"She was saying something, Max often wondered what. He for some reason imagined himself to be standing just out of frame, a child of four, staring solemnly up at her. He felt that she was raising her hand to wave him back, keep him from wandering into the shot. If this was so, it was reasonable to believe she had been caught forever in the act of saying his name." - Abraham's Boys from 20th Century Ghosts, Joe Hill
"Whereas I had no clear picture of myself, and was always looking to others, watching them intently, both longing and fearing that I would catch some clear sign of who they saw when they looked at me." - Voluntary Committal from 20th Century Ghosts, Joe Hill

"Should I tell you that when we're apart, your body comes back to me in dreams? That when I sleep, I see you, the dip of your waist, the freckle above your hip, and when I wake up in the morning, it feels like I've just been with you, the phantom touch of your hand on the back of my neck fresh and not imagined? That I can feel your skin against mine, and it makes every bone in my body ache? That, for a few moments, I can hold my breath and be back there with you, in a dream, in a thousand rooms, nowhere at all?"
"You were talking with Nora and June, happy and animated and fully alive, a person living in dimensions I couldn't access...I thought, this is the most incredible thing I have ever seen, and I had better keep it a safe distance away from me. I thought, if someone like that ever loved me, it would set me on fire." - Red, White, and Royal Blue, Casey McQuiston
"'Real men wear floral when trespassing'" - a good girl's guide to murder, Holly Jackson
"'Fuck them all,' Gillian would say, her beautiful little nose in the air as the boys made spooky goblin noises when the sisters passed them in the hallways at school, on the way to music or art. 'Let them eat dirt.'"
"Sometimes it takes a good while before anyone in a house realizes what has happened. People want to ignore what they can't understand. They're looking for logic at any cost." - Practical Magic, Alice Hoffman
"Did you tell your best friend his crush was a cannibal?" - The Ballad of Songbirds and Snakes, Suzanne Collins
"The mix of awe and anger and the realization that the world was large, and beautiful, and sometimes so overwhelming in its wonder that is was impossible to drink it all down at once." - A Court of Wings and Ruin, Sarah J. Maas
"I'll bet you didn't know there were so many simple tools to help you poop better! All it takes is for you to start using them, little by little, until they become part of your everyday routine. Then, you won't know how you lived without them. Like I said before, knowledge is power, and in this case, knowledge is poop power in action!" - The Power of Pooping, Nurse Wong with John Rietcheck

Jung Yoon Oh
Jaehyun (NCT) - Ideal Partner
DOB: 14.02.1997 Blood Type: A MBTI: ESTP Sun Sign: Aquarius Chinese Sign: Fire Ox Life Path Number: 6
Spread / Question: Ideal Partner
Deck(s): E. A. Poe Tarot
Body - XII The Hanged Man
Jaehyun’s ideal partner is likely someone who likes to do the opposite of what others think is appropriate for them. They are likely to dress their own way, having their own style and carrying it with confidence but not showing off. They prefer to listen rather than speaking all the time. They are the observers and notice things and events from very different points of view than other people. Their eyes might seem veiled sometimes as if they were daydreaming all the time but they actually just try to see everything from multiple angles.
Heart - Ace of Cups
Jaehyun’s perfect match is a loving person at heart. They are overflowing with affection and care towards people who are closest to them but they also radiate kindness when dealing with complete strangers. They might not be the ones talking about their feelings openly but their actions speak louder than words. They are that person who will cook chicken soup after work only to bring it to their sick neighbour. Their heart is open and ready to cradle anyone, they have a strong desire to love and care for someone.
Spirit - 10 of Swords
Jaehyun’s special person is likely someone who has been through a lot of hardship in their life and they have learned how to guard themselves. Sometimes they seem rather mysterious to others, like if there was a wall around them, thick and impenetrable. They seldomly share their aches and fears with others, they are used to dealing with them on their own and internally. It’s not likely for others to see them cry or break down as they will keep the poker face in public and only let the tears flow when they are safely alone or with someone they trust completely.
Soul - King of Swords
Jaehyun’s ideal person has the soul of a scientist or psychologist. They prefer to analyse other people more than getting emotionally engaged with them. They might seem distant at times, people have a hard time reading them. They are the ones who can read others extremely well, they spot red flags and signals instantly and they might even seem like they are reading other people’s minds. Sometimes it’s scary but the important thing here is that deep down they are good and just and whatever they learn about others, they always use it to benefit or help them.
Time - 8 of Cups
Jaehyun and his special person might meet at a time of transition. One of them or both might just have broken up with someone and are in need of a little detachment time. The relationship is likely to start as something non-committal, none of them wanting to actually take it seriously or even reveal it to the public. As they walk this path together, it’s possible their feelings for each other deepen and the bond thickens.
Place - 4 of Wands
If Jaehyun and his lover decide to live together, they will make a beautiful and peaceful home for themselves. It’s more likely for them to keep it private, not letting many friends hang out there with them as the space feels nearly sacred to them. They are likely to build a comfortable and in a way minimalistic home, no clutter around to distract or disturb them. It’s also likely for them to share the burden of house chores equally.

Wait, what? Could you explain the M and India UK thing?
It all dials back to the Commonwealth and uk- india ties in terms of it. So, a little background - commonwealth was the second international organization/group joined by India after the UN. But the commonwealth was the first it joined as an independent sovereign state. Now at that time india was one of the first countries who put forth the demand that republics should also be able to join the CW and countries like them should not be expected to keep the monarch as the head of the state to be a condition for joining what is being called a voluntary organization. Because if they keep the monarch as the head of state, then the whole idea of independence from colonization loses its meaning. So the Indian leaders at that time put forth the demand that republics should be allowed in too, and these countries will be a part of the CW but no authority of the UK or the head of atate/monarch will extend to them. That was accepted because it was a fair demand and made sense. Hence, india joined the CW.
Even back then i.e post indepence in 1947 till the time of the london declaration in 1949, there was a lot of debate and controversy over the whole joining buisness and even then a large section of politicians and leaders were like this is stupid, why are we going back under their influence after having a 100 year long struggle to get out of it. But the then government including Jawaharlal Nehru (my fav Indian pm) who was his own foreign minister, were like India will need to have some sort of connection and some sort of ties with other nations internationally to make sure it can work in the global world. And even today, the Commonwealth forms the bedrock of india's contemporary relations with a number of African states and its dealings with canada, australia, etc.
JLN and his interim government agreed with the influence argument so they put forth the demand for the joining of republics with their own heads of states. It was agreed upon by the UK. But even after that, since india's independence a large section has been against the Commonwealth with the same arguments and people, intellectuals, politicians like shashi tharoor, the southern state CMs, some North Indian parties feel that India should leave the CW.
Now flash forward to the wedding in 2018, meghan came out wearing a veil embroidered with the national flowers of all the CW states, including guess which ones? The republics which are sovereign!!! Including - india (lotus), Pakistan (jasmine) and Bangladesh (water lily)
This thing was picked up by journalists and they ran with it on social media and in newspapers that the royals still think we are theirs. The whole of South Asian twitter was a mess, everyone was criticizing the UK, asking for the high commission to be summoned in front of parliamentary committes to see why they thought it was okay. In india politicians from both sides - the ruling bjp and the opposition parties jumped in. It basically became a f*ck CW, f*ck UK narrative. Now add to this the whole history of colonization and that makes it even worse.
The whole problem that people had with it was that, despite nearly 75 years of independence, UK still thinks we are theirs so why don't we kick them to the curb, we don't need the CW to have trade and other diplomatic ties with other states anymore. Pakistan, Bangladesh etc also had the same issues but it was the most amplified in india.
So in the official circles, for the first time, formal demands were being made that India should leave CW in 2018 because of that Givenchy wedding outfit and the attitude which it must have accompanied. It was always a thing in india, on the fringes of politics, to leave the CW as an agenda for some sections, but nobody ever took any initiative for it except making statements. The government didn't do it formally because let's be honest, 2018 was just a year off the next national elections and they had bigger fish to fry back then but I know it was pretty much a done deal as per the news coming out from 'sources' close to the cabinet, plans were being made. But it was sorted out later, a lot of it because bjp shares common ties with the Tories in the UK so they could smooth it over.

arlecchini asked: 🎭 Tem's mindless murder surfaced many of the herbivores' concerns. All valid but also hindered the progress between them and carnivores. The news affected more than just the school, all relations became strained throughout the city. When the talk of segregation rose, a backwards step, Cherryton Academy proposed an ... 'observation'. Rooming a carnivore and herbivore together. The expected backlash met with accusations. 'You're going to put an herbivore's life at risk?' 'You're assuming a carnivore is an automatic risk?' A double standard so to speak. It was set. Very few students were chosen, but it was still voluntary in the end and they could leave the arrangement at any time. Louis hadn't properly met Jack before but he knew of the young man's presence. A close friend of that wolf. The deer understood the assignment but with his after school activities keeping him mostly out of the dorm, it was counterproductive to chose him. He only agreed to help gain more status. He had not entered the room yet, opting to standing in the doorway and examine his temporary roommate. A Labrador retriever, a dog breed know for their friendliness. No surprise they didn't pick someone like Bill. "So," he strolled and closed the door behind him, still focused on the other man as his fingers grazed the lock, debating to use it or not, "Jack it is?" He decided to lock then fold his arms. "Seems you're stuck with me." [[ @bloodvelvett ]]
The idea of putting an herbivore and carnivore in the same room sounded almost horrific after hearing of the murder that happened prior to any of this. He remembered talking to Legoshi about the incident, how it had brought a rise in paranoia in school because of an herbivore being the victim of such a horrible crime. They were the victims to any cause, and the committer was always a carnivore.
Anything was there to attack one of their own kind. Each side had its rumors and weaknesses that could break their own morale. Jack himself was hesitant to think about what this could mean for one another. All that truly mattered to him was finding that happiness with one another. Surely, this wouldn't divide them that much, would it?
That was what he was afraid of.
Tumblr media
"Oh! Y-Yes, Jack! That's me!" He sounded surprised, unexpectedly put with Louis - the aspired deer that he recalled seeing once or twice with Legoshi. Were they friends? "I, uhm... I didn't know they had put you with me! I-I thought that... you would be with Legoshi!"
The poor pup wasn't too sure about this sort of assignment, but he also didn't know if Legoshi had been taken to be apart of this as well. He was anxious, to say the least. Something unknown to him was up to learning, but this was... new. And unexpected. Shuffling in his seat, the room was awfully quiet and cold once he had entered.
"...i-it's nice to meet you, Lous," he managed to smile, wagging his tail. "I guess you learned I'm Legoshi's friend! An... old friend! How did you two... know each other?"

The Dark History Magdalene Laundries
Tumblr media
I believe that remembering dark times in history is important so we recognize when similar situations are proposed. So, today I will share one of these dark histories.
⚠️Do note that it is a story with abuse, imprisonment, and more. I feel like this post will be particularly triggering to residential school survivors.
I will try to keep this post brief and fairly censored, while providing videos with more information.
Tumblr media
Magdalene Laundries (also called Magdalene Asylums and Magdalene Institutions) were institutions primarily run by the Roman Catholic Church. These institutions could be found in the United Kingdom, Ireland, Sweden, Canada, the USA, and Australia. The ones in Ireland are regarded as the most notorious.
The people confined to these institutions were “fallen women,” which meant any women who were outside of what society deemed appropriate.
According to survivors, you might find yourself in a laundry if you…
Are suspected of being a sex worker
Got pregnant outside of marriage
Got pregnant from an affair
Are an orphan
Ran away from your abusive husband
Have a mother deemed unsuitable to raise you
Have a mental illness
Are deemed too flirtatious
Are the victim of assault
Have an abusive father
Have struggling parents who want one less mouth to feed
Have a mother who remarried and her new husband does not want you
And some were sent with no known reason at all
“A "voluntary" committal was the label given to any woman surrendered by family, a doctor, her employer, the police, or a social worker.” Owlcation
Tumblr media
The women were a source of free labour, primarily through a laundry business(hence the name). Little care was given to these women and children, and survivors report many levels of abuse.
"Ireland's first mother and baby home, at Bessborough, in Cork, had an even worse infant mortality rate of around 82 percent: In the year ending March 31, 1944, 124 children were born or admitted there, and 102 died." NBC News
Only some deaths were reported, and the number of remains found in mass graves in Ireland is around 1000.
Babies that survived would be given to new families.
Some women would be stuck in the institutions for their entire lives. An estimated 30,000 women were victims of these institutions in Ireland alone.
For a long time, the rumours were that the laundries were “only” for prostitutes. Now the rumours say that only those in Ireland were harmful. However, locations elsewhere in the world, such as Australia, Canada, and the USA, also have stories of abuse in the forced-labour institutions.

hey guys i just realized i can post anything i want. so im gonna tell you all my oc stories and give you a brief summary of their story
experiment 01: my main story. currently being released as a webcomic heh Heh. anyway. ex01 is a story about a hypersexual, voluntary hermit hobbyist scientist (alan richland) who gets ripped out of his comfortable solitude by an alien (wheatley) that crash lands in his front yard and said aliens boss (galaxius opinion), who doesnt like him very much. he's taken off the planet to help galaxius handle some business and he's fine with that because he hates it here.
has a LOT going on it, largely character driven like most my work. the main themes are mental health related. alan is a very annoying little shit protagonist that annoys most people he runs into. hes irritatingly horny. i cant rlly go into it much because... its being released!!! READ IT
culinary cuties: a group of highschoolers find a cat behind their school and it makes them magical girls who use kitchen appliances as their magical weapons!
sadly underdeveloped from a plot standpoint. they go into a place that has manifestations of ppls mindsets and help them cope with whats troubling them. thats the gist. but their personalites are very fleshed out! once again, huge mental health themes! i like psychology
theres something wrong with matthew moore: a teen boy doesnt remember his past but everyone in his small town does and gossips about him. the only people besides him who dont know is his small friend group. he's trying to cope with going through puberty, his crush on his best friend and figuring out his past all at once.
maybe one of my heaviest stories but also one of the coziest!! i have non-committal plans to release this during an ex01 hiatus in the future
apocalypze paradize: a highschool of kids being trained for the current zombie apocalypse and their antics as they try to find out what caused the breakout in the first place.
the only one to not take place in the same universe as the ones mentioned above!!! WOW!!!! WAOIWWW
if you see this post and go Wow. This i s really long. I do not care read my post boy

mini review of joe hill’s 20th century ghosts:
9/10! he’s a very effective writer and tends to write his stories in the first person. by the end of them i feel awed, but not necessarily scared. my favorite story in this collection was “voluntary committal”. the most unsettling one to me was “my father’s mask”.

Intro to Abram, another psalm, and strange advice from a god
Genesis 11:10-13:18, Psalm 5, Matthew 5:21-42
My app that tells me what bible passages to read each day also has a title for each day. This one is, "Directions for life". It's oddly saccharine, especially given the old testament passage for today.
In comes Abram, a nomadic herder in the levant who makes his way to Egypt. He thinks that because his wife is beautiful, the Egyptians will kill him to be able to own her, so, scared for his own skin, he says that she is his sister and so she can go and be a part of the harem of the Pharoah without guilt. Abram was given gifts in return for his 'sister' and became very wealthy.
The secret comes out eventually because Pharoah's household is cursed because of this relationship. Pharoah is remarkably quick on the uptake and asks Abram to leave. Abram leaves a wealthy man and everything is fine.
What, then, are we to take from this? Does God not care about the experiences of women? Abram is blessed with wealth for, essentially, selling his wife. Sarai has no say in the matter at all. Some will say that the bible is descriptive, not prescriptive in its record of history, meaning that these are events, not examples to be followed. That's fair, but even so we can come away with a picture of the character of God. We know humans are messed up, but God isn't supposed to do wrong. Of course, there may be more stuff going on here than is recorded. Abram may have acted better than is implied, and so on. I haven't in the past been comfortable with God cursing people, but I recently encountered a story of a young person that I know being roofied and taken advantage of. I consider myself a pacifist, but I was very angry about this and, though I wasn't in a position to, wanted to hurt the person responsible. And this doesn't mean I'm not still a pacifist, but if we consider God capable and responsible for administering justice from a position of absolute authority, we can consider him allowed to do this. Maybe. I'm no philosopher.
The new testament passage is very prescriptive, as Jesus tells people how to live, and expands on the rules for living a decent life into principles for living a good life. Don't just avoid murder, avoid being angry. Reconcile with people without taking things to courts. Don't call people 'Raca' (An ancient term of contempt which is never translated, but which I have come to translate in my head as 'dumbass').
Don't just avoid cheating on your spouse, but guard your thoughts and eyes. "Anyone who looks at a woman lustfully has already committed adultery with her in his heart." Then a passage of what is hopefully hyperbole, where if your hands or eyes cause you to sin, you should remove them.
Then Jesus says that men aren't allowed to divorce their wives unless they've been cheated on. (Wives weren't allowed to ever divorce in that culture) Earlier translations of the bible word this passage as if it were the woman's fault, but mine says that if a man divorces his wife, she becomes a "victim of adultery" rather than an "adulteress".
Jesus says not to swear oaths on what when consider sacred or valuable. Simply say yes or no.
Jesus says that we should repay evil with good, and to be kind to those who hurt us. Modern interpretations of the 'turn the other cheek' passage describe this as forcing someone to strike you as an equal, or forcing you to commit public indecency, and so on. This may be true, but whatever the social context, thsi describes Jesus ultimate committment to pacifism, nonviolence, creative resistance, and voluntary surrendering of ones own power. He also demanded that we do the same.

Incoherent notes on the funeral of Queen Elizabeth II
Okay, so let's just take a moment to talk about what we just saw. This is my interpretation of the events.
Two CRITICAL things:
This kind of ceremony has a PURPOSE. That purpose? Well, PURPOSES. Multifaceted.
I think the most critical is unifying the countries the monarchy controls until the coronation can take place. All this pageantry, the spectacle? It eases the new monarch's transition to power precisely BY drawing the constituents' focus away from their political activities, or lack thereof, and into the show. Yes, it's distracting. It's performance art on a truly epic scale. But for a few moments, maybe a few days, all but the die-hards are NOT thinking about infighting, or secession. They're watching. And this provides a common ground for everyone, going into the new reign.
And because of Elizabeth II's reputation, it's important to get as much out of this last memory to make the important points– loyalty, duty, tradition, history, service, love– stick into the commoner's heads until Charles III has cemented things– or at least, had a chance to mourn, process, and prepare.
It is, simply put, the political and emotional equivalent of Shock and Awe.
The Structure
The structure of the funeral could be described as a down-pitched pyramid.
Tumblr media
One could describe each point as being more exclusive than the last, but in another way, she is becoming more and more human with each point – providing catharsis for each element.
Lying in State (and "The Queue")
Yeah. That one twitter post seems to have missed a point, if my hypothesis is correct. Namely, it could well be the most open, public, unscripted part of this whole framework! Audience participation, voluntary queuing, intense media coverage… It fits.
Military Parade
Does this feel Victorian? Perhaps Regency? YES, yes, yes! It's not just you. That music is, according to the Independent
Committal Ceremony
One thing that was pointed out to me by my father, who was watching as well, was the Queen's piper in the committal ceremony (8:52:25 in the BBC stream). Just before this point, we have the Garter King at Arms read out her styles: "Thus it hath pleased Almighty God to take out of this transitory life unto His Divine Mercy the late Most High, Most Mighty, and Most Excellent Monarch, Elizabeth the Second, by the Grace of God of the United Kingdom of Great Britain and Northern Ireland and of Her other Realms and Territories Queen, Head of the Commonwealth, Defender of the Faith, and Sovereign of the Most Noble Order of the Garter" as the casket is being lowered, via elevator, into the Royal Vault.
We, the viewers watching from outside by our TV or rewatching via YouTube, WILL NOT SEE the casket disappear from view.
Instead, the BBC stream cuts to the piper. He's facing the camera. He turns around. Stately, regally. He walks down the aisle, out the door, turns left and leaves the building into the light. Then, while the song still echoes through the building, but while the piper is no longer visible? That's when we come back.
And we do not see the casket anymore. Instead, they're transitioning focus to the new monarch.
This, Dad thinks, might be evoking the soul leaving to God, work finally done.
Now, we all have probably heard about the piper playing for her every morning, but… I think he's got a point. It's not just the piper playing her out. I'd say that it also is the representation of her final removal from public life. The piper represents her. Her song still echoes, but for us out here? She's gone from view. Finally, utterly, even down to the box around her. She has gone where the media cannot follow. She's shed every eye watching her, but her family and her church. She's gone to the light. She is free.
(In that sense, the sudden shift to the blessing of Charles III is not jarring in the least. Elizabeth has left the building: So now. Look. Look to her son. It's his turn now.)
It's catharsis in a way– a visual representation of her leaving the world stage. I would BET this was planned specifically by her. Goodness knows, the piper shares so many of the features of her outward presentation to the world! Stoicism while feeling; history; steel hidden in silk; slow, dignified movement, and a beautiful sound for those who listen… all while standing alone.
This was definitely meant as a message to the world, as it is an image that could only be conveyed by cameras.
But there's one last catharsis to get out of the way, because those who are there CANNOT see the piper, only hear him. They need another way to close this chapter. In that respect, the reprise of her version of the national anthem is truly very fitting.

20th Century Ghosts by Joe Hill
“He had been showing his collection for years. He was used to every kind of reaction.”
I'm not the biggest fan of short-story collections. Further more, I downright dislike reviewing short-story collections as one whole piece. Unless they're extremely connected, there's no way to write about all the stories in a collection as a whole without quickly sounding pretentious. But I also find it tedious to list all the stories within and review each and every one, so...
Sure, Joe Hill's  20th Century Ghosts is a collection of ghost stories, but rarely in the sense that you'd expect. See? If I go any further with that, I'll just start to sound like some insufferable grad student pulling shit out of my ass in a pathetic attempt to sound deep. So, yes, this is indeed a collection of ghost stories. There. That's settled. It's rarely a horror book, though. And the most successful short stories living within are more than just ghost stories. They are far more often bittersweet than they are bone-chilling, and significantly more emotionally devastating than terrifying in their exploration of loss.
The best stories within were "20th Century Ghost" (a passage from which - that made me feel understood in a way I seldom do - will close this review), which celebrates the life-changing nature of the cinema; "Last Breath" (from which the quote that opened this review came), which I thought was downright genius, boasting an amazingly creative, pitch-black concept delivered with efficiency and razor sharp teeth; and "The Cape", which had the wise words of Billy Butcher echoing in my head upon its ending... “With great power comes the absolute certainty that you'll turn into a right cunt.” Others I really dug were "The Black Phone" (though I'd give the film the edge, as I really liked what they added to it), "The Widow's Breakfast" (whose final line really takes it to the next level), and "Bobby Conroy Comes Back from the Dead" (the atmosphere and emotions it stirred felt real and hit home pretty damn hard). "Voluntary Committal" and the 'hidden' final story, "Scheherazade’s Typewriter", were also really damn good, but the former was significantly too long, and the latter had a concept and themes so hauntingly rich that I kind of wish Hill had reworked it into a full-length piece of its own.
The worst of the bunch (and really the only two I'd outright label, 'bad') were "My Father's Mask" and "You Will Hear the Locust Sing". Both came off as infuriatingly pretentious, and it made reading them excruciating, especially seeing as they were among so many great stories. There were others I disliked, or that bored me, and some I really got into while reading, but that didn't stay with me at all once finished, but none that I feel the need to write about here, as I feel like this has gone on too long as it is.
As an introduction to Hill,  20th Century Ghosts works quite well because it showcases his range of talent as a writer and wide scope of interest and creativity as a storyteller. I'm still not the biggest fan of short-story collections, though.
“A whole congregation of people who flocked to the Rosebud instead of church on Sundays, those whose prayers were written by Paddy Chayefsky and whose hymnals were composed by John Williams and whose intensity of faith is a call Imogene is helpless to resist. Alec himself.”

The Harold Jordan Center (HJC) is reorganizing its operations to focus on forensic evaluation and treatment.  Anyone now admitted to HJC must be found committable according to conditions outlined in Tenn. Code Ann. § 33-5-402 - Tenn. Code Ann. § 33-5-405.  DIDD has planned this change for some time and there have been no new voluntary admissions to the facility since November 2021.  We currently have no residents in our Behavior Stabilization Unit, and those currently residing in the ICF/IID program at HJC will be moving to other less restrictive settings as soon as they can be arranged.  Should you have any questions about forensic commitments to HJC, please contact [email protected]

“Voluntary Committal” Series in the Works
Tumblr media
Paramount TV is developing a series based on Joe Hill’s “Voluntary Committal.” Brad Caleb Kane is writing the series. Hill, Kane, and Landscape Entertainment’s Bob Cooper are producing.
“Voluntary Committal,” a story found in Hill’s 20th Century Ghosts, is a psychological thriller. Nolan Lerner wants to discover the truth about his autistic brother’s disappearance and its possible connection to a past secret. The series will follow Lerner as an adult during his investigation and as a teen with his brother.
Deadline broke the news.

3, 4 and 9 for the shepard ask game?
Thank you so much for sending these back then, my dear! <3 Lets see what I can come up with.
From this Shepard ask. Feel free to send more. :)
3 What memory do they like to remember?
There are a couple of small moments that she holds dear, and usually it's less about the what but about the with whom. Reda isn't really good at forming meaningful relationships or making friends. When she gets out of the Reds on Earth, Anderson makes it very clear that she has to cut all ties to them (which only works to some extent and gets her in trouble for a couple of years afterwards). The hard cut she needs to make then, plus losing pretty much every person she was somewhat close with on Akuze, didn't leave her in a space where she's like "yay, new people! new possible friendships!" She's introverted, reserved, and has been in trouble enough to try to keep herself out of trouble, and people are potential trouble - and she's not the easiest person to be with and to like. Little people manage to do that and to get close enough to her to like her - and if someone does and in the little moments when her head is not wrapped around work 100% of the time, that's moments she cherishes a lot. For example shore leave with Tabatha Adams (who, unfortunately, dies on Akuze). Tabatha was the complete opposite of Reda, bright and bubbly and a really sweet girl, and Reda never fully understood why she liked her, but she cherished their friendship a lot. Or crappy dinners shared with Joker in the mess on Arcturus Station after the two freaks team up while she's taking flight classes. Or her 16th birthday. It's the first birthday that she spends outsides the Reds and with Cynthia after Anderson leaves her in the care of his ex-wife. And Cynthia tries very hard to show Reda that life actually can be very good and is devoted to make her birthday something special to her. She buys a really nice cake and they go to the beach and get nice food and end up sitting in the sand watching the sunset together and it seems like such a little moment but for Reda, that's something she holds very dear.
4 What memory/actions do they hate to be reminded of?
Akuze, for obvious reasons (but she doesn't need a reminder for that; she dreams about it too often and too many people (Jenkins >.>) think it's a good idea to talk about it with her).
But she also hates to be reminded of the good moments with the Reds. Cutting ties with them was hard for her. No matter that she was the one looking for a way out, because she knew she didn't have a future there, but the Reds (or at least some of them) still were family for her for most of her early life. And when Anderson tells her that she needs to make a hard cut, it's a very hard time. So being reminded of the good times and good moments with them hurts, because it reminds her of what she lost when she decided to get out.
9 What are their hobbies and which hobby is their favorite?
Reda Shepard is the most boring person in space.
... says Reda Shepard. And to some extent that might be correct, but it doesn't make her a bad person. Look, Shepard doesn't have a great sense of who she is outside the military. She ran in a gang, then when she got out she worked for a couple of years trying to be a teenager but she pretty much failed at that. Then she enlisted. And from that moment on, she's a work 24/7 person. She forms few friendships within her platoon that later dies on Akuze, and they drag her out on shore leave and do stuff that 20-yo's do. But Reda is never the driving force in that. Then they all die and Reda is... lost. She committs even more to work. She spends her shore leaves on voluntary military trainings unless Anderson forces her to take real time off (and when he does, she doesn't know what to do with it).
She doesn't have outside-of-work-hobbies. Does working out count? Reading stuff of galactic importance to educate herself? Tinkering on the MAKO? Because that's how she spends "free time". (She does like IFVs a ot, though, and you could probably say tinkering on them is a hobby for her and one that she enjoys a lot.)
