Hi! Can I ask for a request similar to this but instead the reader thinks the characters are just joking? I deal with a lot of relationship insecurity, especially when it comes to confessions, so like maybe a little angst with a fluffy ending.

With the characters Vil, Rook, Lilia, Riddle, Leona if that's alright (plus anyone else you want to add! I also don't mind if you want to remove one of them, or if you don't want to accept the request! Have a good day 🖤)

'...Vil, it's not funny. Why would you joke about something like that?'

Vil was completely smitten for you, and to have someone like HIM with insanely high standards for EVERYTHING down bad then that says a lot about you as a person.

It didn't take him too long to notice how you lacked confidence — normally, he wouldn't care. But we are talking about you, so he constantly tries to help you in a very Vil way.

He was very meticulous when it was about you, Vil has been planning his confession for quite a while now. As you know, he's quite the perfectionist kind of guy; Vil has every single thing planned to the smallest detail.

It's a fool-proof plan, of course after weeks and weeks trying to pursue you romantically he HAS to make it all worth it.

Of course there's a problem he wasn't considering; Vil knows you like him back, he figured it out rather quickly. However, that was not the problem — he was missing a detail.

He had planned out EVERYTHING and with that I Mean EVERYTHING, even what he would say if you rejected him (Vil thought that maybe even if you reciprocate his feelings you might not feel comfortable with him being a celebrity, something he wouldn't be mad at you for.) but your actual answer to his confession left him speechless.

I think both of you have quite a misunderstanding here.

Did he misinterpret your entire relationship? He's now overthinking. Vil was so sure that you liked him back. Did he completely mess up?

'My dear, I'm not… I'm not joking. Why would you even assume that I would make such a distasteful joke like that in the first place?'

'You… You can't be serious, right? Why would you… like me back…'

It's insanely hard to catch Rook's attention, contrary to what most people might think.

He's the self-proclaimed hunter of love, someone who's constantly seeking beauty to admire and love. Yet… that's the same reason why he feels as if he can't experience romantic love.

He's had a few crushes here and there, but nobody fully catches his eyes — nobody, until you appeared.

Rook fully believes you're the most beautiful person he's ever seen… Not only physically. Every single part about you feels so foreign to him that Rook just wants to know more and more!...

But you don't seem to acknowledge how beautiful you are, that's ok! He'll tell you all the time how wonderful you are, no matter how much you struggle to believe him, his words are nothing but pure honesty. Just thinking about you makes his heart weak, always lowering his guard as if your presence alone was able to protect him from any danger, just what are you doing to him?

Rook loves the chase, so when he gets impatient and decides it's time to confess then that means he's completely serious about this.

He's not meticulous as Vil is when planning a confession — after all, he wants it to be natural. That doesn't mean he isn't saving a few hundreds of poems about his undying love for you.

It isn't hard for him to express his love for you, since he seems to be thinking about his emotions for such a huge amount of time he's struggling to focus!

Rook was waiting for the perfect moment to confess, a moment so intimate between the two of you that felt right. Like Vil, he was quite confident and knew that you liked him back beforehand.

However, he has also noticed that you sometimes reject his compliments, something that leaves him worried all the time. He seems to be slightly stressed on a daily basis because of this, even Vil noticed his sudden change.

When he hears your response, you can see the way his usual smile falters for a second — it's almost unnoticeable. It's not unexpected, but oh, how he wished to hug you tightly and tell you how wrong you were about yourself.

Ah, how he desires you to think of yourself as highly as he does, he tries his best to hide how upset he is — not with you, but whoever made you feel as if you couldn't trust his words.

'Why wouldn't I like you..? Ah, dear Trickster, there's nothing about you I could ever dislike!'

'Ah… you're not serious, right? I don't like it when you flirt with me as a joke…'

You're right in a way, Lilia enjoys flirting for fun. Asking someone on a date just to see their reaction and maybe get to know them better. His feelings are somewhat fleeting.

He used to flirt with you because he liked your reactions, something about you always felt so refreshing… Is it perhaps the fact that you view his world in an entirely different way? Maybe you're just a normal human who just happens to be attractive to him. Either way, being with you felt different.

And it was confusing for him, Lilia knows his position as an old fae and A Single Father, which makes things complicated, let alone the fact that you two are from entirely different species (which was never a problem to begin with, however, it might inconvenience you in the future if your relationship lasted long enough)

He has been in love a few times before in his life, he's been afraid of being in love too; but that gave him a fair amount of regrets, regrets that he's not willing to either let go of or repeat.

He decided to court you as soon as possible, but his advances are somewhat… odd, expected from a man like Lilia. You usually didn't even realize what he was trying to do and if you did, you played it off as if it was a joke. Silver had to deal with his father whining about you being 'too oblivious to realize his clear and totally obvious advances' way too many times, poor guy.

Deep down… He knew it was something else, Lilia acted as if it was just you… being oblivious, nothing more. However, he's pretty good at reading people— the old fae had a very clear idea of what was going on. Which is why when he decided to stop playing around and officially ask you out, your response did not surprise him in the slightest.

'Ah, my dear.. You wound my heart. I've been trying to let you know of my feelings in a subtle manner, but you always played it off as a mere jest. What can I do to earn your trust?'

a mizu x akemi fic inspired by this post !!

warnings: (non-visual) depiction of vomiting, thoughts of cheating

contains/tags: hanahaki disease, akemi's pov, hopeless lesbians, flower shop au, taigen gets fucked over but it's fine he'll live, no beta we die like men

a/n: once more to see you by mitski for extra brainrot

akemi didn't want to believe it when the first flower came. or rather, the first petal. it was a dainty thing, pale pink in the porcelain of the bathtub. she had cried for at least an hour, holding the pathetic little petal in her hands, pondering why this had to happen to her now, when she'd just gotten engaged to who she thought was the love of her life. and why it has to be because of her, nonetheless.

when mizu begins working at akemi's flower shop, they seem to get along well, like a house on fire. mizu is everything akemi isn't, and it's a good focal point for conversations when work feels slow. mizu is nothing akemi has ever seen before, and it gives her a sense of allurement, something about her that seems to attract people to her like moths to a flame.

she was tall, for a start, taller than akemi, almost as tall as taigen. and her eyes, oh her eyes. a shade of blue that doesn't appear in nature except to warn one of danger, and if anything it makes her even more attractive. she had intricately inked arms and her tongue flashed when she spoke, a glimpse of silver against the pink of her tongue. her hair, black as ink, was always tied into a bun, but that single curl that fell over her left eye proved to be fatal. she was so insanely gorgeous, it made akemi feel sick. it filled her with a saccharine ache in her stomach, like she'd been drinking pure sugar syrup all her life and it was finally catching up to her.

what was worse was that she made working so frustratingly fun. akemi had always been happy with her job, but she thought it rather monotonous. then mizu comes along, and makes her laugh constantly and actually enjoy her job more than she thought possible, and it feels unnatural. it's not something she's used to, and mizu makes things so.. nice. she looks at akemi with those gorgeous blue eyes and laughs her beautiful laugh and everything disappears, if only for a minute. and she goes home to taigen and talks to him about all the conversations they have, and he's proud of her for making a friend. and she goes to sleep, guilt pooling in her stomach as she's held by the man she's supposed to love more than anything. and mizu has taken that away from her. but god, the way she makes akemi feel is heavenly.

and so this goes on for a week or two, and everything is perfectly okay everywhere but akemi's mind. she's frantic, trying to choose between this woman and the man she's quite literally engaged to. and nobody has an inkling of what's happening because all the while she smiles. she smiles her pretty delicate grin, and she keeps going because what else do you do? for months, she smiles. until the petals start to fall out of her mouth every morning. she is startled, naturally. she spews up these petals and she holds them in her delicate hands, tears spilling from her delicate eyes. she can't entirely tell what kinds of petals they are, but she doesn't really care.

soon enough the petals turn to flowers and the tears dry up as this becomes the norm. except one thing is obvious. the flowers are mizu's. sure, it's bad enough she's vomiting flowers, but it's worse that these same flowers appear in her coworker's arrangements, the same coworker she's been silently yearning for for months. and with these flowers is blood. a lot. and it hurts. it stains her hands and her clothes and it stains her purity, the porcelain of the bathtub turning red the more she spews these horrible things from her lying mouth. and she feels sick, constantly. there's a weight in her body like a secret that she'd be killed for spilling, and she wants nothing more than for it to disappear. and with mizu, it does. she spends her shifts laughing and she feels weightless. until she leaves.

she keeps the flowers, piling them into empty jewellery and shoe boxes and piling them up in her closet, away from everybody else. she is embarrassed, she hates herself for her feelings and her selfishness. eventually, after months and months of this endless illness, she feels the heaviness of these flowers in her chest, clogging up her heart, growing inside the shell of her body, and she can't take it. she leaves her job, she locks herself away and she spends her time in her bathtub, weak and blossoming in the dim light of the candles she surrounds herself with.

if she's going to rot, she has to at least smell nice.

my season five dream team ups bc i'm bored and have too much time on my hands

1. will/mike/robin/nancy

this group is literally what dreams are made of. first, you get a continuation with the ultimate slow burn that is byler. second, you get ronance which is always a plus & possibly a jealous nancy when vickie is added into the mix. third, you get nancy/mike sibling bonding for the first time in what feels like forever. and fourth, you get a will/robin "you're like me" moment. the power this group holds would be magical.

Give me a frightened & an adorably idiotic Will who is seeing visions and clocks but doesn't want to worry anyone so he keeps it to himself because everybody else already has so much going on. Let him space out at the Wheeler house only to be caught by Nancy.

Then it proceeds with Will begging her not to tell anybody but Nancy snitches to Mike because she knows the drill and is not letting another kid die on her watch. And since she's avoiding both Jonathan and Steve because she wants to know who she is outside of them, she ropes Robin in to help instead, leading to a limitless amount of gayness <3 (bc as much as i am excited to learn about vickie, i don't really have the desire to see robin with her clone).

Give me a terrified Mike who's scared to lose Will and is angry because Will actually wanted to keep him in the dark about this. Give me the most queer fight in tv history:

"i can't believe you weren't going to tell me this. this isn't a game-- you could die, will! just because you got out once, doesn't mean you'll make it out alive this time around!"

"you aren't even trying to see my side of things! if I have a connection to vecna then that gives me the perfect opening to end this once and for all!"

"there is no ending this, will! he's going to kill you!"

"that's a risk i'm willing to take."

"well, i'm not!"

2. el/lucas/dustin/erica

i really want to see el outside of mike and pairing her up with lucas/dustin/erica would do just that. dustin teaching her things and erica teaching her how to properly put her bullies in their place >>>

plus we'd get the best sibling duo that is erica and lucas. if i don't get a protective lucas who's going through it and afraid of losing his little sister (since he technically already lost someone he loved) then i'll riot

and don't forget the lucas/el bonding we'd get that would also feed into my elumax delusions. them teaming up to get max back and slowly bringing each other back to themselves & just being so vulnerable and happy in one another's company is a need

oh and as a treat, if dustin and erica stumble across kas in the upside down and it looks too much like a certain metal head so they have no choice but to get to the bottom of things on whether eddie's death truly meant the end... then i'd be down for that

3. jonathan/steve

i've been waiting for this one since season one. i want them to be forced to work together and go from reluctant allies to i'd lay my life down for you without hesitation

let them have development outside of nancy! let jonathan accidentally meet steve's neglectful parents and have him understand steve. let steve have the absolute displeasure of meeting lonnie and calling him out when he talks down to jonathan & say "you didn't want him as a son? no, you didn't deserve him as a son!" let jonathan be on the verge of tears bc nobody has ever stood up for him like that before.

these two could learn so much from each other. let steve teach jonathan how to work his damn way around a tie. and let jonathan teach steve what it's like to have a family and that it is in fact not normal to be so brushed to the side and disregarded by your own parents.

let them be BEST FRIENDS. the potential has literally been there from the start!

and for the love of god give me this moment:

"i never thanked you for the camera you got me for christmas back in '83."

"i told nancy not to tell you it was from me."

"she didn't."

oh and if argyle is not tagging along and bringing up the mood and smoking pot with the both of them, then i don't want it. they'd be a trio for the ages.

4. joyce/hopper/enzo/murray/wayne

probably my most basic answer but i am in desperate need for established jopper fluff with their besties tagging along for the ride. and i have been a bring wayne munson into the gang truther since volume one so i am DYING to see this.

hopper and wayne bonding over losing a kid.

enzo, murray, and joyce being a comedic trio.

them all being badass and saving their kids. murray giving byler a much needed moment of clarity. jopper having moments with el, will, & jonathan. enzo introducing to the gang his son (who possibly becomes a member of the party.) wayne completely crumbling when he sees kas for the first time.

the potential of it all... 🥂

16. you can't understand why so many people like this thing (characterization, trope, headcanon, etc)

I have never experienced a tsundere that I did not find at the absolute best an annoyance. I will never understand the appeal of that character concept. Same for yanderes. Nobody can explain the appeal to me in a way that makes sense

21. part of canon you think is overhyped

Conceptually I think the idea of Strive's story being mostly anime Die Hard with Sol and Vernon was neat but the fact that for the most part it has not much to do with the overarching plot and the fact that Vernon wasn't even playable really sours it for me. I don't want to go so far as to call it a waste but it feels like the story writers were reading from a different book from the rest of the devs. I can laugh at Sol throwing a Lincoln statue but overall I don't think that plotline is a very good one in terms of how it factors into the rest of the story

22. your favorite part of canon that everyone else ignores

I liked a lot of Overture and in general that one tends to get ignored. For all of his teen angst I do like seeing that Sin has some degree of anger an ability to be stubborn and maybe even a little selfish when in Xrd he's portrayed as mostly happy-go-lucky and not as deep. I like the idea of Sin being upbeat but I want him to retain some of his prior flaws to give him a bit more depth and it's a shame it gets ignored a lot. Also when I see people talk about Ky being a shitty dad it often ignores how he himself quite openly said to his son that he was aware that he was a terrible father and felt guilty about not being able to be there for him (despite not really having a choice in the matter) and that he would have to work to atone for it. Overture had a lot of really good character moments, yall.

25. common fandom complaint that you're sick of hearing

(Allow me to reach into the crevasses of my complaint bag)

I like ABA but I think she's the Geno of Guilty Gear. I don't think most people asking for her in Strive have ever actually played her and just keep saying they want her because she looks cool and she hasn't been playable for a while. I guess that's another reoccurring irritation for me, with Baiken it thankfully died off since she was made playable but looking under every official post or looking under character tags and seeing the same 'why isn't x playable' 'why can't y be in here' 'okay cool where's z' it get veeeery annoying very fast as it gets parroted over and over and over again ad nauseum to the point where I don't actually want the character back because I'm sick of hearing people whine about them.

Theory: Saki may be marrying someone else, but Mai is still in love with Saki.

(Disclaimer: I have nothing against and in fact support all the actual canon ships, and I'm okay with Takkun, even if he's deliberately a faceless nobody because the show is about the characters we already know. Please do not flood the notes with shipping discourse. The tag is full of that already.)

So when we meet Saki and Mai, they are both in relationships, but while Saki is engaged to Takkun, Mai and her boyfriend are on the outs. In her focus episode, Mai is encouraged, even by Saki, to talk things over and try and fix it, but when she gets dumped over text message, all Mai feels in the moment is relief. She immediately feels guilty over it, because shouldn't she be sad? Isn't she supposed to want to get and keep a boyfriend? Isn't she supposed to want it more than she wants to succeed in her career or reconnect with her friends or the other things she actually cares about? The others (save Rin) are all either happy in their relationships or putting in effort to save them, so why does Mai just feel relieved of a burden instead when she loses hers?

This, gentle readers, screams comphet. Not in the way that some Sakimai shippers are making the rest of us look bad by insisting that Saki's relationship with Takkun is straight-ironing on Toei's part (that's bi erasure, by the way, or have you forgotten Kazuya?), but in-universe societal pressure on Mai to not question who she is and conform as best she can. This isn't enforcing the idea that liking other girls is something you grow out of. Given the themes of the show, this is condemning it.

Think about it. The others each deal with their own complexes, from Nozomi being told she can't move heaven and earth to support a child's dreams to Rin caving to the pressure to ignore a Shadow and focus on saving her career, each coming to a head with the character trying to rationalize her failures and caving to what society told her to leave behind and grow out of by saying "things are different, I'm not a kid anymore." Mai, in this light, is dealing with the same thing. While, unlike with the others, she still can't transform after her focus episode because Saki still needs to deal with her issues, Mai moves forward learning that even if no one else understands, it's okay for her to be okay with not being with a man she didn't love anyway.

And speaking of Saki's focus episode, it's called "Their Bond." Saki and Mai are two of the few characters who stayed close their whole lives. They still go out a lot and talk to each other about their feelings, and when Saki isn't talking about hers, Mai starts to realize what's wrong. She's the one who makes Saki face that she has her own dreams that she's afraid to chase because they'll get in the way of the important people in her life.

And when Saki starts to worry about what studying abroad might do to her parents and her fiance, Mai says that if she were the one marrying Saki, she'd want Saki to be happy. She isn't saying this to try and steal Saki away, of course. Again, she does want Saki to be happy with the person she chose. But it's an interesting choice of words, especially considering that at this point, the creators had had to make a statement about Otonapre being "only a possible future" because of all the shipping discourse surrounding the show, particularly from Sakimai fans (Coconozo and other frequent targets of antis don't get nearly as much hate in Japan).

Most importantly, when Mai asks Saki to try to transform again? Saki breaks down and gives the same "I'm not a kid anymore" lines that the others had given, but specifically, she thinks of her engagement while telling Mai she's "not the same person." These two are close. Close enough that the people rioting over the sunken ship almost feel like they have a point. And while Saki had been among the people telling Mai to just patch it up with her now-ex-boyfriend, Saki is also the person most likely to know what Mai is feeling at any time, especially when Mai just told her "if it were me" like that.

It seems pretty clear that while Saki feels she's letting down her parents and her fiance, she also thinks she's letting down Mai because she's figured out in this moment that they don't feel the same way about each other. Can their bond really survive that? But just as her parents and fiance are fine with her decision and just want her to be happy, so does Mai, and their bond does survive that. Even if Mai knows how Saki feels, Saki is, as Mai says, still the same person. And that's when they can combine their powers again.

In conclusion, Karekuru and (if Hugtto and anniversary merch apply here) Nagihono aren't the only reasons that Otonapre isn't a sign of straight-ironing ahead. And also I'm surprised I haven't seen more people starting to ship Mai rebounding with Rin. Maybe once we finally see adult Hikari.

OKAY LET'S GO!!! First off, I think that Dawn has always had a 1989 vibe to me. 1989 is sonically one of my lesser favorites honestly, but I think it's intriguing because it's this super poppy, mainstream hit after hit album but it's also just so deeply... unsure, in some ways. You've got shake it off and blank space, pop hits but also hits that are very acutely self-deprecating in the way that they try to come off as unbothered. It's parody but at her own expense, making fun of her own image and portrayal. Dawn is very bright and cheery but is also this very self-unsure, nervous individual in my interpretation of her and I think that parallels nicely. We open with welcome to new york, which makes me think of Dawn's contest debut! Dawn was very intentional in becoming a coordinator, rather than May who kind of stumbled into it. "Everybody here wanted something more" just makes me think of her ambition. So: Dawn, 1989. Big debut into her profession (pop debut, contests), very self-aware but tries to brush it off, but still a very bright and fun person.

Gary: does monologue song count LMAO. Joking, I think Red. Upbeat and loud and self-assured at first (22, I knew you were trouble), but you dive down deep and see that the seemingly shallow pool is actually a huge ocean of a character/album that will stand long beyond its time and cement itself as a fan favorite. I think Holy Ground really fits him, though I cannot for the life of me explain why. However, the cockiness /affectionate of I Bet You Think About Me fits him SO WELL!!! Also. "I'll be summer sun for you, forever".

Misty: Debut. Classic, the OG, might burn your house down, unhinged teenage girl energy. Hates that STUPID OLD PICKUP TRUCK YOU NEVER LET HER DRIVE. She's energetic, loud, and a trailblazer for all the albums and pokegirls to come. Starting off with a BANG and a banjo. Not much else to say, just pure iconic energy (but with a soft side!!! secretly a HUGE romantic).

Drew: Okay, a weird one. I almost went Evermore (introspective to almost a fault, way too in his own head, a dreamer in his own way and a timeless romantic) but ultimately I think my interpretation of Drew is just SO reputation. Cold on the outside, but the most romantic, soft interior once you get to know him. Drew also is a famous coordinator and has his own fan club (in canon, consisting of moms who have merch of him for... some reason, which. shoutout to the discord friends that have dubbed it the milf club- or was that my fault???? that might have been a taylorism [me taylor lol, not swift taylor]) BUT ANYWAYS Rep explores themes of finding love in crowed places which I tend to lean into in contestshipping fics and ideas, themes of avoiding fame and finding that balance of letting people in versus shutting them out. Also, you either love him or hate him, I've noticed, much like reputation. He comes off a bit offputting at first and people tend to write him off as annoying before they get to know him (cough, first tracks of rep are not at all indicative of rep as a whole BUT FUCKING SLAP ONCE YOU GET THE VIBES!) Also because I will defend both of them until death.

May: I was stuck between a LOT for my favorite girlie. I know you have her as lover which is SO PERFECT but i think anime may specifically feels very fearless/speak now. I went with Fearless, but it could go either way with a brief shoutout to Red who almost made it. Fearless is kind of in her own little world, lost in thought, a dreamer who is still figuring it all out. But like May, Fearless has some spunk, too! I think specifically Tell Me Why reminds me a LOT of May and Harley's rivalry. "You took a swing, I took it hard, and down here from the ground I see who you are". Minus the romantic part of it, it reminds me SO SO SO much of Harley's supportive act and then turning on her, back and forth. Fearless is naive, and so is May. "And I know that you see what you're doing to me- tell me why!" I think ultimately though, Fearless is finding her way. Fearless is in new territory, making her own path as a dreamer and an optimist. Also, just entirely nostalgic. I saw Fearless in concert as a kid and May has always been my favorite, just very nostalgic for me for both of them.

Iris: Speak Now! Spunky. A little outta pocket. Would probably call you out for marrying a shitty person in the middle of your own damn wedding. Purple. I still don't have an amazing grasp on Iris, but Speak Now is THAT BITCH who SPEAKS HER MIND whether it's THE TIME FOR IT OR NOT and I think that feels very Iris to me in the best way. Iris is not afraid, she's here to be heard, but she's also just. soft. baby. friend.

Paul: Okay, weird one here. Paul has... issues. Problems. I think that in an ideal world we get a paul redemption and he was written a bit differently, and I think that Paul could have his Midnights era, very retrospective and kind of looking at things that went wrong in the past and figuring out how to move on from that. Not an album or Taylor, technically, but Renegade by Big Red Machine ft. TS fits, I think. "Are you really gonna talk about timing in times like these? Let all your damage damage me? Carry your baggage up my street?" The ultimate song of 'hey, maybe deal with your issues please so I can make you the blorbo I want you to be'. /joking but also not really. Quite literally, "is it insensitive of me to say, get your shit together so I can love you?"

Tracey: Folklore. Soft, gentle, would comfort me while I'm crying at 2 am, would bake cookies with me. Simple as that. "When I felt like I was an old cardigan under someone's bed, you put me on and said I was your favorite". I stand by Folklore and Evermore being the albums for people who think they don't like Taylor Swift btw, random side note. I think also, Tracey has this bright imagery with his art, and so does Folklore. Folklore is a very imagery-driven album in its lyrics. It's evocative- I think the biggest examples of this are Invisible String, Illicit Affairs, and Hoax. I'll just close my eyes to those songs and let my mind wander off... which, admittedly, also happens during some orange islands/johto episodes and most of the diancie movie, but you know what I mean lol. They're still a GREAT vibe.

I agree with your post. It's a shame that we can't criticize the show's writing within the Byler community. Also trigger warning for Byler doubt... I wish we could just enjoy the ship without the pressure of it ever becoming canon, and without looking into every single detail that 99% of the time has probably nothing to do with Byler. I feel like I'm the only one but to me it's clear that the writers wouldn't have had Mike confess his love to El if they were planning on making Byler endgame in season 5. It just wouldn't make sense. We now know that Mike being unable to say I love you wasn't because he didn't feel it, but because of his insecurities or whatever bullshit reason they came up with. It's too late for us, but we can still enjoy the amazing dynamic Mike and Will have, and make our own fanart and headcanons like any other ship, and that's wonderful! But it seems like to be in this fandom you have to believe that Byler is endgame, and it's quite tiring. (sorry for the rant I wasn't planning on it lol)

Please give me a second, Byler shippers, this isn't a Byler doubt post! For any Byler shippers reading this, I'm not going to side with the doubt but I'm also not going to try and dismiss it because I think whenever Byler shippers have doubts about canon Byler it's a kneejerk response to try and get rid of it and rationalize it out of existence. I get why, but I think anon raises a good point. I've spoken about this for months and months, but Byler pessimism is a very big thing I feel like nobody talks about. Like we get one piece of bad news, give up and then be sad and venty and genuinely stressed and then we rationalize it and move on but I feel as though maybe we need to actually consider that your love for Byler should elevate the show, not take away from it and make you stressed.

And I know that is so easy to say and I'm not saying you should not feel this way at all, what I'm trying to say is that even if Byler didn't end up being canon (not saying it won't), you can still love this community and eagerly wait for fix it fics and fan art to appear instead of immediately giving up or wanting to leave the fandom. Wanting Byler to be canon is one part of the fandom, but I also think it's so much more than that and it's healthy to acknowledge that and try to still hold love for Stranger Things even if it isn't what you hope for.

Just to put a personal thing here at the end, some followers might have noticed that I've not been posting as much recently. Truthfully, it's because Byler wasn't fun for me anymore. I was stressed out because on one hand I felt super doubtful and never really moved past Volume 2's release and the Mike love confession but on the other, I didn't want to make any of my followers feel scared or doubtful. But I've posted less frequently and re-watched the show and I'm trying to healthily express my honest feelings for the ship, most of which are nice (some of which are critical), and it's been really nice. I expected to kind of be eaten alive for it but everyone's been so nice and I've received a bunch of asks of people who also felt as though they couldn't express this opinion. And it's honestly decreasing my fears for Byler because now I feel more excited than stressed that it won't happen.

Feel free to skip this, but I didn't really know where else to say this; I've gained a lot of followers recently but didn't want to post about it. It feels weird; I have the most followers I've ever had on anything and the Byler tag has hundreds of thousands of followers too, but I just feel so weird about it, y'know? Everything is so quiet at the moment and I'm excited for stuff to ramp up again, but it feels odd gaining followers but with nothing to post about. However this week, I feel as though getting these doubts off my chest has really helped me feel happy. Now I'm excited about Byler potentially being canon instead of just worrying that it might not be happening.

Thanks for the ask and thanks to everyone for being a really supportive loving community. Getting Tumblr was great and I'm glad that this anon and others can find love out of Byler beyond it just being canon in the show.

anyway so basically the crew overhears blackbonnet finally having sex, right, and it's ed's first time vanilla-ing so for the crew members who have overheard him before... sounds different. and everyone also just kind of alsfjasl figured that stede is not great in bed just given his general swaglessness. so ASLFKJASL they assume that ed is faking for him lmaoooo. even izzy is in on this. he hates the "invasion of blackbeard's privacy" BUT he loves the insult to stede and the potential for trouble in pansyboy paradise.

so the crew are all trying to figure this out. they're trying to catch them In It enough to really tell if those noises are genuine (and also, on the part of the black half what the fuck is captain bonnet doing) but at the same time nobody wants to actually have to bear witness. those are their dads.

throughout these hijinks (which mostly consist of gossip), izzy and the black half occasionally mention jack. izzy has the most info about That Whole Thing due to his curse/privilege of having been ed's (best? only? can you be the best if you're the only? much to forcibly not think about) friend previous to all of this. ed and jack had a Thing when they were young, and they usually take it up again briefly whenever they run into each other now.

so of course izzy gets an idea. he's already basically done this once, can't hurt to try again. but the rest of the crew is in on it this time - where izzy is trying to tempt ed and break him and stede up, everyone else just wants a first hand Source.

so izzy contacts jack by way of plot device messenger seagull or whatever and he shows up again (not sure if dead in canon...?). ed isn't as happy to see him this time but he doesn't seem upset either, though he does take jack aside on the first night so he can receive his threat to behave from Blackbeard (TM) without an audience. stede also, uh, has some words of warning for him. the crew (and the audience) know not what stede said, but strangely enough that seems to have been the more effective Talk.

unfortunately for izzy jack's presence does not do fuck or shit to cause drama between ed and stede. on the one hand, ed now has a direct comparison to make between the sex he was having and the sex he is having, and he's coming up preferable toward the present. on the other hand, jack makes stede jealous, which makes him possessive, which makes him get a little less vanilla, so really it's a moot point regardless. co-captain sex gets better/worse, depending which side of the door you're on.

jack, however, has a mission and he's gonna see it through. not izzy's mission, that guy is a fuckin downer (and he himself doesn't really want ed back, never really did honestly). the gossip mill, though. that thing needs fed and by god jack is gonna feed it. least he can do for murdering that bird is to tell everyone if their poncy captain is a hardcore freak or not.

so jack gives up trying to make ed horny - and it's not that this wasn't working, it's just that when ed got horny from, say, seeing jack mess around with that fucking whip, his first thought was always to take that up with stede - and instead just starts asking him things directly.

ed leads ship's business one morning (they alternate who has to get up early) and underneath his steadily growing scruff he looks like he's been fucking mauled. from just under both ears all the way down below the collar of his not especially high cut shirt (and who knows how much further) he's absolutely covered in red-purple hickeys.

"thought you hated being marked up," jack not-quite asks. ed grins at him, uncomplicatedly happy (and that's the real difference innit). he's the epitome of 'bright-eyed and bushy-tailed'.

"nah," he says. "didn't wanna risk being marked up. but i'm fucking blackbeard now, i can do whatever i want."

(now jack would never, ever admit this, not even to himself. but maybe now he's the one who's a little jealous, because-)

"you were blackbeard last time we fucked."

"yeah, guess i was," ed allows, entirely unperturbed. "you didn't try it."

"would you have let me?" jack asks, already knowing the answer perfectly well. ed thinks about it, very briefly, shrugs again.

"prob'ly not."

later, stede calls ed 'darling' on deck. jack asks about this too, and ed simply tells him that stede also calls him 'baby' and 'sweetheart'. sweetheart! he repeats in credulity, shaking his head, pointing at himself.

(jack did attempt to call ed 'baby' - once - and had been told that if he ever said it again he'd have his dick cut off and fed to him piece by piece over a period of several days.)

finally, finally, jack can't take the 'mystery' anymore and, in a tight weed circle with ed and a few lucky crew members one night after stede has long gone to bed, he asks straight up, "so how does he compare?"

it takes ed a moment to realize what the fuck jack is asking, and when he does he laughs out loud. "what, to you?"

and really. that fucking answers that, dunnit.

Funniest (and angstiest) if Ed has no earthly clue that this is torture for Izzy. Also very funny that his only point of reference is Stede. Ed, in his mind: so which of us is the wealthy landowner and which of us is the bloodthirsty pirate? He puts himself into the Stede role and treats Izzy real chivalrous and gentlemanly and whatnot, but.... very badly kaslfkjls. He doesn't actually know how to do it.

Stede

Stede, in his mind: so which of us is the wealthy landowner and which of us is the bloodthirsty pirate? Can I be the pirate? I wanna be the pirate. I'm going to be the pirate. And Izzy has to figure out how to play along with that or they fail the fucking mission and get killed or whatever.

Jim

The extent of what they do to convince their mark is hold hands, poorly. Like Stede and Mary on their wedding day. ...At First. Izzy has been saying what a terrible idea this is since it was suggested, and as soon as it seems like he was right he's gloating even though it means he's failed. And then it's a challenge to Jim, a way to win and also wipe that smirk off of Izzy's face. They start hitting him really hard in the mouth with their mouth for no god damn reason except that the mark is, like, there.

Oluwande

Olu treats Izzy with chivalry, but like, real genuine working class chivalry. Every time Izzy looks into the middle distance, Jim is there, threatening him with great bodily harm. No one else ever sees them.

Lucius

The plan was not to fake date, but the mark made assumptions and they had to go with it. Lucius has an absolute blast. Izzy's internal rage/sexual tension is pulled so tight it's a miracle he doesn't snap right in half. Lucius is fully aware of this, and the knowledge is 80% of the fun he's having.

Black Pete

Izzy has never been called so many pet names in his life. He's never heard of so many pet names in his life. He attempts to return the favor and sounds like he is trying to speak a language he does not know. The mark falls for the ruse because Pete is very cute despite all obstacles, but they do take Pete aside after their business is done and ask if Izzy has something fundamentally wrong with him.

Frenchie

Somehow this is the most competent combination. Frenchie is adaptable and personable and can manage to fit with Izzy pretty well, even if he wouldn't actually choose to for real. They fall into simple, non-PDA demonstrations of intimacy like walking in sync or anticipating each other's movements. The only fuck up is that Frenchie does accidentally reprise "Jizzy" in front of the mark, and in the name of their cover Izzy has to answer to it.

Buttons

Izzy thinks this is the least objectionable combination. Buttons doesn't like him, but he's a competent sailor and he hasn't yet caused Izzy any real trouble. Of course, throughout the grift, Izzy is confronted with all the ways Buttons is an absolutely bonkers person who cannot be handled, understood, or even described. Buttons has an alright time, though. He tells the crew after it's done that Izzy is "a fine lad" but not his type. Izzy has no comment, as he has not yet recovered from his experiences.

Roach

Roach seems to genuinely think he Needs to know about Izzy's kinks and fetishes to make them believable as a couple. He tells Izzy his without shame or prompting. Izzy cancels the mission.

Wee John

Wee John insists he has to be a woman for this. He's fully aware that couples do not solely consist of one man and one woman. But he insists he has to be a woman for this.

Hi. You made a post a couple of days ago about how queer historical fiction doesnt need to be defined only by homophobia. Can you expand on that a bit maybe? Because it seems interesting and important, but I'm a little confused as to whether that is responsible to the past and showing how things have changed over time. Anyway this probably isn't very clear, but I hope its not insulting. Have a good day :)

Hiya. I assume you're referring to this post, yes? I think the main parameters of my argument were set out pretty clearly there, but sure, I'm happy to expand on it. Because I'm a little curious as to why you think that writing a queer narrative (especially a queer fictional narrative) that doesn't make much reference to or even incorporate explicit homophobia is (implicitly) not being "responsible to the past." I've certainly made several posts on this topic before, but as ever, my thoughts and research materials change over time. So, okay.

(Note: I am a professional historian with a PhD, a book contract for an academic monograph on medieval/early modern queer history, and soon-to-be-several peer-reviewed publications on medieval queer history. In other words, I'm not just talking out of my ass here.)

As I noted in that post, first of all, the growing emphasis on "accuracy" in historical fiction and historically based media is... a mixed bag. Not least because it only seems to be applied in the Game of Thrones fashion, where the only "accurate" history is that which is misogynistic, bloody, filthy, rampantly intolerant of competing beliefs, and has no room for women, people of color, sexual minorities, or anyone else who has become subject to hot-button social discourse today. (I wrote a critical post awhile ago about the Netflix show Cursed, ripping into it for even trying to pretend that a show based on the Arthurian legends was "historically accurate" and for doing so in the most simplistic and reductive way possible.) This says far more about our own ideas of the past, rather than what it was actually like, but oh boy will you get pushback if you try to question that basic premise. As other people have noted, you can mix up the archaeological/social/linguistic/cultural/material stuff all you like, but the instant you challenge the ingrained social ideas about The Bad Medieval Era, cue the screaming.

I've been a longtime ASOIAF fan, but I do genuinely deplore the effect that it (and the show, which was by far the worst offender) has had on popular culture and widespread perceptions of medieval history. When it comes to queer history specifically, we actually do not know that much, either positive or negative, about how ordinary medieval people regarded these individuals, proto-communities, and practices. Where we do have evidence that isn't just clerical moralists fulminating against sodomy (and trying to extrapolate a society-wide attitude toward homosexuality from those sources is exactly like reading extreme right-wing anti-gay preachers today and basing your conclusions about queer life in 2021 only on those), it is genuinely mixed and contradictory. See this discussion post I likewise wrote a while ago. Queerness, queer behavior, queer-behaving individuals have always existed in history, and labeling them "queer" is only an analytical conceit that represents their strangeness to us here in the 21st century, when these categories of exclusion and difference have been stringently constructed and applied, in a way that is very far from what supposedly "always" existed in the past.

Basically, we need to get rid of the idea that there was only one empirical and factual past, and that historians are "rewriting" or "changing" or "misrepresenting" it when they produce narratives that challenge hegemonic perspectives. This is why producing good historical analysis is a skill that takes genuine training (and why it's so undervalued in a late-capitalist society that would prefer you did anything but reflect on the past). As I also said in the post to which you refer, "homophobia" as a structural conceit can't exist prior to its invention as an analytical term, if we're treating queerness as some kind of modern aberration that can't be reliably talked about until "homosexual" gained currency in the late 19th century. If there's no pre-19th century "homosexuality," then ipso facto, there can be no pre-19th-century "homophobia" either. Which one is it? Spoiler alert: there are still both things, because people are people, but just as the behavior itself is complicated in the premodern past, so too is the reaction to it, and it is certainly not automatic rejection at all times.

Hence when it comes to fiction, queer authors have no responsibility (and in my case, certainly no desire) to uncritically replicate (demonstrably false!) narratives insisting that we were always miserable, oppressed, ostracised, murdered, or simply forgotten about in the premodern world. Queer characters, especially historical queer characters, do not have to constantly function as a political mouthpiece for us to claim that things are so much better today (true in some cases, not at all in the others) and that modernity "automatically" evolved to a more "enlightened" stance (definitely not true). As we have seen with the recent resurgence of fascism, authoritarianism, nationalism, and xenophobia around the world, along with the desperate battle by the right wing to re-litigate abortion, gay rights, etc., social attitudes do not form in a vacuum and do not just automatically become more progressive. They move backward, forward, and side to side, depending on the needs of the societies that produce them, and periods of instability, violence, sickness, and poverty lead to more regressive and hardline attitudes, as people act out of fear and insularity. It is a bad human habit that we have not been able to break over thousands of years, but "[social] things in the past were Bad but now have become Good" just... isn't true.

After all, nobody feels the need to constantly add subtextual disclaimers or "don't worry, I personally don't support this attitude/action" implied authorial notes in modern romances, despite the cornucopia of social problems we have today, and despite the complicated attitude of the modern world toward LGBTQ people. If an author's only reason for including "period typical homophobia" (and as we've discussed, there's no such thing before the 19th century) is that they think it should be there, that is an attitude that needs to be challenged and examined more closely. We are not obliged to only produce works that represent a downtrodden past, even if the end message is triumphal. It's the same way we got so tired of rape scenes being used to make a female character "stronger." Just because those things existed (and do exist!), doesn't mean you have to submit every single character to those humiliations in some twisted name of accuracy.

Yes, as I have always said, prejudices have existed throughout history, sometimes violently so. But that is not the whole story, and writing things that center only on the imagined or perceived oppression is not, at this point, accurate OR helpful. Once again, I note that this is specifically talking about fiction. If real-life queer people are writing about their own experiences, which are oftentimes complex, that's not a question of "representation," it's a question of factual memoir and personal history. You can't attack someone for being "problematic" when they are writing about their own lived experience, which is something a younger generation of queer people doesn't really seem to get. They also often don't realise how drastically things have changed even in my own lifetime, per the tags on my reblog about Brokeback Mountain, and especially in media/TV.

However, if you are writing fiction about queer people, especially pre-20th century queer people, and you feel like you have to make them miserable just to be "responsible to the past," I would kindly suggest that is not actually true at all, and feeds into a dangerous narrative that suggests everything "back then" was bad and now it's fine. There are more stories to tell than just suffering, queer characters do not have to exist solely as a corollary for (inaccurate) political/social commentary on the premodern past, and they can and should be depicted as living their lives relatively how they wanted to, despite the expected difficulties and roadblocks. That is just as accurate, if sometimes not more so, than "they suffered, the end," and it's something that we all need to be more willing to embrace.

KFF folks frequently insult alterhumans by saying we’re delusional / have delusions, and we need help, (and ignoring the stigmatization of folks with delusions in that statement for a second here, though yes its quite awful) but like…. if we are all having delusions, they’re… non-harmful. They’re not doing anyone any harm? My being otherkin causes me no more discomfort than my being short or overweight. A large bit of alterhumans live full, happy lives. And like, yeah, sure, we might need therapy, but not always due to being alterhuman? like, everyone could probably benefit from therapy.

Sorry for rambling, I just thought it interesting to point out how the ‘you’re delusional’ argument seems silly to me (i.e. so what if i am delusional, not doing any harm) and thought i’d share it with you since, as you’re alterhuman due to/influenced by delusions, you might have an interesting perspective that I hadn’t thought of

the "youre delusional" argument is liiiittterally so anti-psychotic that its almost unbelievable they say shit like that considering how radically progressive they pretend to be.

the "youre delusional" shit is always backed up by "oh! please get help! oh i am only trying to help you! reality checking helps!" which obviously all of that is just completely untrue. it's their way to insult without responsibility. a lot of KFF communities pretend to be radically progressive as i mentioned, so insulting and bullying is a big no-no to their peers. but, this doesnt count! they're Helping! /s.

anyways heres all the reasons they shouldnt say shit like that. and really nobody should for any reason at all:

being delusional isn't bad. being delusional doesn't make you a bad person in any way. it's an ineffective insult which is actually most hurtful to REAL delusional people

if they wanted to be as radically progressive/inclusive/whatever as they think they are, even a small amount of googling could tell you that "get help" doesnt help real delusional people for many reasons. therapy and medication is a "luxury" that lot of delusional people can't afford, and even if they could, it's not the right option for everyone. being delusional means you're at a greater risk of being placed in a conservatorship (yknow, the thing they all want Brittaney to be out of? but theyre fine with US being in the same situation.)

calling things like Otherkinity a delusion trivializes actual delusions which are often traumatizing to the person experiencing them. comparing Otherkin to delusions is like comparing the [physical] harm a toy g/n from the dollar store does to an actual real-life g/n.

i've broken down the "reality checking" thing a thousand times before but TLDR, "reality checking" has never ever been used in professional psychiatrics spaces because it either doesn't work or hurts the person deeply and puts them at risk. reality checking should never be used by anyone, ever, for any reason. if your delusions are "cured" by being reality checked, youre not delusional because that's just not how delusions work*[see tags]. instead, remaining completely neutral when talking to a person about their delusions is always best until you know otherwise about the individual.

it's super infantilizing which is a stigma we already deal with on a very regular basis: that we're completely unable to make decisions for ourselves, which means other people have to do it for us because we're too stupid, we're too out of touch, whatever. remember the thing about Brittaney's conservatorship? yeah, that. we know ourselves better than anyone else, and we will take care of ourselves better than a stranger on the internet.

also have i mentioned yet that delusions arent always The Worst Thing That Could Ever Happen to a person? not every single delusion impacts a person in a debilitating way, which means therapy/medication isn't even always a good option (like i said above.) i love being a dog! telling me that i should "get help" to remove that part of myself is like telling me to go to a conversion camp.

I think I've figured out how I want to write these (Exposition/mini story, when relationship is established HCs actually start) based on a previous statement I made, also ANOTHER REQUEST! All headcanons are placed at the back of the story part. Let's get this ball rolling!

Crow x Reader

"Now, if he ever flies too far from the nest?" Spider leans forward, "Boom." Your stomach made a flip at the kingpin's explanation, and you've never been more uncomfortable to have your Ghost out in the open. Some part of your mind is saying 'Who cares? That's the man that killed Cayde', but another half is saying 'He has no idea. It isn't fair to judge him for something he can't remember'.

That meeting had happened an hour ago and you couldn't get his dumb gray face out of your head. He looked so.. sad. Regardless, having a Ghost rigged with explosives did not sit right with you at all. Spider wanted you to help him with his Wrathborn problem? Sure, alright. When all of this was over, you knew exactly what you wanted your payment to be.

One large change about the new light that you've found impossible to ignore is diminutive he is. His commentary after successful hunts and small chats after a lure upgrade is administered are curt. Even more surprising is his willingness to present mercy to the corrupted Fallen. He is nothing like Uldren.

Acknowledging this division between his past and present self is when you start to realize that you like working with him. A lot. Probably more than just work, but will you admit it? No. Besides, you tell yourself, he really doesn't look like he's searching for a relationship while figuring himself out.

Petra often asks why you've taken to visiting the Tangled Shore so frequently now, and everytime you scramble to spit out an answer, something stupid like "Spider has a good deal running right now". In some part, it's true, since when you're not hunting Wrathborn you're showing Crow how to do Guardian stuff and explaining Last City life to him. His calm and curious demeanor is extremely cute, and the velvet sound of his voice does not help.

When Spider has both of you run point on a mission you always look to the rafters of the building to try and see him or listen for his steps. He's annoyingly good at stealth. The only time you ever had to be stealthy was in the Gorgon's lair and the Pleasure Gardens. You wish you could speak to him unfiltered; if Spider ever discovered your crush he wouldn't let you hear or see the end of it.

As the months dragged on and you came closer to catching the High Celebrant, you caught yourself anxiously wondering what lie at the end of it all. What if Spider didn't let you take him? And if he did, would Crow stay with you or do his own thing? Greedy little thoughts ran through your head as you thought of all the times you shared together, both of you visibly happy in your eyes.

As much as you'd like to live a runaway life with him and hope he felt the same, you knew it was wrong. He'd get restless, and you'd start fighting. Whatever he chose to do, is what you would let him do. Osiris has taken notice of your feelings, and the knowing glances he gives when no one else is looking sets your face on fire, acting like he doesn't have a thing for Saint always writing those letters when he's on death's doorstep; dramatic is what you say.

Soon enough, all of your close friends can tell you like someone, but they simply can't figure out who. Ironically, the day you work up enough courage to ask him to be your partner is the same day he pins the location of the High Celebrant. The morning is tense, and just getting ready for the big fight is sending energy through your body. Crow, on the other hand, seems much more grim. It makes sense, really; you're the one who's been slaying gods over the years.

You're guard is quickly brought up when Spider summons you for a talk in the main room. You listen to his next words with a fierce intensity.

"Do not let him so close, or spoil him with pretty dreams. Kill the High Celebrant. Break Xivu Arath's hold over my Shore, and you can claim any prise in my lair as your reward. You'll have earned it."

Hiding a smile, you nod and make your way to disembark on your mission; looks like you won't have to ask.

The Dreaming City was as mystical as ever, and you vaguely wondered if Petra had seen you come in. Making quick work of the scarce Hive, you found yourself in Harbinger's Seclude. The massive Cryptolith was impossible to miss, and a full body shiver racked you as you approached it. This was it.

Stabbing the lure into the roots, Crow's voice filled your comm channel.

"Ha! Tagged it! It's bleeding energy and on its way back to you." Your heart jumped at his excited tone. Nobody had any business being that cute. The trademark screech of a Hive portal drowned out all noise, and your next big fight ensued.

The next period of time was spent chasing the Celebrant through realms, until, that is, it sealed the last portal. Osiris had given weak condolences, but you weren't going to give up on Crow. Not today! The blight high above you twinkled teasingly as frustrated tears swam over your eyes as you attempted scrambling up the large Awoken statue, just barely missing the hand and falling back to the ground uselessly.

The silence was becoming overwhelming, deafening, even. Osiris continued to tell you to return to fight another day, but he was too important for you to just leave behind.

"Maybe there's enough Hive magic left in the lure to find another way through!" For once, your Ghost didn't parrot the obvious; you almost wanted to kiss him. Turning around with a new fire, you thrusted your lure into the crystalline floor over the last trace of the High Celebrant's blood. Sure enough, platforms much like those of the Dreadnaught revealed themselves over the edge of the bridge.

You wasted no time, racing over every gap and closing in on the blight. Palpitations overtook your heart when Crow's voice returned to the feed, spewing some kind of death message. Death wouldn't take him. Especially not if you had anything to say about it.

Jumping through the portal, you recognize the bitter feelings of anguish. This is exactly how you felt when Sundance's light washed over the Prison of Elders. Not again.

By the time you see the High Celebrant, all you're seeing is red. Faintly, you remember how Drifter said the Hive in the system were scared of you; good. They should be.

Bullets fly and the ether sings with each corrupted Fallen whose head flies by your gun. If you weren't so pressed for time, you would've strangled the Wizard that had your sought after stolen Light. Standing in the pool of green magic, you turn a furious glare on to the Celebrant and unload your heavy straight into its bony head. Something inside of you lurched in desperation to finish the kill when it summons a portal, trying to make for a retreat and trapping you at the center of the room.

"Crow! The portal!"

"I see it! Now finish it!" Just as he says those words, the trap falls and the portal across the room implodes, sending the High Celebrant to its knees. Your body erupts with power as you descend upon the Hive that killed Sagira and nearly killed Crow, sending it off with your super into the abyss.

Heaving a sigh, your brain finally has a chance to clear with no more present danger. In fact, your chest swells with affection as your Ghost confidently speaks of his trust in Crow followed by his reply.

"It's been an honor, Guardian."

Finally leaving the location, Celebrant head included, you decide to sleep on your short trip back. Your Ghost wakes you up before you land, and when you transmat your eyes immediately fall on Crow, who is safe and sound. Behind your helmet, you smile wearily at the former prince.

The moment you step into the Spider's lair, the air is thick with tension. You can tell the kingpin is pleased to have the Shore cleansed of Hive corruption, but also upset that he has to give up one of his prizes.

"It's done." You say firmly.

"So it is... so it is," he leans forward in his seat with a leer, "All right, Guardian. As promised, you can have a prized bauble from my lair as compensation for your... heroics." The last word rolls off his tongue with a quiet distaste, and you have no problem returning the feeling.

"I want... him." Jerking your head in Crow's direction, you can feel the energy crack through the room.

"Cute. Real funny." Your brows crease in impatience at his dismissive snicker.

"You said anything in the room." You do your best to keep your eyes off of Crow; a distraction now could be bad news. Spider lets out a terrible laugh as his guards step forward, readying their spears.

"Oh... You really want my little bird," he puts an uncomfortable amount of importance on the words "really want", "Fine. You can have him." The large Fallen turns his gaze to Crow, mockingly waving his arm upward.

"Fly away," he looks back down at you, "and get the hell out of my lair."

No further instruction is needed as you and Crow make your leave. As you exit the safehouse, both Glint and your Ghost come out.

"Now what?" Glint looks to Crow for an answer. The reality of the event settles on the Awoken, and he looks at you in a way he hasn't before.

"Why would you do this for us?"

As a formality, you've never taken off your helmet around Crow. He'd never seen, or even had an idea about your face, until... now. The tear streaks from the mission are still on your face, slightly visible in the dim light. Walking over to him, you slowly bring your eyes up to his. He doesn't move away, but you do notice with a flash of hope that a blush is starting to grace his cheeks at your proximity. Clenching your eyes shut, you close the gap between you two and press a kiss to his lips.

He freezes for a moment before placing his hands on your shoulders, and you pull back afraid that you've just made the wrong move.

"I... uh." His eyes dart here and there before settling back on yours. His face straightens out, and then he hesitantly leans forward into your range again. This time, he's the one kissing you.

Both of you leave the Tangled Shore together.

Relationship HCs

He never fails to pick you up during your special brand of greeting, which is running straight at him and jumping into his arms. You even do the little spin around like those movie couples

He's okay with subtle PDA like handholding, but nothing too extreme such as kissing in front of others; he prefers to keep more intimate moments between you and him

He becomes enamored with Earth's crows, which you had expected

Whenever he has visions of his past, he'll tell you and you do your best to fill in with rudimentary details such as location or time; you hope he never remembers the moment when you had to kill him

You especially love playing with his hair, it's nearly softer than silk and you are intrigued by the white streaks at the front of his cut

Both of you will decide to sit down every once in a while and just touch each other's face; you prefer running your hands along his jawline and cheekbones while he'll brush just under your eyes and along your temples

Dates can range from a quiet, romantic dinner to hunting down large and difficult quarry

Whenever you find a Golden Age waltz piece, you bring it to him and give it a listen; these sessions always end with you two dancing and swaying with each other

We haven't made any dsmp stimboards. I will if we ever DO make one, but we haven't. I'll talk more about this under the cut but TL;DR:

We will not be invalidating someone else's existence because of your discomfort. Asking for a trigger warning on someone's existence is different than asking for a warning on a specific stim. We will not be putting a tw on how people look, and if there are those things that make you uncomfortable you need to go through and filter it yourself in your settings.

Also anon, I am not upset with you personally, but this hits hard knowing that our existence has to be "palatable". Today wasn't a good day, and that's no excuse but it's not you I'm angry at, and I do apologize if it comes off that way.

The closest thing I think you might be talking about is the stimboard for the Ranboo factroject, in which case, I will not be tagging that post. I've been asked to tag it both as DSMP and MCYT now. Before anyone gets upset about this, feel free to block us, but our reasonings behind this:

That stimboard didn't have literally anything to do with the DSMP. Ranboo, the streamer that was used in that faceclaim, doesn't ONLY do DSMP or minecraft. That makes no sense. This stimboard had nothing to do with either of those things.

The Ranboo factroject was just that- a factroject. Void has nothing to do with the DSMP.

As anon mentioned in this ask, nobody can control their source. We do tag fictive sources from problematic sources, but this is a REAL LIFE PERSON that you want a trigger warning for.

You can go into your filters on Tumblr and block the word "Ranboo" or whatever else you want to not see without invalidating someone else's existence.

Not this anon, but a separate one asked for it to be tagged MCYT. Not only is that super vague, but Ranboo isn't known for ONLY doing Minecraft. He's a variety streamer. Plus, that groups in YouTubers that have done absolutely nothing wrong in with horrible people for no reason.

Asking for someone to be tagged based purely off what they LOOK like- because yet again, this has nothing to do with voids source- is bullshit. You don't ask people to cover their bodies because you don't like what they look like. Just because it's a factive doesn't mean this is any more acceptable. Thank you for being somewhat polite about this ask, but what you're asking for in of itself is gross. We won't put trigger warnings on how people look and things they can't change.

We don't care for the dsmp fandom, we aren't for or against it, we do not care. This had nothing to do with dsmp, and it won't be tagged as such.

For this anon (and the other one that asked for a tw on this), go into YOUR filtering and block words! You regulate your own experiences, and the internet is not a safe place. I will not invalidate someone's existence to regulate the internet for you, you need to do that yourself. If anyone needs help being shown how to filter content, I'd be happy to make a post about this!

So, to clear this up:

We WILL put warnings on SOURCES. This includes but is not limited to Danganronpa, the DSMP (when it is actually about the dsmp), Pico's School, any actual fictional source.

We will NOT put warnings on bodies. This includes physical disabilities, large or skinny bodies, etc.

We WILL put tws on specific problematic people if asked. For example, it would be fine if someone asked for a specific streamer to be tagged that did something wrong (for example, if someone needed tobuscus or dream tagged). Even tagging that feels gross to me, but I understand that those sources are problematic too and should be tagged.

We WILL tag STIMS. No matter how weird the tag request. We'll tag hands and water and stuff like that if needed!

We WILL tag sources on things that AREN'T for introjects. For example if a singlet asks for a character stimboard or something, I'd be happy to tag THAT, but I WILL NOT invalidate the existence of the very people I made this blog for to begin with.

Hope this clears some stuff up. Feel free to block us, and please, PLEASE, go to your filtering in your settings and update it instead of invalidating others.
