Nightmares

Jason couldn’t sleep everytime he closed his eyes he was back in that place his grave. It was so dark he couldn’t move, couldn’t breathe he needed out now.

He woke up screaming it was so dark why was it so dark? was he back in his grave? that thought alone sent him into a panic he needed air why couldn’t he breathe, It’s too dark too cold bruce.... where was bruce?

Bruce shot up from his bed alerted by his sons screams.

He didn’t hesitate to run to jasons room when he entered he found his son shaking and gasping for breath.

Bruce ran to his side immediately. “Jay calm down you’re home in your room.. everything’s okay”, He began to stroke Jasons hair as he hugged him the boy was crying now.

Hearing his son cry absolutely destroyed bruce, he wished he could take away his pain and suffering.

“B-bruce?” the boy said between sobs.

“Yes i’m here you’re okay, just take deep breaths”.

Jason did as his father said after a few minutes he had calmed down enough to speak though he was still crying. “I had a nightmare... i’m sorry i didn’t mean to wake you” he said softly.

“Hey look at me” bruce gently turned the boys head to look at him, “You are my son and i will always be there for you when you need me understand”.

Jason didn’t know how to respond to that so instead he did something that he would deny forever, he hugged bruce. “I love you dad, i know i don’t act like it but i do”.

That was enough to make bruce tear up a little, he loved his children so much they were his world.

“Do you wanna talk about your nightmare?” Bruce asked

“not really it was just .....the usual” Jason shrugged.

Bruce knowing full well what the usual was left the topic alone for the night. “You should try to get back to sleep jaylad”.

Jason was not all that eager to close his eyes again “could you maybe stay in here with me?” the boy asked “please?” he quickly added.

“of course scoot over” and so they lay there quietly bruce gently stroking his sons hair to sooth him.

Dad will keep the nightmares away, thought Jason and he closed his eyes.
