Younger!Bruno AU, because I have no self-control
***
Félix knew, logically, that Pepa’s little brother had just turned eleven. He’d seen Bruno around, but only ever at a distance. The kid didn’t hang around much and when he was around he was usually with Alma, Julieta or Pepa. Never alone.
But now, up close, Bruno didn’t even look eleven. He looked younger; tiny and scrawny, with big green eyes like Pepa’s. He was standing slightly behind Pepa, peering up at Félix shyly, twisting his ruana between his hands.
“Brunito, say hello,” Pepa said. She took one of Bruno’s hands, gently detangling it from the ruana and grasping it reassuringly. Bruno mumbled, “Hola,” not quite looking at Félix properly.
The poor kid looked exhausted. Pepa had mentioned the latest few visions had taken a lot out of him.
Smiling, Félix held his hand out. “Good to meet you, hombrecito,” he said cheerfully. “I’m Félix.”
Bruno looked at his offered hand dubiously, like he wasn’t sure what it was. After a moment, he took Félix’s hand and shook it. For such a little guy, he had a good grip.
He really didn’t look eleven at all. Well, Félix knew the feeling: he’d always been mistaken for younger too. Still was sometimes, despite being sixteen and he was quite proud of his facial hair, thanks very much. He’d like to think that height didn’t matter, but he also knew all too well that some kids could be real jerks about it.
Bruno’s lips twitched up in a small, shy smile. “You too,” he said, still looking at the ground. Pepa beamed at them both, sunshine around her head. She let go of Bruno’s hand and Bruno stepped back again, but didn’t hide behind her this time.
Well, guess I’m looking after you now, Félix thought. Because even then, even in that first meeting, it was painfully obvious that Bruno needed someone on his side; someone who wasn’t a member of his family.
So Félix promised himself that, even if he and Pepa didn’t work out (though of course they would, they were soul mates, he was sure of it) he’d still keep an eye out for Bruno.
After all, everyone needed a friend. Shy little prophets were no exception.

Day 12 - Pressure
T for suggestive themes/intimacy, 322 words, Félix/Pepa
--
That Félix is naturally charming, the best father a kid could ever ask for, always inclined to turn a bad mood upside down, doesn't mean that his efforts are bottomless. Even he gets tired, frustrated, tense. Scared. Unsure. Even he, so to say, can be swayed by a hurricane.
He sits with his fingers pressed to his forehead at the desk in their room when Pepa comes up and hugs him from behind. Pepa has him to calm her storms; Félix has her to warm the hair on his head, the skin of his hands, his eyelids and his lips.
She whispers a sweet affection into the shell of his ear. Félix's mouth curls up, and at her words unbuttons his blouse, pulling it off.
She starts low on his back, running her hands over the wide expanse of his sturdy torso. He is not a supple man, but two thumbs circling low make him melt over the desk, low grumble of a pleased grin rumbling in his chest. "Hmm, that's the spot, Pepi."
She finds his tender spots easily. He works so hard, her poor man. He hums appreciatively when she works the knots out of his back, following the line of his spine until she reaches his shoulders and he is a puddle with his arms slumped in front of him, forehead pressed to the table.
"This stupid chair's in the way," Pepa murmurs as she pulls him back, her hands gripping around his thick shoulders. She buries her nose against the stubble of his jaw. Her breasts press against him, still far too covered in clothing.
Félix, who can't stand the idea of anything separating him from the woman who is his sunrise, very much agrees, and suddenly hates this chair as much as he hates not being entangled in his wife's limbs.
She leads him to the bed, his hands up her dress, with a long, deep kiss.

You make me rainbow
Encanto fanfic, shipping Pepa/Felix Madrigal
rated G, Words 920
The late teens
You can also read on AO3
Hi there! This is my very first attempt of an Encanto one-shot, shipping Felix/Pepa. I like their sparks and maybe I will give it another try, getting better in drabbling something for them in the future. However, I hope you enjoy this little innocent late teens fluff!
~~~
He did not seem to mind.
In fact, he was the only one who would not scold me for losing my temper and not handling it the better.
But why had it to be controlling the weather that I was gifted with? It was burdening at times. I mean, it is nice to produce sunshine, and everybody is happy to sunbath and play in the open with the warm rays tainting their skins and making them feel good.
But there were those days when I felt miserable, or tired, and then, the slightest incident made me explode and the result? A cloud, rain, or worse, thunderstorm….
And Mama would not tolerate it, frown at me, and tell me to calm down and relax.
But it was so difficult, and still, I wanted to please her, make her proud of me…
Maybe it would get better when I turned older, wiser, more known to life?
And that other day was no better.
And I had hoped that Mama would allow us Madrigal children to get tutored privately, not being exposed in public school. But she said that we get treated as all the other children and to mingle with them was important to get to know everybody in Encanto.
I felt embarrassed so many times. I mean, Julieta could easily heal a bruised knee on the schoolyard. She was making others feel better. Bruno was making the other kids go all obsessed with his adventurous visions. He was the mysterious guy with prophetic skills. They were magically gifted heroes. And me? When I got teased, I started raining, and then they laughed… Only when I then freaked out and showered the schoolyard with an unstoppable hail shower, everybody started screaming and running wildly inside. The result? I got scolded for risking the other kids catching a cold… It was a vicious circle.
I did not want to go to school. Until that one miraculous day.
I sat in class with drenched skirt and hair, once again, miserably glaring down on my desk, watching the raindrops crashing onto my book, and the lines got blurred. Certainly, my tears were not really helping to save the disaster, when I felt something warm, gently wrapping my shoulders, and I noticed a poncho covering my wet body.
“Hey, Pepa. It´s already autumn and you should not fetch a cold. You might suffer harder from a runny nose than any of us? I am worried for your health."
Felix!
He was such a dear. Always considerate and yet, not taken fully earnest himself because he was slightly chubby and rather small. Not necessarily the Don Juan from the fairy tales. But I did not care. Felix was genuinely a friend.
And I was no sleeping beauty, either…
Since then, Felix had walked me home, had helped me with physics since I did not get it. In return, I helped him with Spanish grammar. We were a good team and we understood each other so nicely.
And then, there was this day when our teacher announced a test. A test! About the physical terms of a rainbow. I hated it. I didn´t understand it. And everybody shook their head. I should be totally the professor on that topic. But I wasn´t, and it made me furious. In turn, I produced a thunderstorm, in the middle of the classroom.
Julieta tried to sooth me with her pie, Bruno tried to give me a pleasant prospect of my bright future where physics-test wouldn´t matter anymore. It did not help. I simply felt anxious, embarrassed, and frustrated. And most of all, misunderstood… And like always, everybody left me alone, out of sheer helplessness. Of course, I could not blame them, and I covered my face in my arms on my desk, the dark cloud above me my only companion.
“Hey!” a soft voice echoed through the wind in my ears and a gentle hand was stroking the back of my head, “you can do it. Remember how you explained to me the process of a rainbow near the riverbank on that sunny afternoon?”
Felix did it again. Only that I had no idea of how he did it. He calmed my nerves and temper only by… being there.
Instinctively I lifted my eyes, and the smile that I met was the kindest. My heart leaped and my belly flipped. And then I knew it. This man was the completion to my magic. The only one who made me handle it!
I brushed that nasty cloud away and smiled back at him.
Felix took my hand, and the touch was thrilling. I flung my arms around his neck and pecked a kiss to his soft cheek. It felt so nice, so… home.
“Thank you.”
“Pepa, don´t you know how lovely you are? You need not be so nervous. But know that I will always be there for you.”
“Oh…. Why? I am such a temper, and you risk of getting drenched.”
His smile captivating, he pecked a kiss directly onto my lips. It was incredible, and I felt like melting into that voluminous and yet so sturdy figure.
“Because I love you.” Felix shrugged shyly, but still running a finger along my cheekbone.
And then, everything seemed unimportant and the surroundings dissipating in meaninglessness. I was not aware at that moment what happened, but my complete core calmed, and my heart grew warm with… oh my gosh… love!
And then it appeared above us both… miraculously.
“Felix, you make me rainbow!”
I know this movie is recent-ish, but the lack of an Encanto series is still crazy to me.
Like, it doesn't even need crazy magical lore, it can be episodic, it's so simple:
Family dynamics not seen in the movie
Why doesn't Mirabel have a gift (theory of her being the next matriarch being the most obvious one)
Seeing the other rooms
Bruno's new interactions with the townspeople and the family
FERAL ISABELA!!!
Dolores and Mariano
Unexplored trauma with Dolores and Camilo, GET THEM THEIR SOLO SONGS!!!!
The dads' sides of the family
Abuela Alma trying to do better
Childhoods of the triplets
On that same note, how the couples met each other.
More on Alma and Pedro. Etc
And if you wanted new stuff, HAVE THEM OPEN THE ENCANTO TO LET MORE PEOPLE IN, new technology that Encanto doesn't have access to, new ideas and cultures - it can even bring drama if the new people try to do bad things and the family goes all x-men on them.
It's so many possibilities that if they never do it it's a damn shame.
my encanto analysis/headcanon that no one asked for
so, i was just looking through some encanto fanart and headcanons and came across this piece (artist: https://mobile.twitter.com/ye_enc):
Tumblr media
abuela had triplets - julieta, pepa, and bruno. both julieta and pepa had three kids - isabella, luisa, and mirabel for julieta, and dolores, camilo, and antonio for pepa.
what i noticed is that for each batch of three, each individual falls under a certain category, and it seems to follow by age.
julieta was, as this lovely fanart shows, likely depended on quite frequently for her ability to heal via her cooking. her gift would have been the most useful and therefore she likely would have been praised the most as “the perfect one”.
this, of course, next falls to isabella, who we see this with the most frequently. abuela very clearly is living the life she wished she could have lived through isabella, and is viewed as the perfect golden child by everyone around her.
dolores is a little different, but i believe she still fits the trope. she is basically the physical embodiment of “seen but not heard.” she keeps quiet on the things she knows would upset her family and doesn’t make herself heard, even when she is in pain, whether physical or emotional. she doesn’t tell anyone that she knows bruno has been living in the walls for the ten years he’s been missing; she doesn’t tell anyone about her feelings for mariano, because she knows that will upset abuela and her cousin’s “perfect for the encanto” arrangement; and one can only imagine how loud certain things are to her, that are endurable for us (fireworks, for example).
next are the middle children: pepa, luisa, and camilo. all of them have some kind of pressure on their shoulders. (and - just a fun thing i noticed - while luisa’s literal pressure is the many things she carries, pepa’s pressure is atmospheric pressure, because she controls the weather. but anyway, lol).
all three of these characters are told in one way or another to bottle up their emotions and keep them buried inside. with pepa, we see this very directly as she is constantly told by the other characters (especially abuela) to, as the fanart above shows, calm down and essentially turn off her emotions because of the damage she can cause with her weather powers. this kind of reminds me of the “conceal, don’t feel” thing that elsa had with her gloves. both pepa and elsa demonstrate the same growth throughout their movies, too - learning to accept themselves and their abilities and thus being able to control them instead of being controlled by them - but, i digress.
luisa, by contrast, is indirectly told to keep her emotions at bay. she is treated as something of a useful tool, both by the town and by abuela, and seen in a very masculine light despite her relatively feminine personality. because of this treatment and the expectation that she will always be strong that comes with it, she falls into the same category as pepa.
camilo, like dolores, is a little different, but still fits. we don’t see much of him in the movie, but i imagine he is depended on as being the funny one. if anyone reading this is into k-pop or bts, think of camilo as like the j-hope or the jin of the group. he’s always expected to be funny and smiling, lifting everyone else’s spirits - but who lifts his spirits?
and lastly, we have the youngest siblings - bruno, mirabel, and antonio. they fit into the roll, of course, of the scapegoat, of family disappointments.
bruno was rejected by the town and by his family, seen as a harbinger of chaos and horror, a bad omen - all because he can see the future, something that he obviously cannot control. but, of course, it’s easier to simply blame someone else than accept the truth or take responsibility for your own actions.
mirabel, of course, is treated in much the same way. she is seen as a bad omen, as well, and is quite literally feared to be the one who will destroy the family and the encanto, because of bruno’s vision.
antonio does not quite fit into this category, but i think if he had not gotten a gift, he would have been shunned in much the same way as bruno or mirabel. it can also be argued that his gift isn’t really very useful, and we can see abuela struggle for a moment to think of how they could put his gift to use at the breakfast at the beginning of the movie (”i told them to warm up your seat”).
anyway - this is all to say that each of the siblings in each of the batches of three appears to fill (or almost fill) the same rolls. i’m sure someone else has already noticed this and i’m just late to the party - but i thought it was cool.
Prompt: Felix and Bruno during Felix's first dinner at Casita (+ Felix and Pepa Obviously)
My boys 💕
Takes place in the “With The Dawn You Rise (With The Day You Blaze)” ‘verse
Tumblr media
It was rude to stare, so Félix wasn’t staring. He was just glancing and doing his best to be subtle about it.
Bruno was plainly ill. Julieta had taken one look at him and her smile dropped, Agustín just winced in sympathy and tried to keep his voice down.
Bruno was way too pale. There were dark circles under his eyes, he kept wincing at every sound, rubbing at his forehead or eyes.
“You should be in bed,” Pepa had said before dinner even started.
Bruno had whispered his answer, but Félix still heard him: “Mamá won’t let me.”
Whatever was wrong, Julieta couldn’t fix it, otherwise Bruno would have been fine after one bite of dinner. But he wasn’t fine. He should have been back in bed.
Alma kept up polite conversation and Félix did his best to answer her questions, to mind his manners and overall impress her…Yet part of him didn’t want to impress her either.
She hadn’t even looked at Bruno. It was like she didn’t see how unwell he was at all!
She was Pepa’s mother, the leader of the Encanto, the holder of the Miracle. Félix should want her approval and respect. And he did. He was just a little annoyed too.
Who cared if one Madrigal missed dinner? Félix could always have met Bruno later. You know, when the guy could actually hold a conversation or didn’t look like death.
Maybe halfway through dinner, Bruno mumbled something and fled the table. Pepa half-rose from her seat, her cloud making an appearance.
“Pepa,” Alma said. “You have a cloud.”
Pepa gulped. With a heavy sigh, the cloud vanished. She still didn’t sit down.
That did it.
Félix stood and did his best to smile at Alma. “I’ll go check on him,” he said.
“Oh, you’re a guest,” Alma said. She began to stand. “You don’t need to-”
But Félix was already out the door. Forget manners.
He found Bruno sitting on the stairs, hunched over. His breathing was ragged and his hands were tangled in his hair. Casita’s floor rattled and Félix, new to this as he was, swore he could feel the house’s concern.
“Hey.” He made sure to whisper as he sat next to Bruno. “Is there anything I can get you to help?”
Bruno didn’t open his eyes. He just waved a hand in dismissal and mumbled, “I’m fine.”
Félix would take that as a no.
“You should go back to dinner,” Bruno continued. “I’m fine, sorry for causing a scene.”
God, was that what he thought?
Félix stayed put. He’d taken one look at the guy earlier and thought, Oh well, guess I’m looking after you now. No time like the present, right?
“I’m good here,” he said, lounging on the stairs and making sure to sound cheerful and careless. “We can head back in when you’re ready.”
im very much sure someone already pointed this out before and we all know how everything mirabel mentioned she'd do in waiting on a miracle, she was actually able to do it in the end, but these two scenes just really emphasize it
similar positions, same pride and happiness in her family's eyes, and even in the first pic, there's a space for bruno!!
like, damn, she really set out to do what she said she'd do
and her desperation and longing in the first pic…in the end, she got what she wanted and more
god i love this movie
sister (heh) posts:
surface pressure what else can i do sister angst
