Just got home from the first stop on this tour and holy shit I can't recommend it enough.
I am incredibly biased as I absolutely love them, but truly, this was the most fun concert I've ever been to. My expectations were sky high, and yet they still surpassed them
Victoria Monet the “IT GIRL” what an amazing show!! I was so happy with how packed the place was! my girl deserves a wider audience fr!! Next tour will be on an even bigger stage 🫶🏽
There was a time in the late 90s when I couldn’t stand Chic (it’s a whole thing). I’ve long-since gotten over it, as my musical mind matured and I realized the brilliance of their sound and the talent of Nile Rodgers.
when the full Thee Sacred Souls album dropped last year, we were just starting to fall in love. we sang and danced to it often with hot breakfast on the stove, fresh coffee in the pot, and warm sunlight flooding in the new morning. it became our go-to for car karaoke, the backing soundtrack to our days teleworking beside each other, and a familiar companion on our evenings on the balcony holding each other in our arms.
we’ve become creative with the way we express our love, but the lyrics have often spoke for us when we were at a loss for words of our own. as musicians and music enthusiasts both, we knew immediately that this album was something special, but i think discovering it together as our love was blossoming allowed us to *fully* appreciate every song, every message, every single piece that created past versions of us and led us to be together, here & now.
we both spent years almost hopelessly seeking this kind of human-to-human connection: one sparked by instant & unmistakable chemistry, that starts and grows with sincere patience and understanding, and has the breadth and depth of a lifelong love (yet never fails to makes long strides every day). this connection made even the skeptics in us believe in ‘meant to be’. when you find something that rare, it’s easy to wake up each day and choose to nurture it.
so we’ll continue falling into this love that swept us up from the start and still, somehow, shows no sign of slowing down - just as we’ll continue spreading that love and joy to others because we know it’s something everyone deserves to feel. i’m also starting to think it’s this kind of love that will save the world.
btw: if you’ve never heard of thee sacred souls, here’s a playlist i made my dad to introduce him to the band + retro soul. ♡
