Short story of her love to Blackbird.

As first I wanted to say hello to everyone in the group, especially for Linda Sheffield Miller for creating such an amazing community circled around Blackbird - that's really stunning.

I wanted to share a story - a story of my wife who is actually too shy to talk about her love to Blackbird. Not too many of people outside of US here on the group I'd say, so it may be worth a while reading about this 🙂

Karolina (or Caroline in English) is 29 this year, we've been married for 3 years now. She is mechanical engineer that ended university of technology in 2014. From when I remember, she always had Blackbird on her wallpaper on Laptop and phone. As I'm Polish armed forces officer (we come from Poland) , the background of it was also interesting to me, so many years ago she told me a story of herself.

She is the kind of woman that never played Barbies, she was the Lego kid playing with cars, dreaming of Jaguar E-type and flying through space. When we met, she knew (and still does) know more about cars than I do.

Her dream was always to build Next gen Blackbird - anytime someone asked about her wallpaper, she said the history of it and how awesome it is (they only tried to small talk but she instantly went all in for telling about it 😅).

When she finished UoT, she worked for the company making parts for planes, but she recently changed the job to be a part of the team creating jet engines. It's her dream job right now, but still keeps saying that her future lays in Lockheed Skunk Works.

Last year we had delayed honeymoon, 34 days in United States to see as much as possible from what we only saw in movies.

We visited Kennedy Space Center (it's great for real), where she was amazed and almost cried seeing Saturn V. But the real thing was just coming.

When we arrived in the Washington, the only thing she was waiting for was going to Udvar Hazy Air and Space Museum, where one of the Blackbirds stands.

You can only imagine how she reacted seeing it when we stepped on the gangway above SR-71. She cried her eyes out, but positively.

There was a guy (expert) on a big screen right next to Blackbird, who was actually connected through Skype or something, so we could talk with him and he could tell us the story of this plane. I remember them talking for some time with her making notes of what he said and she didn't know.

When we came back to Poland, with the help of my friend, I decided to make her a scale model of Blackbird. Since I like a little bit of engineering myself and I have 3D printer, I designed the exhaust fumes with Mach diamonds to be lit

When she saw it lit up, she cried again, the same as she did in US when she saw the real one. She is crazy about the Blackbird even more than she was before, but too shy to talk about it outside of her group of friends - maybe your reaction will make her open up a little more in here.

Hope the story wasn't too long - since this group exists and I watched Lindas Habubrats for some time now, I always wanted to share it. The fact this plane and community around it is so amazing that the plane itself has fans all over the world.

Top five favorite fics + honorable mentions

But i'll certainly try. Here's my all time faves in the ✨HP fandom ✨

1. Miðgarðsormr by xXAonoNYmouSPXx

I'm sure it's not a surprise 😄 This fic has me hooked, i even wrote a fanfic for this fic. Basically, tomione has a magical child, and when i say magical, i don't mean he's just a wizard. Their child is so much more haha. The twist: Tom had never met hermione and Hermione doesn't even know that her child has a father. Motherhood suits hermione so well in this fic and we get the bonus of seeing Tom riddle got dragged into parenthood haha. BAMF Hermione

2. In the Black + Black Mask by izzythehutt

It's a series. Regulus survived the cave and went to Sirius then boom: BLACK FAMILY REUNION. It's Sirius-centric and Sirius's characterization in this fic is so good. This story delves deep into Black family drama and the war. SiriusxOC, and while i usually don't read many HP fics with OC as a prominent character, this fic is so worth it to read.

3. Hermione Granger, Demonologist by BrilliantLady

It's a light read and it has great theories! I like to read it from time to time. Kid Hermione summoned demons in attempt to make friends and becomes a dark witch so naturally. But even though she's a dark witch, she is still very hermione!

4. Strange Attractors by Mistakes_And_Experiments

Tomione and world building! Smart people talking smart things. Tom is deep into politic. Very slow paced. Very sweet, not dark at all, unlike many tomione fics. Hermione is a bit ooc in this one, i think (not a hot headed gryffindor at all, but rather calm like luna). Still, it's an awesome read that i like to return to.

5. when sunsets look like blood (hold me till the stars appear)

Again, Tomione. Hilarious and deep. Tom riddle is not some evil overlord in this fic. Still rather evil, but just a teenager. I read this one a long time ago, but i still love it to this day.

Honorable mentions

The Laughing Heart : Regulus-centric, one shot. This fic makes you feel. It's regulus black, duh.

R. v. Riddle : Another light read! Or is it dark read? 🤔 About a murder case gone wrong (or gone right, in Tom's opinion). Intelligent Hermione but tom riddle is so much more haha. In this case, tom riddle played Hermione like a cheap kazoo :)) i really recommend this, it depicted tomione perfectly.

You Should Know : Adult hermione and adult tom riddle/voldemort. Hermione is born in the 30s, so a bit younger than tom riddle. Another light read that i like to read from time to time. It's canon hermione who grows up in the 30-40s and doesn't have harry or ron as friends.

Aberration : Harry/Hermione. Hermione is sorted into Slytherin. Honing her cunning out of necessity

Yesterday is Tomorrow (everything is connected) : who doesn't know this fic, honestly. I don't particularly like james/hermione but it's BAMF hermione so i can't resist. I'm glad i decided to read it, because this fic influences Mad Adventure a lot (I got the idea of using the Crouch family for Mad Adventure because of this fic). This fic is not one of my top favorites, but i put it here because it made great impacts on Mad Adventure

As you can see, I mostly read Tomione fics 😅 I know my fave list lacks any Regmione, but it is what it is :( I only got into regmione because i just think Regulus will suit Hermione well and deserves so much better. In any case, The Damned is one of the most memorable regmione fic for me - it's just so different and interesting.

Reading The Hidden Oracle: Chapter 37 (SPOILERS)

"Percy leaped heroically from his mount and slipped in hellhound pee." Heroic entrance right here.

"Apollo, did you do this?" "I am offended! . . . I am only indirectly responsible for this!" I love their banter.

"I need a few more minutes to enchant this arrow." "Of course you do." Cut him some slack, he's still getting the hang of this whole hero thing.

"I had to admit Percy Jackson was moderately impressive." :/ ? Least reliable narrator I've ever seen.

"This time, the words came to me." Wait, so the plague chant actually isn't PLAGUEY, PLAGUEY, PLAGUEY? This is a massive disappointment. I don't think I'll recover. Also, that Styx punishment really didn't last long. The River's going soft.

"sneezed so hard he collapsed." Uh oh.

"FIE! TOO STRONG IS THY PLAGUE." FIE (exclamation): used to express disgust or outrage

"Kayla, be careful. Don't breathe--" "ACHOO!" Oh no.

"MOREO'ER, HIE!" I hate this fucking arrow. HIE (v.): go quickly

"Somehow, I managed to react appropriately. (Three cheers for reacting appropriately!)" I- Wins where you can take 'em, I suppose.

"you and Harley take Kayla and Austin to the Apollo cabin for healing." "But they are the Apollo cabin" VALID concern. Will's gonna be overworked again. Who's gonna heal everyone? Don't any campers other than the Apollo ones learn healing? People are dying left and right; you'd think other campers would learn medicine.

"Perhaps if we got some harpies and some kite string..." He's really desperate if he's suggesting that.

"I'm a stupid ugly mortal teenager! I'm nobody!" Is he throwing a tantrum? "I thought for sure . . . The cosmos would stop turning. Percy and Chiron would rush to reassure me. None of that happened . . . 'You're Apollo. We need you. You can do this. Besides, if you don't, I will personally throw you off the top of the Empire State Building.'" My friend compared this scene to the one in Rise of the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles where the four turtles are about to be crushed to death in the Labyrinth maze and Leo[nardo Hamato, not -nidas Valdez], who is the only one who can get them out by making a portal, first pouts at them to ask for a self-esteem boost. Something like "Y'know, it would really help me out if you told me I'm your champion" because the whole point of the Labyrinth was to get to the center and become a "champion" and receive world-class pizza (that episode was freakishly reminiscent of how PJO characters often end up beating their villains of the week). Yes, my friend and I frequently miscommunicate which Leo we are talking about when we discuss fandom stuff.

"just the sort of thing Zeus used to say to me before my soccer matches." Yeesh, never a good thing to be compared to Zeus, but the throw-you-off-a-building threat was deserved. Also, I think Rhea might not be the only one mixing up their centuries.

"a monument to my own conceit. Nero's pride was no more than a reflection of mine." A character development moment! Yes!

"The demigods were getting very good at scattering." I bet they've had a lot of practice, what with all the attacks on their only safe haven over the years.

"a gust of wind caught it... perhaps Zephyros" Yeah!!! That's good. It would've been too hard to believe if Apollo made that shot naturally. A bit soon to call Zephyros awesome, though, since this is just making up for the murder he committed, but good on him for helping avoid the deaths of dozens of small children.

"like a pachinko machine." I know what you're all thinking: "What's the difference between pachinko and pinball?" That's what I'm here to answer. According to Google, pachinko is an upright, vertical version of pinball that uses multiple small balls as opposed to pinball's singular, larger ball.

"geysers of motor oil out his ears" NOOOO! Not the harbor! Oh man, the beach naiads are gonna be so sick after this. Do beach naiads exist? If not, the beach animals and plants are gonna be sick. This is the third geyser we've seen this book and by far the worst.

"a case of hay fever . . . the statue's head achieved first-stage separation from his body." Deadliest case of hay fever I've seen yet. Hey, if it works, it works.

"Then the air blooped out of its neck hole" Blooped was pretty far down on the list of verbs I expected to see in this book. Next time I'll be more open-minded and prepared for verbs of all variety.

Some ideas if you’re vidding for me and would like more to go on!

Music: I genuinely like most things! If a steer is helpful though, my most-listened-to genres are towards the pop/folk/soft rock/female singer-songwriters end. But the most important thing is that you choose the song that works for you and the vid! I would really appreciate if you could avoid death metal-style vocals, Ronan Keating and Sia.

Visuals: I would appreciate if you could avoid flicker/strobe/film damage-type effects!

General: Found family, happiness, teams, shenanigans and fun, character studies, relationship studies that aren't necessarily shippy, angst, feelings!

Specifics for individual fandoms:

Abbott Elementary Heartwarming workplace sitcom (36 x 20-ish mins)

I love everyone in this elementary school! You can't go wrong here but some specific ideas I'd love to see - something about Barbara's mentorship of Janine, something about Barbara and her perspective on the school more generally and her relationships with the younger crew, including Ava, something about Barbara and Melissa (femslash or friendship), a character vid about Gregory (potentially that leans into reading him as autistic if you vibe with that), a Janine/Gregory vid!

Bugs ‘90s futuristic cybersecurity action-adventure nonsense (40 x 50 mins)

Something about my childhood crush amazing hacker badass Ros being cool and amazing would be wonderful! I also really enjoy the original OT3 of Ros/Beckett/Ed and it would be really fun to see a vid for them, although if you go that direction I'm not really interested to see Replacement Ed included. (Sorry Replacement Ed!) I'd love something about Jan and Ros, or maybe Jan, Ros and Alex - on my recent rewatch I was really struck by how there's this web of support and mentorship between them, and this real fondness between them (Jan and Ros especially) even when they often disagree. (Also v open to a shippy and/or angsty Jan/Ros vid if that's where the muse takes you.)

The Dark is Rising Sequence - Susan Cooper Children's fantasy with mysterious Celtic vibes (5 x novels)

I would just be thrilled to see any vid you could make that captures some of the feel of the books! I love the epic-yet-intimate/personal scale feel of them, the use of mythology and folklore, the sense of place/landscape/season, and I love all the characters. I'm here for whatever you feel like doing, whether that's concentrating on a specific book, character or plot thread, or something with a wider scope. I will just be wowed by anything you can do for this source!

Raising Dion Sweet family superpowers show (17 x 45 mins)

I really enjoyed the way the world expanded a little in S2! I'd love something about the growing community Nicole and Dion are building, and how valuable and powerful that is. A vid about the Triangle of Justice would be awesome, or so would something about Nicole’s interactions with Suzanne, Janelle, Tevin, etc. But I pretty much love all the choices this show made and I'd be interested to see a vid from most angles! (Not really interested to spend time on Pat's point of view but I don't mind him appearing if the vid calls for it.)

Thunder Force [SAFETY] Superpowers and friendship (1 x 1hr 46 mins)

I adore the central relationship of this film! I'd love a vid that focuses on Lydia and Emily and the strength of their connection, whether it's through the lens of friendship, femslash or something that's a bit of both. I'd also love something about both of their relationships with Tracy and the three of them as a team kicking ass together and being a family. I'm not really interested in Crab Guy.

The Wheel of Time Swooshy epic fantasy (16 x 60 mins)

Aes Sedai! I would love a vid about the Aes Sedai (and their warders)! Maybe something exploring all the different relationships and alliances going on, or looking at the different approaches and types of power the various Aes Sedai we've met (including Egwene, Nynaeve and Elayne) use, or just a full vid of various Aes Sedai kicking ass, or something about the toll the White Tower takes on them all, the sacrifices they make for it. I would go absolutely feral for a Siuan-centric vid. If there's enough footage I'd also love to see a vid about Alanna, or about Verin (and the Brown Ajah) although that's an even taller order. Moving only slightly away from the Tower, I'd love a vid about the relationship/parallels between Moiraine and Anvaere.

Travel shows presented by Susan Calman [UMBRELLA] Gentle pootling around the UK with an enthusiastic Scottish lesbian (IDEK how many episodes - Secret Scotland with Susan Calman, Susan Calman’s Grand Day Out, etc)

I’d love anything that captures the playfulness and sweetness of these shows and Susan’s infectious enthusiasm for new experiences, as well as the beautiful locations she visits! I'm here for the nerdy moments and movie parodies as well as for the recurring motifs like model villages and failing to fold maps. I’m most interested in Secret Scotland, Grand Day Out and Grand Week by the Sea, less interested in the cruising and antiques ones.

yah!! i love writing canon bea & i've LOVED writing girls against god/butch bea universe so so much (& will definitely revisit it i'm sure) but!

it's rly wonderful to not write abt queer angst too lol. she's a little bit older in this (early 30s? ava's a little younger) so i think her parents did suck but she's been out & building her little family for a while in this world. idk if she's had a serious partner but that's mostly because of her job/travel etc more than feeling like it's bad or wrong to be gay. the way i've designed the Backstory Angst for bea is more about events w her work as a photographer more than anything else. any of ava's angst is just trying to brainstorm around disability / adaptive mobility stuff & her field work (which will be cool!!)

also yah i have bea use 'lesbian' v purposefully in that little scene. i think she loves gay & dyke & butch also but gender-inclusive lesbians are v important to me & she's awesome :)

Mission 6 is purely a fight against Gilgamesh

I've seen fans criticize this fight for being bad and...well it's not the most exiting thing in the world, you're just wailing on a giant brain while trying your best to keep from getting knocked off of the beast's shoulders

But y'know when compared to other questionable bosses throughout the series I'd say this guy ain't that bad. He sure beats the fucking Gigapede from DMC3

In facr this is another thing I previously mentioned: people often say that DMC3 has the best bosses in the series but honestly that's honestly only half true

Yeah battles like those against Cerberus, Agni & Rudra, Nevan, Beowulf and the 3 Vergil bosses are fantastic

But the game also has the Gigapede, the Leviathan's heart, the Doppelganger, Geryon and Lady are kinda borderline and Arkham is fucking broken

By comparison DMC5 doesn't always hit the same highs as the best DMC3 bosses but it sure as shit never hits its lowest points

Mission 7 is interesting as it's one of two missions in the game that allow you to choose which character you wanna play as between Nero or V! Not only that but each of them goes through a completely different pathway throughout most of the level, making it more of a unique experience

...I mean it's been ages since I last played this as V so I don't remember how it was but it's a nice touch

It can be a pretty tough level, very tight spaces and very agile and strong enemies, complete with demon generators that you have to smash unless you want them to infinitely spawn in enemies

This all ends with a giant epic, no holds barred brawl against you and a group of demonic knights while on a crumbling piece of building

What's pretty cool is that whatever character you didn't choose at the start will assist you here!

Granted in my case it's V and this is DMD meaning he dies 3 minutes in and I have to do the rest alone but it's the thought that counts buddy!

About those knights they're basically nerfed versions of a similar enemy from DMC4 (and also a homage to Nelo Angelo from DMC1): in that game they could fly, were way faster and couldn't be snatched towards you by Nero

Here they can't fly, they're much slower and can be freely snatched with the exception of the Alto Angelo, that bad boy (more on him later)

I...am not a fan of this. Yeah in DMC4 they could get annoying (especially as Dante but you know why) but mostly due to the game spamming them relentlessly, there was nothing wrong with them design wise

With these weaker variations you'll notice that they're only a threat while they're in a group. Once you start widdling down their numbers you'll notice that they're nothing more than really tanky ragdolls, making this fight start all awesome and stuff but end with a bit of a whimper

The Alto Angelos are probably the most hated enemies by some, because on DMD these asholes have as much health as a boss! A BOSS! They may just be the tankiest enemies in DMC history and combined with their basic attacks and relatively slow speed they can be an absolute grind to take down once it's just you and one of them

Tbf if you know what you're doind you can speed up the process (especially as Dante): with Nero I recommend using the fully charged Buster Devil Breaker, which is one of the most powerful moves in the game. I used it twice on this bastard and depleted most of its gargantuan health

To conclude this let's talk about level design

The past games had this sort of pseudo metroidvania kind of design, where you went back and forth through a Castle or Tower or similar collecting stuff to access other places. However there was also a level based structure mixed in which allowed you to mostly just go where the game wanted you to, essentially like a more restricted Metroid Fusion.

DMC5 decides to drop all of this in favor of a more traditional level structure: now levels are completely standalone, pure straight lines with little to no nacktracking

They still have some exploratory value as you can still find stuff like health upgrades etc. But the general design has received much streamlining and not only structurally: the game has absolutely no gimmicks, nor do they have much in the way of platforming, they're pretty basic all around

I don't really mind this on the one hand, since the main appeal of DMC has always been its combat and this approach to level design allows you to purely focus on that since now levels basically only serve to space away battle scenarios

On the other hand though this seems to me like an overreaction to criticisms thrown at past games, especially DMC4: That game had too many annoying gimmicks? Well let's not have any at all! The levels feel like they're more suited to an adventure game rather than a hack and slash? Well let's make them little more than straight lines!

Again I don't mind this but I honestly wouldn't mind a return to the previous games' style of level structure...provided that it's done nicely and not like the latter half of DMC4

Listbuilding Infodump

Hello! I'm a Battletech player lucky enough to have an active community at my FLGS but I am also a massive nerd who loves building lists that I may or may not use.

My group's standard format is 5000 BV for Classic and 250 PL for Alpha Strike. Because I'm super open to pickup games either in place of or after a scheduled game I make 2 lists. And now I'm going to infodump about what I'm bringing and why!

First up is my Classic list because it's smaller and (relatively) simpler. From left to right I am bringing a Warhawk (in Clan Sea Fox colors), a Vindicator (House Marik), a Hunchback (sporting my own Free Worlds Wolves urban scheme), and a Locust (again in FWW livery).

I own 2 Warhawks. Despite this, I've never actually run one because most models are like 3000 points and I don't feel comfortable sinking 60% of my roster's value in a single mech. Thankfully, the model A only costs 2,399 points and features one of my favorite weapons: the LB-X 10 (Mech-sized scattergun).

Due to the sheer cost of the Warhawk, my next choices needed to be more thrifty. I chose the Vindicator because I have a bit of a soft spot for it. It was the first mech I played with when I got the beginner's box and was one of the first mechs I painted. The PPC and LRMs didn't hurt either.

Next was the Hunchback. I love this thing. Just a big ol boi with an AC 20 or as I like to refer to it "the pilot check gun." Every time the 20 hits, there is a chance the target topples over and eats shit. That's too great to pass up.

Finally, there is the Locust. I'm running the 1-V for both sentimental and practical reasons. A) Locusts are dead cheap. B) because they're so cheap no one expects them to do something awesome!

All told I think this list is pretty well-rounded. The Warhawk and Vindicator bring the long-range pain while the Hunchback is a compelling reason to stay back and the Locust is an excellent, annoying linebreaker.

So that's Classic, but what about Alpha Strike I don't hear you mention? Well!

BEHOLD!

The entire conceit of this list is that I had vehicles and wanted to use them in an actual game. So I am running 1 Vehicle Lance and 2 Mech Lances.

The Vehicle Lance is a Recon formation consisting of 3 machine Gun Heavy APCs and a Rommel Tank. As a Recon Lance, they'll be forward observers. For what you may wonder? Well....

For my Fire Support Lance! This Lance features a Javelin (House Kurita), a Howler (Clan Ghost Bear), a Valkyrie (Highlander Camo), and a Horned Owl (Clan Snow Raven). The Fire Support Lance allows these mechs to fire indirectly at targets designated by the Recon Lance.

Finally, there is the Command Lance! The commander is in the All-Powerful Urbanmech (also Kurita), supported by an Enforcer (house Marik), a Trebuchet (tragically unpainted), and a Hunchback again (because I love them). The command is meant to provide frontline fighters as well as playing shenanigans with initiative and firing.

Overall this list is a bit more of a meme list and bringing a full company is probably ill-advised but I think it could be fun!

After reaching you feel very peaceful as it’s a bit away from the hustle and bustle of the city.

4. Marine Drive

and i LOVE how basically EVERYTHING i did mattered. every thing! every single thing! even if it seemed stupid and pointless and like a waste of time! talking to those two old guys playing boule? it mattered!

and i loved how.... real the people were. all of them. they really were. i think a lot of people would have written a lot of these characters very, very, very differently. i was mad that evrart was that way. but he was real. and that made... everything, every conversation, every decision more real, because everything was complicated, just like in real life. theres ideology and political theory and theres reality. theres a really, REALLY nice old lady. but shes racist. lowkey. but she is. and thats.... its disappointing, but its real, you know? what are you gonna do? stop talking to her? but shes so nice. and theres an interesting quest. these conflicting feelings - so real! just like in real life. do you stop talking to your nice neighbour because she made a racist comment? its messy. and then you meet complete jerks and you already write them off, you are basically waiting for your chance to "pay them back", but hey, look, they are actually decent.

the secret is like.... getting to know them and learning about the one thing they care about the most.

and you can go and try to build communism (wooo, 0.0002%!!) and you meet these young guys, its just. yeah. thats exactly how it is. fucking beans.

Evil Dead Rise (2023)

"A reunion between two estranged sisters gets cut short by the rise of flesh-possessing demons, thrusting them into a primal battle for survival as they face the most nightmarish version of family imaginable."

This is a film that shows you the depths of terror that only a mother can give you. Written, and directed, by Lee Cronin this is a really solid addition to a franchise that began 42 years ago with the Bruce Campbell led, low budget masterpiece, that was The Evil Dead.

The franchise has evolved a lot from the beginning, giving us five movies, as well as a TV show. The original trilogy, and the Ash V The Evil Dead, gave us a campy horror filled world of deadites and gore. They knew what they were and never took themselves too seriously, and they are widely loved for exactly what they are.

The 2013 re-imagining, and this new film, take all of the horror of the originals and ratchet it up to 11. What the new films don't have is that camp edge that can help to alleviate some of the terror. That's not to say I don't like them....far from it. I really enjoyed the 2013 movie and this film immensely. They are just very, very different beasts from the originals, from whence they sprang.

The film starts at a lake with a pretty gorey, wince inducing, hair moment, and then cycles back to "one day earlier". It's at this point we meet the family from the trailers, and see the main location for the film. It's here where the fun begins. It starts slowly, while we are introduced to the family and the returning sister. Then shit goes downhill, and not slowly. One thing I will give these new films over the old is the quality of the effects. Things have improved dramatically in that sense, and this film takes full advantage of that, and does it really well.

The film itself looks to have been made well. The lighting, sets, and effects were all great, and my only minor niggle with the cinematography is that in some scene there seemed to be an odd disconnect with the focus. It was in a couple of scenes with the Book of the Dead and some of the characters. They seemed to be in crisp focus, but the book seems a little fuzzy. I don't know if it was a deliberate choice or a simple camera issue. It was just a noticeable thing for me. Other than that I really loved the way the film was done, and Lee Cronin as director did a bang up job.

This was a small scale ensemble piece focusing on a family, played by Alyssa Sutherland, Lily Sullivan, Morgan Davies, Gabrielle Echols and Nell Fisher. The quality of performances varies, but none of them are bad. Nell as Kassie, the youngest of the group, is pretty good for someone so young. Morgan Davies, as Danny, is the one that finds the Book, and the way he deals with his part in the nightmare is solidly done. Gabrielle, as Bridget, is probably middle of the pack performance wise. She's really good. Lily, as Beth, is an actress with a really solid catalogue behind her already, and this is a great addition to that for her.

For me though, the absolute star of this film is Alyssa Sutherland as Ellie. She is a mother on the verge of life falling apart as she faces the prospect of being homeless with three kids, as their building is due to be demolished. Then her life REALLY falls apart. No spoilers here as the trailers clearly show her possessed by the deadite spirits, but her performance is just awesome. Physically she nails it. I'm not entirely sure how she did certain bits, but the jerky nature of her walking corpse was great. Her facial expressions were on point, and the smile....ooh boy, that smile with cold dead eyes....wow. She really was great.

Overall this film, unlike another recent horror, made me uncomfortable, but in fun ways. It is a gore laden, eyes hidden, jump scary film in mostly the best ways. If you have a weak stomach you might wanna avoid it, but if you're a fan of horror, and the Evil Dead films, you'll love it. There are some brill little easter eggs scattered throughout the film, but you'll need to find them yourselves. It's getting a really well earned 8/10. I thoroughly enjoyed it. I hope you will too.
