Prompt 15 - Villain
@jegulus-microfic April 15, Word count 427
Previous part First part
“Wait, so who's that guy?” James pointed at the screen. Regulus sighed.
“He’s the villain. He’s the one trying to kill her.” He pointed at the running female lead.
“Okay, and why is he trying to kill her?” James questioned again.
“James, are you even watching the film?”
They were sitting on Regulus’s bed with the TV on as they had been for the last three days. James had turned up the morning after their accident with a tray full of pancakes and fruit. Sirius had let him in and led him to Regulus’s room, cackling as he knocked once on the door and left them to it.
Regulus had tried to get rid of him, but James was having none of it.
He came back the next day, and Regulus turned the TV on just so he didn’t have to keep trying to make small talk. James had seemed very happy by this and immediately settled back into Regulus’s pillows. He flung an arm around Regulus’s shoulders. Regulus didn’t stop him. It had been a while since anyone had wrapped an arm around him in bed.
By the third day, he found himself grinning when James bounced into the room with a plate of croissants and flopped down onto the bed next to Regulus, being careful not to land on Regulus’s ankle.
He didn’t know how it happened, but at some point during the film, he’d started feeling drowsy and cuddled into James’s side, falling asleep.
He woke with James’s fingers trailing patterns gently through his hair. He’d turned the TV off and was lost in his own thoughts. Regulus tilted his head back so he could see James’s face better.
“Hi,” He said sleepily. James jolted back to the present.
“Oh, hi,” He stammered. “Good, you’re awake. I didn’t want to move you.” James suddenly jumped up and made an excuse about needing to spend time with his parents or something, refusing to make eye contact with him. James all but ran out of the room.
Regulus had no idea what could have changed James’s attitude so quickly. Had he said something in his sleep? They’d been getting on so well.
He grabbed his phone off the bed and opened it. His recent phone calls list popped up. He had six missed calls, all from the same number, and then one answered call. He dropped his phone. James had spoken to Barty for over ten minutes. This couldn’t be good.
“Sirius!!!” He called into the suite. “Sirius!!!” But he got no answer. He was alone.

@jegulus-microfic december 13, jail, 92 words
“Would you still love me if I went to jail?” Regulus asks one morning over breakfast.
James pauses with a piece of toast halfway to his mouth, “Depends what you did.”
“Depends?”
“Yes, depends,” James laughs. “I love you, but there’s some things even I couldn’t forgive.”
“Like what?”
James takes a bite of his toast, chewing as he tilts his head to the side, deep in thought before saying, “Like if you killed Sirius. Or Remus.”
“What if I killed Barty?” Regulus adds.
“Oh, love. I’d help you hide the body.”

year - @jegulus-microfic - word count: 318
"It almost happened again," Regulus groaned, throwing himself on the couch in the library, half-ready to just give in and go to sleep at 4pm so he wouldn't have to face the rest of the day.
"What did?" Barty asked, still staring at his Potions Essay, looking like he wanted to scream in frustration.
But Regulus was on a rant, now. "We've been dating for a month, Barty! I could see if we'd been together a year, or something normal, but how the fuck have I gone so insane in a matter of weeks?"
Barty actually seemed interested, now, throwing his essay aside haphazardly, not even caring that it fluttered to the floor. "You've been insane since we met, Reg," he reasoned with a grin. "You just used to be better at hiding it. What's Potter done to make it worse?"
"Nothing! That's the thing!" Regulus groused, slamming his fist on his thigh. "He's being his normal charming self, and here I am trying not to tell him I love him!"
"Oooo, he's got you down bad!" Barty replied gleefully. "Look at you, having emotions and shit!"
But before Regulus could respond, a throat cleared and both boys turned to see James Potter himself standing a few feet away.
And, of course, Regulus turned bright red. Because there was no way James hadn't overheard them.
And James looked....upset. Like he wasn't happy about what he'd heard. Like he....oh, Merlin, like he was going to reject Regulus.
"James...I'm sorry, you weren't supposed to-" Regulus tried to explain, desperate to smooth things over.
But James interrupted. "Fuck!" he exclaimed, still looking upset. "I was supposed to say it first!"
Relief flooded through Regulus as he processed what James had said.
Barty let out a laugh. "Guess you both are crazy then, huh?"
James grinned, walking forward and pulling Regulus up for a hug. "Only for him, Crouch."

yall i miss jily😭😭😭 not like its gone but like the marauders used to be so happy sunshine gryffindor vibes. but also i feel like we collectively all forget how much james potter HATED slytherin. idk i also think that yes death eaters were humans BUT they also killed so many people like are we forgetting that barty crouch jr literally tortured alice and frank longbottom he is at fault for neville growing up without his parents😭 i genuinely think that people forget that evan, barty etc. actually killed people and killed people who were probably friends with the marauders. ik that everyone deserves a second chance but seriously???? do you actually think that the rosiers were good people and didn't hate and discriminate against muggleborns??? NOT EVERYONE HAS A TRAGIC BACKSTORY IDK SOME OF THEM ARE JUST EVIL. the way everyone defends evan rosier (love his character but i have beef with the way he gets away with being a death eater later on) but snape, who i absolutely detest, hate and think should have died earlier, who also actually did something that was not evil in his lifetime, is the most hated marauders character like????? and the black sisters???? yes love a complex female character but are we seriously trying to redeem bellatrix? do we not remember WHAT SHE SCARED ON HERMIONE LIKE WHAT. and love the newer marauders fandom but everyones so emo and depressed this is supposed to be FUN. also the characters feel so ooc. everytime i see casanova remus lupin im like 'huh thats supposed to be sirius and james???' love remus but my boy aint rizzing anyone up hes a shy af introvert. and jegulus is so cute but remember that james is #no.1slytherinhater and he was absolutely smitten with lily evans FROM THE FIRST DAY OF SCHOOL. REMEMBER WHEN JILY WAS THE BACKBONE OF THE MARAUDERS? like they ate fr. this became a whole ass paragraph damn i did not know i had so much to say about this. i can lowkey already sniff the comments or thoughts saying 'oh let us have our fun its just a story' im not stopping you this is just my opinion. 'oh none of this is actually proven' please give me a break😭🙏 like most of the source material goes against the fandoms perception of the marauders. 'fuck jkr we'll do what we want' youve basically just made 10 million ocs and give them names of characters like im eating up all the marauders content but genuinely can we go back to the happier times??

Nicknames
“Can you pass me that book?” Regulus points to the text sitting next to James.
“Are we going to do anything more interesting today?” James’ voice is bordering on whiney as he passes it across the table.
“I told you I was studying. You were the one that decided to grace me with your ever annoying presence.” He opens the book and starts flipping through the pages.
“You know you love it,” James’ teasing tone isn’t at all subtle.
They’ve been playing this game for months now. The game where James flirts overtly and Regulus pretends that he doesn’t flirt back. Where they find excuses to spend time together. Where Regulus lets James interrupt his study session when it’s very clear he has no intention of letting him actually study.
“Come on!” There’s no reply from the younger boy who would look entirely indifferent if it wasn’t for the small crease between his brows that indicates that he’s not doing a very good job at blocking James out. “Reggie.”
He looks up then, eyebrows now knitted into a thick line. “No.”
A smirk. “What?”
“You are not calling me Reggie.”
“Why? Sirius does.”
“Sirius is my brother and incredibly annoying.”
James’ smirk turns into a grin. “Oh so you don’t find me annoying then?”
“I told you I did less than thirty seconds ago.”
“You’re such a bad liar.”
Regulus rolls his eyes in the way that makes James’ stomach do a little flip and goes back to ‘ignoring’ him.
James is silent for approximately five seconds. “You can give me a nickname if you’d like.”
“I’m good, thanks.”
“Seriously, you can call me whatever you want.”
“Noted.”
“You can even call me tonight if you like.”
That stops him. It also makes him look up and meet James’ eyes. “Really, Potter?”
James raises his eyebrows, smiling again. “Didn’t like that one?”
“You’re a walking, cliche.”
James laughs. “So is that a no to the nickname then?”
A pause. “I’ll think about it.”
—
A week later and James walks into the Slytherin common room.
“Potter, to what do we owe this honour?” Barty asks, not even bothering to get up from where’s he’s laying across Evan’s lap on one of the sofas, spinning his wand between his fingers.
Pandora is reading cross legged in an armchair and looks up with a warm smile that contrasts her brother’s suspicious one.
“Hi guys. Have you seen Regulus?”
“Let him out of your sight for once, huh?” Evan asks with raised eyebrows.
“Yes. Well, no- I mean. He’s not always-“
“Eloquent as ever, I see,” Barty laughs and Pandora shushes him.
“Oh stop it you two,” she looks at James, “he’s upstairs. Sometimes he needs to escape from these idiots.”
She shushes them again as they start to argue and they settle back down with a grumble.
James nods. “Right, well do you think he’d mind if I drop something to him? I accidentally took his quill from the library the other day and I’m not sure I want to find out what happens if he thinks I stole it.”
Evan shrugs. “He’s your boyfriend, Potter. Do what you want.”
Everything stops.
James can hear his heart beating in his ears.
Pandora’s smile has dropped. “Are you okay James?”
James takes a deep breath and nods his head, blinking so the room starts moving again. “Yep, all good. I’ll go deliver this quill to my… boyfriend.”
The word comes out slowly as James gauges their reactions, waiting for one of them to laugh at him, to laugh at their joke.
Instead they stare at him. “Okay…” Evan says eventually.
James doesn’t remember walking through the common room or up the stairs. He doesn’t remember knocking on Regulus’ door or opening it to find him sitting cross legged on his bed, book opened in his lap and beautiful eyes wide in surprise at the sudden intrusion. He doesn’t remember anything before the words that fall out of his mouth.
“Why did Evan just call me your boyfriend?”
Recognition appears in his eyes, then and his mouth curls up into a knowing smile. “You told me I could call you anything.”
“I was talking about a nickname, Regulus.”
“And?”
James has to stop himself from looking at the camera that’s surely filming him right now. This can’t be an actual conversation he’s having, surely?
“Boyfriend is not a nickname. It’s a thing.”  He moves closer to Regulus’ bed as he talks, his words faster than usual. “It’s something a person is, it’s… romantic.”
Regulus blinks before putting down his book and getting up off his bed so they’re standing across from each other. “Thank you for defining the word boyfriend, Potter. And for the clarification.” His tone is definitely sarcastic but James has no idea how to respond.
“You’re welcome,” is what comes out. James kicks himself for it.
“So are you saying you don't want me to call you that any more?” Regulus’ facial expression seems neutral but there’s a hint of something else there.
“No,” the word escapes before he even realises he’s said it. “I mean yes. I mean-“ he stops and takes a breath before meeting Regulus’ eyes. They’re softer than usual. “Are you sure?”
Regulus hums before he smiles and takes a step forward, reaching out to place his hand on James’ cheek and momentarily causing him to stop breathing. “It suits you, you know? Your new nickname, I mean.”
James lets out a noise that sounds startlingly close to impatience before he finds himself leaning in, and then Regulus’ lips are on his and his hands are in his hair and he forgets any name he’s ever had for a second, a minute, an hour, an indeterminate amount of time before they pull apart again.
He’s smiling now as his heart beats quickly in his chest, and as the younger boy smiles right back James only has one question:
“So can I call you Reggie now?”
“Absolutely not.”
“Oh,” James pouts and Regulus rolls his eyes before reaching down to take his hand, lacing their fingers together.
“I guess you’ll just have to settle for boyfriend.”
James’ eyes move from their hands to Regulus’ face. “Oh.” His voice is softer now, light. “I think I can make that work.”

@jegulus-microfic | march 31: body hair | 876 words
regulus calls the fire station when a strange burn mark appears in his house and fireman james comes to investigate (cw: mentions of sex and someone nearly gets set on fire but doesn't get hurt)
Barty is laughing. Regulus is in the middle of a crisis and Barty has the nerve to laugh at him. He knows he must look ridiculous, pulling at his plaid pyjama bottoms, zipping and unzipping his ratty hoodie, and adjusting his hair using every reflective surface in his house, but how was he meant to know the local firemen had become hot?
He’d called the fire station earlier in the day after finding a mysterious hole burned into his downstairs carpet. Stumbling downstairs in a desperate search for coffee at 7 am he’d spotted it from the corner of his eye. It was quite small and in an odd place, just in front of a cupboard he barely used, and it looked almost as if some acid had corroded his floor.
Regulus had hounded Barty, his best friend and current roommate, but Barty swore it wasn’t him. Though he didn’t quite believe him, it was too big to be a cigarette burn which did, annoyingly, put the blame on something else.
However, what that something is he still has no clue, and it’s been driving him a bit insane. He had sat in front of the hole cradling his massive mug of coffee with his chin resting on his knees just..glaring at it. For hours, until he’d been dragged away from it and forced onto the sofa instead.
The fire brigade had taken forever to get there, he’d thought they’d forgotten him and was about to phone them again (third time’s a charm) when the doorbell echoed and he jumped up, tripping over his feet in the rush to get to the door while flipping Barty off for laughing at his urgency.
He’d yanked the door open, flushed and breathing heavier than normal and proceeded to immediately choke on his words because the man standing in his doorway was the fittest person he had ever had the pleasure of seeing.
Messy brown hair, big hazel eyes framed by gold wire, and soft rosy lips. His brain short-circuited and all he could think of was what those lips would look like wrapped around him. He was screwed.
Now the hot fireman (James, he’d learned), is on his hands and knees inspecting the floor, and Regulus is lost for words. He’s pretty sure he’s drooling actually. His arse….dear lord. You could end world hunger with it. Regulus wants nothing more than to dig his teeth into it. Maybe take a chunk out of it and bring it with him wherever he goes as a reminder that the world is a beautiful and wonderful place.
James chooses that exact moment to sit up and take off his jacket, revealing the sluttiest shirt he’s ever seen. This uniform should be fucking illegal. It’s so tight that Regulus can see every single curve, every dimple, every line of the man’s body, it barely fits him, he is bursting out of it, the material squeezing the top of his arms. He wonders how the seams haven't burst yet.
His arms. Wow.
They’re huge and covered in black ink, two full sleeves of intricate patterns and whenever he moves they flex, golden brown skin glinting in the light. He’s definitely drooling now. Barty has to lean over and shut his mouth for him.
“So, James is it?” Barty says, smirking, and Regulus has never turned his head so fast, glaring at his soon-to-be ex-best friend, right eye twitching. He wouldn’t fucking dare…oh who was he kidding of course he would, he lives to make Regulus’ life a living hell. He should have kicked Barty out the minute James got here.
James hums in affirmation as he goes back to probing the hole in the carpet. Regulus wishes that was him.
He can see Barty’s smug smile and his eyes twinkling and starts slowly approaching, moving into hitting distance. “You got a girlfriend? Or a boyfriend of course, there’s just no way a hot guy like you is singl-ow fuck!” he breaks off as Regulus elbows him sharply in the side while hissing at him to shut up.
James turns around with a cocked eyebrow, smiling, and lets out a chuckle, “Nope, no girlfriend,” then looks straight at Regulus, gazing deep into his soul as if he’s searching for something, “or boyfriend,” and he winks. HE WINKS. Regulus cannot handle this man he feels a bit faint.
As he flops down on the sofa he sees James stretching, his arms reaching above his head looking like some form of God, his shirt lifting and revealing a strip of soft skin and a line of thick black hair leading down and down and down…his eyes follow it, he’s unable to look away. Regulus loves a guy with body hair, but happy trails have always sent him crazy.
He picks up a pillow and holds it over his crotch hoping he’s being subtle, but by Barty’s sudden cackle, he guesses not so much. Although he doesn’t have to worry about it for long as James goes back to poking around, chuckling a bit under his breath until a huge fucking white spark bursts from his floor effectively stopping the laughter but also setting his carpet on fire.
Huh. That’s probably not a good sign.

april 5 @jegulus-microfic prompt: slap. 874 words.
fyi - james is "pushy" in this fic with regulus' boundaries but it is not an issue. if regulus had an actual problem with it, he would tell james. don't take it too seriously <3
cw: swearing.
Barty is playing cards with some random Ravenclaw in the common room when Regulus walks up to him, glancing around skeptically and sulking. He’s always rather tense, Regulus—but he looks like a spiky porcupine as he joins their table, ready to hex anyone who looks at him wrong.
Regulus stops by Barty’s arm and mutters to him, “I made a mistake.”
Barty raises an eyebrow at him. “You made a mistake?”
His lips thin out. “I made a mistake.”
Barty heaves a sigh, nodding. “Where’s the body?”
“No! Merlin, no—I mean. Not yet, but there might be soon.” Regulus folds his arms over his chest, taking another peek around the room. He’s looking for something—or someone.
“Reggie, you are acting more dramatic than Sirius, right now—”
His head snaps up, eyes dancing dangerously with silver flames. “You cunt, I am not—”
“Point proven, Reg. I think the dramatic gene is in your bloodstream.”
Regulus huffs and rolls his eyes. “Anyway. We might be murdering James.”
“Potter?”
“That’s what I said, isn’t it?” he hisses. He reminds Barty of an agitated cat, hissing and clawing and angry.
“Right, so we’re murdering the boy you’ve been in love with for a fucking century? Now we’re murdering him, after you managed to bag his ass?”
“Best friends are supposed to support their friends’ murderous intentions, Bartemius.”
“I'm very supportive of your murderous intentions, I just have questions. What did the poor guy even do?” Barty even feels a little bad for James. Potter is just as smitten with Regulus as Regulus is with him, which means he is very far gone for him. So in love it almost makes Barty sick, to look at them. It's a beautiful and gross thing. He can’t imagine James would do anything to massively upset Regulus, he’s too pure of heart.
Regulus grumbles something under his breath.
Barty leans forward. “Hm? What was that?”
“He slapped my ass,” Regulus says louder, and Barty cackles.
Regulus smacks his shoulder as he doubles over in delight. “You don’t get it, Barty, he’s slapping my ass everywhere. All the time. He did it once and saw me—saw me, um, get flustered, I guess—shut the fuck up—and now he’s inescapable.” He leans forward to set his forehead on the table, hiding his red cheeks.
Barty giggles beside him. “So—Reg, I’m sorry, please, oh Merlin—you made a mistake?”
He nods, miserably. “I told him to stop. He took it as a challenge. A personal challenge to find me everywhere and publically slap my ass.”
“I don’t blame him. You have a perfectly slappable ass, Reggie—”
“I’m never coming to you with my problems again.”
“Okay, fine, I’m sorry, let’s go plan his fucking murder or something—oh, oh—” Barty laughs, startled, and Regulus looks up.
“Fuck,” he says, standing up straight and booking it, running around the sofa to keep as much distance as possible between him and the entrance to the common room.
James Potter walks in, bright smile lighting up the room.
Regulus blushes from the mere sight of him, weak in the knees but still tensing up and preparing himself to run.
James struts over to the couch, perfectly calm. “Hi, sweetheart,” he says to Regulus, voice dripping in saccharine sweetness.
Regulus glares, steel eyes shooting daggers at his boyfriend. “How did you find me? I’m hiding from you.”
James smirks. “You sure know how to flatter a guy, Reg. But, you know, I have my sources.” He shrugs, nonchalant. Barty thinks that seems suspicious, but he ignores it in favor of planning an escape for Regulus. He can tell both he and James are gearing up for a little fight, a chase. He would even bet they both like the thrill of it, this game they’re playing.
“Come on, baby, why are you avoiding me?” James asks, leaning over the back of the sofa, eyes soft but glittering in amusement as he looks at Regulus.
“You know perfectly well why I’m avoiding you,” Regulus whispers venomously.
James shrugs. “Are you still going to run?”
“Are you going to slap my ass?”
James chuckles. “You have a truly marvelous ass, Regulus—”
“Potter—”
Barty is about to hex James so Regulus can escape when James jumps over the couch and reaches for Regulus. He yelps, attempting to dart away—too slow.
James catches him by the wrist and whips him around, pulling him close with one hand on his waist, slapping his ass with a resounding smack! Regulus goes red, cheeks pretty and pink as he glares up at James. “You are objectifying me, Potter.”
James kissed him hard, practically manhandling him with one hand on his waist and one on his ass.
“I think you like me objectifying you, baby,” James whispers against Regulus’ lips. He melts against James’ chest, an indecent sound ripping from his throat, tugging him forward for more demanding kisses.
They become rather—obscene, at this point, Barty observes. He chuckles and throws a pillow at them.
“Get a room, you sluts!”
Regulus nods fervently. “Room, a room, James, yes, let’s—yeah.” He drags James out of the common room and towards the dungeons, and James’ hand doesn't leave his ass the whole way there.

✯my entry for the @croptopjames fest✯
jegulus | 1.3k | non-canon/magical au
summary:
It was revenge, they say, for a prank they played on the other houses. So if Lupin and Pettigrew got their trousers turn into shorts, and Black got his shirt turn into a crop top, then that means Potter—
“Did you hear what happened?”
“They say it was revenge for a prank on the other houses,”
“Seems like a weird way to take revenge,”
“Someone said it was a new statement for the dress code,”
“Of course those Gryffindors would come up with something like that,”
“Mila from my transfiguration class says someone charmed their clothes to transform into something else whenever they wear it. You know, trousers turn into shorts and—”
“Oh, so that’s why Lupin and Pettigrew were wearing shorts! But why was Black’s shirt cropped? Not that I mind the view but—”
“Maybe the spell worked in pairs? If Lupin and Pettigrew got shorts, and Black’s shirt was cropped, then maybe Potter got—”
But Regulus had heard enough.
He should’ve known something was off the moment he crossed Lupin and Pettigrew earlier that day wearing shorts of all things, but if he was completely honest with himself, his mind was somewhere else and didn’t even think twice about it. But now, after eavesdropping on a conversation of some sixth years, maybe he shouldn’t have been so dismissive.
Entering the Great Hall for lunch, Regulus makes a b-line for his seat at the end of the Slytherin table and starts filling his plate absentmindedly, trying to ignore the sight of his brother at the Gryffindor table, talking animatedly to Lupin and Pettigrew, still in those ridiculous clothes. His mind inevitably going to the person who’s conveniently, not among them.
The thing is, Regulus isn’t capable of thinking of a piece of clothing that would look bad on James Potter.
He has seen the guy practising on the Quidditch pitch for Salazar’s sake. He has had a front row of what James’ body looks like when he leans on his broom, quaffle in hand, gaining some speed over his fellow teammates. He has seen how his forearms look when he grips the handle hard and how his thighs squeeze the rear of the broom when he’s doing a particularly hard move so he doesn’t fall.
So no, he doesn't think there’s a piece of clothing that would look bad on him, he could pull any look, especially a crop top, and that is the problem, isn’t it?
Regulus could feel his cheeks warming at the thought. Oh no this is bad, what he’s going to do if he sees him wearing that? He’s going to make a fool of himself and he can’t afford that. No, Regulus needs to get the fuck out of there if he wants to make it with his dignity intact.
Practically stuffing his face, Regulus tries to be as quick as possible, cursing in his mind at the idiot who hexed James Potter to be stuck with that particular piece of clothing, or lack thereof, more like.
“Let it not be said that we don’t do anything nice for you, Regulus,” a voice comes from behind and Regulus freezes and then groans.
Looking up from his plate, he eyes the pair who has taken the seats in front of him, both looking smug as fuck, “You guys are unbelievable,”
Evan hums in agreement, “Aren’t we just?”
“Wasn’t a compliment,”
Barty tuts disapprovingly, stealing a piece of food from Regulus' plate and popping it in his mouth, “Why Regulus, we thought you would be thrilled by this, can’t believe you’re this ungrateful.”
“Crop tops, really?” He huffs, stabbing whatever is left of his chicken, “And don’t get me started on the shorts.”
“Those were my idea,” Evan mentions.
Regulus doesn’t get it, “Why though?”
“We couldn’t be so obvious and only hex Potter, we had to cover our traces,” Barty says, turning his head slightly to look at the Gryffindor table. “Besides, the others look ridiculous, minus your brother of course, the bastard is fit as fuck.”
“Why though?” Regulus repeats, this time even more aggravated at the notion of Barty ogling his brother.
Evan gives him a pointed look, “You know why,”
Regulus drop his gaze, sniffing lightly. “I don’t know what you’re talking about,”
Barty smirks at him, “You will,”
There’s a sudden ruckus at the entrance. The voices grow loud and you could hear some whistles here and there but what actually catches Regulus’ eyes when he looks up, is the man at the doors.
Something inside him is pleased to notice he was right about James looking good in any piece of clothing, especially something that would show his really fit body. James is looking a little dishevelled, but that only makes him look even prettier. Still enthralled by the sight of James Potter wearing something this sinful, Regulus notices a little too late a voice shouting really close to him, efficiently taking him out of his rivery.
“Looking good, Potter!”
“Barty!” Regulus hisses in embarrassment as James looks in his direction. And oh, the way he smiles at Regulus as soon as their eyes connect.
Regulus is incapable of doing much else under the intensity of that look, he wants to run like he had planned before. He wants to hide, not only from James but from the way he feels when he’s near. Pathetic as it is, the only thing Regulus is capable of doing is following James as he makes his way to the Slytherin table.
Regulus blinks hard at that. Wait, Slytherin table?
Before Regulus can process that, James is already standing right in front of him.
“Rosier, Crouch,” he greets them, still not taking his eyes off Regulus.
“Potter,” Barty nods in his direction. “Nice shirt, does it come in men’s?”
James grin turns sharp, “You don’t want me to answer that, Crouch,”
“Okay, time to go, have a great one!” Evan practically drags Barty aways as the latter cackles like a madman all the way out of the Great Hall.
When his laugh fades, James is still in front of Regulus and Regulus is purposefully looking at anything but his face, so his gaze inevitably fall at the only thing at his eye-level, James’ stomach.
There are beads of sweet running down over that beautiful golden skin and all Regulus wants, is to touch it to see if it’s as soft as it looks. Wondering how it would feel under his teeth.
James clears his throat to catch Regulus' attention. Unnecessary, since he hasn’t lost it the moment he entered the Great Hall.
“So, Regulus,” he starts.
“Yes?” He can see the trail of hair disappearing under the navy trousers. He’s having a hard time not to reach out and touch it.
He’s being so brave about this whole thing, someone should notified his mind-healer.
A beat of silence and then a hand, reaching for his chin and turning his face up, callous fingers against his soft skin. The sight of James’ playful smile makes something inside him melt.
“My eyes are up here, love.”
His cheeks get warmer out of the embarrassment of being caught. Not that he was subtle in the least but still, embarrassing.
James doesn’t seem to mind in the least.
“You’re blushing,” he notices.
Regulus' face is practically red at this point.
“Shut up,” he grumbles and James chuckles.
“No, no, I like it,” he says, voice soft. “Red looks good on you,” and then he proceed to fucking caressing his cheek.
It’s settled then, Regulus is living inside a romantic novel where making a fool out of yourself in front of someone you fancy is necessary and crop tops are a thing.
“What do you want?”
“Just wanting to say hello,” James says, eyes softening. “Hello,”
“Hi,” Regulus says, like an idiot.
“Fancy a Quidditch game with me?”
Regulus frowns. “Right now?”
“Why not?”
“You’re not wearing the proper gear,”
James smirks, “I think I will manage,”
This is a bad idea, a terrible one and Regulus knows it, everyone knows it and yet— “Lead the way then,”
James lets his hand drop from his face, and it takes all of Regulus not to chase the touch, but the feeling of loss is quickly replaced with excitement when he sees James holding his hand up for Regulus to take.
Regulus does, of course he does.
Hand in hand, they make it to the Quidditch pitch.
Together.

@jegulus-microfic // january 1 // prompt: decent // words: 465
There are three knocks on the bathroom door and a call of are you decent? as Regulus dries himself off.
“Yeah, come in!” He calls back, glancing over his shoulder when James opens the door and shuffles inside, a stack of clean clothes in his hands. As soon as his eyes land on Regulus, he squeezes them shut.
“I thought you said you were decent!” He says, voice pitchy and panicked.
Regulus can’t help but laugh, glancing down at his naked form. A smattering of hickeys and bite marks along the insides of his thighs, on his hipbones. He noticed a few on his neck earlier as well and quietly lamented the fact that he’d most likely have to cover them up unless he wanted Barty and Evan up his ass about it.
“James, you saw me naked last night. Why are you being precious about it now?”
“I’m just trying to be respectful,” he murmurs, eyes peeking open but careful not to look at Regulus. He moves gingerly towards the sink, setting the clothes down. Sweatpants and a shirt. James’, probably. Hopefully.
“Oh? Were you also trying to be respectful when you spread me out on yo-”
James darts forward, a hand clamping over his mouth to shut him up. “Shh.” Regulus feels his hot breath fan the side of his face. “Sirius is down the hall.”
Regulus manages to refrain from licking at the palm of James’ hand where it’s pressed against his lips, but he did give in to the urge to roll his eyes. He pries James’ hand away and says, “If he didn’t hear us last night, he sure isn’t going to hear us now.”
It sounds more like a suggestion than Regulus intended, but he is more than willing to go with the flow here. After all, isn’t that what got him into this situation in the first place? A New Year’s kiss that escalated until Regulus was sure he had fireworks shooting through his veins, the ones in the sky paling in comparison to James’ hands on him.
“You don’t know that,” James argues, hand resting on Regulus’ cheek now.
And listen. Regulus Black is many things, but he is a little brother before anything else, so he opens his mouth and takes a deep breath, gearing up for a loud call of Sirius’ name
Before he can do that, though, the hand on his cheek shifts, moving to hold his jaw in a firm grip. “Shut up,” James tells him, eyes no longer shifting about the room but focused on him instead. With their faces so close together, Regulus can see the exact moment James realizes their position. The brown of his iris being swallowed up by lust.
There we go, Regulus thinks. And then: “Make me.”

Evan’s busy reaching across the bar for a couple of drinks, arm outstretched and easy smile on his face, when Regulus walks up next to him.
“Two butterbeers, please,” Regulus nods to the bartender.
Evan turns his head in surprise, clearly not expecting to have been followed. “I was getting you guys drinks, you know. You didn’t have to get up.”
“Yeah, I know. But I needed a bit of a break from all… that.” Regulus tilts his head towards a booth in the corner, indicating the chaos currently taking place there. He’s just escaped the aftermath of Barty attempting to flirt with Remus just to make Sirius mad, which has not ended well. Just like Barty intended. Honestly, Regulus doesn’t know why he puts up with him.
Regulus opens his mouth to continue, feeling somewhat hesitant. He’s not sure how Evan will react to what he’s about say, but he’s going to try anyways. “And also because I wanted to ask you something in private. Or at least, away from them.”
“Hold on,” Evan replies. The bartender’s just handed him his drinks, and he’s trying to find a way to carry them. “Okay, carry on.”
Regulus doesn’t waste any time. “You’re in love with Barty.”
Evan doesn’t look up from the drinks, not giving Regulus’s accusation even a slight reaction. “That wasn’t much of a question, Reg.”
If Regulus didn’t know better, he’d say Evan was completely unbothered by this whole situation. But he does know better, and Evan’s completely straight face as he fiddles with the glasses is a dead giveaway.
“You’re not going to deny it?” He’s genuinely curious. It’s unlike Evan to not, at the very least, try to avoid answering directly.
“Why would I? It’s the truth, and I know you’re not going to tell him.”
“But you’re not really the type of person to be okay with… sharing this sort of thing.”
Evan looks up now, small smile making its way to his face. “No, I’m usually not. But honestly it’s been going on so long that it’s more trouble than it’s worth to keep it hidden. From you, at least.”
“I—” he pauses, not entirely sure what to do with that. “How long has this been a thing?”
“Oh, about…” Evan squints, as if he can look back in time and pinpoint the exact moment it started. “Five years now?”
“Five years?”
“Don’t sound so surprised, Reg.”
“Why shouldn’t I?”
“Because it’s really not that out of character for me.”
Evan flashes another smile and makes to leave, but Regulus blurts out, “Why haven’t you done anything about it? If it’s been so long?”
Evan glances over at their booth. Regulus follows his gaze, where Barty is now gesturing wildly with his hands in what is probably an attempt to avoid death at Sirius’s hands.
“Because,” Evan says, still looking at Barty, “it would ruin our relationship.”
He sounds so resigned to the fact that Regulus’s heart clenches. He feels like a bad friend. He had no idea, absolutely none, that Evan had been feeling this way for such a long time. “You can’t know that.”
Evan looks back at him, amused expression on his face as he asks, “Can’t I? It’s Barty; even if he did feel the same way—which he doesn’t—he would never be able to let himself commit to a relationship. The fear and discomfort would eat him alive. You know that.”
Regulus does, in fact, know that. But it doesn’t stop him from wanting to fix this, somehow. From wanting to try to get Evan to fight for a chance, at the very least. “But you’re Evan. There used to be be bets about when you guys would finally sort out your shit and start going out.”
Evan blinks, clearly not having known that.
“And it wasn’t because people knew you were in love with him—hell, I didn’t even know that—it was because of the way you both look at and act around each other. And I know that you’re too smart to have not noticed any of that, Evan.”
“Well. Maybe. But that’s also just who he is. He looks at practically everyone like that, acts like that with everyone. So you can stand there and tell me that I’m special, but I’m always going to see that for what it is. A lie, Regulus. And I don’t need you to lie to me. This whole thing is already bad enough already, I don’t need you adding to it, too.”
“But—”
“Don’t, Regulus. Just don’t.”
Regulus changes tactics. “How can you stand it?”
Evan gives a sad smile. “Like you said; I’m Evan. I’m always going to be in love with him, no matter what he does, really. And he’s Barty, so he’s going to do a lot of shit. But that’s just the way things are, I suppose.”
“So you’re just going to let him shatter your heart and stomp all over it?”
Evan smiles bitterly. “He’s been doing that for years, Reg. You’re a bit late to the game.”
Regulus hates this, hates Evan’s defeated tone and tired eyes. “How are you just so calm about this? Don’t you hate it?”
Evan considers that. “I did, for a while. I spent a long, long time hating it. But it only cost me energy I couldn’t afford to lose, and it didn’t change anything in the end.”
And there’s not a lot Regulus can say in response to that, so instead he eyes Evan: the regretful smile, the sad slump of his shoulders, and the way his body is subconsciously turned towards Barty, even now. “Are you… going to be okay?”
“Of course, Reg, why would you even ask?” He smiles, but it doesn’t reach his eyes. “This is just the hand life has dealt me. I’m used to it by now. You might as well get used to it, too. Nothing’s going to change between Barty and me.”
And with that, he shoulders past Regulus, drinks in hand. And Regulus watches him go, unable to unsee how painfully in love Evan is. He watches the way Barty’s entire face lights up when he sees Evan, he watches the soft smile Evan gives Barty in return, and he prays to anyone who’s listening that Evan will turn out to be wrong.

Kiss Cam Kiss
from @jegulus-microfic's prompt, camera (511 words)
“You kissed him?! You fucking kissed him?!”
Regulus stays silent. He’s painting his nails in black, and he has a smug smile lightly floating on his lips.
On the other side of their kitchen, Sirius paces frantically, eyebrows furrowed, his phone in hand, watching one excerpt of the rediffusion of the hockey match on loop. The more he’s looking at it, the worse his furious expression gets.
Regulus knows what’s on that video. He knows very well. The more he thinks about it, the bigger his smirk gets.
“Regulus?! Say something!” Sirius snaps at him, throwing his phone at him. “You— Argh!”
Regulus peeks at the screen that landed on his lap.
He sees the kiss cam stopping on James and him; James offered to take him to the match, since he was already going. Sirius already had a date with Remus, and James said Peter told him he didn’t want to go; Dorcas, Lily, Marlene and Mary already had plans too (something about a girls’ night, or something) apparently, and Barty and Evan were already all over each other and Pandora smiled at the offer to go, and simply said they’d be better with only the two of them.
They’re sitting next to each other on the bleachers. The cam stops on them; they’re both looking up. James immediately laughs at it, and Regulus grins slowly. James points up at the screen, all smiley. He says something to Regulus, still laughing.
Look, Regulus, we’re on the kiss cam!
Regulus looks at him defiantly, still grinning. He’s answering something, but of course, on the video, the only visible thing is his lips moving. It’s hard to guess what he’s saying just looking at the video. But Regulus remembers perfectly what he says.
Yeah we are. And? You know what that means?
James blinks, lowers his arm, and stares at him. Regulus is still speaking.
Means we have to kiss, now.
James blushes a bit; it’s not as much visible on the video but, oh, Regulus remembers perfectly how adorable James looked at this moment. Blush all over his pretty face, from his cheeks to his neck, eyes opened wide with a glint of hope, a little smile threatening to appear at the corner of his lips. No one could blame him for what he did next.
We have to kiss?
And then, on the video, Regulus grabs James’ chin and he kisses him. Rather passionately.
Looking at the video, Regulus smirks; they look good like that.
James is returning the kiss eagerly too, and the crowd laughs, cheers, and applauds in the background. They finally pull away from each other after the long kiss they shared, and Regulus’ hands are still on James’ hair. They both have matching smiles, and Regulus remembers the look of lust James was giving him; now that he thinks of it, maybe he had the same too.
He looks up to meet Sirius’ eyes, who’s standing behind the couch, with an offended look on his face. “He’s my best friend! Regulus, you’re disgusting!”
And Regulus chuckles.

Chapter 26: Hooked on a feeling
Thursday, November 25th, 1976
As you walked back to the common room with your friends, Sirius didn’t let go of your hand at all. Remus, who had been the one with the idea, stood rather close to the two of you, and the rest also kept a close eye on you. Especially Peter who seemed to have been altered by the whole situation.
By the time you’d got to the common room you were a lot more relaxed, there was something about walking with your friends that just made you feel instantly better, even if you weren’t saying much. You easily realised how fast Remus had driven the subject of the conversation to something else, being backed up by Sirius who didn’t shut up about the new songs he’d gotten from his cousin Andromeda, it all had helped you order your thoughts better.
Yes, you hadn’t been paying attention to the strength of your spell, and yes, it had been quite strong, enough to push Evan back a couple of metres but not enough to really hurt him, it had probably stung like a bitch, but looking at things from a different perspective, he might have been more pissed because he lost, and because you had helped turn off the fire with your relashio, than he had been hurt by your spell. In fact, even if Seraphina had practically dragged him out of the classroom, he had been walking when he left.
And then you remembered the way he had laughed at your attempts to open the door of the shack and you almost thought he actually deserved it, even if your intention had never been to actually hurt him. And then you remembered Barty, and you knew he’d be absolutely pissed at you which had you shiver and inch just a little closer to Sirius.
He gave you a rather puzzled look, wondering what could have been going on in your mind before squeezing your hand comfortingly.
Eventually, you all ended up in the common room, Remus pulled out the food from his backpack and handed it over to you. They had picked sandwiches, sausages, bacon and a lot of other tasty, meaty treats. You almost laughed, they had noticed that you had been craving meat, and they had gone and picked probably every single thing with it on the meal.
When the girls had gone off to the library together, James, who had been sitting on the rug as he snuck some of the treats from your plate when he thought you weren’t looking, leaned in to ask “How did it go with Ricchie?”
You looked around for a second, making sure there was no one listening in, and responded “he’s on board, he said it’d be hard to convince the headless hunt.”
James smiled “knew you could convince him,” he said as he pulled back “You’re damn good at that.”
“I guess I am,” you smiled. quite pleased with yourself, “Does that mean I’m playing on Sunday?”
James laughed as he shook his head in disbelief “Don’t push your luck Vixi, you might be charming, but it depends on how you know what is looking by then.”
You huffed in response, and let yourself lean back in between Sirius and Remus as you took another sausage and started to munch on it “When will you go get the recipes?” You asked, turning to Remus.
“After dinner,” he said, “you think your talk with Nightshade will be done by then?”
You took a deep breath “I certainly hope it will… Oh, by the way, I found the perfect place to brew the potion…”
“Really, where?” Sirius asked casually.
“There’s a secret room near the Prefect Bathrooms, Richie showed me,” you started “It’s very small, kinda like a map room, with lots of forbidden books hidden in there, I assume Richie was as much of a trouble maker as you lot when he was alive…”
“Kinda like a map room?” he asked again, you had piqued his curiosity.
“You lot?! As if you weren’t included…” mumbled James.
You threw him a wink and turned back to Sirius “Well, it’s got a massive table in the centre, perfect for maps or large parchments and things like that,” you explained, “but I also saw a few potion things on the corner, I mean of course there’s no sink or anything like that, but I’m sure we can make do with what we have, it’s perfect! Completely away from prying eyes too. And you know people barely even cross that hallway anyway…”
“Well I guess you’ll show me your secret room and I’ll show you our secret map,” Remus said with a shrug.
“We’re showing her the map?” Peter asked.
James nodded “Indeed we are little Wormtail, it was an executive decision since she’s now an Honourable Marauder.”
“Wait! Really?” you asked, with a small gasp.
Sirius nodded, wrapping his arm over your shoulder, leaving his hand near your neck so as not to touch your wounded arm and smiled at you “You didn’t know?” he tsked.
You shook your head, “but it’s only natural, isn’t it? You know my secret now,” Remus said calmly.
“Lily does too,” you replied “And she’s not a-“
“And then there’s Vixen,” Peter said matter of factly, cutting you off mid-sentence.
“Aaaaand you’re going to do your first official Marauders Prank tomorrow,” Sirius finished.
“But… this- this feels like… It’s like being knighted or something…”
That got a chuckle from every single one of the boys, James stood up then, taking his wand in his hand, you looked at him puzzled when he extended his arm with his hand and placed it over your shoulder “Lady Vixen…” he started.
“What? Prongs you’re insane!”
“Shut up,” he said simply, and cleared his throat “Lady Vixen,” he repeated the same actions as before “I hereby declare you an honourable member of The Marauders,” he finished.
“As an official member, I ratify the decree,” Remus added.
“I ratify it a second time,” Peter added.
Sirius looked at you with a teasing smile “I don’t know about that…” he started but laughed mid-sentence when he saw the stares from all of his friends “All right… All right… I ratify the decree a third time, Kit’s one of us now.”
James smiled “Settled then, you can now know about the map.”
“Which map?” You asked, curiosity taking the best of you.
“Not yet,” Remus said “She’ll see it in due time.”
“Oh! You’re such a tease!” you said, leaning back in between Remus and Sirius again, crossing your arms over each other with a small pout, which just got Remus to chuckle, you looked way too adorable.
Then the clock chimed in “Dinner time,” Peter said with a smile.
James stood up “Sounds brilliant, I’m famished.”
“You’ve been eating my food since we got here,” you teased. He looked at you in shock, as if he was surprised he hadn’t been as sneaky as he thought he had been. The rest of the boys just laughed.
“No, I haven’t.” James said casually “must have imagined it.”
You just laughed at the seriousness he used to say it “So you’re saying I hallucinated it?”
James nodded “Indeed you have, perhaps we really should take you to Pomfrey.”
“All right Prongs, whatever you say,” you responded.
You separated from the boys when Marlene waved at you to sit right next to her, she wanted to ask you about learning to use confringo, and you spent the rest of the dinner discussing some advanced duelling spells with her, Beth, Lily and Mary had joined in the conversation a little later on and you discovered you all knew some spells the others didn’t.
“We should study them together,” Beth said “Find a quiet place and practice so we become better duelists.” Beth had joined the duelling club a couple of weeks before you had.
“I’d tag along with you girls,” Mary quipped “It’s always useful to know a thing or two about defending yourself, could help me brush up on my curses and hexes for next year’s N.E.W.T.S.”
“It’s a fantastic idea indeed,” Lily said “I say we do it.”
“Really?” You asked her a little surprised.
“Yeah, we could make our own little duelling club,” she said “Seems useful for the times we’re living in.”
Mary’s face turned a little sour. “I’d rather not talk about the times we’re living in.”
You were about to say something else when you felt a hand on your shoulder, you looked up and swallowed, it was Professor Nightshade, “Have you finished your meal?” she asked politely. You nodded in response. “Good, please follow me to my office.”
Lily gave you a worried look but you gave her a smile in return, whatever punishment she was going to give you, it couldn’t be too bad. “I’ll just take something for the way,” you told her, stood up and walked towards the boys, leaning in to grab an apple from the bowl right next to Remus “Where are we regrouping?" you whispered.
"Give me your hand," he said.
You turned to look at Nightshade, she was tapping her feet as she stood near the girls and looked, you swallowed, but instantly did as asked. Remus took your hand and placed a small, crescent moon bead that he took from his pocket, allowing his fingers to linger on your palm for a little too long before he spoke again.
"Keep it with you, we’ll find you."
You frowned, giving him a puzzled look, but turned back at Nightshade who looked like she was losing her temper and you nodded, Remus heard you say something like "Sorry Professor, I was looking for the right one," as you approached her with what he assumed was another one of those charming apologetic smiles of yours.
"You gave her your charm," Sirius said as he saw you go.
"So we can find her after the library," Remus responded, turning back to the other boy, "you ready?"
Sirius smirked "I’m always ready, Moons. But we need to get the cloak first."
"And the map," the other boy added. “Prongs and Wormtail will be working on the escape plan all night, you’ll join them and practise the spells afterwards, right?"
Sirius nodded in return, “You’ll stay with Vixen and prepare the potion,” he then hesitated for a second “Ask her if she’s all right for me?” Remus gave Sirius a frown, and the blue-eyed boy took a deep breath, “She’s always at ease when you’re around, and for some reason, I feel like she would tell you if–”
Remus shook his head “–She wouldn’t.”
“No, but I’m sure, you even told me about that time after practice that-“
“–Pads.” Remus said calmly “She’s not going to tell me shit, not this time.”
“But–“
“-It’s because it was me,” the taller boy explained. “She won’t say shit because I was the one to scratch her, I’m the reason she’s hurt.”
“That’s not fair,” Sirius countered, “You didn’t mean to, she knows it.”
“And that’s exactly why she wouldn’t tell me if she was off,” Remus sighed “She doesn’t want me to feel bad about it, and I don’t want to make her uncomfortable by making her lie.” Yeah, Remus knew what it was like to lie to his friends about the way he was feeling, he knew what it was like to feel the need to do it as if not to worry them, he didn’t want you to go through that, especially since he had been the one to hurt you in the first place.
Sirius sighed, leaning against the table, holding his head up with his hands, his beautiful curls cascading around his face and spilling between his fingers. Remus stared, almost enthralled by the beauty of his friend before speaking again.
“She knew, you know?” he said suddenly.
“She knew what?” Sirius asked, pulling his head up to look at Remus straight in the eyes.
“She knew I was a werewolf,” the boy admitted. “When she arrived at the Shack and cranked the door open, she was relieved to see me for a whole of like 60 seconds before she realised how screwed she was.”
“But how?!” the blue-eyed boy asked, confused.
“At first I thought it had been you–“ Remus admitted.
“I would never!”
“I know,” Remus agreed “But you can’t blame me for thinking it a possibility, especially with how close you are to each other.”
“But you should know I would never, especially after the-“
“–I know.” Remus cut him off, a little sharper now, he did not want to talk about the prank.
“Then how did she find out?”
“She guessed it,” Remus said with a tight lip smile, surprise and unbelievability spilling from his voice. Had Sirius not been paying attention to how attractive his friend looked with that smile on his face perhaps he would have realised the way Remus had said it sounded an awful lot like someone who had a crush “She said it was in the infirmary, last full moon.”
Sirius almost winced “After the ring incident…”
“I highly doubt it was just the ring incident,” Remus reassured, “Anyway, my point is… she knew, and she didn’t tell anyone about it. She didn’t ask me, she didn’t ask you. All because she didn’t want to put us in an awkward position.”
Sirius sighed, slumping his shoulders as he did “She’s a considerate idiot.”
Remus laughed and nodded. After a couple of seconds of silence, he tilted his head just a little, effectively getting Sirius’ attention back on him. As much as he hated to admit it, he loved it when Sirius looked at him like that. “Let’s get the cloak then…” he said with a mischievous smile.
“Let’s get the cloak,” Sirius responded with an equally mischievous grin.
You had been the one to enter her office first, Nightshade trailing behind just to shut the door as she entered the room and walked towards her chair. She must have been just as tall as you, regardless, she carried herself in a way that made you feel smaller, almost intimidated, perhaps it had to do with how beautiful she was. You remember feeling like the time you met Walburga a couple of years ago, Nightshade had the same imposing aura, except she carried a hint of peacefulness to her, rather than the unhinged chaos that hid behind Walburga’s eyes.
You swallowed as she continued walking all the way to her desk, she didn’t walk behind it though, she instead leaned back on it, elegance unmatched, “Miss (Y/LN).”
You didn’t say a word, instead, you nodded in acknowledgement, letting her know you were listening even if your voice refused to come out.
“You must know why I brought you here.”
“Because I used a very strong, downright almost-illegal hex on Evan Rosier.”
She laughed, a graceful laugh that you were not expecting to hear “That’s not why you’re here.”
“I’m sorry?! I thought you would– I thought I was here because… if it’s not that, then why?”
“Take a guess,” she said with a playful smile. You weren’t sure if you were intimidated by it or not.
“Because of the classes I missed? I’m sorry about that, it was really something unexpected and I–“
“That’s not it either.”
“Then I– I don’t understand–“
“How’s your shoulder?” She asked casually.
“It’s a lot better,” you said before you turned to look at her in shock. “How did you…”
“You’re not the only one that’s friends with the ghosts darling,” she said. “Come over, let me check it.”
You did as told, unbuttoning your blouse for her to inspect your wound “Is that why I’m here?” you asked as she carefully unrolled the bandage.
“Damocles Belby came to me on Tuesday, knocking on the door very early in the morning,” she started, “he said you had gone to the forbidden forest to get an ingredient for a potion, and that you hadn’t returned when you told him you would,” you winced as her hand graced over one of the injured sections “he told me what he wanted and why he wanted it for. I knew in an instant either Remus had told you about his condition or that you had guessed yourself.”
“You know about–“
“Of course I do. I’m the teacher of Defence Against the Dark Arts. I was informed the moment I got here.”
“And Dumbledore just told you?!” you scoffed, sounding a little more offended and angry than you intended.
She chuckled in return, “We go way back,” she said with a small smile “Either way, when you didn’t get to class I started to worry,” she continued “But I went over to check on Remus on the infirmary and he was calm enough, I knew he hadn’t hurt you, or at least that he hadn’t hurt you lethaIIy.”
“If you knew I was hurt, then why did you put me in a duel against Evan?”
“I didn’t think either of you would go as hard as you did on each other,” she admitted “and I wanted to know if you really were hurt.”
“Is that why you placed your hand over my shoulder and helped me up?”
“You almost had me fooled,” she admitted “I would have bought your act had it not been for the reactions of your friends.”
A small smile played on your lips, you were proud.
“You’re a strong one Miss (Y/LN),” she said as she inspected the wound “Whoever did the healing, is incredible at it,” she said casually “I’ve never seen a werewolf infringed wound looking so good after such little time.”
You didn’t say a word which just got another small smile from her. She liked that you wouldn’t speak, it showed your strength of character and stubbornness.
“Fine then, do not tell me,” she added as she started wrapping the bandage again “You know it will scar, right?”
“Yes…” you responded.
“And you don’t care?” she pressed.
You turned to her, holding her stare as you clenched your jaw, what kind of question is that?, you thought. “I don’t,” you said simply, “If it had been anyone else perhaps I–“You stopped yourself from talking, she did not need to hear your inner monologue. “Why am I here?” you asked as you pulled back and started buttoning your blouse back up.
“Because I wanted to know something…”
“And that is?”
“Tell me, do you believe in bIood purity?”
“That’s a bunch of bullshit,” you said simply.
She didn’t react, her face plain “Bold of you to say, when you come from a pure-bIood family.”
“It’s because I come from one that I know it’s bullshit, I know wizards twice as good as me that are not purebloods.”
She hummed, “I don’t think many wizards can be twice as good as you.”
“You can think whatever you like,” you spat, you had always liked Professor Nightshade, admired her even, but you didn’t like the way she was speaking right now, it made you wary.
“I like your bite,” she informed. “You could be really useful, you know...”
“For who?”
She smiled at the way you had asked, so forward “I can teach you,” She said, “Personal classes, one-on-one, I can make you the best duelist to ever walk out of this school…”
“And at what cost?”
“You don’t beat around the bush, do you?”
“I have places to be, things to do, friends to see, don’t you?”
She laughed, diverted at how serious you were being “Dumbledore.” You blinked a couple of times after she spoke. “You’d be working for Dumbledore.”
You looked at her, pupils moving fast as you thought about what she said “You’re not recruiting me for my talent,” you said then “you want me for my name, for my father’s contacts.”
“Nothing slips past you, does it?” she said with a smile “but I wouldn’t be talking to you if you weren’t talented.”
You squared your shoulders but didn’t say a thing.
“So… What do you say?”
Remus and Sirius had gotten the cloak and were already halfway through the passageways that would lead them to the library. Once they were about to get into the hallway, Sirius pulled the cloak from his backpack and handed it over to Remus, who, since he was the taller of the two, was almost always the one to accommodate it.
Back when they were smaller it was way easier to get inside the cloak, in fact, the four boys would do it often, and they had no issues fitting in and still being completely invisible. The last time they tried to do it, no matter how close they stood to each other, someone’s shoes ended up being visible. That’s why they resorted to going two at a time, knowing full well that three was their max.
Remus took the cloak and unfolded it in a swift motion, wrapping it around Sirius and himself in a movement that he had done so many times before that it made him look as elegant as a professional muggle magician wrapping his beautiful assistant for a trick.
Sirius looked up at him with a teasing smile as he finished adjusting the cloak, “Let’s go then.”
The two boys walked outside of the hole in the wall and walked alongside each other with practice ease. Remus was awful close to Sirius under the cloak, it was one of the reasons he’d almost always volunteer to go when he did, even if he was feeling off, hanging out with the boy always made him feel better. Either because of the jokes he’d cracked or because of the sheer excitement of just being close to him.
Sirius heard a sound and stopped abruptly, placing a hand over his mouth to silently indicate to him to keep quiet. Remus, who was not expecting the sudden movement, collided with him, his nose almost crashing into Sirius’ head. He got a whiff of his scent, the one of pine trees, musk and a tinge of leather that you loved so much and he had to shut his eyes close to try and regain his stance. Sirius had no clue the effect he had on people. Or perhaps he did know the effect he had on people, since he often used it to his advantage, he just didn’t know the effect he had on Remus. After a second, the boy nodded and the two continued walking, once they had successfully gotten into the restricted section of the library, Remus took the cloak off the two of them.
Sirius leaned closer, placing his hand on Remus’ shoulder to prompt his friend to bend down, when Remus obliged, he tilted his head towards the boy, his long locks brushing against Remus’ shoulder and cheeks. And while Remus was used to this, Sirius was touchy, he’d always been, and he probably always would be, it didn’t stop the shiver that went down his spine when Sirius finally whispered in his ear “Let’s split, I’ll find the potions book, you find the charms one.”
When Sirius finally pulled back, his hand still on Remus’ shoulder, the boy nodded “Keep the cloak,” he suggested “My disillusionment charm is better.”
Sirius arched his eyebrows, diverted. “You should see Vixen’s, she was never spoiled with James’  invisibility cloak like you and I.”
“Bet hers is even better,” Remus said and gave Sirius a wink before casting the spell and becoming almost imperceptible to Sirius. He blinked a few times, staring at nothing for a couple of seconds before he turned around to look for the book. But as he did, he couldn’t help but replay Remus’ wink and smile in his head, he wasn’t sure he’d ever seen that expression on his friend’s face. Or perhaps he had seen it, he’d just never observed it properly. And it had certainly never lingered in his head like it had that day.
But he shook those weird thoughts off and went straight to look for the book, using his wand to light the names of the tomes as he looked through the different potion books available. He skipped through Potionology: Crafting  Magic in a Bottle and Secrets of the Cauldron. There had to be something wrong with the way the books in the section were ordered since none of them followed the standard alphabetical order arrangements normal bookshelves had.
He considered using Accio to get the book he was looking for, but it hadn’t worked last time, and most of the restricted section books had anti-summoning charms since they had to be kept away from most students’ hands. So he instead kept looking, making his lumus just a little more powerful so he could see a bit more of the books at the same time.
Remus was on the far left corner of the room, looking through the charm books to try and find the right one when he heard a noise coming from the other side of the library. It had been faint, so faint that he wouldn’t have noticed it, had it not been because of his acute hearing. Sometimes being a monster came with its perks.
He knew the sound was far away, so far that it wouldn’t be a problem for either of them if it didn’t get closer, so he kept his ears perked as he continued to look for the book. It didn’t take him much, since he knew exactly what he had been looking for. In fact, they had borrowed that same book a couple of times before, and it had a rather distinctive bright red cover, with shiny black details, it was almost impossible to miss. He took it out from its spot on the bookshelf, being careful not to make as much noise as he did, and then he placed it in his bag.
But that’s when he heard it, the sound from earlier had been steps. Steps that were approaching them pretty damn fast. Remus looked around, trying to find Sirius, and the boy was still looking for the book with his wand brightly lit, completely unaware of the sounds that were so clearly drumming in Remus’ ears. “Fuck,” he whispered as he started speed walking towards his friend.
Thud, thud, thud, the steps echoed ominously, growing closer and faster with each passing moment. Remus increased his peace, trying to get to Sirius before whoever was stepping closer to them did.
Remus looked around, trying to find him, and he was still looking for the book with his wand brightly lit, completely unaware of the approaching danger. Thud, thud, THUD, it was getting closer, so close Remus had to improvise.
He grabbed the cloak and repeated the same motion he had done earlier, wrapping it around the two of them in a second, but not measuring his strength, he ended up pressing Sirius against the bookshelf, the boy was about to protest, but Remus heard the steps getting even closer, so he placed one hand on Sirius’ mouth and the other one, he wrapped around the light still coming from the boy’s wand.
Sirius was shocked at first. It’s not that it was weird for Remus to stand so close to him, in fact, the line of personal space had been rather blurry between them for the longest time –especially with how handsy Sirius was all the time– but this was different. The way Remus was pressing onto him reminded him an awful lot of the way he pressed himself onto you sometimes. Sirius almost panicked, breath hitched in his throat when he turned his icy blue eyes to Moony’s face.
He was towering above him, breath steady as he looked to the side, head slightly tilted as he listened on. The footsteps were finally becoming audible for Sirius as well, but even if he was hearing them, he wasn’t quite registering them, he was too busy staring at Remus. He swallowed, focusing his eyes on Remus’s lips for a second before turning back to his eyes, feeling panic at the thoughts surging through his head.
For the first time in a while, Sirius was completely frozen in place, not knowing exactly what to do in a situation like this. He wondered if Prongs had been the one doing the same thing, what would’ve been his reaction. How different would it have been from the reaction he’d given Wormtail? What if it was you?
Remus, who had been focusing on the steps rather than on the way he had trapped Sirius between his arms, seemed to finally understand the position he had placed his friend in. But even if he could feel most of Sirius’s chest against his own, and how their legs were almost intertwined with each other, he had to focus on the situation at hand. Luckily Remus was resourceful enough to be able to focus on one thing at a time, and right at that moment, the approaching steps seemed to be a priority.
The sound was so close now, even Sirius managed to free himself from the trance and turned his eyes to the creak of the metal door being opened. It was Professor Spellman, Remus realised. The man strolled in casually and started looking through the shelves with the light of a small kerosene lantern.
When he got closer to the place where both boys stood, Remus pressed himself a little closer to Sirius, their heads so close Sirius could feel Monny’s breath on his ear. He could also feel the soft rise and fall of his friend’s chest against his own. For some reason the image of Remus’ pirate costume came to his mind, how both you and him had tried to fix his collar when Remus stepped away and took some distance. Remus certainly didn’t seem to care about the closeness now.
Remus could feel Sirius’ curls tickling his cheeks, and he could also feel the way Sirius’ breath had caught in his throat. He could sense out the scent of his shampoo, and he also smelled a little of you. No, your smell was all over Sirius just like Sirius’ smell was almost always all over you. It was an absolutely intoxicating mix, downright bewitching. So much so that he almost leaned closer to bury his head on Sirius’ neck when he realised what he was doing and leaned to the side instead, pretending like he was just looking at Spellman.
Sirius eventually let go of the initial shock, and even if his heart was pounding against his chest, he managed to maintain a slow, regular breathing pattern, as if not to call the attention of Spellman. He had practice already, he’d been in one too many dangerous and exciting situations, being just about to get caught wasn’t foreign to him. What was foreign, is how weird being so close to Remus made him feel.
Which is why he did the only thing he knew worked in situations like that, and he decided to make a joke of his feelings and thoughts instead of dealing with them. He vividly remembered his own reaction to you doing this to him, he wanted to see if Remus would keep his composure if he did the exact same thing.
Sirius Black might give me a heart attack, Remus thought as he felt the way the blue-eyed boy shifted around. And then, all of a sudden, he felt it; wet and sticky, did he just fucking lick my hand? Remus wondered. But decided he might have imagined it. Except he felt it a second time around. He frowned, turning around to see if Spellman was still close, when he realised he was just far enough, he tightened his grip around the boy’s mouth “Sirius. Behave!” Remus berated in a low demanding voice.
Not Pads, not Siri, but Sirius, your boyfriend realised as his breath hitched in his throat yet again. The way Remus Lupin had said that straight up sent a shiver down his spine. He gulped and obediently shut his mouth.
Remus, on the other hand, was really trying to maintain his steady breath. Even, as he felt his heart hammering against his chest. It was so loud to him, he wondered if Spellman could hear it because Sirius had to be hearing it. At least he could chuck it to the brink of almost being caught. Eventually, the professor grabbed a book and walked outside.
When the thumps of his footsteps sounded far enough, he finally pulled his hand from Sirius’ mouth,  looking at the boy straight in the eye as he continued breathing heavily. He pulled back as well, finally letting the space normal friends would keep when hanging around each other. Sirius almost missed the closeness, no he did miss the closeness, which was even worse.
“You got the book?” Remus asked before either of them could say something weird. Sirius shook his head and the two of them started to look for the book. Both still under the cloak, both still so dangerously close to each other that, had any of the two wanted, they would have been able to bask in each other’s warmth. But both kept their distanc, both too scared of what the other might have been thinking.
“It’s here,” Sirius said as he pulled the book from the shelf “The Alchemist’s Grimoire, right?”
Remus nodded, “Let’s get out of here.”
You were walking back to the common room when you felt someone’s hand on your arm, yanking you towards their chest. You didn’t have to even look to know it had been Sirius. His cologne filling your nostrils the moment you were wrapped inside the cloak, “So you did find me,” you said turning to Remus, who was also under the cloak, he was placing a piece of parchment behind him, tucking it in between his pants and sweater.
“How was the talk? You’ve got detention?” Sirius asked, moving you to stand right in between the two of them. You felt a little squeezed and thought it was weird since normally Sirius would just stand behind you, but shrugged it off.
“No,” you said “She actually wanted to train me,” you explained “She said I could make a fine duelist.”
“She’s not wrong,” Remus said simply. You turned to him with eyebrows raised “What? We all saw the way you quashed Evan.”
“That wasn’t… never mind, how was your incursion in the library?” you asked, drifting the subject away. Both boys tensed up, you probably wouldn’t have noticed, but you were quite literally pressed in between the two “That bad?”
“Spellman,” Remus said, “He walked inside while we were still looking, we had to stay very still under the cloak for a long while.”
“Oh, must have been fun,” you joked with a teasing smile, but neither of them reacted, which had you side-eye the two with a bit of a frown.
“You bet,” Remus responded after a rather long silence. You frowned, something was definitely off between the two. Did they fight? And if they did, over what? you thought, even if “fight” wasn’t exactly the vibe you were getting.
The three of you continued walking for a while, “this is my stop,” Sirius said suddenly, the three of you stopped walking, and Sirius placed his hand on your shoulder to guide you closer to the entrance of the passageway he’d take back to the dorms.
“This is for you,” Remus said as he pulled out the charms book from his shoulder bag, Sirius took it and gave him the other book in return. You observed their interactions with squinted eyes, they were both a little stiff, robotic. Especially Sirius, actually, it might have just been Sirius, Remus did look a little fazed but he always did after the full moon, and it had barely been a couple of days since the incident either way.
“Mind if I steal her for a minute?” Sirius said as he grabbed your wrist and pulled you inside the passage along with him. You gave Remus a questioning look and he just shrugged, allowing Sirius to basically pull you all the way to the other side, letting the tapesry to fall back into place, giving you both just enough privacy.
You managed to barely give Sirius a look before he had you pinned against the cold stone wall and leaned into you. You didn’t even have a chance to gasp before he swallowed the sound by clashing his mouth into yours. Sirius hadn’t kissed you that hungrily since, perhaps a couple of days ago when you were still craving meat above anything else, but even back then, it had been you the one that had started the kiss. The one time he had kissed you, remotely like that, had perhaps been at the Halloween Party…
You knew something was up, but you couldn’t help but melt into the kiss either way, perhaps he was just too stressed after almost being caught and he wanted a way to find release. And no, using you as a relief of stress was not at all making you feel bad, in fact, you kind of enjoyed being able to help him, to anchor him.
Sirius pushed even closer to you, sliding his knee in between your legs as he placed both hands on your face, angling it however he pleased, you let him, in fact, you enjoyed it. The way he kissed you made you feel giddy and excited and almost weak on the knees. You wrapped your hands around his neck, using him as support as you brushed your fingers on the nape of his neck. He responded by pressing his hips to you, probably involuntarily, but you had noticed he absolutely loved it when you placed your fingers there, under his beautiful black locks, so you did it when you wanted a reaction from him.
He accidentally brushed your wounded shoulder, and you winced, “Sorry,” he mumbled, separating from your mouth for just enough to be able to say the words and going straight back to kissing you, letting his hands wrap around your waist instead. You didn’t realise until much later that Sirius had not once, in the many times he kissed you after you got hurt, been so careless with his kisses, so needy.
But you didn’t care, you couldn’t care, really. Not with the way he had you pressed against the stone wall, not with the way he had his lips moving around yours in such a demanding way, not with the way he smelled. And boy, did he smell fucking delicious that day. It was his normal cologne, the smell of musk and leather, but there was something else in the mix too, something you couldn’t quite place. Or perhaps it was something that your brain just didn’t want to place, since it was Remus. What you were smelling, the one thing that was different had been there just because of the way Moony had pressed Sirius against the wall. But you didn’t know, and there was no way you realised either way. Not with the way Sirius’s kiss made your mind foggy.
When he finally broke the kiss, the two of you were panting, and he started placing soft, butterfly kisses all over your face. He looked at you with a lovesick smile “You’re stunning, you know that?” he asked.
You blushed, as if it was possible to blush even more than you already had, but you somehow managed to sober up from the kiss and placed your hand on his cheek, he keened to the touch, still with a smile as he looked at you with those beautiful icy-blue eyes of his, shining brightly in the dark room “Are you okay Puppy?” you asked, a small smile forming in your face.
Sirius’ smile faltered for only a second, as if he had remembered something and he nodded “More than perfect,” he smirked, “especially after that kiss.” His tone had changed, he was flirting, he was distracting you.
You averted your gaze, sometimes you were weaker to his advances, sometimes his flirting affected you a lot more than normally, even if you should’ve already gotten used to it. But there was something still bothering you in the back of your head and you turned back to look at him, “Are you sure?”
Sirius smiled at your concern, but also because whatever had him feeling so off minutes earlier, was gone, you were there, and he wanted to kiss you, not Moony, but you. So whatever that had been, must have been a spur-of-the-moment thing, he was utterly and irrevocably in love with you, which meant there was no way he liked Remus. Because you couldn’t like two people at the same time, that was impossible… right?
“Absolutely,” he said, placing another one of those quick wet kisses, this time to your lips, “Moony’s waiting outside for you luv, aren’t you planning to go?”
You tilted your head, a small scoff slipping from your lips “You’re the one that cornered me in the dark hallway Puppy.”
He hummed as he tilted his head “You want another kiss don’t you, little Kit?” he teased after hearing the nickname.
You shrugged, ignoring the pain from your shoulder and leaned in to whisper in his ear “Maybe later lover boy, we’ve got work to do,” you said in what you hoped was a seductive tone before leaning in and placing a soft kiss in his mouth. Seconds after you disappeared through the curtain.
Sirius looked at you, frozen in place again, mouth agape as he saw the tapestry shut behind you. He swallowed, face stoic once more, the way you had whispered in his ear, had reminded him an awful lot of the way Remus had earlier, softer, almost like a purr rather than a demanding bark, but both had felt as intimate as the other. Both equally shiver inducing.

I've just read your jegulus hcs about reg on his period and it made me cry because i've been in a situation where i got my period mid sex and my ex was disgusted and he didnt want to continue..your hcs made me feel so safe and i felt so happy for reg
Please could you write more of that situation and tge aftercare? Im on my period now too hahahha so it made me so emotional but i love it and you became one of my favorite blogs on here in a matter of few days
Also i'm a bottom barty anon
oh lovie <3 i’m so glad that you felt safe with my hcs! screw your ex for making you feel uncomfy for a completely natural body process!!! this will always be a safe space for anyone to talk about what they need to or share their feelings openly. i’d be more than happy to talk more about the aftercare process! giving you a big ole kiss, nonnie <3
when reg gets his period during sex for the first time, he’s mortified that james will be completely turned off and weirded out by the situation. he’s covering his face, trying to squirm away, but james is firm, holding onto reg and gently moving his hands from his face. he’s like, “love, it’s okay. it doesn’t bother me at all. if you want to keep going, i’d be more than happy to, but if you want to stop, you just say the word, and i’ll get you all cleaned up, okay?” reg maybe gets a little too overwhelmed with continuing because he’s so shocked that james is being so kind to him. so james gets them both in the shower. james is quick in the shower, so he can offer reg some privacy for a bit. he makes sure to lay out comfy clothes for reg to change into after the shower, goes and changes the the sheets, grabs water and a snack for reg to leave on the bedside table. he whips out the laptop and pulls up their show for them to watch. when reg gets out of the shower and is all cozy in pajamas—one of james’ oversized sweatshirts and loose fitting bottoms. his eyes are rimmed with red from crying, and james is so worried, doting on regulus and asking, “what’s wrong, love? what can i do for you?” and regulus breaks down crying again because he doesn’t know what he did to deserve someone treating him so respectfully. he curls up on the bed with james, tucked right under james’ arm. james gently cards his fingers through reg’s curls while they watch their show together. softly, voice full of sleep, reg mumbles, “i love you” and james practically melts on the spot, responding with a fierce, “i love you, too”.
they are just so dear to me. so sweet and special. i hope this brings you some comfort and all the good feels. i’m rooting for you nonnie!!!! <3

.................................................................
The fall semester had passed and winter was soon approaching. The students were finally packing their things and anxiously awaiting the train to go home. Except the Black family.
The two betrothed had become close in the last few months, spending all of their time together. She found that she liked him quite a lot and that he was very much the gentleman she always thought she'd marry. But she knew things wouldn't always be this way- calm and safe with him. The second the winter break hit, things would be changing.
They stood near the tracks, the students all slowly finding their way into the train. Barty held her hand against his heart, his tone soft and caring, "I'll write to you. Everyday."
She nodded, "But we shall see each other during break."
His eyebrows furrowed, "What?… When?"
She could feel her stomach dropping. Did he not know about the meeting? "The… well…. the meeting…."
The hand holding hers tightened, his jaw clenching, "You'll be there?"
"Mum's making me."
The train whistle blew, a signal for the last call to board.
He grabbed her wrist, pulling her onto the train. His face held an angry look to it. He pulled her into an empty compartment.
He sat her down, sitting him across from her angrily. His breathing was erratic and his hands were periodically running through his hair. They sat in silence until he broke it. "W….why?"
She shrugs, her arms holding herself in a hug, "Mum says it's time for Reg to start taking me."
"And there's no negotiation with her?"
She shakes her head, "Reggie and I tried. Maybe you could but… I don't know."
A few weeks into break and the doorbell to Grimmauld place rings. Y/N was in her room, writing her daily letter to Barty as they had promised each other.
She hears words being exchanged but doesn't care to pay attention until Kreature enters her room, "Mistress Y/N."
She turns immediately, noting the cockiness in the house elf's tone. "What, Kreature?"
"Mistress is leaving soon," he noted in an almost singing voice.
She stood, her eyebrows furrowed as she continued to hear the voices from across the house. She quickly walked passed the house elf, her legs taking her as fast as they could.
She rounded the corner, entering the living room.
Barty Crouch Jr. sat on their sofa, one of his ankles resting over his other knee of his other leg, talking to her mother and father.
Walburga broke the conversation, "Oh. There you are, child. We've received wonderful news."
When Barty turned his head to look at her, he stood up, his smile fading. He bowed his head lightly, "Ms. Black."
She smiled, bowing her head as well, "Mr. Crouch."
Orion stood as well, walking over to the girl. He placed a hand on her shoulder, "Mr. Crouch here has requested to move the wedding to an earlier date. Before your seventh year."
She continued to stare at him, her eyes now slightly wider in shock. He wanted to push the wedding closer? Why? "And you've accepted, sir?"
Orion nods, "Yes. We suppose the summer will do. But he's very adamant about making it as soon as possible."
Barty finally looked away from her, his eyes wandering to the floor.
But she continued to stare on, "He has?"
Walburga nodded, "Oh yes. We would accept but… you two must be accepted by the Dark Lord before we make such commitments. Tonight is your first meeting and he shall decide then."
Barty's eyes finally shift up to the girl, full of what she assumed to be regret.
Regulus walked down the stairs, entering the living room with a confused expression.
Barty finally snapped out of his thoughts, "I… sorry. I need to get going. Thank you for your consideration, sir," he turned to Orion then Walburga, "Ma'am."
And he left without another word.
"Oh, Regulus," Walburga said, "We have wonderful news. Y/N, go upstairs and get ready for the meeting."
"Mum, it's not for another four hours…"
The woman stood, her eyebrows raised, "Are you correcting me? Go. Get. Ready. Merlin knows you'll need that much time."
The girl froze, turning to her brother that looked just as hurt as she was. She nodded, walking up to her room.
Regulus walked into the meeting room, pulling Y/N behind him.
The Malfoy Manor was beautiful. The long meeting table of dark oak contrasted with the dark clothing of each death eater that sat at it.
Barty was already there. He had been anxiously bouncing his leg, waiting for the girl to enter the room. Every time the door had opened, he would look up, expecting her.
So, when they finally did enter, his eyes never left her frame.
Regulus sat her next to Barty as he took the seat on her other side.
She carefully watched everyone at the table, her eyes flitting to each person. Lucius sat next to his parents towards the head of the table. Severus sat further down the table, across from Regulus. The Fletcher's were not much further down, the family nervously checking the rest of the table.
The girl felt a hand on her leg, calming her. Barty's hand.
The Dark Lord himself walked through the door, sitting at the head of the table as his snake coiled around his chair.
To say she was intimidated was an understatement.
Voldemort was now mid 30s. He had curly black locks and a dark look in his brown eyes. His body was lean and tall. He looked like trouble.
She simply stared at the table, not wishing to make eye contact with him as he scanned each member.
When his eyes found her frame, he stood. He took his time, taking her in. His voice was soft but always held a tone of authority, "Regulus. This is your young sister, is it not?"
Regulus gulped, wishing he could've avoided bringing her here at all. "Yes, milord. My twin."
Tom swept by each seat until he stopped behind her chair. She was nervous. Beyond nervous.
And he could sense it.
Barty didn't like it at all. He hated the tension that was radiating off her body. The uneasiness he knew she felt.
The Dark Lord's bony finger reached out, toying with her hair.
She flinched slightly at the feeling of his hands at the back of her neck.
Nagini hissed, slithering across the table.
The man chuckled, "yes, Nagini. Such a pretty thing…"
Barty's jaw clenched as he watched, unable to do a thing.
Tom's hand snaked slowly from the back of her head towards the front of her neck, grabbing her jaw lightly and pushing her head up.
His eyes met hers as he towered over her. "…so pretty."
When his wandered over to Regulus, who stared at the two with a look of uncertainty. "Aw. How could I forget."
His hand left her jaw, now walking behind Regulus. "She's to be married, isn't she?"
Regulus nods, "yes, milord."
The Dark Lord chuckles, "It's going to be a big day for you, isn't it, darling?"
The girl gulped slightly, moving her head to look at Barty.
"Stand, girl."
She hesitantly does so, her legs shaking.
He holds his hand out, and she has no choice but to accept.
He leads her from her spot at the table, pulling her towards his seat.
Everyone watches nervously. But they know what's to happen.
Barty and Regulus know what will happen. And they hate themselves for letting it.
He pulls her arm out, twisting her wrist to expose her forearm.
She watches with a scared look in her eyes. And he enjoys every second of it.
His other hand reaches out, hovering over her forearm. He starts muttering under his breath, to which her arm stars to burn.
She gasps loudly at the feeling, her mind unable to concentrate on anything else.
The burning continues, staring to increase. A smirk rises to his face as he watches her struggle.
She lets out whimpers that slowly turn to cries. She watches as black starts to appear on her skin.
Her knees give out and she falls to the floor, her cries and begging continuing until it's finished. "Please….stop….I…ugh…"
Barty's eyes closed at the sight, wishing he could do anything to stop it.
Tom twisted her arm, watching the new mark shine in the dim light. He dropped her wrist, to which she pulled it to herself, her cries hushing.
He bent down, grabbing her jaw once more and pulling her up to stand. He watched the tears fall silently down her face, "pretty thing. Our newest death eater." He leaned close, their faces inches apart, "Will you be loyal to me, Ms. Black?"
She stared forward, avoiding his eyes. Her voice almost unheard, "…yes."
He smiled, letting his eyes wander to Barty, whose jaw was clenched harshly. His eyes were watching carefully. "Crouch."
He stood, "Yes, milord?"
When she tried to look at Barty, the bony fingers of Tom pulled her back to look at him, "You wish to marry her, boy?"
"Yes. Yes, sir."
The Dark Lord placed his hand at the back of the girl's neck. She shivered under his touch, his fingers cold and lacking comfort. "Shall I let you go, pretty girl?"
It's not often that Barty feels his stomach drop. But in this situation, it seemed to have found its way to the floor.
Tom lets go of her jaw, moving back to sit in his chair. "Very well. It's accepted."
He waves her off, her body moving back towards her chair, holding her still burning arm to her chest.
When she sat, the meeting continued as if the interaction had never happened.
She sat in her chair and cried silently, the tears never stopping as they rolled down her pretty face.
Barty's hand slowly ran under the table to her thigh.
Her arm was placed on her leg, her eyes staring at the fresh dark mark that was embedded into her skin.
His hand wandered up to it, his fingers lightly ghosting over it.
She relaxed at the feelings of his hand, the warmth contrasting with the coldness of her skin.

@jegulus-microfic | april 16 embarrass | words: 1,3k
this one is a lighter version of what happened to me during easter lol enjoy;3
tw: blood, hospital, stitches, needles, accident
part two
Regulus went out with Barty and Evan—nothing new.
They drank—also nothing new.
The fact that Regulus had forgotten how to ride a bike, however, was new.
Everyone always says you can’t forget how to ride a bike, and maybe it’s true, but when you do it for the first time in almost two years while drunk, it turns out to be quite hard.
The first few minutes were okay; he was a bit wobbly, but he managed to ride on his own. The problem started as they passed the old shrine. It was placed on a sharp turn, and Regulus, instead of turning left as he should, started turning right. He could see the bike hitting the curb and the pavement getting closer and closer with every passing second. Alright, he thought, I’m going to hit it. He didn’t even try to pull out his hands to cushion the fall; he just flew like a log on his face.
Regulus lay there for a few seconds, hearing his friends laughing behind him, and then started laughing himself. He stood up, dusted off his trousers, and touched his chin. There was a hole in it; Regulus could feel it.
“Hey, does it look bad?” He turned to face his friends, and that’s when he felt a thick liquid rolling down his neck.
“Reg, that looks fucking awful; we’re going to the hospital,” Evan said firmly, taking Regulus’ hand and leading him to sit a bit further from the road.
“Show me,” he said, laughing lightly, because what else has he left?
Barty snorted, taking his phone out and, a second later, blinding Regulus with its flash. When he saw the photo, he just started laughing harder.
“Oh fuck, I look so bad; we should call Pandora,” he choked out, trying to keep the wound closed (he didn’t manage it).
A few minutes later, Panda’s old peugeot stopped next to them. The girl grabbed his face and started cleaning it with wet wipes, mumbling how irresponsible Regulus is.
“Hold it,” she commended sternly. “You had one job, one, and still failed at it,” Pandora turned to address all three giggling boys. “Take his bike; I’ll text when we’re at the hospital.”
***
“Regulus, I swear to god, if you don’t shut up, I will—oh, thank fuck, take him away from me, please,” Pandora said to someone behind him. As Regulus turned around, he felt cured right then and there, because in front of him stood the most beautiful man he’s ever seen, with his messy curls, golden skin, and that stunning smile.
The man chuckled, and that’s when Regulus realised his jaw had gone slack.
“Are you Regulus?” the man asked.
“Are you God?” Reg replied before he could stop himself. Mr. Beautiful started straight out laughing at that.
“Well, I’m your doctor, so kinda? I guess?” The doctor answered, inviting Regulus to the treatment room. “What happened?”
Regulus considered all of his options: tell the truth and sound like an alcoholic who gets himself into accidents, or come up with some lie.
Because he didn’t feel like he could come up with a good one, Regulus chose the first option.
“Oh, I’m going to embarrass myself as fuck,” he giggled, while the doctor, whose name he couldn’t quite read from the name tag on his scrubs, started cleaning the wound. “Wait, can you—can you stop moving for a second?” The doctor did what he was asked to do. Regulus reached for the little piece of plastic attached to the pocket on the doctor's chest and finally got what he wanted. Letting go of the man’s clothing, Regulus continued, “So, James, did your parents teach you how to ride a bike?”
The doctor, James, snorted, “Yes, Regulus, they taught me how to ride a bike; why?”
“Well, I thought mine did too, but today I realised they did a shitty job at it.” James erupted into laughter, taking a step back from Regulus. “What? I mean it! Look, if they taught me better, I probably wouldn’t be here!”
“That, or if you drank a little less,” the taller man huffed, coming back closer to Regulus. He knew the doctor was right, but he still felt the need to roll his eyes.
After a few minutes, James told him it looked really bad and they would need to stitch him up.
“If you're afraid I'll disfigure your face for the rest of your life, I can call someone else,” Regulus heard, and he responded with a dismissive hand gesture.
“Stitch away; I don’t mind. Besides, scares are kinda badass,” another round of chuckles.
“Alright, just don’t make me laugh while I do it, or you really will look bad when I’m done.”
Regulus could hear some metal things clicking against each other and could feel the fear creeping up his neck. He started scraping the nail polish off his nails, waiting for the worst. James must’ve noticed somehow, because he asked if Regulus felt alright.
One moment Regulus was staring at the overhead lamp, and the next there was a blue cloth covering his face.
“What the fuck?” he grumbled, grabbing at it. “Take it off; I can’t see shit.”
He could hear James sighing, and then his face came back into view. Regulus couldn’t help but smile at the sight.
“If you weren’t so funny, I would put them all on you,” the other man muttered, throwing away the blue thing. “Okay, since you’re under the influence, I can’t administer local anaesthesia, but you have enough piercings to know the feeling.”
“Yeah, and I certainly do not do them for the feeling,” he mumbled, putting his hands underneath his buttocks.
James grabbed a needle with medical thread already pulled through it. He lowered himself closer to Regulus’ face and looked up into his eyes.
“Ready?”
“I will never be, so just go. Please,” was all Regulus could choke out while looking into those deep hazel eyes that crinkled at the response, probably from the smile hidden under the mask.
James looked back down at Reg’s chin and placed the needle in the wound area. As it went in and out, creating the first stitch, Regulus could feel a tear rolling down his temple.
“You okay?” James asked, looking into his eyes again. This time, only a whimper came out of Regulus. “Don’t worry, just one more,” the doctor said in a soothing tone, his eyes softening.
The second time was the same yet worse—Regulus wanted to run as he felt the needle just near his face.
After that, James cleaned him up again and gave him instructions on how to treat the wound.
“See you in two weeks; I’ll take them off,” he said, handing the discharge from the hospital to Regulus.
I’m drunk, Reg thought to himself. If it goes south, I can blame it on the vodka.
“Why not in two days?” he said out loud.
James looked at him, puzzled. “Excuse me?”
Regulus cleared his throat. “Why wait two weeks when we can see each other sooner?”
“I can’t take the stitches sooner then—"
“Not to take off the stitches, doctor,” he said, smirking slightly.
James eyes went wide. For a moment that felt like hours, they sat in silence, just looking at each other, waiting.
When the silence stretched out a bit more, Regulus decided to abort the mission.
“You know what? I’m drunk; I should just—"
“Does Tuesday at 8:00 sound good?” James said at the same time. It took Regulus a few seconds to register what he just heard, but when it finally got to him, he positively beamed at James.
“Yeah,” he said, his eyes sparkling with excitement. “Yes, that sounds lovely.”
