What happened with helluva boss season 2? I decided to pick it up and watch it since its free and I was curious about how the sins were handled. (This is a stream of consciousness rant, but I needed to get it all out.)

I thought the first season was okay, with some episodes being stronger than others, but holy shit it really is the Stolas show now. Striker is doing more assassin work than them. I actually got my hopes up for a mystery plus assassination plot in unhappy campers, shouldn't expect shit around here though.

I don't think I can say anything that hasn't already been said about Stolas. I don't like him. If his relationship with Blitzo was less coercive or less sexual I think I'd like him more? It is impossible to empathize with a guy who is using his power to force someone into sex.

I also felt a bit weird that the show would put something sexual in front of a child character and that was the entire joke.

Like, that's an audience of teens watching Millie and Moxie make out and I assume fuck. Gross, but also just not funny? I don't remember if these are the only instances of it, but two is still two too many imo.

I know I said I wasn't going to comment on vivziepop as a person, but knowing how she treats her staff... its impossible to not conflate her with Mammon. 2 Minute Notice feels like an anthem for her overworked underpaid staff.

I also have opinions on the way a circus and clowns are portrayed in the hellaverse, but I don't think I can really put them into words. I have a friend who is fixated on clowns and clown trivia and idk. After talking to them about different types of clowns most clown characters just ring hollow to me. Especially the fish twins, I don't care what anyone tells me they were NOT clowns.

I don't think I'll incorporate anything from helluva boss into my rewrite, Hellbound Hostel. But I did like a couple of things a lot!!!

Fizz is a pretty cool design and has a palette that is loud while also being appealing. If I ever drew non redesign fanart for these series it would be of him. I think it helps that the majority of his features tie to his backstory in some way. That being said, I'm not crazy about his relationship with Ozzie.

The little metal rings and filigree around angelic weapons is a neat design choice. Good visual storytelling and all.

Here's the thing about ayy lmao, it's very obvious they have some knowledge of marketing. Now, marketing is more than advertising. Ayy lmao does videos on the most mundane trivia on Vivziepop. He brings so much attention to subtle details like the spindlehorse logo. Conveniently, Ayy Lmao always drops a video any time some viv drama starts stiring up. The other day, someone even pointed out he's using some default voice app for his videos too. I was following the channel and they posted a community update that they were going to be out of town, so someone else was going to be making and releasing videos on his channel. I'm pretty sure they're being paid too lmao and in fact, wouldn't be shocked if they were part of spindlehorse's company.

Hope she's paying you more than she is her animators, Ayy Lmao, you fucking joke.

Anthony/Angel Dust

Anthony, referred to as Angel or Angel Dust, is one of the main characters in Hazbin Hotel. Angel is the tallest of the main cast, being 8 feet in heels. While he is actively searching for redemption, he has a contract with Valentino. Valentino is basically a pimp, with Angel being his “favorite toy.” In Episode 4, Charlie decides that Angel needs to be at the hotel more, despite him needing to go to work. He works as a porn actor, as per his contract with Valentino. You can tell that he doesn’t like this. Despite his comments about how he was made for the industry, you can see the huge toll it takes on him. After Charlie goes to his work, Valentino drags Angel to his dressing room. He gets physically aggressive with Angel. At one point a chain manifests, a visible representation of the contract/bond. During this scene, Angel visibly dissociates, only giving Valentino the answers he wants to hear. After running away from the hotel, Husk is sent after him. When Husk finds him in the bar, Angel is surrounded by men. Husk watches, and a few moments later watches as someone roofies the drink. He then drags Angel from the bar. Angel breaks down after, yelling at Husk. “You think I ask for it? I don’t ask for any of this shit! I didn’t ask to be this way! I didn’t ask for Charlie to save me! I didn’t ask you to save me. I can handle myself.” It really shows how he feels about his position. Both in his position in the industry he is practically forced to work in and in his relationship with Valentino. He even goes on to say things like:

 “It’s not an act! It’s who I need to be!”

“And this, this is my escape. Where I can forget about it all. How much I hate… Everything.”

“A place where I can get high and not have to think about how much it hurts.”

“And maybe… If I can ruin myself enough in the process, if I can end up broken, I won’t be his favorite toy anymore. And maybe he’ll let me go”

It is important to note the change of tone in these voice lines as well. While Angel is a male, his voice is usually pitched up roughly an octave to sound more feminine. However, when speaking about wanting to get away from it all, the voice drops, implying Anthony is speaking, not Angel Dust. 

Angel also has two siblings, his older brother, Arackniss and his twin sister, Molly. We know from Vivziepop that Angel was originally from a film called “The Spider Brothers.” This went into Angels living past as a mobster. It is believed that he joined his families 'business’ which is what led him and his brother to be sent to hell, and his twin rejected the life and went to heaven.  Molly and Arackniss both make appearances in the main series, but as non-speaking background characters. I’ve seen many posts online about Sir Pentious meeting Molly after he goes to heaven, and it’s honestly sob-inducing to think about but still brings a comfort knowing he won’t be alone. 

It is also kinda obvious that Angel was Vivziepop’s favorite character. His wiki page trivia says “Angel was created during her later years at the School of Visual Arts college, and she recalls how she would draw him excessively, to the point her classmates would comment on it.” And even looking at the wiki, it has more information than even the main characters page. He is altogether a bit more of a well rounded character. We know more about him from before the events of Hazbin Hotel, we know about his family and their dealings. His relationships. We really know about everything there is to know about him. And I do mean everything. Since we actively see him at work, we even know what he’s into/okay with ummm… “intimately.” Even down to the fact that he hates feet. 

Altogether Angel is an amazing character with a tough past and I just want to hug him so badly. Is that so much to ask for?

Crymini is a short anthropomorphic demon that resembles a spotted hyena, with spotted fur and a striped mane. She has fluffy cheeks and red freckles under her eyes, and her sclera are light orange with a hot pink iris.

Crymini's fur is white with red spots, and the inner parts of her ears are bright red. Her right leg, nose, ears and left forearm are dark brown. She has thick, messy hair and a bushy tail. Her hair is white; the lower parts and ends are striped bright red. The same palette is mirrored in her tail.

She wears a short, red dress with a white skull, a black spiked choker and a black, long sleeved jacket with a shorter, torn left sleeve as well as a short, black glove.

When he debuted, he was just a one-off character, however, after the AU started developing, he became a main character.

Vaggie's Bow

As stated here by the Vaggie's VA stated that the former's bow is key to her story and it'll be explored in Season 2. From this, I believe that we'll get more flashbacks of Vaggie's past and more characterization outside of Charlie (not to be rude, I love Vaggie, but I do agree she does need more character moments outside of revolving around Charlie). If anyone else has thoughts, please leave in comments and be polite.

CANON—What Stays The Same & What Will Change? (Pt. 1)

Same:

All off the trivia Vivziepop listed about the characters plus some more.

Official death dates until it has been changed by the creators.

Main cast’s base personality.

Basic world-building rules.

Character-typical lingo/way of speaking (initially).

Maintenance of canon orientations, though I will delve quite into depth about how orientations aren’t cut-and-dry.

Change:

Not really a change until the episodes are aired, but I will use the foundations Viv created to build on my characters.

With stuff that Vivziepop claimed to have not been sure about or haven’t really thought about, I’ll use my creative liberties to explore them.

There’s going to be a ton of the storyline focuses on the human world. It might be a little heavy if historical blunders and humans being, well, humans depress you. The last portion or so of the story will be exclusive focused on what’s happening in the main setting, though.

Some of the theological background will change because I plan to incorporate a lot more spiritual practices, philosophies, and religions within the storyline, and I will go in depth as much as possible.

I will add notes and annotations with each chapter to explain things in-depth for a better experience for readers.

i wanna info-dump, so here's my running idea for who Alaster was! he's obviously from the 1920's-1940's era, due to his outfits, manner of speaking, him mentioning the great depression as though he saw it himself ("I haven't seen this much sadness since the great depression!....so many orphans")), him calling the tv a "picture show" and the fact that his persona is a radio host (in that era radio shows were common.)

But WHERE is he from? My thoughts: Lousiana.

Here me out! In the end of the 1st episode, Alaster mentions his mother's jambalaya recipe, and his song in the 1st episode had an up-beat jazzy feel to it.

Who was he? My thoughts: Serial killer ,and maybe he hunted deer? (That part is a personal headcannon))

When vaggie explains who he is, she mentions that it's rare for a demon to appear with that much power, and he must've been pretty fucked up to get it. Meaning he must've done something TERRIBLE during his time on Earth, and being a serial killer is pretty bad.

The reason I think he was a deer hunter is because he's seen with deer antlers, that's it.

I am obsessed with all of your headcanons and you are literally nailing them on the head! i know that vivziepop has a lot of official backstory for him that she mentioned in speedpaints and stuff and if you go here and to the trivia section it talks a lot about his backstory

for example, he is canonically mixed and he can speak french!

there are a lot of cool facts about him on that website

i really like the deer hunter idea because i have not a clue why he is a deer, but i do know that his death was due to a accident with a bunch of dogs, so maybe its just a joke around that

blitz has adhd - headcanon/interpretation masterpost, or something

i have adhd myself and my magic beams of neurodivergency have detected this bitch is adhd as fuck too. supporting evidence:

- impulsive, interrupting others’s words/actions and wasting money on horse-related purchases all the time: e.g. in ep1 he swoops in to assassinate martha since moxxie hesistated for five seconds (”ya snooze ya lose”) and immediately spends earnings from job in ep4 on a tacky horse toy

- drinks tons of coffee, mostly seen on instagram but also referenced in-show. many people with adhd self-medicate using caffeine drinks (coffee especially) since its neurological effects are a facsimile of prescription stimulants used to treat adhd

- his love for horses + the movie spirit (the latter of which is seen only on instagram bc copyright) reads very similarly to a hyperfixation to me. lots of people with adhd spend excessive amounts of money on hyperfocus/hyperfixation-related impulse purchases since it gives that dopamine hit we all crave so desperately

- one of blitz’s most interesting flaws we’ve seen so far is his inferiority complex, and his behavior reads to me as similar to experiences of rejection sensitive dysphoria (rsd). rsd is an oft-underresearched and difficult-to-treat symptom of adhd, but it involves extreme emotional distress at real or perceived rejection and while it often leads to periods of intense sadness, it just as frequently leads to equally intense fits of anger. blitz picks a death battle with fizz when he points out his social insecurity and is deeply upset when loona becomes angry with him in ep3. loona points out after this argument that “he’ll get over it, he always does”. while rsd episodes aren’t difficult to trigger and recur often, they aren’t long-lasting and usually only cause acute distress for a couple of hours.

- even aside from impulsivity and possible rsd, blitz is just kind of a strange and awkward dude. he’s universally rude and at times seems genuinely unable to understand certain social cues (”we’re in good hands since texts don’t make people angry”, also i only just saw that he has like a billion unread texts #relatable). he has no genuine friends at this point in the story and has presumably struggled to make meaningful connections for most of his life up to this point, which is an experience many people with adhd share.

- vivziepop has adhd. this isn’t evidence i just think it’s a cool bit of trivia to know and share with other adhd fans.

Okay okay, it says, and I quote;

All I want to say is….. I FUCKING KNEW IT! I ALWAYS HEADCANONED HIM AS OWNING TWO DIFFERENT HOMES, ONE MORE UPPER CLASS AND ONE MORE HOMEY, AND I WAS RIGHT! When I tell you I know this man so well!

Now, say Serenity has spent a considerable amount of time at all three places (his room in the hotel, the townhouse, and the cabin). I think she would prefer the townhouse, simply because it’s more familiar to her and how she lived in her life. But she would admit the cabin has its own charm to it as well, being much more warm and quiet.
