LITTLE MIX star Jade Thirlwall is finally dropping her debut single – and it includes a dig at her former boss Simon Cowell.

It seems she has unfinished business with the music mogul and takes aim at him in the lyrics of the song, Angel Of My Dreams.

It features the telling line: “Sold my soul to a SyCo” a reference to Simon’s now- defunct record label — which the girl band quit in 2018.

And Jade also looks to have taken a pop at the former X Factor supremo himself in the big-budget video for the track, which she has been secretly shooting in ­London.

The promo depicts Jade as a youngster trying to find fame, along with a mysterious man smoking a cigar who ­controls the music industry.

Fans will see this as a nod to Simon, who plucked Jade and her old bandmates Perrie Edwards, Jesy Nelson and Leigh-Anne Pinnock from thousands of pop hopefuls on the ­talent show back in 2011.

However, the relationship later turned sour after the group confronted Simon in a strongly worded email over their writing credits.

A bigger row then erupted between the band’s management company ­Modest and Simon, who decided to cut ties with them in 2018.

The dispute saw the girls move to RCA, which released their fifth album, LM5.

Jade — whose spokesman declined to comment on the apparent Simon references on the new single — later revealed the group were then stopped from pushing a message of girl power.

Asked why fans didn’t see much female empowerment in their music videos, Jade added: “We did a little bit but we had a switch of labels during the LM5 process and that really f***ed us over.

"It was harder to put all our creativity out there in the way we would have liked.“

The LM5 album was very heavy on women’s rights and our experiences in the ­industry.”

With ex-bandmates Perrie and Leigh-Anne both dropping new solo tunes imminently, I can’t wait to hear what Jade has to say with her new tracks.

ok so i don’t even know how i stumbled upon your page but i’m a relatively new fan to the 5sos family and i don’t really ship any of the boys buttt i read some of your posts and i can kinda believe lashton. so my first question for you is, do you ship malum and if lashton weren’t real, what other ship would you believe? also, i saw you mentioned them being managed by modest, and as a larry from the 1d fandom, i know all about them. i was wondering if you could explain more on that. thank you!!

I also love to discuss and answer questions, so thank you for your good questions!

If you keep scrolling around and clicking through my hashtags you should eventually find my masterposts, lyrics analysis of a handful of songs, etc etc, and theres the matching rings of only Luke and Ash of which neither have ever worn with any other members, there's only been the brotherhood necklaces. When I first looking into them I let myself remain really really cynical until I started seeing that there were ongoing things, one after the other, that was different than was going on with the other guys. Yes, they're a brotherhood of soulmates but Luke and Ash have this added layer of treating each other. Any particular questions you're not finding an answer to even after looking through my blog, just let me know.

I don't like to refer to my beliefs as shipping, as I see that they're individually closeted, and then there's the added layer of their closeted relationship. The "shipping" that has gone on is what has muddied the waters of people being affectionate and friends vs affectionate and lovers. Vastly different, as you know the same with Larry, and the other closeted relationships that are in 1D. So, therefore, I don't believe any of the other pairings with Luke or Ash have any sort of romantic validity. Could they have experimented or whatever? Sure, none of us would know. But from the evidences, there's nothing to back that up. Cal and Michael knew each other since 2nd? grade, so they've had lots of time to be really bonded and how they've acted with each other has evidences of being boyfriends along the way. No idea if thats currently going on though. I have suspicions of Cal possibly being with Roy (longtime fellow musical artist friend), who lived with him during lockdown. But I won't get into their whole story right now. Thats a lot to cover.

Luke and Ashton are my faves and who I tend to focus on 98% of the time. So regarding Michael/Cal, I'll answer questions in DM if you're really that interested.

They were managed by Modest right out of Australia back when they first started. I'm about to very shortly post a timeline of Lashton and I'm planning to post a relationship of modest/5sos throughout the years. Think of all the tactics that have been used of modest towards the 1D boys, 5sos has a vast amount of the same things. Lots and lots of stunts/bearding (which I could post a lot more about but I try to keep that negative stuff away but I will talk abut should it be something thats specifically asked or is particularly relevant), being overworked, tabloid narratives including trying to force narratives of what/who songs are about (thankfully the boys have fought to control that as much as they are able to). Is there anything specific you're wondering about regarding this topic? Yes, they were treated like crap with them. So much so that during their 10 Year anniversary podcast where they recounted their career, year by year, they never said their name. Not once. They also weirdly left out the story how Luke and Ash actually met, which they've fondly told a handful of times before... it was kinda just breezed past (Wasn't part of the bands story? 🤔 )

earlier today Mark Boardman, who used to work on the XFactor, tweeted tons of information exposing things that happened behind the scenes when he was working there.

he talks about Simon Cowell, Modest Management, mistreatment of contestants (especially One Direction), and about the contracts that contestants had to sign.

I’m confused, Evans was 5SOS day to day manager when they were with Modest. Just as 1D had Kim and Marco as day to day managers. Sometimes you leave a label or management hoping to find something better. 5SOS left Capitol Records (and M!/Ben) after 3 US #1s and then only lasted with Interscope for one album before BMG. Lisa Wolfe, a longtime M! employee recently got a high profile VP position with Range (Jack Harlow). The perception that anyone who worked with M! and 1D is “bad” is unfortunate.

Thanks for putting this on my blog. Modest was a stepping stone for some, and not everyone there worked with 1D or was “evil.”

However, the structure of Modest working with 1D was a very peculiar artist-management relationship, since in that case, management was aligned with the label more so than with the artists. Modest developed 1D’s images according to Sony and Syco’s directives, per the emails we saw. The artists didn’t exactly have a choice, and you see how the images have lingered far past their time in 1D.

Modest and Syco had a working, symbiotic relationship with British tabloid papers that continued far into the hiatus, and in 1D’s case that wasn’t to the artists’ benefit either (unless Louis loved the Sun / Daily Mail headlines).

This is different from Niall’s current relationship with Modest.

Story Idea:

22 year old Gotham University student Danny finds a Damien clone whose near death and saves his life, offering to let the kid stay with him in his crappy apartment. The clone accepts, thinking Danny seems like a tolerable chump to bide his time with as he builds his strength for another fight with his progenitor for his rightful place as heir to Batman. Danny absolutely 100% knows the kid’s a clone and that taps right into his childhood trauma, making him want to protect him all the more. (Up to you if Dani is alive but in my version she’s not). Over time, Clone!Damien becomes begrudgingly fond of his new caretaker, especially after Danny starts taking him on Doctor Who style adventures through time/space and the tamer parts of the GZ (there are none) as part of his efforts to build up the kid’s confidence (outside his overcompensating ego) and help him learn to grow into his own person.

Bonus!

Danny and Clone!Damien are the downstairs neighbors to none other than Jason Peters (aka Jason Todd). They both clock him as Red Hood pretty quickly, but it takes much longer for them to connect him to the Waynes, so he’s kinda just their marginally more normal neighbor who happens to be a crime lord and who, for some reason, tends to check up on them a lot. (Originally this was because RH thought Danny might be an upcoming villain, then because he didn’t understand how Danny was alive, and then Clone!Damien moved in and he started checking to make sure that he didn’t murder Danny in his sleep). Luckily, Jason is a fantastic cook, so they are both grateful (to varying degrees) for his nosiness. (Is this a Dead on Main situation, are they just good friends? Who’s to say? You. Or me. But probably you.)

Liam's interview with impaulsive - I watched the whole thing so you don't have to. He said some stuff about the experience of being in 1D, about being lost himself, and about Zayn. He said some nice stuff about Louis also.

I continue to be concerned about Liam's alcoholism - he talks about being drunk and wasted. He's even day drinking whiskey on the interview. He says he's lost and doesn't know who he is, is just imitating others. That's insightful but sad.

He didn't trash Zayn like Twitter is chirping he did. He did make a low blow reference to the Jake Paul fight where Gigi had tweeted "get yourself a respectful man" and Liam said, that didn't age well, presumably referencing the breakup drama.

But it's not a complete bagging on Zayn. Here's the full quote:

Liam: There's many reasons why I dislike Zayn and there's many reasons while I'll always, always be on his side. If I had had to go through what he went through - through his growth and whatever else - are your parents very supportive?

INT: Very, very.

Liam: My parents are overly supportive to the point where it's annoying sometimes...and Zayn - Zayn had a different upbringing in that sense, and you can always look at the man for where he is and say oh yeah, whatever, that guy's a dick, right? That's a fair thing to say. Sounds like someone establishing healthy boundaries, who does actually care, who gets why it's not simple, and who hopes the other person will be better.

Hi, what year do you think Ash and Luke got together? Like, a rough timeline, specifically. I've seen different people say different things (some say 2014, some 2017/2018, some say it was an on/off thing, etc.) This is not to say that others are wrong in their assumptions; since no one but a few people really know the exact timeline, but just wondering how you see it.

The very very insanely abbreviated answer, imho, is that they were smitten with each other right away. Especially how their meeting was Ash rushing to Luke's rescue from bullies. I think Ash had been watching his YouTube videos then showed up at the gig at the cinema, when Luke and Michael were playing (as "Stuck In Reverse"). Then throughout the years they realized that they really did love each other in that way. But then since they were managed by Modest and subjected to closeting (which is why disagreement about when they got together exists). If you look back at how they were all throughout the years, Ash and Luke were very flirty and affectionate. Sure, they were all affectionate with each other, but something was different between the two of them.

It's difficult also to pinpoint it because they have been on tour so much which counts towards time they are literally sleeping in beds next to each other every night. Remember the keek Ash posted where Luke tells him to get into bed with him, then Ash said he was "going to sleep with... next to Luke" (like there's an actual difference) then gives a cute grin?

I think it definitely got the most intense at the beginning of the creation of Youngblood songwriting trip to Sweden (in 2016/2017) and when they lived together (2017-2018). A portion of the fandom thought they were going to come out when Luke moved in with Ash. Luke got Petunia when he was living with Ash. A few days after they went on social media to announce they were living together (ig live and twitter), the Australian Marriage Equality twitter tweeted at Ash for a follow so that they could send him a DM. Luke and Ash follow that account, along with Luke's mom. Neither Cal nor Michael follow them.

Since then its just been the continuation of Modest pushing through closeting 101 techniques. They made Luke move out and get his own place. Sierra came into the picture (narratively trying to say she calmed him down from his partying ways, which is a total lie since it was during the time he lived with Ash is when that happened. They both had worked on themselves alongside each other.Note: she was an XFactor contestant.) Ash was paired up with Kaykay. Crystal, Michael's other half, has a background in brand strategy/talent management, arranged Ash and Luke with women. Nights out on the town would consist of the girls partying with each other, while the guys were there to give them clout but still be able to be around each other.

All along the way Luke and Ash have tried to fight against things as much as they can. They've gotten more and more serious over time. Luke goes over to Ash's house when he's not having to stunt (take pics/vids with her). This is also why it's added benefit of being on tour. They get to be with each other every day/night. They get to go on shopping trips. (I've looked through so many paparazzi walks and I can't remember when the last time they've been seen publicly out for a walk together. It's usually either of them stunting or Ash with Cal.)

In the end though, love will ultimately win. 🏳️‍🌈 🫶 💕

Here’s the video for the gender reveal, the sun had set but there was no way I was going back and changing the time so I’ve edited the brightness. @pandasamacc did such an amazing job with the animations that I felt they needed to be seen. The guy at the back randomly running to join in also made me giggle, I'll have to do this again for one more pregnancy but with the weather it'll have to be inside.
