in the context of Illyria. Having one as a prominent character throughout would have been so much better than 3 Illyrian men with internalised racism
Secondly, Mor, Cassian and Feyre's friendship would make it appropriate for Feyre to go to Illyria and work alongside them to sort things out. We get Cassian as a representation of the class discrimination and Mor, a noble born Illyrian woman, as a representation of the misogyny. Feyre continues her role as protagonist and general cursebreaker. She also produces active change, earning her title as HL.
Thirdly, Mor faces the same sort of treatment for being born in the CoN but it's not really plot relevant in any way. Making her character Illyrian ties into the overall narrative (which is ass but we're working with what we have)
Edit: Mor is supposed to be a warrior, it could have been she's wanted to participate in the blood rite for years but never got the chance, even when Cassian and Rhys did, and "silver flames" could have been the chance to do that. It would hold so much emotional weight
*
Cassian should have ended up with an Illyrian woman, in this case Emerie. It helps centre his story around Illyria but - because he and his female friend were also affected - it doesn't root his actions in his love interest's trauma in a way that detracts from her and makes him the centre, but a collective experience of himself and the women important to him (his mom, his best friend and his wife/mate)
+ Azriel being Illyrian serves no purpose except to add to the fetishisation of moc. He is literally a shadowsinger and Keir's army is called the Darkbringers. He works in the CoN, he's a spy and the capital is teeming with plots against Rhys
Through Illyrian Mor just existing as a member of the IC we would get a sense that Rhysand is more aware of and concerned with the struggles of female Illyrians. Since his mom and sister are both dead and nameless and have no weight in the story
Of course she and Cassian would still be narratively problematic considering the writing around Illyria as a whole but that's why I said 70%

Thinking about David talking in that podcast about how he didn’t want to be just “the Latino superhero”, but then starting to realise what that representation meant to people and especially to young people and just.. the stark difference between s1&2 Diego where his race was never even remotely touched upon vs s3 Diego who speaks Spanish to his kid and gets to have a conversation about his experiences as a moc. I remember after s2 came out somebody asked him about Allison’s storyline revolving around the racism in the 60s she experienced as a Black woman while for Diego is was never touched upon and I can’t remember exactly what he said but it was kinda just brushed off as “I don’t think Diego would really let that stuff affect him” and idk I just think it’s really cool, with the input the actors get to have into their characters in the show, how we get to see David’s personal growth through Diego as he realises the impact he has and starts to incorporate more of his culture into the character. Like yeah there’s SO much more to Diego than just being the Latino superhero, but he IS a Latino superhero and that is so so important.

My problem with acotar isn't that it's bad
It's the fact that it pretends to be good
The romance sucks (tell me one thing that feyre and Rhys have in common besides sex? Tell me a way they would've been in love if the situations were different if they weren't bounded by the plot)
The world building sucks ( the magical land of Europe and great Britain with ye olde names and misused pieces of every mythology mashed together)
The representation sucks (Rhysand it's a white guy with a tan the official arts he is white with a tan and yet I see people acting like he is THE moc)
The feminist message sucks very much( feyre has options she has power she dresses like a concubine because it's #girlpower she has to birth a child in her early twenties because it's empowering to be a young mother after spending her whole teenage years being the child parent in her own home)
But here's the thing I don't really care about how bad it is I love me some trashy pop culture but my hatred is people who try to make this book a thing it isn't
Which is good
It's not a feminist power fantasy with amazing world building and poc representation
It's a erotica who only got popular because it was mistagged ya

w here do the ppl who share these dumbass takes even COME from... how is trying to wreck the ship in the middle of a massive storm killing everyone and himself and threatening ppl at gunpoint NOT violent... and how is any MOC being depicted as a 2D caricature of "Flawless and Virtuous Victimhood" (totally never a loaded concept) the only alternative to racist violent/impulsive/hyper-emotional stereotypes (that's not just a dif way of dehumanizing characters of color). and y r u SAYING all this just bc of like. shipping wars over a high-concept sitcom on the internet. wack. new types of ppl on earth every day.
it's so crazy because it really is a complete lack of media literacy which ik is a statement overused but dear fucking lord.
people have no idea how to actually analyze the role poc play within a narrative, contextualize it within both a narrative and historical framework, and apply an antiracist lens from there! things are so much more complicated than just having "good" representation of poc where they're never violent or angry or abusing substances. that's simply not the reality for many poc, especially queer poc who are in communities that are chronically traumatized.
ed's just? so complex and nuanced in a way that characters of color are rarely allowed to be. he isn't vilified by the narrative! he's given depth and time to explore the reasons why he's like this. and then instead of being written off as a lost cause, he's afforded kindness from others and a space where he's able to better himself.

why am I not surprised that LO missed the point of Princess and the Frog? No Lily, the movie was not hitting Tiana over the head that she needed to stop obseesiving over her restaurant and find love. It was saying that because of her obsession to open a restaurant she was missing out on her life. On the things right in front of her. It was always about finding the balance of achieving her dreams without working herself to death.
but Tiana is a black woman so she's only good for romance and, in fact, it would have been even better if she had end up with her best friends instead of the prince because MOC don't need positive representation anyway. *sarcasm*

I'm Indian and I feel like Illyrian culture is portrayed so similar to South Asian and Middle Eastern culture...and with all that when SJM portrays them as 'savages' it feels so....stereotypical and racist to me like-
The only POC subgroup within the NC and they are called 'savages' and all live in poverty and cannot be changed like-that just screams racism to me but sometimes I feel like I'm exaggerating or am looking too deeply into it.Like I was wondering what everyone else's opinion is on this.
I truly feel like some of SJM's portrayals are so- stereotyped.Like she pulls cultures from the actual world-puts them into her fantasy novel in such a way that it looks awfully racist.
But then it might just be me :/
Please don't feel as if your opinion is invalid; your opinion is always valued. Many people have expressed similar views. If you check the anti sjm tag, you can see a lot of people are not happy with her works, not just for the representation of POC, but LGBT representation, treatment of mentally ill characters, treatment of women - the list goes on.
Illyrians have brown skin and are savages. They're almost primitive with little magic and live in tents. The two most powerful Illyrians aren't like the rest - they're good and don't hold any of the values of the others. Mutilating a female's wings so she can't leave when wings are meant to be valued at all costs is an allegory to FGM. They won't change. They're just there to die in wars. Yeah, it's a pretty disgusting creation from SJM.
"The gift of a violent, warmongering people."
Obviously, that's all they are with no variance. The only two that are different are the most powerful two who are the good guys. There's no difference between how they celebrate Winter Solstice, any holy days, their food/culture etc.
Mor in ACOMAF says the whole place should be burnt to the ground - and then people ship her and Emerie together. I've seen a post that said Emorie would just be Pocahontas/John Smith.
When Feyre first goes to Velaris, she's given "Night Court attire" which is then never really seen again (except Amren wears a similar style but nobody else does).
My high-waisted peach pants were loose and billowing, gathered at the ankles with velvet cuffs of bright gold. The long sleeves of the matching top were made of gossamer, also gathered at the wrists, and the top itself hung just to my navel, revealing a sliver of skin as I walked. Comfortable, easy to move in—to run. Feminine. Exotic.
Which to me is as if she just wanted the aesthetic of an "exotic" culture then forgot about it/didn't bother actually developing it.
Tumblr media
There's lots to be said about her various characterisations - and lots has been said. For example Helion being canonically bisexual but also falling into the bisexuals want to sleep with everyone trope. Or how Tarquin, a young black man, is treated as a stepping stone for Feyre to train; she flirts with him to get what she wants and steals the Book of Breathing from his court.
Another thing, is when they're discussing Rhys being high king
Azriel stepped forward, shadows trailing from his shoulders. “Kallias, Tarquin, and Helion might be willing to kneel. Thesan will kneel if the others do.”
3 out of 4 of those names who would be willing to kneel to supreme overlord Rhys are MOC which makes me feel very icky. Tarquin and Helion are both black and Thesan's mother is from Xian (which is likely another place that she's taken snippets from other cultures to suit the aesthetic she wants then will promptly forget about) and is brown skinned with "up-tilted eyes".
It's all very, very gross and there are definitely elements of racism ingrained to it. Other people have delved into it in a lot more detail - and have explained it far more eloquently than I can. Please know that your opinion is valid. If you are made uncomfortable and upset from the portrayals, do not push them aside. There is a reason why it is making you uncomfortable and that is because they are racist stereotypes.

Ok so i heard....subzero was gonna be kuai liang originally for mk12/mk1. But they chose bihan and to nationality swap scorpion and the shirai-ryu? They made scorp for some unholy reason kuai and a fire ninja?
Why?
Nrs you have no good explanation for this.
From what i heard from the mocap and face claim actor for quan chi. Who is i believe middle eastern,I'm not sure tho so forgive me. But he is a moc/poc none the less.
I was told he didn't feel comfortable given nrs permission to use his likeness, and was worried about future endeavors with the company. Aka,he is concerned that they'll just use the face models and not actually hire anyone, and use ai for voice work or majority of the product.
Which is true. Netherealm studios is in for a real world of hurt and backlash by fans even more.
Honestly, the concepts of mk12/mk1 is better than the actual game. Fr fr.
I'm hoping that the VA and face models actually get better treatment tho. Because if consent isn't 100% given when contracting. And they pull sneaky shit. I smell a lawsuit.
Because the quan chi actor,he said he's happy that he gets representation but he hates how it happened. (In my deepest honest opinions tho. If anyone is gonna be middle eastern representation it needs to be jade, tanya,or rain. Because making quan chi a known demon character that is a bit.....questionable to me. Especially now. Even if the character isn't one....he is known always almost as one. So to do that. Is....not good to me. I just feel mk12/mk1 is a tad more on the nose with the racism but only enough to get by the radar to not get sued. But enough they can sneak by. It's always been a problem. Ever notice to there is less n less female characters? And all the ones tend to be conveniently from outworld and "exotic" areas? I find it funny how we never get a woman as a mk champion, how we never really have a female focused mk story. Women warriors exist, some even more brutal than the men. So how come in a setting where women can be savage. The only ones allowed have to be mileena or sindel. Or the quote unquote "monsterous" characters Hmmmmm makes you wonder. Why is the villains suddenly ok but still sidelined but declawed in their villainy? Explain nrs. Do tell me why you continue to make shitty decisions?)
Mk12/mk1 is ok in concept. But outside of it,in actuality it's not that great of an mk game. It has too many flaws, and most of them are questionable at mild. Look im gonna be honest, shang tsung is the only thing they focused on doing decent. And everyone else is an afterthought. And it sucks as a shang tsung fan,to see that. Because as much as i love shang tsung and i will stan him to the day i die. As well as love him for his i guess badboyness. Lol. I still want him to have a good story around him. Ya know?
And it sucks because i love other characters too but all of them in the new game sucks.
*sigh*
Anywho. Enough ranting.
I just hope that if nrs is up to shady shit. They get called fully out, exposed, and employees get compensation.

In which Clem Talleyfer deserves to be a Tumblr Man(TM)
One of so many reasons why more people on tumblr need to know about K.J. Charles' books:
Clem Talleyfer and Rowley Green, the heroes of An Unseen Attraction. (The first of a deliberately potboilery Victorian murder mystery trilogy, though there's nothing potboilery about the romances.) It's set in the early 1870s in London.
Clem: gay, dyspraxic, brown (father a white (and horrifying) aristocrat; mother working-class and Indian and oh Gods the backstory is upsetting, warning about that) lodging house keeper. Kind and compassionate and friendly (when he feels safe) and tall and devastatingly gorgeous. Literal and anxious and very neurodivergent generally and with a wonderful dry humour and not enough confidence. Attends poetry lectures at the working men's club, is beginning to learn Hindi, goes to a wonderful secret queer pub and has friends there and also to another rather lovely-sounding pub mostly frequented by Indian immigrants and other brown British people.
Rowley: gay, small, extremely short-sighted, thinks he's ordinary-looking, working-class, very PTSD-ridden (his childhood was appalling, again content warnings there), conflict-averse, extremely neat-fingered, animal-loving taxidermist (yes really) and abuse survivor. Solitary and polite and considerate and peaceful and warm-hearted and very intelligent. Also lacks confidence, though in different ways. One of the paying guests at the lodging house (with his shop being the neighbouring one). Big Dickens fan; quotes Mr Venus from Our Mutual Friend in dramatic moments.
They're both in their mid-30s, older than some of KJ Charles' heroes (who are usually in their early to late 20s) and I adore that.
And omg the love that forms between them is just... oh my heart. I relate to both pretty heavily in different ways (in particular Clem's sensory overwhelm and way of talking and difficulty with ordered tasks and objects is all just... oh my, I've rarely felt so represented in any fiction when it comes to the way my brain works) and I want to protect them both from all harm. They see each other as neither has ever been seen before. Also the sex scenes are gorgeous (containing *extremely* soft and to my mind very hot kink in some cases), and also skippable if that's not your cup of tea, though you do get some character development etc. through them.
I have loved all of KJ Charles' books that I've read so far but this is my favourite because Clem and Rowley are my favourites. And honestly they deserve a wealth of fanart and adoration. <3
Content warning for violence, murder, taxidermy, accounts of past child abuse and past school bullying, reference to past sexual violence, and representation of homophobia, ableism, classism, and racism (no racial slurs are used and it's kept low-key, but it's there). I note that KJ Charles has a list of content warnings on her website which is partly why I love her. So to say this is an outright recommendation would be overstating things, there is some hard stuff here. Also Charles is white and so am I, so though she seems to have done her research very thoroughly and to have taken very great and deeply sympathetic care over the portrayal of Clem, I can't guarantee I've not missed something flawed in the representation in terms of his being a MOC. But I think a lot of people on here would love this book and especially this relationship, and oh my do Clem and Rowley deserve a lot of love. :-)
(Also I know the person the book is dedicated to and she's awesome. :D )

Only tangentially related to the ROP discussions you've been having as of late, but I'm replaying Breath of the Wild and I'm reminded how pleasantly surprised I was to find that this iteration of Hyrule not only has Hylians of all skintones all over Hyrule, but also has a whole village of Black Hylians. Zelda has never been perfect and still isn't in terms of racial representation, but it does make me happy to see how far it's come. (Also a major fuck you to people who think Hylians, and by extension, Link, could never be black or otherwise a MOC.)
"It's based on Europe" yeah but it's also a fictional place and it was made by Japanese people and it's not like Europe has never had any amount of people of color ever and despite being based on Europe the franchise has been profoundly Japanese because, surprisingly, it was made in Japan, and I found myself recognizing Japanese interjections and thinking words sprinkled into the dialogue when talking to all the non-VA characters which wouldn't make any sense if this truly is supposed to be medieval Europe.
I know I'm just preaching to the choir here but I'm always irked by this.
The Zelda series has never been- and still isn't- fantastic about race relations. Having an entire race of bad-guys-only dark skinned, big-nosed, desert-dwelling people and they are based entirely in anti-Arab stereotypes is Not A Great Look. They fixed it slightly in BotW by having us directly visit them and learn that they are not actually bad people, and are just as harmed by the prophecy that brings Ganon to life as Hylians, but they still exist as a harem stereotype and a drastic misunderstanding/bad faith interpretation of Arabic life.
I am looking forward to the next installation, I did really like BotW and was pleasantly surprised as well as very warmed by the inclusion of various body types and skin tones and implications of LGBT peoples within the world. I hope they continue that trend in the next one.

Please tell me how Duke,Cass and Stephanie getting nonstop left out of Batfam content isn't because of antiblackness, racialized misogyny and a mix of gender essentialism, classism and ableism. When none of you can shut the fuck up about how 'black haired and blue eyed male is the only requirement for a Batkid!' and go as far as to include 'pale/fair skinned' sometimes when Damian and Dick are brownskin in multiple versions because of being brown in heritage and Damian and Jason have green eyes half the time and by saying 'lighteyed' when it comes to Batboys, that would be problematic but it'd at least include Duke since he's gold eyed due to Gnonom and you probably don't even know who that is since you actively refuse to meet Duke even though he's easiest Batkid to read for BECAUSE he's got so little content and Cass and Stephanie also have a small amount of material compared to the other boys
When Cass is chosen over Duke for Jason by all of you even though she hates him and she chooses Stephanie again and again against everyone's wishes and Duke canonically WANTS to be chosen for fucking once and Jason DID choose him and is the only other Batboy who called him a Robin directly outside of Robin War and Stephanie's dying wish was be 'a real Robin' and Cass' character creation purpose is to defy the idea that asian women exist only for white men and go against other asian girl stereotypes,INCLUDING being purely soft and feminine by making her a rough and tough butch who hates cis men. When you say 'Fuck canon, fanon is better!' to justify your millions of rewrites to erase Tim's Robin being a romani man and his Batgirl a half chinese girl and Jason's Robin and Batgirl being a black autistic boy and his Batgirl a bpdtistic male explotation victim and your crossovers of characters who have the perfect parents or at least caretakers in canon but suddenly, canon is your gospel when it comes to the bigotry in it's writing i.e how 'The core Batkids' came to be
And the fact is,that's like the only Batkids combo that DOSEN'T make sense! The Dead Robins Club is a no brainer but there's also the 90s Batkids trinity, the Shakespearen Robins(Jason,Stephanie and Duke),The Troubled Batkids(Tim,Stephanie,Cass and Duke),Batman!Cass Batwoman!Stephanie Robin!Maps and Trans Batgirl!Damian and the ONLY CANON Nightwing Robin and Batgirl trio we've ever gotten in Dick Tim and Cass??????You have some of the best dynamics of all time possible but nah, you'd rather pass it over for infantalizing a grown ass disabled moc into your pathetic lil pretty obsessed manchild, turning thee dead sidekick into a convuluted mess more than canon ever has and that's saying BIG words, cringeifying someone who just has the personality of an ordinary of 17 year old boy and is therefore inherently lovable into the arranged marriage lovechild of a dark romance guy and a pick me quotev girl and dehumanize a cute and sweet lil brown boy who's got that trauma already to turn him into an animal in human mold in the same breath you bash him healing enough to get a gf through trauma bonding and being kiddy together in favor of your groody ass lil age gap fantasy-Actually,that applies to ALL OF THEM
Kory,Rose and STEPHANIE are infinitely better written love interests for Dick,Jason and Tim than any older man you want them to get with,Tim most of all because he's not even a man,he's a boy.Cass and Stephanie are adults and have been for a long time in multiple incarnations so why not make Stephcass smut instead? Why not 'Duke joins the Batfam early/Jason takes Duke into The Outlaws after he has a fight with Bruce that scared him/Sleep Deprived Duke Thomas/Chaotic Duke Thomas/Duke Thomas deserves better/Trans Duke Thomas/Autistic Duke Thomas?,all of which are infinitely more implicable to Duke than they are to Tim and so is 'Token Normal Tim Drake'?When you make this content or you support it,you're saying something. You're saying you don't care about representation and perfer stereotyping and abusive dynamics because you believe they're inherently more interesting
Before you judge this post, consider the following:Which one of us has read enough comics and watched enough adaptions to know all this?Which one of us has more of a right to call themself a Batfam and Batkids fan?Which one of us is constantly gatekeeping Duke,Cass and Stephanie from their own story and pulling the 'No,YOU!!!!' card? It's absolutely pathetic how desperate the grip Batfanon has taken is and even more so that y'all refuse to move on from it like i did. It's not gonna kill you,you pissbabies. And just curious, how long was the last Batfam-centric post you rb'd?Longer than this, right?

One) let people ship who they want to ship
Two) I've seen a lot of people (including myself) get introduced to 911 because of buddie (Rafael from Lone Star thought they were a freaking couple!)
Three) yeah, maybe there's queer baiting going on but in all honesty the amount of stories the show can create from Buck and Eddie getting together would be great and plentiful if written well. (Eddie coming out as a 30 something MOC from a religious family is something I would love to see because it would represent me and countless of other people).
4) if fans want buddie this bad, then maybe there's something to be said about having more queer representation in media?
Getting off the soap box now.

While I do enjoy webtoons and some of the stories I find on it are amazing, some of the stories I find really tells me how that creator view black people/minority. Like this one comic on webtoon canvas called as you wish captivated until I saw that they made a black girl an antagonist/bulky to the white main lead (who love interest is a moc) like come on. Plus the amount of white leads in majority of webtoon original. At least there's starting to be more poc leads but still doesn't outweighs the amount of one's with white leads. I follow more canvas stories more because they have more black girl leads in them. I only follow webtoon original that really interest me or have a woc/poc in the lead.
Ugh that is so maddening. I haven’t read Webtoons in a while but it is still interesting to see. The whole bully thing reminds me of Wednesday, goddamn. 😭
I have been lucky to see good representation for Black girls in Webtoons such as He’s Harmless I Swear, BUT I get what you’re saying. Don’t worry, if you search more you will find them, I promise!
