simon finally makes his way to bed after staying in his shed for hours after you’d gone to sleep. your birthday was coming soon and he wanted to surprise you with a new item from his woodworking hobby. it was a cutting board. he remembered you complaining about how yours was getting worn down, but you hadn’t been able to find a good one at the store recently.

he cut and stained each piece meticulously to make his own gradient design before sanding and treating it with mineral oil. he even drew up small sketches of his ideas, wanting it to be perfect for you.

sliding into bed beside you, he cuddles up to you from behind, pulling you into a spooning position. you sleepily hum, scooting closer to his chest before drifting off again within seconds. he instantly feels relaxed and tired, your natural warm smell comforting him. “night lovie,” he whispers, softly kissing your shoulder, drawing small circles onto your hip until his eyes start to grow heavy, joining you in your dream.
