Yesterday we did Secret Santa at the book club. We drew names and had to choose a book from our library that we thought the other person would like.

In my case they got it absolutely right! A Russian black comedy that deliberates on the nature of humour while satirising social hypocrisy and the triumph of the individual through self-centred characters who bring out the worst in themselves.

The book looks very interesting and brilliant. A nice combination of comedy and horror with a kind of satiric dark humour and explosive style that I love. I am grateful for the gift and the choice.

hieeeeeee. so, yesterday i didn't post. i was really tired after spending all day at the pool and hanging with my friends. we made tuna sandwich and ice tea. we bought kachitos and played secret santa of a maximum of 1$. i gave my friend alex a condom (he really needed it). my friend reki gave me a pack of gomitas trululu and 3 handmade photocards of hobie, jin and tae from bts. <3.

we had a lot of fun and nice talk.

i'm really happy and grateful for having all these good friends. also, my friend denisse slept at my place.

i think that's a good.

hey there @endymionstudies, i’m your studyblr secret santa! it’s been an absolute pleasure getting to know you over this past month, so i made a little moodboard with all of the things you’ve told me! i’ve left my explanations for the pictures/photo credits under the cut, but for now i hope you have the best time at home, merry christmas to you/your family and friends, and happy 2020! <3

1. so they’re super excited to see their family over the holidays (especially their dad), and i found these cute stockings (x) 2. they weren’t sure of their favourite quote, but they loved this one and i agree! it’s so inspiring! i also managed to have the background in a similar colour to their blog background (x) 3. their favourite festive drink was (peppermint) hot chocolate and this one looks amazing! (x) 4. they love the grinch film, and i haven’t seen it but it looks like so much fun! (x) 5. this was their study space a while back and it was so nice! i wish i had a proper study space! (x) 6. and finally, i asked them what they were thankful for, and they said their friends! i thought this was a really sweet picture (x)

!! i actually just cleaned up my desk bc im leaving campus for break tonight so it doesn’t look how it used to, but i think i have a photo somewhere of what it used to look like.

okay this is what it USED  to look like at the beginning of the year, but the i rearranged some things and added a calendar. i just cleaned up and took a bunch of stuff away to bring home, so its much nicer rn:

confession: i literally never study here. i usually study in the library with friends if i ever study at all. im so bad about studying i usually just wing it ngl :/

my favorite piece of stationary is easily my pen collection. i couldnt choose just one, i love them all equally. i have muji, sarasa, stabilo fineliners, frixon pastel highlighters, zebra liquid highlighters, and faber-castell highlighter pencils.

okay so this is my secret santa gift for @starduststudies,,, it’s supposed to be a study playlist technically but ik that a lot of people like to listen to music without lyrics when they’re studying to focus better so honestly you can listen to this whenever you want. my music taste is fairly top 40s but i did try and make this a bit more alternative bc that’s usually the type of stuff i listen to while i’m studying

Hi Hannah! I'm your secret studyblr Santa. I'm excited to do this and get to know you. I'm probably gonna be asking a bunch of questions as I try to come up with what I want to make you, so I hope you don't mind lol. I have two for now. 1) What's your favorite thing about winter/holiday season? 2) What kind of music do you like, especially for studying (if you listen while studying)?

Here are my answers: 

1. I absolutely love skiing. It’s one of my favorite activities cause I feel free and don’t have to think about anything (and I love getting mint hot cocoa after a long day in the cold). Also I love Chanukah and the sufganiyot (Jewish jelly donuts) that come with it

2. While studying I tend to listen to this playlist (or just any lo-fi music tbh). Alternatively I love listening to movie soundtracks because they’re repetitive enough to get lost in, but not so repetitive that you get bored after like 2 songs. My personal favorite is the Pan’s Labyrinth soundtrack. Other than studying, I listen to showtunes, Queen, Russian music, pop in general, Elton John, Troye, and like,,, too much of everything basically :)

What is a Secret Santa?

A Secret Santa is a gift exchange, but when done on tumblr the gifts are anonymous asks sent to your person throughout the month of December, and then on the 25 you reveal yourself to them.

Who can join?

Anyone who has a studyblr (even if it’s a side blog) and is willing to turn anon off for the month of December!

How do I join?

Reblog this post (likes are for bookmarks only, you must reblog it. I really want this to get out to as many people as possible)

Fill out this form by November 28 at midnight est

What do I do?

Beginning on December 1, send anonymous messages to your assigned blog throughout the month. Make sure you have sent a message by December 4, or else your assignment will be given away. You don’t have to send a message every day (although that would be nice), but try to send one at least twice a week. Make sure that they are anonymous, and then on December 25 send your assigned blog a message off anon revealing yourself.

oh it's fine, i totally forgot to sign the ask oops and yes, this month has gone by so fast!! the worst part is that i haven't even been doing anything so it's not even like i spent the time being productive, but hey, resting is good too as for your hobbies, that sounds fun! i've been trying to teach myself guitar and i love making art as well. what kind of art do you make? - your secret santa

i can’t believe it’s like 3 days until christmas! and yeah being productive is good and all but also you can’t just expect yourself to be working 24/7 right? ooh good luck with guitar! i just started with basic chords and stuff. i’m studying 2d animation but i mostly just like to sketch? like with pencil

Mine has been pretty stressful honestly. I just got differed from my top choice and I’m knee deep in finals and college apps. I’m very excited for the break though! What are your favorite classes right now? Is there anything you are excited about doing over break? -Secret Santa 😊🎄❄️

i actually got deferred from my top choice too (mit)! i felt pretty bad at the time but i’ve had some time to reflect and i realized that i would also be pretty happy going to most of the other schools on my list and i know i’ll get in somewhere.

my favorite course i took last term was probably my shakespeare class. i really like shakespeare and we read some really good plays of his last term that i’ve been meaning to read for a while. i’m looking forward to my creative nonfiction class next term as well bc i like writing and i mostly write about myself anyway which is perfect for the memoir we do in that class. what are some of your favorite classes?

i’m not going on any vacations or anything over break but i’m looking forward to hanging out with my friends and doing some simple stuff like watching a movie or going to the mall. do you have any exciting plans?
