Purple tremors: a Xiaolumi fanfic (Genshin Impact) ~ Chapter one ~
Tumblr media
Summary: Xiao's expression shuttered, before his fingers curled to clasp her hand equally tight. He stepped in close as if to hide her inside his shadow.
"Give your body over to me. The wind will take you. Nothing will hurt you while we travel."
Aka: Xiao finds an injured Lumine on a beach in Liyue after her encounter with the Raiden Shogun.
---
AN: I've been playing Genshin for two months so I haven't completed every main quest yet- hopefully I don't make too many lore mistakes (go easy on me!) I just really love this ship's potential.
Rated M for some mild suggestive themes. Read on Ao3 - here.
-----
There is a beach she likes to walk across in Liyue. Intimate and hushed like a lover’s rendezvous point, it lies South-East of Wangshu Inn; perfect for a quick glide from the inn's Waypoint if one felt like letting the wind comb through their hair.
Tonight she took off her heels and wandered barefoot over the white sands of Yaoguang Shoal. It slumbered quiet and undisturbed at night. Whatever Hilichurls or enemies that usually prowled the shores were absent or sleeping at the foot of the cliffs, posing no threat.
Closing weary eyes, Lumine tilted her chin up to the cool, gentle fingers of a sea breeze. It ruffled her hair playfully, briefly inspiring a half smile when it reminded her of Venti. Mondstadt and all its residents felt so very far away right then. Even as she walked in Liyue, her mind was back in Inuzuma.
Lumine watched with a kind of detached awareness as surf climbed up to tease her toes, eventually swallowing her ankles in cool rolling waters with each new push and pull of the tide.
Her fingers shook, and she curled them into loose, trembling fists, tightening a thin shawl around her shoulders that Thoma had given her. The sea looked so tranquil at night, kissed with tender moonlight. She envied its calm and serenity.
Paimon had been left behind at Komore Teahouse, taking a much-needed rest. Lumine absorbed the heavy silence left in her wake. Sometimes the floating spitfire's constant presence could feel a little exhausting, but most of the time Lumine was eternally grateful for her chatter. Because without Paimon everything stopped. The ceaseless unending quiet and nothingness threatened to pull her in with the force of a yawning void.
Aether…
Another twinge, this time like needles in her shoulder- bit deep. Lumine hissed out a tight breath, touching her tender arm. The skin felt raw and fragile, as if it could split open at the slightest scrape. She could handle pain if it meant being one step closer to finding her brother, but lately…it had all felt exceedingly hopeless. A goal constantly out of reach. She was becoming fatigued by straining for it.
Her lips thinned and bent down at the sides. Soon they trembled. Her hand began shaking again, fingers jolting from tiny spasms. Lumine wasn't sure she could command them to lie still this time. The ringing in her ears was only just beginning to subside.
"It's unusual to find you alone."
Sucking in a sharp breath, Lumine turned. She hadn't sensed anyone in the area, but that wouldn't do much good when trying to locate-
"Xiao," she murmured, taken aback.
He stood a little ways away on the beach, arms folded. Something hard was in his eyes, the luminous yellow flicking over her face quickly, as if concerned.
Lumine faced the ocean once more, hoping to hide her expression. "What are you doing here? It's late."
"Adepti don't require the same amount of sleep mortals do," his curt, even tone reached her ears. As she listened, she picked up on the soft crunch of footfalls upon the sand. "If you're going to chide someone about staying out late, I can think of a better candidate. You look as though you need rest far more than I do."
"Hm, is that your way of telling me I look awful?" she quipped.
"No, never."
When Lumine glanced at him next, she found him closer than expected. His gaze was direct and serious, until he seemed to realise how the fervor in his words might be taken.
"That is to say- you seem tired. More than tired, honestly," he uttered, stepping closer. "Are you alright?"
They were side by side now, a respectable distance between their arms. Lumines skin cried out for contact despite the pain it would probably bring.
There are a thousand things Lumine wants to say. She's surprised he's here and wants to ask about it. Xiao never approached her first. She always called him, and he'd respond. A request and an acceptance. Always- without fail, he’d appear, no matter how busy he may be. It was in those moments she felt his kindness most keenly.
"More than tired sounds pretty accurate for what I'm feeling right now." She forced a smile, pretending to watch the ocean's horizon with her full attention. The silence felt so loud as she waited for him to speak, wanting it. Wanting the soft, solemn cadence of his voice.
"…I might not be the best at conversation," he muttered, a faint rumble in his tone that belied his awkwardness. "But if you want to talk I will listen."
She didn't miss a beat. "I'm fine."
Xiao just stared at her, that intense air about him softening with each passing moment. His brows pulled together briefly, before he sighed. "Lying to an adeptus. I'm sure there must be some kind of karmic punishment for that."
Lumine’s lips pressed into a thin line. Her eyes stung. Everything ached. "Karmic punishment? I think the Archons can dish out punishment personally rather than waiting for karma to do their bidding."
She could feel his ageless attention settling on her again. "Is this about the Raiden Shogun?"
Lumine couldn't hide her flinch. She turned to face him fully, unable to hide her reaction. How did he know? She’d mentioned she’d be heading for Inuzuma but that was the last time they’d spoken.
Xiao watched her pensively for a moment longer before gesturing to her shoulders. Something firm and hard entered his usually calm tone.
"You're trembling. Show me your wounds, Lumine. Now."
"I'm f-"
"Enough," he growled, their faces inches away now. Xiao's lashes were dark yet tinged with teal, just like his hair. Lumine started as he grabbed her by the shawl. "I never took you for a fool that would ignore their own condition if they were injured."
"Xiao, hey-!"
She'd wanted to stop him, had grabbed his arm too late. Her shoulders sang with relief against the cool night air in contrast to Xiao's sharp inhale. The shawl pooled at her ankles.
His own hands trembled the longer he gazed at the damage painting her back with multiple branching marks. Lightning burns wrapped around her bare shoulders, the unique pattern of skin lesions feathered into tree-like splinters that shot down her spine, hinting at the true level of damage her flesh had endured. The red, angry marks disappeared under her backless dress.
The shore began to blur, becoming a murky mix of blended colours as Lumines eyes stung. Hot droplets ran down her cheeks- only to be halted by rough material.
Xiao shifted his fingers, wiping the tears away with rough, awkward scrubs. Lumine blinked, her heart constricting at the gesture.
He looked grim, yet understanding. There was nothing damning inside those eyes despite the punishment he administered to foes. There was only acceptance. For these reasons, Lumine was eternally thankful no one else had found her in such a state. She stifled a sob, bowing her head and trying not to lose it.
"Come with me," Xiao muttered. His hand was offered more gently this time. "I don't know what happened and won't insist you tell me. Still, the fact remains: you need those wounds taken care of," gloved fingers softly nudged hers. "You can admire the views of Liyue some other time. Come."
At his third gentle prompt to take his hand, Lumine internally mused that Xiao had never acted so insistent before. Really though, he needn't have worried about dressing up the offer.
Lumine would always accept his hand.
She took it, cradling it tightly between both of her own like a lifeline.
His expression shuttered, before his fingers curled to clasp her hand equally tight. He stepped in close as if to hide her inside his shadow.
"Give your body over to me. The wind will take you. Nothing will hurt you while we travel."
Xiao was obviously not considering the fact that Lumine had put herself through pain just getting to the beach from Inuzuma’s waypoint, and so fully accepted the idea of experience more just to get to a safe place. She bit her lip briefly, finally inclining her head and admitting defeat. “Alright,” she murmured quietly.
Gusts of gentle winds swept blonde hair back from her face. The air currents gradually picked up into strong gales beneath her feet, lifting her body. Lumine felt herself be cushioned, spirited along via the currents and bursts of air- carrying her right across the waters like a skipping stone until they strengthened, lifting her to new heights above jagged stones. Xiao was a constant presence at her side, occasionally brandishing his spear to guide the winds, but mostly following with quick bursts of speed mid-air. Adeptus energy wrapped around her like a tender embrace.
True to his word, Xiao ensured she didn’t feel an ounce of discomfort. It wasn't long before she glimpsed the tall outline of Wangshu Inn looming closer.
Instead of dropping her off as expected in her guest room that Verr Goldet had picked out for her and Paimon once upon a time, Xiao lifted a hand and unglamoured a previously hidden floor at the inn. Lumine watched with wide eyes as he stepped down onto the highest floor’s balcony, weakening the winds buffering her body to stay afloat until she eventually lowered completely- falling right into his waiting arms. Lumine stiffened, but not for the reasons he likely thought.
“We’re almost there, hang on,” Xiao muttered, guilt passing briefly over his face as he carried her further into the unknown floor. She wrapped her arms around his neck and marvelled at the foreign feeling. She wasn’t used to being carried by anyone. The sense of closeness that body heat provided made her hunger for something inexplicable. She didn’t know what she was feeling: only that she suddenly didn’t want to let go. Feathery strands of dark hair tickled her arms as they tightened, looped around his neck. Lumine looked around to busy herself, spotting a bed and several shelves of books as they moved into a private room. Shattered spears lined up against a wall, discarded.
“I’ve never seen your room before,” she observed a few scattered things lying around, as if he’d been in the middle of sharpening his weapon. “It’s messier than expected for the vigilant yaksha.”
Xiao scoffed. “Why am I not surprised that snooping is your main priority in this situation?”
Despite his words, she glimpsed his lips twitch at the corners.
Lumine let herself be placed onto the soft surface of his bed. Xiao pulled away slightly, and reluctantly, she let her arms naturally fall away- hissing soon after at the white-hot sting of agony the shifting muscles evoked.
Xiao’s brows pulled together. His gloved hand caught her chin, tilting it up so that their gazes met. “This next part isn’t free from risks, but if you do exactly as I say, I can help,” he said, something in his solemn expression faltering- exposing a glimpse of true worry. “Do you trust me?”
She gave a faint nod. There was no hesitation. “With my life.”
“Good. Undress.”

Cecilias // CynoNari
Fandom: Genshin Impact Ship: CynoNari
Summary: Tighnari helps Albedo design a card back for Cyno.
Tumblr media
“Cyno has an unexpected fondness for plants like desert shrubs, lotuses and roses. You can use flowers for the border of his new card back. He wants Dvalin to be the centerpiece so you should choose a Mondstadt flower to match. Unfortunately, I’ve only read of the flowers here and I’m not very artistic so I can’t make further suggestions.”
Tighnari walked along the cliff with Albedo. The view was breathtaking and he wished that he could share it with Cyno and Collei. They were both busy with their own sightseeing though. A pleasant breeze passed him and filtered through the swaying Cecilias. He wanted to collect a few flower samples to bring back to Sumeru and study. Albedo joined him because the view would give him inspiration for Cyno’s commission. During the hike, their conversation naturally drifted to Cyno.
“Aether wrote to me of his adventures in Sumeru. Cyno was not how I imagined the General Mahamatra to be. Though, he did say that he’s the Adventurer Cyno on this trip.” Tighnari couldn’t read Albedo’s expression to know whether he truly enjoyed Cyno’s joke or not. “I’m curious how you and Collei came to know Cyno. He doesn’t seem like the type to mix work and personal relationships.”
“Actually, we met through his work. He suspected me of academic corruption and investigated my study group.” Tighnari had told the story of how he met Cyno countless times because many people would ask the same question as Albedo. Shock briefly passed his face and he quickly added: “It was a misunderstanding. You can imagine my surprise when the General Mahamatra approached me with flowers and apologized for wrongly suspecting me. I must’ve left a good impression because he asked me to care for Collei on his behalf.”
“Since I have a little sister, that decision is a significant sign of trust.” Albedo nodded. He was often busy with his alchemy and I couldn’t play with Klee whenever she wished. He took solace in the fact that Mondstadt was a carefree city and she could always find a knight to help her. “Cyno and I have a lot in common, it seems. I am captain of an investigation team and we enjoy dry humour.”
“It might be more accurate to call his puns forced rather than just dry humour.” Tighnari walked further up the mountain where the wind was stronger. He was certain that he could hear the silence that would often follow one of Cyno’s jokes. “I’m glad that you like his jokes. They’re not the best jokes but he puts a lot of effort into them. So far, only Nahida has laughed at his jokes. On the other hand, your comment about jokes not needing to make people laugh will encourage him to tell those puns the entire journey back to Sumeru.”
“His jokes are quite witty.” Albedo tilted his head in confusion. He thought that Tighnari would’ve appreciate Cyno’s puns because he was also a scholar. On the other hand, he also considered Aether and Sucrose to be intelligent yet they didn’t laugh either. Humans were truly confusing at times. “I will listen to his jokes so you don’t have to.”
“It’s not about that.” He realized how his previous words could sound like disdain for his humour and corrected Albedo. “The reason I’m glad Cyno’s jokes is because he’ll have one more person who understands him. Due to his reputation as the General Mahamatra, people are far too wary of him. They only need to give him a chance to see how kind, loyal and funny he is. Don’t tell him about that last one. It’ll further encourage his bad jokes.”
“You really care about Cyno, don’t you?”
“Of course, we have a close relationship.” He nodded in agreement but there were deeper feelings that he didn’t voice. Tighnari held the Cecilia flower against his lips and its pale colour contrasted with the blush on his cheeks. “I want him to be happy. I learned how to play Genius Invokation TCG just for him. The game is unexpectedly fun. Though, it’s impossible to force myself to laugh at his jokes. I respect Cyno too much to lie about his puns.”
Tighnari began to ramble about Cyno like he would with his love for plants. With each word, a fond smile grew over his face until his feelings were impossible to hide. He didn’t appear to realize it himself. Despite how he wanted Cyno to find more friends who understood him, a part of him couldn’t help but feel a little jealous. His mother warned him that fennec foxes could be territorial.
“When did you and Cyno start dating?” Albedo considered it an innocent question until he saw the way Tighnari’s ears flattened. His blush grew and the flower he held couldn’t hide it anymore. While they were camping, Tighnari spoke with a sharp tongue and Albedo didn’t expect to see him become flustered. It was clear that Tighnari had yet to confess to Cyno.
“I heard that Mondstadt was carefree but I didn’t expect you to be so direct with your words. Even scholars in the Akademiya would have the social grace to not talk about someone’s romantic life.” Tighnari tried to brush aside Albedo’s words. He quickly realized that was impossible because Albedo continued to probe him with questions.
“Did I read the situation wrong? Alice told me that I could be too recluse and that will affect my relationships. I tend to overthink human relationships too. I thought I was improving in recent years.” Albedo mused to himself. His voice was more curious than regretful. Then, he faced Tighnari and said: “You should tell Cyno how you feel. During Windblume, people will give flowers to their loved ones and express their feelings.”
“Can we discuss the card back for Cyno?” Tighnari tried to steer the conversation away from his unspoken feelings for his best friend.
“Do you want the card back to be the Windblume that you’ll give to Cyno? It’s unconventional but people are free to choose anything that symbolizes love and freedom.” Albedo took out his sketchbook from his bag. “I have a few designs in mind based on our earlier discussion. The Cecilia flower is said to represent a once wayward heart transformed by the power of love.”
“Wayward heart?” Tighnari repeated the words and laughed softly to himself. His gaze wandered to the flowers around them and they reminded him of Cyno’s long hair. Sometimes, he would run his fingers through his hair similar to how the wind passed through the flowers now. “Cyno values justice and I can’t remember a time his heart has ever wavered. His job is important to him and a relationship would make it complicated. I won’t let that happen.”
“I know of a time when Cyno’s heart was uncertain.” Albedo surprised Tighnari. He had known Cyno for years yet he wasn’t able to think of what he could be referring to. “Years ago, I overheard a conversation between Cyno and Lisa. I think it was when Collei first came to Mondstadt. Cyno insisted that Collei should stay here.”
Tighnari’s brows furrowed together in confusion. He recalled the day Cyno introduced him to Collei. That night, they discussed how they would raise her and everything she needed. There wasn’t a hint of doubt or hesitation in his voice.
Albedo continued: “Cyno was adamant that it was dangerous to take her back to the Akademiya. The sages might treat her like a test subject.”
“I understand now.” Tighnari said and bit his lip. Cyno had told him about his childhood in the Akademiya. While his adoptive father and Lisa were kind to Cyno, they couldn’t protect him from everything. “He never told me directly but I already assumed that was why he wanted to help Collei seal the god’s remains. What made him decide to bring her to Sumeru in the end?”
“You,” was Albedo’s simple answer. “He told Lisa that there’s a scholar who he trusts with his life. This scholar was a moral and kind man who could help Collei. He wouldn’t make such a decision lightly. Cyno doesn’t consider you or Collei a burden to his job. He’s likely waiting for you to confess first like you decided to do.”
“I—”
“Tighnari!” He heard Cyno call his name from the base of the base of the mountain. Tighnari ran to meet him halfway. As they drew closer, Tighnari could see the different plants in Cyno’s arms and the subtle smile on his lips. Cyno stopped in front of him and handed him a Windwheel Aster from his makeshift bouquet. “I managed to take a picture of Dvalin and I wanted to show it to you. I picked a few Mondstadt specialties on the way here. This knight showed me where they were.”
“Thank you, Cyno. These would be great for my research once we return to Sumeru.” Tighnari slipped the Cecilia flower and the Windwheel Aster into the bouquet before he took the flowers. “You came just in time because Albedo and I were working on your card back. I made a few suggestions to him. I hope you don’t mind.”
“I trust you.” Cyno said. He noticed a few petals caught in Tighnari’s hood and he dusted them away. “The wind is strong here. What did the ocean say to the Cecilia flowers growing at the top of the cliff? Well, the flower couldn’t hear him so he just waved.”
“You must be in a great mood to make a pun like.” Tighnari laughed. Cyno didn’t expect him to do so and he was pleasantly surprised by the sight. “Let’s show that photo to Albedo. I told him you would prefer to have the dragon in an action pose mid-flight.”
“You know me well and that’s why I trust you.”

My Playable Characters Shipping List
Tumblr media
So many characters in genshin impact, so taking screenshots of a wiki character list, I edited them together to make a shipping chart! You're welcome to use it how ever you want
Tumblr media
_______________________________________
My Top 10 In Order:
1. Itto x Gorou -
The first Genshin Ship in my collection and still number one. Itto is always the first to fall in my ship and THE definition of golden retriever energy. When Gorou begins to notice his attention on him more often, he gets flustered and slowly falls for him back. Precious wholesome warriors, making a great team and greater lovers.
2. Cyno x Tighnari -
2nd place mostly cause of canon team-up and fanart. Also been debating on which one I'd be good at cosplaying if only I had the money (leaning toward Cyno.) Cyno is the first to fall and even while Tighnari cringes at his jokes, we all know he gives that clear "you're lucky I love you" face. I dream of a relationship like theirs.
3. Kaveh x Alhaitam -
Saw it once or twice on my Twitter feed until it turned into nothing but Kavetham and Cynari, and I eventually began to obsess. Alhaitham surprisingly falls first but can't express it properly, like a neurodivergent with alexithymia. Kaveh slowly shifts his thoughts of Alhaitham from "can't believe I put up with that guy"  to "can't believe I'm in love with that guy". I think the autistic introvert -&- depressed extrovert angle may make for some interestingly dramatic angst. Good angst is fun to write. Plus, I'm on the spectrum and I can confirm that reading emotions (even our own) is either hard or near impossible.
4. Ayaka x Lumine -
The traveler I went with in my game is Lumine and I fell for Ayaka hard when we hung out at a festival before Lumine is made an enemy of the shogunate. Clearly, in the game, Ayaka falls in love first; but I also made an OC named Yuna Ren who fell for Ayaka as a child. I know it's cringe but... It's Ayaka-chan! I can admit I'm a bit of a simp for her.
5. Bennett x Razor -
When I found out they were friends, it was cool, but I saw something more building. Razor falls first, though doesn't understand it. Bennett enjoys having a more permanent team member and grows closer every day. They're super cute little twinks.
6. Ningguang x Beidou -
Two boss girls both dom energy however with good communication it works. Also whenever I feel like I ship too many dudes, I look at hot-I mean-pretty girls with chemistry. (Honestly, I'm surprised with how many mlm ships I have.) Ningquang falls first and... I may have an idea for an erotica oneshot. Stay tuned.
7. Xiao x Aether -
Mainly cause of fanart and if Lumine has Ayaka, the twin bro deserves a lil something special too. Xiao falls first. I mean- c'mon. That guy shows up within a second of calling his name like a genie.
8. Albedo x Sucrose -
Such a sweet and gentle intelligent pair. Sucrose falls for Albedo, and I can see Sucrose being his personal art model. If it was possible, I'd most likely cosplay as albedo (since him and HatGuy are the closest things I find to canon enby's in the game and not much a fan of the wanderer except his skill.)
9. Kazuha x Heizou -
Heizou's voicelines about Kazuha are really intresting. He obviously falls first and makes complex plans to hang out with him. They look very cute together.
10. Zingqui x Chongyun -
Sometimes when 2 characters just stand side-to-side in canon and if you see enough fanart, that's enough to ship two characters. Xingqiu falls first for the exorcist. I also think the combos of blue between the two is pretty nice.

[image ID: a short comic of Genshin Impact characters in a simple, cartoony art style. featured here are: Tighnari-- different from his canon depiction, shown here as a thin, dark-skinned man with short, dark teal hair + fox ears, and teal/green/yellow clothing; Aether-- a slim, tan-skinned man with light blonde hair pulled into a long braid, and his typical gold/black/white outfit; and Paimon-- a small, chubby, baby-proportioned fairy-thing with fair skin, and long, white hair. she’s wearing her typical white/gold/starry outfit, and she’s floating near Aether’s head.
the dialogue is as follows:
Tighnari, walking ahead of Aether and Paimon as he calmly gestures to the surrounding forest: You should note that many of the plants found in Sumeru have names that are contrary to their species. Take the Kalpalata Lotus, for example--
Aether wears a placidly happy expression as he listens to Tighnari, while Paimon has her arms crossed, looking annoyed.
Paimon: Wow, Tighnari won’t shut up about plants. Cringe.
Aether, completely breaking his calm as he looms over a shocked Paimon, pointing down at her and yelling exaggeratedly: YOU’RE CRINGE
Aether reverts back to the same placid expression as before, while Paimon floats silently next to him, completely rattled. she glances at Aether for a moment before looking blankly away, too stunned to speak.
Tighnari is still rattling on about plants ahead of them, unaware of their conversation: --and then there’s the Sumeru Rose, which--
we see Paimon in a bathroom later, floating in front of a small sink for her size, anchored to the wall near a human-sized sink. she’s hunched over the sink, gripping the sides and crying with an exaggerated expression of anguish.
end ID]
me every time Paimon is rude to a character I like: If Not For The Laws Of Fictional Video Games I Would Punt You Into The Sun
(callback to this classic comic, and featuring my Tighnari redesign)

Genshin Impact VA Caught Amid Allegations
Yet another scandal has rocked the voice acting community. Elliot Gindi, best known as the English voice of Tighnari in Genshin Impact, is facing allegations of sexual misconduct with fans. Earlier yesterday (2/8/23), fans were taken aback to find a lengthy apology for inappropriate conduct with fans, and now, the whole story is emerging online thanks to victim statements.
For those not in the know, Twitter user FretCore posted an in-depth Google Document (linked below) including statements from Gindi's alleged victims. Another user, Phiotan, released personal DMs and now-deleted Discord messages of the conversations, depicting an unsettling image. The user, who was one of Gindi's Twitch and Discord moderators, shared the info with permission from those involved with the voice actor.
Phiotan on Twitter: "So apparently people want screen recordings to make sure we aren't faking it, which is completely fair! I can offer at least this much. https://t.co/9E3jDy3eUV" / Twitter
Elliot Gindi - Google Docs (Beware – contains strong language!)
In response, Gindi posted a long-form apology owning up to most of the messages. The note, which can be read here, acknowledges the behavior was inappropriate though with a caveat. Gindi stresses he did not "knowingly" do anything with anyone underage or disrespect anyone's chosen pronouns. Allegations of such were laid out in the Google Doc shared to social media.
Many of his fellow voice actors have expressed outrage and disgust with his actions. Zach Aguilar, the voice of Tanjiro Kamado from Demon Slayer and the Male Traveler (Aether) in Genshin, wrote: “Disappointed and angry. I have removed the stream with Elliot and will no longer be associating with him. I refuse to give someone like this a platform in any way. To use your power this way over fans is disgusting and shameful. My heart goes out for the victims of this situation.”
Tumblr media
Erika Harlacher, the voice of Venti, gave us her two cents: "Furious. Elliot Gindi has been removed from all group streams/activities I have any part in organizing moving forward. I'm... this is really triggering for me..."
Erika Harlacher-Stone on Twitter: "Furious. Elliot Gindi has been removed from all group streams/activities I have any part in organizing moving forward. I’m… this is really triggering for me…" / Twitter
Ashley Biski, the voice of Layla, also threw her ring in the hat, saying that she’s “not retweeting no damn “apology”. You’re sorry you got CAUGHT. So please seek help.”
Ashely Biski = Layla❄️✨ on Twitter: "And I’m not retweeting no damn “apology”. You’re sorry you got CAUGHT. So please seek help." / Twitter
At this time, no word has been given on how this development may impact Gindi's roles.

You know those Fire Emblem Three Houses fanworks where Byleth retains memories from all of the routes? Take this as an equivalent scenario.
In which Childe once again interrupts Aether’s reverie for an affectionate moment. I guess that’s just how these two are going to operate 😆 Childe’s straightforward train of thought contrasts Aether’s tendency to dwell on things.

If Not A God, Who Am I? - Genshin Impact x Reader (part 2)
my full masterlist | my Genshin Impact masterlist | this series' masterlist -> part 3
please like and reblog if you enjoyed! thank u <3
total words: 3854 not accurate to official GI lore (it's my lore now). author's note at the bottom! *not fully edited (as of now).
description: Never once in your lifetime did you ever expect to be thrown into the world of Genshin Impact, a game you only played once a week with your friends. Much less did you ever expect to suddenly be thrusted into the life many could only wish for, the role of a God. Not even an ordinary God - The residents of Teyvat saw you as The Creator of Teyvat. There was only one problem: You are an atheist. You do not believe in Gods.
Gender-neutral reader, They/Them pronouns.
TW: cult-like, obsessive behaviour from Aether. Soft yandere qualities, but no mentions of gore (blood etc.)
previously on INAGWAI:
You grimaced. Aether frowns, quickly taking note of the change in your mood. "Your Grace, if I may ask, is there a problem?" You pursed your lips, shyly rocking back-and-forth on the balls of your feet. "Actually yes,"
"Is there something we could do? The chance to serve you in-person is so exciting!" Amber's brown eyes sparkled brightly under the sunlight, appearing like melted honey. Truth be told, you felt a little bad for ruining her sprit with your next response. "How do I say this.." You muttered. "You can be honest with us, promise!" Paimon encourages.
"Gods don't exist."
Your three companions froze, all staring at you with pure shock. The little fairy was the first to recover, floating nearer to your face to stare into your eyes. "You're joking.. Right?" She asked with a quiet voice.
Part II - Information
"What do you mean, 'Gods don't exist'?" Paimon parroted your own words back at you, an incredulous look on her face. You raised an eyebrow in question. "They literally.. Do not?" You chuckled. "I mean, have you even met one?"
Paimon splutters. You could practically see the light fade from her eyes as shock envelops her being. The little companion still ever so gracefully, sunk downwards. The Hydro slime catches her with ease, with no reservations to be used as a temporary cushion. "She sunk.." Amber gasped. Aether simply stared. He was deep in his mind, searching for answers for questions he never thought possible. He almost chuckles at the ironic situation - How could you not believe in the exact being you were?
Never once did any of you bear the thought of Paimon.. Not floating. It felt odd, illegal even.
The gloomy atmosphere that had taken over your companions had made you feel guilty. While it was true that you did not believe in the existence of any divine being such as Gods, you certainly did not want your views on religion to influence others. You knew that people should be free to believe in whoever they place their trust to, as well as the freedom to change beliefs at their own will. You also thought that whoever others were religiously faithful to, was none of your business.
You waved your hands in a panic, "No, no! Bad choice of words," You chuckled awkwardly, heaving a small sigh of relief when you noticed Paimon had perked up - just the tiniest bit - at your words. Great, you were now reassured that you had not killed the fairy. At least the tough part of the job was done.
"I do not believe in the existence of Gods." You started, watching carefully at your audience to gauge their reactions. Paimon visibly deflated once more, slumping forward. She appeared almost as if a robot had powered-off due to low battery. Amber had a crestfallen look on her face. It felt foreign to see the outrider like that, given her usual cheerful and bubbly personality. Yet Aether, perhaps your most loyal acolyte of them all, stared at you with a blank expression.
While you were used to seeing him with such an expression during your short time as a Genshin Impact player, especially before suddenly being dumped into Teyvat, being on the receiving end of it was an odd experience. His stare was not penetrating enough to make you scared, Archons no! The traveller would rather sacrifice himself before even accidentally making you scared of him. Should that happen, his poor heart would never be able to accept it.
His blank stare was just enough to make you feel unsettled. You felt almost as if you had wronged him in some capacity. Almost as if you felt compelled to make amends, despite knowing you had not done any misdeeds. Was this feeling natural? Did he have some sort of powers to manipulate your emotions? You were not sure.
Though on his end, he was only devoid of any thoughts because he wanted to listen to your words. He wanted to listen, to understand them; to worship them until his very last days. He will gladly grovel at your feet, repeating your words to himself like a broken record. He wanted to absorb any essence of you that he could, even if it were just words. Loyal to a fault, he was willing to let you say anything, even if your words contradict your very existence. Just as long as you allow him to stay by your side.
You cleared your throat and looked away from him, a nervous chuckle escaping your lips. "Just because I do not believe Gods, does not mean you should as well," Like a plant reaching for the sun, Paimon slowly sits up straight. You could see the light returning to her eyes. She listened attentively, eager to hear the rest of your speech. "If you believe in Gods, that's alright! You are free to believe in whoever you please." You added on. With a deep sigh, you rolled back your shoulders. The relief you felt from expressing your true feelings was immense, as if a figurative weight was pushed off from your back.
Paimon springs up, floating around your figure as she giggles excitedly. "But Paimon believes in you! It's okay if Paimon does that, right?" You sighed. "I would rather not," She visibly deflated again. You immediately retracted your words, not wanting the little companion to fall further into any more confusion than necessary. In your eyes, she was too young for that. "Even if there were a religion after me, what would it even be called?" You asked her, an amused smile playing at your lips. You thought that you had gotten her stumped. A question that probably need a moment or two for her to ponder, just enough time for you to distract her. Just before she brings up the religion card agai-
"The Creator's Love."
Aether's answer caught you off guard. Paimon and Amber nodded enthusiastically, "Right!" You paused. How was one even supposed to react in a situation like this? It was such a specific yet complex situation. Was there even a way to get out of it?
You coughed into your hand. The utter speed of his answer alone made you feel almost dizzy. "That's uh.. Creative, simply put." You muttered. It sounds like a cult, you thought instinctively. "But even still, I can promise you that I'm not this 'Creator' you speak of," Aether shook his head. He appeared as crestfallen as Amber was moments ago. "It is you.. I know it is."
Your curious nature wanted you to probe at him a little more, to ask for more information about what he meant. How did he know if you were truly the 'Creator'? What if he was just mistaken? How would the 'real Creator' feel, seeing a follower of theirs blindly tell someone else that they were the deity?
You paused. Those were questions for another day. Even if you could ask him those questions, there were other questions. Some of which were much more important. Questions such as - Even if Aether and Paimon recognised you from the get-go (and even called you that unsettling title, Your Grace), were they aware of their positions in Teyvat? Were they aware that this entire world was nothing more than coding, numbers and design? Was everyone in Teyvat aware?
Just as you opened your mouth to respond, Paimon flew in-between you and Aether, effectively blocking each other from the other's view. "All of this talking is making Paimon veeery hungry!" She stretches her body whilst in the air, even adding in a yawn for a little flair. She smoothly slides up to Aether, a knowing smirk on her face. "Why don't we treat Their Grace to some food? Paimon thinks that they would love Sticky Honey Roast!"
"Please don't call me that," You said immediately after Paimon with a shake of your head. "Call you what, Your Grace?" Amber responds, only to be cut off by you. "-That. Just use my name, please." Your three companions gasp once again, both Paimon and Amber stuttering out excuses about how they could never do that.
You pointed a hand in their direction. Almost immediately, the two stopped talking. An effective tactic to get an audience to quieten down, something you learnt in your younger years as a school councillor. Your head was starting to pound again. All of this talk about believing or not believing in a faith had taken a number on your social battery. Before it depleted completely, you wanted to at least finish two tasks.
Task one: Get these three to address you by your name, not by that odd title. It felt unnatural and wrong.
You shifted your pointed hand into an open palm. Warm and inviting, it awaited to greet hands of others. You smiled for the second time ever since meeting them. "My name is (Y/N), it's a pleasure to meet you." The slime squeaks, almost as if attempting to pronounce your name as well. You smiled, bending down to give it a pat. What an adorable thing.
Amber squeaks and takes a small step backwards. "The Creator's real name.. To shake hands with Their Grace..." She mutters in a cycle. You could metaphorically see swirls in her eyes, going around and around. You grasped her by the shoulders, "Amber!"
She shook her head furiously, forcing herself out of her daze. "I'll go uh-" Her eyes darted around the surroundings with a panic, frantically searching for a way to leave the scene. She wanted to save herself from any more embarrassment. "I'll go ahead first! I'll make sure that there are no monsters in the area," She turned to run off, temporarily freezing in place when you said her name. "Please be safe." A light dusting of pink colours her cheeks. With a desperate attempt to save what was left of her dignity, she rushes down the path to the gates of Monstadt.
Paimon whistles, "Look at her go! This is the first time Paimon has seen her go that fast," She faced you with a cheeky smile. "Best not to keep Amber waiting for too long, let's go!" With a tug on your sleeve, you started your walk towards Good Hunter. Your gaze shifted over to the traveller, his quietness now a reminder of his empty stare.
"Aether.. You okay over there?" You called. Almost as easy as snapping a finger, the emptiness clears. He looks at you attentively, his curious expression making him look innocent. Almost as if he did not act like an empty shell moments ago. He nods, big golden eyes shining with earnest. "Yes, Your Grace. Thank you for being concerned about me-"
You held up a hand, "No, no. You know my name, Aether. Please use it." He freezes, startled at the reminder. He shook his head, disagreeing. "Your Grace, I simply could not. I am not worthy.." You frowned at his hesitancy. "Please, you're my first friend here. You deserve to use it." You whispered as you took his hand with your own to convince him.
He stares at his hand, his unworthy hand being touched by you. You, who he viewed with the utmost respect and admiration. You, who he never thought would ever physically be here, with him. With a reluctant nod, he finally utters your name. It was quiet, nothing above the volume of a mumble. Still, you heard it.
Task one: accomplished. Sort of.
Aether felt like the gates of Heaven had opened for him when he saw the smile that graced your features when he said your name. If this was truly how Heaven felt like, I would be okay with this being my final sight, He thought. Elated that he was the reason for your smile, he finds the courage to intertwine your fingers with his.
He notices the surprised look in your eyes at his move. He could hear the erratic thumping of his heart as he awaited for you to do something, anything! He awaited for you to turn upset. How disgusting of him to do; a lowly acolyte taking the hand of a God.
Yet, you did nothing. You let out a sigh of relief and moved forward, tugging him along with you to catch up to the floating companion and your slime. The pair got along easily, seeing that the slime even bounced up to give Paimon a figurative high-five.
Aether allowed himself to be guided and instead stared at the sight of both of your intertwined fingers. The sight of it alone was enough for adrenaline to start coursing through his body. He could feel your warmth seeping through his body, encasing his entire being in comfort. A type of comfort you could only receive from a special person.
That was what you were in Aether's eyes. You were special, God or not.
Task two: Find out how this entire 'Creator' dynamic had fit into your current circumstance.
"Do you mind if I ask you a few questions?" Aether tilted his head curiously at your question. "Go ahead, Your-" He paused upon seeing your narrowed stare. His heart begins to hammer in panic, would this be the reason for his death? That he had disgraced The Creator, by simply not following their wishes? He gulped, forcing himself to fix his mistake. "-(Y/N)." You smiled once more. He lets out a sigh of relief.
"You mentioned earlier that you were sure that 'it' was me," You started. He nods. "How are you so sure?" He pressed his lips in a thin line. He hummed, "I don't really know how to explain it.. But, I felt this presence with me ever since I had accidentally fished Paimon out from the sea," You felt the corners of your lips upturn at the mention of how the duo met.
"This presence.. It was warm and comforting, almost like a hug. Then, I realised that I was not entirely in control of my body. Conscious yes, but my hands would move forward to attack or dodge, even when I was not trying to do so. I figured it was the doing of this presence,"
You bit your lip as you listened to him, connecting the dots yourself. It seemed that Aether was not aware that he was in a game. At least that was what it was, in your world. A world that you may never return to. Yet he was aware of you. He knew you were pushing and pulling him around Mondstadt.
"I wanted to be upset at first, how could someone play with my body like a toy? Constantly running headfirst into danger, facing those Hilichurls even when all I had was a measly Dull Blade," He summoned his current sword, a Prototype Rancour. You internally grimaced, suddenly feeling guilt for not giving him a better weapon. You only had that sword crafted due to a quest and gave it to him only because you thought it suited his colour scheme. If only I was not dumped into a game, I would have switched the sword, You thought bitterly.
"I realised the presence was trying to help me, not harm me. This sword was the first gift they had given me," Aether held the sword gently, his eyes shining in adoration. "They healed my scratches and cuts from fighting, and led me to meet many great people. Then they started helping me get stronger; I was eventually able to take out entire Hilichurl camps." You smiled lightly at his words. You remembered the day that you had defeated not one, but three full Hilichurl camps without even getting a single scratch on him. It was notably, one of your favourite moments as a player.
"Occasionally, the presence would play pranks on me. I still remember the confusion I felt when I saw another person that looked exactly like me. Sometimes there would even be four of me in total, then they would switch into people I had never met before.." He said grimly. You had to stifle a laugh at the mention of more Aethers. There was once a session where you and your three friends ran around Mondstadt, all playing as him. Ah, so this was what the in-use acolyte saw when you were in Co-Op mode.
He frowned. "Sometimes, the presence would disappear. I had grown used to their presence, even going so far to say that I felt.. Empty, without them around." He stopped in his tracks, prompting you follow suit. His sword disappears from view, presumably back into storage. Would it be bad to feel guilt over this? You had never been an avid player from the very beginning. To find out that your characters knew when you were not active and that they were upset over your absence, broke your heart. It was not like you had intended to leave them like that. Finding time to play was hard enough as it is, especially since you were just a mere college student.
Were. Not anymore, considering you are stuck in another world.
Holding both of your hands as gently as he could, a thumb running over the ring that sat on your index finger again. "When I heard you call my name for the first time, that sensation came back. It was stronger than ever, engulfing all of my sensations in warmth. All I knew in that moment, was warmth."
"That's how I knew it was you; You were the presence the entire time. I never thought that I would be given the opportunity to ever meet you." You could finally see it now, all the adoration and respect he held for you as he uttered his words. "And so I thank you, for being there. I would have never gotten as far as I have without you," Please forgive me for being selfish; allow me to indulge myself just this once, He thought before leaning down to press his lips to your knuckles.
"You don't have to thank me, you know." You said sheepishly, evidently flustered. Who knew that the traveller could be so smooth with words? Had Kaeya taught him? Aether shook his head, a light chuckle leaving him. "It was not only me that wanted to thank you," He released one of your hands, still keeping the other intertwined with his. He began walking again, gently pulling you with him to move forward.
"When I found out that Amber, Kaeya and Lisa also felt your presence, I had realised that you must have been a sort of deity. What type of deity would be able to make people stronger as easily as lifting a finger?" You furrowed your eyebrows, confusion setting in. His story was starting to deviate from the story you knew. Was this where 'The Creator' aspect came in?
"Lisa showed me an ancient scroll. It was extremely detailed; explaining about the legend of The Creator and how they created Teyvat with their bare hands. But thousands of years ago, they had fallen into a slumber. Still, their people had never forgotten them." You raised an eyebrow at the story. While you were aware that Teyvat had its many myths and legends, you had never heard one regarding the roots of the world itself. It was intriguing, to say the least. The game's lore had never been a priority for you; You had not even finished the Archon quest for Mondstadt! You had only downloaded the game to play with your friends.
"The prophecy said that when The Creator awakens, they will be nothing but a spirit, their physical body was long gone. It was said that a selected few people will be chosen as vessels - That the vessels will be taken care of by The Creator, and that they will be given strength to protect and lead Teyvat for the years to come."
As charming as the story was, the prospect of you being a God, the very thing you did not believe in, had messed with your head. Especially since this was a fictional world. How could you be a God to a fictional world? You felt that you did not deserve all this praise, all this credit that Aether was giving you for. You were simply following instructions from the game, for Archons' sake!
"So.. You started a cult?" You asked. Aether gasped and shook his head rapidly. "A cult?! No! There were already many organisations worshipping The Creator beforehand. They simply joined forces and with the support of the chosen vessels like myself, the word had spread that The Creator had awoken."
"And how are you so sure that this 'Creator'.. Is me?"
He runs his thumb over the ring you wore. "The legend said that The Creator only wore a single piece of jewellery - A simple line of silver, wrapped around their finger. The two ends of the silver would just barely touch, to signify that Teyvat was ever-growing."
You fought the urge to roll your eyes. It was starting to get ridiculous. Yes, it was true that you wore only that silver ring. But unlike the legend, you only bought it because it an adjustable ring, as well as that it was on sale. You just wanted to treat yourself due to having a particularly hard week beforehand. How was a game even able to twist a part of your life into an entire legend that people worshipped?
Hand still intertwined with his, you and Aether fell into silence.
Task two: Also somewhat accomplished, but it left you with more questions than you had begun with.
"Here we are!" Paimon exclaimed excitedly, whizzing forward to the gates of Mondstadt. The rest of your walk to the gates was a smooth one, albeit a little awkward from your conversation with Aether. Amber had done her job well, considering you did notice a stray Hilichurl mask on the ground, laid in the centre of some burnt grass during your walk. If you had stared at it longer, you would have realised that it appeared like an offering of sorts. You guessed that she had even gone as far to clear out an entire Hilichurl camp.
The guards greeted your companions and barely gave you a second glance. However, they eyed the Hydro slime with a wary look, their hands already at the hilt of their sword. Paimon yelped, defending the slime. "No, no! Paimon promises that it is a friend," The slime chirps, jumping in place to reaffirm her words. Aether showed the guards his sword, a silent announcement that he would be the one to take care of the slime, should it cause hurt to the people of Mondstadt.
Cheerfully, Paimon glides over to Good Hunter after the guards had retreated. The Hydro slime follows after her once more, bouncing happily up the steps. It caught the stares of the many residents of Mondstadt, whispers ensuing. Yet the slime remained unaware, its only priority was to follow the travelling companion around.
"Amber!" Said outrider grins when she catches sight of the incoming party. "Just in time! The Sticky Honey Roast just arrived," Paimon gasps, eyeing the food with sparkles in her eyes. "Paimon is so hungry!"
The dish itself looked marvellous. The honey sauce caused the meat to shine like a medal, looking as if it was supposed to be admired instead of eaten. Would Gordon Ramsey be impressed with this? You thought to yourself with a chuckle. Ever the gentleman, Aether pulled out a seat and allows you to settle in first before sitting down himself. The slime sat at your feet, rubbing itself at your legs like an affectionate cat.
Just as you were going to take a slice of the meat, a voice caused you to freeze.
"Care to explain why any of you thought that it would be a good idea to bring a Hydro slime into the city?"
A/N:
welcome back for INAGWAI part 2! i hope everyone is enjoying the story so far~ i was not planning to make INAGWAI (somewhat) Aether-centric but it just happened. however, it kind of makes sense because he is the first person we meet in GI! and also because i'll forever be an Aether simp (i love you, my yellow haired bastard <3)
do suggest names for the Hydro slime, it will be given an official name in part 3!

I absolutely loved your mute!Aether !! It got me thinking about how would he be in a relationship? Like just general relationship head canons?
Tumblr media
Synopsis: mute! Aether relationship headcanons (some are just general relationship headcanons :))
Warnings: not proofread
Game/ fandom: genshin impact
Character: aether
Pronouns for reader: gender neutral/ not mentioned
A/n: hello! I’m glad you enjoy my take on mute! Aether! I genuinely love writing for him, which is strange because for a while I thought that the traveler was a bland character, but I weirdly love writing for aether???? (I haven’t written for lumine yet so… I’m not sure if I’d actually enjoy writing for her ¯\_(ツ)_/¯) but anyway! Hope you enjoy!
Tumblr media
Aether I feel would he rather clingy in a relationship, and he especially relies on conveying his love through physical affections, and actions.
You’d definitely have to do most of the talking in the relationship since not many people in teyvat know sign language, so at restaurants, grocery store, and so on, you’d do the talking. He definitely appreciates it and will give you a ton of kisses as a thank you :)
I think when he’s upset he just wouldn’t sign anything, just frantically wave his arms around. I think he’s a very emotional person honestly, so when he’s upset he’s u p s e t so trying to understand what he’s saying is a bit difficult. But, thankfully you can calm him down fairly easily.
If you don’t know sign language when you meet he definitely is going to have some trouble communicating with you, but thankfully you find someone to teach you :)
Aether has a strange fondness for when you put flowers in his hair, I just had to say it. I think lumine would braid his hair for him, and put flowers in it so they would match, and now his s/o does the same thing!
Aether has absolutely mastered communicating through body language, and facial expressions, and that plays into when he’s jealous or just wants your attention. He’ll make it obvious something is up, and that he does not like it.
You probably have signals for when you see or hear something while traveling. Aether is literally being hunted down by the fatui, I would be astonished if you didn’t have some kind of signal that let the other person know When you saw/ heard a fatui agent.
Keeps his eye on you at all times. He will not lose someone else he loves, and especially since you have gone through so much effort to help him find his sister. He genuinely cares.
Probably have matching bracelets, that rest on your dominant hand. I’m not sure why but I think aether is really into that kind of thing.
Most definitely makes extra time to go to all the festivals across teyvat, and at said festivals aether absolutely spoils you. He makes sure you have an amazing time.
Speaking of spoiling you, he definitely gets you a fair amount of gifts to show he loves you, but their smaller things because you both can only carry so much on your travels, like the bracelets I talked about! They’re small, but they mean a lot.

ੈ˚☆ love letters written by genshin characters.
fandom: genshin impact.
characters: kaeya, thoma, kazuha, scaramouche, aether.
reader: gn!
genre: headcanons.
content: fluff, mention of alcohol.
word count: ~130 each // 700 total
 ੈ♡˳────── enjoy the reading <3 ──────
˚ʚ kaeya.
kaeya's love letters were recited in the nights warmed by the alcohol, poems improvised by the magic of the moment, always adorned by the heat of the liquid that flowed as freely inside him as the love he felt for you.
words of endearment blossomed in Kaeya's heart, adorning his sweet words with confessions he hid from everyone; when Kaeya's poems were recited, all the stars heard his love, the moon holding Kaeya's most vulnerable secrets to herself, the most beautiful words and promises losing their charm when heard by you.
for whatever came out of Kaeya's mouth, however magical and eternal, was said in the language of the hilichurls, making you oblivious to his true feelings for you.
 ੈ♡˳─────────────────────
˚ʚ thoma.
when everything felt heavier, when the world seemed grayer, Thoma would hold you in his arms for long eternities, letting his lips sing the most personal melodies created by the most beautiful souls.
Thoma might not know how to comfort you in the toughest of times, but he knew that his love letters, written by the creative bards who inhabited the land, always brought a little comfort to your existence.
and you didn't know if it was the tight hug, the caresses he always gave you, or the way his sweet voice melodiously uttered words of eternal love and promises that would last beyond time, but the reality is that Thoma's love letters always brought with them the ray of sunshine you needed in the darkest moments of your existence.
 ੈ♡˳─────────────────────
˚ʚ kazuha.
Kazuha wrote long and detailed love letters under the most beautiful moon of the month; blessed by the magic of moonlight and the enchantment of the stars, Kazuha allowed his thoughts to flow as freely as the very nature that surrounded him, creating love poems that extended beyond the small sheets of paper.
Kazuha's whole soul adorned the various scrolls he hid in his robes, so many confessions and sentiments seeming too important and intimate to be shared with curious souls who could not understand the beauty of poetry; but you were not a curious soul.
you were capable of being the only one who understood the simplicity of poetry, since you yourself were an art long created by the gods; as such, every month, before the sky appeared dark without its moon, Kazuha would hand you several used sheets in delicate handwriting, always hoping that his words on the paper would make up for the lack of courage he had to recite them to you.
 ੈ♡˳─────────────────────
˚ʚ scaramouche.
Scaramouche found it difficult to express himself, all the words and actions that left him most vulnerable to seem unnecessary to him.
so Scaramouche rarely allowed himself to be shown how much you meant to him; however, there were those more intimate moments, where not even the moon knew of your conversations, where Scaramouche laid his head on your shoulder while listening to the beauty of nature.
his hand held yours, tender little caresses to be left on your skin as proof of his love for you, those love letters dissolving from the moment he walked away from you. but, for brief moments that would forever be frozen in time, Scaramouche loved you - and he declared himself to you through the smallest and most tender love letters drawn by him.
 ੈ♡˳─────────────────────
˚ʚ aether.
Aether was not afraid to love you. holding your face carefully, kissing your forehead lovingly, whispering so many "I love you's" in your ear, Aether wasn't afraid to declare the love he felt for you.
every day new love letters were created with the knowledge that that feeling, shared by both of you, would last a lifetime, traveling through eternities and universes, always finding the way to come back together.
for Aether believed that your souls once shared the same star and, as such, it was only natural for him to declaim so many and so derived love letters to you, every day to be gifted with the natural affection of those who love their soulmate.
 ੈ♡˳───── feedback is appreciated <3 ─────

part two
THOSE WHO WOULD SHED A SINGLE TEAR
     DILUC
After losing his father and his horrible fall out with Kaeya, Diluc has become a firm believer that a man can truly live as an island, to some extent. As much as possible, he kept to himself and worked alone. Having people share his burdens with him did not appeal to him. In fact, it miffed him, as it made him feel indebted to them.
He limited his interaction with everyone, especially those who are part of the Knights of Favonius, favoring solitude above else. But of course, this did not entail bad social ethics to others.
He treated his maids and employees with civility and respect, the same can be said with his patrons whenever he worked behind the counter (it would certainly be bad for his business if he behaved aloof to them) and those he was once close friends with. He always behaved appropriately to them, although he must admit he can be quite insulting to the Knight, he always stood behind an invisible barrier, careful not to cross it and grow attached to anyone.
He has long given up with amorous relationships. After all, what good would he be as a lover if he could not provide his woman the love and care she deserved? Surely, he cannot let a maiden suffer with his inadequacy as a potential husband. He is aware of how hectic his schedule is (he hardly has enough time for himself so spending time with his lover would be proven difficult) and how poorly he expresses his feelings, thoughts, and emotions. In a relationship, in marriage, communication is the key for it to be successful, and already then, he has failed. He may be a cold man at first glance, but he will not put a woman in s distressing dilemma, not intentionally anyway.
Being the richest man in Mondstadt and being considered attractive by many, Diluc was not foreign to having women throw themselves at him, attempting to seduce him. If maintaining a relationship with a woman with his current tribulations was hard, finding a woman who truly love and understand him was even harder. He has no means of deciphering who were pure with their intentions and those who sought him for his money and influence.
And he accepted his fate without easily, without question. This was the way it was supposed to be in the first place. Diluc Ragnvindr - a lone man, who lived in too big mansion, sleeping on a bed too big for him. It was all he knew. The bright days of his childhood long forgotten.
But then you came to his life so suddenly.
"Master Diluc," Began Jean, a polite smile over her lips. "This is ( Your Name )".
All it took was for you to give him shy smile to have his walls broken down, and for his heart to yearn for what he has resolutely denied himself of for years. And it twisted him, and not in a way he welcomed.
Diluc tried so damn hard to push you away. He avoided your presence, and made it his point to show you he wanted nothing to do with you, and made no attempt to cover it and ignored how his heart broke every time your smile fell. He resolutely refused to yield to your sincere advances.
He treated you the same way be treated everyone, to show you how you were no different from everyone. You were just another dot in his life waiting to be erased and thrown in the back of his mind.
But the harder he pushed, the harder you pulled. In his brightest days and in his darkest days, you have never strayed far and welcomed him with open arms. You always went out of your way for him.
It was hard not to fall in love with you? Why did you have to make things so difficult?
It wasn't too long until he was falling asleep in his bed with you in his embrace, his heart feeling light, warm and content. He hasn't feel like this in a long time - safe, and at home. Diluc found home from someone he tried to push away.
The horror of what could have happened if he had been successful weighed down on him, and it took quite an assurance from you to make him remember that he has failed, and you were his, as he was yours.
Back then, he thought your persistence was bothersome. But as he stood at the altar right now, watching you enter with your white wedding dress, he was grateful you never gave up on him.
Diluc cannot describe how beautiful you looked as you graced everyone in the place with your presence.
Your eyes locked with him, and his heart soared in his chest. And when you smiled at him, an excited gleam in your eyes - he cannot help but smile back.
Time cannot be any slower, and the aisle cannot be any longer. And have you always walked this slow? Or were you just teasing him?
Diluc's breath hitched - Perhaps you knew how much he wanted to get this over with so he can have you all to himself in the comfort of his room.
And when he saw you smiling mischievously at him, he knew that he was right.
His words failed to describe how beautiful you looked. His words failed the joy he was feeling. May Barbatos have mercy on him
But the tear that escaped the corner of his eye explained everything.
"Oh, what is this?" His best man whispered beside him, a teasing tone lacing his voice. "Master Diluc is crying. Why, I never thought I'd see the day."
Diluc shot him a glare. "Do not make me regret making you my best man, Kaeya."
Kaeya laughed. "Ah, ah, ah," He chimed. "Your wife won't be pleased if we fight at your wedding day."
A warm and pleasant feeling coursed through him. His wife.
"She's not my wife yet." Said Diluc.
Kaeya looked at you as you walked down the aisle. "And in just a few minutes, I'll have two Ragnvindr to annoy." He patted his brother on the back, smiling a genuine smile for the first time. "Congratulations, Diluc."
     ZHONGLI
Zhongli, or Rex Lapis for that time, has watched over Teyvat for thousands of years and has witnessed firsthand how kings and tyrants rose and fell, how kingdoms were born, how camaraderie are conducted, how romance makes a man foolish and blinded, how society flourished in the hands of mortals as Archons guarded them from their resting place, and throughout the tales of humans, his eyes has laid upon many beauties.
But you? Oh, even the most esteemed bard of all realms could never bring the satisfactory glory to your name and pulchritude.
How dearly Zhongli missed the unspeakable power, money and authority he had back before he revoked his own position as a deity, keeping a close eye over Liyue and his people. But if ever presented with the opportunity to return to his rightful place as part of the Seven, he shall graciously decline, casting his gaze away and simply returning to your side.
After all, what benefit would he gain from it when he already has his heart is content in the possession of a mere mortal, a mortal he loved and adored. He would dream of ever choosing his old power over you, and that can be affirmed when he asked for your hand as the two of you took an evening stroll outside Liyue.
He has fallen for you and he cannot rise again. A gentle and kind woman with an understanding and patience which knows no bounds. If not for his revelation that he has accomplished all his duties and has come to decide to resign from his reign, your existence may be another reason for him to take the form or a mortal and ask for your hand.
He can still recall that faithful day when he first met you at the harbor. He stood by a high balcony, overlooking Liyue Harbor with arms crossed. The sun beat down against Liyue grounds and his skin, but it also casted an ethereal glow on you as you exited one of the ships that stopoed at the docks. And may he boldly say the sun was outshined that day, and his heart has been taken.
Zhongli can only imagine how many men has chased after you, but failed to woo you.
Zhongli understood the concept of love. After all, Liyue and every living being that sought shelter in its walls were close to his heart, but never in his life has he felt the way he felt for you. It was the sort of phenomena he observed between lovers for centuries - unconditional love and care, a sanctuary in the arms of their beloved, an individual to trust and come home to whether the day has been kind or unkind.
What he thought were trivial matters and the means of mortals for survival he has tasted its sweet flavor, and it was by your hand did he receive it. And he was thankful that you have found him worthy of being with you, and soon, being one with him in the contract of marriage.
And thus came the faithful day, the very day he longed to come ever since you have accepted him as your husband to be, and the day you have dreamt of every night you laid with him.
Zhongli counted the months, weeks, days, and if he had the ability to, minutes until the day of your wedding. He has a calendar in his room and everyday, he enthusiastically crossed out every passing day, watching as his wedding with you grow closer.
And when it finally arrived, Zhongli followed a meticulous routine to prepare himself, using expensive oils and perfume to which the Fatui money has provided splendidly. After all, he wanted to look the best he can for you. You deserved only the best of things, and he shall not hold back on anything to please you.
Though Zhongli, most of the time, was a calm man even under the eye of tribulations, when he stood at the altar in front of his close friends and colleagues, he can't help but feel anxious.
Of course he has no doubt in your love for him. He holds on your every word of love and affection as true, and his love for you was as hard as stone. Rather, it was he who doubted himself and his capabilities.
He wondered if he would be able to take care of you, love you the way you should be, bring a smile to your lips, and a laugh out of your mouth. If he had been Rex Lapis still, he would have easily uphold his duties as your husband. After all, what can an Archon not do?
It would be Childe, his best man, who would console him. He would tell Zhongli he is more than capable to care for you. He has a stable job (not to mention his connection with the Fatui), he was eager to please you and give you about everything if he can, he has a kind heart, he was a man who can manage his time wisely and never choose his profession over you, and above all, he loved you. Not many men can afford the luxury of being this perfect, but Zhongli was no man, not originally at least.
He will be unconvinced of what Childe has said. This unease in him was hard to diminish. Not being enough for you will tear him apart. The thought of it just gnawed at him. Will he make you happy? Will you regret marrying him when you realized life married to him wasn't as you expected?
It was only when the doors opened, and his wide and anticipative eyes darted over to the other end of the place did every little doubt in his mind is erased.
You stood by the entrance wearing the white dress you have fought hard not to show him until this day.
That bright smile on your face, those eyes that shimmered at the sight of him, the faint red on your cheeks - Zhongli did not even notice how love stricken he looked, and nor did he notice a tear cascade from corner of eye.
It was only when Childe stifled a laugh and pointed it out did he feel the dampness at the side of his face.
He forgot how to breathe when you finally stood before him. Even a veil cannot conceal your beauty.
With twinkling eyes, you smiled at him - like he was the only person in the room.
"Are you crying?" You ask playfully.
Zhongli will let out a chuckle, and as he take your hands in his, he said, "In such a beautiful day like this with the loveliest lady in Teyvat before me, how can I not?"
Indeed it was a beautiful day, made better when your lips met his.
He can't stop a few more tears from slipping.
THOSE WHO WOULD BAWL THEIR EYES OUT
     CHILDE/TARTAGLIA
Childe understood his duties as a Harbinger even if his playful and flirtatious facade may say otherwise. He kissed hands of women and paid them golden compliments until their mind went hazy with his feigned affection, but he was still a Fatui at the end of the day - a ruthless and greedy scoundrel who had too much Mora in his hands.
And it was because of his line of work that he decided never to commit himself. If he was to find himself infatuated with a woman and she reciprocated his feelings and desired to pursue a relationship with him, it would inevitably drag her to the dangers entailed to his position.
The last thing he wanted was someone to dear to him to be harmed, not to mention his lover could become his weakness, she could be taken by his enemies and be used against him, thus, making things more complicated and harder for him to fulfill his duties to the Tsaritsa.
To him, nothing is more important than seeing through his mission with the finest quality of work he can give.
So damn you for coming into his life and distracting him. Damn you for bringing another bright to his life. Damn you for taking care of his family when he was gone. Just - damn you for making him fall for you.
He hated this - the feeling of being weak, of being vulnerable, of laying his guard down. One touch from you and he's no better than the people he despised for being so frail and powerless.
How ever do you possess this prowess to make him so dependent on you, to relish in your voice when you sing to him as the two of you laid together in his bed, how he let his defenses crumble when you whisper his name, the tug of his heart when you he sees you getting along so well with his family.
Childe wanted you. He wanted you more than anything and anyone in Teyvat. He was going crazy thinking about you.
He refused to acknowledge his feelings at first, thinking perhaps he can use you to comfort him and his family in these troubling times. That's all you were supposed to be, a tool for him to make his family feel better whenever he goes off to accomplish his work as a Harbinger.
But he couldn't stomach the thought of using you like that. He didn't want you to treat like a toy. And it did not help that one day, when he was returning from a mission, you come rushing to him and blurting out your feelings and your worry for his safety.
You loved him. Did he hear you right? You love a Fatui, and a Harbinger, no less. Surely, you aren't that stupid to fall for him.
And yet he smiled a sincere smile at your confession, and he too followed your steps. That night, he was at his weakest. Just relishing in your arms and ridding all the responsibilities over his shoulders. He can forget all his faults for a moment, with you. A peace of mind and heart was found in you.
Childe watched as you played with his fingers, and then he spoke. “Aren’t you afraid?”
       You hummed. “Afraid? Of what?”
Childe shook his head and held your hand which toyed with his digits. You looked up at him, puzzled.
“Of me.” Said Childe, pulling your hand and holding it close to his chest. He closed his eyes, almost terrified of what your answer can be. “Of what I can bring to your life. I’m a Harbinger, [ Your Name ]. Your life is at stake just being with me. Do you know what you’re in for for loving me?”
You gazed at him, and he can’t see anything in your eyes. He let out a small gasp when you leaned in and kissed his cheek.
“I’m not afraid of you or anything this world can throw at me.” You confessed. “You’re going to protect me, Tartaglia. I know you will. I trust you. I love you.”
And fucking hell, did he protect you.
He tried to hide you from his fellow Harbingers, and especially to his enemies. Not because they will use you to get the upper hand against him, a leverage. No, he wanted to hide you, as long as he can anyway (because it won't be long until his secret is out, walls do have ears), to protect you. No one will lay a hand or even get a single strand of your hair. May the Archons have mercy on anyone who dares put you in the middle of the dangers of his job, because he surely won't.
Because of this, you and Childe decided to get married in secret, with no one else but Zhongli, the traveler, and their floating companion to be your witnesses in becoming one. The two of you knew well of the consequences your decision shall birth, but it's the one you're making. Nothing in this can stop Childe from making you his wife, and treating you as such.
Childe could not wait for the ceremony to begin. Even with such a small crowd - very small indeed - he did not hold back to make this day special for you. The finest of everything is what you deserved, and if he could give more, he would. But for now, all he can give you is himself, and he dearly wished he was enough.
The whole time, as he waited for you to emerge from the doors of the small cathedral the two of you chose to be wed in, he kept imagining how his life would be like with you.
Waking up beside you was the thing he looked forward to the most. When the sunrays peeked from closed curtains and cascaded down your slumbering form, a gentle and even breaths leaving your lips, a soft expression of rest - the thought of it filled his heart with warmth, a kind of warmth only you can evoke from him.
Waking up at your side on his bed always reminded him thst you were indeed there, and his. Soon, he'll be waking up beside you with a soft smile on his lips, a reminder that you were there, but now as his wife.
Childe never really considered him emotional. It was part of his discipline as a Harbinger never to let his emotions get the better of him. But when you stepped into the cathedral wearing the wedding dress you personally chose and had hidden from him for so long, a veil over your face but the soft smile still just as bright as the morning sun, it all came crashing down to him.
Childe wanted a lot of things in life. But what he wanted the most was to spend the rest of his life with you - providing for you, protecting you, comforting you, falling deeper in love with your every single day. All this he will do until his dying breath, and he knew you'd do the same.
His dream was walking towards him, never taking her eye off him as she approached the altar.
He can hear Paimon clapping and the Traveler reprimanding her for being a little too loud. He can hear Zhongli saying something to him but he couldn't understand a word he said. But he was too lost in his realization that you're going to marry him.
You chose him, a man with too many faults and imperfections.
Just as you arrived at the small steps leading towards the altar, the tears Childe has been trying to hold back streamed down his face, small hiccups escaping his lips.
You stared at him, worried. "Tartaglia, are you alright?"
Childe would try to formulate an answer but through his tears and hiccups, he couldn't make a single comprehensible word. His posture was regal and proper, as though he was trying to fool everyone that he wasn't crying.
How can you ask if he was alright? How can his heart handle how beautiful you looked right now?
"Excuse me, ( Your Name )," Zhongli interjected as he stepped beside Childe. "It seems that your soon to be husband needs a moment to collect himself. Please, excuse us."
Zhongli led Childe back to his room, and the Harbinger did not fight back. He was still crying even when the doors has closed behind him. Zhongli stood by the door, watching the Fatui sit on his bed, trying to stop himself from bawling.
Childe can feel guilt crawling up to him as he realized what he had done. What was supposed to the most perfect day, your most perfect day, was ruined because of him.
He was scared to think what you thought of him now. Were you resenting him for what happened? Did you still wish to marry him?
If only he had controlled his emotions much better. He shouldn't have let his joy break through him in tears.
"She was crying too, you know," Spoke Zhongli.
Childe raised his head to look at the former Archon. "Huh?"
"Your bride, she - " He smiled at him. " - she was crying too. She's happy to be marrying you."
Childe can feel his heart hammering against his chest in delight at what he said.
"So don't keep her waiting."
Childe bawled his eyes out once more when the words - "I do," - left your lips.
     AETHER
When his sister was taken from him, Aether was a lost and wandering soul in Teyvat with the sole purpose of finding her.
Throughout his journey, he met different people from different regions. He learned their values and cultures, he grew to love the world he used to be a stranger to, he was able to utilize different sorts of Visions, and yet, despite all of this, Aether was lonely. Paimon - bless her pure soul - tried her best to keep his spirits and bring a smile to his face (he assumed she too felt the hollowness inside of him) but it was all futile as he often find himself seeking solitude and gazing out in an open field wondering where his twin could be and how she was fairing on her own.
He will let the cool breeze comfort him, but all it left was a searing kiss of reality that his search might have been all for naught. That very concept his mind was conjured haunted him in his every waking days. Is he still journeying through Teyvat and reaching out to all Archons with a solid purpose? Was he no wasting his time looking high and low for someone who could not be looking at the sky as he?
                     "And what if she is?"
Your words is what got his attention. Aether met you in the evening when the stars and the moon was absent from the skies. He sat on a fallen log overlooking the city of Mondstadt, alone and cold. Paimon has insisted in him accompanying him, but he had snuck away before she can chase after him. He needed to be alone with his thoughts, and with the scarce time he has for himself, he has to make the most of every night that comes.
Lumine was in his mind, and worry was gnashing its teeth at him. He was deep in his own world, sinking to the hands of his tragic thoughts, that he did not hear footsteps trekking the hillock he was at. Nor did he realize he was speaking his own worries in the air, eyes distant and staring blankly at nothing.
"What if she's not even looking for me?" That's what he remembered saying that time.
Then you made your presence known with an answer that refuted his initial thought. He whirled his head to the side, wide eyes with surprise. You stood next to him with a faint smile, hands behind your back and the moon slowly peeking from the shroud of clouds. A light in the darkness, the moon was. And so you were you to him.
"Sorry," You apologized, sheepishly giving him a smile as you rubbed the back of your neck. "I didn't mean to interrupt. You were speaking out loud and-and I just had a feeling I needed to say something." You took in a deep breath, and Aether found the pink dusting your cheeks adorable. "I . . . I'll just go now - "
Aether didn't regret asking you to stay.
Before you came to his life, Aether did not know how much he was dwelling in the own hell he made. His inner tribulations, his worries, his insecurities - he only took notice the torture he was putting on himself when you keep saving him from his own mind.
At first, all he thought of you was a precious friend - someone he leaned on and entrusted with everything, whether it be secrets or help with his quests. He told you about his past, his twin, how exactly he was different from the people of Teyvat, how he and sister fought an unknown god, how she slipped from his fingers when he reached out for her, how much he wanted her back. He was terrified of what you may think of him when he told you these things, but to his surprise, all you did was wrap him in your arms and comforted him.
Along with Paimon, you were his dearest friend.
But as time passed, the longer you accompany him and Paimon in his travels, he noticed something strange. The way his heart skipped a beat when you smile at him, how he can't keep his eyes off you when you laugh at one of his tales, how his heart hammered ceaselessly when you press a chaste kiss on his cheek, the relief that seeps in his system when he sees you unscathed from a battle, how irritated he becomes when someone makes an offense against you, the joy that seizes him when he listens to you talking about something you loved, and how much he adored it when you scold him for being a little too reckless in fighting.
Aether, despite being older than he seems, did not know what to make of what he was feeling. It was strange, a good kind of strange - the kind of feeling that makes him feel like he was floating in the sky. All he thought of it was an overwhelming adoration for a friend. Nothing more, nothing less.
It wasn't until Paimon pointed it out did he realize what he was feeling for you.
Upon learning his feelings for you, Aether couldn't sleep for many nights. He was plagued with the desires of his heart and his insecurities. It was like falling back to the same hellish pattern before you came along.
He was in this world for one reason only - to find his twin. And when he does - and he fucking will - he will depart from here with her and continue their travels. Leaving you was the last thing he wanted. He couldn't bear the thought of it. It felt like leaving a piece of him behind in Teyvat, a hole in the shape of your name.
The solution he had for this is directly confessing to you. Of course, the blond was a nervous wreck when he approached you and asked for a moment of your time. Paimon knew of his plan and wandered away for the time being, wanting to give the two of your privacy.
If you did not share the same feelings as he, he can already imagine the pain he will have to deal with, but it'll be much easier to leave. At least then he knows you won't be as hurt as he thought once he takes his leave. He never entertained the idea of you reciprocating his feelings. It would be foolish to - surely you can't find anything appealing with someone like him ; to which you rendered him speechless and a bumbling mess when you pressed your lips against his when he was in the middle of his confession.
Aether shouldn't be this happy with you. He loved you too much to see you hurt when he tells you that he must leave. He was not welcome in this world, he was an outsider, a being not under the authority or influence of any Archons.
But still, he spent months loving you, caring for you, doing anything to come back to you no matter what is thrown at him. He loved having you in his arms when you slept, he loved watching the stars with you at night, he loved you even with the inevitable arguments you two have - Aether was utterly and hopeless in love with you.
And thus, he decided to tell you what will happen after he finds his sister.
He knew he would be heart broken in seeing you cry, but it hurt more to see you smile at to him so genuinely and embraced him, saying, "You used to doubt you'll ever find your sister. It broke my heart everyday seeing you so hopeless, and I - " You composed yourself, shaking your head as your tried to gather your thoughts. " - now look at you," You cupped his cheek, the corners of your eyes wrinkling as your smile broadened. "I always knew the day will come when you have to leave me. When you told me you weren't from this world, I knew then I'll have to let go of you someday. But until that day comes - Aether - "
What a shock it came to him when you got down on one knee and presented to him a glittering ring - there was unconditional love and hope in your eyes. It was like looking back at his reflection. "Marry me, Aether, let me make you happy for the rest of the days we still have remaining until you leave."
Aether can never say no to you.
To his surprise, Master Diluc has already agreed to host your wedding at Dawn Winery. Aether was puzzled as to why he seemed unsurprised by the news of his engagement with you, and the Claymore wielding male answered, "( Your Name ) came to me for help when she planned to propose to you."
Aether knew Diluc, as much as possible, wanted to be alone. A lone wolf, he was. But with gratitude for what he has done, he asked him to be his best man. Diluc was startled by this requests but obliged. The red head might not show it but he was immensely flattered by Aether asking him to be his best now (and now time to subtly show it off to Kaeya).
At the day of the wedding, contrary to what he thought he would feel, Aether woke up with his an ache in his chest. He found himself looking out the window of his room, torn between his happiness and sorrow.
In a few hours, Aether will be able to adorn a ring on your finger, symbolizing your promises with one another. He shall be granted the sole blessing of calling your his wife. It was something he was looking forward to - seeing you in your wedding dress, watching as you walk down the aisle -
But Aether's mind kept drifting back to his sister - She would have wanted to be here. He thought.
Aether felt like he was committing a crime when he decided to take a walk just hours before his wedding. But he needed to clear his mind. Lumine never left his mind. He always thought that they would always be there for one another, or at least in big moments like this.
And yet she was still nowhere to be seen.
Is she still alive? Have I been wasting time? Is she still in danger? Is she lost in Teyvat as well?
"Didn't expect to run into you here."
His body tensed when he heard your voice, and he twirled around only to have his breath taken away.
You stood before him in the white dress he had longed to see ever since you proposed to him. He thought he would see a frown on your face, dismayed for his impromptu walk, but you wore a soft smile - a soft and understanding smile.
Aether did know what to say to you. He just stared at you, overwhelmed.
He opened his mouth to speak but he couldn't say anything. His shoulders slumped, and he sighed.
You approached him and kissed his cheek. He hummed in delight, eyes closing. "I hope you're not having second thoughts on marrying me." You told him.
Aether was quick to respond. He took your hand in his and kissed your knuckles. He looked into your eyes with affirming hues, "There is nothing I'm more sure of than marrying you."
You beamed at him. Seeing your face brighten up is always a beautiful sight for Aether, and it was enough for him to feel enlightened in the midst of his internal crisis.
"Do you want to talk about it?"
Of course you can already tell something is bothering him. Aether shook his head. He has already ruined a small part of what is supposed to be a perfect day, he can't risk another mistake.
"I'm not going to push you to tell me anything." You stated.
Aether smiled. "Thank you." He replied. He gazed at you for a little while, taking you in. "Why are you out here anyway? And in your wedding dress too."
Your eyes widened and you looked down to assess his evaluation. "Oh Archons," You mewled. "I forgot I was wearing this." You let out a groan. "Great, now my surprise is ruined. I won't be able to see you cry when you see me walk down the aisle."
He laughed a little. "But still happy as ever to see you." He said. "So why are you outside?"
"Just . . . " You began, and Aether can detect a hint of nervousness in your voice. " . . . picking some flowers."
"I thought we already ordered flowers." Aether thought, frowning. "Did someone forget to deliver the flowers? I can call someone if - "
"No, I just wanted to pick some flowers, randomly. Like how you wanted to take a walk, randomly."
He looked at you with hesitant eyes. He didn't believe you. There was something hidden behind your motive to be out here. But like how you didn't press him with what was the problem, he did the same for you.
"Okay," He breathed out. "What flowers did you pick then?"
Aether's breath hitched when you pulled out a bundle of Windwheel Asters and several more flowers that was all too familiar with him.
He stared at the white flowers that combined with your Windwheel Asters, the very flowers that he remembered adorned his sister's hair.
"Aether? Aether are you okay?"
He stared at you with glistening eyes, his heart blossoming with adoration and gratitude. Without even meaning to, you managed to make everything alright.
"Yeah," He smiled at you. "I'm okay."
Aether thought when he stood at the altar, he would have Diluc trying to soothe his nerves as his insecurities slowly sink in his mind. But it didn't happen. Diluc merely stood by him with a relaxed expression, glancing at him every now and then.
"You don't look nervous at all." Diluc remarked.
Aether chuckled. "This is the only decision I fully know I won't regret."
Aether felt like it was his first time seeing you in your wedding dress. His heart was filled with the brim with utmost joy, but what caught his attention was the bouquet of flowers in your hands.
You told him before that you will have roses as your bouquet, but to his surprise, he can see the Windwheel Asters and the white flowers that reminded him of his sister.
His emotions was all over the place. He had no idea how he could look so calm. Somehow he managed to hold himself together until you finally stood before him.
When you stared at him behind the veil, he couldn't take it anymore. You were too perfect. How could he be so blessed with you?
Tears sprung to his eyes when you reached out to take his hands in yours. He retracted one of them to rub his arm across his eyes, wiping away the wetness that streamed to his face.
Why am I crying like a child in my wedding? Stop it!
He couldn't.
He only cried harder when you leaned forward, removed his arm from his eyes, made him look into your vibrant hues, to give a small peck on his lips - "You're okay, Aether."
     BENNETT
Bennett understood his bad luck more than anyone. He had lived with and through it his entire life he graced the surface of the earth. It was almost pitiful to see the boy smiling ever so brightly as misfortune after misfortune comes hurtling his way, but to him? It was an everyday and normal occurrence, nothing he hasn't seen or experienced before. His spirits has never let their roaring flame vanish, however, and if it had not been for his bad luck, everyone would have been drawn to his warm, welcoming, affable, and cheerful soul.
But just because he was used to the constant array of debacle thrown his way, doesn't mean there were never days where he won't be upset over everything it brought to his life, and others as well, and wonder how long it will take until his unluckiness will lead him back to the very situation he was rescued from when he was a mere baby.
He forgot how long it was when he had experienced something good, miraculously so. The only time he can recall being so was when he encountered the Honorary Knight, convened with them as a temporary adventure team, and found a treasure chest containing items he has only dreamed of in his sleep deep within a domain. However, that was many moons ago, and nothing has ever compared to it ever since. The moment he departed from the Honorary Knight, his bad luck came instantly to bite him.
It was far too long ago. Sometimes, Bennett wondered if that would be the only good thing that can happen to him in his lifetime, and thank the Archons he was wrong because the very worst day that came upon him is a day he will never exchange for another - the day he met you. When it was raining, thunder in the distance, lightning striking trees and soil, his bruised and bleeding form hardly covered under a small and flimsy tent, you graced him with your presence, and an umbrella which you used to cover both of you.
He had never stopped admiring you ever since. His eyes always followed you, wide and shining. He remembered the warmth in his chest and the redness tinting his cheeks when you brought him to your abode and treated his wounds with care gentler than the Deaconess. When he told you what happened to him, he anticipated to he shoved out of the house immediately and have your front door slammed on his face, but you did not. When he warned you about his curse, telling you how you will be affected when you spend a little too much time with him, the look of fright did not cross your visage and you even insisted that he not leave your house until you were sure he was capable of moving without pain, even if you had instantly been affected by his unluckiness (you pricked your finger quite badly when you were stitching a deep wound of his. He always felt guilty for that and has not stopped offering his apologies whenever it pricks the corner of his mind).
Other than the team of adventurers who had saved him from peril when he was a baby, it was difficult to find someone who will stay with him, through bad times and more of it. One cannot simply imagine and comprehend the confusion and happiness that seized him when he found out you were spending more and more time with him, not out pity but because you enjoy his company (which was weird, but he'll take it).
You possessed no Vision, but Bennett never saw you in an inferior light. In fact, it impressed him how you can hold yourself without the aid of any power. Enemies took a little longer to eradicate but ultimately, you were always successful. He held you in high regard, and very much like a certain blond traveler, the poor boy thought it was merely friendship and respect he felt towards you. After all, wouldn't a friend accompany him in his adventures no matter what disappointing or gratifying the outcome is? Wouldn't a friend prepare meals for him before he goes off on a solo expedition? Wouldn't a friend stay up late up waiting for him to return after? Wouldn't a friend welcome him by the entrance of Mondstadt upon his arrival? Wouldn't a friend give him butterflies in his stomach? Wouldn't a friend make his heart pound in a way
It had taken the Traveler and his floating companion for Bennett to learn about how exactly he was feeling for you.
He liked you, and not in the way he liked the traveler or Razor - he liked liked you.
When he realized about his feelings, Bennett nearly short circuit every time you go near him. His face flush a rich color of vermillion, his confident posture stripped down to a coy and uncertain stance, his eyes darted and never meeting yours for too long, a sheepish smile painted over his brims - Bennett had never felt this way before. It was foreign to him - liking someone - and it was worse for him because you were his one of his few friends (you, Razor, the Traveler and their floating friend), and having you withdraw from him if you ever learned his feelings frightened him more than any Ruin Guard could.
He didn't bother entertaining the idea of you returning his feelings. With his bad luck, it was bound to end in a rejection, and he didn't believe he had the heart to accept the hurt that would come.
Bennett tried to keep his feeling a secret, he really, genuinely, did. He locked his feelings for you in a box and stowed away somewhere behind his mind. But it didn't take you too long to catch on. Bennett's theatrics wasn't as impenetrable as he originally thought because there was no other reason for you to corner him in a street in Mondstadt after he tried to avoid crossing paths with you, and admit your feelings to him.
"( Your Name )," Stuttered Bennett, eyes darting to the side to avoid your eyes as he pressed his back against the wall behind him. You gazed at him, a tint of red over your cheek.
Archon, how are you so adorable?
"Uh, hi," He greeted meekly, as he rubbed the back of his head. "I-I was just about to leave for an adventure - "
"Bennett," You spoke, and he froze at the tone of your voice.
He looked at you properly, gulping. Shy eyes, shy smile, shy, shy, shy - and yet somehow, Bennett thought the worse - that you found out about his feelings and was about to turn him down.
He almost got down on his knees and press his hands together in a praying position, head bowed, and beg to keep your friendship. It didn't matter if you did not share his feelings. You were more important than his stupid feelings. He can deal with the hurt of rejection that will soon to come, but losing you completely? Can he even come to terms with that?
But before he can do such humiliating display, you leaned in and pressed a kiss on his cheek,
It was almost too good to be true, and with someone like him, Bennett had to take a moment to comprehend what has happened. His feelings were reciprocated, opposite of what should have been considering his dilemma. How can this be? He was sure your friendship would be put to an end when you learn about what he felt for you. How did you even know that he liked you? Has he been too obvious? Surely not (he was). Perhaps you were merely toying with him, discovering his feelings and choosing to use it as a way to alleviate your boredom -
Horror struck him when he processed the message behind his doubt. How could he think so little of you? Someone as sweet and kind as you would be repulsed by the intention of the actions he thought you were presenting to him. Prideful as this may sound, Bennett believed he knew you enough to know you were sincere in everything you do.
But even if both your feelings are revealed to be mutual, the two of you agreed to wait until a certain age before forming a romantic relationship. The two of you are young and there are a lot more the world can offer outside Mondstadt. There are countless of opportunities to grow and be mature, to be able to have a set of qualities to take of one another.
But that didn't mean the two of you easily managed to hold back showcasing your favor for the other. Bennett will always find himself exchanging secret glances and smile with you whenever a third party joins in on your adventure. He would stick by your side in situations he think could potentially lead you to a major injury. He will attempt (and fail, unfortunately) to whip you up with something delicious when he has free time. And you did the same to him.
With you, there was never a time where his heart wasn't beating against his chest. He can't stop himself from bounding recklessly through his adventures whenever you accompany him, although he will still keep a close eye on you just in case something bad happens to you (but it's always him who ends up injured).
But what he liked the most are the kisses the two of you share. Short, chaste, and shy - whether it be behind closed doors, when others are looking away, or when the two of you set of on an adventure.
Bennett would lay in his bed with a smile on his face, his thundering heart preventing him from sleeping. He'll often find himself burying his face against his pillow, grinning from ear to ear.
This smile was different. This wasn't smile that he usually wore, the kind of smile that persevered through hardship after another. No, it was the sort of smile that was too carefree and too full of utmost joy, no worries or doubts in his heart. Everyday he always woke up to the excitement of adventure, but now, the excitement of it and seeing you once again always had him brimming with the want for the night to be over with so he can chase after his dreams with you. Chasing his dreams with you, what a life.
His world is full of a bad luck, but he thanked the Archons for giving him someone he can depend on in the troubling waters he always he seem to drown in.
Bennett, embarrassing it may sound, often laid on his bed imagining about marrying you.
He can see himself making a fool out of himself when he gets down on one knee and propose to you. It'll be set in the most beautiful place he discovered in one of his adventure, somewhere quiet. Like maybe on top of a mountain overseeing a vast field.
Because of his bad luck, he'll try to prepare for every outcome. To be very sure everything will be saved, he made sure he created a plan B for his plan A, a plan C for his plan B, and so on, and so forth.
He can imagine himself fumbling over his words, blushing a bright red was made prominent because of his white hair, holding a bunch of hand picked flowers a little too tightly, sweat pouring from his face, his suit and hair a little ruffled -
If you say yes (spoiler alert, you will), he will most probably go haywire with shock and happiness, causing him to drop the ring down the mountain, and the two of you will spend quite some time looking for it. But in the end, you two will find it somewhere deep underground or deep underwater (to which you will ask help to retrieve) (Bennett offered to go down to get the ring but you can’t take any chances) and then you can start planning the wedding.
If Bennett had backup plans for his proposal, then expect there'll be much more backups with your wedding. He needed this day to be perfect for you, and his bad luck won't stop him from providing it for you. Even if he had to fight through horde after horde of Hilichurls (please stop him when he does, he definitely will do that for you), making you happy is his top priority.
Bennett will be extremely anxious the day before the wedding. He'll be pacing around his room, and has half a mind of running over to your place and spending the night there to reassure himself that you still want to marry him, and that you’re absolutely sure you want to spend the rest of your life with him. It will be Razor - who the Traveler spent hours teaching the basic information of the role of Best Man to - who will calm his nerves. He’ll stop Bennett from reaching your house and carry him back to his own, and giving him a lecture (he did his best) like the best man he was.
Was he having second thoughts on marrying you? No way! He will just be nervous about how the wedding will go. With his bad luck, something horrible is bound to happen.
At the day of the wedding, Bennett can imagine himself constantly seeking reassurance from his best man.
"What if I mess up?" Questions Bennett to Razor, anxious hands fiddling with his tie.
"Messing up is . . . normal." Razor will reassure him, but Bennett will shake his head.
“But it's me. When I mess up, it's always . . . catastrophic . . . ”
Bennett hoped that at least for his wedding way, everything will go smoothly. A perfect day, for you and for him. He won't embarrass you or himself. He won't forget the rings, he won't have his clothes tucked inside out, he will not spill any food or drinks on himself or on his guests, there will be no random Hilichurl attacks - none of that.
He really hoped for the Archons to spare him from his bad luck.
He will be able to stand by the altar with confidence and a smile, waiting for you to walk down the aisle.
As Bennett is consumed with his thoughts, his eyes drew to the small table at the side of his bed and caught sight of the picture of the two of you perched on the surface. It was a picture you took with a kamera after one of his adventures. The two of you smiling happily as he showcased the loot of vegetables and wheat he gathered in numerous luxurious chests. It was good day, that picture was. He found more resources than usual. Of course, he learned from the Traveler that most of the chest they found contained treasures but hey, vegetables are better than nothing, right?
Bennett stared at your smiling face and can feel the heat creep on his cheeks as he imagined you in a pretty, white wedding dress, smiling at him so shyly and cute - oh, Archons, help him. May them have mercy on him. Of course, you always looked pretty to him - so, so pretty - but in your wedding day? Archons, he doesn't know if he can take that. It'll be too much for his big heart.
He can only imagine how your wedding will play out, but there is one thing he was sure of and that is that he will burst into tears once he laid his eyes upon you - and not the soft cry most men do in their wedding, oh, not at all like that. His heart is too big with too much love for you, and too soft to control his emotions properly.
Bennett will cry (bawl, actually), his tears of joy coming in streams, and it was loud enough for strangers to think he was grieving over a deceased loved one. He was hiccupping and sobbing, will probably be holding on to his vest tightly as if his entire lifeline depended on the pressure of how he crumpled the fabric. He hoped that in that time, Razor or the Traveler will lend him a hand and calm him down before he can ruin his own wedding.
Bennett, as he happily imagined that fateful day to come in the future (spoilers again, it will) did not feel a tear slip from the corner of his eye as he drifted off to a pleasant slumber with a beaming smile.
The boy absolutely adores you.

My small world
request closed :
Tumblr media
Ikaroux/Ademone / 30 / FM / French / Ko-Fi
Thank you for joining my blog!
I never thought I would have so many people following me, I was only writing to relax after work.
I always look forward to writing new things about Genshin Impact, I really enjoy it and I'm glad to see that my writings make you feel good!
Despite my restrictive schedule, I accept requests. I won't necessarily answer right away, but I read everything you write!
I mainly write for our beloved genshin boys (F!reader):
Diluc (my little sweetie)
Zhongli
Kaeya
Xiao
Venti
Albedo
Kazuha
Childe
Dainsleif
Thomas
(I can add Scaramouche, Dainsleif, Razor (my little wolf) and Aether, for the new characters, I usually wait a bit before writing about them)
I can also write for female characters (M!reader) :
Ganyu
Jean
Rozaria
Ayaka
Lisa
Beidou
Baal
(and soon Baal, because she seems to have a monstrous lore! I can also add Lumine)
For those who know me, you know that I can write for 10 or more characters at the same time, but it will take longer.
I like the soft and romantic writing, I'm a bit old fashioned *laugh*. I don't mind NSFW, if you ask me, I'll take the time to write it because I like to add a scenario with it!
I don't do degradation, vulgarity and insults. I also don't do toxic relationships or violence (at least I don't go to extremes).
Being French, I sometimes have a little trouble understanding some English/American expressions, so feel free to detail your requests <3 I apologize in advance for any mistakes you may find in English *cry*
For the french people who pass by, I also post on wattpad !
To finish, here is my masterlist.

very domestic overall!
Gorou pays extreme attention to detail, as expected of him given his occupation and as required in baking, and as a result, he’s actually very good at it.
it was quiet and awkward at first, making sure the measurements were right and everything was in order.
then he knocked something over with his tail when he turned and that set off the laughter.
he is in charge of measuring out ingredients and the actual baking while he leaves you to do the mixing and decorating. or vice versa depending on how handy you are in the kitchen
shy, lingering touches when you both pass by each other. e.g. hand on the small of your back or tucking hair behind ears or out of the face and little tickle wars to get you to smile.
the look on his face when you threw a handful of flour at him was priceless - mouth ajar, eyes wide open and the ‘kiss the cook’ apron you made him wear now stained with the flour and whatever else he spilled over himself.
“here, taste this for me would you?” he would ask with a soft smile when he notices you’ve gone a little quiet again.
he pretended that frosting had gotten on your face once, only to swipe more on your cheek when you leaned in to let him wipe it away.
he tries to ‘discreetly’ eat a handful of chocolate chips when you’re immersed in your own task, but jokes on him, you do it too.
he lets you lick the spatula, even if he wanted to do it. he knowingly hands it to you when he sees your longing eyes.
not to forget the ever iconic, ever lovely image of him slow dancing with you around the kitchen while the pastries bake in the oven. he leaned in to kiss you at the end of the 3rd song only to almost jump out of his skin when the timer sounded.
either stands behind you and puts his hands over yours while you roll out dough and mix or allows you to stand behind him while he does, whichever fits.
he tells you to wait a little before tasting the cookies to let them cool, but if you looked behind you both you can see his tail wagging excitedly and looking at his expression - scrunched eyebrows and eyes sparkling with excitement - you can almost hear the conflict going on in his head.
bites into the sweet treat and hums before looking at you and offering you a high five, interlocking your fingers before they dropped and not letting go until you’ve finished the piece in your hands. or maybe 2 more.
“it’s delicious! good job love,” he smiles at you, kissing your temple, “let’s make something else next,”
he takes pictures of you, very focused on making sure the cupcakes swirls were perfect because of how adorable you looked, squinted eyes and tongue peeking out a little.
honorable mentions:
he also bakes quite a lot for you, creating new recipes to fit whatever diet you had to follow or whatever dietary restrictions you had. his only goal was to make you happy.
your family trusts him enough to share family pastry recipes with him, and it’s his dream to make it alongside you for your family one day.
the first time he tried writing happy birthday on a cake, it was a little askew, so he drew on flowers and swirls to mask it. the recipient still loved it.

The Sea In The Sky // Chapter 1
Fandom: Genshin Impact Ship: XiaoAether Characters: Xiao, Aether, Zhongli, Xiao’s previous master
Summary: Aether is a mermaid. He is captured by the Goddess of Dreams who plans to sacrifice him. The goddess orders Xiao to guard Aether and stop him from escaping. (Mermaid AU)
(Ch.1) //
Tumblr media
“If you wish to kill me, you will have to enter my domain.” Aether challenged the goddess and he glared up at where she stood at the edge of the ravine. She may have led him into a trap but he was far from helpless. The abyss he was imprisoned in was deep and her soldiers would drown if they tried to reach him. Unfortunately, Aether could do little else. The goddess had sealed the underwater openings of the ravine and he couldn’t swim away.
Aether was a mermaid and he could easily survive in the water but he needed to eat. However, the moment he left the water, he would be killed. They were both well aware of this and they were at a standstill. The first to move from the safety of their domain would lose. He didn’t allow any of those concerns to appear on his face as he levelled his gaze at the goddess. He only needed to bide his time until they fell asleep and he could sneak out of the hole.
“Mermaids are such violent creatures, aren’t they?” She mused to herself and Aether bit his tongue against a retort. Mermaids like him needed to be wary after they were hunted to near extinction. People believed that sacrificing a mermaid to the moon would grant them immortality and power. Aether didn’t know what a goddess would want from the ritual when she already had so much power. She smiled down at him and added: “But you have the same simple hearts as humans. Your sister was stubborn like you.”
“Are you trying to imply that you trapped her here as well? Don’t make me laugh. She’s far too strong for someone like you to capture her.” Aether laughed dryly. He knew that she was likely trying to provoke him yet he couldn’t stop his magic from rushing through his blood. Before he could think better, he channeled his magic into the water around him.
The water burst out of the ravine like a torrent and it was left empty and bare. The goddess evaded his attack by simply stepping backwards but then the water formed into countless swords above their heads. It would be impossible for so many swords to miss. However, the woman remained undaunted by the threat and she didn’t look away from Aether.
“Come, Alatus.”
A green blur darted over her head and it easily parried the countless water swords. A man landed at the rocky edge of the abyss and Aether struggled to see his face hidden behind a yaksha mask. Then, he disappeared. He gasped when he suddenly appeared before him and he barely had the chance to react. The man aimed his spear at him and he moved too quickly for Aether to dodge.
Aether clasped the air in front of him and then he drew his fist to his chest. The water above them followed his motion and it crashed back into the hole. With the rush of water, the man was thrown off balance and his spear struck the floor instead. He grabbed the pole before the man could recover in the water and he kept him from using it again. He held onto the spear to anchor himself and then he slapped the man with his amber tail.
He slammed him into the ground and the impact caused his mask to fly off his face. Aether grabbed the man’s shoulder and he lifted his spear in his other hand. He looked into the man’s face and something in his expression stopped him. His golden eyes appeared lost and resigned to death. Despite his better judgement, he couldn’t help but feel pity and mercy.
Aether created a current that carried the man back to the surface and threw him out of the water. He continued to grip his jade spear though. He decided to spare the man but he wasn’t naive. “I was told that my sister was captured by you. I don’t sense her presence lingering here so that was clearly a lie. Do you know where she is?”
“No.” Her short answer made Aether’s heart sink. His sister disappeared 500 years ago and he didn’t know whether she was still alive. Yet, he continued to search the ocean for her. The goddess’s expression finally changed and the corner of her lips tilted up into a grin. “Mermaids often keep themselves hidden so tales of one exploring the seven seas to find their sister spread quickly. You have your own foolishness to blame for this situation.”
Aether should’ve been angry at her mocking words but, to his surprise, he only felt relieved. The goddess was infamous for her cruelty and he hated the thought of his sister being the one trapped in the ravine. Hopefully, he would be able to escape once it became night. She blocked the underwater passages but he would find another way to escape. The woman stepped away from the ravine and out of his sight.
“Alatus, you are to guard the mermaid and keep him from escaping.” She ordered and he could only nod solemnly. The moment she spoke his name, he was compelled to obey her. Xiao glanced into the hole where the mermaid sat. They were both trapped by the goddess and neither could escape.
Tumblr media
Aether swirled the water in front of him and he froze the current until he could form two ice mirrors. He tapped the cold surface and one of the mirrors flew out of the cavern. The two mirrors were connected and they reflected the same image. He intended to use them to be able to see the land above and fully assess his situation. If there were only a few guards, he could fight them and escape. Mermaids were able to perform a spell to gain legs but it was dangerous.
Shockingly, he could only see one man guarding him. He thought there would be more. The guard sat with his back to him but Aether recognized him as the masked man from that morning. He wasn’t sleeping so he would have to fight him. Their brief encounter told him that it would be more difficult to defeat him than an army of regular soldiers. Aether let out a resigned sigh and he picked up the jade spear.
He swam towards the surface and he was able to hear the voices of two people. Aether emerged from the water and he was careful to keep them from noticing them. He squinted against the darkness and he saw the man speaking to a stone dragon. “I apologize for my carelessness, Rex Lapis, I have lost the spear you gifted me. I shouldn’t have underestimated a mermaid.”
“Xiao, you don’t need to apologize for everything.” The dragon spoke with a deep, soothing voice. “I gave you that spear so you could protect yourself until I found a way to free you from your master. I thought I would be able to free you by now. She’s a formidable opponent as the Goddess of Dreams. Merely approaching her is dangerous because she will corrupt one’s heart and mind. However, I will not give up.”
Aether knew that this was the best chance to escape yet he found himself intrigued by their conversation. He heard rumours of the goddess and how she controlled powerful warriors. Even though yaksha was clearly a strong warrior, he didn’t appear to be violent or bloodthirsty.
He shook his head and he reminded himself that the longer he was trapped in the cavern, the more time Lumine was alone in the ocean. They grew up relying on each other to survive despite how humans ruthlessly hunted them for power. He didn’t know why she suddenly disappeared from their river but he would search the seven seas for her.
He gripped the rocky ledge and he pulled himself onto land as quickly as he could. His tail slapped against the water as he sat on the ground and the splash caught Xiao’s attention. He turned around sharply and his eyes narrowed the moment he saw Aether. Xiao summoned his spear and Aether quickly countered his attack by controlling the water. He used the water to create a wall in front of him.
“Bound to the sea. Bound to the earth. To find your true home, release the spirit to the sky.” Aether quickly chanted the spell and he called upon the power of the sun. A warm breeze circled his tail and he had to close his eyes against the bright light. When he opened his eyes again, he saw that he now had legs. He jumped to his feet to flee but he almost immediately stumbled to the ground. He rarely used his human form and he wasn’t accustomed to walking— let alone running.
He couldn’t find his balance and he started to fall again. A hand caught his wrist to keep him from crashing into the hard ground. The brief moment of relief Aether felt disappeared when he realized that it was Xiao who caught him. Xiao tugged on his hand and he fell forward into his chest. He let go of him, only to wrap his arm around his waist and lift his spear.
His heart dropped, thinking that Xiao would take him to the goddess to be sacrificed. However, he couldn’t fight back with his arm keeping him in place. He pressed his face into the man’s chest so he wouldn’t see his attack and he braced himself for the pain. Aether forced himself to focus on anything but the weapon. He held his breath and he counted the sound of water droplets falling from his hair to the stone floor.
After a moment, Aether realized that Xiao stood frozen in front of him. The hand on his bare back was trembling slightly. Aether hesitantly lifted his face from his chest and he looked into Xiao’s golden eyes. He was confused about why he suddenly stopped when it was impossible for him to disobey an order from the goddess. He pushed against Xiao's grip and that seemed to break him out of his trance.
“I don’t want to eat another dream.” He whispered so softly that Aether wouldn’t have heard them if they weren’t standing so close to each other. “I’m sorry. I don’t have another choice.”
“Xiao.” A deep voice interrupted him and they turned to the stone dragon he was speaking with earlier. “What exactly was the order she gave you?”
Xiao’s eyes widened. The slight change in his expression spoke volumes to Aether, portraying the yaksha’s understanding and relief. He dropped his weapon but he didn’t let go of him. Aether gasped as Xiao lifted him into his arms and he instinctively hugged his neck to keep himself from falling. His confusion grew after he realized that he wasn’t taking him to the goddess’s palace.
Instead, Xiao carried him to the ravine. He slowly lowered him into the water and his tail returned once he became wet. He didn’t dive back into the safety of the water though. Aether studied his expression in the moonlight and he searched for the reason behind Xiao’s contradictory behaviour. As if he could read his mind, he explained.
“The goddess only commanded me to keep you from escaping. I am under no obligation to take you to her once I stop you.” Xiao explained. “You can try to run again but I will capture you and take you back to this hole. However, I suggest that you don’t try to escape in front of the goddess. She will order me to kill you and I won’t be able to stop next time.”
“I don’t know whether I should thank you for sparing me when I’m still trapped in this hell.” Aether smiled wearily. He began to sink into the water but then he noticed the conflicted expression Xiao wore. He clearly understood the pain of being trapped because he was serving such a cruel god. Aether could only imagine how long he served her but the torment he experienced was easy to guess. “That man called you Xiao. Is that your name?”
They were both trapped by the goddess and Aether’s heart softened. He should be skeptical of Xiao but he couldn’t bring himself to resent him. Neither of them had a choice in this situation and he didn’t truly want to help her. He fought against his master’s control long enough for him to find a way to disobey her.
“Xiao, may I touch you? I can sense a tension in your mind and I may be able to purify it. This will be my way to thank you.” He slowly moved his hand until it hovered inches over Xiao’s cheek. He was so close that he could feel his warmth but both were hesitant to close the small space between them. Aether thought his silence was a rejection and he started to lower his hand.
Then, Xiao leaned into his palm and he took a shaky breath. Aether gently rubbed his thumb over his cheek and he focused on the dark aura plaguing his mind. His purification magic flowed from his fingers and he watched how Xiao relaxed beneath his touch. His expression softened and Aether hadn’t seen someone appear so beautiful before.
Xiao placed his hand over Aether’s and he lightly guided their linked fingers to the water. He let him go and stood. As wonderful as the spell was, he didn’t want to indulge in something so fleeting. He walked away and he heard Aether’s voice behind him. “Sweet dreams, Xiao.”
Aether sank to the seafloor and he thought over what he learned from the short exchange between Xiao and the stone dragon. The goddess had a way to control him and the dragon was searching for a way to help him. Perhaps, he could also work with them to defeat the goddess.
Together, they could both become free.
Tumblr media
A/N: I based Xiao’s master on the description in the beta bow Primordial Jade Vista and headcanon that she is the goddess of dreams or has a way of looking into someone mind/dreams.

Tumblr media
You packed a delicious-looking breakfast into a special bamboo box, and then wrapped both the beautifully scented bento and the paper bag with chocolate cookies in a much larger piece of colorful fabric to make it all more convenient to carry. A proud smile graced your face as you turned to greet Albedo, whose footsteps you heard in the distance.
“Hello, darling.” You greeted him warmly and then felt a sweet kiss in the middle of your hot forehead. “Breakfast is on the table, and here, I packed your dinner. Please, eat it later, okay?” You added softly, touching his delicate skin on his cheek by your left hand, and the man nodded gently, after a while, however, nestling your body into his slightly larger and warmer. “Huh? Something happened?”
“Well... I know, I promised you that today we will spend some time together and go for a walk, but I will have to stay longer at work.” He confessed hesitantly, and you sighed under your breath.
“After all, you are our Chief Alchemist, I’m not really surprised. Has Jean commissioned you to do something important?” Curious, you asked, and he shook his head, which made you a bit confused. So you raised an eyebrow, gesturing for him to answer you truthfully.
“Sucrose asked me to help her with alchemy, so I’ll stay with her a little longer to help her master some of the things.” He admitted calmly, and your expression becomes blank. Ah, right. You could have figured out that the reason for all of this is your fiance’s helper, Sucrose.
You moved away from his body, then sighed; nevertheless, a weak smile appeared on your face. Not very honest, but Albedo didn’t seem to notice it.
“It’s okay, love. Let’s go eat our breakfast. I made your favorite vegetable and mushroom omelets.”

Hours after Albedo left the house, you realized that you forgot to add a thermos with coffee to his large bento. You decided to quickly fix your mistake and prepared his favorite, strong drink. You also took some fresh fruit and packed it in a small cloth bag. On its front there was a beautiful bouquet that you had embroidered yourself a few days earlier.
Even though you were confused by the behavior of your lover, you couldn’t stop worrying about him. He was the most important person for you, he was your beloved second half, he was also the best human you have ever met, so you wanted to repay him for looking after you and making sure that nothing bad would ever happen to you. Albedo cared for you as best he could and you appreciated it like nothing else in the world. However, for a long time you have had the impression that this care and interest in you begins and ends in your shared home, where no one is looking, where no one is allowed to enter.
Your weekly walks around the city were a thing of the past, and you didn’t want to ask for them every time. Your ‘family’ lunches were no longer shared lunches, because you ate them alone while the twenty-two-years-old was in his lab or carrying out his missions. Your tenderness was limited to kisses on the forehead, and you missed kisses on the mouth, on the nose, on other parts of the body. Not to mention about long baths together or time spent in bed (not necessarily reading books, but something... more intimate).
Nevertheless, you weren’t particularly angry, maybe a bit disappointed, but you didn’t feel angry with your partner. The only thing you could feel at that time was your concern about whether Albedo takes care of himself and takes care of his daily menu or the right amount of water consumed throughout the whole day.
The road to the place where the young man’s laboratory was located took you less than twenty minutes. Along the way, you greeted the inhabitants of Mondstadt, who, seeing you, wished you a nice day and asked you to greet, quoting their words, ‘The Great Captain’. At the sound of their joyfull voices you smiled slightly, nodding your head and promising you would do it. And as soon as you got to the right place, you quietly entered the building. You wanted to say ‘Good afternoon’ to your loved one and green-haired teenager, but instead you almost felt that the bag of products falling out of your hands.
You knew Albedo cherished you and would never cheat on you, but it hurt to see him leaning forward next to Sucrose. It seemed that his lips were about to touch her cheek or temple, and it hurt as badly as any other form of cheating. He had so much fun with her and their alchemy, so many topics to talk about, from work to missions they were given, and you? All you two could talk about was only... Yeah, was what?
“Umm... Albedo?” Your peaceful voice spread over the fairly large room, and two people next to the wooden table looked up at your standing figure. “I forgot to pack your coffee in the morning... I’ll put it here and I won’t disturb you two anymore. Don’t overstraining yourselves, okay?” Your faint smile covered a broken voice and trembling lips. “Good luck with your work and study. Do your best.”
You quickly put the silvery thermos and colorful fruit on the dark cabinet, and just as quickly left the room. Albedo, seeing your figure disappearing, apologized to his assistant, and she nodded. But before the blonde alchemist left the room, Sucrose grabbed him by the black sleeve of his clothes and laughed shyly.
“Mr. Albedo, I don’t think I need any extra lessons today, though. We can arrange a different date. Will it be okay?” Her girlish voice reached his ears, and he mechanically agreed, breathing blissfully. “Thank you. Please keep Mrs. Y/N company tonight. I think she misses you really much.”
The knight wanted to answer, but instead he ran after you, catching you up almost at the exit of the brick building. He took your sad face slowly between his all, long fingers and you frowned.
“Why are you leaving? You’re always welcome here, darling.”
“I just don’t want to disturb you two, Albedo. I don’t fit here.” You admitted finely, and your gaze shifted to the mahogany panels under your feet. “Sometimes I wonder why you are with me. I don’t even understand alchemy, you can’t talk to me about it. You should... Maybe you should be with Sucrose? Or with another woman who shares your hobbies...?” You asked tenderly, and he opened his eyes wider, pulling your body into a warm embrace.
“I never thought of leaving you for someone else, dearest. Why are you talking about this at all? What happened?”
Your eyes met his deep blue orbs again, and you shrugged timidly.
“Currently, Sucrose is closer to you than I am. I thought you were bored with me. Moreover – I don’t thi...”
A precious kiss on your blueberry-tasting lips silenced your thoughts and at the same time caused a tiny blush on your both cheeks and ear tips.
“Sucrose is my successor, it’s true. But, my love. You are my future wife and you’re definitely more important to me than she is. Please don’t ever think that I will leave you for someone else. You are the best thing... no, you’re the best person that enter to my life and I love you very, very much. Also... Sucrose always asks about you and says she wants to be like you. Like someone who know how to cook or bake, sew clothes and plushies, make beautiful hairstyles like the ones on my head. She admires you as someone admires their mother. Sometimes I have the feeling that she would rather be your apprentice than mine.” He laughed cutely, and you looked at him in big surprise. After a short while, however, you nodded, resting your head on his smooth neck. “... I know I’ve been neglecting you lately and I’m ashamed of it, but now I promise to make it up to you. Therefore, let’s go home and tomorrow we’ll go for a walk to the lake or for a picnic.”
“Huh? But your job? Extra-curricular activities...? And what about...”
“Don’t think about anything. We’re done now so let’s go, dear. I have to show you how different you are from other people when it comes to my feelings.” Suddenly his mouth was right next to your left ear, and warm breath wrapped around your face. “And I don’t promise you’ll fall asleep tonight.”
“... A-Albedo!”
