Hellooooooo, I've been reading a lot of Superman comics that inspired me, so I decided to try something new and paint a tribute in vignettes of one of my favorite scenes in Smallville!

Very different than my usual work, this took many hours. It's oil pastel on paper, size is 22.9x30.5 (9x12 inches). It looks so much better in real life by the way, so I included some details of the faces that are arounf 5 cm tall in the piece.

something something true love something something everyone else in clark’s life was constantly suspicious of him and never accepted him having a secret but lois not only acknowledged that he had one, but allowed him to keep it without question and then when she found out purely by accident not by investigating him like everyone else, she waited for him to come to her.

like think about it. people say lana is his true love when lana treated him like the worst of the worst for having a secret. then she arranged an elaborate scheme to figure out what his secret was. then she pretty much immediately told him she had found out. compare that to lois who told him they could keep some secrets because she understood he needed that. then when she found out from recognizing clark’s kiss when he was the blur, she waited for him to tell her and constantly reassured him that she would understand. she went as far as pulling a knife out of him and running away before he woke up so he wouldn’t be forced to tell her on her terms. the only other person who even tried to give him that amount of control over how he told her was chloe, his best friend and even she did a lot of investigating to figure out his secret and only afterwards did she decide to let him tell her (at lois’s insistence mind you!).

i don’t know it just means so much to me that lois understands him so deeply that she knew that his secret identity was being kept from her for a reason and was okay with waiting for him to tell the truth.
