I understand, starting to learn a new language, especially one as unique as Hebrew, can bring up a lot of fears and doubts.
You might be wondering, "Will it take months to get the hang of this? Will I even be able to grasp it?"
Let me reassure you, with my best-selling Hebrew 1, 2, and 3 series, these worries can be put to rest.
Let's start with Hebrew 1. This workbook is designed to give you, or your little one, a confidence-boosting start.
Using words you already know in Hebrew and English, it makes the process relatable and straightforward.
You'll complete all your writing skills in Hebrew, learning to write the entire alphabet in Print letters.
Hebrew 2 then takes you further, focusing on Cursive/ Script writing.
Together with Hebrew 1, these workbooks cover all the writing skills you need in Hebrew. They're structured to be completed back-to-back for the best results.
The approach is hands-on and practical, simplifying complex Hebrew concepts, making it fun for kids and straightforward for adults.
Hebrew 3 is the textbook that completes your reading skills. It introduces you to the vowel Nikud system, an essential part of reading Hebrew proficiently. This stage of learning might sound complex, but it's presented in a way that's digestible and engaging.
Each workbook is filled with unique features to enhance your learning experience. You'll form the habit of writing from right to left, learn each letter with familiar words, and have access to videos where I sound out and write the letters, and practice to perfection.
The workbooks are designed not just to teach you the alphabet and writing skills but also to instill an understanding of practical Hebrew basics needed for reading and writing.

Saw "Seal of Solomon" tagged as "Christian Witch" on a post so of course I go to the blog and, just an excerpt of the about: "The Angels, Saints, and Woman of the Torah are my guides.  These are the guides and deities I work with as I have made a covenant with the three fold trinity. To me the Angels and Saints are my guardians, The 4 main Arch Angels correspond with the elements, Eve is the Maiden, Magdalene is the lover, Mary is the mother, Lilith is the Crone, Chokmah/Sophia is wisdom, Yeshua is the Savior/Brother, and Yahweh is the Father....." I'm going to go absolutely bonkers.

Okay i saw your answer on etrogs so it made me wonder: etrog vs rimon, which is more Jewish?? (I’m not actually invested in a definite answer, but I’m VERY invested in the debate)
Rating: HERE’S THE DEBATE YOU WANTED
Answering this question necessarily requires a working definition of what makes something “more” or “less” Jewish, and what that definition is results in several different answers with their corresponding justifications. Does “more Jewish” mean “more important to Judaism religiously”? Or “more important to Jewish culture?” Or “belonging uniquely to Jews as opposed to any other enthno-religious group?” So, here goes:
More religiously important: ETROG. The etrog, also known as the citron, is one of the four species critical to the celebration of the Festival of Sukkot. Leviticus 23:40 commands that “on the first day [of Sukkot] you shall take the product of hadar trees, branches of palm trees, boughs of leafy trees, and willows of the brook, and you shall rejoice before your God seven days.” “Hadar” translates to “splendor” or “beauty” and is traditionally read to refer to the etrog tree. Interestingly, the Jerusalem Talmud suggests the possibility that “hadar tree” could refer to pomegranates before dismissing it, as the pomegranate has a “beautiful fruit but not beautiful wood,” (or possibly vice versa, scribal texts disagree), whereas the etrog has both beautiful fruit and beautiful wood, along a beautiful scent. (Jerusalem Talmud Sukkah 3:5:2). All that aside, there is mitzvah d’orieta (a religious obligation directly from the Torah, as opposed to an obligation established by the rabbis, a mitzvah d’rabbanan) that requires the use of the etrog, whereas all religious use of the pomegranate, such as at a Tu B’shvat Seder or as a siman on Rosh HaShanah, have merely the force of minhag (religious custom, not law).
More important to Jewish culture: RIMON. Pomegranates feature in a huge amount of Jewish art, especially as decoration on pretty much any Jewish ritual item. You can find them on everything from ketubot (marriage contracts) to hanukkiot (hanukkah menorahs). I’ve seen pomegranate tallitot, pomegranate mezuzot, pomegranate tzedakah boxes, etc. Personally, in my house, we have four different pomegranate mezuzot, a pomegranate hand-washing cup for ritual handwashing, pomegranate candlesticks, a pomegranate kiddush cup, and, ironically enough, an etrog box decorated with— you guessed it— pomegranates. (I also have pomegranate earrings and pomegranate socks, thank you fiance) (At the time of this writing, this blog is also a Jewish thing decorated with pomegranates). A search for “pomegranate” on Judaica.com offers 197 results, whereas a search for “etrog” turns up 4 actual lulav and etrog sets, plus 13 decorative boxes designed to safely hold one’s etrog during sukkot and not as decoration at all.
Pomegranates are one of the seven species biblically associated with the land of Israel, along with wheat, barley, grapes, fig, olives, and dates (Deuteronomy 8:8)-- a list that does not include etrogim. They are also an important motif throughout Shir haShirim (Song of Songs), in which the lovers frequently compare each other’s beauty to that of a pomegranate. Pomegranates symbolize beauty, fertility, fecundity, mitzvot, and merit, as in the annual Rosh HaShanah wish that “our merits be as plentiful as the seeds of the pomegranate.” A common (though inaccurate) bit of folk wisdom gives the number of seeds in a pomegranate as 613, one for each of the commandments given in the Torah.
In a particularly entertaining digression in the Talmud (Bava Metzia 8a) in which the rabbis are comparing their physical attributes (yes, this means exactly what you think it does), the narrative voice pauses to explain that if you want to understand just how unbelievably gorgeous Rabbi Yochanan was, you should take a “silver goblet from the smithy and fill it with red pomegranate seeds and place a diadem of red roses upon the lip of the goblet, and position it between the sunlight and shade. That luster is a semblance of Rabbi Yoḥanan’s beauty.” Does this really support my thesis? As minor evidence at most, but I will seize any opportunity to share that description.
Meanwhile, the etrog does not appear as a symbol or decoration in and of itself, only in the context of Sukkot and the other three Sukkot species. You may indeed see an etrog on the Torah curtain in Tishrei or in a panel of stained glass in the synagogue… but you’ll only know it’s an etrog because it has the lulav right next to it, generally as part of an array of holiday-related symbols. (I do, in fact, also own an etrog earring, but just the one— the other one is a lulav, thank you sibling.) There are a plethora of midrashim on what exactly the etrog symbolizes, but always as part of a set. For example, it’s often associated with the heart, to go along with the palm frond’s spine, the myrtle’s mouth, and the willow’s eye. As my fiance put it, “If you see a pomegranate on something, there’s a decent chance it’s Jewish. But without the lulav, an etrog just looks like a lemon, and there’s nothing particularly Jewish about lemons.”
Belonging Uniquely to Jews: ETROG. The citron is widely agreed to be one of three “true” members of the citrus family, along with the mandarin and pomelo, with all others the results of hybridization. Archeological and primary-document research confirms that the citron originated in eastern India and southern China, and was found in Sumerian ruins dating from more than six thousand years ago. It is referenced in the Vajasaneiy Samhita, a compilation of Vedic religion texts, called Yajur-Veda (ca. 1200-1000 B.C.E), and early Greek and Latin writers describe the citron clearly, mentioning its use as an antidote to poisons and a way to ward off moths from one’s clothes.* However, a 2015 study found evidence that the diffusion of the citron throughout southern Italy and the surrounding region dated to the destruction of the Second Temple and subsequent Jewish diaspora. The study concludes that their results “evidence the special role played by Jews in the spread of the citron as the authentic sacred fruit used in their Tabernacles ritual.”* It is worth noting that there is a variety of citron known as “Buddha’s Hand” that may be used as offerings in Buddhist temples, but it looks so dramatically different from what we know as an etrog as to be a different item entirely (and, indeed, multiple rabbis have ruled that it should not be used for fulfilling the mitzvah). Thus, the etrog is inextricably and uniquely linked to Jews.
On the other side of the debate, pomegranates appear frequently in art, stories, and cultural artifacts throughout the world, particularly in the Middle and Near East. These stories range from the Ancient Greek myth of Hades and Persophone, whose consumption of pomegranate seeds kept her in the underworld for the winter each year, to a Buddhist legend of a child-eating/stealing demoness whom the Buddha convinced to only eat pomegranates and become a patron goddess of children.  Greece, Armenia, and Azerbaijan, among others, consider the pomegranate to be one of their important symbols. Traditions regarding pomegranates abound, including a Greek custom of smashing a pomegranate on the new year for good luck. They are widely considered a symbol of fertility, abundance, and good luck, similarly to their symbolism in Judaism. In short, while Jews are very into pomegranates, so are a lot of other cultures.

I have a couple of holiday headcanons for different Falsettos characters so buckle up (if I say anything wrong, please do correct me, I’m not Jewish so I don’t know everything about Jewish holidays)
During Tu B’Av, when Trina was younger and when she can occasionally squeeze into the dress, she used to borrow a white dress from her mother in tradition of the holiday until it stopped fitting. Marvin, similar to the way he acts on Valentine’s, makes a lot of cards for Whizzer to show his affections for his lover. Jason studies the Torah with Mendel. Cordelia cooks traditional food for Charlotte and they have a little two woman celebration.
During Rosh Hashanah, Trina prays near a body of water while Jason throws bread in the water, it ends up being loafs since nobody is really paying attention to him at that point because Mendel isn’t paying attention. The gays and the lesbians have a big dinner at least one of the days, courtesy of the amazing Cordelia’s food and her cooking skills while Marvin and Charlotte coach her how to make it properly, Marvin more aggressively than Charlotte.
I will make a pt.2/3/however many I’m able to make and I’ll definitely get more information and research on holidays and I probably will do Hanukkah at some point but I love the concept and celebrations of these holidays and I feel like they’re swept under the rug when thinking about Jewish celebrations.

This post is directed at an alarming number of “Eastern Orthodox” and “Catholic” blogs which my sister and I stumbled across in our search for aesthetic blogs:
In the Christian worldview, when Jesus chose to come to earth as a man, he came as a Jewish rabbi. Approximately 75% of the Word of God is revelation given initially to the Jews, in the form of the Torah. If you have a problem with this, you have a problem with Christianity.
The most positively portrayed (human) romantic relationship in Scripture (if you’re not counting the unnamed lovers of Song of Songs) is an interracial relationship between Ruth (Moabite Gentile) and Boaz (Jewish). If you have a problem with this, you have a problem with Christianity.
According to Scripture, every person bears the image of God. Antisemitism, eugenics, social darwinism, racial supremacy, and basically any other main component of Nazi ideology is completely antithetical to Christianity.
So if you are calling yourself a Christian and posting Nazi or white supremacist imagery or rhetoric, STOP. Light can have no fellowship with darkness; Christ can have no fellowship with the Devil (2 Corinthians 6:14-16). Please, read the Scriptures:
“For he himself [Jesus] is our peace, who has made us both one and has broken down in his flesh the dividing wall of hostility by abolishing the law of commandments expressed in ordinances, that he might create in himself one new man in place of the two [Jews and Gentiles], so making peace, and might reconcile us both to God in one body through the cross, thereby killing the hostility. And he came and preached peace to you who were far off [Gentiles] and peace to those who were near [Jews]. For through him we both have access in one Spirit to the Father.” ~  Ephesians 2:14-18
“There is neither Jew nor Greek, there is neither slave nor free, there is no male and female, for you are all one in Christ Jesus. And if you are Christ's, then you are Abraham's offspring, heirs according to promise.” ~ Galatians 3:28-29
(Addendum:  The FIRST commandment is “You shall have no other gods before Me.” If your Christianity is in service to political ends, that is idolatry. Or if Jesus is just another source for symbolism existing alongside Odin and Baphomet, that is syncretism; that is NOT Christianity.)

In a speech by Olga Tokarczuk, a Nobel Prize winner in literature, she said: Have you ever wondered who the marvelous storyteller is in the Bible who calls out in a loud voice: “In the beginning was the word”? Who is the narrator who describes the creation of the world, its first day, when chaos was separated from order, who follows the serial about the origin of the universe, who knows the thoughts of God, is aware of his doubts, and with a steady hand sets down on paper the incredible sentence: “And God saw that it was good”? Who is this, who knows what God thought?
I find it really beautiful, that last question. who do you think it is?
it is the priestly source that composed (and was composed by) the first creation story. it is the last source of the torah. it is written in exile, far from eden, far from this god and all that he saw to be טֽוֹב. and yet, this god is never far. nor can eden be, for a composing body in diaspora. this god keeps his affect loud, his thoughts gushing, his heart on his sleeve. even for the priestly source, so pre-occupied with garb and blood and transcendence, this god can’t squirm out of his own immanence. they look up from writing about god in eden to find god in the room with them, and the room is eden anyway, and everything is טֽוֹב, because it has to be. hashem is a good ancient near eastern god. responsive as a lover. if he likes something he’ll tell you

Hey so I put together a list of trans and Jewish books (books about trans Jews or by trans Jews - or both!) for my synagogue for TDOV. We have been "the queer shul" in our city since the 90s so we have a reputation to uphold here. Anyway I thought I'd share it here for those interested.:
Memoir/biography
1. Becoming Eve - Abby Chava Stein. Chronicles her journey through transition, from ultra-Orthodox Rabbi to transgender woman
2. Through the Door of Life - Joy Ladin. A memoir of transition from the first openly transgender employee of an Orthodox university
3. What We Will Become - Mimi Lemay. Lemay writes about her own journey and that of her child, Jacob, who knew he was a boy from age two
4. Blood, Marriage, Wine, and Glitter - S. Bear Bergman. Essays by Bergman, a trans, Jewish, polyamorous parent
5. Continuum - Chella Man. A memoir of many identities; Man is Chinese-Jewish, genderqueer, and Deaf
Fiction (adult)
1. Sarahland (Stories) - Sam Cohen. Cohen's 10 stories all center on women named Sarah, including a transgender Sarah who marries Hagar
2. Confessions of the Fox - Jordy Rosenberg. Rosenberg re-imagines English folk hero Jack Sheppard as a trans man
3. The Blade Between - Sam J. Miller. A man returns to his hometown to help (no joke) ancient whale demigods and the ghost of a onetime lover fight (again, no joke) insidious gentrification. I've read this one; it's an absolute bonkers joy.
4. The Right Thing to Do at the Time - Dov Zeller. A trans-centered Yiddish-inspired retelling of Pride & Prejudice
5. All the Things We Don't Talk About - Amy Feltman. A family saga about a neurodivergent father, a nonbinary teen, and the woman who abandoned them both
Torah & Spirituality
1. Torah Queeries - Drinkwater et al., ed. Modern, queer readings of the parashot
2. The Soul of the Stranger - Joy Ladin. Reading Torah and understanding God from a transgender perspective
3. Transgender & Jewish - Naomi Zeveloff, ed. Stories of the "first wave" of openly gender nonconforming Jewish people to take places of leadership in the mainstream

OK after watching the entirety of Hell’s Belles yesterday and the day before, this morning I couldn’t stop thinking about what the Jewish afterlife would look like in the HB universe:
* I got to imagine that given that the first two levels of (Christian) Hell are basically for therapy, that this would remain true for large portions of Gehinnom (Which is what I’m deciding the part of the afterlife devoted to Jews who did bad stuff is called), given that Judaism is less about punishing sinners than allowing them to reform.
* I also have to imagine that instead of a complaints desk Gehinnom has an informal court where people can make their case as to why they have been misclassified. I think one of the bigger problems wouldn’t be Karens wanting to see the Management but rules lawyers types trying to get out of being punished for their misdeeds through technicalities
* I think souls arguing with each other in the lobby like what happened with the Catholic and the Protestant happens so frequently that there’s actually a designated area for that so they don’t get in the way of other Jews waiting to argue their cases
* I also think, like with the Catholic and the Protestant, at least once a Zionist and an Anti-Zionist got trapped in a small room together to argue endlessly. Whether that ends with the two of them making out/becoming Enemies to Lovers like the Catholic and the Protestant is an exercise for the reader.
* There’s definitely a Paradise that’s just a bunch of rabbis arguing endlessly over Jewish texts. They’ve already produced a third and fourth Talmud based partially on various rabbis from different time periods being able to meet in the flesh/read the works of rabbis from after they died and partially based on the presence of other cosmologies in the Afterlife in general, and now one of the big debates is whether or not they are allowed to share it with the mortal Jewish world (after all, technically the Torah is not in Heaven!)
* There is also a part of Gehinnom where various important historical rabbis go to yell at Orthodox/Ultra-Orthodox Jews who tried to use Judaism to justify the bad things they did while mortal
* There’s a special part of Christian Hell where the Nazis and other antisemites are kept that the Jewish afterlife has access to for Jews to beat on if they’d like.
That’s what I got so far we’ll see if I think of anything else.

💖 Master the Future of Love in Hebrew! 💖
You know the language of love is universal, but there's something truly special about expressing it in Hebrew.
Today, I'm bringing you something that’s close to my heart - conjugating the verb "to love" in future tense. 💕
Why future tense, you ask? Because love isn’t just about the here and now; it’s a promise, a commitment to a future together. Imagine telling your loved one not just that you love them now, but that you WILL love them, in all the tomorrows to come. Is there anything more beautiful and reassuring than that? 🥰
Learning how to express this in Hebrew brings a certain depth and richness to your relationships. It's not just about the words; it's about the emotion and intention behind them. 🌹
So let's see the breakdown of this heartwarming verb in future tense. Trust me, this is not just a grammar lesson; this is a lesson in love. 💌
Shall we dive into the poetic and romantic side of Hebrew? 💙🤍

First off, my own personal bias on textual criticism is that I think basically every single text that circulated privately prior to widespread publication was subject to a large degree of accretion and redaction during that time period, which only ever stops in the case of widespread transmission. And I think that this should be the default assumption until proven otherwise. This has been shown fairly conclusively with the Torah and a few other works of religious importance, but I think it's underexamined for secularized works like the Iliad and Odyssey, although that itself has shifted in the past few decades with a greater number of scholars appreciating the polyphony inherent in these works to the point where the Homeric Question is a bit passé and even the "Hesiodic question" starts to look like it's going to give way to multiple authorship before even being considered.
But the truly spicy take here is that I think the idea that Plato and Aristotle wrote most of the content in the works attributed to them is probably also a minority opinion among critical scholars with expertise and ability to evaluate such matters, but that few of them want to say anything definitive, even though many of them regularly hint such things. They do this because if a work wasn't entirely written by the famous genius person, but instead accreted material over centuries, that will make funding agencies stop paying anyone money to study them, and those works that are "dubia" will then start being left out of published editions and translations. John Cooper already had to fight tooth and nail to get the entire Thrasyllan Canon into the Hackett edition of Plato's Complete Works. Which is because funding agencies are philistines, it doesn't matter what percentage of the Timaeus one specific Athenian asshole wrote, what matters is it was the most important
So effectively I believe there's an omerta, a "noble lie" if you will, among classical scholars trained in philology not to do any textual criticism on Plato or Aristotle anymore like they used to a century ago. Instead they're content to let the less informed "literary" critics (who can't even read Greek well) fight over the authenticity of already decanonized works like First Alcibiades and Rival Lovers on the basis of supposed "Platonic" doctrine or "stylometric" differences. And meanwhile the actual experts know there's a good chance Plato didn't write even half of the Republic.

Strong's Concordance #1160 Beor: From ba'ar (in the sense of burning); a lamp; to kindle, i.e. consume (by fire or by eating); to become brutish, to be brutish; to take away; father of an Edomite king, also the father of Balaam Original Word: בְּעוֹר
TANAKH (Jewish Publication Society, Hebrew-English) Page 606: 1 Samuel 16:13 Samuel took the horn of oil and anointed him in the presence of his brothers; and the spirit of the Lord gripped David from that day on. Samuel then set out for Ramah.
According to Jewish tradition, the Torah contains 613 commandments (Hebrew: תרי״ג מצוות, romanized: taryag mitzvot). This tradition is first recorded in the 3rd century CE, when Rabbi Simlai mentioned it in a sermon that is recorded in Talmud Makkot 23b. Other classical sages who hold this view include Rabbi Simeon ben Azzai and Rabbi Eleazar ben Yose the Galilean. It is quoted in Midrash Exodus Rabbah 33:7, Numbers Rabbah 13:15–16; 18:21 and Talmud Yevamot 47b. The 613 commandments include "positive commandments", to perform an act (mitzvot aseh), and "negative commandments", to abstain from an act (mitzvot lo taaseh). The negative commandments number 365, which coincides with the number of days in the solar year, and the positive commandments number 248, a number ascribed to the number of bones and main organs in the human body.
Although the number 613 is mentioned in the Talmud, its real significance increased in later medieval rabbinic literature, including many works listing or arranged by the mitzvot. The most famous of these was an enumeration of the 613 commandments by Maimonides. While the total number of commandments is 613, no individual can perform all of them. Many can only be observed at the Temple in Jerusalem, which no longer stands. According to one standard reckoning, there are 77 positive and 194 negative commandments that can be observed today, of which there are 26 commands that apply only within the Land of Israel. In addition, some commandments only apply to certain categories of Jews: some are only observed by kohanim, and others only by men or by women. (Wikipedia)
Strong's Concordance #23 Abiasaph: "my father has gathered," from 'ab and 'acaph; father of gathering (i.e. Gatherer); an Israelite name Original Word: אֲבִיאָסָף
Luke 6:13 When morning came, he called his disciples to him and chose twelve of them, whom he also designated apostles: Luke 6:14 Simon (whom he named Peter), his brother Andrew, James, John, Philip, Bartholomew, Luke 6:15 Matthew, Thomas, James son of Alphaeus, Simon who was called the Zealot, Luke 6:16 Judas son of James, and Judas Iscariot, who became a traitor. Luke 6:17 When they came down from the mountain, the disciples stood with Jesus on a large, level area, surrounded by many of his followers and by the crowds. There were people from all over Judea and from Jerusalem and from as far north as the seacoasts of Tyre and Sidon. Luke 6:19 Everyone tried to touch him, because healing power went out from him, and he healed everyone. Luke 6:20 Then Jesus turned to his disciples and said, “God blesses you who are poor, for the Kingdom of God is yours. Luke 6:21 God blesses you who are hungry now, for you will be satisfied. God blesses you who weep now, for in due time you will laugh. Luke 6:22 What blessings await you when people hate you and exclude you and mock you and curse you as evil because you follow the Son of Man. Luke 6:23 When that happens, be happy! Yes, leap for joy! For a great reward awaits you in heaven. And remember, their ancestors treated the ancient prophets that same way.
Matthew 13:47 “Again, the Kingdom of Heaven is like a fishing net that was thrown into the water and caught fish of every kind. Matthew 13:48 When the net was full, they dragged it up onto the shore, sat down, and sorted the good fish into crates, but threw the bad ones away. Matthew 13:49 That is the way it will be at the end of the world. The angels will come and separate the wicked people from the righteous, Matthew 13:50 throwing the wicked into the fiery furnace, where there will be weeping and gnashing of teeth.
TANAKH (Jewish Publication Society, Hebrew-English) Page 1: Genesis 1:3 God said, "Let there be light"; and there was light.
John 11:9 Jesus replied, “There are twelve hours of daylight every day. During the day people can walk safely. They can see because they have the light of this world.
TANAKH (Jewish Publication Society, Hebrew-English) Pages 124 and 125: Exodus 7:1 The Lord replied to Moses, "See, I place you in the role of God to Pharaoh, with your brother Aaron as your prophet. Exodus 7:2 You shall repeat all that I command you, and yuour brother Aaron shall speak to Pharaoh to let the Israelites dpart from his land. Exodus 7:3 But I will harden Pharaoh's heart, that I may multiply My signs and marvels in the land of Egypt. Exodus 7:4 When Pharaoh does not heed you, I will lay My hand upon Egypt and deliver My ranks, My people the Israelites, from the land of Egypt with extraordinary chastisements. Exodus 7:5 And the Egyptians shall know that I am the Lord, when I stretch out My hand over Egypt and bring out the Israelites from their midst."
Mark 4:1 Again Jesus began to teach by the lake. The crowd that gathered around him was so large that he got into a boat and sat in it out on the lake, while all the people were along the shore at the water’s edge. Mark 4:2 He taught them many things by parables, and in his teaching said: Mark 4:3 “Listen! A farmer went out to sow his seed. Mark 4:4 As he was scattering the seed, some fell along the path, and the birds came and ate it up. Mark 4:5 Some fell on rocky places, where it did not have much soil. It sprang up quickly, because the soil was shallow. Mark 4:6 But when the sun came up, the plants were scorched, and they withered because they had no root. Mark 4:7 Other seed fell among thorns, which grew up and choked the plants, so that they did not bear grain. Mark 4:8 Still other seed fell on good soil. It came up, grew and produced a crop, some multiplying thirty, some sixty, some a hundred times.” Mark 4:9 Then Jesus said, “Whoever has ears to hear, let them hear.” Mark 4:10 When he was alone, the Twelve and the others around him asked him about the parables. Mark 4:11 He told them, “The secret of the kingdom of God has been given to you. But to those on the outside everything is said in parables Mark 4:12 so that, “’they may be ever seeing but never perceiving, and ever hearing but never understanding; otherwise they might turn and be forgiven!’” Mark 4:13 Then Jesus said to them, “Don’t you understand this parable? How then will you understand any parable? Mark 4:14 The farmer plants seed by taking God’s word to others. Mark 4:15 Some people are like seed along the path, where the word is sown. As soon as they hear it, Satan comes and takes away the word that was sown in them. Mark 4:16 Others, like seed sown on rocky places, hear the word and at once receive it with joy. Mark 4:17 But since they don’t have deep roots, they don’t last long. They fall away as soon as they have problems or are persecuted for believing God’s word. Mark 4:18 The seed that fell among the thorns represents others who hear God’s word, Mark 4:19 but all too quickly the message is crowded out by the worries of this life, the lure of wealth, and the desire for other things, so no fruit is produced. Mark 4:20 And the seed that fell on good soil represents those who hear and accept God’s word and produce a harvest of thirty, sixty, or even a hundred times as much as had been planted!”
1 Corinthians 13:13 And now these three remain: faith, hope and love. But the greatest of these is love.

TANAKH (Jewish Publication Society, Hebrew-English) Pages 77, 78, and 79: Genesis 37:8 His brothers answered, "Do you mean to reign over us? Do you mean to rule over us?" And they hated him even more for his talk about his dreams. Genesis 37:9 He dreamed another dream and told it to his brothers, saying, "Look, I have had another dream: And this time, the sun, the moon, and eleven stars were bowing down to me." Genesis 37:10 And when he told it to his father and brothers, his father berated him. "What," he said to him, "is this dream you have dreamed? Are we to come, I and your mother and yhour brothers, and bow low to you to the ground?" Genesis 37:17 The man said, "They have gone from here, for I heard them say: Let us go to Dothan." So Joseph followed his brothers and found them at Dothan. Genesis 37:18 They saw him from afar, and before he came close to them they conspired to kill him. Genesis 37:19 They said to one another, "Here comes that dreamer! Genesis 37:20 Come now, let us kill him and throw him into one of the pits; and we can say, 'A savage beast devoured him.' We shall see what comes of his dreams!" Genesis 37:21 But when Reuben heard it, he tried to save him from them. He said, "Let us not take his life." Genesis 37:22 And Reuben went on, "Shed no blod! Cast him into that pit out in the wilderness, but do not touch him yourselves"--intending to save him from them and restore him to his father. Genesis 37:23 When Joseph came up to his brothers, they stripped Joseph of his tunic, the ornamented tunic that he was wearing, Genesis 37:24 and took him and cast him into the pit. The pit was empty; there was no water in it. Genesis 37:25 Then they sat down to a meal. Looking up, they saw a caravan of Ishmaelites coming from Gilead, their camels bearing gum, balm, and ladanum to be taken to Egypt. Genesis 37:26 Then Judah said to his brothers, "What do we gain by killing our brother and covering up his blood? Genesis 37:27 Come, let us sell him to the Ishmaelites, but let us not do away with him ourselves. After all, he is our brother, our own flesh." His brothers agreed. Genesis 37:28 When Midianite traders passed by, they pulled Joseph up out of the pit. They sold Joseph for twenty pieces of silver to the Ishmaelites, who brought Joseph to Egypt.

This is my quest to follow that star No matter how hopeless, no matter how far To fight for the right Without question or pause To be willing to march Into hell for a heavenly cause

“The universe has its way of forcing things upon you. If you've never experienced unconditional love, it will offer you this a few times in your life. Either it will be clear as day or it will be a blessing in disguise. If you keep saying 'no' due to unhealed family patters and old fear based wounds that cause a lack of selflove, one day it will stop passing by and you will have to carry the consequences of refusing to see beauty in tempory chaos. You deserve love, and that's the one lesson each and every one of us have in common.” ― Axelle Lioness
“Lucy buried her head in his mane to hide from his face. But there must have been magic in his mane. She could feel lion-strength going into her. Quite suddenly she sat up. If that same feline’s fangs are filed down to blunt, un-tearing teeth and her roar is silenced, can she still be called a lioness?” ― Kristen Reed, The Kings' Council

TANAKH (Jewish Publication Society, Hebrew-English) Pages 1796, 1797, and 1798: Esther 8:1 That very day King Ahasuerus gave the property of Haman, the enemy of the Jews, to Queen Esther. Mordecai presented himself to the king, for Esther had revealed how he was related to her. Esther 8:2 The king slipped off his ring, which he had taken back from Haman, and gave it to Mordecai; and Esther put Mordecai in charge of Haman's property. Esther 8:3 Esther spoke to the king again, falling at his feet and weeping, and beseeching him ot avert the evil plotted by Haman the Agagite against the Jews. Esther 8:4 The king extended the golden scepter to Esther, and Esther arose and stood before the king. Esther 8:5 "If it please Your Majesty," she said, "and if I have won your favor and the proposal seems right to Your Majesty, and if I am pleasing to you--let dispatches be written countermanding those which were written by Haman son of Hammedatha the Agagite, embodying his plot to annihilate the Jews throughout the king's provinces. Esther 8:6 For how can I bear to see the disaster wich will befall my people! And how can I bear to see the destruction of my kindred!" Esther 8:7 Then King Ahasuerus said to Queen Esther and Mordecai the Jew, "I have given Haman's property to Esther, and he has been impaled on the stake for scheming against the Jews. Esther 8:8 And you may further write with regard to the Jews as you see fit. [Write it] in the king's name and seal it with the king's signet, for an edict that has been written in the king's name and sealed with the king's signet may not be revoked." Esther 8:9 So the king's scribes were summoned at that time, on the twenty-third day of the third month, that is, the month of Sivan; and letters were written, at Mordecai's dictation, to the Jews and to the satraps, the governors and the officials of the one hundred and twenty-seven provinces from India to Ethiopia: to every province in its own script and to every people in its own language, and to the Jews in their own script and language. Esther 8:10 He had them written in the name of King Ahasuerus and sealed with the king's signet. Letters were dispatched by mounted couriers, riding steeds used in the king's service, bred of the royal stud, Esther 8:11 to this effect: The king has permitted the Jews of every city to assemble and fight for their lives; if any people or province attacks them, they may destroy, massacre, and exterminate its armed force together with women and hcildren, and plunder their possessions-- Esther 8:12 on a single day in all the provinces of King Ahasuerus, namely, on the thirteenth day of the twelfth month, that is, the month of Adar. Esther 8:13 The text of the document was to be issued as a law in every single province: it was to be publicly displayed to all the peoples, so that the Jews should be ready for that day to avenge themselves on their enemies.
TANAKH (Jewish Publication Society, Hebrew-English): Page 1810: Daniel 3:12 There are certain Jews whom you appointed to administer the province of Babylon, Shadrach, Meshach, and Abed-nego; those men pay no heed to you, O king: they do not serve your god or worship the statue of gold that you have set up." Daniel 3:13 The Nebuchadnezzar, in raging fury, ordered Shadrach, Mesach, and Abed-nego to be brought; so those men were brought before the king. Daniel 3:14 Nebuchadnezzar spoke to them and said, "is it true, Shadrach, Mesach, and Abed-nego, that you do not serve my god or worship the statue of gold that I have set up? Daniel 3:15 Now if you are ready to fall down and worship the statue that I have made when you hear the sound of the horn, pipe, zither, lyre, psaltery, and bagpipe, and all other types of instruments, [well and good]; but if you will not worship, you shall at once be thrown into a burning fiery furnace, and what god is there that can save you from my power?" Daniel 3:16 Shadrach, Mesach, and Abed-nego said in reply to the king, "O Nebuchadnezzar, we have no need to answer you in this matter, Daniel 3:17 for if so it must be, our God whom we serve is able to save us from the burning fiery furnace, and He will save us from your power, O king. Daniel 3:18 But even if He does not, be it known to you, O king, that we will not serve your god or worship the statue of gold that you have set up."

we read excerpts from 'hold your own' by kae tempest in place of the haftarah at shul on saturday because it was our pride shabbat and i am still stuck on 'hold their [your lover's] face in your palms like a prayer' bc it was in the section i was asked to read and i get really emo about like... actually having spiritual community that sees the divine in its gay and trans members. and about the service being led by a 70 year old gay man and a probably also around 70 year old butch lesbian, and the fact that they weren't just allowed to be there because it's pride. they're two of the foremost lay leaders of our congregation. they're constantly leading. and also another queer member came up and read the torah portion for us in yiddish bc she studies yiddish and its really not common in the london communities to hear it so its a special treat. and then afterwards getting to go have a picnic in the park across the street with a bunch of other trans/nb members and just hang out and vibe and feel safe wearing my kippah outside the shul because we were together. g-d it was just a good day and i love my community so much.

If beloved was a book lover, do you think Terry would have a library built for them in the house? (if he doesn’t already have one that is!) Are there any other sweet things you can imagine Terry doing for beloved? Just into some Terry fluff atm
Tumblr media
---
Terry has a private wine cellar, Terry has a private training gym, Terry has a private weapons and sword collection, he has a wide array of cars he seems to collect, so him having a private library is really a mundane fact of life in comparison of all the things he already owns. Why not? If beloved was an avid reader, his collection only expands and he goes to great lengths to acquire every edition of everything money can possibly buy and more. First editions? Rare tomes? Medieval manuscripts? Old medicinal notes? Historical pieces? Coveted hand illustrated articles? Spending a fortune for unique bits of literature only he has? Historical scrolls and decorative almanacs? Antique scriptures of extreme significance? If he can possibly make his library the most expansive one in the State of California and further then so be it, because it means beloved will browse his special and most unique collection curiously for hours and hours, and if they're too busy browsing under his roof, then hey, that is just another way he's tied them to himself. Means they're less likely to spend time anywhere else. He's lured the rabbit in with a scrumptious carrot.
And Terry doesn't quite care just how he acquires this treasure trove for his beloved. He'll make do by any means necessary, trust and believe. Investing copious amounts of cash? Having his secretaries haggle black market smugglers? Having someone downright steal things which are otherwise priceless and unsellable? If his beloved wants something, they ought to have it by sheer virtue of being his beloved. Even if they never expressed the desire that they need that 15th century Book of Hours, a 14 carat golden Torah scroll, a Korean fashion plate from the 30's or a 9th century Japanese Floral Lexicon, if Terry feels they should have it, they'll have it --- simple as. It belongs in a museum? No, it belongs with his person, and by extension, him and that's that on that. This is a man who is in possession of a Rembrandt thought missing for decades, after all. Moral values fly out the window when he is lavishing those who mean the world to him, and in gaging just what it is that makes beloved tick, he will legitimately hoard every valuable book into his collection and gift it all to beloved. All ten thousand tomes within his gallery.
Yet, the sweet things Terry can and will do when he loves someone don't end with a mere library or books. That is just the beginning. A bait. A method of seduction. An elaborate here is what I am offering you as a prelude when there is much, much more to come. The condition? Be mine, and the world is yours. That's the price. And Terry truly would make true of that promise seeing as how he has the tendency to give and then give some more when he is legitimately invested to the point where beloved themselves might have to intervene and express the desire for him to cease lavishing them quite so much. Sure, Terry might concede on the surface. He's a smooth and clever operator. And then he'll still proceed getting beloved that Victorian picture book that cost half a million dollars anyway. Or better yet, he'll act unflinchingly stubborn and convince them he intends to give it to them and they'll have it. Beloved better take it, because he's just as nonchalant about paying for it and then destroying it (might just do it in front of them to showcase what happens when his presents are rejected). If beloved won't accept it than it has very few reasons to exist.
