Four years ago I sat in a psychiatrist's office. I was explaining why a certain Cognitive Behavioral Therapy technique felt impossible.
"If I don't think I know how a social interaction is going to work out, if I don't know the pattern, I can't do it."
The Dr nodded, and we moved on.
A few sessions later, she said she didn't think she could work with me anymore.
Great, I thought to myself. I'm being dumped by my therapist.
"I don't think I can work with you, because I think you're autistic."
I literally felt my world shift underneath me.
She explained more, about social interactions, about hyper sensitivity, about pattern recognition and anxiety and early-life academic achievement. I did end up stopping treatment with her, I don't really remember why. But I held that suggestion in my head.
The end of 2019 was rocky- working retail around the holidays is its own special hell, and my grandmother died in December of that year.
Then 2020 happened. COVID and isolation and protests and my workplace unionizing. Through all of that I was reading, and watching videos, and researching. About how autism and neurodivergency presents differently in girls and AFAB people. How the research is incredibly outdated and mostly focused on white, middle class boys. How getting a diagnosis as an adult, let alone an AFAB adult, is a fight.
I kept trucking along, learning new ways to cope. Figuring out that sometimes what I had thought were anxiety attacks was actually sensory overload. That my penchant for spreadsheets and what I called my "encyclopedic nerd brain" were probably hyper fixations.
It took 4 years.
4 years, 8 more mental health professionals, a mental breakdown, a month in residential mental health care, and 5 more months in acute daily mental health care, but today, at 12:55PM, I was officially diagnosed with Autism.
I'm sitting here at my desk weeping because I'm both so happy and so angry. Happy that there's a reason I feel the way I feel, that there's a reason why the world seems so harsh, that there's a reason why I sometimes physically can't talk and a reason why certain foods and sounds and textures make me want to crawl out of my skin. But I'm also so angry that it took 26 years for anyone to see. That it took another 4 years for me to get any answers. That there are countless other little girls and adult AFABS like me out there who feel like they're doing everything they're supposed to but not getting what the world tells them they should be getting.
My life has changed. Or maybe it hasn't changed. Maybe a door has opened that had never been seen before.
I'm not sure how to wrap this up.
I just know that learning more about myself is rarely a bad thing. And now that I know this big piece of who I am, I'll be able to go forward and learn more ways to exist in this world as an autistic person.

Lin Beifong has no wins in Legend Of Korra
Tumblr media
Something that always bothered me in regards to the way this series treated the character of Lin was the fact that it never felt like any of Lin's victories actually gave the feeling of being victories.
Maybe it's because it's been years since I watched this show, and I'm being selective in what I choose to remember, and I'm just unintentioanlly choosing to remember the bad over the good... but it feels like this series just felt a lot more comfortable dunking on Lin than actually trying to raise her up... And that kinda annoys me a little.
Tumblr media
Lin is part of this character achetype that I like to call "The Antisocials", people who, because of personal events in their past, prefer to avoid or have trouble dealing with others. She's basically meant to be the "Zuko" of the team.
I really like this trope, and I really like to see the earth element getting some love, so I was really excited to see Lin getting her moments to shine and kick some ass in the series... Which... for some reason doesn't feel all that prevalent.
Tumblr media
Now, don't get me wrong, when Lin needs to fight, she WILL fight, and she looks cool while doing it... But when it comes to her more memorable moments, her getting defeated sadly feels more frequent than her getting some victories.
Like... Let's take a moment to count her Ls:
She got dumped by Tenzin after another woman seduced him
A terrorist started to attack her city and kept getting away from her
She was unable to stop her men from getting captured and losing their powers
Eventually she herelf got captured and lost her bending
She's constantly getting mocked and looked down upon by other characters
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Her own sister left a scar on her face while committing a crime and faced basically no consequences, only to years later have a life filled with success while Lin is all alone
Her own mother acts like she couldn't care less about her struggles
Neither of the two ever gave Lin a proper apology and instead just tried to pull an Mirabel from "Encanto" and tell her to get over it
She basically played no role in all of season 2
And when she tired to face her family about her problems she was simply treated as the one in the wrong
Now let's count her "wins:"
She allowed Tenzin's family to get away from Amon in season 1... At the cost of her getting captured... Only for the family itself to get caught later anyway
She saved Korra from falling, which allowed Amon to get away with her men
In season 3 she gets clobbered by the combustion woman so her sister can land the finishing blow
Tumblr media Tumblr media
and In season 4 she tries to rescue her family, only to nearly fail and needing to be saved by her mother, who proceeds to give her the most bare-bones of moments of reconciliation, because God forbid we let our fan-favorite character from the first series show a little humility for her own daughter in her moment of weakness
Tumblr media
It just felt like the show was afraid of ever letting Lin be a badass and giving her a real win moment.
It doesn't even need to be a battle win. She could have had a moment with Korra where she teaches her some life lesson, or teach her how to metal bend and listen to the earth, or she could have had some scenes where her actions save the day, like, how come she never gets to save her sister and mother but both of them end up saving her? Or even some character moments like her bonding with Mako, or Tenzin's kids or something... I don't think she even really interacts with anyone in a meaningfull way.
If you were to ask me who her best friend in the series was, I would have no idea what to say.
Tumblr media
Her biggest "win" in the series was getting to wake up all happy after "solving" her personal demons, an act she achieved by... fighting her sister and venting out all her anger, I guess.
I don't know if it's just me but Lin's victories on the show all feel so shallow, as if they were telling us she was achieving things instead of actually feeling like she was. At times, she felt like the show's punching bag. Insted of being the Zuko of the story, she came more as the Squidward.
Tumblr media
Someone who's there just to lose to the villains and make them look strong and making other characters look cool while they save her with her big lesson being that she needs to learn to be less grumpy.
Lin should be so easy to make cool! Like, you see her design, her powers and abilities, her personality, her verstility for several different types of action scenes and versatility for also different interactions with the rest of the cast...
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
But instead it felt like they were throwing darts at a wall trying to pick a different way to dunk on her every time, as if they were afraid of makiing her too cool.
I don't know, maybe I'm just being salty and petty because I wish more had been done with her and that's causing me to only focus on the negatives, making them look and sound a lot worse than they actually were, while also ignoring all the big positives about her time on the screen...
But sometimes it felt to me like the show was more interested in hyping up everyone else and giving them a moment to shine over Lin.
Like, again, her own sister got to take down one of the big members of the Red Lotus, and she basically becomes one of the main characters in season 4, while Toph gets to train and help heal Korra.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
These two got to look so much cooler in just two seasons than Lin got to look in all 4, and I can't even fully enjoy them being cool because all I keep thinking when I look at them is "You two did Lin dirty."
If they had had an actual honest earned moment of reconciliation, I feel like I would be in heaven watching both of them kicking ass, cause again, I love the earth element, but instead I would just be "God, I wish this was Lin doing all this cool stuff instead."
I'm not exactly sure what the mindset was behind the way they wanted to handle her, not sure if there was studio interference, or mismanagement, or if Nickelodeon's meddling affected things, or what...
I'm just trying to say, I feel like Lin deserved better. I still like her character a lot but I can't help but feel even more could have been done with her.

Headcanons for how the Harbingers react to their S/O getting into a fight and just beating the breaks off of some assholes who were insulting their beloved Harbinger? And the Harbingers see this happen? But then the next time they see their beloved Harbinger, they wanna act like they slick and that they didn't just solo a bunch of people in a fight to defend their honor?
On it 🫡
Harbingers with an s/o who defends them
~~~~~
Pierro:
First of all, he’s frankly shocked
He was ready to deal with it himself, but THERE YOU GO—
Just kinda watches for a minute in shock before getting hit with pride
Of course he’s concerned for your safety
And he will scold you to make sure you don’t put yourself in danger
But the way you act so casual after will give him pause
How often do you do this???
How strong are you if you can solo a bunch of people and not break a sweat???
Confused and shook, but he appreciates it
“Next time, let me handle it, dear”
Capitano:
He normally wouldn’t even bother with people insulting him, unless it’s soldiers who need to be put in their place
But oh boy
When you go in, fists flying and WINNING that fight?
He is SO impressed
He never knew his s/o had so much hidden strength!
He would tell you to let him handle it, but he secretly likes being protected
It’s nice to have someone else take the wheel
He’s not really phased by you pretending you didn’t just lay a dozen people out in front of him
He’s casual about his achievements too, it’s no big deal
Y’all are a literal power couple, it’s kinda terrifying KGKBKDKV
Dottore:
He’d be shocked by two things: the fact that you had this much hidden strength, and the fact that you beat him to it…
He wants to study you (literally)
“My dear, why didn’t you tell me you were so powerful? I would’ve asked you to participate in my experiments sooner!”
Don’t do it bestie—
He’d find your casualness hilarious
Def wants to pick your brain and find out why you brush it off like “it was nothing”
(It’s bc you care about him, he’s just stupid)
Be prepared to fight off his experiments for a LONG time
Unless you want to participate for some reason???
Columbina:
She hides her surprise well
But honestly she’s delighted
She likes being protected, and she finds it adorable that she has a personal defender now
“Perhaps I should hire you as a bodyguard, hm?”
Even more amused by the casualness of it all
You can perform incredible feats of strength when it comes to defending her, and brush it off like it’s just another Tuesday
It’s impressive, especially for a human
If you’re visionless? That’s just even cooler
Columbina doesn’t want you to sell yourself short in front of her
So she will encourage you to display your strength more often
She definitely doesn’t just think it’s hot, not at all /s
Arlecchino:
How did you beat her to it???
Seriously, she’s so fast to deal with insubordination, your speed is terrifying
Not to her tho
She thinks it’s impressive as hell, and she just watches with a smile
Doesn’t really get why you’re so casual about it
“You can’t seriously be trying to gaslight me into believing it wasn’t impressive 😒”
Lets you handle things from now on
Nobody else gets that honor
You are her personal bodyguard
Is it because she likes watching you fight, or watching people in pain from the outside?
The answer is both
Everyone is scared of y’all
Pulcinella:
One of the few who’s just worried, not impressed
A bit shocked, but the concern takes over fast
“Are you alright????”
Utterly baffled when you not only emerge without a scratch
But without even seeming to care about what you did
“Oh haha yeah it’s nbd, I’m happy to defend you”
“YOU TOOK OUT TEN PEOPLE”
You’re giving this man a heart attack
He tries to keep you away from people insulting him now
He doesn’t want you making things worse unintentionally, or getting hurt
Mostly getting hurt
He can’t stop you all the time tho, so plenty of rude politicians end up in the hospital still 😭😭
Scaramouche:
Again, how did you beat him to it
He’s annoyed at first, bc he had it under control
But that vanishes when he sees you LAY WASTE to the idiots that insulted him
He’s so impressed
He will hide it, of course, but he would be so bad at it
Especially when you brush it off after he asks about it
“What do you MEAN it’s no big deal????”
His tone sounds like he’s berating you
But he’s actually hyping you up
*don’t sell yourself short, you’re amazing, you’re so cool and strong aaaAaAaa*
That’s what he’s thinking
You are VERY impressive for a mortal
And if he lets you take care of insubordination from now on? Well that’s none of anyone’s business
Sandrone:
Honestly? She’s slightly annoyed that you damaged them so badly
She wanted some new dolls, dang it
BUT!!!
She also loves it 😭😭
She’s highkey down bad for you, and this only made it worse
Annoyed when you ignore what happened
“Don’t just pretend nothing happened, doll”
Demands an explanation as to HOW you did that
If she doesn’t get one, she’ll be pissy 😭
But hey at least she has a super strong partner who can take care of the dirty work so she doesn’t have to
Signora:
Dawg
This woman is not easily flustered
But you did the impossible and actually got her to blush
RIZZED UP
She would hide it fast, but man you impressed her
She doesn’t need protection at all, but she will accept it if it comes from you
Still, she makes sure you understand just how reckless that stunt was
“Let me take care of it from now on”
Lowkey angry when you pretend it never even happened
You can’t just do that??? And not answer any questions about it???
The audacity
Still, genuinely proud of you, happy, and a tad concerned for your safety
Pantalone:
Now where did you get those skills from???
This man is hella curious
“You never told me you could do that, darling…”
When you answer with “do what?”
Oh man, the offended look on this man
He doesn’t like secrets being kept from him, even if it… isn’t really a secret
Will deliberately bring you to places he knows he’ll get insulted
Partially bc he wants you to acknowledge it, and partially bc he also loves the feeling of being defended like that
He also likes seeing his enemies get the shit beat out of them
Congrats, you’re his personal bodyguard now /srs
Like he will deadass pay you money
You have a new job now KRKBKBKWKKV
Tartaglia:
I saved the best for last (I totally don’t just go in rank order every time so I don’t leave anyone out, nooo…)
My god this man is EXCITED
He is RIZZED
“Beautiful, fun, AND strong??? You’re so perfect :D”
No matter how much you pretend it didn’t happen, he won’t let it go
Constantly asking you to spar
He will talk bad about HIMSELF just to see if you’ll fight him
It wont work
Please please spar with him, he’ll be so happy
Of course he doesn’t want you to put yourself in excessive danger
But he will offer to train you
POWER COUPLE!!!
He loves having someone who will watch his back
He will have to keep you from overdoing it tho 😭😭😭 sometimes it’s better to let things go than fight
braven and superbia theory :]
so my discord server allowed me to be stupid on main and rant about bravern at 11:30pm my time, so here’s just.. everything copy and pasted LMAO
also, posting this before ep4 drops, i can’t wait to see if any of my ramblings made sense
theory under the cut, spoilers for bang brave bang bravern ep. 1-3 and ep. 4 preview
the theory is this: bravern and superbia are the same species, possibly related to the deathdrives
firstly, in episode 1 and episode 3 we see bravern with a mask thing covering his face. and when you look at superbia, it seems as though they have something similar
Tumblr media
i wouldn’t say that part is superbia’s actual face, due to the purple highlights/crystal looking things on their body. bravern’s eyes are green, and he does have a green crystal or piece of glass on that gold part of his face
and also, bravern has a green background in his transformation sequences and when we first meet him.
there’s also a green trail left by him when he flies in the intro + uses his blade.
the show’s logo briefly flashes green in the op
and the green in bravern’s cockpit + the weird green liquid from ep3
and superbia’s eyes do flash purple in the op, so i’m willing to bet superbia wears a mask much like bravern when we first meet him
and now when you look at bravern and superbia, they do seem very much alike
plus, the opening hints at superbia being somewhat relevant at least, due to the fact that in most anime openings, the fight featured in it is at least somewhat relevant to the story
and also, bravern knows superbia
Tumblr media
the “you never change” implies that bravern’s fought against superbia before, or known them in the past
plus, the opening and show kind of confirmed lulu pilots superbia
1. lulu and isami have very similar outfits when piloting
2. this scene in the opening. the character does resemble lulu and the necklace looks like it was made to resemble superbia
Tumblr media
3. again, the weird liquid in the mechs’ cockpits
so in other words, bravern and superbia are definitely very similar
plus, we saw that bravern was losing to superbia without isami
without a pilot
and lulu magically appeared on a beach after superbia was defeated. and coincidentally, superbia was in the deep waters when we first see a hint of them.
and i just wanna point out that smith had no idea what lulu meant when she said her name, but bravern understood.
Tumblr media
and he didn’t look too happy about that
and in the preview for episode 4, we see a few scenes of bravern essentially being in a shitty mood. kind of looks like he’s lashing out here?
Tumblr media Tumblr media
and then at the end we see a scene of lulu looking confused, and we immediately cut to this?
Tumblr media Tumblr media
so to just tldr the point that bravern and superbia are part of the same species:
1. they share similar traits and visuals in the show (mainly the colours i talked about)
2. they both have pilots
3. they have a history together (we see superbia scoffing at bravern a few times, and bravern’s quote: “you never change”)
4. bravern shows a clear dislike for superbia and isn’t all too happy about lulu
and now, the other thing: bravern and superbia are some advanced form of the deathdrives, or are related to them
so first off, when the deathdrives are defeated, they go kaboom and explode into this weird cube shaped stuff
Tumblr media
and what happened to superbia after bravern and isami’s attack?
Tumblr media
additionally, when battling superbia, bravern attacked them with a punch, which they stopped with a purple shield
and what else uses a purple shield?
yup. the deathdrives
and in episode 2, bravern explains that they’re inorganic, metallic organisms that gained something like a conscience. and both bravern and superbia show to have that
bravern’s can be sean very clearly. he talks a lot.
superbia? all we hear from them are shrieky noises and scoffing. and what do we hear from lulu? also that
so to just tldr this entire rant/rambling:
bravern and superbia show signs of being from the same species. they both needing a pilot to achieve their true strength, without them they’re not as strong.
the deathdrives also show similarities to them; that being the similar way they “die” (we’re not sure if superbia actually died in ep3, so i’m putting the word in these “ ”guys), similar abilities (barriers/shields, flight, weaponry?).
so basically, to put all of this short: bravern and superbia are some advanced form of the deathdrives, probably existing to be something like commanders in an army, seeing how superbia kind of teamed up with the deathdrives?
anyway, hope this makes sense LMAO 😭
Look at these two…
They actually have a lot at stake in life but here they are, just happy being with each other.
Tumblr media
Gif by @loveisalwaystheanswer
Tommy’s life is a mess at this point- ambition, business and family all screwed up. His brother is accused of murder and most likely will be executed, his young cousin is in jail, his aunt is scared as shit and his businesses attacked. On top of that, he should be focused on May due to the fact that she is the key to achieving the next step of his world domination (read: London) plan. A young widow who is mesmerised by his charm and intelligence, is loaded with money and contacts AND all he has to do is sleep with her. BUT NO. WHY? Because Grace is here. And he hasn’t spent a day without thinking about her. While she is married to another man. But she is here now. She called him. And he obviously is going to meet her. Not just meet her but impress her. Bet, the moment he found out that Charlie Chaplin was going to be in town, his first thought must be “I wonder if Grace likes Chaplin, damn I would have taken her to meet him”!! And then she probably called and he knew exactly what he is going to do when they meet.
And Grace. Who is equally screwed up. Married a rich, kind and LEGITIMATE banker in NY trying to move on from her past. The kind of man, her father would have actually approved of, proud even to call him his son-in-law. She is trying to start a family with the sweet and kind husband so she can completely move on with her life and not think about a certain bookmaker from Birmingham. But here she is, back in UK because she is made to feel like a loser for not being able to bear a child. And first thing she does is call him!! Does she expect anything to happen when they meet? Absolutely yes. Will she stop herself? Maybe. Does she plan to use him for testing her fertility? Wait what? Who cares! It’s the man who drinks tea and the last time they had tea, was the best tea of her life. So will she stop herself? Absolutely not. Because it’s him. It’s THEM. The couple who kill together should be together.
So here they are, not giving a f*#k about business, society, morals, ambition, even family and Stealing a few moments for themselves. Just being happy with each other.
Honkai's retconning of Self-Sacrifice
Can we talk about something that's been bothering me?
It's the complete retcon of Mei's character - and by proxy Kiana's - and the overturning of nearly all the buildup to this current arc.
When Kiamei find out that they can beat the Honkai by taking the power of Finality, but that it comes at the cost of one of them becoming the HoFi, why are they completely okay with that? There isn't a single protest from Mei when Kiana - unprompted, by the way - says that she's okay with it, and that she has resigned herself to her fate as the HoFi. And that's so disappointing.
The entire plot up to this point, if you think about it, really hinges on one thing. Himeko's sacrifice. Or, at the very least, everything from Diane's Sojourn (Ch. XI-1) to Thunders over Nagazora (Ch. XVII). That's a good solid chunk of the plot.
Kiana only goes to Arc City because of her guilt. Fu Hua had to stop her from putting a bullet through her skull because of that guilt, and even though Himeko's sacrifice is the catalyst for Kiana's eventual character growth and development (that was completely destroyed by the recent story), it has never been a good thing!
Mei only joins World Serpent because ultimately, she fails to show Kiana that there are other people who care about her and want the best for her. She only goes down this path of self-hatred and darkness and destruction because she couldn't save both the world and Kiana, and she chose Kiana over the world in the end.
"Kiana, you're always like this. Even when you're battered, you still force a smile. You saved me. You saved us all. Yet you shoulder everything alone, at the cost of your life."
Remember this line? Mei was so against Kiana's "mission" of self-sacrifice and attempt to atone for Himeko's death with her own life that she beat Kiana until she had to resort to her Herrscher form. She was absolutely serious about stopping her! You know, Ms.
"You're the most important person in my life. If rescuing you is a sin, I'll gladly become a sinner."
But I suppose that's been retconned now that Mei is "completely like Elysia." Which brings me to another topic. Mei's character building after meeting Elysia.
I'm not saying the destruction of the ER was a bad move - it was a completely fine plot point. But why, when Mei is said to care about Elysia so much, is she okay with how Elysia died? Why is she so positive about her experience in the ER and EE when she watched thirteen of her friends, who meant literally everything to her when she was there, die painfully and almost for nothing in front of her? She was absolutely devastated when Pardo died in her arms, and yet she's completely okay with it now?
The whole point of the ER and EE stories, to me, was that cold logic and keeping to oneself is what made the PE fail. The ER was never meant to be a hall for achievements and happiness. It was a place where the successors could learn where their predecessors failed! It was literally a collection of souls who were so fragmented in life and so cut off from each other that even though they were the "13 Flamechasers", they couldn't work together to muster a single attack against Finality. THEY'RE NOT MEANT TO BE ROLE MODELS.
And Elysia's story was never about "being happy all the time", it was about how she was so loving and determined that she literally changed fate. She wasn't a perfect being from the get go. And neither should Mei be, now.
Finally, Even Kiana's willingness to be self-sacrificial and turn into the HoFi is absolutely insane to me. She punched a hole in space and time to get Fu Hua back.
"Why is it always like this? Trading sacrifices for so-called victories. It's unacceptable. Give Fu Hua back to me!"
So in the end, this meant nothing, too? All the lessons the girls learned about relying on each other and not sacrificing one for the other, and Kiamei's entire arc from Thunders over Nagazora to them reuniting on the Moon Base? And for what?
The Power of Friendship? Ely/Mei parallels? Kiana HoFi? It's just all so badly done that it's almost laughable.
(big thanks goes to my babu @rainmarginals for ranting with me,,)
What's the garden au tell me about it I'm intrigued
@valkyrkinnie feel free to add onto this because I'm braindead atm
just pasting the entire document here to be real
Garden of Afton au or just, "the garden", is just an excuse for every diverging continuity we make up.
The reasoning behind every continuity is that Michael is in a time loop, beginning from the moment Ennard decides to leave its flesh suit and he wakes up on that warm sidewalk.
To get out of this time loop, he's got to fix all the mess his father made by destroying every animatronic related to the incident.
If he dies, he starts over, left with only an incredible sense of unease and deja vu if he goes towards the wrong path once again.
But no matter the continuity, there's always one thing that's always there; the garden.
Before everything, the Aftons had a prize winning garden that Mrs. Afton kept up with mostly.
It's also where she and Elizabeth are buried, with Ballora burying her own corpse and the latter by William.
The garden has always existed, and will always exist no matter its dilapidation.
Commonly, Ballora will be drawn to it and will realize her identity as the late Mrs. Afton.
This all acts as an alternative to Pizzeria Sim; it never happens.
Here's where we get nightmare gas leaky. The time loop? it's fabricated.
At the end of the final, completed loop, Michael wakes up from a medically induced coma he was placed under by Henry. By Michael destroying everyone in this hyperrealistic dream, he frees them from the real world also. They agreed that this would be the end of it.
All Michael remembers is the very last loop that in his mind lasted years, when in reality it lasted about 2 months. Needless to say, he regrets ever signing those papers.
However, there were some loops where Henry seriously considered killing Michael so that he never would've known that this was just a dream.
Loops where he was finally happy. where he brought them together and made them whole. Because at least then, the end goal was still achieved; they could never hurt anyone in the real world again.
And Michael himself would finally have peace.
Michael waking up can ALSO segway into him brutally attacking Henry for this sort of torturous 2 and a half month long nightmare, with Henry agreeing to put him back under for good and they both pass on.
Which THEN segways to Michael accidentally possessing Glamrock Freddy years later while he's in the parts and services protective dome. And Gregory is playing Simon Says on his FACE.
The universe hates Michael so he exists only as a foil to his father. To clean up his mess and ultimately live in his shadow.
So if Michael is here now after dying 6 years ago... so is he.
But Henry could've never even anticipated William returning in the form of Glitchtrap.
The whole time traveling part requires Henry to die here, because then his soul is freed to literally fuck around and find out. Retaining information he's gained from different timelines and continuities, bringing them to others, trying to find *some way* to patch things up. Something typically always goes wrong, yknow butterfly effect and chaos theory bullshit. But he can dream, at least.
It all boils down to "what if he could save them all?" He can't, and he realizes this. but DAMN he will try.
The first thing he does is stop Michael from ever signing those documents. He doesn't need him anymore. There's no point in putting Michael through all that torture again.
He doesn't DESERVE any of that.
Whatever time to quantum suicide to the gay reality.
-
My favorite is when Henry shows up to Fazbear's closing in 1993 to stop William from having a workplace accident (eviscerating himself inside Springbonnie).
William being completely shell shocked because HIS Henry completely denounced ever wanting to see his face again and here he is just, nonchalantly walking up to him. Takes a drag of a cigarette and goes "yeah don't do that".
1st - The actual fear gas experimenting time loop shit. The "canon" timeline.
2nd - Michael getting trapped in The Good Timeline after Henry kills him (Michael refurbishes all the animatronics of his family himself, runs fazbears, etc)
3rd - Henry dies and his soul is freed to fuck around and find out.
Hell, all of this is more just a prologue to everything considering I mostly fuck around with 3rd continuity Henry anyway.
How would the city yans feel about a darling that’s a trophy? Like raised for academic achievement only and if she can’t perform, she is very strictly punished so now she has to go to as much school as possible to make her parents happy when the only thing she wants is to just rest for once.
Reminds me of my days doing college prep and being in the gifted kid program, i had my first panic attack in the 6th grade cause i didn't get an A once and that meant my mom wouldn't love me(She did indeed stop liking me in highschool when I gave up on being extremely smart lmao), anyways the answer is obviously killing the parents.
another pj masks au (villain swap au)
I'm not changing anything except the villains motives for hating the pj masks, so the villains powers and stuff will stay the same.
NN: orticias motives. Night Ninja was new to the city and didn't have any ninjalinos (yet). Ready to begin his career as a ninja, he started making sticky splats in the park one night. An Yu, who had already been released from the gong by the PJ masks at that point, went to go stop him, remembering how the ninjas in her time acted. NN was attacked by an yu for seemingly no reason, making him hate her and her allies.
Luna: Octobellas motives. Since she's from the moon with no way to return (motsuki isn't her sister in this au, and therefore she can't teleport) everything that comes from the moon is as precious as gold to her. When she left her moon crystals unprotected for a night to go and steal a smoothie, gekko (without knowing it was hers) took it back to HQ, where PJ robot found a way to feed its energy into the PJ crystals, draining it of its power. Luna has never forgiven gekko for this, and vows to make him pay.
Romeo: Speedy twins motives. He's still a scientist, but is less obsessed with taking over the world and more obsessed with making his lab the best lab on the planet, so everyone will recognise him as the greatest scientist of all time. In order to do this, he needs to steal equipment, which makes the PJs his enemies as they try to stop him.
Wolfy kids: Muki Gu's motives. The wolfies aren't evil, they just love pranks (which is canon), and sometimes take things a bit too far. They don't care about becoming full wolfy, they just want to have fun at night to get away from the boringness of daytime, even if its at the expense of others.
Motsuki: Night Ninjas (s1) motivation. She was romeo's lab experiment in this AU, and similar to her canon counterpart, struggles with being told she's not as good as he is. Although the duo live together, she spends most of her time alone, and wants to prove she's the best at everything to spite romeo. She does this mostly by stealing stuff from school: if nobody else can paint/play sport/read comics, then she'll have to be the best at it by default.
Munki Gu: Luna's motivation. After being trapped in a statue for 1000 years, he's pretty bored. He steals toys, books, games, anything he wants, just for fun. He hates being bored, and will do literally anything to not be bored. He's fairly friendly with the PJ masks, due to gekko being th one to free him, but that doesn't mean he's willing to not steal things when they ask.
Octobella: wolfy kids motivation (hear me out) after reading stories about cthulu, krakens, and other octopus-style mythical creatures, she decided that they were cool as hell and wanted to figure out how she too could become giant and scare sailors. She hasn't found a way too yet, but this hasn't stopped her from stealing many crystals and other magical artifacts from the museum in the hopes that they will magically turn her into a much cooler version of herself.
Pharaoh boy: gloops motivation, or part of it, at least. After 4000 years, he is shocked and annoyed that the world is nothing like the one he's used to, and thinks that he could make it way better if he restored it to the glory of the ancient egyptian days. He still wants to rule until the end of time, but he's also pretty fond of redecorating- aka, using magic to create sandstorms and make the city much hotter. He's also built a night ninja statue-esque pyramid in the park one time.
Orticia: Motsukis motivation. When octobella was messing around with stuff from the museum, she accidentally messed with orticias seed, creating her. Orticia is now Octobella's self-proclaimed little sister, and wants to help her achieve her goals no matter what. The two fight occassionally, but octobella is happy for the extra help and they have a pretty good relationship for the most part
Pirate Robot: Romeo's motivation. He wants to take over the world, believing that robots are superior to humans. He is actually terrible at starting the robot uprising, as most of his plans involve attacking the museum with pudding or putting robot propaganda posters up at the school, but the pj masks have to stop him anyway. they still think he's silly and kind of like him, just like in canon though. He's just that bad at taking over the world.
Speedy twins: Pharaoh boy's motivation, but instead of wanting to rule the world, they want to rule the racing world. They tend to cause destruction with their reckless driving, and refuse to stop no matter how much damage they cause. They have stolen the PJ vehicles before, not to take their parts, but so that the PJ masks couldn't have any vehicles that could possibly stand a chance in a race against the flashcar
Gloop the third: pirate robots motivation. He loves shiny things, and wants to collect cool treasure from earth to decorate his home back on planet gloop with. He has no other motivations, he just flies around in the gloopster looking for earth treasure
did you know that this post is almost 900 words. Thanks for getting through the whole thing (:
❤ I LOVE JELLAL FERNANDES! 💙
He was made as slave since childhood, but he still has a smile for every one, a hant to offer, a word to make everyone feel better! He was a leader and a protector.
He was the first one to blame himself about Sho's plan, and the only one that went to save Erza.
He was tortured for days, beaten, punished, electrocuted, and more, he got MAGIC possesed, and MAGIC brainwashed by Ultear and became a slave from that magic.
Everyone in TOH was there by choice in that moment, but he was the only one without choice bc he was possesed.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
Even so, since he took charge of the tower, no person there was treated badly bc happy workers work more, as he, while being possesed, said in the manga, also, every person there learned to use magic if they pleased.
He then was rescued by Erza and Natsu, free himself from possesion and the first thing he did was take Erza's place inside the lacryma and redirected the explosion, saving everyone in there, no one but Simon, died that day, and anyone who said otherwise is a vile liar.
Tumblr media
In Nirvana he wakes up thanks to Wendy. His only memory is Erza's name, the most important person for that enslaved lost boy, and even so, he knows he has to stop Nirvana, and the only way is using a destruction seal spell, that' why he activates Nirvana, no as some ignorant will said that he did it to hurt people, Jellal actually was about to destroy the artifact and would have save everyone, even at the cost of his life bc that way he will protect the codes of deactivation, and he will free Erza from himself bc even if he has no memory about TOH, the true Jellal, woukd have never hurt his friends, that's why he cries when Erza tells her about what happened on TOH.
But Brain came, and deactivated the seal, that's not Jellal fault, if you know how to read you will easily realized that, but not anyone is good at reading, so dont worry, here are the pages, these are the FACTS and not biased and wrong interpretations:
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Then he gets arrest, even if he is innocent, still he takes the responsability, and he smile when Erza stops his friends that are fighting for him, bc he knows is the best for them, and of course, the best for Erza.
Later, he joins CS, bc he realized he would do more figting against darknest than rotting away in a prison, and he does, with Meredy and Ultear, the fight the evil and protect the innocents.
After that, O6 breaks from prison, he goes to talk with them, they asked is he is going to capture them again, but he says no, that's ridiculous, he only wants to talk, but they attack him firts, and he defends himself and realized that they only will listen if he wins that battle, so he wins it, and tells him the true, if they keep themselves in the dark path, like they wanted too, they will never have the freedom they want, just a reminder, this people O6 they have killed people for real, just remember that Sorano killed Karen just bc she feel like it.
O6 realized that it is true, they dont want to keep themselves in the darkness, and they decided to follow him. THEY DECIDED!!! They are not children that Jellal forced too, they are adults that were presented with a choice and they choosed. Also, you can see in the anime how they left Jellal and Meredy for a while, and they come back to them and protected both of them from Rustyrose, finally THEY DECIDED to join Crime Sòrcière looking for atoning and redemption and the true freedom, something they achieved at the end of the manga, they got a Royal pardon, they become free people, later we learned that Erik and Kinana are dating, and Sorano joined Sabertooth with her sister, bc they were always free to do what they wanted, they were not forced by Jellal. Actually you can see in Rhodonite spin-off that Jellal says to Meredy that he is not chains to bid them, they are free to come and go as they please.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Adding at this, Ultear has said multiple times that she was the one controlling Jellal actions, she brainwashed and mind controlledd him, she was the one that killed Simon, she was the one that killed Meredy's family and village, she was the one that fuck up Jellal's life, even so Jellal forgives her, and doesn't use this facts to absolve himself. He stills feels guilty even if he was innocent in all these, he still wants to protect people from slavery, from tortured, from darkness.
Tumblr media
And if we have to add a little of FT100YQ, we see how, even if he has received all the forgiveness from everyone, he still wants to follow his path of protecting people from darkness, bc this is the real Jellal, the little slaved, malnurished, abused, tortured child that always had a smile, a hand, an word to offer to other people that need some light and help in their lifes.
Tumblr media
He is an amazing character, sadly, some people are too closed minded, short-sighted and ill-intended to understand his deepness, his richness and his beautiful heart, but I know, there is a lot of people that loves him, and understand him, and care for him... to all of you...
THAN YOU VERY MUCH! 🙇🏻‍♀️💙❤
Ps: You have the right to hate every character you want for any reason, or even without reason, but spreadind wrong information as facts, its bullsh!t.
The Harkers are both selfish.
Well, sort of. In a selfless, self-sacrificing way.
I've had this idea percolating for the past few days... something about how Jonathan and Mina represent a sort of example of selfish love, despite their complete willingness to make personal sacrifices for one another. Or rather, in many instances, their selfish motivation leads to selfless actions. They also demonstrate a neat contrast with Arthur/Lucy as an example of desire over duty, in certain ways.
The TL;DR goes something like "JonMina are deeply in love and increasingly feral," but if you want a much longer and more specific exploration, there's the cut.
To start off, their romance is very supportive of one another. They both work to make sure the other has no need to make sacrifices, or at least so that their sacrifices are both made in service of future happiness. So, Mina may be quitting her job as a teacher, but (quite aside from it being a cultural norm to stop working after being married) she isn't giving up on her work entirely, she's planning to help Jonathan. He's working himself extremely hard in order to be able to afford to marry her sooner. Mina mentions once that they have to be careful with their money since they aren't as well off as Lucy, for example. They're still probably wealthy enough to have a few servants, but definitely at the lower end for their expected class. They are making a bunch of small sacrifices but those are all made together, with a clear sense that they've discussed these moves and are planning for the future. It's a trade-off, in order to achieve their goal (being married happily) sooner. Any little sacrifice from one is either matched or shared for the most part, and they tend not to even view them as sacrifices so much as they are excited for the future. This is kind of a 'selfish' point of view if you feel the need to inflict that kind of binary, but definitely not in any negative way, more just knowing what they want and actively working towards it.
It's only when Dracula comes into the picture that we start seeing them making real sacrifices. And for the most part, they're all very understandable.
I'm going to talk through these in a bit more detail in a moment, but just to preface - there's definitely a trend of things getting more and more intense as we go along. And the more that happens, the more selfish/selfless each decision becomes. And the more they choose individually instead of together.
Mina leaves Lucy behind to go care for Jonathan
Jonathan asks her not to read the journal but trusts her to do so if needed
Jonathan tries to throw himself back into regular life; Mina hides her own worries to stay strong for him
Mina reads his journal and shares it with Van Helsing, they start vampire hunting
Jonathan leaves Mina out, and she doesn't protest
Mina submits to Dracula's attack so that he doesn't harm Jonathan; she declares herself unclean/unworthy of touching him, which he denies
Mina decides to kill herself if she hurts anyone she loves, and asks others to kill her; Jonathan decides to join her in vampirism
Mina asks to be left out again, and Jonathan breaks his vow not to put any distance between them
Leaving Lucy behind is a tough call, but very understandable given that she is starting to do a little better and has more people to support her. Meanwhile, Jonathan has been missing for a long time and Mina pretty much presumed him dead. This is an example of her choosing Jonathan over others but nothing too egregious. It shows how devoted to him Mina is, that she drops everything to go to him.
The reason I listed the journal is because it's a mixed bag here. It shows great trust and faith in Mina, and he has very excellent reasons to not fully know whether to believe it himself/to not want anyone else to know. But he is giving up any hope of certainty or reassurance about what happened to him in favor of trying to be happy with Mina. He's deliberately choosing not to dig further, and that's a sacrifice in a sense. So is Mina's willingness to go along with this - but both are made out of love and a focus on their future, just like before.
When they actually try to resume normal life though, the cracks are very much showing. Jonathan has PTSD, and Mina is extremely stressed out about him but trying very hard not to show it. If he weren't doing so poorly, she probably would've been by to see Lucy sooner. Both of them are trying to make sacrifices for the other one (Jonathan throwing himself back into the groove of normal life, Mina being supportive) without really consulting together in the same way as before, and eventually it isn't sustainable. Mina has permission to read his journal, so it isn't exactly a betrayal, but it is a sacrifice. She's giving up on the notion that the efforts both of them have been making since coming back are working. She's giving up, very soon, her natural skepticism and her peace of mind about the state of the world and what exists in it. Again, this is a 'selfless' act in the sense that it involves personal sacrifice for his sake, but 'selfish' in that her love for him is what matters most and any sacrifice in service of that is necessary to make. The more selfless act is for them both to go all in on Dracula hunting right away, though that may be somewhat necessary to give Jonathan closure.
They briefly come back together again and are working in concert, but at the suggestion of the other members of the group Jonathan agrees to leave Mina out for her own good. This seems at first to be the height of discord between them; they talk very little. Mina tries to hide her tears from Jonathan, and while he notices he doesn't talk to her about it. There's a total communication breakdown for a little while. And the reasoning is their usual brand of selfish concern for the other, but for the first time we see it actively hurt the other person. Jonathan wants Mina safe and protected from Dracula's influence, and in trying to ensure that he makes her feel left out and undervalued, and leaves her vulnerable to Dracula. Mina wants to support Jonathan and to stay as close to him as possible, and in doing so hides and dismisses her own feelings and symptoms which leads to Dracula's worst attack. I definitely think there is some direct Dracula magic interfering with Mina (at a minimum) here, but the result is the same. And at this point, they kick things into high gear.
Obviously, Mina is the most physically harmed that night. But Jonathan is hurt deeply too. (Also: obviously neither are at fault for anything here, the blame lies with Dracula, but this is more about how they feel than the facts of the situation.) She knows he wouldn't hesitate to put himself in danger to protect her from Dracula, but she feels the same way and so submits to Dracula's bite in order to protect him. This makes them both feel guilty - Jonathan for being right there and unable to stop it, as well as for being the hostage she had to protect; Mina for 'agreeing' in any sense to such an act. Mina feels unclean afterwards (because she knows she resembles his source of trauma) and tries to sacrifice herself for his sake, unwilling to touch him as she is now. Jonathan in turn rejects this, fully willing to bear with any possible flashbacks it may cause because Mina is more important to him.
Now we get to the next day. I actually want to quote a little bit for this one, because it's the key to all of this and why I wanted to write this meta. Mina and Jonathan both take their thoughts to extremes of self-sacrifice for the other, without consulting one another at all.
"But dear Madam Mina, are you not afraid; not for yourself, but for others from yourself, after what has happened?" Her face grew set in its lines, but her eyes shone with the devotion of a martyr as she answered:—
"Ah no! for my mind is made up!"
"To what?" he asked gently, whilst we were all very still; for each in our own way we had a sort of vague idea of what she meant. Her answer came with direct simplicity, as though she were simply stating a fact:—
"Because if I find in myself—and I shall watch keenly for it—a sign of harm to any that I love, I shall die!"
"You would not kill yourself?" he asked, hoarsely.
"I would; if there were no friend who loved me, who would save me such a pain, and so desperate an effort!" She looked at him meaningly as she spoke.
+
Then without a word we all knelt down together, and, all holding hands, swore to be true to each other. We men pledged ourselves to raise the veil of sorrow from the head of her whom, each in his own way, we loved; and we prayed for help and guidance in the terrible task which lay before us.
It was then time to start. So I said farewell to Mina, a parting which neither of us shall forget to our dying day; and we set out.
To one thing I have made up my mind: if we find out that Mina must be a vampire in the end, then she shall not go into that unknown and terrible land alone. I suppose it is thus that in old times one vampire meant many; just as their hideous bodies could only rest in sacred earth, so the holiest love was the recruiting sergeant for their ghastly ranks.
Both of them state firmly that their minds are made up. Neither have consulted the other, and in fact there seems a deliberate intent to leave the other out. Mina leaves Jonathan along with the rest to piece together her meaning at first, while Jonathan agrees with the group to free Mina from Dracula's influence right before resolving to join her if needed. And here we see a kind of divide for the first time between the previously-overlapping selfishness and selflessness.
Mina is determined to die rather than become like Dracula or Lucy. She is willing to kill herself, which would in fact sacrifice her soul just as surely, in order to ensure her corruption does not spread to others she loves. She will protect Jonathan from herself at whatever cost is necessary, whether he likes it or not. She is the selfless side to their love, she is protecting others no matter the personal cost.
Jonathan is the opposite. His decision here directly repudiates Mina's stated wish of being killed if she turns into a vampire. Instead, he decides to join her. He would rather sacrifice his soul and become a monster, spreading misery and death and corruption, rather than ever harm her. Even if that goes against what she wants. He is the selfish side to their love, willing to harm anyone as long as he doesn't have to pay the cost of losing her.
Both of these feel opposed to one another... but the thing is, with these two I truly cannot be certain that they wouldn't swap decisions if they had swapped roles. If Jonathan were the one turning into a vampire, might Mina be willing to sacrifice everyone else? Quite possibly. I definitely think he'd be advocating to sacrifice himself in that situation, just as she is.
The broken promise to never hide anything from her again, the lack of trust that follows... those are just extensions of these decisions, they're the fallout. Mina and Jonathan are together so often now, but there is a wall between them. And that wall is built out of their love, each of them. They love the other one so much that it can drive them to anything. After Dracula's (third) attack on Mina, both she and Jonathan stop planning for the future, and begin preparing for their own personal worst-case scenarios.
Mina's greatest fear is harming Jonathan.
Jonathan's greatest fear is losing Mina.
She's willing to ensure he loses her forever to make sure her fear doesn't come true; he's willing to allow her to harm him irreparably in order to make sure his fear is never realized.
Mina's actions seem more selfless because in sparing Jonathan, she spares others as well. His seem more selfish because in protecting Mina, he might harm others. And maybe that's all it comes down to, the situation, because otherwise their motivation and even in large part their attitudes and the ways they react are the same.
.
Dracula/his influence has been the sole reason they were both pushed to these extremes, and if they are able to defeat him soon it may not be too late to return back to something closer to where they started. But if the situation gets pushed too much more, it will eventually break in one direction or another. And time is ticking away.
Edit - I tried to sum this up/clarify a little bit here. Basically, the motivation is usually selfish in a sense, even when that results in self-sacrifice. But the results are usually selfless/don't harm others. Later on when we see them stop communicating and working together as much, their decisions start hurting one another to a degree, and then this culminates in their individual decisions about what to do if Mina becomes a vampire, which regardless of the effect on everyone else, don't take the personal preferences of their partner into consideration.
.
.
A short little note on duty vs. desire, primarily focusing on Arthur and Jonathan, but dipping into Mina and Lucy as well.
Beginning with Arthur:
"I have a duty to do in protecting her grave from outrage; and, by God, I shall do it!"
+
"My true friend, from the bottom of my broken heart I thank you. Tell me what I am to do, and I shall not falter!"
Arthur felt a duty to Lucy's corpse and to her soul. He resisted Lucy's call (albeit not without help), and then asked Van Helsing to tell him what to do to save her soul. He already considered her as lost to him. All that was left now was to do right by her memory in whatever way he could. He forced himself through the terrible act of staking her, despite any horror or guilt or loss he might feel, because he knew it was his duty. He saw it through and then it was finished.
She is calling to me.
+
The first to act was Harker, who, with a quick movement, threw himself before the door leading into the room in the front of the house.
Starting with the first line - Jonathan's entry ends on this note. He answered. This line is both chilling and romantic in spades. Mina's call may very well be echoing Lucy's calls to Arthur in the graveyard here, but Jonathan has no one to pull him back. And if they tried he wouldn't let them, because his perspective is different.
Jonathan is driven by a desire to be with Mina at any cost. He wishes to save her human self, but even if she fully turns into a vampire he refuses to consider that a loss. He will chase after her. He is barely willing to wait to collaborate and isn't easily taking directions from anyone but Mina herself. He isn't waiting to throw himself into the action.
The difference isn't in how much they love their partners so much as it is in the way they express said love, and the situation they believe themselves to be in. For Arthur, everything was already done and all he had left was his duty. For Jonathan, nothing is even close to ending, and he wants to make sure it never does.
Similarly, Mina is actively going after what she wants, while Lucy plays a much more passive role and expresses real feelings of responsibility/guilt over choosing who to marry for example. Mina is a very responsible person who feels societal duty weigh on her but who is in the end always able to choose personal desires over it (nicely summed up by her concerns over holding Jonathan's arm in the park, and then deciding to keep on doing it). Lucy acts much more carefree, but it is in fact often an act brought on by her strong sense of duty to behave as the cheerful friend/good daughter/happy fiance/etc.
.
You could probably extend this into a longer meta on duty/desire in these two couples. Arthur is driven by duty so often (to his father, the responsibilities as well as freedoms his title holds, to Lucy's memory and Dracula's defeat) and his desires seem more exceptions despite how carefree he presents himself/how relatively easy of a life he has had so far. The same is true for Lucy. Jonathan is the opposite, with his goals (his career, Mina, defeating Dracula) being more related to personal desire even if there is overlap with duty there/circumstances have forced him to be more responsible in the past. The same is true with Mina. There's also places you can go with Art's freedoms vs. Jonathan's as relates to their class and the duties that go along with it (Arthur has obligations to his dad and can't be with Lucy, but he can just break in wherever and get away with it; Jonathan is trapped by social rules in Dracula's castle, but he can marry Mina immediately once the option is there). Again, same for Lucy and Mina. That's way off-topic for this meta though, and this is already much longer than planned, so I'm not going to go there.
The Brazil Ending and the sadness it brings with it
This is one of the 3 Ruin endings where after being attacked by Mimic we do not pay attention to Gregory's instructions. Cassie runs until she finds a cutout of Freddy or Fredbear (I still don't know exactly which of the two it is since the Fredbear design on the Fredbear's Family Dinner posters is very similar to this one but it could also be Freddy). There she can put the mask back on and see an idyllic landscape for her at that moment while she hyperbentilates and hears "Gregory's" voice.
But why do I consider this ending so sad? Well, because Cassie in this ending has stopped trusting when she sees that this being has imitated Gregory's voice. That's why she runs desperately without listening to Gregory's instructions since she thinks he is trying to trick her again. She flees and arrives where the cut-out is, something that makes her feel better, wishing with all her soul to be able to be somewhere other than that, achieving it by putting on her mask. She now sees a glitched fiction where she is happy with Gregory, Vanessa and Helpi while she tries to calm down and listens to Gregory. However, this time she does not distrust Gregory's voice and lets herself be carried away by the thought of being in that idyllic place.
Now how do we know that what she sees is false? There are several clues, the first being the name of the ending itself since it is a clear reference to an old movie called "Brazil" where the protagonist is kidnapped and is going to be tortured but at the last moment he is saved and ends in a happy ending. Well, this would be what one would think but the last scene of the film reveals that he has imagined everything about his rescue and that even though he is tortured he has decided to mentally escape from that reality to live a mental fiction. This makes a lot of sense if we transport it to Ruin where Cassie is so desperate to escape that situation that she escapes that reality by putting on the mask and seeing a much happier one.
Other things that show that it is false are: how glitched the image at the end looks, Cassie's hyperbentilation and the phrase from "Gregory" that we hear. This is a repetition of a phrase that Mimic told us in the past to trick us, being this: "Cassie, I'm ok. I found a sport to hide." This phrase makes very little sense in this situation and it is obvious that Mimic is fooling us again.
Why would Mimic try to trick us again? Mimic in the epilogues of Tales from the Pizzaplex tries to fool the young people once and so he tries it again even though they already discovered that one of his abilities is to imitate the voice. This makes it clear to us that Mimic tries to deceive its victims with the same tricks even though they have already been discovered. This would be why he says this phrase to make Cassie believe that everything is fine while he approaches her and kills her. Well, that is a possibility but the second is the one that most people believe and that is that with this ending it is implied that Cassie fell under his control.
This is quite supported by the fact that the image is glitched, wanting to tell us that wearing the mask for so long has made it possible for him to control us.
Another possible proof of this is the title change in Security Breach Files 2 (yes, I know this book is full of errors and I complained about this one but maybe this name change makes sense… Or maybe I'm trying to see it something good for a book with many errors… In any case I leave the information here). In this book there is a part that is only Ruin's and more specifically one at the end. Well, here the name of this ending is not "Brazil Ending" but "Safe Spot Ending", which agrees with the phrase that Mimic says at the end of this where he claims that he found a place to hide. This hiding place would be Cassie's mind because she has taken complete control of it.
The latest about Security Breach Files 2 is more of a theory and I would take it with a grain of salt because of what I have said before. However, I wanted to mention it since in the future when the errors in this book are corrected it may not change and it may have this meaning (although it could also be because Cassie finds a place to hide in the mask but it seems to me that it would be more in line with what was said by Mimic).
Lastly, mention two things. The first is that if Mimic tries to take over his mind in this ending, why wouldn't he do it in the elevator ending? I am in favor of saying that it was not Gregory who threw the elevator but it was Mimic and that with this what he did was make it seem that Gregory betrayed him in order to have her under his control and thus turn her into the "lying child" of one of the Candy Cadet story from Help Wanted 2.
The second goes more with the title of this post and that is that I feel that it must be horrible to trust someone completely and then discover that it was of no use. And now that she is in mortal danger and her friend tries to help her, she doesn't trust herself, not knowing if he is the real Gregory or if she is being deceived again. And on top of that, supposedly ending up being controlled by the thing that deceived her and made her lose trust in everything.
I know it's been a long time since Ruin left but I needed to talk about this ending. Now, this is my opinion and if there is something that you don't think the same, that's okay because all opinions are important.
CHAPTER 83: Achtung Attitude – Part 1
The wind blows over the Santa Monica Mountains. A young woman with a deep tan kneels at the edge of a certain precipice. Before here, standing firm, a middle-aged man in a dark suit prepares to attack. The distant skyline of Los Angeles illuminates them both.
Illuminated. Light. Shine. Bright. Radiate. Glow. Sparkle.
These words race through Shizuka’s head as she prepares her final move, drawing on the essence of light itself. But there is no more time. She’s already in All-Kill’s, in LONELY BOY’s range. But with LONELY BOY’s power diminished by her enemy’s lack of control, there would be no tremendous final strike, but rather, a slow, torturous end by countless light punches. In desperation, she forces a chuckle out of her throat through the blood that stains her teeth.
“You… You didn’t think… I would really just annoy you to death, did you?” she says, “I mean, I was hoping that might work, but I… I didn’t count on it…”
“You’re still talking,” All-Kill blithely remarks.
“I set… all this up! To bring you here…! To bring you right here. Wanna kn…!” she suddenly gasps, but endures the pain that struck her and desperately continues. “You wanna know why?”
LONELY BOY’s hand curls into a fist. “Why not? Whatever makes you happy, before you die.” The man in black wears a cruel smile.
Summoning all the courage she has, Shizuka stridently points outward, beyond the cliff’s edge and over the mountains, at the glittering LA skyline. “You see that, Mr. Seo? That… That thing you want so badly? The city you want to control? The City of Angels… Well…” She draws her finger back to point straight at All-Kill and declares, “That city… is going to help me kill you tonight!!”
“Hmm?” All-Kill replies. He doesn’t move as Shizuka’s Stand manifests from her being.
In that instant, dozens of impossible triangles form. All-Kill scrutinizes them as they begin to spin, quickly rotating fast enough to appear as pinwheels. From within them, blinding lights form. At last, Shizuka calls her Stand’s name…
“ACHTUNG BABY!!! ULTRA VIOLET OVERDRIVE!!!”
Like a special effects display at a music festival, compressed beams burst from the spinning triangles, searing the air and filling the place with the scent of ozone. Every last beam aims at All-Kill from every direction. As has happened many times in her adventure, Shizuka’s perception of time slows to a crawl. Slow enough to perceive the lasers converge on her enemy. Within a fraction of a second, they are six inches from his body…
“LONELY BOY.”
… then they stop dead. As soon as the lasers had fired, the Stand of the man in black was already in motion, sweeping the area around its master. With that alone, the beams are stopped in place, not one reaching their mark. The triangles continue to spin, as if attempting to push their respective beams further, but it’s no use. The lasers slam against nothing at all. An invisible, impenetrable fortress of nothing.
“So… Was this it?” All-Kill asks, gesturing to the frozen beams. “Was this your big plan? That first laser in the kitchen didn’t work, so you thought… ‘More should do the trick’?”
Shizuka gasps, releasing a held breath. Blood drips from her nose and ACHTUNG BABY vanishes. The impossible triangles fade with it, but the lights frozen by LONELY BOY remain. All-Kill slips past them and steps closer to stand directly over her.
“This is… just… disappointing,” he exclaims. “So… anticlimactic. Maybe it’s a good thing you refused to join me, if in the end, you turn out to be this pathetic.” Slowly, he reaches down and takes a handful of the young woman’s hair in his left hand and drags her off her knees. She groans, arms limp at her sides, the toes of her shoes scraping the ground.
“You thought you’d be the one to kill me?” All-Kill sneers, readying LONELY BOY with its fist raised at his side. “It wasn’t you that defeated my family, it was your friends and that treacherous mother of yours. You never achieved anything yourself. You were just lucky…!”
Suddenly, blood spills from his nose. It doesn’t burst out as though he’d been struck, but flows out, as if a dam in his nasal cavity had cracked. It pours over his lips and down his chin. In surprise, he releases Shizuka’s hair to dab at it and inspect his stained fingers.
“What… What the-?”
Something in his stomach churns and instinctively, he brings his hand to his mouth. But there is no stopping it. He wretches, his body twisting away from the cliff before the contents of his stomach come spewing out, soiling his hand and draining into the dirt. Then the pain makes itself known. He stumbles backwards, his eyes glazed and unfocused. His shaking legs collapse and he drops to one knee..
“M-My…! My head…!! It’s k-killing me…! What… What is this?!!” he groans, pinching his temple with his remaining hand. In his feverish, afflicted state, he hears a similar retching sound. Straining, he looks to see Shizuka enduring the same ordeal as him, hunched over and puking her guts up. “You…! What? What have you done? What did you do to me…?! There’s no way ACHTUNG BABY could do this…! All it can do is control light! It can’t…! It can’t do this…!!”
Shizuka rises to her knees shakily. She extends her hand and tries to click her fingers, but fails, her fingers not even strong enough to generate the right friction. “That’s… the really clever part… I couldn’t have done this without you…”
“What’s that…?!”
“Light is in constant motion. Even when it strikes a solid object… it just bounces away in other directions. ACHTUNG BABY doesn’t control light… All it does is manipulate the direction and the form it takes. It can’t stop it. Not outside of unnatural conditions. But you can. You can freeze molecules in place, even light itself… I knew that I couldn’t defeat you with any simple trick… the only way to stop you was to use your own power against you…!!”
“What are you talking about…?!!” All-Kill demands.
“All light…” Shizuka hoarsely says, “All photons carry trace amounts of… radiation…” At this, her enemy’s eyes go wide, his predicament suddenly becoming clear. She swallows and goes on. “Just standing outside on a sunny day for too long… that’s enough to give people melanomas and skin cancer… the light from the Sun travels millions of miles to get here, and its ultraviolet radiation is enough to do that… Do you understand now…? When you blocked my beams, all you did… was place yourself in a radiation field…! I told you, didn’t I?! Everything I did was to get you right here!!!”
All-Kill feels the sickness spread through his body. He groans, coughing up a gout of blood. Strands of hair fall from his scalp. When he rubs his head, his hand comes away with entire clumps of hair in his open palm. “But… But…” he stammers, watching Shizuka suffer in the same way, “Y-You’re killing yourself too… You’ll die along with me!”
The girl smirks. “Everybody else… They’ve made their sacrifices… All for my sake. It’s time I did my part.”
“Tsk!” is the only reply All-Kill can muster aloud, but his mind surges as he tries to figure out what to do now. But beneath his distressed strategizing, one train of thought rules. “Conviction… She’s resolved to die by her own hand, so long as she takes me with her… It’s her conviction that gives her strength… No! I won’t allow that! When this girl dies, she must feel regret! Regret for daring to cross me! I will erase that conviction!!!”
Finally, it came to him, as if popping out of a balloon. So obvious. “Radiation…” he murmurs. “You’re telling me… it’s the radiation in my body that’s killing me…?”
Shizuka doesn’t answer.
All-Kill raises his voice. “Well… Thanks for telling me what to look for… BLACK KEYS!!”
With that command, LONELY BOY opens its palm, BLACK KEYS slotting out. The Stand plunges the KEYS into its master’s side. With a simple turn, Shizuka watches as All-Kill shudders, then takes a deep breath as BLACK KEYS is pulled from his body. “Haaaaaa…” he sighs. “A well-thought out gambit, Shizuka Joestar… But it looks like I remain one step ahead.”
Shizuka’s pupils jitter as All-Kill rises once again to his feet. He poses triumphantly, clearly still suffering, but not in the way he should be.
“Just like you, I had to take a risk myself, but I was able to come out on top… I’ve successfully shut down the radiation in my body. Now it’s nothing but harmless molecules bouncing around my body.”
He steps toward her, standing firm with the pain dulled in his cracked legs. A horrible, desperate madness fills his face. “I could wait now… I could wait for you to succumb and bleed to death from your injuries. Or I could just let the radiation in your body tear you apart. But Shizuka… I’m through it. I’m through with all of this.”
His brief, agonizing trek ends upon reaching her. Once again, he stands over her with terrible menace. Under her breath, her head hanging down, Shizuka whispers, “Looks like… it’s time for my last move…”
“I’m through with you,” All-Kill concludes. LONELY BOY descends, aiming its terrible fist at Shizuka’s skull. A few seconds remain before the end of everything. “IT’S OVER… JOESTAR PRINCESS!!!!!!”
Not a second to waste.
Shizuka moves with blinding, impossible speed and reaches up from her knees to bring her hand before All-Kill’s face. She snaps her fingers.
LONELY BOY’s punch stops halfway. All-Kill grimaces, anticipating the new disturbing illusion to follow. With LONELY BOY on standby, he looks around in search of it, but finds nothing. “What did you do this time…?” he finally asks.
The young Joestar shifts her fingers before the gangster’s face and points to the sky above him. All-Kill looks straight up and sees… a single puffy cloud, like out of a cartoon. Having appeared from nowhere, it hovers above them. LONELY BOY follows its master’s gaze and fixates upon it. “What’s that…?” All-Kill mutters.
Shizuka chuckles weakly. “Hehehe… My trump card.” All-Kill’s face turns down slowly, his face twisted with utter irritation and disappointment. He sighs, “안녕 (Goodbye)... LONELY BOY!!!” Shizuka closes her eyes as LONELY BOY resumes its attack. Assured of his victory, All-Kill looks on with satisfaction.
Ginathon Episodes: Episode 233
After homophobic text messages, Lance knows he was the target of the bomb. He has no beef with Councillor Jerome Taylor who Adam suspected of planting the bomb when he was thought to be the target. Lance confronts Sheelagh Murphy's son, Connor, whose friends conducted a series of homophobic attacks for which Connor gave them a false alibi. Lance is aware that Connor has been struggling with his sexuality and has been counselling him because Sheelagh is of the opinion that being gay is wrong because of her Catholic religious beliefs. Whilst she's friendly with Lance, hearing her son is gay would be very difficult. Lance had recently changed his number and only certain colleagues, his boyfriend and his family have it. The only other person is Connor. Connor swears he didn't do it but Lance worries he passed his number to one of his friends.
He involves CID but doesn't mention Connor at first. Tony advises him to tell Jack but not Sheelagh. Lance is delayed in telling Jack as he receives a SO13 report at the same time. Sheelagh is furious when Lance tells her what he suspects. However the phone responsible for the texts is found in Connor's room.
Jerome Taylor visits the station to make a formal complaint about Adam accusing him of planting the bomb. You'd think given he sent hate mail to Adam he'd stay quiet and not want to fan the flames to stop people looking into things but I guess fire needs oxygen to burn!
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
Gina goes to speak to Jonathan to ask him if there's anything that Adam has to worry about. "You're really worried about the Super aren't you?" "If he's in trouble, yes." Jonathan chuckles as she moans about Adam accusing Jerome with a witness present. "It's you who finished it remember!" "Reluctantly! But at least we do have a better working relationship." "Oh absolutely. Professional to the absolute last." Jonathan tells her Jerome has a case for public defamation and aside from disciplinary action he could also make a civil case that would make Adam bankrupt. He suggests that Adam apologise or blame his medication for making him delirious.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
Adam refuses to apologise to Jerome after they've had a rather tempestuous relationship over the years. He's furious no one will take him seriously and Gina's words make him realise that she hasn't told Jonathan how she feels. She explains the job got in the way and he tells her to just tell him and not let the job be the scapegoat.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
Connor is found fighting with a colleague at work. It seems the colleague is the one who planted the bomb after taking his number from Connor to wind Lance up with homophobic text. Connor swears he never knew he had explosives. The colleague admits planting the bomb, spewing homophobic nonsense. Jonathan tells Gina she needs to MAKE Adam take notice and make that apology sooner rather than later before Jerome takes things further. She says he won't listen and takes Jonathan with her to try make him understand.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
At the hospital, Gina and Jonathan explain they've got the real suspect and he's admitted planting the bomb. They tell Adam to think about everything that he has achieved - does he really want to let his pride make him throw it all away? Gina urges him to protect his career, himself and his family and to talk to Jerome.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
With Gina and Jonathan present, Adam apologises and tells Jerome he's made a grave error. Jerome delights in telling Adam it's too late - he's already consulted his solicitor. As a public figure he has to protect his reputation and if it means destroying Adam then he's all too happy for it. He says he'll see him in court and walks out. Gina tries to comfort Adam but he tells her that if it does get that far - they both know his career is over.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
Gina and Jonathan eventually have to leave and Jonathan tells her he's glad Adam has her in his corner. "What, a nagging old battleaxe?" "No, someone who can make tough decisions for the right reasons." She pauses for a few seconds before telling him it's not true that her job means more to her than Jonathan. Jonathan is confused as he thought when she didn't argue it was exactly what she meant.
Gina: "You mean as much to me as my career and I don't want to lose you. Not for anything." Jonathan: "You mean you can make space for me in that extraordinarily hectic life of yours?" Gina smiles and nods before realising that she's supposed to be giving a talk at a Neighbourhood Watch meeting. Jonathan laughs before Gina just shakes her head. Gina: "Stuff it. I'll send someone else because I might have a hot date tonight...?" Jonathan: "You sound pretty confident..." Gina: "I know what I want. " Jonathan: "Well I hope so, because from what you just said that sounds like the basis for a verbal contract." Gina: "Come on, i've got a very good bottle of single malt at home. Let's negotiate."
In defence of Gabriel's “redemption”
It is no news that we people in the Miraculous-fandom tend to disagree on things or even interpret certain parts differently from each other. That's part of the fun of being in a fandom.
Yet, with the s5 finale having aired, it appears like the majority seems to be on the fence on the ending to Gabriel Agreste´s arc. He, the main villain, got away with his evil doing without consequences
Did he thought? Or was the “redemption” we witnessed well earned?
The old saying says “The road to Hell is pawed with good intentions” and that does more or less apply well to everything Gabriel did throughout these 5 seasons. All he wished for is having his beloved wife back alive so they could be a family again with their wonderful son who was born a miracle after many years of sadness. To achieve that he took up a supervillain persona, began to exploit people's negative emotions for his own gain and became a feared terrorist with no mercy. To say his reasoning behind becoming a danger to anyone opposing him simply because he wished to avoid the feeling of grief was not-at-all-reasonable would be the understatement of the century.
So, why would I defend him, after he constantly attacked the innocent all while ignoring his own 14y old son who was going through grief as well?
I don't defend his actions, I defend the resolution to his actions.
Tumblr media
Throughout the show we are constantly remaindet of how terrible the consequences of The One Wish would be- you wish for something and something else has to be taken away, you change reality and reality collapses. If Gabriel made the wish to bring Emilie back to life someone else must die in her stead and we know it wouldn’t be him or they wouldn’t be a family again. Further, we know that the use of multiple Miraculous at the same time can lead to the loss of sanity of a weak mind, hence Gabriel’s growing madness in season 5. With all that on him one would assume that when he made his wish he wouldn’t take a minute of consideration before dooming all of humanity. But he doesn’t.
We know how much he loves Emilie but it becomes clear that he never watched the recorded message she left him, and so, when Ladybug shows him a similar message made for Nathalie, he finally breaks down. After months of silence he hears his wife’s voice, sees her alive, understands her wish. She willingly risked her life for a family, for the opportunity of sharing love, and willingly sacrificed herself so that her great love (Gabriel) and her beloved son (Adrien) could still have a future together. It doesn’t matter that both Adrien and Nathalie would comfort him that Emilie wished him to be happy even after she was gone, it had to come from her for him to understand it. Ladybug showed him the video and thus he was forced to be confronted with how far his madness had led him. Ladybug won.
Ladybug didn’t manage to stop him from making a wish, but Ladybug won by changing the outcome of his wish.
Tumblr media
He understood now that Emilie went on her own terms, understood that Adrian’s happiness and well being is all she would wish for, that Nathalie was on the wedge of death because of his blindness, he understood that bringing Emelie back would fix nothing.
If he had made his wish like first intended and now with both him and Nathalie dying, three people would have been needed to be sacrificed instead. The universe demands balance.
So instead he sacrificed himself to heal Nathalie, at peace knowing that Adrien would be well off in her hands, and with it all released Adrien out of the emotional prison he had build up for him.
There is a reason why I put “redemption” in quotation marks, because the show didn't decide to make Gabriel suddenly into a hero and martyr (and the “perfect” image of him that Adrien and the people of Paris were left with will certainly be addressed in s6), all it did was make him face the ugly consequences of his actions so far and act upon it with the bit of goodness he had in him. And it has all been laid out there since season 1.
This is not me telling you what a great guy he was all along, this is just pointing out that the writers knew what they were doing.
Chapter 9 - Stay
A few hours later, Yoongi was in front of his parents and older brother, who welcomed him with a warm hug. Meanwhile, his mother had been so moved to see her son again that she shed several tears.
“She doesn't look well…” Yoongi thought worriedly as the woman clutched him. He immediately looked at his brother, who nodded, understanding his concern, but that was not the time to talk about it.
His mother was so tired and her back was in so much pain that she quickly sat back down, and Yoongi was dismayed at how much it took her to find a position that didn't hurt. Instinctively, he looked at his father to make sure he was okay. Although he found the old man healthy enough, Yoongi did not see many traces of joy on his face; on the contrary, he perceived his father cold and even annoyed.
"Shit..." he thought with a sigh. "It's going to be a long night."
Fortunately for Yoongi, it was too late, his family had already had dinner and his parents needed to rest. Geumjae, on the other hand, didn't let him do anything when he already convinced the musician to go have a drink together at a small canteen near home.
“I still can't believe you're here! Why didn't you call earlier? I'd have gone to the station for you. Do you always have to be so mysterious about everything?”
Yoongi couldn't help but laugh at that comment, being mysterious was the last thing on his mind.
"I didn't want to bother you."
"You never do, remember you're my baby brother." Geumjae tried to tease him by pinching his cheeks, but Yoongi was faster and managed to dodge.
“Hyung, I told you many times that it wouldn't be a good idea to come. Dad looked awkward."
“Dad ALWAYS looks awkward. Don't take it personally. Besides, you came here to see mom."
"About that... I didn't see her well. It hurts her to walk, even to sit. She has lost weight. And not only her, dad's thinner."
“He's worried about her, although you know him, he doesn't talk too much. Besides…" Geumjae stopped talking, but his nervous gaze gave him away.
"Come on, say it. I already know what you're thinking. That I could call more, come more often. Despite having left home, I still worry them.”
“You're their youngest son, Yoongi, they know practically nothing about you.”
“It's better that way, my life choices are far from our parents' like, they hate music. Do you think that calling them every day and reminding them that I'm still chasing the same dream will do them any good?”
“Disappearing doesn't do them any good either. And not just them, you can't deny that this affects you."
Of course it affected him, and not just because of the nostalgia of thinking about home. He was terribly worried about letting them down and never being able to give them the life he thought they deserved. His pride also spoke, Yoongi couldn't just give up and return home defeated. The path had been brutally steep and full of obstacles, only once had he come close to fulfilling his dreams, but he lost everything. The work of years, song lyrics, and melodies to which he had dedicated sleepless nights had been taken away by people he blindly trusted. But that didn't matter, he had to prove to himself that he could achieve his dream. He also had to show his parents that he was not wrong with his decisions.
"Yoongi, what about the other thing? Are you feeling any better? You know what I mean."
Geumjae had witnessed a couple of anxiety attacks from his younger brother. Although Yoongi cleverly hid them from his parents, he hadn't had such luck with his brother. Naturally, knowing how serious they could be and the depression they brought, Geumjae worried about him. To make everything worse, Yoongi hardly talked about it or accepted help from anyone, so there was no way to offer him a hand.
“There are good days and others not so much.”
"You know that if you need to talk, I'm here, right?"
"I know it, hyung, but you don't have to worry, I'm fine."
"I'm glad to hear that."
"Regarding mom, I think I'll have the money for her operation very soon.”
“Yoongi, you don't have to do everything alone. When are you gonna understand it? I also work, I…”
"You took care of the first therapy sessions, in addition to all the medical appointments, leave the operation to me."
“You did see how much that operation costs, right? We need to ask for a loan. You CAN'T pay it yourself.”
"I have savings, I'll sell the motorcycle, I don't know, something will come to mind. I'm just finishing with several songs a band asked me to produce, that will help."
Yoongi's orderly nature had allowed him to take on numerous responsibilities from a very young age; however, he could not deny that as the years passed, everything was more complicated. His parents' allowance was minimal, plus they had mortgaged the house, and with the money they had left, they could barely buy food. That was how Geumjae and Yoongi split everything up without their parents knowing. The musician had forced his older brother to swear he would tell them that his job allowed him to help them. However, while Geumjae paid the mortgage, Yoongi took care of the couple's rent, as well as the rest of the bills. Fortunately, the money the janitor gave him covered several months of his parents' rent, but he still had to pay half the rent for his apartment and all the expenses of living alone.
It was still very awkward for him to accept the money from Emmy's classes, in fact, he hadn't wanted to touch any of it, he told himself that it was the savings for his mother's operation, and that made him feel a little less uncomfortable, if that was possible.
"Okay, let's change that face. Let's stop talking about money, you know I hate that topic. I guess you have a lot to tell me, I can't remember the last time we drank a beer together. How are Jin and Namjoon doing? Is there something new in your many jobs? How are you doing in college?”
“Well, honestly, I don't have much to tell you. Jin and Namjoon are fine, work's still the same…everything's the same.”
Everything's the same? Please.... he had agreed to tutor someone, he had gone out to a party, and he had danced! In the last few weeks, he had laughed more than he had ever laughed in his entire life. He had gone back to carving, and a few hours ago, he had kissed the girl who made him lose his mind. Definitely, nothing was like before, but he was too introverted and reserved to say it like that.
However, something in Yoongi's tone, perhaps the fact that he didn't sound as melancholy as usual, made Geumjae raise both eyebrows. Turning to his brother, he stood idly by, waiting for him to talk some more. He knew how to convince the musician to open up a little more, and even though it was especially difficult, he managed to get it. That night was no exception, as Yoongi let out a small, telltale smile.
"You know that I can stay here all night waiting for you to talk."
“Hyung, you're truly annoying.” He said with a sigh. "I met someone." Yoongi confessed without taking his gaze from the beer. "And, well... you know, I think she kind of likes me too." The more he spoke, his voice dropped in pitch, becoming barely perceptible to Geumjae. It was obvious that Yoongi was head over heels for her.
“Oh wow! That's not what I expected!" Geumjae commented getting excited, especially because he got to see Yoongi's ears turning red. "And well? Who is she, what's her name, how did you meet her? Is it something serious? When do you want me to come so you can introduce her to me?”
Geumjae's intensity made Yoongi laugh and think he was as intense as Jin. “Don't go so fast, not even Emmy and I have talked about it. I just told you that I MET someone.”
"Emmy? That's a cute name! Do you have a picture? I want to see your girlfriend."
"I already told you she's not my…"
"How long have you been dating her?"
Resigned to his brother wanting all kinds of details, Yoongi preferred to change the subject before it got worse. Of course, he didn't make it, and Geumjae insisted all night to find out more about Emm. Deep down, Yoongi was grateful that they could talk about something else, the whole issue of his parents and the money made him very tense. He had to enjoy the peace of that night, for he knew that the next day, things would not be so simple with his parents. His father would not miss an opportunity to ask about his work.
************
The next day, Emmy woke up, and for the first time in her life, she did not wish for Christmas Eve to end soon. The girl bathed early, got ready, and left the house. She wanted to prepare something to eat, not buy something already prepared. Yet, when she saw herself in the supermarket, she realized that it was the first time she had done something like that. The girl didn't even know how to look for things or what the hell she was looking for.
If she hadn't been so clueless, she would have called Hoseok to help her, or Nara, but she forgot her cell phone at home. Fortunately, her outgoing personality allowed her to approach a woman and ask for her help. Minutes later, she was leaving with numerous bags,
"Time to start..." She thought when she managed to get home and leave all the bags in the kitchen.
************
On the other hand, the atmosphere at Yoongi's house had gotten too edgy since breakfast, his father wasted no time in starting with his hostile comments. As long as he didn't give his mother a hard time, Yoongi remained silent, but as the day continued, it was impossible for him not to answer back. At first, he tried to do it in the most respectful way; however, his father's words were escalating too fast. The worst came when Yoongi was trying to help his mother with lunch.
“Mom, please go rest. I'll continue with the rest."
"Forget about it, you never come home, let me spoil you a bit and make your favorite food.”
"Let him cook, even let him work on that if he wants, anything's better than what he does." Yoongi's father commented loud enough for not only his wife and youngest son to hear, but also Geumjae and his girlfriend, who had come to visit.
"Let me do it," Yoongi asked barely audible to his mother, but his jaw was tense enough to express how furious he was.
"I already told you no."
When the woman tried to continue cooking, she made a movement that turned out to be a bit abrupt for her, and Yoongi clearly saw the grimace on her face.
"Mom... please."
"It's okay, it was nothing."
"You need to rest, you can't push yourself that much."
"Why not?"
Yoongi was not supposed to know anything about the therapies, much less about the operation, but it was so notorious that Geumjae told him, that it wasn't his father who got upset, but his mother. She was aware of how difficult her youngest son's life was, so she got extremely upset with Geumjae to add extra weight. Yet, Yoongi's mother's personality was as calm and kind as her son's, so it was no surprise that they were capable to handle the situation well and avoid an argument. Meanwhile, the old man did not stop and continued with the conversation related to Yoongi's life decisions.
“I'm telling you this because I'm worried you won't have a future, just like me! You think my word doesn't matter because I'm an old man with no education."
“Dad, that's not what it's about, I've never thought like that. I just want to give myself a chance and…”
"A chance? You have years chasing something that will NOT happen! Better go back home and take charge of the workshop, or study something else.”
“I'm not going to study anything else, and I'm NOT going back home.”
"Were you so unhappy here?"
"Dad, please. Today's not the day, it's the first time Yoongi has come in a long time.” Geumjae added, trying to calm things down a bit.
“Stop giving him hope where the's none, Geumjae! Don't you realize that he'll be a failure all his life? Someone has to make him see reason!"
"I won't be a failure, I've told you countless times. I know I can do it, I know I have what it takes."
“You're wasting your life. If you're going to continue with that stupid mentality, don't come home. You embarrass me."
"Dad!" Geumjae said. “How do you tell him that when it's Yoongi who..?”
"Don't, hyung," Yoongi ordered getting up from the chair.
“Your mother has always been silent and your brother continues to support you with ideas that do NOT make sense! Someone has to tell you to stop this foolishness."
“Yoongi knows what he's doing with his life, he has told you in many ways. He has been more than respectful, dad, but you also have to know how things are.”
"Geumjae." Yoongi warned with a gloomy look, not only did he feel how everything was escalating more and more, but his anxiety was already starting to appear, and all he wanted was to get out of there and never talk about it again. "I told you that it was enough."
“Yoongi's mature and responsible enough to have taken over the rent for this house, as well as the other bills.”
Geumjae was finishing saying that when Yoongi closed his eyes holding the doorknob. He had been so close to being able to leave before everything got worse...
************
The hours passed quickly and soon it was ten o'clock at night. Emmy was struggling with her oven, having been trying to figure out how to preheat it without causing another accident, when suddenly there was a knock on her door. Next, she heard how it opened slowly and when she turned her head, she could see Yoongi on the edge of the door. He had a few bags, in addition to the suitcase that she had seen before.
The musician's gaze slightly brightened up the moment he saw the girl's smile; however, there was still a trace of the consequences of the visit home. That was how Emmy ran towards him and opening the door even more, she hugged him tightly.
"I hope you don't mind that I took you at your word to come." He whispered in her ear and smiling gratefully to feel the warmth of Emmy's hug.
"The door was open for you." Emmy's response was accompanied by a caress on Yoongi's cheek.
"Can we close it now?"
"I promise you no one else will enter." She assured kissing his forehead and helping him with everything he brought.
Yoongi did no more than enter when the scene he saw moved him so much that it made him smile tenderly. Emmy had been waiting for him, so she had set the table for the two of them. Also, just by glancing around the kitchen, he knew that she had tried to cook, but hadn't succeeded, hence the chaos.
"Emm, did you get burned?" He asked sure of it due to the smell of burnt food.
"No, but I'm afraid to keep trying. I burned more than half of the things I bought." The girl laughed at how unskilled she was in the kitchen.
"Don't worry, we'll do it together."
That would be Emmy's first Christmas dinner in years, so she didn't stop smiling for a single moment. The illusion and emotion caused by having the musician there with her made Yoongi have to save her from more than one accident. If it wasn't with the knives, it was again the oven or even the kitchen. Even so, he didn't stop smiling either, besides that, his heart didn't give him a truce and kept beating fast.
Fortunately, Yoongi had brought ingredients; actually, he was able to replace everything Emmy burned. The first thing they did was to wash the vegetables, but when they were about to chop them, Yoongi immediately came up behind her to explain how to do it without losing a finger in the process.
“Keep a good grip on the knife and move your other hand away.” With the directions of Yoongi, Emmy could do everything without any difficulty. “Great, we're almost done. Can you chop the carrots while I finish preparing the meat?”
“Carrots? No, they're disgusting, I don't like them. Let's use more chives."
“We need the carrots. By the way, be careful because we haven't picked up those glasses from the ground yet. I'll finish with this and pick them up. DO NOT go near here. Emm, are you listening to me?" The girl had already set the carrots aside while she searched for more chives. “No more chives, it won't taste good.”
“Of course it will taste good! You want to put boring vegetables on it.”
“And what are the fun vegetables supposed to be? Because I can't remember the last time a potato told me a joke." Yoongi spoke with a frown and crossed arms. And his tone became even more serious when, according to him, he was explaining to Emmy all the properties carrots had and why it was important to eat them.
"You're an old man, old men like carrots."
"What? Are you listening to yourself? Nothing you say makes any sense. If you ate healthier, you would understand.” He said taking a bag of carrots and putting them in front of the girl.
"I'm sorry, grandpa, I can't chop your delicious carrots because I can't find the knife."
"I'm not a…forget it." He tried to find the knife they had been using among Emmy's mess. “Did you really lose it again? But I don't understand, a minute ago you had it in your hands."
Yoongi and Emmy lifted everything in the kitchen to find the knife; however, it seemed that it had disappeared. Emmy kept saying that Yoongi had moved it, while he said that she had hidden it so as not to chop the carrots, no one had noticed that it was under the chopping board.
"Maybe it's around here." She tried to lift a pot heavy enough that Yoongi had to help her. The couple tried to push some things away; however, the only thing they got was that the carrots ended up falling on the glass.
“You did it on purpose, right? All because of your senseless hatred of carrots."
"You did it on purpose, right?" She imitated Yoongi talking like an old man and when Yoongi realized that he actually sounded like that, he let out a laugh that rang throughout the kitchen.
Also, it was the first time he had seen Emmy slightly upset and Yoongi had no idea that she could fight like a little girl, she even gently pushed him to pick up the mess of carrots and glass, but she kept repeating that it had been an accident.
"And you know what I'm gonna do? Next Christmas I'm going to give you boxes and boxes of carrots. That's what you earned for being a bitter old man and a liar."
By way of apology, Yoongi crouched down on the same level as Emmy and trying to suppress a smile, offered her a chive. Soon, they were both laughing at how ridiculous the argument had been.
Stopping her from picking up the glass, Yoongi carefully lifted Emmy up.
"I told you I wouldn't be much help in the kitchen."
"What are you talking about? They were just some stupid carrots.” He responded with his raspy voice and a smirk on his face capable of making Emmy even forget what they were talking about.
A split second was all the couple needed before they lost themselves in a kiss. Knowing that no one would interrupt them that night, and that they had truly closed the door to be totally alone, both Yoongi and Emmy decided that they would enjoy every kiss, caress, and smile with every particle of their being.
Ever since he left Emmy's house, Yoongi had daydreamed about kissing her again. Even before kissing her, the girl occupied most of his thoughts, but having tasted her lips had been like giving him just a hint of what awaited him at her side. Now, holding her in his arms and feeling how the girl responded to each caress, Yoongi kissed her with even more passion than the first time.
Even though Yoongi was not good with words, and at first sight he would have given all the signs that physical affection was not his favorite thing, to Emmy's surprise, the musician knew how to express himself perfectly well through kisses and caresses. Everything that involved making love was Yoongi's thing and Emm was about to find out that night.
Among the surprises that the musician hid was his arms' strength.
Just as the simplest thing for him, Yoongi took the girl by the legs and sit her at the table. Next, he directly attacked Emm's neck, he was devouring it with kisses that forced her to hold onto his shoulders as she moaned. If she wasn't moaning, she was sexily giggling at the tickling of Yoongi's tongue on her neck. Meanwhile, the musician's hands were trembling, desire had taken over him and he was dying to take Emmy's clothes off, but he had to go calmly, not for him, but for her.
Emmy noticed the fire coming from Yoongi's hands on her thighs, waiting for the slightest signal from her to continue, and the signal came when the girl caught him off guard and bit his lower lip. The next thing Emmy felt was the pianist's hands traveling under her shirt, caressing her abs, and catching her breasts in his hands. Soon, Emmy's shirt and bra had already disappeared, allowing the musician to drive her crazy and make her want him to continue. With perfectly measured force and pressure, Yoongi was feasting on the girl's breasts, biting and licking them.
“Yoongi…” she called before licking and gently biting his earlobe.
"Do you want us to stop?" He asked with a tone of voice that led the girl to bite her lip, she had never heard him speak more seriously and raspy than at that moment.
"Of course not." She responded making him smile and approach her neck again. "So what's wrong, you don't like it?"
"I love it, but I want you to come with me."
Getting off the table, Emm took Yoongi's hand and made him follow her. The musician was madly bewitched by her, so much so that he could have sworn that those steps between the kitchen, the stairs, and Emmy's room were torture for him. However, seeing the comfort of Emm's room, especially her bed, Yoongi understood why they were there. That night neither of them wanted to keep anything to themselves, and they would only do that by being as comfortable as possible.
The connection that Emmy and Yoongi had from the beginning in front of the piano was surpassed by the one they had that night in bed. They were both aware of how much they wanted to touch, taste, and even take over every inch of the other's body, but they would have all night for that, and at that moment, what they both wanted most was something else. Thus, without thinking of anything else at all, they took it upon themselves to disappear all the clothes, and as soon as Yoongi cornered Emmy on the bed, he gave her a stare she would never forget. If the girl had thought that Yoongi had devoured her with his gaze when they danced, that night he showed her that it had been nothing, because his feline eyes and the way he took his crotch by getting closer to her were simply unforgettable.
Arching her back, Emmy moaned as she felt how every centimeter of the musician's body enter on hers. Those first few seconds of feeling Yoongi inside her were enough to turn Emmy's world upside down. It was as if all her previous sexual encounters did not happen, as if she was starting her sex life all over again, but this time with him, with the correct person. The combination of how well the musician moved, how wonderful their bodies felt together, how exquisite it felt to have Yoongi so close, and how hopelessly in love she was led to Emmy having the best night of her life.
The musician turned out to be an incredibly passionate lover, not snapping at things or seeming to lose control awkwardly; on the contrary, each movement of Yoongi's hips, each kiss, even each moan, and glance were calculated to be unforgettable and to mark Emm's life. He didn't limit himself to one position, he had too much to prove to the girl, too much love and desire.
As he turned her back to him and positioned himself on top of her, Yoongi grabbed her hands on top of her head and smirked hearing his name coming out of her lips. With every hip thrust while he went in and out of her, Yoongi not only groaned in her ear, but also let her know that from that night on, she would be in his arms forever. Yoongi was no joking when he said he was not willing to share her; therefore, just a single thought of another person in her bed made Yoongi burn inside.
They both knew that they couldn't keep up that pace for much longer, the pleasure was too much to handle, and they were getting closer to experiencing the best orgasm of their lives.
"Turn around, baby, I want to see your face," Yoongi ordered biting her earlobe and carefully pulling out his body from her.
HE, the person who avoided eye contact the most, dreamed of being able to see the face of the girl he had fallen in love with when they had their first orgasm together. The intensity of the feelings they experienced that night as they reached their limit together and looked into each other's eyes would be unmatched by any other event in their lives. Emmy and Yoongi gave absolutely everything of themselves that night, it was not even necessary for them to speak, for the smile they gave each other when they were out of breath made it clear that they were not playing, what they had was not something casual or superficial.
Exhausted, they lay in the comfort of the pillows. Both tried to recover the normality of their breathing, but without moving away. Making any effort other than breathing was exhausting for the couple, but Yoongi managed it, and spoke in her ear.
"Emm, are you alright? It's the first time you've been silent for so long." Yoongi's question caused her to laugh very softly and raise her face so she could look at him.
"You just left me without any words." The musician gave her that adorable smile that she liked so much and almost immediately she snuggled back into his arms.
They didn't say anything for a while, just rested. The comfort felt in each other's arms was so satisfying that they were about to fall asleep, especially Emmy. Yoongi's chest turned out to be THAT place anyone wanted to rest on; it was warm and welcoming, but also firm and safe. Also, feeling the musician's fingers caressing the soft skin of Emmy's arms and shoulders was lulling. Surely the girl could have stayed there forever, and so could he, but there was something he still had to do.
"No..." the girl complained when she felt him move stealthily. "Yoongs, don't go." She begged.
"I won't leave." He assured approaching with a smile to kiss her lips. "I'll just go get something, stay resting."
He knew that if he gave her time to say something else, Emmy would convince him to stay, so he took just what he needed of clothing and left the room. A few minutes passed in which the girl remained hugging the pillow that Yoongi had been using; however, she wanted him back and ended up covering herself with the sheet to go looking for him. However, Emmy hadn't even finished adjusting the sheet when he came back in, this time with a tray with two glasses and two small plates.
“Where were you going, freckles? I told you to stay in bed."
"What…?"
"Just in time." He sat in front of her and offered the glass. Emmy hadn't realized that among all the things Yoongi brought, he had bought something to toast. "Merry Christmas, precious." He said at the same time that the clock began to chime, it was already midnight.
They both toasted with their glasses, but not even the fine material they were made of shone like the eyes of the couple. So, that was how it felt to spend Christmas with someone special... that was the thought of Yoongi and Emmy before kissing one last time and having dinner in bed.
"You didn't use carrots," the girl commented unable to avoid laughing as she saw what Yoongi prepared.
“As long as you like the food, I'll like it too. I didn't cook for myself, after all, this Christmas was for you." He responded by winking at her.
"Also for you." She replied passing her hand through the musician's dark hair. "I was thinking a lot about you, I wanted everything to work with your parents, but I also wanted you to come."
"Is that why you went to buy so many things?" Yoongi raised his gaze and fixing it on her, he observed how the freckles on Emmy's cheeks became more noticeable due to the reddish tone that her face had acquired. A few moments of silence followed in which Emmy was aware that Yoongi was struggling with himself and his lousy ability to express himself. Finally, he found the words to say what he was thinking, or at least the words that were closest to what he wanted to express. "Regardless of whether it had worked or not, it'd have come back to you, I knew you were waiting for me. This is the first time someone prepares something like this for me. No one had welcomed me like this.” Not wanting to overwhelm him with words, Emmy gave him a peck on the cheek. She understood how touched and happy he felt, there was no need for Yoongi to say anything else. "Let's eat, freckles. I hope you enjoy your carrot-free dinner."
That Christmas was the complete opposite of what they had imagined. While the girl had visualized herself eating instant soup and then looking for a party, Yoongi had resigned himself to an awkward night with his family. However, fate taught them a lesson that night about how everything could change at the most unexpected moment. Contrary to what they had anticipated, they were now enjoying a small dinner in Emmy's bed, both still half-naked and disheveled. On Emmy's neck and clavicle several of the marks that Yoongi had left on her stood out, and on his back, there were traces of Emmy's nails, from when she held on to him. But in addition to the sensuality of the scene, love filled the room, it was something undeniable.
"Yoongs, do you want to talk about what happened at your parents' house?"
Yoongi's first impulse led him to shake his head negatively; however, after a few minutes of silence, he spoke. In truth, opening up to Emmy wasn't that difficult.
“Mom's in a lot of pain, she's not having a good time. About dad…” A deep sigh interrupted his words. “He still hates music. And my brother, well, he spoke more than necessary, not with bad intentions, Geumjae would never do something like that. Anyway, I think I left home worse than the first time. Dad's so sure about my imminent failure, that sometimes he gets to make me doubt."
Emmy watched as her piano professor finished drinking what was left in his glass before fixing his dark eyes on it. Maybe, if she hadn't done what she did, Yoongi would have lost himself thinking about everything that was happening at home; but that didn't happen, since Emmy took the glass out of his hands so she could grab them.
“You're a fabulous musician. I know that things haven't been easy for you, but everything will be fine. You can get anything you set your mind to, maybe you just need to change your strategy and stop being so self-sufficient." Yoongi listened carefully as his girl played with his hands. "If you weren't such a grumpy cat, you'd notice that there are people who truly care about you and are willing to lend you a hand. Just let us do it, Yoongs. Don't give up yet, I won't let you do it and you should know me well enough by now to know how headstrong I can be." Even though he was serious, Yoongi showed her his gummy smile. “Whenever you want to talk about what's going on with your mom, I'll be here, there has to be something we can do to help her. I know very good doctors, maybe we could ask them for a second opinion. And regarding your brother... I don't blame him, I've also screwed up many things by speaking without thinking. You should know that by now too…”
Yoongi looked at his girl in a way that Emmy could swear he was capable of reading her soul. He knew that she meant everything, the help she offered was honest, but, on top of that, just the fact that she took the time to listen to him caused Yoongi's chest to feel warm.
"I like you, Emm, I like you a lot." He confessed with a sweet smile and delicately running his thumb over her cheeks' freckles. "But you should know that by now."
"Hmm... no, not really." She joked provoking Yoongi's eyes to widen, thinking that maybe he hadn't shown it enough while they were making love. “You could prove it again…”
With a smirk on his face, Yoongi put aside everything that could get in the way and dedicated all night to showing Emm how much he liked her.
Luckily, the next morning he didn't have to work, as both Yoongi and Emmy only slept for a couple of hours. Yoongi could be very calm in his day to day, and the truth was that when he slept with other girls, he didn't remember having a night like that; however, having sex with the girl he truthfully liked was a different thing.
Not long before exhaustion finally overcame them, Emmy opened her eyes when she felt the musician wrapping her up with the blanket.
"You'll leave once I fall asleep, right?"
"Do you want me to do it?" In response, the girl shook her head, she genuinely didn't want to see him go.
She was dying to ask him not to leave, but if there was one thing that terrified Emmy, it was asking for that. She had stopped doing it from a very young age, after so many abandonments, the girl simply trembled just thinking about asking someone to stay by her side again and having to see that person leave. However, the sweet look that Yoongi dedicated her, accompanied by a smile, made it clear that he was willing to stay for as long as she allowed him.
“Freckles…” he called, tucking a few strands of hair behind her ear. “We already said that we had closed the door, don't you remember? I have no intention of opening it.”
Grateful that Yoongi understood one of her biggest fears, Emm pulled him back to her side and snuggled into him.
"Thank you." She thought feeling the last kiss the musician gave her on the forehead before falling asleep.
