Guillermo del Toro’s Pinocchio versus all the other iterations that have come out recently really exemplifies the issue that at a fundamental level the desire to roll out A list actor filled cash grabs of live action remakes of old movies does not understand the nature of media. Certain forms of art- and I feel that I cannot stress this enough- do not mesh well onto a different form of art. Sometimes they can, and it’s wonderful, but very often I’m finding that a lot of remakes are missing the point of how animation is its own medium, stop motion is its own medium, video games and books and even television vs movies are all their own mediums. You really have to know when you’re making something if this is the right form of it, because if not it ends up looking cheep despite the millions of dollars spent to create the whole fucking thing. And a little bit of love and creativity doesn’t hurt either. I think studios to a large degree underestimate how much the creator’s passion imbued in a film translates through the screen to an audience, because we really can feel it. Sure, we all watch shitty TV and moves once in a while, but when something actually moving comes around there’s never any doubt of how masterful it is. And you just don’t ever really get that with soulless billion dollar remakes. Anyways Guillermo del Toro fucking rocks and everybody should go watch Pinocchio.

Sanders Sides Audio Drama Auditions

Auditions for the Syzygy Audio Drama are now open! You can find the link to the audition information here!

Make sure to only submit the form once you are confident in your recording! Only the first submission will be accepted, so take your time and get the best take you can before submitting!

Tips for recording your audition:

Record in a small space that's insulated - a closet can work very well, as the clothes can minimize the echo and avoid too many outside sounds.

Make sure you are the proper distance from your microphone - this can take some testing and trial and error!

Have your microphone resting on a flat surface, don't attempt to move it while recording.

Don't be afraid to do multiple takes and only pick your favorite ones!

Audacity is a free audio recording software that is very intuitive for a beginner to use, if you're looking for a recording program.

It's been a long year and it's only February…

Well, it's time to put this out there: I've had a fairly shitty few years (like, haven't we all, obviously), but it's included a long, expensive legal battle against unscrupulous cysts, which is finally concluded satisfactorily save being left somewhat skint on the other side of it. Doesn’t help that said battle meant that I had to move house - not exactly a low activity on the expense and stress scales…

So I'm looking for extra work, to help while we wait for the Luxury Space Communism to kick in (I'd settle for Universal Basic Income or an end to the Housing and Cost of Living Crisis, tbh).

Things I do to a professional standard include:

Creative Mentoring and Tutoring (writing and performance techniques, especially for poetry - bespoke or standard workshops available for groups as well as one-to-one).

Project Management (feeling overwhelmed by a project you want to get off the ground and/ or run within budget and timescale? I can help with that).

Performance Poetry (got a bunch of poems, 18 years' experience delivering them live, and a nice voice).

damn martin walls was not joking around when he said he was going to take the walten files in a more cinematic direction. i have to admit i was hesitant when i first heard that because i didn't know how much the series would change, but man. i was sold the second i saw the opening scene with edd and molly animated in the school gym.

everything looked great, the atmosphere was amazing, the distinct style is there still but more polished and it's so cool to see these characters moving and talking. episodes 1-3 had the scary factor (which walls himself later described as 'over-the-top') but you can really tell that walls must have an extra special talent for this new kind of storytelling. can't wait to see what episodes 5 and 6 bring, i'm sure they'll knock even this last episode out of the park.

if the walten files team can continue these types of episodes but manage to bring back some of that insane dreadful horror that made the series so famous in the first place (in a way that martin walls can still approve of; because i kind of see what he meant by calling the first three episodes 'over-the-top'), i think this fnaf knockoff scary youtube show could actually end up being, no exaggerating, a masterpiece. the three year wait was worth it. fantastic job to the entire team.

#apparently im not the only one who had this sentiment but at times during ep 4 i was thinking 'damn this is like watching a legit movie' #now im thinking about how crazy twf would go if it kept the art style and the voice acting but just had like a professional budget and team #then again part of its charm has always been its status as a passion project... but goddamn you know how kane pixels is literally directing #a backrooms movie for fucking a24? i feel like somebody in the industry has gotta do the same thing to martin walls. snap that guy up #the walten files #twf #tee.post

for a while now i have been greatly inspired by object shows and their community, passion projects from all ends of the spectrum telling stories about characters in a new and fun way! gameshows and competitions and murder mystery! and after months of ruminating i've finally gathered the courage to start my own passion project:

JUMP: a leap of faith is an object show i will be making alongside my friends @thorninyourside05, @zanethepa1n, @momoinkies and @ultraalittlebitofeverything. it will be handling topics of growth, healing, and general real world issues. including moving on from bad situations and learning to heal and grow from trauma.

im making a post to hopefully attract people who would like to help!! i personally can animate and do character designs/backgrounds, and will be voice acting, but id love people who could also help me and my friends in the grand scheme of things! voice actors, artists, animators, even people who just wanna submit ideas! anyone who wants to join the team will have the chance to add their own oc(s) to the story/background, but of course since this is a passion project, it will not be paid with cash (although, id be willing to do art for anyone on the team!) which is why i want people who are also passionate about this sort of thing and want the chance to try their hand at a show!

we are currently working on cast and plot-line right now, among other behind the scenes things!
