hi! it's been a while. i've been trying to work on ch1, and i'd been working on it even before the prologue was posted, but saying that things in my personal life have been hectic is an understatement.
with that being said, im back to answer any questions! either about the game, the story or the characters :)
I wish for this night-time
to last for a lifetime
The darkness around me
Shores of a solar sea
Oh how I wish to go down with the sun
Sleeping
Weeping
With you
Nightwish, Sleeping Sun
On August 2nd, 1999, Nightwish released their fourth single ‘Sleeping Sun’.
It was released as a maxi single with three other songs to coincide with the total solar eclipse that would occur on August 11th, in some parts of Europe.
To commemorate this event, Drakkar Records boss Bogdan Kopec came up with the idea of a special release exclusively for the German market and asked Tuomas to write a song.
Tuomas was not thrilled about doing made-to-work. “I was very much against the idea. They said that the song should be no longer than four minutes, it must follow a hit formula, it had to have a catchy chorus, and it must be a ballad. I think they also said it shouldn’t have a solo in it. Those were Boggi’s guidelines. But we did manage to squeeze in a solo after all!”
A video was shot and featured scenes of Tarja in the autumnal landscape of Lapland. In the concept video, the events were set to happen over the course of one night, ending with the eclipse.

So... I have not finished the prologue yet (I'm currently at the part where I head to the bus stop), but... this is *very* long for just a prologue, and also (at least so far) almost completely linear. I'm wondering if I misunderstood the genre. It says interactive fiction, but this feels more like a book than an interactive fiction game.
the prologue is only around 20k words which — to me, at least — is not that much, especially since i wanted to have the full introduction to the story before the actual action starts to pick up.
that being said, SS will for the most part just be story-based as opposed to choice-based, both because im still learning my way around twine and coding, and because the actual story is more about the narrative and the growth, and while there will be choices to make, none of them will be particularly groundbreaking – as in, no possibility of a bad ending, etc.
and maybe i didn't make that clear enough, and if you, or anyone else, feel in any way misled, im sorry for that!
A short comic about comorbidity rates between autism and various sleep disorders, from autistic people's own reports and accounts of their experiences.
I originally made this for #asdcomictakeover 2023, but my schedule was woeful and I didn't get it finished until many months after autistic acceptance month. But I figured I should have it somewhere on the internet before 2024 rolls around. Thanks for reading! Please understand that I'm just one person and I'm by no means a medical authority. This is not a diagnostic tool, but it does highlight the reality that many autistic people face with chronically disordered sleep patterns. I hope it can help for autistic people to seek help and feel understood if they fall into these comorbidities.
