10+2 projects, 40 days of madness

I think these barely 40 days in which I FINISHED 10 projects and got an acceptable draft of two more deserve their own masterlist, with how many different fandoms, fanwork types and styles I have been doing - check out the tags for an overview.

(I think it also warrants my updating my general masterlists soon :D )

Harry Potter: Severus Snape / Harry Potter

6) Reconditioning (T, 12.9k): fic by @bintemuhammad, podfic by me My longest podfic so far! In which Harry explodes cauldrons for no apparent reason, not helped by Umbridge's methods of torture disguised as detentions.

Percy Jackson and the Olympians 'verse: Thalia Grace & OC

7) The Lost Gods (G, 12k): fic by hiddendruid, podfic by roseszain and me Slavic mythology meets Percy Jackson verse!

This is how you lose the time war: Blue/Red

8) Poison and Win(?) (filk tto Poison & Wine) with @wilfriede About the final poisoned letter from Red to Blue.

Iliad

9) Proem: Helen, Achilles and the Great War of 1,200 BC (filk tto Prologue from Natasha, Pierre and the Great Comet of 1812), with a whole bunch of amazing people <3 A venerable Greek Poem where everyone got three epithets.

Phantom (Yeston/Kopit)

10) This World Is Mine! (filk tto This Place Is Mine from Yeston/Kopit's Phantom) Crazy Carlotta in Space filk. Listen to this if you want to hear me blow my mic with my high notes.

Bonus: WIPs:

11) Happy Temporality! - A Tesseract in Time, or an Attempt at Adulthood unpublished original fiction in which I pun about my sleeping-on-the-floor excursion back in April. Thank you to @v0lumnius for the titular expression!

12) [untitled mashup] an untitled a cappella mashup of Chim-Chim-Cheree (Mary Poppins), Once Upon a December (Anastasia) and In Noctem (Harry Potter). Makes for haunting Sad Christmas / Little Girl with Matches vibes.

I have never been so productive in my life, at least fandom-wise. I hope y'all don't mind my craziness too much :D Enjoy!

Welcome to the first event!

Now until July 31st!

If you were considering doing something, but were too busy, etc, before or if this is your first time hearing of it, good news: You have a whole other month! (Until the day before the next full moon.)

This will take place between the dates of the next two full moons: June 3rd and July 3rd. (Edit: Now until July 31st!)

June’s is the Strawberry Moon, also called the Rose Moon and the Hot Moon.

July’s is the Buck Moon, also called the Hay Moon, Thunder Moon, Herb/Wyrt Moon, and Claiming Moon.

Depending on the region both are also known as the Mead Moon, hence the name and theme of the event. (The Mead Moon can also refer to the full moon closest to the summer solstice, which is in June most of the time, but is in July this year.)

The summer solstice is June 21st, Midsummer Eve is June 23rd, and Midsummer Day is June 24th.

There are 3 ways to participate: fic, art or playlists involving 3 or more of the 21 prompts:

3s and 7s, self-expression

Frightening, enlightening or fun

Aphrodisiacs can induce

Rules and requirements:

New or unpublished works are accepted for this event. Feel free to combine with other ongoing or upcoming events.

For Writers:

3,000 words minimum using 3 or more of the 21 prompts.

This can be one work or multiple works of at least 1,000 words each. No maximum for word count or amount of works.

For Artists:

Use 3 or more of the prompts to create visuals (drawings, gifsets, manips, vids/edits, moodboards, etc.) Can be one work or multiple.

For Mixers:

There are 2 options for standalone fanmixes:

Use 3-7 prompts to make a playlist of 21 tracks. At least 3 tracks per prompt used. (For example: A playlist with 4 prompts — 5 songs for Rose, 7 songs for Full Moon, 3 songs for Thunder, and 6 songs for Altered Reality.) Arrange them however you like: all grouped together in segments, whatever flows best, randomly, etc.

Make a playlist of 21 songs with 1 song for every prompt in any order.

If you’re attaching a playlist to a fanfic or art post:

Do whatever you want, but you get extra cool points for 21 tracks and including 1 or more songs for every prompt that you use and/or 3 songs for at least one prompt.

Put your playlists on Spotify, YouTube or both so I can listen to them. 😉

Content:

This is an event for fans of Sterek, but it’s Sterek & Stuff for a reason. I’m a multishipper and some of you might be too, so the deal is if you pay the Sterek Toll you can do other Teen Wolf ships (or pre-ships and gen) in separate works in your series should you desire.

The Sterek Toll is:

At least 2 prompts and 1,000 words of Sterek for writers.

At least 2 prompts and 1 piece of art for artists.

Music is generally up to interpretation so unless you go out of your way to say it’s not for Sterek don’t worry about it, lol. But if mixers want a toll too then it’s 2-7 prompts and a 14 track playlist.

All Sterek all the time is of course always welcome and there will be a Sterek Only subcollection on AO3 and separate Sterek and NonSterek posts on Tumblr. (Assuming anyone does NonSterek, lol.)

To count as a Sterek fanfic Stiles and Derek have to be together by the end of the work. The story should focus on them, but feel free to include other characters too.

Sterek Plus and Sterek Poly go in the other ships category and is subject to the Sterek Toll.

Allowed:

Any background ship.

Crossovers as long as the focus is on Sterek (or other TW characters if you’ve paid the Sterek Toll.)

Angst, whump, and dark themes as long as the story (the last related work if it's part of a series) ends on an upbeat or hopeful note and there’s nothing from the Nope section.

Nope:

No permanent death of Stiles or Derek. If you’re doing a series in the same setting they both have to be alive and together (or have the possibility of being together in the future) in the last related work. This applies to other TW works too. (No permanently killing off whoever is in any other main ship either.)

No miserable, tragic endings. Everything doesn’t have to be perfect and happily ever after, but the last related work should at least have a hopeful or “we’ll make the best of this shit” ending for Stiles and Derek (or other main ship.)

No explicit descriptions or depictions of sexual activity under 16. (Kissing, dating, references or vague descriptions are okay.)

No bestiality. (As in regular animals. Xeno /Tera with beta or full shifted Derek, Stiles, etc, is okay.)

No scat.

No death or gore fetishes. (As in rotting corpses and gaping wounds and stuff. Bloodplay is okay.)

No Real Person Fiction.

Make sure to tag accurately!

Posting:

The event starts at 5:30am PDT (12:30pm GMT) on June 3rd so please don’t post before then.

Now officially ending at 11:59pm PDT on July 31st (6:59am GMT on August 1st,) but late posting accepted.

On Tumblr:

Tag your work here with #mead moons and #mead moons (prompt) for each prompt that you use. (Ex: #mead moons fae.) At @sterek-and-stuff-events.

If you’re doing multiple works put links to the previous works in each new post. The requirements (3 prompts, 3,000 words for writers, etc) have to be met by the end of the event.

7. Shortest fic you've written (published or not)?

Ooh, okay, I had to actively go back and check this one. Unpublished, so I can't promise this will stay the shortest, but right now it's a little Fallout 4 blurb I wrote that's part of a larger series, clocking in at around 173!!

10. Story Moodboard of choice (either you or author picks the story; author makes).

Okay, this was a little tough, but I think it's... fine? Here's hoping?? But, yeah, continuing the Fallout trend, the story (Working Title: The Medic and The Sociopath) is my take on a Fallout 4 run through with both Nate and Nora surviving. I have a few drabbles written down that I'm thinking of publishing soon(...-ish) but right now I'm just having fun with it!! (it's actually where my shortest fic came from!)

Hello! Honestly listening to this makes my day. Thank you very much ❤️ December is always such a hard time for me because of the end of school year and when I finally had time and thought “gonna write so much now!” I got this massive block 😞 but I’m working my way around it. Knowing that people like it make me even more excited to write really.

I HAVE a Kathony Ballet AU!

It doesn’t have a name yet but I made a Moodboard after watching one of my sister’s presentations last December (she’s a professional dancer, not ballet tho)

“Kate Sharma danced in many professional companies across from Europe until an invitation to dance for Aubrey Hall Ballet Company brings her back home. But nothing good comes easy and she’ll have to come head to head with Anthony Bridgerton, once one of the biggest starts of the modern ballet world, now a harsh, demanding, frustrating choreographer after a knee injury removed him from the dance scene. He definitively wont make her life easy. Neither will the explosive tension between them. But it’s alright, two can play this game.”

I have 6 WIPS, 2 one-shot series and a bunch of random One-shots plus the prompts you guys send me here on Tumblr (I promise I see them all and they are all being worked on or thought about very carefully and with a lot of love) that I am currently working on, some more than others.

Of course You Belong With Me is right now my primary focus (together with the Christmas one-shot) and I love them very much.

My Bodyguard x Princess AU, Of Noble Blood, is always very near and dear to my heart and I have about three chapters of it ready (unfortunately the first one if not one of them but I’m close to finishing it… eventually)

There is also Baby Mine that WILL BE FINISHED I PROMISE.

My Rockstar x Personal Assistant, I Found You (Now Everything is Music) is there staring at me waiting for me to go back to the five written paragraphs I have of it. Along with Lost, Drifting, my Memory Loss World War I AU that has the first chapter ready then I got stuck halfway through chapter II and now it’s there judging me every time I start a new WIP.

My one shot series, True Colours, my soulmates AU is my huge huge baby and I love it SO MUCH and it’s there, I desperately want to get it done but every time I open one of the docs nothing comes out. All chapters have cute names and I started like 5 of them with varying degrees of success. The other, the Book Swap one, I’m currently working on the first One-Shot that will be called The Viscount and I and I’m sure you can get where I’m going with this.

Most of them have moodboards bc I have so much fun making them and You Belong with Me and Of Noble Blood even have like a STRUCTURE, like I know how many chapters will be and what will happen in each of them (I am absolutely not a planner and this is actually a first for me yay. Most of my writing docs is just a jumbled up mess of parts that somehow I manage to work together into a story and given moment. I do not write linearly so when an idea comes I just skip some lines and write a completely different scene. My head is a mess, forgive me lol)

I think I posted most of my moodboards with the summaries, but if you can’t find them I can post them again for you 😊

Hanukkah: the Jewish festival of lights. Eight crazy nights of latkes, dreidels, and presents, right? Well, yes, but Hanukkah is so much more. A chance to reconnect with your heritage. The warmth of candlelight against the cold. A glimmer of light in the darkness of winter.

Do you have an AO3 collection?

Yes! Our AO3 collection can be found here. The collection is currently open and will remain so.

Do my fanworks have to be explicitly about Hanukkah? What do I do if I’m writing for a secondary world fandom?

Your fanworks can be about Hanukkah or just inspired by it! For example, a couple years ago, our mod Jane-Ways wrote a Silmarillion fic where elves celebrate a holiday similar to Hanukkah, since there’s no Judaism in J.R.R. Tolkien’s history of Middle-earth. She also wrote a series of drabbles inspired by Hanukkah prompts, but not explicitly about Hanukkah. So really, anything goes!

Do I have to be Jewish to make fanworks for Festival of Lights?

No, you don’t need to be Jewish! If you aren’t Jewish but you’d like to, for example, write a fic about Spock and Kirk celebrating Hanukkah together, go for it! But we suggest that if you’re unfamiliar with Jewish culture and/or Hanukkah celebrations, you should check out our Resources page to familiarize yourself.

What types of works and/or fanworks do you accept?

We welcome all sorts of works: fiction, art, playlists, moodboards—whatever our prompts inspire! And there’s no minimum wordcount or effort involved. Both fanworks and original works inspired by the prompts are welcome.

Are there any deadlines?

Nope! The collection is open indefinitely. There aren't any rules for prompts needing to be posted on a particular day or in any specific order, either.

I previously wrote a piece that I think would work well for this. Can I submit it to the collection?

We welcome any previously unpublished work that's inspired by or fits thematically with our prompts. If that sounds like your work, we'd love to see it!

End of the Year Review

1. What fandoms did you create for?

Hetalia.

2. How many works did you make this year? Fics (posted on ao3 or tumblr or wherever), edits, gifsets, moodboards, playlists, fanart, vids, meta?

I don't think my historical musings for Hetalia AUs or Scenarios don't count as meta. Apparently I've added 4 new drabbles to the Drabble Collection, finished the last two drabbles for 'Tis but a scratch, published the last chapter and Epilogue of Italian Affairs, a new chapter for Herz auf Beat on Fanfiktion.de and published 7 One Shots (6 on ao3, 1 on tumblr). I've also wrote another TurGre One Shot and another part for The Amulet that are unpublished as of now.

3. What are you most proud of?

Finishing Italian Affairs and Part 4 of The Amulet (The Amulet is not yet published). I've been working on Italian Affairs since 2015 and to have finished it is a sensation that is quite hard to put into words. I've often been afraid I'd never see the day. It's such an achievement. And Part 4 of The Amulet, a story I've been writing and editing since 2017, was another thing I'd fuck up. But it turned out so incredible and gutwrenching that it really reminds me why I write and why I put so much work into it.

4. Any stats you wanna tell us about?

Between Me and the Goddess (and You) has a bibliography of 5 books :) (No but for real, I can't remember how many words I wrote this year or anything else).

5. What inspired you this year? Any specific works or creators?

I feel so bad answering this question because everyone else linked a bunch of people and their fanfictions (and I was among them), but there was only one fanfiction that truly inspired me. The İstanbul series by sadlygrove touched me deeply for personal reasons and it was so formative for how I approached the climax of The Amulet. It really put into words why this relationship is such a tragedy.

Aside from that, my inspirations were the usual - The world, its history and music. Maggie Kilgour's book "From Communion to Cannibalism. An Anatomy of Metaphors of Incorporation" really opened a third eye in terms of how to analyze and speak about my Like Father Like Son Series. Actually - I won't tag this person but you should check them out - it was @/catilinas cannibalism tag (Upon what meat doth this our Caesar feed) that started the entire obsession with cannibalism as both tool for writing and tool for literature analysis. Truly inspiring - and now rereading my stuff is even more interesting, for all the unconscious Incorporation themes I've already included in my works throughout the years.

So yeah, I've used my term paper, which I wrote about the Bath curse tablets, for one drabble and I've read a lot of literature which left its mark on me. As did my trip to Palermo.

However, I do want to thank everyone who read my works this year, because it's still bonkers to me. @needcake (One day I will get around to read more of your stuff and maybe, maybe deliver some more neighbourhood AU), @shithole-state (I know I promised to get back to you on the ancient celts, sometime, my friend, hopefully), @fireandiceland @hetaari @kitaychan @i-declare-the-poland-rule @cunchishai @exi-stencil-ism @chaosintensifies.

I'm probably forgetting someone and I am very sorry for it. But it's so nice to see that people care! I feel almost bad that now I am already turning my back on producing content specifically for the fandom, when everyone welcomed be back in so wonderfully! But it's been great to meet you all and talk to you about certain things, about my writing and see someone else's perspective! If you ever left me a comment, trust me, it was the highlight of my day.

6. What’s a piece you didn’t expect to make? Why?

No Rest For The Wicked, because the the premise for this one was whacky as all hell for my standards (aka it felt super self-indulgent in its character selection) with a paperflimsy plot. But then I felt like going for it anyways, took a gamble ... and hey, other people liked it! And I've had one hell of a blast to write the different character relations in it, I'm very proud of the interactions and the piece actually helped me grow as a writer. (And I got to listen to Shimmy Shimmy by Takagi e Ketra ft. Giusy Ferreri on repeat for hours).

7. What are you excited to work on next year?

I really hope I'll get started on the rewrite of Irish Problems. Priority No. 1 right now is the last chapter of Herz auf Beat, which I also look forward to! As well as Part 5 of The Amulet, which then will also be finished! But man, I've got so many ideas for the rewrite of Irish Problems. I'm so excited to finally tell the story I've wanted to tell for years now. Like Father Like Son has been my life since at least 2014 (I started in 2013), so that's eight years I spent with these kids and their friends (and enemies). I just cannot wait to lay the groundwork for so many more adventures to come, for a complex but fun story with so many more characters. And to talk with people about the rewrite! The blessing of 2021 was that people read my stuff and finally, after years of isolation, I have more than three people with who to talk about my writing! It's quite freeing and thoroughly magical.

Teen Wolf, but i do have a few unpublished fics written in other fandoms.

how many works did you make (fics, edits, moodboards, etc)?

Oh god… give me a sec… 58 fics published (61 originally but I unpublished some fics of a series i wanna redo), 18 fanart, once again published, 60 fanworks as in edits, moodboards, picsets, gifset (only one of that), shitposty content, etc etc. bro i just keep making things.

what are you most proud of?

Hmmmmm.. Probably the scackson 6k smut thing in my docs, because the sheer amount of work i put in finishing the first draft of it in 2021 for 3 months straight (oct-dec) says something about me.

any stats you want to share?

Well, stats are that im a pure content farm because 139 complete fanworks of all kind in a year sounds fine but when i say that its a year where i had 4 months of continuous exams, grade school graduation and getting into uni in a course that is a’level (advanced level) science when i didnt even learn o’level (ordinary level) science in school, it sounds wild.

what inspired you?

Sheer willpower and raging flame of love for my ships. And mutuals and friends I found along the way. Oh and because when i want [insert very specific plot arc story fic thing] i have to make [said specific plot arc story fic thing] so i roll up my sleeves and do just that.

what did you not think you’d create? why?

I dont know to be honest because i dont set expectations for myself or expectations that expect me to not make a specific thing. I did not expect spending the last few months of 2021 writing a scackson self indulgent 6k smut thing. Nor did i actually think it’d snowball into something big, i just wanted to get out of a writing block by writing some smut.

what are you most looking forward to for next year?

In fandom sense: writing more fics, making more art (once my comp is fixed because im having a withdrawal from not being able to draw digitally, the symptoms are drawing cowboys nonstop on a cheap sketchbook), ooo and i hope to write another long fic! Preferably more than 15k. But something big, yknow, more than 10k words

In non-fandom sense: im looking forward to starting my bachelors degree in the later half of this year!

i've been in many fandoms, but never written for any of them. i usually just write poetry lol

2. what fandoms are you currently writing for? only bts! i have considered maybe branching out into got7 fic 👀

3. how long have you been writing? The Library of Our Love was my first finished piece, and it was published in March!

4. on which platforms do you post your stories? just Tumblr! i have an AO3 (@triviafics) but there's nothing on there rn.

5. what is your favourite genre to write? i like angst lol... don't ask why i think i just like to make myself and readers sad.

6. are you a pantser or a planner? every single thing i've written has been 100% fly by the seat of my pants style.

7. one shot or multi-chapter? both! i tend to like to read long oneshots and then drabble series, so they both have their benefits for the type of story that needs to be told.

8. what is the perfect chapter length in your opinion? when the story for that chapter has been told.

9. what is your longest published story? is it complete?

10. which story did you enjoy working on the most? i have a soft spot for everything that i've written, mainly because of how much i treasure the way readers react to it. you guys are the best! personally though, TLOL was really cathartic for me to write because it was based on my first real heartbreak and it helped me come to peace with the situation.

11. favourite request you’ve have written and why (if any?) i haven't written requests yet (i don't like feeling pressured to come up with things on the spot), but Sophie (@sunshinekims) gave me an idea for a lil something that i think I'll write once I'm done with boards.

12. are there reoccurring themes in your stories? i like to write stories about love that aren't love stories, angst with happy endings (there's always a silver lining, even if it's not what you may think), pining... masive amounts of pining.

13. current number of wips? literally, 0 bc i don't consider something a wip unless i have it down on paper. but 1284843929568 ideas live in my head constantly.

14. three things you have noticed about your own writing? 1) i like to focus on the member's development as much as the OC's 2) writing long stories is hard... i greatly admire anyone who can write above 10k words. 3) i write very spontaneously and jump around from story to story a lot.

What fandom(s) do you write for?

I write for NCT, but I have written for Harry Potter in the past

When did you post your first piece?

Around the empathy era I’m pretty sure, 2018? I used to do moodboards only but I was inspired by other writers to give it a go

Do you write fluff/angst/crack/general/smut, combo, etc? Why?

I find that I stick to the fluff/angst tropes because they’re easier to formulate because I can relate myself to the scenario more. I also find that its also more interesting to write angst because there's complications to a story that take longer to form and you have to really think about the different emotions the characters are feeling.

Do you write OCs, X Readers, Ships...etc?

I write x reader mostly, but at some point in the future I’m thinking of writing an OC purely because the concept I want to focus on has a particular emphasis on name and I don’t think it would work with y/n

Why did you start writing on Tumblr?

I used to use Wattpad but it was very difficult to promote myself and I struggled to meet anyone through it. On tumblr it was much easier to orientate and the community was so much nicer.

What inspires you to write?

My mutuals! And other writers on tumblr, everyone is so supportive and kind it’s amazing. Also the feedback I sometimes get from readers, it makes me really happy whenever I get a comment or someone interacts with a piece I enjoyed writing, or alternatively when someone supports a fic I wasn’t confident in as it really boosts my confidence :)

What genres/AUs do you enjoy writing the most?

School/ College aus because they’re very familiar and I am confident in getting the tropes and ideas right. But I also like works inspired by movies or songs because there’s so much to work from and it’s nice to see where you can take the plot and lyrics in your own story.

What do you hope your readers take away from your work?

That writing is for everyone, honestly at the end of the day I’m just a kid in my room writing stories about artists I’m a really big fan of. If you want to write you can, and you don’t have to necessarily be a “big” blog or writer to do it.

What do you do when you hit a rough spot creatively?

Take a break, that’s my first port of call - usually in the method of food or I look at the inspiration material again, I listen to the song, read the lyrics, consult my friends and mutuals for help. It’s always good to be able to put something down to start again later when you’re struck with inspiration

What is your favorite work and why? Your most successful?

My favourite personally at the moment (since one I really like is currently, as of answering this question, unpublished) is ‘Remember Me’ purely because it was the work I was the most passionate about writing and it really let me explore a new field of writing, since a lot of my stuff had been fluff before. My most successful in terms of notes is my Mark one shot ‘Sugar and Spice’ and I’m very proud of it.

Who is your favorite person to write about?

Park Jisung, my ult bias, I have to convince myself to write for other members sometimes as I often resist the urge to be a Jisung blog. However I have been enjoying writing for Mark and Hendery recently, as my other NCT biases

Do you think there’s a difference between writing fanfiction vs. completely original prose?

To a certain extent yes, it really depends on the writer. For many fanfiction stories, including ones we may label “cliche” the only difference is who it’s about, there are countless amazing fics I’ve read which I would assume could be made into a novel, the only thing making it fanfiction being the characters themselves.

What do you think makes a good story?

Feeling! There’s nothing that really constitutes a “good story” as it��s all subjective, but if you can read a story and feel what the characters feel, or even just see the emotions the writer is trying to portray then it’s definitely a good story. I’ve cried while reading most of, if not all my favourite stories.

What is your writing process like?

I plan first in a little notebook so I don’t forget any of my ideas or plans and then I try to churn it out whenever I have access to my computer, my speaker and a comfortable blanket. I like to “get in the zone” and then write as much as I possibly can. I usually think of ideas as I write so the notebook helps me put them in order and make sure I don’t get too ahead of myself.

Would you ever repurpose a fic into a completely original story?

I have thought about it and honestly, I’m not sure. My fics are not series’ and they’re all very short - most of them under 4k so I’d have to turn the idea into a full length thing you know? But I have thought about doing the opposite with a very old original story of mine I’ve otherwise given up on but still holds a special place in my heart.

What tropes do you love, and what tropes can’t you stand?

I am a sucker for the enemies to lovers trope mainly because the character development in these stories can be so much more interesting and complex. On the other hand I’m not fond of “yandere” type fics, however I have read several well written ones which I cannot speak against because they were actually really good.

How much would you say audience feedback/engagement means to you?

I’d say a lot, in terms of how much I write feedback means a lot to me - it’s also nice to hear what people think of things you’ve written because it’s a different view from your own and sometimes can boost confidence. I am also open to constructive criticism if any writers have any tips or suggestions for future works I’m always open to listen.

What has been one of the biggest factors of your success (of any size)?

When I see anyone interacting with my work it’s really rewarding and I love when people reblog with custom tags because it lets me know that people actually like what I do and to me, that’s a success.

Stopping time because there’s so much you can do - except the question is, would I continue to age even if time has stopped?

My mind goes to two extremes, I think either ancient Greece because why not and the 1950’s purely for fashion and music.

If you could restart your life, knowing what you do now, would you?

No, but I think if I could restart specific moments I would. There are so many good moments but some things you don’t want to relive even if you can change the outcome.

Would you rather fight 100 chicken-sized horses or one horse-sized chicken?

100 chicken sized horses, I’d be terrified of a horse sized chicken it would probably be able to eat me and I’m not about that life, tiny horses I can deal with. Kill them with Kindness or whatever haha.

If you were a trope in a teen high school movie, what would you have been?

A mix of quiet teachers pet and loud side character friend. The duality kills me, I can be shouting with my friends one minute but whispering the minute the teacher asks me a question.

Do you believe in aliens/supernatural creatures?

I’d like to, I think some are really cool and it would be amazing to live among them, but also some are dangerous, but I would love to see or meet some creatures. Imagine living with dragons man that would be epic.

What are some of your favorite hobbies and how did you get into them?

I really like reading, courtesy of Harry Potter, but I also enjoy singing and playing the piano which I started doing more often in secondary school when my piano teacher suggested I started to sing as well :)

Fun fact about yourself that not everyone would know?

I did Karate for about 10/11 years, and I’m a black belt *insert awkward smile here*

Do you think fanfic writers get unfairly judged?

A lot of the time yes, there is a stigma around fanfiction and often paints us in a negative light but we just happen to be a community of creative fans who want to share and support the people we write about. But I can see where the stigma comes from, sometimes it can be taken a bit far and I am aware that some things make the artists themselves uncomfortable. I think if people who judge fanfiction are referring to it as a single idea it becomes unfair because it is all different, but I also think that writers of fanfiction themselves have to make sure they don’t cross any boundaries when writing that could make readers or the artist (if they ever happened to stumble across your work) uncomfortable.

Do you think art can be a medium for change?

Yes in some ways of course. Art is not only a way to express what the creator themselves is feeling but it is also a way to teach others about issues, prejudices and ideals. For literature specifically it allows you into the shoes of another person you may not have understood before, in art pieces there’s a clear message and encourages people to educate themselves on certain issues which in turn makes room for change.

Do you ever feel there are times when you’re writing for others, rather than yourself?

Sometimes if i’ve been suggested or requested to write something because it isn’t an idea that comes for me but mainly if I am aware that someone is waiting for a fic or someone has said they’re anticipating it I feel like I’m writing for others, but I don’t particularly mind it because it almost encourages me to write to a better standard.

Do you ever feel like people have misunderstood you or your writing at times?

Not particularly, I'm often as clear as I can be when portraying meaning, or I will straight up say it in a different thread or to different people because I can’t keep secrets and I’m a sucker for a spoiler. Although I am constantly worried about the way I come off in messages and things like that - I am a terrible overthinker.

Do your offline friends/loved ones know you write for Tumblr?

A few of my closest friends and other kpop stans I am friends with irl are aware of my blog and support me as much as they can with what little information I give them. I think only one of my irls has my url because she reads and I send her my binge reviews when I do them.

What is one thing you wish you could tell your followers?

Thank you so much, honestly it’s cheesy but without them I don’t know where my blog would be. The amount of them surprises me everyday and I don’t think I believe it half the time. Also if anyone ever needs help or support or just wants a chat I’m open, its 100% likely that if you interact with me or my posts on the regular then I will recognise you when you come say hi, I’m not that scary I promise.

Do you have any advice for aspiring writers who might be too scared to put themselves out there?

Just do it! It’s better to get your stuff out there and circulating to get a better idea of what people like and where your strong suit is, the more you put out the more you grow. But if you’re scared, talk to other creators, we’re always open to help and we can let you know what to do, it was something that helped me out :)

Are there any times when you regret joining Tumblr?

When I first started there was a lot of struggle with me trying to figure out my style and what I wanted to do, and it was a learning curve of what can I do, what should I avoid and who am I doing this for. Sometimes when I’m really down I will question why I do it, but I never regret it because it has allowed me to make some wonderful friends and be exposed to some amazing creations and get more into something I’ve always liked doing, writing.

Do you have any mutuals who have been particularly formative/supportive in your Tumblr journey?

I don’t want this to be too long, but I feel like it could be. I’ve met so many wonderful people and I love all of them so much, but in terms of being formative and supportive these are some of the people I talk to the most. @renjunwrites - I am a huge fan of Denise and to even be able to be in conversation with her about the stuff she writes is mindblowing to me, @nanasarea - nana was one of the first people I spoke to (before I joined discord) and was really accepting of my antics from day one. @glossyjaems - me and Louna have become very close recently and I can’t wait for our project to launch, keep an eye out for that. @mjlkau Anie is really one of the biggest supporters I have, always willing to read what I send her and give me support and love. There’s so many more people I’d love to mention but this would go on forever, to anyone ever involved in my writing process I’m thinking of you as I write this and I love you all (I feel really bad not talking about every single one omg).

Rules & Guidelines

Every participant will commit to creating at least one fanwork of their choice within the time frame given. Fanfiction, fanart, graphics/edits, gifsets, playlists/mixes, videos will all be accepted for this fanwork fest.

Your fanwork must be original, created by you for this event. It may be an already in-progress work, but it must be unpublished on Tumblr, AO3, or similar site.

Every fanwork must be about both Niall Breslin and Niall Horan. The relationship dynamics are up to the participant: romantic, platonic, complicated, etc. Polyamorous ships are welcome as long as Bressie and Niall remain the central focus of the fanwork.

Sign up and posting deadlines close at 11:59 PM Baker Island time (HAST). Please message this blog, @bressieniall, or @fuckyeahnessie for an extension.

Requirements

Fic: 2,000 word minimum, beta read. Can be a series of drabbles, or part of an existing series as long as previous parts are linked in the post.

Fanart: Can be digital or traditional. Images should fit Tumblr photoset sizes: 540, 268, or 177 pixels wide.

Graphics, Edits, or Gifs: All images must have a visible alteration – whether it’s coloring, manipulation, blending, textures, words, cropping, etc. Images should fit Tumblr photoset sizes: 540, 268, or 177 pixels wide.

Please do not recolor/alter edits or gifs made by other people. Image creations must be your own work.

Playlists or Mixes: At least 7 songs. We’ll be accepting playlist hosting on every site including Youtube and Spotify.

The only requirement for bonus works is that you submit a finished creation in accordance with the above guidelines before submitting your bonus work.
