whats your favorite titanic fact?

yeah, im very boring and i do not believe a single conspiracy theory about the titanic. theres not a single one ive heard that hasnt been debunked resolutely:

switch theory

coal fire theory

anything to do with titanic using substandard materials

i also dont really know if i have a favourite fact about it because its not really one of my favourite ocean liners (that honour goes to ms stockholm, the ss malolo, the rms empress of ireland and ss united states)

i will say that i enjoy the fact that the switch theory is all about an insurance scam, but they only insured a third of the ship, so it was a very bad insurance scam if it was one

if i had to come up with a favourite fact, i guess id for for one thats pretty well-known about how only the first three funnels were actually connected to the furnaces where they burnt the coal for fuel. the fourth acted as a chimney flute for the first class smoking room and also provided air ventilation to the galleys iirc.

i moreso like the fact because of why titanic had four funnels. see titanic came at a time where germany, france, britain and italy were all vying for domination on the north atlantic route and the lines were constantly outdoing each other with technological innovation and passenger spaces. this began with white star lines ss atlantic which sailed her maiden voyage in 1871 and to begin with, it was mostly british lines fighting to outdo each other until 1897 when ss kaiser wilhelm der grosse steamed onto the scene massively outdoing everyone.

and kaiser wilhelm had four funnels and so that became a trend. your ship would be seen as inferior if it didnt have four funnels, and that trend continues for decades really. pretty much up into ww2, honestly.

and so thats why titanic was designed with four funnels despite only needing four. it was basically a signal that your ship was top of the line and safe to sail on.

Roger ofc takes big offense to that and it becomes a shipwide brawl over who gets to be her dad, and Buggy is just laughing, crying, pickpocketing everyone. Only like. Shanks is just left GAPING bc ofc he loves Buggy, he always has, always will, but the way she was smiling, the way she's just beaming at the acceptance, no matter how dramatic it is - by Davy Jones, it steals his breath away.

Whatever you do tho, don't imagine Toki dressing Buggy up in traditional Wano attire. Don't imagine Toki taking on the role of aunt or big sister and sharing this culture with Buggy. Teaching her the ways of warriors from her homeland, the codes and dress and recipes. Don't imagine Toki telling Buggy "family secrets" like recipes, fighting styles, etc. Don't imagine Toki just easily saying that of course Buggy needs to know these things! Buggy comes out, hair done, kimono flawless and bright and bold and so very her, a quiet joy on her face, and the crew is FLABBERGASTED.

Roger is sobbing.

Rayleigh has suddenly aged 20 years because oh shit oh gods she's going to be beautiful as an adult, oh damn it all he's gonna have to beat men off of her-

Shanks is caught between swooning, wanting to tackle her, and remembering just how the heck breathing works.

Please, Toki would so adopt Buggy. And Oden would be THRILLED. He'll see them getting along and he'd instantly say they look like mother and daughter. Buggy would be shy about it but Toki would probably laugh and say "Oh! Do we really? What do you think, Bugs?" and it's just,, So sweet,, Oden loves her a lot and he can't wait to see his Hiyori grow up too. Roger would be FURIOUS when he hears that because he "found her first" which, you know, true, but it's a weird way of saying that's his daughter. Anyway- Rayleigh would be so fucking done with everything. They'd fight about it and Buggy would actually have the time of her life because she feels important and flashy for once in a long time, and she'd laugh oh so beautifully at them when talking with Shanks about it in their room. Like she'd just laugh at the situation and Shanks is still not getting used to his very very not platonic feelings for his best friend. But he'd enjoy his time with her. He's just going a bit insane.

I can't stop thinking now about Buggy finally finding a place to belong. She's been lost for so long,, Feeling left out. And now Toki has gifted her with the most precious treasure there is: A home. Belonging. And I am so so emotional right now. Toki would be so proud of her and Buggy would just be so thankful. If Buggy called her 'mom' at some point, she'd feel embarrassed right away, but Toki would probably fight the tears and hug her close. Going crazy, really. All the men in Buggy's life fighting for her first dance,, Rayleigh just knows he'll have to fight all the men that hurt his precious star. And Shanks is starting to think about that too and the thought of Buggy dating somebody else makes him sick, so perhaps he needs to start with a plan to confess finally (he's so asking Toki about it. I'm gonna cry). Roger crying because he wants to enjoy every second he has left with her... It kills me.

I just know that to this day, Buggy still thinks about Toki as her mom. She never mentions it to anybody, but she feels such a strong connection to Wano and she's dying to go there finally someday. She might have not been born there, but her soul belongs there. And it's just so sweet. I am sobbing, thank you. Every time she does her hair, she feels Toki's hands instead of hers and she remembers everything she taught her,,,

Now I have on my mind a very silly Shuggy thought about Shanks trying to flirt with Buggy but failing miserably (because he's a kid and he only knows how to tease her or follow Roger's advice which are, um, not good) and Buggy just being so done and exhausted. She can't stand him! He's so annoying! Sometimes she doesn't know if she wants to punch him or kiss him! And she doesn't even know if Shanks likes her back because he keeps acting stupid. And she goes to Toki for advice and she's like "oh, darling... Men are stupid. Do you know why you felt smarter than them when you were unaware of being a girl? Well, one of the reasons is that Shanks is a kid. He's dumb. But he loves you and cares so much for you... He's just having a hard time trying to make his way to your heart" / "But he-! He's so damn- Ugh. He's such an idiot. He already did, and he just doesn't know because he can't see it and I can't stand him-" / "Well, maybe you should be the one telling him, huh?" / "What?! No! And give him the satisfaction of thinking I fell first?! I'd rather die. No. He has to make the first move". And now Toki is involved (like the rest of the crew because Shuggy is a whole teen drama) in their love story because Buggy keeps complaining about men being stupid and Shanks keeps saying he doesn't get how Buggy can't see he's in love with her.

anon these questions always make me so giddy omg i cant even choose what i wanna talk about because theres a LOT we havent unpacked together yet but ok ok ok lets start here: how jon and steve differ with loving bug.

weve already established that jon helps bug because theres an obligation there from years of being together, while steve does it because he wants to. to add to this, the love is almost reflective of that

jon: i will never deserve to love but i will love you anyways because its all i know (selfishly, co dependently, raw, messy, instinctive)

steve: i will never deserve to love you but if you believe i do then i will love you with everything within me (trusting, comforting, forgiving, replenishing, complete)

for an easter egg im shocked no one has pointed out the bonus episode titles !!! season 1 bonus ep is “the beginning” because its the beginning of everything between bug and steve. the beginning of their friendship, their dynamic, their budding relationship. it all starts in that chapter. as for season 2, “the fall”, this is LITERALLY steve falling in love with bug. the bonus eps are meant to really piece together the dynamics i create throughout the seasons canon, and then bring it all together outside of canon to set up for future seasons ! the bonus ep titles will always tell you whats in store for the couple ;)

the titles of the seasons overall are also the ending of them !!! for 1 (we dont talk about it) we end with jon and bug never talking about their love for one another and instead promising to stay the same. for 2 (we thought love was something we werent meant to find), the season ends with steve and bug both finding love within one another after being led to believe they werent meant for the love they craved because of nancy and jon. for 3 (now youre a stranger) ,,,, well ! wait n see <3

ok now for some a quasi reference (more symbolism): everyone who meets bug has a crush on her but not in a cliche “reader is so pretty” way but in a “this person is so genuinely lovely and has this pull to them that you cant help but fall in love with”. they arent actually in love with bug per say, theyre in love with her kindness. its infectious, i like to think bug embodies everything we wish to be <3

finally because im sleepy i will say that the ending scene in season 2 between bug and steve still makes me so <333 to reread. the idea that someone will wait for you, and that they trust you to come back, is just so beautiful to me. not only was bug putting her heart in steves hands, he placed his in hers as well. she trusts that he will love her in the end, she wont rush him, and he trusts that she will be there for him when he falls :’)))

i also really really adore the final scene between jon and bug in season 1, when theyre in the car and everything settles between them and bug makes jon promise that nothing will change. ugh. it breaks my heart every time. its so so so bittersweet :( it parallels steve and bug a year later at the end of season 2 and i just. im so proud of that as well

Here’s your bachelor content! No cut this time since it's relatively short. Gender neutral language, suggestive and fluffy, I love them all dearly. Sigh.

Sam is fine with either! If you like being the big spoon, cool! He loves hugs! You wanna be the little spoon? Alright, scooch over so he can get comfortable against your back! This guy is flexible, go-with-the-flow and loves being near you, so he doesn’t have a preference. However he does move around quite a bit in his sleep, and he also runs hot, so don’t expect to go to bed and wake up in the same position—because he will have moved at some point, and probably threw the blankets around a bit. The moment he wakes up, though, he’s glued to you.

Seb is fine with both, but his preference will depend on your height. In his mind, the taller person is usually the big spoon, so if you’re taller, you get to be the big spoon, and if you aren’t, then he has no complaints about latching onto you like a backpack. He moves a bit in his sleep, but only by switching to lying on his back instead of on his side. But, if I’m being 100% honest with myself and you, he actually prefers cuddling with his head resting on your lower stomach and bracketed between your thighs. Top tier cuddling position for him, hands down. Likes how easy it is for him to turn his head and press kisses to your inner thighs.

Alex is the big spoon. No question about it. His favorite place to kiss you is the back of your neck, and being the big spoon allows him to do so easily. Aside from that, he just loves the feeling of you pressed against his chest. The weight of your body pulled against him like that is a huge comfort to him, and it’s the only way he can fall asleep. He doesn’t move at all in his sleep—it’s a little unsettling at first, because he’s a super deep sleeper as well, so at first you thought he died in his sleep lmfao.

Elliott prefers to be the little spoon! He’s similar to Alex in that he finds it easier to fall asleep, but while you’re holding him. Your night routine also has a lot to do with it; he’s got pretty long hair, and before bed you always take care to braid it for him so it’s out of the way and won’t get tangled in his sleep. It also makes it easier for you when you latch onto his back like a koala, pressing your sleepy smile into the space between his shoulder blades. He loves waking up to you pressing kisses against the slope of his back. 

Shane is a little spoon. I don’t care if that’s controversial, the moment you wrap your arms around him and cuddle close against his back, he is gone. The first time you did it he almost started crying because he couldn’t remember a time when anyone had treated him so softly or gently. Your hold on him is always so loving, too, especially when he rests his palms over your hands on his chest and you lace your hands together? Dude, he’s ready to get down on one knee right then and there.

Harvey likes being the big spoon. With how often you go galavanting through the mines without a care in the world for your neck, he’s constantly anxious about your safety, so being the big spoon allows him just a fraction of comfort. It makes him feel like he’s protecting you from the world—like he’s shielding you from negative outside forces, or any creatures that intend to harm you. And you know, maybe he just likes feeling you curled up in his arms, too.

Aaaahhhh I’M SO GLAD TO HEAR THAT

I waited to answer this cause you made my day and I wanted to give you a ficlet in return but my inspiration has yet to return from the war (alas finals). I do have a handful of fics I’m working on rn I just…can’t seem to finish them. So I’ll offer you some headcanons and thoughts instead!

I have a lot so I’ll just put them under the cut XD

Time’s mother was a fairy who left the forest to explore and fell for a mortal man she met during her travels. Like Hyrule, she could transform into a human whenever she wanted to and vice versa.

Time’s transformation is much like his mother’s. He can change at will. However, if he comes into direct contact with fae magic his body will automatically start to transform. If he doesn’t want this to happen he has to focus on funneling magic away from that particular ability, which is exhausting.

He feels even more comfortable in his fairy form than in his Hylian one. It makes him feel closer to Navi and the Kokiri.

Malon is the first — and for a long time only — person outside of the Kokiri to know Time’s secret. She thinks he’s absolutely adorable in that form…fae mischief and all. She loves her tiny chaos husband

Warriors found out that Time can transform during the war. Time — then Mask — turned into a fairy solely to fly up and tell off the Great Fairy who had the captain trapped in a bottle to her face. Surprisingly, she listened to him and set Warriors free

Time can heal people like most fairies can, but it isn’t his strong suit. While he can mend even severe wounds, it takes a lot of strength and concentration for him to do so. He usually conks out seconds later — something that causes him to only rely on this power as a last resort.

Time’s wings are a cross between the Luna Moth

And a Crecopia Moth (the largest moth in North America!

While I imagine Hyrule having powerful but small wings, Time’s are HUGE. And though they’re almost transparent (similar to the Luna Moth), they sport the same false eyes you see on the Crecopia. They freak people out when they look closer

I’m still undecided on the coloring of his wings. In my first fic I described them as green and pink (inspired by the Great Fairy mask from Majora’s Mask and his home in the forest). But now I’m pondering changing that to shades of blue and red FD style (with veins of gold). Idk I like the menacing air that would have.

Last but not least, Sky and Time actually get along better after he finds out Time’s secret (every boy eventually finds out; secrets are bound to get out somehow in a group of nosy heroes XD). He gets to see a side of Time he hasn’t before and Time realizes how deeply he can trust him. (You’ll know why when I write the fic hehe)

ari ari ari i need your thoughts on this!!! suguru who lives and breathes being able to take care of his s/o, like that's HIS MEANING to life once he's found The One. butbutbut what if he got severely sick like he isnt able to even get up and he's all weak and frail like a victorian child. obv his s/o wouldnt mind it at all and would LOOOOOVE to pamper him like the roles are literally reversed but he feels sooooooo guilty that now hes the one being taken care plsplspls this has been plaguing my mind

THIS CONCEPT IS SO DEAR TO MY HEART………… hang on let me get my thoughts in order .

suguru is just . such a caretaker type. he feels so much more comfortable in that position. i absolutely think he’d devote himself to tending to your needs, and i absolutely think he’d feel extremely uncomfortable if he got so sick that he couldn’t do that anymore 😭 if he was forced into a position where he couldn’t do anything but meekly let you take care of him…. it makes him so viscerally uncomfortable because it’s just so foreign!!!!

this is just my take on him, but i really feel like suguru was neglected as a child …… he strikes me as the type who had to take care of himself, always, so that’s where he feels most comfortable. he’s so used to take care of others, and himself, and i think it gives him a sense of control that he’s dependent on. so when he gets hit with such a severe wave of sickness… and he can’t even get out of bed on his own…. :’3 well . i think he feels very helpless and very uncomfortable!!!!! maybe even a little irritated . he just hates the feeling i think…

so!!! you have to ease him into it :3 deep down he’d probably really, really enjoy being pampered and tended to…. but he’s so hesitant . i feel like he tries to fend you off and reassure you at first, but when you’ve made it clear that you’re taking care of him whether he likes it or not ……. he probably. gets a little shy 😭 he’s just a baby…….. speaks even softer than usual because his throat is raspy, pouts after taking his medicine, blushes a little when you spoon-feed him soup………. he’s just. SO cute. he gets so clingy i think. he really loves the attention and he’s very very embarrassed about it LMAO

ANYWAYYY IN CONCLUSION . you’re so bigbrained anon <3333 this man needs to be pampered and babied relentlessly . made then he’ll relax a bit.
