“He’ll be here y/n, just relax,” Zoe reassured, rubbing Y/N’s upper back.
Y/N nodded but regretted it as her vision blurred even more. She took several desperate breaths as a tingling feeling set into her muscles.
“Even if not, you have to go out there, it’s your turn,” Mia remarked, gently pushing Y/N closer to Y/H/N.
Y/N closed her eyes as she tried to get her body to stop whatever it was doing.
It was like she didn’t have control over it; everything felt overwhelming and chaotic.
Her limbs felt tingly and heavy despite the spinning in her head making her otherwise feel as if she were loose and floating.
She could barely see through the fuzzy coating her brain was claiming was before her eyes.
Something was wrong, really wrong.
But, y/n was so confused and fatigued that she couldn’t place what it was.
She felt as if she was forgetting something, but couldn’t figure out what.
Y/N had gone over her routine countless times in the last 24 hours.
Mia was sure to check Y/N’s uniform for any imperfections.
The others had all offered her their encouragement prior to taking their seats in the arena.
Well, everyone but her boyfriend Pin.
That’s what she figured was causing this.
Pin was always there for her.
Or he had been.
But she hadn’t seen him today.
She knew he had work to do, and they’d had a disagreement yesterday afternoon.
But she assumed he would still be here.
He told her he would be.
Yet, he hadn’t shown.
Several of their friends had gone off to find him, trying to reassure Y/N that her boyfriend would never intentionally miss this.
While she was anxious and disappointed he wasn’t there to help, it was more than that.
The couple was always good at keeping each other level headed and ensuring they took care of themselves, even when things were difficult or important.
Perhaps if he were here she’d be able to pinpoint what was causing this feeling.
She was fairly certain she’d had enough water today; something Pin always got on her about.
Y/N couldn’t recall how much she drank, but Jade had brought her a water when these symptoms first set in.
Besides, she was used to anxiety; this was more than that.
“What she means to say is, you’ll do great, you have us here for you!” Susie smiled, resting a hand on Y/N’s arm as she took her place next to Y/H/N.
“Thank you, I’m just…” Y/N whispered breathily, feeling lightheaded, “whew… okay, we’ve got t-this, huh Y/H/N?”.
Gaby and Zoe cheered and nodded, pointing towards the arena.
Y/N mounted Y/H/N in a very atypically shaky manner.
Becky ran in, her hair covered in dirt and leaves, glancing up at Y/N and giving her a thumbs up as she caught her breath.
Pin was here?
Y/N felt her anxiety lower, but her symptoms remained.
She forced a grateful smile, but Jade, who Y/N hadn’t seen enter behind Becky, gave her a questioning look.
“Are you okay?” Jade questioned her friend, rubbing the muzzle of Y/H/N.
“Y-yeah, I think I’m just…” y/n mumbled, gripping the reins in her hands tighter.
“Pin is here, that’s what you wanted. Now, get on with it,” Mia huffed in annoyance.
Susie chastised Mia for that statement, reminding her of her own nerves moments ago.
Meanwhile, Y/N tried to focus on the friendly comments from the others.
But, she was having a hard time even hearing what was being said, let alone processing that information.
Y/n believed she mumbled a ‘thank you’ before signaling for her horse to start making their way to the arena.
Y/n instantly regretted the movement.
The even and rhythmic bumping of y/h/n’s trot that was always a relief, was now making her feel even less focused.
She wasn’t even aware she’d made it to the main center of the arena until she heard her name being announced.
Y/n moved her heavy eyes left, seeing what she believed to be a blurry Pin.
If she’d been able to see clearly, she would’ve seen the concern in Pin’s eyes; and the way his father, Ted, was holding him back from rushing over to her.
As the judges asked what y/n and y/h/n would be doing for their audition, she opened her mouth but nothing came out.
Pin shot a look over at Marcus, who had already turned to look over at Pin.
Neither one had seen her like this before.
“Miss Y/L/N?” One of the judges called out, the question echoing in Y/N’s head.
Squeezing her eyes shut, Y/N forced the words out of her lips.
Only, unbeknownst to her, the words weren’t audible or intelligible enough for anyone to be able to comprehend.
Pin removed his father’s hand from his chest as Ted had continued to hold him back from rushing towards the course.
Pin stepped closer to the barrier, his face etched in fear and confusion.
Y/N pleaded with herself to stop panicking, needing the spinning and shakiness to stop.
In an attempt to steady herself so she wouldn’t fall off, y/n squeezed y/h/n slightly with her calves.
But it was enough for Y/H/N to take it as a sign to begin.
As Y/H/N took off, the audience fell silent.
Y/N however could hear every faint sound echoing loudly in her mind, her vision now gone, brain only visualizing a blank space with static and pulsing sounds reverberating inside.
Pin yelled for someone to stop Y/H/N the second he saw Y/N’s eyes close, body starting to go limp.
It took Marcus a moment to realize she wasn’t closing her eyes of her own volition, rather she’d passed out.
Marcus rushed into the ring, right behind Pin.
But they weren’t fast enough, as y/h/n had understandably attempted to continue the routine and therefore leapt upwards to jump over a bar.
Y/h/n would have stopped earlier but y/N’s body had slouched forward some, which helped her stay on.
Pin shouted as he watched y/N’s feet slip out from the stirrups as her body went completely limp and she fell off of y/h/n mid-jump.
The whole fainting incident lasted less than one minute, but Pin saw it in slow motion.
Y/N’s eyes opened just as her body slammed into the ground.
Marcus rushed to guide y/h/n back to the stables while Pin dropped to his knees beside her.
“Hey, hey,” Pin panicked, his eyes scanning her for an explanation.
She blinked slowly at him, confused as to how she ended up in this position.
“No, don’t” he said, holding her down so she couldn’t sit up, “we need to figure out if you’ve hurt your spine first”.
She squinted slightly, wiggling her arms and fingers in hopes of fixing the numbness and tingling sensation in them.
“Do you remember your name?” Pin questioned, staring intently at her.
“Y-y/n” she answered, her confusion as to why she was being asked was evident.
Pin relaxed a little as he brushed some fair from her face.
“Why am I on the ground?” She whispered, gazing into his eyes.
Pin stroked her cheek, fingertips unclipping her chin strap as he held her head in his hands, “You passed out”.
She stared at him in confusion as she tried to understand what he was saying to her.
“Y/n, love, what happened? Did you feel something before it happened?” Pin questioned, slowly moving his hands as he checked the nerves in her neck and upper back.
Y/n let out shaky breaths as she tried to respond without crying.
She wasn’t even sure why she was wanting to cry, but she just knew she felt horrible.
“Shhh okay, don’t talk yet, it’s okay” Pin promised, “we’ll figure it out, you’re going to be okay..”
Y/n slowly moved one of her shaky hands to grab Pin’s arm as more people started crowding them.
Pin gave her a sympathetic smile despite his concern and kept checking her nerves.
“I - I don’t feel good” she let out weakly, “Pi-Pin, something… something’s… wr-wrong. Some-“.
He nodded rapidly, moving his hands to her face “I know babe, I know. I’ve got you. We’re going to help figure this out, I promise”.
Y/n attempted to squeeze his arm, but it felt more like a tap due to her frail muscles.
Pin looked up at his father, who nodded and pointed to his phone to signal he’d already begun calling for help.
Pin turned back to y/n and caressed her check, “do you want to try sitting up?”
She whispered a pathetic yes and dizzily began to lean forward.
He quickly supported her back, helping her to sit up.
“What are you feeling, y/n/n?” He asked, holding her up.
She squeezed her eyes shut with a small groan , “I’m -re-really dizzy, like… ver-verti-“.
“Vertigo?” Pin offered.
“Yeah” she whimpered, eyes watering.
Pin frowned, arching his body around hers so he could still hold her up in a sitting position but could look into her eyes.
“Y/n/n sweetheart, it’s okay, you’re going to be okay” he soothed, his eyes checking her pupils for any signs of a concussion.
“It doesn’t…, I’m not…it doesn’t feel- it’s not…right… I’ve never-“ she mumbled incoherently.
Pin nodded, understanding that even if she had a concussion, that wasn’t what she was predominately experiencing.
He knew it didn’t explain her fainting suddenly.
But, given her hard fall, he wanted to make sure she didn’t get a concussion as a result.
“Okay love, that’s okay, you’re okay,” he rambled, “Here, head down towards your lap, yeah?”
She silently obeyed as he guided her to arch her back until her head was lowered, helping the blood flow easier.
“Is she okay?” Someone asked.
“Does she look okay Maddie?” Someone else responded.
Y/n squeezed her boyfriend’s free hand as she tried to mentally silence all the voices talking about her.
Pin’s eyes finally left y/n when Marcus began asking people to step back and stop recording.
His eyes turned from worried to silently furious as he noticed how crowded it had gotten.
He felt guilty knowing the crowd and voices he now picked up on likely made her vertigo worse and yet he was just now seeing it.
His mind had been so focused on helping her and seeing if she was physically okay that he hadn’t even noticed or heard the spectators.
His father sighed and tried to give Pin a look to signal for him to calm down, but to no avail.
Pin squeezed y/N’s hand once before briefly diverting his attention.
He glanced over Marcus and their friends who were trying to shield her so she could have space and privacy.
“Marcus!” Pin shouted over his shoulder in frustration; feeling slightly guilty for yelling.
“I know, working on it mate” Marcus responded as he increased his attempts to push the crowd of spectators back.
Pin took a stiff deep breath as he worked to keep his frustrations in check.
Once Marcus was able to get a few people to start moving away, more followed suit.
Pin sighed in relief before looking back at his girl.
“Hey, hey, head down, love” he said, frowning when he saw she’d looked up and over towards where he’d been staring.
She hummed in agreement as she slowly lowered her head back to her lap, trying to grip his arm to relieve the weird feeling in her fingers.
“I’m here darling, medics are on the way, just stay with me…, can you do that?” Pin asked, rubbing her back softly.
“Yes” she said, her right hand palming the ground as she tried to get rid of the sensation still lingering on that side.
Soon, Ted noticed his son’s concern over what she was doing and joined her other side. “You’re alright kiddo, just keep breathing,” he encouraged shyly as he held her right hand.
She let out a sigh of relief now that she had something to grip in order to make the feeling return to her fingers, ceasing the tingling sensation.
Pin gave his father a thankful nod over y/N’s back as he tried to think of causes. “How much water have you had?” he asked, looking towards their friends.
“She said she had some throughout the day, and I made sure she got a bottle when she started feeling off,” Jade informed him.
“You’ve been feeling off? For how long?” Pin asked, concern lacing his voice.
“J-just a.. bi-bit” she answered, wiggling her toes in an attempt to return feeling to them as well.
“Do you want a pillow?” Susie asked, seeing how y/n was craning her neck.
“Where are you going to find a pillow?” Mia responded.
“I don’t know, I-“ Susie argued but stopped when Pin abruptly stood.
Their friends watched in confusion as he stripped off his jacket.
He folded it up into a pile and placed it on her lap, adding some support below her head.
“Thank you P-Pin” she softly spoke, voice muffled by his jacket.
He nodded, “‘Course love. Shouldn’t be much longer okay?”
He looked over at his father who merely nodded and pointed towards the side door.
The medics had finally arrived.
Pin sighed in relief as he waved them over.
Marcus jogged to meet them and explain what they knew so far.
“Love, they’re here. Everything’s going to be fine,” Pin promised, squeezing her hand.
“Alright miss y/l/n, I hear you’ve lost consciousness?” One of the medics asked.
Y/n merely hummed in agreement as she felt a small bead of sweat roll down her forehead towards her nose.
“Keeping your head down was the right step to help, but I’m going to need to see your face now, okay?” The medic asked.
Y/n slowly lifted her head, Pin helping hold her neck steady.
He unintentionally let out a sigh of relief at how much better she already looked.
“She’s got color back in her face,” Becky said happily.
Y/n glanced at Pin, who merely smiled softly at her and nodded.
“Has this ever happened to you before?” The medic wondered.
“No, I- … oh… wow I’m sorry babe…” y/n said looking at her lap, “I didn’t realize I was sweating so much”.
Pin shook his head, not bothered in the slightest by the dark spot on his jacket, “I don’t care about the jacket darling, you’re okay”.
She gave him a half smile before looking back at the medical staff.
“This hasn’t happened?” The medic repeated.
“Not like this, I’ve… I’ve gotten some of it before but not this bad” she tried to explain, still foggy, “never fainted. Did I really faint?”
“You did love. I’m not sure why though” Pin informed her, his fear still running through his voice.
“Oh” she whispered, staring straight ahead, trying to make sense of it all.
“When this has happened before, albeit not to this level, what was the cause, do you know?” The man asked.
Y/n didn’t even hesitate as she answered, her voice showing she was clearly still in a haze, “my blood sugar.”
Pin froze, her blood sugar?
How long had that been an issue?
And why wasn’t he aware?
He could’ve helped.
The medic looked up at him for an explanation, and Pin felt even worse.
How did he not know this about his girlfriend?
What if she hadn’t woken and he couldn’t tell the medics how to help her?
“Do you have diabetes?” The medic asked.
“No” she said, blinking as she tried to focus back on the moment.
“Let’s test her levels” another medic suggested, getting out his pack.
“I have a gluc- a test thing” she supplied, unable to think clearly enough to form the word she wanted, “in my bag”.
Pin was even more confused.
How long had it been acting up that she had to carry a meter on her?
And why hadn’t she told him?
Maybe if he hadn’t fought with her the other day, she would have told him.
“That’s alright we have one here” the medic responded, reaching for her hand.
Pin’s father let go of her right hand so Pin didn’t have to release his hold on y/n.
As one of the medics cleansed her finger tip, the other continued to ask clarifying questions.
“You’re not diabetic? So what type of blood sugar issues is it?” The second medic questioned.
“Hypogly-“ she mumbled, groaning as she pulled her hand from both Pin and the medic as she began to hold her head, “hypoglce-“
“Hypoglycemia,” Pin cut in, concluding her attempted statement.
“Is it starting again?” Pin asked, holding her head still.
“I.. I'm just still dizzy,” she whispered.
The first medic medic interrupted and instructed, “Let’s lay her down, she’s less likely to pass out again if she’s horizontal.”
Pin frantically helped lower her to her back, then onto her side.
The first medic grabbed her hand and initiated a finger prick.
Pin shut his eyes tightly as he waited for the meter to beep that her results were back.
It was only a few seconds, but he felt them drag on and on.
“Bloody hell,” One of the medics huffed, dropping the meter and reaching back into his bag.
Pin squeezed y/n’s hand in his as the medic drew a bright orange case from his bag, withdrawing a needle and vial from inside.
“This will help for now, but you’ll feel a pinch,” he said as he dispensed the dose before leaning over her arm.
The medic inserted the needle and administered the medicine as the other checked her vitals again.
“Let’s head out, she's good to transport now” the man said.
Y/n squeezed Pin’s hand tightly.
“I’m not leaving you, I’m here y/n, I promise” he swore, squeezing it back.
“We’ll check in with you guys soon,” Mia stated.
“Yeah, good luck,” Jade added.
“Keep us updated “ Becky pleaded.
~~~~~~~~~~~
Pin’s father found his son pacing the halls of the hospital.
“What is it?” He asked.
Pin shook his head, looking up to see his father had arrived.
There was only room for one person in the transport, so Ted followed behind in his personal vehicle.
“They’re still running tests,” Pin mumbled.
“Okay, son, she’s alright” his father tried.
“She- she could’ve! She-” he panicked, running his hand through his hair, “why…? Why wouldn’t she tell me?”.
His father sighed, “I don’t know Pin. Sometimes people keep things private for reasons that aren’t related to us.”
Pin scoffed and shook his head as he continued his pacing. “I should’ve known, if I’d have known-“ he argued.
“Pin, even if you had, you couldn’t have stopped this” his father consoled.
“I might’ve if I was there. But I wasn’t.” he scolded himself, “I was too upset that she’d been focusing so hard on this that I didn’t even see what it was doing to her! Not to mention if I had shown up earlier today I could’ve made sure she was eating and drinking and-“.
“Pin, we don’t know that that had anything to do with it”.Ted tried.
Pin shook his head, “I ca-I can’t lose her”.
His father saw the well of tears in his son's eyes and frowned.
Ted squeezed his son’s shoulder, “I know Pin. But you won’t. She’s just on the other side of that door, she will be okay”.
Pin nodded slowly, aggressively scrubbing his hands across his face, “it was really low… I… she looked so so sick, even after she came to.”
Ted stepped closer, pulling his son to his chest. “She’s going to be fine. You both will. She’s going to need you though, so try to stay calm”.
Pin let his tears roll down his face as he nodded, “You’re right”.
~~~~~~~~~~~
“Pin?” Y/n’s tiny voice croaked out as her eyes landed on her boyfriend seated beside her.
Pin sucked in a breath of air as his lips curled into a small smile, “hey love”.
“Ar-were you crying?” She asked, her hand squeezing his.
He gave her a soft smile and nodded, “I jus-… I was worried”.
She frowned and sighed, “I’m sorry”.
Pin shook his head, “I just needed to hear your voice and see those eyes.. you’re alright?”
Y/n smiled and nodded slowly, reaching out her free hand to stroke his sharp jawline, “I’m safe, and healthy again, I’m okay”.
He let out a breath of relief and held her hand against his face, kissing her palm, “Good”.
“I really am sorry baby, I-…” she sighed, sitting up.
Pin stood, moving closer to her head, “don’t overdo it, please”.
“I won’t. I just wanna sit up though” she promised, smiling at her boyfriend as he adjusted the hospital bed to allow her to do so.
Once she was sitting, Pin sat back down beside her, not letting go of her hand.
“I didn’t know I was going to pass out,” she whispered, looking at the IV tube in the back of her hand.
Pin sighed softly, stroking her hand with his thumb, “It hasn’t happened before?”
Y/n shook her head and gave him a small frown.
“But you have had blood sugar problems before?” he questioned.
Y/n sighed and nodded, “I get hypoglycemic crashes randomly. It’s not because of diabetes or anything. It’s just how my body is”.
Pin bit his lip as he listened to her explain, his mind running through any possibly relevant medical information he knew.
“Do you know why you have these crashes?” He asked.
“Not really. Hormones impact it of course, so does stress. But, stress increases one’s blood sugar so I shouldn’t even have had a hypoglycemic crash today” she groaned.
“Is that why you pushed through it?” Pin wondered.
“Maybe? I don’t know. I think by the time I noticed it was happening it was too late; I was already foggy and confused. I think the stress just made my confusion worse when I thought of other reasons for my symptoms” she told him.
Pin hummed and stared into her eyes as he tucked her hair behind her ear, “I should’ve been there”.
“Pin-” she sighed.
He shook his head, “If I had, you’d have less possible explanations to blame, and we could’ve figured this out together-”.
“Pin Hawthorne, stop. You were there when I needed you to be,” she said softly.
“No I wasn’t. I was selfish and jealous that you’d been spending time with Marcus. I know it was for training, but I still got jealous and we fought. I shouldn’t have let my insecurities impact us-” he rambled.
Y/n interrupted, “That’s not how this works, love. We talk about these things, we don’t let them simmer. Okay? You have nothing to worry about with Marcus; I’m in love with you and only you, Pin. Jealous or not, I was prioritizing my audition over everything else far too much. I’m sorry, but we’re okay now. Right?” She asked, blinking at him.
He nodded rapidly, “of course. We already were, I was just stubborn”.
She chuckled and smirked, “nothing new.”
Pin laughed and shook his head, “You’re not mad I wasn’t there? ‘Cause I am. Sick or not, I wish I’d been there”.
She squeezed his hand, “You will be next time. I’m just glad you are here now and that you were there when it happened”.
Pin nodded, leaning closer to lay his head on her shoulder as he took a deep breath, “I am too”.
“I’m sorry you had to see it, I’m sure it wasn’t … enjoyable. But, I was so scared, Pin. I-I…I… I’d never felt like that before and-“ she sniffled, resting her forehead on his head, “it was a lot. I didn’t know what to do. But as soon as I saw you it was like it didn’t even matter. Despite all the chaos in my head, I knew I would be okay, because you were there”.
Pin tilted his head back to look up at her, eyes watery as he gave her a smile, “I will always be there. Why haven’t you mentioned this before?”
“I had it under control… or I thought I did,” she whispered.
“You told me I couldn’t hide things just because they might dampen the mood, I need the same from you, y/n/n” Pin requested.
“Okay” she agreed.
“Next time, if you feel it dropping at all, you call me okay?” Pin asked, thumb running across her bottom lip.
“Alright, I’m sorry” y/n told him.
He shook his head softly, thumb still playing with her delicate lips, “We’re okay. You’re okay. That’s all that matters.”
She hummed and pulled him back down to her, lips pressed to the crown of his head as he hugged her.
~~~~~~~~~~~
“How are you feeling now y/n?” Ted asked as he entered her hospital room.
She smiled softly up at him before looking over at her boyfriend, “I’m good, thank you sir.”
Pin shook his head, a small smirk on his lips, “You don’t need to keep calling him sir.”
Ted laughed softly, “He’s right. Regardless, I’m glad to see you both doing better.”
Y/n hummed, squeezing Pin’s hand lovingly.
Pin smiled at her, pressing a kiss to her forehead, pleased it was no longer clammy. “Any news from the doctors?” he asked, looking over at his father.
“Did they say when I could leave?” Y/n followed up, hoping it was soon.
Pin glanced at her and shook his head faintly in amusement before turning back to Ted.
“Yes, they will be in soon. And no, they didn’t say when,” Ted answered, sitting down in the chair at the opposite side of the room.
It was then that y/n saw the crowded countertop.
She raised an eyebrow in confusion, “What is all of that?”
Pin chuckled, “You had a lot of us worried, people wanted to share their support.”
Ted nodded, “There’s more at the castle, too. Pin suggested we start moving the new deliveries there so it would be easier when you are cleared to leave”.
Y/n smiled, nodding as she turned to look at Pin who was biting his lip.
“Honey, why the castle?” She questioned knowingly.
Pin blushed and rubbed his neck, “It’s away from everyone, and Arthur will be there to help me take care of you.”
Y/n smiled softly, reaching out to cup his face, “That’s not necessary, handsome. Very sweet, but not necessary”.
Pin pouted slightly, “I know it is probably overkill, but I’d really appreciate it if you would stay at the castle with me for a few days my love.”
Y/n leaned to the side, pressing a tender kiss to his lips, his hand finding her hair.
“I will, you know I’d follow you anywhere, I just don’t want you thinking I need that, or that life. I’m not with you because you have a castle or a butler, I don’t need that” she reiterated, peering into his eyes.
“I just need you, Pin” she confessed, tracing shapes on his cheek, “I don’t need a duke. I need my moody horse boy.”
Pin blushed deeply, delicately pulling her face back to his, his lips pressing against hers, “you have me, my darling. But, you are resting in the castle, it’s much warmer and safer”.
She giggled and kissed his nose before laying back against the hospital bed.
Ted smiled to himself as he watched his lovesick son and his son’s equally lovesick girlfriend comfort each other.
~~~~~~~~~~~
“So, in sum, your blood sugar was dangerously low,” the doctor explained, “but, it was a whirlwind of events that caused you to faint. While the blood sugar eventually would have done it had it not increased, you experienced what we call a vasovagal response”.
Pin pursed his lips as he closed his eyes, making y/n confused.
She squeezed his hand, holding it to her chest.
“Essentially, your heart rate and blood pressure dropped too suddenly. This is often caused by stress” the doctor added.
Y/n then understood why Pin was acting the way he was at the explanation.
“Pin, it’s not your fault,-“ y/n softly spoke.
Before he could argue, the doctor agreed, “Given the details surrounding the event, I must agree. While impossible to determine precisely the trigger, things like standing for too long, heat exhaustion, overworking or straining your muscles, dehydration, etcetera, can cause responses like this.”
“See, “ she argued.
Pin huffed slightly, still feeling as if he were slightly to blame; he could’ve prevented most of those factors.
“Now, take those factors and add in malnutrition and/or low blood sugar, such as you had, and it is easy to see how this happened,” the doctor said.
“What do we do from here?” Pin asked, staring intently at the man.
The doctor set his notepad to hand Pin a pamphlet, “Miss y/l/n must maintain healthy levels of blood sugar as much as possible and limit the factors we discussed. She’ll be just fine, but her body needs to rest for a day or two in order to bounce back. Should you feel faint again, lie down promptly to avoid losing consciousness again. Other than that, it’s unlikely to happen again if the factors are mitigated,” he assured.
“Thank you sir,” y/n said.
“Yes, thank you. Is there anything else we should know? She’ll be staying with us for the next few days at least” Ted informed.
Pin held up the pamphlet in his hand as a response to his father.
“That handout will discuss hypoglycemia management and treatment, should it drop again. Other than that, just ensure she rests, and it’ll be over soon,” the doctor answered.

“We should update your emergency contact while you wait for your discharge forms” the nurse instructed as she disconnected y/n’s IV line.
“Oh yeah, probably” y/n laughed, looking over at Pin.
“I called your mum, but it went to voicemail. I can try again” Pin said softly.
Y/n shook her head, “She’s probably still asleep.”
Her mother had returned to America after the summer but allowed y/n to remain.
Zoe’s mum had offered to check in on y/n and watch over her, even offering her a place to stay.
After much debate, y/n’s mom let her stay with them.
However after Gaby moved in, things became tense in the house between Zoe and Gaby; making y/n feel uncomfortable.
As such, she’d been staying at her late aunt’s house; the house her mother had traveled to the area to make arrangements with upon the passing of y/N’s aunt.
That’s how y/n ended up meeting everyone at Bright Fields, having joined her mother that summer.
They settled on keeping the house as it was important to her aunt and her mother found it a distant connection to her recently lost sister.
Y/n had begun to repair, with Pin’s help, the house upon leaving Zoe’s.
By now it was completely functional and safe, but that didn’t mean her mother would be pleased to learn of the change in her residency.
Nor did it mean Pin wanted her to be sleeping somewhere alone after today.
Even before today's events, Pin worried about her living alone as they were all still fairly young.
He tried to arrange for y/n to room at Holloway, since she’d declined to move in with Pin and his father, but she’d rejected that idea, saying Callum made her uncomfortable.
It had only been a few weeks, and she assured Pin and Ted that Zoe and Gaby would sort things out soon and she would then return to their home.
Pin nodded at his girlfriend, rubbing her hand.
“I see here that the last time you were in was nearly a year ago, in the summer…, and I show your mum is listed as the emergency contact. Is that still correct?” The nurse asked.
“Uh no, that wouldn’t be very useful,” y/n admitted with a small laugh.
The nurse nodded, “Okay, who would you like as a primary emergency contact?”.
Y/n stared at Pin, who blushed and smiled softly.
“Is there an age restriction or any other rule?” Y/n questioned.
“Yes and no. You can have whomever, but you will need an adult to agree with the discharge plans,” the nurse explained.
She glanced over at Ted.
Ted nodded kindly, “Of course. You can list me, or I have Maggie’s number if you want to put her.”
Pin smiled at his father over y/N’s shoulder in appreciation.
“Thank you, s-Ted” y/n chuckled, “I’ll put Pin and you down, then”.
Pin blushed and kissed her hand, honored to be chosen.
Ted nodded and helped the nurse update the contact information.
“You didn’t need to do that love,” Pin whispered, playing with her hair.
“I know, but I trust you two the most. And I want you there if something were to happen. I’d need you” she shyly admitted.
Pin chuckled softly, tilting her head up so he could place a tender kiss on her lips.
~~~~~~~~~~~
“I know it’s been a lot today,” Pin whispered as he guided her to the main bedroom of his castle, “and I don’t want you to feel like this is me pressuring you into staying here, or like I see it as moving in or anything, I just need to kno-“ he said, opening the bedroom door.
“Pin, babe,” she smiled, bracing his bicep, “it’s okay. I don’t feel pressured. And I’m glad to know I have you here with me”.
Pin blushed and nodded, grabbing her hand as he pulled her inside.
~~~~~~~~~~~
“Pin” y/n giggled trying to grab his hand as he continued to fluff her pillows.
“Pin, Pin, honey, hey, come here,” she said, pulling at his wrist, “sit down.”
Pin complied, sitting next to y/n and brushing hair from her forehead, “What is it, sweetheart?”
“I think you’ve poked and prodded those pillows enough, just come lay down with me, hmm?” She asked.
Pin smiled and blushed, “In a moment darling, I need to grab a few things.”
Y/n pouted but nodded, letting Pin tuck her back under the blankets before he excused himself.
~~~~~~~~~~~
“Is that Elvis I hear?” Y/n asked, looking across the room at the window as Pin entered.
“Elvis and y/h/n, yes” pin answered, setting a tray on the bedside table.
“Is (s)he okay?” Y/n pondered, “I didn’t even think to check on him/her, (s)he's pro-“.
Pin shushed her kindly, “Darling, don’t fret. Y/h/n is perfectly fine. Tomorrow morning we can walk out and see him/her, let him/her know you’re okay too”.
Y/n hummed and smiled over at him as she looked away from the window.
“What’s all of that?” She questioned, eyes scanning the variety of items he’d brought in.
“Arthur made some tea, he’s much better at it than I am,” Pin chuckled shyly, “but I also got you some water and these lollies should help if your levels drop.”
Y/n smiled and nodded, “That sounds perfect thank you, handsome.”
Pin blushed, “My dad went to get some more test strips to check your levels since your kit was running low, and Arthur is working on dinner.”
She grabbed his hand, “Thank you for managing all of that. Now, your highness, please join your girlfriend as she’s in need of cuddles.”
Pin blushed and gave her a soft glare, “Don’t call me that.”
She chuckled and rolled her eyes, “Fine, but I do need cuddles.”
Pin grinned and slid in next to her, “Anything for you.”
“Please miss y/l/n, stop thanking me,” Arthur requested as he cleared her and Pin’s plates from the dinner he’d brought them.
Y/n bit her lip and nodded, snuggling into Pins arms as the butler left.
“How are you feeling y/n?” Pin asked, looking down at her as she rested against his chest.
“Sleepy, but in a good way,” she explained as she saw Pin begin to panic.
“Are you wanting to sleep?” he wondered.
She nodded, sinking down under the covers more.
“Did you want to change first?” he asked, pointing towards the closet where Arthur had hung the clothes Ted picked up from her house earlier.
She shook her head with a yawn, but then paused, “Wait, a sweater sounds nice.”
Pin nodded and promptly raised from the bed, heading to grab the sweater.
“Better?” he asked as she sipped on some tea, her hands now covered by the sweater material.
“Much” she sighed as she set the tea back down, a smile on her lips.
Pin grinned, pleased she was doing better.
“Good, now it’s time for you to rest,” Pin said, pulling the blanket up to her chest.
“Aren’t you staying in here with me?” she asked quietly.
Pin blushed and rubbed his neck.
“I wasn’t sure if you wanted- yeah, of course.” He smiled.
She beamed and snuggled back into him as he laid beside her, “My moody horse boy.”
~~~~~~~~~~~
“Nope,” Pin laughed, shaking his head.
Y/n frowned. “Why not?”
“We said relaxing and low stress activities, love,” he reminded her.
She nodded, “I could read for a bit, but I didn’t think to have Ted grab my book when he stopped by my house”.
Pin hummed and kissed the top of her head.
“I can check the castle’s library, or there are plenty of letters addressed to you that you could read.” He offered.
Y/n raised an eyebrow, “Really?”
Pin nodded and laughed, “I told you, the whole town was concerned. They started sending them to the stables where my father picked them up. Want to see them?”
She nodded and pulled the blanket into her lap as she adjusted her posture.
~~~~~~~~~~~
“These are so sweet” y/n whispered, holding yet another kind letter up for her boyfriend to read.
Pin smiled as he quickly read the note, his attention more on y/N’s happiness than the letter itself.
“They love you, “ he said, rubbing her arms.
She shook her head shyly, “I didn’t even finish my audition.”
Pin kissed her ear, “Doesn’t matter. They know how talented you are. And more importantly, they know that you have a huge heart.”
Y/n blinked up at him through her eyelashes, “Thank you, Pin”.
He hummed, kissing her nose, “I know you’re disappointed with the outcome, but I’m sure you’ll get it next year. What’s important to me - and the town, clearly - is that you’re okay”.
She turned in his arms, moving until she was straddling him.
“I am Pin, and it’s because of you. I'm sorry I worried you so much, but I appreciate you taking care of me” y/n whispered.
~~~~~~~~~~~
The next day the couple went on a short ride around the castle’s yard.
She’d barely tied y/h/n to the post when she felt arms around her.
Y/n smiled to herself and turned around, wrapping hers around Pin in response.
“Hey what’s wrong?” she asked, seeing the glassy look in Pin’s eyes.
He shook his head with a dorky smile of his lips, “I love you, you know that?”.
Y/n giggled, pulling him in for a kiss “Yes Pin, of course I know that. It’s be impossible not to,” she said as they parted, “I love you too”.
“No more close calls okay? My heart can’t take anything else happening to you,” he said seriously.
“Ditto,” she stated, pulling him back in for another kiss.

LOSING BUT WINNING | PIN HAWTHORNE
Summary: Imagine falling off a horse while competing and hurting yourself, and Pin helping you.
Tumblr media
"And now, our final competitor number seven for our second race today, from Bright Fields stables," the announcer bellowed as you rode to the field and you tried to swallow your nervousness. You were a good rider - the best bet against Pin, as Mia had said it.
Pin. Pin rode for Holloway now and Mia expected everyone at Bright Fields to hate him for that, basically saying you're betraying the team if you don't. You had to beat him. You had to be better than him. Especially after Zoe fell off Raven and was disqualified with the last section of the competition. But at least she hadn't had her crush racing beside her.
You took a shaky breath and squeezed Pixie into a walk. The rest of the competitors were trotting down the track, you in the middle. You had to beat them all. You had to win. If you didn't, you felt like Mia would pretty much kill you as the whole team would have been disqualified and then the stables would likely be bulldozed with all its debts.
Pixie seemed to pick up on your nerves and began to snort and tossing her head.
"You've got this, Pixie," you muttered and patted her neck, trying to calm the horse. You took another deep breath, trying to focus, to remember the training you had done during the past weeks as you settled on your spot beside everyone else.
It would be just a little country race riding. You had done the course dozens of times. You knew how to do this.
You could win this. You could be the star of the Bright Fields team, you would outdo yourself.
"Ready, set, go!" the announcer's voice shouted through the field.
You nudged Pixie and the horse launched into gallop. You kept your eyes on the course, feeling like flying over the obstacles. Trees were just blur at the sides of your eyes and your heart was racing from the adrenaline. Pixie's mane was flying around her head, and the horse's hooves pounded the dirt of the course.
You felt like a hero from some fairytale as you raced there and barely hearing others behind you. You would win this, you would outdo yourself.
The course had you crossing through the forest and came to a small creek. Pixie jumped over the log obstacle, and then jumped the next jump, the one after that, and just when you were guiding her to steer right, she neighed and on the next moment, you were sent flying off the back of the horse.
"Ahh!" You cried out as you landed on the mud pond by the creek.
Pixie fell down and neighed some more, and you tried to get up. Your chest and legs hurt and your face felt wet from the mud. You tried to stand but it hurt. You wanted to get up, to check on Pixie, but you just couldn't. You saw Pixie lying there, trying to get up, but she was in the same shape that you were in - she couldn't get up either and her neighing soon turned into quiet whimpers.
You heard the horses galloping towards you and looked up to see Pin, who immediately stopped Elvis upon seeing you and dismounting him.
"Are you alright?" He asked you, his eyes roaming over you in concern.
You groaned. "No... I think I broke something."
"Here." Pin hooked his arm over your waist. "I'll carry you."
"I can walk..." You tried to get up, but you almost screamed when the pain shot through again.
"Looks like it," he chuckled, lifting you with his arm around your waist.
Other competitors came by you too, looking at Pixie lying on the ground and you in Pin's arms.
"Are they ok?" One of them asked and Pin shook his head.
"Call the medical team, Pixie needs help," he told them and nodded towards you. "I'll take my them back and check on them," he told them and then turned to you. "Come on."
You didn't protest and just let him take you. You were grateful for his help and he seemed to understand you were in pain. He helped you mount Elvis and soon you were riding back double, him sitting behind you, ensuring you wouldn't fall off.
"And we have a winner! It's Pin Hawthorne from-"
The announcer cut off her speech as she saw you slightly slumped forward in front of Pin, covered in mud, looking like you're going to pass out soon, and on the next moment, a medical team was rushing up towards you and helping you down Elvis. You were lowered down on the stretcher and carried away, your mind not really working at that point anymore.
---
You woke up in a hospital, in a private room with Pin sleeping on an armchair beside you. You groaned as your headache came back, and Pin immediately woke up and he blinked at your for a second or two before taking a light hold of your hand.
"Hey, it's alright. You're in the hospital, you had an accident," he said softly, rubbing your fingers with his thumb.
"Where's Pixie?" You asked, your mind immediately going through the worst scenario.
"She's in the stables. She's getting treatment too." Pin explained quickly. "She'll be alright, she's young and strong."
You nodded. "Thanks..."
"They almost didn't let me come here," he muttered. "So I lied about being your boyfriend."
Your cheeks immediately heated up from that, but you smiled at him bashfully. "Oh... that's nice of you."
He smiled slightly at you again, before squeezing your hand slightly. "I'll be here with you for as long as you want. Do you want anything from the cafeteria?"
You shivered slightly at his touch and looked at him. "You'll... you can stay here with me?"
He nodded. "You're one of my best friends, of course I'll stay here with you."
You couldn't help but smile widely again and you were sure your heartbeat gave away your true feelings for the boy. "Thank you. And uh... a hot cocoa would be nice. With marshmallows and whipped cream."
"Of course," he chuckled and left the room, leaving you wanting to squeal at yourself for having Pin staying with you. And maybe it was hopeful thinking, but you were sure you saw a blush tinting his cheeks too when he admitted about lying about being your boyfriend just so he'd get to be with you... which could tell about him returning your feelings. Maybe.
In any case, losing the race and hurting yourself wasn't so bad after all.
---
"What do you mean we can't see them?" Becky frowned at the nurse. The nurse sighed and took off her glasses, meeting Becky's eyes.
"I already told you, it's against the rules, miss," she explained, looking at Becky like she's bored of explaining it. "Only family and partners can meet them, but I'm sure they're fine. They have their boyfriend with them."
Becky let out a whine, missing Jade frowning. "But—"
The nurse held up her hand, her face showing that she's had enough of Becky's whining. "As I said, their boyfriend is with them, and that's enough."
"I don't care if they have a boyfriend with them, I'm not letting you keep us from seeing them!" Becky tried to argue, but then Jade touched her friend's shoulder.
"Becky, since when have they had a boyfriend?" She muttered, and suddenly Becky's eyes showed a realisation too.
"Oh," she mumbled and then turned back to the nurse, who frowned at the two girls. "Um, what's the boyfriend's name?"
The nurse checked something from the computer screen again. "It reads Pin Hawthorne, do you not know him?"
"Wait, he's not—" Becky started but Jade elbowed her. "I— I mean, no. I mean yes! We do know him. He's their boyfriend, yes. We just... didn't know he's here. We're sorry for bothering you."
The nurse raised her eyebrows momentarily but then nodded, putting her glasses back on and continuing to work on the computer.
"They are dating?!" Becky hissed at Jade, who just shook her head.
"They would have told us, they've been in love with Pin since forever. And they were nervous about making the relationship dire when it was revealed they'd be competing together in that race, it can't be that," she explained.
"I guess you're right," Becky mumbled. "I just wish they'd let us see them. But... why would Pin— ohh, he lied about it!"
"So he'd be able to be with them!" Jade giggled, and Becky nodded, basically jumping a little in place.
"He has feelings for them too, I knew it!" she squealed and hugged Jade's arm.
The nurse looked at them for a second before looking at her screen again.
"Hey, is... are they alright? We came here as fast as we could," Zoe asked her friends, Rosie trailing behind her. Becky immediately beamed at them.
"Pin is pretending to be their boyfriend," Jade whispered. "So he'd be able to be with them in the hospital room."
Zoe blinked. "Wait, what?"
Becky nodded, her smile only growing wider. "He's so sweet and brave!"
Zoe beamed now too. "We knew it!" she laughed and glanced up just in time to see Pin coming from the cafeteria with a big mug and a small paper bag.
"Well well, Mr. Duke has found himself a partner, it seems," she teased, and Pin's cheeks grew pink at that. "How are they?"
Pin cleared his throat. "They're fine. They wanted a hot cocoa," he mumbled and then turned his head away, but the girls could see he was grinning.
"Tell them to text us when they can. I mean, if they have time during your honeymoon," Zoe winked.
Pin's cheeks just grew redder at that but he nodded. "I'll let them know."
He disappeared to the hallway, leaving the girls grinning behind, and they all knew that it wouldn't be long before you and Pin would be together for real.

Two of a Kind || Dazai x Reader Part 1: Obscure Chance
Tumblr media
Story Summary: The search for your brother has led you into conflict between the Armed Detective Agency of Yokohama and the Guild. Fitzgerald keeps you involuntarily, that is until you finally find your chance of escape. Will you find strength within the ADA, or will you only become more astray? Word Count: 1,622 Characters Featured: Nathaniel Hawthorne, John Steinbeck, Lucy Montgomery Warnings: afab!reader, slowburn, plot heavy to build up romance, small mentions of isolation, hints of Fitzgerald being Yikes and abusive, lmk if I happened to miss anything please
.・。.・゜✭・.・✫・゜・。.
The cold atmosphere of the room you were trapped in seeped into your body, making your bones ache with how aggressively you were shivering despite the covers you put around yourself. Never did you expect to find yourself held hostage, yet here you were with the powerful Guild that gave you no choice in the decision to join their organization. You didn’t do it for money like some of the others you came to learn about during your forced stay, nor did you seek to become powerful.
It started with a simple letter. Your brother Roberte had written to you. He went on to tell you that he had picked up work in the Guild to help support you back home, that things would be more prosperous if you had joined him. You had decided to seek out the Guild to be at his side, for all you had was each other after your parents had died.
You did not find Roberte. You were too trusting, showing a stranger eager to have everything within the snap of his fingers how your ability worked to prove yourself worthy. Within hours you were not allowed to leave. The man named Fitzgerald was sure of that. He never took no as an answer, and you quickly made that observation with the way the other members of the Guild stood behind him. They didn’t dare try to protect you. Here in the Guild, it was a principle that if you screwed up, you were on your own. You didn’t consider any of them friends, besides maybe Lucy who managed to converse with you when she brought you meals.
“So do not fear, for I am with you; do not be dismayed, for I am your God. I will strengthen you and help you; I will uphold you with my righteous right hand.”
You were brought out of mulling about your predicament at the new voice. Your head turned, no longer surprised to see Hawthorne that said the Bible verse aloud. He reminded you of a late December evening when the sun was slowly setting on the horizon and giving way to darkness. He was cold and distant, his hair a pale shade that reminded you of the snow covering the ground at dusk. His icy blue eyes always managed to pin you down wherever you existed on the Moby Dick like he could see the sins you’ve committed, even ones you didn’t know existed. As a man of God that he proclaimed to be, you never saw him outside of his pastor clothes.
Your lips turn in a gentle smile regardless. If nothing else, you were thankful for the little bit of company he temporarily provided. “Isaiah 41:10. It is only customary for the reverend to grace me with his words from the Book. I suppose you’re trying to give me advice in your own way instead of having me sulk around?”
Hawthorne’s face was unreadable with how little it changed, but his tone of voice gave you ease. Cold, yes, but gentle it came out as he replied, “I can tell by the look on your face. You feel helpless and alone. You don’t try to escape.”
You merely shrugged at his observation. The comfort he was giving was quickly replaced by a heavy feeling that settled in your chest. You sat on the provided bed and hugged your knees closer to your chest, the dress you wore allowing your legs to be blanketed. “I have tried before only to fail. Countless times. Fitzgerald is powerful, even if I can shapeshift into other people and use their abilities.”
Of course, you couldn’t escape Fitzgerald despite having such a useful ability. Though having surprised him at first, he took the opportunity upon himself to make you better than you were. Stronger. To change into someone for longer. To be able to take an object that is closest to someone and use it to connect to the person and change instead of using only physical touch. There’s no doubt that you would make an incredible assassin by having the ability to change your appearance so drastically, especially in framing someone. By tacking on having the opportunity to store someone with an ability into your closet of changes, you were a force to be reckoned with. If you cared enough.
That was evidently the problem. You didn’t care. You never had thought about using your ability in such a despicable way. You would always want to use what you were able to do for good, to disguise yourself and capture a criminal in the act all while keeping your real identity safe. You could help connect yourself to a person to understand their predicaments, to understand their health issues, to understand why they feel the way they feel.
“I’m sorry, reverend. I do not look for pity. I simply sense that this is my punishment,” you said quietly.
Hawthorne quirked a brow at your words. “You think that God has punished you in this way? What have you done in the eyes of the Lord that he would do such?”
Your eyes were trained on your hands. You wiggled your fingers slowly as if noticing something on them that would never come off. Hawthorne was right to believe the notion ridiculous, but you couldn’t help but feel like a monster in your own skin with all that you’ve done since being forced to join the Guild. A monster that changed who she could be on a whim. “I have gone against my morals without so much as a fight. I want to fight, but I am beaten in my efforts each time. What do you think?”
Hawthorne’s face never changed, but you noticed how his voice was hardened once more. “I may pass judgment on heavy sinners, but I believe that this is for the Lord to decide Himself.”
You exhaled slowly when you heard his footsteps leave you in tense silence. Your thoughts from before Hawthorne made conversation were now replaced with the question you always ended up asking yourself.
Were you a monster pretending to be human?
⫘⫘⫘⫘⫘⫘⫘⫘⫘⫘
It was hours before you heard voices again, this time clearly distinguishing the two of them. Steinbeck and Lucy. As they approached, your eyes opened from resting and you forced your body to sit up. You were severely tempted to brush through your hair after sensing just how knotted it was from your tossing and turning, reaching for the hairbrush just as you saw Steinbeck and Lucy at the door. As usual, she opened a compartment in the door to give you the tray of food.
“Look at that! You are still alive,” Steinbeck said with a playful grin. The small window in the door to your room only let you see his sky-blue eyes and sunny blonde hair, but there was the knowledge that one of the straps to his overalls that he wore hung down from his shoulder. You had to hold back the urge to fix it for him whenever you saw him, like a mother fixing their toddler’s shirt before they ran outside to play with their friends. Your eyes shifted over to Lucy’s blue eyes and thick red hair. You envied the coloration and how beautiful it always looked in the braids she put it in. You could imagine the dress she wore despite not being able to see it, the ruffles at the bottom always catching your attention. It wasn’t as proper and elegant as Lady Margaret, but it suited her.
“I am,” you responded, keeping your words short and distant as you took the tray and offered Lucy a grateful smile. You walked back to sit it on the small table that was by your bedside, seating yourself back down on the mattress to properly untangle your hair with the brush.
“I just can’t imagine,” Steinbeck attempted conversation again, “after being in here for this long already. I know what it’s like to have a sibling. The only reason I’m not with them right now is to make sure they can live. I send most of my pay back home to help support them all.”
“You’re the type to do anything for your family.” You nod while listening to him.
“My sister, she’s still a little younger than you. She loves to take my share of apple pie at the big family dinner table, but I can never say no because she’s just too cute.” His shoulders relaxed as he talked about his sister, and it made your heart ache that you were unable to see Roberte after all this time.
It hit you then. Why would he be trying to talk to you if it was not for one simple thing?
“Do I remind you of her?” you asked timidly, your eyes stuck on the tray as you set your hairbrush down.
Out of the corner of your eye you see Steinbeck’s smile. “A little. You’re just older, more gullible, and complacent when you’re in danger.” Each word that came out of his mouth made you prickle and squint at him, but your expression made him laugh instead of becoming defensive. “You do have the same cute pout, though.”
Your ire only faded at the prospect of finally eating some of the food that was given to you. Steinbeck and Lucy took it as a signal to leave you in peace, but not before Steinbeck stayed back to say one last thing while the space was quiet.
“You’re right. I would do anything for my family. The Guild is not necessarily a nice organization. You do what you’re told, and that’s it. Take care to remember that if nothing else.”

lessons | michonne hawthorne x fem!reader
summary: your longtime crush Michonne decides to teach you how to correctly use her katana. you can’t help but get nervous whenever she’s close to you.
warnings: kinda suggestive? not sure but there’s a LOT of tension.
A/N: my first Michonne story! reminder that requests for her and everyone in my pinned are OPEN! just read rules before requesting 🫶🏻
Tumblr media
the sun was blistering hot. summers in Alexandria had to be on your list of top ten least favorite things. sweat dripped down your face as you aimed your handgun at the makeshift target.
you closed one eye, keeping your hand steady as you tried to keep it on the the target. you shot the gun, watching the bullet go through the head of the target. you smiled proudly at yourself.
“practicing again?” a voice said from behind you. you automatically recognized that voice, how could you not? you turned around, eyes landing on Michonne.
Michonne, possibly the most beautiful girl you’ve ever met. the girl that completely stole your heart a year ago. she doesn’t know that though, and she shouldn’t. she can’t.
if it was possible, your face burned even more just at the sight of her. you looked down, a small chuckle escaping your lips, “yeah. just thought i could use a bit of it.”
she shook her head, “i don’t think you do. you’re really good with a gun.” the compliment almost made you weak the knees.
the effect Michonne had on you was embarrassing almost. no one was ever able make you feel the way Michonne did. it was a feeling you couldn’t describe.
you shrugged, trying to play it off like it wasn’t a big deal. “but,” Michonne dragged out, a hint of mischief in her voice. “i could teach you how to use my sword.” she smiled.
“you’re joking.” you said. “that’s like- your prized possession. you’re really gonna let me use it?” you questioned, laughing.
“you’re an exception.” she said casually, pulling the sword off her back. she walked closer to you, grabbing your hand and taking you over to one of the targets. your hand burned under her touched and you prayed she wouldn’t notice.
“stand here.” she instructed, pointing to the ground. you stood where she pointed, looking at her for the next instruction. Michonne placed the sword in your hands as she stood behind you now.
she placed her hands on yours when you positioned the sword. your hands went stiff under her touch. her body was pressed right against yours, and the heat wasn’t making the situation any better.
“hold it like this.” she said softly, controlling your hands to put it in the correct position. you found yourself breathing slightly harder than before. your heart was racing.
once it was in the correct position, she spoke again. “swing,” you swung the sword across the target, the wooden head slicing off with ease. you smiled in disbelief and turned back to her, she mirrored your smile. “you did it!” she exclaimed. “and you did so good,”
your throat felt tight. why the hell was she doing this to you?
“one more time.” she said, clapping her hands lightly. she stood behind you once more, helping you reposition the sword. “stand like this,” she mumbled, placing her hands on your waist. you inhaled sharply at the contact.
Michonne stopped her movements. she peered her head over your shoulder, “you’re nervous.” she commented. you looked down, avoiding her eyes.
she moved from her spot behind her, now standing in front of you so you couldn’t avoid her. “why are you nervous?” she questioned you.
you looked up at her but didn’t respond. your words hesitated, your mouth opening but no words coming out.
one glance at her lips gave it all away, but you couldn’t help yourself. she took another step closer to you. “because of you.” you whispered with the small amount of boldness you had.
she didn’t say anything. for a moment, you were sure you fucked up by saying that. the thought was pushed away when Michonne suddenly captured your lips in hers.
the katana fell out of your hands as they wrapped around her neck, pulling her closer to you. the heat was no longer a problem, all you could focus on was the way her lips felt on yours.
she pulled away first, but she still kept a grip on your waist to hold you against her. you smiled, “can you teach me again?”

so, it’s probably nothing, but it’s been on my mind sometime and I can’t let it go- hug prompts! The link for those is here, and again, you can send in as many combinations as you want!
pin hawthorne with 2, 3, and 4??
Spring- Pin Hawthorne x gn! reader
okay, thank you for sending this in! I haven't written for Pin in almost six months and I missed it a lot more than I thought lol. The prompts you sent in are as listed below:
slowdancing that’s actually just a hug with swaying involved, hugs that last a long time, and “It’s been a while,” hugs
fic type- fluff
warnings- mentions of flooding and power outages in relation to snow and rainstorms, mentions of icy roads/ground also in relation to snow and rainstorms
Tumblr media
You’d always loved it when spring graced the island, though you weren't shy of admitting your disdain for the lethal weather that late winter and early spring often brought along.
During winter, the stables were in a relatively consistent state of snow and cold weather from September through to the last week of March. Spring always got a late start and, as you’d noticed since you moved to the island at sixteen, winter always liked to overstay its welcome.
Spring weather typically came back around between the last three days of March and the first six days of April, often immediately following a snowstorm so severe that you and Pin would have to check on the horses at least a day in advance. You'd have to get to the stables and make sure that nothing was at risk of breaking with the strength of the wind and that everything was still properly insulated to keep out the worst of the cold.
The last week of March and the first week of April were no different that year. A snowstorm picked up on the twenty-eighth of March and lasted through to the thirtieth, you in yours and Pins loft, Pin staying with his dad due solely to happenstance, as Pin had stopped in for tea and to see how things were with his dad when the snowstorm started unexpectedly.
On the thirty-first, a rainstorm hit and Pin couldn’t get back to you because of the risk of a power outage due to the wind, coupled with the fact that the snow was melting and turning into ice that made driving or travelling by horse way too risky.
Pin didn’t get to your loft until the third of April, waiting out the storm--which had only ended on the second, ending on a high note with warnings of icy roads, fallen trees, flooding on the roads and warnings about floods flashing in bright white against bold red on every single news station--in his old room and keeping his dad company, the two of them playing card games when the power went out, drinking cold tea and talking in some feeble effort to pass the time.
He knew you’d be at the stables with Gabby, Zoe, and Marcus, checking on the horses and feeding them when he saw your text that morning. Instead of telling him to meet you, though, you simply asked him to run a couple of errands in your stead, and so he did.
When he got back to the loft, he’d spent the better part of four hours on his feet. He had a twenty pound bag of cat food for the two and a half year old orange tabby you’d adopted together over one shoulder, a bag with bread, ice cream, sugar and a couple of the sweets you loved in his left hand.
He put the bag down to unlock the door, proceeded in, fed the cat--who you’d been calling Pumpkin since you’d adopted him--and put the groceries away, happy to simply stand in your kitchen for the first time in nearly a week, a song from an indie band Pin liked playing idly through a bluetooth speaker.
You came into the house fifteen minutes later, not even registering Pins presence at first.
But then you noticed the striking blue eyes, the obsidian ring that he hadn’t taken off of his ring finger since you got each other promise rings as a three year anniversary present the year before. You saw the black hoodie that Pin always wore during the winter, the one you always stole during the spring, and you almost felt weightless.
“Ran your errands,” he said. “How were the horses?”
“They were fine,” you said, knowing that the horses and Bright Fields as a whole had slipped from your mind entirely as you walked toward him. “Everything was fine. Nothing took significant damage.”
Pin pulled you into a hug and felt relief flood every single part of him with the action, felt himself relax as your arms wrapped around him and hugged him as tightly as he’d hugged you.
You’d been communicating through a combination of facetime and texting for nearly a week, and sure, that was passable, but nothing could ever beat the feeling of your body against his, your lips on his cheek and his lips on your forehead as “I love yous” and “I’ve missed yous” and “it’s been too longs” fell from your lips.
Somewhere within the depths of it all, Pin had jokingly asked you if you'd like to dance and you'd said yes, pulled him impossibly closer and cherished the warmth his body provided as part of you devised a plan to steal the hoodie he wore.
You knew that he'd likely swap it in favor of a knitted jumper if the heat didn't kick in in the loft by the time that the temperature dropped with nightfall, and you'd simply take it then.
You would press a kiss to his lips when he asked if you'd stolen his hoodie later on, and Pin would roll his eyes as one of his arms wrapped around you and a kiss was dropped onto your cheekbone.
The slow dance you’d begun with him wasn’t really more than a hug with swaying involved, the two of you moving slowly through the kitchen, talking idly and enjoying each others presences after almost a week of not being able to hug or kiss or exist with one another.
It’d been a while, and that was communicated with the reluctance you had when it came to letting one another go.
Eventually, though, you did. When you checked the time, you found that you and Pin had been holding each other for almost an hour.
The realization made you laugh, contentment flooding through you as Pin pressed a kiss to your jawline, arm around your waist as the two of you moved into the living room. You curled up together on the couch, eventually falling asleep in the comfort of the silence you shared.

Failed Escape
Grayson x Fem!reader one-shot
Warnings— swearing
Summary—After securing the inheritance, you try to get away before the Hawthornes stop you. Unfortunately, Grayson gets to you before you can get out. Oh, and he’s pissed.
This is my first post on tumblr so yayyy!! I hope I’m doing this right. This is from my AO3, under Azure_Sea_Cloud. Anyway, enjoy!
This was a bad idea. This was my only idea. I couldn’t stay any longer, I had to make my escape. I finally had the money— all 48 billion of it. Straight in my bank account, inherited from someone I had no previous obligations or even interactions with. I, a stranger with no ties to the old man, had been chosen over his three grandsons. To inherit his fortune.
And fuck, they were pissed.
He was pissed.
I tore my thoughts away from him before I was swept up in my feelings. I had the money, now it was time to run. To disappear. To escape. If they came after me I was prepared. I had information now, that I had learned during my time as the Hawethorne’s reluctant guest. Blackmail, if they weren’t able to leave me alone.
I ignored the twinge of guilt I felt at the thought of using their secrets. Of using his secret, the one he had confided in me during a moment of shared trust. Should I really be doing this?
I swept another hand through my hair as I swung a bag over my shoulder. The key I had stolen weighed heavily in my pocket. The light that filtered through the lavish drawn curtains was a grim reminder that I had to hurry. Slipping away under the darkness would have been tremendously easier, but circumstance had not allowed it. They could be coming to confront me any moment now. I had to leave before they could catch me.
Sticking me head out of the door to my room, I scanned the hallway. It was clear, and pausing a moment to listen confirmed there were no sounds of another person. I wasn’t sure where all the Hawthornes were—but luckily for me the only ones that were in this house right now was Xander, Jameson, and him. Grayson.
I strode out into the hallway before I could change my mind, pushing away the thoughts of the second eldest. It was eerie, the way the house was so quiet and every step of mine seemed so loud.
It was relieving to reach the front door at last, with no sight of any of the boys. I breathed a sigh, reaching into my pocket for the brass key.
My hand pressed against the handle as I slid the key in. Through a section of glass around eye level, I could glimpse a small crowd of paparazzi lurking outside. They clutched their cameras, eagerly awaiting for something photo-worthy to happen.
Anxiety clawed at my chest. If I went out there, they would no doubt see me. This would be a massive blow to the Hawthorne’s status—an unrelated girl snatching up their inheritance only to turn and run at the first opportunity. The media would have a field day on tearing their reputation down.
My grip on the door faltered momentarily as I continued staring through the glass. Should I be doing this?
My eyes snapped to movement as a paparazzi raised his camera, interest replacing boredom as he looked straight at where my eyes were peeking. I jerked back. They’d seen me. It was now or never, then it was over and I would be free.
I twisted the key only for a hand to wrap tightly around my wrist and wrench my hand away from the lock, pinning it to the door above my head. My body twisted so my back was against the door as another hand enclosed around my other wrist. I let out a gasp of surprise and shock.
I was met with Grayson, his body close to mine as he pinned me against the door. His piercing grey eyes were narrowed dangerously as he tilted his head to regard me.
His normally pristine blonde hair was bordering on messy, with stray strands hanging down around his eyes. The white button up he was wearing was disheveled and the top few buttons were undone. His grey jacket that matched his slacks had been flung on the rack beside the door, likely moments before he had grabbed me. He must have come through the passage. His sleeves had even been rolled up to his forearms and they flexed as he held an iron grip on my wrists, his hands encircling them like shackles.
My mouth dropped open as my heart accelerated. I’d always dreamt of Gray having me in this position, but under very different circumstances. And now my brain was going haywire as I wondered what it would be like to run my lips along the curve of his collarbone that was peeking out from his shirt. At the same time, my legs felt weak just from the close proximity. Oh, and the fact that he was furious.
“What do you think you’re doing, darling?” The words rolled off his tongue in a controlled way, though there was a menacing edge that was barely concealed.
I swallowed uncomfortably, scrambling to think of something to say. A lie, a distraction, anything.
His gaze dropped down to the bag that had fallen off my shoulder and was now resting at my feet. I could tell that he knew exactly what I had been planning as his grip on my wrists tightened. I forced myself to stay still, even as my body tensed.
His eyes skimmed slowly upward until they reached mine again. Only then did my tongue seem to loosen.
“Listen, Gray, I’m sorry but—“
“Don’t,” he growled, cutting me off. “Don’t call me that like we are friends.”
“Grayson-“
“Was this your plan all along? To use me, my brothers—all of us—then steal our inheritance? You didn’t really care about me—us. This was all some elaborate scheme of yours. You planned it from the start.” Grayson was leaning in close, his face so close to mine. The scariest part was that he was quiet, his voice sharp but not angry and loud.
With each breath my chest tightened. His shin was flush against my knee and his grip was not loosening. I didn’t say anything. How could I even explain it? What could I say that would make this better, that would make him feel better? I didn’t mean to hurt him? That I hadn’t faked any of my moments with him? He wouldn’t believe any of it anyway.
So I settled with matching his own hostility instead.
“There’s paparazzi outside,” I said quietly, making my voice as cold and emotionless as I could. “I doubt they would have a hard time stirring whispers of, unappealing actions against your name, Mr Hawthorne, should they snap a picture through the door. I’m sure they’ll also find it very strange for me to be sighted here ready to leave only for me to never make it outside.”
He narrowed his eyes, betrayal and darkness lurking in their depths, alongside a calculating cold.
“Are you threatening me?” He asked slowly as he shifted his weight to his one arm above my head, leaning in closer still and tilting his head so he could whisper in my ear. “You are not in control here. And I am certainly not letting you run away, Miss L/n.”
I took shallow breaths, tensing as a small shiver of fear—or maybe even desire—trickled down my spine.
Grayson used his other hand to reach into his jacket pocket from where it rested on the rack. Metal glinted as he withdrew what he was looking for without ever breaking eye contact. At the last second my eyes darted over to see what it was.
Handcuffs. What the fuck?
“What are you doing?”
Grayson smirked, opening one section of the slim metal band. I reacted slowly, too stunned at what he was doing, that gave him enough time to let go of my wrists with his other hand and fluidly slip the cuff on one of my wrists. It closed with a smug snick.
I tried to push Gray away, but he kept his grip on my wrist and spun me around , locking the other side of the cuff around the clothing rack.
It all happened so fast. He must have planned that.
“Grayson, what the hell?” I growled, tugging at the restraint. The rack was solid metal, some kind of artistic piece, and barely moved. Pulling at it with my other hand, I tried to slip my wrist out but the shackle was too tight.
He shrugged, casually unrolling his sleeves. “We shared our darkest secrets with you, and you break our trust by running away the first chance you have. I’m not going to let you go and destroy the reputation I have worked so hard to build. You don’t get to run away with the fortune that should be mine.”
He smoothed out his shirt and buttoned it up all the way.
“You can’t keep me here. That’s not how this works.” I said defiantly, but I wasn’t so sure. I’d never seen Grayson like this, so unhinged and betrayed. I hadn’t wanted it to end like this.
I watched as he slid on the jacket then ran a hand through his messy hair until it was neater. He did another quick check of the paparazzi waiting outside. What was he going to do?
I had my answer when he grabbed the side of the cuff that was attached to the stand. He unlocked it, then slipped the key into his jacket’s inside pocket. Then he closed the metal around his own wrist.
I stared, open-mouthed, at Grayson as he slid his sleeve over the cuff. No words could seem to leave my mouth—why would he do this? I’d never seen this side of him before, the side beneath all his charm and charisma.
Grayson tapped my cuffed hand with his, catching my stare with a calculating look of his own, a sly smirk hinting at the edge of his mouth. He tugged at the jumper sleeve until it covered the cuff, then grabbed my hand in his. The contact jolted me out of the shock and I finally managed to find words.
“Grayson what the hell are you doing?” His hand was surprisingly soft and wrapped around mine perfectly.
He sighed loudly, running his free hand through his hair one final time. “You and I are going for a drive.”
“A drive to where?” I demanded.
His grey eyes met mine. “Somewhere we can talk, privately.”
He lowered his head, whispering in my ear. “Now be a good girl and play along. You do that, darling, and I’ll let you go.”
Heat rushed to my face and a quiet gasp escaped me. Holy shit.
I barely had time to linger on his words and how they made me feel when Gray flung open the doors and strolled out, tugging me along at his side.
The paparazzi pointed and began lining up shots as soon as they saw the two of us. I looked up at Grayson to see a smile on his face and none of the betrayal that had been so clear just moments before.
“Smile love,” he said quietly, not taking his eyes off the press. I smiled bashfully—it was easier than I thought, considering the cool metal that enclosed my wrist.
I could get out of here easily. All it would take is for me to show the handcuff, and Grayson would be caught. His reputation destroyed. I would be free.
I couldn’t do it.
His words from the doorway lingered in my head and I fought back a blush. I didn’t want him to know the effect those words, his words, had on me. I knew it would be hard to leave him behind, but now, when I could easily escape, I didn’t want to. Shit.
I had played him, and now he was playing me, just as effortlessly. And I liked it.
The wave of cameras and thrown questions passed in a rapid blur. We pushed through them, smiling and nodding, but politely declining any questions.
We finally cleared the wave of paparazzi and reached a black BMW that had pulled up. I guessed this was our ride, from the way Grayson guided me to it.
This was my last chance to escape, to run and get away. Freedom was so close. But was it freedom at all?
“That’s a good girl,” Grayson said in a low voice, as I slid into the car with him.
I had made my choice.

Rating Freddy Carter's Characters Goodness
Pure Cinnamon Roll- Ellis: The Convent. He is the goodest of good boys; ready to risk his life for those he loves, honest and kind. Truly, a pure cinnamon roll, too good for this world. You just want to bundle him up and protect him from demon possessed girls, creepy convents and weird old ladies. Deserved better, he did.
Good Dudes- Pin Hawthorne: Free Rein, David Friedkin: Masters of the Air. They may be a rough around the edges, a bit flawed, but you love them for it! Also, even though Masters of the Air hasn't been released yet, but since he is based on a real life person, and in my research (x), he sounds like a good man, and judging from the trailer, his character might butt heads with Austin Butler's character.
Grey Area Fella- Kaz Brekker: Shadow and Bone. While he is not the greatest man, could definitely benefit a good therapist, he is a good man underneath it all, who cares more than he let's on. He steals, he threatens, even kills, but the people he killed are assholes who take advantage of sex workers and nearly killed his wraith, so he's forgiven. Plus, he says trans rights are human rights, so he's really not as bad as people think!
Handsome Losers- Jason Ripper: Pennyworth, Scott: American Carnage, Gideon Fletcher: The Doll Factory. What losers, they aren't great, maybe a bit of a creep, classist, and dumb, but damn, they look good doing it. They aren't far gone, but you could fix him, I believe you can.
Puts the "Hot" in Psychotic- Tom Davies: 15 Days, Benjamin Stableforth: Death in Paradise. They started off fine, not great but they could have had a chance to at least be a loser, but family drama lead them to murder and there is no turning back from that. We get it, families are rough, but murder, really? Oh well, at least you looked good while doing it, but that's as far as your goodness goes.

🎁 - what about pin hawthorne x reader? where they just started dating and in their honeymoon phase and everyone on the yard keeps teasing them but also are super happy for both of them :)
Young Equestrian Love : Pin Hawthorne x Reader
Desc: 1.5k wc, Pin and Reader are in the honeymoon phase of their relationship and the others at the yard have to pay the price. Fluff
Warnings: honestly just fluff but to be safe- mentions of kissing, handholding, horses, & related concepts.
Note: y/h/n = your horse’s name
Tumblr media
“Pin?” Y/n questioned sweetly as she rounded the corner to enter the stall y/h/n was in. She smiled when her boyfriend grinned over at her as she entered. Y/n leaned her head on Pin’s shoulder as she reached forward to stroke y/h/n. “You didn’t need to bathe her for me,” she hummed, “but, thank you”.
Pin blushed lightly and rested his lips on the side of y/n’s head as it rested on his shoulder. “It wasn’t a problem” he promised. “She was actually a lot easier than Elvis normally is” Pin chuckled.
Y/n shrugged, “she’s a good horse”. She squeezed Pin’s waist and sighed peacefully.
“You ready?” Marcus asked, shaking his head teasingly as he saw the couple.
Y/n bit her lip and nodded. She turned to Pin and saw he was smiling at her encouragingly. “You’ve got this” she heard him whisper softly, squeezing her hand. Y/n closed her eyes and took a deep breath. “I got this..” she agreed lightly.
As she followed Marcus out of the stables for her test, y/n realized she forgot something. She quickly spun around, making her way back to Pin. Y/n smiled widely at him as she raised her hands to cup his cheeks. She placed a short soft kiss on Pin’s lips.
Pin’s cheeks flushed as he smiled at y/n. “What was that for?” He chuckled, ignoring Marcus’s dramatic groan.
“I owed you a kiss for bathing y/h/n for me,” y/n shrugged, biting her lip.
Pin grinned and scuffled his feet.
“He also told you good luck, does that mean you’re owe him another kiss?” Marcus teased, rolling his eyes.
Y/n could tell Marcus was trying to lightly embarrass her. But, she didn’t care too much about that. In fact, y/n decided to play into it. She nodded in response and gave Pin another light kiss.
Tumblr media
Pin had his arm wrapped around y/n’s shoulder, watching her face as she stared at the sunset before them. He smiled to himself as she curled up closer to his side. However, when he felt the slight raised bumps on y/n’s bare arm, his smile fell. Pin shifted back from her, removing his arm briefly so he could take off his jacket.
When y/n questioningly turned her head towards Pin, he smiled softly. “Here,” he said, moving to wrap the jacket around her shoulders. “Take my jacket,” Pin explained. Upon seeing y/n’s slight guilt over it, he hummed, “I don’t want you to be cold”.
Once y/n’s bare arms were covered and inside of Pin’s jacket, she curled back into his side. She smiled softly against his shoulder, the smile growing when he tenderly pulled her closer. Y/n closed her eyes as she whispered, “I love you, honey”. She felt Pin’s lips press a soft kiss to the top of her head as he replied, “I love you too, y/n/n”.
“Let me grab my keys and phone, then we’ll head home, okay?” Pin asked, kissing the side of y/n’s head.
Y/n nodded with a tired smile. She leaned on the closest stable door as she watched her boyfriend walk to the team room. Y/n closed her tired eyes when he was no longer in sight.
“Isn’t that Pin’s jacket? Do you even own your own clothes?” Mia asked, her voice prompting y/n to open her eyes.
Y/n felt her face warm as she giggled breathily, shyly playing with the strings on Pin’s jacket. “Umm.. yeah it’s his” she whispered, a smile on her face.
“Ignore Mia, it’s cute.” Susie grinned, sending y/n a not-so-subtle wink.
Y/n giggled and bit her lip. “Thank you,” she mumbled quietly.
“I suppose you two are disgustingly adorable,” Mia confessed. She warmly smiled before walking away.
“That’s practically Mia’s way of saying she’s hair for you both,” Susie laughed. “We all are, you two are perfect together” she added, smiling widely.
Y/n fiddled with her hair bashfully. “To be honest,” she began shyly. Recalling her relationship with Pin brought her some more confidence. Y/n spoke a little louder and more affirmatively this time, “I agree”.
Susie’s supportive smile grew at her friend’s happiness. “See you tomorrow, y/n” she said, excusing herself upon seeing Pin approaching, “night Pin!”
“You agree with what?” Pin asked y/n quietly, smiling as he returned to her side.
“Nothing,” y/n laughed. She went to lay her head on Pin’s shoulder but he stepped back at her lack of a proper answer. Y/n giggled and shook her head, “Piiiinnn”.
Pin pursed his lips. He hummed and shook his head back at y/n. “Y/n,” Pin spoke warmly, grabbing her hand. He raised an eyebrow tauntingly, “come on”.
“Nuh uh,” y/n grinned wickedly. She tugged on Pin’s hand that had taken ahold of hers. Y/n tried to take a few steps but Pin’s feet stayed put, keeping her from moving.
Pin tsked lightly. “No?” He asked, his eyebrow still raised. When y/n giggled but shook her head defiantly again, he grinned. Pin closed the distance between them and began tickling y/n.
Y/n laughed loudly, squirming in futile attempts to avoid Pin’s tickling fingers. “Okay, okay,” she gasped, trying to step out of his reach. “I-Iwas say-saying,” y/n tried, breathless from Pin’s tickle attack.
Pin stopped tickling y/n and instead held his hand steadily on the side of her biceps. “Hold on,” he smiled. Pin brushed some hair away from her eyes, “catch you breath”.
“I thought you,” y/n said, pausing as she took a deep breath. “-Wanted me to tell you what I agreed with” she finished, finally catching her breath.
Pin nodded with a smug smile. “I do,” he acknowledged, “but, I want you to breathe first”. Pin laughed, stroking her cheek with his thumb as he lowered his hand back to his side.
“You’re needy,” y/n teased with a playful grin.
Pin bobbed his head from side to side. “Maybe,” he conceded calmly, “but, I’m your needy boyfriend”.
“Do you two ever stop?” Becky asked, smiling extremely widely as she and Jade sauntered to to the couple.
“Stop what?” Y/n asked, rolling her eyes as she prepared for the taunt she knew was coming.
Jade laughed, “being so couplesy”. When Becky nodded exaggeratedly, Jade laughed again as she shook her head. Jade quickly added, “Don’t get us wrong, it’s cute!”.
Tumblr media
“I caught him reading y/n’s favorite book today during one of his breaks,” Zoe smiled, her eyes still watching the couple in question. She shook her head warmly as she witnessed Pin needlessly helping y/n mount her horse.
Marcus chuckled, “how long do we have to put up with this?”.
Becky huffed, “it’s sweet”. She smiled, “young love at its finest”.
“I’m happy for Pin, he’s clearly in love” Jade agreed, joining the others in watching the couple from afar.
“Meanwhile y/n is absolutely smitten by Pin,” Mia commented. She let herself form a slight smile. “I’m glad she is happy” Mia admitted, recalling how much happier y/n had been lately.
Marcus laughed and nodded lightly. “I’m happy for them both, but come on,” he scoffed playfully. “The honeymoon phase has to end sometime, right?”
“I don’t know, that’s not looking like it will end soon,” Zoe smirked, nodding her head across the yard.
Pin and Y/n were both on their respective horses, but holding hands as they casually rode side-by-side.
Susie joined the group and looked around to see what they were huddled up staring at. Upon seeing what her friends were watching, she grinned and took a picture of the happy couple so she could send it to y/n later.
“How much you all want to bet that one of them will fall off?” Ben joked with a smile.
Winnie frowned over at Ben and shook her head. “That’s not nice,” she said gruffly.
Becky laughed and set her hand on Winnie’s shoulder. “He’s just kidding… I think,” she mumbled.
Marcus shook his head, “enough spying”.
“You started it,” Zoe said. She playfully rolled her eyes at Marcus before turning away from the couple. “But he’s right, let’s give them some privacy,” Zoe suggested, prompting the others to begrudgingly look away and stop spying on their friends.
“Gross,” Ben commented. He had been the last to depart his gaze from y/n and Pin; having hoped to get a laugh when one of them surely feel off from the unbalanced postures they were riding with. His outburst prompted the others to turn back around quickly.
When they did, their group let out a cacophony of responses. Some awed, some laughed lightheartedly, some groaned, and others just smiled. Nonetheless, the sight of y/n having dismounted her horse and Pin leaning down from his to give her a kiss only added to the list of behaviors the group figured they would have to get used to. At least y/n and Pin were truly happy, so even if the others found it a tad annoying, they too were happy.

Sneak peek!
Just a small sneak peek of my next chapter for my HTTYD Hiccup Haddock Fic!
(It’s a hiccup x male, so If anyone doesn’t like that then if I was them I’d leave, I won’t tolerate Homophobes, even if this doesn’t mention Freyr’s & hiccups relationship. Hiccup gives bi energy, no one can make me think otherwise.)
- warnings: mentions of Death, this is basically a funeral considering it’s based off of Stoicks…boat scene. Fire. I think that’s it? -
It had finally reached midnight, it was finally the date of the Clyde siblings Village’s downfall. The Clyde’s created a tradition, every year, on the same date at the same time, They’d find a way to honour the people, they never got a proper Viking Send off. This year, it was Freyr’s turn to lead.
Freyr stood up front, listening to the waves crash against the shores rocking the boat.
“Has everyone contributed?” The fifteen year old boy asked. Weakly holding his bow. His siblings nodded.
Placing their items on the boat, items that reminded them of their people, the eldest siblings got things for all the villagers, why the younger ones got specific items for people they could remember. Freyr stood up straight.
“We hope and pray that the Valkyries have Welcomed you and Lead you through Odin’s great battlefield.” He started. “May they sing your name with love and fury, so that we might hear it rise from the depths of Valhalla and know that you’ve all taken your rightful places at the table of kings.” Freyr paused, wiping away the tear that was escaping his eye. “For a great village had fallen, with amazing, Honorable Vikings, Children, men and women.” Freyr kicked his dry lips, closing his eyes at the horrible sound of his siblings tears. “Warriors, our chieftain, fathers, Mothers, sisters, brothers, aunts and Uncles, husbands, wives, friends and…family.” He finally choked out, kicking the boat into the water, watching it float away before lighting his Arrow and sending it away, his sibling following.
The last of the Clyde family watched as the boat went up in flames, just like their Village, as they’ve done for the last seven years.
The nine siblings linked hands as they stood alone in the cold, the moons light shining down on them.
End
(Most likely going to change the speech to Astrid’s in RTTE as it makes a bit more sense.)
I’m thinking of writing a Pin Hawthorne \ Free Rein Fic. The ships would be Pin x Zoey’s sister (an Oc, not Rosey), Zoe x Gaby, Marcus x Mia, the already Canon Ships, and then I was thinking of giving the Oc a twin brother but that’s undecided.

Missed You - Pin Hawthorne x Reader
Tumblr media
Pairing: Pin Hawthrone x (fem!)Reader Genre: fluff Summary: You are attending Mia’s Mistletoe Ball all by yourself, missing Pin, who is still traveling. What you don’t know is that Pin missed you just as much. Warning: FLUFF FLUFF FLUFF Word Count: 2 027
The ground and trees were powdered white with fresh snow. You pulled the thin jacket tighter around your shoulders as you listened to Becky‘s performance. Since the singer Mia had booked for the Mistletoe Ball had cancelled last minute, Becky, her brother, Winnie and Bob had jumped in, presenting Becky‘s reinterpretation of the song „12 Days of Christmas“. You had to admit: as eccentric as Becky and her choice in fashion usually was, she looked absolutely stunning tonight, and she sung with the voice of an angel. You turned to take a look at Alex, grinning as you saw the love struck look in his eyes. Those two certainly would get together soon.
You turned back to watch Becky, but another thought pushed to the surface: How much you wanted Pin to be here. After the summer he had taken of traveling, and he had not been home since. Almost four months had it been since you had last seen him, and even though he often called, and sent postcards almost weekly, you still missed him.
You could not help but wonder what would have happened between the two of you if he had not left. Last summer had been filled with tension and secret glances, catching each other staring, and finding excuses to hang out together. When he had joined Holloway, you had supported him, and when you had sprained your ankle, he had visited you daily, alsways bringing snacks, movies to watch and kept you updated on the latest developments in Bright Fields and Holloway.
You had been in love with Pin for a long time already, and last summer it had started to feel like he reciprocated these feelings. You were happy that he had taken the opportunity to travel, to explore the world, to learn about himself, but sometimes you were scared he might not want to return. It was a selfish thought, which you always pushed aside as soon as it had popped into your mind, because Pin deserved to do what he wanted, deserved to explore the world, but you could not help but wonder how things would be if he had not left. Would you have gotten together? Would he be standing behind you now, his hands placed on your waist, his chest pressed against your back, his chin resting on your head?
A tickling in your neck prompted you to turn around, almost as if you expected to find him standing right behind you, but nobody was there. You stood at the very edge of the crowd, behind you only a flower arc, decorated with white roses, and the darkness of the huge garden beyond.
You exhaled, disappointed in yourself for dreaming such stupid dreams, and turned around to Becky, who was delivering the last lines of the Christmas song. It was not fair to be daydreaming about a boy you might never have a chance with, while Becky was putting in so much effort into her performance. You shifted your weight from one foot to the other, so you got a better view of her, and once she had finished singing, you applauded loudly along with the rest of the crowd.
While most people were quickly heading back inside where it was warm, you noticed Gabi and Zoe getting into a fight with Mia. You decided to ignore them, annoyed with them that not even on Christmas Eve they were able to put aside their petty fights.
Becky and Jade came jumping over to you, Alex following behind, with a wide grin on his face. Before you focused on them, you felt the weird tickle in your neck again, and took a quick look over your shoulder. But still there was only a snowed in garden behind you. Maybe it was the cold playing tricks on you.
„So, what do you have planned for the rest of the night,” Becky asked excitedly.
„Well, first of all, I‘m going to congratulate you on an amazing performance,” you laughed, making Becky squeal, „I really, really enjoyed it. And then… why not some dancing? And I‘m certain Mia will not have forgotten to have a buffet prepared, which we can loot.”
„Oh, buffet,” Becky cheered. „That‘s a good idea! Come on!”
She grabbed Alex by his sleeve, and jumped back towards the entrance to the mansion, making Jade and you laugh.
„Everything okay with you,” Jade asked, suddenly serious, trying to catch your eyes.
„What? Yes, of course!”
„Well, you seem a little gloomy,” she said.
„Ah, well.” For a moment you debated whether or not to tell her the truth, that you missed Pin, but then again he had been her friend too, she would understand how you felt, even without knowing that you were in love with him. „It‘s just… Ted and Pin always used to come over for lunch on Christmas Day, and now Pin‘s out there, somewhere in the world, and I haven‘t seen him in… over three months. I guess I just miss him.”
„I missed you, too.”
You froze, a shiver running down your spine, and the strange tickling in your neck returned, ten times stronger than before. Distantly you registered Jade squealing in delight, but then you quickly spun around, finding Pin was standing right below the flower arc, dressed in a fancy suit, that made him look so much unlike himself.
Your eyes widened slightly, and your heart seemed to skip several beats, before you leapt forward and into Pin‘s arms, which he held open for you. You wrapped your arms around his neck, burying your nose against his suit jacket, and allowed him to lift you in the air, twirling you around a few times, before he put you back on your feet, not yet letting go. (Neither of you noticed Jade quietly retreating, giving you some privacy.)
Pin smelled just like he always had, like Pin, only that the deodorant he used now seemed to be different to the one he had used in summer. Of course it would be. He had been traveling, and there were not the same hygiene products all over the world. But beyond that, he still smelled like the Pin, who had lifted you up, and thrown you into the hay, laughing at you struggling to get up again, before losing balance and falling in himself.
When you eventually pulled back, you could not help but take a closer look at his face. His hair had grown a little longer, but was now cleanly brushed. Short stubble, not longer than a day worth of not shaving coated his jaw and his eyes shone, reflecting the lights in the garden, his lips were pulled into a soft smile.
„I missed you,” he repeated, making you smile.
„I missed you, too,” you answered, suddenly wishing you could just get on your tiptoes and kiss him, out here underneath that flower arc, in the snow, at night.
But you did not. He certainly would not appreciate it, you told yourself. That your hands were still resting in his neck, brushing against his hair, his own hands gently holding your waist, meant nothing, right?
„You look absolutely mesmerising,” Pin whispered, and any other time you would have thought he was making fun of you, but you knew he meant it, his eyes skipping over the white dress you were wearing for the Ball, the makeup Jade had helped you apply, the hair Becky had pinned up for you.
„So do you,” you returned the compliment, wondering if Pin could tell how much your face was burning at his compliment. It was true though, while it was not like Pin at all to dress in suit and tie, he did look great in it. But maybe, just maybe, you preferred him in his sweater jacket, the one he had always thrown over your shoulders when you had been cold.
„Thanks, but it‘s so stiff,” Pin shrugged his shoulders, as if the motion might soften up the thick fabric of the jacket, making you giggle.
„Trust me, it‘s worth the struggle. You look great,” you laughed quietly, looking up at him. Carefully you removed your hands from where they had rested in his neck, and tucked on his tie so it was straight again. After the hug it had been slightly lopsided.
Pin‘s eyes wandered over your face for a moment, just looking at you, and you wondered if he realised that his hands were still at your waist, their warmth slowly seeping through the fabric of the dress into your skin.
Before you had come to a conclusion about whether or not he was aware, he tore his eyes away from yours, and looked up. Like a reflex you followed his line of sight, and found that the flower arc was not just that, but actually had a small twig of Mistletoe hung up in the middle of it.
And Pin and you were standing right underneath it.
Immediately your heart sped up, and quickly you glanced at Pin‘s face, waiting for his reaction. Yes, over the past months you had often dreamt about kissing Pin, but you did not want it to be because of some old tradition forcing him to kiss you. You wanted Pin to kiss you, because he wanted it.
Pin‘s eyes slowly averted from the twig over your heads, a shy smile on his face as his eyes flickered to your lips before meeting your gaze again.
„Can I?” His voice was but a whisper between you.
„You don‘t have to, if you don’t want to,” you answered, just as quiet, Pin‘s face just a few inches away from yours.
„But I do want to,” he mumbled, his eyes once more flickering to your lips before finding your eyes. „Can I?“
You weakly nodded, unable to phrase a coherent sentence anymore, and Pin looked into your eyes for a moment longer, as if to make sure you really were okay with it, before closing the gap.
The moment his lips met yours, your eyes fluttered shut. The kiss was warm and careful, neither of you quite knowing what to do. But it was sweet, and warm, and when Pin pulled you closer against his chest, you reached up your one hand and wrapped your fingers into his soft hair, allowing him to kiss you a little deeper. Your other hand was safely steading you against his chest, feeling his heart beat quickly under your palm,
While the kiss was absolutely perfect, you were slightly concerned how long it would take Pin to find out that you had never kissed anyone before, but you pushed the thought aside. For now all that mattered was the soft fabric of his suit against your arms, his hair between your fingers, his breath on your skin, his lips against yours.
You were unable to tell for how long you had been kissing, or who had pulled away first, but when you opened your eyes again you found Pin was basically glowing. His face was slightly blushed, his eyes sparkled, and a wide grin was on his face.
„I’ve wanted to kiss you for such a long time,” he blurted out, making your hide your face against his shoulder, and wrap your arms around his middle. He encased you in a hug, and chuckled quietly at your reaction. „I just want to stay here forever.”
„Don‘t you think it gonna get cold after a while?” Your voice was muffled against the black fabric of his jacket.
„But then I’d have at least an excuse to kiss you again,” he argued, referring to the mistletoe above your heads.
„Why do you need an excuse?” The words had left your lips before you had thought them through, and surprised and shocked at your own boldness, you lifted your head, looking at Pin, who had a lopsided grin on his face.
„Now, if that‘s the case...“
And then he closed the gap again, kissing you harder and longer and deeper than the first time, his hold on you never loosening, while your hearts beat in tune in the middle of the snowy winter night.

LOVE MAKES YOU DO DANGEROUS THINGS
The storm had approached quicker than expected. Two hours earlier precisely, and now Y/N regretted riding off after the explosive argument with Mia. But it had been the only way they could think of to clear their mind. They’d thought there’d be time to return to Bright Fields before the storm hit, but mother nature seemed to have other plans. The rain followed a crack of thunder, making Y/N realize just how bad this was. They couldn’t ride back to the stables in time. Not before the ground became slippery, which could cause even worse outcomes. Finding a dry area in the woods seemed like the only option. Y/N couldn’t even remember half of the words they’d spit at Mia, but they could remember how it started, and how it ended. How they’d caught Mia stashing away the money Pin had brought in from Holloway in an attempt to keep him indebted to her and her father.
“What the hell are you doing?!” Mia turned to look at Y/N, being caught with the money in hand, and the safe open. Caught red handed. Mia had half the idea to cover up her tracks, but she doubted the person at the door would buy it. This involved Pin after all, and everyone knew they had a soft spot for the boy.
“Making sure we get the best rider Holloway has back in our grasp, what else would I be doing?” Mia asked, raising a brow as she attempted to stash the money away, but a hand at her wrist stopped her. She looked up, seeing Y/N now standing in front of her, holding her wrist.
“Being a bitch and a criminal is what it looks like,” Y/N seethed, snatching the money from Mia and turning from the girl. They missed Pin more than anything, but they wouldn’t let him be beholden to Mia out of all people. They walked towards the door, money in hand, preparing to rush after Pin. If he was going to give the money to anyone, they’d make sure it was to someone trustworthy.
“You know, I knew you were classist, a bitch-” Y/N began, turning to look at Mia, crossing their arms. Their eyes held a frustration beyond words. “But I never expected you to cheat someone out of returning the debt they owed your family. Pin shouldn’t even owe you. His father had no idea they’d sold an illegal horse!”
Mia rolled her eyes, clearly irritated. Especially after the money had been snatched from her hands. There went nationals. She glanced towards Susie, who left the office moments later, passing by Y/N, who gave the girl just a small smile. “You clearly have no idea how business works. Holloway will win nationals with him on their side! You’re blinded by your feelings for him!” she stated, scoffing.
“My feelings? You say that as if you weren’t jealous of Zoe when she arrived at Bright Fields and caught Marcus’ attention!” This felt childish, but Y/N wasn’t letting Mia win this one. They were alone with Mia. Meaning every ounce of anger was boiling to the top. How she’d treated Pin before he’d joined Holloway. How she and her father had made him work for nothing. How she’d treated him when he was the stablehand.
It wasn’t just Pin either. It was about the stables and how Mia treated everyone there too. Becky and Jade. Zoe. Even Marcus when he’d been around. Sure, his personality was the equivalent of a board, but he still deserved respect. And Mia treated him like a prize to be won. Susie too, who Mia treated like jack shit. It angered Y/N to no end.
“I wasn’t jealous! And that was different anyways. I wasn’t running the stables,” Mia countered. Y/N walked into the office once more, standing opposite of Mia, the desk being the only thing separating the two. Mia’s voice was like a tea kettle, screeching and in Y/N’s ear non-stop.
“Sam was. Funny, you two had something in common! Thievery!” Y/N threw their hands up, making a big show of the money in their hand. Mia watched them, eyes on the wad of money in their hand. If that money made it back to the right person, nationals were as good as lost.
“He stole from my family first!” Mia declared, unaware of Pin having returned to understand what the commotion in the office was. Y/N didn’t seem to notice either, because the arguing continued, gaining volume.
“Mia, he didn’t steal anything! You know how to do business, but you don’t understand the legality of business transactions?!” Y/N rolled their eyes, not believing what they were hearing. The kettle continued to speak, and it was becoming more and more unbearable. As it did every day they stayed there under Mia’s directive.
“This is why I switched you out with Susie for Nationals. Because at least she listens!” That caused the kettle to pop, making Y/N shift their eyes over to Mia. The volume dropped immediately, underlying tears beginning to form.
“You what?”
“You’re not riding at nationals, and this just finalized it.” Mia felt the sting before she realized what had happened. She couldn’t process much of what happened after, too in shock that Y/N had slapped her. But she watched as Y/N turned, registering that Pin now stood in the door, clearly in shock as well. Not just by the slap, but that Y/N wasn’t riding at Nationals.
Y/N stepped up to the door, handing Pin the money still in their hand. They shoved off their cardigan, not caring that it was chilly. They wanted to feel it bite at their arms. Especially if they were going riding. “Next time, don’t give your money to Mia. She tried to steal it so she could keep you indebted to her and her father. To blackmail you into riding for Bright Fields,,” Y/N stated.
Then they were steadily walking off towards their horse's stable.
That left them there in the woods, on the back of their horse. It was beginning to get dark, the chill becoming close to freezing temperatures. That cardigan would’ve been pretty helpful now. Even somewhere dry wouldn’t hold off the cold, and being already as wet as they were, hypothermia was a possibility. Fear coursed through them at the idea, but they kept their head up, looking around. “H/N we’re going to find somewhere dry, wait it out, and aH!-” lightning cracked across the sky, striking somewhere off pretty far, but the ground shook, and the noise caused H/N to toss Y/N off and bolt back the way they’d come.
A groan left Y/N’s lips as they shifted from their side. No doubt a bruise was forming already. Their head also spun, indicating a likely concussion from the harsh landing. “Fuck,” they whispered, realizing just how bad this was. Once they opened their eyes, they stood. Their feet were wobbly, their head was spinning. The cold wasn’t helping either. It only disoriented them more. Nonetheless, they moved towards one of the bigger trees. It was dry underneath it, and slightly warmer, despite the cold that swarmed around. Laying back down, they curled up, shivering.
Pin had stayed behind at the stables, watching Y/N rush off. It was hard not to follow after them, but his anger for Mia was more prominent. And he trusted his best friend. Friend. Best friend. It was so much more than that. “You were going to steal my money?” He questioned Mia.
“They slapped me!” Mia finally registered, but Pin scoffed. Deserved in thousands of ways.
“It was well deserved. They’re one of your best riders, if not the best, and you’re not going to let them ride at nationals? Because you have some special vendetta against them?!” Pin’s volume raised a bit, but he simply gripped the money in his hand, bringing it back down.
“I won’t let them have some all heroic moments like Zoe has a million times.” At that, Pin rolled his eyes and scoffed. He turned, walking off towards where he’d left Elvis tied up. He looked up at the sky, shaking his head. Y/N was smart, and he trusted them. He trusted that they knew a storm was coming in. He had to get Elvis back too, meaning he couldn’t wait back for them> though he desperately wanted to. He had a habit of making sure everyone else was cared for before himself.
He sighed, mounting Elvis. He set off at a trot, deciding to stop by Zoe’s house to give her mother the money. He knew it’d be safe then. It was an easy enough exchange, but as he’d begun back for Holloway, the rain had started. Pin knew better than to ride in the rain, and he quickly set pace for the stables. The storm was one of the worst the island had seen in a while. When he’d entered the tack room, his eyes landed on Jade, who seemed frantic. He had a good idea what she was anxious about, but his suspicion was only confirmed as he heard the familiar neigh of Y/N’s horse, the panic clear. He rushed outside, despite the rain, seeing an empty H/N, he went eye wide. “Where’s Y/N?!” He wasn’t asking anyone in particular. He wasn’t even asking the horse, but based on Jade’s shaky breathing and the empty horse, everything clicked.
They were out in the storm.
“Dammit!” Pin knew he shouldn’t have let them go out so close to the storm arriving. Storms were unpredictable. Going out so soon to one, when it could come earlier, was stupid. He’d been blind by his rage, and he knew they’d been as well. He ran back into the tack room, quickly deciding to go after Y/N. Jade raced in though, her eyes heavy with worry.
“Pin, you could end up just like they are. We have to wait till morning!” Jade said. She knew how futile it was trying to get Pin to back down from this, but she had to try. If they both ended up out there, it would be ten times worse.
“Jade, it’s only ten degrees celsius. I wouldn’t be terribly worried if it was just that, but it’s also raining hard. If we leave Y/N out there in that storm, they could die from hypothermia. I’m going,” Pin stated, packing the backpack he’d grabbed from the tack. He took off his slightly damp sweater, shoving it into the backpack alongside a blanket and a few other essentials.
“Fine. Wherever they’re closest too, bring them there. Bright Fields, Holloway, your home, wherever. Just, make sure they’re safe.” Pin nodded, tossing the backpack on and then a coat. He hurried out of the tack room, slowly approaching H/N. He knew that if there was any chance of finding Y/N, he’d have to find them using their horse. Even if the horse was spooked. He’d been doing this long enough to calm it.
He tried to remember the few times he’d seem Y/N calm H/N. Being that Y/N was a little more on the wild side. Or as he declared, the fiercely loyal and determined side, their horse was as well. It reflected them perfectly. He stepped in front of the mare, his hands out in front of him.
“We gotta go find them. I know you’re spooked, but if we don’t, we could lose them. I don’t want to lose them, and I doubt you do either,” he called over the storm, catching the mare’s attention. It was clear she was still frightened, but Pin could sense some form of calm forming. A sense of determination. He sucked in a deep breath, slowly approaching her side before mounting her.
“Take me to them.”
Y/N didn’t remember when they’d fallen asleep, but they did. Dreams fluttered throughout their mind. Warm, inviting dreams. Ones of Pin and their teasing. Ones of soft moments when he’d open up to them. Or the first time they’d met Elvis, who Pin had declared loved them.
“He likes you,” Pin chuckled, smiling at Y/N, who was letting their hands brush down Elvis’ neck. They seemed so engulfed, and for a moment, Pin admired them. How the glow of the setting sun danced along their skin. How the wind blew against their cheeks, making them look flushed.
“Hm?” Y/N murmured, looking over at Pin. Their smile made his breath catch. They looked ethereal, and he’d engrave the picture he had of them there in his mind if it was the last thing he did.
“He loves you,” Pin managed to get out, nodding to Elvis. But it wasn’t Elvis he was talking about. He was talking about himself. About how whenever he looked at them he saw the brightest shining sun, defying the ones who were hell bent on burning you out.
Something cut through the dream, distorting it then. “Y/N!”
Calling to them, frantic. Y/N felt their dream shift, the clouds turning grey. They felt Pin’s hand rest on their shoulder. But it was icy cold, pushing them further into the darkness it seemed. “Y/N!” This time, the darkness was parting, and their eyes fluttered open. The icy cold was dissipating, warmth overtaking them as they were pulled into Pin’s arms.
“Pin?” They murmured, their voice hoarse and small. Pin above them nodded, helping them sit up. He watched them, seeing their bruised side, and how they were clearly disoriented, more fear coursed through him. It wasn’t helping that they were shivering, their lips beginning to turn a deep shade of blue. Had he gotten there in time?
“I’m here,” he spoke, taking out the sweater from the backpack, helping Y/N into it. They let a ghost of a smile grace their lips. It smelt of him, and they wanted to bury themself deep into it. Then the warmth of a blanket engulfed them, a small hum of thanks being heard from them.
“Talk to me, please,” Pin spoke, worry coating his voice in a way Y/N hadn’t ever heard before. They’d seen him be worried dozens of times, but it seemed like, in those moments, he was truly scared.
“Slapping Mia was the best decision I’ve ever made,” Y/N managed, their voice quiet, but there. It made Pin chuckle just slightly. He wasn’t surprised. Even during times of desperate measures, there they lay, making jokes. He pulled them into his arms, lifting them up and turning to H/N. He kept as steady as he could, climbing onto H/N with Y/N in his arms. It didn’t help that it was slippery, but when Pin did manage to, he sucked in a deep breath.
“Stay awake, please, Y/N,” his voice begged, unaware if they could hear. Y/N buried themself into the warmth Pin offered, their face in the crook of his neck, and their body pressed up against him. They felt a wave of exhaustion rush over them once more, but the sounds of H/N feet hitting the ground, and the bounce of the ride kept them just barely awake.
The next hour went by in a blur. Pin had decided to make his way to his house. He wasn’t sure how helpful waking up in either Bright Fields or Holloway would be for Y/N. It was either dealing with Mia, or dealing with Callum. Both were terrible options. So, he rode for his house.
“Dad!” He called as he arrived, lifting Y/N once more and hopping off of the horse. He dashed inside, seeing his dad enter the living room, rubbing his eyes. Pin made his way to his room. It was warmer than downstairs, seeing as he kept a small heater for nights like this. He placed Y/N onto the bed, his eyes filling with tears as he feared he’d been too late.
He managed to gather himself before the tears overtook him, removing the blanket. He dug through his drawers, picking out the closest things to their size he could find. He then changed them into the fry clothes, throwing the damp ones towards the stairs. His hands were shaky as he moved, but he knew he couldn’t stop. He could lose them if he did. When he finished doing everything he could, he looked between the chair and Y/N.
He slid behind them, pulling their still cold body to his warmer one. He let his fingers run through their damp hair, his eyes closing. The tears that had threatened to fall before now fell silently. He should’ve stopped them. He pulled them closer, his head resting back against the headboard of his bed. His own exhaustion took over, his eyes fluttering closed, his grip on Y/N staying steady and tight, as if he let them go, he’d lose them forever.
“Pin?” Y/N whispered, remembering the night before. Rain still poured, but the morning was there. The darkness parted fully, Pin being the light waiting. The warmth enveloping Y/N completely. He was there. He’d been the one to save them.
Pin stirred, his eyes flickering open. They glanced down towards the voice that had spoken, seeing Y/N awake. They were much warmer than the night before too. A smile overcame his features as he realized so, a small sound of relief following. “I thought you weren’t going to wake up . . . you were so cold.” His voice trembled slightly, his hand finding its way to their cheek.
“I wouldn’t leave you alone. Especially to deal with Mia.” Pin shook his head, a chuckle escaping his lips. They laughed as well, but Pin’s laugh died, letting himself take in the sound. He couldn’t cope with losing them. He hadn’t felt so lost since well . . . he’d lost his mother. This was even worse though. A feeling of imminent doom. A feeling of helplessness. As he’d done everything he could, and if it wasn’t enough, then he would’ve lost them.
Pin didn’t speak, his fingers gliding up, resting against Y/N’s cheek. They were so warm now. He thought of the glowing sun kissing their skin. He couldn’t help but smile lovingly. So many words went unspoken, and these ones were ones he wanted to say.
“I love you,” he murmured. Y/N’s laugh died almost immediately, their eyes shifting up to look at him. They couldn’t seem to form words, their lips parting. Instead, their hands left the blankets they’d been covered in, finding their way to the back of Pin’s neck and pulling him down to their lips.
The world slowed. Pin let his fingers caress their face, his lips moving with theirs in tandem. He felt a consuming force draw him closer, letting his other hand pull them up and closer to his body. Maybe it was the rain outside, or the sounds of the blankets shuffling as he pulled them up that made it perfect. Or how he became addicted to how soft their lips were against his, moving so perfectly against his own. Or how he wanted to claim them as his over and over again, declare how in love he was like it was a prayer on his lips.
Soft fingers moved to grip onto his hand against their waist, intertwining them. The softness he’d felt only intensified. His senses flooded with them. Them. It’s all he could think of. All he could feel. It’s all he wanted to feel. Their heartbeat loud, insistent and proclaiming. As if speaking to him and letting him know that they were alive, and there with him. That they were there with him.
“I love you too,” Y/N murmured against his lips, their voice soft. Unlike the night before when they’d been cold. “It’s why I defend you so much. It’s why I look for you in any crowd. It’s you, Pin, that makes everything make sense.”
Pin smiled against their lips, claiming their lips once more. “Never leave me.” The words were almost inaudible, but they were there.
“Never.”

Caaaallllllllll 🩷 how have you been, love??? Are you on summer break yet?
I've heard your call for fic requests and I have one for Pin! What if Pin and his dad are family friends/neighbors of an old lady, and Pin has been helping take care of her during the winter since she lives alone. Then Reader, the woman's granddaughter, comes to live with her when her parents die, Pin teaches her how to ride, the fall in love, the whole 9 yards.
Thoughts?
Get Together- Pin Hawthorne x fem! reader
hi! I've not quite hit summer break yet--I've got like, seven and a half weeks left and in that time there's prom, senior skip day, a whole lot of studying, three classes worth of exams, grad rehearsal and then grad itself--but I am literally counting down the days til summer and even though I hate the warm weather I also cant wait for it, honestly.
What about you? How are things on your end? I hope all is well!
Fic type- fluff
Warnings- mentions of death, mentions of car accidents, a mention of making out (referenced as a snog)

"Ah," said a spry older woman as she noticed the sight of a dark blue toyota camry rolling into her driveway. "My grandbaby is here! Edward, do me a favor and help me down the front steps?"
"Of course, Mrs. L/N," Pins father intoned. Pin tried to hide his smile as he leaned back in the rocking chair that the elderly woman kept on her front porch, gently rocking back and forth by gently pushing the back of his foot off the ground.
Pin had been nineteen, would be twenty in February--it was barely the beginning of November, and Pins father had volunteered him to help take care of Mrs. L/N two, nearly three years beforehand--and still, he'd never quite met the person who stepped out of the camry when it was parked.
He watched Mrs. L/N approach you, saw your tired grin and puffy cheeks as you pulled your grandmother into a hug.
"Pin!" She called. "You must come down here this instant! I have someone I want you to meet."
"Grandma," Pin heard you say exasperated. "Don't make him get up! Don't make him do anything. I didn't mean to cause a fuss."
"You haven't," Pin called. "If you're fine to let me stay in my seat I'll gladly do so. My name is Pin Hawthorne."
You grinned at him, watched his tongue dart out to wet his lips before he returned the gesture to you.
"Y/N L/N," Mrs. L/N said proudly. "My granddaughter! She's just transfered to an asynchronous online program through a university in the city, and she'll be living with me until she finishes her degree in about three years time."
"What's your major?" Pins father asked.
"Writing," you said. "Creative writing. I'm minoring in journalism as a back up."
"Pin is currently enrolled at the same uni," Pins father said. "Should be catching up on his coursework before exams in December, but alas, you can't win them all."
Pin laughed easily as you came up the stairs, letting your grandmother hold onto you to keep herself steady.
"What's your major then, Hawthorne?" You asked.
"He's on his way to becoming a farm vet," Pins father intoned. "He'll work for the local horses stables. Only difference is that they'll have to start paying him for his contributions."
"They do well enough."
"Because you rescued them from bankruptcy and they find you terrifying."
You cast a glance at your grandmother. "Are they always like this?"
"Unfortunately, yes," she responded, giving you a reassuring grin. "But Pin is more sarcastic then his father, and Ted here is always the one who gets it started. One look, though, and they'll both shut right up."
"Or a cup of tea," Pin said.
"Biscuits," his father admitted, a guilty expression on his face. "Oh my word, your grandmother makes them wonderfully."
"Yes I do," your grandmother said with a proud grin. "Now, inside! You've flown, taken a train, and you've driven. You must be bloody exhausted. Rest up, we'll have dinner and tea in three hours."
You nodded at your grandmother, turned your gaze to Pin and his father.
"See you two in a bit," you said. "Lovely to meet you both."
Pin and his father both nodded, and when you'd fallen out of his line of sight, Pin turned his gaze to his feet in an attempt to hide the grin that'd spread to his face.
He ignored it when his father lightly elbowed his forearm, offered your grandmother a grin when she tutted at his and his fathers antics.
He offered her an arm. When she took it, he let her lean on him and lead him into the kitchen, his father following closely behind.
-
The weeks to follow were simple. Pin would come to yours and your grandmothers place to help look after her and to work on his studies.
The two of you often found yourselves in the sitting room on opposite ends of the couch, idly chatting as you typed away at an assignment or reviewed coursework to prep for exams that December.
Eventually, Bright Fields came up. Pin offered to teach you to ride using the horse your parents had kept in the stables before they'd passed, had told you you didn't have to do anything with the horse if you didn't feel comfortable with it yet.
Pin had ended up staying later and later, helping you take care of your grandmother during the day and relaxing with you in your room during the night, laughing and drinking tea that'd gone cold and studying together for the upcoming semester exams.
Without realizing it, you'd opened up to one another, had begun to rely upon the other person. By the end of that January, you'd told Pin about the accident--your survival, your parents deaths--and in turn, Pin had told you some of what happened with his mother.
At the end of that January, you'd finally taken Pin up on his offer to teach you to ride. You'd go to Bright Fields after your grandmother had called it a night, laugh and joke as Pin taught you basics and eventually you were almost better at it then he was.
It was when his father had offered to take his place in looking after your grandmother for a couple of days that he realized his father had known everything the whole time.
"A tip for subtility next time around," his father had said as he passed Pin a mug of tea. "Don't blush every damn time your phone dings with a text from her. Gives you away right quick, it does."
Pin nearly snorted, but managed to keep his composure. "I wasn't trying to be subtle," he said. "I have nothing to be subtle about."
"You're in love with her and you haven't even noticed?" His father asked incredulously. "Goodness, even with my lack of luck in the significant other department, I thought I raised you better. Mrs. L/N thought Y/Ns parents did a decent job too, but it seems she's just as oblivious to it as you are."
"I'm not oblivious," Pin had known he'd fall in love with you quickly from almost the get-go. He'd realized it the very day you met, and it was March. Spring was only two weeks away from donning on the island. "I do know that I'm in love, I just was raised by you. Love confessions really aren't the Hawthorne specialty."
His father laughed. "Fair enough," he said. "Just say something before it's too late. She's got a place at Bright Fields with the usual crew, and I'm sure Marcus has noticed. He'll try to bro-talk it with you, no doubt."
Pin scrunched his lips. He didn't much like the idea of talking his love life with anyone except someone he was in love with, and the idea that Marcus, of all people, might've found it an interesting point of discussion made him want to die.
"Yeah. I'll bring it up with her."
Pins father nodded. "Good lad. Enjoy your tea, I'll go check in next door and see how things are with Y/N and her grandma."
Pin nodded, took his tea up to his room as his father left.

"It's nothing big," Zoe said. "Just something small, to celebrate Spring. A get together!"
The two of you were in the stables, you running a brush along the horse your grandmother had kept in case you'd ever wanted to learn riding like your mother had once. The horse was called Luna, her coat a silvery white color.
"At the Dukes estate," you rebutted. "A get together is not a get together when it involves a butler named Arthur, nor when it involves professional chefs."
"It could be," Zoe said. "A get together is a get together when people get together."
You scoffed. "Get togethers in America are chips, sugary soda, a couple of bags of Sour Patch Kids dumped into a big ass bowl, some shitty lighting and fake laughter amongst people who are regretting agreeing to go within five seconds of their arrival."
"You miss it?"
"Somewhat," you laughed. "Oh, American get togethers were just small parties. I do miss that part, but I do not miss the stale beer or the stench of sweat. College parties were almost worse, though."
"Was it that bad?" Zoe asked. "Oh, you are so going to make me glad I chose to take asynchronous online schooling. I have to wake up at three am for zoom calls in the states sometimes, but if it means I don't attend shitty college parties it will be so much more worth it than I'd thought."
"College parties are glorified high school get togethers with shitty plastic solo cups to indicate relationship status. I used to always pick 'happily coupled' just to avoid being hit on so that I could drink my stale vodka in peace."
Zoe snorted. "Yeah. Feeling blessed. Thank you."
You laughed as you finished brushing Luna, placing the brush on the hook you'd always kept it on.
You turned to the entrance of the stable in time to catch Pins eye, the grin spreading to your face before you could stop it.
"Hi," Pin greeted. "Zoe, would you be all right if I took a minute to talk to Y/N?"
"Go ahead," Zoe said, shooting Pin a look and an eyebrow raise as she grabbed Lunas lead with the intention of passing her to Becky so that she could get some exercise because it had been a busy few days and you hadn't had time to see her at the stables with everything going on.
"Do tell her what a get-together is, though! She's got it wrong!" Zoe called as she walked further away, closing the stable door behind her.
Pin glanced at Zoes back before turning to you, confusion and surprise both present in his gaze.
"What was that?"
"Living on the island for too long has poisoned her," you said nonchalantly. "She thinks a get together is a party with a minimum of fifty people. I think it's like the shit I dealt with in college before my grandmother needed some extra help to look after her and I transferred. I think it's stale vodka, the stench of frat boy sweat, shitty lighting and laughter that makes ones ears hurt."
"Zoes right."
"How dare you?" You asked. "You were supposed to be my ally in this, Hawthorne! How dare?"
Pin shrugged. "Can't help it. She is."
"A get together is not fifty--you know what? You're going to make me sound like a bloody broken record. I am not doing that shit."
Pin laughed, and your heart fluttered for a moment.
"Calling it a get together is how the over twenty-five islander crowd discusses partying," Pin said after a moment. "It's 'we're going to get together, probably get drunk and definitely do something stupid regardless of how sober or not sober we are, but we're not in our early twenties and partying sounds too reckless.'"
"It is not," you said. "Hawthorne, you've found the hill I'm willing to die on. A get together and a party are very different things."
Pin smirked at you, shook his head as though he meant to clear his mind.
"I was wondering if you had a minute to talk," he said. "Not about the debate that we will most definitely be continuing later, but about something different."
"Yeah," you gave a nod, leaning against the stable wall. "Shoot."
"I'm in love with you," he blurted.
You thought on it for a few moments. You'd fallen for him too, across the five months you'd known him. You fell in love quick and hard, and somehow it seemed like it was paying off.
"Ditto," you said.
Pin scoffed. "That was easier than I tho--ditto?"
"Yes, Hawthorne. Ditto. It's very American of me, but if I say that I love you back I might just melt into a clingy puddle and I am not ready for you to see that side of me yet."
He scoffed again, though you couldn't help but notice his grin. "May I kiss you?"
"Please," you responded. He stepped forward, cupped your face in his hands and kissed you. You kissed back, arms moving to rest on either of his shoulders. You felt weightless almost, like nothing mattered more in that moment than the two of you did.
As you pulled away, you heard clapping. Pins arms wrapped around your waist as you pulled him close, not daring to look up and meet the gazes of those you knew were standing outside of the stable doors.
"Finally!" Marcus called. "I've been watching this trainwreck for five months, and finally it happened!"
"We're not a trainwreck!" Pin called back.
"Oh, yes you are! First, you meet at Y/Ns bloody grandmothers house," Mia called.
"Then you fall in love over tea, creative writing essays and fucking biology assignments," Zoe added.
"And now, look at you lot! Having a snog in a bloody stable!" Gabby finished off.
"We were not having a snog," you fired back, ignoring the heat in your cheeks. "It was a kiss--one kiss! Stop being lewd."
Pin let you go as the two of you turned, letting you grab his hand instead, other hand moving to rest on his elbow as your fingers interlaced.
"Did you at least bring up the--" Zoe started, cutting herself off. "The thing, relating to the other thing that's happening at your estate?"
"He's taken your side on the get-together debate."
"I'm taking Y/Ns out of spite from here on," Pin mumbled. "And loyalty."
You snorted where Zoe scoffed. "She's wrong and you know it!"
"I'm loyal!" Pin said in his defense. "Kill me, Zoe. Kill me for my loyalty. How would that look on your resume?"
You leaned up and pressed a kiss to Pins cheekbone, shooting Zoe a pointed look.
"Oh, fuck off! Both of you!" Marcus shouted. "Ah, now they're a couple, it's going to be hell around here."
"Oh no! Two people holding hands, kissing, and taking the other persons side in group arguments! How awful!" You mocked, one part of you wishing you and Pin were at your place, relaxing and trying to do course work, one of your hands idly running through his soft brown hair.
The other part of you wanted to be in the field you and Pin had found a good distance from the beach, leant up against a tree as you drank tea you'd poured into flasks and talked about anything and everything.
Pin gave your hand a squeeze. "All right," he said. "That's enough gawking, you all have work that needs doing."
Marcus gave a mock salute, Zoe and Mia nodded.
Gabby nodded. "Marcus is wrong. You'll be good for each other."
"Thanks," you and Pin said.
You were almost entirely sure that, since the deaths of your parents, since your survival after the accident, those moments were some of the first wherein you felt genuine happiness again.
