in being somewhat new to the acotar fandom, I just want to say, yeah I don't think you're meant to like nesta until acosf, maybe not even then. everything that we see pre acosf is from feyre and rhys' pov, so of course we don't have any idea wtf nesta is thinking, what her reasoning is etc.

nesta is morally grey, complex, layered and I think that makes her so so interesting. and I'm just gonna put it out there, that if nesta were a male, everyone would like that character hell of a lot more and give them a lot more leeway.

hell, my feelings for nesta were so up and down and going into acosf I didn't know what to think of her. but her chapters were so intense .. so broken and sad to start, but then so moving and wonderful, I couldn't help but love her.

I love that when she went into the cauldron, she took too much from it. I like that it messed her up and led her on this huge journey of discovering who she is. I love that she found emerie and gwyn. I love that she defended them, to the end in the blood rite. it was all so suspenseful that I felt like I was on the edge of my seat whilst reading each page.

yes I will not deny that her relationship with her sisters is complex, but it always has been. families are difficult, especially considering what they have all been through. but I can't see how people will read the entirety of acosf and not understand her character. yeah people don't have to like her, but as with any character with intense trauma, there is more than meets the eye.

and with the Valkyries - nesta needed her own people. she felt alone and betrayed by elain staying with feyre. without gwyn and emerie, nesta wouldn't be the same at the end of acosf. no one is saying that the valkyries are replacing the inner circle - people are allowed to have friends outside of their family. and tbh, feyre and elain should both have friends outside of the ic.

gwyn is not replacing elain, and emerie with feyre. it's redundant to think so. they all exist outside of each other.

Emerie winning the blood rite and becoming Carynthian is actually the most important thing to happen in the Acotar series .

Emerie an Illyrian woman that had her wings clipped by her abusive father. A father that made Emerie dig her own mothers grave after he beat her to death. And later beat Emerie so bad that he broke her back.

Emerie who originally joined training to spite her abusive father. Then continued to train for months while simultaneously running her own business. And having to deal with family members harassing her.

Emerie was kidnapped from her own bed and forced to compete in a death tournament. Yet still managed to win the entire thing. Being the first Illyrian woman to do so.

And that was just in one book! Imagine where she’ll be by the end of the series.

ACOTAR opinions that should be universal but somehow aren’t

Tamlin, Lucien, and Eris do NOT need redemption arcs. They need healing arcs. Nesta did NOT need a redemption arc either, but rather a healing arc.

Neither Nesta nor Tamlin is morally grey; Nesta just has a strong personality some people can’t handle, and as much as SJM tried to retcon Tamlin, his issues in ACOMAF and ACOWAR just read as PTSD and dissociative identity disorder.

Lucien is a far better fit for Elain than Azriel.

Climb the mountain.

When i say Valkyries i don´t just mean the trio. I mean every single girl from the library who wakes up to train. They work just as hard. There is a huge chance the other girls will join and face their fears. I know lots of people like to make fun of the Valkyries because they hate Gwyn and Nesta. Although these are not just 3, MULTIPLE women turning their scars into strength. In the whole entire Acotar series this plot in general has to be the most realistic. How? Their is multiple girls and boys all over the real world who are still battling their demons. Overcoming your past does not mean Warrior. Their is strength for everybody on this planet to find and this plotline is a good example. Its not all about a warrior. Its how 3 broken girls find their value in life. They find a reason to wake up everyday and hope. They find a purpose for themselves. So yes indeed i do want another book that contains more Valkyrie content. It makes me personally feel emotionally stronger. If you want to make fun of these girls go ahead babe NO ones stopping you. Although these 3 girls and many more are warriors In mind,soul and heart.
