The first two eps of The Summer I Turned Pretty s2 are so.... Good?

Like... Sadness is such a beautiful, raw emotion and those eps portrayed that emotion so perfectly. With Belly going on about her day and something, anything, reminds her of a specific moment in the past and she pauses because she has a flashback to that moment and she is reminded of how sad she is.

It comes at you in waves, and completely at random and it's just so well portrayed.

#my mum came to visit on Thursday for the weekend #I haven’t seen her in a little over 3 years #I was in the hospital and she flew over to be with me. so. I was in pretty bad shape. not prime interaction there either #and THAT was probably after a 2 year gap? idk anymore #but she visited and tonight she went to her hotel and I won’t see her in the morning bc work so. this was the last night #and it was a fantastic visit by and large. complaints are for things that aren’t her haha #but she left bc the trip is over of course. I’m an adult and I still can’t get over it #I’m happy - seriously so grateful bc her life is very busy and my stepdad picked up a LOT to make it happen #but I guess there’s always going to be that empty wanting for my mum like I’m 4 again and she had to go off to college never REALLY returns #summers off and then occasional holidays and then maybe once a year and. idk I guess you don’t get over some things. I know that! but #I suppose it’s a good thing that when she leaves I’m sad for it #complicated relationship still but. she’s my mum.#no worries I’m just going to be a sop for the next Whenever. needed to jot it down. explain myself haha #payslipgig talks too much #I need to fucking change playlists tho jfc I’m listening to my bloody valentine and expecting a chipper mood?? like babe come on

You know, if I had a nickel for everytime a podcast has resulted in my music taste expanding, I would have three nickels; which isn’t a lot, but it’s weird that it happened three separate times.

#in order thats #welcome to night vale -> ya know whatever they play for the weather. but particularly parables and primes by danny schmidt #i have a playlist on youtube that is this too shall pass. stained glass. and dark eyed prince by him + the table song by katie kuffel and-#the ends and the means by robby hecht. they all have the same vibes #then i think next was #old gods of appalachia -> those poor bastards #then i let myself get into the mechs. coming from tma. which makes sense because they are far more separate than the other examples #like i started listening to tma in april of 2020. then ogoa in the late summer or fall. and i think i pretty quickly went to listen to i-#cannot escape the darkness and then moved to satan is watching. which is really basically the whole extent of my knowledge of those poor-#bastards. but then i started listening to the mechs in december of 2020.#you have no idea how much it disappoints me being almost a year late #oh also the ends and the means by robby hecht is the only reason i have the slightest understanding of ejm and mje #i started listening to wtnv in… 2015? for comparison #i listened very primarily to podcasts and nerd music through high school though

My favorite character from the last 10 shows I've watched

Because I'm in pain and need a good distraction.

This is in order from what I've seen last

1. Zoey's Extraordinary Playlist: Mo

I looveee Zoey, but Mo is the true show stealer in my opinion. Also, he's awesome genderfluid representation!

2. SEAL Team: Sonny Quinn AND Lisa Davis

(I started this show as research for a Navy SEAL Evan Buckley fic but actually really enjoy watching this show)

I can't choose because I love them both so much. And ok, maybe Davis a liiiiitle more, but I still want to mention both.

By the way, it's kinda weird to love a character with your name...

3. Nurses: Grace Knight

Would have been Evan if he hadn't been written off. But that might be because I was totally crushing on him.

Grace might not always be the best, but this is one of the rare cases where I don't mind her bad decisions and love her anyway.

4. DNA: Kate Daans

Look, I just love hot lawyer lesbians ok. Did a pic cause I can't find a gif, probably cause the show is Dutch

5 should technically be Cunk on Earth but since it has only one fictional character... I'm gonna skip it

5. Our Flag Means Death: so it used to be Jim but I haven't seen past 2x02 yet and I heard they changed their character for the worse so we'll see

6. 9-1-1 (rewatch): Bobby Nash

*surprised shocks* I know I included Buck in my comfort characters post, BUT Bobby is my favorite, yet a tiny bit less of a comfort character

Also why is this the only gif I could find when looking up Bobby on here? My man deserves more.

So 7 is originally Jessica Jones, however I only watched 1 ep yet so I don't have opinions.

7. Bones: Jack Hodgins

Did not expect him to become my favorite when I started. I'm in season 9 or 10 so I'm not fully caught up yet, but I doubt it will change. I do kinda miss his conspiracy theories though, I loved laughing at those but also recognizing my grandmother in it 😂

8. Heartstopper: Nick Nelson

Don't need an explanation

9. Good Omens: Crowley

Azi used to be my favorite but this season I fell even more in love with Crowley

10. The Summer I Turned Pretty: Conrad Fisher is the only one I don't dislike in the show version oops

Like, in the books the characters were... kinda better?

Also, I stopped during 2x04 because I just can't get through it. It's so incredibly awkward to watch and I hate that the show made me dislike Belly who I loved in the books.
