Weather was beautiful, and so was the train ride. Went 1085 metres above ground.

The first book from Darcey Bussell in over six years, retired darling of the British Ballet for 20 years and beloved judge of Strictly Come Dancing, this publishing extravaganza coincides with the the superstar ballerina's 50th birthday.
Exquisitely produced, the book is filled with remarkable images of Dame Darcey Bussell in various notable locations, such as a pod of the London Eye, on top of the Victoria and Albert memorial, and performing at worldwide events, like the Olympics opening ceremony. The collection includes rare and unseen moments of Darcey shot by some of the most famous photographers, including Lord Anthony Snowdon, Mario Testino and Annie Leibovitz, in locations beyond the stage – including rehearsals, fashion shoots and more – which are accompanied by behind-the-scenes stories and personal anecdotes.
A fitting testament to one of our true national treasures, this glorious and charming book is a wonder to enjoy for years to come.

May 29, 1953 ... 2023 70 years ago, Mount Everest/Chomolungma conquered. Indeed it was a British-made 33 mm Smiths A409 wrist watch which was worn ON the top of Everest but Rolex 6098 watches were worn/carried TO the top of Everest. Since 1933, Rolex had been sponsoring Himalayan expeditions and secured a patent for the “Explorer” in January 1953. Remember it could have been Rolex first ON top of Mount Everest if British climbers Charles Evans and Thomas Bourdillon made it on May 26, 1953 but had to return after being very close to the summit. Three days later Edmund Hillary & Tenzing Norgay made it to the top! The 200+ years old Pen-Y-Grwyd hotel in Snowdonia - Wales was the birthplace & homebase of British Mountaineering. The place where training and testing of oxygen equipment for those Himalayan expeditions took place. A wonderful setting which was revisited by the 1953 expedition members during anniversaries! Weds 25th May:
Just a photo dump from Snowdon yesterday and more of the Great Orme today. Having a (mostly) lovely time away although I just realised this morning that I've been waking up all dizzy and fuzzy-headed because I haven't been taking my meds since the first night we got here 🤦🏼‍♀️ So ngl the withdrawal symptoms were pretty bad today, super disoriented and out of it, weird pins and needles in my feet and legs, headache, nausea. Stupidly blurted out at breakfast this morning when I realised this, and when my stepmam asked what meds I'd missed and I said antidepressants her immediate response was 'but you're not depressed are you? Don't get addicted to them!' Like come on man.. the other option was being absolutely miserable forever. Why the fuck would you say that?! Annoyingly her daughter later revealed that she also takes sertraline and hasn't told her mam for that exact reason - total lack of understanding. I'm kind of glad I just came out with it tbh they need to know it's very common to need a little help with your chemical balances 🤷🏼‍♀️
Anyway. My mam joined us for a nice slow hike up Mount Snowdon yesterday and the views were amazing. That's the first of the Three Peaks ticked off! Next up is Ben Nevis in July 🥾⛰
