The many (Ph)Faces of Yandere Thorfinn (S1)

OOOOKayy, I once mentioned that I find Yandere! Thorfinn so tricky to write cause he got so many phases through his arc and is a deep character. Its so HARD for me to pinpoint him anywhere CAUSE THERE IS NO WAY TO PUT HIM INTO ARCHTYPES OR CATEGORY

I MUST WRITE HIM IN CHARACTER, I MUST!

Because - just like Shrek - my boy is an onion. He's got layers.

S1!Thorfinn:

This guy is a mess. He keeps his thoughts to himself but wears his heart on his sleeve yet unfortunately, it is all the negative emotions he shows.

He has not a single problem spouting out insults and demeaning words. Looking down on people who dont think like him.

Yet that is the only time he really talks to others. Only when he spits in their face becaus he truly does not make an effort to care for others.

To be fair the "others" are vikings, a coward prince and the murderer of his father.

Still, he does not care for titles or social cues and behavior. If he doesn't like you, he is actually quiet UNTIL you provoke an answer from him. Other than that, he does not share what he is REALLY thinking.

So, lovesickness from Yandere!S1! Thorfinn??? Not likely.

Lovesickness imo is straight up floating in dreamland. Fully accepting your feelings and basking in them. But Thorfinn being like that??? Nope.

The only times he'd feel even the slightest indications of love is when he is really, really, close to you - emotionally and physically.

If you are already close, some fluttering of your eyelashes and angelic smiles won't make him swoon (he'd think you're weird) but after carefully forming a bond...and interacting with him with the intention of care might.

*slams fist on a table* Thorfinn won't blink if you get close, put a hand on him or even gently tend to his wounds. He'd do the same because injuries need to be treated in a careful, gentle manner in order for them to heal. and not die It just makes SENSE.

But doing so and then ending the treatment with a brush of your thumb over the back of his hand, GENUINELY looking worried and telling him to be careful because you care- *GASP* it's gonna do something.

It's the sincerity. This utmost genuine display of...care. Someone WANTING him to be okay. WANTING him to...still live.

Suddenly he's left sweating and hot, his heart thumping against his chest it hurts. What is this?

He startles and backs off. The feeling is foreign and he kind of grows to hate it. Usually Thorfinn contains a calm and cool head (when he isnt blinded by his emotions) but this...state truly renders him frozen.

He might slowly accept these feelings...but acceptance for him means letting go of the irritation when he feels them. When he comes to the point where he finally hugs you out of his own will, he will still feel these heartthrobs but...will not protest.

The typical 'lovesickness' doesn't really exist in Thorfinn. Never will he gush and praise you but hold you close as his unreadable gaze never seems to shift from you. Thorfinn wears his heart on his sleeve but never reveals his inner thoughts.

Clingy and stalker??? Also kinda no? How is he supposed to stalk you when you eat, sleep and travel on the same ship?

Clingy though...well, perhaps. Not in a 'Don't part from me' way but more like a 'I GOTTA MAKE SURE U DONT DIE'

And unfortunately, anyone who isn't him is an enemy in his eyes.

He's not gonna...put an arm around you or show anyone that you 'belong' to him but he's more like a shadow or dog just...behind you. And looking angry at anything that isn't you >:(

Obsessive and possesive is also tricky because S1!Thorfinn would never, ever - in a million gajillion centuries - ever admit he is in love. HE WOULD NEVER REALIZE HE HAS FEELINGS FOR YOU NEVER

Bro is so stupid. So boyish and stubborn and emotional but so dense and his head as thick as lumber that he'd legit not realize his feelings. If he ever would, he'd refuse to believe it :(

Love??? Romance??? Whats that????

He would think about you...and wants to keep you safe...

You are all he really has, after all. But it still isn't anything near obsessive or possesive. He's kinda...refusing these feelings in a way.

He is very overprotective though 👍 yet that has little to do with delusion (which he also lacks) but more about paranoia in a way? He grew up alongside his father's murderer and the war he wages and there is you, right in the middle. His overprotectiveness makes sense in the environment you both are in.

But he does put it up a notch. Goes a full 200% with his overprotectinveness that literally ANYONE is a danger. If they are meek enough he just scares them away by literally standing behind you like a shadow (as if he was tall enough to overshadow anyone) and glares at them as if one wrong inhale will mean their death.

Anyone who touches you, invited or not, gets to meet his daggers :)

It could have been the most pleasant interaction you had but he dont care :) they gonna die

Bro only has two things in his brain: Askeladd and you.

Though he might be insistent on some things. How you are weak and he is strong, how you shouldn't trust that person and going alone in there is going to get you killed!

But none of these words are carefully picked to sway you - like the thick-headed idiot that he is, Thorfinn believes wholeheartedly all he says.

The young man is always honest. He may not share much but when he does it is always the truth in his eyes.

Sadism? HMMMMM

Maybe...but then, only the tiniest bit.

Everyone is his enemy. Yet he doesn't really bear any hatred for those that are not Askeladd.

Perhaps he will be more cruel to those that cause you harm. Prolonging their pain until he kills them. Though I think that kind of behavior of him would be 70% rage and 30% sadism.

There's a chance he might mock them as he slices their flesh slowly open.

It first starts off with threats - how dare they do this to you and how they better not ever get near you again. Never think of you, never speak your name or even breath the same air as you!

He's talking as if they are still capable of doing anything to you. Their legs have already been sliced so deep they cannot walk and Thorfinn's dagger is going in deeper and deeper as they beg for their life.

You'd think he'd be delusional there. Perhaps he is a bit...

But then it's like he snapped back to reality.

"But this is as far as you're going to go."

He slaughters them afterwards. While he does enjoy throwing out insults and threats before killing them, the fatal blow is done with utmost ire.

I can kinda imagine him as self-indulgent kinda?

Boy is uncaring and cold, very reserved. He wouldn't want to be- worhsipped or anything (its kinda embarrassing and weird?) but to have you dote on him?

Especially when he is tired or injured. Any kind of physical doting as he relaxes is really heehee nice

Might get soft but just a bit. He still doesn't say much but will definitely indulge in your care.

Will be a bit grumpy if you suddenly stop and purposefully lean his entire weight on you to stop you from leaving.

IF YOU LEAVE FOR ANOTHER PERSON TO LOOK AFTER/TALK TO OMG HE WILL ACTUALLY GLARE AT YOU

Thorfinn doesn't like it. To him it makes no sense why you'd need to be there for someone else when all that matters is you two. You have each other and no one else and this is how it's supposed to be.

Ok, now that I think about it, very hostile towards anyone that isn't you. Like...he actually INDULGES in the idea of only you two being here. In the world, all alone. No one else but you two.

He isn't delusional and actually BELIEVES you two to be sole survivors of everything you've gone through with the world being your playground...but the image is nice.

So no, he will not let you be with anyone else >:(

Will be more hostile to the third party then you but will also tell you to stay away from that troublemaker. Ew, look at them they aren't Thorfinn.

Kinda impulsive though. Yes, definitely. Anything that has him snap in a uhhhh violent way will be very impulsive and very bad for everyone unfortunately part of this.

It could be Askeladd, it could be a danger to you, it could be the mocking of his father - Thorfinn is easy to piss off and while his very first reaction is violence, the actions that he chooses to do right after may vary depending on the thing that made him snap.

You were hurt? Absolutely merciless as he destroys that person, no matter if bandmate or not.

Someone insulted you? They get their jaw broken with one fist.

Ok BUT - BUT BUT BUT ---- LISTEN, LISTEN!

A romantic gesture thrown at you from someone else? Uh oh.

Thorfinn doesn't really know how to react to that. He usually is more familiar with fighting and mocking. So seeing someone get close with a non-threatening intention is...different.

He knows one thing for sure though. It angers him.

Rendered frozen for a minute before he goes beserk of course.

Someone suddenly drawing you close? Hugging you? dshfpvnsdinsfbje what is the MEANING OF THIS!! WILL ABSOLUTELY GO BETWEEN YOU AND HOLD UP HIS DAGGER AT THEM

Giving you the most innocent of gifts such as flowers?

??? Whuat, what is this supposed to be???

Will take the flower from you and examine it, as if he could find anything wrong with it. DUde, its a flower.

Will clutch it tight in his hands, destroying the petals before throwing it on the ground. Such a...useless thing.

Definitely confused by all these gestures and is more perplexed by this tightening grip he feels in his heart. It...hurts and he is vexed...but thinking about it also...painful and vexing. So he doesn't.

Thorfinn doesn't reflect on his emotions and instead just acts upon them.

So YEAH LOVESICK? NO

Raph met you on a solo mission retrieving a piece of Shredder's armour.

it was an important mission for you, as you were trying to prove yourself to be worthy of a promotion within the foot clan.

unfortunately, you quickly realized the piece wasn't there after all, it was a trap set by Big Mama

Raph didn't see you as a friend, but it was clear you both held a distrust for the spider and so he put his feelings for the foot aside and worked with you to get away. you made a pretty amazing pair to be honest, but neither of you would admit that.

you two end up on a roof blocks away, and as the relief wears off you're left with the frustration of missing out on this promotion. you don't really know why you spill your guts to the turtle but you do, telling him how frustrated you are over the whole thing.

and Raph doesn't know why he listens, but he does. he goes so far as to try and comfort you, telling you that from what he saw during your fight you were an amazing fighter, and that if the foot clan didn't recognize that then it was their problem.

sitting on that roof, you began to realize that you actually really liked Raph's company, and instead of parting ways right there you asked if he'd join you for a trip to your favorite diner.

this becomes a habit for the two of you and both of you know it's a bad idea to befriend the enemy, but neither of you can help it!

Raph is careful with certain details, never telling you where he and his brothers live or what they're up to, but he's very vulnerable in just about every other area. it's nice to have someone to talk to about his worries and his hopes, and it's even nicer knowing that you're actually listening, not just pretending.

as friends, he feels like he can handle hiding things pretty well. his brothers don't need to know that he's accidentally befriended the enemy. but as things get more serious with the threat of the Shredder, it becomes harder for Raph to constantly face you in fights - especially knowing that the Shredder's armor is getting closer and closer to being finished. the Shredder may have been the head of the foot clan once upon a time, but Raph worries that once it's released, the Shredder won't hold any true alliance to the foot clan, which means there's no guarantee you won't get hurt.

he starts asking you to leave the foot whenever you guys meet up, making it clear that while he'll always be your friend, he fears he won't be able to protect you once the shredder is unleashed. you don't think there's anything to worry about, and every time Raph tries to get you to leave you turn him down.

you genuinely love Raph's presence in your life, but you're loyal to the foot and you can't imagine leaving it for anyone. sometimes though, the worry in his face gets to you, and for the first time in your life you can't help but wonder if you're doing the right thing being with the foot

you want advice, but you don't exactly have anyone to turn to. the people you trust most are even more loyal to the foot than even you, you know that if you ask they'll tell you to stay. but even if they were capable of being objective, no one in the clan knows that you've befriended Raph, and for good reason.

you can't imagine that your friendship would be accepted in the eyes of the foot, and you don't want to find out what could happen if you told them. in the same way Raph's kept your friendship secret from his family, you're keeping the secret from yours.

it isn't easy, though. questions arise whenever you head out on your own, and you can only use the patrol excuse so many times before eyebrows start getting raised.

it's even worse if there's romantic feelings involved. it's a mutual crush that neither of you are willing to acknowledge because you both know that will just make things harder. it's easier to ignore the romance budding between you guys and act like everything's fine.

on Raph's side of things, Leo picks up pretty quickly on the fact that his big brother is into someone and starts snooping, but you and Raph manage to avoid his prying eyes.

your friendship becomes strained as your crushes grow with the threat of the Shredder looming over you, and it results in the two of you spending less and less time together.

until the Shredder is finally unleashed, that is. and much to your horror, you realized that maybe Raph had been right to worry about it.

the armor is even darker and more dangerous than you'd expected, and you can't help but worry that you and the foot have really made a mistake bringing the Shredder back.

things really come to a head when Draxum and Splinter are caught by the Shredder, and when Splinter gets used for his Hamato nimpō. you know how much Raph loves his family and you realize that you love him too much to just watch this all take place.

you and Cassandra are put in charge of guarding Splinter, and against your better judgement you confess to them both that you've been hanging out with Raph and that it's complicated your feelings for the clan.

surprisingly, Cassandra tells you that your first loyalty should be to your heart. and that really is enough to help you make your decision.

when the turtles arrive to defeat the Shredder, you decide to help them, severing your ties to the foot for good. Raph couldn't be happier by your choice, and Leo is relieved to finally have an answer to who his brother's been sneaking around seeing.

you all win the final battle, and you take this as your chance to start a new life, this time with an alliance to the Hamato clan instead of the foot.

and you and Raph can finally hang out without feeling the need to hide, which is a really good feeling for you both.

if you're crushing on each other, i hate to tell you this but Leo is constantly teasing you both about it. he tells Donnie and Mikey that you and Raph have a thing for each other and the three of them are relentless trying to get you two together.

Raph, naturally, is annoyed with their antics. but the three of them do set up a very sweet date night and Raph does confess his feelings, so the teasing works out in the end.

Leo! 💙

you meet the turtles during an unexpected run-in while you and other foot soldiers are training, and you can't really explain how you became friends with Leo.

because he was so annoying, okay? he's cocky and he's arrogant and you want to knock him down a peg but that's hard to do when he can walk the walk and talk the talk.

Leo knows you're annoyed by him and that's why he focuses in on you. you're hit with the one-liners every time you guys square off and your utter frustration with his cheesy words always makes Leo giggle.

you guys go on like this for a few months, but the vibes change one day when you stumble across the turtle alone in the afternoon.

you were just out clearing your mind and decided that hiding out on a rooftop would get you the peace and quiet you were looking for.

but you get up there and you'll never guess who also happens to be on the roof, of all the roofs in new york city.

you're not sure if you want to leave or scream or strange the turtle upon first spotting him, but you decide against all three when you realize that Leo is injured.

he insists that the cut is worse than it looks, and that sometimes even after all these years, training with a blade can get you pretty ugly injuries.

you don't know why you offer to help him, but he doesn't accept. turns out, he's a pretty good medic and patches himself up with a practiced ease.

he does, however, ask you to stay on the roof with him. he doesn't want to worry his brothers with his cut but he doesn't exactly want to be alone either. and you should say no, but you don't.

it's a weird time. you guys talk and Leo is still sort of a dork with his stupid jokes but it's different. he's different, a more genuine, more vulnerable version of your personal worst enemy, and you don't exactly hate it.

but you guys are not friends, okay? you're not, you insist. it doesn't matter that you and Leo start bumping into each other more and more on rooftops. it doesn't matter that you let him help patch up your wounds whenever you get hurt. it doesn't matter if you guys start hanging out on the ground as well as on roofs.

it matters a little bit, actually. but you're sworn to the foot clan and you're not about to let people know that you're hanging out with a member of the Hamato clan, no thank you.

Leo, on the other hand, has no problem telling people that you two are most definitely besties.

he sees you in fights and is all "omg hey bestie!!!! what's up!!!!!!!" and you contemplate murder every time.

you would never though, because unfortunately for you you've grown attached to this absolute clown.

yes he's insufferable and a fool but he's understanding and makes you happy. and even though Leo's let approximately every single living thing in new york know that you're hanging out, you haven't been punished or kicked out of the foot, so slowly you start to be more open about the friendship too.

Foot Lieutenant and Foot Brute do sit you down and make sure that your loyalty to the clan hasn't been affected, and when they're satisfied with your responses they let it go.

you're relieved honestly, because when you're not training these days all you want to do is hang out with your best friend and it's so much easier now that you're not hiding all the time.

if we're taking the platonic route, things continue on like this. Leo doesn't push you to leave the foot and you don't feel the need to. if the turtles get caught up with other villains in the mystic city, you sometimes help them out. it's a strange and surprising friendship to everyone watching from the outside looking in, but you and Leo are fine with the system you've worked out.

things are a little different if romantic feelings get involved, though.

you're very aware of your crush, admittedly, but you struggled confessing to be friends, confessing to this would be so much worse.

and it doesn't help that Leo is absolutely blind to his own crushes. that guy can clock anyone with a crush in a ten-mile radius but when it comes to himself? he's oblivious for the longest time.

but then one day he just realizes out of the blue, and it makes him panic a little. befriending the enemy is one thing, but falling in love??? what is he supposed to do with that???????

you two never really talk about it, but you both know there's something there. and it makes everything weird for a while.

your crush pushes you away from the foot a little. you're still affiliated with them, and are still very much a foot soldier, but you drop in a lot less often in an effort to avoid facing the turtles in any fights.

you and Leo are a little like Batman and Catwoman and i could elaborate but then we'd be here forever.

the years pass and you two are just in this fun little flirtationship and you both act like you're fine with it but you're also both definitely pining over each other.

Mikey, Donnie, Raph, and Cass have a running bet over whether or not the two of you will ever take the next step. Donnie and Cass are convinced you won't.

you were in the junkyard looking for an old artifact Foot Lieutenant asked for. Donnie was in the junkyard looking for some bits and pieces for a new project. it's the first time you've ever seen one of the turtles outside of a fight and all you can think is that this one is such a fucking dork.

he's over there muttering excitedly to himself and you're simply too fascinated to worry about artifacts so you slide your way over and ask him what he's doing.

initially Donnie doesn't want to tell you anything because you're the enemy, but you flat out tell him you're on a wild goose chase for some old piece of junk and that you're a little convinced this thing isn't even real. you've searched so many different locations for it, several other soldiers have, and every time you each come back empty-handed.

you already know you're not going to find it tonight, so you tell the turtle you're more interested in bothering him.

he's still suspicious, but he slowly starts telling you about some top-secret project he's trying to finish and how he's looking for some pieces to help bring the project together.

do you know what half of the words he's saying mean? no. but you listen intently and he seems happy to have an extra pair of ears to listen to him because within half an hour he's full-on rambling about his plans and thoughts and you're genuinely loving every minute of it.

by the time Donnie calls it a night, he's accepted you as an unexpected new friend, even if you're a foot soldier. he asks if you'd like to meet up in the dump the next week and look for more stuff together, and you happily agree.

it becomes a thing between you two. you'll pick through dumps and junkyards looking for old tech or scrap bits. sometimes Donnie rants about his struggles with his family, sometimes you rant about feeling lost in the foot clan. it's strange to feel like you have so much in common with someone you're supposed to consider an enemy, but Donnie makes you feel seen and heard, and you do the same to him. in spite of everything, you both are bonded in a way you don't have words for.

Donnie doesn't intend to tell anyone, worried that his family wouldn't understand, but one night after hanging out with you he returns to the lair and finds April waiting for him. she'd come to ask him for homework help earlier in the night and was told he was in the junkyard, and ended up catching the two of you together.

naturally she demands to know everything about you, and asks Donnie if he's aware you're in the foot clan. he tells her that he doesn't care, because you're his friend and even if your clans are at war it doesn't mean he and you have to be at war too.

if he's crushing on you, April clocks it immediately.

regardless of romantic feelings, she demands to meet you and when she does she interrogates you for the longest before deciding that you're okay. you and April end up becoming friends too, and the three of you hang out whenever possible.

you keep it a secret from the foot because you already struggle with feeling like you belong there and fear that your friendship with Donnie will finally give the foot a reason to get rid of you.

you guys live like this for the next couple of years, it's not the most ideal thing ever but you make it work and it's fine.

remember that artifact though?? because after a couple of years it finally gets found.

you don't remember a lot about the krang invasion. they possessed you right off the bat with the rest of the foot clan and infected your brain.

the entire invasion was traumatizing to Donnie, but the aftermath was even worse in some ways - especially when he found you.

regardless of whether there's romantic feelings involved, Donnie is determined to save you, and brings you to the lair to work on an antidote.

of course, he's able to get it worked out after a few days of trial and error, and you’re the first person he administers the antidote.

if we’re going the romantic route, the moment you regain consciousness he celebrates by wrapping you up in his arms and telling you that he loves you.

it’s maybe not the most romantic setup, but he’s almost lost way too many people and time’s too valuable to waste. and he’s been harboring these feelings for a long time, he’s just never found the right moment to share those feelings.

Donnie’s learned after the whole invasion thing that right moments don’t mean shit, and he’s not willing to let another moment pass.

in the platonic version, you wake up and get pulled into a long, crushing hug by Donnie. he’s relieved to know his best friend is back, and whether you like it or not you’re kept in the lab for a few days so Donnie can monitor your condition.

once you’re feeling better, you make the decision to leave the foot clan. it’s tainted for you now, you don’t want anything to do with them anymore.

these days, you run with the hamato clan, training with them and making a new life with yourself.

and of course, you still make time for those weekly junkyard trips with Donnie.

Mikey! 🧡

you bump into Mikey while the turtle was topside painting a mural. you’re just going on a one-person mission to pick up lunch for some of the other members of the foot clan, so it doesn’t seem like a bad idea to stay and watch him work.

Mikey doesn’t even notice you until he happens to turn around by chance and catches you.

after a brief but intense questioning, he deems you harmless and lets you watch while the two of you chat. you tell him what you’re supposed to be doing and confess that you’re less than thrilled to be handling so many orders on your own.

it doesn’t sound right to Mikey, so he goes along with you and helps you pick up the orders. normally he wouldn’t try and help the enemy, but he figures this can be the exception. it’s not like he’s helping you do something bad, you know? it’s just lunch!

and after you deliver it all, you spot Mikey hiding nearby gesturing to you to come over so you two could eat lunch together.

and that’s where it all starts with you two. you start seeking Mikey out to watch him paint, and you’ll usually grab a bite to eat before parting ways again. it’s nothing much, but you guys fall into a nice little routine there.

for a long time, it’s not really a friendship. you two are more friendly acquaintances, neither of you certain how to become friends considering the rivalry between the foot and hamato clans.

it takes a few months for you two to become friends, but it’s inevitable really - you two spend so much time together, and you get along surprisingly well despite everything. it takes you both by surprise but you welcome the friendship.

Mikey welcomes it too, it’s nice to make a new friend and he really loves spending time with you.

the both of you decide to keep the friendship a secret, not wanting to complicate things with input from your friends and family.

anytime the two of you find yourself in a fight, you both just avoid each other. it works well enough, but you have to admit that you don’t feel particularly great fighting your best friend’s brothers either.

it’s even harder if you’re crushing on him. you just love Mikey, how can you love him and then turn around and attack his brothers? it’s not right, but you don’t want to leave the foot clan.

and Mikey doesn’t love seeing his crush fighting his family either. he doesn’t want to ask you to leave the foot, because he’s worried you’ll come to resent him for it, but he doesn’t know what to do.

your friendship becomes strained under the pressure of your combined worries, but things snap when Foot Lieutenant and Foot Brute catch you and Mikey hanging out.

they’re absolutely enraged, and question you for hours about how long you’ve been hanging out and what you’ve shared with him.

you insist that you haven’t shared anything to ruin the integrity of the foot, but it’s ultimately not enough to convince your higher-ups, and you’re kicked out of the foot clan.

upset, you lash out at Mikey and stop talking to him for a little while. you decide to forget all about the turtles and the foot, and move on with your life.

the two of you decide to try again, staring over and rebuilding your friendship in the open. it’s nice to get to know Mikey’s friends and family members this time around, and you can’t help but feel like your friendship is a lot stronger this time around.

pq2 thoughts after finishing it!:

i think. it is a g. game. it is a persona game i will admit!

no but srs i think its good if youve never played a persona game which i assume is why its on 3ds only. it really does feel like discount persona with all of the last three cast thrown in? and some of the gameplay improvements (this game's gameplay aged better than fes and p2's LMAOO) i guess its a compromise to reach fans who've never actually played the main games cause they dont own a playstation console or something.

at the same time it makes no sense for "new fans" to play because you need at least some background knowledge of the prev characters and plot to care.

in my case i knew everything abt p3 and p5, only osmosis knowledge of the plot of p4 so i ended up using the p4 cast the least in my playthrough :( so theres that. not worth playing if u dont care abt the other casts imo

...so we agree the characters are the selling point here, its advertised as a mega crossover and whatever but. people complaining that theyre "watered down" to base traits or even traits they didnt have in the first place are Right LOL except for a scant few characters who get a lot of expansion. but for the most part none of them are themselves (like yusuke... 😔.... akihiko.... aki not as bad as yusuke but they have the same writing problem)

no one expects the characters to rly individually shine when theres so many ofc, the game even pokes fun at the "limited screen time" joke but like. what else is there to this? 🤔 well

character interactions! those were good. everyone expected detective princes meetup to be really great but i loved the other pairs like haru and mitsuru (heirs with distant dads...), and the PQ OC girl with futaba :] (introvert friends!!)(theyre like sucrose and collei in this year's windblume if you go there)

speaking of akechi though. yea he's part of the list of characters that surprisingly did not get butchered and in fact expanded upon in this game. aside from akechi it's P3 FeMC.

others i liked were P5 MC (his dialogue choices are SO out there), shinjiro aragaki, ken amada, yukiko amagi maybe yosuke hanamura and P4MC but their personalities just stayed the same instead of getting possible new insight?

i liked velvet room guys too theyre goated frfr! yes including marie. even i was surprised (probably cause akechi gets to poke fun at her and the twins hdjdhdhd)(cute)

i cant put P3 male MC anywhere cause i will always be biased towards him 😔🫰 (he was great btw)

but the crow character expansion in particular intrigued me and leads me to accept this game as canon like some ATLUS USA reps intended. akechi: stripped away of his obligations is a cunning, introspective and overall respectable young man and the game showcased all of his core traits well. he purposefully isolates himself from the main group and gets called out on it, consistently is the one that makes the most sense in discussions, gets various little moe moments... he honestly seems like he doesnt know what to make of all this forced bonding with strangers but he cant help to indulge anyway. 😭 he's vocal in discussions about their plans but a passive :) face in the background during fun moments until he's addressed or curious. the way he furthers the narrative along like they wouldnt get as far as they did without him i feel. but between all of that he was the main character to me.

the end scene where he seems regretful that he has to leave and go back to his revenge plot.... hurts. because for all intents and purposes we just saw akechi if he didnt have all that baggage and was just allowed to exist as himself. a smart guy with a whole life ahead of him. but he didnt choose that.

oh god that emoji is huge but anyway. FeMC!! ^_^ the problems of toxic positivity being addressed in her arc was great. they really tried to give her as much love as possible without being too happy (persona games tend to make their characters suffer anyway to even things out) and it was great! her writing reminds me of kasumire's mental illness but with less romance tease pandering.

ah yes and the obligatory Persona side game OC... hikari and nagi. honestly wished they didnt exist as much as i liked hikari's thing 😔 it got old and outright cringe man im sorry like surely the devs could come up with something better than this?? way to not explain enlil and mess with the in-universe power scaling too LMAO. 2/10 is being generous!

anyway its a fairly short game in persona standards so i cant really say it's time wasted when i got so many character interaction crumbs..... i guess i lucked out by liking the characters that i do instead of ones that kinda got shafted in this. (except for aki but 😔 i just kinda accepted his blown out of proportions awkwardness outside of P3)

warning - this is a little bit messy post. I have a hard time to focus about one topic. i just want to talking for a little bit there before next episode.

You know what? I kinda still on board about “episode 8 was about “jumping the shark” in term of torture that was going on in the episode and what topics and HOW they analyse those topics. And after some time after the last episode i thing that we in another land of “dark and pretty mature topics, that we start in the series, but never go further in this topic” or “we skip the progress because we dont have enough time in this season for this topic” or EVEN WORST IMHO,“we start this topic but after we start it we was thinking that this topic was not…that interesting”.

Yeah this thing was always there with not only some serious subjects, but just in general plot points. I know, but i was thinking more specifically about heavy subjects in the plot or in the character progression.We never analyze fully Yang losing her arm, prosthetic and the fact that Blake ran away right after she saved her because we want to show RNJR traveling more. Those nice moments from the start of the volume 4? Oh Yang just wear her prosthetic in the next episode in which she appears! Weiss and Yang have a talk in volume 5? Its will be about Weiss family and most of information, that we already knew! This scene from volume 6 in episode 5 with Blake “i will protect you” that you really like and want to see more stuff like this? Naaaa, we will not progress this and just skip into flirting and fighting with ex! Even worst - with prosthetic part we will got this…pretty strange thing about “this is just extra parts, nothing more” and this whole…thing with Ironwood.

Speaking about Ironwood - we will never analyze his progress because we will…just jump into cartoon villain and give him even cartoony spotlight. His prosthetic if about him being a villain and losing humanity. His trauma after Beacon fall will never be analyse or will just skip right into him be “uhhh im evilll and will bomb everything”.

The racism allegory cant have something more because “i mean we was young at that time when we start writing this show". Im understand when you admit that this is was to hard topic to write about, when you young writer, a lot of young artist-writers do mistake like this. But after that admission this topic just…just evolved into something really strange after multiple season and then this topic kinda got dropt and now we have this whole “You can be human…or just a cat, if u want”.

It hasn’t evolved into something better because writers have gained new experience and knowledge over time, its just evolved into something strange.

We will not fully analyse this whole thing with Ospin and him not able to die fully and have to living in other people’s bodies, mixing his consciousness with someone else’s because oh boy this guy do not know how to stop the main villain! Yang is trying to find the answer to the question of why her biological mother left her will also abrupt end and the last time we saw Raven was in volume 5. 5 years ago.

Weiss family problem also got pretty fast progress - She arrest her father in one episode and didnt fell anything about arresting a person, who emotion manipulate her throughout her childhood. No questing “do i do the right thing?” or even happy that “he finally got what he deserve, now my family free from him”. Its just happens and thats all.

We never will fully progress about Penny death in volume 3. She will just,,,got back and everybody will just a little bit surprise and thing that this is “strangle wholesome”.~ “BUT WAIT” will you say. “WHAT ABOUT VOLUME 9?”. Oh this? Oh yeah we will just put her grieving moment right in between Yang “high five” and Weiss rock joke and nobody in cast will talk about this forward. We will got only one scene with Weiss saying that “i know that was A LOT to hear” and Blake be like “are you sure this is good idea” after Ruby gave Penny sword to Toy Soldiers. Also scene from latest episode, but im not sure i can count this one because…this is not something that was…coming from Ruby? Like this is not her in a Herbalist drug therapy session, this is not like Ruby run away and got into something, that work like ponder storm. This is Neo talking via Penny. This is not Ruby talking with herself or Ever After react like this because of her intense emotion (raining because someone sad). This is just Neo. This is not a metaphore for how depression can sometime fuck your brain pretty badly, because again - you can do this without Neo revenge part. There is maybe chance there will be something more, but im not sure sight we have only two episodes left and the timing of the episodes never reached 40 minutes. You can maybe have Jaune having a problems after Pyrrha pass away and him “helping” Penny, but you cant have the same with the main characters or even if they can have something like this - this is never go into to deep or dont go for to long.

Also about Rudy and her finally getting progress in her emotion state - yeah you also cant have this. You cant have Rudy analyse by herself what she done and try to work with those mistakes - you HAVE to have Neo talking via people, who Rudy knew or hurt one way and another, even if half of the people Neo probably dont know. You cant make her “fall” without having a metaphoricaly make Rudy kh. No matter what “drinking tea” will evolved into (new Rudy, Evil Rudy, just her teleport back into Remnant, meet a Summer who will motivate her to be a huntresses again, transform into Summer and other theories that i can’t guess or don’t remember right now) - they decide that the best way to make Rudy go through depression, anger, guilt is make her extremely suicidal and drink some tea. Also her weapon, that she was scared to even hold in episode 7? Yeah she can how shot and not even flinch.All those interestings, but pretty heavy topics is there, but also…not there.

You want to touch some topics, but hesitate to go through those topic fully because OH WAIT WE ALSO HAVE ALL THOSE THING GOING ON IN OUR SHOW OH WAIT ITS THE LAST EPISODE!

This is only the stuff that i remember rn. Death, reincarnation, depression, PTSD, losing someone and grieve, topic about prosthetic and being disabled, abusive family or partner, racism and other heavy topics,

There is…so many interesting stuff in this show, so many interesting details that you can analyse and topics, that you can progress EVEN when the main plot is still there about “fight with a big bad evil guy”. Even with all issues i have with this show (or with company, but this post is not about this), i cant stop be amaze how there is enough potential and things that can inspire you to do something, no matter if its “””just””” fanfic about some of your favorit ship or something that help you to find out what you want to see in your project. This show is absolutely a big mess sometime, its getting better in one part but then fall apart in other part but because those good part and potentials is there you cant just stop watching. I’ve been with this fandom since the red trailer and everytime this show is amaze me how mess is sometime can be and how it can just…drop something extremely interesting or even personal favorite stuff. This show is inspiring me A LOT and made me love animation, but its also sometime make me fucking scream, stop the episode and leave the room because “ARE THEY FUCKING SERIOUSLY OMG . :””D

So u know the post about what number u hate? Well i have very strong opinions about all numbers, but ill bring them down to how can anyone hate any one digit nunber?

0- its just so shaped. Its just vibin and most people even forget he exists but this little guy is literally the center of the universe

1- dude. Hes the og. Like everyone starts to learn numbers with him. How can u not like him

2- oh youre gonna hate on the first even number? Why? To be quirky? Everyone loves even numbers and he is the first (except u count 0 even tho there a bit of a debate on whether or not 0 is even or odd but were not getting into that now)

3- like, u could hate on him for being the first odd number (not counting one), but 3 feels like a fun number. Like i personally really like the 3 multiplication table. Its just so nice, specially 3x5. It just feels right

4- i loooove every single member of the 2^n family. They are the cool kids that know they are cool and everyone knows they are cool

5- it’s literally the honorary even number. It is the cool kid that gets along with everyone (even and odds). It is the guy that always says hi to everyone in the room even if u dont really talk to him. He is wht the people that say they are cool think they are

6- hes not the coolest number, ill admit that. But its trying its best. U can see how he did his best to keep thing simple and chill for everyone. Also he is kinda the basis or time (sure u can say time is based around 12, but 12 is just 6x2 so its really based on 6)

7- go ahead. Hate on him just to go with the flow. Not knowing the 7 multiplication table is a u problem not his. 7 has been there for me my whole life and i love his table. 7x7 being 49 is just like music but with numbers (also im kinda biased cuz it was like one of the first multiplications table i learned cuz i wanted to prove i was better at math than anyone in my classes so i went after the hardest one first)

8- its a zero with a belt on. It is so friend shaped. This number is so well designed u cant hate on him for any reason (also part of the 2^n family wich i have stated i am a big fan of)

9- nine is almost perfection. The thing when u write 0-9 on one column and 9-0 on the column next to it and it forma the whole multiplication table -chefs kiss-

You shove your thought and focus on what Maria said, " y/n are you there, hey! " maria taps your shoulder, " yeah yeah " " well are you coming this afternoon ? you've been overthinking again about what will happened on the lake, maybe ellie is there? probably not. sure you've seen ellie sometimes, on the stables or just at the street but you two never talk nor made eye contact, whenever she sees you, she would be aggressive and walk away. Your thoughts were cut by seeing the clock, telling you to dress up and go to the lake. You sat up from your bed and walk towards the closet, hmm what should i wear? seeing a simple navy blue dress, you put it on and walk towards the mirror, tying your hair into a braid and wore flats, you look at the mirror for the last time. alright dont act stupid again. you thought to yourself and walk towards the door, heading to the lake now. - lake - As you arrived, you see a lot of young people chattering. some are already drunk and some are making out. pssh. you continue to look around and spotted ellie leaning against a tree while drinking something, she made eye contact but you immediately look away, remembering the kiss while you both have an argument. damn it stop it. you walked towards the table to find something to drink when dina startled you. " ellie mutters and smash her fist at the guy's face again. elton laughs while touching his cheeks, realizing it bleeds. he then look at you and said, " so who's this? your saviour? a dyke? very funny. a bitch like her is not worth it for y-" you interrupt him by slapping his face. " before he could smash his fist to yours, ellie immediately block you, punching her instead. ellie stumbles backwards but manage to smash her fist against elton's face leading elton to drop on the floor. This is my attempt at the Fluff ABCs for Frankie the Undead. Please be gentle with criticism because I cry easily. I’ve taken some ideas from @lovestruck-lasagna.

A = Admiration (what do they absolutely adore about you?)

Your dry sense of humor. It perfectly matches his insults and he doesn’t have to go out of his way to make you laugh. He just says what he’s thinking and you laugh and agree.

B = Body (what is their favorite part of your body?)

Frankie appreciates a good smile, and for many reasons. He learned to read smiles (fake vs real) early on and uses it to gauge people, so he pays particular attention by default. He’s a sucker for cute dimples, and loves the way your nose scrunches and your eyes close.

C = Cuddling (how do they like to cuddle?)

He loves late at night when you share the couch and he can read a good book, sip on some whiskey, or puff on a cigar. He really doesn’t care what you’re doing, he can tune out the TV or you prattling on about your day and make comments to show he’s listening. Put your feet in his lap, lay on top of him, make yourselves mummies in blankets, so long as he can reach his glass he doesn’t care. He just wants to be with you.

D = Dates (what does their ideal date with you look like?)

Stay in date nights are his favorite. He doesn’t really like to “share” your attention. He likes to either cook a meal together or order takeout and watch a movie. Particularly black and white gangster ones, or older horror films. Likes to tease you if you get scared and grab onto him. He’ll pat your head and say something like “oh there there, don’t be scared! I won’t let the big, bad monster getcha!” (Like your neighbor isn’t a 7 ft tall children murdering clown demon) If you go out, he prefers less crowded places outdoors.

E = Emotions (how do they express emotion around you?)

He’s a spitfire and he knows it. He tends to explode and then after a few minutes apologizes gruffly and explains himself. “WHY WERE YA OUT UNTIL MIDNIGHT, THATS SUCH A STUPID THING TO DO!” “Sorry, Frankie.” “…… ugh just, please get home earlier from now on. It’s dangerous and I worry about you.” Definitely doesn’t hug you close so you don’t see the relief and worry on his face. Nope!

F = Family (do they want one? If they do, when?)

He misses Amy desperately. He wants a little girl in his life again, although he’ll never ever admit it. He’s hesitant to make relationships because he doesn’t want to be hurt again. But, if you go out with him to the living world, you’ll catch him staring longingly at parents and daughters when he thinks you’re not looking. If you ask him what he’s looking at, he’ll shake his head and spit out a line about children being obnoxious but you can tell he’s blowing smoke.

G = Gifts (how do they feel about gift giving? What are their habits when it comes to this?)

If the underworld wasn’t so dangerous, he’d love to drape you in the finest silks with diamonds and rubies dripping off of you. However he doesn’t want you to draw any unnecessary attention to yourself. So, he settles for things you don’t really see in public. He also doesn’t like to be found out about it. Your gas tank is filled, the bill you were worried about has mysteriously been paid, your favorite ice cream is in your freezer when you know you ate the last of it yesterday, and hey, didn’t you spend this $20? Why is it in your wallet? If you ever bring it up he’ll just shrug and say “How strange!”

H = Holding Hands (when/how do they like to hold hands?)

He’s torn about PDA because he doesn’t want you to become a target because you’re associated with him, and people stare at him enough because of his appearance. But on the other hand, he wants to show the world that someone as worthless as him (don’t say that we love you Frankie) has such an amazing person that loves him. Will absolutely grab you and passionately make out with you with one hand on your ass and the other flipping the bird to the cheeky bastard that told the broad beside him to watch out for the zombie.

I = Injury (how would they act if you got hurt?)

Panic. Sheer panic. He’s so afraid to lose you, any injury is serious and cause for alarm.

Frankie:*bursting into a hospital lobby, screaming to be taken to f/n l/n immediately**running in the opposite direction the nurse pointed in panic**bursts into exam room 30 seconds later* “Y/N!!!!! I came as soon as I got the message, WHATS WRONG!!!”

You: *sitting on the table, reading phone* “Oh, I have a sprained ankle and they don’t want me to drive so can you give me a ride?”

Frankie:*slowly blinking* “Uh, yeah no problem…”

You: “lemme guess, you heard my name and hospital in the same sentence and ignored everything else.”

Frankie:*hanging his head* “go wait in the car, I’ll go apologize….”

J = Jokes (do they like to joke around with or prank you? how?)

Not actual jokes, but he loves to sit with you and insult people. He’s an incredibly sweet person to you, but no one else. (Except service people, like nurses and waitresses. Just the general public) he doesn’t think pranks are funny or practical, which is one of the many reasons he and LJ butt heads. If LJ or Will prank you or him, he’s raising hell.

K = Kisses (how do they like to kiss you?)

Love kissing your lips. He’s actually really self conscious about his mouth stitches and constantly frets they feel weird to you. Neck kisses are another favorite and are extremely private to him. He also likes to hold the back of your hand against his lips and tell you what he’s thinking, no matter how mundane. Kiss his stitches. Please. Just do it.

L = Love (how do they show you they love you?)

He has trouble saying it to your face. He’ll whisper it to you when he thinks you’re sleeping, and he’s been known to leave little notes around for you to find. He thinks protecting you is the best way to show he cares.

M = Memory (favorite memory together?)

The day you finally broke down and told him you loved him. He knew as soon as he looked into your eyes and saw your smile his goose was cooked. He was very abrasive and hoping against hope that you’d leave him be. He knew you deserved better. He was so afraid to build a relationship and love again, he wanted to distance himself and if he was an asshole to you, it would be justified and you’d do it on your own. What he didn’t expect is for you to be so kind to him. Upon your initial meeting, he had been a little harsh, but helped you (if there’s enough interest I’ll do a fic about it) and so when he subsequently was a jerk to you, you were curious and determined to find out what he was hiding. He finally had been mean enough to make you cry. He had never regretted something he did before. He immediately wanted to cradle you to him and beg your forgiveness. Normally when he insulted you, you’d have a snarky retort in reply. But not this time. You fell to your knees and clung to his legs and demanded to know why he treated you so poorly and proclaimed your love for him. It was probably by accident and you were so distraught you didn’t even know it flew from your mouth, but hearing it, he couldn’t take it anymore. He didn’t care about the consequences, he just wanted you. Hearing that you loved someone like him made him so happy, he knew he’d treasure the memory forever

N = Nightmare (what is their worst fear?)

Losing you. Period.

O = Oddity (what is one quirk they have?)

What ISNT odd about this man?! A cute one is he always winks with his green eye.

P = Pet Names (what do they like to call you?)

I HC that he was born in the 30’s, so he calls you “doll” a lot but only in private. He uses your name otherwise so it’s not as obvious to people watching you’re together. He will absolutely refer to you as “the dame” to others. The equivalent of “the boss” or “old lady.” “William! The Dame is trying to take a nap, so shut up or I’ll shoot you!” You call him stitches to tease him in private and are the only person allowed to do so.

Q = Quality Time (how do they like to spend time with you?) Either taking naps or couch potato time. Also, low key likes to cook with you. He can’t cook for shit, but likes to “help” by handing you things or chopping things for you. Is a super good taste tester, self appointed.

R = Rhythm (what song reminds you of them?)

Stitches by Shawn Mendez (PLEASE DONT HURT ME!!)

We don’t have to Dance by Andy Black (referring to how he can’t really show you affection in public but he loves you)

S = Secrets (how open are they with you?)

He’s open about himself and what he’s thinking, and will always take what you say into consideration. He doesn’t like to keep things from you, but he does omit some detail about his jobs if you ask about them. He just feels like you don’t need to be stressed about it.

T = Time (how long did it take you to get together?)

LJ picked up on Frankie’s fondness of you almost instantly. He and Will decided to do what they could to get you together in the interest of making Frankie less of a grouch. If it hadn’t been for them insisting that he was good guy to you, you probably WOULD have let Frankie’s prickly nature drive you away. It took a year or so for you to break down.

U = Upset (how do they act when you’re upset?) A powder keg of insults, foul language, and bullets. Has actually never called you a name outright, and would absolutely never physically hurt you. When he was deliberately being rude to you, he’d insult your actions rather than you. “Stop acting like a dumb broad!” Vs calling you a bitch to your face. He usually calms down quickly, and is hardly ever angry at you, only when you put yourself in danger.

V = Vaunt (what are they proud of? Do they like to show you off?)

He likes that he’s scary and tough looking so that when you’re with him, other men scatter pretty fast. Has had many occasions where he stepped away and someone came to flirt with you and he came back and had the pleasure of scaring them.

W = Warrior (how do they feel about you fighting? Would they fight for you, beside you, etc?)

You are not allowed to do anything dangerous, ever! Will teach you how to use a gun and how to counter things like chokeholds, so you’re less vulnerable. Will absolutely lose his mind if he learns you’ve put yourself at risk. He will shoot someone so fast for you. Takes every person as a threat to you and will pick fights with somebody that accidentally bumped into you. Do NOT test this man.

X = X-Ray (how well are they able to read you?)

You are an open book to him. He’s learned to read people well, and he takes his time studying you. Can tell if you’re getting sick before you can. More than once he’s handed you a bottle of Tylenol, leaving you bewildered, and shrugged and said to take them because you’ll have a headache in a few minutes. He can pick up on your emotions easily and has learned what to do to handle them.

Y = Yes (how would they propose to you?)

Honestly, marriage isn’t that important to him. He’s not opposed to the idea at all, but like you’ve been together for this long, you love each other, is it really necessary? You’d have to tell him you want to be officially married. He’ll buy you a ring, to show that you’re taken, if nothing else, but he’ll wear his around his neck under his tie so it’s not obvious he’s attached to anyone to discourage his rivals using you to get to him.

Z = Zen (what makes them feel calm?)

The smell of your perfume. Holding you in his arms and taking deep breaths makes all of his troubles go away.

- also since this is a modern au i dont think she would have such an obsession with food as she does in the canonverse (if we can even call it an obsession) i still think she would have a big appetite (and she'd be proud of it tf 😏🙏) but i just dont see her always being hungry as the fandom makes her out to be

- i think itd be really cute if she was studying to become a baker ?? maybe taking a culinary course at the university you two attend ?? maybe you somehow met there or through a friend

long fucking post on why a c!dream is a shitty person and probably should not have a redemption because it is unpog

honestly i just want to refute dream apologists thats why im making this post. i think that dream as a villain is interesting but i think that trying to make him out to be secretly a good guy is just bad ngl. also /roleplay and all

dream as a villain

dream is a villain. he is chaotic evil according to wilbur, deliberately does not stream to appear less sympathetic (and yet), and is set up as an antagonist to tommy who bears the title ‘hero’. dream is not a good person, no matter how you look at it or try to justify his actions.

‘but he wants to unite everyone to be a big family :((’ the ends dont justify the means believe it or not. having a vaguely positive goal does not excuse the actions you’ve done. it also goes hand and hand with saying dream is correct for punishing tommy the way he did because he acted up. if i socked you across the face and then suddenly said ‘sorry there was a roach on ur face’ does that make it okay? probably not i still punched you, enacting an unnecessary amount of violence. thats a very simple analogy i will admit and there are more complex comparisons. another example off the top of my head is say a child just scribbled all over you walls with crayons. would hitting them be a justified answer? if u said hes thats really fucked of u go seek help u loon. violence as a punishment is very toxic, just because it gets the job done does not mean it is okay. at the end of the day, you still committed this act and the harm you caused is real, having a good motive doesnt suddenly make it okay.

‘but tommy causes all of the conflict’ the disk war wasnt even caused by tommy, it was sapnap and then tommy got involved. and the reason why tommy even caused conflict was because of the discs, because he wanted them back. and most of the time there was a level of antagonism from another party, such as schlatt exiling him, dream taking the disks in the first place, dream threatening l’manberg. and if dream wanted to end the conflict so badly, why didnt he just give tommy back his disks? tommy upfront said everything started with the disks, so he wants them back so he could end the conflict. notice how after tommy got his disks back he has been staying out of conflict, apologizing to everyone, and the only bad thing hes done is try to scam people but everyone does that. this would have been the most peaceful option, yet dream chose the path that would further antagonize tommy which then draws everyone else into conflict. why did dream need to have leverage over tommy so badly? why did he want to hold power over tommy so badly? its because of control, and that’s ultimately dreams end goal. sure he wants a big server family, but would said family have a free will?

‘but dream is sad’ the thing is dream is completely at fault for everything that happened to him. he pushed away sapnap (and george ig). he tried to take control over the server and their possessions. literally everything that happened to tommy. literally everything involving ranboo. villains can be sympathetic, i am not arguing against that. but it does not mean that they should be left off the hook. that doesnt mean u should ignore the shit theyve done because ‘oh no theyre sad’ because it doesnt make anything better. dream had this shit coming for him.

now people also skirt around calling dream an abuser. which is fair ig, its a very loaded word. its much easier to say manipulated. that being said, dream can classify as abusive. and no, tommy is not abusive. abuse is about control and a power imbalance. dream has power over tommy, but tommy does not have power over dream, at least not in the way dream does. he’s taking back power to stand up for himself, dream uses power to control.

the reasons i listed for why dream is from the Domestic Abuse Intervention Project so if u want a source on that, there you go.

using coercion or threats: dream often threatened tommy, such as the pit thing and often employed violence on him. while normally this could be attributed to Normal Minecraft Player Go Smack. minecraft mechanics cannot always translate to real world since violence is pretty normal in minecraft however we also need to consider the context of the scene. dream gave an order, tommy refused, dream applies violence, tommy submitted. thats why its a threat, it has tangible effects that can correlate to real life.

using intimidation: dream blew up logsteadshire as a punishment. dream also destroyed tommys items anytime he visited. dream also hit tommy with his axe i believe. he killed mushroom henry, one of tommys pets.

Using Emotional Abuse: dream guiltripped the shit out of tommy for just hiding things and pinning the blame on tommy for just wanting his own private items. he definitely played mind games on tommy, pretending to be his friend. honestly i probably dont even need to go as in depth because it was so obvious.

Using Isolation: putting him in exile in the first place. destroying the bether portal so no one could visit tommy anymore. i really dont think i need to expand upon that.

Minimizing, Denying, and Blaming: dream in tommys stream when he got trapped said that exile wasnt that bad. he does shift the blame onto tommy for logsteadshire being blown up, even though dreams reaction was entirely unjustified for not listening and hiding.

Using Economic Abuse: see this is where i attempt to parallel minecraft mechanics to real life. obviously, there is no monetary system in place, so when i mean economic, i will use valuables such as armor, food, etc in place of currency. the idea behind economic abuse is to limit the victim’s resources so that they are dependent on the abuser and cannot escape. dream only really allowed tommy to have the armor he gave him while not giving access to armor so he does not regain a sense of power, and in the prison stream, dream holds all the potatoes which puts him in a position of power over tommy. this argument is more ambiguous i feel cause the whole minecraft mechanics thing is kinda weird so u don’t necessarily have to take this part in.

i feel like i need to emphasize this very strongly because dream is not a good person. abuse cannot and should not be a response to someone. its an awful mentality to have. i just want to prove the point that dream is not a good person, his reasons absolutely do not justify his actions.

what makes a good redemption

redemption arcs are tricky. when done right they are great. when done poorly, its a slap in the face. rn im going to establish a formula to what makes a good redemption with an example.

the most well known example of a good redemption is zuko from atla. first, its the magnitude of what theyve done and why. zuko did commit some shitty actions, since he was in a position of power in the fire nation but its because he is a child being abused and wanted to regain honor. zukos real awful acts was season 1 and the whole betrayal thing. thats not to say that zukos actions suddenly are okay, he did shitty things. but its something that can be traced to a higher entity or seem less malicious then the other villains. the thing also about the magnitude of actions is that there is a certain point of atrocities that there is no redemption. some people simply cannot be redeemed because the actions they commit are so ingrained in their character or the action itself has serious moral issues that it would just be wrong.

the next is acknowleding what they did was wrong. a genuine reflection on the self and analyzing what they did and why it was not okay. zuko realized what he did to uncle iroh was bad for example. he turned his back on his father, realizing he didnt and shouldnt seek acknowledgment from someone as heinous as him. its pointing out your actions and going ‘hey, this wasnt right i should not have done this’ and not even excusing ur actions. its also going straight for the root of the problem and figuring out to stamp it from the source. just because a character is sad does not mean they are reflecting, sometimes they are attempting to garner pity. it has to be direct and clear acknowledgement of the injustice.

and finally, an important part about redemption arcs is the actual redemption part. its when you make amends. zuko made amends with katara by trying to help her get revenge, he fought against the fire nation and tried to make things more peaceful in his rule. he apologized to iroh. an important part of the amends section is that it does have to be a genuine desire to change and become a better person, not to change a person’s perception of you. the thing is u cant expect a person youve hurt to forgive you. you cant expect people to be sympathetic towards you nor should u attempt to make urself sympathetic. u shouldnt be expecting a pat on the back or an award. redemption is about internal and character change.

why dream should not be redeemed

ive already established the key points to a good redemption (imo) but heres where dream falls short. his actions are extremely heavy so redemption may not even really be possible. abuse is not something you can wave off so it does cross to the point of fucked up. acknowledgement of what he did was wrong? all he said was that he changed, yet never explained why he changed or was too vague. he needed to label specifically what he did and bring it up. attempting to make amends? he’s been doing the exact opposite in fact he continues to manipulate tommy and ranboo. its not a genuine change. he is still repeating the cycle and has given no indication of ceasing. at the moment he does not have any signs of redemption.

and the thing is most of the attention around a dream redemption comes from either justifying his motives (which i do want to emphasize does not make anything suddenly okay) and because he is sad in prison sad face. these are not good reasons. its gonna pain me severely to bring this up but snape from harry potter does have some form of sad character ig yet he very much abused his authority to bully children as old as 11 just because he said ‘aight gonna die’ doesnt suddenly make his general bigotry and abuse suddenly okay there is a threshold. again im so sorry for using harry potter as an example none were coming to mind and i needed a popular one i do not like harry potter please dont say i do i would pass away.

and the last thing to consider is the audience. keep in mind that the audience is composed of minors and while yes there are adults, minors are the main component of the fandom. keep in mind that there are quite a few people who can relate to tommys character because they might be in the same position or have gone through his experiences. tell me what kind of message does it send to that audience that abusers can be redeemed. this is not a narrative u should push to this audience in these situations and the writers are seemingly aware of it. remember how in exile tommy spiraled into a suicidal mentality? consider how fucked of a message it would be if he just committed suicide instead of escaping abuse and attempting to recover from his experiences. tommy did an excellent job in not going that route and having a message of ‘it will not get better’. its the same thing here. victims are not obligated to care for or forgive their abuser, and portraying an abuser as sympathetic might fuck with the message a lot, even change their perception in that ‘oh, maybe my abuser was right, maybe they had a reason for treating me the way they did’. this is not to say that every victim watching this will internalize this message, but people also look up to these characters. there can be a degree of influence from the story onto oneself and thats the dangerous part.

conclusion

all in all dream is a shitbag asshole and probably shouldnt get a redemption because it would not be pog thanks for coming to my ted talk.

Been feeling that Brainrot again (ft. Sanders Sides)

Rambles with various theories, unedited, ahead. You are warned.

Yalls already know this theory about the dark sides being the "see no evil, speak no evil, hear no evil" thing, based on a picture series in the nostalgia episode that seems not to relate to anything they were talking about, while the rest of the pictures there WERE talking about what was spoken of.

basically, the theory said that janus is the speak no evil one, remus is hear no evil, and the last side, orange, is see no evil. I think, with the fact we saw logans eyes flash orange when he yelled at remus to stop ignoring him in wtit, along with the fact the only other time we saw any glimpse of the orange side was the "hello" in selfishness vs selflessness redux, it could be a side that demands attention. a sort of "notice me" kind of thing.

because while remus is being weird, its not because he wants to hurt thomas, and janus was actively working to make thomas feel better in svsr.. so a side that works on a goal of getting thomas attention would work interestingly

[going to an entirely different theory bc ahah]

other theory I have builds on how so far each "dark side" seems to be working against something built by a "light side" - patton has janus working against him several times. roman and remus are literally mirrors of one another (and, another thing - these guys all have the opposing colors of each other. red and green, blue and yellow... do you see where I'm going?)

so what if the other side is opposing logan (because dark blue and bright orange oppose each other - I have whole characters based on this color scheme)?

I think, for this theory, that orange would be some sort of.. impulse. again working FOR thomas, even if he doesn't always want that help, like other dark sides do (because, remember, they were nicknamed that by roman, who has a hard time accepting things arent black and white like they are in the fairytales he builds! none of the dark sides refer to themselves as that - even virgil, when he admits to being one, says he was "one of the others", not a dark side.)

because personality traits and parts of a person can never be truly good or bad. they can be annoying (like my tendency to rant), but you can clearly see them all trying their best. so, a side that wants thomas to be appreciated at the cost of seeming needy, annoying, and, yes, "selfish", just like the episode they introduced themself in. its not bad to want attention, but... just saying!

I should also say that both these theories take into consideration the way sides interact with each other. a “selfish” sort of need for attention would make roman feel like he’s being annoying, and probably help him sort... whatever he has going on. because you saw how he gives up things he wants in order to be “good” for thomas. he’s done it quite a bit in the last few episodes, and we see how every time he goes out of that line something bad happens. he needs to learn to be loved for who he is since there’s certainly something up.

however, on the other hand, the other theory seems just as much, if not more, likely. not only would a side that works on impulse worry virgil and annoy logan to no end, I can see them getting along with roman in a way that annoys logan because they never take things seriously (never take him seriously)... and we did kinda work through most issues the other “light sides” have with their opposites. we didn’t even address logans problems beyond “nobody takes me seriously” and we all know it goes much deeper than this.

either way Im calling orange side Lamppost until we get their name-

Uhhhh hl gordo topping the absolute shit out of vr gordos like, fingers shoved in so far in his mouth and Benrey "accidentally" stumbling in to find them and just seeing vr gordos become such a fuckinf mess under hl gordo..... idk it's on the brain now thanks to you and honestly thank you very much

vr gordon on his knees with a hand in his hair tilting his head back, hl gordon in the HEV suit with 3 fingers fucking his mouth so you know he got those gloves on, just looking him right in the eyes while he does it, vr gordons got his hands wrapped around hl gordons forearm and his thighs spread wide, hes fuckin droolin and flushed and moaning around hl gordons fingers

and then benrey walks in and vr gordon Flips and is like "mpphh mhmhpph" trying to get those fingers out of his mouth and be Normal but hl gordon just grabs his hair tighter and plunges them in deeper and turns to stare right at benrey. doesnt say anything. just gives him an intense, totally unreadable look

gordon getting cucked by hl gordon and not letting himself join in b/c he is emotionally and sexually repressed as all hell is great. but i think it would be really fucking good if hl gordon wordlessly invites benrey to join in. just jerks his head to the side like "get over here"

well, first benrey just stands there, eyes wide and surprised as all hell while vr gordon slaps at hl gordons arm until he takes those fingers out of his mouth. then he starts bitching like "fucking-- go away, benrey, wait a fucking minute here--" until hl gordon leans down and whispers something in his ear that benrey cant make out. but whatever it is, it has an Effect on vr gordon thats kind of like watching a glass of water be poured over his head - his mouth snaps shut, and his face turns a dark, dark red, and he swallows hard as he looks back at benrey. and then back to hl gordon. and then he says, real quiet, "uh. okay"

and then benrey gets another Look from hl gordon and hes like "uhhh. cool. yeah. this is cool" and steps into their circle like his legs are on autopilot cuz hes still like what is even going on, never fuckin seen freeman like that before, this is craaaazy ha ha

(like, okay, in this scenario hl gordon already fuckin knows that vr gordon is into benrey and hes just being a little emotionally-constipated bitch about it. thats the whole reason he nodded at benrey to let him join in anyway. so what hl gordon is whispering into his ear is something along the lines of, like, this is what he wanted to do anyway, right? hl gordon already knows. so why dont u be good for the both of them, gordon?)

then before he knows it, hes standing in front of vr gordon on his knees and casting a shadow over him and vr gordon is so fucking embarrassed right now. but, like, hl gordon wasnt wrong, and he really, really wants to be good for him. (and, you know, for benrey, but if he admits that to himself he might actually fucking die.) hes sweating as he looks up at the both of them, like, "uh, okay, hey. uh. what am i supposed to--"

hl gordon interrupts him by making a fucking obscene motion with his (still spit-slick) fingers, indicating that benrey should do what hl gordon was just doing a second ago. (please note: hes still got his other hand in vr gordons hair.) and benrey looks between the two of them with his hand raised halfway into the air, like, yo, is this cool? is this actually happening? hl gordon gestures at him like, go ahead, bro. and when his hand approaches vr gordons mouth and his fingers alight on his lip, that mouth parts just enough to let him in, even if vr gordons having a really goddamn hard time meeting his eyes.

and benrey slowly starts feelin him from the inside, feeling the slick surface of his tongue and teeth while hl gordon gives benrey encouraging gestures and shows him how best to do it. how to get vr gordon to whimper and drool around his fingers just like he was doing earlier. not that vr gordon needs much help getting there - the humiliation of copping to his feelings like this, on his knees and fellating his frenemys hand, combined with hl gordons fingers gently stroking and scratching his scalp and stroking his ear and jaw as if to say, youre doing good, is getting him 12 different kinds of Fucked Up. hes still too embarrassed by all this to really get back into Whoredon Freeman mode so easily, but the embarrassment is.......really fucking cute. its doing it for benrey. and soon enough, hes got 3 fingers in gordons mouth and is feeling those low noises gordons making just as much as hes hearing them

i just......i think hl gordon is neat......hes just......a really quiet guy that projects this air of almost total confidence just by virtue of not speaking that much (and therefore, never sticking his fucking foot in it) and talking with his hands comes a lot easier than speaking aloud.......and hes a nice guy who doesnt have a problem showing it when its necessary/appropriate but he doesnt abide bullshit b/c bullshit gets people killed, which vr gordon unfortunately has in spades........literally all just fucking made-up personality traits but i just see it very clearly in my head

in my mind he is the polar opposite of vr gordon. like. vr gordon is so desperate to maintain control over his peers and his environment and he mostly just......yells ineffectually and runs around like a big loud rooster trying to peck everybody into place. and clearly that shit dont work out too well for him. so in comparison hl gordon is just......effortlessly confident in what he does and how he acts and people are just naturally inclined to listen to him/take him seriously. or at least he appears that way on the outside - i imagine the guy still has some self esteem issues, both about himself as a person and in his own abilities to Do What Needs To Be Done. just.......being so quiet all the time projects that air

i also imagine that like......his smiles are a bit of a rare thing, too. especially for vr gordon, who spends most of the time rubbing him the wrong way. so when vr gordon does earn one of those smiles, or a thumbs up, or basically any kind of positive attention, it hits extra hard

still thinking about. hl gordon basically......teaching benrey how to fuck vr gordon. in so many words. starting with the fingers.....hes also quietly being encouraging towards benrey, too, communicating that hes doing good at this. (is hl gordon domming both of them at the same fucking time?? youre goddamn right he is.) and benreys tenting the absolute hell out of his slacks by the time hes got vr gordons hand wrapped around his wrist to keep him there, and by the time gordons whining around his fingers and spreading his legs open wider instinctually and jerking his hips a little against the arm hes got shoved down between em for just a little friction

and then hl gordon stops benrey and makes another obscene motion and-- oh. yeah, benrey would like to take care of his boner issue like that, thank you. benreys a little dumbfounded, like, "yo, uhhh, you really wanna suck my dick? friend?" and vr gordons like "oh my god, you didnt have to say it out loud! jesus fucking christ, do not say anything-- not another fucking word--" but hes cut off by hl gordons hand tugging his hair hard enough to make him hiss. "okay, okay, jeez!"

vr gordon shimmies closer and looks up at him, still red, still sweating, drool running down the corner of his mouth and trailing in a translucent string from benreys fingers. still embarrassed. but daring benrey to do as he was told. so benrey unzips himself with shaking fingers and pulls out his dick. hes fully hard already and hl gordons there to guide the both of them how to do it - takes vr gordons hand and curls it into a fist with his thumb tucked inside, guides vr gordons head with the hand still in his hair. pushes him onto benreys dick. and theres something decidedly fucking weird about hl gordons role in this, but hes clearly getting off on it, and so are the rest of them, so theres not a lot of room left for any of them to worry about it

i cannot rightfully allow myself to keep fucking writing this when i still havent finished writing gordon freeman coming untouched but im just fucking frothing thinking about hl gordon showing benrey exactly how to push vr gordons buttons. shows him how to finger vr gordon, which angle he should push gordons legs back to so he can hit just the right spot, guides him to take just the right pace and shows him how gordon likes his hair to be pulled

and benreys so obedient! its a marked difference from how much shit he gives vr gordon at any attempt to control him. vr gordons honestly a little miffed about it, but on the other hand, hl gordon is really good at jerking him around and getting him off and hes a very good teacher. he cant complain
