One of my favorite genres of male character probably has to be the guy who, upon meeting a woman who can and does kick his ass, thinks “she kicked my ass, the only logical course of action for me now is to marry her.”

Gonna ask this to a few people that inspire me, but how do you take inspiration from things without feeling like whatever you make is just bad in comparison? Or like a downgraded version of the thing(s) that inspired you?
(If this is too negative feel free to delete/ignore, I'm sorry)
Oh gosh this is such an interesting question since, I dont think I really have feelings of thinking my version is bad? Or that I am just a copy?
I am honestly just grateful my work became as popular as it is in the first place haha- low expectations going in to begin with. That and, I am very aware my art style isnt as defined and polished as other peoples styles, but I have come to terms with this! And hey the improvement in my own artwork over the past year is a massive trip if you go back through some of my older stuff- I am improving, slowly.
I mean, 2AL started by complete accident, and was "inspired" from me wishing the Leos from OMO or MNMC would hug it out already- but if you were to compare 2AL to one of those, they are very different. Hell even comparing OMO and MNMC, same starting point, but still very different.
I think my only advice to other people trying to make an AU is to try and find some core theme/idea and work around that, rather than gather a bunch of little things from other sources you like into a big pile. Find some key message to start up a base with.

I love all the little details in In Stars and Time so much
(Just as a note, I am currently in (the beginning? of) act 3)
The way that after a few loops the excited "It's my allies!" turns into a less enthusiastic "It's my allies." (And I think it used to be "it's my friends!" but I'm not entirely sure)
The first time Siffrin knocks into the counter and gets embarrassed, and then another (the next?) time it's frustrated, and then playful, and then frustrated again but this time refusing to show it.
The little remarks that become "..." in later loops
I'm pretty sure the descriptions of the deaths got a little more graphic? I think when he slipped on the banana peel it said that he tripped or that he fell. In a later loop it said something about cracking their head open on a rock or something.
Their wish for victory became a wish for rest
It's just so interesting to me. For some reason, this game almost makes me feel like I'm reading a book. But also not really? I think it's because of how the details are laid out. My favorite stories to read have almost always been the ones that I can pick apart, and this game is very much like that.

I keep seeing videos online being like "back in my day we wanted toys and things that were popular and people around us also wanted for Christmas but now my kid wants trendy things and an Iphone 15"
and ive seen it phrased so many times that their idk 8 year old is like "I need the iPhone 15 for Christmas and I'm you bought me the iPhone 14 for my birthday but now that's old and crusty" and acting like wow my kid is so spoilt and bratty kids these days suck like - YOU ARE TJE ONE WHO BOUGHT A KID THE IPHONE 14 FOR THEIR BIRTHDAY?! THEY'RE 8. YOURE DOING THIS!
They act like it's the kids fault when really they're growing up with access to things they really oughtened to, and some of the other things are just "my friend thinks it's cool and the rich kids at school have it so I want it" like you millenia parent didn't do the exact same thing just with other things. I hate that they're making fun of the kids due to their parenting choices.
